00:00:05 Speaker 1: Hello, gorgeous, welcome back to give them Lalla podcast bonus episode. I'm feeling a little sleepy today. I don't know, well, actually, I keep saying I don't know why. I do know why. I'm twenty nine weeks pregnant. I'm exhausted. 00:00:21 Speaker 2: I feel it. It's coming on to me. I'm feeling the tiredness for you. 00:00:25 Speaker 3: You are. 00:00:26 Speaker 4: I'm awake and ready to go. You guys, I want to talk about your weekend on the regular. 00:00:29 Speaker 1: Episode, though, we'll talk about all the things on the regular episode. 00:00:32 Speaker 3: Okay. 00:00:33 Speaker 1: So I was going through the notes and looking for what bonus episode topic am I in two? And Jessica, I forgot which one I chose, but I know I'm mad this Okay, what is it? 00:00:48 Speaker 4: And it was based off of an article I came across, an actual article, not a TikTok over the weekend. 00:00:53 Speaker 1: Okay. 00:00:53 Speaker 3: And so the prompt you guys. 00:00:55 Speaker 4: Was quote unquote dangerous you did as a kid that would never fly today? And the article was a BuzzFeed article called twenty nostalgic but dangerous back in the day childhood experiences. Older adult adults are surprised they survived. 00:01:15 Speaker 3: That's a very long title, by the way, But yeah, what's. 00:01:18 Speaker 1: The quick That is not how it looked when I chose it. 00:01:21 Speaker 4: No, the one I sent, though, is the one I read, which was just dangerous things you did as a kid that would never fly. 00:01:27 Speaker 1: And you learned it on BuzzFeed. You got the idea on BuzzFeed. 00:01:29 Speaker 3: I sure did it, think you BuzzFeed. 00:01:31 Speaker 1: BuzzFeed's great. Yeah, when I chose this, I had a plethora of memories come swirling through my mind of all of the things that dad allowed us to do that very well could have ended in death. 00:01:49 Speaker 3: Was what was twelve year old driving the car one of those things? 00:01:53 Speaker 1: Well, no, because I kind of did that behind their back. They didn't know about that fly. No, well, we talked. We've talked about this a lot, so I didn't use this as one of them. But like when we would lay down the seats and put the TV and you know, stupid things like that. Okay, everyone has done this one sitting in the bed of the pickup truck. Oh oh yeah, yeah, right is so fun on a summer day in Utah. 00:02:25 Speaker 2: People still do that. 00:02:26 Speaker 3: Though they do it, it's dangerous and kids don't do it as much. 00:02:30 Speaker 1: Wait, where have you seen them doing we saw just the other day. Were you in Utah? 00:02:35 Speaker 2: No, I was here. Oh no, yeah, I just didn't just on. 00:02:38 Speaker 5: The four O five No, no, no, no, it was on Magnolia. 00:02:42 Speaker 1: Oh okay, in the valve. 00:02:44 Speaker 5: Yeah, just I don't know. They seemed like they were like thirties or so. 00:02:48 Speaker 3: Okay, Well, if you're an adult and you choose to do that. 00:02:51 Speaker 1: No, I'm talking about kids Easton. I'm talking about like, let's go for a joy ride. 00:02:55 Speaker 2: Oh either way, it's oh yeah, I haven't seen kids in it. 00:02:58 Speaker 1: Like I remember getting in Dad's Candy Apple red Toyota. 00:03:02 Speaker 2: Lay down so no one could see us though. 00:03:04 Speaker 1: Wait, really, I don't run. 00:03:05 Speaker 2: You don't you remember like sitting up just driving. 00:03:08 Speaker 5: I remember laying down like this so no one could see us in the. 00:03:12 Speaker 1: In the toyota. 00:03:14 Speaker 5: But going to dance. How wild that we have very different memories of. 00:03:20 Speaker 1: It totally because I remember doing it and driving down thirty ninth into that area of like where Club Dub was Club Wendie's and they had the snow shack over by the sunlight. 00:03:35 Speaker 2: Whoa, what. 00:03:37 Speaker 1: We've got the same households completely different. 00:03:40 Speaker 3: This is the Mandela. 00:03:42 Speaker 1: Thirty third, but near the sun lofts, No thirty ninth down, Yes, Club Dub it's where like Excel Excel. Yes, that parking lot where they had the store. Yes, and it was the only, the only snow shack like the shape dice pleases that put cream on your snow cone, like whipped cream. It was like sweet and condensed. 00:04:08 Speaker 3: Milk that sounds so good. 00:04:10 Speaker 1: It was so good, and they like invented it. They invented the sweet condensed milk. Shout out, no shack just to know, Wow, fancy was it in blue red? You could get it on anything. I got tiger, but. 00:04:26 Speaker 2: Like the snow shack was blue and red. Okay, we're coming to now. From there. Easton has in the back of the truck. I can't remember that he. 00:04:36 Speaker 1: Has high guy brain. High guy brain ride and on the regular episode, I can't wait to talk about Friday Night, I can't speaking of high guy brain. The second place my mind went to for uh things that are unsafe is in Lake Powell or or Bear Lake. On the Sentry. It was a speedboat and it had metal like an open open bow. And I would sit on my knees, but standing up, not sitting down like the Titanic hauling ass just fucking wave after wave. One wrong move, I flip over and that boat's chopping up young like elementary school. And we would all do it, all the kids because the bow was shaped like this, so you had a bunch of kids, and whoever got the front was like I wanted the front. 00:05:40 Speaker 3: You got the front last time. 00:05:43 Speaker 1: Yeah, we did that. 00:05:44 Speaker 3: Too, come to think of it, holding onto the front. 00:05:46 Speaker 5: And really just going just like sitting on your knees and then sometimes standing up. 00:05:51 Speaker 3: I would never let my child do that. 00:05:53 Speaker 1: Which no, No, I also think it's very unsafe thinking back at that point in time, how many dads we're cracking Bruskis while driving the boat and pulling you on the tube. 00:06:04 Speaker 2: One right just could smack Indiana any moment when you fell off. 00:06:07 Speaker 1: No, but I just remember, like all the dads like cracking a bruski and putting it in the cozy or coozy or whatever. 00:06:15 Speaker 3: And what a time coupholder right there on the boat. 00:06:18 Speaker 4: It was like, I have so many photos of my dad drinking his beer driving the boat. 00:06:22 Speaker 1: It's terrifying. I know if someone I'm going to take ocean out on the boat. I knew that there was a that he was having a beer. I'd be like, no, you're not. Yeah, those are the things that I think about where I'm like, were we just exempt from accidents back then? Because every other day I'm hearing about an accident, and if one more person tells me shark attacks are rare, well for them being so rare, I hear about one. 00:06:46 Speaker 4: A week and around us, you guys, San Diego, well Florida, which isn't around. 00:06:52 Speaker 2: Us, but close enough for me not to get in. 00:06:54 Speaker 1: It's close enough for me to get there in six hours on a plane, so I do not Yeah, what are things that your family? 00:07:04 Speaker 4: Okay, so I wrote down a couple. I'm not in the same vein as you, but okay. I feel like when I was young talking in chat rooms as a little girl and like my friend, but like my parents didn't know just like oh, chatroulette, like like chat roulette, but like actually I wasn't twelve when am I talking. I was probably like ten or eight, and me and my friend would just be in a random chat room like pretending we're old or talking and most likely we were talking to like old men, but we didn't know that, and my parents were like what is this And I'd be like, just a chat room. They didn't know what that was. They were like a chat okay, chatting. 00:07:40 Speaker 5: I remember seeing so many penises on Chatroulette. 00:07:44 Speaker 3: Oh my chat chat Lite. 00:07:46 Speaker 1: Later, I don't even know what that is. 00:07:48 Speaker 3: Chat Roulette was like ten years ago, and I liked Chatrolett. 00:07:51 Speaker 5: It's still going on, but like you just go on to chatroolette dot com and then it just like it's random. 00:07:57 Speaker 2: Its just random people that you just start meeting. 00:08:00 Speaker 4: But granted there has been some amazing singers found on there. You just go and they're just like singing, and people are like damn and they're just like hitting these so's. 00:08:09 Speaker 5: It's a video and chat yeah, and that person it can't be like a it's not like one person's playing and like a lot of people are watching them. Like once the person's done, they'll click next and then somebody else will see that person. 00:08:23 Speaker 3: But that's like newer. 00:08:24 Speaker 4: Another thing I wrote down was I babysat my little baby brother at like eleven years old, twelve years old, and my mom was just like at work and my little brother was like, one, no, I'm not going and that was like changing. I was like and my older brother was there, but like he didn't give a shit. 00:08:42 Speaker 3: He'd like go to his friend's house or something. 00:08:44 Speaker 2: Good for him. 00:08:45 Speaker 1: I think, and I don't know about California, but I believe, don't quote me. I believe that the legal age to watch children in like Nevada is twelve. I think twelve, think still, or maybe it's you can be let you can leave your kid by themselves at twelve. We should fact check that. But that seems a little young to me. That's the sixth grade. 00:09:11 Speaker 4: Yeah, well I got my parents made me get CPR certified, and you could get CPR certified at twelve because so many twelve year olds were babysitting. 00:09:19 Speaker 1: So you were watching mister Bubbs. 00:09:21 Speaker 3: Mister Bubbs. For sure. 00:09:22 Speaker 4: We would watch the Wiggles on TV. The Wiggles, do you remember that? Yeah, oh they were so I don't know, I don't want to say creepy. And then lastly, I put, this isn't as relatable, but I put riding my horse to the ice cream shop. So I feel like as a kid, I was like ten and my parents would let me take my horse, my friend Jamie take our other horse, and we would literally ride our horses on very this. 00:09:52 Speaker 2: Is so so many other. 00:09:55 Speaker 3: Ride horse right to the local ice cream shop. 00:09:58 Speaker 4: But it was like busy streets like cars, and we're just horsing around up to the ice. 00:10:04 Speaker 1: Wow, horsing around literally, I've. 00:10:07 Speaker 5: Never heard that term actually literally fucking used and that is wild. 00:10:12 Speaker 2: We were fucking horsing around. That's so true. I've never actually heard that and put it. Holy shit? Am I high? 00:10:23 Speaker 3: Or is that wild? This is wild? 00:10:26 Speaker 2: You're fucking horsing around literally? 00:10:33 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:10:33 Speaker 1: Wow, we were so young. 00:10:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, just horse it around. 00:10:38 Speaker 3: This horsing around literally. 00:10:42 Speaker 5: I don't know why that was so wild to me, but that term coming in and like actually coming in. 00:10:47 Speaker 2: To term was wild. Yeah, totally because how many times did that take? Quit horse it around? 00:10:52 Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking about all the time. 00:10:54 Speaker 2: And you were actually doing it around. 00:10:56 Speaker 5: You should have been yelling at you quite horsing around? 00:10:59 Speaker 1: You know what though, That's actually I think something that was pretty normal back in the day, was it. Yeah, And you grew up in Finger Lakes or whatever, and we were in Salt Lake, So I don't know what it was like to grow up in like an actual big city. I assume like when I go to New York. There are times that I see kids, they're probably teenagers leaving school and going and getting a coffee or whatever. But I'm talking elementary school in Utah. My mom would be like, you're gonna walk home from school today, and it was like. 00:11:35 Speaker 2: Okay, I started walking home every day instead of her giving me a like be home. 00:11:40 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's far as a little kid. 00:11:43 Speaker 1: Well, elementary school, yeah, I would never know. I would never allow my child to walk home from school. And then where the bus dropped us off because we liked taking the bus. There's something about the bus just wants to take a bus so broad and like it looks more fun than it actually. 00:12:00 Speaker 2: As Babe, I was about to say, I didn't take the bus that off. 00:12:03 Speaker 1: You didn't, But I loved the bus because my friend Lydia took the bus. But it dropped us off near Lydia's home. And then I by myself would walk through the neighbor like not neighborhood, but it was a neighborhood, but it also resembled where like when you watch a twenty twenty episode and they're like little Sammy Sue or whatever. His body was found in between two houses on this like piece of land. That's where I was walking through. 00:12:36 Speaker 3: You get home, you could have gotten stolen. 00:12:39 Speaker 4: And it's always the thing that's like, it's always on the murder things like just a block away from her house. 00:12:45 Speaker 1: And always in a small, safe town where no one locked their doors. Right, move me to the city. 00:12:53 Speaker 3: Did you guys lock your doors? 00:12:54 Speaker 4: Because I didn't even never blocked their doors until I moved to like, uh, until I went to college, and then I'm like, what do you mean lock your door with you're talking about. 00:13:02 Speaker 1: Your doors, your windows, set the alarm, get the pit bulls at the front door, ready to go, locked doors, lock the doors when we were young, but was it like was it a big deal if you didn't like the car doors we would leave open. At times it was a rare occasion. Like let me tell you something here in LA if one of you needs to get in the house and it's passed a certain time and you're out and about, sorry, buddy, you're getting locked out. Figure it out. You know what. 00:13:31 Speaker 3: Happens when you leave car doors unlocked ransacked? 00:13:34 Speaker 5: Yeah, but then again it's like, okay, sometimes because my car's gotten broken into and I've had not here just in Utah. And it's either they break the window or they open the door, so you get jacked and your car. 00:13:49 Speaker 2: Door or your window's broken. So sometimes it's better. 00:13:53 Speaker 1: Make it easy for them. 00:13:55 Speaker 2: It open easy for a chore, easy. 00:13:59 Speaker 4: For you unless you see your car speeding down the street because they wired started it up. 00:14:04 Speaker 2: That's when you bite your lip and just go take the loss. 00:14:08 Speaker 1: Yeah, you're like, you know what, I respect how much effort they put it. 00:14:11 Speaker 2: You need it jacking. 00:14:13 Speaker 4: Honestly, at this point, I'm ready for someone to jack the Patriot because she's giving me such bad times. 00:14:19 Speaker 3: Okay, No, I'm not ready. 00:14:20 Speaker 4: She's my girl, but she is just really being difficult with all right, No, I love her. 00:14:25 Speaker 1: I'm gonna take us down a rabbit mechanical ship, crazy one, Dewey, I can't wait. Okay, tell me car surfing? Car surfing? 00:14:36 Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, the snow. 00:14:38 Speaker 3: Is what I'm assuming? 00:14:39 Speaker 2: Did you know that is true? But I wouldn't I would, all right, I would probably let my kid do it. You gotta I did. 00:14:46 Speaker 1: You form a full sentence? 00:14:48 Speaker 2: Please? Did you ever car surfing on concrete? No snow? Yes. 00:14:52 Speaker 5: Back in the day, we would go to Skyline High School and like just right after its snow and you just fucking go like in a loop and you'd hold onto a rope and on like a snowboard with no wheels or trucks, so you just slide around. 00:15:03 Speaker 3: My dad. 00:15:04 Speaker 2: But I did that when like, I did this when I. 00:15:06 Speaker 1: Was reattached to a car though. 00:15:08 Speaker 4: Yeah, well my dad and uncle just used to hold onto the back of a car and then like someone my other uncle would drive and they would be like like skiing on their shoes. 00:15:17 Speaker 2: And I I did it when I was younger with. 00:15:21 Speaker 5: Down Dylan Doherty's like hill and his yeah, well, just to get some speed and then his brother pulled us. But we were young, but we were safe. He wasn't an asshole. He's a good guy, damn. 00:15:32 Speaker 2: But I wouldn't. I'd let my kid do that. You gotta learn. 00:15:35 Speaker 1: You one wrong you hit a rock and your face is in the see and that's where my mind goes, Yeah, one wrong move and you're. 00:15:44 Speaker 2: Done for Well how fast are you going in your I wouldn't. 00:15:49 Speaker 1: I wouldn't do it period. 00:15:50 Speaker 2: Yeah, oh see, I would and let my kids do it. You gotta have fun. I can't just say nope, nothing nothing fun. Because everything fun can get your hurt. 00:15:59 Speaker 1: I'm currently trying to make Ocean terrified of the ocean. 00:16:02 Speaker 2: She's already terrified of it. 00:16:04 Speaker 1: She's like, there are shocks in that, and I go big ones that eat you, eat you, they'll bite you. 00:16:12 Speaker 3: With her name, Ocean terrified of it. 00:16:14 Speaker 1: We only admire. We know that it's powerful and scar okay. But just because if I named a baby Sky, which by the way, is not the name, not the name okay, Sky, what do I need to send you outer space to like make it legit? How could you name her sky if she doesn't even want to venture into the sky. It's just because I named her Ocean doesn't mean I want her out in those streets getting eaten by a shark. That is happening once a week, by the way that I said it at the beginning of the pod, once a week. 00:16:54 Speaker 3: She's reminding you, Mom may be. 00:16:58 Speaker 1: Sending the same ones. 00:17:00 Speaker 2: I think mom. 00:17:00 Speaker 5: I think Mom sends the same one a couple of times from different angles. 00:17:04 Speaker 1: Well, because one said del mar and then the other one said San Diego, and I was like, I'm pretty sure that's the same one. The same I think it was. 00:17:11 Speaker 4: But that's very smart, because especially if we're going to be in like north Shore every year, those waves you go up to your ankles, they'll snatch you out. 00:17:18 Speaker 1: I'm not going in the water there, I'm saying. 00:17:20 Speaker 4: If she did, though, she loved the ocean and just went up to like even her knees, they would those waves are so powerful. 00:17:27 Speaker 1: No, just admire, just admire, admire. Yeah, what's what's the next one? 00:17:32 Speaker 3: Ooh, I did this? 00:17:34 Speaker 4: Oh my god, rode down the hill in a radio flyer wagon. 00:17:38 Speaker 3: Did you guys have one of those? The red wine? 00:17:41 Speaker 2: And then they had like the cattle. 00:17:43 Speaker 4: That is scary, but if you steer too sharp, you flip and you're going down concrete. 00:17:48 Speaker 5: Okay, we did that in our just in our driveway, but our hill wasn't that big. 00:17:55 Speaker 2: No, I was afraid to do that. 00:17:58 Speaker 1: Well, I had a run in junior high that they were I don't believe it was a wagon. I think they were doing it on a skateboard, if I if I remember correctly, it was a skateboard and they put a box on the skateboard, sat in it. They decided to start going backwards, and my everyone made it down safely. The last one to go kind of veered into a parked car, is back wrapped around paralyzed. 00:18:27 Speaker 3: Mm hmm, yep. 00:18:28 Speaker 4: A lot of that, those accidents on the lake too where I grew up. 00:18:32 Speaker 1: Yeah, he was the homie that was that happened in junior high. We were going into high school. I took him to winter formal and I got down on all fours and he put his legs on my back, crossed like he was kicking back. 00:18:50 Speaker 3: Is really cute. 00:18:51 Speaker 1: And I made this face, Ah, that's and made it. And I was way too tan, way too. 00:18:59 Speaker 2: She was orange, were up? 00:19:00 Speaker 3: I remember that orange? 00:19:01 Speaker 2: Did you beds? No? Never? 00:19:06 Speaker 1: Yeah? 00:19:06 Speaker 2: No. 00:19:07 Speaker 1: I went in a tanning bed one time in the seventh grade and got the worst rash all over my chest and neck that I was like, I'm never going back in there. I think I'm having an allergic reaction. And so I only did spray tan, but me and my friends. 00:19:21 Speaker 2: Who were didn't you do the rubbing? 00:19:24 Speaker 1: No, Jurgens was in junior high. Once I high school, I elevated to the actual spray tan lady. They were in the dance parking lot and. 00:19:36 Speaker 2: You just got sprayed in the dance parking lot. 00:19:39 Speaker 1: No, that strip center, Oh that makes sense. 00:19:43 Speaker 5: I was like, I saw anybody just spray tanning in the dance parking. 00:19:47 Speaker 1: Lots, I'm going to need you to pull your head from the clouds. 00:19:52 Speaker 2: But didn't it. I don't know. 00:19:53 Speaker 1: I thought you were just getting it's fine, you're literal today. It's fine in that strip center. And because I was a sophomore and my friends were seniors, I just did I just listened to what they said. They've been to a million and one dances. They said you have to go three days in a row and don't bathe. And I'm like, we're gonna stink, and they were like, we've got it covered. Like the boys know before the dance, there's gonna be a period of like, don't kiss me, don't smell me. They were sexually active at the time. I don't think I was at the time, Okay, but we went to school stanky bitches with three layers of spray tann on, and by the time it was time to bathe on Saturday for the school dance, we were orange. 00:20:44 Speaker 3: A photo. Do you think you have one? Releasa it does. 00:20:46 Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure I could find it somewhere. 00:20:48 Speaker 4: I mean, surely you were also sitting on like the lunch seats and stuff, and you were leaving behind residue. 00:20:53 Speaker 1: I'm sure we were residuing it up toilets. Yeah, oh for sure, the toilets. 00:20:57 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:20:58 Speaker 1: And then I did my hair and ringlets, but didn't rushed them out, so it was just tiny, little, horrible noodle hair. 00:21:03 Speaker 4: Oh that's how I did it for Katilian Damn. 00:21:07 Speaker 1: Oh yucky, yucky, so yuck. Okay. 00:21:12 Speaker 4: Next, Oh my god, this one I've never done in Girl I hope or boy, I hope you're okay. Johnny got in the clothes dryer and shut the door behind me crying, laughing face. 00:21:22 Speaker 3: God knows why, Johnny. That could have been a disaster. 00:21:26 Speaker 1: He's like Stuart Little. 00:21:28 Speaker 3: Did Stuart do that? 00:21:29 Speaker 2: Yeah? 00:21:29 Speaker 1: But did he get roasted? No? He went into the lawn into the washer instead, but the cat closed him in there, and. 00:21:37 Speaker 2: He did and he started it. 00:21:38 Speaker 1: He went onto the rent cycle and did he drown? 00:21:42 Speaker 3: And that's how the movie ends. 00:21:43 Speaker 1: No, have you never seen Stuart Little? 00:21:46 Speaker 3: Isn't there like twelve? 00:21:47 Speaker 1: I'm talking about the og one? 00:21:49 Speaker 2: Okay? 00:21:49 Speaker 1: No, the mom comes in and saves him. He falls out of the the U the washer. That could have happened to that kid. How did he. 00:21:58 Speaker 4: Fit Johnny, I don't he was obviously wash. That is so scary to me. Yeah, very that actually is making my heart beat fast. 00:22:08 Speaker 1: No, I don't think you can get out. 00:22:09 Speaker 2: I get claustrophobic. 00:22:12 Speaker 3: Yes, same same. 00:22:13 Speaker 1: But don't you ever wonder what possesses like what would make you go, I'm gonna. 00:22:18 Speaker 4: Get in there and shut the door, just like fun because I used to do Like we had a laundry shoot in our first house that I used to My brother would put a bunch of blankets on the bottom and I was little. My parents were gone, I don't know, or not watching us, and I would jump through the chute and land in the blanket. 00:22:35 Speaker 1: Like a little torpedo. 00:22:36 Speaker 3: Yeah. And it's like, I mean, it wasn't. 00:22:39 Speaker 2: Like was it like dead straight or just like a little slide. 00:22:42 Speaker 3: It was a little slide. 00:22:43 Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure it was tiny. 00:22:45 Speaker 3: Yeah, but it was small. Like I remember having to put my arms up. 00:22:49 Speaker 1: What could you imagine doing that? Now? I the thought of you putting me into a tiny space? Like did you ever watch Poseidon? 00:23:00 Speaker 3: No? 00:23:02 Speaker 1: Do you remember Posidon easton the rogue wave that hits the boat and flips it and they have to crawl into like an air duct and it's. 00:23:12 Speaker 3: Like an air pocket or air duct, you know, like. 00:23:15 Speaker 1: The little tiny Oh my god no, and then they get there and there's like a bar that they can't get through and they're all stuck in there being and the water's coming. Oh no, that's like me my biggest nightmare, like being buried. 00:23:32 Speaker 2: I might have to watch beside. 00:23:34 Speaker 1: It's so good. 00:23:34 Speaker 3: I don't. 00:23:35 Speaker 1: I don't love that either. But we're happy that that guy didn't get. 00:23:38 Speaker 2: Roasted to death. 00:23:40 Speaker 4: Yeah, he's still existing, and clearly he got out, I hope. 00:23:44 Speaker 3: So maybe a. 00:23:46 Speaker 2: Lot of question yeah, like how long would he. 00:23:47 Speaker 1: Know unless unless he was like, hey mom, I'm gonna go close myself in the dry and she was like all right, I'll set the timer and then she comes and gets him side. Well, yeah, to be like just to know, like, I don't want to forget john they're not turning it on. 00:24:04 Speaker 2: It's just a little turkey. 00:24:06 Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I can't. I can't mess with you today. I'm sorry. 00:24:13 Speaker 4: Yeah, I know he's still living. So Johnny update us. Did it ever get turned on? And if so, how many roles did you experience before. 00:24:20 Speaker 3: The door opened? 00:24:21 Speaker 4: Oh my god, Oh this is so common, Like we all did it, being outside all day without mom knowing where I was and no phones. 00:24:32 Speaker 3: That was just so classic. 00:24:33 Speaker 2: Could you imagine Ocean going out with her friends no phone now. 00:24:36 Speaker 4: Like walking around the neighborhood riding her bike eight years old, six years old? 00:24:41 Speaker 1: You're you're wilin if you think Ocean's leaving the gates on a bike by herself. 00:24:47 Speaker 3: Do people still do this? I noticed though in upstate New York. 00:24:50 Speaker 4: There's still a lot of neighborhoods well like kids riding their bike and they're little. But I think maybe it's not just like all around the neighborhood. I think it's maybe more localized because I used to go to I won't say their last names, but I used to go to my friend's house and it was like it was probably a good mile on my bike, and I wouldn't come home until like eight pm. 00:25:11 Speaker 3: It was dark. 00:25:13 Speaker 1: I think the furthest we ever walked was to the ressens. Did you walk? Did you ever walk further than that? Did you call Mom when you got there? 00:25:22 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:25:23 Speaker 3: Because I had a phone. 00:25:24 Speaker 1: I got a phone in the fourth grade. 00:25:27 Speaker 4: We get a phone until sixth grade. And I thought I was very early getting a phone. 00:25:31 Speaker 1: Well, sixth grade is early. I the only reason I think I got mine early was because everybody got phones in the fourth grade. So my mom was like, well, I guess I have to get her one. Did you have a brick No, it looked you know, the little like the little ones. Yeah, that was mine. But it was shaped like this was shaped like a peanut. 00:25:54 Speaker 3: Oh, a pe nut. 00:25:55 Speaker 1: Yeah, it was around rather than the typical like this, that's what my look remember. And you'd play the snake game, yes, yeah, that was the difference. 00:26:05 Speaker 2: I had that one with the Snake game. Yeah. 00:26:08 Speaker 1: And then I remember getting a flip phone for Christmas. But other people got a flip phone for Christmas, and we went to Candas's house and all showed each other our phones, and I was really jealous of one girl's phone, so I talked about it. 00:26:23 Speaker 2: What phone was it? 00:26:24 Speaker 1: Hers was cute and small, and Mom got me this like motor La, like it was. 00:26:31 Speaker 2: Getting the big old motorolas. I was like, can I get that one? And she was like this Motorola was all right? 00:26:41 Speaker 3: Does it still exists? Sponsor the podcast? If you sponsored. 00:26:45 Speaker 5: By motor I remember that I did I remember getting my first phone, flip phone, and I wake up just to like tibby chewing on it. Oh no, I just had like do you remember it had been light the white or the light that would like light up when it was getting phone calls in it. 00:27:04 Speaker 1: I loved that phone. That's little silver one and. 00:27:07 Speaker 3: The phone survive with a dog that chewed on it. 00:27:10 Speaker 2: I wake up, I taken that up, I said it down. I was. 00:27:15 Speaker 1: When you turned it on and we go hello, Moto, Hello, that's what that's from. Then I graduated to the sidekick anyway. 00:27:25 Speaker 2: Go through dogs, go through washes. 00:27:27 Speaker 4: Wow, bring back the motor rola Today's podcast sponsored by Motorola. Did you guys ever, Oh my god? 00:27:37 Speaker 1: Do this? 00:27:38 Speaker 4: So I never did this. I feel like we're a little young for this. But went into the gas station to get my mom a pack of cigarettes. The cashier would just wave to my mom outside. 00:27:48 Speaker 2: Yeah, I know I've never done that. 00:27:50 Speaker 3: No, well, our moms didn't smoke cigarettes. 00:27:53 Speaker 1: Well I don't think that matters. You can go in and buy a pack of gum too. But what do you mean, like you just her mom? 00:27:59 Speaker 4: So as a kid, you couldn't be a six year old seven year old, eight year old whatever kid these days and go in. 00:28:04 Speaker 3: And be like she would go yeah. 00:28:06 Speaker 1: I thought that the weird part was like her the cashier, like knowing her mom, Like we were in such a small town. Oh no, no, that would never happen. 00:28:14 Speaker 3: Ever, And the cashier would just be like okay, like wave to the mom there for me. 00:28:19 Speaker 1: I don't know that seems like a small town thing. 00:28:20 Speaker 3: It might still happen, you think. 00:28:22 Speaker 1: I think you go like places that are little tiny, like maybe Beaver, Utah Beaver, Beaver, beaver, it's. 00:28:30 Speaker 3: Him in the morning. 00:28:31 Speaker 4: Beaver first. She's still a whore. She greets a mom, She's still a whore. They've been married twenty years or something. 00:28:43 Speaker 2: She would she greets some beaver first. 00:28:46 Speaker 1: Beaver first, Like, mom, you're not an alcoholic, well only because I've never had a drink. 00:28:52 Speaker 3: She has my favorite the bangs. She's painting my nona or something. 00:28:58 Speaker 2: Oh so funny. She is good. 00:29:02 Speaker 4: I mean, there's still so many someone put talk to people that it's a throwback thing to do. 00:29:09 Speaker 5: I don't think I let my like Cliff jump as young as I did, or you did, like in like Powell. 00:29:16 Speaker 2: I don't think that was scary. 00:29:18 Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't either, because you never know, like the the levels of the water. 00:29:22 Speaker 1: Yeah, and you you cannot trust that, you know, Like I remember. 00:29:28 Speaker 2: Like a miss jump hitting your back. 00:29:30 Speaker 3: Or something hitting the hack. 00:29:33 Speaker 1: Did jump off of cliffs. 00:29:35 Speaker 2: Crazy shit. 00:29:36 Speaker 1: That's why very young, and we would put our life jackets on diaper style. Do you remember that? For that could have been dangerous and we would jump in. No, the whole thing was dangerous. I would never think of you. I would assume watching us. 00:29:51 Speaker 2: No, there was no way. Well Dad, where was mom. 00:29:54 Speaker 1: In the boat watching sunbathing? 00:29:57 Speaker 2: Wait? 00:29:58 Speaker 1: What did you say? 00:29:58 Speaker 3: Life jacket was to float to the top. 00:30:01 Speaker 4: So I would assume if you put it on diaper style, if you're too light as a kid, you could drown that way. 00:30:06 Speaker 3: And it stuck on you. 00:30:08 Speaker 1: You're just like, no, it's terrifying, absolutely terrifying. And the gauge on the boat when we got the new speedboat, like do you remember that time? This was kind of Dad's fault. It tells you how deep the water is. But again technology, I don't trust it. But we were totally fine depth wise. Dad is falling ass the last day and we just hit the biggest rock it was oh gnarly the fact that none of us flew out of the boat. 00:30:47 Speaker 2: I just remember. 00:30:49 Speaker 3: What was the boat? 00:30:51 Speaker 4: Just absolutely uh, I mean it's like the Titanic. 00:30:55 Speaker 1: Well, it was a little putterer as we got back into what's that area marina? The marina, and then when we pulled the boat out, I mean the propeller was fucked up, like oh. 00:31:07 Speaker 2: No, we had to get like a whole new to get a whole new Yeah, motori and bottom half of the. 00:31:14 Speaker 1: Motors, and my dad with his row literally rose colored glasses and probably a beer. 00:31:22 Speaker 2: It was probably a solo cup. 00:31:24 Speaker 1: I bet it was a solo cup. 00:31:25 Speaker 3: And none of you flew off. 00:31:27 Speaker 2: No, but don't you remember the boat just going like of course something immediately? 00:31:33 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and it was obviously something very strong, like a. 00:31:37 Speaker 3: Rock that is wild, did you guys? 00:31:41 Speaker 4: Oh, not wearing a bicycle helmet on my bicycle. I always got a new bike with a helmet that matched, but I never wore the helmet. 00:31:52 Speaker 1: I don't think I wore the helmet either, and my. 00:31:54 Speaker 4: Mom would always try and be like, it's a cute new helmet. Never I didn't wear a helmet. Twelve years old, riding my dirt bike. 00:32:01 Speaker 1: And I was joking, that's wild because even on like the four wheelers we may have, we may have ridden on the bows of the boats, but we always wore a helmet. 00:32:14 Speaker 3: We always wore a helmet. That's good, even on your bikes. 00:32:17 Speaker 1: The helmet freaks me out, though, Why because again I always go back to one wrong move. And can I tell you my daughter? My daughter was at the other house again, accidents happened, just like when they told me that this happened. I was like, accidents happened, but she was riding her bike. 00:32:37 Speaker 2: And a helmet on. 00:32:38 Speaker 1: I don't even know that it would have helped. I don't know that it would have helped. She tells me that she didn't have a helmet on. 00:32:44 Speaker 2: I have. I assume she did. 00:32:48 Speaker 1: She probably, I'm sure she did. But she fell off of her bike because she wouldn't put her dolly down so she wasn't stable. Falls on her face gets a huge fat lip. When I look at her, the tops of her gums and remember we're teeth people like I come from a long line of dentists and orthodontist teeth. Yeah, welcome to Utah. But her gums were like bloody and a little messed up. I was nervous. Now the teeth. We had to go to the dentist because I looked at her a few days ago and I said, those teeth are turning a color. They're not white anymore. And she has the cutest little teeth. Thank god. We get to the dentist, the most fabulous dentist. She was so cute with Ocean. Ocean's terrified of doctor. She wants nothing to do with them. It is a production anytime I take her to do anything like this. This dentist was absolutely fantastic with her. Thank god, there was no damage to the root. But she said, obviously you can see that when there is damage like that, a trauma where she probably hit her mouth, the nerve inside of the tooth can bleed. It can sometimes as a yellow effect, or it can cause a purple effect, which can turn the teeth to When you look at them, they're looking a little it sounds so a little gray, okay, which is what happened to Ocean. She goes, the color will likely not come back. She's like, but the focus on the good news. These are baby teeth. When her grown adult teeth come in they're gonna be fine. 00:34:21 Speaker 3: Good. 00:34:22 Speaker 2: But when I. 00:34:23 Speaker 1: Called the dentist and told them that she had fallen, and they said, are the teeth changing color? And I said, yes, she goes ooh, I don't want to make an appointment. I want you to bring her in right now. 00:34:34 Speaker 3: Like it was like you do yes, is there something you can do to stop that? 00:34:39 Speaker 4: Or no? 00:34:40 Speaker 1: Like you discolouration? 00:34:41 Speaker 4: Yes, like could you ice it or something immediately like say someone's no, it's just. 00:34:46 Speaker 1: No, it's inside of the tooth. You just have to pray that there's no damage to the nerve. But the reason I say this is I'm like just looking at the damage that was done her falling off of a bike, which you know, you know a mouth. I can take you in and you know, we can have some cosmetic stuff done if you're insecure about it. Let's say it was worse than what the dentist said. If that can happen, think about what could happen if you didn't have a helmet on. Literally, one wrong move you smack your head in a certain way. Yeah, it's scary. I understand where letting go because I have some friends who are parents who are very overly protective of their kids, and I kind of get it. You want to like wrap them in bubble wrap. So there's a long winded story too, No helmet. 00:35:40 Speaker 4: Should I read a few that were in that were in the article or no? 00:35:44 Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to hear Okay. 00:35:46 Speaker 4: So number one was I played with my friends on construction sites after the workers were gone. From the ages of eight to ten. They built a bunch of new homes in my neighborhood. We had so much fun playing in people's houses when they were just wooden frames. 00:36:00 Speaker 3: So dangerous. 00:36:01 Speaker 1: We used to do that too, and it is very dangerous. 00:36:03 Speaker 4: Nails nail guns, Oh my god, horrible. My grandpa was helping build our house and he nail gunned. I remember being there and he nail gunned his hand and I remember he was like calling for someone, just casually, like his hand was nailed. 00:36:21 Speaker 1: I would have been passed down. 00:36:22 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:36:28 Speaker 1: What else? Oh? 00:36:31 Speaker 4: There was a swimming hole near our Alabama homet in a creek. In order to use the hole, you had to throw a couple of large rocks into it, which caused the water moccasins to run out of the water and into the woods. We would then swim swim in there. 00:36:44 Speaker 1: What isca. 00:36:45 Speaker 4: I just was talking to someone about this water moccasin, because over the weekend I was swimming in a place known for water moccasins. They're snakes, water snakes, and they are horrific the way they sprint at you, the way they slide they move across the water. 00:37:02 Speaker 3: And I think many of them are poisonous. What horror. 00:37:06 Speaker 1: And you think that just because I threw a few pebbles in there, you got them all out. No, well, clearly lucky. That's terrifying. 00:37:14 Speaker 3: They were big in Tennessee. 00:37:15 Speaker 4: We would when we would go on the boat in the lake, we'd always have to watch and there they'd be like water moccasin and you'd see this thing just hauling across the water. 00:37:23 Speaker 2: Would you hit it? 00:37:24 Speaker 3: No, everybody had to jump out of the bay and into the boat. 00:37:28 Speaker 2: Like. 00:37:28 Speaker 3: They're horrifying. They look don't even google them. 00:37:31 Speaker 2: I just did. 00:37:32 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:37:33 Speaker 1: How long do you think they are there? 00:37:35 Speaker 3: I mean they can get so big. 00:37:36 Speaker 4: Oh, they look like in their heads poke out, they like raise up, so it just looks like a head coming towards you. 00:37:43 Speaker 3: Oh, they're so scary. 00:37:46 Speaker 1: Wait, is it called a cotton mouth? 00:37:47 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a it's a type of cotton mouth snake. I believe. 00:37:50 Speaker 1: Are you joking? This is horrible? 00:37:52 Speaker 3: Now they're horrifying. 00:37:54 Speaker 2: No, I hate snakes. 00:37:56 Speaker 1: Two okay, what's another one? 00:37:58 Speaker 2: Okay? 00:37:58 Speaker 1: This is a. 00:37:59 Speaker 4: Shared one that I actually saw it from a lot of listeners. We made homemade fireworks. What yeah, I wouldn't even know how homemade fireworks? And also Roman candle wars do you know what those are? 00:38:10 Speaker 2: No shot each other with it. 00:38:12 Speaker 3: It is a firework that is so dangerous. 00:38:14 Speaker 5: But we used to Yeah we did that too. You light it and then just aim it at your buddies. 00:38:18 Speaker 4: And start shooting, and it's like fireballs and it's like yeah, like God forbid one hits your eye. 00:38:25 Speaker 2: That's horrifying. I know. 00:38:26 Speaker 1: Do you guys remember the passout game? 00:38:29 Speaker 2: No? No pass out? 00:38:30 Speaker 3: I don't love this. 00:38:31 Speaker 1: Someone would hold you against the wall like until you passed out. 00:38:35 Speaker 2: What I do remember that? I also remember it. 00:38:39 Speaker 3: Are you kidding? 00:38:40 Speaker 2: No? 00:38:40 Speaker 1: I'm not. 00:38:40 Speaker 3: I need to go to jail. Who did that to you? 00:38:42 Speaker 1: I never allowed anyone. 00:38:43 Speaker 3: To do it? 00:38:44 Speaker 5: So it was another one, and I can't remember, but like you'd lift your homie up. 00:38:48 Speaker 1: Yeah, and then do what was that. 00:38:51 Speaker 3: Was that the pass out game. 00:38:53 Speaker 2: I did not like that, but I can't remember. What. 00:38:55 Speaker 1: Did you ever super glue your hands to your friend's hand? 00:38:59 Speaker 2: No, we stuck there. 00:39:01 Speaker 3: No, that's hilarious. 00:39:03 Speaker 5: Did you ever just super glue your hand and then just let it dry and then peel it? 00:39:06 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's elma. 00:39:08 Speaker 4: Did you guys ever stick your arms in a in a narrow door. 00:39:12 Speaker 1: Way and press and press and then oh yeah, I like that floating? 00:39:18 Speaker 3: Yes, okay, that was so fun. Oh this is a good one. 00:39:22 Speaker 4: Delivering newspapers and collecting the money. Eleven to fifteen years old, waking up at four thirty am daily, sitting on a corner alone and riding a bike around the neighborhood trying to throw newspapers into people's porches. 00:39:36 Speaker 3: Then we went to every house collecting the money. 00:39:39 Speaker 4: We definitely had encounters with what we considered to be weird people. Now they'd be considered very creepy. I think about my own kids telling them to wake up and do that, and that would just be very irresponsible. 00:39:52 Speaker 2: Before school. 00:39:54 Speaker 1: Yeah, that is that how we got our newspapers. 00:39:58 Speaker 4: In a lot of neighborhoods, we had a newspaper delivery car. 00:40:01 Speaker 1: I think, yeah, did we get newspaper? Oh yeah, and like the in the orange. 00:40:07 Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was just like a random guy he came into a car and you just throw it. 00:40:11 Speaker 4: And your dad or mom would always like walk down the long driveway in their robe. Not everyonce, but mine would, and I'd like look out and see my mom. 00:40:19 Speaker 1: With, Hey, they don't put that in the movies for nothing, No, they sure don't. They don't. That was so fun. I know what newspapers just the whole thing of like hearing what people like used to do that they would never let their kids do now, or they go what were my parents thinking? 00:40:39 Speaker 4: What do you guys think we're doing now with kids that in thirty years were going to be like social media? 00:40:44 Speaker 3: I cannot believe we allowed. 00:40:46 Speaker 1: That getting social media at a young age. Okay, and a lot of screen time. 00:40:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's the wall that will hit, but we don't know yet. 00:40:55 Speaker 4: I kind of think eating meat and I know people are gonna come for me for this thinking like I think maybe a hundred years are going to be like, yeah, you know those beautiful like beings, people like ate those and fed those. 00:41:07 Speaker 1: I don't think that people are going to come for you. That's one of those things where it just depends on which side do land on. Right. 00:41:12 Speaker 4: I eat meat, by the way, you guys, I'm trying not to eat as much, but I think that's a good thing. 00:41:17 Speaker 5: You don't need a piece of meat every day, but you could use a piece of meat once a week. 00:41:21 Speaker 2: It's good for your sash. That's what you need. That's how I look at it. 00:41:26 Speaker 1: I don't love meat when I am pregnant, though, and I talked about this on Amazon Live. I always know, always the two times I've been pregnant. The reason I knew that I was pregnant this round, even before taking the test at two weeks, was because I could not stop thinking about slabs of meat, which never happens to me. Like I never think I want to go to a restaurant and look, you know, I'm like the appetizer person, right, I'm like, ooh, the devil days, the art choke, the hummus platter. 00:42:04 Speaker 3: Oh my girls. 00:42:08 Speaker 2: Really you know? 00:42:08 Speaker 1: But can I tell you there was stinky that day. 00:42:11 Speaker 3: I think it was homemade. 00:42:12 Speaker 1: It must have been, because I love But just because it was stinky doesn't mean that I wouldn't eat it. I do like hummus with peta, Okay, I do. I love mediterrane I. 00:42:23 Speaker 3: Feel the garlic. 00:42:25 Speaker 1: It was a little funky dillo. 00:42:27 Speaker 3: Do you think it was garlic? 00:42:28 Speaker 1: I love garlic. I could eat a clove on my own, So who knows? 00:42:31 Speaker 3: Who knows. 00:42:32 Speaker 1: I think there's something about walking into a place that shouldn't smell like food that really is annoying, Like the Beverly office exactly. I'm like, why does it smell like food? Like apartment living? 00:42:45 Speaker 3: You know, you're trying to go to bed. 00:42:47 Speaker 1: And you're like, why does it smell like food in here? I should smell like food. 00:42:52 Speaker 3: I hear you there. That's why I'm always a windows open person. But it's dangerous here, I know, and then I get hungry. 00:42:58 Speaker 1: Well no, then all right, you guys, this was a lot of fun. Go out there, be safe, Try to still live a good life, though, don't be like that. There's a happy medium that we're all gonna find. Yes, and I will come around to having ocean swim. But what I'm gonna do is when ocean gets in the water, I'm gonna have a little almost like uh base camp set up, okay, and have someone fly a drone with live footage. Oh, so that I know what's going on out there. 00:43:32 Speaker 3: When she gets in the ocean, she's gonna go. 00:43:35 Speaker 1: That deep, anything beyond ankle deep. We need to be aware of what's in. 00:43:40 Speaker 3: There, Okay, can She'll on a boogiey board one day. She will. 00:43:43 Speaker 2: It's fun and I'll do it with her. If I know that the water's safe with that drone. 00:43:46 Speaker 1: Out there, I'm gonna pass out, all right. I love you guys. Reminder, Bonus episodes drop every Monday. Video on YouTube drops the same day. Regular great episodes drop on Wednesdays, and you can find the video for that on YouTube on Fridays at nine am Pacific time. I will catch you guys on Wednesday. 00:44:05 Speaker 3: Love you,
