<v Speaker 1>He'll be don't be bad. It's the Internet. You're busy.
<v Speaker 1>Let's do this for October sixteenth, twenty twenty four. For
<v Speaker 1>the next hour or so, let me help you sort
<v Speaker 1>through the world of gaming on Game mess Mornings Live
<v Speaker 1>with Me Jeff Grubb. Today, Astrobot is about to take
<v Speaker 1>over my life, and io Interactive is publishing the new
<v Speaker 1>game from former Grand Theft Autodebs. But first, please join
<v Speaker 1>me in welcoming today's co host, the Game Mets Mornings.
<v Speaker 1>It's Sean Tarbo, Sean mcd Sean, how are you doing
<v Speaker 1>my life?
<v Speaker 2>Uh?
<v Speaker 1>Pretty good, Jeff, Yeah, I'm glad to hear me.
<v Speaker 2>I need to address something, please, we need to. I
<v Speaker 2>think someone on the show need say issue on apology
<v Speaker 2>US some fans of a certain game. Maybe you say
<v Speaker 2>something to the metaphor freaks, Jeffrey.
<v Speaker 1>I did Star Metaphor today.
<v Speaker 2>Oh I didn't expect this twist.
<v Speaker 1>Actually yeah this morning, yeah, this morning, I was like
<v Speaker 1>I had to the Steam deck was acting funky in
<v Speaker 1>the middle of the Nine Souls and I had to restart.
<v Speaker 1>I did an update and then I was like, you know,
<v Speaker 1>I was I was meant to start Metaphor, but I
<v Speaker 1>did nine nine souls instead.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>And I started up, and I'm you know, not really
<v Speaker 1>you know, playing the game yet. But I found nothing
<v Speaker 1>that has pushed me away either. I mean, listen, it
<v Speaker 1>is it. It's doing the thing where it is jumping
<v Speaker 1>back and forth between all these different things. And that's
<v Speaker 1>not to be like, oh, I can't keep up with
<v Speaker 1>a story. I understand everything that's happening. It just feels
<v Speaker 1>a little uh, not stunted. It just feels a little
<v Speaker 1>bit uh a messy at first to me. Uh. And
<v Speaker 1>but that said, it's not pushing me away yet, right,
<v Speaker 1>especially the dialogue, right, especially the dialogue in context.
<v Speaker 2>Ally one missed our conversation last night at a different show.
<v Speaker 2>Funny how Jeff changed his tune as soon as he
<v Speaker 2>was given context of Hey, that corny line is delivered
<v Speaker 2>by cornball. Weird how that works? Huh?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, absolutely. And after, of course, after the show, I
<v Speaker 1>remembered the thing that got me interested in and made
<v Speaker 1>me want to start metaphor, which was they used magic
<v Speaker 1>to replace a monarchy with democracy.
<v Speaker 2>Jeff, this game, this game is about rebellion from the
<v Speaker 2>lower class.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, okay, that's good overthrowing.
<v Speaker 2>The monarchy, like that introducing democracy to the people, and
<v Speaker 2>perhaps most crucially, actually the church is bad. We need
<v Speaker 2>to take those guys out too.
<v Speaker 1>I like all those things the most Jeff Brobass set up. Ever,
<v Speaker 1>it's thet yes, exactly, so all that stuff got picked.
<v Speaker 2>And the police.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah okay, so yeah, game of the year then, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I'll say that the style, of course, of course that's working.
<v Speaker 1>The music very good, no surprise, we all know who's
<v Speaker 1>making these games. But yeah, I'll try to stick with it.
<v Speaker 1>I'm very unlikely I'm going to finish this game.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's what I've always been saying. Like, I think
<v Speaker 2>you'll appreciate why other people like it, but it's a
<v Speaker 2>long game you don't really have the time for. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>not necessarily your style. So I'll be happy I get.
<v Speaker 1>Something out of it. Though. If I play for twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty five thirty hours and I feel like I like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>I get it, I'll be That's completely fine with me.
<v Speaker 1>I'm okay with with a game doing that sort of
<v Speaker 1>having that sort of relationship with the game. And I
<v Speaker 1>don't think that's necessarily a negative for me. I think
<v Speaker 1>others might, but for me, that is completely fine.
<v Speaker 2>Speaking of I just passed at thirty hour mark last night,
<v Speaker 2>and I saw some stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, just what everybody says right around there. It really
<v Speaker 1>amps it up.
<v Speaker 2>So there's a story that goes places. It is very good.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Also did you did you gain into any battles yet? No? No, no, no,
<v Speaker 2>of course, because yeah, Cam is right in the chat.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what the guy's is saying in the
<v Speaker 2>battle team, but he has been.
<v Speaker 1>Ohay straight, I didn't want to hear that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, Latin bars, Jeff, it's it's amazing.
<v Speaker 1>I barely started. I think I just got through the
<v Speaker 1>recruitment scene and got recruited in the army.
<v Speaker 2>So okay, yeah, and things really pick up after that point.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, oh yeah, And again I didn't think it was
<v Speaker 1>such a bad like that was a quick.
<v Speaker 2>Entry for a persona persona style game. It's pretty quick
<v Speaker 2>going in the beginning, and like give nothing else that
<v Speaker 2>the fact that they like get you walking around and
<v Speaker 2>actually playing the game within the first like what thirty
<v Speaker 2>mins or something, which is you know, it's not just
<v Speaker 2>cut see dumps in the beginning.
<v Speaker 1>That's that counts for something, you know, better than I expected,
<v Speaker 1>which again, you know, I'm very very much talking about
<v Speaker 1>just myself and my you know, impatience and my you
<v Speaker 1>know a kind of tendency to drift away from a
<v Speaker 1>game if it like if it doesn't keep my attention
<v Speaker 1>fully and it's like, no, this was not a problem.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, interesting, But more importantly, uh, showing all those
<v Speaker 1>Pokemon leaks happened and we talked about we talked about
<v Speaker 1>in the bomcast yesterday a little bit, and I mostly like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that weird company is very weird, and and also people's
<v Speaker 1>personal information that worked at game Freak leaked things like that.
<v Speaker 1>It is my understanding, so and you know it was
<v Speaker 1>a leak. It was not a leak. It was a hack.
<v Speaker 1>Someone was there was a phishing scam to my understanding.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but that's what we know too, because not all
<v Speaker 2>this is public. It's weird how a lot of this
<v Speaker 2>is coming out right, so Insomniac hack adjacent.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so I'm only kind of half paying attention because
<v Speaker 1>it's you know, a lot of stuff is going to
<v Speaker 1>be in the weeds. But you're you're, you're my Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>freak anything like stick out to you there.
<v Speaker 2>That's the thing about this is not a lot in
<v Speaker 2>there that I find interesting. Yeah, at least so far,
<v Speaker 2>we don't know exactly everything that's in the leak because
<v Speaker 2>it's being filtered out through like specific Twitter accounts, who
<v Speaker 2>are you know, talking to people or like on these
<v Speaker 2>four champels keep game deleted. So it's weird to me,
<v Speaker 2>like as a journalist, not I'm not dressed, but from
<v Speaker 2>a juralistic sense, like trying to, you know, figure out
<v Speaker 2>where is this actually all coming from, trying to find
<v Speaker 2>some you know, not necessarily that I want to get
<v Speaker 2>like this copyright info and having it down on my ass,
<v Speaker 2>but I want to like figure out at least where
<v Speaker 2>is this coming from. And no one's really saying which
<v Speaker 2>obviously because it would get taken down. So situation is
<v Speaker 2>very weird. So it's being all filtered through and Serve's
<v Speaker 2>layers upon layers. It's that we're getting stuff like random
<v Speaker 2>text documents that may Google translated that we can't verify
<v Speaker 2>the source of. So that's how you get these like
<v Speaker 2>creepy Pasta's stories. That's how we're getting like the origin
<v Speaker 2>of Pokemon more that we can't actually verify any of this,
<v Speaker 2>And so obviously if you see something flown around like
<v Speaker 2>oh hey, here's a prototype of Pokemon X and Y.
<v Speaker 2>Like obviously that's real and like any of these high
<v Speaker 2>rest assets and everything, but a lot of it is sketchy,
<v Speaker 2>So I'm taking some of it with a grain of
<v Speaker 2>salt here. If nothing else, it could be poorly translated stuff.
<v Speaker 2>At the end of the day, it's a lot it's
<v Speaker 2>mostly like beta sprites leak, right, concept, and so it's.
<v Speaker 1>Like, you know, interesting to see. I always I'm always
<v Speaker 1>happy to.
<v Speaker 2>Be interesting historically, but yeah, it was never meant to
<v Speaker 2>be seen for a reason because yeah, it's bad. Right,
<v Speaker 2>There's a reason they never like made a this official
<v Speaker 2>because they know it's bad. Yep, it's a weird situation.
<v Speaker 1>Well, yeah, we'll keep an eye on it. If anything
<v Speaker 1>else gets confirmed or it becomes news worthy, we'll cover
<v Speaker 1>it on the show. Of course. You know, let's explain
<v Speaker 1>what we do here most weekdays, I Jeff Grubb, will
<v Speaker 1>help piece your gaming life back together. That includes breaking
<v Speaker 1>news and maybe even some of our own original reporting.
<v Speaker 1>For all these topics, I'll get the input of a
<v Speaker 1>bona fide expert who will make me look smart. You
<v Speaker 1>are watching live on twitch Welcome. You can always listen
<v Speaker 1>to the show later on podcast feeds by searching for
<v Speaker 1>game Mes Mornings or find therss on giant bomb dot com.
<v Speaker 1>You can also catch the show later with chapters and
<v Speaker 1>timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube. All right, we have a
<v Speaker 1>lot to get into, so let's start the morning mess
<v Speaker 1>for real with new Astrobot speed Run levels start rolling
<v Speaker 1>out Thursday tomorrow. Let's do this. It's time for everybody
<v Speaker 1>to put the shit talking aside. We got to actually
<v Speaker 1>do the gaming. I'm very much.
<v Speaker 2>Smoke you and Dan. I can't wait.
<v Speaker 1>I'm looking. I'm looking for someone to actually give me
<v Speaker 1>a challenge, Sean, So I welcome it, all right. None
<v Speaker 1>of these other jokers can come close.
<v Speaker 2>I'm actually worried about you White.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I lock in on these games. This is
<v Speaker 1>my stuff. So it's almost a matter of especially the
<v Speaker 1>way that they're doing it. We'll talk about it, but
<v Speaker 1>the way they're doing it, this is going to be
<v Speaker 1>very good for me because one level is how I
<v Speaker 1>like to play these games, like, one level at a time.
<v Speaker 1>So this is from Darren Bontus at GameSpot. Astrobot developer
<v Speaker 1>team Asobi My Love has announced the launch dates for
<v Speaker 1>its new and free bundle of speed running levels. The
<v Speaker 1>first one, Building Speed, will be available starting in October seventh, tenth,
<v Speaker 1>and we'll see players team up with the bulldog Booster
<v Speaker 1>Barkster to help them weave their way through a series
<v Speaker 1>of obstacles like cranes, crates, and even even a flying
<v Speaker 1>car wash. Timasbey will release a level every week at
<v Speaker 1>six am Pacific time nine am Eastern, and in total,
<v Speaker 1>there will be five of these new stages to race through.
<v Speaker 1>Each level will also have two brand new bots to rescue,
<v Speaker 1>inspired by characters like Eve from Stellar Blade and the
<v Speaker 1>hell Divers. In addition to rescuing adorable bots, each of
<v Speaker 1>these new levels will have an online leader board for
<v Speaker 1>the speed runners looking to earn Bruggin rights. Let's go.
<v Speaker 1>Here's the full schedule. I mean, it's just dates and names.
<v Speaker 1>I'll read them. October seventeenth is Building Speed. October twenty fourth,
<v Speaker 1>Let It Slide, October thirty first, Spring Loaded Run, October seventh,
<v Speaker 1>November seventh, Helium Heights, and November fourteenth, Rising Heat.
<v Speaker 2>All right, so kind of infer less, yeah, exactly.
<v Speaker 1>If probably gonna get.
<v Speaker 2>The puffer fish and the water on.
<v Speaker 1>The heat on the rising heat and stuff like that. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>Helium Heights. Yeah, you're right. The flying thing Astrobat was
<v Speaker 1>released September six, blah blah blah. Yeah, hey, fantastic. This
<v Speaker 1>is a very cool way of doing things. I think
<v Speaker 1>one of these, you know, fly by night corporations like
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo could learn something here, like they should be doing
<v Speaker 1>similar stuff with Nintendo World Championships. Yeah, I'm looking forward
<v Speaker 1>to it. I think they crushed it with the speed
<v Speaker 1>running levels in Astro's playroom, clearly something they did to
<v Speaker 1>just sort of beef up that game, Like they're like,
<v Speaker 1>let's you know, this is a pack in. It's a
<v Speaker 1>glorified tech demo. Obviously it's more than that. But I
<v Speaker 1>think when they're making it, they're like, well, what can
<v Speaker 1>we do with the stuff? We have to sort of
<v Speaker 1>add more replayabilities so people have a reason to stay
<v Speaker 1>in this game when they get their PS five And
<v Speaker 1>so they just turned some of the levels they had
<v Speaker 1>into sectioned off speed running courses and it was great.
<v Speaker 1>It was fantastic, really good time. I am definitely looking
<v Speaker 1>forward to doing what to see what they're going to
<v Speaker 1>do here where these are, to my understanding, show like
<v Speaker 1>all new levels.
<v Speaker 2>Right, that's all we saw offer on e trailers at least,
<v Speaker 2>and yeah, I think they explicitly said, but also just
<v Speaker 2>looking at the levels, you can tell it's stuff we
<v Speaker 2>haven't seen in the game before. So yep, that's pretty sick.
<v Speaker 2>I think when you're making a platformer in twenty twenty four,
<v Speaker 2>you have to know if people are going to do this,
<v Speaker 2>or in twenty twenty for that matter. So that's why
<v Speaker 2>they're doing stuff like this, is because they know what
<v Speaker 2>people want after the game is over. They want to
<v Speaker 2>get more value of it. And what's an infinite well
<v Speaker 2>of value from a platformer speed running, So it makes
<v Speaker 2>all sense of the world to support this stuff. I
<v Speaker 2>think it's really cool.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And for me, it's just there's so many things
<v Speaker 1>that are video games, you know, the walking stimulators are
<v Speaker 1>video games and RPGs with a lot of cut scenes,
<v Speaker 1>anime cut scenes, even video games. Yeah, I just for
<v Speaker 1>me like video games that like the hardest with me
<v Speaker 1>is I can just lose myself trying to do this
<v Speaker 1>one level better than I did it before. And I
<v Speaker 1>really appreciate it when games can includ that, it means.
<v Speaker 2>A lot you like you like you like the game
<v Speaker 2>more than the video and that's totally respectable because I'm
<v Speaker 2>the same way a lot of the time.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, exactly. And it's and and I think the leaderboard
<v Speaker 1>is like the crack cocaine version of it. Let's just
<v Speaker 1>really boil it down to the chemicals that actually activate
<v Speaker 1>your brain. And this is exactly that. So looking forward
<v Speaker 1>to it. This was already you know, in in the
<v Speaker 1>conversation for my personal Game of the Year right there
<v Speaker 1>near the top, were talking Bilantro, you know, like a dragon,
<v Speaker 1>infinite Wealth, a handful of others.
<v Speaker 2>It's in the running on the site, definitely.
<v Speaker 1>It's in the running on the site as well. I think, yes,
<v Speaker 1>you know, I yeah, Prince of Persia, the Lost Crown
<v Speaker 1>still up there for me. A lot of a lot
<v Speaker 1>of things up there, but Astrobot kind of might be
<v Speaker 1>a favorite, uh once this happens. And you know, on
<v Speaker 1>the less than Tindux yesterday I started talking about like
<v Speaker 1>kind of feeling off with games at the moment, a
<v Speaker 1>lot of stuff not hitting. Obviously, I think Nine Souls did.
<v Speaker 1>I'm playing Metaphor now, and that's like I'm giving that
<v Speaker 1>a chance, and I feel really good about that. So
<v Speaker 1>it's like, Okay, I might be coming out of this
<v Speaker 1>phone already. But I throughout those like two and a
<v Speaker 1>half three weeks where it was kind of between games
<v Speaker 1>and nothing was working, I was constantly thinking, and I
<v Speaker 1>just waiting for the Astrobaut's speed Run levels because it's
<v Speaker 1>kind of what it felt like.
<v Speaker 2>So it sounds right to.
<v Speaker 1>Me now now they're here tomorrow, tomorrow, and so I
<v Speaker 1>do propose I'm gonna throw it out there. Who knows
<v Speaker 1>what we're gonna do. I think on Friday, maybe we
<v Speaker 1>should try to do one of those invitationals where we
<v Speaker 1>maybe it takes it turns playing the level, or or
<v Speaker 1>all played it to play together, maybe share our gameplay
<v Speaker 1>to either me or Jim.
<v Speaker 2>I think it could be really fun. Yeah, Jan wants
<v Speaker 2>to produce, and like me, you, Mike, and Dan are
<v Speaker 2>all running. Yeah so the same time.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mentioned it. We'll see like what Jan's appetite
<v Speaker 1>is for for producing putting that together. But I really
<v Speaker 1>look forward to something like that, something along those lines.
<v Speaker 1>At the very least, we're gonna be playing this on
<v Speaker 1>our own time, sharing our best runs on social media,
<v Speaker 1>poking each other and the other thing I like about
<v Speaker 1>this PlayStation five will give you a notification when someone
<v Speaker 1>beats your time in speed runs in leaderboards at least
<v Speaker 1>that's how yeah, exactly, and you'll get I think you
<v Speaker 1>get it on the app as well, so uh.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, you're out at the grocery story like gotta
<v Speaker 2>get home. Beat Dan's ass.
<v Speaker 1>One of the there's definitely a clip of this, and
<v Speaker 1>if someone wants to find it, I would appreciate it,
<v Speaker 1>but don't feel like you have to. But uh, when
<v Speaker 1>we were doing Astro's play room speed runs and it
<v Speaker 1>was me and Dan and some other guy, Mike, I
<v Speaker 1>don't think Dan really knew him. Uh, and uh, Dan
<v Speaker 1>was streaming trying to beat one of my times, and
<v Speaker 1>he did. But while he was doing it, I was
<v Speaker 1>also playing that level and I got a better time
<v Speaker 1>that he did not know about. So he beat my time.
<v Speaker 1>Was so excited, went to go check the leaderboards. So
<v Speaker 1>you can get that moment of all the endorphins like
<v Speaker 1>rushing in. It wasn't me like, what the what the hell?
<v Speaker 1>So sweet, so so sweet. So I look forward to
<v Speaker 1>moments like that this time around as well.
<v Speaker 2>Definitely all right.
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo Switch On Line Plus Expansion Pack celebrates its third
<v Speaker 1>birthday with a tiny teaser for new stuff. This is
<v Speaker 1>from Evan Campbell at GameSpot. Don't forget to wish the
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack service a happy, happy birthday.
<v Speaker 1>The add on turns three years old, known as the
<v Speaker 1>Try Force here, and Nintendo is teasing new stuff for
<v Speaker 1>members over the next year. In a Nintendo New newsletter,
<v Speaker 1>the company asks what excitement will the next year bring
<v Speaker 1>for Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack members? Stay tuned
<v Speaker 1>to find out? Excuse me, now, you know they can
<v Speaker 1>always They're always teasing stuff. They're always promising more stuff.
<v Speaker 1>That's one of the reasons or one of the ways
<v Speaker 1>they get people to stay subscribed. But I do think
<v Speaker 1>it's interesting the timing of this, saying, Hey, what's the
<v Speaker 1>new year gonna bring? While we know that that online
<v Speaker 1>test for Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack members only
<v Speaker 1>that you had to be a member of that to
<v Speaker 1>sign up for that online test, that mystery test that
<v Speaker 1>we talked about on shows last week. I think that's
<v Speaker 1>happening in a couple of days, so or at least
<v Speaker 1>we're going to get the codes in in about four
<v Speaker 1>days and then it starts on the twenty third, twenty fourth.
<v Speaker 1>Uh Yeah, seems like they're kind of starting to make
<v Speaker 1>a somewhat bigger promises. I don't. For me, Sean, this
<v Speaker 1>gets my hopes up that this is something like maybe
<v Speaker 1>GameCube games.
<v Speaker 2>It could be, it could mean it'slogical, that doesn't mean anything.
<v Speaker 1>That's what I'm just saying. I set myself up for
<v Speaker 1>disappointment more than ever.
<v Speaker 2>Right, and people were what I'm trying to think of
<v Speaker 2>how we got this INFOIO was production line stuff leads
<v Speaker 2>us to things that wireless GameCube controllers for n s
<v Speaker 2>O or.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like WaveBird style. They look like WaveBird contores, That's
<v Speaker 1>what I heard. I haven't seen them. We see have
<v Speaker 1>we seen.
<v Speaker 2>Screenshots that I haven't seen them. I've just heard I've heard.
<v Speaker 1>This as well. Yeah, just to clarify, there was there's
<v Speaker 1>rumors going around that like the NES attachable controller to
<v Speaker 1>the to the switch and the Super Nintendo one or
<v Speaker 1>the family super famic comments.
<v Speaker 2>Well there's more and more importantly, like the n sixty
<v Speaker 2>four one one might like stand alone replica.
<v Speaker 1>And then they did a standalone in sixty four Coroller
<v Speaker 1>and it sounds like they might be doing the same
<v Speaker 1>thing with GameCube. And they haven't done these without the
<v Speaker 1>corresponding games on Nintendo Switch Online. Now there's no law,
<v Speaker 1>that's what they have to do, but I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if the evidence is building. And again, there have been
<v Speaker 1>rumors in the past couple of years that they were
<v Speaker 1>working on GameCube stuff for Nintendo Switch Online. I've always
<v Speaker 1>was like of the opinion of yeah, I mean, they
<v Speaker 1>might be looking into that, but they want to sell
<v Speaker 1>us those games when they remaster them. And I wonder
<v Speaker 1>if there's like a library of games that they're like, well, no,
<v Speaker 1>that just falls below the fold, and we would never
<v Speaker 1>remaster those, but we could still get some value out
<v Speaker 1>of them, and we have a GameCube emulator. Why wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>we do this? Do you think that's the thinking?
<v Speaker 2>Well? I think first you need to put headlines up
<v Speaker 2>to make money. Yeah, I just I just saw it.
<v Speaker 1>There we go, all right.
<v Speaker 2>Second of all this whole thing with Okay, so do
<v Speaker 2>you think this thing that they're talking about in this
<v Speaker 2>newsletter or whatever is what the test is? Do you
<v Speaker 2>think they're one the same?
<v Speaker 1>I you know, with the admitting that I could be
<v Speaker 1>connecting dots where they shouldn't be connected, which is something
<v Speaker 1>my brain does all the time.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, Okay, That's what makes the most sense to me,
<v Speaker 2>the fact that these are happening at the same time
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo is saying that it's only the test is only
<v Speaker 2>for NSL plus expansion packed people, and they you know,
<v Speaker 2>this actually is a public It was like in source
<v Speaker 2>code of the page, are saying you should play it
<v Speaker 2>in TV mode with wired connection. It's just that I
<v Speaker 2>still don't know if that would be GameCube games specifically.
<v Speaker 2>I know people are jumping to the conclusion of while
<v Speaker 2>it could be streaming GameCube games, keep in mind, unless
<v Speaker 2>I'm missing something, Nintendo themselves does not have a streaming infra.
<v Speaker 1>Soy they partnered, like I know, third parties have partnered
<v Speaker 1>with other companies.
<v Speaker 2>That's the thing. Yeah, people always point to, well, there's
<v Speaker 2>these streaming games on Switch, all right, those are those
<v Speaker 2>companies doing their own name company executable.
<v Speaker 1>I'm trying to it doesn't matter, but I'm trying to
<v Speaker 1>remember the name of the company.
<v Speaker 2>Because I don't like their business frame is so I
<v Speaker 2>just don't worry about. But yeah, like the Square Nix
<v Speaker 2>with Kingdom Hearts and then all the other random stuff,
<v Speaker 2>like what control all those games? Yeah, they're streaming through
<v Speaker 2>similar service. It feels weird to me that they would
<v Speaker 2>spin up a streaming service specifically for NSO plus Expansion
<v Speaker 2>Pact members to stream GameCube games. I agree, I mean,
<v Speaker 2>and it's weirder when we consider we've seen the switch
<v Speaker 2>running GameCube games natively multiple times now, not just Super
<v Speaker 2>Mario All Stars, but also the Shield itself over in
<v Speaker 2>China just plays some GameCube games, right, yes, so yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it feels like a lot of effort just for that.
<v Speaker 2>It could be that because, like you know, again, the
<v Speaker 2>evidence is pointing a bunch of different directions. We're trying
<v Speaker 2>to figure it.
<v Speaker 1>Out, but we have biases wherehere it's like, well, maybe
<v Speaker 1>maybe it is this thing. So the confirmation bias comes
<v Speaker 1>into play with it just seems odd to me. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>So you know.
<v Speaker 1>The download file is is multiple gigabytes? Right?
<v Speaker 2>Two? Yeah? Two gigs something? Ah, you were asking about
<v Speaker 2>this a GameCube game, an untrimmed ISO of you know
<v Speaker 2>why I know that I can't mentionine is one point
<v Speaker 2>four gigabytes right right?
<v Speaker 1>Okay? So, and and then a client on top of
<v Speaker 1>that could be several hundred megabytes after that emulator of
<v Speaker 1>some kind, emulator of some kind, maybe some protocols for
<v Speaker 1>additional cloud streaming. So my ideal here and my hope is,
<v Speaker 1>and I think that's possible, is that this is GameCube
<v Speaker 1>games natively running on the switch. And then the reason
<v Speaker 1>that we're having a test is that it also includes
<v Speaker 1>as an option cloud streaming if you want, if you
<v Speaker 1>don't want to download the games, or it.
<v Speaker 2>Can also just be online play because the current yeah,
<v Speaker 2>the current method of doing it through as is a
<v Speaker 2>little client. It's a little simpler. Yeah, well, yeah, it's
<v Speaker 2>a little simpler because of the way it works with
<v Speaker 2>these older games. But if they want to, like you know,
<v Speaker 2>implement maybe even God Forbid role or something, or even
<v Speaker 2>like certain based neck code, and.
<v Speaker 1>That's why we see rule rollback net code was exclusive
<v Speaker 1>to expansion pack members. It doesn't make make sense, doesn't
<v Speaker 1>make sense.
<v Speaker 2>But that would Yeah, we've also seen Sega has done
<v Speaker 2>server based nechode before as well. They did that with
<v Speaker 2>the virtually a Fight or five Ultimate Showdowns, So it
<v Speaker 2>could be something like that. Oh no, there's a million
<v Speaker 2>different things that could be and we're kind of just
<v Speaker 2>grassmas straws trying to figure out what it all is.
<v Speaker 2>When really we'll find out pretty soon here. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 2>just fun speculation.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but I'm kind of it might be with you
<v Speaker 1>on like maybe it's just the multiplayer aspect that they're
<v Speaker 1>trying to test here because it's it's GameCube games and
<v Speaker 1>uh maybe I mean it's not like the packets they're
<v Speaker 1>something would be that much bigger.
<v Speaker 2>But maybe they're like, yeah, just the complexity of like
<v Speaker 2>four players and trying to keep that all in sync
<v Speaker 2>with an emulator running, so like maybe they offload one
<v Speaker 2>or the other. Uh. The thing that like has always
<v Speaker 2>deterred me from GameCube is like you said, they like
<v Speaker 2>to remasters stuff. What would they put right?
<v Speaker 1>What what are those games below the fold? Right? Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>And just to brook up before we move on, like
<v Speaker 1>remember we us Dolphin to do four Swords whatever it
<v Speaker 1>was the Zelda game, and I thought it was long
<v Speaker 1>link cables. There's long lenk cables, is what I meant
<v Speaker 1>to say. Uh, And the like there was always these
<v Speaker 1>warnings on love like you and I talked about like
<v Speaker 1>should we be doing this over parsec? Which how should
<v Speaker 1>we handle this? And we ended up just using Dolphins
<v Speaker 1>net play and there was you know, decink issues and
<v Speaker 1>it's like, yeah, this stuff is kind of mostly baked,
<v Speaker 1>but it's not one hundred percent. So maybe Nintendo is like,
<v Speaker 1>we're doing something similar here, and we've encountered similar issues
<v Speaker 1>and we think we've overcome them, but we want to
<v Speaker 1>run a test to see what it's like in the
<v Speaker 1>real world. So again, confirmation biased like that is almost
<v Speaker 1>certainly meant my brain making connections because I want this
<v Speaker 1>to be true. But we'll see. Yeah, I don't I
<v Speaker 1>don't know what those below the full games would be.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, what is there Sunshine?
<v Speaker 2>I guess because Sunshine's not available right now?
<v Speaker 1>Marius, I mean because Mars Sunshine's in Oh, you're right,
<v Speaker 1>it's not available right now because it's just in the
<v Speaker 1>Mario three Dames before.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, because like Mario sixty four is on the sixty four,
<v Speaker 2>So I just what else do they do they put
<v Speaker 2>Melee in there? Do they put like Louis's Mansion one
<v Speaker 2>in there? That that is where you're encroaching on. We
<v Speaker 2>have newer versions of these games, Like we get that
<v Speaker 2>you like the old ones, but we have newer, arguably
<v Speaker 2>better versions of these games. Uh Paper Mario thousand Year Door,
<v Speaker 2>they just remade that. Yeah, great Waker.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean saw we get and that's that would
<v Speaker 1>be very frustrating because Win Laker HD is just better,
<v Speaker 1>but it's just a more edited game. Yeah, I think
<v Speaker 1>that is that continues to be the biggest hurdle in
<v Speaker 1>my mind where I'm like, I don't understand how they
<v Speaker 1>position this as a product compared to their on the
<v Speaker 1>shelf in the e shot products, and it's you know,
<v Speaker 1>you said Sunshine and was like, well, you're right, that's
<v Speaker 1>not available anymore. And maybe one of the reasons they
<v Speaker 1>did that is they knew they were going to be
<v Speaker 1>in this situation eventually. But then you listened to all
<v Speaker 1>those other ones and it's like, those are games that
<v Speaker 1>you could sell a service on and do you clue
<v Speaker 1>include them and then kind of devalue the new ones.
<v Speaker 1>But maybe they don't view it that way because you know,
<v Speaker 1>they they have other ways to play some N sixty
<v Speaker 1>four games, but they still have the N sixty four
<v Speaker 1>thing with most of those most of those marquee games
<v Speaker 1>in there. I just GAMEQB is so different. It's it's
<v Speaker 1>to them that's still like very modern and something that
<v Speaker 1>they can trade on.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. I guess at the end of the day, who
<v Speaker 2>the hell knows is Nintendo. Nobody does accept Nintendo, and
<v Speaker 2>we'll find out soon.
<v Speaker 1>We will, we'll find well, we will probably find out
<v Speaker 1>in the coming days. And I bet Nintendo announces what
<v Speaker 1>this thing is once the codes go out, because yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it'll just get out there otherwise, right, all right, Uh,
<v Speaker 1>let's take a quick break when we come back. Hitman maker.
<v Speaker 1>Io Interactive has a new partnership and they're going to
<v Speaker 1>be publishing a game from the people that used to
<v Speaker 1>make Grand Theft Auto. We'll talk about that and more
<v Speaker 1>right after this. All right, we're back. Shine listened to
<v Speaker 1>talk radio sometimes when I'm dropping the kids off in
<v Speaker 1>the morning, and they your dad, Yeah, because I'm a dad,
<v Speaker 1>and they always, like all the hosts have this thing
<v Speaker 1>where when they go into the commercial break, they don't
<v Speaker 1>say it, they don't They just kind of continue talking.
<v Speaker 1>And then sometimes the commercials will start, and sometimes there'll
<v Speaker 1>be commercials that they're reading and it's like, I didn't
<v Speaker 1>even realize we're in an ad break all of a sudden,
<v Speaker 1>and I'm like, I don't think I don't have it's
<v Speaker 1>such a smooth transition. I can never do that. I'm
<v Speaker 1>always like, people are gonna skip this part. Not that
<v Speaker 1>I care skip ads. I don't, but I don't think
<v Speaker 1>I could ever be as smooth enough to be like
<v Speaker 1>just kind of talk you into the ad and suddenly
<v Speaker 1>you're there in surprise.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, this says how I can tell you're not in
<v Speaker 2>the FGC because everyone wants to copy Sageam and have
<v Speaker 2>these smoothest, absolute incredible segues in the world. Yes, I
<v Speaker 2>had most ironic because saye Am dropped that a long
<v Speaker 2>time ago because he realized it was kind of corny.
<v Speaker 1>Jan says, don't skip the ads. Okay, don't skip the ads.
<v Speaker 1>Everybody hit Man maker Io Interactive teams with Build a
<v Speaker 1>Rocket Boy to publish minds I. This is from Tom
<v Speaker 1>Ivan ATVGC. Hit Man creator. Io Interactive will publish mind Zi,
<v Speaker 1>the upcoming game from Build a Rocket Boy. The company
<v Speaker 1>announced on Wednesday that it has created a third party
<v Speaker 1>publishing division, IOI Partners. I was going to say, have
<v Speaker 1>they published anyone else's game before? I don't remember them
<v Speaker 1>doing that, and apparently they haven't, which has signed the
<v Speaker 1>new game from the Edinburgh based studio, which is helm
<v Speaker 1>by former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzie's I need
<v Speaker 1>the Benz. From day one, Build a Rocketboy Studios has
<v Speaker 1>been focused on creating the next generation of This is
<v Speaker 1>a quote of compelling gaming and quality entertainment experiences. We
<v Speaker 1>can't wait to share our first triple A premium game
<v Speaker 1>and ever evolving universe minds I with the world, said
<v Speaker 1>studio director Benzi's. There is no finer partner than Io
<v Speaker 1>Interactive to publish our first title. With their strong understanding
<v Speaker 1>of community culture, premium action adventure games, and a best
<v Speaker 1>in class publishing team. We really look forward to partnering
<v Speaker 1>with them on our new blockbuster journey. Mind's Eye is
<v Speaker 1>billed as a quote story driven action adventure thriller set
<v Speaker 1>in a fictional near future Americana and featuring best in
<v Speaker 1>class cinematics, high octane driving, and explosive combat.
<v Speaker 2>Uh you know what, I was gonna be a little
<v Speaker 2>nicer about. But that last line there is what makes
<v Speaker 2>me say, those are just words. Yeah, it's just mean.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I think they're trying to say fans of
<v Speaker 1>the genre rejoice or whatever the cliche is. Hey, this
<v Speaker 1>is gonna be kind of grand theft auto online, y.
<v Speaker 1>I think it's what they're trying to get across that's
<v Speaker 1>you know, it's easy to say that, apparently, Actually it's
<v Speaker 1>apparently it's not easy to say that based on this sentence,
<v Speaker 1>but it's easy to try to imply that that's what
<v Speaker 1>you're going for. Accomplishing that, Convinsing people that that that
<v Speaker 1>that's the equivalent experience they're getting gonna be very hard whatever.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>Partnering with io Interactive Interactive, Hey, that's cool. Yeah, Io
<v Speaker 1>Interacted right and right. And you've got to imagine there
<v Speaker 1>was a lot of competition to get the new game
<v Speaker 1>from Leslie Benzi's in terms of being a publishing partner.
<v Speaker 1>So I wonder how it came to be Io Interactive.
<v Speaker 1>Not that I doubt Io. They did publish Hitman three themselves,
<v Speaker 1>I think.
<v Speaker 2>Right, that's what I Yeah, That's what made me turn
<v Speaker 2>my head a little bit at this headline is in't
<v Speaker 2>realized Io was big enough to start publishing other people's games.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, so they just started IOI publishing. That's happening now.
<v Speaker 1>I think they are trying to grow to be that big.
<v Speaker 1>Now they have multiple studios across Europe. I believe, like
<v Speaker 1>I want at least two, but I want to stay
<v Speaker 1>in my mind that they've got grown up to like
<v Speaker 1>three or four, and they opened one up in the
<v Speaker 1>last few years. So and that, like you know, they
<v Speaker 1>have multiple projects they have They were updating Hitman beyond
<v Speaker 1>when they said they would stop updating the Hitman because
<v Speaker 1>they did so well the third one and when it
<v Speaker 1>turned into Hitman a World of Assassination, like, they're kind
<v Speaker 1>of setting that up for the future to be this
<v Speaker 1>perennial title, perennial seller, not necessarily perenally perennially updated, but
<v Speaker 1>still something that's always going to be there in the
<v Speaker 1>top one hundred on Steam for the most part. And
<v Speaker 1>then they are making the James Bond game. They're making
<v Speaker 1>that Double seven game, which is their next big game.
<v Speaker 1>But in the meantime this for years, they've been making
<v Speaker 1>that pro was they're the ones that were doing that
<v Speaker 1>project Dragon, that was going to be that fantasy game
<v Speaker 1>that's kind of an action RPG, I think, And they
<v Speaker 1>were working with Microsoft a little bit. I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if they're still working with Microsoft, but that's something they're
<v Speaker 1>making as well. So they got several big projects that
<v Speaker 1>they're working on. And then in the meantime they did
<v Speaker 1>build a publishing team internally to help them publish Hitman three,
<v Speaker 1>and now they have all those skills and be like, ye.
<v Speaker 2>Skills are transferable, Like they're thinking, well, we pull this
<v Speaker 2>effort in, we might as well, you know, put to
<v Speaker 2>good use, kind of like with Capcom thinking, hey, we
<v Speaker 2>made Ari Engine and what really like it? May let's
<v Speaker 2>look into licensing that out. That kind of situation.
<v Speaker 1>Yep. As for the game itself, it just like got
<v Speaker 1>such a risk, right, It's like so hard to like
<v Speaker 1>build a game and just it's like declare it's going
<v Speaker 1>to be something like Grand Theft Auto Online and to
<v Speaker 1>pull that off.
<v Speaker 2>Nothing is right.
<v Speaker 1>Nothing is And not even Red Dead Redemption Online was,
<v Speaker 1>And this is it's kind of thing where it's going
<v Speaker 1>to take longer than they ever thought it was gonna take.
<v Speaker 1>It's gonna be more complicated than they ever thought it
<v Speaker 1>would be trying to find here. In January, build a
<v Speaker 1>Rocker Boy said it had secured a one hundred and
<v Speaker 1>ten million dollar round of funding UH which would enable
<v Speaker 1>it to launch its three flagship products, immersive gaming and entertainment,
<v Speaker 1>open world platform Everywhere, Triple A game series, Mind's Eye,
<v Speaker 1>and a suite of easy to use UGC user generated
<v Speaker 1>content design tools called Arcadia.
<v Speaker 2>So triple a game series Mind's Eye, Mind's Eye, right,
<v Speaker 2>and then to play game series series, yes, series, so
<v Speaker 2>they're already right exactly, this is going to be a trilogy.
<v Speaker 1>Which I remember the time when they like every game
<v Speaker 1>announcement was going to be a trilogy and then uh,
<v Speaker 1>but you know that's still there's still the immersive what
<v Speaker 1>if they call it immersive gaming and entertainment, open world
<v Speaker 1>platform everywhere. They still have Everywhere, which I kind of
<v Speaker 1>want to see if I can find that true. Wasn't
<v Speaker 1>there a trailer for Everywhere? I'm not going to find
<v Speaker 1>it right now, but because I don't think it really
<v Speaker 1>showed all that much or illustrated a lot of what
<v Speaker 1>that was going to be. But they have several things
<v Speaker 1>happening as well, and I you know, okay, immersive platform
<v Speaker 1>gaming platform everywhere versus the online, explosive action, open world
<v Speaker 1>game of Mind's Eye. What's the difference there? Like, what
<v Speaker 1>do you what do you expect? Like how which kind
<v Speaker 1>of players one game is supposed to attract versus the other?
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, it seems like a lot, but this
<v Speaker 1>is a company and you know, Leslie Benzy specifically that
<v Speaker 1>definitely could go out there and get one hundred and
<v Speaker 1>ten million dollars in funding in one round, and that's
<v Speaker 1>just one round. They'll probably have another funding round eventually
<v Speaker 1>where they get even more money. So they're gonna have
<v Speaker 1>at a point where they've spent five hundred million dollars
<v Speaker 1>on these projects or something like that, you know, multiple
<v Speaker 1>projects and other future things. This user generated content platform,
<v Speaker 1>it's a lot. It doesn't necessarily feel like, well, that's
<v Speaker 1>the future of gaming to me. What do you think?
<v Speaker 2>No? Yeah, Nicki and Lexi both shared like reveal trailers
<v Speaker 2>for everywhere in the chat, and Nicki's right, boy, that
<v Speaker 2>sure do look like they're trying to do the roadblocks,
<v Speaker 2>doesn't it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think everyone was trying to do roadblocks at
<v Speaker 1>the time that this was getting off the ground. It
<v Speaker 1>was like everyone was we need to have our roadblocks.
<v Speaker 1>The future is you don't make the game the children do.
<v Speaker 2>Right, What was is, Yeah, Concorde is that the most
<v Speaker 2>recent example we were thinking of of people had this
<v Speaker 2>idea many years ago. It takes many years to build something.
<v Speaker 2>That's why the idea is out of date. Yes, we
<v Speaker 2>had another one of those recently too, but yes, the
<v Speaker 2>most recent one.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Also, I forgot that I was searching for Nintendo on
<v Speaker 2>Twitter earlier to find some of this stuff, and Nintendo
<v Speaker 2>of America a tweet yesterday of a gift of Wa
<v Speaker 2>Luigi and the Texas absolutely serving.
<v Speaker 1>Well, you know, he got to start in tennis, so
<v Speaker 1>serving the ball.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you know, you know I checked for his out.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, is this Nintendo UK, because then.
<v Speaker 1>Then they can get away from saying it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I think that every person making games right now,
<v Speaker 1>especially the ones that can command a lot of money,
<v Speaker 1>are gonna be in this weird position of what what like,
<v Speaker 1>how do we spend all this money and make something
<v Speaker 1>that makes sense?
<v Speaker 2>And I look at stuff like that sure game development
<v Speaker 2>looked like and everyone's trying to figure that out.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I look at this stuff and I'm like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>I'm glad I'm not in her position. I'm glad I
<v Speaker 1>don't have to figure this out.
<v Speaker 2>This sucks.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, I don't know if the game is gonna suck,
<v Speaker 1>but the having to try to, like again, proclaim two
<v Speaker 1>gamers that you're gonna care about this to the tune
<v Speaker 1>of several hundred million dollars that we're gonna spend on it.
<v Speaker 1>That's a rough position to be in, and I do
<v Speaker 1>not envy them, but hey, I don't know. It feels
<v Speaker 1>like rubber meeting road, feels like reality coming to Fruition.
<v Speaker 1>But by saying we're partnering with a real company, a
<v Speaker 1>real team that has published games, a technically independent published
<v Speaker 1>studio that has taken the reins of their own game
<v Speaker 1>and sort of found a way to make it make sense.
<v Speaker 1>And they even have a history of treating their single
<v Speaker 1>player game as a live service game with Hitman twenty
<v Speaker 1>sixteen and one. And it's like, so they just have
<v Speaker 1>a lot of knowledge over there. Maybe they can take
<v Speaker 1>all of what we're working with, give us some feedback,
<v Speaker 1>help us get in these games into stores, retailers, into
<v Speaker 1>retail stories, things like that, and then at that point
<v Speaker 1>we will do our best to make this game make
<v Speaker 1>sense for people who actually are going to show up
<v Speaker 1>to play it.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the more I look at this everywhere game, there's uh,
<v Speaker 1>there's ski ball. Yeah, it looks like it looks.
<v Speaker 2>More at soup kind of matches the word soup. We
<v Speaker 2>heard a little bit. It was kind of ham feeling, right, Hey,
<v Speaker 2>best of luck to you, and and.
<v Speaker 1>You're doing this in a world where like you know,
<v Speaker 1>Unreal Engine in Fortnite or whatever it's called.
<v Speaker 2>Uphaes Fortnite Builder or whatever. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean that's there's a lot of community created stuff
<v Speaker 1>in there, and none of that has, uh like, as
<v Speaker 1>far as I could tell, taken over the world where
<v Speaker 1>like some of those egg games, those egg Grace and
<v Speaker 1>games and Roadblocks has where like they have their own
<v Speaker 1>toy line at Walmart. I see every once in a while.
<v Speaker 2>That's why everyone's going after as the Roadblocks, because someone
<v Speaker 2>makes a game in Roadblocks and like all the kids
<v Speaker 2>like share it with their friends, it becomes viral with
<v Speaker 2>them market. I think we talked not too long about
<v Speaker 2>long ago about how like how do you get the
<v Speaker 2>younger generation playing new games when they have evergreen games
<v Speaker 2>in Fortnite, Minecraft, Roadblocks, Well, you figure out ways to
<v Speaker 2>get your product out there in those games or through
<v Speaker 2>methods like this game, like those games. I think that's
<v Speaker 2>what we're seeing here with this yep.
<v Speaker 1>I think, so all right, let's keep moving. Dragon Ball
<v Speaker 1>Sparking zero sells three million units in its first twenty
<v Speaker 1>four hours from alex Co at dual Shockers. That's pretty
<v Speaker 1>much the Headline's pretty much the story. But boy, that's
<v Speaker 1>a smash smash hit that is incredible numbers in twenty
<v Speaker 1>four hours. Now. We knew it was going to do
<v Speaker 1>this because we saw the like one hundred thousand Concurrent
<v Speaker 1>players when it was one hundred dollars for early access
<v Speaker 1>on Steam. That's bananas. There was a you know, last
<v Speaker 1>game I kind of remember doing that was like Sports
<v Speaker 1>and Motorsport five, like Surprised. It's like, there's already is
<v Speaker 1>there already a million people playing this game and it's
<v Speaker 1>like not even fully out yet, and it's yeah.
<v Speaker 2>It's same thing the early access version, Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, and it's that game went on to sell like
<v Speaker 1>five million units very fast, and it's like, this is
<v Speaker 1>going to do better than that. It seems like it
<v Speaker 1>is racing to ten million. It's just it's gigantic.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I told you all the fans I wanted this one,
<v Speaker 2>and you give the fans what they want.
<v Speaker 1>They show up and the game is very much we
<v Speaker 1>talked about this. A bunch of the game is very
<v Speaker 1>much what those people want, and it turns out there
<v Speaker 1>are those a lot of those people. All those yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I'm I'm yeah. You know, chances I think people are
<v Speaker 1>ready for for Dragon Ball Fever to come back again.
<v Speaker 1>And I feel that I'm like, you know where I
<v Speaker 1>was watching that kind of when I was high school
<v Speaker 1>when Tsunami hit. Uh, I kind of like missed a
<v Speaker 1>little bit of ratitude.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, if you were in high school and wo man and.
<v Speaker 1>You really hit the d there and the damn really
<v Speaker 1>just really just yeah, I'm old. Uh it is uh.
<v Speaker 1>I'm I'm nostalgic for it in a way where it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I want to watch more dramona. I've been. I've watched
<v Speaker 1>a little bit of Kai a few weeks back. I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna I'm gonna keep watching Kai. And it's like, if
<v Speaker 1>I'm in the mood for iteople who are younger than me,
<v Speaker 1>must really be just a feending for it. And the
<v Speaker 1>evidence is right before our eyes now, so I'm not surprising.
<v Speaker 2>I guess when you really think about it, our generation
<v Speaker 2>we're at like two different ends of like the millennial
<v Speaker 2>generation obviously, but you know, people who grew up either
<v Speaker 2>grew up as kids or were teenagers when dray Ball
<v Speaker 2>Z specifically came out. Both audiences could love that stuff,
<v Speaker 2>and so that's why we're all nostalgic for it. You know,
<v Speaker 2>twenty years on now in twenty plus years sound now
<v Speaker 2>she's like twenty five. Uh, And so that's a pretty
<v Speaker 2>big audience who is nostalgic for this thing. And when
<v Speaker 2>they see it, like they remember as kids, they want
<v Speaker 2>to just fork out the cash to play the game
<v Speaker 2>like they did when they were kids with their friends.
<v Speaker 2>And like we said when we did that stream, I
<v Speaker 2>know a lot of people aren't gonna like it. They're
<v Speaker 2>gonna look at and they say, oh, another arena fighter slop.
<v Speaker 2>Don't want this, don't want anything to do with it.
<v Speaker 2>But I think there's gonna be a lot of people,
<v Speaker 2>and the numbers are showing here that just want to
<v Speaker 2>crack some beer with their buddies, get our one together
<v Speaker 2>on Saturday, party game play as a party game, play
<v Speaker 2>some Dragon Ball, you know, maybe go out after that,
<v Speaker 2>or even just spend the night in and then like
<v Speaker 2>toss on match or something afterwards. Yeah, have a fun night.
<v Speaker 2>And I think that's what this game is gonna be
<v Speaker 2>really good at.
<v Speaker 1>Yep.
<v Speaker 2>The Jeff, the content in this game, I don't know
<v Speaker 2>if you saw Max did a rate the super that
<v Speaker 2>was an hour and ten minutes long, because that's how
<v Speaker 2>many Supers are in this game.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and I saw some people doing random character select matches,
<v Speaker 1>and that's that's a fun idea because you can get
<v Speaker 1>some wild teams when you're doing.
<v Speaker 2>That, because we're not super familiar with these games the
<v Speaker 2>way you found out, Oh it's a ratio system that
<v Speaker 2>leads to some wild stuff. Okay, that's that's really interesting.
<v Speaker 2>That's cool.
<v Speaker 1>A recommendation for people who are dragon Ball fans that like,
<v Speaker 1>you can go back, reread Dragonball manga, watch the shows again.
<v Speaker 1>But if you want like something that definitely touches on
<v Speaker 1>a lot of the same themes and has basically super
<v Speaker 1>Sands but with mustaches instead of spiky hair, read Invincible
<v Speaker 1>and watch the show too, but read Invincible. That was
<v Speaker 1>I was reading that, like this is just dragon Ball
<v Speaker 1>with a bit more blood and and and you know, okay,
<v Speaker 1>quite a bit more. But like, I don't want to
<v Speaker 1>like oversaw the gooriness because you get used to it
<v Speaker 1>very fast when you're reading it. It's not it's like
<v Speaker 1>it's that first impression we're like, oh my god, they're
<v Speaker 1>just going over the top. But when you're in the
<v Speaker 1>context again. That stuff all works and makes sense. Uh,
<v Speaker 1>it's Dragon Ball mis reports. Yeah, sure, all right, Resident
<v Speaker 1>Evil for remake sales top eight million, very good. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Capcom is just gonna keep doing this, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, game messes Game of the Year last year.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, game messes Game of the Year.
<v Speaker 2>I uh.
<v Speaker 1>Come, I played that thing almost entirely on a Steam
<v Speaker 1>deck on a plane. Uh, and enjoyed that.
<v Speaker 2>It's a fantastic Yeah. Yeah, all the sense in the world.
<v Speaker 2>I like that They list all the platforms here, followed
<v Speaker 2>by mac, iPhone, fifteen P and iPad. Yeah, I sure did,
<v Speaker 2>didn't it.
<v Speaker 1>Yep? There is I'm sure more Resident Evil news coming
<v Speaker 1>soon about that time, right, yep. Rumors that Rezzievil nine
<v Speaker 1>was going to get some sort of teaser over the summer,
<v Speaker 1>and they pushed it back for whatever reason. I bet
<v Speaker 1>we get to the Game Awards and maybe it happens there,
<v Speaker 1>if not there quickly after at one of these events
<v Speaker 1>from one of these companies in January of February.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and in hindsight, it makes a little more sense
<v Speaker 2>to do it at a l Western event rather than
<v Speaker 2>something like TGS, because horror is more of a thing
<v Speaker 2>over here, right, they saw lobally popular of some RI
<v Speaker 2>games and everything, So yeah, maybe it makes a little
<v Speaker 2>more sense too. Yeah, you know, not at the state
<v Speaker 2>of play like I was singing either, So maybe it
<v Speaker 2>was just the game Wars, because it's certainly big enough
<v Speaker 2>to be there.
<v Speaker 1>So am I not? All right? Let's hit a few
<v Speaker 1>more stories here. Electric Electric Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium smashes
<v Speaker 1>kickstarter goal on day one. This is from Rachel Kaser
<v Speaker 1>at Gamesbeed the Kazer Laser.
<v Speaker 2>Rachel.
<v Speaker 1>EGM Media announced today that it is launching a new
<v Speaker 1>Kickstarter for a product called the Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium.
<v Speaker 1>As the name implies, it's a compilation of stories from
<v Speaker 1>the magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly EGM, gathered into a book
<v Speaker 1>that spans the publication's twenty five year history. The kickstarter
<v Speaker 1>launched today and within a few hours surpassed its primary
<v Speaker 1>goal of sixty thousand dollars with over eight hundred backers.
<v Speaker 1>At the time of this writing, I think it's over
<v Speaker 1>one hundred thousand now, I believe at this point. The
<v Speaker 1>Compendium is a physical book that contains interviews, historical background,
<v Speaker 1>and features from EGM's many many years in print. It
<v Speaker 1>also features stories about the magazine itself. In addition to
<v Speaker 1>the book, the kickstarter also funds the EGM Digital Archive,
<v Speaker 1>which will, according to its creator, ideally contain fully readable
<v Speaker 1>versions of EVERYGM ever printed. It'll be simpatico with the compendium,
<v Speaker 1>with the latter containing codes that link to articles article
<v Speaker 1>topics within the archives. That's great.
<v Speaker 2>Well that's a big promise.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's that's really cool.
<v Speaker 2>That'd be sick by the way, one and thirty nine
<v Speaker 2>thousand right.
<v Speaker 1>Now, fantastic. I backed it immediately. This is, you know,
<v Speaker 1>one of the It's probably the magazine for me. The
<v Speaker 1>reason I'm here all that stuff. I mean, really, when
<v Speaker 1>you link back to me and working with Shoe and
<v Speaker 1>that being my way into the industry, e GM is
<v Speaker 1>the reason that I have a job at all in
<v Speaker 1>this industry.
<v Speaker 2>Of all the platform agnostic magazines that I write, because
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo Power was my big one, e GM was the
<v Speaker 2>big one that I right I still have the one
<v Speaker 2>of the things I got me into fighting games was
<v Speaker 2>I believe I think it was the EGM. I'd have
<v Speaker 2>dig out, but I remember the cover at least of
<v Speaker 2>Street Fighter four and they had the Uh they had
<v Speaker 2>that big preview of street Fighter four in that magazine.
<v Speaker 1>And uh, street Fighter four got you in the fighting games.
<v Speaker 2>It's just like it's like competitively. I mean like I've
<v Speaker 2>been playing. I've been playing since I played a Super
<v Speaker 2>Turbo came and.
<v Speaker 1>That was because I thought that's where we're headed. It's like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, every month they would have street Fighter two
<v Speaker 1>on the cover, and I thought you were gonna say that.
<v Speaker 1>So it just threw me for a loop for a
<v Speaker 1>second when you said street Fighter four.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, when I was in like middle school and
<v Speaker 2>like street Fight or four was starting to get previewed up. Yeah, Oh,
<v Speaker 2>I should like really get into this. I play like
<v Speaker 2>Smash with my friends. I'm still playing, you know, like
<v Speaker 2>the What Pizza Huts still had the NBC two machine.
<v Speaker 2>I'd played all throughout my childhood, and I'm like, I
<v Speaker 2>should this game looks incredible and so I'll never forget
<v Speaker 2>that cover. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I am hopeful that this will be like it will
<v Speaker 1>capture the feeling of EGM, which was very much a
<v Speaker 1>you know, I'll say it was a kind of a
<v Speaker 1>frat house of a bunch of more intellectual dudes that
<v Speaker 1>you know, not as intellectual as like Next Gen Magazine
<v Speaker 1>or anything like that, but that was a good thing.
<v Speaker 1>So they all had really good sense of humor, and
<v Speaker 1>that really permeated everything in the magazine. It was just
<v Speaker 1>you could feel that there was a camaraderie and people
<v Speaker 1>who enjoyed talking about video games with one another and
<v Speaker 1>having competitions. I always loved reading about them, like gambling
<v Speaker 1>on a triple flip or whatever it was, Flipnik the
<v Speaker 1>pong game where they're like, we played double or nothing
<v Speaker 1>for so long, and I think Shoe kept winning and
<v Speaker 1>Shane ended up owning owing him like several thousand dollars
<v Speaker 1>or something like that, like tens of thousands of dollars
<v Speaker 1>because they kept doing double or nothing. And I'm like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>that's that's fantastic. And then, uh yeah, I want them
<v Speaker 1>to capture all of that. And it sounds like they're
<v Speaker 1>working with a list of people who are alumni of
<v Speaker 1>the magazine and they are going to have interviews with
<v Speaker 1>them and stories. So I hope we get all that
<v Speaker 1>stuff and we hear about things like decapp Potato, which
<v Speaker 1>is the game they played with like a frisbee and
<v Speaker 1>you try to knock the person's head off. Cool. I
<v Speaker 1>really am hopeful for this and it looks cool and
<v Speaker 1>uh yeah, very neat that it already got backed, not surprising. Again,
<v Speaker 1>there's a lot of love for eg amount there.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'll probably pick this up bright so Actually.
<v Speaker 1>Side note, I bought this tablet right here a few
<v Speaker 1>a few weeks, like two weeks ago, specifically so I
<v Speaker 1>could go to Internet archive and read old video game magazines.
<v Speaker 1>And I was enjoying it. And like literally two days later,
<v Speaker 1>some idiots who I think are just trying to are
<v Speaker 1>lying about their motivations hacked the website and it's been
<v Speaker 1>down ever since the Internet Internet Archive. Maybe it's back
<v Speaker 1>up today. I haven't checked. It's so frustrating. They just
<v Speaker 1>don't want me reading my ultra gameplayer magazines. Those dicks.
<v Speaker 2>He's got a good question. What tablet.
<v Speaker 1>It's the Pixel, the Pixel tablet, because the Pixel tableot. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I was close to maybe doing an iPad. I considered
<v Speaker 1>the old Samsung too expensive.
<v Speaker 2>Oh dude, I went out of my way to get
<v Speaker 2>a new in boxed Samsung Galaxy tab S two from
<v Speaker 2>like twenty eighteen or something like that, because it's just
<v Speaker 2>an iPad mini that runs Android and has an Olin screen.
<v Speaker 2>It's great for reading.
<v Speaker 1>Right, That's that's stuffely something I looked at. I I
<v Speaker 1>previously had a tab A six or something like that,
<v Speaker 1>like yeah, one of the one of the like the
<v Speaker 1>tier down but it was like.
<v Speaker 2>Like fire tablet shafe but like beefier, like this.
<v Speaker 1>One was really sleekly here I got it. I got.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah. They're like, uh, like, oh, you got one
<v Speaker 2>of the bigger ones.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, one of the bigger ones. And it comes to
<v Speaker 1>the team of the pen and everything. My kids dropped it.
<v Speaker 1>So the screen crack w is why I got a
<v Speaker 1>new tablet, And it was uh but I like, I
<v Speaker 1>liked it. It ran really well, and so I was like,
<v Speaker 1>maybe ill doing like Samsung do that olet screen, but yeah,
<v Speaker 1>too expensive. I did get the base for the Pixel tablet,
<v Speaker 1>and so that's what that's actually the reason I got it,
<v Speaker 1>because it's like that can still work as a Google
<v Speaker 1>Home device. I can do my reminders on there. Cool
<v Speaker 1>and then yes, and that has a base stand, so
<v Speaker 1>I'll keep it charged all the time. I love that.
<v Speaker 1>And then I'll just pick it up and use it
<v Speaker 1>to read some stuff here or there, maybe watch a show.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe watch a game on there on YouTube TV. So yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it's been nice, all right, Uh, sir, counter report says
<v Speaker 1>seventy the US. I'm gonna assume this means the people
<v Speaker 1>in the US engage with video games, not the land mass.
<v Speaker 1>From Sophie McAvoy at Games Industry Dobiz, Seventy one percent
<v Speaker 1>of US consumers play video games, according to Sircana's twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty four Gamer Segmentation Report as online in online survey
<v Speaker 1>of fifty one hundred respondents was conducted between May and
<v Speaker 1>June twenty twenty four, which found there are currently two
<v Speaker 1>hundred thirty six point four million gamers in the United States.
<v Speaker 1>The largest share of gamers was adults aged forty five
<v Speaker 1>and older at thirty seven percent. That's wild, which Sircanas
<v Speaker 1>said was driven by women gamers and a growing interest
<v Speaker 1>in consoles. The report found engagement among children under twelve
<v Speaker 1>had declined by six percent since twenty twenty two, but
<v Speaker 1>remained the most important demographic in terms of consumer spending.
<v Speaker 1>Players spend an average of fifty six dollars twenty cents
<v Speaker 1>on video game purchases in the past six months, while
<v Speaker 1>forty six percent of those surveys said they spend spent
<v Speaker 1>nothing on products. We've got to keep my massive, massive
<v Speaker 1>free to play audience on, especially mobile, but even consoles,
<v Speaker 1>even PC. So you know, we can only parse so
<v Speaker 1>much of this data, right, Like, we can only find
<v Speaker 1>so much meaning without like being able to like really
<v Speaker 1>getting the numbers and look at ourselves. But my first
<v Speaker 1>impression here, Sean is growing interest of consoles among people
<v Speaker 1>older than forty five, specifically women. I'm not too surprised
<v Speaker 1>by that. I think that there are a lot of
<v Speaker 1>women are like going out is a pain in the ass,
<v Speaker 1>and there's a lot of cool stuff that maybe I ignored.
<v Speaker 1>These RPGs are incredible stories. I think games like Persona
<v Speaker 1>feel like they are capturing huge audiences of women that
<v Speaker 1>previously we're not caring about video games too much. I'm generalizing,
<v Speaker 1>but I think that's true. And then meanwhile, there is
<v Speaker 1>this younger audience. What was the kids younger than twelve?
<v Speaker 1>They said, no mention of consoles growing and pop larity
<v Speaker 1>with that audience, which kind of why would it?
<v Speaker 2>Exactly, Yeah, someone to chat instantly jokes around like, well
<v Speaker 2>how much that is mobile? It doesn't matter. Frankly, games
<v Speaker 2>are games nowadays, Like you see Fortnitary platform, Minecraft onary platform,
<v Speaker 2>they all play together.
<v Speaker 1>Yep.
<v Speaker 2>War Zone is on mobile now like.
<v Speaker 1>And it matters to the people selling hardware, but it
<v Speaker 1>doesn't like to the kids. They don't They are not
<v Speaker 1>seeing those differences. To them. It's like, no, the game
<v Speaker 1>is Minecraft, and Minecraft is wherever I'm at because it's
<v Speaker 1>on everything, and.
<v Speaker 2>Is it Phil Spencer who pointed out that kids the
<v Speaker 2>reason that things going multiplatform and everything on both Xbox
<v Speaker 2>and PlayStation's side is because the younger generation don't see
<v Speaker 2>these barriers because they're like, well, I watched Netflix on everything,
<v Speaker 2>I watch YouTube on everything, Twitches, everyone, messaging apps. Yes,
<v Speaker 2>these games the.
<v Speaker 1>Biggest games they play are everywhere, so yeah, so.
<v Speaker 2>Why would you lock yourselves down? And that's yeah, that's
<v Speaker 2>what we're seeing with the most successful games. They are
<v Speaker 2>the ones that are everywhere. And that's why was big
<v Speaker 2>with the younger audience, right And.
<v Speaker 1>When we were younger, it's like we were trained the
<v Speaker 1>exact opposite, where it's like, if you want a certain
<v Speaker 1>you if you want a certain game, you got to
<v Speaker 1>go to a certain platform. That's just the way it is.
<v Speaker 1>And those were the biggest games were especially like that.
<v Speaker 1>Now the biggest games are called Duty. You can get
<v Speaker 1>that everywhere. Minecrack you can get it everywhere. Roadblocks you
<v Speaker 1>can get it everywhere. Now you know, it wasn't necessarily
<v Speaker 1>on PlayStation, but kind of not be on console wasn't
<v Speaker 1>that big of a hang up for Roadblocks. It was
<v Speaker 1>on PC, it was on mobile, and that was everywhere
<v Speaker 1>for most young kids because they were going to have
<v Speaker 1>one of those in front of them. But now it
<v Speaker 1>is on every console as well. I don't know, maybe
<v Speaker 1>it's not on switch, but whatever, So they've been trained
<v Speaker 1>the exact opposite, so undoing that, I think Phil Spencer's
<v Speaker 1>already accepted that's not an option, and Nintendo's like, well,
<v Speaker 1>it is an option for us because we're special, and say, okay,
<v Speaker 1>but the exception that maybe proves the rule.
<v Speaker 2>I think I think so at this point. Yeah, And
<v Speaker 2>that's why both pieces of hardware are important still, Like
<v Speaker 2>you said, an old generation who is more familiar with
<v Speaker 2>consoles prefers that input method and or everything. How both
<v Speaker 2>of us certainly do. Those piece of hardware are still
<v Speaker 2>going to sell and that's cool, and then you know
<v Speaker 2>the kids can have their mobile devices that they've grown
<v Speaker 2>up with. They like just you know, touch interfaces, maybe
<v Speaker 2>they slap like a backbone on a phone or something
<v Speaker 2>like that. That's how they like to interact with the games.
<v Speaker 2>Like kind of works for everyone. So as long as
<v Speaker 2>the software is still being made and is good. It's
<v Speaker 2>kind of the problem with the game industry right now
<v Speaker 2>is production. But as long as that can happen and
<v Speaker 2>the games are available to the people who want them, well,
<v Speaker 2>that's always good. And I think that's why we're seeing
<v Speaker 2>a increase in percentage of just human beings who are
<v Speaker 2>interacting with games as they're becoming more accessible. And it's
<v Speaker 2>a good time to be a video game player. You know,
<v Speaker 2>the industry has been extremely shaky, but there's so many
<v Speaker 2>options in so many places to play games that it's
<v Speaker 2>good to get into them right now if you aren't already.
<v Speaker 1>Yep. Yeah, And just a final point here, it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I uh, nothing's going to go away. The only issue
<v Speaker 1>and we've seen this issue. We've talked about it because
<v Speaker 1>it's it kind of is affecting every new story pretty much.
<v Speaker 1>That we bring up is the growth that they've used
<v Speaker 1>to justify investing a lot of money in every video
<v Speaker 1>game for the last several years, that's come under question,
<v Speaker 1>like is the growth for the games that we make
<v Speaker 1>for consoles going to be there in the future to
<v Speaker 1>help justify spending these hundreds of millions of dollars And
<v Speaker 1>I think they're going to be, like, maybe not. So
<v Speaker 1>we got to think a little bit differently. So the
<v Speaker 1>games we got used to being on the you know,
<v Speaker 1>the most expensive side of the spectrum, those might be
<v Speaker 1>changing and shifting in some ways in ways that we
<v Speaker 1>can't fully grasp. Picks. They don't they don't have the answer.
<v Speaker 1>We talk about that all the time. But overall, like gamings,
<v Speaker 1>you know, console game is not gonna go away. PC
<v Speaker 1>game is not gonna go awigh, mobile game is not
<v Speaker 1>gonna go away. It's all just gonna have have to
<v Speaker 1>like shift slightly to capture this money that we all
<v Speaker 1>want to spend on games, and they just haven't really
<v Speaker 1>been able to figure out how they're gonna do that
<v Speaker 1>while also getting the growth that they so desperately need
<v Speaker 1>to keep their shareholders happy. Last couple of stories, real
<v Speaker 1>quick clear Obscure Expedition thirty three that you know what,
<v Speaker 1>I got the video right here. I think that kind
<v Speaker 1>of JRPG looking game, but I think it's from a
<v Speaker 1>studio in Europe.
<v Speaker 2>The WRPG.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, the WRPG with Ben Starr doing one of the
<v Speaker 1>actors will doing with the voices. That's coming out in
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty five. It's in Spring twenty twenty five. It'll
<v Speaker 1>be on Steam in the Epic Game Store, as well
<v Speaker 1>as Xbox and PlayStation five. They also announced the rest
<v Speaker 1>of the cast. Charlie Cox, the Daredevil from Netflix's Daredevil,
<v Speaker 1>is going to be playing Gustave. You know he's He's
<v Speaker 1>listed here first. I don't know if that doesn't look
<v Speaker 1>like that's alphabetical, and it's not the big he's not
<v Speaker 1>even the biggestar because there's also Andy serkis, So maybe
<v Speaker 1>Charlie Cox is the lead character. But Ben Starr's like
<v Speaker 1>kind of listed last here, which applies. Maybe he's also
<v Speaker 1>the most important, depending on how they want do these things.
<v Speaker 1>But Ben Star, Andy Serkis, Charlie Cox, I don't know
<v Speaker 1>these other names, oh, Jennifer English from Balder Skate three
<v Speaker 1>and elder Ring, Kirsty Ryder from The Sandman and Seafu,
<v Speaker 1>and Sheila knight Nix from the Old Guard, Cyberpunk twenty
<v Speaker 1>seventy seven Phantom Liberty.
<v Speaker 2>Of Talent. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely. They got some supporting cast here as well, from
<v Speaker 1>shows like Good Omens More Balder Skate three Actors, Ineffable.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not sure what that is, but yeah, I think
<v Speaker 1>this looks awesome. I think it looks awesome. So I'm
<v Speaker 1>I'm excited to see what fans of the genre and
<v Speaker 1>whether they rejoice or not. But yeah, I know, looks
<v Speaker 1>really good. Yeah you I was gonna ask, do you
<v Speaker 1>think this looks promising?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? I mean just the fact that it is, you know,
<v Speaker 2>more photo realistic graphics is always a bit of a
<v Speaker 2>turn off for me. I just do prefer things that
<v Speaker 2>are more cell shaded and anime looking or more cartoony,
<v Speaker 2>something just a little more vibrant. But that being said,
<v Speaker 2>for being a realistic looking game, it's looking real good
<v Speaker 2>because they're going like really high concept with some of this,
<v Speaker 2>some of these fantastical elements, you know, uh, I'm trying
<v Speaker 2>to think of something more creative compared to those are
<v Speaker 2>like how elden Ring has those moments where you just
<v Speaker 2>like walk out see a vista and like, damn, that
<v Speaker 2>was crazy. I'm looking at the Steam page right now,
<v Speaker 2>and yeah, some of these backgrounds that they have and
<v Speaker 2>these shots look fantastic yep. So yeah, and trailer that
<v Speaker 2>we saw in whatever Xbox event, yes, pretty solid.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and I think the you know, combat, I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, they're they're standing there and they're doing their stuff.
<v Speaker 1>But it also looks very action packed in terms of
<v Speaker 1>the animations, and I don't know, it just looks very promising.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>Then finally Black Ops six had a PC trailer, spex
<v Speaker 1>and stuff like that. I got the specs right here
<v Speaker 1>as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. The specs are, hey, this will run on literally
<v Speaker 2>anything because anas run out PS four exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, and that's uh yeah, that's good news. The minimum
<v Speaker 1>specs yeah, an AMD rise in five fourteen hundred. And
<v Speaker 1>then for the video card and AMD Radion RX four seventy.
<v Speaker 2>Let's go, that's like twenty people contacts context. The end
<v Speaker 2>video card is a GTX nine to sixty.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, we're talking like twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen. That's buck wild.
<v Speaker 2>My friend built his last computer, his college computer, with
<v Speaker 2>a nine to sixty. That's how old of hardware is thinking.
<v Speaker 1>Run on Yeah this and I'll always go back goes
<v Speaker 1>back to a point of really those that four seventy
<v Speaker 1>four eighty, they did a four ninety and then then
<v Speaker 1>they did the five seventy and the five eighty. All
<v Speaker 1>of those cards still pretty good for ten eighty sixty gaming, like,
<v Speaker 1>still pretty good for that called duty being one that
<v Speaker 1>would definitely want to run on everything.
<v Speaker 2>Still same engine and everything. That what I believe, because
<v Speaker 2>I believe now they are on the modern Warfare reboot
<v Speaker 2>engine across the board over there, I want to say,
<v Speaker 2>and so yeah, that scales really well. So yeah, makes sense, excellent, Jeff.
<v Speaker 2>Last thing here that one add Please have you seen
<v Speaker 2>the analog three D?
<v Speaker 1>No? They do.
<v Speaker 2>They have an analog dot CO slash three D.
<v Speaker 1>All right, anal analog analog.
<v Speaker 2>Dot coal.
<v Speaker 1>Analog with an e U dot CO slash three D.
<v Speaker 1>Where's the ego?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, put the wink and chat?
<v Speaker 1>Thank you? Oh oh you mean okay the British spelling
<v Speaker 1>of analog. Yeah, okay, yeah, there we go. All right,
<v Speaker 1>Let's take a look.
<v Speaker 2>Is this? Yeah? Is this the I knew they were
<v Speaker 2>making the scroll around now, scroll down.
<v Speaker 1>The future is here in a reimagine of the N
<v Speaker 1>sixty four in four K resolution NAX. The resolution of
<v Speaker 1>the original in sixty four, the first and perhaps greatest
<v Speaker 1>multiplayer system of all time. Analog three D is one
<v Speaker 1>hundred percent campatal with every original N sixty four game
<v Speaker 1>ever made, region free Bluetooth l E that's pretty good,
<v Speaker 1>dual band Wi Fi four original style controller ports entirely
<v Speaker 1>new next generation analog hardware featuring three D o s
<v Speaker 1>engineered entirely an FPGA no emulation.
<v Speaker 2>Which is always a misnomer.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, because it's hard. Man, look at that. Oh yes,
<v Speaker 1>that rules. Can I put a sixty four d D
<v Speaker 1>on the bottom that would really rule?
<v Speaker 2>Oh?
<v Speaker 1>Look at the white one. That's crazy.
<v Speaker 2>You know.
<v Speaker 1>This reminds me of like Mitsushida's M two, Like this
<v Speaker 1>is what the M two was gonna look like. Man,
<v Speaker 1>that is very cool. I'm gonna have to get one
<v Speaker 1>of these.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. I got an Xbox shaped N sixty four controller
<v Speaker 2>that goes with it.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, that is yep. Okay, Oh yeah wow yeah the controller, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the A, B and the C buttons. Whoa yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>want that for just having six face buttons. Yeah, this
<v Speaker 1>looks hot at rules? Okay, so very cool. This was
<v Speaker 1>Was this just like confirmed today?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? It was during the show. They like put out
<v Speaker 2>the tweet and then I presume fifty dollars. Yeah, well,
<v Speaker 2>because it's not really a new different internally than their others.
<v Speaker 1>It is right on the same hardware they just got
<v Speaker 1>the Corona as.
<v Speaker 2>Far as we know, yeah, I don't think we know
<v Speaker 2>they they say it's the entirely new next generation analog
<v Speaker 2>hardware featuring three d os, but we don't know what
<v Speaker 2>that means because they could just be saying this is
<v Speaker 2>the new hardware. I don't think they explicitly said new
<v Speaker 2>FPGA because why would they at this point.
<v Speaker 1>You know, Sorry, I'm just gonna email them real quick
<v Speaker 1>and ask for ad Hello, I would like this. Thank you?
<v Speaker 2>All right?
<v Speaker 1>Uh, well, that's business taken care of.
<v Speaker 2>Chez saying that they said a chip. I don't see
<v Speaker 2>confirmation that is again a new chip than is what
<v Speaker 2>is already in the super At and SG and everything.
<v Speaker 2>But if it is interesting, uh you know, like the
<v Speaker 2>mister already runs N sixty four games, so I assume
<v Speaker 2>it's just, you know, some variation of what they already have.
<v Speaker 2>Either way, it's not like it's doing anything better than
<v Speaker 2>the N sixty four at this point.
<v Speaker 1>The mister core for N sixty four is pretty good,
<v Speaker 1>but I don't think it's one hundred percent these days,
<v Speaker 1>is it? Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>No, And that's why this is still more valuable is
<v Speaker 2>because this can if you know, there's a one hundred
<v Speaker 2>percent campable that means assuming kemptrists worked on this one control. Right,
<v Speaker 2>He's the genus who's gonna make this work. So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that actually gives value to this system over you know,
<v Speaker 2>other analog systems versus the mister.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Keptris is the guy that goes into all the
<v Speaker 1>hardware and does it, makes the course for analog. He
<v Speaker 1>used to be just doing that in the community and
<v Speaker 1>analogs like would you like a full time job doing
<v Speaker 1>doing this? Which I always appreciated. I get that a
<v Speaker 1>lot of people don't like Analog. I want captures to
<v Speaker 1>get paid, dude to is John Carmack levels of geniusy,
<v Speaker 1>you know, without the problematic stuff now? Uh Captris's rules. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so always gets excited for their stuff.
<v Speaker 2>So someone in Twitch says, like, wondering, why would analog
<v Speaker 2>get this right when mister doesn't have a fully functional
<v Speaker 2>on sixty four cores? Misters a volunteer project. Yeah right,
<v Speaker 2>people are It's not people's full time jobs to develop
<v Speaker 2>this core.
<v Speaker 1>And there's a lot of talented people working in communities
<v Speaker 1>on that stuff all the time. Still, they will get
<v Speaker 1>it right eventually. Community always does usually get there, especially
<v Speaker 1>with the Nintendo stuff. But it's just going to take
<v Speaker 1>them longer. Uh, what's what's his name spelling? Kevtris? Is
<v Speaker 1>his handle k E a V E t R I
<v Speaker 1>s Yes, that's exactly how sounds. Yeah, I'm get them
<v Speaker 1>on that giant bomb couch. That'd be great.
<v Speaker 2>Sure they are. They are saying it's the most powerful
<v Speaker 2>FPGA we've ever used. Again, I don't think it's it's
<v Speaker 2>probably split between the system and the scaler. If I'd
<v Speaker 2>had to assume if it's like an all in one
<v Speaker 2>system latchipsolution, so that's probably where the extra power is
<v Speaker 2>going to. I wouldn't expect anything like because analog of
<v Speaker 2>products you can do other stuff with them eventually, and
<v Speaker 2>so if I one't excected to do anything more than run,
<v Speaker 2>then in sixty four games.
<v Speaker 1>Is there something about crto the mistakeable signature and still
<v Speaker 1>the CRT on your HDTV in four K Yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>would imagine, yeah, that they're going to have some filters again.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's going to have some of like the retroarchrain
<v Speaker 2>four k's as scular options and filters and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 2>They already had some of them in their previous products, right,
<v Speaker 2>it's going to be even better.
<v Speaker 1>They always work with my life and gaming and stuff
<v Speaker 1>like that to like really like get feedback on that stuff.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, I think I think John guys feedback on stuff,
<v Speaker 2>and John does stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, all right, yeah, mess mess it up with
<v Speaker 1>that signal, make it look funky. I would love that absolutely. Okay, fantastic,
<v Speaker 1>great way to in the show. I am hopeful to
<v Speaker 1>get that in the meantime. Pole question, do you think
<v Speaker 1>the splinter Cell remake ever comes out? Most people do
<v Speaker 1>not said no for holding on to hope and say yes.
<v Speaker 1>I did vote yes because I'm a fool. Uh but
<v Speaker 1>I mean, come on, like, I think that game will
<v Speaker 1>do very well if it comes out and has a
<v Speaker 1>decent amount of effort put into it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, this one seems more likely than say Kotor at
<v Speaker 2>this point to me. Yeah, sure, yeah, I can see
<v Speaker 2>this one because like people assume that MGS Delta would
<v Speaker 2>never come out, and hey, that's you know, we don't
<v Speaker 2>know the exact date yet, but that's coming out, so
<v Speaker 2>I don't see why this one couldn't you know?
<v Speaker 1>Yep, all right, new pole question here in a second.
<v Speaker 1>Before we get to that, though, Sean, why don't you
<v Speaker 1>tell people where they can find you on the internet,
<v Speaker 1>what we have going on, what you have going on?
<v Speaker 1>All that good stuff?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Twitter, dot Com, Turbo, Sean Shawn underscore. I still
<v Speaker 2>got that Dan and Japan travelog. If people haven't watched that,
<v Speaker 2>make sure go check that out on Giant Bomb and watch.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you, thank you. We did the Metaphor Refuntasio review cast.
<v Speaker 2>If people haven't watched that, it is major spoiler free.
<v Speaker 2>We made sure it rein it in just got alarmo
<v Speaker 2>for some reason. Jesus Christ. We had a great talk
<v Speaker 2>on that one, especially if you have like played through
<v Speaker 2>the demo area or just like started up the game,
<v Speaker 2>you can now pretty safely listened to that review cast
<v Speaker 2>because we basically covered stuff that you just already have heard.
<v Speaker 2>I have a secret thing I've been working on. No,
<v Speaker 2>it's not the EVO video. I know some people are
<v Speaker 2>still waiting on that. Sorry, that's coming out eventually. It's
<v Speaker 2>not trained blog. Don't worry.
<v Speaker 1>We'll come in the trading blog versus it's been lost.
<v Speaker 2>But something else, a little something extra and maybe if
<v Speaker 2>people can't remember the last time I used the phrase
<v Speaker 2>a secret project, maybe you know what I've been working on.
<v Speaker 2>But that might come out tomorrow, so all right, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>if it does, I'll make sure to let her aone
<v Speaker 2>know in promoent. But yeah, then that's every thing. Jeff,
<v Speaker 2>Well we got going on on the site.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, today, I want to well, first, at the normal
<v Speaker 1>Blake club time slot, we're not going to be able
<v Speaker 1>to do Blake Club Lucy chickened out by doing work
<v Speaker 1>instead of doing this work. So we're gonna do a
<v Speaker 1>Delight club in that slot, and I will be playing
<v Speaker 1>an incredible crisis for the PS one.
<v Speaker 2>I have it ready to go, so it's like Warrio
<v Speaker 2>wear ish, right.
<v Speaker 1>I think, yeah, kind of yes, We'll find out to
<v Speaker 1>get rhythm something like. My understanding is I need to
<v Speaker 1>learn how to skank. I practiced a little bit. Everybody.
<v Speaker 1>I'm twisting my legs in the opposite direct. It's it's
<v Speaker 1>not great, but I'm working on it. And then before that,
<v Speaker 1>if I get some time, I want to do a
<v Speaker 1>little bit of a spooky game game grab bag am
<v Speaker 1>I just like starts streaming myself get some stuff going
<v Speaker 1>on on the site. I want to do like that
<v Speaker 1>that Muppet PS one Halloween game and Alien Versus Predator
<v Speaker 1>things like that, things along those lines, just kind of
<v Speaker 1>not actually scary games, but like games with monsters in them,
<v Speaker 1>things like that. So sure, uh yeah, we'll do that.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe start that around one one thirty. We'll see if
<v Speaker 1>I'm able to get that all going, and that'll be
<v Speaker 1>that'll be called uh we decided ghosts and Grublins, which
<v Speaker 1>h the Discord community help me figure that one out?
<v Speaker 1>Shout out to the all all right you new poll question,
<v Speaker 1>I can decide one me see here, I'm like, did
<v Speaker 1>I do that?
<v Speaker 2>Oh?
<v Speaker 1>Yes, I was a joke. One Are you faster than
<v Speaker 1>a games journalist and astrobot? And your options are no.
<v Speaker 2>And no, none of you are.
<v Speaker 1>Come with me. I'll show you once and for all,
<v Speaker 1>who's the real man here.
<v Speaker 2>This is the one thing he has, It's the.
<v Speaker 1>One thing I gotta be. That's all I got. All right, Sewan,
<v Speaker 1>thank you so much for hanging out with me today
<v Speaker 1>and talking about video games. Man, I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 1>It's a fun show, Jeff, thank you all for listening,
<v Speaker 1>Thank you all for watching. You're the best audience in gaming.
<v Speaker 1>Until next time, have a good one, take care of
