Joanna's mother always warned her not to play with the dead. The activity going
on around her home soon became too much to ignore. Her supernatural experiences would
follow her through adulthood, through tragedy. My name is Edwin. She is
Joana. True scary story. Growing up, my family will move from apartment
to apartments. When I started getting older, we will move from house to
house. As our family grew, the house grew. I had a few
situations where I had encounters where I felt spirits will be around me. I
didn't understand why things started to turn. When I started to stay home alone.
I would hear noises as someone was in my house. I will feel
a cold breeze passing by me. My TV will go static. When I
would mention it to my parents, my parents would just say it's a family
member passing by, or letting me know I'm being protected like an angel.
I learned to live with it. My parents purchased an old story house.
The house was located close to a small stadium where soccer tournaments will be held.
I would sometimes leave my window open, especially during summer. My window
was facing outside in the main road. I would be a little noisy when
people would walk by. Especially when the park held events, people would shout.
I can clearly hear conversations, and sometimes I'll hear arguments. As a
teenager, I would stay up late talking on the phone with my boyfriend.
By the time I ended at the call, it was about one am.
It was just silent, no cars passing by, and a split second I
started here crying like weeping. I didn't think much of it. I was
just thinking, Oh, maybe a couple got in arguments that turn into a
breakup is common. The crying started to get louder and louder. I felt
that were just hearing things. I go to my brother's room. My brother's
room was right next to mine. This window was also facing the main road.
I asked him in a whisper, do you hear that? Do you
hear that? My brother, hiding in the coveracks whispered back. I thought
I was the only boy. I thought I was the only boy. The
crying stops, we stay quiet. I hear somebody singing the most creepiest voice
I ever hear a little girl's voice going. Me and my brother just look
at each other with both of our eyes wide open. I peek outside.
I don't know why. I don't know why I peeked outside. I just
felt like, maybe we'll see you. A family passing by at one am.
Looking outside her window, I see a little girl dressed in a Victorian
style dress. That's all I see. I see baby white, but I
can't see her face. The shadow is blocking it. I jump into my
brother's bed in fear. I'd sleep in his bed for the rest of the
night. Is it real? The last thing I heard was a creepy lost
or fading away. I played and we played it in my head, and
it just doesn't go away. I tell my boyfriend now my husband and I
never heard her again, and I didn't understand why. Years passed by for
some reason. I remember this encounter. I tell my husband and he's just
like, no, you're lying, can't be true, but you just heard
it. Once. We were over at my parents' house for the holidays Christmas
time, and my husband brings it up to my brother. My brother remembers
I was like, I knew I wasn't crazy. My brother and myself talk
about the story that happened years back. At this time, it was probably
ten years I had a younger brother. He wasn't old enough at the time
to remember. But when he heard us talking, he tells us that he
hears our two Me and my brother who was there. We just look at
each other. I freak out and my younger brother tells me he is terrified
of the creepy noise that he hears at night. And I tell him did
you see her? Have you seen her? And he says no, I
just put my headphones on just to cancel the noise. I don't understand why
this happens to us, or why the little girl haunts us from afar,
or maybe he just wants to play a funny joke on us. We learn
to live with it, just because my mom always says not to play with
the dead. My second story is hard for me to talk about because it
involves a close friend who passed away. We have a close group of friends
and we would hang out, go to each other's weddings, our kids' birthdays.
We would go over and just stay up late at night, maybe at
three o'clock in the morning. It was twenty eighteen. I was pregnant.
My husband was really around, just because he spent so much time he was
security during the weekends when he would and his shift. He would go over
to his best friend. He would stay up three o'clock in the morning.
They were just streak. I would sometimes she was just call him and be
like, where are you at? His wife will call me, my friend,
he's over here in my apartment. Don't where he's safe. Discontinue on
until the end of my pregnancy. My daughter was born in October of twenty
eighteen and ended up getting postpartum depression and it was difficult. It was a
struggle. I didn't want to be around anybody. December was the hardest month.
Normally people want to look forward to Christmas end of the year. Remember
exact date, December twenty third, My daughter was about three months old.
It was early in the morning. We get a devastating phone call. Our
friends were evolved with a car crush. There was two passengers in the back
of the car. My friend, who was my husband's best friend's wife,
was driving. They went to a Christmas party for my friend's my husband's friends
work. They were driving outside of town. The roads where we live is
very curvy. It was probably one in the morning. We get the call
saying that our friends we are in a car crash. Two of The adults
in the back of the car were also injured. One was almost paralyzed from
the hip down. My friend I remember her telling me in the hospital.
When went to go see her, I just couldn't believe it. I said,
what do you mean he's gone. No, it's a joke. It's
a joke. I was already dealing with my postpartum depression and then this to
get on top of it. My husband was devastated, his best friend was
gone. We rushed to the hospital and the first thing my friend tells my
husband, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that I did this. My
Husband's like, no, it's not your fault. Who how will we know?
How do we know that? The last time I will see him,
it was a day in the kitchen, in his kitchen counter, just talking.
We are in the hospital. I see her in the hospital bed.
She couldn't move. I just hugger. I said it it's okay, don't
worry. Your kids are safe, Your kids are fine. Everything looks so
fast. It was devastating. We lost our friend that same night that when
we got out of the hospital, me and my husband were sleeping. I
had my daughter next to me. For some reason, I just woke up.
I see a shadow hovering over my husband, but I couldn't open my
eyes. I don't know why. I just wake up and I'm trying to
open my eyes but I couldn't. It was just halfway open or trying to
open. I'm like, who is that? Who is that? The morning
came up, I tell my husband about it, and he's just like,
that's crazy. I just had a dream. I had a dream that my
friend visited me. I'm like, what, can he visit you? He
said yes. He told me, please keep my children and my wife safe.
Be there. I'm okay, I'm okay, don't worry about me,
okay, and he left. That was the last thing he told him.
My husband said, I feel in peace that he's in a good place.
Days passed by. At this time, my friend is going to jail due
to her driving under the influence. She was charged manslaughter. The passenger who
was paralyzed press charges against her, so she wasn't present at the time.
Through the chaos when we were dealing with his funeral. December thirty first of
twenty eighteen was the day of his funeral. Me and my husband got ready
to go to his viewing, which was the most difficult to see him in
the caskids just there, lifeless, saw him and we're just like, this
is not him. I wish his wife was here to say goodbye. I
just remember crying. My husband cried. I just think about his kids.
His kids were three and four. So we leave the view we go back
home. We stopped buying McDonald to get some breakfast because we were we haven't
eight. It's still morning. Yeah, December is still dull. The weather
clouds, dark clouds. There was no sun. It was cold and walking
to my house, we have a porch outside of our door. So we're
walking by. My husband looks back, Oh, there's the black cats.
We didn't think much about it. We're still walking this cat following us.
My husband's like, why why is this cat following us? We're gutting up
the stairs to go to our porch. The cat's still following us. We
get in. For some reason, my husband says, I bet you the
cat's stilled out there. We opened the door. The black cat was right
in front of our front door, like if he wanted to come in,
and my husband closes his door really quick because he was the cat was going
to go in and then he reopens. He opens the second later, the
cat's gone. We're trying to look for it. My husband, I don't
know why. He says it was my friend. I'm like, are you
sure. He's like, yeah, we don't have cats in the morning passing
by our house. And we never saw that cat again. So he says
it was my friend, saying saying thank you. I'm like, are you
sure. He's like yeah. That same day we had to bury him.
We go to the cemetery. It's just so unreal. That's it. That
chapter's gone. Our friend is gone, of our lives. We go home.
It's New Year's Eve. One of our friends like, hey, let's
go over. Let's celebrate his lives. We go over to their house.
We're all there, all the friends are there because we're living good times with
him. It was the glue of our friendship. Next, you know,
people started to say I started to have encounters. What do you mean?
Yes, I recorded it. One of our friends showed us a video of
he had a picture of a friend who passed away in the in the wall
as a memory. He said, yes, I had a hanger right next
to it. Here's a recording of the Hanger movie. He just looked at
his picture and was starting to cry and said, can't believe you're gone.
The hanger started to move. He took it as he's saying saying hello or
I'm okay. I got a dream of him saying I'm okay, another friend
saying, another friend say, and then my husband says, I wasn't the
only one. So all of us fall in peace that he was in a
good place. Their friend would soon be making themselves known once again. The
rest of her story continues right after this stay with us, moving forward to
January, my friend was released and bail. It was really touching because it
was the day of her son's birthday party. Her son didn't know that she
was getting released. He was five. When she came through that door.
All of us just started to cry because she was out for just a little
while. We didn't know exactly how much year she was going to be serving.
It didn't matter as long as she was out. We really celebrating her
son's birthday party. But she was also in a dark place. She was
depressed, her husband was dead, and now she has to leave for years
not being around her kiss being released, she was not able to drink alcohol.
She had two anchor monitors. One was a GPS and one was an
alcohol monitor. Weeks passed by and she wanted to baptize both of her kids.
She did a baptism for both of her kids. A small party people
started arriving. There was no alcohol, and people didn't want to be there.
She saw that. She asked her brother, just go get beer.
Her brother goes, no, he'said, go get beer. Here's the money.
So he brings beer, but it was too late. By seven pm,
all her guests left. Only her friends stayed. She said, there's
no need for me to have to beer. Can you take it? She
asked me and my husband and we said yeah, sure, you know no
problem. We take boxes appear to our house. All our friends started to
come to our place. My place is not that big. It was crowded.
Next thing you know it, I see my friend come through the door.
I said, what are you doing here? You can't be around wilcohol.
It's fine, nothing's gonna happen. I'm not gonna drink. I said,
okay. Then I'm holding my three month old baby in my arms.
I'm in the opposite side of the living room. I have two couches.
She's sitting in the opposite side. She's in the middle, her sister's right
beside her, and her friend is right next to her. I'm on the
other side with two other friends. We're just talking about my baby. All
the guys decided to go to the cemetery and go see their friend drink with
him. We're just talking, listening to music. I don't know why.
I felt like it was slow motion. I turned to her direction. Her
friend's beer started to bomb up and just exploded. It just happened so fast.
Her beer exploded and all that beer spilled on her. We're like,
we just rushed got her up. Not take off take off your pants.
Take off your pants. I'll give you some pants. Here's changed because we
didn't want the alcohol to stay on her. Immediately, she's like, I
need to leave. I said, yes, live. You were not supposed
to be here in the first place. She leaves, and I keep looking.
How did this happen? How did you get beer spilled on her?
I asked her friend. I don't know. I was just holding the beer.
I never took a sip. The beer was opened, but I never
took a sip. And I just try to think in my head. When
did I just witness At this time, everybody laughed and we had a couple
pizzas because we were eating pizza, and left the pizza boxes on top of
my stoves. My stuff is electric. The only way you're able to turn
it on if you push and turn. So I leave the pizza boxes there.
None of the stuff wasn't on. I go out of bed. The
next morning, I wake up. I opened the door and it's just smoke.
I see my husband laying down in the couch because he had too many
to drink. I wake up. I'm like, wake up, wake up.
He's just like, what happened. He's like, why is there smoke?
I'm like, I don't know. That's so I'm asking. I'm asking
you what happened. I don't know. I don't know what happened. And
I see my stove earned and the big pizza boxes are burning. My house
is full of smoke. I text my friend immediately, Hey, did you
turn on myself by accident? She goes, no, I just put a
pizza boxes on top. I had a picture of our friend in our wall.
For some reason, I turned to his picture, like if I knew
if it was him. A couple of days passed by and we tell my
husband's mom about it. She's very into the afterlife. She's really into witchcraft,
so she tells me. She says, he was angry with you guys.
We're like, why us? Because his wife shouldn't be there because he
was upset that you allowed her to be at your home. You allowed her
to be around alcohol. He's upset. I think you need to put him
to rest. How can we do that? You need to put his picture
your away because you having them there, He's never going to be in peace
because you're always going to look at him. We put his picture in our
picture album and closed, like if we were closing a chapter in our lives.
Months passed by due to the alcohol landing on my friend's pants. He
monitored to detect it that she took two shots. In reality, she never
took a sip of alcohol. She had to go back to jail when my
friend's husband passed away. Typical, you know, as Hispanics, we always
want to go over to the parents' house because they're the ones that are dealing
with the grief of losing a child. I was over to my friend's house.
Being there with her parents are devastated that their son in law is dead
and their daughter's going to jail. Now they have to take care of the
two little kids. People started to come in. They kept looking at the
little kids, saying, wow, you lost your dad. Now your mom's
in jail. I asked my friend's sister, Hey, how are the kids
doing. She goes to me the most craziest thing I never heard of.
She goes, yeah, my sister's daughter got sick. I said, how,
I don't know, it just started happening. We do the limpia went
just the cleaning. We get an egg and we do a cleaning around them.
They said that her dad got or the grandpa got then egg and cleaned
her, started cleaning her and when she finally he finally cracked the egg,
that the whole yoke was black, the yolk was black. That he never
seen something like this before, and they believed that it was black because people
kept looking at them with sorrow. The little girl couldn't sleep, kept crying.
When she finally got that cleaning, she fell asleep immediately. My friend's
sister she has never seen something like this before, where she sees the yolk
completely black, and she saw a figure on the yoke. I've heard think
of this before, that you could see faces, but she said that she
saw an evil sort of face on the yolk or the egg. They immediately
got rid of it. Is now twenty twenty three and she's finally out.
I saw her for the first time after years. I gave her a big
hug. Never experience any other encounters. But now that she's out, I
don't know if it will resurface. I asked her one time, I asked
her, you know, as curious anybody can be, as like, how's
jail? I asked her, are you fine? Because at this time she
had injury still, she had her neck brace on her She hardly could walk.
She didn't want to eat. She said that one day she was in
her cell, laying down there she heard her husband's voice. She turns.
She told me she turned and was trying to find out who's calling her,
And that same night she said that she fell asleep and that she had a
really beautiful dream of them both. He told her that I love you,
okay, it'd be there for our kids. She up with tears. She
heard her name again. It just faded away. She knew at the moment
her husband, she didn't need to worry about her husband anymore, that her
focus was on her kids. I don't know if I will encounter our old
friends. My husband's in peace, but he still thinks about him. We
look at his kids, We're like, Wow, his kid's already grown.
It's not the same. Our life moves on while her life stays still.
We close the chapter and we can't go back and relive it. We can
just move forward. I'm worried about what else I'm going to encounter throughout my
life. I haven't encountered a spirit, but I'm always welcome to one who
knows. I'm in peace. We no longer saw our friends. Everybody took
their own paths. It's been years. We only come together if his wife
brings us together. She's good with her kids, she's moving on with her
life. That's all I can wish her in Afar, and we've been through
a lot together as a friend group. She always had my back, he
always had my husband's back. Those bemories are never gonna leave. I'm in
peace that she is dealing with her own demons, if she has any.
I'm just moving on my life. Life moves on when you try to click
back, trying to where relive that in the moment you felt. That's why
I'm feeling right now. But I'm okay. I'm okay. It's been five
years. I'm in peace. Tell your own story over on true scarystory dot
