<v Speaker 1>This week, we're brought to you by our friends at
<v Speaker 1>outer Loop and their new game, dos A Divas. I
<v Speaker 1>love talking with the team last year at Giant Bomb
<v Speaker 1>at night during Summer game Fest. You might remember Dan
<v Speaker 1>trying to teach that team how to cook, maybe smashing
<v Speaker 1>doritos in there. Well, now the team has gotten over
<v Speaker 1>whatever ailed them with that.
<v Speaker 2>To deliver the game.
<v Speaker 1>Their new game, dos A Divas is an RPG where
<v Speaker 1>you play as two cool sisters who pilot a mech
<v Speaker 1>that cooks tasty food that packs a punch during combat.
<v Speaker 1>It is out now on Steam and the Big Consoles.
<v Speaker 1>It's a game that feels like you made a stew
<v Speaker 1>with parts of Octopath Traveler, Cooking Mama and Super Mario RPG.
<v Speaker 1>Check out the Steam page, give it a wish list,
<v Speaker 1>and by it if it looks like your speed. The
<v Speaker 1>game is funded by Outersloth, the fine folks who run
<v Speaker 1>among Us, and as part of that publishing deal, the
<v Speaker 1>team gets a healthy part of the sales of each
<v Speaker 1>copy sold directly to them right from the get go,
<v Speaker 1>before making their budget back. So your support does mean
<v Speaker 1>a lot to the debt team.
<v Speaker 2>Again.
<v Speaker 1>That's Dosa Divas out now. Hey, everybody, welcome to Game
<v Speaker 1>Best Mornings with Me Jeff Grubb, your host from Giant
<v Speaker 1>bomb dot com. Thank you for tuning in. In this episode,
<v Speaker 1>we're going to be talking about a Disney extraction shooter
<v Speaker 1>for some reason because the world's gone mad. I think
<v Speaker 1>it's gonna be a good one because we have Lex
<v Speaker 1>Ludi on the show.
<v Speaker 2>LEXI, how are you doing?
<v Speaker 3>I love my man Cabin. Cabin is the best man.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, and we all know what that is. What
<v Speaker 2>are you talking about?
<v Speaker 3>It's from Pragmata. Cabin.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, I've not been able to play yet because I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna do a Giant Bombs TM Mike Minati's TM launch
<v Speaker 1>look TM for Pragmata this Friday.
<v Speaker 3>Everybody, so well, I'm so excited for you to meet
<v Speaker 3>Cabin and realize that he's basically just Jian Ochoa.
<v Speaker 4>I uh okay, oh no, with so much love, Jaz,
<v Speaker 4>I know, but you have backpacks full of bullshit.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, okay, I'm looking forward to I've heard nothing but
<v Speaker 1>good things and all the reviews just went live. I
<v Speaker 1>will definitely get into those here in a bit on
<v Speaker 1>the on the show. But I guess I mean you've
<v Speaker 1>been playing it, LEXI, what do you think.
<v Speaker 3>I will credits last night? Okay, I love this game.
<v Speaker 3>I think that this game is probably going to hash
<v Speaker 3>out around like an agy something on Metacritic. I don't
<v Speaker 3>know if if that's been coaliated, yesh, but I.
<v Speaker 1>We score on Open Critic is eighty nine, so more
<v Speaker 1>reviews are going to come in, but eighty nine so far.
<v Speaker 3>I'm delighted to hear that I love this game. I've
<v Speaker 3>been a big champion of this game since I saw
<v Speaker 3>it first of Games Calm. I've seen this game a
<v Speaker 3>lot at different events, but I am a huge fan
<v Speaker 3>of the hacking mini game. It just is so intuitive
<v Speaker 3>and gives you something to do while you are shooting dudes,
<v Speaker 3>and the combat challenges that they introduce as the game
<v Speaker 3>goes on is really good, and the pacing of that
<v Speaker 3>is really good. I was also saying to the person
<v Speaker 3>who reviewed it for gamer Guides yesterday, it was really
<v Speaker 3>refreshing to see a father child relationship in a video
<v Speaker 3>game that isn't man is grumpy and learns to be
<v Speaker 3>less grumpy. Like when you meet Hugh at the start
<v Speaker 3>of the game. He's a pretty decent guy who's quite
<v Speaker 3>nice and he grows and changes in other ways, but
<v Speaker 3>he doesn't like learn to love or learn to open
<v Speaker 3>up his cold, dead harsh like seemingly every other tria
<v Speaker 3>a video game Dad has had to do for the
<v Speaker 3>last like fifteen years. And so I really like the
<v Speaker 3>dynamic between Diana and Hugh. Yeah, this game is great.
<v Speaker 3>I really like it. I hope it does well for them.
<v Speaker 3>I'm very curious how it does do for them as
<v Speaker 3>Capcom's first big new IP. I mean, you had stuff
<v Speaker 3>like knitsugame, but that was definitely a logic game. This
<v Speaker 3>is a game that has been in development since before
<v Speaker 3>twenty twenty, so like at least stay six or seven
<v Speaker 3>year development cycle. So yeah, I'm glad that it's one
<v Speaker 3>of those games where it's good on its own in
<v Speaker 3>the context of how long it took to get made.
<v Speaker 3>It's incredible of it's a miracle this thing came out
<v Speaker 3>as well as it did.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it just continues to speak to where Capcom's at.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, I mean I've heard some very like blazing takes.
<v Speaker 1>Sean and Christian were playing it over a game mess
<v Speaker 1>and they were saying that they like it better than
<v Speaker 1>Resident Evil Requiem. So it's like, okay, I.
<v Speaker 3>Think I would be in that same boat.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, okay, incredible, all right, I will say go ahead finish.
<v Speaker 3>I will say stop encoding your cut scenes at thirty fps.
<v Speaker 3>What the hell I'm playing on a nice new PC.
<v Speaker 3>And especially when the only pre rendered cut scenes in
<v Speaker 3>the entire game after the first cut scene and for
<v Speaker 3>the final boss. That's weird. That's real. Like halfway through
<v Speaker 3>a fight, it just jumps down to thirty fps and
<v Speaker 3>looks like shit for no good reason, and then goes
<v Speaker 3>back to one hundred and twenty fps. That's a weird experience.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's like, are they pre rendered like video cutscenes
<v Speaker 1>or like.
<v Speaker 3>Or they have to? There are two instances in that game,
<v Speaker 3>the opening cut scene and during you know, near the
<v Speaker 3>very end of that game, where very briefly, for moments,
<v Speaker 3>certain areas are pre rendered, and I am assuming it
<v Speaker 3>is because the consoles or the switch in particular, probably
<v Speaker 3>couldn't render certain things in real time, which makes sense.
<v Speaker 3>They're kind of like that. They're the biggest and widest
<v Speaker 3>open environments they show you. But even then, like video
<v Speaker 3>games don't mind having big ass file sizes anymore. Clearly,
<v Speaker 3>that boat has sailed like just make it a sixty
<v Speaker 3>fps cut scene, please please?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Well we'll talk a little bit more about
<v Speaker 1>Pragmata here in a second. First, let's explain ourselves for
<v Speaker 1>Giant Bomb. We're independent games media. To do that, we
<v Speaker 1>need your help. Go to GiantBomb dot com, slash join,
<v Speaker 1>become a premium member, gets you ad free shows, gets
<v Speaker 1>you a ton of goodies.
<v Speaker 2>It's gonna get you.
<v Speaker 1>Portal pals, Mary Me, Tomadaci, the Nine Lives of Mister Mastopheles,
<v Speaker 1>Me and Mike did just record the endurance run.
<v Speaker 2>We haven't gotten to a point.
<v Speaker 1>Where that is going to be ready to put out
<v Speaker 1>any second now, but once it's ready to go, you'll
<v Speaker 1>probably get that a little bit early. If you're a
<v Speaker 1>premium subscriber, we're gonna make that all happen. It's great.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you everybody who does support us. We really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 1>As far as this show goes most weekdays, I Jeff Grubb,
<v Speaker 1>will help youse your gaming life back together. That includes
<v Speaker 1>breaking news and maybe even some of our own original reporting.

<v Speaker 2>If you are watching live on Twitch Welcome.
<v Speaker 1>You can always listen to the show later on podit

<v Speaker 1>find the RSS feed on giant bomb dot com. You
<v Speaker 1>can also catch the show later with chapters and timestamps
<v Speaker 1>on YouTube.
<v Speaker 2>Hello YouTube. All right, we have a.
<v Speaker 1>Lot to get into, so let's start the morning mess
<v Speaker 1>with Pragmata reviews. As we were saying eighty nine on
<v Speaker 1>Open Critic. It got a four point five star review
<v Speaker 1>from Mike Manati at Giant Bomb, who writes it's rare
<v Speaker 1>we get a new ip from a big publisher like
<v Speaker 1>Capcom these days, especially especially one with production values like this.
<v Speaker 1>It's a risk when you could just keep pumping out
<v Speaker 1>Resident Evil remakes and sequels while making guaranteed money. Well,
<v Speaker 1>this risk pays off. It also got a nine point
<v Speaker 1>five from Luis Joshua Guieirez at.
<v Speaker 2>Oh I didn't write down where that's from. I think
<v Speaker 2>it's from tech Raptor.
<v Speaker 1>Pragmata is an emotional journey that'll stay with you long
<v Speaker 1>after you've completed the game, all while making you appreciate
<v Speaker 1>the little things we may take for granted. And about
<v Speaker 1>three minutes ago, I saw on a chat say this
<v Speaker 1>is his favorite third person shooter ever. What the hell? Okay,
<v Speaker 1>I wait, what puts it over the top for you?
<v Speaker 1>Is it just the fact that it gives you so
<v Speaker 1>much to do moment to moment.
<v Speaker 3>The pacing is really really good, and the way that
<v Speaker 3>it introduces new hacking mechanics and new weapons is doled
<v Speaker 3>out so so well that you basically never feel like
<v Speaker 3>you are doing the same combat arena twice over the
<v Speaker 3>course of fifteen hours. And I think that the relationship
<v Speaker 3>between Diana and Hugh really is really well realized, and
<v Speaker 3>it's just very nice to like witness a genuinely like
<v Speaker 3>positive relationship in a game where the two people help
<v Speaker 3>make each other better. The rest of the stuff around
<v Speaker 3>the story, it gets a bit like the main person
<v Speaker 3>who kind of causes a lot of the stuff in
<v Speaker 3>the game. You never actually see your meet, so it
<v Speaker 3>feels a bit dis stint in a lot of ways.
<v Speaker 3>But I think a lot of the small, again resident
<v Speaker 3>eval style notes that you pick up are all really
<v Speaker 3>good and really paint out the world and life on
<v Speaker 3>the space station. And it just looks incredible. It looks
<v Speaker 3>and it plays so sharp, and it feels so good
<v Speaker 3>and using your jet bootss as he feels awesome, dis
<v Speaker 3>certain you unlock like challenge rooms combat arenas to do,
<v Speaker 3>and doing those as some of the most satisfying combat
<v Speaker 3>I have done in a video game in years. It
<v Speaker 3>is just like I would play hours and hours of
<v Speaker 3>just this combat. And it's good too, because at the
<v Speaker 3>end of the game they unlock a kind of like
<v Speaker 3>postgame combat arena challenge of like, hey, go refight some
<v Speaker 3>bosses with harder difficulties and do some more stuff, and
<v Speaker 3>so you have a reason to keep playing and engaging
<v Speaker 3>with that combat. So it's a really complete package, and
<v Speaker 3>it feels so confident in what it is. I was
<v Speaker 3>reading this guy, the guy who is the lead director
<v Speaker 3>on this game or lead producer on this game, he
<v Speaker 3>worked as a weapon designer on Near Auto Matter, and
<v Speaker 3>that comes through. There's some cool ass weapons in this
<v Speaker 3>game and some cool ass ash. This game also has
<v Speaker 3>several moments where you're just like, oh, damn, this looks awesome.
<v Speaker 3>This looks so fucking good, right, and so yeah, it's
<v Speaker 3>it's really great. I genuinely it's one of those games
<v Speaker 3>where in ten years time, it might be hard to
<v Speaker 3>be like, oh, It's a ten out of ten game,
<v Speaker 3>and it was Game of the Year that year. But
<v Speaker 3>it is one of those games where your feelings about
<v Speaker 3>it are basically wholly positive. There's basically no negative aspect
<v Speaker 3>to it where you're like, I didn't really like this,
<v Speaker 3>so I didn't really like that, Like pretty much everything
<v Speaker 3>I'm like now this worked.
<v Speaker 1>But my question would be it it does seem like
<v Speaker 1>the story is about you know that their figure and
<v Speaker 1>a daughter figure. How do you think someone like me
<v Speaker 1>is going to enjoy this or the dad's out there?
<v Speaker 1>Will they be able to handle this? Am I going
<v Speaker 1>to be emotionally overwhelmed?
<v Speaker 2>What do you think?
<v Speaker 3>I'm curious and I think the relationship is really well
<v Speaker 3>realizing the fact that, like it feels very believable. I'm
<v Speaker 3>curious how much you will hit home for you as
<v Speaker 3>someone who hates AI. But also they do a good
<v Speaker 3>enough job at like not getting bogged down in what
<v Speaker 3>kind of AI this is? Because it's very clearly like
<v Speaker 3>this was made before AI conversations were going on and say,
<v Speaker 3>this is just this is the type of AI that
<v Speaker 3>we used to talk about of, you know, Steven Spielberg
<v Speaker 3>AI and not genuinely of Ai and so it's like,
<v Speaker 3>oh yeah, but yeah, I think that this will leave
<v Speaker 3>you in a bit of a mess towards the end,
<v Speaker 3>So enjoy that.
<v Speaker 2>All right.
<v Speaker 1>Well, I am looking forward to it. Like I said,
<v Speaker 1>I'll be playing that Friday. Friday evening, I'll be playing
<v Speaker 1>a bunch at least or Lee, I'll go at least
<v Speaker 1>three hours. I expect I might go longer. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that'll be happening. Happening that evening. In the meantime, Like
<v Speaker 1>I said, go Red Mike's review. It's on the website
<v Speaker 1>right now. Go to GiantBomb dot com. You can catch that.
<v Speaker 1>It's definitely worth it. It's gonna get It's not no
<v Speaker 1>spoilers whatsoever. Just gives you a good perspective on how
<v Speaker 1>he enjoyed it, and he did seem to enjoy it
<v Speaker 1>quite a bit.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, let's keep going here. Metro twenty thirty nine.
<v Speaker 1>To be announced on April sixteenth. This is from sal
<v Speaker 1>Ramano Akamatsu. Publisher, Deep Silver and developer for A Games
<v Speaker 1>will announce Metro twenty thirty nine during an Xbox first Look.
<v Speaker 1>Metro twenty thirty nine broadcast on April sixteenth at ten
<v Speaker 1>am Pacific. Time one pm Eastern. The companies announced that
<v Speaker 1>today you will be able to watch it on YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>There's a little quote here describing this will be the
<v Speaker 1>fourth main line entry from for A Games in the
<v Speaker 1>series based on the iconic novels of Dimitri Glukofski glukhovskiyetre
<v Speaker 1>we Go, following Metro twenty thirty three in twenty ten,
<v Speaker 1>Metro Last Light in twenty thirteen, and Metro Exodus in
<v Speaker 1>twenty nineteen, all of which tell the stories of survivors
<v Speaker 1>of nuclear devastation living in the Moscow subway tunnels and
<v Speaker 1>the world that surrounds them. Okay, yeah, this is part
<v Speaker 1>of I guess it's worth mentioning. There were some rumors
<v Speaker 1>coming out of the weekend that there was going to
<v Speaker 1>be an Xbox event on April sixteenth.
<v Speaker 2>This is it. It's for this game. I have never
<v Speaker 2>been able to fully get into the Metro games.
<v Speaker 1>I do get excited each time LEXI where I see
<v Speaker 1>the new one, I'm like, this one looks.
<v Speaker 2>More for me.
<v Speaker 1>And then I played Metro Exodus and I definitely got
<v Speaker 1>into it a little bit more than some of the others.
<v Speaker 1>But even then it's like I don't know, there's just
<v Speaker 1>something that isn't clicking there for me. But I know
<v Speaker 1>there are a lot of people who do really love
<v Speaker 1>these games. What's your relationship with them and what should
<v Speaker 1>we expect from this one?
<v Speaker 3>I really like them. I've beat that first one, and
<v Speaker 3>I've played about halfway through Firstlish, and I want to
<v Speaker 3>go back and finally finish that and beat Exodus now
<v Speaker 3>that I have a capable of running them quite well,
<v Speaker 3>and so I'm curious to see what the next evolution
<v Speaker 3>of this is four games if you like. Look back
<v Speaker 3>even at their list of publishers that they've had for
<v Speaker 3>these games, has had a pretty complicated history over the
<v Speaker 3>years with like Deep Silver and THHQ and the Embracer
<v Speaker 3>Group all that different stuff. So they've never quite been
<v Speaker 3>on like secured ground in a lot of ways making
<v Speaker 3>these games. So I think in the context of that,
<v Speaker 3>they make really great games for what they are. And yeah,
<v Speaker 3>these games have always been very interesting to me.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I say, yeah, I'm interested. I like that, I
<v Speaker 1>like the concept, I like the setting. I want to
<v Speaker 1>spend more time with each one. And then I just
<v Speaker 1>like I said, hasn't clicked, But I'll give this one
<v Speaker 1>another shot.
<v Speaker 2>And we'll see.
<v Speaker 1>I always feel like there's not like a chance that
<v Speaker 1>I went back to Metro Ex. I could get into it,
<v Speaker 1>but that'll be happening one pm Eastern. Because it's just
<v Speaker 1>one game. I'm not sure we'll do like a talkover
<v Speaker 1>for something like that. But there's rumors that there could
<v Speaker 1>be a state of play that day, so who knows,
<v Speaker 1>maybe those games will be back to back.
<v Speaker 3>What's that could be a busy day.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it could be a busy day. Well, we'll see.
<v Speaker 1>I'll reiterate that I haven't heard anything about a state
<v Speaker 1>of play that day, but that doesn't mean there won't
<v Speaker 1>be something there. There could be, all right, Continuing on Fortnite,
<v Speaker 1>adding an Arc Raiders style game with Disney characters.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Eddie McCoo at GameSpot.
<v Speaker 3>I told you stop playing mad libs when we're meant
<v Speaker 3>to be reporting the news.
<v Speaker 1>This one I listen. I always heed your advice. This
<v Speaker 1>is real, LEXI what okay, I'll read. I'll read what
<v Speaker 1>we got going on here. Epic Games and Disney are
<v Speaker 1>working together on multiple upcoming games as part of the
<v Speaker 1>mysterious Disney X or Disney Cross Fortnite project, and now
<v Speaker 1>one of them has seemingly been revealed early.
<v Speaker 2>It's probably not what you expect, though, Bloomberg reported.
<v Speaker 1>The first new game to come from Disney's one point
<v Speaker 1>five billion dollar investment into Epic Games will launch in November,
<v Speaker 1>and it will be a shooter along the lines of
<v Speaker 1>the popular extraction game Arc Raiders. Players will be able
<v Speaker 1>to suit up as a Disney character and duke it
<v Speaker 1>out until they reach an extraction point, sources told the site.
<v Speaker 1>According to the report, internal reviews for the project have
<v Speaker 1>assessed it to be quote not very original in its
<v Speaker 1>current form, but other staffers said they feel optimistic that
<v Speaker 1>it will be in better shape come launch. Disney's investment
<v Speaker 1>into Epic and Fortnite will span at least two more games,
<v Speaker 1>the sources added. An early version of the second game
<v Speaker 1>got middling internal reviews, sources said. The report went on
<v Speaker 1>to say budget for the third game was shifted to
<v Speaker 1>the first two projects because Disney was disappointed by Epic's
<v Speaker 1>release timeline. A spokesperson for Epic Games told Bloomberg Bloomberg
<v Speaker 1>that it's reporting on these unannounced games was not reflected
<v Speaker 1>of the ambitions of the Disney collaborate ration. The spokesperson
<v Speaker 1>said Epic had has aggressive development timelines.
<v Speaker 2>And it has always been this way.
<v Speaker 1>There's there's more here, but yeah, okay, hmm, Disney extraction
<v Speaker 1>shooter in Fortnite or yeah alongside Fortnite whatever, That doesn't
<v Speaker 1>That part doesn't matter. The part of the matters is
<v Speaker 1>Disney characters running around with guns killing each other so
<v Speaker 1>that they can get loop, then go to an extraction
<v Speaker 1>point and then take that loop back and fucking talk
<v Speaker 1>to a fairy godmother mother and have her make a
<v Speaker 1>better gun.
<v Speaker 2>Like what is happening?
<v Speaker 3>Goofy needs to get those enchanted eggs or whatever the
<v Speaker 3>fuck until you'll bring them back to Figment on Figment
<v Speaker 3>will use those eggs to build a better AK forty seven.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I do know, and I do think like
<v Speaker 1>that sounds like what I mean. The idea that the
<v Speaker 1>one internal complaint right now is it's not very original
<v Speaker 1>seems to imply it plays just like Arc Raiders. That's
<v Speaker 1>like I was I was expecting, Oh, it's like Arc
<v Speaker 1>Graders in structure, but it's like so disneyfied and they're
<v Speaker 1>gonna have like a lot of fun with it. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>guns will be de emphasized. It doesn't sound like that's
<v Speaker 1>the case.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, you need to remember this is this is Fortnite.
<v Speaker 3>This is the people who built a video game that
<v Speaker 3>was ostensibly a survival Horde based shooter because Gears of
<v Speaker 3>War was so popular for them, and when that wasn't
<v Speaker 3>taking they looked across the bow and they saw pubg
<v Speaker 3>doing ridiculous numbers and just kind of went, oh, bet
<v Speaker 3>and it turned out. Yeah, it turned out to be
<v Speaker 3>like the most successful business move of the decade in
<v Speaker 3>the games industry, and they have done that time and
<v Speaker 3>again with several other game modes. When Apex Legends introduced
<v Speaker 3>to ping system, they were like, we should, yeah, we
<v Speaker 3>should have a ping system, and you know that it's
<v Speaker 3>just their ethos to game design is you could call it,
<v Speaker 3>you know, issuation on other popular formulas, which yeah, that's
<v Speaker 3>what all same design is. It's particularly shameless in the
<v Speaker 3>case of Epic and the way that they go aboutish
<v Speaker 3>and the degree that they latch onto whatever is new.
<v Speaker 3>You've seen it, and like, I don't think that this
<v Speaker 3>is going to play out in the way that they
<v Speaker 3>hope it will, because you've already seen their community not
<v Speaker 3>be happy with things like Italian brain Rock characters in
<v Speaker 3>their in their game, and this just adds to the
<v Speaker 3>narrative of like, oh yeah, they're just doing whatever's popular now.
<v Speaker 3>They're just taken taken pot shots at whatever might hish.
<v Speaker 1>And it's like it is like that that's sad and
<v Speaker 1>sadder where where you know it's worked out for them
<v Speaker 1>in the past to take all these concepts from other
<v Speaker 1>games and run with them, and it's worked out for
<v Speaker 1>them to match up with the very popular thing of
<v Speaker 1>the moment, get it into Fortnite, and make a lot
<v Speaker 1>of money for both them and their partners all at once.
<v Speaker 1>It just seems like for this massive influx of cash,
<v Speaker 1>this massive investment from Disney, for that to manifest as well,
<v Speaker 1>we exist right now in this point in time. We
<v Speaker 1>got the money from them, so Disney is our focus,
<v Speaker 1>so we got to make something with Disney, and then
<v Speaker 1>let's do our number one business move and match that
<v Speaker 1>up with the thing that's popular right now. And they
<v Speaker 1>look outside their window and it's arc Raiders and like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>I guess we got to just put those two things together.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, is that how it works? Is that what
<v Speaker 2>you're like, that's all you're doing?
<v Speaker 1>That was like the PUBG thing steal, like stealing from
<v Speaker 1>pubg whatever like that was. It felt like, oh, you
<v Speaker 1>saw an opportunity to do your own thing and take
<v Speaker 1>it and run with it. Or even if it wasn't,
<v Speaker 1>it's like do it in a way that is just
<v Speaker 1>a little bit more sleek or whatever. But it made sense.
<v Speaker 1>It made sense. There was clearly a lot of demand
<v Speaker 1>for that. This just feels like they're doing it because
<v Speaker 1>that's what you would do in a board in this moment,
<v Speaker 1>because you can get people excited about this new buzzword
<v Speaker 1>that is extraction shooters, it's.
<v Speaker 2>Going to it's just going to not work, right.
<v Speaker 1>I can't imagine this working, especially based on these early responses.
<v Speaker 3>I mean especially when like the narrative around Epic and
<v Speaker 3>these game modes is they don't support them, you know,
<v Speaker 3>other than the Lego one which happened to take off.
<v Speaker 3>They have not been supporting them to the point that
<v Speaker 3>they've been laying people off who were working on stuff
<v Speaker 3>like the ballistic mode and stuff like rocket racing and
<v Speaker 3>parts of the musical competition stuff that they had going on.
<v Speaker 3>So like, what's different about this, what's different about this?
<v Speaker 3>Other than you got more money to do it. You
<v Speaker 3>got more money from Disney to do it, to make
<v Speaker 3>it the Disney Park variant. What's different?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And it's like, you know, I see people like
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't hasn't that been the approach that you know,
<v Speaker 1>the Triple A gaming executives have used for the last
<v Speaker 1>long time, last fifteen year or whatever. It's like, yeah, mostly,
<v Speaker 1>but I always got the sense that a lot of
<v Speaker 1>times gaming execs were like, Yeah, that's the kind of
<v Speaker 1>thing we would want to see, and then developers would
<v Speaker 1>sort of be like, this is the thing we can
<v Speaker 1>sort of pitch to get our game green lighted, and
<v Speaker 1>so let's really throw ourselves into it and come at
<v Speaker 1>it from a perspective of we could take these things
<v Speaker 1>and do our own thing, or we could take these
<v Speaker 1>things and just sort of make a fun game based
<v Speaker 1>on that. This one, for some reason, just feels like
<v Speaker 1>the most cynical version of that entire concept. Yeah, we'll see.
<v Speaker 1>I think that this does feel like something of an
<v Speaker 1>endpoint for the entire Fortnite saga.
<v Speaker 2>Obviously it won't be the end.
<v Speaker 1>Things will continue after this, but this does feel like
<v Speaker 1>a little bit of a more firm period on the
<v Speaker 1>end of the sentence than just a comma where it's
<v Speaker 1>like Fortnite launched, it changed to this Batle Royale thing.
<v Speaker 1>It got extremely popular, it was able to parlay that
<v Speaker 1>success into partnerships with other brands, and then they sort
<v Speaker 1>of ran out of steam on both the excitement for
<v Speaker 1>the way the game played and for those partnerships, other
<v Speaker 1>than being able to go back to the millennial well
<v Speaker 1>over and over again, which okay, and now here they
<v Speaker 1>are if they're taking big money from one big partner
<v Speaker 1>that wants to sort of get into this space and
<v Speaker 1>that's going to be their next couple of years, is
<v Speaker 1>just trying to satisfy this deal because they're hoping to
<v Speaker 1>get new investments from Disney in the future. So okay, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I think we're at a point where we need to
<v Speaker 1>kind of see what's going to be next to shake
<v Speaker 1>up this space, because it's not going to be Fortnite anymore.
<v Speaker 2>Fortnite is going to stagnate because of stuff like this.
<v Speaker 2>I believe. All right, let's take a break.
<v Speaker 1>When we come back, we will have plenty of more
<v Speaker 1>headlines to get into. Just to let everyone know, GMM
<v Speaker 1>is sponsored by dos A Divas this week, So let's
<v Speaker 1>go check out the trailer right now.
<v Speaker 2>That's right.
<v Speaker 1>This week we are brought to you by our Loop
<v Speaker 1>Games and doc A Divas.
<v Speaker 2>Shoutouts to them.
<v Speaker 1>That game is out tomorrow everybody, so be sure to
<v Speaker 1>check it out add it to your wish list. We
<v Speaker 1>did talk to them at Summer Game Fest at GB
<v Speaker 1>at night and it was great to kind of see
<v Speaker 1>how the game was doing. It's come a long way
<v Speaker 1>and looks really good, as you can see by that trailer,
<v Speaker 1>so definitely check things out. It's twenty dollars. It's going
<v Speaker 1>to be on PC, Switch one and two, PS five,
<v Speaker 1>Xbox Series X and S and again that's April fourteenth
<v Speaker 1>for the release.
<v Speaker 2>All right, let's.
<v Speaker 1>Get back into Game Mess Mornings with Lexi Jeff Grubb.
<v Speaker 2>Let's do this.
<v Speaker 1>The next headline is Borderlands for Nintendo switch To copies
<v Speaker 1>apparently spotted in the wild despite the game being put
<v Speaker 1>on hold indefinitely. This is from Nintendo Everything. There's been
<v Speaker 1>an interesting development with the Nintendo switch To version of
<v Speaker 1>Borderlands scores.
<v Speaker 2>The game has now been spotted at retail.
<v Speaker 1>You may originally recall that the port was planned for
<v Speaker 1>a release last October. However, it was delayed just a
<v Speaker 1>few days before release. Then in fe February we heard
<v Speaker 1>that the development had been paused. That brings us to
<v Speaker 1>the latest update.
<v Speaker 2>Today.
<v Speaker 1>A user on Reddit has shown pictures of Borderlands for
<v Speaker 1>is Nintendo Switch to game key card release? Well, the
<v Speaker 1>game is legitimately recognized by the system, there's no data
<v Speaker 1>to download. That makes sense as the launch doesn't seem
<v Speaker 1>to be happening anytime soon.
<v Speaker 2>It doesn't.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, it seems like they just straight up canceled
<v Speaker 1>that game LEXI. I know they said it was like
<v Speaker 1>indefinitely delayed as how I believe they put it. But yes,
<v Speaker 1>so this thing was up for sale on some website.
<v Speaker 1>I think it was vented or something like that, and
<v Speaker 1>people it's probably just a it's probably just bullshit. It's
<v Speaker 1>probably just someone making this thing as a repro effectively
<v Speaker 1>and putting a card together and then putting that inside
<v Speaker 1>a box, putting a cover on that, and then wrapping
<v Speaker 1>it in shrink shrink wrap. But someone did buy it,
<v Speaker 1>and they looked at it and they're like it does
<v Speaker 1>It seems like it is, as far as the Switch
<v Speaker 1>is concerned, authentic, And I guess that.
<v Speaker 3>Masloads them to a staw page, yes, which is nuts.
<v Speaker 3>It makes a back end page.
<v Speaker 1>Right, an shot back in page, which then fails to
<v Speaker 1>download any data. Right, that's that's where it doesn't work.
<v Speaker 1>And media, Yeah, go ahead.
<v Speaker 3>It says that the dash Uh dashad uselasha as I
<v Speaker 3>think that's Spanish, and I'm assuming that's the lease stage
<v Speaker 3>and says the third of October twenty twenty five. But
<v Speaker 3>then they can't redeem. That's wild, man.
<v Speaker 1>I think this This is a game that definitely felt
<v Speaker 1>at the time like it was canceled or delayed at
<v Speaker 1>the last minute for the switch, right, it was supposed
<v Speaker 1>to happen, supposed to happen. They were getting ready for
<v Speaker 1>the release along with everything else, and then it was
<v Speaker 1>like it now it's coming in October, but it's still happening.
<v Speaker 1>And then they just pulled the plug on it and
<v Speaker 1>said it's delayed indefinitely. So these cards I'm sure were printed,
<v Speaker 1>you know, printed, because it's just the game key card.
<v Speaker 1>It's just a tiny bit of data that does send
<v Speaker 1>you to the store to download the data. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 1>it's I guess it's weird, but I it also is like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>why not get these things ready to go? Because it's
<v Speaker 1>not like we need to have the game finished to
<v Speaker 1>put them on the cards they get.
<v Speaker 2>They're just going to work when it's ready so they can.
<v Speaker 1>All right, let's get them shipped to the to retailer
<v Speaker 1>is going to put in the chain, and people were
<v Speaker 1>able to get their hands on at least one.
<v Speaker 2>This is bizarre.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think this game is ever going to come
<v Speaker 1>to switch to so it's over very weird, Curio.
<v Speaker 3>This is next level dead stock, Like this is dead
<v Speaker 3>stock in a very little sense. And yeah, I actually
<v Speaker 3>have dipped back into Borderlands for because the DLC, the
<v Speaker 3>first DLC pack came out recently and I loaded up
<v Speaker 3>my PlayStation save and I forgot how soft the image
<v Speaker 3>is in that game. That game has performance issues, right,
<v Speaker 3>and like properly is a rough experience to go back
<v Speaker 3>to if you if especially if you've been playing on
<v Speaker 3>PC for a while with like other games. And then
<v Speaker 3>I wound up finding a cheap copy of Borderlands four
<v Speaker 3>PC last week, and so I bought that and I
<v Speaker 3>loaded it up, and boy, that game is explicitly designed
<v Speaker 3>around being able to use frame gen technology like that
<v Speaker 3>game really struggles to get outside of the fory FPS
<v Speaker 3>zone even on a fifty seventy TI, which is kind
<v Speaker 3>of nuts unless you're using frame gen. So yeah, I'm
<v Speaker 3>not surprised this. How did they think this was ever
<v Speaker 3>going to come to switch to, Like I get the
<v Speaker 3>switch to has whatever Digital Foundry call it Mini DLSS.
<v Speaker 2>Later diet or something.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, not the Transformer model, the the other one
<v Speaker 3>an old Yeah, yes, And like I get that, they
<v Speaker 3>probably were told like, hey, this will be able to
<v Speaker 3>you know, upper otherwise things to some degree. But man,
<v Speaker 3>it was never gonna run on this. The open world
<v Speaker 3>in that game, the streaming of assets, all of those
<v Speaker 3>different things, it just was not gonna gonna work. And
<v Speaker 3>if even if it did, it would be a file
<v Speaker 3>size of like one hundred plus gigabytes, it would be nuts.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, I have no idea how they ever thought
<v Speaker 3>that this this would ever be a thing. And it's
<v Speaker 3>fascinating that's out there. I guess if you use vintage
<v Speaker 3>check this out.
<v Speaker 2>I mean I kind of want to copy.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not sure how much the thing sold for, but
<v Speaker 1>but yeah, I kind of would like this.
<v Speaker 2>That'd be a fun thing to have.
<v Speaker 1>But this, you know, this also does give insight into
<v Speaker 1>what happens if there is no e Shop on the
<v Speaker 1>other side, or no no store or no the data
<v Speaker 1>gets taken down. It's like, yeah, of course this is
<v Speaker 1>what was going to happen. It's gonna go to the
<v Speaker 1>store and there's nothing there. But yeah, it's just a
<v Speaker 1>little preview for what might be the case in twenty
<v Speaker 1>five thirty years when the e shop service shuts down
<v Speaker 1>for whatever reason. These gamekey cards will just be complete,
<v Speaker 1>complete waste. They will just be things that are in
<v Speaker 1>landfills serving no purpose whatsoever, I guess, other than looking
<v Speaker 1>like something that was once an Nintendo product, even if
<v Speaker 1>it's not a Nintendo product anymore. Yeah, you're right about
<v Speaker 1>Borderlands for running on this thing when it just didn't,
<v Speaker 1>when it just didn't function on PC's high end PCs.
<v Speaker 1>That was the death nail for that dathel for that
<v Speaker 1>and then the idea like it was also pretty rough
<v Speaker 1>on consoles, but I know specifically on PC, I know
<v Speaker 1>it was very weird.
<v Speaker 2>All right, let's keep going here.
<v Speaker 1>Hacker group confirms it will release stolen Rockstar Games data.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Andy Robinson at VGC.
<v Speaker 1>A group of hackers has said it will will release
<v Speaker 1>data stolen from Grand theft Auto six developer Rockstar Games
<v Speaker 1>after its demands were not met. This weekend, the hacker
<v Speaker 1>group Shiny Hunters demanded a ransom for for data it
<v Speaker 1>said it had obtained from the GTA Studio's cloud servers.
<v Speaker 1>In a statement, Rockstar confirmed the breach but downplayed its impact.
<v Speaker 1>At the time, Shiny Hunters It's always the Pokemon People,
<v Speaker 1>issued a deadline of April fourteenth for Rockstar to pay
<v Speaker 1>a ransom unless the data be released. However, speaking to
<v Speaker 1>the BBC, the group has now confirmed it will release
<v Speaker 1>the stolen data online. Law enforcement advice globally is to
<v Speaker 1>not pay cyber criminal ransoms, as it encourages theft and
<v Speaker 1>comes with no guarantee that the hackers will delete the
<v Speaker 1>stolen data. Shiny Hunters hasn't said what the data it's
<v Speaker 1>obtained is related to, but due to its alleged method
<v Speaker 1>of access a third party tool used to track a
<v Speaker 1>cloud cost, it speculated that potential exposure likely includes financial records,
<v Speaker 1>marketing plans, contract information, players spending data rather than game assets,
<v Speaker 1>and that spending data is the data side of that,
<v Speaker 1>not necessarily your personal information.
<v Speaker 2>Your personal data, at least according to.
<v Speaker 1>Rock Stars so far, which you know Rockstar has been
<v Speaker 1>hacked before.
<v Speaker 2>I bet that this is you know, a lot of
<v Speaker 2>this stuff's probably.
<v Speaker 1>Compartmentalized at this point, and they're they're they're things that
<v Speaker 1>are most vulnerable, like these cloud servers. Probably doesn't have
<v Speaker 1>anything related to your purchases about like actual credit card information,
<v Speaker 1>uh and things like that, although it could have personal
<v Speaker 1>information about the developers.
<v Speaker 2>We're not quite sure about that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, not much probably to add to the story, Lexi,
<v Speaker 1>but this is going to keep happening. Use these hacker
<v Speaker 1>groups will keep attempting to have these ransoms paid, and
<v Speaker 1>most of these companies probably won't pay it because, like
<v Speaker 1>the thing says, there's no guarantee they will actually destroy
<v Speaker 1>it if you pay that money.
<v Speaker 2>So what do you make of all this? Yeah, I am.
<v Speaker 3>This is very interesting that this is happening in the
<v Speaker 3>context of they also have the whole union bustlings thing
<v Speaker 3>going on at the moment YEP, alleged union bustling, I
<v Speaker 3>should say. And so the fact that there is information
<v Speaker 3>coming out around just how much money the company is
<v Speaker 3>making and that is going to be in the public realm,
<v Speaker 3>that is definitely going to add another element to proceedings
<v Speaker 3>with thatsh. Oh, no, we'll now have more transparency as
<v Speaker 3>to how much money rocks are makes. Oh dear, that
<v Speaker 3>sounds awful. Yeah, I'm real bummed. So I'm very curious
<v Speaker 3>to see how that shakes out over the course of this.
<v Speaker 3>And yeah, I'm morbidly curious. I mean, obviously, as a journalist,
<v Speaker 3>handling illegally obtained information is kind of a dubious task
<v Speaker 3>and something.
<v Speaker 2>The public record. Yeah, we'll discuss it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, once you you you have to be careful about
<v Speaker 3>how you obtain is and how you go about accessing
<v Speaker 3>it and things like thatsh. And so yeah, I'm very
<v Speaker 3>curious to see how this plays out. And it does
<v Speaker 3>not feel like this feels like a story that is
<v Speaker 3>just starting rather than anything else. Like the feels like
<v Speaker 3>there's a lot more to come out to this over
<v Speaker 3>the next few days. What day did they say they're
<v Speaker 3>releasing the information or did.
<v Speaker 1>They Yeah, they gave it a deadline of April fourteenth,
<v Speaker 1>which is tomorrow tomorrow, Yeah, yep, I yeah, I mean, look,
<v Speaker 1>this thing's probably got some information that is relatively up
<v Speaker 1>to date about the nature of the marketing plan for
<v Speaker 1>Grand Theft Auto six and that is I think we
<v Speaker 1>could expect probably going to be a pretty substantial marketing plan.
<v Speaker 1>They probably will be spending a lot of money and
<v Speaker 1>being able to see that in stark contrast to what
<v Speaker 1>the union is demanding. Yeah, that'll probably help out the union,
<v Speaker 1>I would imagine, and all that transparency. While you know, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the obtained illegally, as you said, that won't matter for
<v Speaker 1>the actual in the judicial system. Once that stuff is
<v Speaker 1>publicly out there, it will just be part of the
<v Speaker 1>public record and that will be something that they can
<v Speaker 1>appeal to at the very least, So hopefully it does
<v Speaker 1>help them out. As a reminder, people should go watch
<v Speaker 1>people make games videos about that unionization busting effort, alleged
<v Speaker 1>union busting effort from Rockstar.
<v Speaker 2>It's very well done and it seems very clear to me.
<v Speaker 1>But that is my opinion about the alleged union busting
<v Speaker 1>and Chris is the fantastic work with that self. And
<v Speaker 1>if you don't, it was already embedded with them like
<v Speaker 1>as it was happening, which is crazy.
<v Speaker 3>If you don't follow people make games on YouTube and
<v Speaker 3>Blue Sky or whatever, make sure you're doing that, because
<v Speaker 3>they are doing Probably it's the best and most in
<v Speaker 3>depth original reporting in the industry right now.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, I mean and like part of that serendipitous, part
<v Speaker 1>of that's just the hustle of just working hard to
<v Speaker 1>do interesting stuff and then they have this sort of
<v Speaker 1>happen right in front of them as they were trying
<v Speaker 1>to talk to these people, and he's just stuck with it.
<v Speaker 1>It's great to see. It really is encouraging. It's exactly
<v Speaker 1>what the industry needs, all right. On going to the
<v Speaker 1>next one, Microsoft might not launch Call of Duty twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty six on Xbox Game Pass. This is from Bencerrey
<v Speaker 1>at Pure Xbox. In the last couple of years, Microsoft
<v Speaker 1>has made the bet to launch Call of Duty Day
<v Speaker 1>one on Xbox Game Pass, first with twenty twenty fours
<v Speaker 1>Black Ops six, before following it following that up last
<v Speaker 1>year with Black Ops seven. However, a new rumor doing
<v Speaker 1>the rounds suggests that Xbox is considering reversing that decision
<v Speaker 1>for this year's Call of Duty game. As discussed on
<v Speaker 1>a recent episode of the Xbox two podcast, reporter Jess
<v Speaker 1>Corden talks about Cod's place on Microsoft's subscription service, courting
<v Speaker 1>goes on to ponder the thought of Xbox not launching
<v Speaker 1>Call of Duty twenty twenty six, day one on the service,
<v Speaker 1>before following up that he's heard such a.
<v Speaker 2>Move is quote a possibility.
<v Speaker 1>It'll be interesting to see if they take Call of
<v Speaker 1>Duty out of the game out of game Pass this year,
<v Speaker 1>he said, which is a possibility from what I've heard.
<v Speaker 1>I think it will reveal some of the cracks in
<v Speaker 1>the strategy with game Pass possibly, Okay, I will say
<v Speaker 1>that my thought here is that they probably should do
<v Speaker 1>this and then lower the price of game Pass. Of course,
<v Speaker 1>It's like one problem with that is we know that
<v Speaker 1>the price of a service like that will just float
<v Speaker 1>back up naturally over time, and then there's one less
<v Speaker 1>value added in there because they got us used to
<v Speaker 1>it over a longer period of time.
<v Speaker 2>But I don't know, what do you think?
<v Speaker 3>This seems like a self inflicted wound in a lot
<v Speaker 3>of ways. This seems like the being the architect of
<v Speaker 3>your own demise. And I'm not surprised this is happening. Obviously.
<v Speaker 3>This is happening as someone who has had quite strong
<v Speaker 3>opinions on the Call of Duty games, especially recent ones,
<v Speaker 3>and the idea of asking people to pay seven dollars
<v Speaker 3>for what is ostensibly thinly veiled warmongering propaganda, which most
<v Speaker 3>recently was replacing workers ash with AI slop, and also
<v Speaker 3>sucked in the case of Black Op seven, you know,
<v Speaker 3>being nice to Black Op seven that the idea of
<v Speaker 3>asking people to pay seventy dollars for that is bananas,
<v Speaker 3>it's cuckoo, it's wild. I'm sure that they will make
<v Speaker 3>more money off of this, but boy, it won't make
<v Speaker 3>them any friends. I doubt their game pass numbers on
<v Speaker 3>Call of Duty was that high anyway, because anyone who's
<v Speaker 3>serious about playing Call of Duty is buying the one
<v Speaker 3>hundred and twenty dollars version that lets them play a
<v Speaker 3>week early or whatever. But even then, still, this is
<v Speaker 3>yet another pure like own goal for a company which
<v Speaker 3>is still under BDS boycott and genuinely seems like it
<v Speaker 3>is trying to rack up a cricket score against itself.
<v Speaker 3>And it's kind of incredible.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it is the sitting on your own balls of
<v Speaker 1>just the running a company. They just constantly are the
<v Speaker 1>kind of thing where you've tangled yourself so much here
<v Speaker 1>that even if it's if it does lead to a
<v Speaker 1>price decrease, which is something they've you know, that's gone
<v Speaker 1>around as another rumor that Asha Sharma, the new CEO
<v Speaker 1>of Microsoft Gaming, is considering a possibility of lowering the
<v Speaker 1>price or offering new tiers.
<v Speaker 2>So there's a way to pay less for Xbox Game Pass.
<v Speaker 1>But that is I mean, people will go okay, cool,
<v Speaker 1>especially the people who don't like Call of Duty, which
<v Speaker 1>is a lot of people who have Game Pass. It
<v Speaker 1>turns out there's still the next question will be it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>well what wait, I thought all of your games were
<v Speaker 1>in game Pass and if that doesn't if that's not
<v Speaker 1>true anymore, which is really only a bigger question now
<v Speaker 1>because they have put it into game Pass at one
<v Speaker 1>point or at two points, it'll be like it'll be
<v Speaker 1>much more noticeable now if they reverse that decision, and
<v Speaker 1>people will be like, okay, at any moment, anything else
<v Speaker 1>could drop out of here.
<v Speaker 2>And obviously we've seen game Pass change a lot.
<v Speaker 1>Over the years, and we know that there's rumors that
<v Speaker 1>triton side of the service where it's just Xbox published
<v Speaker 1>games in the service, although apparently that won't be Call
<v Speaker 1>of Duty. It's well, I guess not apparently, but it
<v Speaker 1>seems like it's a possibility. It is one of those
<v Speaker 1>things where they've tangled themselves up so much that the yeah,
<v Speaker 1>as you said, it's an own goal. They will only
<v Speaker 1>be able to like get through this after taking a
<v Speaker 1>few more licks.
<v Speaker 2>And it's a company that cannot withstand that.
<v Speaker 1>There's already so much, so many bad vibes, and there's
<v Speaker 1>a guarantee that a game like that, if you care
<v Speaker 1>about it, will be on these other platforms. So it's
<v Speaker 1>just every day with with Xbox, it feels more and
<v Speaker 1>more like I can get their games on these other
<v Speaker 1>play in these other places, whether that's Steam or PlayStation,
<v Speaker 1>and I can avoid the headaches of trying to track
<v Speaker 1>what they're trying to do with their services.
<v Speaker 2>Why wouldn't I do that? Right?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's it's weird, Like like you said, game Pass
<v Speaker 3>was kind of meant to be the thing to get
<v Speaker 3>people to come back to Xbox and start using the
<v Speaker 3>Xboxes more. But you know, if now it's not on
<v Speaker 3>game Pass, why not just buy it on PlayStation? Why
<v Speaker 3>not just buy it on PC? If if that's the
<v Speaker 3>equation that you're doing in your head, yeah, it's why
<v Speaker 3>why buy it on the Microsoft Store on PC when
<v Speaker 3>you could instead buy it on Steam, a platform that
<v Speaker 3>people actually don't hate using yep.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and they already have such a sunk cost there
<v Speaker 1>that they're not looking at your.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, exactly. Uh, we'll see.
<v Speaker 1>I I think, I just I want to see what
<v Speaker 1>Call of Duty even looks like this year. How do
<v Speaker 1>they reignite excitement that they've done it multiple times?
<v Speaker 3>But check check you'll watch its boots on the ground
<v Speaker 3>time they it is time for the soft reboot Boots
<v Speaker 3>on the ground. This is gritty and realistic call of
<v Speaker 3>duty all over again. They strayed too far from what
<v Speaker 3>the fans accept with Black Op seven, and so they
<v Speaker 3>are inevitably going back to this is realistic. This is real, pal.
<v Speaker 3>We talked to real guys about this, and it's so real.
<v Speaker 2>Yep. Absolutely. I know.
<v Speaker 1>I know there's rumors out there about what this one
<v Speaker 1>actually is, but I can never remember because I just don't.
<v Speaker 2>I just don't care anymore.
<v Speaker 1>All Right, let's see here I included that one twice.
<v Speaker 1>Let's skip that Xbox's biggest PS five port yet is
<v Speaker 1>crashing so much some are calling it unplayable. This is
<v Speaker 1>from Ethan Gotch at Kotaku, but ays the RPGs used
<v Speaker 1>to be infamous for launching on PlayStation consoles with all
<v Speaker 1>sorts of bugs and glitches. Starfield appears to be reviving
<v Speaker 1>that legacy, with some issues being so bad that players
<v Speaker 1>are already shelving the game or begging for refunds until
<v Speaker 1>they get fixed, and apparently Sony is giving some refunds
<v Speaker 1>for this. I'm getting crashes every two minutes, began one
<v Speaker 1>thread posted on the Starfield subreddit over the weekend. Tried everything,
<v Speaker 1>deleted saves, tried performance thirty and sixty frames per second,
<v Speaker 1>Delete the game, redownload it, and it's still happening. Every
<v Speaker 1>other game is working fine and I never had any crashes.
<v Speaker 1>It's just Starfield. This is not acceptable. They should refund us.
<v Speaker 1>Other players in the thread listed similar issues, especially for
<v Speaker 1>save files further into the game. While not everyone is
<v Speaker 1>facing crashes, the bugs, ranging from slowdowns to complete freezes,
<v Speaker 1>appears to be affecting players on both PS five and
<v Speaker 1>PS five PRO. Okay, there's two sides of this. There's
<v Speaker 1>two sides for me. The bugs that people are running into. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's just always going to be a part of Bethesda
<v Speaker 1>unless they do figure out some magical way to waive
<v Speaker 1>their AI one and be like, here's one hundred thousand
<v Speaker 1>AI agents going in and playing the game like humans do.
<v Speaker 1>That hasn't happened yet, weirdly, so what's going to keep
<v Speaker 1>happening if they can't figure that out, which we'll see,
<v Speaker 1>is that their games are going to launch it in
<v Speaker 1>such a way that we could not replicate what it's
<v Speaker 1>like to have a million or two million people coming
<v Speaker 1>in here and doing whatever in this world where you
<v Speaker 1>can pick up all these objects and all these things.
<v Speaker 2>One thing can interact with another thing. It is that complicated.
<v Speaker 1>The game crashing bugs though, it really just feels like
<v Speaker 1>that is something you got to get under control. If
<v Speaker 1>you're bethesta, that's where the resources should go before launch,
<v Speaker 1>because that's that's that's the stuff that turns people away
<v Speaker 1>and makes them never want to try Bethesda games. And
<v Speaker 1>yet it's happening again after after it happening so many
<v Speaker 1>times in the past.
<v Speaker 2>It's just this is just Bethesda, right.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, do you want to know the most exciting part
<v Speaker 3>of this story?
<v Speaker 2>I do please.
<v Speaker 3>Oblivion's schedule to come out on Switch to this year.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, I want to see it. I mean
<v Speaker 1>they just went through this with Skyrim. The Skyrim update
<v Speaker 1>on Switch to ran bad at launch. It's better now,
<v Speaker 1>but you expect, all right, you've learned from that and
<v Speaker 1>you will apply that to oblivion.
<v Speaker 2>Fucking see about that.
<v Speaker 3>From what I gathered, the Fallout four portter switch was
<v Speaker 3>generally generally Calamity three. There was obviously large concessions made
<v Speaker 3>to get it running on a switch to but also
<v Speaker 3>that game released in twenty fifteen, So you know, boy,
<v Speaker 3>I don't how the crashing, Like that's not something that
<v Speaker 3>that doesn't that doesn't you know, get missed. That's something
<v Speaker 3>that you were aware of because it seems so widespread.
<v Speaker 3>Like I saw the Digital Foundry people were saying like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>we were experiencing this whenever we were trying to test it,
<v Speaker 3>and it made testing it hard because we can play
<v Speaker 3>it for long periods of time without a crashing. And
<v Speaker 3>if it's not pervasive, then surely you know before you
<v Speaker 3>put out that that is a problem.
<v Speaker 1>If you don't, you have to know, you have to
<v Speaker 1>figure it out, like that's that's the thing, Like it's uh, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I'm not excusing Bethesta here, like this is I'm saying
<v Speaker 1>that's Pathesta, and that's a reason to continue being skeptical
<v Speaker 1>of Bethesda games going forward, like across the board, I
<v Speaker 1>think a lot of people already are. That's where most
<v Speaker 1>people are. It feels like, obviously there's still a ton
<v Speaker 1>of excitement around Bethesta games as they do get released,
<v Speaker 1>and that will be true for Elder Scroll six, and
<v Speaker 1>a lot of people will be there on day one,
<v Speaker 1>but there will be a huge number of people right rightly,
<v Speaker 1>so saying I'm going to wait, and I think other
<v Speaker 1>people should should as well.
<v Speaker 2>But whatever, it's your money.
<v Speaker 1>Because the expectation at this point with a Bathesta game,
<v Speaker 1>because it's Pothesta, should be there is a very strong
<v Speaker 1>likelihood that the game is going to have problems at
<v Speaker 1>launch and in the cases of some games in the
<v Speaker 1>past forever, like like a Skyrim on PS three, which
<v Speaker 1>I know that some parts of that is just the
<v Speaker 1>nature of the PS three hardware, and a lot of
<v Speaker 1>third party ports had like struggled on PS three because
<v Speaker 1>of its memory configuration and.
<v Speaker 2>All that stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Whatever, you still kind of have to like figure out
<v Speaker 1>your games and make them run in a way that
<v Speaker 1>it's not going to be Oh, it just stops working
<v Speaker 1>if you play it for too long, which is what
<v Speaker 1>happened with Skyrim.
<v Speaker 3>I played through all of Skyrim on the PS three,
<v Speaker 3>and I also played through all of Farcry three on
<v Speaker 3>the PS three, which I highly recommend you go seek
<v Speaker 3>out some PS three footage of far Cry three and
<v Speaker 3>see what I was willing to put up with as
<v Speaker 3>a stupid idiot child that people know that there was
<v Speaker 3>better experiences to be had at.
<v Speaker 1>A certain point. I do get a little bit of
<v Speaker 1>Stockholm syndrome with that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>Oh it's so cool. I loaded up and I have
<v Speaker 3>my PS three on this desk right here, and I
<v Speaker 3>load up my Borderlines to save file, which is like
<v Speaker 3>endgame save file, and with a gun Zerker who's the
<v Speaker 3>character who can use two guns, And I equipped like
<v Speaker 3>two torg and the explosive manufacture guns, and I just
<v Speaker 3>started shooting everything. And I was like, oh, this is
<v Speaker 3>like single digit framerates. This rules. This feels like I'm
<v Speaker 3>breaking the game over my knee.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, give me polygons on the Supernintendo at maybe twelve
<v Speaker 1>frames per second. That rules to me. I like that.
<v Speaker 1>That's just yeah. I get that way with some of
<v Speaker 1>that stuff, especially if you figure it out ways to
<v Speaker 1>deal with it. As a kid, it was just like
<v Speaker 1>something about childhood resilience is fun to look back on.
<v Speaker 2>All right, let's see here, let's get this last story.
<v Speaker 1>Fable is still expected to release in Autumn twenty twenty six.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Jonas mackiet Game Reactor. I reported last
<v Speaker 1>week it might have been two weeks ago at this
<v Speaker 1>point that I heard Fable has been pushed internally, but
<v Speaker 1>I clarified I heard it's not coming out next year.
<v Speaker 1>So to me, like the point of that was, let's
<v Speaker 1>look at the schedule of what Xbox has, which is
<v Speaker 1>a lot. Uh, you know, I don't think we have
<v Speaker 1>we have the date for FORTSA, and I.
<v Speaker 2>Think we know Gears.
<v Speaker 1>We're going to get Gears information at the summer game
<v Speaker 1>Fest time. The rumors are putting Halos sometime later in summer,
<v Speaker 1>and it's like, okay, yeah, and this was supposed to
<v Speaker 1>come out in autumn, around the time of Grand Theft
<v Speaker 1>Auto six. And what I heard is they are starting
<v Speaker 1>to worry a little bit about Grand Theft Auto six,
<v Speaker 1>at least in terms of being able to market this game.
<v Speaker 2>So it's like, but it's.
<v Speaker 1>Not coming out next year, so that kind of only
<v Speaker 1>means it can come out after Grand Theft Auto six.
<v Speaker 2>Does that make sense?
<v Speaker 1>And if that would that be December, which technically would
<v Speaker 1>still be autumn up until December twenty first, So it's
<v Speaker 1>just my I would then speculated LEXI, that's like, God,
<v Speaker 1>that would be a prime candidate to slip to next year.
<v Speaker 1>But that's just because of how busy the year is
<v Speaker 1>and Grand Theft Auto six taking up so much, so
<v Speaker 1>much oxygen.
<v Speaker 2>But that's not what's happened yet.
<v Speaker 1>The only thing I've said is they've moved it around internally,
<v Speaker 1>and a lot of that could just be like the
<v Speaker 1>marketing side of things. It could just be like, how
<v Speaker 1>are we going to talk about this thing? Should we
<v Speaker 1>move that stuff around? Move that stuff back? So Grand
<v Speaker 1>Theptdoto six can own the earlier part of the messaging
<v Speaker 1>and we can try to get in after that. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know, what do you think Fable gonna make it
<v Speaker 1>this year? And what are your expectations for how they
<v Speaker 1>talk about the game.
<v Speaker 3>I'd be very curious to see how they felt Indiana
<v Speaker 3>Jones did in a early December that was like the
<v Speaker 3>second week of December or something whatever Mike's birthday is,
<v Speaker 3>who guess, And so yeah, I would be curious to
<v Speaker 3>see how they felt that did in that region for them,
<v Speaker 3>and if they were happy with it, then I can
<v Speaker 3>totally see them putting Fable in that slash, and if not,
<v Speaker 3>I can see them pushing it to maybe a January
<v Speaker 3>or February, that kind of usual Capcom big hitter month
<v Speaker 3>that Capcom have carved out because Capcom don't really have
<v Speaker 3>anything on the books yet for that that pash of
<v Speaker 3>next year. They have Honi Musher for this year's this year,
<v Speaker 3>so unless they have something else unannounced, they don't really
<v Speaker 3>have any massive big game schedule for early next year.
<v Speaker 3>They could maybe have a Monster Hunter expansion, but you know,
<v Speaker 3>expansions enever as big as the single as the whole
<v Speaker 3>new games. So yeah, it's it's a. It's a. It's
<v Speaker 3>not an easy position to be in to have a
<v Speaker 3>massive trip ale A game on the books right now
<v Speaker 3>near completion and have to deal with working around GGA,
<v Speaker 3>which is still a game that seems like it is
<v Speaker 3>also in flux, because I highly doubt Lockstar is going
<v Speaker 3>to be showing you their cards in a kind of
<v Speaker 3>good faith like, oh, we're partners, we'll let you know
<v Speaker 3>when we're gonna Yeah, I don't that's tell you.
<v Speaker 2>They tell you the bare minimum.
<v Speaker 1>And I bet these companies try to get as much
<v Speaker 1>information as they can.
<v Speaker 2>And I'm I'm.
<v Speaker 1>Sure there are like calls from now Asha Sharma to
<v Speaker 1>Strauss's sell.
<v Speaker 2>Neck being like how you doing but any news?
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, I bet they keep a lot close to
<v Speaker 1>the chest because why would they share that stuff? So
<v Speaker 1>they try to sniff it out. But yeah, I think
<v Speaker 1>that that is the real point of this entire story
<v Speaker 1>that I was getting that from the beginning, is this
<v Speaker 1>stuff is still a conversation. The exact final release date
<v Speaker 1>is still in flux because GTA is this thing that
<v Speaker 1>could move around. It might not, but what is we
<v Speaker 1>don't even know, Like if everything goes according to plan,
<v Speaker 1>we don't know what that means for other games yet still,
<v Speaker 1>so you kind of can't even begin to plan because
<v Speaker 1>of that.
<v Speaker 2>So yes, I.
<v Speaker 1>Think this is something that they will try to get
<v Speaker 1>like mostly ironed out by Summer game Fest, but we'll see.
<v Speaker 2>I do think we'll probably get maybe a real real
<v Speaker 2>date at that point.
<v Speaker 3>I just saw a headline and or a skech and
<v Speaker 3>it really kind of sums up my feelings on Pragmaha.
<v Speaker 3>Just I saw it, and I had to voice it.
<v Speaker 3>Kenneth Shephard, I like pragmarh or as. I've taken to
<v Speaker 3>calling a dad game for dads who actually like their kids.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, okay, all right, well then I'll probably like this game.
<v Speaker 3>There's a special type of story that I like to
<v Speaker 3>call I had a I am a man who had
<v Speaker 3>a daughter and realize that women are people. Story. That's
<v Speaker 3>a real common yeah, in a lot of storytelling and
<v Speaker 3>video games for a lot of it. Pragmata is, Hey,
<v Speaker 3>I think my daughter is a great and I've always
<v Speaker 3>thought women are great, and hey, check out how great
<v Speaker 3>they are. Kind of story. So yeah, that's that's my
<v Speaker 3>take on that.
<v Speaker 2>Yep.
<v Speaker 1>I okay, And that's that's what I need right now.
<v Speaker 1>I don't need to hear from uh the other guys
<v Speaker 1>that became the better dad because they finally had children.
<v Speaker 1>We've heard enough from you guys. Could be quiet for
<v Speaker 1>a while. Please, all right. That does it for the headlines.
<v Speaker 1>We have to get to nothing. There was no pole
<v Speaker 1>question because we did the Big twelve, the Bomb twelve,
<v Speaker 1>the Big twelve, the Bomb twelve last Friday. But I
<v Speaker 1>will remind you that we will have another bomb twelve
<v Speaker 1>to end out this week. If you go to giant
<v Speaker 1>bomb dot com, you can scroll down see the Bomb twelve,
<v Speaker 1>go to the vote here tab click there to get
<v Speaker 1>to the form where you could submit your game for
<v Speaker 1>the Bomb twelve, and we will wrap up this week
<v Speaker 1>with the twelve games that matter most of the people
<v Speaker 1>who are really playing video games.
<v Speaker 2>That out of the way. We do have a new
<v Speaker 2>pole question.
<v Speaker 1>But before we get to that, Lexie, why don't you
<v Speaker 1>tell people where they can find you on the internet,
<v Speaker 1>what you have going on and all that good stuff.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, you can find me at lexlod dot xyz Blue Sky.
<v Speaker 3>You can also support me over on Patreon, Patreon dot com,
<v Speaker 3>slash Stopmanu Starpmanu. We're trying to help people break into
<v Speaker 3>the games media and help raise up new voices. We're
<v Speaker 3>hoping to do like a big push at some point
<v Speaker 3>and kind of introduce some new benefits and going back
<v Speaker 3>with podcasts and things like that. It's very dependent on
<v Speaker 3>my time and my personal circumstances, so we're trying to
<v Speaker 3>work around some things. But if you want more original
<v Speaker 3>games media, people coming up through grassroots stuff and we're
<v Speaker 3>a great place to start supporting that. We're going to
<v Speaker 3>have a review of Pragmatter going live over the next
<v Speaker 3>day or two, and we got a little bit late
<v Speaker 3>pre release sort of reviewers finishing it up and writing
<v Speaker 3>their review now. And we're also going to have a
<v Speaker 3>review of Dosa Divas and both of those purely because
<v Speaker 3>we are patreons supported and are going to be paid reviews,
<v Speaker 3>which we don't always get to do, and so that's
<v Speaker 3>that's an awesome thing. And yeah, I'm also going to
<v Speaker 3>be at the Fish Game Summit in Galway next week,
<v Speaker 3>so if you are live it in and around Galway,
<v Speaker 3>come say hi. I'm hosting a roundtable or helping host
<v Speaker 3>a roundtable.
<v Speaker 1>One more show note for everybody when we do do
<v Speaker 1>the bomb Told this week, Eka from from whose works
<v Speaker 1>on Dos Stevas from outer Loop will be on the
<v Speaker 1>show as my co host, which is fantastic. I ran
<v Speaker 1>into him at GDC and it's just it's so great
<v Speaker 1>to talk to a developer that is so forth right
<v Speaker 1>and so open.
<v Speaker 2>It just like he's like, I'm.
<v Speaker 3>Not gonna how to how to cook from Dan Vicult, right.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, Dan Record taught this man everything he knows about cooking,
<v Speaker 1>especially uh the Rito Berger's on a grill.
<v Speaker 3>I would love it if the final like secret Boss,
<v Speaker 3>because docibive is a term based RPG. If the secret
<v Speaker 3>boss that is like more powerful than the actual final
<v Speaker 3>boss is Dan.
<v Speaker 1>Vicot, like like in the second round of a punch
<v Speaker 1>out for the we exactly.
<v Speaker 3>God is Dan Vikot and it's Unholy Burgers.
<v Speaker 1>You're right, that's just that nail. So that's exactly what
<v Speaker 1>Dan record is. All right, let's see here.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>I think with all that out of the way, let's
<v Speaker 1>get to the next poll question that you can answer
<v Speaker 1>for Wednesday show.
<v Speaker 2>Have you played Starfield? Yes?
<v Speaker 1>Yes, now that it's on PS five and no, those
<v Speaker 1>are your options. We'll discuss it. Like I said on
<v Speaker 1>Wednesday's Game Mess Mornings here on Giant Bomb. Speaking of
<v Speaker 1>Giant Bomb, we might be doing a mist today. There's
<v Speaker 1>some as always be coming to Monday with a little
<v Speaker 1>bit of flux in terms of the schedule, but we'll
<v Speaker 1>figure that out.
<v Speaker 2>I thought I was going to be busy. I'm not.
<v Speaker 1>But I have to check in with Mike and Jan
<v Speaker 1>and see what they say. It's up in the air.
<v Speaker 1>There are oh you know, actually I think we did
<v Speaker 1>move it because we're recording something else today, but there's
<v Speaker 1>a chance we might still try to fit in miss today.
<v Speaker 2>We'll let you know.
<v Speaker 1>And then yeah, for the rest of the week, expect
<v Speaker 1>the BombCast, Expect more game mess mornings. We'll have a
<v Speaker 1>Blake Club, we'll have a voicemail dumb truck, we'll have
<v Speaker 1>upf on Friday. As always, looking forward to doing everything,
<v Speaker 1>and then we have plenty of cool other things happening.
<v Speaker 1>There's always going to be new premium shows dropping now,
<v Speaker 1>new episodes of either Portal Pals or Nine Lives Ofter Nostopheles,
<v Speaker 1>and we'll let you know what's happening with the Endurance
<v Speaker 1>run soon as I get finished uploading all of these files.
<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, it's so much.
<v Speaker 3>And if they do record some myths today, make sure
<v Speaker 3>to join me for the post missed podcast that we're
<v Speaker 3>doing cold. Don't missed out.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, everybody, it's it's it's hot right now, don't
<v Speaker 1>missed out.
<v Speaker 2>You don't want to miss out, don't.
<v Speaker 3>Blame all of the plot of mist again back to
<v Speaker 3>you in painstaking detail.
<v Speaker 2>And you get you.
<v Speaker 1>Also do our top ten missed puns that we say
<v Speaker 1>on each episode, which is.
<v Speaker 3>Very important of course, and we get the writers on
<v Speaker 3>for the for the show. You know the writers that
<v Speaker 3>you have for for My morning.
<v Speaker 2>Miss right, Dana Gould, Yeah, exactly, Yeah, a bunch of others. Thanks.
<v Speaker 1>Shouts out to our writers as always. All Right, I
<v Speaker 1>think that does it. I think we got everything wrapped
<v Speaker 1>up here. We did a good show. LEXI, thank you
<v Speaker 1>so much for hanging out with me today and talking
<v Speaker 1>about video games.
<v Speaker 2>I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that was a fun one. That was That was
<v Speaker 3>a good one. We didn't have any Mind's Eye news,
<v Speaker 3>and every time I come on the show, I pray
<v Speaker 3>for more mind z II news.
<v Speaker 2>I hope.
<v Speaker 1>I think we'll get. Well, that mission's coming out soon, right,
<v Speaker 1>is it not out?
<v Speaker 3>It's due, it's due, it's not any Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, Mind's Eye is nigh, is what they're saying out
<v Speaker 1>on the streets. Uh. We're gonna get out of here.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you everybody for listening, Thank you everybody for watching.
<v Speaker 1>You are the best audience in gaming. Until next time,
<v Speaker 1>have a good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
