You know, what I mean. 00:01:45 Speaker 4: Think about old woman who didn't just ride the waves. She created her own platform with Kresha Please, rapped up hundreds of millions of streams and built the mobile level brand while she has. 00:02:00 Speaker 2: That's just from you, y'all want to know. 00:02:03 Speaker 4: That's why your business in fashion you think about a great mother, survivor, taste making rising solo stalls dropping. The dating you giving full of too fun and straight Miami energy ladies and gentlemen makes some noise for young man. 00:02:27 Speaker 2: That was an introductory piece. I gotta re save you. I got thank you, yo? What's good with you? Man? Yo? 00:02:39 Speaker 1: Carisa, let me tell you something. First of all, thank you for coming. You know, this show is dedicated to hip hop, hip hop culture, the hip hopic experience, and you, like you love to do what we do. But when I say said I'm coming over here to talk to you, I said, I wanted to know how Caresha grew up. And everybody know Fat Joe grew up in the Bronx, he was a hustle or whatever. We all got our stories. I never heard how you really grew up, Like, how you grew up? What part of Miami? How did you grow up? With your mom's and popstill was you know, what was it like coming to have been well in in the most like I want somebody to learned something from me. 00:03:29 Speaker 2: And not Locka. 00:03:34 Speaker 5: Miami upper Locka. I didn't grow grow up with a mommy dad. My mom was a booster missus, you know, booster, sell her clothes out the trunk. 00:03:44 Speaker 2: My dad sold drugs. He was in the figs. 00:03:46 Speaker 5: They both was like in Manishield, but they made sure I had a good life for the most part. But I grew up with a mom and dad. Both was tustlers, and you know, and miamis run up, is fast, so I grew up seeing mom booths. I I grew up seeing dead sale drugs. But I grew up seeing hustlers, you know, doing whatever I gotta do, being eating dark sheet beat their heads. 00:04:09 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:04:10 Speaker 1: You know my studio, well, our studio is right by Open Loca, so, believe it or not, for twenty years up there in that Open Loca area doing all my music down in Miami. So the Open Loca, that's where they got that that big Haitian sign, right, the big Haitian flag or for the ninety five like one thirty fifth right open lockers one thirty fifth Circle house and all that. So you grew up in the streets. Basically you become a young lady. Right, you had a baby at a young. 00:04:44 Speaker 2: Age, right, I am I nabe when I was nineteen. Yeah, that's about right for the hood. 00:04:50 Speaker 1: Actually, actually we're gonna give a PhD fen nineteen old school. 00:04:56 Speaker 2: Now. I think that's kind of like feel people have. 00:05:00 Speaker 5: Babies fifteen sixteen seventeen, I had out maybe once I graduated school. I graduated. 00:05:07 Speaker 2: You graduated school better? Better I ain't graduate. I told my woman. They say I don't graduate. 00:05:13 Speaker 5: I don't like school, but I'm I'm gonna get my high school the tummer. But afterday, I ain't going to college, baby girl, I don't think. 00:05:19 Speaker 1: I don't want to. Why everybody, you know, college just prepare you for a job, and we boss, we don't know shit about being workers and nothing like that. So college, to me, it prepared you to be the best worker. You could be disciplined and all that. The only good thing I would say about college from my experience. I definitely didn't go to no fucking college. I got a doctorate. 00:05:43 Speaker 2: Though. 00:05:44 Speaker 1: My experience is you can network, and you mean, like put like that, like Michael Jordan's son went to college with these dudes and now they run his stores and all that. 00:05:55 Speaker 2: They you know, it's great for networking. 00:05:58 Speaker 1: Besides that, you know, I've never been I've been an entrepreneur since I'm fourteen years old. I don't know how to work for somebody. Yeah, you know, so college to me, it ain't Yeah, I mean you probably would have had a lot. You went to Atlanta all the day that Atlanta College didn't turned that ship up? 00:06:15 Speaker 2: Yeah I did. 00:06:15 Speaker 5: I love the HBUs. I think they're like, college is an experience, all right. Sometimes I wish I went to college. I be like, damn, I wish I just went with the experience. 00:06:23 Speaker 2: Yeah, I get that, Get I get that. You know what I'm saying. 00:06:27 Speaker 1: It looks like front and I'd have fucked up in college. I'd have been out for six months for sure. I would have been once my man from a tarik from all how was I'd have been hosting all that that. It'd been like, yoll, get well, I know somebody who hustled in college. But you know I yeah, anyway, everybody stay in school. But all of that you heard about, you know, your background opavaka. 00:06:55 Speaker 4: Now you turned in this new chapter thirty two with everything you will COMPI how does it feel now looking back? 00:07:04 Speaker 5: If it was great? I think that life is like a learning process. I think that we're gonna continue to make mistakes to as long as we growing. And I always live at back and be like, damn, I came so far into you where I am today, Like I really take care of my family, like my mom and dad husted to take care of me, and now I take. 00:07:26 Speaker 2: Care of my mom and I love that. Like when I look bad, I'm gonna again push me. She drives the same car as me. She good. I just be like, damn, I love that for me because I watched her go so hard. She's beautiful. 00:07:40 Speaker 5: Tooma is like one of those parents that does not play about her kids, like her kids can't do no wrong. 00:07:46 Speaker 2: Sometimes I have to tell her mom wrong, I'm wrong. It's okay to tell me. Times you gotta tell all my mom's just the same way I been talking about mom. It's like, it's okay, I'm wrong. 00:07:58 Speaker 1: I used to sit my mom down and I'll be like, because you know, this rap game, this shit ugly, especially with social media and all that so I would actually fly to Miami, sit down with my mom and be like some bullshit is coming up or whatever. 00:08:13 Speaker 2: She was like, man, fuck that, let's go to walk. 00:08:16 Speaker 1: Like yeah, man, you know my mom she used to work in the number spot, So my mom's always been from the you know. 00:08:22 Speaker 2: But I couldn't move my mother out the project. I was rich. 00:08:27 Speaker 1: She would not move out the project. So there's times I spent Christmas double Platinum, New Year's with the limo outside, the whole crew waiting up in the jets, happy New Year, like yo j loo having a body, Let's get the fuck at Like, she wouldn't move till I finally told her, I see your mother. They gonna which was a lie, but I said like, Yoma, they want to kill me. They're gonna kill me if I keep coming in. I'm telling you, they want to kill me. So I gassed and I went and bought the house in Miami. But I used to go to my mom's. I mean, just before she passed away, I was still just sitting there and like, yo, mom, I'm about to cease. 00:09:05 Speaker 2: You know, I'm about to set it off. We're about to know why didn't want to move? She another project. I saw. She knew. 00:09:12 Speaker 1: She was there for forty years before I was born. So my whole family existence was in the projects, in the Bronx. So they didn't they thought that was it, you know. 00:09:22 Speaker 2: What I mean. They didn't know no better. 00:09:25 Speaker 1: She was like somebody the whole neighborhood and the whole building love. So it was like she you know, I could get it, but I can't get it now. 00:09:34 Speaker 2: Now your son. 00:09:35 Speaker 1: Now I'm pulling up. There's no way to front like I ain't rich. I'm pulling up in the half a million dollar cars and all that. The neighborhood know what it is with Joe Krack and my mom's and Pops sitting in front of the building talking shit, arguing with people this and this and that, they acting like they don't know what's up. And I'm like, yo, y'all gotta go like, y'all gotta get the fuck up at it. And I remember, even when I went through, I said this. I think I said this to somebody. Yeah, you know, I've repeated for my ship legendary. I didn't care no matter what I went through in the world. I bought my mother and father a house, and then that made me the most proudest. And it wasn't even an ill house like that, But pulling up to my mom's and pop's house, knowing where we came from would always make me feel better than even me pulling up to a man schin and some shit like that. 00:10:30 Speaker 2: It was like, Wow, I got my mom's home. 00:10:33 Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's it's one of the best field taking care of your parents. I think that's gonna always be. 00:10:39 Speaker 2: We were in film. When did you know that you wanted to be in the teammate business? I would say since high school. 00:10:47 Speaker 5: I was like, I don't know how I'm gonna be famous and reach, but I'm gonna get there. I was just always manifesting me because I knew I couldn't be I ain't never have a desire to work, like to work a job. So I wanted to be rich and famous, and I always expoke it myself. 00:11:03 Speaker 2: I think women, certain women are born to be a certain lifestyle. You know. 00:11:13 Speaker 1: I remember when I was in the FEDS in the FBC, they used to tell me stories about tree Man. 00:11:17 Speaker 2: They used to be like, yeo, she was in high school. 00:11:21 Speaker 1: The planning Earth was pulling up to that high school trying to get with us like they knew. 00:11:27 Speaker 2: She was top. 00:11:28 Speaker 1: I think you know, you know, it's something special about you when you feel like, all right, look, I'm gonna make it on my own. I'll bust my ass, but I'm definitely gonna live a certain lifestyle that I love it. 00:11:41 Speaker 2: And that's what I feel like. 00:11:42 Speaker 1: I feel like I love and I enjoy that you live a great lifestyle and all that now, But I never felt like people understood like your upgrade bringing. I never caught it like that, Like I never got the stories of people like yo, I grew up in career show or whatever case may be. 00:12:01 Speaker 2: So now you hear man success. 00:12:08 Speaker 6: Yo, Yo. 00:12:08 Speaker 7: We just want to let y'all know eighteen hundred is official to kill up Joe and Jada. 00:12:14 Speaker 2: We're doing it big right now. 00:12:15 Speaker 1: We're keeping it eighteen hundred to premiere tequila. And let me tell you something. This eighteen hundred something special. When me and Jada get on that eighteen hundred, it's fire. You can see we got that Raine special bottle staple known for craftsmanship and consistency. 00:12:34 Speaker 3: You know what I mean? 00:12:35 Speaker 2: Eighteen hundred, eighteen hundred. 00:12:41 Speaker 1: I used to hear was that you or was it jt that they were shooting at the car and noll lest I want to. 00:12:48 Speaker 2: Touch you up. Oh god, I was trench. No, they were shooting that up. That stretch got a shout out. When I was six months pregnant, I was leaving. 00:12:58 Speaker 1: Yes, I was even motherfucker's just telling me, like, Yo, they shoot the city girls up. 00:13:04 Speaker 2: I said, Yo, what they're like? 00:13:05 Speaker 8: Yo? 00:13:05 Speaker 2: They shocked to shut up? Coming on, I'm like yocky six. 00:13:10 Speaker 5: Months I was pregnant. That was the most traumatizing moment. That ship was like it was so I remember that like it was yesterday. 00:13:20 Speaker 1: I was there almost like a story with what you dealing with a guy that was like have mad beef for something? 00:13:27 Speaker 2: I don't know. It was so it was a lot of weird shit went on. It was so weird shooting your car, rock, you're the city girls? Six months pregnant. I had to get out and right it was a lie. You had to get out of there, bro. 00:13:38 Speaker 5: Yes, because they shot out my not trying to press the gas it went and go. They shot at my tire. They were trying to get me. They were trying to off me. 00:13:47 Speaker 1: But Joe, but what's strong with But did see I always say that, he said, I repeat myself, but almost like you would get killed in the Bronx at the Dunken Donuts. Couldn't fucking anywhere in the world. I could be anywhere in the world, China, Africa, whatever. They not trying to kill me when I go to the Bronx. That's what somebody who think they know me try to come out their face. That's what it's always people you grew up with that feel like you won't do nothing serious to no matter how serious you are. Some people make the mistique and they catch hell back. 00:14:22 Speaker 2: Yeah, so that was you. 00:14:24 Speaker 1: Oh No, they catch one bad like bad, they catch that catch up legend. I don't play that ship. Did you have to move somewhere else, like Atlanta. 00:14:35 Speaker 5: New York? 00:14:36 Speaker 2: Something? 00:14:36 Speaker 1: Now, I say, broke, she grew up. Are you trying to say I'm over talking. I didn't say nothing. You said. 00:36:48 Speaker 5: I have a new album that's coming this summer, and the album is so good. The album is said I'm very excited about it. I think that it's going to show where I'm in the life. I get Verno who on the album. I answer, I answer all the questions that people are that they want to know. I get it too, all the things I get Verna Who, I get open, And I think it's just shows where I'm where I am in life right now, and I'm in a happy space. I am a huge woman in my new ever and I'm all right, I'm some noise for that. 00:37:30 Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question, right, because your biggest hits in all with the biggest hit was more like booty music, right, m hmm. Let me just explain something. I was dead when they signed Flow Riding for the first time. Shout out to my family out there. Class freezy, but e class was a real Miami rapper like you used to spit balls class No, no, not e class flow Riding. Floor Rider came out. I don't want some cake for my birthday. I want my cake Kevin day. Like he was spitting, like just like pit bull spit. They caught that lick cut. They never look back to the balls and raps and ship like that like you. I don't know why, maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like, Okay, no, she she got one. 00:38:22 Speaker 2: I got you want to like, I feel like you want to rap rap. I don't know why. I want to have fun. I mean I am rapping, I'm rapping, I'm praying, I'm paying out some like because I got it, I never heard it. I just feel like you want to rap. Like I wanted my ship. 00:38:42 Speaker 5: I want to talk about my life experiences. I want to I want to put my ship. I think music is therapy. I think that's why, like music feels good to people, like it don't matter what you're going through, and like it could be in a very free graduation they have anything, Like you can put on music and it can relate to the situation that you got going home. And I think that's kind of like what I did with my album. Yeah it's fun, yes, yes, uncle, it's all that, but I also got like some vulnerable moments on there. I also get open, like it's a lot of side to me. I am always going to be a city girl, but I'm also a mom, I'm also a daughter. 00:39:17 Speaker 2: I'm also a woman. And I think that you know, when you press pray, it's fun and you're gonna shed this here and you're like, damn, I wasn't expecting it from her. I know she could speak like that. I know she had metaphors. I know she could articulate herself like that. See, I knew she wanted to spit. I knew she wanted. 00:39:37 Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I knew she wanted to spec because what happens is in this rap game since the beginning of time, and I've been here since the beginning of time. 00:39:46 Speaker 2: You said that catch you see what's rainbow? All? Come on, maiga's just sick, sick. I like, I like that meat furdo. I ain't with the rainbow. With the rainbow. 00:40:03 Speaker 1: If I had it like that, I would give it to you. I was the type of nigga that if a girl says something like that, I might just give it to you. But to be honest with you, I ain't got it. 00:40:11 Speaker 2: Like that right now. All No, that's hers. Now we got my daughters is hers and herds. 00:40:19 Speaker 1: So now this ship had a control right now, this ship is like bang bang bang, I gotta this is a different type of thing going on. 00:40:27 Speaker 2: Now that's what it's about. Oh yeah, that's what it's about. 00:40:31 Speaker 1: Well, that's what it's about for me, you know what I'm saying. It's always been like I just like, see all my guys came today. They looking extra fly. They knew Kresha was in the building. Hey guys, they fits on, Sahn said, niggas looking splizzy out here. You mean they can't know you know what I'm saying. But that's what it's about. You know what I'm saying, taking care of the family. How about taking care of the family after life. That's the illest ship because you don't want the wamily after life. Meaning I'm trying to you, he mean after death. Yeah, right after death, after life? 00:41:12 Speaker 2: So what now you confused? 00:41:14 Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm like, she's right, You're right, You're right after death. But after death doesn't sound as good as after, you know, I know, I like, yeah, yeah, because you like, tell me about it. For me, said tell me about it. 00:41:28 Speaker 2: Gud. 00:41:29 Speaker 1: They sit on fire Netflix number one.
