<v Speaker 1>van Aiken, and today I'm joined by Kyle Hilliard. How
<v Speaker 1>you doing, Kyle, Hey?
<v Speaker 2>Fixing my hair? It's like, really, it's really big in
<v Speaker 2>the back today.
<v Speaker 1>Oh it is. It's volumptuous.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not going to complain.
<v Speaker 1>I like it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Yeah, there's a lot there too much.
<v Speaker 1>There's a lot there, just like this episode, there's a
<v Speaker 1>lot there to talk about. But before we get into
<v Speaker 1>it all, Charles Hart, how you doing?
<v Speaker 2>Hello?
<v Speaker 3>My hair is also it's not as big in the
<v Speaker 3>back as Kyle's. But I also need I just need
<v Speaker 3>a haircut, I think in general. So it's just kind
<v Speaker 3>of a kind of a big hair day for me
<v Speaker 3>and Kyle.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I feel a little out.
<v Speaker 2>I'm sorry.
<v Speaker 3>So the last time I let someone from Mimex cut
<v Speaker 3>my hair, I did end up looking like Alex. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I'm going to get a professional for context.
<v Speaker 1>I am now bald listeners, it's been I've been bald
<v Speaker 1>for a few months now, but no hat today. I
<v Speaker 1>actually freshly freshly shaved. The smell good and did not
<v Speaker 1>did not cut my head for once for one.
<v Speaker 2>So you're getting better, Okay.
<v Speaker 1>I'm getting better. Yeah. Well, this episode is brought to
<v Speaker 1>you by Game Informer.

<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Yeah, we're in the airport in Amsterdam apparently. But
<v Speaker 1>there's a bunch of countries.
<v Speaker 2>We're in.
<v Speaker 1>For the full list, you can go and find it
<v Speaker 1>on our website. But that's let's get into the podcast, guys.
<v Speaker 1>I think the big talker for us this week is Pragmata,
<v Speaker 1>which will get into in just the second. We're also
<v Speaker 1>going to talk about wind Rows, the new Bloodborn animated
<v Speaker 1>movie or film that was announced and you know, as
<v Speaker 1>a follow up to last week's conversation with Marcus's PS
<v Speaker 1>five pro Kyle also got one and regrets it. So
<v Speaker 1>we'll get we'll get into talk we'll talk about it.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, let's get into Pragmata. This is the new
<v Speaker 1>third person shooter from Capcom featuring protagonists Diane and Hugh. Diana,
<v Speaker 1>I'm sorry, and Diana is a Pragmata, which is a
<v Speaker 1>robot that has very human like features and a personality.
<v Speaker 1>And the game starts as you know, Hugh kind of
<v Speaker 1>finds himself stranded on this moon base where this you know,
<v Speaker 1>big Corporation is using the moon to three D print
<v Speaker 1>all sorts of objects, and you know, things go awry
<v Speaker 1>and he finds himself alone and Diana is there to
<v Speaker 1>save him, and they start a budding father daughter esque
<v Speaker 1>relationship as.
<v Speaker 2>They really see each other.
<v Speaker 1>They save each.
<v Speaker 2>Other there you go, who saves you know?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and they kind of go on a quest. Well
<v Speaker 1>I haven't beaten the game, so I don't know, but
<v Speaker 1>they're they're trying to do some things and on the
<v Speaker 1>way fighting a tom Toons and that The big thing
<v Speaker 1>that I think I don't know about you, Kyle, has
<v Speaker 1>really impressed me is the kind of the signature hacking mechanic,
<v Speaker 1>the real time hacking where you as you are, you know,
<v Speaker 1>playing this third person cheoter, you can also press left
<v Speaker 1>trigger to pull up a hacking.
<v Speaker 2>Modred. Yeah, it's like a grid miniame. Doesn't feel quite
<v Speaker 2>right like because it's not really I don't know, you're
<v Speaker 2>not really solving a puzzle per se as much as
<v Speaker 2>you're like moving something along a path to like do
<v Speaker 2>extra dat.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like the light puzzle because sometimes there's particles
<v Speaker 1>in the way, but it's it's you are doing this
<v Speaker 1>quick using the face buttons. It's actually a really smart
<v Speaker 1>way to do things because each finger is kind of
<v Speaker 1>where they naturally would be on the controllers. You don't
<v Speaker 1>have to reach far and so you got left trigger
<v Speaker 1>to hold up your hacking module. Right trigger is still
<v Speaker 1>your your gun, and then you're using the face buttons.
<v Speaker 1>I guess you can use the deep out if you want,
<v Speaker 1>but I think the face buttons feel great to quickly
<v Speaker 1>navigate this hacking grid to disable certain defenses on robots
<v Speaker 1>or kind of you'll stun them. There's also modifiers that
<v Speaker 1>you can get to, and they're limited modifiers, like you
<v Speaker 1>have to pick them up or craft them back at
<v Speaker 1>your your base. But you are essentially kind of using
<v Speaker 1>these special abilities within the hacking module to do all
<v Speaker 1>sorts of things like hack multi hack or extra damage
<v Speaker 1>or extra stun.
<v Speaker 2>Or freeze or like free instant kill. Yeah, it's uh yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's kind of to be like upfront, but I really
<v Speaker 2>really like Pragmata a lot, Like right now it is,
<v Speaker 2>it's my number one for twenty twenty six. Even over
<v Speaker 2>like maybe Resumel Requiems maybe like my number two as
<v Speaker 2>much as I liked Requiem a lot, but like it
<v Speaker 2>just feels like a very classic approach to game design,
<v Speaker 2>where it's like we've landed on a really solid core
<v Speaker 2>idea and then we built a game around it, right,
<v Speaker 2>like doing those two things hacking then shooting. It's not
<v Speaker 2>really like a bonus, right, It's not like, oh, if
<v Speaker 2>you do this, you get extra damage, so you might
<v Speaker 2>want to consider doing It's like you have to hack first,
<v Speaker 2>and that like basic idea of like you know, a
<v Speaker 2>robot's walking up to you and you have to pull
<v Speaker 2>up the hack and grit and hack real quick and
<v Speaker 2>then try and get off some headshots. Just feels really good, right,
<v Speaker 2>Like I just like that on a like a basic level.
<v Speaker 2>Capcom found something there that really worked. And then I
<v Speaker 2>just also really really liked the structure of the game.
<v Speaker 2>It's like a handful it's like six or seven like
<v Speaker 2>dense levels. Like it's it's like they're large, but they're
<v Speaker 2>also not like.
<v Speaker 1>Huge or like I one of these levels I've had
<v Speaker 1>to come back to multiple times. Yes, because you can
<v Speaker 1>kind of find escape patches to go back to your
<v Speaker 1>little base. Uh. And that's where you'll like heal yourself.
<v Speaker 1>You'll well refill your healing cartridges and they're empty. That's
<v Speaker 1>where you'll refill you know, certain special ammo types and
<v Speaker 1>like weapons you can craft that are like limited use, uh.
<v Speaker 2>And then to go yeah, and there's very limited Like
<v Speaker 2>I always hesitate to use the term like Metroid because
<v Speaker 2>like people kind of use it as a stand in
<v Speaker 2>for like good design, because I think it's just like
<v Speaker 2>good design in that like you will encounter things in
<v Speaker 2>the first level that you want to get, but it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>I need some ability to come back later, and so
<v Speaker 2>you do. You come back with a new ability, and
<v Speaker 2>then you can bypass you know, stuff and go get
<v Speaker 2>the things that you missed. And like because the level,
<v Speaker 2>the way the levels are designed is being pretty condensed
<v Speaker 2>and like unique, right, Like every sort of hallway feels
<v Speaker 2>kind of different. It like it's fun to go back
<v Speaker 2>and floor. It doesn't feel like you're having to like
<v Speaker 2>trudge along through this like huge swath of level that
<v Speaker 2>you're not interested in exploring again. And like Hugh feels
<v Speaker 2>really good to control, like he has all these like
<v Speaker 2>dashes and jumps and things like that, Like I just
<v Speaker 2>it just and then and then also like I really
<v Speaker 2>like the way the upgrades are sort of like peppered
<v Speaker 2>out throughout the course of the experience because it kind
<v Speaker 2>of tricks you into thinking like you've almost maxed out
<v Speaker 2>your stats pretty early on, but like what it's really
<v Speaker 2>doing is being like oh yeah, like you can throw
<v Speaker 2>all your experience into like your gun. But and you
<v Speaker 2>can hit the cap, but like it's gonna get It's
<v Speaker 2>gonna get bigger later. We're just not telling you that now.
<v Speaker 2>And like, so yeah, I'm like.
<v Speaker 1>Near the cap and I'm like what, okay, I feel
<v Speaker 1>like I'm already you know what am I doing after this? Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>It's it's a way. It I think it's a smart
<v Speaker 2>way to like give you the satisfaction of like maxing
<v Speaker 2>out your stats. Kind of early on because I threw
<v Speaker 2>everything into my gun, I was like, I don't care
<v Speaker 2>about my health.
<v Speaker 1>I don't really care about my I just want to.
<v Speaker 2>Be able to shoot, you know, I and so like,
<v Speaker 2>but so you hit that wall and then you're like, okay,
<v Speaker 2>well all right, I might as well upgrade my hacking.
<v Speaker 2>And then you're like opening elements of the hacking that
<v Speaker 2>you didn't really realize were there, and it just because
<v Speaker 2>it limits what you can upgrade when it does a
<v Speaker 2>really good job at like making sure you use everything,
<v Speaker 2>and you use all the guns and use all the
<v Speaker 2>hacks and you don't just find one thing and like
<v Speaker 2>focus on it, which is I'm very prone to do,
<v Speaker 2>like I am very much like I played Elder Ring
<v Speaker 2>with my starting weapon. You know, like that's like that's
<v Speaker 2>just the way like I play games. I just max
<v Speaker 2>that sucker out as like I like this weapon, I'm
<v Speaker 2>gonna stick with it. I mean that's how the Soul's
<v Speaker 2>games are kind of designed, Like you don't really you
<v Speaker 2>can just kind of like you find what you like
<v Speaker 2>and make it work for you. But yeah, and then also,
<v Speaker 2>like Diana is so charming and fun and like she's
<v Speaker 2>like every time I bring her something back to the
<v Speaker 2>lab to like give to her, like hey, you know,
<v Speaker 2>like this this is what this is like a playground
<v Speaker 2>on Earth and I'm going to set it up in
<v Speaker 2>the lab here and there's only like a couple of animations,
<v Speaker 2>but it's always charming to see her get really excited
<v Speaker 2>because you've brought her something and she's I mean, it's
<v Speaker 2>always a danger of like a child sidekick being obnoxious.
<v Speaker 2>But I don't think I think they thread the needle
<v Speaker 2>with Diana where she's like where she's fun and she's
<v Speaker 2>like supportive and like you guys are genuinely working together
<v Speaker 2>like you need her and you don't, and you're not
<v Speaker 2>like protecting her in the sense of like you know,
<v Speaker 2>oh she's she's in the corner getting hit by enemies
<v Speaker 2>and I need to go over there. She's just like
<v Speaker 2>always with you on your back and it's like a
<v Speaker 2>cool an yeah yeah, like she's she's totally like necessary
<v Speaker 2>and helpful. Yeah. And I just man, I just love
<v Speaker 2>a shit going wrong in space story. Like that's just
<v Speaker 2>like my favorite thing, you know, Like I and I
<v Speaker 2>just I just I was really charmed by the whole experience.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like really in a sci fi sort of mindset
<v Speaker 2>right now. I love just like science fiction and like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>to be like on the moon with a little robot
<v Speaker 2>girl on my back, like blowing up androids and like this.
<v Speaker 2>I just I was really I could not put it down.
<v Speaker 2>Like it's one of those games that like I beat.
<v Speaker 2>I saw credits and there's like it kind of like
<v Speaker 2>sort of is like, hey, you know, there's like some
<v Speaker 2>extra stuff here after the credits if you want to go.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's pretty significant, Like it's it's you know, there's
<v Speaker 2>probably like another three or four hours of gameplay like
<v Speaker 2>after the credits. And I was like, yeah, absolutely, sign
<v Speaker 2>me up. I am not ready to leave this world yet.
<v Speaker 2>So like I had a great time with pragmat I
<v Speaker 2>really I really loved it.
<v Speaker 1>How long did it take you to beat?
<v Speaker 2>I think it was like sixteen hours total, and then
<v Speaker 2>I probably beat it. You know, saw credits at about
<v Speaker 2>the like thirteen or fourteen mark something like that. I
<v Speaker 2>don't know if my math is lining up here, but
<v Speaker 2>like I yeah, it just it feels like a classic.
<v Speaker 2>I know some people are calling it, like referring to
<v Speaker 2>as like an Xbox three sixty era, which is like,
<v Speaker 2>I guess I get that, but it's more that it's
<v Speaker 2>just like they like they they built a game around
<v Speaker 2>a mechanic in a smart way, and it made and
<v Speaker 2>it's like a very sort of singular, thorough experience that's
<v Speaker 2>very satisfying when you complete it, you know, and it's
<v Speaker 2>like it's just it feels it feels classic in that
<v Speaker 2>way and in a way that like modern gaming really
<v Speaker 2>just drives me insane, Like I just don't really want
<v Speaker 2>like a lot of games try to like put everything
<v Speaker 2>in there, like they try to hit everything that's popular,
<v Speaker 2>and Pragmato was kind of like, uh no, we have
<v Speaker 2>this mchann, this good third person shooter mechanic, and we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna sort of like We're not We're not gonna throw
<v Speaker 2>everything in here. We're just gonna focus on what we
<v Speaker 2>what's what we want, what's working well, which is the
<v Speaker 2>hacking and the shooting. And I think the level design,
<v Speaker 2>you know what I mean.
<v Speaker 1>I I do enjoy the level design there is, you know,
<v Speaker 1>while it's pretty linear, there are like areas to explore
<v Speaker 1>and find secret rooms and that kind of thing. And
<v Speaker 1>I find that I think the pacing is really strong
<v Speaker 1>right now, at least, you know, I'm probably h two
<v Speaker 1>or three three hour maybe four hours in. I had
<v Speaker 1>to a little inside Baseball, but I had to replay
<v Speaker 1>the first hour because my gameplay capture had a little
<v Speaker 1>technical hiccup on it for that section. So while I
<v Speaker 1>have played probably more, it feels like I'm only actually
<v Speaker 1>like two or three hours into the game because I
<v Speaker 1>had to replay the first hour.
<v Speaker 2>Charles had started it. At least, are you playing it
<v Speaker 2>at all?
<v Speaker 3>I played a little bit, I for no particular reason,
<v Speaker 3>didn't really haven't really gone back to it yet. I
<v Speaker 3>might go back to it. I'm doing other like work
<v Speaker 3>stuff right now. I think I liked it, but I
<v Speaker 3>think there's like that like and again, I played like
<v Speaker 3>maybe forty minutes of it, so I didn't give it
<v Speaker 3>like a super super thorough shot. I did play it before,
<v Speaker 3>like a preview event. I don't know what I'm I'm
<v Speaker 3>missing with it. Like, I not in a way that
<v Speaker 3>I disliked it, but I didn't. There was nothing that
<v Speaker 3>really like hooked me in, Like there was nothing that
<v Speaker 3>had me like really excited to go back. I think
<v Speaker 3>maybe I I was surprised at how unsympathetic I was
<v Speaker 3>for the rest of Hugh's astronaut crew. The game starts off,
<v Speaker 3>they get separated very quickly, and gosh, I can't even
<v Speaker 3>remember the specifics of what it was, but I was
<v Speaker 3>just kind of mildly frustrated. I was like, why did
<v Speaker 3>none of you know what's going on? None of you
<v Speaker 3>are I.
<v Speaker 2>Don't know, but there right like communications has stopped, right,
<v Speaker 2>It's like, you don't know what happened there, So we
<v Speaker 2>just got to send some people up there to figure
<v Speaker 2>it out, you know.
<v Speaker 3>I think I think there was a guy and it
<v Speaker 3>was it's a very like anime, sort of like Japanese
<v Speaker 3>translation of English writing, where there's one guy that's like, wow,
<v Speaker 3>so this this can really three D print anything. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>this is the three D printer. It does lots of
<v Speaker 3>three D printing and can do even large environments. That
<v Speaker 3>was the part where I was like, you're you're an astronaut,
<v Speaker 3>surely you would know every in and out of this
<v Speaker 3>thing and from space.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you really can. I don't want to spoil anything
<v Speaker 2>Charles and Listeners, but those characters do not matter at
<v Speaker 2>all in the slight.
<v Speaker 3>You may never even see them again. I said it
<v Speaker 3>was it was more of a uh uh I had.
<v Speaker 3>I had yet to be super invested in the world buildings,
<v Speaker 3>even though even though though those characters obviously I didn't.
<v Speaker 3>I thought it was more funny than anything.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think their names are exposition A, Exposition B,
<v Speaker 2>and Exposition C, and then Hugh is the fourth character.
<v Speaker 2>I think, yeah, absolutely, but that makes sense. Charles, it
<v Speaker 2>is very It's very transparent in a weird way that
<v Speaker 2>I kind of appreciated where it was just sort of
<v Speaker 2>like it's like, yeah, this is what it is. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's a big three D printer, and that's like a
<v Speaker 2>big element of the game. We're gonna be three D printing.
<v Speaker 2>We found a special substance on the Moon that's very
<v Speaker 2>valuable and can three d print things, which is like
<v Speaker 2>that is that is like contemporary sci fi storytelling, like
<v Speaker 2>unobtainium the stuff. I don't know if you guys have
<v Speaker 2>seen Project hill Mary, but that's a big part of
<v Speaker 2>Project hill Mary is like a mysterious powerful substance shows up. Yeah, right,
<v Speaker 2>which is why I like, again, like I'm just in
<v Speaker 2>that mood, right, Like I read Project hail Mary a
<v Speaker 2>couple months ago and like was it in excitement for
<v Speaker 2>the movie, and I just like, I like, I like
<v Speaker 2>of just being in space, let's figure stuff out. There's
<v Speaker 2>there's another game that's coming up soon that I that
<v Speaker 2>I'm enjoying so far that kind of has a similar
<v Speaker 2>sort of at least set up, you know, And yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I forgot where I was going, but yeah, it's I like,
<v Speaker 2>I like that. It was just like setting the table
<v Speaker 2>very cleanly and then and then those guys kind of
<v Speaker 2>get out of there. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>The the thing I respect the most about Pragmata is that,
<v Speaker 3>And I think the reason I don't I haven't felt
<v Speaker 3>bad about like not going back is I appreciate it's
<v Speaker 3>very transparent about what it is and it's not like
<v Speaker 3>to I think the point of like the Xbox three
<v Speaker 3>sixty comparison was just like, well, yeah, this is our
<v Speaker 3>idea for a game, and we don't The development cycle
<v Speaker 3>is short enough that like we're just gonna make this
<v Speaker 3>and then if we want to have more ideas, we'll
<v Speaker 3>make another game and maybe put those ideas in that game.
<v Speaker 3>It's not a game that's like it's this and there's
<v Speaker 3>an open world and there's you know, a bunch of
<v Speaker 3>characters and you can improve your relationship with them. It's like, no,
<v Speaker 3>it's the third person shooter and there's some puzzles involved,
<v Speaker 3>and there's robots you're shooting.
<v Speaker 2>Them, and Charles you said, like the development cycle is
<v Speaker 2>like small. I just the announcement trailer was five years ago.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah no, no, I met more for like an Xbox
<v Speaker 3>U sixty era this yame obviously it was like comically long.
<v Speaker 3>They had a delay and then yeah it is.
<v Speaker 2>It is. What if I will say, like a recommendation
<v Speaker 2>is like if you like Requiem, right, if you enjoyed
<v Speaker 2>Resume or Requiem, like this is different, right, it is
<v Speaker 2>capcom but in terms of just like a kind of straightforward,
<v Speaker 2>you know, small scale, densely designed levels that you move
<v Speaker 2>your way through because like Requiem is like basically a
<v Speaker 2>series of what like five or six levels basically, like
<v Speaker 2>that's the same structure is here, Like they clearly took
<v Speaker 2>lessons from Resident Evil for Pragmata. I'm sure, you know,
<v Speaker 2>I'm sure they're probably there's overlap in the teams and
<v Speaker 2>stuff there.
<v Speaker 3>So it's like maybe I I played Resident Evil seven, eight, nine,
<v Speaker 3>and two all within a few months. Maybe that's my
<v Speaker 3>thing with Pragmata is I'm like, I just played a
<v Speaker 3>lot of these actually, and if no one's like about
<v Speaker 3>to die, the stakes just feel lower to me. I mean,
<v Speaker 3>I guess they're kind of about to die, but I do,
<v Speaker 3>I do, I do feel that DNA in the.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, in a complimentary way, right, it is different, Like
<v Speaker 2>it's like it's not I'm not saying if you love
<v Speaker 2>Resident Evil you'll love this, but if you like Requiem
<v Speaker 2>in particular, and like you're like, I kind of want
<v Speaker 2>more of just like good like third person action or
<v Speaker 2>you know, I know that game was kind of split
<v Speaker 2>in two in an interesting way. Like pragmat is a
<v Speaker 2>great follow up for Requiem if you're not exhausted by it,
<v Speaker 2>as Charles may or may not be.
<v Speaker 1>We're not sure.
<v Speaker 3>I also, for the rec I played all of Requiemen
<v Speaker 3>third person because I, oh, it makes me less nonxious.
<v Speaker 2>Mister.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe if I played the first person part then I
<v Speaker 3>don't know. Anyways, I respect pragmata. I'm glad that people
<v Speaker 3>like it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's fair enough.
<v Speaker 2>And it ends well too, like it's a nice It's
<v Speaker 2>not I won't. I'm not gonna say it was like
<v Speaker 2>some revelatory narrative that like had me in tears or anything.
<v Speaker 2>But I just I liked the sort of trajectory, and
<v Speaker 2>I found the conclusion satisfying in a way that I was.
<v Speaker 2>I was very happy with I.
<v Speaker 1>Think I remember from working on the video review. Matt
<v Speaker 1>also pointed out the ending as like a highlight.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So it's nice because I I feel like I've played
<v Speaker 1>several games recently where the ending was just like huh,
<v Speaker 1>So it's nice to just maybe have a game that's like, oh, okay,
<v Speaker 1>you know.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it ends right like you know, And and I'm
<v Speaker 2>not betraying anything. I'm not like, I'm not saying that.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, you know, say that the video game ends.
<v Speaker 2>A video man, I like a video game that ends.
<v Speaker 2>I gotta tell you like in this day and age,
<v Speaker 2>like just end your video games, mane.
<v Speaker 3>I did have an interview recently where I was like,
<v Speaker 3>so basically, it's just game, you're not really gonna be
<v Speaker 3>able to play for Everything're like, oh, yeah, no, this
<v Speaker 3>game has an ending, and I was like, that's crazy.
<v Speaker 3>I just didn't the genre. I just wasn't expecting a
<v Speaker 3>game to have an ending. And it's it's nice to
<v Speaker 3>just be like, oh, I not. I don't have to
<v Speaker 3>commit myself to playing this game for the rest of eternity.
<v Speaker 3>I can do it for a few weeks and then be.
<v Speaker 1>Well cool. Well yeah that was Pragmata. I do want
<v Speaker 1>to say I really liked the soundtrack as well so far,
<v Speaker 1>some really cool like quiet piano moments that feel very
<v Speaker 1>feel very CAPCLM to me. I think I think that.
<v Speaker 2>You know, Resident Evil Safer Them kind of stuff. You know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, it's nice. So yeah, check out Pragmata. I
<v Speaker 1>think it's I think it's worth playing. Well. I have
<v Speaker 1>been playing very briefly. I started it yesterday, but it's currently,
<v Speaker 1>I think right now, the number one game on Steam,
<v Speaker 1>so probably worth talking about. But wind Rows it is
<v Speaker 1>a hold onto your seats everybody. A survival crafting game, okay,
<v Speaker 1>set in the age.
<v Speaker 2>Of it probably has an ending, right, I'm sure it
<v Speaker 2>has a very satisfying narrative conclusion.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know. I don't know. I haven't gotten there.
<v Speaker 2>Yet one because it probably doesn't.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, wind Rows, it's yeah, it's a I'm playing. I
<v Speaker 1>was playing at solo on on our weekly Wednesday stream.
<v Speaker 1>But you can, I know it's co op as far
<v Speaker 1>as I know, it is not uh no PvP, it's
<v Speaker 1>just PvE so but co op or solo it does.
<v Speaker 2>On the Steam page, it just says p VE embark
<v Speaker 2>on a PvE survival adventure.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, uh, And it is very much if you
<v Speaker 1>have played a survival game in the last five years,
<v Speaker 1>it is one of those. And it's a genre I love.
<v Speaker 1>I love survival and craft games. I am even as
<v Speaker 1>a big fan of the genre myself, I am kind
<v Speaker 1>of starting to feel a little fatigue. And you know,
<v Speaker 1>if I'm really gonna sink time into one of these,
<v Speaker 1>it needs to have like an interesting hook, and so
<v Speaker 1>far I have not made it far enough. Captain hook
<v Speaker 1>Yeah uh, the pirate thing could be a hook long term,
<v Speaker 1>because I've seen I've seen clips of people playing and you'll,
<v Speaker 1>you know, eventually get your own ship and you're sailing
<v Speaker 1>the high seas, and I'm like, okay, that could be fun.
<v Speaker 1>But right now where I'm at in the game, it
<v Speaker 1>is very much just kind of survival game one oh one.
<v Speaker 1>You know, you are stranded on an island after being shipwrecked,
<v Speaker 1>and you're picking up sticks, you're picking up stones.
<v Speaker 2>You're making punching trees, punching trees, punching trees innovations. The
<v Speaker 2>sticks and stones are into an axe and that's you
<v Speaker 2>get the trees. Yes, I'm coming off like very negative
<v Speaker 2>on this. I'm just being cynical.
<v Speaker 1>It is. It is by the numbers survival game at
<v Speaker 1>the start.
<v Speaker 2>Which is like, hey, you know what, that's fine to
<v Speaker 2>sort of execute on genre. I'm totally fine with that,
<v Speaker 2>you know. I was just I was just praising Pragmata
<v Speaker 2>for being like a great third person shooter that you know,
<v Speaker 2>sort of an although it does have a sort of
<v Speaker 2>a twist. But yeah, so I please don't don't. I'm
<v Speaker 2>just I'm just trying to be silly.
<v Speaker 1>I get it, I get it. I will say there
<v Speaker 1>are some fun smaller innovations. Maybe innovations is the wrong word,
<v Speaker 1>because they are very kind of small and I've yet
<v Speaker 1>to see like their big impact. But I do enjoy
<v Speaker 1>the fact that there are endgame challenges that tie into
<v Speaker 1>the decor system, not unlike World of Warcraft and its
<v Speaker 1>recent expansion, where you know, all the quests and bosses
<v Speaker 1>and such can drop furniture now, and there's like a
<v Speaker 1>much not nearly as generous as as Warcrafts kind of
<v Speaker 1>reward vector, but there is like a system. I killed
<v Speaker 1>a couple bores, okay, and then I look at my
<v Speaker 1>challenges and it says two out of fifty, and if
<v Speaker 1>I kill fifty bores, I get a bores head plaque,
<v Speaker 1>like a yeah, taxidermy, Is it the recipe for the
<v Speaker 1>plaque or is it you straight up get the plaque?
<v Speaker 1>I think you just get the plaque. It seemed like
<v Speaker 1>it was purely a decoor thing, whereas the it seems
<v Speaker 1>like Crafting is really tied to a lot of the
<v Speaker 1>functional or functional stuff. But I will say there's like
<v Speaker 1>a fair amount of you know, as somebody, my favorite
<v Speaker 1>part of these games is building my own base, and
<v Speaker 1>you know, there's a fairly robust building system at play.
<v Speaker 1>It's early access, so big caveat there, But for being
<v Speaker 1>an early access game, I'm I'm I'm happy with like
<v Speaker 1>the options that are there. I like the fact that
<v Speaker 1>you know, some of these crafting games they you just
<v Speaker 1>like can build whatever you want and don't have to
<v Speaker 1>worry about structural integrity. I always think the games are
<v Speaker 1>more fun when you have to make sure they don't like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, make sure they are they have structure to them,
<v Speaker 1>and you know, the weight of the roof is supported
<v Speaker 1>by cross beams and stuff like that, and it's doing that.
<v Speaker 1>So I points in my book for that. I think,
<v Speaker 1>you know, it doesn't feel particularly great combat wise, you
<v Speaker 1>can one of the big changes I would say is
<v Speaker 1>that you have like a gun. At the start, you
<v Speaker 1>have a sword and a gun, and normally in survival
<v Speaker 1>games you get the gun way later. In this game,
<v Speaker 1>you start with the gun and you can craft ammo
<v Speaker 1>in the first ten minutes. Interesting, and so it kind
<v Speaker 1>of changes some of the play style. Then you like
<v Speaker 1>you're not just punching bores. You know, will say like
<v Speaker 1>there is a you really have to have your dodge
<v Speaker 1>gained down and like get they actually kind of quote
<v Speaker 1>souls like combat as an inspiration in their steam listing,
<v Speaker 1>and I could maybe see what they mean. Like enemies
<v Speaker 1>are like really tough, like you know, if you get
<v Speaker 1>hit a few times, you're gonna die, even though it's
<v Speaker 1>just a bore, you know, and they have like you
<v Speaker 1>really have to kind of learn their their timings and
<v Speaker 1>animations to dodge at appropriate times. So you know, I
<v Speaker 1>I do enjoy the combat in that sense, I just
<v Speaker 1>don't think it feels particularly good. It feels very weightless,
<v Speaker 1>you know, just kind of like, oh, I see my character,
<v Speaker 1>but I don't there's I'm not getting like the big
<v Speaker 1>bombastic on screen effects of like the screen shake and
<v Speaker 1>the you know, various cameras. It's a third person, which
<v Speaker 1>I do think is is kind of more challenging sometimes
<v Speaker 1>to kind of get that game feel nailed down, because
<v Speaker 1>I feel like in first person you can very easily
<v Speaker 1>kind of when I shoot the gun, my camera, the
<v Speaker 1>camera in game camera is gonna shake, and there's going
<v Speaker 1>to be like you know, some first person maybe visual
<v Speaker 1>effects when I'm running, you know, some some slight blurring
<v Speaker 1>or like camera lens distortion when I'm running. That like
<v Speaker 1>when you're playing a first person game. I feel like
<v Speaker 1>it's you can dial those in a little more challenging,
<v Speaker 1>maybe in a third person setting. I also know it's
<v Speaker 1>early access, so they've probably that kind of stuff that
<v Speaker 1>Polish is probably further down on the roadmap, you know
<v Speaker 1>what I mean. I think they're still working on getting
<v Speaker 1>fundamentals in place. But you know, it's it's I might
<v Speaker 1>keep playing it. I'm not sure. I did uninstall it
<v Speaker 1>after the stream yesterday, but as I'm as I'm talking
<v Speaker 1>about it, I'm like, maybe I reinstall it. I think
<v Speaker 1>it would maybe be fun with with friends. I think
<v Speaker 1>I would want to kind of the Pirate Fantasy part,
<v Speaker 1>you know, like a.
<v Speaker 2>More If of Thieves is more focused on sort of
<v Speaker 2>like being goofy, Right, you're not really it's not about
<v Speaker 2>survival and Sea of Thieves, right, It seems like this
<v Speaker 2>is like more grounded, Like yeah, it very much looks
<v Speaker 2>like a.
<v Speaker 1>Like realistic rendering. Yeah, you know, they're gone for like
<v Speaker 1>the gret you know, it looks.
<v Speaker 2>Like the games across Skull and Bones like wanted so
<v Speaker 2>desperately to be Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, honestly, I was I was thinking that as like
<v Speaker 1>a comparison point, like, yeah, it kind of feels like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, skull and Bones, like what they might have wanted.
<v Speaker 3>It to be. Sull Bones still like available for purchase,
<v Speaker 3>as far as I know, the fact that we're like
<v Speaker 3>the type of game, it's just the type of game
<v Speaker 3>that would have gone an offline very shortly.
<v Speaker 1>Let's see, I'm looking.
<v Speaker 2>I mean it's it's certainly still available. I mean it's I.
<v Speaker 1>Think purchase, there's new reviews.
<v Speaker 2>I haven't played it.
<v Speaker 3>I just I just know that it took forever to
<v Speaker 3>come out, and then the sentiment on launch was like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it's it's the game that we've been playing. A bunch
<v Speaker 3>of them aren't really crazy about.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's like it was. Well, the thing about that
<v Speaker 2>game is like it's not really it's not multiplayer dependent,
<v Speaker 2>you know, like it's it's it's like a it's like
<v Speaker 2>a single player game where other people are online. As
<v Speaker 2>far as I remember, I really only played like an hour.
<v Speaker 2>You can I streamed it, I think for game before me.
<v Speaker 2>You can probably go find that stream. But yeah, so
<v Speaker 2>it's not really I don't know, it would be weird
<v Speaker 2>if they just like pulled it offline.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, that's very fair, Okay, I you know this.
<v Speaker 1>It does it kind of wet my appetite because I
<v Speaker 1>haven't played a survival game in probably good like six
<v Speaker 1>six to eight months.
<v Speaker 3>It was just kind of just did your time window there, It's.
<v Speaker 1>Been a minute, but I did kind of I'm like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I really want to get back into one of these,
<v Speaker 1>and there is There are a couple of games I
<v Speaker 1>want to shout out moving on from from windrows of
<v Speaker 1>games that are on my personal wish lists that are
<v Speaker 1>that are coming up that if you're into those kind
<v Speaker 1>of games and are looking for like maybe a different
<v Speaker 1>kind of angle. One of those is solar Punk, which
<v Speaker 1>I've been following for I feel like a year or
<v Speaker 1>two now, and that game is like you're on these
<v Speaker 1>sky islands and you're sailing around and it's everything is
<v Speaker 1>If you're not familiar with the solar punk genre, it's
<v Speaker 1>kind of the opposite of cyberpunk. What if the future
<v Speaker 1>was more reliant on you know, technology, but it was
<v Speaker 1>clean energy and solar energy. That's where the name comes from,
<v Speaker 1>and like what would that look like as a society,
<v Speaker 1>And it's a much more optimistic fantasy than something like
<v Speaker 1>a a cyberpunk. And then another one where was it?
<v Speaker 1>There was one that got announced in or not announced
<v Speaker 1>but shown off more during the Triple I initiative, and
<v Speaker 1>I'm struggling to find it. H M, I don't know
<v Speaker 1>where it went. That's all right, I can, I can.
<v Speaker 1>I can vamp while I pull up the list.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it'll it'll come to you, to you in a moment.
<v Speaker 2>It'll just it'll just appear in like ten minutes when
<v Speaker 2>we're on a different topic, and you'll shout.
<v Speaker 1>Out, yeah, right, and we'll be like, I'm looking at
<v Speaker 1>I'm looking up our Triple I recap real quick, Charles,
<v Speaker 1>Do you remember the Do you remember the games that
<v Speaker 1>were in the Triple I? Uh?
<v Speaker 2>Do you remember all of them? Can you just like
<v Speaker 2>list them off? Just do you remember a type.
<v Speaker 1>Of game you were? It was a crafting game, cut,
<v Speaker 1>cutesy visuals. I don't know. It's driving me nuts. Why
<v Speaker 1>can't I remember that?
<v Speaker 2>Alabaster Dawn, Alca, hast Away Team, Borrow, Trauma, Home and
<v Speaker 2>Harbor Expansion, Rotato, Primal Dread Deal, See Karen on the
<v Speaker 2>Trail DLC is this helping you? Castlevani clover Pit DLC
<v Speaker 2>Crop Dead as Disco, Don't Starve Elsewhere Ever, Win, Graveyard Keeper,
<v Speaker 2>Far Far West, Final Sentence, Frost Trail, Graveyard Keeper, Long Gone.
<v Speaker 2>That looks cool. I want to play Long Gone.
<v Speaker 1>That game doesn't cool. I've been following that on TikTok.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it kind of looks like Last of Us but
<v Speaker 2>like two D pixelated. Uh, and it looks looks cool.
<v Speaker 2>Lost Castle two, Lost Railway, Machine Party, Never A Way
<v Speaker 2>Over the Hill, Showcase, Risk of Rain two, Romestead, I
<v Speaker 2>Keep Going, Shifting, Sledding Game, Solar Punk, As We've been, Spacecraft,
<v Speaker 2>Star Seeker, super Battle, Golf, The Lift, Thick As Thieves,
<v Speaker 2>Too Deep to Quit. We were here tomorrow, Windrows. It's
<v Speaker 2>all right, that's right, that's all right. So that was
<v Speaker 2>that was our recap on the podcast.
<v Speaker 1>Oh you know what, I bet if it's I bet
<v Speaker 1>it's on my Steam wish list. Okay, let's go through that. Kidding.
<v Speaker 2>Thanks for I just was reading Marcus's article, by the way,
<v Speaker 2>the Triple I Indership, which you rounded up.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, thank you, Marcus. We appreciate you. Yeah. I don't
<v Speaker 1>remember the name and it's bugging me out. I must
<v Speaker 1>have it wish listed somewhere. That's okay though, that's okay.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, Solar punk is on my list to check
<v Speaker 1>those out. But let's take a quick break and we'll
<v Speaker 1>come back. We'll talk about the blood Borne animated film
<v Speaker 1>in Kyle's regret. We'll be back right after this. Welcome
<v Speaker 1>back to the game and former show. Thanks for waiting
<v Speaker 1>while we well, we took a quick break. Guys. Let's
<v Speaker 1>get into the Bloodborn animated film news. Kyle, you wrote
<v Speaker 1>this story up. I know I have not read into
<v Speaker 1>it much. I know Jack septic Eye is helping to
<v Speaker 1>produce it.
<v Speaker 2>I believe he says the press release I got I
<v Speaker 2>said executive producer, but he has said just producer, which
<v Speaker 2>I mean, they're basically as far as I understand, those
<v Speaker 2>roles are pretty similar, you know what I mean. Like
<v Speaker 2>it's just kind of a title thing, so maybe it
<v Speaker 2>doesn't really matter ultimately.
<v Speaker 3>But executive is a lot more overarching kind of creative
<v Speaker 3>control decisions where it's like a producer might be like
<v Speaker 3>literally in the like helping organize the production.
<v Speaker 2>Should I should I you know, do we want to
<v Speaker 2>spend the money on this on this shot? Right? Or
<v Speaker 2>Executive producer is kind of like back at the office
<v Speaker 2>being like, yeah, we should probably make a Bloodborne movie.
<v Speaker 2>People like that, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>That's he just says that over and over.
<v Speaker 2>I'm available for that too, by the way, Sony, I
<v Speaker 2>can I can be.
<v Speaker 1>You don't have the Jack Sceptic Guy bank roll though,
<v Speaker 1>that is correct, And yeah.
<v Speaker 3>It is a thing of like if you give enough
<v Speaker 3>money to a film production, they'll probably give you an
<v Speaker 3>executive producer credit and you can help influence it.
<v Speaker 2>If it's a lot of.
<v Speaker 3>Money, then they're like, yeah, I mean you're you're helping
<v Speaker 3>pay for this, so you give a role. I don't
<v Speaker 3>think that's what jackcept Guy's doing in this case, but
<v Speaker 3>that is like a thing that happens.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I did pull your story up, Kyle, but.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so it's like it's yeah, I have it up
<v Speaker 2>and now is because like it's funny, like and this
<v Speaker 2>is maybe just how I think about movies in general.
<v Speaker 2>And they reach out to was the press release, and
<v Speaker 2>I followed up and I was like, hey, I would
<v Speaker 2>love to learn more about this. I would like to
<v Speaker 2>talk to Lyrical Media, the animation studio making it. I'm
<v Speaker 2>not really interested in talking to Jack Sceptic Guy, Like
<v Speaker 2>I want to talk to the people who are making it.
<v Speaker 2>And they almost seem kind of I don't know, not
<v Speaker 2>not surprised because it was just an email. They were like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>we'll follow up, sure, sure, but yeah, it's it's it's cool.
<v Speaker 2>I'm into it. I am also into Jack Septekai being
<v Speaker 2>involved because he seems like a genuine like like truly
<v Speaker 2>like a big bloodborn fan, Like I don't really follow
<v Speaker 2>him very closely, right and he and and like I
<v Speaker 2>like this sort of movement from like popular streamers, like guys,
<v Speaker 2>what was the uh yeah, Like I I don't really
<v Speaker 2>follow these streamers myself. I'm not a person who watches
<v Speaker 2>a lot of streams and like I I but I
<v Speaker 2>just I like the idea of like market Player in particular,
<v Speaker 2>being like, hey, I've like I've developed this like following
<v Speaker 2>I have some money, I am going to like pursue
<v Speaker 2>this sort of like what is clearly a passion project, right,
<v Speaker 2>Like I would love to see more folks like doing that,
<v Speaker 2>like who sort of have these windfalls of like you know,
<v Speaker 2>becoming popular streamers, like finding some artistic sort of avenue
<v Speaker 2>that they want to pursue. And for market Player was
<v Speaker 2>this film and maybe for Jack Septeki, it's like getting
<v Speaker 2>involved in like making films and adapting his favorite properties
<v Speaker 2>stuff like that. So I like, I like that, Like
<v Speaker 2>I'm into that. That's cool, Like I want someone who's
<v Speaker 2>just like truly a fan to be in there, rather
<v Speaker 2>than it being like, I don't know, I would I
<v Speaker 2>would assume it's probably like you know, Sony executives who
<v Speaker 2>are not necessarily on the video game side of the
<v Speaker 2>sort of larger company, like they're on the film side
<v Speaker 2>of it, and they are aware that like Sony owns
<v Speaker 2>this thing that is quite popular, Like I would imagine
<v Speaker 2>that's kind of what this movie might have looked like
<v Speaker 2>in the past, but maybe in present day it might
<v Speaker 2>be like more they're like, Okay, we gotta we got
<v Speaker 2>to figure out what it is that people like about
<v Speaker 2>this thing and make it. But I mean, the thing
<v Speaker 2>that I'm unsure about is like, yeah, I like lyrical
<v Speaker 2>media a film film industry there. I guess they also
<v Speaker 2>have their fingers in video game pies as well. Beyond Mortis, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>like they they're generally unproven. They've had a couple live
<v Speaker 2>action films, none of which I've heard of, except for
<v Speaker 2>the Death of Robin Hood, which is coming out because
<v Speaker 2>it has Hugh Jackman playing Robin Hood, which is kind
<v Speaker 2>of like an old Robin Hood. I don't know if
<v Speaker 2>you guys have watched the trailer for that, but which
<v Speaker 2>seems kind of like an interesting idea. I don't, I
<v Speaker 2>have no idea, but yeah, they they they produced Bruiser,
<v Speaker 2>how to blow Up a Pipeline, Mother Couch Elevation.
<v Speaker 1>Pipeline.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, okay, is that that's I don't know that one
<v Speaker 2>is okay, and that's that's.
<v Speaker 1>A live action film. But it was good.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, these are what I'm reading are their live action films.
<v Speaker 1>Sorry I miss that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, I like cool. That's that's reassuring because I
<v Speaker 2>had not watched any of the I've not seen any
<v Speaker 2>of these movies. And then on the animated side, they
<v Speaker 2>they're doing Death Stranding Mosquito, which we have seen like
<v Speaker 2>a trailer for or like a teaser trailer for, which
<v Speaker 2>has a pretty cool like visual style, like it looks unique,
<v Speaker 2>it looks different than Death Stranding. It's very like, you know,
<v Speaker 2>it is three D models, but it kind of has
<v Speaker 2>that sort of two D look, you know. So I
<v Speaker 2>think with that with like like I said, like Jen
<v Speaker 2>really unproven and like you know, on the animation side certainly.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, if Kojima is interested in having them adapt
<v Speaker 2>his work, like that's a good sign, because I think
<v Speaker 2>he's pretty you know, picky about that kind of thing.
<v Speaker 2>If you're gonna make a film out of a Kojima production,
<v Speaker 2>I think he's like I think I'm surprised he's not
<v Speaker 2>just directing it. But I mean, I guess that would
<v Speaker 2>just take him away from making video games. But which
<v Speaker 2>is all to say, like I'm optimistic about this thing.
<v Speaker 2>Like people who are like into Bloodborne are involved. We
<v Speaker 2>haven't seen a lot from this studio, but like you
<v Speaker 2>know what tiny little bit we have seen. I guess
<v Speaker 2>their live action stuff is pretty positive, and they're and
<v Speaker 2>their animated teasers like, Okay, that look's cool. I'm optimistic
<v Speaker 2>about it. I like Soul's games. I enjoy, but like
<v Speaker 2>I've always wanted more from the story, Like I don't
<v Speaker 2>engage with those games in the way that like some
<v Speaker 2>people do where they really dig into the lower and
<v Speaker 2>the story. So I would I would actually like to
<v Speaker 2>have like, you know, a two hour you know noise
<v Speaker 2>stray in forward. Yeah, just like okay, tell me what's
<v Speaker 2>happening here? Yeah. I also think I wouldn't mind that.
<v Speaker 3>You know, animation is I think definitely the right move
<v Speaker 3>for this.
<v Speaker 1>I do think it.
<v Speaker 3>I do think a live action version would be cool,
<v Speaker 3>but I do like that it's kind of a they're
<v Speaker 3>focusing more on like the With animation, you focus a
<v Speaker 3>lot more on sort of like the visuals and the
<v Speaker 3>atmosphere more than just like the.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>It could it could be a very dialogue light movie
<v Speaker 3>but animated very well, and I think that would be
<v Speaker 3>like a okay, absolutely successful of a decision.
<v Speaker 2>Have I talked about Angels Egg on this podcast, this
<v Speaker 2>kind of this thing, this weird thing. I'm obsessed with,
<v Speaker 2>you guys what I'm talking about, Alex I try to
<v Speaker 2>advice it with me.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you and Eric.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, I'm gonna go see this thing. If
<v Speaker 2>you guys, don't go. But it's it's directed by the
<v Speaker 2>Ghosts in the Shell director. It was like pre Ghost
<v Speaker 2>in the Shell and then the Final Fantasy artist whose
<v Speaker 2>name is is drawing a blank, who like draws all
<v Speaker 2>the logos for Final Fantasy and always does the character art.
<v Speaker 2>You get Fantasy artist that's gonna be the name that
<v Speaker 2>comes up.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, amno, what's the first thing, yeah RIGHTAKA.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, yeah, So it's like it's a it's a collaboration
<v Speaker 2>between those two. That film Angel's Egg. It's like a
<v Speaker 2>seventy minute film and it is like the most impenetrable,
<v Speaker 2>like bizarre. I don't I watched that. I went to
<v Speaker 2>a theater and watched that film, and I don't think
<v Speaker 2>I've ever been more confused about what I saw in
<v Speaker 2>a theater than seeing the film, And it's become kind
<v Speaker 2>of an obsession for me, where it's like it's on
<v Speaker 2>HBO Max now so I'll like I'll throw it on
<v Speaker 2>the background. But I think there's a total of like
<v Speaker 2>twelve lines of dialogue in that movie. And and then
<v Speaker 2>in Dark Soul's three there is what appears to be
<v Speaker 2>a pretty overt reference to it, like in the with
<v Speaker 2>the idea that Miazaki is like was probably inspired by
<v Speaker 2>this movie Angel's Egg.
<v Speaker 1>So like because you know it came in nineteen eighty five, yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it's like it looks very bloodborn. I didn't realize it
<v Speaker 1>was old. Yeah, like they played Bloodborn.
<v Speaker 2>No, no, you look at that, and like if you
<v Speaker 2>just even pulled the trailers called Angel's Egg and like
<v Speaker 2>you could just see like from software mood in it,
<v Speaker 2>Like it just is like, I really I if I
<v Speaker 2>ever get a chance to talk to to Miazaki about
<v Speaker 2>the Dark Souls and stuff or you know, whatever they're
<v Speaker 2>working on, I really want to take some time to
<v Speaker 2>ask him about Angel's Egg because it really does seem
<v Speaker 2>in terms of tone and just like visual idea and
<v Speaker 2>like just quietness and strangeness, it just really seems like
<v Speaker 2>it was like a direct line to what Dark Souls became.
<v Speaker 2>So it's like all that to say is like if
<v Speaker 2>this blood Borne movie has even like a a fruit
<v Speaker 2>seltzer like passing taste of Angel's Egg, Like I think
<v Speaker 2>that would be really cool, and I also think that
<v Speaker 2>maybe people would be a little frustrated by it, Like
<v Speaker 2>I would love for it to be that. I would
<v Speaker 2>love for it to be Angel's Egg where you walk
<v Speaker 2>out of the theater and you're like, what happened? Like
<v Speaker 2>what was that? I have no idea what just happened,
<v Speaker 2>but YEA, damn it, it was beautiful. You know.
<v Speaker 1>I'm also looking at some of these one of these
<v Speaker 1>scenes in the trailer it's the four K Restoration official trailer. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and it looks like the scene against the General and
<v Speaker 1>seki Ro in the flower field with like all the
<v Speaker 1>feathers flying everywhere.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, the characters.
<v Speaker 1>One of the protagonists, the little Girl, looks like the
<v Speaker 1>Revenant from elden Ring Night Rain.
<v Speaker 2>She also looks like Diana from Pragmatta. She's got like
<v Speaker 2>the big hair and no and no shoes, which, by
<v Speaker 2>the way, they explain why she's not wearing shoes and
<v Speaker 2>Pragmata if you guys were curious about it. Oh, that
<v Speaker 2>makes it okay. Yeah, she she she gets she charges.
<v Speaker 2>There's there's currents running through the ground. So that's how
<v Speaker 2>she recharges. Is her feet have to touch the floor obviously,
<v Speaker 2>Oh obviously, But then you can unlock an outfit where
<v Speaker 2>she has shoes. So I don't know what's going on there,
<v Speaker 2>but uh yeah, I kind of I went off on
<v Speaker 2>a tangine here, but yeah, look up the trail there
<v Speaker 2>for Angel's Egg and like and just like I that's
<v Speaker 2>what that's what I And they haven't said it's going
<v Speaker 2>to be two D. I imagine it's going to be
<v Speaker 2>sort of a three D film, like, but maybe the
<v Speaker 2>look kind of like that Mosquito Coast style where it's
<v Speaker 2>kind of it's a Mosquito coast. It's just called Mosquito
<v Speaker 2>the death Stranding game where it's like they are three
<v Speaker 2>D models that they've animated, but it has a two
<v Speaker 2>D sort of look to it. And yet they have
<v Speaker 2>not announced director or time line or anything like that.
<v Speaker 2>Just like we know Jack Septica is involved, Sony is involved,
<v Speaker 2>and Lyricals involved. They I don't think. I don't think
<v Speaker 2>from Software it's even mentioned in the press release. I
<v Speaker 2>don't think.
<v Speaker 1>I don't really.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, weird, yeah, because I guess Sony owns the Bloodborne IP.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Yeah, and they've kind of a kind of stayed
<v Speaker 1>away from it due to or the rumors say that,
<v Speaker 1>because they've kind of been honoring Miyazaki's wishes, like yeah, it's.
<v Speaker 2>It's precious, you know, like they don't want to exploit
<v Speaker 2>it in a way. But I would I would think
<v Speaker 2>I would think that they wouldn't, Like, it's not they're
<v Speaker 2>going on I wouldn't. They're not going behind their back
<v Speaker 2>or anything like that. I don't think that's what happened.
<v Speaker 2>And I think maybe I would think maybe from might
<v Speaker 2>have been like, uh, sure, you guys can do that
<v Speaker 2>if you want. It's it's it's not a video game,
<v Speaker 2>so maybe we're not as interested in helping, but I
<v Speaker 2>would I would love for them to be involved and
<v Speaker 2>have feedback.
<v Speaker 3>And then in the I mean there's also an Elder
<v Speaker 3>Ring movie and the Securo anime.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, great question in any of the Yeah, the second
<v Speaker 2>anime looks cool, you know, like.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it does it does?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, and an Elderbring. I believe it's shooting right now.
<v Speaker 2>There's like people are like sharing like photos of potential
<v Speaker 2>sets and stuff like that. So but yeah, I don't
<v Speaker 2>I'm optimistic. I want to see it in the sense
<v Speaker 2>that I want to see what it looks like in
<v Speaker 2>trailer form. I never beat Bloodborne. Bloodborne is not a
<v Speaker 2>from game that really pulled me in a big way,
<v Speaker 2>which I know is blasphemy. I know it's a lot
<v Speaker 2>of people's favorite, so I would like, I said, I
<v Speaker 2>would like a sort of more, you know, yeah, like
<v Speaker 2>like we're gonna like, let's let's see this as a
<v Speaker 2>narrative story because I am curious what that looks like.
<v Speaker 2>You know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the world of Bloodborn is fascinating. I do really
<v Speaker 1>like the lore in the game. I very much enjoyed
<v Speaker 1>that game. It was the one that really pulled me
<v Speaker 1>in for the first time into like the Soul's World. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and now I really like those games. But well, cool, well, Kyle,
<v Speaker 1>before we wrap up and get out of here, I
<v Speaker 1>do want to hear about your regret. Kyle's regret. It's
<v Speaker 1>one of my.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean I I is regret too strong a word.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know. If I really regretted it, I would
<v Speaker 2>have returned to the PS five pro at this point.
<v Speaker 3>But like, it's it's an appreciating asset. I think that's
<v Speaker 3>the best part. You can sell it for more than
<v Speaker 3>you bought.
<v Speaker 2>It, that's right.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, you can write that off on your taxes.
<v Speaker 2>I do currently I have my old PS five listed
<v Speaker 2>on eBay. Let's see how that thing, how far that
<v Speaker 2>thing climbs. But yeah, I mean I I like I
<v Speaker 2>wanted to talk about because Marcus talked about it last
<v Speaker 2>week and we were completely in the same boat is
<v Speaker 2>like where we were like I don't think I need
<v Speaker 2>this thing, But when they announced the prices going up,
<v Speaker 2>I was kind of like, well, I don't know. I
<v Speaker 2>guess I do want to have the best PlayStation five,
<v Speaker 2>if that makes sense, Like, like.
<v Speaker 1>Because like I have the main thing you play on, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, well now it is because I've dropped all
<v Speaker 2>this money on this thing. But like I don't love
<v Speaker 2>the PlayStation five controller, Like it's not my favorite controller.
<v Speaker 2>I actually find it kind of hurts my hands over
<v Speaker 2>the long term. But yeah, I I I am a
<v Speaker 2>sucker for like let me get the newest thing for
<v Speaker 2>when it comes to video game consoles, I'm really bad
<v Speaker 2>about that, you know. Like I bought the New three
<v Speaker 2>DS the day came out, you know, and man I
<v Speaker 2>lost seconds on that Smash Brothers three d sloading time
<v Speaker 2>that a game that I wasn't playing anymore.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we'll talk about an appreciating asset. New three DSXL
<v Speaker 1>Are those like valuable now or three the New three
<v Speaker 1>das says, yes, If you ever decide to sell that thing,
<v Speaker 1>please talk to me.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, I will never sell it because it's like
<v Speaker 2>it's got all my it's got all my games on it, right,
<v Speaker 2>Like it's that's the thing, like I want to have
<v Speaker 2>like the best version of a thing for the long term,
<v Speaker 2>right because like I still.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but you don't necessarily have a bunch of those
<v Speaker 1>things you're kind of like replacing you're replacing the old
<v Speaker 1>version as you go.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. Yeah, Like because like I know some people have said,
<v Speaker 2>like which I totally understand. They're like, well, the PlayStation
<v Speaker 2>six might be like we're talking like a year or two,
<v Speaker 2>you know. So it's like if I don't want to
<v Speaker 2>invest in a pro, if I'm gonna get if I
<v Speaker 2>want a p S six in like a year, which
<v Speaker 2>that totally makes sense, but like I do want to
<v Speaker 2>have the PS five Pro on the shelf for the
<v Speaker 2>rest of my life, if that makes sense. Do you guys?
<v Speaker 2>Do you guys get get what I'm saying, Like, if
<v Speaker 2>I ever want to, I've been in your house.
<v Speaker 1>Nice you have nice display cases. Yeah, Like I want
<v Speaker 1>your game stuff.
<v Speaker 2>And because I and I do play these things, like
<v Speaker 2>I still will pull out the WU and it's like
<v Speaker 2>I try to keep the hard drives loaded up and
<v Speaker 2>stuff because I just want to have access to those things.
<v Speaker 2>So in like ten years, it's like I want to
<v Speaker 2>play the PlayStation five. I want to have like whatever
<v Speaker 2>the best version that was. Now. Like that being said,
<v Speaker 2>like this was an instance where like when they announced
<v Speaker 2>that thing and like they showed it and all that stuff,
<v Speaker 2>I was like, I am not like even slightly interested
<v Speaker 2>in this, Like there's the things that they're showing me
<v Speaker 2>are like not like selling me on this thing at
<v Speaker 2>all in the slightest and I like, for the first
<v Speaker 2>time in my life, I well, maybe not the first
<v Speaker 2>time my life. I I there was a time in
<v Speaker 2>my life where I didn't have the disposal income I
<v Speaker 2>could waste on video games, but like I just really
<v Speaker 2>didn't feel the need to get it. And and when
<v Speaker 2>they the price hig happened, I was like, eh, you know,
<v Speaker 2>I guess you know it's time and and then like
<v Speaker 2>I I bought it without even understanding. I didn't realize
<v Speaker 2>it didn't have a disk drive, which was just like
<v Speaker 2>I felt like just I don't and I don't own
<v Speaker 2>very many disc PlayStation five games. But it was funny,
<v Speaker 2>like I booted it, I plugged it all up, and
<v Speaker 2>I was like Google, like, you know, we're the best
<v Speaker 2>games to show this thing off, and like on the
<v Speaker 2>list was like Resumeal two and I was like, oh great,
<v Speaker 2>and I was like I was like, oh, that's uh,
<v Speaker 2>that's like oh no, I'm sorry, Resumeal four remake and
<v Speaker 2>I was like, oh, that's that's one of the ones
<v Speaker 2>I bought on disc because I didn't get a code
<v Speaker 2>for more. So it's like, oh, I'm gonna buy the
<v Speaker 2>disc and then the other one. It was like Ahead
<v Speaker 2>of Sorrows coming out, I was like, oh, let me
<v Speaker 2>go back and revisit Returnal and I was like, damn it,
<v Speaker 2>I have it on.
<v Speaker 1>A disc, So you gotta buy the like USB I patchable.
<v Speaker 2>Probably they're like way overpriced at this point. But and
<v Speaker 2>and and so, like Marcus said that he didn't really
<v Speaker 2>have like a TV that I could take full advantage
<v Speaker 2>of it, you know, And but I do and I
<v Speaker 2>and I plugged it into like my nice like four K,
<v Speaker 2>like you know, can do a one hundred and twenty
<v Speaker 2>frame rate and stuff like that, and like I really
<v Speaker 2>can't tell like the games that like the Yota, I
<v Speaker 2>sort of like cycled through all the settings of like
<v Speaker 2>putting it on the lowest and the highest, and I
<v Speaker 2>could see like a little that was like the closest
<v Speaker 2>I got to being like, okay, I can see things
<v Speaker 2>look a little crisper while maintaining a high frame rate.
<v Speaker 2>But man, that game runs so well already that it
<v Speaker 2>just was like if the best I've got is, like
<v Speaker 2>I think I can tell the difference with Ghosts of Yota,
<v Speaker 2>a game that I thought ran flawlessly on my standard
<v Speaker 2>PS five was it just was like a little bit
<v Speaker 2>of like what am I doing here? Man?
<v Speaker 1>Like yeah, the four God.
<v Speaker 3>I definitely felt the strain on some of the later
<v Speaker 3>games where I was like, I kind of wish I
<v Speaker 3>had a PRO because also my PS four would get
<v Speaker 3>so loud. I've mentioned before when I was playing like
<v Speaker 3>God of War twenty eighteen, PS four would sound like
<v Speaker 3>a jet engine, and I was glad to honestly, I
<v Speaker 3>got a PS five in part because like I was like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>finally I can play all these PS four games and
<v Speaker 3>it won't be so loud and hot in my bedroom.
<v Speaker 2>But the PS five I've never I have never.
<v Speaker 3>Had a play experience where I'm like this is letting
<v Speaker 3>me down or I'm missing out on something because I
<v Speaker 3>don't have the PRO, Like it's just there's not I
<v Speaker 3>think to you, you got home and unboxed it and
<v Speaker 3>you're like, oh, I didn't like unlock anything that they
<v Speaker 3>didn't already have access to.
<v Speaker 2>The PS four pro is a good example because that
<v Speaker 2>is one where like I could tell because that was
<v Speaker 2>like when frame rates started mattering. I remember the Shadow
<v Speaker 2>of the Clossus remake, like playing that at a higher
<v Speaker 2>frame rate on PS four PRO. I was like, okay,
<v Speaker 2>like this is this makes a difference. I can tell
<v Speaker 2>the difference, but I do. I do like that it's
<v Speaker 2>a smaller system. It is like like structurally smaller. I've
<v Speaker 2>always hated the design and like weight of the PlayStation
<v Speaker 2>five because I don't know if you guys do this,
<v Speaker 2>but I actually moved my console around the house a lot,
<v Speaker 2>you know, like that, yeah, yeah, and so I always
<v Speaker 2>that thing drives me crazy. So I like that the
<v Speaker 2>Pro is smaller. And like, like I was saying, I
<v Speaker 2>don't like regrets too strong a word, like I'm not
<v Speaker 2>I'm not going to return it or sell it or anything,
<v Speaker 2>like I'm glad I have the Pro for the long term,
<v Speaker 2>and like I will elect to play games on PlayStation
<v Speaker 2>five first now as opposed to the series X or
<v Speaker 2>even PC frankly, so like I'm glad, I'm glad for that.
<v Speaker 2>I'm glad that like that decision's made for me at
<v Speaker 2>this point now, you know, or in the past. I
<v Speaker 2>be like, I don't know, I guess maybe I wanted
<v Speaker 2>on this or you know I have, you know, the
<v Speaker 2>the cloud function. The cloud save functions on the Xbox
<v Speaker 2>are a little friendlier than the PlayStation, so maybe I
<v Speaker 2>go that way. You know, oh this runs on Steam Deck. Okay,
<v Speaker 2>I'll get it for PC. You know that kind of thing. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>but it's just yeah, it was it is the the
<v Speaker 2>the man I'd have to think back through like, you know,
<v Speaker 2>the versions of it that have existed, you know, like
<v Speaker 2>the Xbox one X and the PlayStation four Pro and
<v Speaker 2>the three DS to New three DS. But like this
<v Speaker 2>has to be the most sort of like the smallest,
<v Speaker 2>tiniest upgrade. I think if I had to sort of
<v Speaker 2>like I'm not I'm not talking like PlayStation two to
<v Speaker 2>PlayStation three, right, like that's that's a different game. But
<v Speaker 2>like inside of the generations, I it's it is. It
<v Speaker 2>does not get a recommendation for me.
<v Speaker 1>Frankly, I I would be curious to be played a
<v Speaker 1>first person shooter on it, because that's where I noticed, Oh,
<v Speaker 1>the the biggest difference between like a sixty hertz and
<v Speaker 1>a one hundred and forty four hertz when I play
<v Speaker 1>like third person or excuse me, games that aren't as
<v Speaker 1>as fast moving, I tend to not really notice it
<v Speaker 1>as much, but there. I remember one time I was
<v Speaker 1>playing Valorant a lot and I had like updated my
<v Speaker 1>computer and my my display settings got reset on my
<v Speaker 1>monitors for some reason through like the video wasn't it
<v Speaker 1>was only feeding that a sixty hertz signal instead of
<v Speaker 1>one hundred and forty four. And I found out, and
<v Speaker 1>this is like two weeks. I was like, oh, is
<v Speaker 1>that why it's been feeling weird? And I turned it
<v Speaker 1>on and I switched it from sixty hurts to one
<v Speaker 1>hundred and forty four herts, and I was like night
<v Speaker 1>and day. I was like, oh my god. I was like,
<v Speaker 1>but that was like a first very fast paced, you
<v Speaker 1>know a lot of like precise game, precise, very quick,
<v Speaker 1>you know, pivots and stuff with your camera. And I
<v Speaker 1>noticed it in that game. But when I play a
<v Speaker 1>different game, not so much.
<v Speaker 2>I that's it's it, because like I actually haven't played
<v Speaker 2>any sort of fast paced, competitive, competitive first person shooters.
<v Speaker 2>But I did run into another game because Cyberpunk got
<v Speaker 2>like the big uh yeah recently, And I played Cyberpunk
<v Speaker 2>on Series X like when it came out, and shockingly
<v Speaker 2>actually didn't have that many problems with it. I was
<v Speaker 2>like a very rare player apparently, where like on launch
<v Speaker 2>day on the series X, Cyberpunk was like pretty solid,
<v Speaker 2>Like I put in a good seven or eighty hours
<v Speaker 2>on that version and then I played aid the expansion
<v Speaker 2>that came out. Was that a year or two ago now? Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>And I was like, okay, you know, and you know
<v Speaker 2>it's cool, like I you can transfer your save between platforms.
<v Speaker 2>I have Cyberpunk on my switch too, and I booted
<v Speaker 2>it up there and pulled in my save, and I.
<v Speaker 1>Do love that CD Project Red does that.
<v Speaker 2>I love that. Yeah, please, that's eighties two as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah it does that. And uh but I was I
<v Speaker 2>was like, okay, let me, I'll download Cyberpunk. It's like
<v Speaker 2>part of like the PlayStation plus, you know, I can
<v Speaker 2>just like get it that way and then I can
<v Speaker 2>bring my save over and I I got it all downloaded,
<v Speaker 2>and I was like, Okay, this is like supposed to
<v Speaker 2>be like this will show off the pro it's first
<v Speaker 2>person which I haven't really done here. But it wouldn't
<v Speaker 2>let me like access the PlayStation version of the game
<v Speaker 2>because I didn't own the expansion on PlayStation. I only
<v Speaker 2>own it on Xbox and switch to But because and so,
<v Speaker 2>what I was like, I just wanted to tell the game.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, well, you know, I don't really like care, like,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not going to go into that part of the city,
<v Speaker 2>like you can just like let me in. And it
<v Speaker 2>was like, Nah, not bro, you can't come in. Man,
<v Speaker 2>you gotta you got to buy that if you want.
<v Speaker 2>If you want to access you're save on the PlayStation,
<v Speaker 2>you got it. You got to buy the expansion. So so,
<v Speaker 2>wh Who's to say what cyberpunk looks like on the
<v Speaker 2>PS five Pro. There's just simply no way of knowing.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I have you built up like a Doom game.
<v Speaker 2>Doom might be good. Yeah, like an action first person shooter,
<v Speaker 2>which is just not like, as much as there are
<v Speaker 2>plenty of first person shooters I love and have played,
<v Speaker 2>it's just not my go to genre. You know, I'm
<v Speaker 2>usually playing later.
<v Speaker 1>It's also dawning on me. You I wonder if you
<v Speaker 1>wouldn't feel it as much or see it as much
<v Speaker 1>with like a controller versus a mouse and keyboard, because
<v Speaker 1>I find that when I'm playing a mouse and keyboard,
<v Speaker 1>I'm like making much quicker turns and stuff where I
<v Speaker 1>really feel it yeah, whereas I feel like you're it's
<v Speaker 1>usually a little slower on a controller to like turn
<v Speaker 1>and stuff, So I wonder if it would if it
<v Speaker 1>would feel the same. But but I'm kind of glad.
<v Speaker 2>I'm kind of glad I have it now. But like
<v Speaker 2>I'm sure in the long.
<v Speaker 1>Run, you'll you'll you'll be glad to have it. Although
<v Speaker 1>I do think you should look for one of the
<v Speaker 1>disk drives the attachable district.
<v Speaker 2>They're like a long term on eBay, it was like
<v Speaker 2>one hundred and twenty. I think I saw a few.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, rough, It's it's hard to know with those things,
<v Speaker 1>like is it gonna depreciate over time, Like once the
<v Speaker 1>PS six comes out, are those gonna go or is
<v Speaker 1>it just gonna go up? You know what I mean?
<v Speaker 1>Probably it's always a dice roll, yeah, because.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's it's the stuff that's just like ubiquitous and
<v Speaker 2>like everyone just has like six of them and they're
<v Speaker 2>you know, guitar controllers or something that just kind.
<v Speaker 1>Of that's the stuff that goes to you. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, where like discribes, I don't know, they made like
<v Speaker 2>twenty of them. Yeah, that's all true. You know, I
<v Speaker 2>still want one though, like, the vast, vast majority of
<v Speaker 2>my library is digital, as is the case for most
<v Speaker 2>of us, especially because we get a lot of codes
<v Speaker 2>for work and stuff like that. Yeah, but it's available
<v Speaker 2>on disc. I'm I'm I'm trying to get a disc.
<v Speaker 1>Generally, you might be able to reach out to Sony
<v Speaker 1>and be like, hey, I cover your games a lot
<v Speaker 1>for work. Is there any way you have a disk
<v Speaker 1>drive this thing?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, buy it, give me, give me, give.
<v Speaker 1>Me a listing link to buy the Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's a bummer good Yeah, circle it back a lot.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, FRANKMND is great. Well, I think that's going to
