When a young engineer named Victor Hatherly stumbles into Dr. Watson’s surgery with a severed thumb, what appears to be a brutal work injury soon reveals itself as something far more sinister. As Hatherly tells his bizarre story, Holmes and Watson soon find themselves drawn into a conspiracy featuring an enigmatic German industrialist, a lonely house in the countryside filled with secrets, and a machine with nefarious purpose.
