I'm at least curious about it. I'm far more curious than I've ever been with an All Star Game than the last ten years, maybe fifteen years now. I'm not the expectation level is not very high. It's all right, is it going to be kind of look like basketball? Kind of back and forth that you know, maybe they're competing, not trying to kill each other, but not making it seem like it's a up line and that's what it's been before, and maybe that's good enough for you. Maybe you say, hey, we just want to see our guys out there. My favorite player out there running up and down and you know, shooting some threes or dunking or some fun passes, whatever those you know, moments might be. I'd like to see a little more. I don't blame them if they don't give a little more. You have the three point Shooting Contest, which being a shooter, I love watching it. I still think that you could do somebody from the past with somebody with the president. If I say I'm going to put Steve Kerr and he has one rack, that's it, and then he's going to be with say Klay Thompson or Steph Curry, and then I get somebody out Larry Bird's going to be out there, Reggie Miller, and they get one rack. They only have to shoot one rack, and it'll be a tandem. I think that would be fun. Now, if you wanted to incorporate WNBA players in that, and you would have a legend of the game, I think that would be awesome. Now we do like the I won the three point shooting contest. That still holds some value there. But I got Dame Lillard in the three point shooting contest. He's not even playing. And we made a big deal about Mac McClung. He's not even on an NBA team, But I think Mac is going to show the dunks that he would have Maybe he's already put out the video. These are the dunks that he would have used if he was in the Slam Dunk Contest. If I would go, yes, these are the dungs that I would perform. And then PAULI goes, do you know who was in the dunk contest? And I said, I don't know, and he goes, there's only four We only have four competitors in the dunk contest.

The next year eighty two games, sixty eight games, eighty two, eighty eighty one, so on and so forth. In nineteen sixty seven he played six games. That year, there was a senior for Wake Forest by the name of Tim Duncan. The ninety seven draft, the Spurs get the number one tick and draft Tim Duncan.

None of them built their teams by landing big free agents. Nobody benefited from an elite player forcing his way into town. You know, it's not a glamorous zip code. And usually when you think of the NBA, we think a big market. Uh, you know teams, and they spend deep into the luxury tax, you know, the apron.

Speaker 2: Small markets are not supposed to dominate this way. Oklahoma City and Detroit and San Antonio they're in the bottom ten in spending in the NBA.

Speaker 2: And okay, see Detroit and San Antonio proof that anyone can compete when built the right way, and congratulations to them. But we tend to look at the NBA. You go, oh, you need LA you need Philly, you need New York, you need Boston, and yeah, it helps. The league is better when you have representatives from those cities, certainly with New York. But these are teams on the periphery in these big cities who have built really good teams. And Detroit did that quietly when they drafted Kid Cunningham and he was going to be the number one pick because somebody had to be. And I remember watching him in college and I go, okay, he could take over some games. Seemed like he was pretty good at everything, maybe not great, and I thought, okay, it's a nice, complimentary player. And then you realize the makeup of the person That's what you can't really gauge. He wants to be great, and that's the kind of player. It's when you get to the NBA. Now the job begins and it feels like that way with Kate Cunningham. He got to the NBA, Now I want to be great, Yes, Marvin, But don't.

I know Oakland's not a small market per se, but he was doing it with the Warriors also, So isn't it more so the stars than the market that they're in.

Yes, I mean Jalen Brunson played in Detroit and Dallas and people don't even remember.

And it kind of makes you want and Andrew Freeman, the president of the Dodgers, has already started meetings with Laker personnel, so we think there's gonna be some some.

But one guy I think gets a bit of a pass on this is Lebron because I distinctly remember I think it was his first run through Cleveland. He took a week mid season and went to Miami and worked out with Dwayne Wade. I don't know if it was the same period as the Banana boat incident, but that was the first time I remember an All Star player taking a break for a longer period of time. More so than just San Antonio saying one players out for one game.
