<v Speaker 1>Hey, family, Welcome back to Living Bothly with Doctor Z. <v Speaker 1>I'm your host, Doctor Zenovia Brian Bright, and I'm so <v Speaker 1>honored to share this space with you today. Now, we <v Speaker 1>would talk a lot about purpose, faith also and about <v Speaker 1>being bold, but here's what I want to talk about today. <v Speaker 1>I want to talk about resting, the sabbath, stillness, and <v Speaker 1>why they are not optional at all. So let's get <v Speaker 1>into the power of rest and why the sabbath and <v Speaker 1>self care are non negotiable. Okay, bow, let's get it. <v Speaker 1>So first I want to get into understanding the purpose <v Speaker 1>of rest. Now, let's start with the truth. Rest is <v Speaker 1>not a luxury, Okay, It's. <v Speaker 2>A spiritual commandment. <v Speaker 1>And the very first rhythm of creation ended not with hustle, <v Speaker 1>but with rest. In Genesis chapter two, second verse, it <v Speaker 1>says on the seventh day God rested, and he didn't <v Speaker 1>rest because he was tired. <v Speaker 2>He rested to. <v Speaker 1>Model a rhythm. So you were never meant to run <v Speaker 1>non state. Rest isn't a weakness. <v Speaker 3>I know. <v Speaker 1>Sometimes we're going and going and going, and we're we're <v Speaker 1>producing and creating and working and hustling and grinding like <v Speaker 1>we're just non human, like we're robots. But it's important <v Speaker 1>to make sure that you know, you know that rest <v Speaker 1>isn't a weakness, it's a strength. It's worship, it's trust. <v Speaker 1>It says that. <v Speaker 2>God, I know you're still working even when I'm not. <v Speaker 1>So God, it's always working even when you're not working. <v Speaker 1>So take a load off, you know, rest, relax and <v Speaker 1>let God take the wheel. <v Speaker 2>You know, like some people say, oh, Jesus take the wheel. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>does Jesus take the wheel? <v Speaker 1>Let God take the wheel, because you know what, he <v Speaker 1>gonna always be working when you're not. <v Speaker 2>So take a load off, relax, and. <v Speaker 1>Don't work your self too much and overdo it and <v Speaker 1>stress yourself and work yourself to death, because it's a such. <v Speaker 2>Thing as overworking yourself. <v Speaker 1>Now, I want to get into, uh, the Sabbath, which <v Speaker 1>is a sacred resistance, which some people. <v Speaker 2>Don't know about it what it really is. I hear <v Speaker 2>people talk about it all the time. <v Speaker 1>And in a culture you know that glorifies burnout, the <v Speaker 1>Sabbath is resistant. So when you choose to rest, you're saying, <v Speaker 1>my work is not in my work, my identity is <v Speaker 1>not in my projectivity. <v Speaker 2>You know, rest is bold. Let them know. <v Speaker 1>Bould was once again, rest is bold, and it takes <v Speaker 1>courage to step away, to unplug, to say no. <v Speaker 2>So that you can. <v Speaker 1>Say yes to what actually restores your soul once again, <v Speaker 1>sometimes you gotta say no. I know it could be <v Speaker 1>hard for some people, but sometimes you just gotta say no. <v Speaker 1>You can't always say yes because you're gonna get burnt <v Speaker 1>out and over worked and you're gonna. <v Speaker 2>Be extremely tired. <v Speaker 1>So the Sabbath isn't just about naps, relaxing, taking a <v Speaker 1>load off, you know, not working hard and just chilling out. <v Speaker 1>You know, it's about renewal and it's time to recharge <v Speaker 1>your spirit and reconnect with God and realign your heart. <v Speaker 2>And that's what it's about. <v Speaker 1>So if you don't know much about the Sabbath, look <v Speaker 1>more into it, do your research. Like I always say, <v Speaker 1>make sure you do your research. But you know, the <v Speaker 1>Sabbath is very important for us all. Next, I want <v Speaker 1>to get into talking about in relation to the Sabbath, <v Speaker 1>practical self care. <v Speaker 2>You know that honors you're calling. <v Speaker 1>Now, let's get practical for real self care is not <v Speaker 1>just bubble bath and spa days. Ooh that sounds so good, <v Speaker 1>although those are beautiful too. You know, I love those <v Speaker 1>those spaw days and the self care and the bubble <v Speaker 1>baths and all of that I do. <v Speaker 2>But real self care is boundaries. <v Speaker 1>It's hydration, drink water, drink your water. It's time with God, <v Speaker 1>it's therapy, it's unplugging, it's saying no without guilt. Now <v Speaker 1>here's a self care truth. You can't pour it from <v Speaker 1>any cup. Once again, you can't pour from any empty cup. <v Speaker 1>Excuse me, an empty cup. You can't pour it from <v Speaker 1>an empty cup. That's what I'm trying to say. And <v Speaker 1>if you're truly called to pour into others, you must <v Speaker 1>protect your oil. So once again, you can't pour it <v Speaker 1>from an empty cup. Your cup has to be full <v Speaker 1>to even pour anything into someone else's cup. And that's <v Speaker 1>pretty much what that means. So here's what I do personally. <v Speaker 1>I schedule my own sabbath like. It's like a meeting <v Speaker 1>with the CEO of my life, you know, so, which <v Speaker 1>is God. So I scaledule this meeting with God, which <v Speaker 1>is sabbath like, since he's the CEO of my life, <v Speaker 1>and because. <v Speaker 2>You know he is, you know, That's why I do it. <v Speaker 1>And I check in weekly with my emotional and spiritual health. <v Speaker 1>I treat rest like the recharge. It is not the <v Speaker 1>reward I earn after burnout. So you know, hey, you <v Speaker 1>gotta set up time and schedule something for yourself. You know, <v Speaker 1>a lot of people don't really do much for themselves <v Speaker 1>because they're always doing something for someone else. <v Speaker 2>And I think it's important. <v Speaker 1>Even if it's like going to dinner or to a movie, <v Speaker 1>or to a park, or on a solo trip, you know, <v Speaker 1>excursion or cruise or international trip. <v Speaker 2>It's okay to go by yourself and treat yourself. <v Speaker 1>I know sometimes they recommend people not to do that, <v Speaker 1>but you know, it's okay to do things by yourself, <v Speaker 1>even if it's a trip, you know, But just make <v Speaker 1>sure that you're scheduling that sabbath like meeting with the <v Speaker 1>CEO of your life, because it's important. <v Speaker 2>Now, before we get out of here, I just want <v Speaker 2>to say that rest is right. It's your right. You <v Speaker 2>deserve rest. <v Speaker 1>Don't let no one tell you that you do not <v Speaker 1>deserve your rest, Okay. Sabbath is your strength, all right, <v Speaker 1>it's very powerful. You can't run on fumes, you know, <v Speaker 1>you have to fuel up once again. You can't pour <v Speaker 1>into others and your cup is empty. You need a <v Speaker 1>full cup. Your cup needs to be overflowing before you <v Speaker 1>can pour into anyone else. So remember that the sabbath <v Speaker 1>is your strength and self care is your stewardship. <v Speaker 2>You deserve it. You have to take care of yourself. <v Speaker 1>You have to not only treat yourself, not beat yourself, <v Speaker 1>but you know, make sure you're taking care of yourself internally, <v Speaker 1>medicine wise, you know, eating well, drinking the right drinks <v Speaker 1>that are not dehydrating you, exercising, getting your spiritual health <v Speaker 1>and wealth, you know, because the health is your wealth, <v Speaker 1>so spiritually working on yourself. Also making sure that you <v Speaker 1>are going to your uh doctor appointments, you know, quarterly, <v Speaker 1>by annually or annually to you know, get yourself checked out, <v Speaker 1>get your blood work done. <v Speaker 2>You know what I'm saying. <v Speaker 1>If you're having issues with your body, report that to <v Speaker 1>a licensed practitioner physician, someone that's you know, licensed that <v Speaker 1>can help you. <v Speaker 2>With those issues. <v Speaker 1>That's important. Same thing with mental health. Make sure you're <v Speaker 1>communicating with someone that's licensed in that feel. So just <v Speaker 1>make sure you take a care of yourself. And if <v Speaker 1>you've been running on fumes, this is your reminder. God <v Speaker 1>is not glorified in your exhaustion. Okay, He's glorified in <v Speaker 1>your obedience, all right, So taking care of yourself is <v Speaker 1>being obedient. Sabbath is being obedient. Self care is being <v Speaker 1>obedient because God knows, and you canna ask God. <v Speaker 2>God knows. <v Speaker 1>Then you're not gonna be able to keep running if <v Speaker 1>you don't have anything left to run on and you <v Speaker 1>just running on fumes. So make room for rest and <v Speaker 1>bold living requires it. I'm gonna tell you that because <v Speaker 1>you gotta be bold to say no bold, you gotta <v Speaker 1>be bold to get the rest that you deserve and <v Speaker 1>need and not spread yourself then for others. Now, I <v Speaker 1>want to thank you all for spending this time with <v Speaker 1>me on living boldly with doctor Z and I hope <v Speaker 1>today's message reminded you to protect your peace, value your rest, <v Speaker 1>and show up fully refreshed for the calling on your life. <v Speaker 1>Now make sure you subscribe, Share this with someone who <v Speaker 1>needs to hear it, and remember, rest is holy, self <v Speaker 1>care is wise, and boldness begins with stillness. Boondw One <v Speaker 1>more time, I'm gonna tell you rest is holy, self <v Speaker 1>care is wise, and boldness begins with stillness. Until next time, <v Speaker 1>stay bold, stay faithful, and stay rested, Hey. <v Speaker 3>The horse, Peach say. Peach touched and touched, reached back, touched,
