Is Nintendo's Live-Action ZELDA Movie a BAD idea? | Nontendo Podcast #77

I kind of wanted to start with us, like just on our phones,
not even paying attention. Did you say did you say something? I don't

I'm looking at it right now, beautiful, overcast, wintery day here and
it's Brooklyn out. Even though it's overcast, it's probably like sixty degrees.
Would you say, I haven't looked at the four According to my Amazon Alexa,
the track left the house. The traffic was light. We both got
here very quickly. Traffics traffic was fine. Always a problem at the exit,
the very last exit is always a problem. I need to get around
it. I need a way or but I don't think there is. I
don't come through that way, so I don't know what that's like. Uh.
As we were setting up to go live, we have a lot of
talk about today, including the Mario Mario movie, Zelda movie, about the
Mara movie. I think it's old news. At this point, we got
breaking news. Literally two minutes before we hit the live button, the Steam
Deck people otherwise known as a Valve announced an O lead model. Yeah,
this was this is the last thing that I would have expected. This is
so funny. It's like this following the same trajectory as Switch. People were
asking what Steam Deck they think they're going to do next, and they announced
that they're not going to make a new Steam Deck. Well they lied,
well no one meaning like a new version. I mean maybe they lied a
little bit, but yeah, I wouldn't have expected even just to led like
why because I mean we've seen how nice an O lead looks on the Switch
upgrade, and imagine playing a lot of these more current games on the Steam
Deck with an OLEAD. I mean that sounds sick. I will say the
screen on the Steam decks pretty big, but after using a lot of other
different devices, it is not as good as like ANW No, it's not.
It does feel like a step down. It looks like the form factor
of it is exactly the same, like you probably side by side and might
not even be able to tell, which is which I think unless the power
button is read screens on the power button's red I think the power. Yeah,
it is. The power button is red. That is the That is
how you tell the power button is red. But yeah, otherwise everything else
is exactly the same. I think the screen is the same size, It
looks the same. I'm trying to see if oh they have price is already
Oh no, okay, yeah, okay, yes, I'm looking at the
Vergin. Yeah, five hundred and forty nine gets you a better screen,
a better battery, and more what is the more so better battery exciting.
I think that they might be getting rid of some of the models. You're
getting an o led screen and a better batattery because with the switch you got
a worst battery. Well, you had the same battery, but it drained
quick. It's also a little bit of a bigger screen. So I don't
know. But they still sell the LCD model for four hundred dollars. It's
two hundred and fifty six gigabytes. My brother just texted me the announcement fifty
longa battery life. That's a big jump four hundred dollars for the baseline.
They're still doing that. The five hundred twelve gigabyte one is now OLED and
it's five hundred and fifty dollars. They made the screen big. Yeah.
I was just about to say it's seven point four inches instead of seven inches,
so they made it point four inch so they remembered it looked a little.
They literally they did a switch thing. They just to some bezel.
They literally did exactly with the switch. That's so funny. Oh and it's
a ninety hot screen now, not a sixty hootz. We heard from spawn
Wave that it's going to have faster downloads, and I was like, how
are they going to do that. It's just an OLED. They put Wi
Fi six e in it. It previously had Fi five. Okay, so
it's faster, which is good because with all these handhelds that I have,
they take so long to download games, like I often leave them overnight,
so I plug them directly into like a little unit. Yeah, the Ethernet
port on the Steam Deck. Actually, with the Lenovo and the Rock ally,
I plugged them into the Steam Deck dock just to get the Ethernet so
that they download quicker. So yeah, that's what I do. But Steam's
weird. So Steam takes up a lot of bandwidth when you download a game.
Like the other day, I started downloading something on the Lenovo through Wi
Fi on Steam and it raised my ping while we were playing Valorie, it
jumped up one hundred. Uh. Anyway, the battery life is ten whe
hours longer, like you said, yeah, fifty percent better three also fifteen.
Couple of things with I. We're all over the place because we're both
very excited right now. A couple of things here with the color and the
screen. So one hundred and ten percent DCP three color gamut as opposed to
sixty seven percent before, so more better colors. And hundred a thousand en
knit HDR, so it has HDR apparently. I wonder how that works with
LED. I feel like o ly D screens kind of just have like a
it's just the contrast is great on ol ed's anyway, it's a lighter for
some reason. The resolution is the same twelve eighty by eight hundred. I
think that's the same. It says the battery is three to twelve hours content
dependent. That's insane. I don't believe that three to twelve. Look at
think about that range of that's a huge range. I was just thinking of
the twelve. That's a huge range. It comes with a carrying case.
Everything else seems to be larger, quieter fan, larger heat scene. We
definitely need a quieter fan, louder speakers with improved base. Speakers are pretty
good. They've kind of done everything here, one millimeter taller thumbsticks. It's
a refresh. We're getting literally the old soaka printing on buttons, higher fidelity
haptics, redesigned track pad for improi fidelity on edge detection. So the one
terribied version is six hundred and fifty dollars like it used to be. They
just got rid of the two top models and made them o led. But
now there's a fourth model that is six hundred and eighty dollars, the most
expensive one. It just says limited edition, and I don't know what the
difference is. The touch screen is better, okay, a limited edition carrying
case with a removable printed liner. The bluetooth is better. I want to
see what it looks. I want to see if there's a different look to
the limited edition, because I might want that version. There's an onboard microphone.
You can get a skin. I mean I already have a we'll look
in like the case. They've tried to upgrade everything. The power cable,
it comes with is twice as long. That's awesome. They've they've done everything.
That's awesome. This is wild. The seams already compatible with like everything
I use. I think I've used my a sous Ally charger for all of
my the devices led the light, the white light is now multi colored.
You can do what colors on it. The red that they have. They're
using Talk screws instead of Philip screws. Okay, that's not cool. That's
random. I don't like that. Why would you do that. I don't
know what's the purpose valve. I'd like I'd like a press release explaining why
you're not using Here's one thing you will like. The machine screws on rear
cover with metal buses for easier repair. I don't know what that means,
but it sounds like it's easier to I don't know what any of that means,
but it sounds like it's easier to get into. I mean, it
was already easy to get into. It was a huge pain in the ass
to remove to replace the whole case, and I wish I never did,
because now my steam deck is a little fewer steps required for common repairs.
Replacing the display does not take does not require taking the back off. Oh
that's awesome. So that's that's something I wanted to bring up when when we
first heard that they're making an o led. Uh there is there exists an
upgraded display that you can make. I forgot what it's called. It gives
you a little more resolution. The limited editions transparent. Do we have pictures
maybe, but it says new limited edition transparent for six hundred and eighty.
Someone's saying that in the chat that could better be transparent. That's cool.
I would get like I would get, I would want that one, Yeah
for sure. New carry case with the one terabyte model one terabyte model is
also cool. That has a second smaller shell inside. I don't know what.

I think I think the carrying case has the smaller shell. Oh that's that's
the limited edition. And it looks exactly like the like the I'm having a
stroke. It looks exactly like the steam deck that I already have. It's
the smoky black. I'm gonna see if I can. Oh, yeah,
it looks exactly the same. But it's on the webs. The stick's are
the stick the inside the sticks are red. Oh, it's cool like under
the sticky and the buttons. Oh, and inside the fans are red.
The fan mesh is red. Yeah, I would that would match my desk
match. So I'm going to get that one. I'm gonna get that one.
Yeah, I want this one. They don't show it. Is there
a picture of it? And if you can bring it up for people?
Wait, this is really cool news. I actually I am pretty excited for
this. I love the O Lead it is. It's a nice it's a
great handheld counter to the Switch. To have it alongside the switch. I
mean, some people might just be content with just an O Lead, but
uh, this upgrade I think personally makes this the definitive alternative handheld PC console
for the o LAD screen alone. I mean, that's what I've been missing
on all of these consoles. No, the Novo that we're messing around with
now has qHD and the screen does look really nice, but there's something about
that that l D screen on the switch which just makes games pops so much.
A faster refresh rate might have been uh, I mean this is just
a little mid psychle refresh. I don't want to get too crazy. It's
still the same. It don't even expecting a refresh. Yeah, and they
just ride out the Steam Deck until they made something new. They were They
have made a lot of silent changes to the Steam Deck, a lot of
little tiny things with like the way the fans work and stuff. Uh,
but every console company does that. You know what's crazy about this update though?
What it's the level of update that people have been begging Nintendo to do.
You know, when it's like we have an issue with this, this,
this, this, this, this and this, can you please fix
it? And then they bring out a new thing and it's like, well
it has an OLED screen now, so there you go. But the steam
of other stuff, this seemed to updated everything. Everything's been upgraded. It's
like every little thing was addressed. So one thing is that I think that
the sixty four gigabyte model is the best value because you just upgrade it super
easily, get your own one terabyte drive and throw it in there so easily.
And they are not allowing you to buy the OLED in that model.
That's a I don't like that. Also, there already exists an upgraded screen
called Deck HG that a lot of people made videos about it is twelve hundred
P instead of eight hundred P and you can just drop it in and do
like a firmware update and it'll work for that. I think that that is
a huge pain in the ass to do, and I never wanted to do
it. I replaced the case on my Steam deck and that was a nightmare
because you had to take the screen out. So I never want to do
that. But this new model, it looks like you it's easy to remove
the screen. So I said, if you have burning or something, if
something happens to you screen, I don't have to do that. I was
thinking that, like, do I have to do that and nothing? Yeah,
yeah, baby, I'm gonna have I'm just gonna have a wall of
screens behind me. That's not a bad thing. Just making a fun image
this time a picture of me gon. I have faith that whatever lad they're
gonna whatever ol ead screen they're gonna put in there is going to be fine.
If Nintendo can do it with the Samsung panel that they put in there,
I think Valve will be able to put something in that will be fine.
I'm excited. It says pre orders start November sixteenth. When's it come
out. Uh, that's a good question. Maybe next probably next year,
right, No, because last time you took forever. Oh yeah, it
dide're like six months. Last time. It did take a really long time.
I'm glad that doing it, though. I guess the steam Deck must
have had a certain level of success for them to deem it work. Yeah.
Absolutely, Yeah, I'm waiting for a little tiny guy, a little
bubbo guy. They got to make the steam deck a little more streamlined.
It's too big. May give me a little give me a verbal option to
have. I was saying the next step. I mean, they've done it
backwards. But the next step in this progression of copying the Switches model is
to make a steam deck light. Yeah, so you might get a deck
light, yeah, which would be cool. I just that's what I thought
this would be. I thought it would be the exact same internal or at
least the exact same amount of power. But just it's not impossible. A
and Neo did a mini version of that console that was like switch light side.
Yeah. They also did, and it was running like cyberpunk. Yeah.
They also did forty versions. Yeah, they just made everything every It's
like Simpsons did it. I and Neo did it. Yeah, I know,
but Steam decks you should do it. Valve do it, do a
bubble, they would do it really good. I'm kind of annoyed because I
bought the Steam Deck when it was on sale for the Steam Summer sales now
kind of and I barely played it. But now I honestly belly played my
real I mean, yeah, probably we could sell it. But also also
it's a minor upgrade. It's true. If you didn't, if you haven't
gotten seat Deck yet, you've been on the fence. This is a battery.
That's more what I want, because like battery life is the battery is
fifteen percent fifty No, it's not. It's forty watt hours to fifty fifty
fifty watt hours. The thing I read said the battery was fifty percent better.
Well that can't be true because it was from forty one hours to fifty
wide hours. Also, the Wi Fi six is great. That is nice.
That is that is nice. You'll be able to download and up to
fifty percent longer battery life. Okay, well that's just not true. That's
just a lie. That ten what must get you a long way. I
remember that the three to fifteen hours. I've heard about it. Yeah,
it's that they're saying that the fifteen hours is up to fifty percent more than
what it previously was. Well okay, yeah, but like I remember fifteen
hours that you said can't possibly ever happen on the Steam deck. That's what
they're talking about. When I would imagine, like, if let's say you're
playing Witch of three and usually you get let's say, just be generous three
hours a game play on it. That's pretty generous. I got forty five
minutes in Sonic Frontiers forty five minutes. Wow, let's say a generous three
hours fifty percent more. It tells me I would be able to play for
four and a half hours on which of three? I mean, that's what
it says. Okay, so I know, like there's a whole discomensay of
three to twelve. I'm just saying, game to game, you should get
what is forty to fifty that's twenty percent what I was saying fifteen. It's
twenty The battery is twenty percent bigger, But that twenty percent goes fifty percent
further. Yeah, that's just can't sixty percent of the time if you're playing
every time. If you're playing Sonic Mania, sure you don't get fifty percent
more battery left. M hmm, I'm excited for that. Yeah, I
don't know, like I know. I saw people in the replies to my
tweet already saying I just got the other Steam deck. I mean that happens,
I not always have. I think it's not worth selling your old Steam
Deck for this new seam deck, especially if you've got the sixty four gigabyte,
because again they're not selling a new sixty four gigabyte. I haven't seen
it. I might think it's worth the upgrade, especially if I happen to
do a sponsoring video. The Transparent is sick, but that's only the love
was expensive limited. Oh baby, the Transparent. If you're looking at price,
I still think the best option was the sixty four gigabyte one, and
then you upgrade it yourself, and the only way to do that is to

It could play up the game Boy Advance, but then you could like
modit to do a lot more and it's super easy to mod. Yeah,
it's a little it's basically a firm. We're up the same company that's making
the sixty four. Yeah, it got resent. These things are awesome.
It's got ten times the resolution on the screen, so the scaling is like
immaculate. It runs on FPGA, so it is a complete is an exact
clone of the hardware of a game Boy Advance. It's awesome. It has
to be advanced. Charge can you actually charge that way? You can know?

a The headphone jack is also like insane because because there's people. Yeah,
it comes with music making software because people, you know, make music on

that's by a company called Funny Playing. They just made board using FPGA for
game boys, so they made their own game boy and apparently it's only sixty

but but it's not as good emulation as this. This is like perfect,
and that one's like a little fucked up. But still for sixty five dollars,
it's pretty crazy. Yeah, versus three hundred dollars. Yeah, so

but he's a producer who's produced pretty much all of the Sony superhero movies.
A lot of horrible movies, some good ones, like into the Spider

might have. He worked out. He was a producer on the good X

and then Marvel started making movies and stuff, so he ended up just
falling into like the producer all kind of and that's why he is doing what
he's been doing. So I'm gonna hit you with some of the movies he's
produced now. I want to remind you will producer sometimes has a lot of
say. I think a producer gets as much say as they want to say,
but they're not directing it, riding it, acting it. So let's
just bear that in mind. First up, Morebius. The first one that
comes up is More that's the most recent one he's done. Also, it
gets better The Uncharted movie. Yep, m hmm. Now it's going to
be yeah. But then we have Spider Man No Way Home, Good Tom
Holland. Again, not a great movie, but it is fun and just
scored well. Which one was that? The last one with all the spider
It was fun? Is it a great? It was fun well written movie.
This is horrible death in it, but it was fun. Yeah.
The Venom movies. Was there a second one? There was two? Yes,
I don't watch it. It's Venom Meet the Carnage or some let that
be Cottage. I think he did the good Punisher movie, Punisher war Zone,
the Spider Verse movies, both of them also Far from Home and harcol
guy in the Punisher movie Parkour guy like flipping around and he takes out a
bazooka and shoots him mid air and then he slow motion just explodes and cuts
for anyone that is worried thinking that maybe he can't take sort of a more
cartoony animated property. And ton in the live action. He did ghost in
the show with Scarlet or Hanson. Okay, has me about that one.
I don't know if you'll find that one. Okay. He also Rats,
did the amazing Spider Man movies. Don't worry. He did ghost Rider.
He did the Ghost Write a Spirit. There was a movie he did.
Oh he did uh you know Logan, you know the X Like Logan movie.
They're really good. He did X Men Origins Wolverine. Okay, okay,
so what can we move on to the director. He did the first
Iron Man that was good. He did he did he did the original Spider
Man movies too, Producers, I mean whatever, he did Spider Man three.
Producers can eat a lot or nothing at all. Yeah, maybe he'll
die before the movie. He's getting up there. He did the Dead Devil
movie. But the yeah, yep, oh in the Hulk movie, which
was you know what. Other than the Spider Man movies, these are all
pretty bad. This is not looking good. He's not looking good. Someone
just said Scar Joe Zelda, that would be uh, that's something. Let's
talk about the director. Well, the director is a much much, much
shorter list. He has directed the Maze run of movies. Yep, West
Ball, so mays Runner has like a little bit of a cult following it.
Does he also he also used to be like a visual effects guy and
he worked in the art department or something. He has a lot of Star
Trek I think shows under his belt. He's done a lot of visual effects
stuff, okay, but but directing and visual effects are two different things.
He's green screen in Premiere. But I'm with this guy, so I think
that's cool because the guy who did like Rogue one and who did The Creator
and stuff, that guy was a visual effects guy. And he knows how
to direct because he knows what how to shoot for visual Okay, so there
is a skill set that could be used there. The fact that he only
did Mayze Runner is a little bit concerning. People seem to like Maze Runner.
It's not like it wasn't like a big box office, but there were
there was a relative call follower. Yeah, and I also tried to describe
this in my video about I didn't think it did a very good job.
The the the theme, the ideals of what I would want from a live
action Zelda movie are kind of gritty and in higher roll and fields and it's
like kid like young people going on an adventure, that whole vibe, and
I do get that from Maze Runner. So I do kind of see the
vision there as opposed to like what he's done before. There's no shot it's
going to be like a gritty thing. It's gonna be that's what he's That's
what he's done though. That's the only thing he's done. Okay, the
producer did X men. I know. I'm just think it's I know,
I'm saying, looking at what he's done, and if we assume that's why
they went with him, that's what the movie could look like, is what
I'm trying to say. I don't think it's gonna look like that either.
I think it would be cool if it did, though I would I would
like that too. Yes, yeah, I don't think it's I think they're
going to try to make a box office, which is in that case weird
to pick a director that's only done one style three times. It's weird to
pick a director that's only done one one movie, well three, but yeah,
that's what one movie? Well, then why pick him unless this is
the style? Me and Moto was like, oh, I don't know.
I don't know why pick him at all? Because yeah, I agree,
you must see something in him that he's capable of. It's it's very weird
because Mario was such a safe bet right like Illumination Universal like, it was
such a safe bet, and the Nintendo knows they needed that safe bet because
of their failed attempts in the past. Because I don't know, let's try
thinking of another Mario ip that turned into a live action, gritty movie.
Hmmm, how did that go? With the Mario Brothers movie, which I
actually really like. Eric has never seen it and I tried to explain to
her and all I said was John like Guizambo's Luigi, and she was like,
I don't want to. I actually kind of liked that movie, but
I know it's not good, and they wanted a safe bet with the new
one, so they went with universal elimination. This time around, they went
with a producer who has produced more mid to flops than hits and a director
who's made three movies. This is a gamble, so I want to also.
But the most concerning thing I think is the writer, which we haven't
heard. Mind. I didn't know about that when I made my video Tell
me So Derek Connolly, and I thought this was a rumor, but it
is on his IMDb that he is working on the Legend of Zeldas as a
writer. Uh. The last movies he did was Jurassic World Domination. Uh,
Star Wars Episode and nine, The Rise of Skywalker. No, sorry,
sorry, I got an email about this Team deck again. Can you
go back and read those to me? Jurassic World Domination? Okay, that's
not good. The Rise of Skywalker. Remember that one everyone's favorite Star Wars
movie was that the third one that was the third one in the sequels.
Yeah, it wasn't as bad as the second one. Wasn't as bad as
that one, getting real concerned. It was pretty bad. There's gonna be
a moment two swords from behind him Detective Pikachu, which I kind of liked
TECHNI peakle okay, but wasn't that a copy and paste of the game,
which honestly would be so bad. I think it was a better story.
I think Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom, Kong Skull Island, which a lot
of people liked, Okay, a lot of people like cong and again these
are very like video gamey fiction y sort of and then a bunch of other
stuff like some offshoot Lego TV mini series and stuff. Well again that righted.
I mean, I guess he's also doing the screenplay for the Battle Gear
Solid movie. What and that's it. That's all he has. Do you
think this is going to be just you know, speculation. Do you think
it's going to be like an original Zelda story or Yeah? Time I've been
thinking about that. Yeah, I I think if that they can go two
ways with it. If it's based on the video video games in general and
it's not an original story, I think they have to go with Breath of
the Wild Slash Taste of the Kingdom, that kind of story because it's I
think, at this point, the most popular Zelda, at least in today.
So I feel like it's because that's like the end of the story.
I mean, all of them are kind of the end and also at the
beginning. Like I don't know what they could do. I mean my brain
of time, it is like the same, but but like a version of
it, not like that's what that was. My next thing I think is
the All Karina bass story, but like a new version of it. Haven't
they done like that formula like a million times the Ocrina of Time, Like,
yeah, that not the future type of deal where you go like forward
and back in time. I think it's just more like transforming is the whole
Yeah, I don't there's a lot of that that I don't think would convey
well to a movie like the Whole Akerina and like playing the All Karina and
everything might come across a little cringe. Yeah, So I think they could
just do They could just do a young boy finds himself in this big joney
to save a princess and there's a bad guy at the end, and it's
like characterism along the way. I mean, it could it could literally just
be like the actual timeline where you're you're the kid, and then that's a
third of the movie and then he gets the Akarina whatever and then it just
it's all him even years later. If we're basing it on all Karina.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, because I don't think it'd be you know,
I don't think they'd have time to go back. And I think I think
it'll be an original thing. That is, I think there is an original
story. Yeah, an amalgamation of everything and the vibe of what those games
will try and set up, yeah and do. But if they were to
follow a game, I think the safest bet is the newer ones in my
opinion, just because they have a little bit more personality and story too.
That's no. No. I think that it will be very similar to the
Mario movie where they change a lot, but it ends up like okay,
I understand why they change that, and it'll be just an okay movie.
Yeah. I'm like, okay, this really wasn't for us. This is
for like a live live action, so hard to not make cringe in these
situations. It's like the Avatar movie that was terrible, the Dragon Dragon Bon
movie absolute garbage. Yeah, what I mean, one thing we didn't talk
about is they have money. Nintendo's backing at fifty percent, Sony's backing at
fift. So the way it's not cringe is to do something like Lord of
the Rings level Is it Sony or is it the guy av he said Sony?
I don't know that's he said. Sony's backing pictures. Why would why
would they want that? It's crazy. I don't know. Maybe they look
the Mario movie success and Sony wants some of that. I guess. No,
I understand why Sony would want it. Why would Nintendo want that?
To work with Sony? Yeah, that's so weird. Oh this west Ball
is the director. He's also directing the new Planet of the Apes movie that's
coming out. Oh yeah, that's true. Again, similar style. It's
not going to be gritty doc going to a grass screen. If this guy
is doing these types of movies, yeah, Like it's gonna be very like
adventurous and like it's just so random to like then be like, we're not
gonna do that though, We're gonna pick you and you're gonna do for kids.
It's gonna be cute. I think this movie will be PG thirteen for
what it's worth because, like, I think you have to hit that.
I think it will be too. I mean, you have swords. He's
gonna have to kill Gannon at some point. Yeah, I mean I'm thinking
like Lord of the the way it's not cringe. Just to make it like
Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit. Maybe more like the Hobbit. It'd
be great if it was like a Lord of the Rings. But that was
a little bit more goofy and cartoony. Ye. Yeah, there's a lot
of goofy, cartoony shit in Zelda, Nintendo and Sony on Nintendo's end more
than I didn't love the Hobbit movies, but if they make them like the
Hobbit movies, they it could be good. I think it fits the vibe
better. I saw all the Lord of the Rings movies like once. I
mean, you have like a talking dragon in it, which there's you.
You can see that in Zelda. Okay, get that guy to do it?
Who did that? Some off some random director that nor one's ever heard
of. Get the Lord of the Rings guy, Yeah, get him.
He's probably not doing anything important anyway. I mean, at least they have
a better resume. I'm sure it will be fun, and you know what
a lot if it's not. I don't think it's gonna be fine. If
it's not as good as we would expect, it's not the fault of any
one person. It's it's a corporate money making device. So it's not like
the director's fault that the movie is gonna be bad. If it ends up
being bad. Some of the chest said Twilight Princess. I was gonna say,
could you I don't know about Tilet Princess. I feel like that's a
stretch. But like I think, do you think it could be Skyward's Sword
because that is like origin of like the Triforce. I feel like there's just
not enough meat and Skywards Sword to make into a movie. Maybe I'm wrong.
The characters are so weird in it. Yeah, there's just not Zelda
characters. They're like wacky. Yeah. I don't think it reflects a good
Zelder story. I think Zelda story is link Zelda in the traditional outfits and
Gannendorf. I think that's what you need for the first one. I just
every time we keep talking about this, I just keep thinking about how Gannon
is gonna look. Yeah, I know, because you can fuck that up
so easily, like he Canatista, someone is saying Jack Black, and I
find that really a lot of people say the Rock, but he like refuses
to be a bad guy. So let's let's talk about characters and like actors.
Then we didn't talk about that good so he is. He's pretty good.

Blade Runner? He was fucking awesome and Blade Runner? Can I say that
we're all immediately going to well known actors. I hope I don't know any
of these people, like truly, but especially Link. I hope he's like

he's like seventeen eighteen, Yeah, So I'm hoping it's a round that
age. I don't really want, like it'll be Tom Holland. I don't
want like fourteen fifteen. I'm hoping for like an eighteen twenty year old Link.
A lot of people in the same age. Zelder saying John Krasinski because
he has the jaw line for Zelt for Agannon, But I just I would
just immediately go hits the office. Yeah, I would say for Gannon.
I would be okay with an actor I've seen before. Someone like John would
be cool because you haven't overseeen him and it would be cool to see him
do something different. But as soon as you start putting like Jack Black or
The Rock or any of those people weird, that's all you're gonna see.
I would I would like for it to be no name people too. But
with the Mario movie, that was weird that they went with all. It
was animated though, and it worked. Yeah, they kind of needed day.
Yeah, Yeah, I agree, Like if you're if they're gonna look
a certain way, it'd be cool if you have people who can match the
look. Yeah, And yeah, like Tom Holland, Sure he can look
like Link, but I feel like you can get somebody the Anna Anna Joy
Jay whatever her name is, who did they? Who did Peach? She
could also do Zelda. That would work. Actually she should crush it.
And she's she's also like not a mega actor compared to like everybody else is
now sure okay, new plan her Zelder Jack Black is gannon Charlie days Link.
He's scruffy and he works. I want Link to not talk. I
wanted to be silent. I don't know how that would work in a movie
though I said this before Wally. I think they can do it, and
he's yeah, it's animated and you have no one talks and everyone talks around
him. Yeah, that's the thing. You have everybody talk around him.
You have him go with Zelda on the I think they could Henry Cavill gerralt
it where like first season he barely talks. Oh yeah, like very selective
when he needs to when it's very stoic when he does. It could be
like a companion deal, Like I mean, if they do it Oker enough
time, like Navvy, it could be you know, the talker and yeah,
but it's weird though, because I feel like it would need to be
Link with like a goron who's constantly talking, who could totally be Jack Black,
And then we're just trying to figure out, how do you think they'll
Oh, no, do you think they'll have bad CGI gorns and like creatures
and like Zora's I think the CGI will be fine. I just thought about
that. I think it would be cool if they did it like old Ninja
Turtles style, where it's like the weird suits. That would be cool.

why this guy's directing it, because they're gonna have to see Gi a lot

Gi in a Zelda story? What are the characters They're gonna have to see
Gi most of the the shots because they're gonna want to do these big expansive

wonder what areas from Zelda Law will visit. If it's like a traditional story
where we go to the Garudo desert, is it finding the Triforce you think

it might win a Visual Effects Award is Detective Pikachu, the only other
live action movie they've recently attempted with like a Nintendo ish proper video game.
But Detective Pikachu is creepy, like they look I think that one awards.
Yeah, that creepy, but people seem to like it. I do like
it. I like how weird, Like I liked it. I like that
was the idea. And then I guess Sonic which is Nintendo, which that's
been doing pretty well. I don't love them, but I would actually say
that mid but that fun yea, And we have Sony and Zeu and Nintendo
money and a good story. I think at best you're getting Detective Pikachu.
Yeah, and I would be happy with that. And if I get better,
I will just be amazed. Yeah. I hate to I mean I
hate to sound negative. I don't know if there's any younger people in the
audience that are like, why wouldn't it be good? Why aren't they more
excited? But I mean, we're like in our thirties, we've lived through
a lot of disappointing video game movie adaptation. Yeah that it's so hard.
They're not making the movie for us. They're making the movie for people who
haven't gotten a chance to experience the games. They're taking the IP and expanding
it to people who wouldn't play the game anyway. I think that's the issue,
right, Like we we are we have so many high expectations because like
they already have a fun literally grown up with this. We've seen it fail
time and time again. But because of that, we know how hard it
is to do it right. I don't know if I've even seen a live
action video game movie that I would say that was amazing, like just passable.
Ones like to Pikatri probably the best. Amazing though. What about Pixels?
Remember that one? Adam Sandler? You know, I watched it know
what on the plane one day and I was like, Oh, that's terrible,
that's whatever. I want to see Tetris. I didn't see that.

awesome. Really. The guy who direct Glenn do a good job. He

actors part of it. Those are two separate things. Ok. The sag

be three for what a four year old game at this point, it's kind
of insane. Yeah, but that's Nintendo, Baby, We're so lucky to
not even have the Mario Kart bundle. They were selling the Mario Kart bundle
with the old version of the switch all the way up until last year.
I think they're even still selling that this year, and they're also What's insane
to me is bundles like this would have been so cool in the first year
or two, but they refuse to do it because they don't want to give
anything away for free. But now that they're trying to get those numbers up,
Baby to be the best selling console by getting all the bundles. This
would be better if it was Did you get the new Mario Switch with I
do need to get that? I have not got it yet. If the
do is really cool, yea, it is cool and I do need I
want it. I just keep looking at it. I'm like, I don't

They know that the patents are going to be public when they file the patents,
so they do it no intention of making that They just they do it

I pulled up the patents before the switch came out. It was like a
controller that had a yeah yeah yeah, yeah, No, I know what
they're doing. We talked about that. We said that didn't happen, This
probably won't happen. This is definitely not the switch too. So really he's
just enforcing what we were saying. Yeah, yeah, he said, like
they have no intention of even utilizing that technology. We applied for a patent
knowing the information would be made public. This does not necessarily mean we plan
to equip future products with this meaning the magnetic Again, I wonder why they
apply for it, other than to just take it away from competition, or
it's something they think is cool and maybe they'll do eventually. Because they spent
hundreds of thousands of dollars developing it, So why not just apply for the

Think about how many prototypes they had to throw out before though. That
is true, and it's just a waste unless you just throw a pattern on
it. You know about GDA six. Sure, GDA six is getting a

liked it the first one a lot. Yeah, the first one, I
mean five GDA one. I liked g the first one. The only game
I like that too. Yeah. The only Grand Theft Auto games I ever
beat was Grand Theft Auto two and Grand Theft Auto five. I growing up
had a little demo disc of PlayStation games that had GDA two on it,
and I could only play like five ten minutes of it before it kicked me
out. But I played that five ten minutes so many times. I played
it on the computer. The little number pen Well, you had the whole
game, jealous? Yeah, and I beat the whole game. Was cool.
I never played three. I had Vice City and I finished it multiple
times and loved it. I never played San Andreas, and then I got
five, and then I played that multiple times and played all of them.
I just never beat any of them except for five and two. I played
San Andreas at my friend's house and I was like, yeah, this is
fun. But I like Vice City. I couldn't get through Santa Dres.
I didn't like it. Yeah, I didn't like it. I have a
friend I can't really talk about it, but she is in the new game
and she's saying it's gonna be really cool. It's oh, I bet she's

mean they the quality of five at the time even now is insane. But
Red Dead two, oh my god. I can't wait to see what they're
doing with the new one. I mean they have to. It's gonna be
revolutionary. It's yeah, it's gonna be insane. I mean they so we
knew this was kind of happening. Take Too Interactive did their little financial report
with their stock with their investors, and they were like, just so everybody
knows, next next fiscal year, we're gonna make billions more than we normally
do. And the only way that that's possible is if they release Granted Daughter
next physical year. So it's gonna be come So what does that mean between
March and March twenty twenty four and March twenty But that means yeah, it
means next year. Essentially next year, maybe early the year before. It
could be delayed. That's just what they told the investor. It's going to
come out in summer twenty four. Wow, because the next year is going
to be huge. Yeah, I don't know. That seems really quick,
but it could. But they've been I mean, they've been working. The
thing is, how could they have kept it a secret? So, well
that's a crazy secret. Yeah, because there's thousands of people working on it.
Yeah, didn't one trailer leak with a girl in a gas station or
something? It must have been fake A while ago, a lot of happened
that we're fake as fuck. Okay, this game costs billions of dollars.
Is gonna be the most expensive video game ever? Yeah? I know.
I'm very excited. It's gonna also probably cost a lot of money. This
potential that it will be more than seventy dollars to buy the bat line where
the give it whatever it is GDA five was so cool. Yeah, there
was a lot in there. I could see it being base game seventy and
then like three, I could see a base game be at one hundred dollars.
It might be. It might be one hundred dollars game. You think
online will be at launch or no, probably not, but it definitely should
be now. I feel like they could because they spent so much time on
this game already that like they could integrate it and it's gonna it's gonna be
broken. I should they do that? Even Red Dead the last Red Dead
wasn't at launch, right, I might. I might take ann you'll leave
when that game comes out, like I might take like three weeks. I
didn't get to do much online stuff with the first game because like right after
they released the game, they released it for the PS four and then all
my friends rebought it for the PS four. I was like, I'm not
doing that. I just beat it. I mean I have to beat it
again because you couldn't just cross save my whole I always cheat the fallout I
always cheat, and I never want to play it again. I never cheat.
I mean I cheated, like when I was at a friend's house.
