00:01:04
Speaker 3: Good morning.

00:01:04
Speaker 2: If you're watching on Peacock, Thank you for downloading the app and listening to our radio affiliates around the country.

00:01:10
Speaker 3: By the way, today is the.

00:01:13
Speaker 2: Day that you can announce that you're in the transfer portal. It's going to open up next Tuesday. The current projection is eleven hundred men's basketball players will enter the portal next Tuesday. This according to a source, So that equates to the rosters of nearly one hundred Division one basketball teams.

00:01:39
Speaker 3: Sure, now stall of a day, stant a day, start of a day.

00:01:45
Speaker 4: Still have a day.

00:01:47
Speaker 3: This is the style of the day.

00:01:54
Speaker 2: It's yearly free agency. But next Tuesday the portal opens for business and the current projection of what I have from my source is eleven hundred men's basketball players will be in the portal. Now, the other story with college basketball is the official who was involved in the Dan Hurley moment at the end of the game, Roger airs he is not going to be refereeing in the Final four. Now, I've been back and forth with my source at the NCUBA on this and he is suggesting, now there's no reporting on this, there's no information on this, but he says I think at most the nc DOUBLEA opted out of using Roger as a temperature cooling option, a distraction that is unneeded because you get graded in the tournament. And from what my source is saying that he doesn't think that he was downgraded, but he's going to give the benefit of the doubt. So he doesn't think that this is something that because of you know, the moment there, that if he didn't tee up Dan Hurley, that cost him an opportunity to referee in the final four, which he's done before. But you know, my source said yesterday the same thing that he thinks Airs wouldn't understand. You don't want to be a distraction here while you want to be in the final four. You don't want him to be doing the Yukon game because then that becomes a focal point, that becomes a side story every time out, every moment that official with Dan Hurley. So he said in his opinion, now once again his opinion, and it's a source that I have relied on a long time, and he is stating that this is in his opinion because they met on Monday, the NCAA the committee, and I'm sure it was discussed then. From what my source says, he was not in that meeting, but he said, you know, I know people who were and I'm sure that you know it comes up, but this is not something that Roger Ayres is not going to be in the Final four. But it's not because of that moment. Because if you keep him out of the Final four and it's because of his refereeing, then you're saying he should have teed up Dan Hurley. And my source said that is not the case because he even had the language in here. Let me see, he had a chapter in verse on what he was following. As far as Rule ten point two H says an unsporting class a technical should be assessed to a coach or player who disrespectfully contacts an official or makes a threat of physical intimidation or harm to include pushing, shoving, spitting, or attempting to make physical contact with an official. And my source says, this just isn't that, but he thinks that they are opting out of using as a temperature cooling option, a distraction that is unneeded for the Final four.

00:05:06
Speaker 3: I also saw this.

00:05:08
Speaker 2: The Ken Palm ratings that they go by when they're you know, seating teams. Saturday's semi final game between Michigan and Arizona will be a matchup between the third and fourth best Ken Palm ratings of all time. Number one is Duke nineteen ninety nine. Number two Duke twenty twenty five, Number three Michigan, number four Arizona. Number five is Duke back in two thousand and one. Stat of the day, Sat of the day, that beast stat of the day, stat of the day.

00:05:49
Speaker 5: Here it comes that what stat of the day?

00:05:54
Speaker 3: PAULI, do you have the Duke nineteen ninety nine team?

00:05:56
Speaker 5: I always have that on my computer.

00:05:58
Speaker 6: Dan, you know that Corey mcghetty, Elton Brand, Shane Battier, Trajan Langdon and even the bench has some names you might know. But those are five NBA players in the starting line.

00:06:09
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:06:09
Speaker 2: These are the all time ratings by Ken Palm. Duke and then Duke in twenty twenty five, olch Uh, Thennet's Michigan and then Arizona and then Duke, rounding out the top five. The one Duke team. Do you have that one as well, Paulin can you give me two thousand and one?

00:06:30
Speaker 3: Wow?

00:06:32
Speaker 2: Well, everybody keeps saying this is going to be for the championship, or it should be for the championship. Well, it's not. It's just to play for the championship.

00:06:39
Speaker 6: Yes, paul O One, Duke, Carlos Boozer, Chris Duhan, Jason Williams, Dante Jones, the transfer from Rutgers, remember him. Those are their starting lineup.

00:06:50
Speaker 3: All right.

00:06:51
Speaker 2: So Florio from the NFL meetings, Tom iselm Michigan state head coach Grand Hill, former Dukie, will join us as well. Tiger issued is sate yesterday saying he is stepping away. He didn't say golf, but that's implied that he's stepping away from golf related jobs, tasks, responsibilities, and he's gonna seek treatment here. So if you're watching on Peacock, we have the statement here. I'm not going to read the whole thing, but Tiger is now. I don't know if he goes away somewhere. I don't know how treatment works. You know a lot of famous people have been in treatment. Now obviously ultra famous like Tiger, but you know there have been movie stars who have been in rock stars who have been in there, politicians, you know, you name it, all walks of life. But I don't know if Tiger goes to a rehab facility. He's tried this before.

00:07:49
Speaker 3: But he pleaded.

00:07:52
Speaker 2: He didn't say no contest, did he'd say not guilty with the moment, the incident that he had with the car accident. So just some of the headlines. And then yesterday Italy failed to make the World Cup again. That's three consecutive World Cups that Italy has failed to make it just to qualify. So with the loss, Italy becomes the first former champ to miss out on three consecutive World Cups, with none of the team's current players ever having participated in the World Cup.

00:08:28
Speaker 7: Startup to day, Startup Today, stat of the Day, Start of the Day, Statu Today, Statu Today, startup Today, start.

00:08:40
Speaker 3: Stat of the Day.

00:08:41
Speaker 2: Brought to you by Panini America Oficial Trading cards to the Dan Patrick Show. While I reached out to a source with the NC DOUBLEA, so did Pauli. And my source doesn't work for the NC DOUBLEA, but he is affiliated with the NC DOUBLEA.

00:08:54
Speaker 3: I just want to make sure PAULI source.

00:08:57
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:08:58
Speaker 6: On Monday, the NCAA released their officials for the final four. In the final game, a number of media outlets reported yesterday headlines like Roger Airs won't ref in the final four. After the Dan Hurley exchange and insinuating that because of this he was pulled. We reached out to the NCAA and they got right back to us this morning. We asked if the incident with Hurley had any effect on Roger Air's status for the Final four. They said, quote, this had no bearing on the selection of the final four officials.

00:09:28
Speaker 3: Okay, none, and you my source backs that up.

00:09:31
Speaker 2: He even goes a step further to say, wouldn't be surprised if Airs took himself out of consideration because he didn't want to be a distraction. But just so people know, because there are a lot of media outlets, these are big time media outlets, and they make it sound like Roger Ayres was being punished and that he was being kept out of the final four. But all you got to do is get a hold of the NCAA to ask them all right, poll questions, Seaton, what are we going to go with? First hour of the program.

00:10:01
Speaker 4: Let's see if we're Are we allowed to ask this question?

00:10:05
Speaker 3: O boy?

00:10:06
Speaker 4: Okay, not trivializing anything.

00:10:08
Speaker 2: Shouldn't you be asking the question? Prior to asking the question.

00:10:12
Speaker 4: We have been Paul and I have been discussing can we actually do this or not without people going crazy.

00:10:21
Speaker 3: Who is having the worst week? Oh boy?

00:10:24
Speaker 4: Obviously Tiger Woods is not having a good week. Not trivializing anything that happened there. You know, whatever type of notice I have to give right now, trigger warning, I don't know what it is, not saying making light of it because it's in the bold question. Okay, these are people or groups of people that are having a bad week, full disclaimer. Tiger Woods clearly having a bad week, you know, in what I could consider the worst professional week of all time. Ctebe Buckner is having a horrible week.

00:10:54
Speaker 2: So he's the umpire and he is not a big fan of abs because.

00:11:02
Speaker 3: He's not a big fan of getting calls.

00:11:03
Speaker 2: Ready, apparently he's he's getting called out for not calling the right calls, yes, Paul.

00:11:09
Speaker 6: Over the course of the weekend, umpire Cebe Buckner had a couple games where he made a call and it was reviewed and went against him, and it played out on social media. He was a random umpire that I don't think most people knew, and he got a little famous.

00:11:23
Speaker 5: The past couple of days.

00:11:24
Speaker 6: Then he had a call last night where someone stepped on first base and he said the player did not, and he clearly did, and Buckner's in position to see it.

00:11:35
Speaker 5: It's hard to know what happened there.

00:11:36
Speaker 4: He could have that base on it, could have drop kicked first base, and it wouldn't have been more obvious that he stepped on first.

00:11:43
Speaker 2: It's one thing to screw up the balls and strikes, but they had him at first base and he screwed up over there.

00:11:50
Speaker 3: It's like, we got to find a place where we can hide him.

00:11:53
Speaker 8: Yes, Tod, And when do you step away versus being being fired by Major League Baseball? If you're realizing this keeps happening, you keep getting calls wrong. I know, it's your livelihood and you may have a family. You can't just walk away from a paycheck. But at some point you're going to really wait for Major base What to say you're done.

00:12:08
Speaker 5: This is terrible.

00:12:08
Speaker 2: You're not going to get fired. He's got a union behind him. They're not going to fire him. Now, they might take away assignments, but not going to fire him. I mean, there are umpires who made a career out of missing calls. So now you just have the automated balls and strikes, and there are a few umpires who are being called out because now we know your name, yes, tod Our umpires, do you.

00:12:35
Speaker 8: Think in general more annoyed or relieved by the ABS system?

00:12:38
Speaker 3: Because I think you can make both arguments, and what do you think?

00:12:41
Speaker 8: I think they're more annoyed by it, but I could totally understand being all life screw up. I'm not going to ruin the whole thing because they'll just change it to the right call and they won't come kill me on a call that could determine a playoff spot or something.

00:12:52
Speaker 3: Thank you, Tod. Yes, Paul.

00:12:55
Speaker 6: It's a weird thing because one random umpire has a bad weekend and it becomes the face of the entire system. It also proves it's working at the same time. But someone has to be, you know, take.

00:13:07
Speaker 5: The hit for it.

00:13:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, I understand it.

00:13:10
Speaker 2: I know the umpires are being embarrassed, but you know, as I pointed out yesterday, so is the guy who's there and that's strike three and it's a bad call, but you have to do the walk of shame back to the dugout. Nobody goes boy, that guy got embarrassed on a bad call. We know the umpires now they have to relearn the strike zone because everybody they allowed umpires to have their own interpretation of a strike zone, which is crazy. It should be here is the uniformity of it. This is it now, get used to it, and this is going to fast track, I think, to take it completely out of the umpire's hands that next year. That way, the umpire can you know, still be a hero. He can be back there and nobody's going to you know, test his credibility because these are balls and strikes that are automated, and everybody wins, then we have fun with it up on the screen. We're not calling time out, you know for a review. Everybody will win with this, yes, Ston.

00:14:07
Speaker 4: A sort of interesting side effect of the ABS is that, you know, take that call in the Brewers game last night where Stevie Buckner due clearly steps on first. He gets it horribly wrong. What you're expecting is the manager to come flying out of the dugout and tearing him into him because you can't fix the call. You can't fix it, it's just a bad call. And then you spend the next month pissed about that one bad call at first base. Remember that guy, how did they get that call wrong? And instead now it's fixed in ninety seconds.

00:14:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, because I was like, okay, well, let's go take a look at it. Replay. Oh okay, he did step on? All right, next play.

00:14:39
Speaker 2: If the goal is to get all the calls right, and you have the technology, then use the technology.

00:14:44
Speaker 4: It's not supposed to be used like that, like like what like that? I right, the goal is to get the calls right. That was There should be no reason for instant replay in that situation.

00:14:57
Speaker 2: No, you should, Yes, you're right, Yes, that's not one of those I don't know, Holy.

00:15:01
Speaker 4: Thank god, we got this system to get these calls right, because there's no way the human eye could have kept up with the speed of that play.

00:15:07
Speaker 3: You know, I don't know. That was bang bang yeah. I mean hey, I mean look, it's doing the best he can. Okay, you can do it. You can do better.

00:15:15
Speaker 5: Marvin stepping on first is not subjective.

00:15:18
Speaker 3: Like ah, I think he did.

00:15:22
Speaker 5: God, that was why.

00:15:23
Speaker 3: I know. I know you're watching and you're go, wait, what happened here?

00:15:26
Speaker 9: Like all right?

00:15:26
Speaker 4: Let me see, like you start, you know, you lean into your computer a little closerly.

00:15:29
Speaker 2: Let me see if he said, oh, yeah, yeah he did, yes, yes, I'm watching it again.

00:15:34
Speaker 6: It's almost like the Hurley thing. You're watching. You don't know what you're seeing. The second baseman throws well past first and the ball goes towards the dugout, but the first base umpire Buckner is six feet away from first base. The guy hits first base fully, not like toe or heel, he like lands on the bag and stuff in the middle of it, and then he says he never touched it, and the homeplate umpire has.

00:15:59
Speaker 3: To do the oh my god. Plus, you can hear somebody hit the bag. I can hear it now, No, I hear you, yes, Tod.

00:16:08
Speaker 8: So maybe you don't get fired, but you got to be called into the office, you would think. And then what is your explanation for missing something that blatantly when the head of officials or someone of the Major League Baseball sits you down and go, let's take a look at this.

00:16:18
Speaker 5: What how did you totally miss that?

00:16:20
Speaker 2: Well, you get graded after every game, all of these officials do NFL Baseball, you know, NCAA. You get graded and they go over you know your percentage of calls right wrong? And look, umpires are probably ninety six ninety seven percent correct, but we're focusing on those other ones. And if I'm an umpire, it's like, hey, let's fast track this abs Okay. It takes away a little of the uh, you know, gesturing I get to do, or the personality I get to show when I call somebody out. But I'd rather have that than be embarrassed behind plate. You know, when you're an umpire and all of a sudden you see that guy tap his helmet. You know, in your in your head, you're probably saying you can are you stop it?

00:17:12
Speaker 3: Yes? See? And yeah.

00:17:13
Speaker 4: The problem for umpires too is that back in the day, if a dude complained too much, you'd be like, all right, no problem, my strike zone just got a lot. Watch watch what happens the next time you're up, and privately in their head they could be like, this dude's not getting a call for the rest of the game now. But now they can't do that, They can't do that little bit of petty revenge.

00:17:29
Speaker 3: Yes, uh, think about that in.

00:17:31
Speaker 10: Any other line of work.

00:17:32
Speaker 8: You're in a meeting of presentation, or you're doing any kind of job, and someone could just tap their head and say you're wrong, that's stupid.

00:17:37
Speaker 10: What you just said, and we're going to show.

00:17:38
Speaker 3: You on so I could do that right here.

00:17:41
Speaker 5: That very often you're gonna get a concussion.

00:17:46
Speaker 3: All right, let's take a break. We'll we'll take some time.

00:17:50
Speaker 2: We'll add or subtract to the poll question more candidates who had the worst week, because I would say the entire country of Italy probably would be on that list. Well after the World Cup yesterday. How shocking though, Well, let me take a break. Jimmy Skanjeal, Tommy Calamari, Italy is not in the World Cup. I'd be saying that to my wife, who's Italian. She goes, okay, all right, okay, all right, Jimmy tell me calamar.

00:18:18
Speaker 3: Can it go over? Well they didn't get in. Yeah, she didn't know. Patrick, would you just stop it?

00:18:26
Speaker 2: Yeah at all, Let's take a breaks.

00:18:30
Speaker 3: All right, we're back after this.

00:18:33
Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Hey it's me Rock Parker.

00:19:12
Speaker 3: Got a pull question?

00:19:13
Speaker 2: We conferred during the commercial break what candidates would we put on that list? Who had the worst week? Seatan would you recap the candidates and who we're adding to the list?

00:19:26
Speaker 4: Yes, right now? Who is having the worst week? And not in a way to trivialize a Tiger Woods, Cebe Buckner, Italian soccer for not making the World Cup again, or Duke basketball.

00:19:41
Speaker 3: Oh okay, well Tiger is the obvious answer. I don't know. That's a bad week.

00:19:50
Speaker 12: It is.

00:19:50
Speaker 3: It's an embarrassing week.

00:19:54
Speaker 2: I'm gonna I would say Italy because that's an entire country, this is their they have great players on their team, and they didn't make the World Cup for the third consecutive World Cup.

00:20:07
Speaker 3: That's not good. That's that's twelve years. That's a bad week.

00:20:14
Speaker 6: Yes, Paul, it's Italy to me, and it's not that close. Tiger Woods will come back. He's all set career wise. It doesn't hurt his legacy on the course. You know, he doesn't have that kind of infraction. But Italy, they now have three years and twelve months to get another chance, so it's not like that. You know, Duke could come back next year.

00:20:36
Speaker 3: Wait, isn't that three years and twelve months? That's four years?

00:20:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, did you mean to say eleven months? No, it's three years and twelve months, which would make it.

00:20:46
Speaker 6: I think I was actually trying to say three years and fourteen months. It's like Will Ferrell and old school and he's.

00:20:55
Speaker 5: Trying to debate. He kind of has that head thing.

00:20:57
Speaker 3: I kept it was like three years twelve months.

00:21:00
Speaker 9: Yeah.

00:21:02
Speaker 8: I would have initially said Tiger, but because even whether he came up with it or someone told him he needs to do that, putting out that press release that at least it appears that he is looking to get help, I would remove Tiger's around the list, but he wouldn't.

00:21:14
Speaker 10: Be my first choice. I would go Italy over Tiger because of that press.

00:21:17
Speaker 2: And I'm glad that he's getting help. Here's the big concern that I have is he's always going to have this pain the rest of his life. You know, I was on Predna zone. Anybody who's been on predna zone on and off for twelve years, and it's mood swings, it's it's bad for you, but it takes away all of the pain. And you know, can he do a lesser drug that does not impair him when he's driving or trying to golf or just be normal. He's going to have all of that pain, all of that and it's only going to get worse with the arthritis, and that would be the biggest concern you off of that, But what am I going to prescribe for you? Because obviously he's you know, taking these drugs because of the pain that he has, or you get addicted to that feeling of taking these drugs for the pain that you have. I had to be weaned off predma zone. So I was doing sixty milligrams. They would make you drop down fifty five and then it was fifty and I mean it was a whole process.

00:22:28
Speaker 3: I got down to ten milligrams.

00:22:30
Speaker 2: They made me go nine eight, you know, and that's just predmozone and that's you know, routinely prescribed for people, but it's not good for you, you can't stay on it long term. So Tiger's going to have that the rest of his life, and that would be the big concern. Even if you go to rehab, what are you going to do for his body? What can he do that doesn't lead him back to this?

00:22:55
Speaker 6: Yes, Bawen, I also wonder not to overanalyze, but when I see how jacked he is while having a bad back and bad knees and legs, I wonder if that's healthy as a lifestyle to be addicted to looking like an NFL defensive back at fifty. Well, it looks great. I don't know if that's good for flexibility and health and pain.

00:23:15
Speaker 2: Eight seven seven to three DP show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DP show.

00:23:20
Speaker 3: We'll hear from Mike Florio.

00:23:22
Speaker 2: He's at the NFL meetings, not the owners meetings, but it's basically the owners meetings. So we'll talk to Florio coming up top of the hour.

00:23:30
Speaker 3: Yes, time here.

00:23:30
Speaker 8: Why is it they call it league meeting every column I'm looking at instead of owners meetings, it's league meeting. They met over three days or they're in the process in Phoenix. Well after one day, shouldn't it be meetings.

00:23:41
Speaker 2: Well, it's the owners. Are their gms, are their coaches are there? I guess that's why. And the NFL is holding it so the league meetings not owners meetings.

00:23:51
Speaker 8: And they're calling it singular. I would think if it's a one day event, it's a meeting. If you're having multiple days, you could throw.

00:23:55
Speaker 13: The s on.

00:23:56
Speaker 10: There wouldn't be a big deal. We're doing the whole Stanley Cup final.

00:23:59
Speaker 3: Fine thing, the thing, the things that bother you, the thing do you want to bring up?

00:24:06
Speaker 10: I thought it was meetings too, but it's a league.

00:24:09
Speaker 3: Meeting, yes, Paul, real quick.

00:24:12
Speaker 6: Grammar wise, the NFL is saying meeting as if the entire weekend is a meeting, and there's multiple meetings underneath that umbrella. So from a grammar standpoint, I think they're correct.

00:24:23
Speaker 10: Okay, that was a good explanation. I could buy that. That works for me.

00:24:31
Speaker 2: Uh the seven foot nine kid, Olivier Roue, he is transferring.

00:24:39
Speaker 5: Yeah, he just entered the portal after one year at Florida.

00:24:42
Speaker 3: Did he have to duck to get into the portal? Okay?

00:24:44
Speaker 2: All right, yeah, seven nine and he didn't play a lot. It's weird that you're seven nine, but you really can't play big time basketball.

00:24:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, Paulie, hey you play basketball.

00:25:01
Speaker 6: He's seven nine and not very mobile is the reason he didn't play, because he can't play in the flow of a college basketball offense and defense.

00:25:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean I would start there. I mean Taco Fall could play. You know, he was a starter in college. But you know, this kid played in eleven games, but not he didn't start. He got minutes. But you're seven to nine? Dang, do you do you do? You go to a small school if you're.

00:25:39
Speaker 3: Okay?

00:25:40
Speaker 2: So we're talking about this kid who's seven to nine who's going to be transferring, And Todd had a different thought on being seven nine because I said, hey, when you're done with basketball, you're gonna be seven to nine the rest of your life. And then Todd offered up this.

00:25:57
Speaker 10: That really hit a chord with me.

00:25:58
Speaker 8: I'm like, yeah, you're stuck like that, basketball not basketball, your whole life. You're that heightened. There's nothing you can do about it. So I wonder if one day there may be some kind of surgery or medical procedure like they did with Inspire, where you can press a button for SLEEPAUP thegether they put inside your chest that they can do something with your spine where you can control your height. You can make yourself at will. It may take a few minutes as you're elongated or shrunk down like an accordion, and they can do something to make you taller or shorter.

00:26:23
Speaker 3: And this was a real question. It was a legitimate question. Yes, And I thought, well, the wonders of modern medicine.

00:26:30
Speaker 2: It's kind of like a height version of ozempic that.

00:26:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll make you shrink a little bit.

00:26:36
Speaker 10: That it's a very good example. You're just presented.

00:26:40
Speaker 3: Yes, Paul Dan.

00:26:41
Speaker 5: You saw my reaction this question in the morning meeting. I was passed out in frustration.

00:26:46
Speaker 8: I could take a little shot in my stomach and in a matter of months I could be one hundred and fifty pounds.

00:26:50
Speaker 6: But your weight can fluctuate generally, your height does not fluctuate once you hit about twenty five years old. I can't believe I'm actually saying this. I can't believe I'm yes.

00:27:02
Speaker 3: But sans Seedan's eye roll is usually the best.

00:27:05
Speaker 2: He doesn't say anything and he'll just be like and then I think you covered your face after touch, said that.

00:27:13
Speaker 8: You're like, Okay, may not be in our lifetime, but eventually everyone you know today I want to be six six.

00:27:21
Speaker 4: But can you imagine, like if we're like the Jetsons and cars folded into don't be interesting.

00:27:26
Speaker 13: I don't know.

00:27:27
Speaker 10: Is that how I sound?

00:27:28
Speaker 3: I mean, I wrote that's almost as bad as Frank Kelly.

00:27:33
Speaker 10: There's appreachure.

00:27:36
Speaker 3: When you get fired up.

00:27:37
Speaker 4: And if there was nothing in the world to talk about, I would be like, all right, thank God for Todd. But like, there's plenty to talk about, plenty of stuff to talk about. There's a million stories that we're not even touching.

00:27:52
Speaker 13: The way.

00:27:54
Speaker 3: Geez.

00:27:55
Speaker 10: If that's how I said, I should never talk, I know you would all love No.

00:27:59
Speaker 2: No, I need your contributions. I do, but you know, realistic contributions.

00:28:07
Speaker 10: I don't think it's that far fixed.

00:28:09
Speaker 4: You have it to press a button to make me not seven foot seven nine anymore. You just press a button, somebody implants something in you that shrinks your bones down to.

00:28:19
Speaker 10: Some type of spinal surgery that would act like an accordion.

00:28:22
Speaker 3: So like you have an elevator, what about the rest of you?

00:28:24
Speaker 10: You could look kind of weird.

00:28:27
Speaker 3: That's still at seven nine your arms.

00:28:30
Speaker 10: It would look a little odd.

00:28:31
Speaker 5: Imagine Olivier Rue is now six to one.

00:28:34
Speaker 6: But it's all short Torso and the rest of it that these big ladders come out of us.

00:28:38
Speaker 10: Hey, if you don't want to be seven nine?

00:28:39
Speaker 4: That badly.

00:28:44
Speaker 12: Cool? Sure?

00:28:46
Speaker 2: Chris?

00:28:48
Speaker 3: Hey?

00:28:49
Speaker 13: Can you hear me?

00:28:51
Speaker 3: Yes? Chris? How you doing? Dan good?

00:28:54
Speaker 14: What's going on?

00:28:56
Speaker 12: Hey?

00:28:57
Speaker 14: Hey?

00:28:57
Speaker 12: Thanks? Thanks for calling me back.

00:28:59
Speaker 14: Hey, first time I'm in a long well, not in a long time. And off a CD Buckner's mistake at first base, I.

00:29:05
Speaker 4: Wonder if he's related to Bill Buckner.

00:29:07
Speaker 14: And first a shout out to my stet nephew Shiloh who got a secondary assist in his pee wee hockey game last night in the third period, and also no, no, wait wait, second period and as far as the final four, I like Duke to be cutting down in that Sunday night, even though they do have a couple of boozers on the team. And that's why I've been drinkers.

00:29:28
Speaker 3: Chris, Chris, who are you imitating? I think it's April Fool's Day, I know, but are you?

00:29:35
Speaker 14: I'm doing everything that I shouldn't be doing.

00:29:37
Speaker 15: Okay, come on, don don It's a little off topic since Girl Scout cookie season is kind of over, But when you're watching the game, what's your favorite Girl Scout cookie?

00:29:48
Speaker 9: To be nothing on?

00:29:49
Speaker 14: Mine's the peanut butter once. I love those, I love.

00:29:51
Speaker 3: Thank you, Chris.

00:29:52
Speaker 4: Is this sour Shoes doing Chris and Syracuse impression?

00:29:56
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:29:57
Speaker 2: I wasn't sure. Christ and Syracuse ish April fools. Yes, yes, Mark eight callers don't do what Chris. We love Christ and Syracuse. Paul in California, Hi, Paul, what's on your mind?

00:30:16
Speaker 12: Yeah? Hello, I just want to defend uh.

00:30:21
Speaker 2: Hubert a little bit, Davis Hubert, Daviska.

00:30:27
Speaker 12: And I'm wondering if if Reggie would have kept Hubert the alumni for North Carolina, if Duke gwinns the whole thing next year, how how patient are they going to be with the new coach.

00:30:45
Speaker 2: I guess you're talking about Reggie Miller yesterday, but Reggie's not with us today.

00:30:49
Speaker 3: Thank you, Paul.

00:30:53
Speaker 2: I don't have anything to offer, you know, I don't have contacts at North Carolina, any inside information there. But it's taking them a while and it feels like there's somebody who is coaching still coaching.

00:31:05
Speaker 3: Who's going to be the next head coach at North Carolina?

00:31:08
Speaker 2: Now, that could be Billy Donovan with the Bulls, But it feels like one of these coaches is going to be the next head coach.

00:31:15
Speaker 3: At North Carolina and they're still coaching now.

00:31:17
Speaker 2: But as far as Hubert Davis, yes, he went to a national title game and then two years later he's fired.

00:31:24
Speaker 10: Yes, would you go outside of the North Carolina family to hire a new coach?

00:31:29
Speaker 16: I don't.

00:31:29
Speaker 2: I just want the best candidate, and I don't. I don't get caught up all he's not one of us. You know, ask Michigan about Brady Hoak. You know, get the right guy now, Juwan Howard, get the right guy, not our guy.

00:31:45
Speaker 6: Yeah, Paully, you want to become a member of the UNC family, go to the final four. They'll adopt you quickly. Nobody cares if it's a Jerry Stackhouse or a no name from Blank School.

00:31:54
Speaker 5: Yeah, fans don't care.

00:31:57
Speaker 2: Dusty May from Michigan, if he's available, you'll kim he's in Indiana Hoosier, all right, and you would be lucky to get him. But from what I'm told that athletic director at Michigan has already said to him he's he wants him to coach. As long as he wants to coach at Michigan, He's gonna wrap him up to make sure he doesn't leave, which would leave maybe Tommy Lloyd at Arizona would be the next head coach. 00:32:44
Speaker 3: Play this is the play of the day.

00:32:48
Speaker 17: Check this out and it's Appleton, Wisconsin native Esmayor Barak Tarovich, the Milwaukee Messi, the New England Revolution homegrown player turned twenty one to one and a half weeks ago. Can send Bosday and Hurtzgovi in into the World Cup?

00:33:05
Speaker 1: Hen it does?

00:33:06
Speaker 17: It got underneath on the room off the Italian cars, continues Boss Dan hurtz Agovida.

00:33:13
Speaker 3: We'll play in the faithful World Cup.

00:33:17
Speaker 2: Italy fails to advance from its group at the World Cup and the two most recent appearances twenty ten, twenty fourteen and yesterday.

00:33:26

00:33:48
Speaker 4: Yeah, we're just putting it up there as we landed on these suggestions. Who's having the worst week? Tiger Woods, c B Buckner, Italian soccer or duke basketball? These are constantly shifting results.

00:34:03
Speaker 3: Chris Chico in Baltimore, Hey Chico, Dan.

00:34:07
Speaker 8: I see you guys on here and now with all the coaching what you were saying about North Carolina, would you see Quinn Snyder's name get mentioned?

00:34:16
Speaker 5: Probably?

00:34:17
Speaker 2: I don't think that North Carolina would bring a duke guy in. That would be awkward, very good coach, but I don't see that happening.

00:34:29
Speaker 3: Brad in North Carolina. Hi Brad, what's on your mind today?

00:34:32
Speaker 2: Hey?

00:34:33
Speaker 9: What a dp Quinn slider? Hell now, but not the reason for my call. I just went away and kind of a tire. For the better part of my life, Dan, I've struggled with an alcohol addiction, and for the last ten years, I've made three attempts to get sober, and by the grace of God, to the last one hundred and sixty one days, I've achieved that. But it took me Dan, realizing that addiction is about power and powerlessness, and you're just going to have to come to the realization that he is powerless over his addiction. And that's got to be something unbelievably difficult for someone who has had so much control in his life. But for me, it's a turning my life over to a power greater than me, and in that case happens to be Jesus Christ. But he's got to find some sort of power greater than himself or it's just it's just it's a terrible cycle.

00:35:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I wish you well, Brad. But most people who get into that position. You know, Pete Rose had a gambling problem, but Pete's not seeking help, you know. So you have people who are their minds are wired that way. That's what made them great. They don't give up, you know, they don't listen to other people they don't have to CB in Austin, Hi ceeb.

00:35:52
Speaker 13: And how's it going good? Hey on, Tiger, why the heck does he not have a person driver? What's he doing driving himself around? I get the whole medication problem, I mean I get it. That's it's terrible and he needs to figure it out. But why is he driving himself around?

00:36:12
Speaker 2: Because he wants to have privacy. He may be going to get something or do something that he doesn't want somebody. You know, if you're Tiger, you probably don't trust anybody, and especially a driver does. He'll have stories to tell. Plus, he probably doesn't think you know that he's impaired when he's driving. Look at it the other times he's been driving where he fell asleep behind the wheel.

00:36:40
Speaker 3: How do you get to that point? I don't think.

00:36:43
Speaker 2: Yes, he can afford a driver, but he probably doesn't want that driver to know what he's doing.

00:36:48
Speaker 3: Yes see.

00:36:49
Speaker 4: Plus, like you don't think an uber driver is going to be like, hey, I just drive Tiger Woods off at the pharmacy again, you know what I mean? Like they're gonna those people don't sign NDA's well.

00:37:00
Speaker 2: Had a driver and they had Prince getting out going into a pharmacy when you know he was getting Druggs.

00:37:05
Speaker 4: It's even the drivers that you pay two hundred and fifty thousand dollars a year sell you out for that ten k to let whatever news organization know that you're going to be at this place because they want that extra ten k.

00:37:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, because so many people say he can afford a driver. Yes, he can afford a driver, but maybe he doesn't want that driver to know what he's doing.

00:37:24
Speaker 3: Joey and Minnesota. Hi, Joey Wringing.

00:37:27
Speaker 16: Dan Danettes at THEAP for Fool's Day, calling in with a autograph story I've been hanging on to for a hot minute here. Mister Grant Hill frequented a Vale, Colorado Mountain restaurant.

00:37:41
Speaker 3: That I used to work at.

00:37:43
Speaker 16: I'd served him a couple of years running kind of planned ahead, kept one of his cards in my locker at work. So the next year comes around, he shows up with his family, run of my locker, slipped the card into the check presenter with the check with a sharpie, and I just handed him the check very nicely. I told him, you know, there's something little lecture in there, if you don't mind. He looked up at me with a big smile, and nobody even noticed he signed it for me. I just thought it was a cool story, and I wanted to hear any other unique autograph stories you.

00:38:16
Speaker 3: Guys have heard or he might have.

00:38:18
Speaker 2: Well, Grant Hill's one of the nicest people you ever meet. He just truly a nice person, so I'm not surprised at them. Had an awkward moment last night at dinner. I had the waiter say to me, hey, somebody has been waiting to get a picture with you, and I said okay. So I look around and there was a couple that they were seated behind me at the bar. So I get done with my dinner, I get up, I walk over to them and I say, would you like to get a picture with me? Well, the guy goes no, and I go oh, So I look back at the waiter he goes not them.

00:39:00
Speaker 3: It was.

00:39:02
Speaker 5: Like a curvey your enthusiast.

00:39:03
Speaker 3: Yes.

00:39:04
Speaker 2: So I then got my picture taken with the other people at the restaurant, and then I went back to the couple to say, hey, they they wanted my picture.

00:39:15
Speaker 3: You know.

00:39:16
Speaker 2: I'm sorry because he said, I didn't know if you were going to take a picture of us. Like I was saying, hey, do you want a picture? Like I was going to be the photographer, but yeah, a little awkward there.

00:39:28
Speaker 3: Wife got a laugh out of it. She was not everybody knows you.

00:39:31
Speaker 10: I go.

00:39:31
Speaker 2: I didn't. It's not my fault. The waiter's fault. Made it seem like everybody knew me. Zach and Knoxville. Hi, Zach, what's on your mind?

00:39:42
Speaker 3: Add thanks for taking my call.

00:39:44
Speaker 13: I just was wondering if Todd would have said three years and twelve months, do you think the show might have just exploded and shut down?

00:39:53
Speaker 2: Yes, we do great on a curve here, But Todd does say more.

00:39:59
Speaker 3: Dumb thing questionable.

00:40:02
Speaker 10: That's the best way you can dress that up. Dumb, that's the way we're going to go in.

00:40:05
Speaker 2: Like the number of non sequiturs that we have in the morning meeting would be would would drive you crazy. So Todd does say questionable things.

00:40:15
Speaker 8: How's that Sometimes they're unique or engaging, and he's supposed to dumb.

00:40:18
Speaker 10: But if we want to roll with that one, I guess that's the best we could do.

00:40:21
Speaker 2: I think the height thing where it's basically your body is an elevator and you can go up to how high does the body go up to like ten feet.

00:40:29
Speaker 10: I'm sure there's a.

00:40:30
Speaker 8: Time someone said, wait a second, I'm gonna take a little shot in my stomach and all of a sudden, I'm gonna go from four thirty to like two or wait, how's that going to happen?

00:40:36
Speaker 2: That's ridiculous, But that's not structurally, you're talking about somebody's spine, just saying no, no.

00:40:43
Speaker 10: Inventions where people once said that's never gonna be.

00:40:46
Speaker 2: I can't do this. No, I can't. It's stupid, it's dumb. Yes, I reached out to a doctor. No, I don't.

00:40:54
Speaker 6: The doctor doesn't want his name used on air, but this is a doctor of end of chronology. He says, if you're really short, there's different hormones and things you could be given to become hopefully become taller. That's commonplace. Yes, he said that he's never heard of anyone trying to be shorter, like when they're seven, they think they're going to be seven feet and they try to be shorter. And then the other question about could you remove parts of people's spine to make them shorter, He goes, I don't know how to answer that medically. Back to you all right, No Todd No, I'm not saying it.

00:41:27
Speaker 16: No.

00:41:28
Speaker 3: Mike Florio joins US next
