Now Here's Matt Jones walk back. 00:01:06 Speaker 4: I remember two Kentucky Sports Radio eight F I've nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. A couple fellas here came from Pikeville. I was just telling him, Uh, Pikeville. I love Pikeville, Love Pike County. They'd be good to poll on this next question, Yes, they What did you think of the thing with Reed Shepherd so five nine twenty two eighty seven. If you didn't see it before the game, Reid is at the Rockets games and the players like walk in on like a red carpet. He walked in in an Arkansas T shirt and Kentucky shorts the day of the game. This is before the game, right, Yeah. When the game is over and Arkansas wins, they put out the picture and it says Arkansas on top, which is a pretty great caption and also not what you want to see if you're a Kentucky pick. When I saw I thought it had to be Ai. I was like, there's no way a kid from London, Kentucky whose dad played here and whose mom played here is walking in an Arkansas shirt. I get it's his coach, but you know what so I mean, I don't remember when we played Louisville. Do you remember Kentucky Ricks players wearing a Louisville shirt in Kentucky shorts? Jeff wear that also Marcus, Jeff's roommate. But again, I don't buy this. I mean it rereads a grown up. I'm sure he didn't call Jeff and say should I wear that? Can I wear this? 00:02:30 Speaker 2: Or not? 00:02:30 Speaker 4: He reads a grown up. He can do what he wants. But you know, I don't remember any of Rick's guys wearing Louisville shirts, you know, Kentucky shorts, not not that I remember. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't, So I was pretty bummed about it. I'm not gonna lie to you. 00:02:50 Speaker 2: You know, he's a kid. 00:02:51 Speaker 4: Everybody gets to make mistakes, so yes they do, but that one was odd to me. He was interviewed after the game and he said, I thought it. I thought everybody would just think it's funny. Well maybe if we'd won, but when. 00:03:06 Speaker 2: We lose, I don't know if it's as funny to people. 00:03:10 Speaker 4: Then after the game, some of those guys that we were all on the same team, ty Ty Washington, Davy and Mintz and Jacob Topping seemed like they were trash talking a little bit. Oddly, that one didn't bother me as much. Those kids had a weird experience here where you know, we lost to Saint Peter's and and I think they all like it here. I think that those were mistakes too, But you know what, words kind of go away, pictures stay. I'm just really surprised by Reid. I'm not saying it's like gonna affect my judgment. I'm just really surprised he did that. And if he really didn't think this would be the reaction, I want to be like, how did you not think this would be. 00:03:53 Speaker 2: The re Of course this is the reaction. 00:03:55 Speaker 5: He didn't do himself any favors. And because it really upset a lot of people. And there is a something we've talked about before. There's something about seeing it. You know, you can read it online tweets or something, it's different, but you see it. That visual image of Reid wearing an Arkansas shirt kind of spunched us right in the gut. I think a little bit. 00:04:12 Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it. 00:04:13 Speaker 6: I mean, you can just wear your car hurt, or you wear even a Kentucky T shirt. Arkansas shorts feels different. 00:04:20 Speaker 2: Maybe that shouldn't feel different, but that feels feel different. And I texted you immediately after the game. 00:04:25 Speaker 6: I always I'm one of the last people leave Rapparina. 00:04:27 Speaker 2: I linger for the Pope Show. 00:04:28 Speaker 6: I talked to fans in the crowd. Not one person wanted to talk about the basketball game that ended twenty minutes before I was talking to them. It was all read read read Reid can't come back. I was shocked by other even though I thought it was a bad move, the fan base was very, very very. 00:04:44 Speaker 2: Much because he's from here. Huh. 00:04:46 Speaker 4: It's like he's from here. I get Okay, So take like ty ty Washington when he tweets out after the game, came into your trap, trap. 00:04:56 Speaker 2: Took over your trap. He always said that when they won here. But is it trap? Yo trap? 00:05:02 Speaker 4: I also don't know why ty Tye did that either, and he but you know what ty Tight is from what Phoenix? 00:05:08 Speaker 2: Okay, So he's here for a year. 00:05:10 Speaker 4: And part of the trade off with Cow was you're gonna get guys who they're here for Cow, they're not here for Kentucky. 00:05:16 Speaker 2: Like that's part of the Cow tradeoff. 00:05:18 Speaker 4: And it worked for many years and a lot of those guys then when they're here, they kind of fall in. 00:05:22 Speaker 2: Love with it. 00:05:23 Speaker 4: But then he was here, got hurt and we lost to Saint Peter's, and I'm not sure maybe he fell in his love as everybody else with the way that. But Reed Shepherd grew up here, his dad played here, his mom played here, he played here. Our biggest complaint last year was they didn't blame enough. That was our biggest complaint. And to see that guy do it. 00:05:45 Speaker 5: I think it's just like what we've got to read Shepherd Jersey hanging here in the restaurant. He's the only current player. Little one next to him would be well John Wall, Like there's nobody between John Wall and Reed Shepherd. That's how much he was beloved in this state. And so him kind of wearing that Arkansas shirt almost felt like, you'd mean a little bit of a trader. 00:06:03 Speaker 6: I felt like if fans feel like they cheered him through high school to get him to UK, that might not be the case. But you know, fans really really really put a lot of pressure on call in Kentucky to get Reid. I mean they did everything but run out there and put him in the games themselves. Last year let's add the nil Era people were very good to read Shepherd polutarily, he had that very expensive camp after the year where a bunch of fans attended. I just couldn't believe that it wouldn't enter his mind that this is a bad idea. Like, what did Reid get out of that? 00:06:33 Speaker 2: Nothing? Like you didn't have to do that. 00:06:34 Speaker 4: I mean, Arkansas fans are not They're not making him a fan. Like even if he had just worn a coach cow shirt in Kentucky like it was Arkansas, but it was Arkansas. Shannon, you're much more like straightforward than most of us. 00:06:51 Speaker 2: What did you think of that? 00:06:53 Speaker 7: Exactly what you just said. I said that on the pre show. 00:06:55 Speaker 3: If he had come out with like some sort of John Caliperry's shirt and Kentucky shorts, I would be fine with that. But you don't need to put on the Arkansas You have no affiliation to Arkansas. 00:07:04 Speaker 7: You're a Kentucky guy, So what are you doing. I thought it was a bad look. 00:07:08 Speaker 5: I thought maybe he lost a bet with somebody on the team and like that's why he had to wear it. 00:07:12 Speaker 4: But he no, he said he wanted to show appreciation to his coach, and he thought it would be funny. 00:07:17 Speaker 3: So if Reed Shepherd comes back to Rupper Ina, are we booing him now? 00:07:21 Speaker 4: I don't think he's I don't think he's gonna get booed, but I do think it. I think people were like, really bumped. 00:07:27 Speaker 7: They're not gonna forget that. They won't forget that. 00:07:30 Speaker 2: It will they It will stick with people, it will. 00:07:32 Speaker 4: It's not gonna make him hate him, but it's gonna stick with people will remember that. Like, you know, if we if we had won, I think people would forget it. But because we lost, I think people will remember that. 00:07:48 Speaker 2: I really do. 00:07:49 Speaker 6: Just as I was surprised by him doing it, I was surprised by how nasty some of the reaction was too. Maybe that was late at night, you're upset about Arkansas. But he got some listen, pretty bad stuff online that you shouldn't see. 00:07:59 Speaker 4: When I was watching that women's game yesterday, I had one person come up to me and say because I was I was in a cardinal part of town, right, I had one person come up to me and say hi. 00:08:12 Speaker 2: And it was this lady. 00:08:13 Speaker 4: She was probably, you know, seventy five eighty years old, and she came up looked at me and she said, I love your show. Listen to it every bad day. Shout out to that woman. And she goes, I can't believe Read Shepherd. That was her one real that was the one thing she said to me yesterday. I just don't know that they realized. 00:08:34 Speaker 2: You know, so what. 00:08:35 Speaker 5: About the people in the thirteenth region. It probably hurt them the most down there. 00:08:39 Speaker 2: Well, we had a caller in the postgame show from Harlan and he was like. 00:08:42 Speaker 4: What, well, you know, I mean that would be like Admire, It'd be like Richie doing it. 00:08:49 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Richie didn't walk. 00:08:51 Speaker 4: Out with a with a Louisville shirt on. He didn't when we played, you know. And even Rex, Rex who wanted to go to Louisville right and who gets yelled at by the fan bat, I've never seen him in a Louisville shirt since he went to UK Or. 00:09:11 Speaker 2: I just I'm shocked and doing it. 00:09:14 Speaker 6: That red carpet they have that is a photo opportunity for those players. They know there's media everywhere. I mean, if you want to throw it onto the locker room or something, that's different. Even the tweets are different. 00:09:23 Speaker 4: Even if we lost and he wore it to the press conference because he lost a bat. 00:09:27 Speaker 2: That's different. He knew what he was walking. 00:09:29 Speaker 6: Towards, and that would be all over the internet. It's why I just couldn't believe he thought that was a good idea. 00:09:33 Speaker 4: Who's up first, Shit, Josh, Josh, go ahead, Josh. 00:09:38 Speaker 8: Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. I think everything you guys are talking about right now kind of falls in line with why Kentucky fans grew weary with the Cal area, where it was all about cal And and I think we see that with Reed Shepherd and all that. And it's what made I think Saturday the most miserable experience that I can remember as a Kentucky fan. We had to sit through the the whole week in the pregame with it being all about cal and then uh. 00:10:12 Speaker 2: Well, then he went in the game. He wins in the game. 00:10:17 Speaker 8: Yeah, he wins in a game where we shoot forty four percent from three, forty eight percent overall, out rebound them by offensive boards by five. You think we win that game? 00:10:29 Speaker 2: You do? You do? You just need those numbers? And and he. 00:10:33 Speaker 4: Wins doing everything we wished he had done for the last few years. That he wouldn't do, which is shoot, play a fishing offense, make halftime adjustments, you know, put the right lineups in. 00:10:44 Speaker 2: You know, he played his starters. I appreciate the call. 00:10:46 Speaker 4: He played his starters thirty seven thirty eight minutes right like, He's just like, we're going these the guys are good, We're going. 00:10:52 Speaker 2: We're going with and they and it worked. Yeah. 00:10:56 Speaker 5: And then the three Kentucky guys who somebody just sent me a message were five points against Oakland, had fifty two points against us. 00:11:04 Speaker 2: That was DJ's best game. Ye see the DS and listen. I like DJ. 00:11:09 Speaker 4: I'm not anti DJ, but DJ to a lot of UK fans, I think I think people need to understand what DJ represents. To a lot of UK fans, DJ seems like a great kid. So I'm and I'm pulling. I pull for all three of those guys to have great games in Arkansas lose. 00:11:27 Speaker 2: That's what I pull for. 00:11:29 Speaker 4: I like DJ, but to a lot of UK fans, DJ sort of symbolizes Col's obsession with playing the number one guy over the dudes that are good. Right, So Reid and Rob come off the bench so that DJ and Justin Edwards can play that's what Kentucky fans see. 00:11:46 Speaker 2: You agree with Yes, I do agree with that. So then to have him come in and play great, that just drives them even crazier. 00:11:55 Speaker 4: It's like the symbol of the part of cal that we were like, come on, man, and then he wins with it. 00:12:01 Speaker 2: I can. It's just deflating for people. I understand there was. 00:12:04 Speaker 6: A lot of where the hell was that last year in Refearena Saturday that he had games? 00:12:08 Speaker 7: He did, but I mean, but to play that well, I think that. 00:12:11 Speaker 4: Was that was probably his best one, I mean second half or whatever. So I mean eight, Yeah, who's next, Tom? 00:12:19 Speaker 2: Tom? Go ahead, Tom? 00:12:22 Speaker 9: Yeah. After the game, you know, Carol went through the handshake line, you know. Yes, by the time he got through there, he was all the way almost down to the eruption zone under that basket. And then he turned around and of course he had security around he and literally ran. 00:12:41 Speaker 2: Yeah, he's spread it out. 00:12:42 Speaker 9: In the tunnel. 00:12:44 Speaker 8: What was up? 00:12:45 Speaker 10: You know? 00:12:45 Speaker 1: What was up with? 00:12:46 Speaker 4: I think they were really worried. And when I say they, I don't know if it's UK or if it. 00:12:51 Speaker 2: Was col but they were really worried about something happened. Like there were more security there than I've ever seen. 00:13:02 Speaker 7: Did you grab his arm and run with him? 00:13:05 Speaker 11: Yeah? 00:13:07 Speaker 4: When when the speaker the House was there, the leader of the Senate was there. I mean I've been there whenever, and like they didn't have the security around him. 00:13:15 Speaker 2: Cow did what was it? They didn't sell can what? Uh? 00:13:21 Speaker 6: They always have bottled water, they sell bottles, but at that game, they were pouring water into plastic cups. You couldn't get a lid. And the workers said cali Perry requested it. 00:13:29 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the worker said cal Perry requested, no bottles in the no bottles in the built. 00:13:34 Speaker 6: Nobody was gonna throw a bottle at John caliper. 00:13:37 Speaker 2: And You're right, they grabbed him. 00:13:39 Speaker 4: It looked to me like they treated him like they used to Michael Jackson, where like some dude would cover his head and then they would run out like they ran out of there. 00:13:50 Speaker 2: You know, I don't know what they thought we were. 00:13:53 Speaker 5: I mean, I know he had to get to the interview with the list of langing in the tunnel, but but even just walk, a brisk walk could have got that there. 00:13:59 Speaker 7: Even in the interview in the tunnel. 00:14:01 Speaker 3: I mean a lot of times they do those interviews out there on the floor and if they were. 00:14:04 Speaker 4: Like the floor, yeah, I mean it's not to his credit when I don't know what was happening, But some of the play Arkansas players were John with some of the fans. 00:14:14 Speaker 2: He told them to get like he was. 00:14:16 Speaker 4: I thought, pretty classy in the post game, but there was a sense of like no plastic bottles. 00:14:23 Speaker 2: I mean there were more people with ear pieces in there. I'm not kidding you. 00:14:27 Speaker 4: And it was like one guy looked at me and goes, may I help you? And I was like, may I help you? What are you talking about? 00:14:33 Speaker 2: Where I'm just standing here you with. 00:14:36 Speaker 6: I know it was gonna be a hostle crowd of booing, but I don't think anybody would throw a bottle or anything that crazy that they were prepared for. And I hate that he thought that could even be the case. 00:14:44 Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was odd. It was an odd thing. 00:14:47 Speaker 4: Hey, BBN, if you're exercising more, being healthier and saving money, they might be a place that you need to actually feel better as well. Court Physical Therapy has been Kentucky and as leader in physical therapy for more than thirty years. 00:14:58 Speaker 2: Whether you're a. 00:14:59 Speaker 4: Chronic resolution or someone is serious about making a lifestyle change for better health. That's KSR. 00:15:18 Speaker 2: Welcome back. 00:15:20 Speaker 4: It is tell you Sports Radio. If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. Ryan says Matt Reid's deals probably in support of his former teammates as much as as it is cow, it's nothing. Well, he didn't say that, first of all. I mean he was asked after the game, why'd you do it? And he said cow, So if it was for his teammates, I feel like he would have said that, so, you know. 00:15:40 Speaker 2: But secondly, all right, then wear a shirt that says a do z in way right, I'm okay with that. 00:15:49 Speaker 4: She can't wear I mean, you can't wear an Arkansas shirt like Again, do I think it's the end of the world. 00:15:53 Speaker 2: No. Do I think people should all hate him? 00:15:56 Speaker 4: No? 00:15:56 Speaker 2: But do I think that was a smart move? No, I don't. I don't think it was a smart move at all. 00:16:02 Speaker 4: I mean, people are allowed to do whatever they want, But then there's other people. 00:16:05 Speaker 2: It's like people are allowed to judge this right. 00:16:10 Speaker 4: There's like when you do something, you're allowed to do it, but people are allowed allowed to judge. It's like when people say something really rude or offensive and they're like, well, he's allowed to say it, yeah, and I'm allowed to to say something back to it. And I feel like that's what this is not. You know, this wasn't offensive, but it's like kind of. 00:16:31 Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm allowed to have defend that. I don't really like it, and I like that look that he had. 00:16:35 Speaker 2: I agree with what Drew said. 00:16:36 Speaker 5: What if you just had a Kentucky shirt on and Arkansas shorts, I think I would have felt completely different about it. 00:16:41 Speaker 4: I would have felt different. I still wouldn't have liked it. There's no reason to have that slobburn hog on your on your I mean. 00:16:47 Speaker 6: Of all the options, where all UK where no Arkansas. If you got to have Arkansas, find a way to just work it in a little bit. He did the worst option. 00:16:56 Speaker 4: He did do the worst option eight five nine two eight h twenty two eighty seven Real quick two former Cats gott in huge trades over the weekend. Anthony Davis gets traded to Dallas, dearon Fox gets traded to San Antonio. 00:17:09 Speaker 2: First, dearon Fox, Like, that's great. Now it's him and Wimby. 00:17:13 Speaker 4: Guy's gonna have a chance to be like in our lives for the next six or eight years. Like he's gone from maybe the most obscure place to play to now in two or three years he will be playing for. 00:17:24 Speaker 6: Championships and that duo is gonna be awesome. I jump from NBA team to NBA team based on Kentucky players. I'm a Spurs guy. Now that is gonna be so fun to watch. And I'm glad he got out of Sacramento, my old favorite team, because that's just a franchise that's going nowhere and he's too good wasting his good years there. I'm glad he got to a market and the team where he can win. 00:17:43 Speaker 5: Yeah, he's become a superstar, a superstar, so he deserves the right to play for a championship. 00:17:48 Speaker 2: I feel like, and. 00:17:48 Speaker 4: Then I feel a little bad for Anthony Davis because people are like, well, why would they trade Luca to the Lakers? 00:17:54 Speaker 2: And I actually, the way I. 00:17:57 Speaker 4: See it is they must really hate Luca, like they must because they must they must think like, we can't deal. 00:18:05 Speaker 2: With this dude, because there's no other reason to do it. 00:18:07 Speaker 4: But people are acting like Anthony Davis is just like some scrap heap player. I mean, Anthony Davis won a top fifteen or twenty players in league. Not as good as Luca, Okay, but if you think Luca's gonna age poorly and you got to give him three hundred and seventy five million dollars, Anthony Davis probably the best player you're gonna get for him, to be honest with you. So I hate that Anthony Davis is kind of getting thrown in this like he's not great. I mean he's great. It's just you know, he may not be as great as Luca, but he's great. Yeah, this would be a great big three. Like four years ago with Clay there, they still have some hope, and I think they'll kind of rally because you don't. He probably didn't really want to be there, and maybe the three that are there without Luke will turn it into something. I was just glad it happened because it happened the moment Kentucky Arkansas. 00:18:48 Speaker 2: And we were off the news. 00:18:50 Speaker 6: The story was over immediately, So whoever was say GM there must be a UK fan because they jacked the headlines when we didn't want to be the main story. 00:18:58 Speaker 4: We were at the big story for like thirty minutes. Everybody would have been talking about oh why dey bou. 00:19:02 Speaker 6: Ca over Sunday Sports Center would have been all cal UK instead of was. 00:19:06 Speaker 4: They told me right after we lost, I got the text from my producer for my Sunday morning show that said, get ready to talk about a lot of cow tomorrow, just warning you. Then when it came on, we spent ten minutes on it. It was Luca Ad the whole time. I didn't I didn't have to sit there and eat crow nationally. 00:19:20 Speaker 5: Fifty day Dallas, like Drew said, with Clay, Kyrie and Ad like they can make a run now those three guys buy more so than when they had Luca in the short term. 00:19:28 Speaker 4: Yeah, but Anthony Davis is thirty one and Lucas twenty five. But Luca also like I think he eats Nerds gummy clusters for breakfast every day, Like I mean, he's he's not in shape. 00:19:39 Speaker 2: Neither is Jolkic though, and look how good he is. 00:19:41 Speaker 6: So a lot of people shared that clip where at the end of last season, Luca's drinking a beer in the locker room and Michael Finley, the team president. I guess it goes to take out of his hand. Yeah, that resurface. There's maybe some concerns around him there. 00:19:53 Speaker 4: Who's up next, Sarah, Sarah, go ahead, Sarah. 00:19:57 Speaker 12: Yeah. 00:19:58 Speaker 10: Hey, So this is probably gonna be unpopular opinion, but just hear me out. So I'm not talking about the stuff before the game. I'm talking about like during the game. I think that the Kentucky fans that were at Rough kind of failed our team and Mark on Saturday. And what I mean by that was like Eve and Drew earlier made a comment about like, oh, Rough will back up when this happened, And I just think, especially at that type of game, like there should never be waking back up like it should have been like as loud as a Taylor Swift concert the entire time. There should have never been a quiet. 00:20:27 Speaker 2: Moment when you were at Were you at the game? 00:20:30 Speaker 10: I wasn't, no, but I would have gladly taken somebody somebody's ticket who was not doing anything. 00:20:36 Speaker 2: Here's my view about fans cheering. 00:20:38 Speaker 4: You also have to give them something to cheer about, like when you're down sixteen, I mean, how are they supposed to be not like if we give a sixteen oh run or fourteen oh whatever it was, Like. 00:20:48 Speaker 2: How are you supposed to get excited? Like it's also up to the you know, it's a it's a. 00:20:52 Speaker 4: Two way street. It's the players didn't get inspire the fans who then inspire the players more, Like you can't, you can't. 00:21:00 Speaker 10: I think they were just trying hard. You don't think they were playing hard? 00:21:03 Speaker 2: Who good players? 00:21:06 Speaker 10: You don't think they were playing hard? 00:21:07 Speaker 2: Of course they were. 00:21:08 Speaker 4: But I'm saying to you the fans, though, you can't expect someone to just sit. 00:21:12 Speaker 2: And scream for two and a half hours straight hours. 00:21:14 Speaker 4: I mean a lot of those people were there an hour plus before the game, so you know, you gotta have moments. 00:21:20 Speaker 10: I just think you have a responsibility to your team as a fan. So if you're gonna get there an hour before and do all this stuff beforehand, like you have a responsibility of your team to build them up and help them and motivate them. 00:21:30 Speaker 2: I get it. 00:21:31 Speaker 4: But at the same time, I don't know what you're supposed to cheer about on a fourteen to oh run, you know what I mean, like, don't I don't know what the fans are supposed to do. 00:21:41 Speaker 10: Go, yeah, this is everything they've done for us the season, all the joy and excitement, and like everything they've done for us the season, we can't like help them out when they're just feeling defeated. Like, I don't know, I just I don't think we did our part on Saturday, all right. 00:21:54 Speaker 4: I appreciate the call, I mean, I get it, but at the same time, I don't know, I just you know, when they've scored basket after basket after basket, like what are you gonna do? 00:22:03 Speaker 7: I thought that was as loud as I can remember up in years. 00:22:07 Speaker 2: For sure. 00:22:07 Speaker 5: I think the whole first. 00:22:08 Speaker 2: I thought the first half the crowd was insane. 00:22:11 Speaker 5: Yes, the second half, you know, start playing poorly. 00:22:15 Speaker 6: We played poorly, and everybody was so nervous, Like you said, where you could you know, yeah, barely eat your hunt Brother's pizza. 00:22:21 Speaker 2: There's a lot. There was a lot of nerves. 00:22:24 Speaker 4: I mean I was nervous and I wasn't even playing, you know, I didn't even make it to opening. 00:22:28 Speaker 2: Too before I got out of the you know, it's just it's a lot. 00:22:32 Speaker 4: There's only two weeks left to help God's Pantry food bank and get to their goal of a million meals by Valentine's Day million meals. Every time I read this, I donate forty one dollars at God's Pantry dot org slash ksr, and you should too. If you donate forty one dollars, it's two hundred and forty six meals we've raised. I didn't get the update yet, but we've raised a ton of money with this, and you all keep coming through God's Pantry dot org slash ksr. You get frustrated about the game, you just frustrate about life. Go to something productive God's Pantry dot org slash ksr. I suggest forty one, but you can do five dollars and it still can be helpful at God's Pantry. You know what, you're wearing a really tight shirt? What? 00:23:17 Speaker 5: What's going off my muscles? 00:23:18 Speaker 4: Like? What's the rationale? You usually tend to do this when you feel good? Do you feel like things are happening for you? 00:23:24 Speaker 5: Don't tell you like I went for a drive. I felt so bad after the game Saturay night. I still kind of feeling a fu The tight tre makes me feel good about myself. 00:23:30 Speaker 2: Well, I guess that's what matters. We'll take a break, be right back. I'm not sure where to start. 00:23:37 Speaker 7: TJ Smith personal injury attorney. 00:23:40 Speaker 2: Call TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:23:42 Speaker 7: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio. 00:23:45 Speaker 2: I'm feeling and don't dare mean now. This is a good song. 00:23:52 Speaker 5: It is a great song. 00:23:54 Speaker 2: The Avid Brothers did a cover of this in Louisville, like right after he died. 00:23:58 Speaker 4: Really and I haven't I saw on the TikTok and just as a little side note because I needed to be cheered up yesterday I was. 00:24:06 Speaker 2: I was. 00:24:07 Speaker 4: I mean, I wasn't like as depressed as my mom thought I was, but like I was, okay, So you know what I did yesterday? 00:24:13 Speaker 2: And I forgot how much I love this dude. 00:24:16 Speaker 4: Like we always talked about my favorite comedian of all time is norm but there's some other people that. 00:24:21 Speaker 2: You really like. 00:24:23 Speaker 4: And one that I like that i'd forgotten how much I like is Bernie Mack. And I got on a TikTok Bernie Mac train of just watching old Bernie Mack stuff. That dude is was hilarious and like his attitude. He'd just walk on stage and just be like and just sort of look at people. I mean, he famously went to the Apollo, you know where it's, which is where the comedians all would get their start on that Martin Lawrence show, right, and he'd come out and they were notorious for they would just boo you if they didn't like you. And I guess some dude had just gotten on the stage before him and gotten destroyed. And he just walks out and he goes, I ain't scared of you, blah blah blah, and like just kills wearing the ugliest outfit I've ever seen in my life. 00:25:12 Speaker 2: It had his face on his jeans. 00:25:14 Speaker 4: But nevertheless, I watched two and a half hours of Bernie Mack clips on TikTok and that helped cheer. 00:25:20 Speaker 2: Me up a little bit. I love Bernie Mack. 00:25:22 Speaker 6: I can do his whole kings of comedy set just on radio, milking some milk and cookies him downstairs, him downstairs. 00:25:29 Speaker 2: I miss Bernie Mack. He's a legend. 00:25:30 Speaker 6: I might have to go find a TikTok algorithm to get in there too. That young too, didn't he. 00:25:35 Speaker 4: Yes him down. He looked at me like I'm sure, wish I could do the whole thing. I don't think we could do any of it and stay on the radio. Uh but uh eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. 00:25:50 Speaker 2: Who's up next? Oh? 00:25:51 Speaker 4: Wait, bite, hang on one thing for you to that. One person writes me and goes, Matt, what's the text machine? Seven seven two seven seven four five two five four? Do you think we saw the worst of Kentucky Crowns? Not just what she said about during the game, but the booing. Does it represent us going too far? 00:26:09 Speaker 2: No? 00:26:11 Speaker 4: Okay, No, you can disagree whether they should have booted or not. 00:26:15 Speaker 2: I get it. I get there's. 00:26:16 Speaker 4: People that don't think we should. There's people who say be class here. I get it. Like it's sport. My argument is it sports? Like if you know this is not real life. If you saw John Caliperry walking down the street and he was like at the grocery store and you went up to him and boot him. 00:26:32 Speaker 2: That's bad. But this is sports. 00:26:34 Speaker 4: This is the gallery. This is like you're in the Colosseum. It's about that thing. If you want to do it, if you don't, but. 00:26:44 Speaker 2: You stop me. 00:26:44 Speaker 4: The sort of moral proselytizing about whether or not to boo. You can't look at me and say, man, I love when that politician tells that other one off and then tell me we should be classy about it. Sporting event, which matters not at all in the grand scheme of life. So Cala Perry will get One of Cal's best friends came up to me and said, I expect he gets booed. 00:27:14 Speaker 2: I also expect one day he gets a standing ovation and. 00:27:17 Speaker 4: That'll have that all happen. That'll definitely happen. That'll happen, ye, so you know. I No, it wasn't the worst of the fan base. It was and it wasn't even the majority of the fan base. I think that did boo, but it. But both groups of people were allowed to do it without people telling them that they're somehow not a fan for doing it. 00:27:37 Speaker 6: We agree that all week you're booing to create an atmosphere for an opposing team that's coming into ruin your weekend. Cal set himself in that interview with Jimmy Dyke's of course they're gonna boo me. I'm wearing the other team's clothes coming in to beat their team. That's a booing situation, and one day we'll name something after cal. I hope he gets his Tubby celebration and you know everybody cheers him. But that was a basketball game. 00:27:58 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Tubby's another I mean Tubby never got booed. Tubby would have never gotten booed like that here. But he also took him a longer time to get applause than it probably should have, right, and to be brought in here then it probably should have. That's just how it works. Part of the trade off of being here is that we care too much. The reason John Caliperry made ten million dollars is because we care too much. And the reason he gets booed is because we care too much. 00:28:32 Speaker 2: But you know what, that's why we're great. 00:28:35 Speaker 4: There's not another arena in America that would have had that scene on Saturday, which is why it's so stupid Game Day didn't come it' that won't happen again maybe in my life, like, but we produce that and when you come here, that's just part of the trade you nobody's making you do it. You know, people say things like cal gave us thirteen years of his forties. Yes, and we gave him one hundred and fifty million dollars. This isn't like a salt mine that we forced him to work in. 00:29:16 Speaker 5: You know what, ninety five percent of the college teams in America would love to have the passion on a fan base has. That's what makes Kentucky basketball special. We're so passionate about our team. So, yes, you're the opposing coach coming in, you're gonna get booed. We boo Bruce Pearl, we boos Rick Barnes. It doesn't matter who you are, and when you used to coach here, you're gonna get a little extra. I think you should You shouldn't know that coming in. 00:29:36 Speaker 2: I mean Bruce Pearl. 00:29:37 Speaker 4: Every time he plays us, and this will happen again, he will talk about He will look and say, Reperena is my favorite building and if I'm an Auburn fan, I'm like, But he says that every time, and he says this is the best part. 00:29:50 Speaker 2: He says all this and what happens when he walks in. That's what we do. That's what you do in sports. Who's next, Joseph, Joseph, Go ahead, joes Joseph. All right, who's next? Scoop, Scoop, how are you, Scoop. 00:30:10 Speaker 12: I'm doing well. 00:30:11 Speaker 2: How are you guys doing? 00:30:12 Speaker 12: Good for taking the call. So, you know, as a fan up here in Ohio, I just you know, I found myself frustrated Saturday night after the loss, just because being a loyal UK fan, you get frustrated losses. But these fans that are going out here talking about this is a black eye on Pope and it's the worst loss of the season and all this other stuff. I mean, that's what gives UK fan base a black eye and a bad look. If you don't think the game this weekend was more about the fans than it was about the players. Than your nuts. I mean, I know people who spent maybe their life savings to get tickets to this game. I mean, we got people I know that spent three thousand dollars for two tickets. My son asked me to take him down there on Saturday night. I look up ticket prices and their three h seventy five for the last throw in the arena. 00:31:02 Speaker 4: My good kids, Okay, I'm about to bring you down just a second. 00:31:06 Speaker 2: I appreciate the call, just just just just deep breath, Scoop was excited Scoop getting into it. 00:31:12 Speaker 4: It was the worst loss of the season, that's not incorrect. However, it's not a black eye on Pope. It's a game, right, It's a game. But it was a bad loss. Both those things can be true. 00:31:28 Speaker 5: Yeah, I did get frustrated about the people online trying to say negative things about our coach and Pope and. 00:31:35 Speaker 2: Who are those people? Like? What is their argument really? 00:31:40 Speaker 4: I mean, I just want you to imagine what it would be like at this school if we were two and six in the SEC with cal how would this year have gone. Let's just say they do the same stuff they do here and he's one and six, then he goes to Arkansas gets a win on the road, and we're thirteen and eight, two and six in the SEC. You think this fan base would be like, yep, that's what we want. 00:32:08 Speaker 5: No. 00:32:10 Speaker 6: After the game, I had some people with me that were had a little trouble keeping their emotions in check, and I was like, would you trade with Arkansas right now? 00:32:16 Speaker 2: Well? 00:32:16 Speaker 6: No, all right, well then grow up. 00:32:18 Speaker 2: It sucks. 00:32:18 Speaker 6: It's gonna suck tomorrow, might even suck on Monday. But we're still in a great spot. This has been such a fun season. So yes, Arkansas won that one, but Arkansas is still two and six in the league. Kentucky still, it doesn't put it does? 00:32:29 Speaker 4: I think put some pressure on Pope to finish the season strong and have a good march, because this will be one that lingers right, So like there is a pressure now to sort of finish strong. But remember we don't have a point guard right now, and that is going to make it harder. We play the worst teams in the SEC. Well, we just played one of them, but we still play the others, so there are wins to be had. But we also still play Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee. 00:32:57 Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know. 00:33:00 Speaker 6: Ole Miss is ranked one of the hardest places to win. 00:33:02 Speaker 2: What if they go win Tuesday. 00:33:03 Speaker 6: You just beat Tennessee and Ole Miss on the road and lost one. That's stunk, very plausible thing to happen. We also could lose have a losing record in the SEC going into the South Carolina. 00:33:16 Speaker 5: That's not a crazy thought either. 00:33:18 Speaker 2: So tell me about Stocktonborg. 00:33:20 Speaker 5: Oh, I've got it pulled up here today, so I'm ready to go. They got Super Bowl bets like you figure out what you want to bet, you could do it. You can bet like how many toenails will Travis Kelsey have at the end of the game? 00:34:37 Speaker 2: Ten? 00:34:39 Speaker 6: Going? 00:34:39 Speaker 2: You know he loses one? 00:34:41 Speaker 7: Is there an on that you know you think you might have one? 00:34:47 Speaker 2: You get you gonna take the over on the ts. Wow, that's an interesting one. Uh. 00:34:54 Speaker 4: You go to DraftKings dot com promo code ks R bet five, get two hundred and watch for all the Super Bowl specials coming now. Our Draft Kings picks most of the games. Tonight's stink, but there's a big one. Iowa State at Kansas. I was State lost by at home by twenty to Kansas State. Can they reverse go on the road and win at Kansas? 00:35:14 Speaker 5: Kansas choked it against Baylor this weekend. They had the lead and late in the game of Taylor contain. 00:35:19 Speaker 4: I think Kansas was up sixteen or eighteen in that game and blew it. 00:35:23 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I would take I was stay at home, but nothing in the fog. I'll go Kansas here, It'll be close. I'm actual, I'm looking forward to watching this one. I don't usually watch stuff outside the SEC, but I'll be watching this one. 00:35:33 Speaker 5: I am a state of sneaky good, but Kansas seems to They're kind of struggling love this year. 00:35:38 Speaker 4: By the way, I think I now think there are three teams that have separated themselves from the pack. I think it's all Burn, Alabama and Duke are the three are the three best ones. And even with Duke like, they don't play anybody, So it's hard to know for real, you know, I said, Remember I said after one game Duke was going twenty to zero in the ACC Remember that may happen, and that's gonna happen, and Louis all loss though they did my thing that they might. 00:36:03 Speaker 2: Not want to. 00:36:03 Speaker 6: Georgia Tech two of the top five team right behind Duke and Auburn Are and Ken Palm at least our Tennessee and Florida and Kentucky's already got two wins over that. So yeah, when people are worried about the skofall and remember those games. 00:36:15 Speaker 4: What person rights. My frustration went with you, matt Is you ran cal out of town for losing at home, losing big games, losing in Atturney. Well, Pope's managed to do two of those things. He better not get out of the first round of the tournament tournament. What do you think about that? Well, I mean, I think you're an idiot, honestly, that's what I think about that, Like, that's a really stupid viewpoint. First of all, this is his first year he has won. Pope has won more big games in one year than cal probably won in the last five If we're being real, we won the Champions Classic, we had wins. The last we hadn't won a game in the Champions was Classic. In the last five years, we probably would win one big as game a year. We already did that and we got half the season left, and we can't do worse than the SEC tournament, NCAA tournament than he did in the last five years, So that's stupid. The other thing is give him a second. He had a month to get this roster together and his two point guards got hurt. 00:37:21 Speaker 2: It's tough. I mean it's tough. 00:37:23 Speaker 4: I have two questions about Mark Pope and only two question One can he go get the elite elite guy? Still don't think that's happened yet. I think his recruits coming in are really good, but I don't think any of them yet are gonna be like so good they can lead you to a final four. Like just there aren't many of those guys that come in as freshmen. I'm not sure any of these three are. And then second, can he win in a tournament just because he hadn't done it yet? But but everything else I don't question. 00:37:54 Speaker 5: Yeah, out of the five teams you guys just mentioned the top five, he's beat three of the five. Duke, Tennessee and Florida. 00:38:00 Speaker 4: Think about the teams. Think about the three teams that are the best in the country. In my opinion, Auburn's got a National Player of the Year candidate in Broom and a lot of guys that can play. I think Pope is gonna end up building teams like Auburn's team. Alabama plays the style we like, just test players a little bit better than us. And Duke's got a once every five years level superstar and other good freshman. We still have any of that right now, and that's why we're a couple of notches below. 00:38:29 Speaker 6: They're so beat up. Colin Chandler playing seventeen minutes, I mean, did anyone expect Travis Perry, Trent Noah, Colin Chandler to be playing meaningful minutes right now? Back when they were beating Duke that. Well, this shows how bad their roster's gotten with these in. 00:38:41 Speaker 4: We just think about when everybody was healthy, they didn't, Yeah, which is probably what he thought Pope thought was gonna happen. 00:38:47 Speaker 2: Who's next. 00:38:48 Speaker 7: Let's go to Dan, Dan. 00:38:50 Speaker 2: What's up? Dan? 00:38:52 Speaker 13: Hey man? 00:38:53 Speaker 10: Dan? 00:38:53 Speaker 4: From now? 00:38:55 Speaker 13: You know this weekend, eleven teams out of the top twenty five lost. That's just showing you the parody that's in you know, it's in the basketball this year except for those first three teams you said, and you know in Arkansas came in here with deer muscles. 00:39:12 Speaker 2: Uh. 00:39:12 Speaker 13: You know, it's like we went to Tennessee. Of course we didn't have a you know, the opposing coast going there. But we're going to Tennessee and beat Tennessee and nobody thought we were gonna do that. 00:39:22 Speaker 2: Yeah, and we'll still win. 00:39:25 Speaker 4: We'll still win at least one or two games that we don't think we're gonna win, and we'll probably still lose one or two we don't think we're gonna lose. I think that's just how his teams are at least at this point. 00:39:39 Speaker 13: Let me ask you this to get my second question. 00:39:43 Speaker 6: The teams. 00:39:44 Speaker 13: Uh, you know, I always say defense wins championships. I think now maybe three pointers or the ones is gonna win. 00:39:50 Speaker 2: Of course. 00:39:51 Speaker 4: Yeah, that that old adage defense wins championships is from a different from a different time. I mean, now, offense wins championships. You can't be awful defensively, but you win by having dudes and I appreciate the call who can put it in the basket. And now we need to be better defensively. Mark Pope's really never had a great team defensively, and right now we're not good defensively and we don't quite have the offensive firepower because of these injuries. 00:40:20 Speaker 5: You know, we have to play a couple of guys are good offensively that are just not defensive players and they. 00:40:25 Speaker 2: Need to be on the floor, but they hurt us defensively. 00:40:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, and he has to be cognizant Drew of playing too many of those defensive liabilities at the same time, like he cannot play. Like at one point in the game we had Perry, Braya, Almonor and Garrison in at the same time. That's just not gonna work. Those dudes cannot guard, you know, like Oway and Robinson. There should never be a moment where one of those guys at end right, and you probably need to just tell the two of them, look, Otega Jackson, you're going thirty eight tonight, like like that's just what's happening. 00:41:05 Speaker 2: So let's go. 00:41:06 Speaker 6: And while they're limited not to call out any individuals, but one guy, Kobe Brea, gotta have more than five points for you and games like that, especially it hits that three right away and you don't hear from him again. If he can't. We know he can't defend very well if he's not throwing in threes. He's also can be a liability. 00:41:21 Speaker 2: A liability. 00:41:22 Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, no, he's he helped stretch the floor, but he's the worst defender on the team. 00:41:27 Speaker 4: I mean he can't guard no offense to him, but he can't guard anybody and that makes it really hard. 00:41:34 Speaker 2: So you better be making shots. 00:41:36 Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, Travis hit a three, but then he made a couple of bad turnovers. 00:41:39 Speaker 4: You know, see Travis, his problem is turnovers. Like, hey man, just take a breath. Yeah, we get you know, we need you to not make the basic mistakes because we we we might need your shooting. 00:41:53 Speaker 2: So who's next. 00:41:54 Speaker 7: Let's go to Todd. 00:41:55 Speaker 2: Todd, I got about a minute. 00:41:58 Speaker 11: Okay, hey, but its first time call. I wanna get a shower my mom and Bria and uh cause, hey, you're opening statements about the substitution. We was leading Florida early. He made substitutions a lot of times during timeouts he does, and it's killing our momentum and chemistry on the floor. We got to ride the horses, so they go down. And I believed he did hell kill me when he took He took Gillingham out. He hit three shots against Kansas, put him on the bench. You know you gotta ride, and. 00:42:30 Speaker 4: It was funny. He didn't do that. He didn't do it yesterday. Didn't he put his I appreciate the cast. Saturday he put his guys just letting them them bro all right, So we are here Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week Friday's are remote is where Kentucky branded. Yeah, getting ready for the South Carolina game. Hey, thank you all. Leave aside the endings. Today was an awesome day in Lexington, and it was awesome here and it was a lot of fun. 00:42:55 Speaker 2: I wish it could have ended better. 00:42:56 Speaker 4: We're gonna have better day coming in the next two or three weeks. 00:43:00 Speaker 2: I believe it. Thank you all. We'll see it. This has been kaos arm
