Alex Cora, Peter Fatzi, Jason Veratak, and Ramone Vasquez have been fired after a seventeen to one win today the Red Sox make the big move. Hold on a second, then we're gonna get the countdown. This is massive news, ladies and gentlemen of you are just coming in. Alex Cora, Peter Fatzi, Jason Veratak, Ramone Vasquez have been fired even after the complete explosion of the offense here today. But we've been talking about this here for a while, especially this it feels like, you know, the last couple of weeks, this is all we've been talking about, all right, Who are the Red Sox gonna fire? Who are they gonna move on? Of course, I don't want anyone getting fired from their job. That's the last thing that I want. But you've felt like, going back over the last couple of years now, there needed to be some kind of a change, and we had been waiting for some kind of a change for a while. You made the postseason last year. Sure you can say what you will about this past offseason, the moves they made, not bringing back Bregman, not signing a big power pat. You know, you could say all that, but over the last couple of years now, it has felt like there's something in the air where you needed a deeper change. Right. Obviously, the players got to play, but there was just so many inconsistencies over the years. The offense led by Peter Fatsi for so long, they've had so many ups and downs. When they're hot, they're hot, but when they get cold, it's been tough to watch. And it hit its lowest point this year. Obviously it's a very small sample, but you knew deep down, not even just looking at the numbers, not even just looking at the metrics, you can just look with the eye test, that something needed to change. And I have been saying here for the past few episodes. I was thinking some kind of an adjustment with the coaching staff. I'm actually shocked they fired Core here. I am very shocked about this because he's in the middle of a contract. Ownership has let it be has let it be known very clearly how much they love kor There. I'm sure this was not an easy decision for them to sign off on I see a couple of you in the chat Smoke Dog in Phoenix. You're not shocked me personally. I am just because you know, talking with people in the organization over the last couple of years or so, Korra is highly respected in that organization. But at the end of the day, you needed to make a change. And after the money that they spent. I said this in the last couple of episodes. They have spent the money. They moved themselves past the second competitive balance threshold. They signed off on money, and I have been telling you guys this the last few days, the last few nights. Do not put it past Red Sox ownership to make a drastic decision. I've been telling you that. I'm thinking, you know, I probably don't. I don't know if I see Core getting fired. I was even mentioning Breslo. But that's how far Red Sox ownership will go. They have done this time and time again, all the way back, going back to two thousand and two when Henry bought the team. But I think we all agree that there needed to be a change. Now, could you also have the point of view of did they need to move on from all of these guys. I think most of us were thinking it was going to be someone within the hitting staff, within the hitting department. I think a lot of people were looking at Pete Fatsy, and I do think that's not surprising they did that. Coorra though. Wow. The question is is who is going to be the manager here? I mean, this is where I'm not surprised. Again, they've spent the money, but I'm not surprised they did it this early because they just spent all that money and they clearly want to save this season. Because I've said it before, I feel like they do have the talent to be able to compete. That's how I've always felt coming into this year. Now, do I see a World Series team by any means No? But I see a team that absolutely can be competitive, can go for a wild card. Oh so we have news on who Oh okay. The Red Sox have fired manager Alex Cora, heading coach Peter Fatzi, bench coach Ramon Vasquez, and game planning coach Jason Veritek. Moving on to Chris Catillo. Catillo is always on top of everything. Oh okay, So we have a statement from John Henry himself. Alex Corra led this organization to one of the greatest seasons in Red Sox history in twenty eighteen, and for that and the many years that followed, he will always have our deepest gratitude. Again, they love Alex Cora there so I'm sure this was not an easy decision for them. He has had a lasting impact on this team and on this city. He has let on and off the field in so many important ways. These decisions are never easy, but this one is especially difficult. Just like I said, given what Alex Corra, what Alex has meant to the Red Sox since the day he arrived, I want to thank Alex, our coaches and their families for everything they have given to this organization. They have been part of this club in a way that goes beyond the field, and they will always have our respect and gratitude. Breaking news, Chad Tracy is the interim manager, so they are calling up Chad Tracy. Here's the next one from Chris Catillo from two minutes ago. Alex Cora, Peter Fatzi, Kyle Hudson, Ramon Vasquez also hit and Dylan Lawson, along with Major League hitting strategy coach Drill Cronin have all been let go. Wow they I mean wow, they got rid of everyone. I'm not surprised about Dylan Lawson and Joe Cronin as well. I mean, if you're gonna get rid of the hitting coach Peter Fatty, you might as well just keep going after that. So I'm not surprised in that aspect. So I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of other guys coming up. I mean, maybe Johnny Raina is he gonna come up here as well. He was just named one of the He was named the assistant hitting coach. I mean, so, I again still waiting for some news to be coming out here in the chat. Oh okay, all right, so here we go from Chris Katillo. Jason Veratak has been reassigned to a new role within the organization. Details of his reassignment will be announced at a later date. That's interesting. I'm also seeing some of you asking about Andrew Bailey in the chat. Well, if Craig Breslo is still there, then the guy that he hired and Andrew Bailey, and they also are close friends. I'm not surprised that Andrew Bailey is still there because he's a Breslo guy. In the chat. Is Veritek the new hitting coach or the new bench coach? We don't know. I mean, this is what we have right now from Chris Catillo. He's been reassigned to a new role within the organization. Is that just as an advisor? I don't know. Very interesting. My guess here is that they are gonna They're gonna be bringing up a lot of guys down from the miners. But then again, like a man, you have got to You've got to replace a lot of guys here. I'm glad. I mean, I'm never glad for people to lose their jobs, obviously, and I do think there needed to be an adjustment. There needed to be you needed to do something. But I'm very glad they did it. Now. This is pretty unprecedented for something like this to happen in April. I'm sure there's a couple of examples, but I can't think of them off the top of my head right now. But wow, April twenty fifth, you see almost an entire coaching staff getting let go. Peter Fatzy Dylan Lawson not surprised about that. Remember Dylan Lawson, he got let go by the Yankees a couple of years ago before he came to the Red Sox. I don't know, you know, Fatsy not surprised about that because obviously, look at the way the offense is performed, you know, looking at the mech when it comes to the offense, they're hitting the crap out of the ball. They're hitting hard, the eggs of v low hard hit percentage. They rank in the top ten, but they're hitting a ton of ground balls. The approach at the plate that the plate discipline has been all over the place. They seem like they have no plan. I don't know, like they just look lost. So I'm not surprised that they have completely gone in a different direction with the hitting coach staff. I will say this, you know, say what you want about ownership John Henry, Sam Kennedy. I respect that they made a move now that shows urgency. There's been a you know a lot of people talking over the years. John Henry doesn't care. Sam Kennedy, he's just he's just the yes man. He's the he's the guy that talks for Henry. You can say what you will, but I do appreciate the urgent see that shows me that they care. That's my opinion. You can have a different opinion if you want. Someone asking about Veritech being the manager at some point Veritech has interviewed for manager roles in the past. I don't know that that's just never come to fruition. It's never worked out. And Veritech remember not too long ago, what was it a few years ago? A couple of years ago. They changed his role then too, So I'm not sure what they do with Veritech at this point. I mean, kind of does he kind of just go into the same role as you know Pedro and Ortiz is just like an advisor. I don't know. Jonathan mcshat fired Craig Breslow now, oh, I don't think Greig Breslow is going anywhere because ownership just they clearly sided with Breslo on this one. I don't know if Breslow is at at all of any sort of risk of losing his job. I was speculating about it. Where I was right is I saw something big coming, because again I've seen it so many times, so many times they will just do something massive out of nowhere too. They always picked the moment when you least expect it. Remember last year they you know what was it? It was it after the Yankee series. I can't fully remember. My brain's a potato, but out of nowhere. Last year the trading Raffi was out of nowhere in itself, but it was after like a feel good day. I think they had just beaten the Yankees on that Sunday, if I remember correctly, and all of a sudden they trade Raffi. It's like, WHOA, what the We're feeling good, We're feeling happy today. I would imagine there is at least some heat on him. I would have to think that because I mean, this is unprecedented to make a move like this to get rid of this many guys in April, especially Cora. I mean, you gotta think if you're Bresla like Oh. But then again, I don't know was Breslo involved with this decision or was this just purely an ownership decision. I mean, I'm sure Breslo was involved in some way. I don't know. We gotta get We're gonna get a lot more details over the next twenty four to forty eight hours. I will say, though, getting back to Chad Tracy, I do like this move because again, you've seen a lot of guys come up. They have produced very well on the miners. Yes, it's the miners, I know that, but there there's been something where there's just been a disconnect between the minor and major league levels. I mean, look, perfect example, Christian Campbell. The guy was lighting the world on fire. The guy had an incredible season a couple of years ago. And it's again it's the miners, but he was putting up ridiculous numbers. Baseball America scouts were thinking like they were just putting out all the good reviews about Christian Campbell, and then he looked amazing the first month, and then all of a sudden he just fell off a cliff. So you kind of wonder like seems to be like some kind of a disconnect there, right, I don't know. I'll say this. I'll say this because I've seen people talking about this with Franklin Arrius because he's hitting so well down to the minors. So you know, people out there they're saying, all right, we gotta get Franklinarius to the major league level. Hey, I'm not opposed to it if he keeps hitting that way, if you call him up at some point, But then I see other people saying, no, please, don't bring him up. They're gonna ruin him. So for the Franklinarius fans, I think you could have a take a breath. Ali in the chat Robbie fell off a cliff once he started talking to ver Attach Campbell will produce you know. It's again, it is interesting how there just seems to be this issue with guys not even just coming up to the majors, but even in some cases where guys have come to the Red Sox organization and it just hasn't worked out. Fifty two percent agreeing with the move, forty eight percent not agreeing with it. I actually expected a lot of people to be agreeing with it. I think we can all agree there had to be a change. The question is, is to this extent the right move Waaler eighty seven? What is the player reactions? That's gonna be very interesting to listen to as well. I'm sure they're gonna, man, that's gonna be interesting for tomorrow because you know, the Red Sox media, they're gonna be all over the place tomorrow at the game. They're gonna be trying to get quotes any way they can seaside graffiti fantsy. Yes, but surely you keep Korra Cora is the interesting one. Obviously, he's the big the biggest name here. But that is an interesting conversation because I've been on record saying I do agree that I'm in the camp where he has pushed a lot of good buttons in the past, but there's also been a lot of questionable ones too. But that's any manager, you know. I've been seeing Yankee fans going after Aaron Boone for like it feels like eighty years at this point, you know, I mean, managers are just gonna make, you know, questionable calls Cora. You do feel like, you know, there's been more at least at the at least in the early going this year, maybe because maybe a part of that is where like so Laser focused on the lineups every single day, colonized how bad did Cora and his guys uh tick off Breslo. There's no way there was zero tention. Well, here's the thing we had gotten. Let's go back a little bit. Let's rewind a little bit. Over the last couple of off seasons. We have gotten reports of tension within the organization. We had gotten reports. Was it last May, last June, before the Raffi trade that there were people turning on Bresla within the organization? Was that was that the coaching staff or a lot of the guys in the coaching staff? It was core a part of that. I don't know. It's interesting, And remember they traded Rafi, they started playing better, and all of those reports seemed to go away. And then the struggles have been happening, and then you've been hearing a couple things and Red Sox stats he put out last week or a few days ago, if I remember correctly, that that noise was starting to pick up again. I'm sure we're gonna be here's the thing. Also, get ready for this. I'm gonna remind all of you going to be a lot of dragon through the mud. That has happened every time there is something the Raffie trade last year, you know, go back to Terry Francona, theo Epstein, anytime you know, the Bobby Valentine, right, John Farrell, anytime they've made moves, you always start to see stories coming out after. So I'm gonna remind you be on the lookout for stuff over the next couple of days. And e Burns, Yeah, they're classless in that way. Yeah, the whole Terry Francona thing that was disgusting. I thought that was completely ridiculous. The way that all of a sudden you start hearing all these stories about Francona and stuff. I thought that was ridiculous. I will say this with Alex Korra, I will say this, he gave me one of the biggest moments of my life doing ever since I've started YouTube. I messaged him randomly one day and I said, Hey, my name's Robbie. I have a YouTube channel. This was before I partnered up with foul Territory. This was before this is when the podcast was called Family Faithful. I think I had maybe two thousand subscribers at the time, maybe even less, I can't remember. But I asked Cora just out of the blue, I said, I'm gonna shot in the dark. Let's just see if he responds. And he did. I said, Hey, would you want to come on for an interview? I'd love to talk about this off season with you. Would you be willing to come on. I didn't think he was even going to write back. And he wrote back and he said yeah sure. After the winter meetings, I couldn't even believe he responded. So I do appreciate that he did that for me. That was that meant a lot to me. You know, I'm just some dude out here, you know. Yeah, sure, got a YouTube channel and everything, but he didn't have to do that, and he did he, you know, so I always appreciate that with Cora. Yeah, Acorn and the chat Kor did a ton of stuff he didn't have to. Yeah, I mean, there's a reason Kora was here for so long, right, there's a reason. Man, he did a lot of good. I think, what else have we got here in the chat? Michael, So, I have to say, I don't mind firing Cora, but the fact that they're retaining Breslo is extremely frustrating. Cora has been frustrating, but Breslo has no redeeming qualities. You know, I'm gonna stay tuned for that. I think a lot of how the rest of this season goes will dictate could dictate what ends up happening with Breslo. If they end up still spiraling this year and they have a terrible year, I wouldn't be surprised that they moved on from Breslo, because realistically, what would moving Breslo right now do? Right now? I mean, sure could you if you didn't have faith in him and you feel like you could save the season, you bring someone else in or someone else within the organization to take over, try and help, you know, start getting yourself into good positions to possibly make some deals to help the team. But even that, it's still so early, so like, really, what would moving Craig Breslow right now even do now future, sure you can have that conversation, but at least now when it comes you're wanting the players to just improve. You have a good team. It's just a matter of getting the best out of your players. Craig Breslow is not going to be able to do anything right now there. Yeah, you can look at roster construction and all that. So that's why I'm saying, you can have that conversation down the road, but right now you trying to get the best out of your team. Cora, who was in his eighth season in the Red Sox dugout, managed them to a World Series in his first year before agreeing to step away prior to the twenty twenty season after the sign stealing scandal. Also fired Peter Fatsie, Dylan Lawson, Kyle Hudson, Ramon Vasquez, and Joe Cronin. Additionally Jason Vertek. But he's gonna be reassigned, Okay, So there's nothing. He's just laying out what happened basically. So nothing new there. Cora was fought forty five minutes late to talk to the media pregame, with no real explanation or apology. Was notably snippy and on edge with us during that conversation. Hmmm, So I wonder if he knew then? I don't know, in uh in, I can't pronounce the name. I see this in the chat though, I could see Korra going to the Phillies. I wouldn't be surprised about that. The Phillies are off to a terrible start. Would he do that right now? I could see that being an offseason move. I mean, hey, none of us thought this was gonna happen now. I mean, could you know he does have a relationship with Dave Dombrowski, so obviously Dombrowski brought him in, right, So could they make that move in season or or could that be an offseason move? I wouldn't be surprised about that, though. Cora with the Phillies at some point I would not be surprised because they have a win now group. That's been also something with Cora that people have talked about over the last couple of years, is is he the right manager for this group? Coorra? Obviously, he was a championship winning player with the Red Sox and seven guy knew how to win, right, a great baseball mind player development wise, you kind of wonder if he was the right fit. Right, he was great when he led a team that had talent, that had a ton of talent, Right, he knew where to push the right buttons. It felt like twenty eighteen, he couldn't miss with making any decision, bullpen, pinch hit, whatever, you know, sitting a guy one day, he just felt like he couldn't miss. So if you put him with that kind of a team where they got the talent there, yeah, Core has shown he can manage you to a World Series championship, but with a team that had a lot of younger players not as much talent, didn't seem to be the best fits. That's why I'm actually okay with Jack Tracy coming here. Brady Fox twelve, twenty one. I have got to know what the players are saying amongst themselves right now. Well, you know, you got to think as well. Obviously, you know a lot of the guys with the Red Sox, they they've been there for a while. But if you're thinking about it from younger players point of view, like Roman and Marcelo Meyer, I mean, they're so young, you know, they're probably just like wow, like they don't even know how to even interpret this. But guys like Will You're who's been with Cora now for the last couple of years. Massa's obviously been there for a couple of years story as well. You know, yeah, I mean those guys for sure. I mean Crochet obviously spent time with him last year. But I mean, if you really think, you know, there's a lot of new guys that have come to the Red Sox recently to where it may not affect them as much. Like obviously Wilson Contreras hasn't been here very long, Ranger Suarez, Sonny Gray. I'm sure they had good relationships, but you know, there's really only like a few guys that have been with Cora now for quite a while, you know, Seti for a few years now. Story, will Yer Masa, Oh, Duran obviously that's gonna be interesting. I'm sorry I've completely missed on Duran, but yeah, that's gonna be an interesting one too. But with Duran, at least, you know, guys within the organization are gonna be coming up to the major league level, so the guys that he developed with. That's another example. Duran a guy where he looked great in the minors and then it took him a little while to get going at the major league level. So could that end up, I don't know, maybe being a good thing for him. But when you take a look at when they actually put pen to paper and brought in a guy like Bregman, all of a sudden they're winning and things are feeling good again. The Jake Min's tweet makes me wonder if Korra was told yesterday that some coaches were getting canned, and kor told them, if you fire them, fire me too. That's kind of what I was getting at a little bit earlier. I was kind of thinking that, you know, like, because Core is a fat Sea supporter, obviously, he's on his coaching staff, right, But that was there, That's what I'm thinking. I wonder if earlier, at some point in the last few days or so, it was mainly focused on the hitting staff and that's the direction they were going to go.
