Speaker 2: Back number two, Kentucky Sports Radio eight five to nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven Text Machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five for One of the things I've learned here is how many people people think played for Georgetown. Fifteen people have written Mark Jackson played for Georgetown. He did not play for Georgetown. He played for Saint John's. It's a fact. Don't have to look that one up. Yeah, that one's not right. Reggie Williams, Reggie Lewis played for Northeastern. Heard Williams. Reggie Williams played for Georgetown. Sleepy Floyd played for Georgetown. Uh, Jordans Burk's played for Georgetown. Former cat.

00:01:37
Speaker 3: You know there's a kid from Lexington and went up and played at Georgetown.

00:01:39
Speaker 2: Mac McClung played at Georgetown. The dunk champion who who from Lexington? V.

00:01:45
Speaker 3: Sandford went to Georgetown year and then transferred to Dayton.

00:01:48
Speaker 2: I remember V. Sandford? Where do you go to high school?

00:01:51
Speaker 3: Lexton Catholic? V.

00:01:52
Speaker 2: Sandford? Here is a name from the past. We'll go for V. Sanford. All right, Let's go to a couple of things here before we go. The phones. First of all, truth, we looked it up. He was completely lying about me saying I was going to give him tickets. He called on my birthday completely made it up. I didn't even tell him to come to the bar. I didn't say anything to him. I didn't say I didn't even We didn't even talk about the basketball game. I just asked him how he was doing, tell him his health was good. And somehow he transformed that into I was bringing him to the Indiana game and giving him.

00:02:22
Speaker 3: Tickets, get him tickets, buying him dinner. Probably had to drive him over here.

00:02:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody did say he called while I was in South Africa. Did you promise him tickets? Oh?

00:02:31
Speaker 3: I know I didn't promise him tickets because I don't I don't have ticket.

00:02:33
Speaker 2: Could it have been you?

00:02:35
Speaker 3: Oh no, no, all right, I shout out to chet Lemon and found that phone call. We have proof, shout out to him.

00:02:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think right would have promised tickets though.

00:02:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, now I feel bad.

00:02:46
Speaker 4: I stood up for truth yesterday, said he wouldn't make that up, and now I feel like I've been pulled into it.

00:02:51
Speaker 2: I think that was the That was the sort of definitive type of truth call. First of all, doesn't tell the truth, so start with that. Just completely. He goes against his name, says I offered him tickets then ask for something free, but calls me an idiot while he's asking for me to do something for him free like that. That's such a classic hymn, and that's why we love him.

00:03:13
Speaker 4: Hope he calls back more often.

00:03:14
Speaker 2: But people were suggesting to me for the top twenty shows suggestions, and there were some that I had forgotten about. You know, I kind of had probably fifteen of my twenty, but there were probably ten suggested yesterday that now I'm gonna have to adjust just my list a little bit. You know, somebody i'd forgotten for some reason slipped my mind, the dead giveaway show Erics. I mean, that's gonna be on the list. Me getting frustrated because they kept waiting and waiting, and then he missed the show, and me towards the end spontaneous quit.

00:03:47
Speaker 3: Listening to that show. You two guys over there, you couldn't quit listening because you felt it building.

00:03:52
Speaker 4: I have a picture on my phone if me and Matt with the biggest smiles wearing Eric c con t shirts. I'm just gonna keep that away wait on the internet.

00:03:59
Speaker 2: That was one of those pictures. You know, here's a funny story. When I hired the company to investigate myself, which is still the worst money I've ever spent to spend money for people to go like investigate you. Why would anybody want to do that? But I did, and they gave me the thing. And it's so funny to have your life revisited in this is what people could say about you form yeah, in a PDF. And one of the things was there's a picture of you in a criminal Eric C. Kahn, And I was like, yes, there's a picture of me with a shirt of a criminal on to our radio show. That goes with it with Abraham Lincoln statue there.

00:04:46
Speaker 3: But if you remember, at that time, Charles Ramsey was the number one topic in the country and he you got the first interview with him after all that happened, Like that was the first time he spoke to the public.

00:04:57
Speaker 2: I know. It was a crazy it did that song, everything about that was and the Obama girls she was there, the girl that danced like she was what a bizarre Eric se Khan is a bizarre like part of Eastern Kentucky lore, isn't it. Yeah?

00:05:19
Speaker 4: And that day especially, you just keep naming characters that were there.

00:05:23
Speaker 2: So yeah, but we didn't have a that has to be on the list.

00:05:30
Speaker 4: So before you go on, a lot of people have told me I have to come forward and make sure that you include the Ambient episode. I'm gonna put it on there. You were just you sang with Kentucky Joe. You were challenge people to foot races. That has to be in there. Well, yes, I just making sure.

00:05:50
Speaker 2: There was somebody sitting at that table right there, and I looked directly at him and said, I could beat you in a race. Bring it on.

00:05:56
Speaker 3: Oh you did that to everybody who was sitting here that day, not just one person, everybody. I can I can beat you, I can beat you. Did you think something was wrong with me? Yes, Drew and I both said it, like after the first segment or second segment, we both like, oh he's on one today. We just thought you were high on life. We didn't know you were high on ambient.

00:06:13
Speaker 4: I thought it was one of those shows where like sometimes Ryan's gone, like even when we were at Memorial recently, me and you get a little slap happy. I thought it was one of those you were just in one of those moods. I didn't know you actually had.

00:06:24
Speaker 2: Some about that show is I can't remember any of it. I can't because I had I was so because what happened is not only so I take ambient sometimes at night, and I take blood pressure medicine during the day. But the blood pressure medicine I take two of this pill. But I got him confused. So not only did I take ambient, I took two of them, which is like which would should have made me fall over a sleep. But then I immediately went on the radio, and I don't remember any of it.

00:07:02
Speaker 3: Good radio, I'll give you that. I don't want to go listen to it.

00:07:05
Speaker 2: Yeah, because I'm kind of mortified about what I might have done.

00:07:08
Speaker 4: We'll just just take our word for it. It's in the top twenty. You can find out where you want to put it in the top twenty, but it's in there.

00:07:14
Speaker 2: All right. Uh. I've also gotten more text messages about places to eat in Richmond than I ever thought I would after yesterday a couple updates. Casa whatever. Wasn't that the place? So that's closed now, so it can no longer be on the list. RP Nuevo whatever. Many confirmations about the Margaritas and Madison Gardens almost stoops level of unanimity and people liking it.

00:07:46
Speaker 3: If you go to eat in Madison, I in Richmond, Madison County, you need to go to Madison Garden. It is really really good.

00:07:51
Speaker 4: Why don't you take us ron I would like to experience.

00:07:53
Speaker 3: I might go there by myself and have wings.

00:07:55
Speaker 2: One day.

00:07:55
Speaker 4: I'll sit on the other side of the restaurant.

00:07:56
Speaker 2: All right, I'll tell you what one of the days I will send you to made all right, there you go. We won't say which one, so people don't come to meet you love it because you have to eat by yourself. But I'll let you go there one day.

00:08:06
Speaker 3: I We'll be happy to do that.

00:08:08
Speaker 2: The UK volleyball team on Sunday has a top five matchup against Texas. This is probably for the SEC Championship at Kentucky has a chance to win their eighth straight or ninth straight SEC volleyball title. If they win Sunday, they will almost certainly get it. It's at Texas. The UK volleyball team is having a watch party here at one o'clock on Sunday. We're gonna have it on the big screen, so I hope everybody will come out and support the volleyball team. It'll be right here on Sunday at one o'clock. But for UK volleyball, if they win, not only win the SEC, probably get a one seed in the NCAA tournament, which would allow them to host all the way up to the final four here at Memorial. Huge opportunity for the volleyball team on Sunday.

00:08:56
Speaker 3: And they're just growing as far as the fan fan club, I mean, the matches are sold out, all the wall costume, people are getting into it. The last time we had a watch party here we were packed. So I'm looking forward to it on Sunday.

00:09:09
Speaker 4: Texas's rank second. Both teams are undefeated. Kentucky hadn't really had much of a scare through the SEC so much, just swept Alabama, I think. But this is the big test coming up. One of these teams is gonna have to take an L and slide down.

00:09:21
Speaker 2: And then UK baseball you probably, I mean we're not. We're away from baseball season. But when Tennessee's baseball coach left, Tony Vottello, two of their high ranked recruits have now flipped to Kentucky. One of them was from Lincoln County.

00:09:37
Speaker 3: Taylor County, I think Taylor County.

00:09:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's now flipped to Kentucky. They had another one do it last night. So the loss of the crazy baseball coach at Tennessee to the Giants probably paying dividends for Kentucky baseball.

00:09:50
Speaker 3: You know, that's one they can give about min Jon and the UK baseball staff. They have done a great job with the transfer portal, bringing in any new players every single year, not just.

00:09:58
Speaker 2: These are recruits.

00:09:59
Speaker 3: Yeah, the recruits they kind of you know, a good mix of recruits, but the transfer portals where they've been just killing it.

00:10:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, and we know how he had that program rolling there for a while. I was pretty excited to see him leave, and now we're already getting some of the benefits before his season even comes up.

00:10:13
Speaker 2: Yeah. And then finally, for fans of the old cover the Fade this podcast with me and Drew. You may remember we talked about a football game called the Battle of the Ravine. Okay, it's Henderson State versus Awa Awa Wata Baptist. Is that right?

00:10:33
Speaker 4: We have the hoodies, right.

00:10:34
Speaker 2: We have, so we talked about it on Fade This. Then the one of the schools sent us hoodies. I have a hoodie. Well, it's called the Battle of the ravine because the school the two schools are right next to each other. The only thing that's between them is a ravine. They're the two closest schools next to each other in America that play each other in football. Well game day Rhys Davis says they are likely on No. Remember fifteenth to do game day from the Battle of the Row. It will be the first time they ever do a Division two game, Henderson State against a wall watch a Baptist.

00:11:12
Speaker 4: I love this. You're right there across the street from each other, and I think it's the oldest rivalry in football and their all time record is like two or three games apart.

00:11:21
Speaker 2: And they march when they play. You know, they do alternate home stadium huh, even though that they have stadiums that are like across the street from each other, and the school that they're playing will march across the ravine to the other school of it to what for the game the team will do it. So, first of all, that has to be a cool atmosphere if they do game day there, And secondly, you would have heard it for the first time unfade this.

00:11:48
Speaker 3: I'm glad you guys brought that up. Kind of brought it to all of our attention. Now I'm glad ESPN's gonna be but I haven't said for sure they do it. They said that's one of the finalists.

00:11:55
Speaker 2: But I hope so, I hope they do it because I like Game Day. It's gotten great ratings, so they're probably pretty happy with it. But I do miss They used to, like once a year go to somewhere random, and it doesn't feel like they've done that in a long time. This would be a cool thing to do.

00:12:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they just went to Fandy that was pretty random, but they've earned that one. This one came up because Billy was calling random people in Arkadelphia. Remember, Yeah, yeah, so we just had Billy we do a random town and then this is how we learned about it.

00:12:22
Speaker 2: It was in and it's in Arkadelphia. So just uh, I think a cool possibility.

00:12:27
Speaker 3: I love that story, and I hope they do.

00:12:28
Speaker 2: They hope they do it. Who's up next? Isaiah's up next? Isaiah? Go ahead, Isaiah.

00:12:35
Speaker 5: Hey, Matt, I saw something last night with us being so bad in the sec the picture of our two guys jumping up in the air and holding hands.

00:12:44
Speaker 2: That was in hindsight that was a bad sign for the season to come.

00:12:50
Speaker 5: I agree.

00:12:50
Speaker 6: Uh.

00:12:51
Speaker 5: And then my second point is I saw a graphic on Instagram and it said, uh, said, who would you want to have on your team that's are on a Tuchy's team that is in the G League now that it would still be eligible, Like ty Ty Washington I believe was on there, Ashtonhagen. So who are those kind of people do you think would pay would be a better fit for us next year going into next year's roster if we could get him?

00:13:15
Speaker 2: Yeah? So Kentucky has I saw we have something like fourteen guys playing in the G League this year from Kentucky. It's it's a it's a lot more than you would think. If you could pick one of those players to be on this team, I'd probably say I was gonna say Kobe Bray. I think my answer would probably be Kobe Braya because I would like to have a dude who can just knock down threes left and right, wouldn't you.

00:13:44
Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a good answer, just to be different. I wish we'd gotten more Jackson Robinson. I don't know if this team would really need him, but I would love for him to get another chance at Kentucky with how it ended. You know, what is season end in February last year.

00:13:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, so I would.

00:13:58
Speaker 4: Say him more of just to give him.

00:13:59
Speaker 2: The opportunity this team with Kobe Bray, though, can you imagine, like with these guards we have the penetrating through the lane and then kicking out what he could do? Wow? I mean seriously, he would be Now I don't know how he would fit in defensively with this group, but I he he would be someone that would be perfect for Kentucky this year.

00:14:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, he's the answer. I guess you could add in. We still don't know what Lowe will look like. But if you wanted a little safety, a Lamont Butler back with some defense and.

00:14:29
Speaker 2: Now we could play out.

00:14:30
Speaker 3: We could maybe use Lamaro Williams as a backup in the front court.

00:14:34
Speaker 2: I think we got plenty of front court. That's why I'm worried we got too many front court guys. But uh, yeah, I think I would go Kobe Bray. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven a night Draft Kings, you could go to Draft Kings Bet five. You can get up to two hundred dollars in bonus bets. Let's do the World Series tonight. It's Game five two two. Generally speaking, when it's too two, whoever wins Game five wins the series. So you got Game five tonight. U Yes, Savage for the Blue Jays and Blake Snell for the Dodgers.

00:15:04
Speaker 3: And I had a fun fact about Blake Snell. Okay, he pitched for the Bowling Green Kentucky Hot Rods when he first got into professional baseball.

00:15:13
Speaker 5: Is that right?

00:15:13
Speaker 2: How about that? Yeah, Bowling Green Hot Russ. He came up through Tampa Bay. I guess, okay, yeah, so who you got?

00:15:20
Speaker 3: Uh man? The Blue Jays are hitting a machine right now, and they they you know, he got so hey last night. So I'm gonna go Blue Jays. I got Blue Jay's to win the series. Actually you do?

00:15:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, you should have put money on that one.

00:15:31
Speaker 3: I did do some good bit of whole two dollars on that one.

00:15:34
Speaker 2: Okay, there you go. You bet two dollars of the Blue blue Jays.

00:15:38
Speaker 4: Okay, I can't bet against the Dodgers. I was surprised that they lost the last one they went tonight. My fun fact about Blake Snell is that he wins tonight.

00:15:49
Speaker 2: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go Dodgers. Did you see this story about how long it takes to get out of the parking lot of the Dodgers game.

00:15:56
Speaker 4: I saw the aerial helicopter view of them leaving the eighteenth and and I thought, even I like staying late, I'm not like you leaving early. There's no way I could have been a part of that.

00:16:05
Speaker 2: Says the average amount of time it takes to get out of the parking lot of a Dodgers game is an hour and a half. Do you know how crazy I would go in that scenario.

00:16:16
Speaker 3: You would get out of your car and you'd be directing traffic out there to try to get out of there.

00:16:20
Speaker 2: I it would be. It would be the worst thing that I can imagine. Awful eight five nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. We'll take a break right back, Cutty, I saw welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. You know we've been doing this so long, Like you just had a ryan and walked in here. I really did, And I said, you see that girl right there, she looks like a girl that worked here when the bar opened, and then Drew goes, that is the girl that worked here when the bar opened.

00:16:52
Speaker 4: Yeah, I already said hot to her.

00:16:54
Speaker 2: You know you do this long enough and you start to go, ah, wait a minute, yo, I really I have a buddy who's like daughter is like about to graduate from college. That can't be real, right, I can't. I can't be that old canna yep yippers. Let's just act like that's not true, because that's that's that's depressing, isn't it.

00:17:16
Speaker 4: Just look at your Facebook and then remember thirty nine.

00:17:20
Speaker 2: That's what they say. You're only as old as your Facebook if I'm nine two eight h twenty two eighty seven. One person writes, Matt, you get one ticket to any game this year, home or away. Where are you going? One ticket? Home or away? So you also have to consider what the atmosphere will be like at the game, which one you go into. I would probably.

00:17:41
Speaker 4: Say the Rick Reunion in Atlanta. You're picking Rick the I went to the game in Atlanta a couple of years ago, Rob Dillingham, North Carolina that one, and Atlanta really puts on a good crowd for a UK game, So I think it'd be the same as much as I love New York City and Michigan State just doesn't do it for me in the Champions Classic. So I put Rick with a slight edge over Gonzaga in Nashville.

00:18:04
Speaker 2: Bran.

00:18:04
Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with the Florida game at Roperina.

00:18:07
Speaker 2: See that's what I was gonna say, Florida game at Rupperina. It is the last game of the year, decent chance that could be for the SEC Championship. It's on a Sunday, so it's like the LA I mean it's a Sunday. I think it's Sunday at four o'clock. It's gonna be a wild atmosphere. It could be the senior Day. I think that's gonna be. That's probably the one I'm picking.

00:18:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, I can foresee it the whole conference coming down to that game.

00:18:31
Speaker 2: So it'll be crazy that would think about how awesome that would be if the whole conference comes down to Kentucky.

00:18:36
Speaker 3: Florida on the last That's when Roperena is its best too. A big game, big situation like that, that's when Roperena's rocking.

00:18:42
Speaker 4: I really think it does. We did a video of our preseason predictions and I said March seventh, Kentucky versus Florida will decide the SEC regular season.

00:18:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I looked it up.

00:18:51
Speaker 4: It's been like twenty something years since Kentucky and Florida have met in that last game with something that actually matters on the line.

00:18:57
Speaker 2: I'll also say I think an underrated one's to be Kentucky Carolina on that Tuesday night. I mean, it's gonna be nine o'clock, it's late, but Carolina hasn't been in here in a long time, and just you know, they're not great, But Caleb Wilson's gonna be a top five to seven pick in the NBA draft. It's Carolina coming in here. I think that's gonna be another really good one. Attitude.

00:19:20
Speaker 3: There is something about just seeing that ugly shade of blue, that pale shade of blue on the court with Kentucky that makes it special.

00:19:27
Speaker 2: Now, who's up next? John? Is up next? John? Go ahead? John.

00:19:33
Speaker 7: You mentioned how they're probably not gonna start stoops during the season, but they might do like a press conference thing like, hey, time's up here.

00:19:41
Speaker 2: And he's leave.

00:19:42
Speaker 5: Would they do that after the Auburn game or after the Florida game?

00:19:47
Speaker 2: I think if they did it, it would be after the Florida game. That's my that would be my guess. I mean, I have no reason to think that's definitely gonna happen, but to the extent I think it would, I think they would announce it before the Florida game. I think the reason you'd do that is to try to salvage the experience in the atmosphere at the Tennessee Tech game, which is the next week. So I would say I would be very surprised if an announced. Now, if we're going down to Auburn and lose by forty and then that's a whole different situation. But if it's competitive, then I think it would be the Florida game. Okay.

00:20:20
Speaker 8: I appreciate the other thing was like, I think, like you probably still want to have like say, like Summer all or someone else's calling plays or in charge for like the Tennessee Tech.

00:20:30
Speaker 2: Game or for like the rest of well, summer of it's not gonna be college colin place. He's just got his own team.

00:20:36
Speaker 8: Not Summer White.

00:20:37
Speaker 2: Brady. Yeah, well, but why if it's the defensive guy. I appreciate the call. I mean, I I think, you know, I I don't know. You don't really have an option if you were to let him go mid year to finish this. I mean're gonna finish the season with Bush Hampton as a coach. You're gonna finish the season with Brad White as a coach? I mean, you know, what are you gonna do?

00:20:59
Speaker 4: He would probably be bred just that he's been here the longest and kind of been holding it together. Anyway. I think if they're not competitive at Auburn here in a few days, the message from the fans will be sent against Florida.

00:21:12
Speaker 3: The Florida game makes sense because they would no longer be Bowl eligible. I think Mitch would wait till they're either mathematically no way.

00:21:19
Speaker 2: There, but they're still Yeah, exactly, they'd have to play the Florida game for them to be mathematical. I think that's a really good That might be the best explanation. He's not gonna say you're gone until they're mathematically.

00:21:33
Speaker 3: I agree, yep. I think he would hold on. If they lose Auburn, then lose Florida, then maybe something might happen then Florida games at night.

00:21:40
Speaker 4: Are you happy about that? I was, or I would have been months ago. Now I'm just kind of like, just let's just get through this.

00:21:49
Speaker 2: Just it is gonna be cold though nighttime. Florida's not used to that.

00:21:54
Speaker 4: No, I agree with all those things, but like even winning that game, you know, I'll always appreciate it win over, but I'm still just gonna be like, all right, just give me past Thanksgiving so I can watch basketball.

00:22:05
Speaker 2: Who's up next? Adam is up there? Adam, go ahead, Adam.

00:22:09
Speaker 8: He goes to the color of Point in the first hour. Who said, you know, leaves the sophomore class may transfer out. You also have to think that if you hire the right guy, he's going to bring in his own players with him.

00:22:22
Speaker 2: Yes, from that school.

00:22:23
Speaker 8: So it's kind of a new point.

00:22:26
Speaker 2: Well, remember Signetti brought the James Madison team to Indiana. Next year they're in the playoffs. So exactly.

00:22:36
Speaker 8: My question is, besides the Kentucky Purdue game, what exhibition is stuck out to you the most? This surprising or you know, yeah, I would.

00:22:46
Speaker 2: Say for the yeah, or it would be Arkansas. Arkansas is good. Arkansas's played really well in two different games. I mean, they beat Cincinnati by twenty five and then they played Memphis and one again, and they've looked good in both games. I think Cayle's got a real team down there. So that's that's probably the thing that stuck out to me the most.

00:23:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, I haven't watched those games, but I did, you know, search names and read recaps, and it looks like his freshman guard, especially Milik Thomas, is gonna be good.

00:23:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, Kyle's always at his best if he's got a great freshman guard, that's all. Historically that's always been one of his best and it looks like he might have that this year, and so they may be pretty good. We'll take a break and be right back. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back at this Kentucky Sports Radio. If I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven, Antonio Reeves, how did we forget Antonio Reeves? He's in the G League. That's my pick for who would be on it? You could pay. I'm in Antonio Reeves. What Antonio Reeves stand like? I'm uh Antonio Reeves.

00:23:50
Speaker 3: You're president of Antonio Reeves fan club in this town?

00:23:53
Speaker 2: For sure? Yeah, because I think he was I think he was great, and he was underrated and by his senior year he could do everything. Uh huh. You know, his his junior year, he was a good shooter, but by his senior year he could score in every way possible. And I still think he col played him despite I don't think he particularly liked playing him, but he just too good. He didn't have choice.

00:24:13
Speaker 3: So he's in the G League right now. He was on a roster most of the year last year, wasn't.

00:24:17
Speaker 2: He He was on the roster for the Pelicans. But I think he's on the Hornets G League.

00:24:20
Speaker 3: Now, what about Oscar?

00:24:22
Speaker 2: He's on the G League too.

00:24:23
Speaker 3: He's in the G League too. Yeah, we can make a pretty good starting five out of a G League guys.

00:24:27
Speaker 4: I mean, Oscar's great. I just think we have big Yeah, I do, only we need Oscar. Yeah, I love Oscar, but.

00:24:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, Oscar teams have to run through Oscar, which I wouldn't want this team to do.

00:24:38
Speaker 4: You know one guy that's bouncing back and forth in the G League in the in the Hawks, that's blowing up as Jacob Toppin has really really had some big games with the Hawks. He might not even be in the G League anymore. They might have promoted him. But he's a name we don't mention that's really stepped up since he's gotten at least on the fringe of being a pro player.

00:24:57
Speaker 2: How about tyre SMAXI By the way he joined, I think it was like Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor from most points ever in your first four games of the season.

00:25:08
Speaker 3: Pretty good a company to be with. That's pretty good if.

00:25:11
Speaker 2: You're Tyrese Maxey. But can you believe how good he's got.

00:25:14
Speaker 3: He is just he is a super starting to making. You know, we've seen Shay and the growth he's got. He's MVP max. He's gonna be in that conversation maybe this year, next year.

00:25:21
Speaker 2: Also, Yeah, I mean he's he's another one we kind of forget when it comes to UK guys that play here. We kind of forget Tyrese Maxey. But he was that Michigan State game in the Garden was still well, that was a fun, fun game that year.

00:25:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, and Philly fans love ty Res Maxy. He's not just how good he is, he's got a great personality. Remember we put out that video opening a can opener a few weeks ago. Like he he just seems like a down to earth He's almost seems like a kid almost, but they love him there, We loved him here.

00:25:54
Speaker 2: Yeah. Sorry, congrats to Tyrese. How good he's been. Who's up next? Wildcat? Gary? Gary? Go ahead, Gary? Hey, Matt.

00:26:03
Speaker 9: So we're all in lockstep with getting rid of Stoops? But does anybody actually trust Mitch making the next hire?

00:26:15
Speaker 2: All right? Fair question? Do you appreciate the call? Do you trust Mitch Barnhardt to make the next tire? Ryan with me? I do?

00:26:22
Speaker 3: I mean, I know he had a misstep with Joker, but outside of that, he hired you know, Rich Brooks, he hired Mark Stoops. So far our football program goes He's he's two out of three and at the time Joker seemed like a great hire. So I guess answer a question, I trust Mitch Maarnhot with with his hire?

00:26:36
Speaker 2: No, oh, you do not. I didn't expect that to be your answer.

00:26:41
Speaker 4: I agree with Ron, he's made some good ones, but the sport has completely changed and he wasn't loving the change. And I think the top priority needs to be someone who loves in il and the chaos, and I don't know if that has been Mitch's mindset since it's happened.

00:26:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's an interesting view.

00:26:58
Speaker 4: I want somebody that's trying to be on the somebody with maybe they don't have to be young, but maybe a new coach with some fire that's really ready to jump in.

00:27:07
Speaker 2: Just do the people that he was looking at for the basketball coach. Does that make you feel any better the fact that he would have been willing to hire a Danny Hurley because I mean on a personal level, he would have hated Danny Hurley. Yeah, and he was still willing to put aside that personal whatever it would be that he had for Danny Hurley that he was he was willing to do that. Does that make you feel like he'd be willing to hire, you know, someone like that.

00:27:37
Speaker 4: No, Marke Pope was a great higher I'm not doubt playing that. I just worry about football is different circumstances to.

00:27:44
Speaker 2: Your point, though, Mark Pope was a great hire. Though that also fits the kind of person. I mean football we need, we need a little a little different. Yeah. Yeah, that's interesting. I mean I would say and like Scott Drew was, he was all in on that. But Scott Drew is a very Mitch Barne.

00:28:00
Speaker 4: I mean, it worked out with Pope, love it great job, Mitch with football, I still would worry.

00:28:05
Speaker 2: Well, let's be like this. Let's say he had a phone call tomorrow from Lane Kiffin that says, I would I would like to come coach at Kentucky. Do you think you would hire Lane Kiffin? Yes, he would.

00:28:17
Speaker 4: I'm not sure if if you have an ad that turns down Lane Kiffin. Right now, they need to be at the unemployment office.

00:28:22
Speaker 2: So you think he would do that?

00:28:23
Speaker 4: If Lane Kiffin genuinely wanted to be at Kentucky and you couldn't make that happen, get out of here.

00:28:27
Speaker 2: I don't care who you are, Okay.

00:28:28
Speaker 3: I think the fact that he he had to go make Danny Hurry Hurley say no. I think he knew you have to go out to the best of the best. So I think just the fact that he did that would leave he would do the same with Lane Kiffin. If lang Kiffen called, he would definitely.

00:28:42
Speaker 2: I mean, look that lankiff is not coming here. I'm just sort of theoretically saying, would he Do you think he would make personality keep him from getting.

00:28:49
Speaker 4: Somebody if they're a Lane Kiffins type that's not as proven as Lane Kiffin I'm trying to think of an example. I could see him not loving it.

00:28:58
Speaker 2: Well, let's just use some names. You think he would hire James Franklin.

00:29:03
Speaker 3: I think he would talk to name.

00:29:05
Speaker 4: I think he would have to.

00:29:07
Speaker 2: Let's let me you this would our fan base if James Franklin got announced as the coach. Would our fan base be excited?

00:29:15
Speaker 4: I think a lot of them would. Some people just remember him running up the score from Vandy the Citrus Bull. It's more of a personality thing anywhere he goes. I mean, the people that work with him say he's a jerk. You'd have to get over that. But he has outside of winning top ten games, which was the problem at Penn State, he is a winner, so I mean what he win at Vandy.

00:29:32
Speaker 2: So you do think they'd be excited? Do you think people be excited?

00:29:37
Speaker 3: I think you know, Mark Steus was the fourth or fifth or sixth choice when they hired him, and the only thing I knew about Mark Stuch was his last name. But I talked myself into getting excited about him. So you think I'll do the same thing about James Fridge. You get excited about Brian Kelly. Oh you know, I watched that Saturday down South thing, and I grew to where I did not like that man at all. That'd be tough to get excited about him.

00:29:58
Speaker 4: I couldn't do Brian Kelly, but he couldn't even think he's won everywhere he's gone.

00:30:02
Speaker 2: No, I just got I.

00:30:03
Speaker 3: Couldn't do it.

00:30:04
Speaker 4: I mean, I'd sit here and cheer for the team, but I would not like Ryan Kelly, would you?

00:30:11
Speaker 2: No? No? But I I mean, if you were just talking about quality of coach, he's probably a much higher quality coach than almost anybody else we could get, probably, But from a personality perspective, he is awful. I mean the my phone ler like, like.

00:30:34
Speaker 4: I just could come in here and try to do Kentucky accents and talk about our stuff. Where's Maha Brown?

00:30:40
Speaker 2: You know? I just think they need to go get They need to go get a young guy who this is they want to take on the world, and this is the way they take on the world. That's what they need, and they need somebody who who this is their passion and who they look at this fan base and say, let's go and let's make it to the new era. What I would say about Mitch hiring him is I'm okay with Mitch making the hire. But what I would say to Mitch is, if you're leaving in a year, he needs to look in the mirror. If he's leaving in a year, then he needs to let whoever's replacing him have a role in this, because I do not think it's the right thing to do to leave and then leave the next person to deal with whatever you did.

00:31:26
Speaker 3: I can see if this happens and he has to hire a new football coach, I see him staying on for a couple extra years just because of that. Like I can't, I can't leave this to the new guy. I gotta kind of see this through.

00:31:35
Speaker 2: But I also would say to Mitch, you've done a great job, but let's not act like you're the only person that can do anything. You know, sometimes Mitch, I think does have the view of I'm gonna stay here to make sure this well. We don't. Other people can do things. You're not the only person on earth that can manage you know what I mean?

00:31:54
Speaker 4: I understand we also remember whoever the coach is, whatever you think of how they pick. I mean, Mitch's to have to sit down with their agent and come up with an agreement.

00:32:02
Speaker 2: I definitely would like we know how we get some extra lawyers in the room for mitches negotiation this time. Let's let's get a couple of people in there, because I don't think he can do that on his own. Who's next, David, Go ahead, David.

00:32:17
Speaker 10: Hey, Matt, this is David and I'm called just a few minutes away from the former home of Eric she Kahan.

00:32:24
Speaker 2: Well, good, nice, says, Nice to have you, David.

00:32:27
Speaker 6: Okay, thank you.

00:32:28
Speaker 3: Hey.

00:32:28
Speaker 10: I just say I wanted to say, I think we're all happy that Jasper and all the great Kentucky boys that we have Cutter, Trent, Jasper and Malaka, and we could have a fifth guy in there, Travis Perry, but you know he went to Old miss and uh, I'm not happy about that. But it seems like a lot of you guys on the radio constantly defending.

00:32:49
Speaker 2: And defend Travis.

00:32:53
Speaker 10: Well, yeah, Travis, I mean you. I mean I remember growing up when there's a guy named Todd May and everybody roasted him for being a trader when he went well.

00:33:04
Speaker 2: It's a different time, though, it's a different time. I mean, Travis wasn't gonna play this year if Travis Perry was on this team, he'd be the thirteenth man. So if he if he yes, and and while I think UK would have liked to have had him, he did the right thing. He's gonna he may start for Old Miss. He wasn't starting here, so I don't consider him a trader at all. Travis did exactly what Travis should do for Travis.

00:33:34
Speaker 10: Okay, I can dig that. I just wish he would have went somewhere rather than the SEC. But I guess he's got a thing for Chris Beard.

00:33:41
Speaker 2: And well, yeah, he almost went to Old Miss out of I mean again, think about his options. He lives in Lion County, Oxford, Mississippi's not that far from Lion County. People don't really there's a.

00:33:54
Speaker 4: Lot of Western talking people that end up at Old Miss. It's not far.

00:33:57
Speaker 2: It's not that far. And then Chris Beard Speard tried to hire or excuse me, tried to get him out of high school. So I don't I don't think that's it made perfect sense to me. And on this I appreciate the call. They're not a rival to us, really, I mean, we're in the same conference, but it's not like it's not like we have serious old miss issues. Do we?

00:34:17
Speaker 3: I don't, And I think most people probably want him to have a great season. Just don't shoot the lights out against us, you know, do what you want to against other teams. Light up Mississippi State, don't light up Kentucky.

00:34:27
Speaker 2: I have no animosity to Travis. I don't either.

00:34:30
Speaker 4: I would have done the same thing he did if I were in his shoes. Whose minutes is he taken on this current team though?

00:34:35
Speaker 2: On I mean, we were gonna go get a better backup than him.

00:34:39
Speaker 4: Yes, So they paid good money for him, and he doesn't have an NBA career. He has to get what he can right now in this wild world of college basketball.

00:34:46
Speaker 2: And there were a couple of things that happened during the season with some folks around Travis Perry that I don't think made everybody UK feel the best. So I think that was part of it as well. I don't think it was Travis, but some of it. I don't think he was well served by a couple of the people around him, And that stuff matters too in today's world, So I think I think it was the right decision. Commonwealth causes their bourbon raffle is tomorrow Ryan. It's a big raffle. They want me to do this Halloween read sir. Let me tell you what it says. The bourbon raffle is downright eeriesistible.

00:36:20
Speaker 4: I don't have a costume, but I will try to throw something together.

00:36:24
Speaker 3: You don't have to twist my arm. I absolutely will dress up.

00:36:26
Speaker 2: Now, you can't wear the same costume you wherever. You cannot come as a night. You have to go to cost I know, but you do it every year, So you have to do something else. If you're doing this, you have to be something else.

00:36:36
Speaker 4: Okay, mine's up to how quickly Amazon can dress me. I don't have anything, but I will if I can get it.

00:36:42
Speaker 2: Okay, So we're gonna do a costume. Mario, you're gonna do a costume. You can do this as BRONI I think you will. So we're doing a You let Shannon know we're doing a costume. Okay, I'm contemplating, just so you know, being a whiskey thief. Oh very clever. Yeah, so I'm probably not gonna do it, but that's why I've contemplating. We'll take a break and be right back. This s Chazar Water Maggon is Kentucky Sports Radio. If I'm not two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, you caught me singing during the break I've been You were.

00:37:18
Speaker 3: Singing gloom, despair and agony on me. Why are you singing that?

00:37:22
Speaker 2: Well? Uh, that's I was singing that. But I've been on a heathw kick. It showed up on my TikTok and it's the one that's like, uh, where where are YouTube night? Why did you leave me here all alone? So those on TikTok it came up like I've watched an hour's worth of them, because you know, it always starts with the guys like my wife and mine, no, and like he does, and then like some country singer turns around yeah, and then they spit in each other's face at the end of it, which, again, this was entertainment when we went, like when I was a kid, people just going you were gone. You all know Shannon's not here. Shannon would appreciate it when he was singing with you. You were singing it, Okay, So that's nice. But I've been that's been on my mind for for days, and I made up a couple about Mark Stoops. Let's hear them. Yeah, well, okay, I have to. I'll take it.

00:38:23
Speaker 3: Let's take a call while you get it ready to get in the mind frame.

00:38:26
Speaker 2: And so I can get in the mind from to do my Mark Stoops? Where or where are you tonight? So I'm not on ambient tonight. I promise. Who's who's next? Mike is up there, Mike, go ahead, Mike here, man, I've had to get into yesterday.

00:38:40
Speaker 8: I had a question I wanted to ask you, but then we think I know what's at.

00:38:49
Speaker 2: Well, we lost it. Sorry, you're breaking up. I can't hear you. I'm sorry. Who's up next? Sarah is up next? Sarah? Go ahead, Sarah. Hi. Yes, I just wanted to let you all know my family is actually of the Hayden Bourbon family and Basil.

00:39:10
Speaker 1: You are pronouncing it Basil.

00:39:12
Speaker 5: It's actually Basil Hayden.

00:39:14
Speaker 2: It's Basil. Okay, clarify it is.

00:39:17
Speaker 10: Yes, the bourbon and the basketball player both are Basil Hayden.

00:39:22
Speaker 4: Thanks for the correction. That was me that said it wrong. I apologize. Bourbon, good Bourbon.

00:39:26
Speaker 2: Now.

00:39:27
Speaker 4: I'm glad to know how to say it.

00:39:28
Speaker 3: I've definitely heard it both both ways.

00:39:30
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:39:30
Speaker 3: I remember, like when he was still alive, they introduced him one time and ruppering, like in the late nineties he was still alive and then let everybody know he was the first All American and UK basketball.

00:39:39
Speaker 2: I didn't know that Basil Hayden the first All American in UK.

00:39:43
Speaker 3: History, and they named this bourbon after him.

00:39:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's cool. I well, thank you. I appreciate it. Sarah, Yeah, it's no problem.

00:39:50
Speaker 5: Thanks you all all right.

00:39:51
Speaker 2: So I'd like to do this song that I wrote, please do, but I don't know if I can get the you can't. Last night I saw Stopes hang in that Rubies. He looks so sad and started to dash. I hollered and said, don't worry, old Marky. Thanks too, Mitch Barnhart, you still have the cash. Where where are you to night?

00:40:19
Speaker 3: Why did you leave me here all alone?

00:40:23
Speaker 2: I can't do it anymore. I'm I'm sorry. I can't do it anymore.

00:40:26
Speaker 3: I want to do the borpie in your face though.

00:40:28
Speaker 2: I actually wrote that for my friend Duncan I just wait. We were doing he he We were riding back and forth. Some of them I can't read, but that was the one I was able to do.

00:40:38
Speaker 4: Sound like a busy night at the Jones House was like, now you go eat by yourself.

00:40:43
Speaker 2: This is what you have to look forward to next week. It was up next. They can't top that one.

00:40:48
Speaker 7: You I remember the first stage you laugh, Rick. I think in the whole time of you producing the show is right there, go ahead, David ad David.

00:41:02
Speaker 6: Yes too, quid questions with stuts, do you think the public understanding that he was wanting to leave Kentucky has affected his game this year at all?

00:41:14
Speaker 2: And no, second one, don't actually don't. I think they've actually prepared surprisingly well considering all that's been going on.

00:41:23
Speaker 6: Okay, and then a second one is our injured point guard? Any idea what time this year he might come back?

00:41:31
Speaker 2: He'll be back? I think before the Louisville game. Do you expect him to be back for the season opener Drew Dot jaylen Lowe.

00:41:37
Speaker 4: They might rest him one more because there's two before Louisville. I would say certainly about the second game. First one, we'll see Pope updates here and.

00:41:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, we all see him in two hours. That could be your question.

00:41:47
Speaker 4: There you go run lead all questions to ask.

00:41:50
Speaker 2: Is pain, stiffness or a numbing sensation preventing you from enjoying watching your favorite teams? I cannot believe I say that you nailed it because I did write it, and I was proud of myself when I did it. This was not ambient and it includes it, says Marky, because that's what they do on the show. They always would put people's name and add a why to it.

00:42:25
Speaker 4: You know, my favorite part of the song what looking up and seeing Mario getting video of it, was not putting that one out.

00:42:31
Speaker 2: That was my video there you can do that now, that's that's that's not a video song. All right, that's it. That's it. You had to be here so we will see you tomorrow. Here it can as far this is been Kentucky Sports Radio
