00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. 00:00:04 Speaker 2: Final hour in this Wednesday, been a fun show the first two hours. In case you're just joining us, you missed all the fun eight seven to seven three DP. Show operator Tyler's sitting by. Take your phone calls. Have a new poll question for the final hour of the program, and we'll hear from the various general managers who have pressing questions put in front of them by the reporters at the combine that'll be coming up in a moment. The gang's all here, Fritzy Seaton, Mark Paula, yours truly, and of course the backroom guys Brooks, Koepka and the PGA Tour. They're headed to Florida the Bear Trap at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches. That'll be Saturday and Sunday at three eastern on NBC and Peacock. 00:00:48 Speaker 3: All right, Seaton. 00:00:49 Speaker 2: Poll question for the final hour of the program is going to be, well, are you cognizant of that Cognisant? 00:00:54 Speaker 4: Yeah, we have a new one for you. Let me wrap up this other one more annoying sound and sports. It's a tinny rim in basketball or a metal bat and baseball. This is at a sixty forty split, with that tinny rim being the most annoying thing. 00:01:09 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:01:09 Speaker 2: I had to turn off the Texas Tech Cincinnati game last night, and Texas Tech's got a guy who can fill it up. We saw that last night, but Cincinnati was clanging. Who's the guy from Texas Tech. 00:01:24 Speaker 5: Christian Anderson, sophomore guard. 00:01:26 Speaker 3: Yeah, and what do you have? 00:01:27 Speaker 5: Like thirty one or yeah, thirty one, eleven and seven man red Raider. 00:01:31 Speaker 3: I like it, sorry, dan By. 00:01:32 Speaker 4: For the US lay people, fill it up means you score, Oh you score that, you fill it up. For those of us that didn't play. 00:01:41 Speaker 6: Yeah, yes, they call him Hens or Hans Christian anders Thank you, Todd. 00:01:47 Speaker 3: It's a very deep cut, but thank you, thank you for contributing. 00:01:51 Speaker 7: What's the thought? 00:01:52 Speaker 4: All right? 00:01:52 Speaker 3: What else do you have, Seaton? We've got up. There was Hans Christian Anderson, some kind of. 00:02:00 Speaker 5: Christmas fictional character in one of those books. 00:02:03 Speaker 3: Didn't he like skate across the you know, he was. 00:02:07 Speaker 6: Just started with some fictitional person like Christmas time. 00:02:10 Speaker 5: Hans Kristin andersonn not hands hands. He the Danish author dan He the Emperor's new Clothes, the Little Mermaid, the Nightingale, the Red Shoes, et cetera. 00:02:20 Speaker 2: Oh, I thought he was he skated across the frozen tundra or something. 00:02:27 Speaker 4: That's hands. That's his brother, hansy. I mean, who knew that Hamlet had a brother named Hamnet? Did you guys realize that that's not true? 00:02:39 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:02:40 Speaker 2: No, I think it's true. There's a movie called Hamnet that's out now. In fact, the woman who's gonna be the Oscar winner for Best Actress is going is in that movie, and it's called Hamnet. 00:02:52 Speaker 3: So they called there was Hamlet and Hamnet. 00:02:55 Speaker 5: Yes, Pauline Hamnet is the son of Bill Shakespeare and wife Agnes. And I don't want to spoil anything, okay, I want to tell what happens. 00:03:02 Speaker 2: It probably doesn't go well for Hamnet, little ham Yeah. But so there was Hamlet and Hamnet. They were brothers, right, both real people. 00:03:12 Speaker 3: Yes? 00:03:12 Speaker 5: I think Hamnet's the sun. 00:03:14 Speaker 3: Okay, But is Hamlet? 00:03:17 Speaker 8: Wait? 00:03:17 Speaker 3: Was he just a fictitious character? 00:03:22 Speaker 5: I think so? 00:03:23 Speaker 4: I'm seeing here that Shakespeare's Hamlet not a real person, but a fictionalized character based on uh somebody else. 00:03:33 Speaker 2: Okay, so maybe maybe another person Hamlet is based off of Hamnet. 00:03:38 Speaker 4: Some Dutch person I'm seeing. 00:03:39 Speaker 3: Here Hans Christian Anderson. 00:03:41 Speaker 6: Well, yes, Todd and a fictional character actually have a real brother. 00:03:45 Speaker 3: Probably not right. If you're a fictional person, you kind of have a real anything. 00:03:49 Speaker 2: Anything else that you'd like to add, Seaton, Yes, as a matter of fact, there is this one's here from Paul More our most awkward situation. 00:04:00 Speaker 4: M They've got four options here, but these are up for review. The Raiders and Max Crosby awkward, Cardinals and Kyler Murray awkward, Tua and the Dolphins, And the other option here is JJ McCarthy and your Minnesota Vikings. Those are all tricky situations right there. The awkward part. 00:04:30 Speaker 2: I think the Vikings trying to figure out you bring somebody in and have some competition, which I think they need to do. For JJ McCarthy, did the Dolphins just hold on to Tua because he's so expensive and maybe this is just a gap year where you go. 00:04:46 Speaker 3: All right, Kyler. 00:04:48 Speaker 2: They got to get their story straight of did Kyler talk to the GM or not to you know, or vice versa, because Kyler said he didn't talk to Monte osen Fort. Here's the Cardinals GM on his quarterbacking situation. 00:05:04 Speaker 9: You know, here's what I would say, is I've said before, I'd say all options are on the table for us. Okay, we got Kyler, Jacoby Keaton all under contract. As it pertains to that position, as it pertains to every position on our team, We're going to look at every avenue to improve and we're going to continue and go through our process with that. 00:05:24 Speaker 3: Okay, that sounds like a mess. 00:05:27 Speaker 2: It sounds like you don't have a quarterback because you would like for your GM to say, oh, we have our franchise quarterback and Kyler Murray, but you don't. I don't think he plays with Arizona. And I think it feels like the Cardinals are trying to create some kind of market where, man, you better, you better come in and give us a great offer for Kyler Murray. You got three quarterbacks, you don't have one quarterback, guest, Hud. 00:05:51 Speaker 6: It's also a lot of words of saying nothing, and I, for one, you can appreciate saying a lot of words and nothing really of substance. 00:05:57 Speaker 2: But this is what your goal is if you're a GM. All right, we have to speak to the media. It's the combine and you're going to get the questions. You know what the questions are. It's like, you know, the Raiders. GM is a John spytech. He knows he's going to be asked about Max Crosby and Fernando Mendoza. 00:06:18 Speaker 10: Max is an elite player. And I've been very upfront from the from the start when I got here that you know, we're we're in the business of having really good players on the team and we need we. 00:06:27 Speaker 3: Need a lot more of them. 00:06:28 Speaker 10: And you know, it's hard to build a great team without elite players. 00:06:31 Speaker 11: The first picking the draft, teams are bound to come calling you, guys, feel like the need to answer those calls and listen to. 00:06:37 Speaker 3: Offers a lot. I learned a long time ago. 00:06:39 Speaker 10: Always listen. I'm always listening. 00:06:41 Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, you listen, and you love Max Crosby and every team wants to have a player like that. 00:06:48 Speaker 4: Uh. 00:06:50 Speaker 2: Why was Max Crosby held out of the last two games of the regular season, That's what I want to know. 00:06:56 Speaker 3: He didn't want to be held out, So to. 00:06:59 Speaker 2: Me, the Raiders were ensuring they were going to get the number one pick in the draft. They tanked right in front of everybody. 00:07:06 Speaker 3: Yes time. 00:07:07 Speaker 5: I think that decision was done with love. 00:07:08 Speaker 6: You know they're playing terribly. 00:07:10 Speaker 5: Why I have him out there for meaningless games? 00:07:12 Speaker 2: Yeah, but he wanted to be out there, and that's part of the reason there's you know, discourse here or disconnect because that's when he said, I've played my last game here, and if I'm the Raiders, I trade him. Let's build around your quarterback. I don't care if you have a great edge rusher, if you don't have an offensive line, you're gonna do damage to that quarterback. And Max Crosby is great. He's one of my favorite players. He plays hard all the time, and he's twenty eight years of age and he's under contract making over thirty million dollars the next two years. I would trade him because you're not ready to have Max Crosby help you win games until that quarterback is ready with that offensive line, you're doing a disservice toier team because it won't matter. But if I could get you know, another first round pick, a second round pick for Max Crosby, I would do that. It's like the Bengals with Trey Hendrickson. I would have traded him. Now they probably thought we're a playoff team. They did have injuries, but you know, he's thirty years of age. Max Crosby is twenty eight. He's going to want another contract here and I would definitely trade him as much as I would miss him. You're not doing anything for the next two years. Then you have the Dolphins situation. John Eric Sullivan is the new Dolphin's general manager and talked about the possibility of trading Tua. 00:08:45 Speaker 11: We've had conversations with Tua and his representation. Everything's on the table, including the potential of a trade. 00:08:53 Speaker 3: We don't know which way that's going to go. 00:08:55 Speaker 11: There's a lot of different factors that play, a lot of conversations being had evaluating the roster. You know, Quin did a nice job towards the end of the year, excited about what's ahead for him. You know too, I thought, even though things didn't go well at the end of the year, did did some good things along the way, and it's my job to infuse competition into that room along with every other. 00:09:17 Speaker 5: Room as we go down the road. 00:09:19 Speaker 3: Okay, that's a word salad. 00:09:22 Speaker 4: Yeah, See that reminds me of hearing that clip different sport, but in the NBA Gosh, who is it? Who's the the GM of the Charlotte Hornets. God, I'm blanking on the name. What is it, Dan? You know, not Mitch cup Check? Dan, that's closer to you. Got to hit you in the nuts right now, but I can't a cup check. Yeah sorry, yeah, long way for that joking. I felt like it was worth it just to get a nut joke in there. 00:09:52 Speaker 3: Thank you, Tod. 00:09:55 Speaker 4: Who is that the GM Charlotte Hornets? Oh, Mitch cup check. It's still one of the more incredible moments. I can't say of my career, but it's one of the most incredible stories of my life. We're at the Super Bowl in New Orleans and I'm with Sean Saulisbury and he would always say, oh, who is the Laker GM? 00:10:21 Speaker 2: And then you go, well, Mitch cup check and then he would hit you right in the nuts. 00:10:26 Speaker 3: Yes. 00:10:28 Speaker 2: So he would always be saying, and he would walk up to somebody, unassuming it worked at ESPN, go who was the Laker GM, and they'd go, oh, Mitch cup check boom, and he hit them right right in the nuts. So we're at the super Bowl in New Orleans. I think it was the Patriots we're playing in the Super Bowl, and lo and behold, Mitch Cupcheck walks into this bar. 00:10:52 Speaker 3: It was Pat O'Brien's bar. 00:10:55 Speaker 2: So we're outside and I go, Sean, guess who just walked in Mitch cup Check. Now he thought I was going to hit him below the belt, and I was being honestly said, Mitch cup Check just walked through the door. And I said, you have to walk up to him and say who is the Laker GM? And then you have to Mitch cup Check. Mitch cup Check and Deshaun's credit. He walked up to Mitch cup Check and asking him. He was like, who who is the Laker GM? 00:11:31 Speaker 3: That you know? 00:11:33 Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, you know, he goes h Mitch cup Check boom, and I go, oh my god, you just hit him in the nuts, Mitch cup Check. 00:11:47 Speaker 4: I just could I have been waiting for like eleven minutes, so like I got the best joke right now. 00:11:53 Speaker 2: Laker GM, Mitch, Mitch. 00:11:56 Speaker 4: And then you would have like those knuckles right take that tap yeah, and you would have these you know PA's. You know, these guys would be like Mitch Cupcheck like they wanted to know the answer. Mitch cupcheck, Mitch cupcheck, of course, and then Sean with his big paws, would you know, smack him and they go, wait, what just happened here? Hr would like to talk to you, Sean, Mitch, Mitch, Mitch cup check, cop. 00:12:25 Speaker 3: Check, boom. 00:12:28 Speaker 2: We were easily entertained. Back then, Uh, back to the combine here. Omar Khan is the Steeler GA and he was asked about Aaron Rodgers. 00:12:41 Speaker 12: The doors open and have Aaron back. You know, we've I've had conversations with him. I spoke to him last week. Uh, you know, Mike McCarthy spoke to him and uh, you know, he knows how we feel about him. And you know, right now we're proceeding. You know, he's not he's a free agent and he's not on the roster, so but he knows how we feel about him. 00:12:59 Speaker 2: Okay, it feels like they're taking Ty Simpson. I think most people think that the Steelers will I'm not going to say reach, but now they're going to go get a quarterback here in the first round. Now they might bring back Aaron Rodgers. And of course we're going to have to let this play out all summer long. Is he coming back? Not coming back, coming back, not coming back. The quarterback i'd like to be is Malik Willis, because I think Willis is going to get a one of those three year, one hundred million dollar deals, and maybe he gets the chance to start right away, maybe gets to go to Miami and start. Maybe Pittsburgh brings him in. And he's obviously a more proven commodity than Ty Simpson. And he's twenty six years of age. 00:13:48 Speaker 1: Now. 00:13:49 Speaker 2: He got kicked to the curb early by Tennessee because then they went in and drafted the kid out of Kentucky. 00:13:57 Speaker 5: Will Levis. 00:13:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, that didn't go well. Will leave us, Yeah, we'll leave us soon. Yes, Well, he didn't look like a quarterback. He was like, man, Now, that's that's how a quarterback loows like c W quarterback. Yes, he just didn't play like a quarterback. Should he look like one? Yeah, Paul. 00:14:13 Speaker 5: In two years with Green Bay, Malik Willis has three starts, six touchdowns, no picks, and he ran very well. 00:14:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I don't know if this is a Jimmy garoppolo. When you know, Brady was out and he stepped in, played three games, and all of a sudden, everybody wanted Jimmy Garoppolo. But I like Malik Willis. I think he's I think he's the starter in the league. Kyler Murray, you know you're gonna I don't want Kyler Murray, but if anybody's gonna take him, I want Kyler Murray on asterturf. You know, I want him playing indoors and maybe maybe you could get to him, but you know he's made money. He made his money, and you wonder what is his motivation. With certain players, football comes easy, easier, and now the hard part when you're not the best player on the field, you're not the best quarterback on the field, and now you got to put in the work. And I don't know if he's willing to put in the work. And you're expensive, because if he was all of these things, then Arizona would keep him. Everybody's looking for their franchise quarterback, and if you feel like he is your franchise quarterback, then you don't let him go. 00:15:29 Speaker 3: But they know he's not their future. 00:15:31 Speaker 7: Yes, Marvin, what about Malik Willis to the Vikings? Can you see that or are they still holding out hope on JJ McCarthy. 00:15:40 Speaker 2: I would not be holding out hope on JJ McCarthy because now you find out that they took away the middle of the field throws for him. I mean, come on, you got a great arm. I'm going to take away the middle of the field. They had to probably reduce the pl l A book a little bit here he was throwing out to the numbers. 00:16:04 Speaker 4: That's not a good sign at less. Yes, no, we believe in you. We believe in it, just just don't throw it over the middle here, not in this general area. 00:16:14 Speaker 2: So that would be a big concern. I got a quarterback and he wasn't ready to play. And look, okay, everybody can revision his history and say, boy, they're stupid to move on from Sam Donald or Danny Dimes. Seattle didn't want Sam Donald. They were like, why do why are we bringing in Sam Darnald? We got Geno Smith, you know, and then you bring him in he wins the Super Bowl. Now the play the Sam Donald game of who's the Sam Donald for this year coming up? But at the time we were like, yeah, big games, and he played horribly and they decided to move on. Danny Dimes same thing. When he played well with the Colts, They're like, man, they let him go. They let Sam Donald go. JJ McCarthy just never felt like he was ready and it couldn't stay healthy. You bring in Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins is better than Michael Pennix Junior the third. Look at his numbers the last four games. He had a couple of big wins, didn't He beat Seattle and beat Tampa. And he's healthier than Michael Pennix. Now, granted he's thirty four, but you spend one hundred million dollars on him and now you're going to kick him to the curb. All right, let me take a break, talk a little bit more about this and more of your phone calls as well. 00:17:34 Speaker 3: Back after this and The Dan Patrick Show. 00:17:37 Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. 00:17:46 Speaker 3: Hey is Cabino and Rit from Fox Sports Radio. 00:17:49 Speaker 1: Now. 00:17:49 Speaker 3: In addition to hearing. 00:17:50 Speaker 13: Us live weekdays from five to seven pm Eastern two to four Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, We're excited to announce a brand new YouTube channel for the show. Check us out on YouTube, subscribe, hit that thumbs up icon, comment away. 00:18:16 Speaker 2: The Cowboys and their kicker, Brandon Aubrey are agreeing on one thing. If you can change games, then you should be able to change the pay scale for kickers. Right now, the market sits at just under six and a half million dollars per year. That's the top of the market, but that number is probably not going to survive. Brandon Aubrey is up for a new contract, and it's sort of like with Steph Curry. When he gets over half court, he's in scoring range. When Brandon Aubrey gets to the fifty yard line, he's in scoring range, if not further back. And this alters play calling, it changes strategy, forces, you know, defenses to defend differently, and three points are no longer hopeful, they're expected with some of these placekickers. So Brandon Aubrey is going to get paid. He's a weapon and not just a luxury. He truly is a weapon. But we're going to find out how much that luxury is going to cost. The Dallas Cowboys, and of course they're going to drag this out. It'll be you know, because Dallas does this. This is what Jerry does. He doesn't make a decision. It's never a decision where you go, oh, I'm going to make up my mind right now. And you know, I started to hear a little bit more about the Cowboys with Michaeh Parsons, that whole situation and how it kind of went off the rails, and you start to hear some of the inside information from a source that I trust, and he was Michaeh Parsons wasn't necessarily well liked. In fact, you know, there was kind of a prevalent feeling of he wants to be a star, he wants to be bigger than just being a football player. Had the podcast like certain things where you go, let's focus on just being great as a football player, and there felt like there was a real falling out with the locker room with Michael Parsons. And you know, there were a couple of teams. What I found out, there were teams that didn't know that the Cowboys were being truthful about wanting to trade him, and then they realized, oh, they're really going to trade him, and that's when you started, you know that. I think people were like, oh, we'll give you, and then all of a sudden, it was almost like the market was set. Two first round picks and you know, one of your star defensive linemen, and the Packers came up with that. But I don't I don't think that there's any oh my gosh, we don't have Micaeh Parsons. 00:20:49 Speaker 3: I don't. 00:20:49 Speaker 2: I don't get that feeling, certainly from the source that I have, that there's any you know, buyer's remorse or trader's remorse with Michael Parsons. It's like, Okay, he's in Green Bay. They overspent for him, will be a better team, you know, because they got Quinn Williams, which a really really good pickup. Now, do they need an edge rusher, yes they do, but Quinn Williams was a great pick up there. 00:21:16 Speaker 3: Yes, Marv. 00:21:17 Speaker 7: Do you think maybe this might be a thing for all pro sports guys building their brand before they win championships and become all pros and all Teimer's Yes, okay. 00:21:27 Speaker 2: Yes, And Micah Parsons was off to a Hall of Fame start. It's just I don't know if that's one of those, we can't afford to lose him. The sense I got once again was the Cowboys were fine with moving on, better than fine with moving on. 00:21:48 Speaker 3: Yes, we lost him. 00:21:49 Speaker 2: We got two draft picks, Kenny Clark, Quinn Williams. You know, now we might be a better team and spend that money. Now you got George Pickens. Do you think George Pickens, how's he gonna feel? He had one of those. He proved it years, he had fourteen hundred yards. He proved it after coming in from Pittsburgh, and we all said, man, I don't know if I would take a chance on him. Well he came in and played great. Now they're gonna franchise him. How do you think that's gonna go over? He's gonna play on the franchise tag. Now I got to prove myself again. Yes, Marvin, they should talk to Cede Lamb because he was on the show. He said he would, he would, he would give up some money in his contract. Also, I mentioned the win totals the over under. I don't remember a season, and we tried to do some research with the seventeen game schedule, ten teams over under. 00:22:48 Speaker 3: Ten and a half. 00:22:51 Speaker 2: Now it feels like in previous years you might have somebody at eleven and a half, But ten teams at ten and a half wins over under. And I mean I can look at the Niners and I mean what they did this year with Kyle Shanahan. I mean, that's Coach of the Year stuff. The Seahawks after the Super Bowl hangover ten and a half wins, the Chiefs when they have six wins last year, ten and a half wins, Chargers ten and a half, Rams ten and a half, Eagles ten and a half, Ravens ten and a half, Bills ten and a half, Lions ten and a half, Packers ten and a half. They love parody, but this seems to be a Penthouse version of parody. Like you have everybody who's kind of you know, on floor four, five and six, or maybe it's seven, eight and nine, And then you get these other teams with ten and a half wins, and maybe it's almost a three tiered parody. You got five teams that are bad, you got a lot of teams that are really good, are good, and then you have ten that have the potential to be really good. But ten teams at ten and a half wins over under. 00:24:09 Speaker 5: Yes, Paul, I went back to last August and found the over unders right before the season started. The Chiefs, the Ravens, and the Eagles were at eleven and a half wins. The over unders and the Bills were at twelve and a half wins. 00:24:21 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we didn't have any of that with eleven or twelve. But you got a lot of teams who are But what happens every year, there's going to be four teams that come in and four teams that drop out. Nobody had the Lions not making the playoffs last year. Nobody had the Chiefs not well, Seaton had the Chiefs not making the playoffs last year. 00:24:42 Speaker 4: That's not a bad call. 00:24:43 Speaker 2: That was that was that was a hot take draft and that one stood out. 00:24:49 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:24:49 Speaker 2: But yeah, you start to look at the season, and you know, you got to look at the schedules as well. Now that's factored into all of this. Somebody's going to have an easier schedule. A couple of teams are The other thing I'm curious about is Deshaun Watson, and that is the football player. And I've tried to focus on just Deshaun Watson, the football player the other stuff. He should have been put in prison, but all Right bought his way out of it. He's still on the team, he's still under contract. But it's been six years since he was good. If you go back, I think it was twenty twenty maybe the last time he was good. But he's better than the quarterbacks they have there. He should be better than the quarterbacks they have there. So your dilemma is do you play him. You're going to try to develop Shdor Sanders, okay, Dylan Gabriel okay, but Deshaun Watson can give you at least a quarterback defenses are going to respect and the fact that he's been great, but I'm paying him forty five million dollars. You've already gotten passed the why did you bring that guy in? So put him out there and let him play. Because Shador is not ready to play and Dylan Gabriel not ready to play. It doesn't mean they can't play. It's just everybody gets caught up on Dion Sanders and his son, and it's not going to be fair to Shador because he's not going to be able to live up to what people expect. I think he was a really good college quarterback and he's got to learn how to be an NFL quarterback. And Dylan Gabriel and maybe this is as good as they're going to be. But I've seen Deshaun Watson play at a high level. And if I'm the Browns, I open the door and say, come on in, come on in and play. Let me see what you got. And then if you want to get rid of him after that, get rid of him. But you've kept him on the roster and he's making all that money, I would definitely give him a shot. 00:26:54 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:26:54 Speaker 5: Pauli, the GM was asked about it. He was very noncommittal. We said, we want to compete at the quarterback position with everybody, one of those things. But if he's cleared to practice and he suits up on a game day and the other quarterbacks are playing poorly, he's standing on the sidelines making forty five million, that's an awkward visual, and they lead the league an awkward visual. 00:27:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean he went all in on this guy. He settled all of his lawsuits. I would say, you want to come out and you want to win this job. Now, he might not want to play. I don't know. Maybe he's like, hey, I'm okay, my money's guaranteed, but like, if you want to start to turn it around a little bit public perception. Now, I don't know if he can, but you know, at least the football portion of this, you got your opportunity. I think he was a healthy scratch back in December, Paully wouldn't he. 00:27:49 Speaker 5: Well, they said he was cleared for like football activities, okay, Toshaun Watson, and there's mixed reports on how much he practiced. 00:27:58 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:27:58 Speaker 2: I don't know if he wants to play, but I mean that that's certainly the pressing question. You gotta get your quarterback now that if they turn it over to Shadoor Sanders, okay, you know you gotta have confidence in him. Put him out there, let him go from day one to your team go. Not one of those oh we're gonna put in Dylan Gabriel. We're gonna, you know, put him in. Let him go sink or swim go instead of this stop start stop start, stop start, because that doesn't work. It's like JJ McCarthy. I would never have put him in this position. I didn't think he's ready. And I go back to Michigan and I even said it. You know, they won the national title due to defense and running the football and a great head coach and maybe a spy on the sidelines. But it wasn't because of JJ McCarthy. But that didn't mean, Okay, we're not going to rely on our quarterback to win a national title. 00:28:57 Speaker 3: Maybe they didn't need to. 00:28:59 Speaker 2: But you know, all of a sudden, you're like playing in a big game, big completions, and then all of a sudden you're you know, top ten pick. Then you get rid of quarterbacks, and now you saying, all right, go get him, and then he couldn't stay healthy. But even watching and then you know what was told to me is if you take away throws in the middle of the field, it says you're not ready yet. Then it doesn't mean that he won't. But then I wonder he gets one more year, right, and then vikings move on. That's how it works, and give you three years. Then we move on because you don't want to give him a big contract. But maybe he gets that opportunity. And look, Kevin's a great coach and an offensive minded coach, quarterback coach. 00:29:51 Speaker 3: All right, you got your work cut out for you. 00:29:53 Speaker 2: Now let me see what you can do, because it feels like that team does have weapons, they have a pretty good defense. You're in a really competit a division here, Yes, Marvin. 00:30:03 Speaker 7: Yeah, the pressure was on already, and then sam Donold leaves and then wins the Super Bowl the next year. Yeah, so the pressure is even more so on you now than it was before. 00:30:11 Speaker 3: Chris and Syracuse. Hi Chris, what's on your mind today? 00:30:14 Speaker 8: Thanks Dan, thanks forgetting me and hey, I comment on pat Riley and you guys were talking about Daniel Jones and the Vikings. I remember when Ross Tucker he was on the Dan Packers Show, and he's the only one I ever heard say this, and I'm assuming it's true. He said that the Vikings outdid the Colts for Daniel Jones. He didn't want to stay. That was just great. 00:30:36 Speaker 2: Well, I think he knew that he might not start, and he knew he had a chance to beat out Anthony Richardson with the Colts. 00:30:43 Speaker 8: And the Vikings were going to try to force feed JJ McCarthy for sure. Yeah, you're right, And like pat Riley, I'm sure down the road, Bill Jackson will also get a statue from the Lakers. Now, Pat Riley had Kareem and Magic Dyll had Shack and Colby both had strong connections with other organizations heat balls. Now, Riley did win a title with the Lakers as a player in seventy two, and Phil won a title by beating the Lakers in seventy three, but as a coach for the Lakers still won five championships, adging out Riley by one. And maybe it's just as simple that pat Riley coached before Phil Jackson. But I just wonder what criteria the Lakers used to make pat Riley the first coach in Lakers history to have a statue. 00:31:26 Speaker 2: Well, because he did it before Phil did. And you know, he was a Laker broadcaster, he was a Laker player, and you felt like it was more deep rooted in him as one of us where Phil came in after being with Mike. Trust me, I don't know if Phil Jackson is going to go, where's my statue? I don't know if that's high on his priority list. Did the Bulls give Phil a statue? No, they should give him a statue. I'm not big on statues, I'm not, but you know the Jordan one outside Chicago Stadium. You know, it's great, it is, but you know these statues where all right, you want to have one with Ryle's there, and yeah, okay, I mean we're kind of turning into Italy where you know, when you're in Italy there's all kinds of statues around you, you know, you know, centuries ago. Maybe that's what we're gonna one day turn into. Right, there's going to be that statue and that statue and that statue, and hey there's the David yes Ton. 00:32:39 Speaker 6: That athlete statues are more fun than gladiators or empress statues was to me. I don't mind a guy holding a baseball bat or you know, throwing a touchdown pass kind of shot. 00:32:47 Speaker 2: I like the gladiator. Those guys were really warriors. They were really in battle. It was life or death. We use all those terms with our athletes. Yes, did I mishear that? 00:32:58 Speaker 4: Or Michael Jordan doesn't have a stat you no, Phil Jackson, Oh, Phil jack. 00:33:02 Speaker 5: Yeah, Mike's got two. I think, yeah, what four? 00:33:06 Speaker 2: Yeah, they got they got one for the first three titles, and then he got another statue. 00:33:10 Speaker 4: So to tear down the whole city block and remake the stadium into his image. 00:33:14 Speaker 5: There's a four statue, he's at a craps table. 00:33:16 Speaker 3: What the WHOA? 00:33:17 Speaker 2: I'm just saying they got a statue of him playing baseball too. What Yeah, I think at Kamiski Park or US Cellular, whatever the name of it is. 00:33:28 Speaker 5: Yes, the most unexpected sports statue of all time has to be Nick Falls Doug Peterson. If you would have said, hey, there's going to be a statue the Philadelphia Eagles longtime team. And it's a great play and a great moment. But two guys discussing a play call is a statue's But it's a it is the moment and it did it wasn't. 00:33:48 Speaker 3: We don't need a statue. 00:33:50 Speaker 5: It's two guys talking, We don't. We don't need a statue of the headset up? 00:33:53 Speaker 2: Yes, like did Bill Walsh and Joe Montana before Joe went out there and you know, threw a touchdown pass. 00:34:02 Speaker 4: Yes see, I'm a I'm not a statue guy either either, and mostly because putting the statue up and how good that feels pales in comparison to how awful it is when you have to take it down for some reason. That is just not the way to do it. 00:34:22 Speaker 2: I mean, Penn State put up the Joe, Paul and everybody you know, of course Joe Concerno. 00:34:30 Speaker 3: I just I'm not big on the statue, not big on the statue. 00:34:33 Speaker 2: So if you guys are thinking of doing that for me, I would tell you don't. 00:34:38 Speaker 5: So cancel it. Yeah, we can get our deposit back. 00:34:41 Speaker 3: Yes, right on the Milford Green. Are you kidding me? 00:34:43 Speaker 2: No, it'd be right outside here, right outside, right out there. 00:34:47 Speaker 3: And I would prefer to be draped in a. 00:34:50 Speaker 2: Towel and only that that's hot. 00:34:53 Speaker 5: Yes, I was wondering what that pose would be. 00:34:55 Speaker 6: How would you envision your statue to look? 00:34:58 Speaker 4: It's been a minute since back in the attic days, we used to see in a towel a little bit here and there. 00:35:02 Speaker 3: You used to come scurrying out of that bathroom. They're like, whoa, Yeah, he's putting on a show right now. You know, he's trying to keep morale. 00:35:10 Speaker 4: Let's bring it back. 00:35:12 Speaker 2: How about we take a break, last call for phone calls. What we learned? You get one vote, all right. 00:36:22 Speaker 3: Todd, I am definitely going with Bill Collins. Okay, Satan good grief. 00:36:30 Speaker 4: Uh I'm gonna say, Mariah Carrey, Marvin. 00:36:36 Speaker 3: Say New Edition mm hmm, Paul. 00:36:43 Speaker 5: Believe or not. I'm gonna go. Billy Idol Older had a lot of hits and was very popular. 00:36:49 Speaker 3: White wedding. 00:36:52 Speaker 5: Uh more for his age. 00:36:54 Speaker 3: See it's tricky. 00:36:55 Speaker 2: When you talk about the rock and roll Hall of Fame and there's nothing rock and roll about Mariah Carey. 00:37:00 Speaker 4: Is like, arguably the greatest female artist of all time. 00:37:03 Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's you know, this is just the Music Hall of Fame. I mean that's really what they need to call it, the Music Hall of Fame. It's just the rock and roll. 00:37:11 Speaker 4: Hall of Fame. I'm going Iron Maiden all day. 00:37:13 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:37:13 Speaker 2: I mean, if you're going true rock and roll, then it's different. But I would say Mariah Carey, I mean, the most decorated female singer, one of the most decorated musicians of. 00:37:24 Speaker 4: All time, maybe the best voice of all time. 00:37:26 Speaker 3: She's got five octaves? Yeah yeah, can you. 00:37:29 Speaker 4: Hit a E high over triple C or whatever the hell it is? Like what. 00:37:34 Speaker 2: Phil Collins not in good shape, got health issues. I don't know if that factors in with the voting on this. Black Crows are pretty impressive. Shakira, Shakira, Shade, Pink, Oasis might be Oasis year with the big comeback here Wu Tang Clan a lot of influence there. Lauren Hill could have been, She could have been. She's She's one of those that had a great rookie Year's Deck Grove Yes and then you know broke her ankle. 00:38:12 Speaker 3: Uh. But yeah, I mean they're they're all worthy. It's just. 00:38:19 Speaker 2: When you hear rock and roll Hall of Fame. I did see the Jeff Buckley documentary. If you get a chance to see that, really well done. 00:38:27 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:38:27 Speaker 4: Did you see the Hugh Jackman movie about It's not a Neil Diamond movie, but it's he plays that Neil Diamond character. You might have actually mentioned it before. That was really good. I thought that was fun. 00:38:39 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:38:40 Speaker 2: And when I'm watching, I said to my wife, Kate Hudson's gonna get nominated for this. 00:38:44 Speaker 4: I thought she did a really good job. She was great. Yeah, that was a fun movie though. I really enjoyed it a lot. 00:38:50 Speaker 3: Uh. 00:38:50 Speaker 4: And I just watched the Bruce Benstein movie the with the Jeremy Allen. 00:38:54 Speaker 3: White Deliver Me from Nowhere or something. 00:38:57 Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I've actually seen that twice now. It's really good. I actually like it. 00:39:02 Speaker 3: I watched ten minutes. Couldn't do it. 00:39:04 Speaker 4: It might be the Jersey part of me where I'm like, ok, stone pony and like everything is a Colt neck, yes whatever, all that stuff a little nostalgic maybe for me. 00:39:13 Speaker 2: Yeah, I tried that you know, my attention span very limited and even with Springsteen, and I was like, Mmm, you're losing me here. 00:39:23 Speaker 3: Yes to think, said. 00:39:26 Speaker 5: The TV at Yes, Paul Phil Collins is already in for his original band, Genesis, but he can get the double the double double whatever, because he had enough hits as a solo artist. 00:39:37 Speaker 3: Incredible. He's better on his own than Genesis. 00:39:41 Speaker 5: Whoaoa, whoa, you're gonna get some lane staying Uh. 00:39:45 Speaker 4: By the way, the Shakespeare crowd is, we're getting a heavy dose of stay in your lane from this Shakespeare contingent. 00:39:52 Speaker 3: Huge, holy smoke, brutal. 00:39:55 Speaker 2: But imagine you have Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins together in a band, right, Genesis. 00:40:02 Speaker 5: Like Kobe and Shack, and then the other guys whoever that other guy was, Yeah, his name is Mike something. 00:40:08 Speaker 2: Those two guys, yeah, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and the other guys. 00:40:15 Speaker 3: Oh, those other guys are well. 00:40:17 Speaker 2: They have three three sides live I think was an album trick of the tail. 00:40:23 Speaker 3: Was Mike Rutherford in there? Yeah that's right, Yeah, yeah, Genesis. 00:40:28 Speaker 5: Would the Eagles have more solo success than any band after they broke up. They're solo artists. After they left the Eagles, Henley Walsh. They all had big solo careers. 00:40:44 Speaker 3: Uh, Glenn Fry didn't. 00:40:46 Speaker 4: Well, he had a pretty good one. It was Timothy B. Schmidt didn't do much. Now, Timmy B. 00:40:54 Speaker 3: Timothy B. Is that right? 00:40:56 Speaker 4: Is that? 00:40:56 Speaker 3: Yeah? Timothy B. Schmidt, he played bass. 00:40:58 Speaker 4: I wanna say long hair. 00:41:00 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, great, great voice, gorgeous hair, yeah, high high octave there. Yeah, all right, I think we pretty much settled everything, and now I'll wait for the fallout of Stay in your length. 00:41:10 Speaker 4: Anybody on that list, You're absolutely not No, let's go negative. 00:41:14 Speaker 3: I'm absolutely not putting this person.
