I need to come up with a new category, a new stat It's called shots discouraged SD no t SD shots discouraged. Victor Wembanyama. I think Portland shot nineteen percent on the shots that Wembanyama contested in this series. That's where you go and you do a pick and roll and all of a sudden you think you're open, and then all of a sudden you just see him fly by or come out of nowhere. Shots do scouraged. This is kind of like hurries, you know, I talk about Max Crosby. Sack's not as important to me as hurries are, because you can hurry a variety of throws and you could, you know, out of that, you could get interceptions in completions. Now, yes, bringing the quarterback down a sack, I think we get caught up on that number as opposed to how many times are you getting near the quarterback speeding up his process? And Max Crosby is maybe the best at doing that. But with Wemby, shots discouraged. Now we did try Receiver caused Interception RCI, where the receiver is the one who caused the interception that didn't catch on. So maybe shots discouraged with Victor webben Yama. I'm letting the commissioner know, as I've let him know about a couple other things. You know, positionless positionless all NBA teams, the sixty five games minimum if you're going to qualify for postseason awards. Now, everybody loved that. You didn't have to play a particular position. The five best players are on the first team, and such and such, second and third, the sixty five games. There's been some pushback, and I'll take the blame on that because we can change the lottery, and they're changing the lottery again. Load management is the big issue, not the lottery. It's load management. I don't know if there's a solution to that. And next time we have the commissioner on I mean, I get it, you want to have teams stop tanking, but I need players who want to play. And I'll go back to Victor Windanyama. He wants to be great, he wants to be MVP. He wanted to be defensive Player of the Year. You know what he did in the offseason last year He worked out with one of our guests today, Jamal Crawford, who in the pantheon of great ball handlers in the history of the NBA. His name is in that conversation. So Wemby worked out with Jamal Crawford to work on his handle. Amazing, and he's just getting to the point where he's figuring out where to be on the court offensively, defensively, he's already there. But shots discouraged in the Portland series and you could see guys like this is where quarterbacks say that they see ghost you know, or the pocket is getting muddy, and Sam Darnold famously said that, you know, he sees ghosts in the pocket, like Wemby is a ghost. He's he's there. I'm not sure where he is, but I know he'll be here. And that's what you saw in this Portland series. It was fun, fun to watch. He is musty TV. There is no other player I'd rather watch than Wemby. Now there's other you know, when Steph is at his peak, Steph was wonderful. There's so many, you know, great players even Joe l Embiid last night. I'm all fire up this morning. I gotta slow down a little bit. I'm watching Embiid last night and it was a reminder game because I kept watching and going, okay, Boston, okay, Boston. Ok uh oh, and then the fourth quarter they were horrible. But Joe Ellenbiid, keep in mind the first two years he didn't play, had a bad back, and really his college career was spotty because of injuries. But this was supposed to be the process. Could have been a bust, and you know his career will be tricky when it's over. When we look back and you go, he he didn't win an MVP and didn't win a title, but the numbers are there, like you think he's a bum when he's averaging what twenty seven, uh, I don't know, eight and four something like that. I mean, it is a down year for him, and you could see, really he's almost hunched over on the floor. He can't jump. Still has great touch and great feel for the game. But you're watching last night and I just thought, man, I don't know how he's doing it, but when he's on the floor, he can still be a difference. Now, Philadelphia. You know, I loved me some Tyres Maaxing. I loved him coming out Edgecombe. I think is a good draft pick. Then Paul George. Paul George is fun to see. I mean, I don't want him on my team, but I you know, he does have a beautiful jump shot. But I'm watching and I go, Okay, Philly has some talent here. It's just Paul George's not Paul George. And joe El Embiid is not Joel Embiid because of injuries. But you're watching that game last night, and I love Boston to come out of the East, and I kept thinking, man, you can't have these kind of nights. And they had a horrible fourth quarter, certainly from three point range. So I'm watching a lot of the NBA last night, and boy, hey, let's go out to Seventh Avenue and take off our shirts and celebrate because we beat the Hawks.

You know who wants it. Coaches, coaches wanted, conferences want this. That's where you can brag and the Big ten can say we got nine teams in the SEC. We got all of our teams in March Madness. I just worry because these leagues they never you know, relegate, they never move the clock back. They never go let's go back to thirty two teams not happening. You know, NBA gave us the play in game. Baseball's added more playoff spots. I mean every league is adding more. Like if you can't make playoffs in hockey, it's like you should be fired. Half the league make the playoffs. The exclusivity that's attached to this is long gone, so I understand.

Give them something, don't don't make them play a play in game or the first you know whatever.

If you're going to expand, I understand this NC double A making money needs to make money. You know, you got lawsuits, nil lawsuits, like you know, they need kind of a shovel full of cash.

The NCAA labeled it. You're playing into the tournament like you're almost there. It's kind of like being invited to a party, but you have to stay on the doorstep and wait till somebody leaves and then you get to come in. But you're going to expand, but make sure we take care of the mid majors. Don't have them like picking up scraps, going ah, we get to play on Tuesday to then play on Thursday.

Speaker 3: It feels like these every league and every network is looking for more space on the calendar to place live events. And it's like the NCAA and the conferences found a loophole. We can keep the sixty four, do this funky play in game first four on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we don't upset the traditional sixty four apple cart, And hey, we can just put more games in the afternoon or at night and not really mess with everyone's tradition of sixty four.

Speaker 2: I don't know if anybody is going to be out on the streets protesting, because we'll watch it. I just I want it to be special, and maybe it's it's special proof just because we watch. There's always going to be a player, there's always going to be a team, there's always magic always, and ratings were up this year. I think that will. The one thing that we are going to lose is that Cinderella's story. It feels like I don't think Tennessee in a playing game on a Tuesday and then winning a couple of games is a Cinderella story. Cinderella's story is Wafford or Miami, Ohio. A school or schools where you don't know where they are. Well, you know, Miami is in Ohio, but then they get confused for Miami, Florida. But you know, you get these other schools and I think that's the fun part of it. You get to see a player that you never thought you would see, like you know, Steph Curry Davidson. Like that's the magic. And I hope that we always try to ensure that we have that. And do I want to have Cinderella stories. I do, And it plays out because Cinderella story. You might win two games, and think of the exposure that these schools get. You went on Thursday and you went on Saturday, then you don't play until the following week.

Speaker 5: You get all of that coverage and that is invaluable to a school.

Speaker 2: And I think that's the fun part of it, where you get some exposure, their coach gets interviewed on Sports Center, your star player. That's great, great for the smaller schools because I do think we're going to get to the point, and I said this a couple of weeks ago, that we're going to look at mid majors like junior colleges. If you're a player and you're going there for two years, is somebody interested in me that's in the SEC or the Big ten or Big twelve acc So I got two years to kind of get on the radar of some of the bigger schools. And if I was a coach, I would be viewing it as I hopefully get you for two years and then your probably going to, you know, get in the transfer portal. The fact that almost half of men's basketball teams this year we're in the transfer portal should tell you everything you need to know. This is just you know, you're a turnstile. It's like revolving door. Come on in and how long are you going to stay? Can we get one more spin on the revolving now you're gone. That's what it's become. And you got these kids who are staying in college longer because you can make more money. And it feels like the rich are going to get richer here because Kentucky can get kids coming in, but you still get Kentucky boosters to pay you to stay a little while longer, Duke, I mean the blue bloods are going to be able to They're going to pick and choose from the smaller schools. I wouldn't I wouldn't recruit. I wouldn't take a high school kid. I'd be like, give me somebody who's approven commodity. I mean, I might miss out on age Debanza, but that's okay. I mean he's great, but it's one and done at BYU.

Speaker 4: Yes, Marv, Yeah, you've seen what Yukon of Michigan have done the past few years, where you might get a really good high school ball player, but the rest of your team they're twenty two to twenty three years old and they're transferred guys from other schools. So that might be the play.

Speaker 2: And when I talked to Danny Hurley when the season ended, he said, yeah, that's kind of what they do. They look for that one McDonald's all American, and then you're gonna get guys transferring in Michigan had an entire roster Illinois. Like now, there's some coaches who don't like this at all. They don't think that these players should be eligible to come over to the United States.

Speaker 3: It's interesting too because a guy like aj DEBANTSA by being a top three pick, B why you can't match that. But if you're like the twentieth pick of the draft or twenty fifth, you could be afforded. You could be like Mullins from Yukon. Yeah, if he was top five, he's gone. Yeah. But if you're in that next year past the lottery, they could afford to keep you.

Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, you say, hey, why don't you stay, Why don't you show that you can be the man? Which is what I would want from this kid. I want to see if you can carry the load every single night. Because there were games where he disappeared, and then there are games where you go, man, that guy's first round draft pick. I know that we draft on potential. Potential gets you fired. I want to prove in commodity. And that's why if I'm running a big time program, I'm just going to go around the country.

Speaker 2: And then we might have a couple of recruits coming in and then maybe some holdovers. That would be my approach because I want a larger sample size. Then, man, your highlight high school highlight tape looked awesome. My high school highlight tape looked awesome. It didn't quite pan out for me, but it's like, you know, they don't show any negative plays in your high school highlight tape. That'd be great if they did give you a truer sense of what you're getting. The NBA has disclosed to its thirty general managers a new anti tanking draft reform, and it's termed the three two one Lottery. Okay, I've read I wasn't a great student, I didn't do well on the act.
