Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome back to beat your Happy Hour. I'm Joe and I'm Serena, and we are here with none other than the happy newlyweds Gary and Trisa. Welcome to happy Hour and congratulations.

00:00:14
Speaker 2: Thank you so thank you very much. It's good to see you both. Good.

00:00:19
Speaker 3: It's good to see you guys. We're so happy for you. The wedding looked amazing.

00:00:23
Speaker 4: We're so excited to chat with you about all the things, and we were so sad we weren't able to make it. But I know you're going to fill us in and answer all of our burning questions and our listeners burning questions.

00:00:34
Speaker 2: Were so sad as you weren't there too, and we'll do the best we can.

00:00:39
Speaker 1: We were always asked for Gary.

00:00:42
Speaker 4: We weren't able to be there because we both had trips that were pre planned that were a conflict in scheduling. But the night of the wedding, we were flying out early the next morning. But the night of your wedding, we were at a hockey game which was gifted to Joe and I for Christmas, and I was literally like following along as we're watching the hockey.

00:01:03
Speaker 3: Game with the wedding.

00:01:04
Speaker 4: I'm like, oh my god, look at her dress, look at the flowers, look at all of this.

00:01:10
Speaker 3: I was there in spirit.

00:01:13
Speaker 5: That's great?

00:01:14
Speaker 1: All right, Serena, Where should we get started? All right? So you guys, you have you know, you fall in love on television. You have this this engagement on TV first Golden Bachelor, first season, everything so extravagant and wonderful, and you guys look great. What made you want to get married immediately?

00:01:40
Speaker 2: Wow? So there's a number of factors, I guess, But you know, the first one is when you look at someone you know it's right, and you're seventy two, you realize that, you know, waiting a month or a couple of months could possibly be a large percentage of the remaining day you have on earth. And so if you're sure.

00:02:03
Speaker 1: That's Gary, Gary, it don't be so bleak. You have a lot of time.

00:02:07
Speaker 2: It's like you kind of want to get to it if it's right.

00:02:12
Speaker 4: Well, I know you said that you planned a wedding in what like two days your first marriage.

00:02:18
Speaker 5: Was actually and that's actually true. I mean it was my mom who did it, and I don't even know how she got photographers and flowers and a cake and a church. We actually did get married in a church, but then the reception was in our basement, so I don't know how she did that, but.

00:02:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's amazing. So a month felt like a lifetime for you, were like, oh.

00:02:38
Speaker 5: My gosh, so much luxury of times. That great? Yeah, Christmas time too.

00:02:44
Speaker 4: And then you have both been married before, you both had weddings before. Was there anything going into this wedding that you were like, I want to do this differently or I loved this last time that you kind of brought into the planning process.

00:02:58
Speaker 5: Well, so totally different. That we had every single member of our family and the wedding, so that was really such an extravagance to be able to happen. I really miss seeing my grandsons come down and the girls come down, you know, I missed and granddaughters. I would have loved to have seen that. To have every single member of our family part of it was really the most important.

00:03:21
Speaker 2: Part to me, And I think that for at least for me, and I think for both of us, time slowed down during this ceremony and during this process, Whereas when we were both in our very early twenties when we first got married, things were a lot more frantic. Just like Teresa said, you know that two days to put together wedding, and this time, you know, I was able to savor every moment leading up to it, and I really enjoyed all those moments.

00:03:51
Speaker 3: That's amazing.

00:03:52
Speaker 4: Yeah, because I guess the first time, I mean, we just went through it so we can relate to the first time is so high, Tich and so over. Do you feel like you had a sense of like, I know what I'm getting myself into, I know what the day is going to be, Like I can really just take in all of these moments.

00:04:10
Speaker 5: Yeah. And I really was able to just completely forget that this was televised. I really just I said, I'm just going to be in the moment. I was really overwhelmed. And I walked out and I saw these beautiful faces and people and all the love and support, and that just filled me up. And I really was I think you were too able to just totally just forget the fact that we were on TV and we just lived in a moment. Yeah.

00:04:35
Speaker 2: Not only that, but once I walked down the aisle and I turned around and I saw Teresa, I think the only people that I really was aware of was her and all of our family members. The entire audience just kind of became just a mass because I only wanted to focus on those people. So that's really quite a difference from the first time around.

00:04:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, the thing is he wanted to see one at that moment where he saw me, but we had that moment earlier in the day.

00:05:04
Speaker 3: Oh, you did have a first look.

00:05:06
Speaker 5: We did have a first look.

00:05:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh that's nice.

00:05:11
Speaker 4: Did you guys say you wanted to have the first look? Because I know that was a big conversation between Joe and I. But if we were going to do first look at the aisle or first look in.

00:05:18
Speaker 5: Private, I think Gary really wanted to see the first look in the aisle. But then, you know, it made more sentence to do it.

00:05:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, because otherwise we'd have been taking up reception time with photos. That was a hell of a good reception. Let's face it, I didn't want to listen, don't.

00:05:36
Speaker 4: It looked very That was kind of our logic as well when we did the first look. It just really worked so that we didn't have to miss any of the wedding, which is obviously so fun.

00:05:48
Speaker 1: Before before the Golden Bachelor came to existence. Did either of you ever imagine having another huge way reception? Again?

00:06:02
Speaker 5: No, no, not at all at all. This is a complete surprise. This is crazy.

00:06:09
Speaker 1: Okay. So so then going to the reception or just like wedding day or week of wedding, was there any moment where you're just like, this is so surreal, Like like, oh.

00:06:25
Speaker 5: Gosh, there were so many, so many of them. They were also surreal like. And when I was in my room and then I was completely ready, I walked next door to see my daughter, his daughters, his granddaughters, and it was like, Wow, is this really happening? Is this crazy? So yeah, I think it was completely surreal.

00:06:45
Speaker 2: I think the moment for me was when we were all getting dressed and all the grandsons were in the room with me, and I was helping tie ties for them, and I was helping tie shoes and all of that, like all of a sudden have hit me. I have six new grandsons coming into my life, and all of a sudden, I'm helping them tie neckties that I'd never in my entire life done before. That moment was sort of a surreal moment.

00:07:16
Speaker 3: Wow, that's really special.

00:07:19
Speaker 4: I feel like it's such a symbol a great way to end your love story because I feel like The Golden Bachelor has really shown people that you can find love and live life to the fullest and grow and learn at any age in life. Like, there's just no limit to that. And I feel like having this big wedding and celebrating your love in the same way that people are when they're thirty or fifty or whatever age like, there's no there's no age limit to celebrating love.

00:07:46
Speaker 3: To make it, yeah, to make it making it special.

00:07:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, those messages we want to keep alive. We want to constantly talk about having hope and keeping your options alive and being confident about yourself whether you're sixty or seventy or or even older. So activities that we are thinking about doing in the future. That is a theme that we want to constantly reinforce because it's been heard so much and I think it's really changed lives.

00:08:20
Speaker 1: I also think it's really healthy for your grandchildren to be a part of this experience because it is so positive and has such a it's such a great outlook just on life. So for them, I really think it's going to be beneficial.

00:08:33
Speaker 5: That's really nicely. Thank you, I said to Henry, Because he likes to say things like whatever you feel like. I said, Henry, this is live, and say whatever you want. He did his job and he went.

00:08:45
Speaker 3: Up there and he did it so good, so.

00:08:48
Speaker 1: Good, all right, so oh, go ahead, go ahead.

00:08:52
Speaker 5: There's one point they had told my grandsons to go left in the aisle and then all of a sudden there are flowers. Say they had to leap over the flower.

00:09:00
Speaker 4: Oh my god, the flowers. The flowers were beautiful. Did you guys know what everything was going to look like?

00:09:07
Speaker 3: Nor was it like a surprise.

00:09:09
Speaker 5: It was beyond beyond, beyond my waves expectations. I think I just put out an Instagram poster and said, you know, I told I spoke with Mindy and I said how much I love flowers. But wow, wow, did you do it? It was so incredible? Yeah?

00:09:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, were you did you know?

00:09:26
Speaker 4: Were you familiar with her work at all before you got the chance to work with her on this wedding, I'd say.

00:09:31
Speaker 5: My daughter was, and she did.

00:09:34
Speaker 4: Yes, Yeah, she did Sarah Wills's wedding really yeah, which was also a beautiful her like the design of her weddings is believable.

00:09:44
Speaker 5: Believe she's so sweet and yet she doesn't impose anything that she wants. It's like totally listening to and it's all what you want.

00:09:53
Speaker 2: There was a time or two when we would question and she had such a diplomatic way of saying, you guys, trust me, you will like this, and it was like yep, lo and behold. When the final product was there, it was it was spectacular.

00:10:12
Speaker 1: What do you guys think is the biggest biggest difference in a wedding reception today from before when you first got married. Is there any money? Money as money?

00:10:27
Speaker 2: It's like a whole big business.

00:10:29
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, the wedding industry is raking it in.

00:10:34
Speaker 5: Yeah that's true, that's true.

00:10:36
Speaker 2: But but I guess, seriously, the scope of things. You know, I remember the reception I had with Tony was in the church basement. Everyone carried in a hot dish that was our food, you know, for the wedding. And I don't even remember if we had music. So now you know, when you look at the productions and not just don't, but you know everyone's productions and the music and the staging and everything is huge.

00:11:07
Speaker 5: Also, we didn't write our own vows. In that day, like in the seventies, you didn't. It was just the traditional do you take this man to be your husband? That's it. So then that developed over the years where you would say, write your own vows, So I think that was different.

00:11:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so interesting. I didn't know that, you know that.

00:11:28
Speaker 1: I think I feel like I did know that just based off of I just feel like older movies like you never heard anyone.

00:11:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, revow my parents didn't write their own Yeah.

00:11:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, that developed.

00:11:40
Speaker 3: So and when did it did?

00:11:42
Speaker 4: What was the conversation like when you guys did talk about if you were going to write your own vows or not?

00:11:47
Speaker 5: Yeah, we were.

00:11:48
Speaker 2: We both agreed to that one hundred percent. There wasn't much of a conversation at all. We both looked at each other and said, yeah, we're writing our own vals. Yes, and we didn't talk about it any further. So, literally, the moments at the platform when we exchanged those files were the very first moments that either of us heard from the ever about it.

00:12:07
Speaker 5: It took a while to write them, I'm sure you know, and I really was committed to the fact that I wanted to just say it and not have to read it. And just moments before I was I was reading it. I was saying, it's my daughter, and I didn't get it right. I kept not getting it right. Then I finally said it and I go, yeah, and I want to have fun with you for the rest of our days. I said, which could be another hour, and she said, I'll leave it in.

00:12:30
Speaker 3: I said, you're making like last minute edits right before you are.

00:12:36
Speaker 5: I said the word dead.

00:12:39
Speaker 1: What was it?

00:12:40
Speaker 3: She said the word dead.

00:12:42
Speaker 5: Because Susan said, where do you think you'll be in ten years? And I went deadly kidding it was a joke. We're going to be the one to over one hundred and twenty, right.

00:12:52
Speaker 3: You were going to outlive us all.

00:12:56
Speaker 4: How so you mentioned Susan she was your which was so amazing and special.

00:13:03
Speaker 3: How did you guys make that decision?

00:13:05
Speaker 5: It's easy. It was such an easy decision. We wanted that so badly from the very beginning. Really, we were dying to tell her, and we thought that we'd be able to at least be on a zoom call and tell her. But they wait for a long long time. Yes, it was unanimous. We wouldn't.

00:13:21
Speaker 2: I mean, I remember the night that we were talking and I was a little apprehensive of bringing Susan up to her, knowing that it was a previous contestant. And I'm not even sure how it happened, but she may have said Susan just about the same time I did when we started talking about an officient. So you know, there's been a lot of those moments with us that we've pretty much been in agreement, you know, without even much discussion, which has really helped a lot.

00:13:52
Speaker 5: And she far extended our expectations. I mean, how great was she. She's so she looked so beautiful, dress so appropriately and like really made it just made it so great.

00:14:04
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:14:06
Speaker 1: And then how about having all the other alum Bachelor Bachelor, the Golden Bachelor women at the wedding. How special was that for you guys?

00:14:16
Speaker 5: Absolutely spectacular. We would have wanted every single yeah, right there. Yes, we were all about it. I mean, there is lots of love amongst all of us and camaraderie, and you know, it's an experience that that's just so special to the people who were in the experience, and we love every single one of them. I talked to them all the time.

00:14:37
Speaker 2: I go back to the very first night when everyone got out of the limo and we had a cocktail party before anyone had to go home. It was one of the most joyous moments I had in the entire season because you could just feel the mutual respect and the support and the love for each other. And when you are together with those women now, whether it's at our wedding or any other event, I have that feeling again. They're just you know, we have a bond now that you know it will never it will never be dismantled. It's gorgeous, it's wonderful.

00:15:14
Speaker 3: That's amazing.

00:15:15
Speaker 4: Yeah, the show really does bond you in such a special and unique way, and I think even more so with you guys being the first ever goal to a bachelor season. We speak of the other women, How was the bachelor party?

00:15:30
Speaker 3: Chreesa, Oh my gosh.

00:15:32
Speaker 5: All right, so everything at the taeschelor party was a surprise to me. Okay, it was all surprised. It's just a nervous as everybody else. But then you know, and I know that when I have to tell them, okay, we're going to do a boudoir shoot, they kind of you know, Ellen was like oh no, and this one was like, oh I don't think so. And then they really embraced it, got into it and looked so gorgeous. I mean, these girls look so amazing, like one after another. So and we had so much fun, Like at the end there we're just like kind of fun and then they will.

00:16:07
Speaker 2: So yeah, Joe, I got a question for you. You know, like for guys, it's sort of an unwritten rule. You know, look, but don't.

00:16:21
Speaker 5: Touch right, You're right.

00:16:24
Speaker 2: There was a lot of touching.

00:16:28
Speaker 5: Watching.

00:16:30
Speaker 2: Wait a minute, this is this is like they were playing the piano up and down. Those guys ass cooperative.

00:16:43
Speaker 1: Well that's what I was gonna say, Gary, what are you You didn't have a bachelor party? Correct?

00:16:48
Speaker 2: I did not?

00:16:49
Speaker 1: Well see now I now I almost feel like, you know, your friend should do a little something, maybe just like a little weekend getaway where you know, you get to go.

00:17:04
Speaker 2: We'll take our golf clubs to legitimize the trip. Yeah, it'll look like we're going to play.

00:17:11
Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow, wow, I see things have really changed. The dynamic hair has really changed.

00:17:18
Speaker 1: Okay, when you when when both of you first got married, did you have bachelorette and bachelor parties?

00:17:27
Speaker 2: I didn't know, and I did okay, and it was. I think I still have the headache. My children were born with a headache because of that bat or Bachelor.

00:17:39
Speaker 1: Okay, what'd you do? What did you do?

00:17:41
Speaker 2: Us? I remember we watched the sun come up. There was a lot of drinking. We went to a strip bar early on. You know, there's the night. I remember there was a small restaurant that was in Davenport, Iowa. Was sort of I'm sorry, Iowa. It was kind of iconic for watching the sun come up on a hangover, and you got certain food that was supposed to help you with the It didn't work, and I think I was sick for two days. So when we party, I was fine not having one.

00:18:18
Speaker 3: So now you guys are even. You each had one. Gary's had a bach party and Teresa's had a party.

00:18:24
Speaker 2: I'm sure if you want to call it that, I mean mine was from fifty years ago. Fifty five years ago.

00:18:30
Speaker 5: It's very louvish. Mine was so much fun. It's so much fun. We should be there.

00:18:34
Speaker 3: Oh good, I wish I was there too. It did. It did look like a good time.

00:18:38
Speaker 4: Okay, Gary, we have to ask you what did you think of the photos of Teresa during her Boodoor photo shoot.

00:18:45
Speaker 2: There is a photo of her standing in a double door and looking down and her legs are crossed at her ankles. That is just absolutely breathtaking. And I was fortunate enough to have that gifted to me shortly before the before the wedding, and honest to gosh, I now have it in, you know, in a really nice private spot in my closet at home, where I see it every single day. It is just such a gorgeous It captures her spirit, not just physically but emotionally and her attitude about things. It is. It is an awesome picture, thank you.

00:19:27
Speaker 5: It is not anymore.

00:19:30
Speaker 4: I didn't keep it in that closet all you want, Gary, but the photo is out there.

00:19:35
Speaker 2: I guess that's a good point. It's just that, you know, I kind of want to see it every day, you know, in this particular spot.

00:19:43
Speaker 5: I honestly thought it was only for him. I didn't know what ever be shown by me anywhere, so that was surprising to me.

00:19:50
Speaker 3: It's amazing. It's amazing. The photos are beautiful. You should share them absolutely, thank you.

00:19:57
Speaker 1: Wait, so we mentioned the golden at her women Susan, but Gary standing up there and marrying Teresa. Was there a moment where you kind of just like looked at it all and just like, did it feel your journey feel complete? Like you really start like this all came out of nowhere. It's a brand new show. You start and you actually you finished the way you wanted to with this beautiful woman, Like did that talk about that?

00:20:34
Speaker 6: I think the the end of it for me, so to speak, was in Costa Rica when I asked Teresa to marry me. Because it was at that moment that I didn't care about timing or anything else. I was literally one thousand percent convinced that she was the right woman for me, and I really knew at that point that we would get married. I did know that it would be so quickly. I didn't even really think of a timeline.

00:21:06
Speaker 2: But but that was when I felt like I had the final chapter, the final sentence of the final chapter written. The wedding was sort of the danium wa So I guess that's kind of the best way I would describe it.

00:21:25
Speaker 1: And then Teresa, how about you? Did you would you kind of like look at everyone like him, Yeah, I'm the best, I'm the weather.

00:21:32
Speaker 4: Guess that is what Joe would do that is Joe would be like, hey, everyone, I got it, and I'm walking down the aisle.

00:21:40
Speaker 3: I got I fell in love.

00:21:43
Speaker 5: There's all spectacular women. Yeah. No, I never felt like.

00:21:48
Speaker 1: No, no, but was it Did you feel like this full circle it was for your personal journey?

00:21:55
Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, for my personal journey. Yes, I did feel that, and I felt it at the same time at that podium when because we didn't know how long it was going to be before we get married or where, and that this was going to happen. This wasn't even in our minds at that time. Yeah, I can say that like it was for me, it was spectacular. I really felt like it was just.

00:22:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've said it a few times over through the season. Teresa makes me calm. And when I got down on one knee and she said yes with such excitement that she would marry me, that was the moment of calm for me. So anything beyond that was just well, Okay, the wedding was pretty awesome.

00:22:40
Speaker 4: So yeah, Teresa, you looked so beautiful walking down the aisle. You had two looks, right, you had your ceremony looking in your reception. Look, how did you choose? Like I felt so overwhelmed when I went dress shopping. What was your dress shopping process?

00:22:55
Speaker 5: I was completely overwhelmed, and think, I know all these women there to help me. So I looked at all these dresses. There's so many there, and I go, okay, you guys, just pick out your favorite dress and each there were six of them, So they picked up six, and then I picked out three, and then I went upstairs and then I tried them on, and I honestly liked the first dress a lot, but it was kind of see through. So I was convinced now that that couldn't be. I said, oh, two were gay. So then when I walked down the stairs and they all went nuts over this dress, I so, okay, I guess this is the one. I guess this is it? Yeah, how about you?

00:23:28
Speaker 2: Was it?

00:23:29
Speaker 5: You?

00:23:29
Speaker 2: Wait?

00:23:29
Speaker 3: So you said, all the women picked and then you picked three. Which who you picked? The one that you chose?

00:23:35
Speaker 5: Oh oh, oh my gosh. I think it was close to the one that Susan picked. I think she picked the first one that you see me walking to, and this this one I might have chosen. And it looked just like that one, except it wasn't see through, and it wasn't think yeah, so yeah, I'm gonna say, Susan kind of said I picked that.

00:23:56
Speaker 3: She's like.

00:23:58
Speaker 5: That one.

00:23:59
Speaker 3: Yeah, and then what about your second dress? I loved your second look. Oh my gosh, thank you so much.

00:24:04
Speaker 5: I liked it so much. It was beautiful. It was really by carry the stylist, I mean, he chose it and looked, you know, found many several dresses for me, and I said, oh, this is the one. It's just gorgeous. It's so comfortable, it's you know, it's funky, it looks it looks so cool. So and finally got addressed to see through in the bottom. So yeah, I loved I loved both of them. I couldn't. Yeah, I was. They were both appropriate for what they were doing. Totally, thank you, Joe.

00:24:30
Speaker 2: I'm noticing that during this conversation you're kind of quiet, and Serena's face just gets smilier and smilier. It's like we're maybe mutually we're not we're not dressed guys.

00:24:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I want to hear more about you.

00:24:45
Speaker 3: I don't want to talk about your wedding. I want to hear more.

00:24:47
Speaker 1: About I want to hear more about Gary's first bachelor party. Okay, we're going to get We're going to get more. We're going to get more into the reception. We have a lot of bachelor alum that was at the wedding, so many more questions. And just before we get into more of the reception, you guys have been married for a week. How has it been after all the commotion and the chaos and the partying and the excitement.

00:25:13
Speaker 5: It's been really good. So Gary had to go back home to get his dog and to straighten out a few things and go to visit his dad again. And then he just actually just drove here so you can time.

00:25:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, drove yesterday, so it's about a ten hour drive.

00:25:30
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:25:30
Speaker 2: So Dakota, my golden Doodle, and I loaded up the pickup truck and tools and pickleball equipment and clothes and dog stuff and everything, and we had our little drive across the country and arrived here last night just in time for a gloriously good dinner. Oh, thank you, it's great.

00:25:56
Speaker 1: What was it? What'd you make? What'd you make?

00:25:58
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:25:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I made salmon, but not just salmon. I did a base of chicken broth with kadalini beans and spinach, and put the salmon on top of it, and then did risted cauliflower and risted potatoes.

00:26:13
Speaker 3: On Instagram.

00:26:14
Speaker 5: We did. Yeah, so that's.

00:26:16
Speaker 3: Last time you guys were here.

00:26:19
Speaker 4: You were talking about how Teresa is like super healthy in terms of her diet. Gary has been rubbing off on you and I'll have you been rubbing off on each other?

00:26:27
Speaker 3: Like maybe Teresa's a little more.

00:26:29
Speaker 2: I'm trying really hard, but you know, like I ate the dinner last night. It was very healthy, and all I could think about was what I wanted for dessert. So I was able to get past dessert. But this morning, as soon as Teresa went to work, I went out in my car and got a box of or a bag of the snacks that you get at the airport with the little Eminem's and nuts and raisins. Oh yeah, yeah.

00:26:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, I said, last night, what do you want in the house. You didn't tell me that.

00:27:00
Speaker 3: He's like, I want junk food, Teresa.

00:27:03
Speaker 2: It's a process. You know, I'm gonna get there, but it'll just take a little time.

00:27:08
Speaker 5: And I said, and he said he wants bagels. I said, if I go to this store, it's just like storeboard bagels. You've got to get authentic New Jersey bagels. And he didn't. Wait, but you know, maybe tomorrow you can get a really good bagel. Yeah.

00:27:22
Speaker 1: If you're going to have like a if you're gonna have a cheat dinner, you want to go get some junk food. What are you doing? Like cheeseburger pizza.

00:27:29
Speaker 2: Pizza pizza Detroit style pizza, the big, big, chewy crust pizza.

00:27:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, and does not agree with that.

00:27:39
Speaker 5: But you said you love that pizza that we've got New Jersey.

00:27:45
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I will say on the board block during the season, I had a piece of New Jersey pizza that was really good.

00:27:56
Speaker 3: It doesn't surprise me.

00:27:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, what's yours?

00:27:59
Speaker 5: Only sheet I have is if there's really great tear massou at a restaurant, I will eat Tearmaszoo. So that's about it. Yeah, but you know he can eat whatever he wants. It's great. You know, it's always you're happy.

00:28:16
Speaker 4: So what is the plan now? Because you're both in New Jersey currently with the dog, with all the clothes, with the tools, with the pick the wall stuff. Last time we talked to you, you were looking in Charleston. Is that still kind of the plan?

00:28:29
Speaker 5: We're still going to look there. Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, Well we're going to consider New Jersey, but it's probably going to be outside of Charleston, like so, yes, that's the plan. So the plan is that we're going to plan that. We're going to sit down and plan. And all of a sudden, my wheels started spinning about the trip to Italy like that, finally, you know, I'm not having to think about the wedding or Christmas or work. I am still thinking about work, but now I can actually plan it, and I'm so excited about it, Like, you know, that's what we're thinking to go in May or June when the weather's really nice. So that's our yeah, and.

00:29:07
Speaker 3: Then that ye, will that be your official honeymoon? We did it our honeymoon as well.

00:29:11
Speaker 5: Yes, I know, I know, I know. So we have to know what you liked and you would you want more of? What would you want less of? Where do we go? And I'm thinking I've already been Roman above. We're thinking Roman below, and you know, and and maybe being in the luxury hotels, but then mixing it up with being with you know, right in the economy with people and you know, trying to get the field for the people because I'm full Italian.

00:29:41
Speaker 1: Have you have you been to the Amalfi Coast.

00:29:44
Speaker 5: I've only been to Capri Capri, but not no one, and that's high on our list for this trip. Yeah, that's where we're going.

00:29:51
Speaker 3: It's really pretty.

00:29:53
Speaker 5: And so you planned the weather the trip.

00:29:56
Speaker 1: Did I'm a planner, So I did plan. I did plan our honeymoon. So if you guys, you guys need my help, I don't charge yet. I wouldn't charge you guys start charging, but any of our listeners, I am starting a new business honeymoon.

00:30:15
Speaker 2: Joe the market maker for traveling.

00:30:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what, you would be a great honeymoon.

00:30:21
Speaker 1: I would be. I don't know if that's if that's a thing. If that's a role, there we go.

00:30:25
Speaker 4: Susan can officiate weddings and you can plan everyone's honeymoons. You guys could go into business together and Wells. Wells can also officiate weddings.

00:30:32
Speaker 1: Wow wow yeah have you guys. Have you guys had a chance to watch the special back? Did you watch it back?

00:30:39
Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, we I did fully, he did fully, and then we started last night watching it together. Yeah, we wanted to watch it together. I kept saying, Oh, wow, Cathy's really good. Wow, that's really good staring a great job, look at that. But then and wow, and all of them were so all the women were so so so beautiful and Jack Charity was so good. I mean, they had such present.

00:31:01
Speaker 2: It's fun to watch the background too, and see all of your friends enjoying themselves and you know, the guests that you've invited. That was that was really that was a lot of fun.

00:31:12
Speaker 5: Yeah, just kept saying, oh, look, I kept saying, look at the background, look at who's there.

00:31:24
Speaker 1: What were your what were your thoughts on Branden and Christina getting engaged?

00:31:31
Speaker 5: Yeah, so they called you, they didn't call you.

00:31:34
Speaker 1: Okay, I've heard.

00:31:36
Speaker 2: A couple of comments like, oh geez, that was inappropriate and you know, why steal the thunder and you know, the spotlight from the wedding and you know, Britain called and he was very sincere and earnest about his request. And he goes and I've talked to you know, I consider him a pretty good friend, and I've talked to some of the kids and and so forth, and he was really earnest about the question. And I said, hold on, let me call Teresa, and I said yes, and so I buzzed him back quick and I said, yeah, go for it, you know what.

00:32:13
Speaker 5: And they didn't interfere with that wedding that happened before we were there, so that's true.

00:32:18
Speaker 3: It'd be different they like stood up in the middle of your ceremony.

00:32:22
Speaker 5: Completely different. But then we watched it. I was just so cute. Oh my god, it was really cute watching So that was great. Live and let live and the more the merrier, and it's fine, yeah, yeah.

00:32:34
Speaker 1: And it's it's not like people are going to stop celebrating you guys all just because like these two guys. It only just it's only just like a it's just extra. It's just an added layer. You know.

00:32:48
Speaker 5: It looks like an awards show.

00:32:50
Speaker 3: It's it. The way they set it up.

00:32:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, red carpet, all the guests would come by little brief interview pictures. It was really well thought out, well put together production.

00:33:05
Speaker 5: We were sad we weren't part of that. You weren't part of any of it, and we're said about that, but I would have loved to have seen have been there with all of that. But you got more of it than I did.

00:33:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, were there any bachelor bachelor alum that you guys got to meet that you were excited to meet or that you just yet happy to see again.

00:33:25
Speaker 5: Yes, yes, I think.

00:33:27
Speaker 2: Well. One of the interesting things is I got to play pickleball with Trista the next day, did you Yes? And that was great fun. Her daughter was with her. We had the whole we had both families together. We runted a couple of courts and everybody was having a great time playing pickleball. Anna was there, you know, one of the early season you know bachelorettes. Trista showed up. She's a pretty good player, and uh so that was that was fun.

00:33:57
Speaker 5: Yeah. I was excited about Desiree and Jade and Kitlin to see her again. And Molly because well I used to watch that my husband and these are these are the seasons that I watched. And Ben Higgins. It was very exciting. Yeah, kept looking for you guys, where are they?

00:34:19
Speaker 3: We should have let you know we weren't coming. Would R s v P properly?

00:34:25
Speaker 1: No, I would have played Gary the next day and pickle.

00:34:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, going to go back. Ashley and Jared I never got to meet. I believe they were there, but I never get to meet them.

00:34:37
Speaker 1: They were ye there they were.

00:34:46
Speaker 2: A little you guys, you turn in your turn.

00:34:50
Speaker 5: I can tell you what my highlights.

00:34:51
Speaker 1: Were actually, love to hear your highlights.

00:34:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, I would say that his daughter's speaking and then my daughter's thing just was I know that and I read comments, Oh it shouldn't have been done then, but it was amazing for us to hear that. And they they really spoke from the heart, so that was amazing. And to see Henry come down and to see all the beautiful, incredible people they are just to be really, like I said before, surrounded by such positive, loving people and then the flowers, Wow, wow wow. And the band. Did you hear about the band whoa like this was? Oh my god, it was. I don't I'm kind of say the name of the band. They were JB Project. They were phenomenal. No one stopped dancing every day, it was just non the entire night. So and they were there were entertainers beyond just being musicians. They were dancing. They were just incredible.

00:35:51
Speaker 2: And you did miss the moments when when we were taken up on stage with the band so you could watch the spotlight and two people of our age trying to keep up with the younger bachelors and bachelorets. Y.

00:36:07
Speaker 5: I would get to a point where I was too tired, you know, I had to sit down, and I go walk across the dance floor and some young thirty year old and stop me and go and I go, okay, keep dancing. I think I might die really on the dance floor right now.

00:36:21
Speaker 2: But something that I thought was a highlight for the wedding, and it's sort of in the background, but we both made such good friends with some of the crew during that season that, you know, after we put together our invitation list, we insisted that there were you know a number of those people attend the wedding as our guests, not as working people, because we were treated so extremely well and courteously and respectfully through that entire season that it would have been criminal to not have them there as our guest.

00:37:01
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:37:01
Speaker 2: There, you know, Steve and Bradford and I mean my list could go on and on, but they were great.

00:37:09
Speaker 1: Was there anyone that anyone that's part of your life that you really wanted to be at the wedding that just couldn't make it.

00:37:16
Speaker 5: Maybe my relatives from Italy and my dad.

00:37:22
Speaker 2: I had it set up for my dad to be there, and he had to check with his cardiologist, and the cardiologist said, absolutely, no way, you can't. You can't fly. So I set it up to have an exact, nearly as possible duplicate of the wedding cake in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I found a baker, my daughter helped me, Angie, and so we had a wedding cake made and delivered to him on wedding night. So he had a watch party like he has had in the past, and he has told me afterwards that's as drunk as he's ever gotten in the last twenty five years.

00:37:59
Speaker 3: Really.

00:38:00
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:38:00
Speaker 2: He was drinking Irish whiskey and champagne back and forth, and so, you know, I was really happy that he enjoyed it the best he could, but he was real disappointed he couldn't go.

00:38:12
Speaker 5: Yeah, and I would say, my mom and dad are not around anymore. The boy would I love for them to have been there. They would have just loved it so much.

00:38:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's really special.

00:38:21
Speaker 4: I'm I guess that's the perk of having a live televised weddings.

00:38:25
Speaker 3: You know, for sure he was getting to watch the.

00:38:28
Speaker 4: Whole thing from home and celebrate with you guys, even though he wasn't able to be there. Was it so surreal having like the people that work on the show, your for more contestants, Bachelor alumni, and then also your family and friends all in one room. I mean, that's a lot of different groups of people all together celebrating you insane.

00:38:51
Speaker 5: You know.

00:38:52
Speaker 2: I just kept looking around at that group and it'd be one familiar face after another, and I'm going, who am I to be associating with celebrities like this? You know, It's like, you know, I'm just a guy from Indiana. Then all of a sudden got swept into this and I know all these people now, But that part was really it was almost overwhelming when you look at all the happy faces.

00:39:16
Speaker 5: Yeah, you're right, Serena. Though, to have all of these people in the same room that just and they were so they were starstar too, like our friends and family. They wanted to meet all these other women and they're so excited about it, and yeah, and meeting my grandsons. It was amazing. I wish.

00:39:36
Speaker 1: I don't think there's anyone in the country that doesn't know the Golden Couples. So you guys might have been the crities the room.

00:39:45
Speaker 2: That hasn't hit home yet.

00:39:47
Speaker 1: So who was the drunkest. Who was the drunkest person at the reception?

00:39:52
Speaker 5: Who was the drunkest I don't know.

00:39:54
Speaker 4: That means there's probably you.

00:39:59
Speaker 5: I guess it was the person I was having the best time, I know, and I know somebody was on Braden's Was it Wells?

00:40:06
Speaker 2: It was Wells on.

00:40:09
Speaker 3: Product?

00:40:09
Speaker 2: It was well that sounds about right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was pretty That was in the last fifteen or twenty minutes before the end of the band, and I turned around and looked and and there was Wells on Braiden's shoulders.

00:40:23
Speaker 3: Oh my god, that is so fun.

00:40:26
Speaker 1: And it was yeah, no, no, no, go ahead, Teresa.

00:40:32
Speaker 5: No no, it was It's non stop dancing. It just I don't think there was a slow dance plate.

00:40:37
Speaker 3: I was going to say, what did you guys do for your first dance? Did you have a first dance? Yeah?

00:40:41
Speaker 5: Yeah, So my favorite is Dan Morrison. So I don't know if you've ever heard this song someone like you? Yeah, of course, oh you know that one, okay, and then we changed that into sure Thing by Miguel which that's so.

00:40:59
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:40:59
Speaker 5: We actually we did have a choreographed dance we did. We were not com in it that we could pull it off. We wanted to do it, but oh what if we missed the whole thing up because we didn't have enough time to really practice it.

00:41:11
Speaker 3: That's so fun if.

00:41:13
Speaker 4: Yeah, my dad, for our father daughter dance, wanted to like he was like nervous about it, so he wanted to kind of choreograph it a little bit, like not anything fancy, just like where he was stepping and stuff. And I was like, okay, okay. But by the time it came like we both had a few drinks, I was like, we're not.

00:41:30
Speaker 3: Going to remember this. Let's just have fun.

00:41:32
Speaker 4: It's fine, Like we're not going to remember the dance, like we're not going to remember any of the steps.

00:41:37
Speaker 3: Like, let's just he was like, okay, yeah, sounds good exactly.

00:41:41
Speaker 2: I was really fired up about it though, because the last ninety seconds of our dance was a little boo thing.

00:41:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it was cool. It was really cool.

00:41:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, we were almost there. You know, another couple of times together, we would have had time to rehearse it enough, but we would have done it.

00:41:55
Speaker 5: You make me feel so young, was the song, right, was it? Yeah? It was. It started out you make me Feel So young, Frank Sinatra, sort of like a walled sort of thing, and he was picked me up. It was so great. This ever worked out, lots of stins, lots of twirls, tilting in, Oh my god, pushing me back. Oh, it was great.

00:42:15
Speaker 4: You guys should you guys should film that. You guy should film that and posted. People would love to see that.

00:42:22
Speaker 2: I think Islands in the Stream for us was pushing me a little bit, so that was impromptu.

00:42:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, we should try to try to do.

00:42:31
Speaker 1: Anything happened after the reception. Was there an after party after?

00:42:35
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:42:35
Speaker 3: How did you close out the night?

00:42:37
Speaker 1: Oh?

00:42:37
Speaker 2: Ye?

00:42:37
Speaker 1: And food? Did you have night food?

00:42:41
Speaker 2: You know? It was the most unglamorous, unspectacular way to end the wedding night. I trudged to my suite, grabbed enough clothes to start the next morning. By the time I got to her suite, she was already under the covers. Yeah, we gave it all we had. It was kind of like game time, and when the final buzzer went off, we were sacking. We were done.

00:43:06
Speaker 5: We were for such a long time.

00:43:08
Speaker 3: So what time did you guys go to bed?

00:43:09
Speaker 5: At it was like kind of midnight, right, No, we left at midnight, so that's really late for a seven year old.

00:43:18
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well and when did you start? I bet you started. When'd you start your day? I'm assuming like eight am?

00:43:23
Speaker 5: Right, we were started eight on our feet all day?

00:43:28
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, I think we went to bed at like one am. Two.

00:43:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, we were, we were. I remember just being by the end of it because you're just you're you're on all socially drained, like by the end of the.

00:43:39
Speaker 4: Day, emotionally burnt out.

00:43:43
Speaker 2: And it was it wasn't just the one day, it was like the several days before. By the time, you know, we got to the resorts and you know, literally everybody on that resort I think knew who we were. So it was constantly stopping the photos and you know, a chat and some people want to chat a little bit longer, and so it's like three days or four days in a.

00:44:06
Speaker 5: Row of being on Yeah, exactly what Joe said, socially draining, Like great, we love to meet everybody, but yeah.

00:44:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember when we were in Charleston for our wedding, I was always running late and I was like, why does this keep happening to me. And it was because I would be like, Okay, it's going to take me, you know, ten minutes to get to this lunch spot, but then you run into everyone and then it takes you twenty five minutes to get there because you're saying exactly right, yeah, ten minutes becomes an hour, Yeah, exactly.

00:44:36
Speaker 2: And you may not have noticed, but Trees, it tends to be a little chatty, so she's happy to engage people.

00:44:43
Speaker 5: Right. But the next morning was so great. We were having breakfast with everyone, so that was greating me played pickleball, and then some of our family went on hikes, so we had a lot of fun. The next thing. We had to have that energy for.

00:44:58
Speaker 1: That, so you warn't hungover it, you warn't hungover at all for the next day.

00:45:03
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:45:04
Speaker 2: I think I had one one gear beer and that was it.

00:45:09
Speaker 4: Is that the orange juice of vodka cranberry and vodka Vodcat.

00:45:15
Speaker 5: I remember, I remember I'm was the one who gave him this first drink and I had heard I think maybe it was your podcast where he said he liked cranberry vodka, and when I saw the orange, I got, what's going on this isn't your drink, but it was his teeth that he couldn't stain them.

00:45:28
Speaker 4: Yeah, the cranberry gets your lips a little red, right right? Everyone be like Gary's making up with everyone with red lipstick today?

00:45:36
Speaker 5: Reallyberry? Yeah, you know I was able to, like when we got everybody's fussing around us and testing around me, and I was just really like, Okay, it's fine. I just really just lived in that moment, like I said before, and just enjoyed it. I was I'm so grateful that we were able to do that, to really enjoy that.

00:45:56
Speaker 1: Moment before we let you go, Are you guys going to be watching Joey's season?

00:46:01
Speaker 5: Yes? Absolutely? Wait him, absolutely, we have to watch Joey's season together. We love him so much and can't wait. It looks so good.

00:46:09
Speaker 1: And what advice did you give him?

00:46:12
Speaker 2: Any advice?

00:46:13
Speaker 1: And if you didn't, what advice would you give him?

00:46:16
Speaker 5: Oh, just go with your heart and be in the moment, be open to everything. But he's done it already, and so I'm sure he's chosen this most wonderful person.

00:46:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's seen it from the other side, so now he's seeing it from the lead side. And I think Joey is a pretty sharp guy, so you know, any advice we would give him might lead him astray. So I think he's going to be just fine on his own.

00:46:44
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:46:44
Speaker 2: You know, a guy that can pull off a pink suit like he can, he's got it going on.

00:46:50
Speaker 5: Now he has to keep his secret for a long, long, long time. Yeah, this will bond us, this experience, you know, more so to watch Joey's.

00:47:01
Speaker 2: You know.

00:47:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll be nice because it'll be like the first season.

00:47:04
Speaker 4: You guys are watching after your journey's over, so it'll be kind of like a sentimental little viewing party at your host every night.

00:47:13
Speaker 3: Joe I the first season I watched back.

00:47:16
Speaker 4: Actually I got anxiety watching the night one episode because you put yourself in their shoes, and I was so nervous when I did that.

00:47:23
Speaker 3: But it's fun to kind of be able to be like, oh, like I remember when I did that night.

00:47:29
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm sure, Yeah, I can't wait to see it.

00:47:33
Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I have something for you guys, if you're able to get to Florence. There's an ice cream shop called Vivoli, and they have a vanilla custard espresso drink.

00:47:48
Speaker 3: It's like an Agato.

00:47:53
Speaker 1: This is the best thing in the world. That is the shop to go to. That That is my wedding gift from you guys.

00:48:07
Speaker 5: Is that little bit of did you say bully beat?

00:48:13
Speaker 1: So it's b I D.

00:48:15
Speaker 2: L I.

00:48:16
Speaker 1: It has like a purple neon sign.

00:48:20
Speaker 3: So great, that's wonderful, Joe, three of them?

00:48:23
Speaker 5: Oh God like around, that's a great serena.

00:48:27
Speaker 2: Did you notice when he said it's the best thing in the world, he looked at you as if he was racing for a blow.

00:48:32
Speaker 3: Yeah, because we both know that that tops me. He would choose any day.

00:48:39
Speaker 1: But you're not. You're not a thing, You're a person, you know, person?

00:48:44
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:48:45
Speaker 2: Good?

00:48:45
Speaker 5: Say good?

00:48:46
