00:00:02 Speaker 1: What's a happy Hour. I'm Becca Kufriend and I am Michelle Young. We are back with you all again this week to talk about everything that went down in the past two nights of Paradise. Yes, this week has been crazy on Paradise. I feel like it's been crazy on social media. It's just been crazy in general. There's so much has happened, but the original girls returning to the beach, and then after that, we are going to also be talking to Logan, our guest today. Yeah. I'm excited to have him on, mainly because he was part of a very interesting love triangle that I don't think anyone saw coming. I want to get his take on the Hayden situation when he took his girl Kate on this date. But before we get into all of that, all the craziness that Paradise is, what's up, what's going on? We're still in Minnesota, I am, But you know what, Becca, we always start with me, but we're gonna take this minute because I feel like you have something to show off. You have a little bling bling that you might show off. Yeah, our girl, she got engaged. Surprised. Michelle knew about this, fright, I know, I know I've known, but like now I can finally like be excited in public. Yeah, and like I don't have to hide the secret anywhere. Yeah, it feels good, good good, I'm feeling good. Um. I mean, like for us, it happened about a month ago, so it's like been the norm for us. But I don't know. We just like to hold onto things and keep it a little secret. And you know, we wanted to take the time to be able to tell all of our friends and family first before the world. So we were just soaking in this little special moment for the past couple of weeks. But it's it's fun now because you know, cats out of the bag surprise. You know, I will say this, you have a good group of like just friends and family and like secret keepers because yes, yeah, because when you pop the question for Thomas, like nobody had an idea and yeah, ida whatsoever? And I think like the only inkling of like people who had any idea of this him popping the question for you was like potential bystanders that maybe like we're like speculating different things. But yeah, you know, so yeah, I know you guys are secret keepers. But that's exciting. So does this mean, like wedding planning is a fi officially starting. Um, kind of. We're still waiting on the house to be done, so it's like we've talked about what we kind of would like it to look like. Um, but this house has been like it has been getting to me so much in the past week that once it's done, will really be able to sit down and like start to put together a full guest list and all that. Yeah, I mean, like you know me, I've said this before, I'm not a planner, so like the fact of having to plan a wedding, I really do not look forward to it. We have so many friends, especially like all of my friends back in Minnesota are I swear are getting married this year. They're planning destination weddings, They're planning destination boucherette parties. There's so much with them already that I'm like, well, shit, when can we get married, Like what weekend's gonna work. So we're trying to coordinate against all of that. But yeah, I think probably December January will like really sit down and start putting it all together. Okay, that's exciting though. Also, I feel like, even though you're not a planner, you don't like to plan your fiance does he is like he's like thinking of planning. I don't know if I've ever seen a man who can plan the way Thomas does. Oh yeah, he's so good and he's like not even a planner, but he just like goes above and beyond for things to just like judge anything up. So I am really lucky that I'll have him throughout this. I feel like most not just stereotype, but like most women would take the wedding planning process on themselves. But he, I know, will be like in the trenches with me side by side, like probably making more decisions than I will, which is very helpful. So yeah, I'm I looked out that I got him as my partner. Is there anything that like you're like, excuse me, is there anything that when you're thinking about wedding planning, you know that there's people who have their wedding planned out in like years in advanced right like Pinterest plugged it all? Okay? Is there anything that you are like this is a non negotiable, like yes, I want this at my wedding. I want this to happen, or if you're like something that's like people traditionally do at their weddings, and you're like, I refuse, Like what I had a friend who she refused to have a wedding cake. She's like, I refuse to have a wedding cake. Like I want a dessert station, but there will be no cake. There will be no cupcakes, there will be no cheat like cheesecakes. I don't know what she has something against cake, but is there anything that is like a non negotiable or like absolutely not. I'm the opposite of her. I want like fourteen cakes. I love cakes. We I mean, I definitely want a champagne tower, like that is like the one, not even the one, but like I know we want that just because I have my sparkling Wineline and I just love champagne, so that's a must. And we're just like not super traditional. So I'm like, I don't want, you know, and We've been to so many weddings. I don't want the seated, plated long dinner that goes on and you have to listen all the speeches. I just want it to be a party for everybody. And so we I think want like four or five food trucks to come in people can eat as they want, they can get whatever, winever, and just more of like a fun atmosphere, especially if so many of my friends and family are coming into town. I don't want it to be taken up by this like proper dinner where everyone has to sit at like their special spot. I just wanted to be like mingling galore all night, and so that's definitely what we want. Other than that, like good food, good music, good drinks, like beyond that, I'm not too picky. So yeah, so just like a big party, party vibe. I love that. I love that good food, give music, good champagne, good drinks, good dessert, good company, good all around, all around, just one big party. Yeah, I love it. So I'm excited. I love it. That's so exciting. Well, we'll have to have to keep us updated as much as possible as you I start to get through this, but yes, first that house. Um, I mean yeah, I feel like you and I could chat about all of our fun personal stuff all day long. But let's get into paradise before we bring Logan on. I mean, I feel like every week random stuff keeps happening like that. I don't expect What were some of your favorite parts or cringe worthy parts of this week's episodes. Honestly, I think what blows my mind right now is like nobody knows what they want. I feel like it's just like every single episode or everything, like somebody changes, like you feel like a relationship that's getting closer, and then they're talking about like, yeah, it's you, it's you, like no, like let's work this out. And then you know, we had the split week happen, which was like a lot okay, and then like you come back and then it's just like I'm gonna change my mind and then go over here and then oh like then they come back and realize it and then like a grand something and then go over here. So it's just like I feel like nobody's like, besides Brandon and Serene, nobody's like actually spending enough adequate time with each other to actually get to know anybody, like to get to know and actually try. But then also us is Hayden Hayden Okay, yes, Hayden um him talking about his Golden Retriever dog just like for like how like don't part like half of the episode I am. I understand though I get it. I know I probably rubbed a lot of people wrong, but coming from somebody who is obsessed with her two dogs, I totally understand. Yeah, but like when he came down the stairs and who asked him? Someone asked him like what are your goals or like what are your goals? Qualities are you looking for? And you're like, I have a golden retriever yea what I'm like, it reminds me when you know you're back in the elementary school classroom where like a dog, yeah right, Like yeah, definitely, it's just like really completely Yeah, there's a place and it's just like, well, it's just interesting because it's like also nerve wracking coming into this, like you know you're coming in a little bit late. You don't know who's going to be there. You know people have already made relationships, but it's like it's either going to do one of two things, like it's gonna make you like crack or it's gonna kick you into like you have a lot of time to catch up. And like from somebody who did enter the scene incredibly late, haven't been on Paradise, but with Matt season, it's just like you can talk about like, yes, your dog is important, and you know everything like that, but like at one point, like you have to talk about exactly what you want exactly you know, what partner you're looking for, and all these other things, even though it seems like whatever partner he finds, Ash will just definitely still be second priority to the dog, which he made very clear. We'll see. I was actually surprised that Kate said yes to go on that date. I did not see that coming. We'll get into all of that once we actually bring Logan on Michelle. One thing that really stuck out to me for this episode was the whole situation between Rodney, Eliza, and Justin. And it seems like a consistent theme with Eliza and Kate and maybe some other women they like really want their men to step up this week to fight for their relationship. But let me start first with a question to you. If you were Analyza's position and you were dating Rodney, which you know, I know, I know that that might be a little bit weird, but just hear me out here, Okay, put yourself in her position, and you what looks like for me as a viewer is like one of the strongest strongest relationships so far on the Beach. You guys are vibing You've already had a date, it's going well. Everyone thinks that you're pretty much a done deal. How would you have wanted Rodney's response to be to you when somebody else asked you on a date. Gosh, this is so hard just because I have gotten you know, I'm trying to step outside of the fact because it's just like when I'm watching this on the screen, I under like I know Rodney or like I you know what I mean, Like he was on you know, when he's on my season, I was able to get to know him. And so the way when he's speaking about just that he doesn't want to be hypocritical or he's speaking about like I don't want to take anything away from you, it's purely his concern where he puts the other person first, and he's not you know what I mean, And so like I really think that Aliza took it as like with we all come to the table with different experiences, right, but like he Rodney's just trying to say, I don't want to take anything away from you, you know, like I don't want to be the person to do that. I don't want to be the person to stop you from doing that, and so I think if I were in her position, I would see I would probably pay more closer attention to like the fact that like that's a sign of respect to a certain extent of like, you know, he wants me with however the experience has gone or whatever, like conversations that you've had, he's opened up. He seemed to be very vulnerable, you know, they have been able to grow that relationship fairly quickly. They both you know, got on kind of late, and we're still able to like make it to like a fairly like sturdy point and it's like that's more of like a sign of respect. But then I can also see how it could be taken the other way, because it's like you do want someone to fight for you in a certain to a certain extent, and you kind of know too, just being about Charette. It's different in Paradise too, when there are more options in front of you and there's more relationships forming and like actual tangible couples that you can see, and especially on that beach, like when people love someone like it seems like collectively everyone on that beach for the most part, loves Rodney. They adore him. They ain't saying how sweet he is. And so when you're constantly hearing that, even though she might be into someone who's not Rodney like Justin, to constantly hear that, I feel like and I don't know, And this is why I would love to talk with Eliza, is like maybe she felt boxed into, like still trying to force that relationship to work even though she maybe didn't fully feel like it was the right one. And that's where I'm just saying, like, I wish the directness would have come out a bit more of like, hey, Rodney, I like you, but I also like Justin two. Like, I just wish there was more of that where it wasn't so muddled. Yeah, I feel like everybody has a love triangle almost, Yeah, it is in a love triangle. Yeah, it's it'll be interesting to see what happened. But one other person that was in the midst of a little bit of I'm not even like drama per se, but like in the midst of a sticky situation was Logan. So I think it's just time to bring him on. We have some questions for him, obviously with him and Kate's blooming relationship. So without further ado, everyone let's get into it with Logan. Logan, welcome back to Happy Hour. This is your second time in like two months here. Yeah, it feels like home. Now. Hey, your wife has got the new co hosts. Yeah, well fill us in. How have you been? We saw you at Gabby Richel's mental all, which, like I said, was a couple of months ago. How have you been since then? I've been good. I've been good. Yeah, it's it's just been a crazy year. It's been a lot packed into a little bit of time, and I'm kind of like getting into the flow of it. I'm starting to like, you know, feel comfortable and feel feel good about, you know, my journey. So it's been good. Thanks for asking. God, are you exhausted? Because you literally came off that Like how it works, everything is such a quick turnaround. So you'd come off the season right, you went through all those emotions for the first time, like that massive learning curve, responding, you know, just seeing everybody's baton response to you, and then straight into Bachelor and Paradise. Yeah. No, I think emotionally I've probably aged like twenty to twenty five years or maybe physically too. It's like a presidency I'm just gonna say that. Yep, yeah, I mean emotionally, that's not too bad physically, right, Yeah, no, I need some emotion. It's like it's been quite a year. It's just been stuff. I've just been it's just been going and going, you know. But it's it's all good things. It's all exciting, it's all helps you grow, it's all productive. So it's good things. Yeah, it's good things. How has it been watching Bachelor in Paradise back? Like, how's your mental state going into like watching yourself on the screen again for the second time versus when you're on Reaching Gabby season. It's a little bit easier. It's different. It's different. I think it is easier in some senses because I made such good friends in Paradise that it's really assuring to like have those people and see them on screen talk about you in a positive way, or see that people had your back, or like people understood more than you thought they did, you know what I mean. So you know, it sometimes is nice to watch it on the screen and see things that people said behind the scenes that maybe made you feel better about a situation or just kind of like warmed you up a little. Bit like, Wow, what you know, it's nice nice to know that that Johnny had my back, or that you know, it's nice to know that Shane felt that way at that time, or that you know this person. You know, it's it's kind of nice to hear those things sometimes. Yeah, that's actually I'm glad that you brought that up, because, like taking it back to when you were on the Bout Shred you and I personally don't even think you did anything wrong, Like I think you handled the situation like as best you could, juggling the two bout Shreds, but you kind of in a sense got a bad rep for moving from Rachel to Gabby. And you know, of course, like in this world, people hype everything up and it's also heightened. And so when we saw you at the tell all you were struggling a bit, Like I know that there was a lot out there that you were I think that was your first time like trying to process with all of the comments and criticism from the show and on social media to then going on to Paradise. You not only meet all new people make new friendships, but it seems like for the most part, a lot of people, like you said did have your back and really supported you and got to know you for you and who Logan really is, and they all had great things to say. So how does that feel? Like? Not even that one eighty from your time on the bache rap, but like just seeing people kind of like see you grow and like support you through that journey. What does that feel like? You know, it feels good, And I just have to remember that, like being liked is not the goal, Like, although it does feel good, it is like something that makes you feel special. Whatever the truth is, Like the right thing to do is always the popular thing to do. And that's kind of what I've based like all of my journeys on, like whether it was Bachelord or Bachelor in Paradise, Like I was faced with some tough choices where there was a lot of ways to go about it, and I tried to do it in a way that felt like it was the right thing to do rather than like, oh, this will be received well or this will be popular. Um So, although I love feeling like my friends had my back and feeling like I'm getting some love from from people, I'm just I'm proud of the way I handled things just because I felt like I spoke in a way that I was proud of, and I never I never intentionally treated anyone in a way where I tried to hurt them. And those are things that I hang my hat on. So I was I was proud of that, you know, Yeah, absolutely, No, I can totally I can totally see see that for sure. And that's a good mind and set to have with everything. And what I will say is, yes, you did have people stand up for you, and yes there are people who maybe you weren't. You know, they weren't big fans, but the ladies seem to be a big fan when you were down in Paradise. Because I don't even know what the record is for the amount of dates that somebody has gone on in one season, but I feel like you might be flirting with like the record line, because how many how many dates have you gone on to this point? Three dates in Paradise you were sought after. I don't know. I'm just as surprised as everyone else, Like I have no, I don't know how that happened. I was not like trying to do that. I was not like trying to insert myself into every situation to get a date. I think I just you know, I met people in a certain sequence where like I came down to the beach wanting to get to none and she was open to getting to know me, and it worked out where she got a date card, and you know, Sarah was someone who you know, saw something in me, and I was so flattered and floored that I got a second one. And then you know what happened with Kate was I feel like that was totally um kind of like aside, like almost in a different a different I don't know how to how to put it. Really, it just felt a lot different. It was. It was something that was very sudden and very jarring, but very honest and and that. And then I went on a third one. I was just as shocked as everyone else is. Like I was not like, oh yeah, this is me three days of course, I was like, holy smokes, Like I didn't even I didn't I didn't go on one one on one on my season, So I was like not used to that. I was not. I was totally caught off guard, but totally flattered, totally grateful, and you know it, each experience was so different, Each date was so different and offered offered insight into who I was with and in a different way. But yeah, it's great. Well, you know what they say, third times a charm, and it seems like that third date really was the one for you. But okay, before we get into like the more serious side of the relationships in those dates, let's go back to the very first night you had a moment with Lace or should I say Loose that was quite iconic. Did you think her name was Lucy? Like? How did that come out? Becky? You nailed it? I was. I was a lot of people have gathered from from different parts of the of the episodes that I wasn't well versed in, like my Bachelor history, and I showed up to the beach and everyone was a fresh face. Like no matter who they were unless they were on my season, they were they were a new person to me. And you know, Lace approached me and like wanted to have a conversation and I was totally up for it. And while we were talking, I'm like, Okay, her name definitely starts with it out. I've only been here for a couple hours. I'm learning everyone's name. I was almost sure it was Lucy, but I was like I keep hearing like one syllable like, so it's so it's loose short for Lucy. And I'm like, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna send it. I'm gonna say it and see what I see if it's right. I always yeah, So I'm like, I'm just gonna do it. I'm gonna say it. So I was like, so loose, what's your favorite movie or something like, and she was like, excuse me. And on top of that, like I think you were you would set up like this little birthday celebration for her. Right, she had had a cake made for made by Wells, Yes, and it was fake birthday. I just found out it wasn't actually your birthday when I watched, like I didn't. What was your response? What was your reaction to that? Genius? I mean, it's genius. I mean to just be like, it's my birthday. I mean I've done that at like Chilies before. Oh yeah, I want that free dessert of course. Yeah, one night, take Chilies and bring it to Paradise and just be like, you know, it's my birthday. Treat me, you know, come come talk with me. I was dying like that whole that whole encounter and listen like I understand getting names wrong, Like I have forgotten names on my season. So it's it's a lot to take in, especially when this is your first time meeting everyone on that beach. It's crazy town. Yeah yeah, I mean, how many people were there the first night, like some upwards of like probably thirteen fourteen, And I'm just like trying to get to no names. So once you're too deep in a conversation and you can't ask, sometimes you just got to like take a swing at it. I get it, go bigger, go home, balls to the walls. Yeah. But she's great. We're you know, we talked. We're good friends now and we totally joke about it. So it's totally cool. And she's a great sport about it, you know. So you'll you'll have to send her a birthday cake with Loose on it on her actual birthday. She saved in your phone as Loose. No No, I gave her the correct name of the correct yeah, yeah, the correct all this time. Okay, wait, so I have two things for you. You caught my attention when you said I came down the stairs wanting to get to Noaney. What what about her? Did you actually like? She didn't have a good rep on the first time around. It's like a really not a good rep. Yeah, what did you know about her? Like what coming down the stage, You're like, I want to get to know Regardless of everything that was being said, Yeah, yeah, I think you know. Jesse asked me at the stairs, like who who would you like to get to know? And uh, I said Shane. And it was kind of it was a thing where I felt like on my season and in just a lot of my life in general, I was someone who was like a bit misunderstood just always. I just like like on my season, I just I was trying to be honest and trying to be the right guy, and sometimes it came out in ways that maybe people didn't quite understand, and I felt like I was kind of the odd man out a lot. I felt like an outcast a bit, and just like growing up as a kid, I kind of felt that way. And I looked at Shane and I was like, this is someone who maybe feels that way too, who feels like they were kind of like, you know, a bit of an oddball in the in the group as a whole. You know. She maybe, maybe, I thought to myself, maybe she's misunderstood. Maybe she was like very different in person. Maybe there's like a lot more to her, and she's beautiful. I mean, you know, I'm not gonna act like that didn't play a little bit into it. But um, so I went down there thinking maybe she was like me in a lot of ways that that are rare. And I wasn't wrong, you know, I that first date, a lot of those things that I was curious about were true. She there is a lot more to shine than people know. Um, However, I think there are some qualities that came with with that that that overpowered, um, the good things that I saw. H there were some qualities that weren't really conducive to a relationship to me, that overpowered those good things that I saw. So well, let's get into that then, because you bring up an interesting point. Did you see those right away or did it not come tell later? Because like to like remind all of our viewers and listeners, like that first week you had the date with Shnay, it seemed to go well, and then James comes down and she's kind of bouncing between both you and James and you're both trying to step up and you know, show her how much you care about her, and I would assume, you know, get that, Rose, so talk to us a little bit about your experience, like pursuing her while she's still exploring the separate connection with James. Yeah. So there is no part of me that was that was ever upset that she wanted to explore. That. That wasn't really what rubbed me, because I know, you know, Chane had told me that she had been single for a while and that she was she had had some tough goes in terms of relationships, and that you know, she was just getting used to the idea of like having someone long term. And so in response, I told her, well, if someone comes down those stairs and you feel like it's something you need to explore, you should do it, you know, because I want you to have the full experience. And when that happened and she got the date from James, I was I was supportive of the idea of her exploring. I didn't realize until later, until she left for split week, that I wasn't crazy about the way she went about it at times. It's not the fact that she wanted to date. It was more certain behaviors that made me feel kind of disrespected in a way. Uh And and you know what, when it was happening, I was totally blind to it because I was I liked her so much and I wanted to show where I cared and I wanted to be the person that she picked, and and you know, I tried really hard and she ended up picking me. And you know, after the day after that road ceremony was the morning after was split. You know, we got split, so we never we never really got to like have a conversation before she left about how that we kind of affected me and how I was feeling about how she went about it and if there was some things we should talk about or work through together. Rather than having any of those conversations. Jesse was like, you're you're splitting. They're going here, You're going here. So you know what, when she left, I talked with my friends. I mean, you saw a part of it. We sat on the couch and I was like, I don't know, I don't know what to do in the situation. And they were like, hey, man, you know as your friend, she was like making out with James ran in front of your face, and you know, she was like there was some some behaviors that we saw that make us think maybe you should explore, Maybe you should give yourself the same grace, you know, because she had this opportunity to explore and she did it, and you should do it too. So it was it was a long kind of like process to go through in my head to get to the get to the final conclusion of like, you know what, I should do the same thing, and I should tell her how how how it made me feel, and kind of like I should do it in a way that's respectful. So long answers. No, No, I'm so glad that you actually brought that up or started talking about that, because so this is something that I was wondering as I was watching it last week go down. So you and Cheney have the split week, right, that's when you start exploring. You went on a date with Sarah, you went on your date with Kate, You're now with Kate, and the girls come back to the beach, and so you know, at that point you have to have a conversation with Shaney and just say, hey, you know, I'm being tugged over here by Kate. And that's kind of like where my head and my heart are at right now. Obviously, now you've watched the all unfold, so you watched her time when she was at the hotel. She obviously went on a date with Tyler. She wanted to take Tyler to the boom boom room, and then that didn't work out. So when you're like, obviously, your experience when you were living in a moment was vastly different than when you're watching it back. But what was going through your mind now when you're seeing all of that unfold, basically wants to, you know, go spend the night with Tyler, and then she gets upset for you, at you for saying you have these feelings for Kate, because I was like, in my mind, I'm watching this, I'm my girlfriend. You just tried taking this man this other man to the boom boom room, and now you're getting mad at Logan for kind of doing the same thing, but like not even taking Kate to the boom boom room. No, Yeah, what was that like watching it back? Because you obviously had no idea. It's not like she's going to tell you that. No, I had no clue that it had gotten to that point. I mean, all that I was told by Shaneia was that she had kind of explored something with Tyler, but that he didn't make her feel the way that I can make her feel. And obviously, like we approached the situation very differently, you know, if you remember the sound bites, like on my date with Sarah, I was literally like I'm scared to hold her hand because I don't know what that would imply, you know what I mean. It was like, and of course I let my guard down and eventually opened myself up to it, but I was very hesitant, was very like unsure of like if I wanted to risk well, I mean se had it was like a big it was a big battle in my head. Whereas looking back at at her journey, she was like what she was like, let's go to that. It was but it was very hypocritical and that's why I'm like, hey, girlfriend, why are you so mad at him right now when you literally did the same thing. And she also was like this is great. I'm just here because everyone was really stressed. Where the other girls, the original girls, I was all stressed, and she was like, this is great. I'm just hanging now where I mean your condition A told you get that piece. But like just dating, We're just dating. This is life, and it's like, I get I get that, but yeah, I think her exact quote was like, I'm just so glad Logan's not here, something like yeah I was. I was like obviously watching back and I was like, wow, I mean when you put it in bullet points, like you called me a slow, dumb F word, you said I was gutter trash, you tried to take wait buddy, this was all said about you. Yeah. I don't remember this. I do not remember that. Yeah, she said that to Genevive. Um oh, I said some pretty intense things about me, called me gutter trass. I mean the night before I broke up with her, or two nights before she tried to take my buddy Tyler to the boom broom room. And then I'm I got the fire I got, I got the heat for it. Yeah. So I was like watching it back, I was like, man, I I feel like I didn't visit you know, I didn't have any of that coming. So Lace lose. And then I was okay, wait, my conversation with Lace like fits into all those other sat after so I'm talking about everybody who sought her after you, Okay, And then I out of nowhere though Kate, Kate professes her love or her not love yet interest to miss something. Yeah she's yep, she just came right out of the gates. Hey we do that now. But so Kate does professor interest for you? And how like were you surprised? Was that? Like were you totally caught off card? Oh? Yeah, it hit me like a comment. It was like out of nowhere. I know they only showed part of it, but there was a bit of a There was a really impactful conversation where it actually started with her talking about her connections and you know, almost asking me for advice in a sense where she's like, how are you feeling? How do you deal with all this? You know a couple of these people where your what's your experience with them? And it went from that almost like a friendly advice conversation to like, you know what, I feel really comfortable talking to you and I've never said this, but I have like an attraction towards you. And it was like whoa, It was like it was shocking, you know what I mean? And I my first reaction or response was I feel that way too, and it was it was exciting. It was also like frightening because I'm like, I love Jacob to death. That's one of my good buddies, and I would never want to put that friendship at risk. She also was friends with Sarah, you know, and she understood like the impact that us pursuing each other would have, but she was still for it, and I think that's what like was the most magnetizing for me. She was like, we'll figure it out, we'll talk about how to go about it, we'll like try and be respectful, but like, you're the person I want to be with, so I'm willing to walk through fire to get there for you. And I was like, I'm with you, like I'm I'm here for it. I'm one hundred percent in just because that kind of like it's gonna be hard, but like it's worth it if we can be together type attitude. That's kind of like how I feel, like, if you know, if anyone's like picked that up, if that's how I feel. It's kind of like a do or diet type thing where it's like whatever, we'll figure it out along the way, but if it ends with us having a chance, then let's do it. And that's kind of how she came at me in it. It was like it hit me hard. I liked it and I was here for it. You know. Well, then, so you went on this date with Kate, and I said this on the podcast last week, it seemed like you just felt both of you felt more at ease with each other, Like it just seemed so lighthearted, you could banter off of one another. And I because we had Kate on last week, and I'm like, that date could have been really awkward with anyone else, like massaging each other up and sowen mud on one another, you know, like you like you had to have done it with the right person, and it just seemed easy for the both of you. So talk to us about that like undeniable connection on that date between you two. Yeah, I think a lot of our attraction toward each other was based on humor, you know, being able to like poke fun at herself and she's very good at that. So like it was obviously a date that could have been super awkward. Um, I think we had like we were like feeding each other cucumbers, like under the massage table, We're like slapping mud on each other's bags, making just like the most ridiculous jokes and stuff but yeah, it definitely does take the right person. I think that date with anyone else could have been like awkward. Yeah, I think that that's like one of my favorite things about these shows that people at home like don't understand is that it is so awkward like these dates. You you're you're in the room, but like you have all the producers around you, you have all the cameras that are right there, and then it's like this first date situation. So it's like you learn who you're comfortable ill with and who you're not very very quickly. But can take Can we take a second to talk about the camera angle? Yes? Oh yeah, when your head the chair and there was there's no camera staring up at you and you just owned it. Feel like you're dead on like broke the whole fourth wall. It was so great. I'm like cameraman, so all I can do is like get all these angles, get up in here. Oh yeah. I love the memes too. It's like, uh, what's the movie where he's like here's Johnny and it's like, well, and like in your defense to Kate, I think what's sitting at you? On you at that point, so it's like you didn't really have anywhere to go, Like the cameras below you, Kate's on top of you. You're like, I'm in it to win it right now, I'm here for it, Like this is my TV moment. We think about, like my family is going to be seeing this, and like they're like dead ass, just like straight onto my face through all this while this chick is sitting on top of me massaging. You know what, when you're that deep in it, You're like, my family's gonna see all of this. I'm just gonna lean into it and I'm gonna like you is what it is? Granmy sorry, sorry, sorry Grandpa. How was Kate feeling coming back, not even from that date per se, but like knowing that she would be coming back to the beach with you, you guys were obviously together, and then knowing at some point soon Sane would be coming back and you'd have to have that conversation with her because they didn't quite hit it off and like have great things to say about each other at the tell all. So that had to have been looming in the back of her mind too. What was she like, we were like very much a team about it. I think that's what kind of what I was talking about. We were very comforting toward each other, and we knew it wasn't going to be pretty, and we knew that it was going to be rocky. But yeah, she said something to the effect of like like I'll be your life raft if you need me, which is like really sweet, you know, And I tried to give that same thing to her, like and it's not just you know, Shane is not a monster or anything. And obviously like breaking up with someone, like there's feelings of frustration, there's going to be that. It was more of like, whatever happened, it wasn't like, ohe is going to be this this crazy whatever. It wasn't like that. It was more like, this whole entire process is going to be difficult for both of us, and as long as like I'm holding your hand, whatever, we'll figure it out. So that was the kind of attitude that we had for each other that made it feel like it's going to be tough, but we'll figure it out, you know. Yeah, Yeah, it felt like her she had a lot of confidence. I'm sure that was calming almost It seemed like it was calming to you, just that she was able to vocalize that so well to you about you know, how difficult it was, and then you two return or potentially would be. But then you two returned to the beach, what was the vibe like, did you feel like everybody else kind of had support four Kate and you of kind of how things would potentially unfold and now that you guys would be exploring that relationship. Yeah, I think I had some great friends on the beach. We got really close to me and the guys, and they wanted me to be happy, you know, and they I mean, they're looking out for for the girls too, but they saw me as someone who I think I would like to say they saw me as someone who was like following their heart and who was like doing something difficult because he found someone he really liked. And so they were they were happy that I was able to come at the other side on it, you know, and you know, be sitting next to someone who I was like pretty into. So they were really supportive. So let's get into the next week when Hayting comes down and asks your girl on a date. Were you so floored that she said yes? And what was that like when she left? Were you so confident in that connection that you two had built where you were like, she's going to go on the state, realize you know kind of what he is, about who he is, and you know we'll be fine returning. Like what was going through your brain all day? Because that had to have been a long day. Yeah, and you know what, I had already been through a lot in the last couple of days. I felt like, and so would she. But I kind of kept that same attitude that the whole time I was at the beach, which is like, if you love something, then let it go. If it comes back, it was meant to be. And I was never gonna be someone who was like, you're not allowed to do this. You're not like, I don't care if you're interested, if you're not allowed. I would never be that guy. All I could do is express or try to express whether I was good at it or not, expressed that I didn't love the idea and express that like it's not something I'm going to enjoy. It's something that is a necessary evil to test the relationship, but I don't love the idea of it. And she decided to say yes, And I'll be honest, I was surprised. I thought I would give her the option to go, and I thought she would say no and say like I thought she would say no. I thought she would say, I'm into logan and we just went through all this stuff. He just got cursed out by saying he just you know, we just had this crazy week together. This thing is set in stone. We're gonna, you know, get to know each other more and explore this relationship. And I was hoping that's how I would you know, that's how it would go. But she ended up accepting the date and I said, Okay, well that's not the outcome I wanted, but maybe it'll make us stronger, maybe it'll be better, you know. So got a roll with the punches. Do you feel like because because Kate was so vocal, and she was so vocal with you right off the bat, and you know, we talk about with love languages and how everybody receives love or you tend to love in the ways that you want to receive it correct. So's she seems like she does it like a lot of words of affirmation, telling you I will be the life raft she's you know, giving you these very distinct things that allow you to hear that she is there. Do you feel like maybe in that situation, she was looking for you to really like strongly vocalize as she had before everybody came back to the beach. She was looking for a vocal like vocal response, you know, the vocal of like don't go you know. I think she probably was, and I'm like, I'm like mature enough to like realize I'm not always good at that. You know. Sometimes I keep my cards close to the chest and I don't, like it's hard for me to let someone know how much I care. So I that's something I could have been better at. And I'm like willing to, like, you know, say that. But I think you're right, like we we we show love in the way that we want to receive it. And for me, it was like at that point in my journey, I was like not even considering. I was like not even looking over my shoulder a little bit. So when you know, when she comes to me and she's like, I'm thinking, I'm I might go on a date, at that point, I'm like I was hurt, you know, And I was like, you know, what if you feel like going go ahead. I a little bit of like a laz fair like whatever attitude because I was like her a little bit so well, and I feel like to you get to and I'm sure you felt this on the beach, but like it seems like you get to a certain level or like a threshold in a relationship on that beach where you feel solid and confident, right Like at first everyone's kind of testing the waters and keeping their options open and wanting to explore everything. But at a certain point you get there and you're like, Okay, I'm solid in my connection. Like at this point people can come down and I'm not worried. And it seems and I guess like from this week that's where we were all thrown because it seems like you and Kate were there, and it also seemed like riding in the lines over there where it was like nope, you know, we can have these tests, like these new people come down, We're solid. So I understand why you would have felt the way you did when she said yes to the state with Hayden. Yeah, And I would like any advice I would give to someone to come down on the beaches, you have to be like overly over and on the nose and say things very bluntly or else they will be stretched unless you say, like, Hey, so you and I are never going to accept another date? Right, right? Unless you say that, Like, it's not clear, nothing left up for interpretation. It's like the whole telephone game thing where like people talk and other people say things, and then you're with the producers and it's like all this hearsay for a while where it gets so muddled. So, yes, I love it. You just said that. Just be blunt and direct for anyone going down to Paradise in the future. I feel like it's very needed because you could thank you having an understanding like, oh, we're on the same page. You're not tell you you're not. Yeah, Okay, Logan, we got to wrap this up soon before we get into like the last little bit here, give us a teaser of what's to come without giving too much away. Just a little sneak peak teaser Paradise. Okay. Um, there's a lot of fun coming up in the next you know, a couple of episodes of Paradise. There's also a ton of heartache for my friends, maybe something for me, Like there's a there's a lot of head and it's it's exciting, it's terrifying, it's uh, it's it's great to wash, You'll laugh, you'll cry, it's it's a lot of head so you definitely got to tune in to understand what I mean. I like that you said fun. I don't think anyone else has that. I mean, it's like especially I'm like, you guys had fun. Okay, good, Everyone's like it's wild, it's crazy, it's dramatic. It's like, we know what this TV show is. No, there is there is some fun. Yeah, there is some. There is some laughing, maybe some dancing maybe from me. Even Oh, okay, I know what you're talking about. I see what you're putting out their logan. Okay, I love it. Um No, that was perfect. I feel like even though I mean, we're already what eleven episodes deep right now, and like there's still so much more to go, so we are invested. But logan before we let you go. We always do this thing where we love to keep all of our listeners informed and share important resources. So Michelle and I usually always start but that we would love if you could share a resource too, for all of our listeners. Michelle, would you like to start this week? Sure? Sure? So we've been doing this, like, like I said, for a little bit now. And the podcast that I'm actually going to be referring to is it focuses on a lot that's going on and a lot of the tension, you know with the comments that Kanye is creating and that kind of that hurt, that pain. So it's called Voices, called Voices on Anti Semitism. They go in, they interview all these different people who had survived the Holocaust and it kind of just really digs into it of just perspective and allows the listeners to actually hear like stories, um, and actual feelings, and it unfortunately puts a face in a voice to the people who are being directly affected and so um that yeah, that one I can link for you guys. It's just it's a really really powerful podcast. Again, it's clued Voices, and so I highly recommend listening to everybody whom everyone should know what's going on, and and definitely taking a step in not you know, condoning any or not accepting just how anyone in the public, ie how famous or not. Um doesn't mean that they're always doing the correct thing, and to definitely be held accountable. So all right, and what platform is I'm sorry, did you say, Michelle, Um, I believe it's on I know that it's on Apple Podcasts. I believe. I'll check on Spotify, but I'll always put the I'll link the list of the areas and then YouTube. You can also get a run of that two voices, Thanks Michelle. Okay, I have a couple because well, one randomly popped up last night, So I'm going to share that one first, because y'all know I love Grayson Anatomy, and I will say that obviously we know Grayson enemy focuses on surgery, but they did have an episode that I watched last night that I feel like is this was probably filmed years ago and it's still very timely. It's season twelve, episode seven, and basically there's a scenario in the show where it discusses white privilege a bit, and basically, like the moment how and Win, one of the white surgeons finally realized like her implicit bias that she had so obviously that she was entertaining. But I think it's very timely still for this day and age. The one that I wanted to share though, is I actually have the book here and I just started it, so I'm not very deep into it, but it came recommended. It's called Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, and basically so he was born in South Africa during apartheide, and he was born to a black South African mother and then he has a white European father. So it's basically his story going through growing up during apartheid as a biracial man. Again, I'm still fresh in it, but one part that it gets into is kind of like how speech dictate the way he would act and like assimilate in different group settings. So once I'm finished with this, I will still share more about this book. But that's one of the resources that I'm sharing this week. And also because by the time this airs, we're not going to have another episode before the following week, so don't forget next week everyone. Tuesday, November eighth is National election Day, so get out and vote because it's so important. And that's the third thing. That's the third resource and homework to do is vote on Tuesday. Remember eight with good so that you're Trevor Noah. Um. That one the resource. There's actually like an also like an adapted version for like younger children. I think it's like I don't know what age range is, but I think it's like ten between ten and fifteen. I can try to find it too, but there's like there's an audio book for it, and there's a book that adapts. Um So, it's like a little bit easier to understand and it makes it more Um thanks Michelle. Yeah, awesome, all right the teacher and I love. I was gonna say, well, your kids were probably a little bit younger than for that, but you guys are great ones. Those were both awesome. Thank you you were up man. All right, um So, I there's I'm a very outdoorsy guy. I used to be a snorical tour guide. Um big kayaker in the ocean. I love the beach obviously. Um So. I found an association called Parks for Everyone, where it's focused on giving the opportunity to have outdoor experiences to underprivileged and more diverse groups of people. I think a lot of times these types of activities which are like great for you physically, great for your mental health, learning about nature, learning about animals and different species, and conservation, a lot of kind of the same groups of people get access to these types of activities, and there's a ton of people who could probably benefit from those types of activities that never get to just because they don't have the resources or they're just never exposed to it in general. So this association Parks for Everyone was made in twenty twenty and it's focused on giving like more diverse groups of people access to outdoor activities. They plan hikes, they plan kayaking trips, ocean trips, you know stuff, stuff where people can experience nature, and there's no exclusion when it comes to who can enjoy our you know, our oceans and our mountains and forests and stuff. And you know, it gives a lot of different kinds of people access to those benefits. So awesome parks for everyone. I will have parks for everyone. Pay well, thanks slow, grand I appreciate that. Yeah, before we let you go. Okay, so we're gonna do our rose and thorn. So basically what you're gonna do is you are going to give us a rose, so a positive part in your experience up until this point, and then a thorn, which you can guess something not so positive up at this point and messy, crazy whatever. Totally the rose. It's easy for me when I got to paradise, me and Johnny were obviously very good buddies. And every morning we'd wake up early and go jump in the ocean and go swim out to the rocks and hang out in the waves. And then one by one, like Aaron started coming and then Rodney and Branding and all. Eventually we had the entire group of guys up at sunrise swimming in the water in the ocean every morning. It was like the coolest way to start a day ever. All we're all buddies. We called it the Sunrise Swim Club. Coolest way to start a day, you know, go get breakfast after that with your with your buddies. So that's my Rose Thorne. I got like some of the gnarliest infected bug bites that would make you sick to your stomach. It was like, give me pictures, insane. Yeah, you wouldn't want to see him though. On that note, Logan, we're kicking me off. It has been a pleasure once again, and hopefully we'll see you back after the reunion. I would love that. All right, thank you guys. It's been fun. Okay, well that was fun. He's he's such a nice guy. I'm glad that he was able to shed a little bit more light on you know, his time and relationships and all of the dates he went on during Paradise. So thanks Logan, thank you, and Michelle always so much fun with you. But the biggest things goes out to our Happy Hour listeners.
