Speaker 1: Taking a Walk Nashville. Well, this is Buzz Night, the host of Taking a Walk, and I'm so happy to have Sarah Harrison for Taking a Walk Nashville. We're gonna do the Taking a Walk Nashville concert calendar. So let's take a look and see what's happening in music city, Sarah, what do you see on the horizon.

Speaker 2: There's a lot of fun events coming up in Nashville, as always, but so much packed into this November. I think I'm most excited for the Country Music Hall of Fame Muscle Shoals concert coming up on November fourteenth. So Country Music Hall of Fame, they're opening a new exhibit all based around the music of Muscle Shoals. So during November fourteenth at the CMA Theater, the house band of Muscle Shoals Aces will be performing and some of the featured artists include Tiara Kennedy, Maggoty Maggie Rose, Shenandoah, and Wendy Molten, who I know very well.

Speaker 1: Now, when was the last walk through you had for the amazing Country Music Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2: It's probably been a few years. I've been there quite a few times. I've been to a lot of concerts at the CMA Theater. But what I love about the Hall of Fame is they're always changing up their exhibits, so there's always a reason to go back to see their new exhibits.

Speaker 1: I think it's one of the best museums that I've certainly been to. And you know, there's some amazing ones out there, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame being one of them. But what I love about the Country Music Hall of Fame is that it touches everything it takes on country when it comes to Americana, when it comes to certainly the historical part and the legacy of it, it just has so much dynamic to it. That's certainly how I love getting lost at the Country Music Hall of Fame walking through it me.

Speaker 2: Too, And this will be a fun night because we get to see how country music made its way down to Muscle Shoals and the country music that was recorded down there.

Speaker 1: Now have you spend any time in Muscle Shoals.

Speaker 2: I have, Yes, I've toured the different studios down there in Muscle Shoals, and I have family in Birmingham, Alabama, so it's definitely a town I've passed through many times.

Speaker 1: So, since we are talking concerts coming through Music City and there's so many of them, and since taking a walk Nashville will cover certainly the wide breadth of music that is in Nashville, I wanted to ask you, first of all, before we look at some particular dates and artists playing, what are some of your favorite venues in Nashville.

Speaker 2: In Music City there's so many great music venues. The Ryman is one. Margo Price is playing there in November. We have the listening room the Bluebird Cafe if you can get a ticket. But everywhere you go in Nashville there's always music playing. East Nashville there's some great music venues too, and there's a brand new music venue in Nashville called the Pinnacle and that was opened in February of this year, and Paul McCartney is playing at the Pinnacle this November, so that's another great concert for people to go to.

Speaker 1: Wow, that's amazing, and I'm sure there's even room for other places to develop as well. Let's go back to the Ryman and well, first of all, when we first met, we took a walk up to the Ryman and recorded our episode there. But the Ryman remains, certainly for me one of my favorite places in you know, knowing that Margot Price is coming through sounds like a pretty exciting take coming up in November. I would guess that's a pretty hot ticket.

Speaker 2: Yeah, that's coming up on November twentieth, Great Americana lineup. Besides Margot Price, it looks like Rattlesnake Milk Texas Band is opening up for her, so that'll definitely be a popular show to attend.

Speaker 1: How about East Nashville in terms of venues, There's a place that I got to visit one time that from the outside you would be scratching your head about what's going on inside there, But when you get inside, and I'm talking about the Basement, it's a pretty it's a pretty amazing venue. What's your take on the Basement.

Speaker 2: Yeah, so we have the Basement on Eighth Avenue, which is the smaller version, and then the Basement East and East Nashville. It's like the bigger venue of the Basement. But they I've had some flooding issues and tornado damage when we had a tornado here a few years ago, so they rebuilt since and I've been to many concerts there. That's a great venue, and it looks like Thomas Dolby is playing there this November as.

Speaker 1: Well, which when I saw that, I was like, wait a minute, I didn't know he was still out touring now. Thomas Dolby had this song called she Blinded Me by Science as it was the hook. But I found it so interesting that of all people and of all places, Thomas Dolby bringing an act on the road and he's playing in Nashville.

Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, that should be a fun show to go to. I'm not sure if he's released new music in a while, but maybe he will for this tour.

Speaker 1: Well. Like some artists when they repertoire is a little shorter, they play the hit twice.

Speaker 1: No, So as a singer songwriter, you see venues a little bit differently to go out and play at. So what are some of your favorites as an artist going out to play at.

Speaker 2: I definitely love the listening room. I'm playing there shortly, and what's fun about the listening room and that kind of venue is you know, people are quiet and they're actually listening to the songs being played. But it's more of a songwriter venue, So it's about three or four songwriters what they call in the round, and each songwriter will take a turn sharing their story of how they wrote the song and then play a song and they just go around. So that's always my favorite format of show to play.

Speaker 1: Well, I want to just throw out something to the members of the listening audience that might be from the musician community. If you're going out and you want us to publicize your your gig that's coming up in the near future, certainly you can get a hold of us and we're happy to give you a little little props and a little publicity there to support Music City and to support the music community. So the goal of doing this concert calendar is not only to highlight folks like Margot Price and acts like Paul McCartney who don't necessarily need our support, but we are so pro artist and pro musician that anybody that's out there that maybe wants us to put in a word happy to do that. I hope, Sarah, we've opened up the floodgates by doing this. How's that.

Speaker 2: I think that's a great point, Buzz, especially because you know, it's great that we have so many events and concerts happening happening constantly here in Nashville, but when there's so many shows going on at once, sometimes it's hard to break through the noise or sell tickets or get people to show up. So anyway we can help to promote shows and get people to show up, we would love to help.

Speaker 2: I've been a part of an upcoming documentary. It's been in the works for probably a year and a half now, but it's finally happening. We've already done some filming for it. It includes myself and Nashville artist Wendy Molten and Judy Pastor and Texas artist Delaney Ann. And it just takes a look in the life of what it's like to be a female in the music industry and maybe struggles we go through or what it's like for us on the road as more of an independent singer songwriter. So I'm really excited for people to see this documentary. And we are about to do a run of shows in Tennessee and Texas. We're performing at the Listening Room. We're doing a benefit show with Strings for Hope, a wonderful, wonderful organization that supports female survivors of interpersonal violence. So we're just really excited to come together and perform together this week.
