<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to Games Mornings with Me Jeff Grab
<v Speaker 1>your host from giant bomb dot com. Thank you for
<v Speaker 1>tuning in. In this episode, we're gonna be talking about
<v Speaker 1>a blockbuster new release that is taking over Steam and
<v Speaker 1>game Pass and weird new Xbox hardware leaks. We'll get
<v Speaker 1>into all of that and more. It's gonna be a
<v Speaker 1>good one because we have been Hansen on the show. Ben,
<v Speaker 1>how are you doing?
<v Speaker 2>Hello? Thanks for having me doing very well. Thanks for
<v Speaker 2>letting me jump in and talk about Samataka and everything
<v Speaker 2>else that good under the sun here.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I appreciate it. Good to see you, man. Suddenly
<v Speaker 1>a bunch of games are coming out. Would would you
<v Speaker 1>play anything in particular right now that that is like
<v Speaker 1>striking your fancy? Or are you just trying to keep
<v Speaker 1>up with the conversation what's going on over there at
<v Speaker 1>men Max?
<v Speaker 2>Thanks for asking? Uh yeah, forts are as the six rules? Naturally?
<v Speaker 2>It's really good, right, Yeah, just a good time, And
<v Speaker 2>like I feel kind of guilty talking about how much
<v Speaker 2>I like the game. I guess I'm several fronts. One
<v Speaker 2>of them is just like I I feel like sometimes
<v Speaker 2>pooh pooh, the kind of easy popcorn games other genre,
<v Speaker 2>but for some reason, like easy popcorn racing games get
<v Speaker 2>to pass for me, like just vomit all over that
<v Speaker 2>world map, put icons everywhere. It makes me haga, bullshit,
<v Speaker 2>it's only in that genre. I don't know what it
<v Speaker 2>is about Forts Horizon, but if that was like an
<v Speaker 2>actual adventure game, I would be, yeah, horrified.
<v Speaker 1>There's something like low stakes about because you know, I
<v Speaker 1>would think it was game Spots review that kind of
<v Speaker 1>set it in maybe better terms than even Ident in
<v Speaker 1>my review. It's you know, it's a it's a great
<v Speaker 1>racing game. It's a maybe even a better driving game.
<v Speaker 1>It's a game just about driving around and seeing that world,
<v Speaker 1>and then when you want to do a race, the
<v Speaker 1>race there's a million of them. If you want to
<v Speaker 1>do a challenge, there's a million of those. If you
<v Speaker 1>want to just take some pictures, if you want to
<v Speaker 1>find some hidden areas on the map. It's got a
<v Speaker 1>ton of that, and something about being like low stakes,
<v Speaker 1>like almost a Sunday drive of a game that then
<v Speaker 1>you could turn into a high octane racer when you
<v Speaker 1>need it to be. Yeah, I don't know, get give
<v Speaker 1>me a ton of that stuff, you know, I go
<v Speaker 1>into that game with no intention of seeing credits. I
<v Speaker 1>don't even really know what that means for that game.
<v Speaker 3>I don't who care? Who care? I just want to
<v Speaker 3>drive around.
<v Speaker 1>I think that like flips things on its text in
<v Speaker 1>action adventure, You're supposed to overcome it. You're supposed to
<v Speaker 1>win that game, solve it, get to the credits. And
<v Speaker 1>I think most people can go into this with the
<v Speaker 1>expectation that I'm going to hang out in this game
<v Speaker 1>by myself or with my friends for as long as
<v Speaker 1>I need it.
<v Speaker 3>And it's really really good for that, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and my best friend of the game, Chaser zero
<v Speaker 2>whatever they're Gundam, that's not that's what they called it. Yeah, Hey, Greba,
<v Speaker 2>I got a pop quiz question for you.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, let's do it.
<v Speaker 2>There's a stumper from the late latest episode of the
<v Speaker 2>mid Max Shrow. I think it was Stephen Woodson in
<v Speaker 2>our community sent this in and it kind of sent
<v Speaker 2>us into a death spiral. Oh no, what is the
<v Speaker 2>biggest video game franchise that has never dabbled with any multiplayer?
<v Speaker 1>I saw you, guy, I saw your social I think
<v Speaker 1>about this yeah clip, and I was like, man, that
<v Speaker 1>is really and I really it was was it Jeffam
<v Speaker 1>that was like kind of always knowing, like or maybe
<v Speaker 1>it was Kyle who pointed out that even like Silent
<v Speaker 1>Hill had a multiplayer game on like PSB or Vita
<v Speaker 1>some shit.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, like yep with a memory.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, any franchise that is old enough got some sort
<v Speaker 1>of weird multiplayer eventually.
<v Speaker 3>In most cases, it's.
<v Speaker 2>Really fun because like that that uh TikTok and Instagram
<v Speaker 2>posts like it's blowing up and so it's just reading
<v Speaker 2>all the comments and it's people are correcting themselves and
<v Speaker 2>people be dismissed and it's like what you're forgetting the
<v Speaker 2>good name.
<v Speaker 3>Of Uru smirch U. We're gonna be playing that on
<v Speaker 3>the site soon.
<v Speaker 2>And then someone was like, I take a great suggestion
<v Speaker 2>to like Prince of Persia, and someone's like incorrect. There
<v Speaker 2>was a multiplayer mode in the PSP version of Prince
<v Speaker 2>of Persia at some point.
<v Speaker 1>Man buck Wild, Yeah, uh yeah, I said Veder, Uh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the Vita Arkham is pretty good.
<v Speaker 3>Uh wait Arkham happens. That's okay, man, that's nuts.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, yeah, okaya, Because once you start including co op,
<v Speaker 1>which is multiplayer, and a lot of these games just
<v Speaker 1>did straight up. Have that Castle Venus is Chucktowski.
<v Speaker 2>No, there's co op.
<v Speaker 1>There's a multiplayer one Xbox Live Arcade one Dead hap.
<v Speaker 1>We have played that recently. Yeah, the Corono series two games.
<v Speaker 2>See, definitely. People are like, well, the Hollow Night series.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, sure, I guess technically, I guess we need
<v Speaker 2>more than two games to make it a It's not.
<v Speaker 1>In the spirit of the question, right, yeah, correct, correct
<v Speaker 1>A Monkey act.
<v Speaker 2>Honestly, Monkey Island, I think is a great suggestion. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I think that's up there. You know, the person who
<v Speaker 2>wrote in suggested Ace Attorney. I think, like that's pretty
<v Speaker 2>solid one. That's debatable, But I do like is technically
<v Speaker 2>Marvel Spider Man from Insomniac. Oh no, if you want
<v Speaker 2>to say, like that subset of Spider Man games is
<v Speaker 2>I guess.
<v Speaker 1>What's what's very funny is literally, on this computer I'm
<v Speaker 1>talking to you on, I have a multiplayer fan made
<v Speaker 1>version of Spider Man, Marvel Spider Man one ready to
<v Speaker 1>go at any time. Yeah, it's actually really amazing. But
<v Speaker 1>of course that's fan made, so would not count against
<v Speaker 1>this question. I'm gonna I'm gonna keep sitting on this one.
<v Speaker 1>This is a fun one and you're right, it's a stumper,
<v Speaker 1>but we should. Let's get into it. Let's explain ourselves.
<v Speaker 1>We're Giant Bomb. Go to giant bomb dot com slash
<v Speaker 1>join become a premium member. If you do that this week,
<v Speaker 1>it's going to count towards a little bar at the
<v Speaker 1>bottom of Mike's Donkey Kong sixty four marathon stream, which
<v Speaker 1>has been going strong all week. He's been doing great work.
<v Speaker 1>He maybe had I think he's going to finish that today.
<v Speaker 1>I did not see where he left off last night.
<v Speaker 1>He just kept going and going, but he was getting
<v Speaker 1>pretty close.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So if you've become a premium member this week, well,
<v Speaker 1>he's already gonna one hundred and one.
<v Speaker 3>Percent the game, which was our first incentive.
<v Speaker 1>Now we have one for a premium community voted blight
<v Speaker 1>You get to vote on which one of the five
<v Speaker 1>owners that includes Jan and Jerff you want to see blighted,
<v Speaker 1>and we will give you a list of games depending
<v Speaker 1>on who wins that you could choose from about which
<v Speaker 1>game they will end up playing. It's exciting stuff, everybody,
<v Speaker 1>So get in there and make you make your voice heard.
<v Speaker 3>Become a premium member.
<v Speaker 1>You'll get to watch it and vote, and we really
<v Speaker 1>appreciate everyone supporting us. It means the world. We're one
<v Speaker 1>year into our independence. It has been fantastic. I wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>change a thing other than just doing more, bigger, and
<v Speaker 1>just including more of you in part of in all
<v Speaker 1>of the fun.
<v Speaker 2>By the way, it's gonna be the biggest landslide in
<v Speaker 2>history for Backlar, isn't it Like so yeah?
<v Speaker 1>I mean I think I think he's going to win.
<v Speaker 1>That would be my bet I lose.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, because people do just like they really enjoy.
<v Speaker 1>Seeing Mike upset, and everyone always wants to punish Dan.
<v Speaker 1>Then I've been getting away with it for quite a
<v Speaker 1>while now. There was a time where I was mistreated
<v Speaker 1>on Blight Club. I was getting Blues Brothers two thousand
<v Speaker 1>for a blighting round and that game was like not
<v Speaker 1>ninety nine hours.
<v Speaker 3>Shut the fuck up, Shut the fuck up, Friday.
<v Speaker 1>You know what You're right? I think it's gotta be true.
<v Speaker 1>As far as this show goes, most weekdays, I Jeff
<v Speaker 1>Grub will help you your gaming life back together. That
<v Speaker 1>includes breaking news and maybe even some of our own
<v Speaker 1>original reporting for all these topics. I'll get the input
<v Speaker 1>of a bona fide expert who will make me look smart.
<v Speaker 1>You were watching live on twitch Welcome. You can always
<v Speaker 1>listen to the show later on podcast feeds by searching

<v Speaker 1>GiantBomb dot com. You can also catch the show later
<v Speaker 1>with chapters and timestamps on YouTube.
<v Speaker 3>Hello YouTube. All right, we have a.
<v Speaker 1>Lot to get into, so let's start the morning mess
<v Speaker 1>with Subnautica two sells two million copies in twelve hours
<v Speaker 1>with over six hundred thousand concurrent players. It is a
<v Speaker 1>massive hit, and that does not include whatever's happening over
<v Speaker 1>on game Pass. This is from Jordan Miller at VGC.
<v Speaker 1>Subnautica has sold over two million copies on its first
<v Speaker 1>day of early access with over six hundred thousand concurrent
<v Speaker 1>players and its opening hours. The sequel to the massively
<v Speaker 1>popular survival game entered early access on Thursday.
<v Speaker 3>Just over one hour after the.
<v Speaker 1>Game's release, the Sumnautica X account Twitter account posted an
<v Speaker 1>announcement that the game had sold over one million copies.
<v Speaker 1>Now within twelve hours, it's sold two million copies. We
<v Speaker 1>kind of knew that there was a lot of.
<v Speaker 3>Demand for this game. Hansen. This is a game.
<v Speaker 1>That was like just on the top of the wish
<v Speaker 1>list on the charts on Steam for a very long time.
<v Speaker 1>Then there's all the weirdness without how the publisher crafting,
<v Speaker 1>the pubg people treated this game and tried to sort
<v Speaker 1>of sabotage it so that the developers at the studio
<v Speaker 1>who were making Subnautica two could not get this two
<v Speaker 1>hundred and fifty million dollar bonus that they would get
<v Speaker 1>if this exact thing happened, which is everyone in the
<v Speaker 1>world bought the game, So sounds like they might be
<v Speaker 1>getting that payday after all, and deservingly so with a
<v Speaker 1>game that is this big, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, absolutely. I love the first of Natica. I dabbled
<v Speaker 2>in Below zero a little bit, and then I jumped
<v Speaker 2>into the second game last night, and it's just it's
<v Speaker 2>it's awesome. It is just such satisfying exploration. You know,
<v Speaker 2>you forget just how well they kind of put the
<v Speaker 2>breadcrumbs out there of like just something on the horizon
<v Speaker 2>at all times that you want to go explore. And
<v Speaker 2>so I've been enjoying it, and like part of me
<v Speaker 2>just wants to be happy for the developers and just
<v Speaker 2>like fully turn the page and be like, can we
<v Speaker 2>just not talk about this lawsuit anymore? It's been like,
<v Speaker 2>what a year of just talking about the dumbest, greediest
<v Speaker 2>people with this lawsuit and like complete dipshits. Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's like, can we just celebrate, Hey, the Deves has
<v Speaker 2>made a hell of a thing so far in early access,
<v Speaker 2>like because I'm sure they are just have been drowning
<v Speaker 2>in stress, and every headline about this game over the
<v Speaker 2>last year has been some dipshit? Did Jack gpt the courtroom?
<v Speaker 2>Just nonsense after nonsense, And so now for them to
<v Speaker 2>have this payoff, like literally and emotionally of the game
<v Speaker 2>being a huge hit, Like I'm so happy for that team.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, it's like they would have loved to like
<v Speaker 1>move on after the court case kind of settled it
<v Speaker 1>and then it seemed like Crafton was still sabotaging things,
<v Speaker 1>and it's it's just it's so nice for them to
<v Speaker 1>actually have the game out. It performed in the way
<v Speaker 1>that they were always hoping it would and probably well
<v Speaker 1>beyond their their even some of their wildest imaginations. I said,
<v Speaker 1>the six hundred thousand did not include Xbox Game Pass
<v Speaker 1>that actually does the Steam numbers for concurrent players was
<v Speaker 1>four hundred and sixty seven thousand, and then when you
<v Speaker 1>combine that with Xbox Game Pass as well, it's over
<v Speaker 1>six one hundred and fifty thousand concurrent players at its peak.
<v Speaker 3>But I believe the two million copies sold is just.
<v Speaker 1>Straight up copies sold, so that would not necessarily include
<v Speaker 1>people playing it because of game pass.
<v Speaker 3>Man.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so we are in a time now where you know,
<v Speaker 1>everyone talks about how treacherous, treacherous it is to like
<v Speaker 1>make a big video game, and you know, people are
<v Speaker 1>so you know, bifurcated across different platforms, and they get
<v Speaker 1>into their their genres in a really hard way, and
<v Speaker 1>they don't necessarily look up and look at the next game.
<v Speaker 1>And like, you know, a PlayStation game can come to
<v Speaker 1>PC and people kind of yawn or you know, some
<v Speaker 1>of them. But there are these games still that and
<v Speaker 1>usually they have a slightly lower price, or they are
<v Speaker 1>early access, or they are you know, in the tree
<v Speaker 1>punching genre, what like Sumnautica is, and these ones still
<v Speaker 1>can just fly off the digital shelves and they they
<v Speaker 1>kind of penetrate into the mainstream of you know, Sean
<v Speaker 1>producing today thank you, was mentioning to me yesterday. They's
<v Speaker 1>had people in his life kind of come up and
<v Speaker 1>ask about Subnatica. These games are almost the new mainstream
<v Speaker 1>hits in a lot of ways, and I think it
<v Speaker 1>really helps that they are big, beefy games that aren't
<v Speaker 1>seventy dollars spend.
<v Speaker 3>What do you think?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think you're right. So Samodika two is thirty bucks.
<v Speaker 2>I think that helps in a big way. And price
<v Speaker 2>difference noted, but I think of like how happy it
<v Speaker 2>felt like the industry was when Pragmata has now sold
<v Speaker 2>like two million copies. It's like, oh my god, it's
<v Speaker 2>a miracle games are selling. And meanwhile a game like
<v Speaker 2>Windrows on Steam also sold a million copies, and it's like, ah, okay,
<v Speaker 2>that's nice survival stuff. That's nice. But it's like the
<v Speaker 2>momentum is with this genre still as much as kind
<v Speaker 2>of more console gamers might not want to acknowledge it,
<v Speaker 2>but it's nice that, yeah, these games at a cheaper
<v Speaker 2>price pointer are selling.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean we saw recently Slay the Spire too rush
<v Speaker 1>to like five hundred thousand concurrents. I think that's that
<v Speaker 1>puts it in like the top twenty for best launched,
<v Speaker 1>you know, best launches on Steam as far as we
<v Speaker 1>could tell through concurrent players or whatever. But obviously a
<v Speaker 1>lot of people bought Slay the Spire too, So yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I think people just really want games that feel so
<v Speaker 1>substantial that they know that they're going to spend a
<v Speaker 1>lot of time with. And you know, you know, you
<v Speaker 1>compare that to something like like Sorrows at seventy dollars,
<v Speaker 1>I think people do just kind of talk themselves out
<v Speaker 1>of spending that amount of money, even if it is
<v Speaker 1>a game that most people tend to agree is fantastic.
<v Speaker 3>Most people seem to love Sorrows.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, people are pinching their pennies, and I don't
<v Speaker 1>think that is that means people are running away from
<v Speaker 1>video games. It just sounds like these bigger publishers are
<v Speaker 1>going to have to get a little bit more like
<v Speaker 1>looser with how they approach putting out video games. But
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, do they have it in them to
<v Speaker 1>like follow in the footsteps of something like a Subnautica
<v Speaker 1>or The Slave a Spire or is that almost a
<v Speaker 1>different language of making video games.
<v Speaker 2>It is a little different language because it's early access
<v Speaker 2>you know, and I know they all have their ways
<v Speaker 2>of kind of sort of doing early access, but like Dreams,
<v Speaker 2>I'm trying to think of other early access stuff on
<v Speaker 2>place right side, it's not very.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, PlayStation kind of had a no early access
<v Speaker 1>rule for quite some time. I think it soft softened it.
<v Speaker 1>Even if they don't have the equivalent of what Xbox,
<v Speaker 1>which is like the game preview thing, even that is
<v Speaker 1>a little bit more limited than Steam's just like put
<v Speaker 1>your game out and just tell people it's not finished
<v Speaker 1>and you could do whatever, and that's really worked out
<v Speaker 1>for Steam.
<v Speaker 3>But you're right, it's it's different, and.
<v Speaker 1>It's going to be difficult for these big companies to
<v Speaker 1>take their massive budgets and their proclivity to always hit
<v Speaker 1>home runs and kind of be like, we can do
<v Speaker 1>that if we make stuff that that is actually legitimate
<v Speaker 1>least like smaller but more focused or is unfinished and
<v Speaker 1>we listen to the community.
<v Speaker 3>They kind of can't get away with that.
<v Speaker 1>Like you, They've trained their audience to expect the biggest,
<v Speaker 1>most polished, most expensive video games, and it's just it's
<v Speaker 1>hard to put that toothpaste back in the tube.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm wondering if the best option for that type
<v Speaker 2>of thing in the future is like State of the
<v Speaker 2>K three if they're released, just kind of like a cheaper,
<v Speaker 2>scrappier State of K three. We don't need this to
<v Speaker 2>be a huge MMO. We don't need that zombie deer
<v Speaker 2>running an eight K whatever the hell's going on there,
<v Speaker 2>you know. And it's like maybe there would be a
<v Speaker 2>lane that they could pick just have like, hey, early access,
<v Speaker 2>get out there for a cheap price and see if
<v Speaker 2>it could gain momentum.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, this is another thing about early access.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I see people in Chad saying it, and
<v Speaker 1>I don't blame anyone who's been burned before not wanting
<v Speaker 1>to ever buy early access again. But clearly it seems
<v Speaker 1>like a lot of people do not feel that way.
<v Speaker 1>I don't want to say most people, but it seems
<v Speaker 1>like a lot of people just do not feel that way.
<v Speaker 1>They feel like they are getting something out of early access.
<v Speaker 1>At the very least, you're getting a game that might
<v Speaker 1>might not be finished, but you're getting out of a
<v Speaker 1>price that typically is lower than what it will be
<v Speaker 1>when it goes into one point. Oh, that usually is
<v Speaker 1>how things go. They'll like raise it by ten dollars
<v Speaker 1>or something. So yeah, I think people are just happy
<v Speaker 1>to get in there and see what's going on and
<v Speaker 1>be a part of not maybe not part of the development,
<v Speaker 1>but part of the story of how the game did
<v Speaker 1>develop over time.
<v Speaker 3>And Sobodica is sort of a poster child for that.
<v Speaker 2>And even thinking of debt A's Disco, which launched in
<v Speaker 2>like a pretty rough early access version, you know, not
<v Speaker 2>too long ago here, and it seems like that's kicking
<v Speaker 2>butt two. Like I've seen so many you know, YouTube
<v Speaker 2>videos pop up my feed where it's like, hey, here's
<v Speaker 2>a Michael Jackson song with Dena Diisco and it has
<v Speaker 2>like eight hundred thousand views. You know. It just seems
<v Speaker 2>like it's a self generating promotion machine at this point,
<v Speaker 2>with people being able to upload their own music.
<v Speaker 1>So yep, I hope. So I would love to see
<v Speaker 1>even more of that. It feels like that game is
<v Speaker 1>going to get over the hump there. It just needs
<v Speaker 1>a little bit more time.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, for sure.
<v Speaker 1>All that all right, let's keep going here. Two unannounced
<v Speaker 1>Xbox controller's surface including the Elite Series three and a
<v Speaker 1>cloud gaming pad. This is from Jordan Midler at VGC.
<v Speaker 1>Images of what reportedly show two new Xbox controllers have
<v Speaker 1>appeared online, including an Elite Series three and what is
<v Speaker 1>claimed to be an Xbox Cloud gaming controller. Images posted
<v Speaker 1>by techno Blog claim to show two new peripherals from Microsoft,
<v Speaker 1>one of which would be a continuation of its popular
<v Speaker 1>Premium controller line, and another which would mark a new
<v Speaker 1>line of controllers from the publisher. The so called Xbox
<v Speaker 1>Cloud Controller features a flat, rectangular pad kind of reminds
<v Speaker 1>me of a like an eight bit dot controller. There's
<v Speaker 1>total some that are in the style of this. It's
<v Speaker 1>it's got two smaller grips on either side, not substantial grips.
<v Speaker 1>The controller seemingly features all the buttons of a standard
<v Speaker 1>Xbox controller, but in a much smaller form factor. I
<v Speaker 1>guess because maybe people might throw it into a bag
<v Speaker 1>like a laptop bag or something in your pocket.
<v Speaker 2>I guess analog sticks sliding into your pocket.
<v Speaker 1>Everyone knows that feels awful. Yes, I'll do it, but
<v Speaker 1>I'm a monster. Let's see here.
<v Speaker 3>They yes.
<v Speaker 1>They also say that the the triggers and shoulder buttons
<v Speaker 1>are much more like, much more joycn like. The top
<v Speaker 1>of the controller features a new button the next to
<v Speaker 1>a cloud logo which appears to hint at what the
<v Speaker 1>controller will be used for. People are speculating and that
<v Speaker 1>button will switch between a direct connection to a console
<v Speaker 1>or PC and then a direct connection over Wi Fi
<v Speaker 1>to the cloud server. You know, we've seen that in
<v Speaker 1>the Statey controller. There's Amazon Luna had a controller like
<v Speaker 1>that as well. Everyone's talking about Amazon Luna, and like,
<v Speaker 1>I still get that idea, and I get that idea
<v Speaker 1>for this pad in particular, but does this feel like
<v Speaker 1>maybe and we'll get to the Elite Series three here
<v Speaker 1>in a second, but does this feel like maybe part
<v Speaker 1>of a strategy that is left over where they're like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>we have to have our cloud controller for where cloud
<v Speaker 1>is going to be really really big for us, and
<v Speaker 1>now it's not as big anymore, and they're still they
<v Speaker 1>still have this thing.
<v Speaker 3>Is that what we think?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, it is. It is weird. There are so
<v Speaker 2>many things that were kind of on the runway, and
<v Speaker 2>now that things are changing drastically, it does just feel
<v Speaker 2>like how much is Asha Sharma and the new team
<v Speaker 2>going to get behind this kind of stuff? Even I mean,
<v Speaker 2>you talked about the BombCast. I feel like, you know,
<v Speaker 2>but even that idea of making the next Xbox more
<v Speaker 2>open and more PC Like it's like, does it feel
<v Speaker 2>like that's the priority or the messaging that the new
<v Speaker 2>team is passionate about? And it can still they can
<v Speaker 2>still square that circle, but it does feel a little
<v Speaker 2>bit like this is in the Everything's an Xbox design
<v Speaker 2>era being yore.
<v Speaker 3>That definitely does.
<v Speaker 1>And it's so it's like, how are they going to,
<v Speaker 1>you know, threat that needle if both of these things
<v Speaker 1>get announced at like the upcoming Xbox showcase, that will
<v Speaker 1>that will happen around Summer Game Fest. I'm very curious
<v Speaker 1>to see. I really don't know what that messaging would
<v Speaker 1>look like. The Elite Series three. Meanwhile, it's similar to
<v Speaker 1>the second series controller of you know, this is their
<v Speaker 1>premium range, you know, one hundred and eighty to two
<v Speaker 1>hundred and twenty dollars. I want to say, I can't
<v Speaker 1>remember what they where it's priced these days. It's see,
<v Speaker 1>it does have a scroll wheels underneath, like on the
<v Speaker 1>base of the controller kind of where you're like the
<v Speaker 1>you know, the the the crook of your thumb and
<v Speaker 1>index finger, like where that would go. And it's like,
<v Speaker 1>I do wonder about those Sean again was telling me
<v Speaker 1>It's like he thinks that those are for adjusting the
<v Speaker 1>tension on the analog sticks. And I could see that
<v Speaker 1>because it's like, if you're playing a game, going down
<v Speaker 1>there and messing with the scroll wheel doesn't doesn't feel great.
<v Speaker 1>But I guess if you were just a gating stuff,
<v Speaker 1>I guess why why do you need two of them?
<v Speaker 1>Then that's the thing. I don't know why why you
<v Speaker 1>need two scroll wheels.
<v Speaker 2>As somebody who is a fan of the Steam controller,
<v Speaker 2>do you feel like we're kind of just overdesigning controllers
<v Speaker 2>at this point? It's just becoming the Homer car.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean I think like, uh, maybe the Steam controller
<v Speaker 1>sort of gave everyone else maybe a green light to
<v Speaker 1>do that. The Steam controller just makes a ton of
<v Speaker 1>sense when you when you turn on a PC and
<v Speaker 1>you need just one device to control a PC and
<v Speaker 1>like open up Steam and the Steam controllers like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>we got the track pads and it's gonna register as
<v Speaker 1>a mouse and keyboard until you open up Steam so
<v Speaker 1>that you don't have to like futz with anything else.
<v Speaker 1>It's just the computer's gonna be able to recognize it.
<v Speaker 1>All that stuff just makes a ton of sense and
<v Speaker 1>it fits with its use case. Uh, this stuff feels
<v Speaker 1>like we can get away with this now because controllers
<v Speaker 1>look like the Homer.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, I do think that there's something to that. Ben.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and that' said you know, I do want a
<v Speaker 2>Steam controller. I do want to mess around with this
<v Speaker 2>stuff a little bit. Yeah, it's it's also very petty.
<v Speaker 2>But just seeing gut reactions of the Xbox Lead three here,
<v Speaker 2>it's like, just the depad still weirds me out, just
<v Speaker 2>the whole circular thing. I just I know that how that's.
<v Speaker 1>It's definitely going to be You're definitely gonna be able
<v Speaker 1>to swap them out, of course, so like your question
<v Speaker 1>will be like what is the underlying like membrane mechanism
<v Speaker 1>that they're using to read inputs, and that could still
<v Speaker 1>be very good and you'll be able to swap it,
<v Speaker 1>swap it out for those shape of deepad.
<v Speaker 3>That you actually do like.
<v Speaker 1>But this default one, this circular pad with like the
<v Speaker 1>little uh you know, nubs that stick out so you
<v Speaker 1>know where northwest and south east and south are. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's a little bit like, Oh, I just don't like
<v Speaker 1>the way that feels, especially if I'm moving my thumb
<v Speaker 1>around a dpad for fighting games, but yeah, you know,
<v Speaker 1>it doesn't necessarily feel like this controller was made for
<v Speaker 1>fighting games. Yeah, look, I think that we will probably
<v Speaker 1>hear about these at Summer Game Fest or around that time.
<v Speaker 1>Xbox has had a lot of luck selling controllers, like
<v Speaker 1>if you know, for all the talk about Xbox hardware
<v Speaker 1>and the future of the Xbox Console Xbox controller, no
<v Speaker 1>one really complains about those all too much other than
<v Speaker 1>maybe the build quality of the Elite, And then they
<v Speaker 1>have been adopted as the default controller on PC for
<v Speaker 1>a very long time now, a very long time, and.
<v Speaker 3>I think that is a business that they business that they.
<v Speaker 1>Don't want to lose because controllers typically have high margins,
<v Speaker 1>way better margins than selling actual consoles. But you kind
<v Speaker 1>of need to sell consoles really to still sell controllers.
<v Speaker 1>So it feels like, yeah, that they will like to
<v Speaker 1>have these things so they can have them in game
<v Speaker 1>stops and still make some money from them.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know how you get people too excited about
<v Speaker 1>new controllers beyond I guess the Steam controller did, so
<v Speaker 1>it can work.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, I don't really know. What do you think? Then?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>I am curious, like and I'm sorry to be so
<v Speaker 2>petty and shallow. But I think about it in terms
<v Speaker 2>of what is Asha Sharma tweeting about? You know, I
<v Speaker 2>don't use tweeter anymore, but like several times we're like,
<v Speaker 2>I want to see just what she's pumping out there,
<v Speaker 2>which she's messaging, not a lot of kill and love,
<v Speaker 2>which he's stamming. I wish I saw it coming from
<v Speaker 2>her account, you know. But it's like, will she tweet
<v Speaker 2>out about the cloud controller or is there gonna be
<v Speaker 2>one of those things of like, hey, yeah, we're trying
<v Speaker 2>to focus on cool Xbox brand stuff again, and messaging
<v Speaker 2>cloud controllers seems like the antithesis of her trying to
<v Speaker 2>ingratiate herself with the cool gamer crowd, you know.
<v Speaker 3>Yep. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>There's also some like maybe like new design language on
<v Speaker 1>some of these controllers. We'll see if that's something that
<v Speaker 1>will hold true when these things actually launch. These could
<v Speaker 1>be you know, these could be prototypes. I believe these
<v Speaker 1>controllers were leaked because they were submitted to like electric
<v Speaker 1>electronics ratings agencies that will rate like how much interference
<v Speaker 1>they have and stuff like that. So there's no guarantee
<v Speaker 1>that what we're looking at will be what the final
<v Speaker 1>controllers actually end up looking like, but we'll see very soon.
<v Speaker 2>How cute though, if it was like a mini duke?
<v Speaker 2>Can you imagine like a duke with the size of
<v Speaker 2>a chocon. Wouldn't that be cute? Don't you want to
<v Speaker 2>touch a little duke?
<v Speaker 3>Put it on my keychain? Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely, yeah, yeah, swinging around like a weapon. Still, it's
<v Speaker 1>still like Weigte fifteen for some reason, I would love that.
<v Speaker 1>All Right, we're gonna take a quick break. We'll come
<v Speaker 1>back talk about more headlines after this. If you want
<v Speaker 1>to skip out on these ad messages, giant bomb dot com,
<v Speaker 1>slash join or become a YouTube member.
<v Speaker 3>We will be right back. We are back.
<v Speaker 1>It's Game mess Mornings. I'm Jeff Grubb. That's Ben Hanson.
<v Speaker 1>Let's get back into these headlines with Lego two K
<v Speaker 1>Drive is being delisted from digital storefronts next week. This
<v Speaker 1>is from Atlanta Alana Haggs at Nintendo Life. Lego two
<v Speaker 1>K Drive is a fun little racer, perhaps not as
<v Speaker 1>open as we expected, but it's creative, bright, and a
<v Speaker 1>great to play with kids. But as of next week,
<v Speaker 1>it looks like you won't be able to buy the
<v Speaker 1>game from digital storefronts like the E Shop Anymore spoted
<v Speaker 1>by dlisted games a disclaimer for visual concepts. Lego Racer
<v Speaker 1>has popped up on Steam, the Epic Game Store, PSN,
<v Speaker 1>and Xbox, stating that you won't be able to purchase
<v Speaker 1>the game as of the nineteenth of May twenty twenty six.
<v Speaker 1>Online service will remain open until May thirty first, twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty seven. At the time of this writing, the shop
<v Speaker 1>doesn't have the disclaimer. I believe it did get the
<v Speaker 1>disclaimer since they posted this. Hey, this has happened with
<v Speaker 1>other racing and driving games been We've seen them get
<v Speaker 1>those delisted forts of games. It's happened to them a
<v Speaker 1>bunch of times, and it seems like the reason is
<v Speaker 1>always licensed cars. So I went and looked to see
<v Speaker 1>does Lego Drive, Lego two K drive have licensed cars?
<v Speaker 3>And it does.
<v Speaker 1>It's I guess it's not like a time there's McLaren's,
<v Speaker 1>there's Dodges, and there's Nissans and ben I just got
<v Speaker 1>like part of me and this is definitely me, being
<v Speaker 1>someone who's way more into video games than he is
<v Speaker 1>into cars.
<v Speaker 3>Where does the auto industry get off on this?
<v Speaker 2>Like?
<v Speaker 1>Come on, like who cares if your car is still
<v Speaker 1>playable in a video game ten years from now? Like,
<v Speaker 1>why does how does that affect anything? How does it
<v Speaker 1>hurt you? Do you really need to keep getting paid
<v Speaker 1>for that?
<v Speaker 3>It doesn't.
<v Speaker 1>It just doesn't make a difference. But apparently that's how
<v Speaker 1>these contracts have worked over and over and over again,
<v Speaker 1>and it puts us in situation where these games do
<v Speaker 1>get delisted.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, bizarre, right, Yeah, you can't let go two K drive?
<v Speaker 2>Can we have just something built into the code? Like
<v Speaker 2>ten years down the road, these cars will magically transform,
<v Speaker 2>you know, the decals, hood, ornament will pop off, It'll
<v Speaker 2>have some weird lumps on it. Just I don't care
<v Speaker 2>what this car looks like, especially for the lego stuff.
<v Speaker 2>It's such a bummer for this stuff to be to
<v Speaker 2>be nukes from orbit just for you know, music or
<v Speaker 2>the car rights.
<v Speaker 3>You know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I just tell you building the trap doors to
<v Speaker 1>deal with that, right, Like just like predict that this
<v Speaker 1>will happen and like on this date, those those cars, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>just do that. But I guess people can still buy
<v Speaker 1>the original version.
<v Speaker 2>Who cares?
<v Speaker 3>I just I still don't get why anyone cares.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, And it's a bummer too, because I like
<v Speaker 2>this game. You know, before you I was like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>this is a cool game to play with kids. I
<v Speaker 2>thought it was a nice experience, split screen, kind of
<v Speaker 2>open worldish going around and stuff. But it makes me
<v Speaker 2>think about like my gut reaction was like, oh, this
<v Speaker 2>is probably the real sign of the game didn't sell
<v Speaker 2>that well. And I don't know if they ever really
<v Speaker 2>sales for this thing over.
<v Speaker 3>I don't. I don't think it did. I don't think
<v Speaker 3>it did fantastic.
<v Speaker 1>That's that's my general memory of like the weeks following
<v Speaker 1>the game, and then you know, I don't think it
<v Speaker 1>ever sort of recovered from there, but I did not
<v Speaker 1>check in on it again at the very least spend
<v Speaker 1>I think you're right that this says it did not
<v Speaker 1>sell enough to sort of hassle themselves at Visual Concepts
<v Speaker 1>with fixing whatever would be required to be fixed.
<v Speaker 3>To keep the game up and running.
<v Speaker 1>It was just it's more cost effective to everyone involved
<v Speaker 1>to just delist this thing and forget about it and
<v Speaker 1>move on. And you know that's true for big racing
<v Speaker 1>games like Fordstep, but those have hundreds of licensed cars.
<v Speaker 3>That one.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, it's easier to kind of understand how that happens,
<v Speaker 1>even if it's still really stupid that you have to
<v Speaker 1>delist it because you have licensed cars for this game,
<v Speaker 1>it doesn't seem like it's the bulk of the drivable vehicles.
<v Speaker 3>But I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe there's more than these ones I
<v Speaker 1>saw here, But I don't know. Do you where do
<v Speaker 1>you think like these kinds of family based or even
<v Speaker 1>just non core racing games are at Like Lego two
<v Speaker 1>K Drive really felt like it was coming in a
<v Speaker 1>moment where arcade racers were resurgent. Yeah, but I guess
<v Speaker 1>that doesn't mean that all of them are guaranteed to sell.
<v Speaker 2>No, I'm with you, and like, I really love Screamer
<v Speaker 2>that came out this year. I want to go back
<v Speaker 2>to it. Playing Forts and six is reminded me like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>that's right, I need to finish Screamers campaign because that
<v Speaker 2>is one that I do want to roll credits on.
<v Speaker 2>Just got that story focus and stuff. But it makes
<v Speaker 2>me think as well of Lego Party, a game I
<v Speaker 2>know you all love and it's like and it's so
<v Speaker 2>great and it's going after Mario Party the same way
<v Speaker 2>this is going after Mario Kart and I feel like
<v Speaker 2>both went at the King and got decapitated sales wise,
<v Speaker 2>you know, And it's a bummer because they're both well
<v Speaker 2>done and I don't know what the lesson here is
<v Speaker 2>if Lego and a well designed game can't try and
<v Speaker 2>take a tiny slice of that Nintendo pie like who.
<v Speaker 1>Can Yep, yeah for sure. And now for Lego Party,
<v Speaker 1>it seems like they have. That's like one of the
<v Speaker 1>few Lego games recently that has not been like, let's
<v Speaker 1>rely on some license stuff. Is there anything in there
<v Speaker 1>that is license like like equivalent to like a McLaren
<v Speaker 1>or something like that, Not that I can think of.
<v Speaker 2>I would think so, Yeah, hot dogs in general, I
<v Speaker 2>don't think that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's just those Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean maybe maybe that's one of the reasons the
<v Speaker 1>game didn't do well. I Mean, Chap pointed out like
<v Speaker 1>Lego games typically do need a license to make people care,
<v Speaker 1>and that's that's unfortunate because Lego is just popular. But
<v Speaker 1>Lego has really shifted into a vehicle for IP and
<v Speaker 1>that's one of the reasons it's grown recently, and now
<v Speaker 1>people kind of like, I don't get excited about Lego
<v Speaker 1>unless it's attached to some other thing, And yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>do feel like that one might be one of the
<v Speaker 1>reasons Lego Party could not find its audience.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I remember visiting Travelers Tales Old TT games back at
<v Speaker 2>Game Informer for the cover story on Lego Marvel Superheroes,
<v Speaker 2>I think, and just talking with those folks about Lego
<v Speaker 2>and whatnot, and they said at that time, maybe it's
<v Speaker 2>shifted since then. They said at that time that the
<v Speaker 2>best selling Lego sets were Lego City.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I yes, I bet they were.
<v Speaker 1>But it's like I think it probably has shifted because
<v Speaker 1>like Lego City Undercover did really well at that time too,
<v Speaker 1>Like that was a very popular game.
<v Speaker 3>They haven't really followed up with that now.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe that's just leadership being like we like working with
<v Speaker 1>IP and we see the potential for growth and Lego
<v Speaker 1>City and Lego Space stuff can continue selling over the
<v Speaker 1>over there. That's just not the sense I get.
<v Speaker 3>I am.
<v Speaker 1>You know, this is especially frustrating because this game is
<v Speaker 1>only three years old. It's three years old, and to
<v Speaker 1>get delisted, you know, and that's deals to digitally that
<v Speaker 1>this is something where like we talked about like this
<v Speaker 1>is the problem with digital games, but like there was
<v Speaker 1>a time where like there were no digital options and
<v Speaker 1>the game would just disappear from store shelves and would
<v Speaker 1>never you never be able to find it new again. So,
<v Speaker 1>while this is a still annoying games, going away from
<v Speaker 1>being able to be purchased new is not some new
<v Speaker 1>like new thing. It's just doesn't feel like it should
<v Speaker 1>work that way. It's like, you got it out there,
<v Speaker 1>you did the work, we should be able to give
<v Speaker 1>you money to get access to that. Regardless of what
<v Speaker 1>you know McLaren and Dodge have to say, it just
<v Speaker 1>continues to frustrate me quite a bit.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, on the on the two K front, Yeah, maybe
<v Speaker 2>I'm fascinated by this too much. But have you been
<v Speaker 2>following that Project Ethos thing? U?
<v Speaker 3>Remind me what that is?
<v Speaker 2>This is it's from uh Michael Condrey who is over
<v Speaker 2>at Sledgehammer for a long time on call of duty
<v Speaker 2>and whatnot. But yeah, he left and formed a new
<v Speaker 2>studio two K called thirty first Union, I believe. And
<v Speaker 2>then they revealed in like a really quiet way, this
<v Speaker 2>free to play third person shooter called Project Ethos, and
<v Speaker 2>it's it hasn't officially been canceled. It's still up there, apparently,
<v Speaker 2>Condrey has been fired apparently and let go of the studio,
<v Speaker 2>and it's just like trying to get a grasp on
<v Speaker 2>what two K is doing right now. This is the
<v Speaker 2>one that I'm just fascinated by. It's kind of it
<v Speaker 2>feels like one of those Ubisoft projects. I'm just kind
<v Speaker 2>of like a diet trial balloon, you know.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, it looks a lot like one of those Ubisoft
<v Speaker 1>multiplayer shooters that was happening where God, I can't remember
<v Speaker 1>the one they had that was very like drenched a neon.
<v Speaker 3>This one looks a lot like that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Yeah, I don't know. It just just we're we're
<v Speaker 2>time for two K. I feel like i'ven Ober. There's
<v Speaker 2>this kind of bracing for GTA six to kick doors down.
<v Speaker 1>Michael Condrey was he was? Did he work on the
<v Speaker 1>dead Space games?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>Is that Visceral before Sledgshammer is, Yes.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, he was with he had that partner, yes, yeah, right,
<v Speaker 1>Glenn Schofield, Right, and they, Glenn Scofield and Michael Condrey
<v Speaker 1>do feel like they've had like just kind of nothing
<v Speaker 1>but trouble since all that stuff shook out from from the.
<v Speaker 2>Bad Boys Bad Boys. Yeah, and I don't know. I'd
<v Speaker 2>like to think that they're on good terms still, but
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if they're still buddies. But there was
<v Speaker 2>actually a good It was a caid On Door I
<v Speaker 2>think their name was. They made a good YouTube documentary
<v Speaker 2>about uh, It's great Call of Duty Modern Warfare three.
<v Speaker 2>Did you watch that? I have not been I know
<v Speaker 2>caid so yeah, oh awesome. Yeah, And that had both
<v Speaker 2>of them interviewed separately talking about Modern Warfare three, the
<v Speaker 2>original Modern Warfare three, and so I feel like I
<v Speaker 2>saw a lot of Condrey recently, but it's that video
<v Speaker 2>is a good reminders, like, yeah, that was a fascinating
<v Speaker 2>project on several fronts. Is like coming off the heels
<v Speaker 2>of the Lawsuit and Infinity Ward and then leading into
<v Speaker 2>the big league through Taku a mono war for three,
<v Speaker 2>and that games kind of crammed together weird nature. It's
<v Speaker 2>a sto video, all right.
<v Speaker 3>Let's stick with the two K.
<v Speaker 1>WWE two K developers hit hardest by visual concept layoffs.
<v Speaker 3>This is from Mike's straw at Insider Gaming.
<v Speaker 1>The layoffs at visual concepts appear to have hit the
<v Speaker 1>WWE development team more than those working on NBA two
<v Speaker 1>K Insider Gaming has learned that though the layoffs were
<v Speaker 1>company wide, the team working on WWE games haven't been
<v Speaker 1>hit the hardest. That includes both the main WWE two
<v Speaker 1>K team and those who worked on the WWE two
<v Speaker 1>K twenty five Netflix edition. As far as how many
<v Speaker 1>people were caught up in the layoffs, multiple sources have
<v Speaker 1>said it wasn't insignificant, but none were able to provide
<v Speaker 1>an actual number. Going back to the WWE two K
<v Speaker 1>twenty five Netflix Edition, despite it performing well in terms
<v Speaker 1>of downloads and reviews, sources within Netflix say that those
<v Speaker 1>in charge felt it didn't quote meet expectations. One source
<v Speaker 1>bluntly said they expected it to be something it was
<v Speaker 1>never designed to be. Mobile game sources say that despite
<v Speaker 1>promises for management at Take two painting a rosy picture
<v Speaker 1>of everything being fine, that wasn't truly the case. Leadership
<v Speaker 1>lied the whole time, saying that the game was fine
<v Speaker 1>and great. One source said. After the release of WWE
<v Speaker 1>two K twenty five Netflix Edition, Netflix opted not to
<v Speaker 1>renew its deal for Netflix editions of two K twenty
<v Speaker 1>six or WWE two K twenty seven. That left an
<v Speaker 1>entire team without projects moving forward. Netflix got their pop
<v Speaker 1>on the charts, another said, and then implying that once
<v Speaker 1>it got the pop like Netflix does, if it doesn't
<v Speaker 1>continue to grow, they don't care anymore and they cut
<v Speaker 1>their losses and run. Yeah, this one, I guess when
<v Speaker 1>you look at it from the side of Netflix lost
<v Speaker 1>interests and isn't gonna do those games anymore.
<v Speaker 3>It does.
<v Speaker 1>It makes some sense about like why the ww team
<v Speaker 1>got hit a little bit harder. But WWE those games
<v Speaker 1>sell really well, and I feel like this last one
<v Speaker 1>we heard sold extremely well, and yes I think it did.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, just is that like hype for WWE is on
<v Speaker 2>the upswing and just kind.
<v Speaker 3>Of run No.
<v Speaker 1>No, but the people who buy the games show up
<v Speaker 1>for the games, and this one I think they sell
<v Speaker 1>their annual releases that you could rely on them. It's
<v Speaker 1>weird that even those teams, though, are getting hit with layoffs.
<v Speaker 1>I think that's where, like, you know, if we take
<v Speaker 1>the Netflix side out of it, I'm still like, okay, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so the WWE core team also got hit with layoffs.
<v Speaker 3>So did the NBA team, I guess a little bit.
<v Speaker 1>It's just weird that, like, oh, I thought these would
<v Speaker 1>be the safe places for these people to go to
<v Speaker 1>work and even that is treacherous.
<v Speaker 2>Well yeah, and that's the studio that made two K
<v Speaker 2>Drive as well, you know, And so maybe I'm connecting
<v Speaker 2>these dots too much of thinking that's another reason why
<v Speaker 2>two K Drive didn't sell well and stuff. But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they were working on so many different games and for
<v Speaker 2>them to get that big of a blow, but I
<v Speaker 2>think it just falls into the camp of American developers
<v Speaker 2>in particular, especially in California. Yeah, the easiest to act
<v Speaker 2>by far because of those prices.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, is that where Visual Concepts is in California?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, that sounds right.
<v Speaker 1>I always like because for me, the sports developers, I
<v Speaker 1>always conflate Visual Concepts in Taburia or whatever the fuck
<v Speaker 1>they're called, and they're in Orlando.
<v Speaker 3>But it's like, yeah, that would still be expensive, all right.
<v Speaker 3>Uh yeah so w w.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, those games just sell to a different audience once again,
<v Speaker 1>as Chap points out, than actually people who are excited
<v Speaker 1>about the television show. And yeah, I think that last
<v Speaker 1>game did do very well. They I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>they're ever like if they end the year on like
<v Speaker 1>the top ten chart from Circanna, but they're close at
<v Speaker 1>the very least and.
<v Speaker 2>The aw game what they come out like two years
<v Speaker 2>ago or something. Has that just been like in that
<v Speaker 2>silent since are they Are they ever going to make
<v Speaker 2>another one?
<v Speaker 1>Uh? Yeah, I think I think they might make another
<v Speaker 1>one one day, but that it did not sell in
<v Speaker 1>such a way where the guaranteed that they would get
<v Speaker 1>to work on another one right away.
<v Speaker 2>So and that's like for shoot that has yes.
<v Speaker 3>That is for shoot. Uh And it's uh, it's not
<v Speaker 3>dumb crap, it's Carney talk.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, that's that.
<v Speaker 1>Carney's around here, Noble Carney talk. Noble Carny is respected
<v Speaker 1>at Giant Bomb. Marathon is getting two new PvE modes
<v Speaker 1>in season two. This is from Insider Gaming. Bungee has
<v Speaker 1>revealed that Marathon is slated to get two new experimental
<v Speaker 1>PvE modes going into season two, which is named Nightfall.
<v Speaker 1>Where are we at with PV? Should we explain what
<v Speaker 1>that is? There's a chance that someone listening doesn't know
<v Speaker 1>what PvE is. I so, yeah, yeah, PV would just
<v Speaker 1>be like cooperative multiplayer with no other enemies that are
<v Speaker 1>people coming to kill you. That would be PvP player
<v Speaker 1>versus player. This is player versus the environment. So just
<v Speaker 1>think of it as a typical cooperative mode. You might think, hey,
<v Speaker 1>that's not what Marathon was advertised as. That was Marathon
<v Speaker 1>was supposed to be. You go into the world and
<v Speaker 1>the major primary threat is other players, and that's where
<v Speaker 1>all of the conflict comes from. But Marathon might be
<v Speaker 1>in a situation where they're like, God, this game. We
<v Speaker 1>know the people who love it love it, and they
<v Speaker 1>think it's really, really, really good, and there seems to
<v Speaker 1>be this odd dance that is sort of like tepid
<v Speaker 1>about trying it. They are trepidacious about it, like going
<v Speaker 1>in there and spending their money forty dollars on this
<v Speaker 1>game that they might be too intimidated by. How can
<v Speaker 1>we make it friendlier? And it's like, well, Marathon's not
<v Speaker 1>supposed to be friendly. Do you have a sort of
<v Speaker 1>a vision problem here where it's like it was meant
<v Speaker 1>to be one thing and now you need it to
<v Speaker 1>be something else in order to reach a certain sales
<v Speaker 1>milestone that you're trying to get to. Obviously, they have
<v Speaker 1>to try some stuff if they need this game to
<v Speaker 1>be making more money.
<v Speaker 3>But do you think this is the right move? Ben?
<v Speaker 2>I think it's I don't know, is the fan base
<v Speaker 2>outraged about how dare you try stuff? It feels like
<v Speaker 2>this is the time when you try some new modes,
<v Speaker 2>see what catches on. When the game has like, as
<v Speaker 2>they put it, like a passionate player base, people do
<v Speaker 2>love it. It just needs something else to break out
<v Speaker 2>of orbit. And I feel like it's the right time
<v Speaker 2>for like, let's try some variants, not take anything away
<v Speaker 2>from the core modes that people like, but see if
<v Speaker 2>something can get more people through this door.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think that's you know, I think most people
<v Speaker 1>like people. Again in chatter, Sam not outraged. This is
<v Speaker 1>the kind of thing where I will just play the
<v Speaker 1>way I want to play, and I bet even many
<v Speaker 1>people who do do play PvP will be would be
<v Speaker 1>willing to try this out. I think back to the
<v Speaker 1>last game I remember doing this where it was a
<v Speaker 1>little bit weird.
<v Speaker 3>Was Sea of Thieves to see if Thieves was.
<v Speaker 1>Like the whole idea of that game is to get
<v Speaker 1>into interactions with other players. Like they kind of don't
<v Speaker 1>have a lot of real progression because they just wanted
<v Speaker 1>to keep up pure experience of like you're in there
<v Speaker 1>with other players and that's where the magic happens and
<v Speaker 1>people are like, yeah, but a lot of other players
<v Speaker 1>are super big assholes and I just want to feel
<v Speaker 1>good about collecting my treasures. And those years of just
<v Speaker 1>like well, yeah, but that's not the game, and then
<v Speaker 1>one day it was the game, and I don't think
<v Speaker 1>that necessarily seemed to hurt See of thieves, See if
<v Speaker 1>these had established what it was about for a certain audience.
<v Speaker 1>And then it like for the people that were intimidated
<v Speaker 1>or felt mistreated by other players, they could go have
<v Speaker 1>their siloed off experience with the just their friends. And
<v Speaker 1>it's like, yeah, okay, it seems like adding more should
<v Speaker 1>not take away from the core thing that you're trying
<v Speaker 1>to do. But that was after years marathon. It does
<v Speaker 1>feel like pretty quick shifting of gears. But I think
<v Speaker 1>I agree with you Ben that like, now's the time
<v Speaker 1>to do this. Just give it a shot and see
<v Speaker 1>what happens.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, just put a death match mode in there. Let
<v Speaker 2>everybody make the concord comparisons. Just head right at it.
<v Speaker 2>Look call me a heretic or whatever you want. The
<v Speaker 2>chet but like I bounced off a marathon, I wanted
<v Speaker 2>to like it. I think it's cool as hell. You know,
<v Speaker 2>the vibes are fantastic. I just didn't want to play anymore.
<v Speaker 2>But I was like, you know, if there was just
<v Speaker 2>like a simple stupid death match mode, like the shooting
<v Speaker 2>feels so good, I think I jumped back in for that.
<v Speaker 2>But I understand I'm probably way in the minority there.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, I don't.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, there's definitely people who feel that way or
<v Speaker 1>just like the idea of I get that this game
<v Speaker 1>is supposed to be about interactions with other players, but
<v Speaker 1>what if I just like going in there and shooting
<v Speaker 1>like video game characters and collecting stuff, And it's like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>there's been a lot of games that play that, so
<v Speaker 1>that being the thing that you like makes a ton
<v Speaker 1>of sense. And this game being from a studio that's
<v Speaker 1>done games like that before, yeah, makes a ton of sense.
<v Speaker 1>I mean that, I mean that was what Destiny was.
<v Speaker 1>Destiny had a death match mood, but you know, its
<v Speaker 1>main thing was PvE and then they found ways to
<v Speaker 1>bring PvP into it, for sure. But yeah, so I
<v Speaker 1>think there's people who'ld be like, of course, that's what
<v Speaker 1>I want from Bungie, and it makes sense. Yeah, all right,
<v Speaker 1>Square Enix wants to further promote its multi platform strategy,
<v Speaker 1>especially on switch to. I feel like we talked about
<v Speaker 1>the story pretty frequently, but the fact that they keep
<v Speaker 1>reiterating it, I think it's worth bringing up. Square Enix
<v Speaker 1>has already shown strong support for the switch to with
<v Speaker 1>major series such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, and
<v Speaker 1>it won't be stopping anytime soon, according to the company's CEO,
<v Speaker 1>Takashi Kiriu. Following the Third Parties the Third Party Giant's
<v Speaker 1>latest financial results here you noted how the plan was
<v Speaker 1>to continue the company's multi platform strategy, especially on Nintendo's
<v Speaker 1>new hybrid Heart where here's the scoop courtesy of senior
<v Speaker 1>ANOST David Gibson, who was I think in the room
<v Speaker 1>listening to the Curio talk about this. We will polish
<v Speaker 1>promising ips and so that we can deliver certain upside
<v Speaker 1>from those new ips. On top of that, we'd like
<v Speaker 1>to further promote the multi platform strategy, especially on the
<v Speaker 1>switch to.
<v Speaker 3>Uh switch to Excuse me, it is almost a year old.
<v Speaker 1>It is at a point now where I think Third
<v Speaker 1>Party has got a good grasp and not just on
<v Speaker 1>working on making games for the system ben but kind
<v Speaker 1>of what they can expect from the audience who purchases
<v Speaker 1>Switch to games, and I do think if there is
<v Speaker 1>a third party publisher that is fit to match up
<v Speaker 1>with that audience, it does feel like it should be
<v Speaker 1>Square Enix. I think that people like playing JRPGs on
<v Speaker 1>a handheld. That is something that is that I know
<v Speaker 1>multiple people in my life who feel that way and
<v Speaker 1>switched and switched to became their GRPG machine where applicable,
<v Speaker 1>and it just, unfortunately in most cases, was not applicable
<v Speaker 1>to Square Enix games Square Innex spotting this is an opportunity.
<v Speaker 1>I'm glad that they are sticking with it, even through
<v Speaker 1>this like early time period where we look at how
<v Speaker 1>third party games are doing on switch to and a
<v Speaker 1>lot of times it's head scratching. It's like this game
<v Speaker 1>seems like it might be doing really well, and this
<v Speaker 1>game that's on the card crushed and this other one didn't.
<v Speaker 1>And it's just hard to like read the tea leaves here.
<v Speaker 1>But I think square x is right to keep pursuing it.
<v Speaker 1>What do you think, Yeah, I think you're right.
<v Speaker 2>It is odd. It's like okay, cyberpunk, I think did
<v Speaker 2>okay on there? You know, I was in the airport
<v Speaker 2>a little while ago, and I saw some kid next
<v Speaker 2>to me playing switch To, and of course, like a creeper,
<v Speaker 2>I'm always like, I got to look atee you, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>what's up to? And he was playing hip Man. I
<v Speaker 2>was switched and I was like.
<v Speaker 3>Sweetly, that's awesome.
<v Speaker 2>Ten year old kid playing hit Man. All right, I'm
<v Speaker 2>all for it. I'm all for the violence. Why not?
<v Speaker 2>But it is fun to think of like the big
<v Speaker 2>picture too, of just like if you want to go
<v Speaker 2>back to Super Nintendo PlayStation, the idea of the betrayal
<v Speaker 2>of a Final Fantasy leaving Nintendo behind, and now they're
<v Speaker 2>coming crawling back saying we need to be on that system.
<v Speaker 2>And so I'm curious typically if Final Fantasy seven remake
<v Speaker 2>Part three will launch day and date on switch To.
<v Speaker 1>I think I'm pretty sure it's going to, Like it
<v Speaker 1>feels like that's what they keep setting this all up. Like, Honestly,
<v Speaker 1>at this point, it would be a little weird to
<v Speaker 1>keep talking this way and not have that game ready
<v Speaker 1>for switch To.
<v Speaker 3>And I think the only reason it.
<v Speaker 1>Would be the case, or that would be the case,
<v Speaker 1>is if it just is a little bit of a
<v Speaker 1>headache to get that game up and running on switch To,
<v Speaker 1>which is maybe possible.
<v Speaker 2>But I'm sure it is.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean yeah, but between remake and Rebirth, it's like, Okay, Rebirth, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>a little bit more of a downgrade because it was
<v Speaker 1>more ambitious, and we would expect the third one to
<v Speaker 1>be even more so. But they're sticking with the same engine,
<v Speaker 1>they're sticking with the same tools, and now they know
<v Speaker 1>that they're putting this thing out on the switch too,
<v Speaker 1>And it's not like we're like months away from that
<v Speaker 1>game coming now. It feels like it's a little bit
<v Speaker 1>more than that. I guess maybe this thing is coming
<v Speaker 1>out before the end of this year.
<v Speaker 3>I guess.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, But even in that case, I think
<v Speaker 1>they would try to have it ready for the switch To.
<v Speaker 2>I think they're going to wait until next year for
<v Speaker 2>the three Nursery. I think that makes sense for easy messaging.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, I'm trying to remember, I mean, on the
<v Speaker 2>square front for this year, it's like The Adventures of Elliott,
<v Speaker 2>our dear boy, Elliott. Oh, how we love him.
<v Speaker 3>We think about Elliott constantly over here.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, rest in peace, Elliott or whatever you're doing.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, probably dying.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, But like I think that, but I think that
<v Speaker 2>was like an intended direct reveal, Right, wasn't then one
<v Speaker 2>of the Nintendo indies. So it seems like they're already
<v Speaker 2>right bring up and buddying up in that way. So
<v Speaker 2>that'll be the big push i'd imagine for this year.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Philibildia, that's right, Go go builds. That's what we say.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Oh man H.
<v Speaker 1>Elliott is a Philadelphia name for sure. A filibility excuse me,
<v Speaker 1>I yeah, I think this is financial report from Scoring
<v Speaker 1>Nix was a lot of good, like raise of sunshine
<v Speaker 1>for them, because I think there was a couple of
<v Speaker 1>years in the past there where they released a lot
<v Speaker 1>of games and they all sort of mushed together I
<v Speaker 1>think in people's minds, and they, like many of them
<v Speaker 1>did not perform well. And now out of this financial report,
<v Speaker 1>Squorinicks saying that Final Fantasy Tactics and Dragon Quest one
<v Speaker 1>to two and one, two, three, and maybe seven reimagined
<v Speaker 1>all did pretty well.
<v Speaker 3>So Square Nicks is saying that that's they never say
<v Speaker 3>that about their games.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, okay, maybe they have beginn begun to figure
<v Speaker 1>out the best way to dole these games out, how
<v Speaker 1>to find their audience how to talk to that audience again.
<v Speaker 1>And it's gonna help being on the switch to because
<v Speaker 1>the audiences do match up quite a ton.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, well, it's the old classic. If it was a
<v Speaker 2>Western developer Earth and Square that made it, they would
<v Speaker 2>say it's sold like dog shit, But that's true.
<v Speaker 1>These are okay, t y tales, oldest time. All right,
<v Speaker 1>let's get these last few stories here. They're quicker ones
<v Speaker 1>PS plus May catalog include Star Wars Outlaws, Red Dead,
<v Speaker 1>Redemption two, and Time Crisis. I am a Star Wars
<v Speaker 1>Outlaws a defender, so that's the main reason I'm putting
<v Speaker 1>that in here. May nineteenth is when I think these
<v Speaker 1>games should begin dropping worth pointing out Time Crisis. That
<v Speaker 1>is a classic game, so that's premium only. The other games,
<v Speaker 1>including or not including Time Crisis would be on the
<v Speaker 1>middle tier, which I can never remember what that's called.
<v Speaker 1>No one I could Yeah, extra, yes, plus extra, I
<v Speaker 1>wrote it down.
<v Speaker 3>I should I just read that. Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>Do you feel like everyone good games? Happy they're on?
<v Speaker 2>There are people? Is the average gamer paying attention to it?
<v Speaker 3>Still?
<v Speaker 2>I feel like it's just got to be a blur,
<v Speaker 2>right like me, Like they're preys.
<v Speaker 1>Like this week if you're a game Pass subscriber on Ultimate,
<v Speaker 1>you're gonna get a Subnautica two and Fort's a Horizon six.
<v Speaker 1>I think people, I think they pay attention to that
<v Speaker 1>that still feels good getting these games months later. I
<v Speaker 1>think there is definitely an audience that's just like, hell yeah,
<v Speaker 1>this is the reason I have PlayStation Plus Extra. They
<v Speaker 1>put it the games in there around the time when
<v Speaker 1>I would be looking to spend maybe twenty dollars on
<v Speaker 1>them anyhow, and so here they are and I could
<v Speaker 1>just play them as part of this thing that I
<v Speaker 1>already have in part to like play Call of Duty
<v Speaker 1>or to play my basketball game online or something like that.
<v Speaker 1>So there are there, There are those people out there
<v Speaker 1>that care. But are is the average person paying attention?
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, Ben, I'm really.
<v Speaker 2>It reminds me it's in the same windows, like the
<v Speaker 2>Epic Game Store just giving away so many free games.
<v Speaker 2>And we had somebody right into the mid Max show
<v Speaker 2>a while ago and there's like, hey, I've been grabbing
<v Speaker 2>every free Epic game Star game. Here's a list of
<v Speaker 2>everything that I've got, and it's like, oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>this is an unbelievable amount of free stuff, but still
<v Speaker 2>most people are like a whatever.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, people get used to their way of
<v Speaker 1>doing things, and even giving them free games cannot break
<v Speaker 1>them out of that for the most part, although I
<v Speaker 1>think Epics had more success with that than any of
<v Speaker 1>their other strategies, so if free games do still move
<v Speaker 1>the needles somewhat. Tomodachi Life surpassed one million copies physically
<v Speaker 1>sold in Japan, so just the physical copies. They updated
<v Speaker 1>the Famitsu chart after Golden Week. They took a week
<v Speaker 1>off for Golden Week. Golden Week also a little bit
<v Speaker 1>like Christmas in Japan. I'm not some expert on Japanese culture,
<v Speaker 1>but that is what people have told me before, so
<v Speaker 1>I bet gift giving is involved, and I bet that
<v Speaker 1>did help sell some things. They sold two hundred and
<v Speaker 1>fourteen thousand Switch twos, but they also sold forty thousand
<v Speaker 1>Switch ones. I think a big part of that is
<v Speaker 1>because of Tomadaci Life. For comparison, twenty three thousand PS fives,
<v Speaker 1>so a fewer PS five sold than Switch ones, and
<v Speaker 1>Tomodachi Life is probably largely to thank there. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>tell me about your Life finding its audience in Japan
<v Speaker 1>for sure. But they confirmed that game is around four
<v Speaker 1>million copies sold, so globally that's very well done.
<v Speaker 2>Not like I can only dream of hitting Tomadacci numbers.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and it's never a chance in hell.
<v Speaker 1>Lego Zelda Great Dgo Tree, Deku Tree, a Dko tree
<v Speaker 1>is being set to be retired. There this story from
<v Speaker 1>Nintado Everything says he here's a bunch of places where
<v Speaker 1>you can get it. You probably should out there and
<v Speaker 1>try to find it right now before the thing gets
<v Speaker 1>retired for good. And they do that with Lego sets.
<v Speaker 1>But I don't know. I almost forgot about this thing,
<v Speaker 1>the Great Dko Tree when I think about it, Hey,
<v Speaker 1>what would make a good Lego set? Like they should
<v Speaker 1>do a Nigo tree, And it's like, oh, they did
<v Speaker 1>do that, and I always just forget about it. I
<v Speaker 1>think is when I look at it, it's like, I
<v Speaker 1>don't know, and it's not moving me too much, but
<v Speaker 1>I know some people care.
<v Speaker 3>Thank you? All right, thank you?
<v Speaker 2>How much is this going for? Three hundred dollars.
<v Speaker 3>Three and a big one? Sense? Right? I look twenty
<v Speaker 3>five hundred pieces.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, I'm gonna have a controversial statement on this here podcast.
<v Speaker 2>I'm all down for eating the rich, you know, the
<v Speaker 2>Lego guys. I think you start with the fucking Lego guys.
<v Speaker 2>Every time I see somebody like at a target with a
<v Speaker 2>huge Lego that's like six hundred dollars, I'm like, what
<v Speaker 2>are you doing, dude? Stop it. Lego buyers, stop it.
<v Speaker 2>It's the greatest rip off on earth that I love
<v Speaker 2>Lego as a kid. I could get four million Lego
<v Speaker 2>bricks probably for five bucks on Facebook marketplace. Stop giving
<v Speaker 2>them this money because it shows a picture of Mario
<v Speaker 2>on it, please.
<v Speaker 3>That is true.
<v Speaker 1>You probably can go to your grandma's house and go
<v Speaker 1>in her basement and find a tub full of Lego.
<v Speaker 3>Right now, everybody, do it.
<v Speaker 2>Don't don't don't knock break a window in granny's house.
<v Speaker 1>Go get you talk to her if you's if you're
<v Speaker 1>not talking to her because she's maga. Now just go
<v Speaker 1>break in there. Yeah, you're a maga grandma's lego. That's
<v Speaker 1>the too much to ask, that's a That is our
<v Speaker 1>official position here at Giant Bomb. All right, that doesn't
<v Speaker 1>for the headlines, everybody, Let's get onto the poll question
<v Speaker 1>from yesterday. I'm gonna reset and refresh, make sure I
<v Speaker 1>have the most up to date results. Four point two
<v Speaker 1>thousand votes on do you care about realistic graphics?
<v Speaker 3>Yes or no?
<v Speaker 1>We were options. I know we keep it simple, like
<v Speaker 1>just I want to get people's gut reactions. Seventy nine
<v Speaker 1>percent say no, I do not care about realistic graphics.
<v Speaker 1>Twenty one percent say they do. Again, I know that
<v Speaker 1>like oversimplifies things, but I like doing that with these
<v Speaker 1>poles sometimes. Ben, I'm like, I answered no because you know,
<v Speaker 1>gun to my head, do I care about realistic graphics?
<v Speaker 1>I mean, look, I like thinking about the technology, but
<v Speaker 1>when I'm playing a game, I don't care.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, just don't care these days, how about you?
<v Speaker 2>Right, No, I'm really with you. Save it for some
<v Speaker 2>unreal showcase that I can look at it YouTube and
<v Speaker 2>be like it looks good, but like, yeah, playing it,
<v Speaker 2>I don't really care.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>For me, it's like, uh, realism in the simulation, simulation
<v Speaker 1>of the world. I love that stuff because I think
<v Speaker 1>it leads to an emergent game play that I care
<v Speaker 1>much more about that, and I don't need it to
<v Speaker 1>look realistic to get those feelings.
<v Speaker 3>All right.
<v Speaker 1>That is the poll question from yesterday. No new poll
<v Speaker 1>question because it's Friday. We're wrapping up the week, it's
<v Speaker 1>gonna be time for the Bomb twelve. We'll get to
<v Speaker 1>the twelve games that really matter to people who are
<v Speaker 1>really playing video games here in a moment before we
<v Speaker 1>do that, though, Ben Hanson, why don't tell people where
<v Speaker 1>they can find you on the internet, what you have
<v Speaker 1>going on and all that good stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Midmax. You can subscribe to the mid Max Show
<v Speaker 2>and if your have ae podcast app or check out
<v Speaker 2>YouTube dot com slash Midmax. We got a lot going
<v Speaker 2>on there. A new episode of the podcast just went
<v Speaker 2>live with more forts of thoughts stranger than having thoughts
<v Speaker 2>Me to the Hollower preview thoughts. And also we had
<v Speaker 2>a fun rapid fire interview about me and the Hollower
<v Speaker 2>that went up on our YouTube channel this week, and
<v Speaker 2>we brought in guest interviewer Kyle Bossman fantastic input. Formally
<v Speaker 2>visy allies, but I'm such a fan of Kyle and
<v Speaker 2>so had a nice call with him a while ago,
<v Speaker 2>just being like, hey, we should do more together. You know,
<v Speaker 2>he's not joining the mid Max team or anything, but
<v Speaker 2>like we should just have some fun one offs. And
<v Speaker 2>I was like, I think you'd be good at rapid fires,
<v Speaker 2>Like what would you want to do and he's like,
<v Speaker 2>oh me to the hollower, Like he said immediately, I
<v Speaker 2>was like, I wouldn't think of doing that for that,
<v Speaker 2>but yeah, it's super fun to put together. But then
<v Speaker 2>also we are doing a deepest dive on Double O
<v Speaker 2>seven First Light, which is like our multi part game
<v Speaker 2>club discussion, creating the best mostart discussion about that game
<v Speaker 2>on the Internet. Leo Vader, hit Man's number one fan
<v Speaker 2>of the world, is going to be hosting that one,
<v Speaker 2>and so that's gonna be trickling out. We're gonna have
<v Speaker 2>three episodes after that game launches, so you can submit
<v Speaker 2>comments and we're gonna break the game up into huge chunks.
<v Speaker 2>And Leo always cites Giant Bomb talking about that, like
<v Speaker 2>when the hit Man levels were stagrid releases that He's like,
<v Speaker 2>that was some of my favorite Giant Bomb content ever.
<v Speaker 2>Is just to have like those major depth discussions about
<v Speaker 2>every single level in Hitman and so to bring some
<v Speaker 2>of that spirit with a game club for Double seven
<v Speaker 2>First Light, I think it's gonna be fun.
<v Speaker 1>I am with you and with Leo on that, so
<v Speaker 1>I love that stuff, and yeah, fantastic work over there
<v Speaker 1>at Men Max. I need to get Kyle on this show.
<v Speaker 1>I'm also a huge fan of Kyle Bosman. That will
<v Speaker 1>make that happen, everybody. Let's see here real quick, there
<v Speaker 1>was a bunch of people who joined Giant Bomb Premium
<v Speaker 1>on YouTube.
<v Speaker 3>The thank you everybody who did that.
<v Speaker 1>If you're gonna be doing that, you're gonna be supporting
<v Speaker 1>Mike's Donkey Kong sixty four stream of the marathon. It
<v Speaker 1>might be wrap it up today, So get in there
<v Speaker 1>and really enjoy that and then go enjoy some premium
<v Speaker 1>content if we get over the hump there with our
<v Speaker 1>new incentive, which I think we're gonna be getting close
<v Speaker 1>to today, so it might happen.
<v Speaker 3>You're gonna be able to vote on who you're bleding
<v Speaker 3>and what game.
<v Speaker 1>They're gonna be playing as part of a premium Blake club,
<v Speaker 1>and that includes Jan and Jerf and me and Benner
<v Speaker 1>of the opinion.
<v Speaker 3>It's just the funniest if it's Jerf, it really is.
<v Speaker 2>But hey, we can't sway the vote. You're your own person,
<v Speaker 2>make your own choice, everybody.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we can't sway the vote. That would be terrible.
<v Speaker 1>I would hate that.
<v Speaker 3>All right. Let's see here.
<v Speaker 1>I think with all that out of the way we
<v Speaker 1>got upf happening later today, although I think that is
<v Speaker 1>probably gonna be more Donkey Kong everybody, because we just
<v Speaker 1>want Mike to get.
<v Speaker 3>Finished with that.
<v Speaker 1>We'll hang out, we'll talk about some of these other
<v Speaker 1>games next week. I do want to play some Fortsa
<v Speaker 1>on the website player. I want to play some Snautica
<v Speaker 1>to multiplayer on the website. We'll try to make all
<v Speaker 1>that happen everybody, But Donkey Kong takes precedents, as of
<v Speaker 1>course it does Donkey Kong sixty four. All right, it
<v Speaker 1>is time to wrap up the week with the Bomb twelve.
<v Speaker 1>As I said, these are the twelve games that really
<v Speaker 1>matter to people who are really playing video games. Lots
<v Speaker 1>of submissions this week. Let's get into it with number
<v Speaker 1>twelve in its Early Access release issue, playing at Forts
<v Speaker 1>Horizon six. That's Forts Horizon six, I jecked. This is
<v Speaker 1>the one hundred and twenty dollars version that people would
<v Speaker 1>have to be playing. It's already at one hundred and
<v Speaker 1>eight thousand concurrent players on.
<v Speaker 3>Steam with that. WHOA, that is just nuts.
<v Speaker 1>And we know for Forts Horizon five sold like a
<v Speaker 1>million copies when it was in its Early access third
<v Speaker 1>version of Early Access, which is pay us more to
<v Speaker 1>play at Early It's probably going to replicate that, if
<v Speaker 1>not do even better this time. Number eleven is State
<v Speaker 1>of the K two, Number ten is Hades two. Number
<v Speaker 1>nine is Slay the Spire To. Number eight is Domekeeper.
<v Speaker 1>Number seven is the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. A
<v Speaker 1>lot of people playing that, probably because of that decomp
<v Speaker 1>version Dusk and if you're not, check it out it
<v Speaker 1>seems pretty good. Number six is Vampire Crawlers. Number five
<v Speaker 1>is Diablo four Lord of Hatred, Number four is Pragmata,
<v Speaker 1>number three is Marathon, number two is Mixtape, and number
<v Speaker 1>one still is Sorrows.
<v Speaker 3>Uh yeah, what do you think? Ben uh?
<v Speaker 2>Dome Keeper? I love dome Keeper, Like, was there a
<v Speaker 2>big update I missed or something? What's coining?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean to mention that as well.
<v Speaker 1>There must have been some update or there is the
<v Speaker 1>occasional like sort of fan push of like hey, let's
<v Speaker 1>get something fun on the chart this week. Although I
<v Speaker 1>think we had a stated to K two right State
<v Speaker 1>of the K two at number eleven, so I think
<v Speaker 1>maybe we had a couple of those, but I think
<v Speaker 1>don't Keeper might have had an update. I feel like
<v Speaker 1>I saw that on Steam getting out.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, seems like they added multiplayer. Yeah in mid April. Okay,
<v Speaker 2>got it, got it all right?
<v Speaker 3>Well people are checking that out.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, we'll get we'll get the results of next
