Monday, October the twenty eighth time Matt Jones here at the KS Bar and Grill with Ryan Lim and Drew Franklin. 00:00:45 Speaker 6: It is a cold day in Lexington, but that's all right. 00:00:48 Speaker 5: Still sun is out and you gives a shower with Clark's puppet shot fall line eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. A Vision Auto glass text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four in this stition spontsor by the teach Jay Smith Lofics. 00:01:00 Speaker 6: You call TJ. I'll make them pay. 00:01:03 Speaker 5: We got some folks here from Charlotte here to watch today to help us drown our sorrows before we get into what for me was a very depressing back to back game streak with Kentucky and then my bears losing on a hail Mary. Did I hear Ryan that you drank so much during the postgame show someone had to drive you home. 00:01:24 Speaker 2: That is inaccurate. 00:01:25 Speaker 5: Okay, all right, but you tweet You tweeted out that you had to be driven home. 00:01:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, Corey Price came and drove me home because I did it from here. I left the game early, did it from here, so you didn't have a car. But yeah, by the time my brother got here with his car, I rode with him. I thought, I don't have time to I don't have time to leave, so I just did it from here. 00:01:42 Speaker 6: Okay, all right? Because I was worried about you when I saw that, I thought I was gonna listen to the postgame show and see if the end of it was you like drowning your sorrows of the entire weekend. 00:01:52 Speaker 2: I think most of you cable to understand if I did do that. 00:01:54 Speaker 5: For sure, it was it was. It was a tough go of it Saturday night. We'll tell talk about it later, but I should not have to Drew lose that game Saturday night and then lose on a Hail Mary in the late game on Sunday. 00:02:09 Speaker 6: That I was not happy last night. 00:02:11 Speaker 7: I can't even imagine that pain. I had another zero to three weekend. I'm to the point I'm just ready to cancel football. Cowboys Titans, Kentucky. It's every weekend your Bears with a historic loss, a historic class. 00:02:21 Speaker 5: Let's just a guy to the sport completely with the guy like taunting the crowd. 00:02:26 Speaker 2: Yeah, it was not a good look. 00:02:27 Speaker 6: And it's not a good look. 00:02:28 Speaker 5: And that dude's got to be really mad at the random fan that was filming that from behind, because the only reason people found out he was taunting is that one guy in the crowd true was filming him or otherwise it may have not gotten out. But we'll talk about that, MORTI man. I mean, the big story, of course, is Kentucky a really masterfully terrible performance in the last three quarters of the game. Up ten nothing half at the end of the first quarter. Kind of reminded me Ryan of the Missouri game last year. You start out really good. You look like you're just driving down the field. The Missouri game that turned on a fake punt, I think the Auburn game kind of turned on. 00:03:05 Speaker 6: We had him third and long and then a. 00:03:07 Speaker 5: Guy got behind his the defensive back ends up getting like a forty yard pass, and then I don't know that we had another good play the rest of the time. 00:03:15 Speaker 6: I think. 00:03:16 Speaker 5: I think Dane made a pretty amazing catch on the sideline at one point, but otherwise it was pretty bad. Defense, completely annihilated. UH could have been worse. Auburn should have scored at the end of the first half and and messed it up. It was a pretty low point after the game. Seemed like the staff had had had no answers whatsoever. 00:03:38 Speaker 6: I saw Vince is actually doing the Mark Stoop Show tonight, which is that's never you know. 00:03:43 Speaker 5: I mean it, well, I guess funerals today that makes sense, then the funeral that makes sense, and God bless the Stoops family with the funeral today. 00:03:55 Speaker 6: But just an awful, awful night, I feel. 00:04:00 Speaker 2: And I think that's even worse than being mad, because I feel like, you know, we got maybe early indications of what this team was all about. In that South Carolina game. It's come back the last couple of games and just no fight and questionable play calls and not executing on offense and can't tackle on defense. I mean, there are so many issues going on with this team. It is hard to put your finger on one thing. What's going on? What's wrong? 00:04:26 Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean that was in all systems failure after the first quarter. I mean, bron didn't play particularly well. 00:04:33 Speaker 5: The receivers I thought were okay, But you know, I Max was at the game and said, and I think he'll talk about this on the football podcast. That's the first one he'd gone to where he set where he could see the whole field and not just TV, and he was like, dude, dude, there were receivers open, they just don't throw it or don't have time. Offensive line was bad. One of our offensive linemen graded. 00:04:54 Speaker 2: A zero point zero on the zero point. 00:04:57 Speaker 5: Zero points they played the whole game, grade a zero point zero. We thought Minzi was bad when he got like a point five, it was a zero point manbe. 00:05:05 Speaker 7: Cox was the five. 00:05:06 Speaker 6: Yeah, Cox got a five. This guy got a zero. 00:05:11 Speaker 7: Uh. 00:05:11 Speaker 5: And then on defense, just some misstackles yeah, uh, no pressure on the quarterback drew. 00:05:17 Speaker 6: I'm not sure it could have gone much. 00:05:19 Speaker 7: Worse, to be honest, and adding to it, it really felt good for a little bit you had. Uh, Dane had the good catch, and right after Dane's catch, Patterson, who hadn't played much, breaks off a twenty five yard run. Will Cox punches it in. It's ten to nothing. Three plays later, you get an interception. You're back in scoring territory, and you're thinking you could blow Auburn out right now. Auburn could quit if you can score one more time. But then you don't capitalize, and Auburn responds with twenty four unanswered and you don't score again. I mean, it was like the we thought we had something, even the crowd, which wasn't great. There was a lot of Auburn, but the crowd kind of started feeling something when you went up ten oh and just completely vanished after that. 00:05:53 Speaker 6: I'll tell you the two or three things that stuck out to me the most about the loss. Number One, Uh, they quit. 00:06:00 Speaker 2: They did. 00:06:00 Speaker 5: They quit, And that's that's really disappointing. I mean, because I would argue it might be the second. 00:06:07 Speaker 6: Or third game they've quit this year. Yes, I think they kind of quit against South Carolina. I think they kind of quit against Florida, and I think they quit in this game. So you've had three games where I think at the end they quit, and that's not been something even in poor performances, that's not been something Mark Stoops teams have done over the years. It is quit. Secondly, I have no idea what we were doing at the quarterback position. I'm not saying Brian played well. I don't think he did. 00:06:31 Speaker 5: With that said though, in those first three drives four drives, we were moving the ball and then they would bring in whims It and we would waste to play and then that would be the end of the series. Every time they brought him in, that's when we had to punt. I don't think that's whims It's fault. It's just they don't ask him to do anything. So then you punish the quarterback who didn't succeed because you kept stopping his drives by bringing in somebody else and then play him and he no offense did do anything the entire I have no idea why when he ran the ball five times in the first half and we got to combine six yards, did we think we should switch at halftime. 00:07:09 Speaker 7: It's so obvious when he comes in what they're doing. 00:07:10 Speaker 6: But why would you switch. The game was ten to ten when we switched quarterbacks. 00:07:16 Speaker 2: Why well, you know it was it was design where he was supposed to come in for the third year. 00:07:21 Speaker 6: I don't care if everyone is designed. 00:07:23 Speaker 5: I mean, if he was, if that wasn't right to put him in on third series, how do we play in the entire second half? 00:07:29 Speaker 2: I think just because Brock did not play well the first half through a really bad interception. 00:07:32 Speaker 6: But I don't say this to be rude. 00:07:34 Speaker 5: Gavin didn't play well at all the whole at any point in the game. 00:07:37 Speaker 6: I felt if you had put Cuttery in. 00:07:39 Speaker 5: I still don't understand that either, but at least it would be something different. Wimsen didn't play well the whole game. 00:07:44 Speaker 2: When they throw wims It out there and then they kind of handcuff him. They made him throw some bunch of deep balls that second series, will Cox and Patterson didn't even touch the ball. 00:07:53 Speaker 6: I don't that was bizarre play call. It was to me, I mean it was bizarre. 00:07:58 Speaker 5: And then the defense, I mean, I you know, there comes a point where you do have to say, Okay, you can't expect the defense to do everything, but they give up five hundred yards could not tackle. I mean five hundred yards. You're not gonna beat anybody. Honestly. They do this chart that says how bad you should have been beaten or whether or not you should have won. Like when Kentucky played Georgia, we were the team that should have won the most that stats wise, but didn't win. In this one, we were like the fourth worst team. We should have lost by thirty if you look at the stats, and we just happened to lose by fourteen. 00:08:31 Speaker 7: Yeah, your defense that you've relied on all yeard, the Hunter have nearly three hundred yards. 00:08:36 Speaker 2: You had a two hundred and seventy eight yard most Ever, at. 00:08:39 Speaker 7: Kentucky football doesn't give up two hundred and seventy eight rushing yards, not with the defenses they've had lately. That was the big till. 00:08:44 Speaker 6: But they do if they've quit. 00:08:46 Speaker 7: Yeah, yea, that's what I mean. That's I mean, it looks like they've quit, because that doesn't happen when they're locked in. 00:08:50 Speaker 5: And I think that happened. And now you got to go to Tennessee. I mean, what a great draw. You know, go play in Knoxville on a primetime game. So I mean, are we gonna well, all right, so we're gonna win one more game. 00:09:08 Speaker 2: That's all I think. I think our season is all intensive purposes over. They're not gonna be so eligible. They got one more win on the table. 00:09:14 Speaker 5: They'll beat Murray Stay. Everybody was like, oh, they could lose to Murray State. Murray State is horrific. All right, So we can play Mario and we'll beat Murray Stay. No offense, Mario, No. I mean, like we can play Mario. He'll be our starting running back. I mean, I'm not gonna start. I just but we can play him and we beat But we're not beating anybody else unless something changes. 00:09:33 Speaker 2: Cause it's like you said, it's it's he's lost the team. I mean, Mark Stops has not forgotten how to coach, but he's lost the team that the defense making tackles takes effort and man, they just didn't bring it. And that's not the first time that we've talked about this year. You know, it's kind of an ongoing issue that's been happening. 00:09:51 Speaker 6: What was the postgame show Vibe defeated. 00:09:54 Speaker 2: Like people weren't necessarily mad. They were more defeated and beat down. And like I said, I I think that's even worse when you feel that way than when you're mad. 00:10:03 Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, Auburn comes in here with four losses, you think, come on, guys, just get yourself together for one last sec home game. Been disappointing season so far, but a Bowl can still be a tatle if you win this one. And to just laying an egg like that, that was an embarrassing performance. And I mean I'm someone that still thinks Louisville's beatable, but not if your team's completely quit. Yeah, Like, by the time that game comes around, you're assuming you've added two more losses. I just don't know what version of Kentucky could even show up for that. Stoops has been so good for getting them fired up for that game, but this year feels a little different when they get to that point. 00:10:35 Speaker 6: So, like, is it over? 00:10:38 Speaker 2: I think the season is done? 00:10:39 Speaker 6: No, No, season's definitely done. Is the whole thing over with Stoops? 00:10:44 Speaker 2: I don't think so. Like I said that, the dude didn't forget how to coach. 00:10:48 Speaker 5: But do you think is the vite like not? I agree with you. He can still coach. But like sometimes things end. 00:10:59 Speaker 2: It does feel eerily similar to what we just went do with basketball, doesn't it. 00:11:03 Speaker 6: So do you think it's over? 00:11:06 Speaker 2: I can see where some schools may make a change. I don't think Mitch Marnham will make a change right now. I don't know. 00:11:11 Speaker 5: Mitch Bartnark's not gonna fire no, I mean, but that still doesn't will Stoop step down. 00:11:15 Speaker 6: John cal Perry didn't get fired, but he's also not the coach here, so, like, is it over? 00:11:21 Speaker 7: He definitely has some fans that aren't coming back, like we saw towards the end of the cal Era, they have just they're completely done with them now. I don't know how big that group is, but those people exist and as the season goes on, more will add to it. Just looking forward, I'm thinking about I worry about Stoop's overall legacy because it has been good here. It has not been good the last three years, very disappointing. But if he comes back another year. We have Texas with Arch Manning, Florida with sophomore DJ Lagway, sophomore Nico These are coming to accident. You're at South Carolina at all these other schools. I think you could have a good team next year. Is gonna be hard to have a turnaround, So I'll worry about him having another bad year if he comes back again, and then we're really thinking, you know, is he leaving it any better than it was? 00:12:04 Speaker 6: Yeah, that's I mean, I'll go ahead, Channon. 00:12:07 Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't say anything. 00:12:08 Speaker 6: Oh, I thought you did you? 00:12:09 Speaker 4: I mean, if you need me to say something, I can't for you to say something. Somehow, I feel like. 00:12:13 Speaker 3: The defense has gotten worse as we've gone throughout the season. I don't know what's happened to our defense, and then we continue to be the worst team in the world inside like the five yard line? 00:12:23 Speaker 4: Like, how can we not score? 00:12:25 Speaker 6: Yeah? It was five yard line. 00:12:26 Speaker 5: It was very fitting that the game sort of ended with another first and go inside the five and we didn't score. 00:12:32 Speaker 6: I mean that that was a. 00:12:33 Speaker 5: Very fitting because it's three games in a row, three games in a row we've been inside the five yard line and not score. 00:12:39 Speaker 2: You're an SEC football team. Stoops wants to pound it, pound it, pound it, and you can't punch it in from the five yard line three times, three times, three different times, three different times. 00:12:50 Speaker 5: I said, I think before the game that I thought forty chance he came back. I think that number is even low. I can't see him coming back. Yeah, really yeah, I mean and again that's not inside knowledge. I just don't. How do you pick yourself up and do this again? How do you go look at the donors that they're gonna need to bring in the players that they're gonna need, and say, let's run this back. I mean, you're gonna lose guys like this. We're gonna lose guys this year. 00:13:19 Speaker 6: We are. 00:13:19 Speaker 5: You can see it on the frustration on their face. You can see it with you know, let's say he did come back, what are you gonna do with oc position? 00:13:27 Speaker 6: You're gonna give the quarterback job to Brock? 00:13:30 Speaker 5: Like I think it's just easier to go, you know what, because look, I like Mark a lot. I don't like him a little bit. I like him a lot. I think he's been a great coach. He's like, you can see it like he doesn't. He doesn't know what to do. And how is that gonna change? 00:13:51 Speaker 6: I don't. If I'm in charge and I'm Mitch Barnhardt, I'm. 00:13:55 Speaker 5: Not making a change because both I can't and also what you said about at some point he deserves a chance. But if I'm Mark, everybody always trying to think about what they do, if they're Mitch. 00:14:07 Speaker 6: If you're Mark and your son's graduating high school. 00:14:12 Speaker 5: And you've done this a long time and you've you kind of were tired anyway, I don't know why you would do it, do you know? 00:14:21 Speaker 2: And you know he he said before the season he didn't like dealing with the you know, the nil the boosters and all that. So maybe that's not going anywhere. I know that's not going anywhere. So maybe it's just kind of warning down. I do think he does he wouldn't want to step away in leaving it this way, But I put. 00:14:41 Speaker 5: Yes, but that, like Drew said, there's no certainty it's gonna be better worse. I mean, like, what do you like? No, in theory do I think he wants to leave it this way? 00:14:51 Speaker 2: No? 00:14:52 Speaker 6: In theory do I think Cow wanted to leave it this way? No? But you know what, that's not that. We don't live in theory. 00:14:59 Speaker 5: We live in reality, and in reality, I don't know how that's certain to get better. 00:15:05 Speaker 7: So Stands have done a good job responding to and to give them eleven losses and thirteen home games. Officially, people gonna say, I'm gonna stop driving from Paducah and spending all this money to watch you lose on your home turf. 00:15:18 Speaker 5: And let's be really has no answers when he's asked these questions, he has no answers. 00:15:23 Speaker 2: Yeah. On the postgame show after the game, he owned up to it. Didn't out make any excuses, But I mean, we've heard that for three straight weeks and they've gotten worse. 00:15:31 Speaker 5: We three weeks ago looked at Auburn Vandy in Florida and said they can win all these games and play a Tennessee game where it's one of the most important games in UK history. Instead, they lost them all, and now no one is excited about Tennessee. 00:15:45 Speaker 6: I don't know how you keep. 00:15:46 Speaker 5: Doing that, because we're not gonna have three easier games in a row than we had here probably again in the SEC and we blew. 00:15:54 Speaker 2: And it's as possible they get blown out by Tennessee. 00:15:57 Speaker 5: Possible, it's likely. I can't believe the spread is fourteen and a half. 00:16:01 Speaker 2: Blown out by Texas. Yes, and then you're blown out by Louisville's I's got blown out by Louisville, but I think they could lose yep. 00:16:07 Speaker 5: So, if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine is seven seven two seven to seven four five two five four, will take a break brick backs KSR working back tege sports Radio. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, nah, one person rights, Matt. If you if you were Mark Stoops or Mitch Barnhart, you're trying to decide why this happened. What do you think the biggest reason is? 00:16:36 Speaker 6: I don't know. 00:16:38 Speaker 5: I think the biggest I mean that recruiting misses in terms of depth is part of it. Their star recruiting has actually done pretty well, but the depth is just terrible. The offensive line play was ultimately the biggest thing. I mean, I you know, yeah, I hate. I hate to mention a guy got really mad at me online. I assume he's from Richmond. He got really mad. It has not stopped about me mentioning that Malachi Wood got a. 00:17:04 Speaker 6: Zero point zero But what are you supposed to do? Man? Like? 00:17:07 Speaker 5: I mean, we all saw it. I watched it during the game. He couldn't block anybody. If you wonder why MINSI and Cox are playing. There's the answer. The backup was worse. I don't know what you're supposed to say, like like, we just we got guys that aren't good and Ryan that's just a problem. 00:17:26 Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no depth there at all. And that was one thing that Schlarman kind of when he built the big Blue wall Man. They were not just good starters. They had quality, good depth, and they rotated a lot of guys. When Wolford took over the job two years ago, he stopped doing that. You know, he stopped rotating guys, and I think we're seeing. 00:17:42 Speaker 6: But I don't know that he could rotate him because the second string is not good. 00:17:46 Speaker 7: That's why I hated the quarterback change. Brock didn't look good, but he is not the problem with that offense. He's part of it, but it all starts with the line, and they just can't create any room for running backs. They can't get Brock anytime. As you said, as Max noticed, there's open receivers, but if you can't block anybody, your offense stands no chance. 00:18:04 Speaker 6: I'm not taking up for Rock. 00:18:06 Speaker 5: I don't think he played particularly well, but he also had some big completions, made some big plays, and the problem in all those drives, we would waste it down. 00:18:14 Speaker 6: We would put Gavin Wimsen in, we'd run for one yard. 00:18:16 Speaker 5: It would go from second nine to third nine, and then we were putting behind. 00:18:20 Speaker 6: The chain and then taking him out with the game tied. 00:18:23 Speaker 5: If it was twenty four to ten and you took him out, I understand, but it was seventeen. 00:18:29 Speaker 6: It was actually ten ten. 00:18:30 Speaker 5: Ten scored and made it seventeen ten before Brock got the ball again. 00:18:34 Speaker 6: I just don't understand that, right, I don't. 00:18:36 Speaker 2: I don't understand it either. And like I said, they kind of handcut him with the play calls. There was no sense of urgency. They would run the plate clock down to the final second where they snapped the ball those last two couple of series. He came in that. 00:18:47 Speaker 5: Morning when we were driving to cut it to one score. We were like, I'm like, are we trying to win? We were rated? It was like we were milking the clock. 00:18:57 Speaker 6: Did it was so weird. 00:19:00 Speaker 7: This may shock you have never played quarterback, but that has to mess with Brock's head when he's supposed to be your to your guys, A first year start he's trying to figure things out. But if you got to run to the sidelines, the other guy can come in over them when we know that's not an answer. I just wonder what that does for his confidence too. 00:19:16 Speaker 5: Yeah, I have no idea, one person writes Matt. I don't think Stoops would leave. He's not gonna leave nine million dollars a year on the table. Maybe I think that's part of it, But I would also say Mark's doing well. You know, Mark's got a lot of money. Mark did well with his bourbon stuff. Mars made a lot of money at this. The other reality is if he wants to coach somewhere, he'll get a job. I mean, he'll get he would get a head coaching job. So I don't think it's you know, I mean again, John Caliperry, think about it like this. Cal Perry basically went to Arkansas for free. Yeah, I mean he did. He basically went to Arkansas for free. He decided to coach Arkansas for free because he was going to get the same amount of money that he he was going to get here. 00:20:01 Speaker 6: Mark might not get nine. 00:20:02 Speaker 5: Million somewhere else, but he'd probably get six or seven. And so I think if he wants to coach more. I think I could see him saying I'll sit out a year, be with my family or you know, with my kids for a year, and then go and coach somewhere else. 00:20:17 Speaker 2: I can see that, you know, watch your kid play college ball for a couple of years, get the itch back, go back and coach maybe somewhere else. I still think he's he's a really good coach, just he's kind of at this has lost this team. 00:20:29 Speaker 5: You could be a really good boyfriend, but that relationship is over. And I'm not saying we're there yet, but Drew, I think we're getting there unfortunately. I mean, do you think all these people who've watched us lose eleven of the last thirteen home games are gonna keep doing well? 00:20:46 Speaker 7: That's my point. And as we hear from callers and fans, football is a different crowd and they're spending a lot of money that means a lot to them. I mean, some people are stretched thin to have these season tickets and make these drives every weekend. And if you just keep showing up to lose on your home field, that's they're not gonna keep showing up. And even before we even saw this season fall apart. I mean I thought it. But did anyone thinks Stoops had a lot left in the tank anyway? I mean he tried to leave a year ago. I just thought this was always only had a year or two left to begin with. This just might speed it up. 00:21:15 Speaker 6: Football a is a different crowd. I think that's exactly right. B. 00:21:21 Speaker 5: It's three times as many people you have to put in there then basketball. I don't think we often think about that. You only need to get twenty thousand season ticket holders, you need sixty. You know that's different. 00:21:34 Speaker 6: That's three times as many people that you have to please in order to get the crowds you want to get. 00:21:39 Speaker 7: And these people are sacrificing entire weekends for football. You can pop into a basketball game and head home. Football is a whole event. 00:21:45 Speaker 5: And the other thing is you can sell your basketball tickets for the most part. Harder always to get rid of the football tickets, especially for some games. 00:21:52 Speaker 2: I was really kind of worried about our crowd when we talked about in the pre games, for there was no traffic to get here. We had parking spots opening the parking line, there was no trapping to get to the stadium. I go in there and it's not full by any means, but by kickoff it was a very late arriving crowd. By kickoff it filled up. And then when, like we said, we went up ten to nothing, they were in it. Man, there was some energy and some buzz in there. 00:22:13 Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean, we had our normal crowd at the bar, but I was like, there's a lot of Auburn people here and I just want And there was a lot of Auburn people at the game. 00:22:21 Speaker 2: Yes, there was. 00:22:21 Speaker 5: I mean I think the Keeenlan weekend made Auburn people make the trip. 00:22:25 Speaker 7: Because they don't get to do that all the time. We're ill scan into the parking garage. The gut scans me in. He said, I can't remember scanning this many away parking things. 00:22:34 Speaker 6: Yeah. Well, how many people you think gonna make the trips Innoxville next week? 00:22:39 Speaker 2: Not many parents and girlfriends? 00:22:43 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:22:44 Speaker 7: Seven five? They're doing the blackout. That's gonna be a ridiculous environment. 00:22:48 Speaker 5: All right, So we're not gonna spend all day being sad. I want to talk about a couple of funny stories from Saturdays, okay, and talk a little bit of basketball. We'll also take your calls about this football game. 00:22:58 Speaker 6: Eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven. It's KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:23:08 Speaker 4: He'll make him pay Now. 00:23:10 Speaker 3: More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:13 Speaker 4: Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:14 Speaker 5: Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. Here at the KS bar and grill. There's my guy, Herm Edwards on TV. He's my Uh, he's my favorite person on ESPN. He's on with me every Sunday. He makes me laugh as much as anybody. 00:23:29 Speaker 2: He's always that good energy. 00:23:30 Speaker 5: He's hilarious because you don't know what he's gonna say. He still thinks he could cover like Justin Jefferson today He's like, you put me on Jamar Chase. 00:23:38 Speaker 6: He ain't scoring, except I don't think he's kidding. 00:23:41 Speaker 5: I think he means it. It's seventy years old. I think he thinks he can still cover him threw Uh. 00:23:45 Speaker 7: Is that your boy that spins the thing on it? No, that's not him. 00:23:47 Speaker 6: Never mind. 00:23:48 Speaker 7: Yeah, I love Herm's always good for quotes, even going back to when he was a coach. He's he's got all the classical long he's great. He calls me and Myron the two geniuses. 00:23:55 Speaker 2: So, uh, well, he knows, he knows you know your football. 00:23:58 Speaker 6: Yeah, no, he's being sarca. He does not believe we're geniuses at all. 00:24:02 Speaker 5: If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven one thing football That was a little less serious. I didn't know Shannon that there's a singer named Noah Kayan kd Cod. 00:24:13 Speaker 6: Yeah, I didn't know that. 00:24:15 Speaker 2: He. 00:24:15 Speaker 5: Uh, somebody played a song for me of his. 00:24:18 Speaker 6: I had heard the song. Okay, so his what's his big song? Season? 00:24:23 Speaker 7: What'd you say stick season? 00:24:24 Speaker 6: Oh? I thought you said something else. You thought you see said something else too. 00:24:30 Speaker 5: It sounded like I was like, I don't think it's that season, at least they were in my house. But the stick season, I've heard that song. So I guess he was at LaGuardia Airport and someone stole his wallet, which you gotta be careful. You gotta be careful when you go out with your wallet like people, people will take it. And I guess when they took his wallet, obviously they took his credit cards. 00:24:51 Speaker 6: Well, he checked his credit cards. And then that night someone. 00:24:55 Speaker 5: Had bought fifteen hot dogs at the UK football game. So first of all interesting way you get a famous person's credit card, You're like, what am. 00:25:06 Speaker 6: I gonna do? Let's go get fifteen hot dogs? Fifteen hot dogs. I'm not gonna go get like a you know, a new television or a car, not even team Merch, not even Team Merch. Fifteen hot dogs at the UK game. A lot of hot dogs. 00:25:20 Speaker 2: Okay, that's a lot. 00:25:21 Speaker 5: Maybe he was eating them all he Noah Khan posts about it and he said, and I thought it was a really great line. 00:25:29 Speaker 6: Hey, we have to work together on our spending habits or something, which I thought was a really funny line by him. 00:25:35 Speaker 5: What do you think about it? And I think it's hilarious. He gets his I mean, I'm sorry he got his wallet stolen. But then they go and use it to about fifteen hot dogs, of. 00:25:44 Speaker 2: All things, for somebody to get it and end up at the UK football game. And by fifteen when I heard jumbo hot dog, jumbo hot what are we. 00:25:52 Speaker 3: Doing with fifteen jumbo hot dogs the section? Or how are you transporting fifteen hot dogs? 00:25:58 Speaker 6: That's a great That's my question is is he with fifteen people? 00:26:01 Speaker 5: Did he just have five buddies and they each were like let's get three jumbo hot dogs. Did he buy fifteen himself? I don't know, but I want to find out. 00:26:10 Speaker 7: I have two assumptions. I don't think he knew Noah Khan was a celebrity, because I think he would have been a little more careful of knowing that he might get called out for that. Yeah, And I assume if he's stolen the credit card, I have like this image of him in line, just buying for everybody. I'll get the whole line, everybody behind me, everybody not my money, not knowing it's stick season, not knowing he's got a Grammy nominated artist's credit card in his hand. 00:26:30 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:26:31 Speaker 5: So, so here's this reason I bring this up. I'm not trying to catch a thief, okay, but somebody at Commonwealth Stadium saw someone by fifteen hot dogs. Oh yeah, Like, if you see somebody buy fifteen hot dogs, you're thinking to yourself, what's up with that guy? 00:26:48 Speaker 7: How many times a year to someone by fifteen? 00:26:51 Speaker 6: Exactly? 00:26:51 Speaker 5: How many times do you think somebody walked up to a counter at Crogerfield and said, give me fifteen hot dogs. I think it's one of the one Someone listening to this show knows the culp yep. And my guess is if you contact Noah Khan, you'll get to go to the song here uh here stick season in person. All you gotta do is if you saw someone by fifteen hot dogs, Shannon, you can catch a criminal right now. 00:27:17 Speaker 4: How about the person who sold him the fifteen somebody was. 00:27:20 Speaker 6: The person working part. 00:27:22 Speaker 5: If you worked at Crokerfield, I'm sure you didn't sell fifteen hot dogs to multiple people. If you sold fifteen hot dogs as somebody, you know their thief. 00:27:30 Speaker 2: And you know, I want to think he carried all of them like he in one big gulp and went out to the stand and just were handing them to the people, and he's row here you going. 00:27:39 Speaker 5: Do you think he was being like Robin Hood steal from the singers and giving to the to I. 00:27:45 Speaker 3: Think he was moving them from the concession stand to his section, probably in his pocket. 00:27:49 Speaker 4: So you may have eaten somebody's pocket. 00:27:50 Speaker 6: Get a pocket dog, a pocket dog, pocket dog. It was gross. It is gross. 00:27:56 Speaker 4: Wellow, this happened, fault. 00:27:59 Speaker 7: He just likes the victim. 00:28:00 Speaker 6: That's the line of the song. Okay. I don't know who he is. I didn't know his lines in the song. 00:28:06 Speaker 7: But h what a random thing to pop up on Sunday though when that went around. Yeah, yeah, he went in Kentucky. Someone had to fly here with his card. 00:28:15 Speaker 6: Who's up next, Dave? 00:28:16 Speaker 8: Dave? 00:28:17 Speaker 6: How are you? Dave? 00:28:19 Speaker 3: Good? 00:28:19 Speaker 8: God? Good? Good? 00:28:20 Speaker 9: Guess thank you for taking my call. Listen, if y'all could just hear yourself talk. I mean, you're making comments like you know, he's a good coach, he hasn't forgot how to coach. But still, yeah, your list of a laundry list of bizarre things that you don't understand, like the quarterback change, or like us running the clock out down in the fourth quarter, or like the last play before the Georgia game. 00:28:43 Speaker 6: CRUs is. 00:28:43 Speaker 9: The matter is these couldn't committed an issue for a long time. 00:28:46 Speaker 6: I don't think those things are mutually exclusive though, because look, I mean, let's go back to last year basketball. You would acknowledge John cal Perry's a good coach, right. 00:28:56 Speaker 9: Not a good exits of those coaches. 00:28:58 Speaker 6: A good coach. 00:28:59 Speaker 5: He won a national championship, he went to four out of five Final four US. He was a good he's a good coach. I don't think unless you just think he's the luckiest man on earth. 00:29:06 Speaker 6: He's a good coach. 00:29:07 Speaker 5: That didn't mean there were not a myriad of issues that made it seem like it was time for a parting. I don't think those two things are mutually exclusive, to say he's a good coach, but also here are a ton of problems right now. 00:29:23 Speaker 9: I just looking back, I could think of a whole list of things that have been discussed for the kind of the consensus was that possibly he cost us the game. I can't think of a single woman they said, Wow, he out coached whoever? Whoever? 00:29:40 Speaker 6: What what about old miss this year? He out coached Lane Killy? This year he did? He did. 00:29:47 Speaker 9: Listen, everybody had Okay, listen, everybody has a back end. Last thing. I'm gonna shut up and get out of here. Also, you combine that with the off the field things, the Podiuc comment, you know he threw shade at Bay. We're about to shade that medium day three years ago. South Carolina has kicked our ass ever since the dust up with cow. I just think there's a lot of things. 00:30:09 Speaker 5: I appreciate the call, I mean, fair complaints. You're right, right, I feel like we're repeating the conversations we had last eight well last March, I don't think in order to say this program has slipped and he is making mistakes, you then have to say, well, he's not a good coach at all. 00:30:28 Speaker 6: Like you don't You don't have to live in the extremes. 00:30:33 Speaker 5: There is nothing on this planet that drives me more crazy than the way we do this with every subject. Now that everything has to be an extreme. You are either amazing and can do no wrong, or you are the worst person on earth and there is nothing in the middle, and that drives me crazy. I feel the same way about this market, like things are not good right now with the program, but that doesn't mean Mark Stoops has not done and unbelieve givable job at transforming this program to where we even have this conversation. 00:31:04 Speaker 2: Yes, you know that was it was. It was a fair phone call, and like he said, you know, there is a lot to unpack there, but seem I'm I'm I'm signing more with you what he's done here. We still think we should celebrate the man, even though it's not good right now. I'm not ready to guy, I'm not I'm not the guy ready to open up the door and tell him to leave. 00:31:22 Speaker 6: Now, I of course not. I mean, you know, there's I can't think of a politician I've liked less than Donald Trump. 00:31:31 Speaker 5: But there are some things when Trump was president that happened that were positive to me. I don't care what you think about Joe Biden. You think he's the worst person on earth. 00:31:40 Speaker 6: I bet he had a policy that if I asked you agreed with, you'd say, yes, everybody is not great and everybody is not awful. 00:31:49 Speaker 7: I didn't like the callor just dismissing Ole Miss. The list of problems is much longer than the list of things that have gone well. I am as disappointed soups as anyone. But you can't just act like Ole Miss didn't happen. Yeah, Playane kiffenries So Lane Kiffin reached out to Stoops after that game kind of like wow, Mark Wow, to compliment him. I mean, the opposing coach did that, and we're gonna sit here and act like that didn't happen. Now, that's just a one good thing that happened this year and a lot of bad. But you can't just act like it didn't happen. 00:32:16 Speaker 5: I know people that I think are not people I want to be around. But there was a moment where maybe they did something really kind and. 00:32:25 Speaker 6: You can't act like it didn't happen. 00:32:26 Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, who's up next, Glenn? 00:32:29 Speaker 6: Glenn? What's up? Glenn? 00:32:33 Speaker 8: Hey, A couple quick things. Number One, it's not just who you're losing to, but you didn't completely dominate it in every aspect of the game. They did, playing nine million dollars nine million dollars a year for the privilege of that. I think at some point there needs to be a conversation about Mitch Barnhart. This is very ston one of the John Calipari situations. Two coaches who bought in a mate, you know, much better talent than we traditionally had. 00:33:00 Speaker 10: Okay, totally agree, But let's talk about that. Let's talk about the Mitch Barnhart part. Let's hang out a second. Let's talk about the Mitch Barnhart park. Because I think what you're saying is fair. I think the criticism and the comparison to cal Contract is fair. But let's go back, because I want you to not just say that in the abstract. I want you to put yourself in the seat. All right, Let's go back three years ago to when they gave Mark Stoops that extension. At the time, there were schools inquiring about him. He At that point, we were coming off a ten win season where we went and won the Citrus Bawl. 00:33:39 Speaker 5: All right, ten wins. Will Levis is coming back for another year. This dude who's projected to be a first round pick. His agent comes and says, you give us this or we may go somewhere else. You gonna say, go coming off a ten win season, and what are your fans gonna say if you let. 00:33:57 Speaker 6: Him go to another school? 00:34:00 Speaker 8: I thought what was being asked for was not commensurate with what we had gotten at. 00:34:05 Speaker 5: Okay, but I'm asking you a question, thinking you're gonna let him walk away after a ten win season, knowing the playoffs coming, Levis is coming back. 00:34:17 Speaker 6: If you bring him back, you're gonna tell him to walk. 00:34:21 Speaker 8: Well, so here's the other thing. 00:34:23 Speaker 5: You're not answering the question, are you gonna tell him to walk or not? 00:34:26 Speaker 6: Because that's the question answer I. 00:34:30 Speaker 8: I wouldn't have agreed with writing that check. I didn't think walk, so you would have let him walk for that amount of money? I let him walk. 00:34:39 Speaker 6: Okay, So here's what I would say when that happened. 00:34:42 Speaker 5: When when that happens and you let him walk and he goes to another school, seventy of our fan base says, we don't care about football. We just let the best coach that we've had since Bear Brye leave to go to another school. 00:35:00 Speaker 6: We don't care about football. That's exactly, sir, what would happen. Now. You may be okay with that, you may make that. 00:35:06 Speaker 5: Decision, but you cannot judge that contract today. You have to judge it when it was signed. 00:35:14 Speaker 6: And I think ninety percent of our fan base or more signs it that day. 00:35:19 Speaker 8: Well, my opinion at the time was I was good with you know, if he stayed, he stayed. If he went, he went, but he wasn't worth what he was asking for. 00:35:27 Speaker 6: All right. 00:35:27 Speaker 5: I appreciate your t I think if we did that, let's just I mean, just wait, it'll happen again one day, Like it's gonna We're gonna have a coach on one of our sports that's successful and they're gonna go ask for a raise, and I'm gonna and they're probably gonna ask for more than their worth, like Cal did and like Stoops did, and Let's see what happens when the ad says it's Kentucky, you go ahead and leave. 00:35:49 Speaker 7: If people were wanting Kentucky to invest in football for years, when you have your best coach, need a little money, that's investing in football. Now, it didn't turn out well, but in the moment, you gotta do it. 00:35:58 Speaker 2: Mitch Barnhart could not let him walk at that moment. Could not. 00:36:01 Speaker 6: We would at that point have had two of the last four years ten wins, when we hadn't had ten wins in a non cheating season since the fifties. 00:36:12 Speaker 2: That's why. 00:36:14 Speaker 6: I just want you to think what that's like if he leaves and goes to Texas Tech or something like that. 00:36:20 Speaker 2: Let me ask you this, because this has come up. Do you think the fact about that he wanted, really wanted to go to A and M, and he turned it down last year that is long break. 00:36:28 Speaker 5: I think that's a fair I think that's a fair question. Clayton and Crome was founded on a simple idea, leather goods should last a lifetime. 00:36:35 Speaker 6: Do you agree with that, Drew? 00:36:36 Speaker 5: Oh? 00:36:36 Speaker 7: Absolutely well. 00:36:37 Speaker 5: So everything from bags, belts, wallets and more. They do it right here in Kentucky. At claytonancroam dot com, c r U m E dot com. Visit their flagship store in Louisville at two sixteen Shelby Street in New lou It's Clayton and crom dot com. That crummy dot com quality leather goods, built to last. 00:36:56 Speaker 6: We'll take a break and right back. This's KSR. 00:37:01 Speaker 5: So this is Noah Kan who bought someone fifteen hot dogs in Lexington. 00:37:08 Speaker 4: Was the victim of fifteen hot dogs? 00:37:11 Speaker 6: Fifteen hot dogs? 00:37:12 Speaker 5: Somebody would ask Anthony Wireman said, what if he went and bought the hot dogs and then sold them out in the crowd. 00:37:18 Speaker 6: He was making a profit, a hot dog profit. That's prison. 00:37:21 Speaker 5: That would be like, not only do you steal the hot dogs, you actually then also make money on the on the steel. 00:37:27 Speaker 3: We were talking on the pre show. Is this is that a felony if you do that? Like if you take somebody's card, and. 00:37:33 Speaker 5: Yeah, if you if you try in somebody's card, I mean it's well, the felony it might be the amount of money. 00:37:39 Speaker 6: I'm not exactly sure how credit card theft for is. You can't just steal people's credit card, right, so it could I imagine that you go to jail. 00:37:46 Speaker 4: Imagine you go to jail over fifteen hot dogs. 00:37:48 Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true. 00:37:48 Speaker 5: Though, if you're gonna steal somebody's if you're gonna steal somebody's credit card, you can't just go to. 00:37:52 Speaker 6: Jail for hot dogs. You got. I think I feel like they got at least go for something else. 00:37:56 Speaker 7: Not just any hot dogs. Roger Field hut. I mean that's my dinner A lot of saturdays. I'm not spending still money. 00:38:01 Speaker 2: I had a Grogerfield hot dog at halftime Saturday night. Just of all things, you know, to end up at kroger Field and to buy jumbo hot dogs, it's just all right. Make your point about A and M is do you think that his flirtation with A and M last year where some people think he actually accepted the job and then turned it down, negatively impacted the UK football program like the culture? Like did did people feel hurt? Do you think that that's a lingering effect of him wanting to leave last year? 00:38:35 Speaker 5: No, not with the players and not with the people in the program. It might have been with some fans. So I think I think fans are a little some fans are a little less forgiving of that. I think in a world where coaches leave all the time, players can leave. 00:38:54 Speaker 6: Now. 00:38:54 Speaker 5: I don't think Drew that that had a major impact with the culture of the team. That's just he's saying that, though maybe there might be a player that would disagree, But I kind of don't think so doesn't feel that way. 00:39:05 Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know what everyone's staying in that locker room, but a lot of the players were disappointed in kind of knew this year. A lot of the linemen were new. I mean, that's been the biggest weakness. I doubt Brock was offended Stoops tried to leave, So I doubt there might be a few that had been here a few years that didn't like that he stepped out. But I don't think overall it had the beginning. 00:39:22 Speaker 5: And most of the players are not hyper online. Remember that that whole thing went down in like six hours, Like his name got floated for the job, and then he announced he was staying from like six pm to. 00:39:35 Speaker 2: Midnight, late night, right. 00:39:37 Speaker 5: So that Saturday night, unless you were online, a lot of those players were out celebrating the Louisville game, and maybe they got a text to Stoops leaving and then they're like, what is he leaving? And they're like, oh, he's staying, okay, and then they go right back to party, you know. So I don't know that. I just don't know Drew that it had much of an impact. 00:39:55 Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean he went out and built the roster after that, so he convinced the guys, a lot of guys to stay or come here. Also, the players they filled phone calls to. When the season ends, they talk to other schools, so I'm sure they just they get it. 00:40:07 Speaker 5: Yeah, Today, by the way, is the sports Equinox. It's the only day of the year where all four majors professional sports play on the same day. 00:40:18 Speaker 6: This is the only day. 00:40:20 Speaker 5: You got the World Series, you got an NFL game, you got NBA and NHL, all four games play. It only happens one or two times a year. This year, it will only happen today. So tonight you can stay at home and flip around and see one of everything. 00:40:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, the World Series of Game three in New York. So that's where I'm Heelers Giants, Peters. 00:40:41 Speaker 7: Giants' sounding a good day to parlay. 00:40:43 Speaker 5: Yes, and Hurricanes play tonight, And I know a lot of people are excited about that. 00:40:48 Speaker 2: And NBA. 00:40:49 Speaker 6: I got some NBA. 00:40:50 Speaker 2: The Hurricanes are at Vancouver, in case you were one I was wondering. I really didn't gonna set my VCR. 00:40:54 Speaker 6: So I will fall asleep to that tonight. Hurricanes at the Canucks. Who's next year, Jerry, Jerry, go ahead, Jerry. 00:41:03 Speaker 11: Hey Man first off on the whim set. Students has had a fascination with him since he was in high school. And that's why I didn't like him coming here and this and this is why he's just finding some reason to play. But and and as far as the season goes in that after that South Carland game, I had this vibe like I did that Bill Curry's ninety four season. They had the Bowl, they had, they have the season before they go to the bowl game, everybody sky high, they come out, they beat a little in the first game, everybody's great year, and it just collapses into that one and ten disaster and Bill Curry never recovered. And I'm feeling that this it's the only thing that's missing this year is the seventy to seventy three to seven. 00:41:45 Speaker 8: Just beat down. 00:41:46 Speaker 11: And I'm afraid that comes Saturday. And if that happened, and if that happened, if that happens, if that happens, I just I don't see I don't see him recovering. I just don't. 00:41:55 Speaker 5: Well, there's two of those potential moments. I appreciate the call. I think you're right. I think a absolute smacking at Tennessee or Texas could be one of those moments. 00:42:05 Speaker 6: Or fifteen thousand people at the Murray State game. 00:42:08 Speaker 2: I worry about the Murray State game. 00:42:11 Speaker 6: I mean that's a noon kickoff after a bye week. I worry about that. What I do I don't know. 00:42:19 Speaker 5: Man, right after we've played bad, like we're into basketball. I think the women's team debuts that day. Maybe yeah, I don't like it. We'll take a break come back. I renumber two, okay,
