Speaker 1: I'm not getting hold of muwe.

00:00:14
Speaker 2: Ft Live Post Game Show presented by Fox One. That's where you can see all of the WBC games. Bron Kratz, Todd Father, Todd Father. What the heck happened to Team USA just now? They did show some fight late, but they lost eight to six to Team Italy. They were down eight to nothing at one point they got molly wopped, and I don't know if.

00:00:32
Speaker 3: They were aware that they might.

00:00:34
Speaker 2: Be eliminated from the freaking tournament tomorrow.

00:00:39
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:00:39
Speaker 5: I think the one word was flat They came out flat rate from the jump Street. I think what these guys need to understand is that every game matters. We're gonna go over a lot of this, we're gonna go over the pregame stuff. But for me, it just seemed like Italy came out with some juice, with some energy, with the focus of going out there no matter who they're playing, and going out and dominating, and that's what they did. The home runs came in plenty. It just it just seemed like everything went their way. The mistakes, the strike zone, we're gonna talk about that, every little.

00:01:13
Speaker 4: Thing went their way. In USA.

00:01:16
Speaker 5: They they came on strong, but it was, you know, a little too late, cratzy. Oh man, this one, this one got away early, and it got away often. And this is a huge loss. There's huge implications here. We got to break everything down. But man, this is this one stings a little bit.

00:01:33
Speaker 6: This Todd, You're I mean, you even have your south Side or shirt on. You're entrenched in tournament baseball. You played for Team USA, you played in the Olympics. Every game matters, Every game matters. That's from Mark de Rosa, the manager, down to you know, Ernie Clement to Bryce Harper to Paul Goldchmid. Every game matters, Every at bat matters, because when you start getting into the situation, that happened, the unthinkable happened. Oh Italy pulled the upset. Now you're talking about this run. I hate going to Diamondation over in New Jersey, where Todd's gonna spend the next seven years with his boys playing travel baseball and looking up and.

00:02:20
Speaker 7: Go, oh man, they let up a run.

00:02:22
Speaker 6: They still won, you know, they still won fifteen to five, but they let up a run. Now, this is the this is the real deal, the life that they're going to have to live watching the team Italy play Team Mexico tomorrow. Team Mexico wins and it's a low scoring game. USA could be cooked.

00:02:46
Speaker 2: They might not even make it to the damn quarter final. We were looking at this as maybe the best most talented team on paper ever for Team USA. We're going to go over some strategy here. This is a postgame show. We need to break down exactly what happened. Was the team starting out flat, no doubt, but they did put up six runs against the team Italy that has big league pitching, including Michael Lorenzen who was fantastic, showing off all of his repertoire, hitting his spots.

00:03:12
Speaker 3: Changing locations, the whole deal.

00:03:14
Speaker 2: But Tmosa pitching gave up eight runs. What we always call out is how Team USA does not have their best pitching on the mound right for these tournaments. Now we've had better pitching, but it appears as if the game was navigated to a point that you didn't feel like it was a must win game for TEAMSA not to mention, Bryce Harper needs to be playing every single game at first base.

00:03:37
Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Paul Goldschmidt.

00:03:38
Speaker 2: Should be coming off the bench, maybe to hit against the lefty for somebody. At some point in a game, Bryce Harper should be starting embarrassing for Temsa, as many people have reported.

00:03:47
Speaker 3: And what I.

00:03:48
Speaker 2: Want to get to now is something that went ultra viral during the game, as Mark de Rosa does his daily MLB interviews, and he was talking about how this was.

00:04:00
Speaker 3: A little bit of chill mode heading into tonight. Listen to this a ton of respect for Italy.

00:04:05
Speaker 4: It's it's weird. We want to win.

00:04:06
Speaker 8: We want to win this game even though our tickets punched at a quarterfinals because Mexico plays Italy actually tomorrow. So this the way, the way the schedule lines up, this is an important game for us.

00:04:21
Speaker 2: What I mean, I'm I'm assuming someone told him between whenever that TV appearance was it was today, I don't know what hour it was, and then when the game started. But what they didn't punch their ticket yet. I mean, there's no confusion here about how all this works. Crafts but and the tiebreaker gets complicated. But the one thing that everybody knew heading into tonight was Tmosa did not clinch a quarterfinal spot.

00:04:45
Speaker 3: Period.

00:04:46
Speaker 2: They had won their first three games, great, they had two cupcakes and then they beat two Mexico in a nice game, this one still mattered.

00:04:54
Speaker 3: I disagree with your one point that every game matters.

00:04:56
Speaker 2: It doesn't matter, say for Puerto Rico tonight when they lost three to two to Canada, they already did clinch. Now it matters for them to clinch a seed. But and so maybe maybe I take it back a little bit. There are games that way heavier than others. If you want to look at one scenario and say, hey, this is a game where we're not going to use our best guys, right, you can't do it anyway. But Puerto Rico had the option to do Edwin Diaz back to back days. It's probably not going to pitch in a game like that because they want to save him for the rest of the tournament or for the next day. Right in this scenario, team USA loses this game, they could be knocked out of the tournament. Do you feel like that was clear.

00:05:33
Speaker 7: No?

00:05:33
Speaker 6: Not to I mean to me, yes, not to not clearly when if your manager says that if you have a big hangout after your game last night, you know what what Like up until that point, it felt like they I thought they knew they needed to win this game. If you're the manager, if you're part of Team USA, you know that this is a must win game. You still have to win it. You don't just cruise through games with big leaguers in them like this is how this is how the game works. So for the manager to set a tone that's that's tough and he's gonna he's gonna want to take that back.

00:06:46
Speaker 5: And plus I want to look cool when people come over and say, wow, you made all this stuff, and I'll be like easy peasy.

00:07:18
Speaker 5: Listen, it happened before Australia. Yeah, we saw Australia. They got the second run in their final game against Korea, if I'm not mistaken, and that was in the eighth inning, and next thing, you know, Korea had to get another run so they can find their way to move forward. So yeah, these scenarios are playing out the excitement from one team the disappointment from another. But every run counts, every inning counts, every misplay counts. And this is a big one.

00:07:50
Speaker 4: Man.

00:07:51
Speaker 5: They gave up a lot of runs. And it goes by the run differential. I mean, if you look at these tie breakers, I mean it goes by runs allowed, defensive outs record first, which everybody might be tied, and then next thing, you know, runs allowed for per defensive outs. This is it's nail butting time. It's now butting time for USA. When we're looking at this and we're seeing the game tomorrow. Man, it would be a shame if they don't make it to the quarterfinals. The team is really good, it's really deep. It goes to show you how great baseball really is, too.

00:08:25
Speaker 4: Man.

00:08:25
Speaker 5: Any given day, a team like Team Italy comes in there, mashes a couple home runs and next thing you know, it's eight nothing.

00:08:33
Speaker 4: You're like, WHOA just taken back a little bit.

00:08:36
Speaker 5: You can hear it in the announcer's voice, in John Smolt's voice, like it took the wind out of everybody's sales, you know. But yeah, yeah, they're gonna look back. Hopefully they'll look it back on this one and get a laugh and they can get in. But right now, nobody's laughing.

00:08:51
Speaker 2: And I want to give a ton of credit to Team Italy, and I want to make sure we save some time to talk about how brilliant the performance from the bottom of the lineup was vinniep with great stretches over at first the pitching held a Team USA lineup that is fierce and has been patient as hell, working a ton of walks and they were going after them, right, But let me go back to the pitching for a moment, and we'll get to that.

00:09:12
Speaker 3: Crats.

00:09:13
Speaker 2: Let me go back to the pitching for a moment. Nolan McLain was brilliant with the Mets last year. He's still I think technically a rookie, right he's starting in a must win game for the US. Then it's Ryan Yarborough who ended up going to in a third. Brad Keller had a really bad mistake on a potential double playball, turns around to throw it.

00:09:32
Speaker 3: They get nothing out of that.

00:09:33
Speaker 2: Do you feel like the pitching plan was good enough tonight for the US or again, I'll say it, they were making sure everybody gets their time.

00:09:43
Speaker 3: You gotta balance.

00:09:44
Speaker 2: This person gets his abs, this person gets his innings. It doesn't feel like that's the case for every team. I watch a lot of WBC and I don't get that same feeling. I can't point to every single scenario here, and there are rules in play for usage in the WBC, but I feel like Team USA has a lot more to manage. And that was talked about for the last three years, including by de Rosa, who runs this team. He's like, I cannot do the talk to every organization. Everybody gets a metal shit. They just did it tonight.

00:10:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean there's so much So I heard it explained one time in the World Cup. Would you rather have a veteran taking a penalty shot at the end of a game or would you rather have this sensational rookie who's never been battle tested in that moment taking a penalty shot. Well, today you threw a rookie out there. I'm not saying Nolan McLain. Nol McLain might even win the Rookie of the Year, he might go on and have an incredible career.

00:10:47
Speaker 7: Wasn't the right.

00:10:47
Speaker 6: Choice to have a rookie who hasn't been in those big spots when you could have scheduled different guys. And I know there's rules, there's different issues with the pitch cap I mean with the not pitch count because everybody's on pitch count, but the different guys that you're allowed to throw you're not allowed to throw, how you construct the rotation, how the guys start. But to me, you gotta you gotta look at it and say, is this the do you want experience out there on the mound. Did they have no other choices? I don't know everything in the background, but it obviously backfired. It obviously was an issue that Italy came out and they had four hits in eight runs. That means they were giving base runners up. Credit to Italy, absolutely, but if you're on Team USA, you're pitching on Team USA, you have to put guys in the line, in the rotation on the mound that are gonna throw strikes, not hit batters. Like there's two There was too many free, free base runners and Italy men, and.

00:11:53
Speaker 5: Pay listen to this that I'm looking at the box score the Italy's first five batters this here, oh for four, oh for five, oh for five, oh for four, oh for four, six, seven, eight, nine, Absolutely did incredible. You know, I don't have the full number line here, but you think about your first five batters.

00:12:16
Speaker 4: Going, what is that twenty two? Come on man, and you win the game.

00:12:22
Speaker 5: Mike Lorenzen, I mean, have a day like Holy col for Team Midaly, and you think about this whole thing. Nolan McLean, first three batters, three up, three down, all on struckouts, strikeout the side. You thought it was gonna be easy pickings. And then boom, left the pitch out over the plate, two seamer gone opposite field, and then another one on the inner half that flattened out.

00:12:45
Speaker 4: And that's what happens in baseball. That's it.

00:12:49
Speaker 5: All the left handed batters too, I mean, absolutely incredible. This is why the World Baseball Classic is one of the best shows on Earth for baseball fans. You know, any think can happen in these games, and this, this is huge, This is absolutely huge.

00:13:04
Speaker 4: This could be really devastating.

00:13:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know tomorrow, Team Italy against Team Mexico is gonna be must watch.

00:13:14
Speaker 3: TV broadcast Fox.

00:13:15
Speaker 2: One if you're streaming it, right, we were everything about tomorrow was Oh, Venezuela against Dominican Republic's gonna be awesome. They're both advancing, it's proceeding, but it's going to be so good. I mean, Italy against Mexico is going to be nuts because US fans are all gonna have to watch biting their nails and playing out scenarios. Just like you mentioned, Todd Father, Korea knew that they had to get to a seven to two score to a five run advantage there in that game to advance in their pool.

00:13:40
Speaker 3: Tm USA doesn't even get to control the destiny.

00:13:42
Speaker 2: They just have to watch a game play out that started by Aaron Nola. Great for Team Italy and everyone in the US is suddenly Italian. They're rooting for Team Italy. But guess what the Mexico lineup is?

00:13:52
Speaker 4: Legit it is and it changes the scenario.

00:13:57
Speaker 5: Who Mexico might even want to throw, like who they want position like, There's a lot that goes into this. They saw the loss, they'll like, ooh, all right, we're sitting pretty here. You never know what can happen. So and listen, Italy with this win, they can still get bounced out. So that's that's the crazy part about this. To the victor, go the spoils. We guess what, Italy, you don't get your cappuccino and express already for tomorrowkuse you better come to play too. So this is very interesting, very very interesting.

00:14:29
Speaker 2: All right, a couple things from the game here real quick, Kratz, you want to give some love to Team Italy and what stood out to you Lorenzen as a former catcher watching Michael Lorenzen carve up a lineup like that, Kratz how did that look? And then what did you think of the bottom of the lineup with guys like Jack Caglion, who I think is going to be a future star in the big leagues. You saw a little bit last year, but I mean he's got ridiculous pop and just the bottom of the lineup thriving. Vinnip has recruited this team. He got everybody except he couldn't get Roman Anthony because the US team ended up getting him. But otherwise Anthony would have been on Team Italy and then he loses to the US. So we've been critical of Team USA for the first ten minutes here, but I do want to make sure that we give flowers to Team Italy for the biggest win in the country's history in baseball by.

00:15:19
Speaker 6: Far, by far biggest, maybe the biggest upset in WBC history, no matter who advances out of this incredible upset. But this lineup, this lineup was constructed to be a top heavy lineup. Is like, is Jack Heckley oone going to play in the next WBC or maybe in the Olympics in twenty eight if they if they allow big leaguers and possibly hit third or fourth, Yes, I think that's his I think that's where he's not even his ceiling. I think that's just what he'll be able to do because of unlocking that power. But when you look at his lineup and you have a veteran in Birdie, you have, I mean, I guess past Fineen, it would be a veteran the captain hitting third, and then Dominic Canzone hitting forth. You would go okay, like this lineup's gonna score some runs, and then you get down. You got a rookie last year's rookie catcher for the White Sox, and Teal who has unbelievable grinded out at bats. To me, yes, Caglione hit the homer, but to me it's it was a Teal home run that like whoa like us got punched in the mouth. Wait a minute, this dude just hit a ball opposite field into the Crawford boxes and his at bats.

00:16:35
Speaker 7: To me, unfortunately came out injured.

00:16:37
Speaker 6: So that's gonna be that's gonna really hurt Team Italy tomorrow when they're playing in that game. But his at bats reminded me of what I was seeing from Bobby Witt, not saying they're the best players, not saying he's as good as Bobby Witt. I'm saying that he wasn't giving up any pitches. His ability to stay locked in and put the ball in play and hit it hard really kind of showed me what Italy did throughout their lineup, the fact that they still only had four hits when they scored their eight runs they ended up I think they ended up getting two more hits if I'm not a mistake. Yeah, they had six total, but to get four hits and score eight runs, it showed they weren't afraid of the US pitching. They weren't afraid of the guys that they were running out there. And we haven't even gotten to Italy's pitching staff yet, which.

00:17:31
Speaker 2: We can do right now, please. I mean, this was the difference for Team Italy this year. In my mind, you have some young, exciting players like Jackaggs, but Lorenzen tonight, Aaron Nola tomorrow, those are guys that can handle a big league lineup.

00:17:48
Speaker 3: Are they gonna out stuff you to death? No? But maybe that's actually the trick. Is it? Bingo?

00:17:53
Speaker 7: Crats bingo?

00:17:56
Speaker 6: Because of the fact that it's so hard to adjust to look Aaron Nola Aaron Nola almost won a syng a few years ago. Like, I get that, And these guys know how to pitch. And what if we always said about some of the best hitting teams that hit a ton of home runs, which tbusa is hit a ton of home runs. It's clearly a team that drives the ball out of the ballpark. They can be pitched too. How do you pitch to a team like that? By making pitches, not by out stuffing them. Do not out stuff an All Star lineup because those duse are like, oh one hundred, I'll clip it. Don't out stuff the Dominican Republic. Don't out stuff you know, Team USA, because it's just not gonna happen.

00:18:40
Speaker 7: But you can pitch. You can make those pitches.

00:18:42
Speaker 6: You can bring in Weissert, you can bring in guys that are making pitches on the corners or not even just on the corners, but in locations that these guys have just slower exit velocities. That's all you're looking for. And they didn't get intimidated by them. Intimidated pitchers do what They walk guys. They don't give up hits. They walk guys where they get behind, and then they give up big damage. The Italian pitchers were not afraid of these guys. They were going after them and they didn't give them a team that I think walked fifteen times up till that point and had some really grinded.

00:19:22
Speaker 7: Out at bats.

00:19:23
Speaker 6: I think they scored all their runs until Picrow Armstrong's second home run. They scored all their runs with two outs, so like they were not afraid. They were maybe too patient, maybe a little sleepy the lineup. But to me, the pitchers who make their pitches, which Aaron Nola is gonna do tomorrow against Team Mexico. Team Mexico just has to come out and kind of wear Nola down because I think this Italian team's bullpen is gonna be a little guessed. They do have the same restrictions as other teams. They're not gonna be able to pitch you know everybody, at least I don't think.

00:19:59
Speaker 3: No, the same restrictions apply.

00:20:01
Speaker 2: That's why I mean Mexico coming off a day off, right, they didn't play today.

00:20:08
Speaker 6: No, I mean I mean Italy. Italy is going to be the same restrictions. They're not gonna be able to go back to back with certain guys like.

00:20:14
Speaker 2: I know it's gonna be Team Mexico didn't play today.

00:20:18
Speaker 7: No, but I'm saying Team Mexico is gonna be fine.

00:20:20
Speaker 6: I'm saying if that's the advantage Mexico's.

00:20:24
Speaker 2: Coming in coming in fresh today against Italy. You also know, you guys know like the emotional high. Well let's get into that in one second. We got to stop for one sec to tell everybody about how you can get tickets to the rest of the WBC. This is how we're able to do this stuff, hustling from morning spring training shows till night.

00:20:43
Speaker 3: Sea Geek is the spot. Okay, there's a code for you.

00:21:11
Speaker 3: Go check those out.

00:21:12
Speaker 2: Spring Training of course is there for you too. But the WBC has Dominican Republic against Venezuela tomorrow. Italy against Mexico is going to be nuts. Some Team USA fans might want to go there now, and they're going to be rooting for Italy.

00:21:24
Speaker 3: They like I said, they're going to all be Italian tomorrow.

00:21:27

For tomorrow's game? We got to get a good look of Team Italy, but Team Mexico.

00:21:53
Speaker 3: Kept up with the US too right.

00:21:55
Speaker 2: They lost by a couple runs, and Jaron Duran looks like he's on fire. Lejandro Kirk can get the job done with clutch AB's Randy or Rosarina has a chance to knock out his buddy Cal Raleigh tomorrow night.

00:22:11
Speaker 3: Too soon.

00:22:13
Speaker 4: No, it's never too perfect.

00:22:17
Speaker 2: You saw that drama, right, I kept going too with the post and then Cal's like we're good. Whatever it is. It at least provided a little bit of a distraction. Not that it didn't cost the US anything here. First of all, cal wasn't even playing. That's probably the one you can make a case for. Catcher is going to go back to back if you have two superstar Allward Catchers. Okay, but Randy Rose Arena has a chance. I mean, he is going to be the most motivated player on the planet tomorrow. And we just were in race camp yesterday, right, was that yesterday or today?

00:22:48
Speaker 3: Today? It felt like yesterday.

00:22:49
Speaker 2: Eric Neander was saying, I'm motivated. Randy Rose Arena is scary. Watch out for his abs tomorrow because he has a chance to say, hey, US are not even going to the quarterfinal, which is insane. But I'll be saying we want the US. But I live for that drama too, Tom Tyler.

00:23:05
Speaker 5: Yeah, you love the drama. I know you do. You love every morsel of it. Like listen, here's my thing, dude. If it's a hockey match and they just had their big to do in the Olympics, your teammates on the other side, they're not they're not high fiving each other man this you know it's not happy go lucky this, this is this is it.

00:23:26
Speaker 4: Man.

00:23:27
Speaker 5: You're gonna try and shake my hand. Yeah, give me a you know, top your bat against my leg or something. Don't go for a handshake, man, Come on now, I I it is what it is.

00:23:37
Speaker 4: I'm not for me. That's just play the game. That's all.

00:23:41
Speaker 5: Gimm tap, Hey, good luck, go get them. You know what I mean the handshake. Maybe I'm not saying it went too far, but yo, we're trying to win here. This is a battle, man. You know, I'll see you in a couple of weeks down at Spring. We can have a few roop ers and and laugh it off and you know, bust each other's chops knowing who won the game and talk a little smack. But you know, different circumstances, you know, go out there and play, give them the tap and move on. So, you know, I don't know. I think we're moving on from the whole thing. But yeah, they're teammates, but they're not teammates during the game. Play the game. Let's go battle. It comes to fastball, inside, get out of the way, watch out.

00:24:18
Speaker 7: I love that by you, Todd, I love that by you.

00:24:21
Speaker 6: But I think this is now that the question is does Mexico say, because we don't want all Randy. We don't want Randy to hit you know, three dangers here because then all of a sudden, Team Italy gives up too many runs. So is there a case that maybe Mexico tries to win for one, three zero?

00:24:46
Speaker 7: Just just saying I'm just asking, I'm asking for a friend.

00:24:50
Speaker 5: I listen, Cratzy, you you might see guys getting thrown out on purpose. Would not be crazy to think, Like, listen, if there was a like top nine or something whatever this scenario is, and they're like, you know what if we just get out here, USA doesn't get in and we get three outs, So do you take that chance?

00:25:11
Speaker 4: Do you have fun with it? Or a man?

00:25:14
Speaker 5: I don't think you do. But at the same time, crazier things have happened. I want to know all this. I need to know the scenarios. I need to know exactly how many runs somebody needs to get and then we could talk more about it. I think that's going to be the fascinating part about how USA can go home or move on.

00:25:33
Speaker 7: I think it's five.

00:25:35
Speaker 6: I think if Mexico wins, if they score five runs, then I know what we're.

00:25:42
Speaker 2: Showing right now, guys, But it was during the game, so so just behind the scenes, it's changed since that. So we're showing something that was during the game that it's changed since.

00:25:53
Speaker 6: Those last few runs, those last few runs at that US, while they still lost, that was huge that they scored the because of the run differential in that sense, but it's the runs against. US has given up eleven and because they gave up three to Mexico and eight tonight, so now Italy is given up six.

00:26:15
Speaker 7: So if Mexico, I don't know.

00:26:18
Speaker 6: What the third time breaker is, but if Mexico scores six runs, then the US is in. Now Mexico, Mexico wins and it's less than six runs, then I'm pretty sure.

00:26:33
Speaker 7: US is in. This is it is.

00:26:38
Speaker 4: It's like travel all over again, it is, right, Hey, listen.

00:26:43
Speaker 5: I was at a travel ball tournament the other day in Houston, and there's time restrictions on stuff. So coaches are coming out talking to their guy a little bit like there's gonna be some cat and mouse going on here. There's no time restrictions on these games. But man, imagine you're up five to nothing, base is loaded and you're like, we're good. We'll get the final three outs in the nine like it's uh, it's interesting, it's very interesting. I think you play to win the game and don't don't worry about the run score.

00:27:11
Speaker 4: Get as many as you can, but it's gonna be talked about.

00:27:16
Speaker 6: Todd, give me the lock for tomorrow. Does Mexico score. I'm setting the over under a five and a half just for Mexico's runs.

00:27:28
Speaker 5: Itly's been very good. I think it's another low scoring game. I do, I don't. I don't think. I I think it's gonna be like a four to three, four to three game. I think Italy wins though. I think they're riding this wave, and I think it only Italy finds a way to come out going undefeated.

00:27:47
Speaker 6: I mean Italy scored with a bottom of the lineup Italy. Italy's top of the lineup scores in this game. Mexico. Do we know who's starting for Mexico?

00:27:58
Speaker 3: They barely. It's probably bullpen game. I don't know.

00:28:01
Speaker 2: They didn't know on the broadcast tonight, so I'm not sure. It's not like MLB where you can see the probables that easily, right, So I'm not sure to be honest. I mean, I know. The crazy thing with Team Mexico too is that's been the problem for them. I mean there's like six seven starters in the bigs that they just don't have for this go round. Guy like Tosh Bradley. We talked about Cody Ponce, this is his first go round back in MLB. Whatever, it doesn't matter. I don't know. We will definitely know by tomorrow. We'll know that we'll get the exact tiebreaker scenarios played out. They usually post that too, and I will say, I do want to get your take here, guys. The world is all about viral moments in sports. It happens very frequently, right or at least we played to some of that today. It was, you know, Randy Rosearina responding to Kyle Riley. But then we got to play watch the game right tonight. And obviously Brandy's not in this game tonight, but that was the storyline throughout the day, stuff going hyper viral on social Right now, it's Team USA loses, the manager misspoke and didn't know that they hadn't made it yet. Then they take the clip down. It's just why ag MLB took the clip off the website. Guys, this isn't nineteen ninety. You can't erase shit. It's on the enternance, it's there, Like what taking it down makes it worse? Then you're gonna go viral for that. Just just leave it. Let the person come on after likedro did and he said he misspoke, Okay, apologize. I mean, it's still kind of crazy that.

00:29:35
Speaker 3: That was the case. But it's just it's twenty twenty six. You can't delete stuff.

00:29:42
Speaker 2: It was up already, So I mean, I will say Todd, I was just gonna say I'm friends with Zero. I've known him for years. I worked with him a ton He's a great dude. I really enjoyed hanging with him. One of the guys, right, it's a great guy. But he's going to be on the heat. USA lost last time. This is a brutal loss this time. And part of his job is recruiting, and you look at the way that the US might have just been eliminated tonight is a rookie starting pitcher who has good stuff but is not battle tested.

00:30:16
Speaker 3: And then Yarborough comes in.

00:30:18
Speaker 2: And then the game was kind of I don't want to say over because they came back late, but the game was in a tough spot. They put them in a significant hole. And the problem I have is we talked for years about the WBC and tm USA needed to throw their best arms out there in the big moments. They didn't have that tonight. I mean, even isn't Clay Holmes available tonight? Where was he at out of the bullpen.

00:30:39
Speaker 4: I think two things for me that stood out a little bit.

00:30:42
Speaker 5: He talked in the interview during the game, He's like, you know, kind of nonchalantly, He's like, yeah, we just got to get yard Borough in there.

00:30:48
Speaker 4: He wanted to get him a little more extended.

00:30:50
Speaker 5: And you know, it seemed like it was just like that happy go lucky, Like there wasn't that that fire from d Row to get.

00:30:59
Speaker 4: His boy's going to win that game.

00:31:01
Speaker 5: And then you know the other thing for me was, I think you got to start Harper no matter what.

00:31:06
Speaker 4: You got to keep him going, get his bat in the lineup.

00:31:09
Speaker 5: And you know, no offense to Paul Goldsmith, He's not the Paul Goldsmith of old.

00:31:13
Speaker 4: I remember playing against him.

00:31:14
Speaker 5: He was one of the top you know, in my opinion when he was hot, one of the top five hitters in baseball. That's how good he was. But right now he's not that guy. You put Harper in there. He's there for the big moments and you never know what really could have happened. You know, it just seemed like a different USA team from Jump Street, and that that was the difference. You got to come out rear and rock and ready to go.

00:31:37
Speaker 6: Obviously more will come out. Obviously d Row isn't afraid of the camera. He'll he'll say things. But miss spoken to me when I watch that, and you have to go back and you have to watch it yourself. We played it at the beginning of the of this clip of this postgame show. If he misspoke to me, his whole demeanor and this whole like he believed that they were in. I don't think that's miss I don't think he misspoke. At the end of the game when they were losing there, they had Kershaw warming up before Mason Miller came in. Did he find out during that game that they are not in if they lose this game? Did he find it out when they're down eight to nothing, Because if Kershall comes in, Kershall may shut the door. Absolutely, Kirshall could give up two more runs now all of a sudden, Now, all of a sudden. So to me, everything lines up. If it smells like it, then it must be true because everything lines up. When I watched his body language what he said, I think they truly thought they were in I'm not.

00:32:44
Speaker 7: Maybe I'm getting deeked. And I have been deeped before.

00:32:47
Speaker 6: And you can say things incorrectly, like I say something that, oh, well, you know Todd grew up in Longshank, New Jersey. No, he grew up in Tom's River. Okay, I misspoke. That's misspoken. Like to me, I think everything was lining up, and he showed me that. That's what the whole staff thought. Everybody thought that that's where. That's what I'm reading. But we'll have to find out more from d.

00:33:11
Speaker 2: Ro And there's a lot of scenarios. Like people are going nuts with the scenarios. He's like, it's not that simple, crazy variable Mexico wins by two, but they do it in extras. Then us gets in because then it goes by like the innings quote Shent matters here too.

00:33:25
Speaker 3: There's a lot right there.

00:33:27
Speaker 2: So we'll spend like maybe we'll do a segment tomorrow just going over that on the daytime FT Show because because somebody way smarter than us is going to lay it all out in a bunch of score scenarios. But playing to what Kratz said, Clayton Kershaw is there, they said as the break glass in case of emergency.

00:33:46
Speaker 3: That was not tonight right.

00:33:49
Speaker 2: So if he I think they thought it was right, it's either we're out of pitching, which was the problem we've been talking about for years with all the rules and we don't want to have guys that are on all these rules and nobody can pitch, or they didn't know what the situation was because it's all gonna come down to how many runs everyone's scoring. I don't know if that question got asked because we've been talking during the pressure. But wow, that's a game that fires me up. You know, obviously pissed off, but you wait a long time for the World Baseball Classic and for Team USA to strut their stuff, and just felt like it wasn't just the physicality that like the physical components of them losing, like the mental components.

00:34:31
Speaker 3: What the hell are we doing?

00:34:32
Speaker 2: So we'll see now they just watch their destiny is not in their control tonight, I mean tomorrow night now, but I guess tonight because it's already passed that time, it's going to be ridiculous.
