00:00:05 Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we love a deadline. I'm Greg Rosenthal here in the Chris Westling podcast studio. Trade Deadline is over. I'm with Jordan Rodrieg and I'm with Colleen Wolf. Heyo, we got to see you next Tuesday. Crew back for the first time in a minute on one of the biggest Tuesdays on the NFL Challenge Tuesday. 00:00:27 Speaker 2: It is and on you know America's calendar, because it is election day as well. 00:00:32 Speaker 3: Get out to the Tuesday all around at Steve. 00:00:36 Speaker 2: Mariucci's birthday, Happy Birthday, the mooch. 00:00:39 Speaker 1: Look, I already voted. I pre voted, and I put it in the envelope and then I went for a short run and put it into the closest voter box because I love a functional run. Let's talk trades. This is right after the you know how, like very often on these types of shows, do you need that my note card? 00:00:58 Speaker 3: One? 00:00:58 Speaker 4: Flying Jordan does a like it. They're in the middle of the table. 00:01:01 Speaker 1: It's like, oh, you know, we really build kind of bothering me. We really build up the trade deadline to be such a big deal and then it doesn't end up being that big of a deal false, And you know what happened to be this year a big deal. 00:01:17 Speaker 3: This is the opposite of how I treat my writing deadlines like they don't really exist. This was actually exists. 00:01:23 Speaker 1: It was a huge deal. I do love deadlines. 00:01:28 Speaker 2: I only work with a deadline. There's I can't work unless I have a deadline. 00:01:33 Speaker 1: Apparently the New York Jets, who I do feel like, has been have been a subject on a lot of Tuesdays. We were here for the Robert Sala firing, we were here for some other assorted last year events, and now we're talking about a complete restructuring of who we thought the Jets were, but more important, who we thought the Indianapolis Colts were. Let's start with the sauce Gardner trade, because that was the most rising, that was the biggest. We'll get to Quinn Williams and everything else that happened today, but Sauce Gardner is an Indianapolis Colt. Love it. The Jets receive twenty twenty six and twenty twenty seven first round picks from the Colts and ad Mitchell, which feels just like a little throwing But I actually think that's a nice little part of the deal. For the Jets. We'll get to the Jets side of things, but I do think it's for the twenty twenty five season more interesting that your Colts are going all in in a way that probably surprises the outside universe, but I think actually makes a lot of sense when you think about how their team is structured. As a not so secret Colts believer, Colleen, how did this trade make you feel? 00:02:47 Speaker 2: I've well, first of all, I love that you're calling them my Colts, because this was the one year that I was like, all right, I'm not going to do it, not to do this, but I do you know think Mae. 00:02:58 Speaker 1: Connie Bowl is on the table here? Eagles? 00:03:00 Speaker 4: Oh my god, can you imagine? Okay, First of all, this is such. 00:03:04 Speaker 2: A departure from how Chris Ballard the Colts GM usually operates. He's pretty conservative, he loves the draft and develops strategy. So the fact that he traded like this for such a splashy player, and there was so much given away as well in it was just sort of a little bit of a surprise, a lot a bit of a surprise. But it also just goes to show how confident this regime is in the current roster that it's not a blip for them that they are all in, and I love the move for them. 00:03:37 Speaker 3: It's the epitome of aggression right down to the player himself, and certainly with how Sauce Gardner has been playing and just some of the vibes in New York just continued losing, getting sort of that stink out and really going to a place that is on a roll really other than a little blip last week. And he's an aggressive player. He allows them to mix their coverages. He wants to play man coverage, he wants to make plays on the ball on a rumo in his renaissance. Yeah, Big Glue is having Uh. He's a perfect player for him because he can do a lot of different things and he can be as aggressive as as he wants, especially with a front that's playing well and a pass rush that's playing well. You can really compliment that with a player like sas Gardner. And I want to say too, the aggression that you noted, Colleen, I think is so important because there were some real, I guess like come to Jesus conversations that have happened within that building. It's real understanding where their roster was at and where they had sort of carried themselves down the decision making process knowing they had a good roster and this a really continuous group between Ed Dodds, Kevin Rogers and John Shaw, all those guys in scouting and pro personnel and player personnel they have. They had to really say, really, where is our roster at and plug in the right quarterback and make an egoist decision to move on from a perceived mistake at that time and then really understand where they're at as a team in of making a real, real contention push. Making a move like this is a real contention push. 00:05:04 Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. It didn't make sense because Daniel Jones their quarterback. But they were among the biggest win now teams in the league. And that's when I was making the mia culpa about being so wrong about this Colts team. That is one thing that you could have seen that they have incredible continuity. They have a lot of guys in their primes when you think about Michael Pittman and Pierce and their offensive line for the most part and downs and everything, and then they also have like some players that aren't going to be around that much longer, like Grover Stewart and DeForest Buckner have been around forever, Sire Franklin and Kenny Moore, like they're at the point of their careers where it's like, okay, it's year to year, and most of these guys have been in this system on both sides of the ball in terms of the offensive system has been there, and then the players have been there on the defensive side. And you get lou An Arumo and he was such an important part of it, and you think, okay, cornerback is very unpredictable, and the Colts and the Jets would probably say sas Gardner over the last year and a half has not been as good as he was the previous two years. But you do get a coordinator in lou Anarumo that you feel like can maximize everything that sas Gardner does. So I think that's a big part of that is like faith in lou in addition to faith in sas Gardner, whose contract extension that he just signed in July literally hasn't even started. 00:06:23 Speaker 2: Part ye part you'd like the Jets obviously were not planning on trade at him if they gave him this contract in the offseason, and it's just such a huge fire sale for them, like they are now just in full rebuild. To trade him and Quinnin Williams, like these two players together just shows you that they're ready to implode the whole operation at this point. 00:06:46 Speaker 1: I can't remember Race Hall. I was gonna say, I can't remember a team like doing this quite as aggressively in recent memory. Because to go over the picks they have now, they have three firsts in twenty twenty seven, and they're not like you know, the NBA, sometimes you get it first and it's like it's like the Thunders first. It's like that's the twenty ninth pick in the draft. They have their own first, the Cowboys first, and the Colts first, like that could be pretty good in twenty twenty seven. You don't know what the Colts are going to be, like you we don't know what the Cowboys are going to be like. They also have two first this year, you know, in twenty six in the next draft, and two seconds, so they only had two top one hundred picks actually before this trade happened, so that was weird. They are a team though, that has done this before. They actually had three first round picks in twenty twenty two. That's how they got some of these players. And it doesn't didn't necessarily go well, but they are loaded up in terms of picks. So I even though I was smarmy kind of thinking like, wow, they could even get good players like Quentinn Williams and Sauce Gardner maybe if they're lucky with these picks, I actually don't hate it for the Jets. I think it makes sense for both sides, especially in this sauce Gardner deal. 00:07:53 Speaker 3: I think this is totally allowed to be a win win trade. Yeah, honestly because for all parties involved, because it's great for the Cowboys to get a player of Quinn Williams caliber. And I know we're going to get to that particular move in a minute, but in speaking of the Jets specifically, I think it is so refreshing when a team actually admits that they have to commit to a rebuild before the trade deadline of that same season happens, because the draft. You need to recoup some of that AMMO ahead of that Springs draft. If you're really going to be aggressive about where you're at and be very honest about where you're at as a roster and the way that it's constructed. And I think that that you have a new set of talent evaluators in under Darren Muji and a new regime and a new head coach, and so you're going to start installing your players with those picks and we'll see if it works out for him obviously short term and long term. But in terms of understanding what you are first of all, which I think the Colts are doing really really well. On the other side, understanding which you are not, which I don't really think the Jets moved this preseason and start of the regular season like they were really realistic about who they actually were. They they are trying to push it. Well, I think all of us were kind of, like I said it myself, I was like, I kind of am in on the Jets with what they're doing. Well, they just weren't that team. They didn't really have that. They didn't ultimately have the answer at quarterback. They certainly did not have the answer on the on defense. They certainly need to make some moves additionally to what they already have on offense, all on every phase. And so I think admitting that before the trade deadline, the Bengals, for example, are not admitting this before trade deadlines. Other teams that are not contenders and need to rebuild in a big way or at least fully rebuild one side of the ball, Like I find it refreshing that they've done this. 00:09:38 Speaker 1: I was talking about this with Daniel Jeremiah. We have a move the sticks. We not move the sticks? 00:09:43 Speaker 2: Wow, it are you James Irwin and Pat Miller? 00:09:49 Speaker 1: Pat Miller and Crime. 00:09:51 Speaker 4: I'm not trying their social. 00:09:53 Speaker 1: I'm not trying to get on that podcast. We have a Forties and Free Agents coming out later this week. We were talking about this off air and it's just like building around defense. It is tough. It's very much the Bill Polian method from twenty years ago. But I totally agree with that. Offense is more consistent, and I think if you're going to invest like most of your resources on defense, the path is way thinner. And that's where the Jets were at. They were with this Robert solid defense. The defense was great under Robert Salad. These were two of the best players, and I think it had really soured. You heard from Connor Hughes, A s and Y. I've heard this separately that like Quinn Williams seem like the happiest guy ever, and at one point and he was kind of done, can. 00:10:33 Speaker 2: You be I'm so so excited that we get to see Quinn and Williams smile again. 00:10:38 Speaker 1: Okay, this is so great. All right, let's let's go over that. I still think we should have a few things on the sauce. But let's talk about exactly what they got for Quinn Williams. So the Cowboys get Quinn Williams the Cowboys. It's just outrageous. And they get a twenty twenty evan first round pick from the Cowboys, and it'll either be the Cowboys first round pick or the Packers first round pick, whichever is higher, which to me is a great little wrinkle. It's a great little NBA wrinkle and a nice piece of business by the Jets to cover themselves there. They also get a twenty twenty six second round pick, and they also get Mozzy Smith thrown in the deal. So, if you really want to have your brain broken, here's the Michael Parsons trade. Like that's it, big picture here, it is. They essentially traded away Micah Parsons and Mazzy Smith for Quinn Williams and Kenny Clark and a move up like twenty spots to the back end of the first round of the draft, which is not that much in my opinion. I know it's a lot to consider, but we'll consider this one like on its own. What do you think about the Cowboys getting Quinn Williams. 00:12:00 Speaker 2: I think that it immediately addresses their run defense, which is helpful for them. Obviously he's really good in the middle of the field there. 00:12:11 Speaker 4: But I just feel like this trade kind. 00:12:14 Speaker 2: Of shows that obviously Jerry Jones is maybe regretful of moving Michael Parsons, Michael Parsons who potentially wins Defensive Player of the Year, and all of their defensive struggles stem from that move specifically, So now he's trying to go back all in since I mean, even before last night, before last night, the narrative of the Cowboys was their offense is so good, their defense is not holding up this end of the bargain. And then last night, I mean, you saw what the Cardinals were able to do. Their defense was a disaster the Dallas Cowboys. So I like the move, and I'm happy for Quinn Williams, but I just feel like Ultimately, the Cowboys should have never traded away Michael Parsons in the first place. 00:13:01 Speaker 3: I think it's it's coming to terms with the fact that you can't put the lid back on the pot, right right, And maybe I said that in a little Jerry jonesy way. I can't put the lid back on the pot. 00:13:10 Speaker 4: I don't know toothpaste back. 00:13:12 Speaker 2: No, no, no. 00:13:12 Speaker 1: If he's more about like glory hole, I was going to say, wow and trying to do something with mosquitos. He's always talking about. 00:13:20 Speaker 4: Right, glory hole. 00:13:21 Speaker 3: Okay, So I feel like this is actually him and the team itself understanding like what's done is done. 00:13:27 Speaker 4: You have to plan. 00:13:29 Speaker 3: For the future here. I do like that the Cowboys still have their twenty twenty six first round picks. 00:13:33 Speaker 4: I like that. 00:13:34 Speaker 3: I also like that this offense is clearly an elite group, to the point where if we are even at a looking at a medium level defense, you're talking about a for sure playoff contender, maybe even a team that can make a run. Now we're not talking about that, We're talking about an offense that they are clearly hoping is going to continue to be play at this caliber. Maybe regress a little bit, but probably not a ton because of all of the guys that they have in some of the young guys especially have upfront, can still play at this caliber. Quinn Williams is only twenty seven years old, he'll be twenty eight next year. When I do think that they're going that they think their defense will be ready to match the level of the offense. So I just think this is obviously a little late of a move for this season, but it's also sort of a coming to terms with what you did first of all, and what now you have to do next in order to get this group as competitive as it needs to be, seeing how far beyond and above schedule your offense is and where your defense at least needs to hit the floor of in order to have a more compliment menory group. That's twenty twenty six to me, and it's good that they have those picks because if you draft well in a couple key spots on defense, you can play those guys right away. You're not inserting them into a complicated series of passing layers. You're not asking you a rookie running back run to pass block for you. You're not asking an offensive lineman to be really good right away. No, you're plugging in defensive players who grow as the season continues, with some weight bearing walls, and quinnin Williams is certainly one of them. 00:14:58 Speaker 2: But that's also to your point about looking ahead to the draft, seeing how Quinn Williams affects the defense, and then being able to plan ahead. 00:15:06 Speaker 4: Okay, now what do we need to do point our draft strategy? 00:15:09 Speaker 1: And I love Quinn Williams. But they didn't get any extra picks in the end. I mean, that's crazy. They traded away Michael Parsons and they don't have any extra picks. They just like moved up twenty Essentially, they moved up from the Jets you know, second round or their second round pick to the Packers' first round pick whatever ends up that being. Let's right now, it would be about twenty picks. 00:15:29 Speaker 3: And I'm not saying the logistics or their return on the trade is necessarily great. I'm just saying I can see what their process was after they realized that there's no turning back or getting there. 00:15:38 Speaker 1: The process is like is make it up as you go along, and a lot of it I think is emotional. I mean, Jerry Jones even talked about on Monday how annoyed he was about Michael Parsons lying down on that trainer's table, which is, by the way, good move by Michael Parsons. It really sounded like that was kind of the last thing he was just like, would Michael Irvin have ever done that? Would Deon Sanders have ever done that? And it's like they're having to answer for a boss that's like, go go get me someone. 00:16:02 Speaker 3: Now. 00:16:02 Speaker 1: I think Quinn Williams is great. He is three years older if we're kind of comparing him and Sauce, but I think he's probably a safer overall long term. Bet. I just think when you look at these three trades in general, when you're talking about the Michael Parsons, it's kind of crazy to me that Sauce Gardner went for the same price as Michael Parsons. Essentially, I would argue because I like it. I'd rather have Adi Mitchell maybe on his money than Kenny Clark. Like Sauce Gardner costs more, but essentially Sas Gardner and Michael Parsons cost about the same, Michael Parsons and Quinn Williams were pretty close to the same, and that a miss evaluation of Michael Parsons and Cowboys fans would be like, well that's in the past. Now we're just talking about the president. Well it's all it's all together, you know, you have to evaluate it all together. 00:16:53 Speaker 3: And I do want to say a couple of these teams of Packers specifically and the Colts, they are they do share a very similar quality, which is that they believe they're going to make a Super Bowl run. So you stop, I mean, we saw it right next door a couple of years ago. You really stop thinking about what things cost when you need to add players to get you through those little glass layers of contention as November ends, December begins in January as well. That's the point, like get as high of a return on those guys as you can, and certainly that I see why the Colts gave that much for Sauce Gardner really because of this, because they believe that he is a right put. 00:17:31 Speaker 1: The Cowboys, on the other hand, are three five. 00:17:33 Speaker 4: And one with a struggling secondary and. 00:17:36 Speaker 1: Ensure they'll hope that they can get into Super Bowl contention next year. But that's just it's just a hope and there's not much reason to think about. I did want to kind of point out though the sauce trade is risky. Like two first, for a cornerback who is coming off a year that was pretty poor I would say a year ago, and this year he has some good numbers like next in stats, notice his his tight window forced rate is really high, like the highest in the league in terms of like when you know passes are coming into coverage. Now a lot of those have been completed, but he's been in tight coverage. He does travel with like the opposing one. The talent is obviously there, but it I do often think about, like, cornerbacks are impossible to like evaluate, there's so much variance. They're they're like the Colleen Wolf of of of you know position, Now, what do you mean not? 00:18:25 Speaker 2: No? 00:18:25 Speaker 1: Please go all no Colleen Wolf shows up here and she's, you know, hitting a home run every time. Cornerbacks, you don't know what they're gonna do. I don't know. I just when I'm searching for words, I like to just I just. 00:18:36 Speaker 4: Think I'll help you out here, Greg. 00:18:39 Speaker 2: I just think that if they don't, if the Cowboys don't make the playoffs, which it's dicey right now, they're three, five and one. If they don't make the playoffs, then they're sacrificing these long term assets without even making the postseason. 00:18:54 Speaker 4: So it's kind of like a huge gamble. 00:18:56 Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't even care about this season if I'm the Cowboys. I mean I care obviously, like everyone cares about things, but like I don't if I'm them, I don't. I'm not even looking at this move in the vacuum of this year. I've already seen enough. This defense is gonna let you down, Like there's no there. They are in such a hole in the NFC at this point that yes, they could still get into a couple of shootouts, and certainly it's not all is not lost. And you know three win teams have made the postseason before, but it's November, like it's getting too late, and so this move, like I said, I just think this is totally made to regather yourself, admit where you're at, and then really look ahead at twenty twenty six is the year you may make try to make a run. 00:19:39 Speaker 2: If it's for twenty twenty six, Like, why wouldn't they have gotten more in the trade in terms of resources. 00:19:44 Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, because this to Jordan's point early, and it's a great one. It's like this is when I think you get the most for Quinn william I mean if you're the Jets, but I mean. 00:19:55 Speaker 3: They won't pay their players or one of that they'll trade for them a right. 00:19:58 Speaker 1: One of the things that the things that I thought about here too is like when you're when I'm adding up all these you know what the Cowboys got with the Jets on your got what the Packers got, Like, here's what the Cowboys didn't get Quinn and Williams for the last nine weeks, you know. And I think that's part of it too, And that gets to my point about they're just making up as they go along, like Quinn and Williams. They lost that half season of Quinn Williams. But I do think the ages are important because the Colts are looking at this at like, yeah, we're sacrificing these draft picks. That is gonna hurt our team building process overall. But Sas Gardner is a young player that is not going anywhere anytime soon. 00:20:35 Speaker 3: I just think it literally is as simple as this. You're almost saying the same thing as me, But I think it's literally just as simple as this. The Coults are in truly win now mode, like not just they think they are. They are in win now mode, So they're going to pay a higher price for a player they think can help them win a Super Bowl. Sat Packers did the same thing, but they didn't pay as high a price. This is not creeping up to the trade deadline. Nobody really knew what they were going to look like, even though they're a very good team. Clearly we're seeing the fallout of that now. The Cowboys on the other side, understand they are not a win now team right now, but they have a win now offense that probably will not regress much in twenty twenty six. So they're paying for twenty twenty six, and they're paying twenty twenty six money to twenty twenty six, if that makes sense. 00:21:18 Speaker 1: Sure, I think ultimately it's also just I just don't think. 00:21:23 Speaker 3: They're like floating at the breeze, like plant not plan. I think they're legitimately planning for twenty twenty six. 00:21:29 Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe I have. 00:21:30 Speaker 3: Maybe I'm giving them too much credit. 00:21:32 Speaker 1: I mean I believe they're they're GM like or who sort of acts as a GM. Will Will McClay right, like he's he's doing the best that he can with the orders that that he's got. But I think I think it's chaotic, and I do think it's a show of faith in Daniel Jones and Aaron Glenn. I ultimately think that the Jets are saying, like we're gonna we're gonna understand that you're gonna keep losing Aaron Glenn and Darren Mugy their GM and like we're gonna stay with you because it would be insane to be like firing your head coach after doing something like this. And I do think it's the cult saying, yeah, we got a bargain with Daniel Jones right now, we are gonna pay him so much money because none of this makes any sense unless Daniel Jones is making all that money next year as a member of the Colts. Pretty crazy and a badass. Secondary. By the way, when Charvarius Ward gets back, it'll be Charvarius Ward, Kenny Moore and Sas Gardner. Let's take a quick break and then we'll come back and we'll finish up the other trades from a big trade deadline. Back on NFL Daily, and you mentioned Michael Parson's going as a potential award winner. You know what you're gonna have to do. If you're an NFL Day or list. Just check out our big time award show. Hey, we've got Colleen Wolf and Jordan working double here. We're taking a couple shows, so everyone check out our mids and awards which are coming. 00:23:02 Speaker 4: But we have some fun ones. 00:23:03 Speaker 1: You can't only talk about the Jets and and all their draft picks. I was thinking, like, okay, they had a bunch of draft picks, like a few years ago. They once had four first round draft picks. That was in two thousand. That was the famous that the infamous Kyle Brady draft. John Gruden and Mike Mayock once had three first round picks. 00:23:22 Speaker 3: That it did not work out. 00:23:23 Speaker 4: That was the offensive lineman, right, but they took. 00:23:26 Speaker 1: That was that was one of them. Yes, yeah, there were there were still playing Cleveland. Ferrell didn't work out. So sometimes you know, what's in the mystery box is not as good. But I'm hoping that they can turn it around. Let's talk about some other moves that happened on Tuesday. Was excited for this one. Rashid Shahed to the Seahawks for a fourth and fifth round pick. The Saints made a couple moves. They also traded Trevor Penning to the Chargers, but this Shahed move seems like I could really have an impact impact in the NFC. 00:24:03 Speaker 3: I mean, I love that they did this, and it sounded like based on some reporting that they were scouring the receiver market just to try to see I just think this is probably was probably their A plus plan because of his connections with Clint Kubiak from back with Kubiak was the Saints offensive coordinator. I love this not just for the passing game because like, good luck to you picking which player you would like to tilt your coverage toward and godspeed, but also they can truly stay in a lot of their twelve personnel like they want to because you've got two true burner receivers who can exploit so many different intermediate and long layers of the passing game and they can stay just as explosive. But I think this helps open up their run game, which I love because if more defenders are accounting for multiple receivers who can hurt you deep on the field, that means they're going to have less of those defenders in the box. Stopping the run, and they have struggled with running against medium or even heavier boxes. They're not seeing it's on a lot boxes so far this year, so I think it helps them become a much more complete team and they can stay in their preferred heavy personnels but still have that lightning speed threat on the perimeter and all across the middle of the field because these guys can run a lot of different types of combinations. 00:25:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, and now it'll be a much quicker integration I think into the offense yea because of Quint Kobiac being there. It gives Sam Darnold another deep threat in this offense, and it comes at a perfect time while some of these Seattle Seahawks receivers are dealing with injuries, like Cooper Cup. He's also an All Pro returner, so this could help out their special teams as well. 00:25:37 Speaker 4: Seattle. I love it for this offense and. 00:25:40 Speaker 2: For Greg your team, who you said weeks and weeks ago was the best in the NFC potentially, and now I feel like after a primetime game, people are on board with this more and more. 00:25:53 Speaker 1: It is such a strange place to be because the NFC is so loaded, so it's like you would still take the field certainly over the Seahawks. Heck, like the NFC West is so loaded that we don't know by any means that they're gonna win their division. It's awesome that the Seahawks and Rams still have two games left against each other, and just it just feels like six of the best eight or nine teams in the NFL are in the NFC. So nothing's guaranteed. But I don't think the price was too big a fourth and a fifth. I think it was fair for both sides. Actually give the Saints some credit for getting a pretty fair value. I think for a guy that they probably weren't going to resign, I just don't know why you weren't resigning him, because up until this year he was like a guy averaging sixteen seventeen yards per catch and just has incredible speed that you can't really find anywhere else. 00:26:41 Speaker 3: Yeah, by the way, yet another reason you're talking about the depth and the how loaded the NFC has yet another reason why the Cowboys decided to look honestly at themselves and work toward twenty twenty six and actually admit the truth. Yeah, this is my favorite trade of the entire day. 00:26:57 Speaker 1: I love this. 00:26:59 Speaker 3: I love the fact that we are going to see a couple of these teams, the Rams included and the Seahawks reach their fullest form, like exactly the right time, barring any sort of crazy circumstantial changes with injuries. And I like that. It's it's like like explaining your faith in Sam Darnold because you're giving him more weapons. It is helping out JSN because you know that once you get to the playoffs, it's going to be total matchup football and defenses are going to try to figure out how to game plan your best player out of that game, so then hit him with another guy. Like I just I loved this, and I like it for the Saints because again, like you said, they got decent value out of it. 00:27:38 Speaker 1: We still don't know what they're getting for Trevor Penning, who was famously a h surprise first round pick that they traded extra picks up for and did not work out, very similar to how Mickey Loomis traded up to first for Marcus. 00:27:54 Speaker 3: That probably want to get released like overnight, just like slipped into the mix. You know, it came in right under the wire. It was the last trade of the day. It's probably trying to hide it. 00:28:03 Speaker 1: It's probably not a ton and uh we talked about it me and shook On on Monday night too, Like, will the Chargers try to do something to help that offensive line after losing Joe Alt so that that makes sense on that perspective, I do wonder, you know, Cooper Cup is not a long term answer for the Seahawks. I'd be surprised if he was on the roster next season. They do have an out in that contract. I don't think it's been like a great fit, and I think he'll just play less now because if they're in that twelve personnel, you know, he's not going to be on the field all the time. And that's that's not the worst thing he could give you more maybe playing twenty thirty snaps. Tory Horton looked pretty good for the other day. Like Seahawks, they're rolling seas. Jacoby Myers went to the Jaguars for two mid round picks, a fourth and a six, And I just want to congratulate Jacoby Myers because I feel like no one else wanted to get traded more than Jacoby Myers, kind of like Devanta Adams last year. Hopefully this works out better for Jacoby Myers than DeVante Adams and his time with the Jets a year ago. But even then I think he was just still happy to get out of there. 00:29:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, and it fills an immediate need for the Jags with Why am I blanking Ravis Hunter? I wanted to call him Trevor Lawrence. 00:29:22 Speaker 1: Obviously that's the quarterback, but it's the commercials, which right now, they took a big gamble in the first place doing all the Trevor Lawrence Travis Hunter. 00:29:30 Speaker 4: Yes, that's what it is exactly. 00:29:33 Speaker 1: It's a great commercial, but it was a risk and yeah. 00:29:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, so obviously this will help out. And it's not like Travis Hunter was giving them a whole lot at the wide receiver position because they kept switching him back and forth between a couple snaps here on defense, a couple snaps here on offense. I just don't know if that is going to work for him going forward. Maybe next year everything will slow down a little bit more. He can he can contribute a little bit more. But when I was doing the international game that they were on, Gerald McCoy was just talking about Travis Hunter and how he really believed that he should only be playing defense on the defensive side of the ball, and then here and there having like a couple fun little packages for him on offense. 00:30:19 Speaker 4: But I like that Jacoby Myers now will be there. 00:30:22 Speaker 2: He's a wide receiver that will be able to help Trevor Lawrence now that Travis Hunter is not out there. 00:30:29 Speaker 1: And Deanmi Brown also got hurt in that game last week, like that could have been part of it. Parker Washington was their clear number one. Brian Thomas Junior got a little banged up in that game. Don't know if it was serious. Ian Rappaport does say though Travis Hunter will be back this season, probably pretty soon after he's eligible to get off IR which is three more weeks, and that it'll still be playing wide receiver. 00:30:49 Speaker 3: Can I put my Galaxy brain head on for one? 00:30:53 Speaker 1: Please? 00:30:53 Speaker 2: Do you need help with its heavy it's so heavy. 00:30:58 Speaker 3: Rain. 00:30:58 Speaker 4: I don't know how your next supports the. 00:31:02 Speaker 3: So I think that this is a move not just to give them a little help production help in the short term. I also think this is a move that sets in motion a more cohesive plan for Travis Hunter and this passing game in the long term after he is back from this injury, because if you bring in Jacoby Myers, one of the things that that tells me is you would like to have a Chris Godwin like player in the slot, which Travis Hunter can be, which Liam Cohen is trying to turn a passing volume and dictating his passing game through that player. And I do believe they think that player can be Travis Hunter, and so then you can have your perimeter threat still in Jacoby Myers. And it has been really weird with Brian Thomas Junior, whether it's they're running him in concepts he's clearly not comfortable with or he's taking a step back, and then there's like weird trade rumors circulating about him that the team is like super quick to shut down, but like still reports surfacing about well we'll take a call. 00:32:03 Speaker 1: You know, didn't happen in the end, but yeah, it sounds like they were listening if someone wanted to give them a so Sauce Gardner type offer. 00:32:10 Speaker 3: I'm just saying I think that not only is this like a Okay, we need to keep producing as an offense in the short term, but we also need to have a much better plan overall and reset what we want to do in the passing game, and whether it is the reverse of what I said, where you're seeing Jacoby a little bit more inside and Trevor Travis Hunter. I just did it, Travis Hunter on the perimeter. Just one of these players has to be the volume inside guy. That's what Liam Collin wants to do. We've seen it work and so that's where I think this actually resets their passing layers in a big way. And I just don't think we're talking about it yet, and maybe we will be after Travis Hunter gets back. 00:32:48 Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know, though. 00:32:50 Speaker 3: Take this off. 00:32:50 Speaker 4: It does you're here here, It does like a little all right, got it? 00:32:54 Speaker 1: Got it all Like there's a lot of repeating, maybe duplicative skill sets. I mean, Hunter and Jacoby Myers are different, but Jacoby Myers is a predominantly slot player throughout his career, and he plays plenty on the outside too, but most of his snaps are in the slot. And Parker Washington was outstanding in the preseason and last week. It's kind of a predominant slot type of player. Deanmy Brown is hurt. I think that maybe we'll find out as a bigger part of it, But Jacoby Myers just a good player. The interesting thing to me and keep an eye out. Yeah, well we'll wrap here is like Shaheed and Myers are both on the last year of their contracts, so it's kind of tryout period for both of them. Because if you're going to give up two mid round picks, sure it would help if they help you in a playoff run now, but you would love that to be like a long, long term thing, and I think Shaheed would have a better chance for it to be a long term thing. But who knows, Maybe maybe Jacoby Myers ends up like re signing with the Jaguars or something long term they want. 00:33:55 Speaker 3: They want to Chris Godwin, one of Mike Evans. However, it shakes out one or two. I believe one of those players is Travis Hunter and the other one is going to be Jacobe Myers after Travis Hunter gets back. However, whichever position it shakes out being slot for what's. 00:34:10 Speaker 1: Brian Thomas Junior, Then he's Jalen McMillan. 00:34:13 Speaker 3: I figured out man Emica Buca. He's Emicaua had a step back though he took from last season. It's hard when a new coaching staff comes in and it just doesn't seem quite congruous to me yet. And it's I don't know that it's anyone's fault, particularly I certainly don't want to bury the player. He's so talented, he really is so talented. But it's like Patrick clayboun noticed it early in the season. They're sending him on all these inbreakers that he doesn't feel comfortable with. Then he's running some inbreakers, some outbreakers. Trevor Lawrence, I almost did it again. Trevor Lawrence is only targeting him on outbreaking routes like his His heat chart for passing is crazy in terms of where Brian Thomas Junior is running and the only times he will throw him the ball. So I'm just saying there's there's something going on that just is not quite matching. Yet it gets resolved, But you don't make a move like this just because people are in your crabit. 00:35:04 Speaker 4: Hunter is to. 00:35:07 Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence as Sam Darnold is to Sam. 00:35:11 Speaker 4: Bradfirst, right, all right, right, I've got there. 00:35:15 Speaker 1: Gets the Jacoby Myers just like a just a comfortable pair of shoes, you know what I mean, Like you know what you're gonna get, And I have this feeling that he's some aged receiver because it was crazy that the Patriots let him walk that contract age so well, he only got thirty three million dollars over three years, and they wouldn't even pay him that much or thirty nine million dollars over three years. He's only twenty eight years old, so Jacoby Myers still I think has two or three more good years. But like Shaheed in Seattle, they'll have decisions to make pretty soon. They'll get a little time to test drive it another couple minor deals before we say goodbye. I should have mentioned with the Cowboys they also picked up Logan Wilson for a seventh which is funny that they just gave up a pick for Logan Wilson, a guy who you know couldn't get on the field for the Bengals, but he probably will help that Cowboys linebacker group, which is not great. And then a l golden Yes and their their defense for what it's worth. You know, they benched them and started playing two rookies. They've somehow gotten even worse since they benched them. And I always feel bad for Logan Wilson because I'll always just remember that holding Callie had that kind of swung the Super Bowl that was maybe not a holding calls they called it totally forgot about pretty tight. I mean the Rams would have had a couple more plays at the goal line, but you know, if they didn't call it, who knows, Joe tryan shank also to the Bears for a late round pick swap. So that's it for our trade deadline the Cold are going for. I feel satisfied, so alive. How do you feel, by the way, as an Eagles. 00:36:45 Speaker 3: Call it a live line? 00:36:46 Speaker 1: Am I right? Hey? 00:36:48 Speaker 3: Yes? 00:36:49 Speaker 1: How do you feel as an Eagles fan? To me that Jalen Phillips trade was not as big as these Jets trade, but just as big or bigger than the Rashid Jaheed and Jacobe Myers moves. You get a real deal young. 00:36:59 Speaker 2: Prush, best pass rusher at the deadline. And so of course Howie Roseman was like, Ring Ring, let me grab him, and I'm gonna also help out my secondary as well. I love the move. It's aggressive and that's what Howie style. 00:37:15 Speaker 1: I'm wondering who's gonna get cut there that someone can't make that team because they're adding Brandon Graham too to the mix, they're adding Jalen Phillips. 00:37:23 Speaker 3: So the next they only had fifty one roster spots. 00:37:25 Speaker 1: Though, right they did clear some room in terms of space. Jalx Hunt is like is there? I mean an Olan Smith is there, but he's not on the active roster right now. It's just they got They got a lot of players. They got a lot of cornerbacks. 00:37:37 Speaker 2: Michael Carter, they brought in, Jaya Alexander they brought in Also, they earlier in the year, Tank Bigsby they brought in Uh Like this is you. 00:37:46 Speaker 1: Don't have to wait to the deadline to make the moves. But I'm glad that some teams did, so good luck to the Jets. We'll be talking about you a lot in the upcoming march in April twenty. What else is six and seven Cowboys will be talking about you a little less than we expected. 00:38:05 Speaker 3: I will fight the good fight. 00:38:06 Speaker 4: That's right. You were so high on the Cowboys in the off season. 00:38:11 Speaker 1: I thought, well, that was before Michael Parsons got traded. But yes, I did take them over eight wins this year, and I guess Quinn Williams gives it, gives us a chance. I'll tell you who's not given up on Greg. Yeah, Jerry Jones is not giving up on twenty twenty five. It's my point, the eternal off to this. All right, we will come back for the awards on Wednesday morning. Yeah, so tomorrow. 00:38:36 Speaker 4: We'll be back tomorrow. 00:38:37 Speaker 1: We'll also do our t NF preview. Yes, you'll you'll see that show in the feed. Pre season, MVP all the rest will be wearing the same stuff. We will see that
