00:00:01 Speaker 1: Hookome every one. 00:00:01 Speaker 2: It is Kentucky Sports Radio, Wednesday, January the twenty eight time. 00:00:06 Speaker 1: Matt Jones here still in Louisville in the snow. Ryan is in Lexington in the snow. 00:00:12 Speaker 2: Shannon's at the studio, Drew is colon oscapen it up, and so he will not be here today. You can give Seana Clark's puppet shop phone line eight five nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. A vision Auto glass text machine is seven seven two four five two five four in this diition sponsored by the t J. 00:00:28 Speaker 1: Smith Office. If you call TJ, he'll make them pay. 00:00:31 Speaker 2: Ryan awful game last night that we got to spend some time on today. But I'm not letting, uh letting this game completely ruin my vibe. I've had, uh you know, five very productive days of doing nothing in my house. 00:00:48 Speaker 1: I've enjoyed them. 00:00:50 Speaker 2: I like snow, and I like the excuse to not have to run around and be in Like anything you don't want to do, Shannon, you could just go well, I mean. 00:00:59 Speaker 3: It's exactly to do it. 00:01:02 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean like literally anything you can go yeah. 00:01:05 Speaker 2: Well, I mean the weather, I can't can't make that happen, so uh So even though that basketball game was pitiful, I'm not letting it ruin my jam today. 00:01:16 Speaker 4: I'm actually thinking about reading a book today. That's how bored I am. 00:01:20 Speaker 1: No, you're not you you don't have any books. What book are you going to read? Like you could? You don't have a book. 00:01:26 Speaker 4: Somebody gave me the Joe Creasing book after we talked about Joe creesing. It's sitting here staring me in the face. 00:01:31 Speaker 2: All right, so let me make a suggestion. I don't want this is one of these things like you don't read. So the first book Shennon's going to matter. He might never read again. 00:01:42 Speaker 3: That's true, you know what I mean. 00:01:44 Speaker 2: So the Joe Creasing book is about how Kentucky. It's interesting stories of Kentucky life in the seventies, which is almost sixty years ago now. 00:01:54 Speaker 1: So I do think maybe you should. 00:01:56 Speaker 2: Try something like a little more exciting to get you into this reading thing. 00:02:02 Speaker 4: Well, my choices are pretty slim. I mean, I've got like sis of them here. 00:02:06 Speaker 1: But did you have a you have a kindle? 00:02:08 Speaker 3: Why am I asking that? 00:02:09 Speaker 5: No? 00:02:11 Speaker 2: So you don't have anything, Okay, I've got Hey, Mitch, please, I've already read that the Cornbread Mafia. 00:02:21 Speaker 1: Have you read that? 00:02:22 Speaker 4: I've read some of it. 00:02:24 Speaker 1: Okay, so that's not starting. 00:02:26 Speaker 3: You read the table of contents. 00:02:27 Speaker 2: If I would bring you a book that you would like, I have some they have a lot of pictures. 00:02:31 Speaker 1: I feel like that would be good for you. But well, give it a shot. Hopefully you'll you'll like it. 00:02:39 Speaker 4: It can't be worse than the game, amen, can't. 00:02:43 Speaker 2: I have the last few games, for whatever reason, the first three four minutes, I've been like to turn it on or whatever not, but not to not last night I got I was right there at the beginning, and I can tell you the moment Ryan, I knew we were going to lose the tip off. 00:02:59 Speaker 4: Yeah, they tip it up. 00:03:01 Speaker 1: It wasn't the tip off. It wasn't the tip off because we won the tip if I think if we remember, yeah, it was for nothing. 00:03:11 Speaker 2: And Oway got a drive to the basket and had a wide open layup and he. 00:03:15 Speaker 4: Missed missed it. 00:03:17 Speaker 1: By the way, we. 00:03:18 Speaker 2: Went seven of nineteen last night on layups. I'm gonna read that stat again, seven of nineteen on layups. Vandy shot a higher percentage from three than we shot from layups. 00:03:32 Speaker 3: That's an amazing stat. 00:03:34 Speaker 2: I mean, that is incredible that that is exactly what happened when he missed that layup. And by the way, he's missed a lot of lamps this year. I like, I mean, the guys missed he missed two point blank, wide open at the basket. But when he missed the first one, I was like, it's just not happening. And then I think they came down hit a three on the next possession and it was seven to nothing, and I just knew it was over. And everything after that was kind of watching the inevitable. 00:04:05 Speaker 1: It was. It was pitiful. 00:04:06 Speaker 2: I gave a lot of these stats on the post game, but they're worth sort of mentioning. Again, eight games this year on the road or neutral court, we've been down double digits in all eight. We've been down seventeen and seven of the eight. That's a ludicrous stat. 00:04:23 Speaker 4: That's ridiculous. 00:04:24 Speaker 2: We've played fourteen major conference teams this year home and away. We've been down at halftime in twelve of the fourteen games. 00:04:32 Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, Okay, by double digits most of those. 00:04:36 Speaker 1: This is the craziest stat. We've played forty Power four teams in two seasons. 00:04:43 Speaker 2: We've been down Shennon by fifteen at halftime in ten of those forty one out of every four. 00:04:51 Speaker 3: That is not Kentucky basketball. 00:04:53 Speaker 2: One out of every four times we play a Power four team, we're down fifteen at halftime. That's pathetic. And you know, I'm not done with Mark Pope. I'm not you gotta fire. I'm not any of that. He's gonna be the coach next year. And I absent an absolute complete collapse support that. But you know, statistics. My man likes statistics, he likes analytics. I'm gonna give him some analytics. He's the worst first half coach I've seen in a long time. 00:05:31 Speaker 1: Now, I'm not saying he's the worst coach. 00:05:33 Speaker 2: I think he's actually been an excellent second half coach, but I've. 00:05:39 Speaker 1: Never seen I've never seen a coach in my life be so awful. 00:05:43 Speaker 2: At the first half, which means he's got to be doing something wrong. And I would say, I understand how hard it is to get to ask Mark Pope questions. He does press conferences once a week at noon on Mondays. He does a call and show where they don't take calls. Really, the only person that talks to him consistently asking questions? Is Tom Leech, But someone has to ask him the question, what do you think you are doing wrong and motivating this team to start the game. You have to ask him that because we've had different players, we're playing different teams, but we're awful. 00:06:24 Speaker 1: In the first half pretty much, no matter what. 00:06:28 Speaker 2: Has there been a game against a good team where we've been up fifteen at half time? 00:06:32 Speaker 4: No way? 00:06:33 Speaker 2: Now I'm being serious, Can you think of one? Is there one game that you can remember against a power for team where. 00:06:40 Speaker 1: We were up fifteen and a half time? 00:06:42 Speaker 4: I can't think of one. 00:06:44 Speaker 2: I'm sure there is one, but it can't be more than one or two. And if that's true, then that's a failure of preparation. Ryan, And that's my biggest takeaway from last night. 00:06:58 Speaker 1: I thought we were gonna lose. 00:06:59 Speaker 2: I thought we could lose by a lot, But the way we lost, where the game was never ever even in consideration, it's just more than I It's just unacceptable, And like he has to answer for that. He deserves to answer the question of the fans, why do we start this poorly every game? I'm not mad at you, Mark, just help me understand and don't tell me that it's like data and all this nonsense. Why are we so bad to start all these games both years? Okay, not just this year, but last year too. 00:07:32 Speaker 4: It's you're right. It seems like they're not prepared. Like you know, on defense, they're giving up way too many looks. Okay, you knew what Vandy's offense was. You knew they were gonna try to shoot threes, and we give up wide open threes. 00:07:44 Speaker 1: Also got beat on the glass, got beat on. 00:07:46 Speaker 4: The glass when we had the height advantage we had with an area we could have, you know, maybe taken advantage of. And on offense, it seems like they have no clue what they're doing on offense, Like I have no idea what kind of offense they're trying to run. 00:07:58 Speaker 2: At times, they changed their offense game by game, they changed their offense half by half. 00:08:05 Speaker 1: I said this last night. 00:08:06 Speaker 2: You could pick ten random halves from UK games this year, and you would think you were if it was if you didn't see the faces of the players, you'd think you were watching different teams. They don't even they don't even attempt to play the same. Whatever they played last night is the worst fifty five points. Come on, they shot the ball poorly. Some of it was they missed open shots, but a lot of it is they just go one on one and at some point they shoot yep, and that's this team's not good enough to do that. I mean, it's not a great offensive style anyway, but it's certainly not a great offensive style when we've got these guys. 00:08:44 Speaker 4: Yeah, Jimmy Diyke said a couple of times, it looked like Kentucky's offense has just set a pick for Otega and let him drive. That's it. That's the only thing they're doing. 00:08:51 Speaker 1: But he's not good enough to do that. 00:08:53 Speaker 2: I mean, he and Aberdeen had what thirty five of the fifty five points. 00:08:57 Speaker 4: Yes, they did, but. 00:08:58 Speaker 2: They also had forty percent of the shots. So it was very disappointing. Now, I'm not going hey seasons over blah blah blah. 00:09:11 Speaker 1: The question is who is Kentucky. 00:09:13 Speaker 2: Is Kentucky the team that won five straight or is Kentucky the team that four times this year has absolutely been humiliated. 00:09:24 Speaker 1: Or is it in between? I would argue Ryan, it's both. 00:09:29 Speaker 2: Okay, this is a team that can embarrass you as badly as any team I can remember, but it's also a team that oddly finds a way to sometimes play above its head. 00:09:43 Speaker 1: So I don't think it's either. I think it's both, and I think that. 00:09:47 Speaker 2: Honestly leads to a season where fans are just gonna have to be frustrated and will be frustrated most of the year. 00:09:52 Speaker 4: I think you hit on my biggest fear. I mean, as bad as last night was, it could be worse. On Saturday. 00:09:57 Speaker 2: This will happen at Lee. I don't know if it's gonna happen at our Arkansas. It may this is gonna happen at least once, maybe twice. 00:10:04 Speaker 1: Yep. 00:10:05 Speaker 3: Again, this year, it could have been a lot worse. Last night. Vanda didn't even really play that well. They didn't even really shoot the ball that well. And I mean they were averaging ninety points a game. 00:10:12 Speaker 4: So it just did have been your average because that was the hold in the ball with four minutes to go, and they really that. 00:10:18 Speaker 1: Honestly, that may have been the saddest thing. I think they felt sorry. 00:10:22 Speaker 4: For us, just to held the ball to the end of the shot clock. 00:10:25 Speaker 2: They literally would just hold it and be like, all right, well, we know they're not gonna score. It was like watching a Mountain football game where like Pike Bull's playing against Phelps and at. 00:10:36 Speaker 1: The end they're like one yard dive. Man. Yeah, that's kind of what they were doing. 00:10:40 Speaker 3: If they don't play any better than this on Saturday, it's gonna get really really ugly. 00:10:45 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it is. 00:10:46 Speaker 2: But that's really not my concern because because it's gonna be even if it's not Saturday, it's gonna be ugly in these games. 00:10:51 Speaker 1: I am, I am. 00:10:53 Speaker 2: What concerns me is not even so much this year, although we still are not certainly in the tournament. That's the thing I keep coming back to. We gotta still find, in my opinion, four wins to make the tournament. And you look on the schedule when you when you want and see where those four are. 00:11:09 Speaker 1: I think four will get you in. 00:11:10 Speaker 2: But we got to get four, and there's ten left and eight of them are really hard. So but my bigger point is why can't Mark Pope prepare these teams for these games? I would argue the two tests, the two things that really smart coaches should be the best at are game plans and in game adjustments. 00:11:35 Speaker 1: You might not be great motivators. You might not be great recruiters. You might not even be great at connecting with your talent. 00:11:43 Speaker 2: Those are skills that like are different than intelligence in some ways. But the ability to game plan and to make in game adjustments for a smart coach, that should be your bread and butter, right, Like, that's like it's like in life, Shannon. 00:12:00 Speaker 1: You might be really smart. 00:12:01 Speaker 2: You might not have any friends, right, you might not have any dates, but you should do well on the test. 00:12:07 Speaker 3: Yeah, you can be well at something. 00:12:08 Speaker 1: You gotta be good at something. Yeah, all right, we didn't create this roster. 00:12:13 Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't feel like they really connect very well. It doesn't feel like they really like each other very much. 00:12:21 Speaker 1: But we should be good at game planning and we should be good at adjustments. We seem like we're all right at adjustments. 00:12:28 Speaker 2: But this game planning is for the birds because we are coming out and getting. 00:12:34 Speaker 1: Destroyed in every game. And Ryan, that's embarrassing. 00:12:39 Speaker 2: If it was not a coach named Mark Pope, who was who was very smart and we all know is intelligent, we would go that's a person who doesn't know how to prepare for basketball, wouldn't we? 00:12:50 Speaker 1: With these results, you'd. 00:12:52 Speaker 4: Think as smart as he is, again, as analytical as they would be over prepared, they would know exactly what the other pont's gonna do instead of the opposite, like they have no clues, like what they're gonna do. 00:13:01 Speaker 2: Well, And I think even more basically, we don't have a clue what we're gonna do. 00:13:04 Speaker 4: Yeah, good point. 00:13:06 Speaker 3: So Race to fifteen hit again last night on Draft Cans. 00:13:09 Speaker 2: I mean, it's gonna hit every game with the year easier, Like I I honestly just wonder if for Kentucky fans they should just wait till eight minutes left in the first half and check the score and decide if they want to watch the game. Yeah, because the first twelve minutes we'll just drive you insane if you do it. Eighth twenty two eighty seven. I promise you I'm not doing this the whole day. I got other things to talk about. We found in a billion I found an amazing hat last night. 00:13:35 Speaker 3: Yeah I saw that. Yeah. 00:13:36 Speaker 1: Uh, we're gonna talk about, you know, colonoscopies. 00:13:42 Speaker 2: When the guy who shut the guy who shovel I borrowed, he got me back yesterday. 00:13:47 Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know. 00:13:48 Speaker 2: If he's a listener to this show. But he got me back, and I got to give him a shout out for getting me back. He got me back in a very creative way. 00:13:57 Speaker 1: So we'll talk about that more. This is Kasar Welcome back. 00:14:02 Speaker 2: Take any Sports Radio eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, texta Machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four one person rights, Matt. 00:14:10 Speaker 1: What makes me mad. 00:14:11 Speaker 2: About these games you talked about is we've never been in them at any point. Those four games I mentioned, we weren't in them once. Michigan State, Gonzaga, Alabama Vandy. We were never in those games ever at any point during the game. Louisville we got down twenty, but we led early and we even kind of came back and where they are right at the end. But those four games we were never in, which makes for a very unpleasant experience, Ryan, when you don't even get one moment of joy. 00:14:38 Speaker 4: What is it about the city of Nashville and Kentucky this year? 00:14:40 Speaker 2: Well, how about this stat last three games Kentucky's played in Nashville, we've lost by eighty nine points. 00:14:49 Speaker 3: Oh my god. 00:14:50 Speaker 4: And the football team got wax too this year. 00:14:53 Speaker 1: I mean, let me. Let me say that again. 00:14:55 Speaker 2: We've played three games there. The last three games in less than a year. We've lost by eighty. 00:15:01 Speaker 4: Nine points, Oh my goodness. 00:15:02 Speaker 2: Twenty five last night, thirty five, and in the SEC game against Alabama last year twenty nine. 00:15:09 Speaker 3: And that's where you're a hardcore fans. That's the SEC Tournament for the Gonzaga game. 00:15:14 Speaker 2: Well, they're gonna stop coming if you're not careful. I mean, you can't keep asking these people to pay this kind of money and get absent. But Nashville is, in my opinion, when you get outside of the state of Kentucky, it's the hardest core Kentucky city, more so than Indianapolis, Cincinnati. 00:15:33 Speaker 4: It's Nashville by far, not even closed. 00:15:36 Speaker 2: And man, I mean, I'm going to the SEC Tournament either way, but we can't take another one down there. 00:15:46 Speaker 3: To spend all that money. And that's what that's the reward you get is to watch them get blown out. 00:15:52 Speaker 2: They've lost the two games this year by sixty and never been in either one of them for even a minute, and either see either. 00:16:00 Speaker 1: One of them. That's terrible. 00:16:02 Speaker 2: One person writes Matt thing that made me the maddest last night is when the video was posted of the guys. 00:16:08 Speaker 1: Saying touch money before the game. 00:16:11 Speaker 2: I was shocked you didn't mention it online and you only mentioned it a second at the end of the postgame show. 00:16:16 Speaker 1: Why doesn't it bother you. 00:16:19 Speaker 2: I don't get mad at slogans because I don't usually know what they mean. Shannon, Yeah, yeah, I mean like I don't. I'm not sure that I've known what a college kid was saying when they were doing slang since I was like in my late twenties and I'm not there anymore. 00:16:38 Speaker 1: So touch money. 00:16:40 Speaker 2: You know, if you're if you're old, or if you're even if you're just like not in the rap, you might say, well, that means all they care about is money. Well, apparently it's a phrase you used to say, touch money, like focus, we're separating, let's focus on the goal, And they don't mean the goal is like actually money. It's like the men a phorical goal of money success. Right now, what I've advised as a PR person, Shannon, say touch money before you walk out. 00:17:09 Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't even say the M word, don't even mention. I wouldn't have advised no, no dollars, no nothing. 00:17:14 Speaker 2: But at the same time, though, I don't think it's like some philosophical thing that says we only care about money. So I think you gotta be really careful when you take, like project your feelings about something to a vocabulary that you're not really part of. 00:17:30 Speaker 4: Right, Young adults speak a different language than we speak. And it's when I saw that, I just I just knew it had to be something. And there was some rap song that's mentioned in it had an alternate meeting then what we literally took it as. 00:17:42 Speaker 3: Yeah, because if those later as saying let's go get that money. 00:17:45 Speaker 2: Can I I don't know, my mom's gonna kill me if I tell this story. 00:17:52 Speaker 4: It's just me and Shannon. 00:17:53 Speaker 3: Yeah, we're friends here. 00:17:55 Speaker 2: She's right now going don't say because I think she knows what I'm gonna say. 00:17:59 Speaker 3: That's okay. 00:18:02 Speaker 2: This example what I'm talking about, all right, When I was in law school, I started dating a woman and she was from Oregon. 00:18:10 Speaker 1: And this is early on in the internet. 00:18:12 Speaker 2: Right right, Okay, And she had to for a class project when she was in college. 00:18:17 Speaker 1: Put up a website. 00:18:19 Speaker 2: You had to build a website, okay, and she named her and this was let's just say this wasn't her name, but let's say her name is Sarah. She named hers Sarah's dope blank cuss word. 00:18:31 Speaker 1: Okay, that was the name of the website. Okay, Sarah's dope s word. 00:18:37 Speaker 2: Follow me, Shannon, Yeah, my mom called me. She was worried that my then girlfriend sold drugs because of the word dope. 00:18:49 Speaker 6: Okay, she meant dope like cool, yeah, right, But the point was like she didn't know what that word was, and she was taking her definition of dope, which as a prosecutor. 00:19:03 Speaker 1: Was dope, and she thought, wait a minute, who's Matthew dating. I think that's what happens with this video. 00:19:12 Speaker 3: You see where your mom now. 00:19:15 Speaker 1: You are. I'm not understood your hip. 00:19:18 Speaker 3: That's right, you're forget. 00:19:20 Speaker 1: Yeah, but I do think right, and that's what it is, so it doesn't bother me, is my point. 00:19:23 Speaker 4: And then the timing was horrible, that video coming out after you just got spanked on and looked awful. People were already mad about the twenty two million dollars roster. Then that video comes out just added to it. 00:19:33 Speaker 2: I think, yeah, I just turned my notifications off so I can't see my mom's frustrated text because. 00:19:39 Speaker 1: I know it's coming in you. I mean it wasn't. But that is funny. Sh She's so dope. 00:19:45 Speaker 3: It's okay, yeah, we don't understand that. 00:19:48 Speaker 1: Who's up the first? Mike, Mike, go ahead, Mike. 00:19:52 Speaker 7: Hey, guys, uh so I want to read something. Give me just one second, okay, give me. 00:19:58 Speaker 2: Maybe go you got you can't pre please say I'm gonna you go, and I'll. 00:20:03 Speaker 7: Decide you're gonna like this. John Wooden, the legendary U c l A. Bruins men's batt famously taught a famously taught his players how to properly put on their stocks and how to tie their shoes at the beginning of every season. This ritual was designed to prevent blisters and instill the importance of discipline and fundamentals. I'm gonna stop right there, but what I want to say is this is when I played basketball, football, basket. You know, rastle did all that stuff when I was younger. Everything is about fundamentals, Everything is about discipline in sports. It's always about how you position yourself and do things. Rebounding last night and not just last night, but I've watched. 00:20:58 Speaker 2: They they don't buy out, they don't but they don't box out and that and that's and it's something sometimes. The only person on the team that ever box out is Brandon Garrison, and he doesn't do it well because he'll like put his arms around somebody. But most people do not box out at all, and they just better be in the right place. 00:21:18 Speaker 1: And that is very It's frustrated me all year. 00:21:21 Speaker 2: It's not worked out as poorly as I thought it would because our guards do sometimes crash the glass, which makes up for it, but they do not box out. And last night our guards didn't crash the glass, and it just made for a disaster. 00:21:33 Speaker 7: But is this something now? I mean getting low, getting your butt down, pushing somebody out, I mean we know. 00:21:41 Speaker 1: We do not box out. We do not. 00:21:44 Speaker 2: It's and I were gonna have to go to break. I appreciate the call, but we don't. I've watched it all year. It's driven me crazy all year. Again, we have some athletes, especially with moreno uh and and and you know Diabate will be physical, but he often is just pushing people. 00:21:59 Speaker 1: In the back. We don't box out, Ryan, and it drives me inside. 00:22:03 Speaker 4: And the guy I rebounded the team like all night long, and they got every rebound, every loose ball they executing on offense. We act like we have no clue what we're doing on offense. 00:22:12 Speaker 1: Yeah, it was bad. 00:22:14 Speaker 2: Now again, I'm gonna tell the story about the guy here in a minute. Did my mom text? YEP, already text I can't even read. We'll take a break. Be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio. 00:22:25 Speaker 3: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:22:28 Speaker 1: He'll make them pay. 00:22:29 Speaker 3: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, present it by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. 00:22:34 Speaker 1: Welcome back, Tukey Sports Radio. AF. I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. One person says Matt. 00:22:39 Speaker 2: Why in the world it's the text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Why in the world did you k let that video get out? Well, I mean you k didn't put it out. So at Vanderbilt it's an old school gym, and the the both the home and the visiting team come out from the same entrance, and so does the media. Like in every other school, like when Kentucky enters, like I can't get to where Kentucky's team is entering. 00:23:06 Speaker 1: It now has a wall. 00:23:08 Speaker 2: But at Vanderbilt y'all come out the same interest. So the media was standing there and it was the media that filmed SEC tournaments like that too. Right, you have to be you have to be careful if you're these teams. You gotta think about where you are. 00:23:21 Speaker 1: Vandy. 00:23:22 Speaker 2: I don't know about every school in the SEC, but Vandy's a school where the media is with you when you walk in the floor at the SEC tournament's like that too, So you gotta be extra careful what you do right there. 00:23:31 Speaker 4: Yeah, it's that famous fight coming out of the tunnel with Ramel Bradley and it was a Ron Sligh who was a Tennessee guy. He was going just to chess with you, might. 00:23:39 Speaker 2: Be right, And that's because the media is there. They see it, they're coming because y'all are all coming out the same tunnel. So you just you know, that was that's how that, uh that ended up ended up happening. One person says, Matt, you don't you say don't worry about slogans, yet you get mad at Maga. 00:23:57 Speaker 1: I don't think that's true. Shit, I don't mind the slogan. I just don't like the views. 00:24:02 Speaker 3: We all want America to be great. Yeah, why would you not want your own country would be great? 00:24:07 Speaker 2: The difference sween me and them is I already thought what America was great. They were hating on America saying it needs to be making America great again. I'm saying it already is. 00:24:17 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:24:17 Speaker 1: So I'm more patriotic you are. 00:24:22 Speaker 4: You're a patriot. 00:24:23 Speaker 1: I think we're always great. 00:24:26 Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go your mega Then. 00:24:30 Speaker 2: No, because I'm just mag No, I'm just ag America great. 00:24:36 Speaker 3: America is great. 00:24:37 Speaker 1: Hey, we don't need to make it or again, it's already great. 00:24:41 Speaker 4: Agg. 00:24:43 Speaker 3: Where's your hat? 00:24:46 Speaker 1: I ain't wearing red, I'm wearing blue. AG. Speaking of hats, can we talk about Billy's hat? That's all right? 00:24:57 Speaker 2: So somebody wrote on the text machine or somebody called in and said he was talking about how huge a UK fan he was, and he said he's so big a fan. He had a strutting with Sudden hat, which is a great slogan, shrutting with sudden. And I was like, oh, there's a hat that says that Billy very intelligently gets on eBay sees it's for sale. It's a great hat, says shrutting with sudden. It has a cat on it. And it has a picture of Eddie Sutton's face. 00:25:26 Speaker 1: Winking Wincoln who put a wink on there. That's great. 00:25:32 Speaker 2: So Billy's like, I think I should buy it's thirty five dollars, and I was like, you know, Shannon, a minute and a. 00:25:36 Speaker 1: Half is the delay? 00:25:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, you got a minute and a half to get it to get some store off the internet. You know, over the air, it's like seven seconds, but over on the internet it's like a minute and a half. So you got a chance. So he gets in there, he beats everybody buys it. Then we see there's another one that says the Lord is my shepherd, but Sutton is my coach. 00:25:58 Speaker 3: If not, doesn't some up what it means to be a Ktuch basketball fan. Nothing does. That's perfect. 00:26:02 Speaker 2: So so Billy buys it forty five dollars. By the end of the show, I offered him one hundred dollars for it, and he wouldn't sell it. 00:26:09 Speaker 3: Oh he should have taken that. 00:26:11 Speaker 1: You would have taken it. 00:26:12 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, sixty dollars profit, let's go. 00:26:14 Speaker 2: You would have taken it. But he did not, so he will have that hat coming. I didn't know that hat existed. It would have gone right next to my Billy Gillespie, Uh drink holder. 00:26:26 Speaker 1: You know that says Billy loves Doctor Pepper. I have that one. 00:26:30 Speaker 2: I could have put that on there. It would have been a great UK memorabilia Ryan, but Billy gets it. 00:26:35 Speaker 4: I think Billy said to Shannon on the pre show that he went on to eBay this morning and like all those hats are available last night, are all like either now one hundred and fifty dollars are already sold out? 00:26:44 Speaker 1: Yeah? 00:26:45 Speaker 3: Yeah, well we drove he drove the price up. 00:26:47 Speaker 2: They can well, we can think, although they can all think Billy I would like to have had it. 00:26:53 Speaker 1: Problem is Billy's got to know when to sell. Ryan. I think he already has missed. I think he missed his. 00:26:57 Speaker 4: Opportunity, miss the window. 00:26:59 Speaker 1: Who's going to give him a hundred dollars now? 00:27:03 Speaker 3: Probably nobody. 00:27:04 Speaker 4: He should have taken your Sean Sutton. 00:27:08 Speaker 1: What does he do now? 00:27:10 Speaker 4: I don't know. He was in coaching forever. I don't know what he's doing. 00:27:13 Speaker 2: What is the weirdest piece of UK memorabilia that you have because or that you know someone that has. Because I based on that hat last night, I'm now kind of of the I would like to have weird pieces of UK I think strutting with something with a wink on it is one of those. Can you think of a weird piece of memory? I told you about the thing hanging the woman, like the sexy woman hanging in the. 00:27:39 Speaker 1: Big Blue Deli. 00:27:40 Speaker 2: I've told you about her right, kind of the painting of the woman in a bikini at Big Blue Deli, but like not a bikini kind of a dress but like pretty hot UK fit but it was officially licensed. 00:27:52 Speaker 1: Where'd that come from? Do you know anything like that? 00:27:56 Speaker 4: No, I've I've got like the eight off Rup album where Al McGuire those guys sang on the on the Joby Hall album. 00:28:02 Speaker 2: That's a weird one where that that is a weird one. Where with the Joby Hall album where they got all the other coaches to sing with him. 00:28:10 Speaker 1: Can you imagine that happening now? 00:28:12 Speaker 3: Like Mark Pope singing with Rick and are. 00:28:15 Speaker 2: Doing do ads with Bill self the cow tom Izzo, they're singing together. 00:28:25 Speaker 3: It's a different time back then. 00:28:26 Speaker 1: That is a different time. 00:28:29 Speaker 2: Hey, guys, let's all go in the studio and cut some tracks. 00:28:35 Speaker 1: I can't believe that happened, was it? 00:28:37 Speaker 4: For like a fundraiser for a charity or something. 00:28:40 Speaker 1: Is that why they didn't care what it was for? What made everybody decide to go sing? 00:28:45 Speaker 2: I mean, hey, Bruce Pearl, will you come up here and sing with Mark Pope? 00:28:51 Speaker 1: What are you gonna sing? Oh? I don't know? America the Beautiful? All right, it's just a weird thing. 00:28:59 Speaker 3: I've already found all. I'm gonna play one coming back? 00:29:01 Speaker 4: Oh perfect? 00:29:02 Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, any other little good weird tidbits. 00:29:06 Speaker 4: I mean, I got that one hat from the ninety six championship game that is a reversible. It's a black hat on one side and you flip it out and it's a basketball head on the other side. That's my favorite hat I own. 00:29:16 Speaker 1: What do you mean, I don't know something that flip it out? 00:29:20 Speaker 4: It's like reversible, Like you know when the baseball players put the rally cap on, they put it inside out. 00:29:24 Speaker 1: Oh you can wear it inside out? Yes as a hat. 00:29:27 Speaker 4: Yes, you've seen it. You loved it. 00:29:30 Speaker 1: That's really weird. I bet it looks good on you too. 00:29:33 Speaker 3: I think the weirdest piece I have it is really not that weird. Remember when they had those construction helmets with the UK logo on it, and. 00:29:39 Speaker 1: Everybody got mad. The only game to the rich people. 00:29:41 Speaker 3: Well, I mean I'm not rich, but I got one. 00:29:43 Speaker 1: But yeah, you were with Michael Bennett though rich. 00:29:46 Speaker 3: Well, if anybody wants one of those, I've still got one. 00:29:51 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, those. 00:29:53 Speaker 2: I'm trying to think there's a certain style of the seventies i'd like to see. I remember that guy that came to Kospi at one time and sold all that vintage memorabilia. 00:30:02 Speaker 1: Problem was it was all small. I couldn't fit in it. 00:30:04 Speaker 2: I'd love to have bought so like those old silk coats and stuff. 00:30:08 Speaker 1: Problem was it was all the sizes were all little. There's next, Go to Bill, Bill, Go ahead, Bill, Hey, Matt, how you doing doing good? Hey? 00:30:19 Speaker 5: I was gonna just switch up a little bit. I know the game wasn't the best last night, But I had a couple quick questions for you. My wife and I we travel around all the baseball parks, were big Reds fans. Is there a stadium that you would suggest that may not be on the top of people's visiting list that you would suggest. And then my second question is is there any chance you and Drew might do like a podcast for the MLB, kind of like how you guys do with Cover zero. 00:30:48 Speaker 1: Thank you? 00:30:49 Speaker 2: Probably not because they would have to hire us and we haven't hear anything about it. I would say, I mean beyond everybody says, you know, go to Famway Park and go to where you the field, and that's true. I think Yankee Stadium is fun because the neighborhood it's in, like you're in the Bronx and you know, if you otherwise wouldn't you might not go the underrated stadiums to me that are really good. Pittsburgh, Yes, Pittsburgh has got a really, really nice, cool stadium and you wouldn't think to go there, but it's really really cool. So that's the one that sticks out to me as you might in your mind not think I want to go to Pittsburgh, but I'm a big fan rhine of the stadium in Pittsburgh. 00:31:30 Speaker 4: Those people like Tom Leach that go to all these different stadiums, they always say Pittsburgh now they they used to say Camdom Yard in Baltimore was another. 00:31:37 Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great, but people know that now. 00:31:38 Speaker 2: That was kind of the first stadium to like redo itself in a unique way. And I went there as a kid, as like in college, and it's great too, But I just the one for me. I've been out of about eighteen of them, and I think that's probably the one that you wouldn't think is necessarily great. 00:31:59 Speaker 1: That is that is is really cool. 00:32:01 Speaker 2: Eight five to nine, two eighth, twenty two eighty seven Bourbon Lovers kick off the new year with Commonwealth Causes. There's this just Joe Bah. 00:33:23 Speaker 3: It doesn't really. 00:33:24 Speaker 4: Say sound like a Joe B's solo with the background. 00:33:27 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:33:28 Speaker 2: Wow, Joby put out a set of songs that were all him singing. We've played We've done this before over the years, but it is kind of amazing to think about. 00:33:38 Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder how many albums of this song did it go platinum? 00:33:43 Speaker 2: I mean, I wouldn't be surprised. That's got to be up there. But I've got some other ones. One person writes, Matt, I have a Tubby Smith barbecue sauce. Did you know Tubby made barbecue sauce? 00:33:55 Speaker 4: No, I don't remember that one. 00:33:58 Speaker 1: I don't remember that one. I don't remember that one either. 00:34:02 Speaker 2: One person says, I have a strutton with Sutton shirt, but the wildcat has the same kind of afro haircut that Eddie. 00:34:10 Speaker 1: Sutton has nice? Why not? Yeah, people forget Eddie's hair was kind of like that back in the day. 00:34:17 Speaker 4: You know it was, Yes, it was. 00:34:18 Speaker 1: Here's an interesting one. 00:34:20 Speaker 2: I have a frame picture of Jared Carter, but it's signed by Dan Issel. 00:34:26 Speaker 3: Why why did somebody not know who I mean? 00:34:30 Speaker 1: I like you? 00:34:31 Speaker 2: Can you imagine if you were Dan Issel and somebody handed you a picture of Jared Carter and asked you to sign it. 00:34:38 Speaker 3: No, do you think this is me when I was younger? 00:34:43 Speaker 1: Who that? 00:34:43 Speaker 2: One person says Matt, I have a ninety six Converse blue jean jacket denim like the uniforms Oh, I bet that's that would be I bet you could get a lot of money for that, now, don't you think? Ryan? 00:34:56 Speaker 4: Yeah? I think I think Misty English wore one to one of our remotes one time. I think he's got one of those. 00:35:01 Speaker 2: One bird says, I have a DeMarcus Cousins T shirt that says in Kentucky, we love our cousins. 00:35:07 Speaker 3: That's horrible. 00:35:09 Speaker 1: That can't be real. I kind of like that, though. 00:35:13 Speaker 3: That's a good Virginia is a really good win. 00:35:17 Speaker 1: I have a picture. 00:35:18 Speaker 2: One person writes of Billy Gillespie, Alex Legion and the girlfriend and Alex Legion has signed it. 00:35:25 Speaker 4: No way, that's not bad. 00:35:27 Speaker 2: Right. Well I know the picture. I know the picture. I didn't know anyone would have it signed. 00:35:35 Speaker 1: That's a great picture from UK lore. There's a picture of them. I think they're at a football. 00:35:42 Speaker 4: Game, right Ryan, Yeah, football game. 00:35:44 Speaker 1: They're at a. 00:35:44 Speaker 2: Football game and they're all they're all kind of in a little group. Well that was a different time in UK in UK sports. Let me tell you quickly what happened with this guy yesterday in the shovel? 00:35:58 Speaker 1: Okay, so I. 00:36:00 Speaker 2: Remember you heard yesterday I borrowed nicely my neighbor's shovel. 00:36:06 Speaker 1: I didn't steal it. I knocked first, he didn't answer. 00:36:09 Speaker 2: So then I took the shovel, borrowed, excuse me, borrowed chin took it, dug my car out. He came outside, saw it. I said, hey, man, you don't mind, you mind if I borrow the shovel. He said sure, and then I went and brought it back. So yesterday I was in my house Shan and I heard a ruckus outside, and you know I have kind of a hill on the property right that goes from the my house down to the to the road. There were two kids sledding down my hill in my yard, and I wasn't gonna tell me, but I was like, okay, I mean, you're gonna just go sledding somebody's yard, Like, shouldn't you ask? 00:36:52 Speaker 1: And then I look outside and it's the dad is with his kids. 00:36:55 Speaker 2: And I opened the door and he goes, you don't mind if they slid, do you? 00:37:01 Speaker 3: You know you can't be the old guy get off my lawn. 00:37:03 Speaker 2: At that point, well, no, I mean he did exactly what I did to him, right, So of course I had to say, yeah, that's fine. But I did think to myself, well played, dude, you did exactly that. You were like, oh, I know a place where my kids can slid, Yeah, his yard, so right. I actually thought that was turnabout's fair play, so I was fine with it. 00:37:23 Speaker 4: I think he put the shovel incident in his back pocket and said, I'm going to use to my advantage. Kids want to go sledding, Okay, we're gonna go to the neighbors house. 00:37:30 Speaker 2: Well his, if I'm looking at his house, his is probably too steep. His kids would go barreling out in the road, and so I could see why he'd want to use ours. 00:37:40 Speaker 1: So it was I'm becoming a neighbor you are. 00:37:44 Speaker 3: Did you get his name? 00:37:46 Speaker 1: Of course not. 00:37:47 Speaker 3: He still don't know his name. 00:37:48 Speaker 1: I don't know anybody's name. 00:37:49 Speaker 4: I gotta ask you question. Is this the guy you had the T shirt incident with? 00:37:53 Speaker 2: Yeah? No, those that they're right next door to me and we don't speak. But they do have a window. Have you seen the window? If I if we talked about this, they have. 00:38:03 Speaker 1: A window where they have no curtains and no blinds on their house and it's just opened. 00:38:09 Speaker 3: M what do you see. 00:38:10 Speaker 1: I've seen some things. 00:38:13 Speaker 3: Yeah, you want to go a little further. 00:38:16 Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm just saying, you know, maybe get maybe get a curtain, just. 00:38:23 Speaker 3: Frobbly something free living that way. 00:38:26 Speaker 1: I think that's how I think from what I can tell them, that's how they are. 00:38:29 Speaker 3: Like if you see it, you see it. 00:38:30 Speaker 1: Yeah, they just they live. They're very much like. 00:38:32 Speaker 3: You don't like it, don't look. 00:38:33 Speaker 2: They always got signs in the yard for whatever the cause of the day is. You know, that's just kind of that, that's them. Yeah, but they see. You know, they don't seem to mind. So it's fine with me. 00:38:43 Speaker 3: Hoping you do. Look over, I have some company, all right. 00:38:47 Speaker 1: That's plenty. Doing great. You called last night at two am, doing great? What's up? 00:38:56 Speaker 9: I'm doing great, A little tired, but are doing well. I figure you know, we burned the tape from last night because that was a horrible game. So I gotta ask anything question. A couple of weeks ago, I think you had mentioned some sort of contest where at Chasmore, where people can pick the spreads of games or something like that. 00:39:16 Speaker 1: Yeah, we're still gonna We're still gonna do that. Where it's gonna be the second week. 00:39:21 Speaker 2: If we're gonna do it twice during the year, Uh, the first time I think is gonna be. Let me look at my calendar here. We're looking at either February tenth or eleventh or twelfth, like one of those three days, and Uh, what we're gonna do is, I'm gonna we're gonna have all the games that are on that night and everything on television. 00:39:44 Speaker 1: You're gonna pick it against the spread, and whoever. 00:39:46 Speaker 2: Does the best will win a part of a prize package of around two grand that'll come from our friends at Cornbread Himp. 00:39:56 Speaker 7: Okay, So we'll do that twice during the year. 00:39:59 Speaker 1: We'll do that probably the second week of February and then. 00:40:02 Speaker 2: The fourth week of February. So appreciate the call. So keep that on your I'll be talking more about it as we get closer. But it's gonna be a we'll see Ryan a pick them challenge to see who's the best at picking college basketball games. 00:40:14 Speaker 1: It'll be something fun to do. 00:40:15 Speaker 2: We're gonna do it on a night where Kentucky's not playing, so there's no stress. 00:40:19 Speaker 4: That's a that's a great because we pick with our hearts so often. My daver, if you stop betting on Kentucky, I think I'd be doing Okay, I just building my heart too much. 00:40:27 Speaker 2: But if you're like Shannon, you bet out Kentucky not to score fifteen the first fifteen points, you'd. 00:40:31 Speaker 1: Be killing it. 00:40:33 Speaker 3: Easy money, every money. Who's next, Steve. 00:40:35 Speaker 1: Steve, go ahead, Steve A minute left? 00:40:39 Speaker 10: Hey, guys, seems like the theme today is fundamentals. This is the worst fundamentally unsound team I've seen in forever. They can't dribble, they can't pass, they can't rebound. I'd love to see what they do in practice to correct all that. 00:40:58 Speaker 2: And I said, when I thought to myself, this is going to be a team of fundamentals, and it's been the exact opposite. 00:41:04 Speaker 10: But go ahead, yeah, Michael that we need a guy like Michael Kidd Gilchris plays with heart, rebounds, not a great offensive player. Yeah, I don't know. I think the season is pretty much over. I just don't see them recovering. I got one more thing with regards to Billy. Y'all have an over under on how many flowers Billy's fiance will be getting. 00:41:28 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, did Billy say that he was okay? 00:41:31 Speaker 3: He said he would be perfectly fine with another man sending flowers to his fiance. As a matter of fact, he said he would think thelm if they did. That's an interesting take. 00:41:40 Speaker 1: That that is not behavior. 00:41:43 Speaker 3: Beta Billy, Beta Billy. 00:41:45 Speaker 1: We'll take a break very back, can't hunk
