Speaker 1: Here he is.

00:00:04
Speaker 2: Congratulations back to back world champs. Max Monthy of the Los Angeles Dodgers joining us on FT Max, you look great, congrats man.

00:00:14
Speaker 1: Of the last few days been for you.

00:00:18
Speaker 3: Hope, hopefully it don't sound too bad, but yeah, it's been. It's been a long couple of days. It's been an amazing couple of days. It's been a lot of fun, and.

00:00:27
Speaker 1: You know, it's still still trying to soak it in.

00:00:31
Speaker 4: Do you guys plan like what kind of party you're going to have when you guys win the World Series? Do you guys talk about that like leading up, like, Hey, we want to go over to so and So's house because we didn't get there last time. Do you guys talk about that and did you execute it?

00:00:47
Speaker 1: Uh?

00:00:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, Mookie kind of took care of all of that for us. You know, we went to his house last year after the parade, and we went to his house again this year, and man.

00:00:58
Speaker 1: That man knows how to throw a party. I'll say that, Max.

00:01:05
Speaker 5: Why do you guys give Kik the microphone every time?

00:01:08
Speaker 6: You just want to see what craziness he can spew out of his mouth, Because some of the things he said are awesome. I'm not gonna lie, but are you guys like, Okay, we need something funny or we need something outrageous. Oh, Kik here, it's your turn to talk, right. You got Freddy on one side that's all, Oh, hey, I'm just happy because I you know, I beat Canadian team and I was from Canada and I'm just so proud and humble. And then you give the mic the Kik and he's like, if everybody, I don't care, I got three rings. I know it's it's the best. Like, just from now on, skip everyone else and just start with KK.

00:01:37
Speaker 1: No.

00:01:38
Speaker 3: You know what's what's funny is if you look at the reactions of like, uh, you know the guys that run the team, not necessarily the front office because they know what's going to happen, but you know the people running the show when when he gets the microphone, they all kind of just start shaking their head because they know what's about to happen. And uh, you know, honestly, it's it's it's what makes him though. You know, we we weren't shocked at all by anything that he said, but we also had no idea what was gonna come out of his mouth. And that's that's part of the beauty of Kik is he's gonna say what comes to his mind and he's not gonna let anything hold him back. And uh, you know it certainly creates some some truly enjoyable moments. And you know, it's just part of the reason why we all love him is he's going to speak his mind. And you know, it's like that all year long, and it's just it's it's beautiful in my opinion, Max.

00:02:27
Speaker 6: Can you look over your shoulder outside? What is what animal is rolling around on the ground out there? So you have a dog or a cat?

00:02:35
Speaker 3: No, that's my that's my dog. It's Jack's our our friendship. He's a wow, Yeah, he's he's he's soaking in some sun right now. He's uh, he's he's loving it. You know, he's it's been it's been a long couple of weeks for the little guy. He's uh, you know, hasn't been able to travel with us. We've been gone a lot, so he's trying to soak in as much sun as he can right now.

00:02:56
Speaker 6: Okay, so what was the how tired were you? Because I tried to explain this to Pe when we won we won on the road. Now, you guys won in Toronto, you had to fly all the way to la You got basically one day to recover, and then you did the parade. We did the same thing. We won in Houston. The next day, we flew back to Chicago, and then we did the parade. I wish they like for me, I wish there would have been a little bit more of a time in between, like a couple of days, so I can kind of recover a little bit. But I mean, how tired were you even yesterday? I know, you get through it. Like when we did our parade, we had to go on Oprah. I don't even know if you know what Oprah was, but we had to go on Oprah before we did our parade at like six in the morning, so we were all drunk. Oprah parade, do the whole thing, and then it was like, all right, it's over, guys, now what Like I don't you wish there was like another day or two in between instead of like.

00:03:42
Speaker 5: Boo boo boom boom boom. Oh my gosh, I'm exhausted now I have to go home.

00:03:46
Speaker 3: Well, this year was a little bit better than last year because we had planned that we were going to stay the night regardless whether we want or lose in Toronto, so we weren't flying back till the next day. Last year, with the being Game five in New York, we didn't have a hotel reservation, so when we won, we had a party at the field, then get on a bus, go to the plane fly back. So the plane didn't take off till like five o'clock New York time in the morning, and then we landed and then it was Halloween that night, so everyone's taking the kids out, and then we had the parade the next morning versus this year, you know, when on Saturday we had all night to kind of, you know, enjoy it, and then the flight was the next day, so everyone was able to sleep in for about three hours or whatever, however long we got sleep that night. But at the same time, because there's a little bit more rest, guys probably went a little bit harder. And then the parade itself, you know, the prey didn't start till it was like eleven or eleven thirty something like that, but because of traffic in LA they had all of us get to the stadium at like seven seven thirty in the morning. So yeah, there wasn't a whole lot of sleep. Guys were grinding through it, but you know that's that's that's why they make drinks for that, and the boys were having a great time. It's no doubt about that. But like you said, it's just it's it. It's about a week long thing where you just get zero sleep and then you know, now everyone's trying to pack up and get back home, and so you're still not really sleeping because you're stresed about how you're gonna get all that stuff done.

00:05:14
Speaker 1: And you know, it's a it's.

00:05:16
Speaker 3: A wonderful problem to have, there's no doubt about that, but yeah, it's it's very tiring.

00:05:21
Speaker 4: Which partying situation do you do you like the best? I mean, you got to you gotta think about it because you know you'll be back again. Which one did you like better? Did you like the New York one last year? Or this one where you got to spend the night in Toronto, which, if anybody's never been to Toronto, tremendous city to spend the night, And let's put it that way.

00:05:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, on the the East coast too. The World Series games don't start till eight o'clock at night, and then you know, I know they I know we have pitchclock now, but those World Series games are still over three hours long.

00:05:53
Speaker 1: Just there's so much going on, and we went extra inning, so you know, we're.

00:05:57
Speaker 3: Not getting back to the I think the bust back to the hotel wasn't until like two thirty in the morning or something like that. And then you know, they had they had a couple of ballrooms reserved for us, and so guys took advantage of that and uh yeah, and then you know, we had we had a nice flight back.

00:06:14
Speaker 1: I'll say that. You know that was that was a fun one for the boys.

00:06:17
Speaker 3: And uh, you know, I think I preferred the uh the stand of the night, just because when we got to the plane after the one in New York, everyone was so you know, spent and and worn out from from partying already that most people fell asleep on that flight versus this one.

00:06:35
Speaker 1: We we had a good time, as.

00:06:37
Speaker 5: You should have, as you should have.

00:06:38
Speaker 6: All right, I want to go back through some games with you, because we didn't have you on for for the World Series.

00:06:43
Speaker 5: But you lose Game one, Oh you're fine, No, please, are you kidding me.

00:06:46
Speaker 6: You're too busy winning, all right, But first of all, I want to say this, are you mad that you guys weren't the best team and that the best team didn't win.

00:06:54
Speaker 5: The World Series? Like?

00:06:55
Speaker 4: How mad?

00:06:56
Speaker 6: How much does that hurt you? That you guys weren't the best team and you didn't the best.

00:07:00
Speaker 5: How you guys still won? Like I don't.

00:07:02
Speaker 6: I don't understand how you guys weren't the best team but you still won.

00:07:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's funny. It's back to back years that the best team didn't win, or you know, that's that's what people say. So you know, like like like Kek said, I'm really happy the best team didn't win.

00:07:18
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure. I defend I.

00:07:22
Speaker 6: We had Jason Stark on yesterday and I was like, listen, the best team won. They won four games before the other team won, so guess what, they're the best team. The fans can cry and wind and say whatever they want, but I think it was more because you guys were expected to win, and the Blue Jays were like, this is a little story, even though they won the most games in the American League. So I'm happy that y'all won because I picked you guys from the get go to win, so so thank you for for winning.

00:07:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry in rupt, but I think you agree with me on this. Uh A seven game series, that's enough games for teams to kind of separate themselves a little bit. Three game series, you know, a team can get on a heater, even a five game series team get on. But a seven game series throughout the course of seven games, you know, I always felt like the team that's gonna win is gonna separate themselves a little bit.

00:08:08
Speaker 2: Now.

00:08:08
Speaker 3: Granted, during the season you can go on week two week slumps, but you know, I think seven games is enough to determine that.

00:08:16
Speaker 5: I agree. I agree.

00:08:17
Speaker 6: That's why you guys were the best team, because you won and you had the trophy, you had the parade, you had all that stuff. Now I want to go, I want to go back to some games for you. Now, you guys lose the first game, big, right, Everyone's like, oh, here's Toronto. Then then Ya Momoto pitches like thank god for Ya Momoto and that contract that everyone said, oh he's not worth it, Well he's been worth it for two years in a row. Okay, But then we get to the eighteen inning game, okay, And I'm gonna bring up a bad memory here for you. You didn't get any hits in that game. There's always one guy that doesn't get any hits in that game. I've been there, You've been there. But at the end of the day, did you care because Freddy for a minute to walk off Homer and you guys want and you don't even know if you got a hit or not.

00:08:57
Speaker 3: I know I've at least said it to you guys a couple of times. As long as we get to win, I don't care if I have ten hits or zero hits. You know, it really doesn't matter to me. All the matters at this time of year is winning. I know there's a lot of people that I don't think that way, but you know, as long as we're getting the trophy in the ring at the end of the day, I don't I don't care what my stat line is, you know, as long as I'm contributing to that team. And I feel like I did a lot of things to contribute even though I didn't have any hits in that game.

00:09:25
Speaker 2: Hey, we've told you about Hewles new Daily Greens ready to drink can, but also we do not want to forget about the og your favorite.

00:09:35
Speaker 6: I love that chocolate peanut butter you an krats love that chocolate peanut butter flavor.

00:09:40
Speaker 1: That's a bigger one.

00:09:42
Speaker 2: Mm hm, it's so breakdown.

00:09:45
Speaker 4: The vanilla also good. But when they send me a chocolate peanut butter, oh, it's like a dessert, but it's not.

00:10:25
Speaker 4: All right, well then I'm not going to be negative Nelly, Like AJ is, how far did you hit that ball against Trey? You savage? And it seems like it's like an afterthought, like it was like the max get a hit in that game. You hit one almost to the fifth deck, which like the fact that nobody was hitting Tray you savage. The fact that you hit that to pull a team within one that's when I said, Dodgers are going to win this game. You don't hit that, I don't think you guys have a shot because two runs is so much harder to produce that late in the game.

00:11:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, for me, I was obviously extremely excited about the home run, but I also wasn't sure how much emotion I should be showing. You know, it's you don't want to be that guy that's you know, tossing about one hundred feet in the air trying to pump your team up and then you still end up losing, and then it's like, oh, look at this clown. But you know, the biggest thing in the back of my head when I when I did that, besides getting us one run closer, was it guaranteed show Hey at least another at bat. And I was like, Okay, we definitely, we definitely have a chance to win this. We got show Hey coming up at least one more time, you know, and that's obviously you're gonna feel the best about that. No One Show Hayes getting one more bat. So for me, in the back of my head, I was like, Okay, you know, at least guarantees our guy one more bat, and that's gonna give us the best chance.

00:11:48
Speaker 4: Oh so you didn't so you didn't think Maggie was going to hit a home run either, Because.

00:11:55
Speaker 1: I thought Miggie was gonna find a way to get on base. I'll say that, you know, I told.

00:12:06
Speaker 3: I mean, I like I said, I thought Miggi was gonna gonna get on base.

00:12:10
Speaker 1: I didn't think he was gonna hit a home run.

00:12:12
Speaker 3: But you know, I told several guys in the dugout in Game six, I was like, Hey, this is gonna be the Miggie Ro game. Watch and it kind of was just on defense, and then he carried that into the next day made it the Migi Ro game on offense.

00:12:24
Speaker 1: And uh, you know, it's just there are certain guys where.

00:12:27
Speaker 3: You get that feeling that you just know they're going to do something special to help the team win. I had no idea it was going to be a home run, but I thought he was going to get a big hit at some point, you know, whether it was just get on base or hit a double in the gap or something like that. And you know, he ended up pitting the home run, which obviously couldn't have been a bigger hit, and just you know, you, just like I said, you just get certain feelings by guys where you know they're gonna do something to impact the game. And you know, he definitely did it on both sides of the ball.

00:12:54
Speaker 6: Hey, Max, when you're talking about getting on base, were you talking about like when Andrew Seminniz tried to stick his hand in front of the ball and then he gets hit and.

00:13:01
Speaker 5: Then No, the best part was you guys clear the benches.

00:13:03
Speaker 6: You just grabbed You're the only guy that thought like, man, we need ro Blusky in this game. So you just grabbed Robleski and we're like no. You were like the bouncer right in that. You're like, no, no, no, sir, you're not admitted to this club. You have to go over here.

00:13:16
Speaker 1: Well, it's funny.

00:13:17
Speaker 3: Then the next day on the plane, I actually talked to him about it, and you know, my first reaction was like, hell, yeah, don't back down to this guy, go get him. And then immediately I was like, oh crap, we need him to stay in this game. He's gotta throw somewhere batter. So I was like I got to get him out of there.

00:13:33
Speaker 1: Yeah. My initial reaction was yeah, go get him, go get him.

00:13:36
Speaker 3: But then I was like, oh man, we got to get We got to make sure he stays in this game. And you know, thankfully the umpires all came up to me and they're like, if you didn't get him out of there, we were probably gonna have toss him, you know, because you know how that goes with the instigation rules. If you're the guy that instigates it, then you're usually the one that gets tossed, even though even though it's not your fault. And so, you know, I knew we needed him for at least one or two maybe three more about her is just based on that part of the lineup, and I was you know, so I was like, I got to get him out of there and make sure he stays in this game. And I talked to him the next day and he was like, yeah, I appreciate it. You know, first, I think he was a little taking him back that I was not letting him get in the fight. But you know, it's he he he had that mentality the whole postseason. Every time he pitched, he he was coming after you. He didn't care who you were, and you know that's that's part of the part of the things that I love about our pictures is they start getting that attitude that they're gonna attack you and they don't care, and you know, it's the right attitude to have, but sometimes you have someone you know pull you out of there.

00:14:33
Speaker 4: We can't go over every single moment, So I need your favorite moment. I need your favorite moment from all we could do. We could do just Game seven, we could do the whole series, but the entire series. Your favorite moment of the entire run for you, guys, man.

00:14:49
Speaker 3: It's hard to It's hard to pick one moment off the top of my head. I I gotta throw Yoshi in there for deciding to throw throw one hundred pitches and then come back the next day and still throw forty pitches, And I mean that, that to me was just absolutely insane.

00:15:06
Speaker 1: And what's funny.

00:15:08
Speaker 3: Was the night before he said he had forty fifty more pitches, but he didn't think he'd be able to go the next day, but we still took him out anyways, and then he was able to go the next day, and well, I don't know if he was able to go but he willed his way to he willed his body to be able to get out there and go. And so you know, like I said, it's too hard to pick one moment, but to me, Yoshi putting his body on the one like that to get us a win, it's I mean, it's hard to describe that in words.

00:15:36
Speaker 5: Marax.

00:15:36
Speaker 6: I mean you just talked about it, and I talked about a little bit earlier. But Yamamoto, Snell and Glass, how about Glass now, I mean Yamamoto stuff looked ticked up. Actually the next day, I think when he was in relief, and even after throwing the six things the day before, Snell was great.

00:15:50
Speaker 5: Glass.

00:15:50
Speaker 6: Now Game six, second and third, nobody out three pitches, keyk makes to throw Mickey row at the pick at second base. How good were your starters? Not only starting, but out of the pen. These guys are unbelievable.

00:16:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I said it before the Postsese even started. I at our starting pitching is gonna carry us. I had no idea that meant out of the bullpen also, but you know they were definitely gonna carry us. And you know the migey Ro pick Mookie's plays. You know, it's just for me, the slash bunnet third. You know, it's just there's too many plays to really pick and you know, to throw another Yoshi story in there, because I just want him to be able to soak all this up and to just say how incredible he was. The eighteen inning game, you know, he told the coaching staff he's going to the pen and start getting loose, and you know he's down there. The story that I had heard was he was down there kind of playing catch and the fastball had a little hump on it. You know, he had just thrown a complete game, and so I don't know if he really thought it was a thing that he might come in that game, but they called down and they said, hey, he's got the next inning. And Josh Barr when coach told him that, and we had we have, you know, all the stuff down there for the pitchers to see what their their stuff looks like while they're warming up, and uh, the rumor, the rumor goes that when he got told he was actually coming in the game, his next pitch was one hundred miles an hour in the bullpen, and it's just like, wow, this this this guy was gonna be locked in the most impressive thing that we've ever seen.

00:17:21
Speaker 4: Who did you want to see on the mound? If it wasn't Yamamoto, who did you want to see? Because obviously you guys don't see the in game stuff, but I'm sure you're talking in game. Doc was like, yeah, we're probably gonna go to a physician player. Who did you want to see out there.

00:17:37
Speaker 1: In the eighteen inning game?

00:17:39
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:17:40
Speaker 1: Oh man, I mean.

00:17:46
Speaker 3: Miggie Row was joking that he was going to start busting out the picture impressions again if he had to come in that game, And uh, you know, I don't think any of us really wanted to see that. But at the same time, if we would have found a way to win with him doing that, that would have been incredible.

00:18:01
Speaker 5: Not Kik with his helmet.

00:18:03
Speaker 6: Not Kik with his little pitchers had on that now apparently is standard procedure for him and celebrations that he has to wear this.

00:18:13
Speaker 3: The helmet's not retired in terms of celebrations, but he told us the helmet was retired for pitching.

00:18:21
Speaker 4: He was already out of the game, so he couldn't have come in. But I gotta go more broad, now, who is the best team that you guys faced as far as like giving you guys a run where you're like knowing what you have coming in and then what ended up happening during the series. Who was the best team you guys faced on your way because you guys, you guys did it real this year. There was no buy in the first round. You guys went the whole distance.

00:18:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, the easy answer would be the Blue Jays because they took us to seven games. That offense was incredible. Their pitching staff was executing extremely well. The few times they didn't execute is when we actually took advantage.

00:18:57
Speaker 1: But you know the.

00:19:00
Speaker 3: Phillies series, like the starting pitchers that the Phillies rolled out in terms of stuff and execution, I mean, they were really dominant. You know that all three of those lefties were just really really dominant. They executed everything they wanted to do. You know, they kept us really off balance. And then obviously offensively, you're always scared anytime Schwarber steps in the box that you might hit one eight hundred feet, which he did. He hit out a Dodger stadium.

00:19:29
Speaker 1: You know.

00:19:29
Speaker 3: So the easy answers the Blue Jays, But the Phillies were equally as tough just with the execution of their pitching staff.

00:20:40
Speaker 6: I have two questions for you worst of all, we mentioned Keik. Did you think he was dead when Pa Haus made that catch in the in the ninth inning of Game seven, because you just laid there for a second and it was I mean, what a great move by Dave Roberts right putting him in the game right there for that situation and him going and catching that ball.

00:20:56
Speaker 5: But did you think k K was dead for a second? We just laid there.

00:21:01
Speaker 1: I wasn't sure.

00:21:02
Speaker 3: I know, he'd been he'd been dealing with some some cramping issues and so I wasn't sure if something finally blew out on him. But he immediately came back in and said he was laying there because he thought he'd you know, he thought he had messed up the play and dropped the ball and the Blue Jays won the World Series, so he was he said, he was laying there pouting, and then Pa Has had to tell him that, you know, I caught the ball, and so then he jumped right up and was super excited.

00:21:24
Speaker 1: And came running back in.

00:21:25
Speaker 3: Okay, So yeah, there was a little thought that maybe he'd finally blown out, but uh, thankfully that wasn't the case.

00:21:33
Speaker 6: And then Max, what about the other play the other huge play, and I think crowds was going to ask you about the IKF lead and all that. But when that balls hit to Mickey Roll at the base loader and he takes the step back and then he kind of double pumps in your head. As a player, you kind of have a clock. Were you thinking, Oh, no, he's gonna be safe, and then you see him out by about this much, were you like, oh, thank you, we're still alive.

Speaker 3: You know, I never had any doubt that he was going to be like, in terms of the timing of the play, that he was gonna be safe at home plate. When I saw Will reach, that was the only doubt I had was that maybe the throw was offline. I you know, Miggy Ro's internal clock is as good as anybody's, and so I knew that he you know, because when he fell back, he kind of glanced over and he knew he had time to make the play. But I just wasn't sure if the throw was online. Thankfully, Will was able to keep his foot on the plate, and you know, the throw was was fairly in a general area that Will could make that play. And so I never had any doubts on the timing of it.

00:22:40
Speaker 4: So many ex players, so many people that are ex Twitter players have commented on Ikf's lead in that situation. Can you paint the picture as the third baseman all the things you look at, the things you're looking for with his lead with a predominantly pool hitter in of our show up, and evaluate the lead and secondary if you saw it afterwards.

00:23:07
Speaker 3: Well, for me at third base, like you said, predominantly pool hitter, so naturally, you know, the the instincts would be get off the bag. Like as a third baseman, it's get get off the bag in case he slaps one through the hole. But the first couple of pitches I was I was almost holding him on like a for like a first basement. I was trying to keep him as close as I could, and then I'd shuffle off towards the end. And you know, as a base runner, it's always you. You get as much as the third baseman gives you, you know, And in that situation, if there's a line drive hit, you're probably gonna get doubled off anyways, because you should be going on contact. You're not necessarily seeing it through. And even if you're standing on the bag, you should be going on contact, so you know, a line drive, you're almost getting doubled off anyways, but that's what they teach you. You get off as far as the third baseman allows. And you know, we've we've done enough backpicks throughout the course of the year with with will behind the plate that I don't know if that is in the scouting report for the third base coach, you know, when when he's when he's getting in the year, the runner at third base saying, hey, be careful, you know, if he if he swings and misses it one, they might try to backpick, keep it close. You know, I have no idea if that plays into anything that's going on over there. But in terms of what I saw, I mean, he did what you're supposed to do. You get, you get as much as the third basement gives you, and you know you you.

00:24:38
Speaker 1: Obviously can't cheat in that situation.

00:24:41
Speaker 3: You can't, you know, try to get a running start before the pitch is thrown, because there's just so many things that could happen. So, you know, from what I saw, I didn't you know, maybe the lead was a little small, but he didn't do anything wrong In terms of what I saw A great.

00:24:55
Speaker 6: By the way, thank you for saying what you said about if you get if the line drive is sick, because I had this argument many peop when I said this, yesually, if the line drive say, you're double off anyways, so you might as well not if that's what you're thinking about and you're worried about that, then you're screwed anyways.

00:25:06
Speaker 3: But yeah, but you know that that shouldn't be playing into your lead at all, because I agree, like we just said, you know so the but in terms of the lead, like that never plays into your head anyways, because if you're going on contact, you're getting doubled off even if you're standing on the back. But there's so many other things that goes into play as to why that's what your lead is. And the last thing you want to do is get back picked in that situation, then it looks even worse.

00:25:33
Speaker 5: Max. I'm gonna tell you this right now.

00:25:35
Speaker 6: I'll bet every dollar I have, every dollar you have, and every dollar show Hey has come in to him that Will Smith was knocking to backpick with the bases loaded in one out in a tie game of the World Series with the game on the line.

00:25:48
Speaker 5: I'll bet everything that we have that. That was never good.

00:25:51
Speaker 6: If he would have called it, you would have been like no, man, like we ain't no chance, Like, no, no way, we're doing that right here, There is no way.

00:25:59
Speaker 5: I know you're saying, say no way that was.

00:26:01
Speaker 1: Happening, and you say that.

00:26:03
Speaker 3: But we actually talked about it because me and me and Will talk all the time and we don't have a set sign.

00:26:09
Speaker 1: We just make eye contact.

00:26:10
Speaker 3: But that was one of those situations where we had started looking at each other and it was like, hey, if you back, if he backpicks, just stay away from the bag so that that way the runner can't get in the throw. It's more of a if he's far enough off, I can catch the throw and dive and tag him. That way, you know the throw is safe. So we had actually been, you know, talking about it a little bit because when we made the pitching change before, Will looked at me and said, hey, be ready if there's a swing and miss.

00:26:36
Speaker 5: Okay, all right, I still don't believe it. I still have to see it to believe it.

00:26:39
Speaker 1: I'll it probably wouldn't have happened.

00:26:42
Speaker 6: But I mean, I've talked about listen, I've talked about a lot of things in my life, and a lot of them haven't come true. So I mean, I trust me, I get it. But the other thing I want to say is, so when when I did the Tigers and the Mariners series, they they with a left handed hit, or they ran their their third basement in the fair territory to start the lead. They would take their lead actually in fair territory, and they did it because they wanted the third baseman to move off the base right. And then also the chances of a of a left handed hit or hitting a line drive eight to the third baseman or b to the runner at third and getting him out in fair territory is almost none, right, So then KF if he would have moved into fair territory, that would have pushed you off the base a little bit. He could have got a little bigger lead. I don't know, Maybe I'm wrong on this. You could prove me wrong.

00:27:28
Speaker 1: I wasn't moving. I wasn't. I mean that ball was not coming to me, so I wasn't.

00:27:33
Speaker 5: Thank you. They're worried about that. That's important that the ball was never gonna go to you.

00:27:37
Speaker 3: I mean, not that they had a couple left tendant batters that were shooting at the other way, you know. You know, Jim Andez and Barger, they had several hits where they were shooting it the other way. But var Show was not was not shooting it the other way, you know. And if he did, it's because he's laid on a fastball and it's probably getting hit hard enough that it doesn't matter where I'm playing. It's getting by me unless it happens to be right at me. And so you know, and that's what you Even if that guy was in fair territory, I'm probably not moving. But then you also have the third and you know this, you also have the third base umpire of yelling at you that he needs a lane to see the batter in case there's a check swing.

00:28:14
Speaker 2: Oh that's good, Yeah, exactly. We could do an hour just on that last one. I just don't want to go a conversation without bringing up Show. Hey, what was the experience like to just watch him be a hitter and a pitcher during the postseason? Of course I saw yesterday He's like three peat. I'll enjoy this for five minutes, but I'm going to start training tomorrow.

00:28:36
Speaker 3: Three pet Yeah, you know, I know, in the world series. The pitching maybe didn't go as good as he would have liked, but it was still super impressive considering he started after being on base nine times in an eighteen inning game.

00:28:51
Speaker 1: I mean, there's no way he had a whole lot.

00:28:56
Speaker 3: Left in his legs at that point, and yet he was still out there throwing nine nine hundred an hour, and you know, he was executing fairly well. He made one bad pitch to Laddie and he you know, he obviously got the home run on that, but it was like for him to be able to do that is just selling way to get the job done. It was just incredible.

00:29:24
Speaker 6: By the way, Max, did y'all get to give Muki a little bit of grief after that nine to nine at nine times on base for show?

00:29:31
Speaker 5: Hey?

00:29:31
Speaker 6: Because I know Muki. I played with Muki. He's a competitor. Was he mad that they kept walking him and.

00:29:36
Speaker 5: He couldn't get it?

00:29:37
Speaker 6: Was like, Oh, come on, Mookie, just one time, right, I know, and then you guys win.

00:29:41
Speaker 5: So there had to be somebody. Maybe it was Key K.

00:29:44
Speaker 6: Maybe someone was like, hey, MOOKI you know, if you just get one hit, we don't have to go eighteen minutes.

00:29:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think anyone said anything Tomoki because we all we all know how much he.

00:29:53
Speaker 1: Was wearing that on his sleeve. Anyways, Yeah, you know, he he.

00:29:57
Speaker 3: Obviously felt that he should have done a way better job, you know, offensively in this series. But at the end of the day, we get we got the win, and that's really all that matters. And a lot of that was because of what he's able to do for us on defense.

00:30:11
Speaker 1: And so.

00:30:13
Speaker 3: You know, Mookie definitely had his thumping on this on this World Series. Despite what he might think about it, he had his thumper on this World Series and he we don't win without.

00:30:22
Speaker 6: Him, agreed, and he should have and I think he should have been he should have won the Gold Glove. I know Mason win had a great year, but I thought Mookie, for what he did, he should have won the Gold Glove.

00:30:32
Speaker 3: I you know, unfortunately, I don't think changing positions ever plays into the Gold Glove voting, But I I happen to agree with you just you know, you're talking about a guy going from right field to being one of the best defensive shortstops in baseball. Even if there's a guy that had a little bit better numbers like I think that should play into it a little bit. But Mason Win definitely deserved ring of the Gold Glove. Let's not take that away from him. He's an unbelievable shortstop. So I want to make sure that we're not trying to take that away from him. But I do think that there should be a little bit of that in terms of the voting for Mookie on it. I think he should have got it, but Mason Winn also definitely deserving, and so I don't want to take anything away from him.

00:31:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a great narrative there. I mean, you just you don't move from outfield to short stuff like that in your career.

00:31:27
Speaker 1: We just don't see it at all.

00:31:28
Speaker 2: It's totally overlooked because there's too many other shiny objects right now in terms of storylines with your team.

00:31:33
Speaker 3: But hey, man like guys from the outfield to the infield, and then he has numbers that are on par with who I think is the best defensive shortstop in baseball, with Mason Winn.

00:31:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's just incredible to me.

00:31:48
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for all of us, it will not go overlooked. We will talk about it plenty. We're on every day for two hours so we're on it. Max, thank you so much for joining us. Congratulations, get some rest, and we'll catch up with you later this offseason.

00:32:03
Speaker 1: All right, sounds great, guys, Thanks for having me on.

00:32:05
Speaker 2: The Max Monty Conversation for a moment. We got some extended time with Max and it was well worth it. I mean, AJ, there was probably ten other topics that we had lined up with that we didn't even have time for him because it was one of those world series and really postseasons that you just had a lot of things to ask guys when you had more time.

00:32:23
Speaker 1: You know.

00:32:23
Speaker 2: It's these were not whole hum games. Some of these games had like five to seven moments where you could do an hour conversation on what happened.

00:32:32
Speaker 5: Uh.

00:32:32
Speaker 6: Yeah, we didn't even get into Rookie Sazaki taken over. I mean, he's I could think of I could think of a whole slew of things I wanted to ask Max about situational stuff that happened. What does Dave Roberts say to him at certain points in this series? Does he even talk to him? Does he just know he's got a bunch of veterans that could handle things. I mean, there was a million questions I had for Max. He was awesome, by the way, I mean just absolutely awesome, coming on here, giving us inside the clubhouse, inside what they're talking about inside, I mean him, to him and Will Smith, I'm sorry, I love you Max.

00:33:00
Speaker 5: Will Smith was not throwing that ball. I promise you Will Smith was not throwing that ball. Ball. I would have thrown that ball, and nobody would have thrown that ball in that situation.

00:33:09
Speaker 4: They talked about it. So now you know your money, all Max's money, and all the show his money.

00:33:16
Speaker 5: Here's tough. Here's the thing though, they talked about it. You know.

00:33:20
Speaker 6: I mean, like I told Max, how many things I talked about and I didn't do. Man, Man, I'm gonna pick this dude off. I'm gonna go deep off this guy and it doesn't happen. Yeah, okay, Yeah, you can talk about it. Don't talk about it, be about it.

00:33:33
Speaker 4: Nobody throwing that ball.
