Speaker 1: Twelve of the NFL's finest quarterbacks have left the comfort of their stadiums and luxury suites for the adventure of a lifetime. These grid Iron heroes are used to leading their teams on the field, but can they outplay, outlast, and outthrow each other in the ultimate survival challenge?

00:00:17
Speaker 2: You ain't anything.

00:00:18
Speaker 1: You have the guy who's died to We find a way to win the No matter what. The stakes are high and the competition is fierce. Only one can claim the title of the ultimate survivor. Who will rise to the top and who will be sacked?

00:00:32
Speaker 3: They wrote me off.

00:00:33
Speaker 4: I ain't right back though, that's the problem.

00:00:36
Speaker 1: This is Quarterback Island.

00:00:42
Speaker 2: It's time season finale.

00:00:46
Speaker 3: Let it be known.

00:00:47
Speaker 2: Season two. Thank you you guy to Randy Chavez, the pipes, the vision. Thank you to Geno Smith. Unfortunately that's the last time he will be brought up on this show. But a guy who finished the season last year on QBLL. This Wow what we've all been leading towards.

00:01:06
Speaker 4: Truly. Watching Jordan light up during that intro, She's so happy.

00:01:13
Speaker 5: I love that this brings you so much joy, because that it brings me joy, just because it's contagious.

00:01:19
Speaker 6: This is like one of my favorite things that I have in my life, coloring.

00:01:23
Speaker 4: Jordan, Are you okay?

00:01:24
Speaker 7: However you will.

00:01:26
Speaker 2: It's been great. It's becoming a part of the culture. I know you guys have been getting some comments oh yeah about it, and I love when that happens. I saw a reference from theo Ash who is Good on on TikTok and but I saw this on on Twitter where he said that Baker Mayfield belongs on mid Quarterback Island. But it just means that it's it's getting into the culture idea. It's idea.

00:01:51
Speaker 4: We're gonna do Channel Islands version.

00:01:53
Speaker 3: No, no, We're gonna call the keys.

00:01:56
Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, okay. So for people who don't know, Quarterback Island is when we decide and determine who are the quarterbacks that are defining the position in a given season. And yes, this is the last time we plan to do it this year, although if you remember, we did have an emergency meeting we did after the regular season and Sam Darnold collapsed last season where we yanked him off at the last second season.

00:02:19
Speaker 3: Well but we'll never know, you never know, we say the season. But we do break this up into segments.

00:02:25
Speaker 2: Yes, I think.

00:02:25
Speaker 3: It's crucial coming down the stretch.

00:02:27
Speaker 7: Okay, important context.

00:02:28
Speaker 6: We do it every four ish games, a little bit off of the cadence, but we still we break it into segments. And this is the final Quarterback Island.

00:02:39
Speaker 2: It's the one that goes down in history as the ones.

00:02:43
Speaker 4: After, like playoffs or anything. We don't get a playoff edition.

00:02:45
Speaker 2: It's unfair.

00:02:47
Speaker 7: We did last year, probably won't be happening this year.

00:02:50
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, future Co.

00:02:53
Speaker 2: We Future Co would be taking care of that. We will first tell you who is on Quarterback Island to start this episode. The ten men who finished last time out, which is about week twelve, Week eleven, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes two of the members who have been on Quarterback Island since day one and never left. Will they stay here? Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert Sam Darnolds who's been on and off the island over the last couple of years. Drake May is on the island, Matthew Stafford, Lamar Jackson, another all timer. Daniel Jones snuck on at the very end last time before he got hurt, and Jordan Love was the final person to make it onto Quarterback island last time around. So this is all good context. We're going to go through who doesn't deserve to be on, who does deserve to be on. But I would like to announce for this final addition, we are we are reducing.

00:03:53
Speaker 3: Them more than one.

00:03:57
Speaker 2: We're taking two more people out there. I did I think the I think to end the season eight, that's like a quarter of the league.

00:04:05
Speaker 7: This is a double reduction.

00:04:07
Speaker 2: That we're we're bringing it down for I think at the end of the season to trigueig one. That's adding that is adding intrigue. We're taking two people off, so this episode will finish with only eight guys on Quarterback Island.

00:04:24
Speaker 8: Here's my thing. But because of the Estuary rule, the Jordan rule exactly, That's what I mean.

00:04:29
Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. The reduction should come.

00:04:30
Speaker 2: Easy because there's well, there's different people that are on the island that could be taken off. We'll see, we'll see. I think it'll lead to the best show possible. The first The first thing, and that's what's most important that we need to address is who is staying on the island. And usually we do this just with kind of the locks right at the beginning that we don't necessarily have to go with a long conversation about And it's really interesting because there are two men now, Drake May and Matthew Stafford, who if you had told me at the beginning of the season, these are the two quarterbacks that are going to dominate the conversation all year like that, that would have been a big surprise. But to me, they feel like no brainers to stay on the island. So I think we can all just agree that May and Stafford and again we're all saying, yes, we have cardboard cutouts. And with that, I actually wanted to bring it to a different conversation. We have a special guest on this edition of QB Island. Welcome to Patrick Claybond in the back.

00:05:40
Speaker 3: Room, who are a man, Hey, everybody.

00:05:45
Speaker 2: Who constructed a mathematical formula to determine who is in the MVP conversation. And I just felt like this is the show to talk May Stafford with you guys. It makes more sense than our preview show. And so for the listeners that aren't familiar Patrick with the science that you've brought to this May versus Stafford debate, just just give them some context. And where we're at right now.

00:06:11
Speaker 9: Hey, First and foremost thanks to all the Quarterback Island viewers and listeners for facilitating my addition to this tent pole, which we enjoy tenpoles around here because it keeps the tent up and operating as we are.

00:06:22
Speaker 3: Our family within the.

00:06:24
Speaker 4: Tent lights are still on, yes for now, and so what.

00:06:27
Speaker 3: I would liked.

00:06:29
Speaker 9: What I hoped to do was facilitate a farcical conversation surrounding the farcical conversation that is the Most Valuable Player award and how nebulous and vibes.

00:06:40
Speaker 3: Based it could be so.

00:06:42
Speaker 9: Over the course of the season, I assigned points for winning winning games against teams in primetime winning games against other contenders in primetime games, with the point totals escalating as the season went on and positive and negative points were awarded alongside the great mind trust that I had here within this NFL daily franchise, which is mostly me bugging Jordan and Greg while they.

00:07:06
Speaker 7: Were doing actually set it's incredible, yeah.

00:07:09
Speaker 9: And the spreadsheet has Brazil revealed the results here after Week seventeen, Drake May has eighty seven points after a negative performance in prime time with the whole world watching against the Atlanta Falcons. Matthew Stafford is down to sixty one point, which puts him in second place, but only by one point over bow Nicks. And so that's where we stand quarterback wise in the conversation, Christian McCaffrey has exceeded a couple of quarterbacks now with sixty nine points performance for CMC and otherwise. The most notable aspect is Miles Garrett. Once he started out with negative one hundred.

00:07:49
Speaker 2: Points for being a defensive becoming.

00:07:51
Speaker 9: A quarterback, right, yes, okay, non quarterback and a defensive player, which is a significant hindrance if you like to score, which is hardcore, which is once again a farcical award with no general thank you parameters for how we decided, yeah, and no real agreeance on what the criteria are. He has forty seven points. Okay, it's a great performance by Miles Garrett. But the conversation scoring, which again is not my attempt to highlight who I believe should be the MVP, and yet it's Drake.

00:08:22
Speaker 2: May and yet Patrick. It is really funny because you made this conversation all about how it's all vibes based, right, and kind of ridiculous. And yet because you know how the voters think, and you kind of figured out what the formula is primetime wins, leading touchdowns just or that maybe it's not as vibe based as you think, because the formula has spit out, who is now the favorite to win the award? Like you you have now nailed it. And it's really because what I've been saying all season is all that matters is whatever whatever happens in weeks fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, like that's who wins the award. That's basically how the voters do it. And that's where Drake may has made this big comeback point twise.

00:09:09
Speaker 9: In which it seems like a silly way to facilitate a season long award by picking.

00:09:13
Speaker 3: Out three weeks at the end, thank you much.

00:09:15
Speaker 9: In the same way that a lot of teams who consistently lose make hiring and firing decisions regarding the results within those final moments.

00:09:22
Speaker 4: Not just similar to Quarterback Island, I.

00:09:25
Speaker 3: Would say we're breaking up the segments right.

00:09:27
Speaker 9: Quarterback Island has introspection and you guys are aware of the task that's at hand. I think you know not to diminish the efforts of sports writers. But they're very proud of the things that they believe and their opportunity to say something. And we can give them a goal which is loosely defined, they're going to try to get their own personality in it by any means necessary. And that's how we've resulted in this award that nobody knows what we're voting for while we're voting for it, or how it's gonna work.

00:09:54
Speaker 8: I'm gonna stand up for sports writers and say this is the same thing that the college football Selection Committee does as well. Yes, yes, okay, this is this is These are the college Football Selection Committee rules we're playing with, but equally bad.

00:10:05
Speaker 6: In my brain, my mind is kind of blown here, Patrick, because it sounds like what started as a metaphor became a real equational system.

00:10:14
Speaker 2: It's it becomes sentient. It's making over.

00:10:17
Speaker 6: It's not myopic, she did, but we've we've come full circle back to the real equation. Can shine a light on the ridiculousness of the metaphor, because there's a reason that the metaphor exists because people aren't using the equation, but they are, I.

00:10:39
Speaker 2: Mean, without even without even knowing. I mean, there are there are weaknesses here? I would like to know what you would suggest otherwise, because if if Matthew Stafford had had this game, let's say, in week seven, the three interception game against Falcons, he would not have necessarily been as commanding a position as like he felt like he was in in the first place. But I mentioned this Monday, and I don't want to repeat myself, but the only thing that annoys me are the people that are super strident how ridiculous it would be to pick one or the other. It's just a beauty contest, and you can make your case, but it's just like you're just kind of picking off whatever. They both had great seasons. It's not obvious whatsoever.

00:11:18
Speaker 8: Okay, so what was the point differential last night? Three points? Right, Yeah, and they lose to Seattle by one. Matthew Stafford ocean was five hundred yards by you know, to Seattle, and that's kind of well he lost that game too, But you.

00:11:32
Speaker 2: Were pointing out Patrick, if they had maybe called p I on the Falcons late in that game and the Rams go on to win that game, that that would have changed, which is a great argument. The formula which is ridiculous, which is.

00:11:44
Speaker 8: Crazy because he still did not play well in that game, but they have he happen to make it play at the right time.

00:11:49
Speaker 9: And it's interesting, Greg that you bring up a week seven idea to this, because that's kind of what started this was the idea that games really mattered after week ten. And again, this is a season long award in which the season's results are cumulative, and if we're going to diminish those first seven, eight, nine weeks of the season, then what's the point of all this. Matthew Stafford has played quarterback at a spectacular level, yeah, for almost the entire season, doing things that even he in his great career, has not been able to do consistently.

00:12:21
Speaker 3: It's really weird that a bad night in Atlanta seems to wipe all that away, but yet.

00:12:26
Speaker 2: Nevertheless it won't wipe it all away, especially because of the new voting method, which I always was stumping for. And it's one thing that I feel like I helped speak into existence. Was it used to just be you vote for one one guy. Now you vote one to five and that changes things up. It's the main reason, it's literally the only reason why Josh Allen won MVP last year. Right over Lamar Jackson, And so that adds a little more variability. I don't think Stafford is going to be lower than two on many. He's definitely going to be one on many, And so you never know, like who wants to put Drake may or Stafford forth, who wants to three bomb? And uh, I think it's going to be closer than people think, no matter what happens in Week eighteen. And I wouldn't be surprised if Stafford won in the end. Everyone thought Lamar had it in the bag at this point last year.

00:13:09
Speaker 3: Not this guy. Well, you're right here. And here's the other thing.

00:13:13
Speaker 8: And Jordan will absolutely agree with me on this, Like Stafford could though for seven hundred yards against the Arizona Cardinals, but because they're really not one of thirty two, Yeah, like their games don't count before.

00:13:24
Speaker 2: It's not in timetime either.

00:13:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, so it probably won't even Well that's.

00:13:27
Speaker 5: Got to count for Drake May then too going up against the Jets, right, that that should.

00:13:32
Speaker 3: But it was just so no, the Jets count, like because we talk about them.

00:13:36
Speaker 2: I think the problem the last.

00:13:38
Speaker 3: Conversation you've had about the Arizona Cardinals.

00:13:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, right, now right now, thank you Patrick for creating something that's more powerful than all of this. Oh he's gone. That was crazy. I hope he can come back for our week eighteen previous show. He's a big part of that. So yeah, let's let's put a pin in any may the Stafford talk.

00:14:01
Speaker 5: Now.

00:14:02
Speaker 2: Two fantastic seasons by two uh young and old legends. Okay, the other obvious ones I think, and you guys could tell me if I'm wrong. And this is a pretty long list to start off the episode with. But I don't think it's that crazy. I think Josh Allen is a clear yes, right, yes, not. He's had a couple of games where he didn't play his best, certainly against the Eagles, and I think that took him out of the m v P race. But he obviously is a yes. I think Justin Herbert doesn't really need to be discussed. But let me hear what you think. Okay, I mean, I think that was you.

00:14:43
Speaker 7: Got a bunch of tape dogs in here.

00:14:44
Speaker 2: Okay, that was? That was? That was kind of the classic Justin Herbert game against the Texans where if you were watching, you you understood why the numbers don't reflect how good he.

00:14:55
Speaker 8: Is because he got heated up and that's happened over and over again.

00:14:58
Speaker 2: And then I'm willing to have a conversation. But to me, Dak Prescott has been consistent enough and everything that I wanted out of a quarterback.

00:15:07
Speaker 3: No argument.

00:15:08
Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, we're all voting produced it.

00:15:11
Speaker 3: Two more players, not that we're keeping.

00:15:13
Speaker 2: Okay, so we have five guys that I think are lockdown. I mean, I saw Dak. I saw some quarterback rankings. I'll say it because I hate Were they able to any one in the room. No, they were on the athletic It was Jeff Howe. He had Dak Prescott ninth, and I'm just thinking, yeah, he's.

00:15:30
Speaker 3: Watching, he's watching numbers, he's watching formulas, and.

00:15:32
Speaker 2: Come on, the formulas are great for Dak Prescott.

00:15:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, and watching.

00:15:36
Speaker 2: And I think Dak Prescott's feelings were a little hurt when everyone was kind of like, oh, it's so great to see real ball back with Philip Rivers, you know, calling everything and changing and like this is how this is how football used to be. It's like, how about Dak Prescott. Bro, that's our generations? Poor Man's Peyton Manning.

00:15:52
Speaker 4: Here we go so what are we doing about the injuries?

00:15:55
Speaker 2: Now it gets more interesting. Okay, we have five people on the island. Does anyone want to nominate someone from the ten people that were on the island previously to be kicked off? It could be an injury guy, could be anyone.

00:16:13
Speaker 7: Yeah, well Jordan rolls Patrick Mahomes off the island.

00:16:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, Patrick, he's out.

00:16:17
Speaker 6: He's injured. And and I will say there's been, there's been. I've been following the quarterback island debate a lot of times. I get either tagnant or scent it and I love it. By the way, keep that up. That's awesome. I love that all the time. You could make some argument that even before the injury, Patrick Mahomes was not consistently playing like up to the automatic status, Like there should have at least been a conversation about Patrick Mahomes entering before the injury. Now he's off to me because he's hurt, But you could we could have had the conversation.

00:16:51
Speaker 2: There is there is like some wig room with the injury stuff. We left Lamar Jackson on. Controversially, last time around, Iatrick Mahomes was having an MVP caliber season, Like I think we would be talking about leaving him on, but he didn't, and I think that's a fair point.

00:17:07
Speaker 6: Also, we left Lamarn understanding there was maybe a week left before coming back.

00:17:13
Speaker 7: This is the end of it.

00:17:13
Speaker 2: But I just mean, if this is the end.

00:17:15
Speaker 6: Of the year Quarterback Island, he's not coming back this season, and he was kind of on the fringe before that. He is a quarterback who defines a generation. Absolutely, but for the purposes of this episode of Quarterback Island, he is off the island.

00:17:29
Speaker 4: So Patrick Mahomes is off the island.

00:17:31
Speaker 2: Well, we got to vote, Daniel Jones, let's vote on Patrick Mahomes. Oh yeah, I vote no.

00:17:36
Speaker 3: No, he's off the island.

00:17:38
Speaker 2: I vote no. I didn't think the second part of what you said, in terms of him being borderline, was almost as important as the injury, because I am putting myself in a place where he's having an MVP season, MVP caliber. Let's say he was kind of like Carson Wentz, you know, in that one season, or maybe even Derek Carr in that one season where he gets hurt late, or Patrick Mahomes. Let's say in one of his MVP seasons he got hurt here in Week four and fifteen. I think that would be a conversation. But yeah, it's crazy. He was playing some of the worst football in his career right before Hi. Even though he's.

00:18:10
Speaker 8: Of his career was a high standard, but he still was like basically leading them and rushing and everything else.

00:18:14
Speaker 3: Yes, well, so let's not just look at the passing number.

00:18:17
Speaker 2: He was still playing at a high level. Okay, you mentioned Daniel Jones. I know this hurts, but yes, that's an idea.

00:18:23
Speaker 5: I'm so sad for the whole situation in Indy. I saw your thank you with Carly, thank you so much. Yeah, everyone should check it out.

00:18:35
Speaker 2: Her say Gordon at the Athletics.

00:18:38
Speaker 6: Yes, wrote a profile, fretted a lot over it. Honored to write it.

00:18:42
Speaker 7: It was awesome.

00:18:43
Speaker 2: We might hit a little more on the previous show. I think that's it's a good time for it. When we're talking Colts. It's it will be remembered though that Daniel Jones played well enough to be on the island for half of this season.

00:18:54
Speaker 8: So well, which which goes counter to the argument Patrick has made the first ten games of the year to dope.

00:18:59
Speaker 2: Bad matter, but it matters to us. Okay, So there are three other players that are on the island with who we could table for now on it. Look, Lamar Jackson, Sam Darnold and Jordan Love that we haven't talked about Jordan.

00:19:17
Speaker 3: Love's gotta go? WHOA tell us why gotta go?

00:19:21
Speaker 8: I mean, I don't think he's been great. You know me, I've always been on the fence with Jordan Love. He's incredibly gifted, but he's never done anything where I'm like, WHOA, that's that guy. Okay, then he gets crushed a couple of weeks though, so he hasn't played in a couple weeks.

00:19:36
Speaker 3: He has not.

00:19:36
Speaker 8: When I look at some of the other people that could go on, he doesn't belong ahead of them. Well, we can get to them later. But that's more of my argument. We could talk about the arm strength, We could talk about this and that. Since you reduced it to eight, Greg and he wears number ten, I don't know if I would have put him on it was ten.

00:19:53
Speaker 2: I I want to table him for now because I want to compare him to some of the other people. Where I would push back on you would be the moments that make you say wow, that bears game. To start out, he was playing outstanding. Okay, the week before against the Lions, he was playing incredible football. I think in terms of when we put him on the island, and it was very close. We weren't sure the stats would have him in the top three or four in terms of success. Right epa play all that he was right on the borderline, and then right after I think he went on a heater after and I felt great about putting him on. So the fact that he gets hurt here with a concussion, that he's going to be back for the playoffs and everything, and he was playing great, I just want to compare him to other people and maybe just hold off for now.

00:20:40
Speaker 6: Okay, I think he had a fair to table him. I think there are two truths in both of these positions that you guys have taken. One being that I do think that it kind of hurts Jordan Love's case a little bit for the last few weeks to go out and see Malik Willis playing the way that he did just gorgeous football. And then also to Greg's point, the ceilings for Jordan Love are higher than almost any quarterback in the league. And it's to me, it's like when you see the highs your your.

00:21:11
Speaker 2: Big eye roll here from White.

00:21:12
Speaker 3: Well, that's because the guys wasn't on them, so I had to.

00:21:15
Speaker 2: Tell the audience. It's like the audio medium.

00:21:18
Speaker 3: Not saying that.

00:21:19
Speaker 8: But for the guys, the guys I think we should suggest to possibly going over him.

00:21:23
Speaker 3: Their ceilings are higher.

00:21:24
Speaker 8: Okay, that's why I mean again, I hate not hating, but I am hating.

00:21:30
Speaker 6: But that's the other thing too. That's why I love about Quarterback Island. To be clear, that's that is part of the magic of Quarterback Island is that we're not We're not taking these like really uh like antagonistic positions about these players. This is a fun place to discuss all of it and the range of opinions, and that's what I love it.

00:21:51
Speaker 7: We're not ranking them, Greg Let's I.

00:21:53
Speaker 2: Mean, we're not ranking them. It's the guys who are defining the season. Jordan Love he's kind of coming and out. He's been in a lot of big moments. Unfortunately the pack on a.

00:22:01
Speaker 4: Fourth quarter like game winning drives for him too.

00:22:05
Speaker 2: Okay, let's put a couple right. Okay, Well, Lamar Lamar Jackson. I actually don't think is gonna be a hard conversation to me. Patrick, Mahomes had a much better case to stay on the island for how he was staying.

00:22:20
Speaker 6: So if we voted Mahomes, office is frustraight those it feels real weird to do it.

00:22:25
Speaker 7: But I know just the same as same as Mahomes.

00:22:28
Speaker 2: But and he he might play in week eighteen Lamar Jackson, as we're taping this, we don't know. But for him, I think it's even more clear than Mahomes that he was not playing at his No, Mahomes is still like, for instance, if you look at QBR, like Momes is fifth on the season, like he was not having a bad statistical season and eye eyeballs for about ten weeks he was playing well. Lamar was never really right after he came back. So maybe we made a mistake keeping him on. But that's what you do with all time Green.

00:22:56
Speaker 3: I know, I know he's he's got to go.

00:22:59
Speaker 2: Okay, he's off. We've made a lot of room. Look at this, we've made a lot of room. We've kicked four people off the island. Do we want to hold off on talking about Donald who feels like.

00:23:11
Speaker 3: Why is he on the board.

00:23:12
Speaker 2: He's a he's a on the fence.

00:23:14
Speaker 7: I don't think he's on the fence.

00:23:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, oh okay, Yeah, let's get this dive into it. Okay, let's dive into it, Colleen, Why don't you start?

00:23:24
Speaker 4: Okay?

00:23:25
Speaker 5: I think that Sam Donald, Yes, the turnovers really hurt him recently, but the fact that he has this team where they are and his connection with JSN is unreal.

00:23:37
Speaker 4: He's thrown some beautiful, beautiful we're looking at.

00:23:40
Speaker 5: One right now passes to him, and I think that his career he's seen a resurgence.

00:23:46
Speaker 4: I like him still on the island.

00:23:48
Speaker 5: You know that I'm a Sam Donald fan, but I don't know am I alone?

00:23:52
Speaker 3: I don't even know why we're talking about him being on the island. Yeah, oh wow, I'm no I do I put here?

00:24:02
Speaker 2: I think you could make an argument, but I probably am not gonna get there. He's not playing good, he's not playing like, he's not playing well. He's for the last five weeks they are winning with Sam Donald. I think to be on Quarterback Island, you got to be the reason because and I think it does bring up an interesting question for this exercise, which is how much are we waiting the last four or five weeks versus the season overall, because we're going to talk about some guys who are finishing really strong. But to me, it's the last one of the year that the whole body of the work does matter. And that helps Darnald out because if we're talking about the last five weeks, I don't think he's even close to being on the island.

00:24:43
Speaker 6: I go full o the last five weeks, and for me, that does give Sam Donald full body of the season, gives him points. For me, however, I gave him even more of a leash here and went the last seven weeks. He is below h He's below Bryce Young, He's below Jacoby Brissett, He's below Baker Mayfield. He's playing terribly, terribly terrible football right now. He's below Spencer Rattler. In terms of EPA per drop back through that span, he's at negative point one to one EPA per dropback, nine touchdowns, nine interceptions, and he's not getting pressured a heck of a lot more than a lot of those other players. The thing is is, like, you guys know that, Like I love Sam Darnold in this offense, and I think he has the resilience that is needed at the position. And I think he's a perfect fit for what the Seahawks are trying to do when he protects the football and it's just that that turnover to interception ratio. And like I said, I gave him a longer leash, even seven weeks, not just four. And for me, I just I could not quite get there in terms of waiting the overall body of work with a almost half the season at that point.

00:25:53
Speaker 8: I see some of that, but I mean I see some of the picture tipballs right.

00:25:57
Speaker 2: There, But he's that's a feature, not a bouve, like he is among the league leaders in tip balls. I'm glad you brought that up, Like that's something that he struggles with for whatever reason.

00:26:09
Speaker 3: Is he tipping them?

00:26:10
Speaker 2: I'm saying, like they maybe maybe he's staring down his receivers. Maybe it's predictable.

00:26:15
Speaker 8: Maybe they're not catching them.

00:26:18
Speaker 3: That could be part of the problem.

00:26:20
Speaker 2: A lot of them's at the at the line of scrimmage. He throws the ball into into traffic.

00:26:26
Speaker 8: I mean, I'm just saying, Look, I was I was at an incredible game against the Rams, whre he didn't play great in the first half and then once he got rolled with you.

00:26:33
Speaker 2: But that's that game is a good example because to me, he has two drives in that game and they won with him and he he made a great overtime drive, but he's only there. I don't want to make this the who's the quarterback on the best teams Island. I want it to be who's playing the best And they flashed the stat in that Panthers game where he did not play well in that game.

00:26:54
Speaker 3: He did not play well in that game.

00:26:56
Speaker 2: It's been a while where they said they are dead last in the NFL in third and long conversions, And to me, that's a that's a bit of a quarterback step, a.

00:27:03
Speaker 3: Quarterback issue a lot of it's a big part of that office last. It's a big part of that offensive scheme.

00:27:07
Speaker 8: You can talk about the Kyle Shanahan like they can't come from behind and things like that because of that scheme unless you get to make sure and your explosives.

00:27:13
Speaker 5: Well, okay, So for me, I'm now looking at Jordan Love versus Sam Darnold in terms of who stays well.

00:27:21
Speaker 3: There's also some other guys.

00:27:24
Speaker 2: So it sounds it sounds right now like Colleen and Steve are yes and Jordan and I are a no and so that is a natural table, and I think we're at a point here where actually we could do a natural break. It's actually time for our news of the day. And that news, of course is for the first time in QB Island history. Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are no longer on the island. So thank you for your service. Josh Allen, you know, and Herbert might be the only two like long term.

00:27:58
Speaker 6: Throwing throw it on a social graph.

00:28:01
Speaker 2: Let's take a quick break and we'll come back. We'll talk about some of the people that might be joining our island residents. Back on Quarterback Island, I said it was going to be tough during the break because I started looking at these names. Yeah, these young men who have played fantastic this year. We're gonna have to leave some people off. And you said, that's why it's Quarterback Island, Jordan. It's tough.

00:28:35
Speaker 7: It's tough.

00:28:36
Speaker 6: It's agonizing, you guys, but that's that's part of getting to the island is making that swim.

00:28:41
Speaker 4: It's not supposed to be easy, Okay.

00:28:42
Speaker 3: So you know how to still waters around the island.

00:28:45
Speaker 6: I will mention some people remember, remember, yeah, all every single one of.

00:28:50
Speaker 7: US four has the riptide available to us.

00:28:53
Speaker 6: What is the riptide is when one person at least you use the right name for at this time. The rip is when a person can autonomously decide to rip one player off of quarterback island without putting it to a vote, and it is done. However, the group must then decide who they can replace that player on quarterback. But you cannot have no control. That's the rip tide.

00:29:20
Speaker 2: Don't hold it for don't piss me off or anyone else?

00:29:25
Speaker 7: Can you use yours already? Greg?

00:29:27
Speaker 2: That was last year. I didn't understand the rules.

00:29:29
Speaker 6: Technically, and technically he used something he calls the rip chord, which I guess is a different thing.

00:29:35
Speaker 2: Right right, that's on you, you know riptide. It's it's very confusing. There's a lot of players who are obviously not going to be on the island, Like we don't need to talk about Brady Cook obviously, but just some notable quarterbacks I wanted to mention that I don't think are going to come up for a vote today. Tyler Shuck in the offensive Rookie of the Year mix, We're watching you watch us great Baker Mayfield obviously got kicked off last time. It's gotten worse since then. I don't think we need to talk about him. I don't Jalen Hurts got kicked off last time. He was the reason we did another episode, I think at the end of last year because he won the Super Bowl and everything and we were feeling bad about that. I don't think it's a hard conversation. He's an obvious no right now. And so those are just a couple of the notable knows that Joey Burrow too, well, Okay, let's let's go to Joe Burrow. I think Joe Burrow is interesting because it's like, I'm not nominating him, but I'm not not nominated him because I do want to think about being consistent for everyone here. If you look at the last five weeks in any statistical measure, yeah, he's in the top five basically in advanced stats and counting stats. I don't need to go through them all. And if we're gonna potentially put some people onto quarterback Island based on how they're playing, you know, primarily in the last five weeks in the season, I think Trevor Lawrence and brock Perty are going to be interesting names that come up. Then then at least I think trying to be consistent. It's not It's not crazy to think about Joe Burrow.

00:31:12
Speaker 3: So why wouldn't you say shuck?

00:31:14
Speaker 2: Why would they chuck? It's not at that level of Okay, okay.

00:31:20
Speaker 6: I will see in terms of EPA per dropback, I'm unqualified passers. When I'm in my weeks ten to seventeen framework. Right now, Tyler Shuck is outside of the top ten and we're doing eight. Obviously, Joe Burrow is a fifth. Oh, he's killing it in terms of qualified players.

00:31:39
Speaker 2: Now is he defining is he defining the position? I think he takes a pretty big negative in that he's missed most of the season. I think that is part of that and the bigger the bigger one for me, it is why I probably am leaning, but I want to go through all the names to him off is that they did get it shut out one of those five weeks. If you've only played like five weeks that we're basing on and your team scored zero points in one of those five weeks, and in the biggest game of the season, even though you went crazy in the snow, you turn the ball over two times. At the very end. Then it makes it harder, like he would have had to maybe be so exceptional m VP level.

00:32:18
Speaker 6: He would have had to have a little more rule of cool with him too. I think making those plays in the snow, I'm not voting him on. I'm saying no to Joe Burrow. Look forward to it next year.

00:32:28
Speaker 4: Okay on the island.

00:32:30
Speaker 5: If he didn't miss so much of the season because of the sample size that we have from him and knowing what he's done before, but even after he came back from the injury, he's played really well.

00:32:39
Speaker 4: But I think it's just missed too much.

00:32:41
Speaker 3: Is this gonna make Joe Moore melancholy?

00:32:43
Speaker 2: Oh no, it is true.

00:32:45
Speaker 7: Think of his feeling.

00:32:46
Speaker 2: I mean they they did get shut out, like immediately after. He was really sad, which is not quarter of the world. Okay, I love all right, We did vote no.

00:32:57
Speaker 4: Does anyone someone go on?

00:33:00
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:33:00
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:33:00
Speaker 2: Please?

00:33:01
Speaker 4: How about mister brock Pert. We gotta be on this island.

00:33:05
Speaker 5: Since the Niners, since he returned, the Niners offense has lit up, and he's done so well multiple games now with five total touchdowns. He's good with his legs and his arm. I think that he's so efficient, like this is someone who should one hundred percent be on the island right now.

00:33:23
Speaker 6: He is one of the best perimeter passers. About that in the NFL right now. He also only trails Drake May in terms of EPA per dropback.

00:33:34
Speaker 8: He was always known as a kind of in the middle of the field type of passer. Now he's perimeter. He's moving the ball. But I mean, something Greg says all the time when he's talking about quarterback island defining the position. I don't know anyone who's playing the position better than him right now behind an offensive line that's rotating. He had George Kittle sometimes sometimes he has not. He's got Juwan Let it be known, Jenny.

00:33:58
Speaker 3: That he's throwing the ball to.

00:34:01
Speaker 4: You know, I just said it last night on the Free Game Show.

00:34:03
Speaker 5: I said something about Juwan Jennings and he said, let it be known, and I stopped dead because I was like, yes, And then I was like, oh, it's a joke.

00:34:11
Speaker 4: I get the joke now, damn it. And now there's just silence. Hold on, let me.

00:34:14
Speaker 3: Keep going, you know.

00:34:16
Speaker 2: But I mean, he's just I mean, you could say ho on NFL daily maybe not.

00:34:20
Speaker 3: I'm saying Shelby Harris did Yeah. I just think the fact that Shelby was great.

00:34:24
Speaker 8: And saying let it be know like four different ways, like when he makes it play like letting you know Juwan Jennings making a play let.

00:34:31
Speaker 2: If you know, Johan Jennings is one of the best supporting actors of this season. Absolutely so Shelby, Harris and Brock.

00:34:38
Speaker 8: You know, look, Brock's got the dougie going on, which he showed he's doing a dougie, but I don't.

00:34:42
Speaker 3: It's to me. Look at Brock.

00:34:44
Speaker 8: I mean the last three games, love and love and touchdown passes, he unders haven't lost.

00:34:50
Speaker 6: He's doing it's yeah, five interceptions on the season.

00:34:53
Speaker 2: He's doing it like in in big moments you're you're watching him, he's he's giving you the wow fa. He is defining the position. The only argument that I think you could have against him is the playing time that like he's still played less than mac Jones's yeah, you know, which is crazy. And that's why I thought we had to talk Burrow, because if we're gonna give Purdy, if we're gonna put perty on, they've played around the same amount of time, and so you at least have to think about Burrow if we're willing to accept it. But ultimately one seed to ultimately, I'm with you, guys. I think he's a yes.

00:35:26
Speaker 6: And let me correct myself. Nine interceptions on the season still yes to me when I was looking at my ten to seventeen parameters, right.

00:35:32
Speaker 8: And that's what he's and that's who he's got six sixteen and sixteen and five in that run.

00:35:36
Speaker 2: And I think I think he's better than he was when he was an MVP candidate and sort of had the same moment that Matthew Stafford had on Primetime and lost in a big spot to lose the MVP. We are yes on rock Perty. I thought that would be tricky.

00:35:50
Speaker 7: You seem to have come into the show with a lot of thoughts.

00:35:54
Speaker 2: I just made a list. I thought he'd be a great switch here.

00:35:58
Speaker 4: It's a real change from how you normal and you are dealing with.

00:36:01
Speaker 3: A fairly favorable Brock Party crowd right here too.

00:36:04
Speaker 2: That's fair Okay.

00:36:06
Speaker 4: So now there's six spots.

00:36:07
Speaker 2: Six spots taken, and you could always, you know, change your mind as we go, but there's six spots taken. I mean I'm saying we always said, like we have we got tied, Yeah, yeah we could, or if we had nine on, like we could eventually decide to kick someone just because I respect him and I want him to mention him on this show. Since we've kicked Jared GoF off, he's actually played better. Yes, And if we're just recognizing great quarterback play for this season, I think the first eight to ten weeks hurt him a little bit. Don't think it was one of his best seasons. For the last four or five weeks, he's been outstanding. He's been what outstanding I know, not against Minnesota on Christmas that probably got him off. Before that, I think it was one of the best four game stretches of his entire career. And they've lost games. And that's why, like quarterback is not about. I think he's showing he can do it when it's not great around him. Until that Minnesota game.

00:37:03
Speaker 3: That's I would be.

00:37:04
Speaker 2: I think he was like individually kind of grading his performance every week. I think he was on a heater and he was playing well.

00:37:12
Speaker 8: I guess I just need to play play better stretches, which was how good of a player he that he is?

00:37:17
Speaker 3: And then again that Minnesota game.

00:37:18
Speaker 2: The Minnesota game, an impossible chance of making it onto an eight. No, that's a no for Jared Goff, but just wanted to give him the respect of getting voted on. Can I please do it?

00:37:30
Speaker 7: The flaw is yours is a panel A one Trevor.

00:37:35
Speaker 4: Oh Laurence ezy, Yeah, he's listened.

00:37:38
Speaker 6: Defining the way the position is played this year, defining the story of the quarterback this year, defining a team that is uh exceeding expectations, and and and a playoff team, and a team that is rolling right now and is really clicking in that offense after a little bit of an up and down and consistent start, really really fun to watch, has great skill guys around him, getting help from a run game, getting help from an offensive line. Sure, but Trevor Lawrence is also making things happen. He's not making that one catastrophic decision per game that tanks the game. He's actually he's lifting the floor of this offense quite well. You know, I said it after one of the best games I've ever seen and play, probably the best game I've ever seen play in his career a couple of weeks ago. Trevor Lawrence, the playoffs are in the distance. But first up is quarterback Freakin Island Welcome.

00:38:30
Speaker 8: I would agree, and I tell you the playoffs teams are not afraid of Jacksonville right now. They will be, yeah, because they're killing on both sides of the ball. But Clemson Trevor is the reason why we saw We saw Clemson Trevor early in the season against Denver on Monday Night. And now he has really dialed it up. And this is where James Gladstone the new GM by getting to Kobe Myers. It almost is like, Okay, now, Trevor's kind of like, I've got five or six guys you throw the ball to. I don't have to, folks. Brian Thomas Junior is the one player. We don't talk about them. We don't talk about much because you got Parker Washington, Traves CTN. You know, uh, the tight ended Brent Strange. I mean, I'm Strange.

00:39:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, yeah, yeah, you got it.

00:39:09
Speaker 8: But he's spreading the ball out. It's no longer you've got to I got to get the ball to this guy or that guy. It is like the world has opened up to Clemson Trevor. Nine rushing touchdowns too.

00:39:20
Speaker 4: That's what I was gonna say he's not.

00:39:21
Speaker 5: He's using his legs too and not really turning over the ball. I know he had one turnover one interception this past game, but otherwise really clean football.

00:39:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, your your eyes were lighting up just with him with Steve talking Trevor Lawrence. We've got some big Lawrence fans here. I am leaning famously, I have not often and I'm leaning yes, But I do just want to make sort of the point that if he's on, it's it's just for the last five weeks. Because he wasn't, he would be below average for the first talk this season. So it is recognizing I think that you can be so hot late in the season and he playing like as well as any quarterback in football, that it's so exceptional that you just have to put him on because numbers wise, it's this was kind of surprising to me. So I went through five numbers just to have sort of a blanket of like, okay, just what's their profile statistically? Yeah, and season long, and this is QBR DEPA for play at success rate, it's completion percentage over expected, and then it's PFF PFF, which is more subjective. That's the only spot where he's even in the top ten. They have him tenth on a play to play basis just pure numbers. The other ones are nineteenth, seventeenth, fourteenth, and then twenty eighth and completion percentage over expected because he's not always that accurate there. He is an average quarterback if you take the whole season and bucket his stats. That also is not really you know, including rushing, which is a big factor for him. But it's just something to point out that he is a really unique case if we're putting him up.

00:40:53
Speaker 6: Yes, and I think that's all fair to point out. And it also is fair to say that when you turn on his tape and you see some of the throws that he has made, including some of the out of structure plays sending throws, and when you also do see him use his legs in factor that into the equation, which we have done so for other quarterbacks who have been on the quarterback.

00:41:14
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you have to QBR by the way he does. I misspoke there.

00:41:17
Speaker 6: I would I would say, like the the highs of this stretch that he's on right now completely lift the rest of the season.

00:41:26
Speaker 2: I would I agree.

00:41:27
Speaker 8: I vote yes, and and real quick on one last thing on the Jags.

00:41:31
Speaker 3: While we're voting, We're all voting.

00:41:32
Speaker 2: Yes, Trevor Lawrence is on QB Island.

00:41:36
Speaker 3: There we go.

00:41:36
Speaker 8: Now, first up, did anybody look like more like an Island guy than trust Child Cod?

00:41:42
Speaker 3: But can we get over the small market thing?

00:41:44
Speaker 8: Because they are London's team. London is a large market. Shod con one of his recruits. This is a conversation I've had with Shod. One of his recruiting elements to players is come work for us. We can get you on billboards over in London. You can be the the the American football MESSI oh, okay, so you can be all.

00:42:04
Speaker 2: On the Yeah.

00:42:05
Speaker 6: I don't buy the small market team thing either, but I do love how. I do love how Duvall, like Jacksonville fan embraced Liam cohen Is because he he will never miss a moment to be petty. And I mean that as a compliment, like he will not miss a moment in the fan base is all dying for it. And I love it for them because he's got the one liners and he just goes for it and it is It's awesome.

00:42:29
Speaker 7: He gives no f's Florida.

00:42:31
Speaker 2: Man, they've been averaging over thirty points a game since since that buy where he really turned things around. And yeah, they've they've won twelve games. They're one of the stories of the season. He's on we only have one spot.

00:42:42
Speaker 3: Can I come up with my perpetual landmine guy?

00:42:45
Speaker 6: Then?

00:42:47
Speaker 2: B Nix? Okay, I'm so glad you brought him up. Bonix.

00:42:51
Speaker 3: Okay, you talk about a guy going on a heater. He had about a three or four week run where he was killing it.

00:42:54
Speaker 8: His team is winning, then he keeps doing this, Oh my gosh, he's playing like crap for two quarters and then he kills it.

00:43:00
Speaker 3: On the final drive.

00:43:02
Speaker 8: When we're looking at some of these other people on here, including a guy like Jordan Love is on the fence, do you say, like Boenix is doing it for a team that's number one seed right now and they're winning more so because of him.

00:43:16
Speaker 3: He's not losing them ball games, right.

00:43:18
Speaker 2: Are they're winning because of him?

00:43:21
Speaker 3: Well, they're they're winning because of their defense.

00:43:22
Speaker 2: Are they winning with him?

00:43:24
Speaker 8: And so that to me is like I would say, I would say this though, he's making the plays when they have to make him in compliments to the defense.

00:43:33
Speaker 3: That's why I'm saying, I don't think we can ignore him.

00:43:35
Speaker 8: He's I don't think he's got the numbers, not just wins and losses, He's got the rushes. He does things to put defenses in conflict all over the place. You know, you're saying to yourself, Okay, he's as good as Josh alln't know, not right now, but I mean we can't. I don't think we can move forward without having a conversation as to whether he belongs in the final eight.

00:43:56
Speaker 6: Absolutely, And he says what it's going to come down to for me with quarterback Island because I wouldn't put Bryce Young on there. We hadn't talked about him yet, obviously, Philip Rivers, I mean, no, fun, Well, I'm talking about people I haven't no, I think not yet. Yeah, we haven't mentioned, but no, we're not. We're not talking about any of these people.

00:44:14
Speaker 2: I think we only have one more guy, Caleb Williams that hasn't been mentioned. That would be a serious.

00:44:19
Speaker 8: Discuss and you know, and on that note, just what we can mention is CJ. Shroud would be a no for all this.

00:44:24
Speaker 3: Correct.

00:44:24
Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean he's had his moments, but he just hasn't been and that's.

00:44:27
Speaker 7: What I was about to say.

00:44:28
Speaker 6: For me, it comes down to who was on the island between Bonix and Caleb Williams. That's what it comes down.

00:44:35
Speaker 2: Okay, that's a legit.

00:44:36
Speaker 3: I love that.

00:44:37
Speaker 2: To me, Darnold or Love, especially Love have a stronger case to me than Bonix. So my case against Bonix, Okay, you say he's got the stats, but he doesn't have the stats. And that's that's important to me because I did that profile of of the like all the different metrics, bonis thirteenth and QBR sixteenth, EPA seventeenth, success rate, twenty fourth, completion percentage over expected seventeenth PFF, and that reflects how I feel watching football every week. If I'm slotting in all the quarterbacks and who's doing exceptional things, who's helping, who's not, He to me is somewhere in that fourteen to seventeen.

00:45:16
Speaker 3: You can't put Caleb on range. You can't put them.

00:45:18
Speaker 2: On I think Caleb will be an interesting talk too, But the difference that Caleb has I think at least over bo if I'm comparing those two, Although putting my cards on the table, I think I think Love or Darnold would be better picks than either one. I think Caleb has defined the season and like because of the plays that he's made, because of the wow factor, because of the moments that Bo's been great. But Bo hasn't had those moments. And to me, I'm knocking him for the first half of the season too, where he.

00:45:45
Speaker 8: He has to have those moments. That's when they won the ball games. When he's making those moments. I mean, Caleb's not completing sixty percent of his passes.

00:45:52
Speaker 4: The game against the Giants is like such a that's a moment.

00:45:56
Speaker 2: That's a big moment, a moment, it's a big moment.

00:45:59
Speaker 7: The story.

00:45:59
Speaker 2: I think he needed to have like a Trevor like run to make up for his first half. And to me, he hasn't been at that level.

00:46:05
Speaker 8: Like, yeah, he had like three games where he was three hundred plus in a row.

00:46:09
Speaker 4: He has thrown for a lot of housing yards.

00:46:11
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, go he like up until last week, he was rolling about a month.

00:46:16
Speaker 2: Right, But do you think he like I think that's a good example the Jacksonville game for instance, Like he throws for over three hundred yards in that game. Do you think like that's a QB Island performance that was kind of to me a QB island off and Trevor when when's that?

00:46:32
Speaker 3: I mean they got I think they got dominated every phase in that game.

00:46:34
Speaker 8: I think as a team. But you know again, when when I look at Caleb, who I love and I would would.

00:46:40
Speaker 3: I would love to get him on the island, let's talk about him.

00:46:44
Speaker 8: But I was saying, based on your arguments what you were just saying against bow and Nicks, and you can't put Caleb in that conversation.

00:46:49
Speaker 2: If you're using that as the crustion, I'm not that is not the only one for me. But I think if it's supporting what I'm seeing, I'm using stats, I'm using define the position sixth gear. Now I'm saying, you got to he would be a guy to me that would have to make up for and stat's what he's lacking in sort of eye test.

00:47:07
Speaker 6: I think the story of who Caleb Williams has become as the franchise quarterback of that team, and the way that he has has continued to thrive in the most unlikely moments is something that dramatically lifts the stat sort of truth to me. I also think that Bo Nicks for similarly, you know, same second second year quarterback, same kind of thing bo Nicks, the way he runs this offense, and the way you can tell between play caller quarterback the minute that Sean Payton in game takes the training wheels off and lets him go when those types of things, when they're on again. The ceiling is is higher than many of the quarterbacks on the island. So that's what I'm kind of stuck on. Caleb William's ceiling is making miracles happen.

00:48:03
Speaker 3: He's insane.

00:48:03
Speaker 6: Bon Nix's ceiling and but in flashes right, it making miracles happen in miracle improbability moments. Bon Nix His ceiling is games like a couple of weeks ago, when you know he's he's throwing from multiple touchdowns and Sean Payton is just letting him cook all up and down the field to Courtland Sutton. So that's where I'm stuck, truly between these two. And I know we've tabled it, and what I you know, what I meant to point out earlier, I wanted to point out, Yes, I know we've tabled Jordan Love and Sam Donald, but these two second year quarterbacks, they are defining the position.

00:48:38
Speaker 3: I would agree with that.

00:48:39
Speaker 5: I think with Bonix he's just been too up and down for me, it hasn't been as consistent of a rise and as steady of a development as we've seen with Caleb Williams. So for me, that's not what that's puts Caleb over Bonett.

00:48:54
Speaker 8: You know, Here's it's crazy, it sounds and it's very surface based. But Klebs is more fun to watch too.

00:49:00
Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I think that should That's why Jordan Loved Me gets a bonus because to me he is I find he makes the wow throw.

00:49:09
Speaker 3: I don't find him very amusingly fun to.

00:49:11
Speaker 2: Watch yet amusing.

00:49:15
Speaker 3: He's not the thrill ride since I did it before.

00:49:18
Speaker 2: I just saw.

00:49:18
Speaker 6: Steve's dad face for the first like he was like type Actually, I'm not very I'm not very amused by you missing perfew.

00:49:27
Speaker 7: Yeah, like I just saw for the first time. It's incredible.

00:49:32
Speaker 2: That's incredible. I think even that were like strongly considering Caleb for a top eight spot, which I am.

00:49:39
Speaker 3: I am.

00:49:39
Speaker 2: I love he lies these numbers, but I do want to bring him up because I think that other stuff has to be so exceptional to put this into context, and some of this is from the first half. Like Bonix, I think he's playing his best down the stretch. H But in all those stats, kind of just going through them. Sixteenth QBR, fifteenth THPA, pri play twenty eighth, success rate second to asked and completion percentage over expected, which tracks like he misses throws you expect him to make and he makes it throws you don't drop a ton of and then fifteenth in PFF. So none of them like there isn't really a great statistical argument for killed. It's all the other spots, which is which is significant, which is significant.

00:50:21
Speaker 7: That's part of Quarterback Island. I know I'm now, but here's the thing. We also still have to talk about Sam and Jordan.

00:50:28
Speaker 2: Yes, because.

00:50:31
Speaker 7: Four guys one spot.

00:50:33
Speaker 2: Four guys one spot. Does anyone want to just go out right now and at least just say who is your guy out of those four to put on? To put on right now? Because I think that's what this season finale is coming down to. Frank, I'll go first, because none of us have any questions about the seven guys that are on right now compared to these four right I would love.

00:50:57
Speaker 3: To put Kayleb Williams on I think I think he's rolling right now in this offense. Something I just said that when you watch the Bears play, you can take all this sense. Look at how many passes his guys drop.

00:51:10
Speaker 8: His numbers could be better, his wow factor could be better, Maybe their win total could be better.

00:51:16
Speaker 3: If you have some guys who consistently hung on to the ball.

00:51:18
Speaker 5: Well, jaday Walker, if he caught that ball, which he did the game before and was the hero, and also he had like hardly played.

00:51:27
Speaker 2: Let's be real though, like he's just not as accurate as these other quarterbacks. Yes, I wouldn't check that he does have a lot of drops. You know who has the most actually Bo Nicks. Yeah, Trevor Lawrence has the most. Bo Nix's second and Caleb is third.

00:51:38
Speaker 6: So it's however, weeks ten through seventeen, my parameters, Caleb Williams has thrown the fewest interceptions of any quarterback in qualifying.

00:51:48
Speaker 2: He prevents negative plays better than any of these quarterbacks on the edge in terms of sack avoidance and interception the ball. Yeah, so it's a nice combo of like flash and not making huge mistakes other than missing gimmes sometimes like.

00:52:05
Speaker 3: That he has, Like there are a couple of throws that.

00:52:08
Speaker 2: Forty nine Ers game that he wants back for all the great throws that he makes, but that's been part of the experience.

00:52:13
Speaker 7: I do love all of these guys.

00:52:15
Speaker 6: I think at least two of them were talking about qualities that we love in quarterbacks too, which is resilience, Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, late game scenarios, Sam Darnold, resilience. I don't know necessarily that now. The thing about the Broncos is situationally. Overall they've won close games. They've done so by navigating and by his in part, but the collective as a whole ability to close these games out and win they're close, or.

00:52:42
Speaker 2: Set the best line or set up yeah, or.

00:52:46
Speaker 6: Set up the game winning field good, great defense, ask great either that's fair?

00:52:51
Speaker 5: Do you He's so close to becoming the Bears first franchise quarterbacks throw for four thousand yards.

00:52:58
Speaker 4: I cannot believe that.

00:52:59
Speaker 2: That's never how I came into this liking Jordan Love. And if you guys were in on Jordan Love, I would be in on Jordan Love too, because I I do just think he's played the position at a higher level consistently than Caleb Williams. But you you guys, have you guys have kind of convinced me. I just hate the fact that he took a shot, you know, and getting knocked out with the concussion might be the deciding factor here. But I think in the spirit of what we're talking about QB Island wise of like defining the position in that little something extra the land, yap, maybe it is Caleb, unless unless I have.

00:53:37
Speaker 4: I'm all about Caleb.

00:53:39
Speaker 3: So who's coming off?

00:53:40
Speaker 2: Okay, so let's vote Caleb Williams. I vote yes, he's on. Halleen will votes yes, he is on.

00:53:47
Speaker 6: I vote yes as well for Caleb Williams, quarterback, who I believe is among the top players defining the position this season.

00:53:55
Speaker 2: Yes, I think we've done it. We have to formally, we have to hate that we do this. I hate that this happens. But the Governor's Council, who I report to, who actually funds all of Quarterback Island, they require that we officially do vote off the two guys. But no, we don't have anything. Unless I'm crazy. We have eight guys on QB Island and we have to officially vote no on Sam Donald.

00:54:22
Speaker 4: Bye, Bro, I could still Oh yeah.

00:54:25
Speaker 2: I like what you did there. Colleen is going yes, okay.

00:54:29
Speaker 4: I see.

00:54:31
Speaker 6: If it was still ten, if there were still ten, I'd put Jordan and then Bo still on.

00:54:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, I would, I would put Donald. I would put Donald ahead of them. I would put Love in Donald. But let's vote officially on Jordan Love. I vote no. It's all and no, and that's done it. Play the music. I don't know what music. We don't have. Celebratory just one moment that happened, Simon. You don't need to play us out. You had me. I thought she was gonna use it on Drake May. No, She's just like I just love Stafford so much. You know that Jordan was watching that game Monday night and be like, I can't believe this is happening.

00:55:22
Speaker 6: I think that's the first time I've ever actually make made Greg like just a little, just a little question.

00:55:27
Speaker 2: That was a good We were like, let's name the official residence of quarterback Island season finale, we think season two, Josh Allen, congratulations the consistency over the last two years. You deserve it. Dak Prescott, great job. Justin Herbert didn't even have to debate it Drake May and Matthew Stafford, two men who will discuss on many future NFL dailies, I'm sure in terms of the m VP conversation, and then voted onto the Island today can congratulations to Brock Purty back on the island. Started the year there. We might have forgotten, but started the year there. Trevor Lawrence first time.

00:56:08
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Quarterback Island.

00:56:10
Speaker 4: I love the Island.

00:56:11
Speaker 2: Liam Cohen is kind of a QB Island kingmaker right now. He did it for Baker, he did it for Trevor. And then another one is Ben Johnson, who helped Jared goff out certainly and now him and Caleb Williams. Wow, beautiful Spars fans. You can't say we're haters anymore.

00:56:30
Speaker 3: Market Island for Trevor.

00:56:33
Speaker 2: That is it for today's Quarterback Island. Thank you to Colleen Wolf, Steve Weisch and Jordan Rodrigue. We will be back on Wednesday with a big pre new show. We can't top this though. We should just quit quit.

00:56:47
Speaker 3: Now while we're a Happy New Year.

00:56:49
Speaker 2: By the way, Happy New Year
