Yeah, Hello there, it's the Internet. You're busy. Let's do this.
I'm Jeff grub All right over on GamesBeat dot com. I do grubs.
Next, you're on Giant Bomb. I run the game Mess over the
summer. Probably expand that in some way, who knows. Uh. Yeah,
and I am here to talk about video games with y'all. Trying to
think there was something on that happened. They said on the Bomb cast yesterday.
I was gonna bring it up, and now it's completely left my brain.
I'm sure it'll occur to me or someone will ask a question about it.
It was like one of the first topics yesterday. I can't remember what
was it about hockey? Or was it about hockey? Could have been about
hockey. I don't know. All right, let's let's see what do we
do on this show. It's it's a mess. We talk about video games,
who knows, We talk about rumors and news and what's happening and current
events and all that stuff. But we also answer your questions. It's interactive.
If you are watching for the first time, you can hit that ask
a Question but button there at the top of the page that will enable you
to send me a question here, it'll show up on the screen and we
will address it as best we can. I try to get to as many
as I can usually and get about half of them most of the time.
But I don't know. We'll see, we'll get to as many as we
can. Today, I don't have a ton of news. I did spend
a lot of this past week looking into the Game Awards, and I was
thwarted by clever pr people who are like as I was like finding stuff out
a couple of days later. I would then get embargoes for it, or
our staff would get embargoes. So they're starting to figure it out. The
best way to the best way to head this stuff off of the past is
to either either announce it publicly or to just give us an embargo on it.
So some of these things I can't talk about that we're on my list
here, some of the things they've announced publicly, we'll mention those, and
then I'll go into the things that haven't been embargoed that I've heard. And
then there's some like maybes, some things that are up in the air,
things I can't confirm but that i've heard. Okay, So if you want
sending those questions. I will get to here in a little bit. First
though, let's let's hop in. Let's do this thing. Let's start with
the Game Awards. So the Game Awards are tonight, which last week I
thought they would be over by now, but I just mixed up my days
because who can keep track of time. That's for competent people. I instead
of keeping track of time, just wait until the day comes and then I'm
like, oh, okay, I gets we'll talk about this, so let's
do it. There is a long list of stuff that has just been confirmed
that is going to be a part of the of the Game Awards, and
I'll go over some of that now. It's pretty lengthy, and a lot
of it is Hollywood related. Big surprise there. I think that Jeff Kelly's
found a good balance of like him hosting and being like the face and being
the gaming guy and then being able to bring on celebrities. And it's still
it's not a perfect fit, but it's a much better fit than in the
old days when they would have like a celebrity host and then also have celebrities
come on to you know, present, and it just felt like, what
are we doing? Why am I watching these people like get like Tim Schaefer
on to present at least, and now they do some of that sometimes.
So the things that are confirmed here are well, there's the Sonic movie trailer
will be there, the Sonic two movie trailer, and then also they said
they will announce a new Sonic game. I can't I can't say anything else
about that other than the fact that they've confirmed that there will be a Sonic
game. If you look around, there's some info on the internet. I
just can't tell you. Then Xbox Game Pass for PC, we'll have some
new game and games announced like day one releases. So that's pretty interesting that
they did announce a bunch of day one Xbox Game Pass for PC games,
and then they said at the Game Awards we will announce like three or four
more or something like that, and that's it's pretty exciting that they're starting to
spend some of that budget that we've talked about on this show before, and
you know, hopefully it's not just on PC. I mean, it seems
like it's gonna be just for Xbox Game Pass for PC at the Game Awards,
but hopefully some of that money gets spent for a console when we get
some of that stuff later, it doesn't seem like it's gonna happened today.
Then Improbable Improbable dot Io that is a company that was kind of making some
waves a few years back with like, oh, we're gonna put out a
platform and a development kit to make connected open world super easy to build and
developers are going to use our platform and we're going to provide that. That
never really took off, but now they've got Aaron Flynn, the former GM
of BioWare working as a creative director at their studio, making a game in
house at Improbable, and he's going to reveal his game at the Game Awards.
He announced that on Twitter. That's That's one of those things that I
had actually heard beforehand. I'm like, oh, okay, that'd be fun
to maybe like to tease, and now they've just come out and set it
so we could just say it. Let's see. Then Arc Raiders another thing
that we heard beforehand. This is the new game from Embark Studios, the
first game from Embark Studios, and Embark is the new studio from Patrick Soderland,
the former head of Electronic Arts Worldwide Studios. He's also the guy that's
like the helped found Dice, and his name is on the patent for for
the Frostbite engine, so whenever they use a Frostbite engine, I think he
gets a little bit of money. He doesn't use the Frostbite Engine anymore though,
he uses Unreal of course, because he's not at EA, and they're
using that to make Arc Raiders, which seems like a multiplayer shooter with like
a different like a spin to it. Like I don't know. They showed
a really quick teaser and there was a giant like Indiana Jones style cement ball
flying at a character super fast, and they were like shooting it or whatever.
I don't know. I don't know what's going on in the game,
but yeah, Arc Raiders. Then we got asked about the Matrix Awakened a
few a few weeks back, Yo, what is that? It turns out
it's just an Unreal Engine five sort of tech experience that will be debuting at
the Game Awards. Then Halo TV show, they've they said that that's coming.
We're gonna get a trailer for that, like the first first look trailer
of like what the show actually actually looks like. Well, probably get the
name I U when it comes to Halo. I think that there's a good
chance the name might be related to a character in the game that now I
think we could say it now because the game is out of the Endless.
I wonder if they're going to tie that in with like stuff that's happening in
the game. Microsoft just trademarked Halo the Endless like earlier this summer. They
re upped it and expanded it like earlier this month, and I'm thinking that
either that's the TV show or like a name of an upcoming expansion, maybe
a new game. I don't know, but chances are it sounds like it's
going to be related to this TV show and the law going forward in the
game, because they do drop that name a few times in the storyline and
then kind of don't it kind of feels like it's a it's a loose thread
hanging there, suicide Squad that we'll get something new from there. That game
has been showing up in a lot of places now seems like they're really fully
into the marketing push. We'll get something new there. Destiny to Witch Queen
trailer, and then Saber Interactive will have a new game announcement and then a
new trailer, and I don't know if that trailers for a previously announced game
or a previously released game, but it'll be a new trailer for something as
well. And then Sabran Interactive is actually gonna have three more game announcements on
Friday at the Twitch Winter Gaming gathering on like Twitch and that the afternoon or
something. Okay, So that's the stuff that's been publicly confirmed. Then there's
a few things that I've I've heard, been able to pretty much confirm and
seemed like they are going to happen as long as everything has gone right.
And these are things that are I think pretty much locked in. The first
one is hell Blade two. Hell Blade two feels like it is an open
secret at this point. Everyone seems to understand it's going to be there.
That's what I've heard. Everyone I've talked to seems to have heard the same
thing. So I would expect to see gameplay for hell Blade two tonight.
That's something that's been a long time coming. It's something they've wanted wanted to
deliver for a very long time. This is just a showcase for it.
They were aiming for this the entire time, So I think this is going
to be pretty easy for them to hit. The other thing is something we've
talked about I think on this show before. If it wasn't the show is
like before I was doing the show in a similar kind of show, Alan
Wake two, Alan Wake two from Remedy. It's it's been in the works.
It's something that they are actively developing, and they're working with Epic Games
on that, and Epic Games is going to be publishing it and giving them
a really good deal, enabling them to sort of see this creative vision through
because they got such a good deal. Uh, it's I think that's gonna
debut tonight at the Game Awards as well. We'll see, we'll see if
there's exactly what that's gonna look like. It could just be an announcement.
I would be surprised if they would have gameplay. And then there's a list
of Maybes and these ones Star Wars, Jedi Fall in Order two which has
a different name. And I'm not gonna say is it's a big question mark
for me. I'll just say that, like there's a lot of people who
are certain if it both showing up and and it not put me in there,
it's not gonna show up and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. It's
kind of where I'm at with that. I'm gonna say it's not going to
be there, and if I'm wrong that that's fine. But there are people
who are certain it's going to be there, and I'm I mean a lot
of them. So that's why I'm like, I'm so confused on this one.
But hey, that'd be cool to see that. If we don't see
it now, though, we're gonna see it soon. Look, we're gonna
see it early next year, so h yeah, Like we're like, it's
not gonna be a long wait. We'll survive, basically, is what I'm
saying. Let's see BioShock four seems like a maybe, like a strong like
a strong maybe and not in that like, oh, it's like seventy five
percent it's going to be there. It's like, oh, the the the
things are lining up for it to come here. Because we're hearing about the
name, we're hearing about the location and the details and stuff like that,
all that stuff so far. You know, I don't know if the name
is right, BioShock Isolation, that could be right, but the all the
details about like where it's set in Antarctica in the nineteen sixties, a city
in Antarctica. That stuff's all accurate, that stuff's all true. And you
know, one of the reasons we could be hearing about it is because it's
going to show up at this I guess another thing is like, oh,
it could be like a cover story at a magazine next month or something like
that. Maybe that's why we're hearing about it. So I would love to
see that game. I think that would be up there in terms of like
a big reveal for the Game Awards. I mean, of course Jeff Keeley
would want something like that. That would make sense. For Spoken is one
that I think is has a good chance of showing up there. For Spoken
is one of those games that I think gets forgotten about when we start talking
about like what games could show up at something like this, people go to
like Final Fantasy sixteen things like that. But for Spoken is one of the
next big, next big games from Square Ennis. Right, that's that's Square
enixs right, that's not the Capcom one. Capcom one is Pragmata. I
get I get them all confused. And I think that's part of the problem.
Is it's one of the reasons they would want to bring it to something
like the Game Awards, which is gonna have one hundred million viewers, not
counting all the people that are gonna watch the trailers later. It's to help
really define the marketing going forward and say, hey, this is a game
you should care about. I think it's going to show up there. I
also think they're gonna try to do a pretty a fairly progressive sort of take
on the main character. I've heard some things it's not just that, you
know. I think it's you know, it is a person of color.
But I think it might go beyond that. So cool. I don't know.
I'm like, has end up saying exactly what might happen, because I
don't want the reactionaries online to like hear something and then get mad at it
beforehand, especially if it doesn't turn out to be true. I don't want
to cause grief. But we'll see and then Evil Dead the game I think
is a maybe because we on Friday at that Twitch Gaming gathering, the Twitch
Winter Gathering. I think it's the actual name Jeff Keeley, Bruce Campbell,
and Tim Willis who is who used to be at ID and it is now
the creative director creative like chief creative officer or whatever of Saber Interactive. They're
gonna be sitting down for a conversation. And to me, it's like,
Oh, if Jeff Kelly's gonna be having this like long conversation about about the
Evil Dead on Friday, they might be showing a new trailer on Thursday.
That's speculation, its circumstantial evidence, But to me it makes sense, like
yeah, and like it's Bruce Campbell, right, It's Bruce Campbell. It's
Hollywood. Even though it's not like the biggest star in the world, it's
still Hollywood, and he still likes having that those celebrities on there. So
I think that there's a chance that we get more from the Evil Dead at
the Game Awards. And then my wild card is Dave Lang on stage.
I don't know why, I just have a feeling. I feel like it's
it's time. It's time. He's gonna go up on stage and he's just
gonna say when Jammers two is out now, and he's gonna apologize to America
and to the world, to France they care about when Jammers a lot in
France. He's gonna have to come out and apologize that's my it's my wild
card. It's Dave Lang on stage. That's all I got for the awards.
Yeah. I think it's gonna be a fun show whatever. I do
think it's going to be very Hollywood heavy. I didn't like put everything here.
I'd even like in my list, I didn't even list like the Sonic
Movie. I just like, oh, I shouldn't mention that's why they're gonna
have the Sonic Game. But they're gonna have what else did they say?
I'm like struggling to remember because I keep I just like, let it go
out of my brain. But they're gonna have oh yeah, the Halo TV
show. I said that there's like another movie trailer that they confirmed would be
there, And I do think there's a chance we might get stuff like the
Uncharted, another movie trailer for the Uncharted movie, another or the first trailer,
maybe for Super Mario Brothers, and maybe something for the Last of Us
TV show on HBO. Like, I think there's a strong chance one or
all three of those show up here as well. So we'll see, Okay,
one other quick thing before we get to the questions, and keep those
questions coming in. We will get to them. Very soon that Jason Schryer
story at Bloomberg about Halo went through that, and I think that was it
was a pretty fair assessment of how that stuff goes down and how development works,
especially at a big studio like that. My big takeaway from it is
this sounds standard for what triple A blockbuster development is these days. It's really
tough to get a train going, a big train like that, It's very
tough to get it to get it moving in the first place. And if
you move in one direction, then you have to move in a different direction.
It requires a lot of energy, and it's difficult, and it's even
more of a problem because it's people and not trains, and people are not
just like stubborn, but they have like their own hopes and ambitions, and
it's messy and you have to sort of guide people around and it gets,
yeah, it gets it turns into a problem because it's like a human endeavor,
and and then sometimes people get left out. I think that the I
think the most damning thing is this policy that Microsoft seems to have about having
employe these that are contract workers and they work for eighteen months and then either
you have to hire them on or you have to stop working with them,
like it's like a maximum contract length or something like that. And instead of
hiring them on and Brent like bringing in this this what you've built up,
this institutional knowledge over a year and a half, you just let him go
because it's difficult to actually hire them on. It seems like a bad policy.
Seems like something that they could like fix and and make make making games
easier for themselves, uh, and not leave these people behind, like bring
these people on, make them full time employees in one way or the other.
I get that makes games more expensive, but they can afford it.
My I think the My other big takeaway is that because like when I look
at this and I recognize these problems across a lot of studios, that like
that is the shared DNA across all games. Like these problems are inherent to
making big pieces of software that are supposed to sell millions of copies or get
millions of players and need to be these things that can stand up to mass
scrutiny. It's a challenging thing. The hard part though, is doing that
and then also releasing something that people enjoy. And that's like something that Microsoft
was struggling with for a long time, like it was always like this making
you know, recent Halo games. But some of the recent Halo games weren't
really all that liked. I mean, I know, the review scores of
Metacritic a kind of the same. But still I think in the long in
the long run, Halo four and Halo five not two beloved. I think
this game is gonna end up being much more beloved. And that was that's
the hard part. It's like, if you're gonna make people suffer while you
make something, at least make that thing worthwhile. Uh, you know,
ideally no one would suffer. But it's like, you know, why are
we putting ourselves through the ringer if not to make something that people are gonna
love. They do seem to have figured that part out. It's just like,
now that they've done that, they don't stop here. Now look back
and improve your processes so that things so that people don't suffer. And you
have, like, you've proved that you know how to do these games.
Now now go back and show that you know how to make people's lives better.
So hopefully they figure that out as well. Okay, let's get to
the questions. I'm gonna hit the button here, there's the chat. Let's
scroll down. Let's get started. And again, if you want to ask
a question, hit the ask a question button there at the top of the
page. We'll get right to it, starting off with Slain Mick. Awesome.
If you want a game award, who would you want to have it
be presented by? That's a good question. I don't know. Joe Biden,
Now that's not an answer. I think I'd have it presented by Mike
Manati, just just really to rub it in his face that he didn't win
a game award and I did. I would be uh, I'd feel pretty
good about that. Mike Manadi, my co host over on my podcast.
Yeah, I would really, I would enjoy that. I want to make
them feel really small, so I wouldn't want him to have to hand it
over to me, and I would show him make sure you saw that was
my name on there. That would feel real good. That's how I feel
good about myself putting others down from all the dinos. What's the ugliest,
most ostentatious decoration you've put on a lawn Christmas or otherwise? I think we
need to like go more all out. We have a lot up there right
now, we have two ginger We have a gingerbread man at gingerbread woman.
We have a big snowman that's like ten feet tall, and then we have
Frosty the Snowman, who's like six feet tall, and then we have a
Santa who's like twelve feet tall. I don't know. Take your choice there.
I would love to have the twelve foot skeleton. I would love to
have the home depot twelve foot skeleton. That would be very important to me.
I would love to have that, but I don't. All we have
is a bunch of inflatables that are kind of the kind of fit with the
the theme al right from Mighty war Canoo. Who, in your professional opinion,
is the Arby's of game publishers. Please elucidate as to why thank you
and good day. I mean it's Embracer, right, It's Embracer group because
when you go to when you go to Arby's, they mean it when they
say they have the meats, they have all of them. Like, yeah,
you think of the roast beef sandwich or the beef and cheddar, but
you can get a buffalo chicken sandwich. You can get a like a Deli
club sandwich or something with turkey and the Swiss cheese. You can get chicken
strips, you can get like like, you can get everything like they have
all like and it's all pretty good. None of it's triple A like,
none of it's like you're going to a fancy restaurant or something. But it's
gonna be able to give Like if you have a wide variety of taste in
your mini van and you need to get something like something specific for everybody,
Arby's will be able to handle it. And in the same way, Embracer
with like it's like huge, no number of developers at this point would be
able to serve just about any taste. So yes, Embracer is the RBS
of video games, and you could tell them I said that and that that's
a good thing from dude long couch. Do you really think Halo Infinite will
be a ten year platform as three four three has claimed. I think this
is a really interesting question, and you have to wonder what they mean by
that. I think that Halo Infinite multiplayer will be a ten year platform as
they claim, Will the single player campaign be a ten year platform? I
think there's a chance it'll be a platform for a couple of years. I
think there's a strong chance that they will add more content and expand out Halo
Infinite the campaign. But I also think that in three four five years we
will get basically a new release that is Halo Infinite two, where the multiplayer
still basically is the same thing, but then there's like a brand new campaign
that feels like a big step forward. Maybe is like the other side of
the of the zette Halo or something like that, like completely new stuff,
because you know, it'd be like they want to make it feel like a
big release at a certain point, it'll be, you know, pretty similar
to what happened with Destiny, right, I think it'll be pretty similar to
what happened with Destiny, except for the multiplayer side of things. This free
to play thing will continue as the multiplayer platform period. There won't be a
replacement for that, which makes a lot of sense. That's my hunch here
playing through Halo Infinite, and there's some questions about about the game itself,
which I'll get my opinions on again, I'm I like it a lot,
but playing through it, getting through that story, like they started with a
small story that I thought was pretty good. Didn't quite hit all its points,
but it was pretty good. And then they they leave a lot of
questions, a lot of there's a cliffhanger, and there's you know, like
we mentioned, I mentioned the Endless like there's questions there, like you're gonna
there's a lot of stuff you're that we still have to deal with in terms
of the story. And also you like, you really don't explore even that
much of the Zat to Halo. It is like a small strip and it's
like you could just imagine them opening up the next part. It'll be it
being a new biome and kind of letting you go wild in there with a
bunch of new stuf. It could basically be the same game in terms of
structure and what you do with a different biome, new story, and it
would work. And I expect them to do that at least a couple of
times from our line's up. What's the best kind of chili? The best
kind of chili is like, you know, you want something's spicy with some
beans and like the hardy beef, Like, yeah, I mean that's pretty
I guess like torque chili can be pretty good too, But yeah, I
like just like the hardy traditional chili that feels like, you know that you
eat with a big spoon, not really a big I'm not a big spoon
guy, but like, yeah, in your mind that's what you imagine.
But I also like skyline chili. I do, but I'm not gonna have
it on my spaghetti. I don't do it on there. I do it
on a on a dog, on a on a on a coney with cheese
and onions and hot sauce. That's good from Nylock. What is going on
with the in television Amico? So I saw this question and like before we
started here, and I was thinking about it, and I think the thing
with the Amico that you have to keep in mind is, and this is
true of all sort of salt like hardware, like these hardware systems, these
hard hardware platforms they get sold to us right now, the analog pocket,
the what's the crank one? The play date, things like that, even
all the way down to the the Amiko. And I do mean like kind
of all the way down and kind of a negative connotation, but sell it.
Making hardware is very difficult, and you sort of have to promise the
world and you need to get people excited now because it's a big upfront purchase
before they know whether or not they are going to end up liking the thing,
And so you kind of have to be a salesman at all times.
And with Tommy tell Rico and in television Amico got it rhymes, he's out
there selling every chance he gets. And the problem is that it's very transparent
with him, and so we can kind of see through like what he's trying
to do here, and and he's making promises that I think we most of
us know are going to be very very difficult to keep about this being like
a big hit with families and stuff like that. Maybe maybe so there's a
hair in my mouth. I got it. There is a small possibility that
he is going to deliver on this stuff, but it is not something stolen
it there we go. Sorry, it was an eyelash disgusting, I know,
but that's me. Like, it's very easy to see through what he's
trying to do, and so when we look at this thing, we go,
is that thing for real? Like? Are they guy and I actually
deliver? And it's like probably not like your gut reaction to what's happening with
the in television Amiko is probably pretty accurate and so uh like, even as
he's they've made promises, the reality is probably it's very difficult to source these
parts, very difficult to get software ready to go, and it's probably just
not going to be a very good launch for that thing, and it's probably
gonna come and go and fizzle away into into the ether like a lot of
other stuff, does you know. I hope it has a chance. I
hope it's great. It wouldn't hurt me at all if it was great.
I just think, you know, based on my gut reaction to the thing,
I bet that's pretty accurate. That's kind of what I'm saying here.
As for like specifically what's going on with it, it'll probably come out next
year or sometime. I don't know from wayser party. Haven't seen a release
date yet for Final Fantasy six Pixel remaster, but steam page still says twenty
twenty one. Any chance they release it tonight at the Game Awards. I
can't remember if this one was told to me, like this is one I've
never confirmed, but I feel like it was either told to me in a
DM on Twitter or it was said in an embargo, so I should just
be careful and not to say I don't know if it's coming tonight. I
think it's coming soon, though I think i'm for some reason, I want
to say early next year, So that's probably not an embargo. If that's
what I heard, there's a chance. I guess you know the Steam you're
talking about the Steam release Final, Yeah, that's that couldn't happen tonight because
I think what I'm thinking of actually is the Switch release and the console releases,
and I think that's coming early next year. So getting Final Fantasy six
remaster out now would make sense because as soon as like this stuff's on Switch,
people are gonna stop caring about the PC releases from Arc Lightning. Yo.
That Halo fucking slaps hump. Yeah, it's it's real good. It's
I think it's fantastic. It's exactly what I wanted. I think that like
when I made that first preview when I said it was Halo's breadth of the
Wall moment, it was not. That was never necessarily meant to be like
this game plays like Breath of the Wild, or is a Breath of the
Wild. It is much more like this was taking what Halo was and making
it something modern and it absolutely is that, and also doing it in a
way that like serves the fan base still feels like Halo, and it's just
a really good game. And to me, it absolutely is. I I
couldn't stop exploring it. I thought that the progression was simple but fun.
It gave you, like it gives you very basic, very understandable and very
rewarding, sort of intrinsic things to do about, like oh, improving your
character, and then you're like you look at the map, like, oh,
if I go do that, I will improve my game in this way,
Like I just go fight that high value target, I'm gonna get a
better weapon at my fob. Or I got a better enemy weapon at my
fob. If I go help out that group of soldiers that's pinned down,
I will get a better unsc weapon at my fob. If I go around
looking for propaganda towers and basis to take over, I will get valor and
that'll give me better vehicles at my father. It's just very simple stuff,
but it works really well. And it turns out that's just like that planning
stage of like Okay, I can't wait to go do that and then the
thing you go do is play Halo with great gun play, that really heavy
sense of combat where Master Chief feels like he weighs twelve hundred pounds and you
just feel like this mammoth beast. And then also you get a hook shot
now, and you get a grapple shot, and that feels fantastic now as
well. It really makes combat flow even faster, and it gives you a
chance to close distance really quickly, and then you can upgrade it in some
awesome ways and do that melee that goes into that third person camera and it
looks great. It's just super solid all around. I also think it's like
foundational in terms of the future we talked about, like what they could do
next. I think that the future of this, like the next game should
and probably will be much better than even this. If I rated the game
could collectively as multiplayer and a single player, and I gave it five stars,
if I was just ranking the single player campaign, I probably would have
been at four stars. Like that's where I was. That's what I was
telling Mike before. We're like we're gonna rank him together, but like,
yeah, but I think that then whatever they do next that's very strong chance
as long as it's like building on this foundation and just doing more with it,
very strong chance to have a have five stars. And it's like I
also really like that when you go into like you see like the big tower
on the horizon and you go in there and it's not like you're not just
clearing it out. You also like have to go under ground and then there's
like a long Halo style campaign mission inside there. It feels so much like
some more substantial than you were expecting that it makes it feel like, oh,
this world is much more living and breathing that I gave it credit for
just looking at it from the outside. And this stuff isn't just surface deep.
You literally go into the surface and there's more to do. I am.
I really liked it. I'm gonna play it again on PC right now.
I started it again. So yeah, And the thing is it's on
game Pass. I think everyone should try it, and I think it's gonna
be you know, it's not like some of these games like Death Loop where
it's I think it's gonna be kind of divisive where either you love it or
you're like, ah, it's like a seven that's not really a ten.
I think that most people are gonna come out and be like, yeah,
that was great. It's for four or four point five, it's or it's
like an eight or nine. It's gonna be a crowd pleasing game, I
think, and that makes it really ideal for game Pass. All right,
let's see here. Yeah so yeah, but to ja Ja Jaskavik Jeskavic,
Yeah, a Jedi Fallen Order is a big Maybe. I don't think so
personally, but I've heard a bunch of people saying it will be, so
I'll be happy to be wrong if we get to see it. Basically,
maybe Vince Sampello is just gonna be in the audience and tell us the name.
Maybe that'll be what happens, and they'll say we'll see a trailer next
year something like that. Maybe. All right, from casual Dear senior Snacks,
how's this Thursday treating you? Thinking about the upcoming Lego Star Wars game
got me thinking which film would you like to see adapted into a Lego game.
I think Royal Tenembombs or Police Academy Too would be funny as hell,
that's pretty good. I'm like trying to think of like family movies that haven't
been already turned into a Lego game. It feels like a lot of them
have have been already. So yeah, I guess you have to go in
the other direction. I don't know. Maybe RoboCop. RoboCop would be good
any sort of any sort of one of those movies, those eighties action movies
would be fantastic as a Lego game, I think and like. And they
were toys at the time, right, That's how I got introduced to stuff
that was like R rated action movies worked through toys and cartoons about them.
So why not let's get let's get the kids back into R rated eighties action
films. That's what I say from a future creep. Do you think we'll
see more NFTs in games? Or did you Westoft pull a battle Front two?
So here's how I think it's gonna go. I do think, to
a small extent Youbisoft pulled a Battlefront two, and therefore it is I think
it's unlikely that the major publishers that exist now will be putting NFTs into games
that we recognize. What's much more likely to happen is smaller studios will be
creating new games that are not for us that are for other audiences and trying
to trying to make NFTs a thing with investors, and those investors come in
like, oh, I'm gonna play this game instead of something else, and
we never even really hear about it, and becomes a major thing, like
a major player in the periphery. This has already happened, by the way.
There are NFT games in I think Polynesia and the Polynesian Islands, stuff
like that in the Philippines, in throughout Southeast Asia and the surrounding regions that
make a billion dollars a year and they're NFT games, and it's they're crappy
Pokemon clones, like they're really bad games, but they're already making a ton
of money just because of the NFT aspect of it, of people getting stuff,
reselling it, building up the characters, like improving them through play by
like hiring, like hiring local local players that don't make it, couldn't make
a lot of money at a job to play the game, improve these things,
and then they take them back and then they sell them for even more
money. This stuff is happening, and it's just not in the stuff that
we play yet. And it's probably not gonna end up there. It's just
gonna fork off in an opposite it just like you don't probably play a lot
of free to play mobile games, and yet there's a huge audience that does.
It's going to be something like that. That said, I do think
like you, Besoft and EA and Activision will try will either begin acquiring those
companies pretty soon or they will start up their own divisions to separately create these
things outside of where we normally play them. Sorry my nose is it gy
the dug? And do can you explain why the Halo Battle Pass is so
criticized and do you think it will have an effect on the single player campaign
reception? No? I can't explain it. Actually. I mean I get
it to a little bit. It's it's not super fast, and like if
you have to pay some money to get some stuff and people don't want to
pay money, I don't know. I hesitate to criticize the people who are
criticized in the game. That's how you get things to change. And it
isn't perfect, and if you're trying to make the thing more perfect, you
have to you have to tell them what you don't like about it. And
I think that's fine. I think it's fair. Like a lot of the
stuff is fair. It goes over the deep end more frequently for me.
I don't know. I paid some money. I'm happy with it. I
wish I would have just spent the money in a different way. It's not
the end of the world to me, but I'm a privileged from that position.
I don't spend a lot of money on a lot of video games because
they get a lot of them from my job, so it's not like it's
taking budget away from other games I might have bought whatever. But still,
like, at a certain point, I which is like, if you like
are using all these other games as examples of how Free to Play has done,
better, go play those and just say, like at the three fourth
three account at Halo, hey, I'm gonna go play this instead until you
make You're free to Play more like that, and then just make that the
end of it. Go play those games instead. Like still let them know,
still criticize him by just saying make it more like this, but just
don't make it your full time job to complain about it. I don't.
I don't want to complain about the people too much. It's fine, it's
fine, but I don't really I'm enjoying the game. I'm enjoying the multiplayer.
I have not thought about the battle pass all that much. I do
not go to games for battle passes. Battle passes are I get the importance
of them. Getting inside of skinner box and making that part of the of
the progression to like enjoy a game does build a more of a more of
an engagement between the player and the game. I get that, but I'm
I'm also at a point in my life where i just want to kind of
enjoy the game itself. And with Halo Infinite I am that has not been
a problem at all. It is so much fun. I have zero issue
with that. Every time I sit down and play it, I have more
fun than the last time I've played it in the multiplayer because I'm learning stuff,
I'm learning the maps, and I'm getting better at the game. And
so that's just that's where I'm at, where it's like an easy five out
of five experience because it's just so much fun, especially with friends. But
even once you start playing alone, once you learn learn the maps, it's
it's still a lot of fun. So as for will have an effect on
the single player campaign reception. I mean, it seems like it will with
people who are losing their minds about it, Like they're just like looking for
every single thing to complain about because they don't want to let three or four
three off the hook. But I don't know how much of that stuff is
coming from a good faith position like that. It's always it's always difficult to
tell, and I will admit that there's definitely people who have poisoned the well
on that where it's really difficult to tell who is coming from a good faith
position and who's who's arguing in bad faith. From Kane Win from Kane Hinewind.
Oh nine. Were you ever a fan of point and click adventure games,
and if so, which was your favorite. I was never. I
was not a huge fan at the time. The one that I definitely sought
out because of the reviews and it ran on my computer was the Blade Runner
point and click adventure uh game from was it Sierra not Sierra? I can't
remember who made it, but they were They rereleased it recently, and that
was the one where I was like, oh man, that looks awesome.
I gotta try this, and it was it delivered like one I wanted.
There was a section where you used though the enhanced enhance like video screen bang
and it made the thunking sound. Don't don't, don't don't. That's all
I really wanted, and I stayed on that for a very long time.
But it's a good game. I've tried to go back a few times to
Lucas Arts, specifically not so much Sierra. I've gone back to LucasArts games
a few times, and I could see myself getting into them, but I
haven't stuck with any of them so far. But yeah, I don't.
I don't know. Maybe I'll take a recommendation. It's just hard to find
time for games that I want to play right now, let alone going back
to the past. Maybe I could make like a twitch streaming thing out of
it and use that as a incentive to play through a play through some of
them. I wish I would have saw him. I wish I would have
played him at the time. I just was not playing a lot of PC
stuff. I was a little weird Nintendo fanboy when I was a kid.
A kid, so any s Super in E S and sixty four is kind
of all of us playing From Dominito Predictions for announcement to the t GA,
Will we see r E eight DLC or Dragons Dogma two. You know,
these are pretty good guesses. I think I said Dragons Dogma two recently.
For another thing, Dragons Dogma two could show up at any time, because
it's scheduled like according to the hack. The hack, it was supposed to
come out next year, like late next year sometime, So at any point
we could hear about it. I would imagine that it's probably been pushed a
little bit, just because every game has been pulled. But Capcom has also
been pretty good at keeping to its schedule. That said, I bet we
see that at E three and not here. But I would be very excited
to see Dragons Dogment two, and I know a lot of fans would be
too. As for right DLC, I have no idea, just no idea.
What does that make sense right now? I guess it does. It's
like the like they do that now and then have whatever they're at reside Evil
game they're gonna have next year announced maybe early next year. You might have
a point there from Future Creep. Well, Jeff, say something about ACTI
Blizz or you saw for that matter at TGA and I think we got another
question about this, Yeah, Mutton band. Hey, Jeff, thoughts on
Jeff Kwey's comments regarding Activision at the Game Awards. Apologies, I've already covered
I'm asking early, so yeah, no perfect. I am of the opinion
that he will say something. I don't know hill name drop either company or
Riot for that matter, or you know, any of these companies at this
point. I think I was on I was on Naith the show earlier this
week and saying that it was it's about momentum, it's about like we can.
It feels like we could do something about Activision Blizzard right now. And
that's why you're hearing about Activision Blizzard and not about you be Soft, and
not about Yves gel and some of these other companies. And that's why people
want Jeff Keawey to keep the conversation going because he's in a position to do
so. All eyes in the gaming industry will be on him tonight, and
if he chooses to say something, it could have a real effect. It
could. It's a small one, absolutely, but every it's like every little
twist of the notch makes a difference in the end, and even if it's
just encouraging people who were affected, Like the biggest platform at the end of
the year for gaming is saying that this is important and saying that your voice
matters, and if you want to come forward and tell us something that happened,
that might be the you know, the next nail and the coffin for
Codic or whoever else was a perpetrator Activision Blizzard. That's what people are saying
they want. Now, is it his responsibility? I mean, to a
certain point, I think it is. But his job is also to sell
video games, and I think that's that's okay. It's absolutely a position that
is that was open and he took it and he grabbed that brass ring and
he deserves, like to present the show as he wants to present it.
But I do think some responsibilities also come along with that, and I would
like him to do something. I think he will. I don't know if
it'll be perfect, but what is perfect at this point? Nothing's perfect,
so uh as for like what he said so far, and yeah, but
basically what I just said that, like, what people want is to keep
this momentum going. And and when people say something like oh, well,
you know, everyone forgets about Ubisoft, So why are you still so stuck
on activision? And again it's about like it does feel like we could do
something now, And you know, I associate this with what it feels like
trying to do something about gun violence right now, where it feels like no
matter what we do about that, like nothing's ever gonna change, And at
least I feel very hope, hopeless about that right now. And so I
don't blame anyone who's just tuning it out for their own mental health, because
at a certain point, it's like when you feel that helpless, it can
only hurt, like be like this site like this psychic damage on you because
you know what is happening is wrong. You know it's hurting innocent people,
and that everyone should want to do something about it, and yet nothing ever
changes. And it's like that's a a a stew for depression and sadness and
a lack of faith and humanity and U And if you feel that way about
what's happening in the games and games industry, I don't blame you, because
it does feel helpless to a certain extent, where no matter what we no
matter how many stories come out, no matter how many people leave the industry.
It still feels like this stuff keeps happening. But change is is slow,
and it's it's it's a messy process, and it's difficult, and it
happens. It's small, small increments, even if we do want it to
Even if incrementalism is sort of the enemy at a certain point, it still
happens that way. It still happens incrementally. And so any sort of weight
on the side of justice, any sort of an extra thumb, even if
it's a tiny little thumb, Jeff Keeley's baby, little tiny thumb pushing down
on the scale of what's right. It's just that's what we want and it's
not. I don't think it's too much to ask. We'll see from slam
Nick awesome. Also, what's the best snack to eat? At one thirty
am while watching Jeff's special game Extravaganza. I think you want to like you,
you gotta have like a combination stop. I think you should have popcorn.
I think you should have a beer. Then I think you want something
to offset that, that the saltiness, and that the dehydration that's happening there.
And I think a good thing might be a watermelon watermelon would be really
good. It's like a snack to be like, you know, a taste
great, and it's it's like so jam packed with water or that it's going
to make sure that you don't wake up with a headache the next day.
And it's just good for you all around. It's good, good for your
blood. You know, it gets blood into your extremities and stuff like that.
Watermelon's good for you. So I that's like a good combination there,
not at the same time, but like as a break between like your your
last beer and you're in the thing of popcorn and that's how you do it.
From a zecrets. Hey s next, man, what's the best starter
Pokemon of all generations? So yeah, I did a video on this with
Mike where we did a tier list of all this the Pokemon starters from all
the generations. So you can check that out if you want. But if
I had to like recall, like I mean, for me, it was
probably like Charmander or whatever. I mean. I played the first games the
most, and so that's the one I've chose, and I like Charmander a
lot because fire is cool. That was my thought process. I think we
can all admit it was most people's thought process, but I like I like
pip Up. I like pip Up a lot too. The problem is like
I almost never liked the final forms of any of them, except for chart
Manner, who was pretty coolest, was it chars Ard? Yeah, that's
pretty cool people in chat liss Sobel Okay, So I go back and forth
on Sobel. He feels emotionally manipulative. Looking at him makes me feel like
when my kid is trying to pretend that she's sad so that she can get
something from me. But also he's very cute. Architech Fire is cool.
Yeah, thank you for being on my side on that feature. Grape,
What did you get Mike for his birthday? I got him a train set
version of an Arby's from Menard's. He posted on Twitter and I just bought
it for him right away. It was like, it's a train scale size
Arby's and I guess you put it next to the train tracks or something like
that. He doesn't have a train set, although he's He kept telling me
it's like he might get into it now. But if you look in the
background out of this thing when we do our show, you could see this
little Arby thing. It looks fantastic. It looks really cool, and I'm
like glad that it looks that cool because it was it wasn't inexpensive from Brono
Trigger Good name is the Keiley Surprise just going to be Cojima's next game.
So yeah, I didn't mention this. I've mentioned it before, but we
should keep repeating it because it's like the stuff never goes away once it's like
suggested once. I do not think. I'm pretty certain certain that Coojima's thing
with Xbox will not be at this thing. Does that mean Coojima won't be
there. I think Cogima will be in the audience. Does that mean Cogima
won't have anything? No, he could have another game, you know,
It's always been a possibility. I mean, I don't I don't think it's
abandoned. It's probably not abandoned, but he could have something else by now
going on. I know that the negotiations for for what's happening with Microsoft are
still ongoing, and you can probably expect to hear about that sometimes next year.
But even once that does, like once that deal is completely like closed.
You know, we talked about negotiations they're never really done. But once
things are signed and it's like we are doing this one. Even at that
point, the game will be very early, so they might hold off on
telling us about it for quite some time, just depending on how they want
to roll it out. We'll have to see, all right, From dude
long Couch, why did you make fun of my mom this morning? That
hurt my feelings? So they discovered a massive planet that shouldn't exist, and
I joked that they found you all's moms, And I'm sorry. I shouldn't
have done that. I woke up in a bad place. And then now
I'm doing grubs next with you all, and I feel much better, and
I apologize. I apologize to your mother and to you, Dude long Couch,
and everyone else who was affected by my terrible joke from talking but by
doof talking, budof budoof If you were a character and to beat him up
or metroid Vania, what would your health story and food be? What would
be you're comfortable eating out of a mailbox? What would you be comfortable eating
out of a mailbox? Or a brick that you punched? Probably some candy.
I got a terrible sweet tooth hot Tamali's the hot Tomite candies. I
guess if it's like if it has to be like health restoring, it's probably
not candy, though in my brain it's probably like a burrito, and a
burrito that is even like half still in the aluminum foil. I would be
comfortable eating that out of a brick. So that's where I'm at. That's
where I'm at emotionally right now. From Upper Nut, Hey, Jeff Hopeball
is good? What's up with the Dentaton? They haven't put out anything since?
Or what's up with Dentaton? They've put out anything since Hotline Miami two
and twenty fifteen. I don't know. I haven't looked into it. I
haven't heard anything. I don't know. Are they still going concern? You
know, there's always a chance, that chance that maybe things, you know,
sort of splinter out into their own things after a big hit, So
you never know. I haven't looked. I'm sorry for a final Dosta.
Rumors that Fable will be at the g Gas tonight if it does appear,
is there any chance that it's a twenty twenty two game. I've heard the
rumors. I don't know. I would be surprised if Fable was there,
but it's not out of the realm of possibility. I think that if it's
there, that still doesn't mean it's a twenty twenty two game. I think
it's it could mean it's an early twenty twenty three game, though the Fable
is definitely on that list of games that Microsoft was targeting for twenty twenty three.
My understanding for twenty twenty two is still Starfield, Forts a Motorsport eight,
Redfall, and then Partner Partner games and Day one game Pass games like
Stalker two, and there's a handful of Brothers. We'll get grounded one point
zero in twenty twenty two. I'm trying to think there's anything else I've forgotten.
Those are the highlights I think there. I guess there's always surprises and
the things that one of my blind spots maybe was was Bethesda, So maybe
like a Bethesda studio might have something, but a lot of them as far
as I wear, pretty busy with stuff that's still far off, but you
know, Fable wouldn't be one of those, so uh, I don't know.
I think Fable's early twenty twenty three at the earliest. From Fish zero
nine. Do you think we'll get some more info on dragon Age or mass
Effect tonight? No? No, no, I don't think we'll get either.
Maybe dragon age, but probably not. I meant to look into this
actually, and I think I'm still gonna I'm still gonna try to get some
impro and dragon Age, but we'll see. It'll take some time. That
said, I think I don't think he's gonna have a big presence tonight.
I could be wrong about that, but just like off the top of my
yeah, I think I don't think either one's going to be there, But
I could be wrong. We'll see. Kenny Myers, what is going on
with sports story? The same thing goes on with every sequel to a successful
indie game. They just say they balloon an ambition and they imagine the best
possible game that it could be, and then when they try to execute on
that, it's more work than they were expecting. And yet they still don't
want to give up on it because a lot of these people are but they
want to deliver what their fans are expecting. And I think that's exactly what
they said last time about like, oh, you know, we were building
out the tennis game and it just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger and
bigger, and we want to see it through. Like they only get one
chance to like launch these games right and it's like they're not going to go
back and immediately make sports story story too. That would be something that would
take a long time after that. So it's like they want to get it
right now. And it's the same thing that's happening with Silk Song. They
want to get it right now. So I don't blame them, you know,
Cupheads, cup Heads Mansion, same thing there, Like they're it's just
gonna take a long time. It's the sort, it's just the way these
games work now, So I would I would expect it maybe late next year,
hopefully sooner, but it'll come. It'll still come. UFO fifty is
another one where it's like, yeah, we heard about that years ago,
we should be getting that, but like they just want to make it perfect.
So in the end, it's like the right thing to do because we
all, like the reason we anticipate these games is because they actually did this
with the first games. We just didn't realize it because we weren't anticipating them,
but they waited in iman Cuphead we knew, like, but like,
think about what how long Cuphead took. And if you look at like Hollow
Night in all these games, that's like I mean the Last Night, which
is not which had some issues because of its uh it's a creator being involved
with gamer Gate or supporting gamer Gate. In twenty fourteen, he now renounces
that stuff publicly. You know, you never know if you could trust that
sort of thing. But that's what he says. But like he's a perfectionist,
and that's why we haven't seen that game in years, and yet it's
still in the works. They're still making it. That's just a lot.
That's what all happens with all of these projects. Really from Voice Inject,
which video game Ninja would make the best Uber Eats Driver, I'll say,
trying to think of another Ninja, I guess I'll just go with the what
was it real Hyabasa from Ninja Guiden. I don't know. He seems quick.
I guess the all ninjas are quick. Tenshu is Tenshu the name of
the ninja. He would be very good because he runs across roofs, roofs,
roofs. I'm from the Midwest and can't say that word very well.
Yeah, I'll go Tenshu if that's his name from Esteban eighty six twelve.
Hey, Jeff, any word on a g T A four remaster? I
think that maybe, but they are probably gonna step back from announcing that until
they know it's perfect. So yeah, I haven't heard that one way or
the other yet, but it's possible. It's definitely something that would probably sell
well. But the reason they would want to put it out again is if
they could sell it for like forty to sixty dollars. And that's gonna mean
it needs, you know, a significant over like a passing by of artists
and upgrades. They can't just do the the you know, the the AI
thing on it again and call it a day, like if they'd have to
do all the work that they're doing to the definitive edition of the GTA Trilogy
now before they released it from Rosif what's the weirdest thing you heard? I
mean, here are all kinds of weird stuff, but about video games.
Oh, I can't say it the weirdest thing I've heard. Let me see
if there's a way to talk around it. The person that told me is
afraid to say it. Too so so, and if it ever gets confirmed,
I'll make sure they he gets the credit. You know who I'm talking
You know who I'm talking about. If you're probably watching, it's a Muso
game with a character you wouldn't expect, or based on a property you wouldn't
expect. I don't know if it's real. The sources that it comes from
Square it's real. If it is, it'll be very funny, though,
I'll sell that's the weirdest thing. I'll just say that for more. Jeff,
Hey, Jeff's Microsoft planning any more Tactics games, either a sequel to
Gears Tactics or something like that using one of their properties. Probably they'll get
back around to doing stuff like that, but I think they want to focus
on games that feel like big blockbusters for a while, because they were filling
in some gaps with these Tactic Tactics games for a while. But but those,
you know, Gears Tactics was pretty well received, and I think there's
a chance that they might go for a Gears Tactics too or something pretty soon.
But it's it's not like a high, super high priority where it's like
we've got to get back to those tactics games from Malikans Jeff, any chance
of a new Burnout game in the future pretty slim. It seems like a
need for speed just turns out to have a much bigger fan base. People
hold a torch for need for speed in a way that I never really understood,
and so and you know, and each different kind of need for speed
has a huge fan base, Like people want another Underground, people want another
Hot Pursuit. But there's people who just love need for speed, like it's
almost like part of their identity. And Burnout, while beloved, actually doesn't
have that same passion among like a wide casual audience, surprisingly, which is
why EA keeps going back to the need for speed to the exclusion of Burnout.
And I think that's going to keep happening from our rules, Hi,
Jeff, what's the ETA on the upcoming open World game? And a Star
Wars the Star Wars but not Star Wars type setting. Our creators from embark
the largely x Dice studio. It feels like they have all the trappings of
a Triple A studio, but none of the hype. Yeah, who acquired
them? Was it Nettie's or next son? Let's see let's look it up
next son. I'm just gonna I'm gonna guess next on next Son and then
Embarks Studios next time, will fully acquire Embark Studio. So, and that's
from venture beat dot com, games Beats, games Beat, adventure beat dot
com. That is the studio there like hasn't released anything, right and but
the but but there is so much money out there that they have. They
are a triple A studio in terms of their footprint. I think they have
something like two hundred and fifty employees or something like. Now. It's a
massive studio and they're working on multiple games. They're working on I think two
or three games is what they What they told me when I talked to him
not too long ago, and I talked to him because I was asking about
Arc Raiders actually and uh, and it was like, oh, yeah,
so what's going on. We're working on this thing, We're gonna on this
thing. We're on this thing. Uh, you know, we're our creators
is well, you know we're nowhere near announcedent here we are there announced it.
So that wasn't exactly the case, was it? But I think that
will I really don't know what to expect from our creators. That trailer.
That teaser trailer looked really weird. It kind of looks fortnitey to me in
terms of the way that it moved, But like that was based on a
two second clip. I don't know. I do think that that, Like,
if you are a massive studio trying to make a game that can make
the most money possible under a next On brand, like under the next On
publishing label that's gonna want it to be a global, worldwide, free to
play hit, you probably are looking to Fortnite as the as the as the
game plan there, and that means something that is very easy to add a
wide variety of skins onto basically is what I mean by that. And that's
something that's also sort of bright and colorful and easy to parse visually, so
it can work on smartphones and can work on PC's and consoles or whatever.
Can basically work on any device even if you have to turn down the graphics
settings. The bright, simple geometry will make it still very easy to understand
when you're playing it. That's what I imagine that the game is going to
be. We will find out more tonight, though, so we'll see.
And you said, what's the ETA on yes, so, and I don't
know, you said upcoming it's an open world game and a Star Wars but
not Star I mean, maybe there's more single players stuff too it I don't
know, or maybe it's a co op open world game or something like that,
but I think the ETA is probably next year. Another one from Kane
High Winds zero nine. Remember that Gears of War funko game. If not,
I'm just reminding you about it. I did forget until you reminded me
about it, And I'm like, do I still have that on my phone?
I might still have that on my phone. From voice Inject, What
are the chances a Marvel Fighting game releases in the next twenty four months?
It's not zero. It feels like it's there's like it's the kind of thing
that just could happen. Whether or not involves Capcom is a huge question and
probably is zero. But but if if not, or you know, if
it's not a Capcom game, I think there's a chance that someone else could
be making one. I don't think it's I don't think it's another realm.
But yeah, all right, how are we doing? Oh wow, we've
been going an hour? All right? We go, let's get into some
more of these questions. Like, I'm looking at the scroll bar here and
I'm only a third of the way up, so I'll answer a few more
down here, and then i'll jump to the top and if you want to
ask your question again, you can. I'll get it. Just maybe hold
off on that a second until I get up there from the pizza baron what's
next? Will you eat during the game awards? I prefer a snack mix
with sesame sticks, so I'll be I'll be streaming it and I'll be writing
at the same time, so I'll be on my keyboard a lot, so
nothing greasy. It'll be dinner time for me. My wife might bring me
down dinner. But if I had to pick a snack like pretzels or something,
something that's like dry and easy and won't cause a mess and still like
gives me that dopamine rush that keeps my brain from falling apart. So something
like that from Mike Acid Any Classics Sega revival is happening. I'm still amazed.
Sega still sells jet set radio merch on their official store, but no
new game. Oh yeah, they've They've said explicitly that they intend to do
more revivals, more to bring back more games that you consider classic Sega and
what like when does that start, Like what is the timeline on that.
That's still up in the air, but I would imagine it's gonna start very
soon. We could hear about it at something like the Game Awards, but
you know, at the very least we'll be hearing about it by summer.
You know, time goes by so fast, like we're like, oh,
the Game Awards is like this is when people got to announced stuff. Right
now, companies are still looking ahead to EAT three and they're like, oh,
that's only six months away basically, you know, six seven months away.
The planning for like six months from now would be like what early,
Yeah, by then you have to have it locked in. And really,
when you are planning out your marketing plan, if you're a big company with
a lot of money to spend, it's easy to say, well, we
should just wait for that and do our planning, you know, for E
three time when people will really be paying attention. Even if this does have
hundreds of millions or one hundred million viewers this year, like still they're looking
forward to E three as well. From vicam zero seven. Any word on
the mass Effect three multiplayer for the Mass Effect Legendary Edition? What about multiplayer
and mass Effect for I've said this before. There were no plans before released
for a mass efectorree multiplayer to come to the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. I
think they're thinking there was if you want to play the multiplayer that's still available
to you in Mass Effect three right now, and there is a group of
people who are still playing that and probably would not respond well to being moved
to the new one, And and then that would require a lot of effort
to make sure that everything poured it along, to make sure no one lost
any progression, to make sure that people uh, and and then and then
you have to maintain this whole new thing instead of just keeping the cost of
maintaining the old thing, which are easy to understand and don't have a lot
of headaches involved. It just makes sense to keep keep them, you know,
just keep it there, and if you want to play it, go
back and play it there. Ask for a multiplayer and mass Effect for I
would expect it. It did really well for them, so and the world
would be even more open to it now than it was then. So yeah,
I would expect it from Crypsim Papillon. Uh Hi, Jeff, do
you think the plan was always to have no Activision Blizzard announcements at the game
awards tonight or do you think things changed specifically because of the actie blizz terrible
nous. I think that Jeff Kelly coming out and saying Activision Blizzard be involved
was kind of like, well, no shit, what are they going to
have called Duty Vanguard just came out? They don't really need to advertise war
Zone anywhere because war Zone sort of sells itself, like the people you need
to sell it to or the people playing war Zone. And then the Blizzard
games just got delayed even though they didn't have a date, so there's no
way they were going to show them here. They didn't show them at blizz
Con. Why would they show them here? And then what other game does
Activision have it? Like? Of course there was nothing from Activision Blizzard,
So I don't know him just come out and kind of felt like, I
mean he didn't exactly say like, oh, I told him they couldn't come,
but it still sounded like a little bit like taking credit for something that
just sort of naturally happened from Bane fire Lord, what's up with Leslie Benzi's
thing? Everywhere or whatever it's called it is, it's every It's everywhere or
everything. Everything's a different game, right that came out already. No idea.
It sounds like it's gonna be pretty massive, probably gonna take a few
years more even than now, but or maybe maybe it'll shadow drop tonight.
I have no idea. I'll look into it. It's the kind of thing
where flight like, you know, if I ask about it, they could
probably give me some info and I'll see what I can find out about it.
For Black Heart Vinyl. Do you know if Arc Raiders is still planned
to be free to play? They had mentioned that way back at twenty nineteen.
I do believe it's still free to play. They're definitely working on a
free to play game, That's what they told me, and I think that's
one of them. Yeah, from Secrets, what will it takes to be
called? If it no long if it's no longer to call be called it
takes two, I think they're gonna call it Iron Brigade. So yeah,
that's a little joke for people who've been paying attention a long time. They'll
just they're not gonna make them change the name. That would be a wild
thing to do. They don't need to do that. No one's gonna confuse
it Takes to the video game with Take to the Corporation, I guess you
say. But investors are very dumb. There's just no way to invest in
the video game. It takes two other than to buy it. And even
like, even if there's an investor that's that does oh I'm gonna go buy
this video game and now i own a stock of Take two, that person
doesn't deserve to have any money, So that's fine. But yeah, they're
not gonna they actually probably are not going to make them change the name.
It's just kind of working backwards from that. All right, Black Heart Vinyl
project Bell Free Tonight, Yeah, which was the Bell Free is the one
I talked about. It's like, honestly, really difficult to keep all the
code names straight in my head. That is the one that is. Yeah,
this is the Belfries the Tower, and yeah, we're not gonna see
it tonight. I don't think No Bane fire Lord is allan wake to the
same game as Control to Uh No that I get While you're I get while
you're going down that route, But Alan Wake two is probably not the same
game as Control too, even if they might have a lot of crossover.
I mean, we'll have to see. You gotta keep in mind that the
Remedy universe could expand beyond these two games, because they're also making that Crossfire
X campaign, Like, is that really Controlled two could be? You have
no idea from us A sneak, sneak snake from s snake hold on mister
Snacks Happy Holidays in advance? Will you be wearing a Santa skin purchased on
a game like Battlefield twenty forty two for the occasion. I will definitely be
rocking the Santa suit in Hitman three at some point before the Christmas time.
That is the Christmas game I'm most wanting to play right now. It's hit
Man three. They're they're doing a great job of supporting that game, and
I can't wait to go back to play some more of it. From par
Dallas, Hey, Jeff, do you think Square could have done more about
the current Final Fantasy fourteenth server congestion or the constant increase of players was just
too much? I don't. I just don't think there's much they could have
done. They you know, they knew there was gonna be a huge increase
of players, and even knowing that, you know, it's like, I
guess, I don't know how their server or infrastructure works. They probably are
running on some third party cloud to some extent, But even then, it's
not like that capacity is going to be there endlessly for that game. And
it's not always about capacity at a certain point, it's about the software and
the way the network connects to one another. And there are much smarter people
than me that can explain why this is inevitable, even if something like Halo
Infanty can come out and have a huge number of players on day one,
And withstand that barrage. Square Knicks is not Microsoft, the Square Knicks does
not own Azure. It is different, and I don't for me, I
think there's not much they could have done from Shelby Villain, not game Award,
not game Awards related. Do we know what Monoliths Soft is working on
besides Breadth of the While too? I don't. Well, yeah, they're
they're making it play Chronicles three right right, that's uh, let me see
monolith Soft Zeno Blade Chronicles Free You guys actually might be able to hear my
typing. I'm not sure. Uh yeah, yeah, I mean that's they're
they're almost certainly working on that game, and that game could get announced tonight
if Nintendo is there, and it's not to show the Super Mario Brothers movie
trailer. It's probably the show off Zeno Blade Chronicles three. That game's coming.
That's like when one of the next big Nintendo games coming that has been
announced. Okay from casual, which down pinball game? Would you turn into
a pinball game? I would I would like a real deal metroid actual pinball
machine table. That would be fantastic. I think that would be you can
make that atmospheric and moody and do a lot of cool stuff with her abilities,
and like try to like make the analog for that with an analog machine.
I think that would be fantastic. All Right, I'm dripping to the
top of the questions and I'm gonna work my way down, but if you
send in new ones, I'll catch them. So if you if I just
skipped over your question and you're still here, ask it again and we'll go
for at least a few more minutes. At we're at a seventy minutes into
the recording, go for a few more minutes by kids being good up there,
So let's keep going. From Helen Quinn, this feels like a long
shot, But have you heard anything about Fumittu, Ueidas and slash gin designs
next game. It's been a while since that company started, and I know
last year Epic announced they were Funny development, So I do expect a lot
of these Epic published games to have an appearance tonight. Also, I think
Ueida was out on social media or something teasing something recently, and so circumstantially,
yeah, it's happening. No, please don't, please don't print that.
I have no idea, but I think, yeah, I think there's
a strong chance that could happen. Like why not, Like Uaida is not
going to be in charge of publishing, but if they're something ready to in
charge of marketing, if there's something ready to show and cancel this relationship with
with the Game Awards, I think it might be a sponsor. Why not
like use that to like get get one hundred million eyeballs on this game that
they're publishing, and to help point out the fact that this is going to
be a game on the Epic Game Store. To me, a lot of
that stuff lines up, you know, if it's ready, if it's not,
who knows when it shows up? All right, I got a bunch
of questions coming in now, all right, this will work? From Krips
and jest or any rumors of legacy of Kaine's Soul Reaver returning my dreams would
be Amy Hennig leaning leading it again. No rumors. I feel like it's
something that will happen eventually, but I haven't heard that it's going to be
like the next big thing to come back or anything like that from Nableff.
Hey, Jeff, I'm in Denver and had Blue Pan pizza last night.
Great Detroit style. Have you ever had it? If not, check it
out. I have not. I'll have to check it out now. Is
this is it real Detroit style or is it the fake Detroit style where they
say the sauce goes over the cheese, Because that's that's a dirty lie.
That is not Detroit style at all. Detroit style just is a pan deep
dish with the the you know, the high crust and and then the top
is just like classic pizza. So but I'll try it. Blue Pan pizza.
I'll look into it. I'm actually going into the city tomorrow, so
I'll see about it. From Kane, I win zero nine. Is Mario
Party a game of skill? No? Absolutely not, it is, okay,
I mean, you can get pretty good at the mini games, but
even like even doing that does not guarantee anything. That's the thing, Like,
you can get good at the mini games, and that I think it
increases your chances slightly, just in the same way that you can get good
at poker and increase your chances slightly, like over fifty percent, right,
And I think it's probably like one of those ones like if you had to,
like if you could win money playing Mario Party, I think legally they
would define it as a game of skill, but just barely like fifty one
percent game of skill, like one of those things from Drumada. As a
fellow Michigander and at the risk of stoking the world's small fighter fire American or
Lafayette, provided you've had either, I've not. I don't know what this
is in reference to now. I lived at Michigan from when I was born
until I was about fifteen, and then we moved to all Ohio and I
lived there from like fifteen till like thirty at thirty one, and then I
moved to Denver since then. So no, I don't know what this is
reference to, Sorry Borie. Will we see anything from Kim Lavine? I
don't know. Maybe I've not heard anything definitive about that. Nicholas men not
expecting any Sony stuff tonight. I talked to about this on Nate. They
hate the timing for Sony stuff is not great because they've announced a lot of
major games that we know about that they haven't released yet. Right we got
Grand Rosina seven, God of War, and Horizon all still have to come
out, and they've already announced them. Now we are getting close to Horizon
where maybe they could start making more promises about the future. But I think
they're gonna announce anything or have anything. It's much more likely that they are
going to try to sell us on games that we are that we already know
are coming. Ghost Wire Tokyo is a maybe for me, it makes a
lot of sense, But there's like, I don't know, maybe some other
stuff along those lines. Maybe maybe just something for Horizon at this point out
of the commercial for Horizon would be pretty good, but there's like games that
would like we keep forgetting about, like for Spoken is the one way?
Isn't that a Sony exclusive? So I forst Spoken is the Sony thing that
I would actually expect the most. So I know that's a score X published
thing, But as far as Sony Interactive Entertainment published games, maybe one of
those new studios that they've acquired, maybe we get something like that from one
of those studios, I don't know, or maybe we hear about the multiplayer
for the Last of Us factions. Finally, from sev word, how much
food do you eat off the floor every week? I don't know, like
maybe a quarter of a pound of food off the floor. My daughter gets
on my plate and tries to eat some of it and then drops it,
and I'm like, well, I'm not gonna waste that, So yeah,
how about a quarter pound? I say it's good for you builds up your
immune system. From Azure Gale, how much salt do you expect to see
from the game Awards results? I mean, yeah, some if metri dread
winds. I expect to see quite a bit from from like Tasteless Neanderthals.
Uh, but yeah, we'll see from HP craft work. Any news on
Dark Tide? Uh No, sorry, I'm like Dark Tide? Is that
a Warhammer thing? I feel like it's a Warhammer thing? Dark Tide?
No, it's recording to this. It's it looks like a porno. Oh
yeah, Warhammer, Warhammer Dark Tide forty k. Where did it go?
It is the first YouTube result from one month ago. And to that question,
Nan yours, I don't know. I'll look into it. Slam the
gossam, I keep forgetting the game awards have actual awards. Yeah, I
mean it's not about that. It's really not. And and you really it's
fun as a conversation with your friends, it's not fun as a conversation with
randoms on the internet because that's almost never in good faith. And so yeah,
let's let's all try to avoid that tonight, Like keep it with like,
get on Discord and discuss it with people that you know are just there
to have a good time and are like you want to discuss the games themself,
And if a third favorite game doesn't win, they're like, well,
I still like that game, and that's what matters, because that's what actually
matters. Luther Jennings, We've talked about some of the kiddo's gifts. But
what do you want for Christmas? I want a ski lift pass to snow
shoe. What is the one? It's snowmass? Is that what it is?
Snowmass Aspen? I want to ski lift past the snowmass in Aspen.
That rhymed again as well. They have the longest trail in Colorado, like
five point one kilometers or five point one miles or something like that. Uh,
And that's my ideal. It's like it's just kind of a leisurely long
trail. Then I could just take the ski lift up, hike over the
trail, and then just go down for like twenty minutes. And yeah,
that's what I want. I want to go over and my wife doesn't ski.
My kids are too young, but they might come out with me.
But even if I were to go out by myself, that would be an
ideal way to spend a day for me. So that's what I want.
And then also like anything to do with the Red Wings or Mario, like
like apparel not like uh, I guess like maybe maybe like chotchkeys, maybe
maybe posters, maybe artwork, but ideally like just like big sweaters. I
like big sweaters having to do with the Red Wings, Lions Michigan, things
like that roasted ski lift past the snowmass and some mass and some grass.
All right, let's keep going up. We're almost through these new questions,
and when we do that, let's let's be done for the for the show.
I'm having a good time, but we should wrap it up pretty soon.
From Mighty mancho Levin, Hey, Jeff, first time joining live.
Thanks for doing so. I really appreciate when people show up for the first
time live. A few weeks ago, you said Guardians of Galaxy hadn't sold
well enough to warrant a sequel. Any updates on the numbers for it.
I bought it on Black Friday sale and love it so far. I do
imagine that it probably got a significant bump from those Black Friday sales and word
of mouth. But if you are someone at Square Knicks looking at h looking
at a you know, a spreadsheet, and you're like, oh, we
had to drop it down to this price to get up to this sales number,
and we don't like that so much when we when we're looking at green
lighting a sequel. I do think that the word of mouth and stuff,
and especially if it, like if it wins the award tonight for Best Narrative,
those things do increase its chances of getting a sequel. But my gut
right now is telling me that those first week sales were enough to sort of
squash those hopes at square Enix. I think at another publisher, maybe I
think it's Square Enix. That's what they're gonna They're gonna focus on that,
They're gonna hyper fixate on it, and that's I mean. I'm telling this
as part of because I ended up really liking it at Eth Poyne Halo Infinite.
I'm like, oh, this is a game that I love, and
I was just really liking Guardians of the Galaxy. But I did really like
it. It was it was fine in terms of its gameplay, and I
really in the end, I was enjoying spending time with the characters and them
never showing up turned into a feature for me by the end, again,
because the character's perspectives are so strong that it was like you just feel like
you're learning and something about them every time they open their mouth, and it
worked for me. And I think that they could do they could keep those
characters knowing and get a lot of money out of putting all the effort into
building the art assets for the first game by making a sequel. But I
just I don't know if they're going to see the benefit of it themselves because
it's squaring next. Let's find out what happens with the next MPD. If
it's if it like jumps up on the MPD, then maybe then maybe if
it stays kind of level or drops down, if it drops out of the
top ten, if it drops out of the top twenty, there's not a
chance, so we'll have to see, and it could easily drop out of
the top twenty even with all those sales, because that's ranked by dollar amount
and that's what they care about. From permanent side, do you think a
lot of stuff will be added to Death Loop once it's exclusivity ends, like
some improved expanded version for game Pass? Yeah? Yeah, I do actually,
because they Arcane's good about that stuff. They've added a lot of stuff
to all their games, and they will want to make a big deal that
come into game Pass. Absolutely, all that stuff will probably come to the
PlayStation version as well, but they will do something for game Pass when it
launches from Sigar Mick from Sigar mech, I'm sorry any idea of an upcoming
announcement of Warner Brothers monolitht next game. Shadow of Mortar was twenty fourteen,
Shadow of War was twenty seventeen. Nothing to announced that I'm aware of.
I think the last time I talked about this, I got people so hopes
set for a Lord of the Rings game that's actually probably not happening. I
don't know. My hope right now, and this is just a hope,
is that they're working on a matrix game that's going to get announced tonight.
Wouldn't that be cool? I have no idea, Seriously, I have no
idea, but I think that there's a small chance that when they were looking
around it like what what big property do we have that would make a good
game that you know that we're investing in on the movie side matches up right?
That would be cool? But I have no idea. People, I
keep asking this, and I keep having no idea. I'll keep looking into
it, but it's uh. It's one that's kind of like a black box
for me right now. Black Hard Vinyl Multi Versus character revealed tonight. That's
a good point. And now that Smash Brothers is over, These other character
platform or games can sort of take on that mantle, and why not why
not multi versus? Uh yeah, let's just say yes. Let's just see
yes from now on, no matter what's happening, any event a multi versus
character reveals there from casual. Why is the Game Boy Colors Legacy so mad?
I mean because it was like a really short lived because it was not
a real console. It's just a revision. It's like saying that the New
DSi legacy is mad. Now it's just part of the DS, just like
the Gameboy Color is part of the Game Boy. You know, it's more
of its own thing than the DSi absolutely, Mike, I know. But
it's still just a game Boy. And when you look at it in that
way, it's like, oh, it's a really good improvement to the Game
Boy. And I love the Game Boy Color. I am that that.
I think it's Grid or whatever is this company that takes the pieces of electronics
and explodes it for like an art display, and they wanted me to like
write about it. I'm like, guess, I'm not gonna just like write
about your thing unless I could see it for myself. And like see if
it's like a high quality thing, and because it's like one hundred to two
hundred dollars to two hundred fifty dollars spending on the piece of electronics that you're
getting, and like, Okay, well we'll send you one out and you
could write about that and you know, and then you know, I'll send
it back when I'm done. It's a Game Boy color though, because that's
the one I chose, because I just like looking at the Game Boy color.
It looks cool, the curved back and everything to like have the battery
the battery pack in the back, and I don't know just everything about it.
The like the purple color that they used, it was fantastic. That's
the one I had. I even liked like the IR receiver on the top,
which I never used for anything. I'm like, oh, it just
looks high tech. But as like, as far as its own platform,
and the Game Boy color is just not much there because it's was never meant
to really be its own platform. It was meant to be an extension of
the Game Boy from Nablith. They throw the sauce on top of the cheese
by default, but they were super nice to have a few pies under it
with it under the cheese. Oh and they even have Fago for a Michigan
package. Okay, yeah, that's I'll try it still, But that's not
Detroit style. Detroit style is Little Caesars and Jets pizza with the cheese on
top. It's just you know, a deep dish pam pizza made in that.
Certainly, the thing about Detroit style pizza is has nothing to do with
the cheese of the sauce. Really, that stuff has to be high quality.
Absolutely, it's about caring about the crust. A lot of pizza places
like New York Pizza is like the crust is an afterthought, it does not
matter. And with Detroit style pizza, it's like, let's make the crust
really crunchy and flavorable and excellent and and be kind of like this combination of
thick and thin where you get that crunch of a thin pizza, but then
it's like substantial and flavorful like a thick like a like a deep dish.
And it's that's what really sets it apart. And if you haven't added Detroit
style pizza, if you if there's a Jets Pizza near you tried Jets.
It's unbelievable. I like Little Caesars too, but Jets is significantly more expensive,
and then you taste the difference. All right. Last two, it's
a funny local feud. Lafayette American are two coney islands in downtown Detroit that
share a wall and are owned by two brothers. Ah okay, I have
had this, but it was I've only been there once when I was a
kid. They used to work together until one up and left and opened his
own coney next door. Wow. Okay, so all right, I'll next
time I'm in the area, I will try and I'll make my decision.
I'll stream it on Twitch. Me eating coney dogs. That's what That's what
the kids like to see. It's a giant face eating dogs. Mike Acid.
Is the GTA five story expansion indicative of the future of the series.
Is this what they are going to do for This is what they're do going
forward until they figure out what six is? Yes, I think that this
is them same. We should do more for the classic GTA fan, uh,
not just the gt online fan while we're working on six. We could
do something to keep them engaged as well. And whether or not that will
work. I don't know, because you know, this is not necessarily the
kind of thing that will bring everyone back, but it could bring some of
them back, and at the very least it might get like gt GTA online
fans like primed for a new story after after five. All right, I
think it's gonna do it. It was a good show. Well, it's
of great questions. I'm gonna head out though. We're we got the Game
Awards tonight, everybody, So if you're gonna be watching, you know I'll
be. I will be probably snarking on Twitter. It's what I do.
I can't help myself. It's just it is brain fumes like an exhaust system,
that's what it all just goes right on to Twitter. H So you
are warned. I'll also be streaming it and hanging out there and yeah,
it should be fun and I'll be covering and we'll have all the stories up
on games Beat. Like I said, we got a lot of embargoes,
so you are looking for coverage of like what's gonna happen and looking for all
the trailers you can basically venture Beat dot dot dot com, slash tag Slash
The Game Awards twenty twenty one. Basically, I'll put it up on Twitter.
But yeah, thanks for watching everybody. I appreciate it. I'll be
back with another new episode next week. I should take a look at the
calendar. Let's look at the calendar. So Thursday the twenty third, I'll
do an episode that day. That'll be fine, and then the Thursday the
thirtieth. Okay, yeah, so for the rest of the month we'll be
having grub snaxes, grub snaxsis, grub snax sis, that's how you say
the plural. I'm looking forward to it. Thank you everybody for tuning in
today. Thank you all so much for the excellent questions. There was so
much good stuff. Uh Salim mcausen. With the last and most important question
of the evening. Will they play Cruisen's theme tonight? They better If they
don't play Cruise and Blast, I will be I will actually be disappointed.
That's the one thing I want. I made it clear to Jeff Keiley on
Twitter multiple times that that's what I want, and there is no excuse for
them for him not to have it, even though it's not it's not nominated
for anything, which is a sham. Even though it's not, they should
still play it all right, everybody, I'm at it out. That's it,
that's I'm done, okay, everybody. Enjoy the rest of your day,
enjoy the Game Awards tonight, and I'll see you next week. Until
then, have a good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
