Million Dollar Maybe (S21E11)

Four Finger Discount (Simpsons Podcast)

Regardless of how you say "potato", you're gonna love this week's review of "Million Dollar Maybe", a surprisingly heartfelt and believable story that sees Homer forced to hide his lotto winnigns from his family. Despite what you may think, he's actually a pretty great father/husband for the most part!

We also discuss complaining when waiting in line, the short-lived life of Springfield's newest resident, "Ricardo", our love of a good panini and more.

<v Speaker 1>Ye, welcome to four fingered Discount, where this week we're
<v Speaker 1>going to be reviewing million dollar Maybe. I am Dano
<v Speaker 1>joined by Batman.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I am Guy. Not feeling one under, but you might.
<v Speaker 3>You're looking at it though, thank you very much, But
<v Speaker 3>you might enjoy the soft and sexy sounds of Guy.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like this is on getting the naw You've
<v Speaker 1>always said you want to be a radio DJ at
<v Speaker 1>off the coastline. This is the radio voice, This is
<v Speaker 1>the radio guy. Welcome to Antonio Bay. A little little
<v Speaker 1>fog shout out for my carpenter heads out there. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>can you throw a love shirt out to the lovely
<v Speaker 1>Louise for me? What song she'd want? Steely Dan? Right?
<v Speaker 3>This one goes out to the lovely Louis who may
<v Speaker 3>have to listen to this podcast if you every want
<v Speaker 3>to hear this.
<v Speaker 1>Soon she will be yours. She is your eyes, but
<v Speaker 1>we're here to reive. Oh okay, I see what you
<v Speaker 1>did there? Yeah, million dollar maybe this is an episode.
<v Speaker 1>I did not expect this. I thought there's gonna be
<v Speaker 1>some sort of abel aded thing because you have million
<v Speaker 1>dollar Aby and Abe was used in the photo. Ab
<v Speaker 1>was used in the photo for the for the wikie page.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, Oh, it must be something about a
<v Speaker 1>winning money or again or whatever you would think, so yeah, no,
<v Speaker 1>But I was completely incorrect, and I actually thought the
<v Speaker 1>premise for this was actually quite interesting. It's a you
<v Speaker 1>win a million dollars, you can't tell your partner. That
<v Speaker 1>would be a shit situation. To me, it's your classic
<v Speaker 1>sitcom setup, and it is.
<v Speaker 3>It is actually sort of based on I don't think
<v Speaker 3>it's really sort of sighted in anything that I.
<v Speaker 1>Read about the episode. But there is a story called
<v Speaker 1>Brewsters Millions. Have you heard of. It's been made into
<v Speaker 1>a movie.
<v Speaker 3>A couple of times, I think, most recently back in
<v Speaker 3>the eighties with Richard Pryor and John Candy, and the
<v Speaker 3>premises a guy inherits like a certain amount of money.
<v Speaker 3>In the prior one, it was like, you've inherited a
<v Speaker 3>million dollars or ten million dollars or something like that,
<v Speaker 3>but you have to spend it all in thirty days
<v Speaker 3>and then you'll get one hundred million dollars. But you
<v Speaker 3>can't tell anyone why you're spending it, okay, because he's
<v Speaker 3>got the excentria gunggal. I was like, you have to
<v Speaker 3>spend it all on this way?
<v Speaker 1>Say's like a Mister Beast episode. It does, doesn't it? Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, so you know in the movie he's spending all
<v Speaker 3>his money really near it's got Yeah, you had no money,
<v Speaker 3>nag his money.
<v Speaker 1>Don't be so irresponsible. No, no, no, I'm buying you know,
<v Speaker 1>I'm buying this.
<v Speaker 3>Basketball team and all you know, I'm going flying and
<v Speaker 3>I bought a hot air blow and whatever, And I like,
<v Speaker 3>why I can't tell anyone because then I'll make all
<v Speaker 3>the money there.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but you're right. I mean this feels like it
<v Speaker 1>could have been an episode of almost any sitcom in
<v Speaker 1>terms of like, ah, what a whacky misunderstanding. Yeah, because
<v Speaker 1>the thing is it was selfish already did leading much
<v Speaker 1>high and dry. But if you felt like this could
<v Speaker 1>be my lucky day, you're going to do it right.
<v Speaker 1>That's true. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Look, I got no problem with like the structure of
<v Speaker 3>the episode or the setup of the episode. I get
<v Speaker 3>a feel like some of the jokes could have been
<v Speaker 3>a little better. The story felt the storytelling for a
<v Speaker 3>little flimsy. I didn't I didn't dislike the episode. I
<v Speaker 3>thought that a lot of okay stuff in it. But
<v Speaker 3>when you've got such a great premise, it feels like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>I really wish you'd lived up to it a little
<v Speaker 3>bit better. But for the most part, not bad. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>a lot of a lot of fun stuff in this.
<v Speaker 3>And I think the b plots, such as it was
<v Speaker 3>with the you know, the funtendo z or what they
<v Speaker 3>called it was like, this feels just like trying to
<v Speaker 3>cash it on that.
<v Speaker 1>There was a lot of stuff that felt like like
<v Speaker 1>we better keep up to date with this crazy modern
<v Speaker 1>world and all it's you know, new fangled gadgets and tech. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so I lived through the weed. I was about to
<v Speaker 1>say so, like I kind of I appreciate it. I
<v Speaker 1>also watched his going this just feels very Hey, everyone,
<v Speaker 1>the kids are playing with Nuize at the moment, which.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, one of the right Bill, yeah, Bill Oden Kirk right,
<v Speaker 3>I keep on Kirk. They are, Yeah, they're right. The brothers,
<v Speaker 3>yeah they are, they are. Now we've made it Cannon.
<v Speaker 1>Whenever I see an episode as I get the feeling that,
<v Speaker 1>you know, some middle aged guys watching his kids play
<v Speaker 1>with their new toys, and it's like I don't understand this,
<v Speaker 1>but it's gonna happen, so I'd better get on board.
<v Speaker 1>For me, I was very much like the old people
<v Speaker 1>are the old people the Springfield Real Time acount. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>don' want to plug the TV? What are you putting
<v Speaker 1>in there?
<v Speaker 3>No?
<v Speaker 1>What screens? Tablets? Windows? No, forget it. So it was
<v Speaker 1>for a b plot, though it served its purpose for
<v Speaker 1>just a break up time.
<v Speaker 3>It served as plot, and it had bits in it
<v Speaker 3>that I thought were actually really funny. Yes, there were
<v Speaker 3>one or two lines and there was.
<v Speaker 1>Like that's that's classics Golden Ears. But the ending left
<v Speaker 1>me feeling got it depressed though, as oh, absolutely, you know,
<v Speaker 1>it's probably a realistic ending because the nerves of the nursing.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, I don't want them spry, and.
<v Speaker 3>Don't don't make a sucky job harder. If the job
<v Speaker 3>is going to suck, at least let it be easy.
<v Speaker 1>I just think it needed to end on a comic note.
<v Speaker 1>You just end up at Leasta walking out sad, and
<v Speaker 1>the old peop were just looking like zombies, and I
<v Speaker 1>was like, that's depressing, man. Yeah, well, here's the thing.
<v Speaker 3>You could have folded the two in some way, the
<v Speaker 3>two storylines, you know, I know you had to have
<v Speaker 3>home a sort of.
<v Speaker 1>Using the last of his money status quote yeah too. Well,
<v Speaker 1>also to get back to the status quay, but also
<v Speaker 1>to apologize to March. That was clear that had to happen.
<v Speaker 3>But if he used some of that million bucks to like,
<v Speaker 3>I know, how about we create a pickleball court or
<v Speaker 3>something like that at the at the Springfield timic Castle,
<v Speaker 3>and they use then you found vitality to get outside
<v Speaker 3>a little bit. It's not quite it's not quite a
<v Speaker 3>using money for good, but use the money for good
<v Speaker 3>and yeah, and the old folks get a happy ending.
<v Speaker 1>What does Grandpa say in your favorite ending? All the time,
<v Speaker 1>dignity is on me and he's on me. Yes, in
<v Speaker 1>this case, dignity is on Homer.
<v Speaker 3>I don't think pickleball was invented back when this episode
<v Speaker 3>came out.
<v Speaker 1>You know about pickleball what it is? I'm just going
<v Speaker 1>with it. Have you not heard of pickle ball? No,
<v Speaker 1>it's essentially pickets ball. Pickle ball, Yeah, apparently very popular
<v Speaker 1>with an older demographic. It's sort of like tennis slash
<v Speaker 1>table tennis. Yeah, you're on a tennis court, but you're
<v Speaker 1>not really playing with tennis records. He's sort of closer up,
<v Speaker 1>but I think the ball's a little softer. I think
<v Speaker 1>it's a tennis ball, so it's tennis, but it's run
<v Speaker 1>around so much.
<v Speaker 3>Kind of, I think it's still running around a bit,
<v Speaker 3>but not maybe not quite as much as he would
<v Speaker 3>if you're playing legitimate tennis. It's sort of like pickleball
<v Speaker 3>full size table tennis. A full body table tennis. I
<v Speaker 3>may be misrepresenting it, but pick.
<v Speaker 1>A ball was invented in the summer of nineteen sixty five, shouldn't. Well,
<v Speaker 1>it's a game, just a real resurgence in the last
<v Speaker 1>couple of years. Yeah, as a children's backyard game in
<v Speaker 1>the United States.
<v Speaker 3>All right, well, now the boomers, because I think it's
<v Speaker 3>been mostly played by boomers.
<v Speaker 1>So it's almost like a hit like a volleyboy been
<v Speaker 1>hit up and over. It's like shuttlecock neck, like badminton, badminton.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, so yeah, not quite tennis, not quite bad.
<v Speaker 1>Have a great dame speaking. There's a Jewish guy in
<v Speaker 1>this episode, the ol Jeish. Yeah, some good lines like
<v Speaker 1>my roumate is dead. No take out my roommate, he's dead,
<v Speaker 1>tell me my name. I love the old Jewish guy certainly,
<v Speaker 1>all I like him today. But I just thought, I
<v Speaker 1>feel like I've got in my notes. I feel like
<v Speaker 1>I need to apologize a little to Algae because I
<v Speaker 1>feel like I've been justified in many ways. But when
<v Speaker 1>we watch the classic episodes, and even when we did
<v Speaker 1>the review on the eight hundredth episode, I feel like
<v Speaker 1>I've been ripping on. I always go because we're doing
<v Speaker 1>season twenty one moment and home is a real prick
<v Speaker 1>and all this and the jokes a shit. Uh. I
<v Speaker 1>watched this one and I was like, so, I know
<v Speaker 1>you didn't like Once upon a Time and Springford. I
<v Speaker 1>really really liked it. I came to appreciate a little
<v Speaker 1>more the more we talked about it, and I watched
<v Speaker 1>this one here and I'm going everything. I praised the
<v Speaker 1>eight hundredth episode four and saying, is what salone does
<v Speaker 1>better than our Jean was kind of in this one okay. Well,
<v Speaker 1>in particular, there was the callback. It was at the
<v Speaker 1>end when they sang their song together, and I was like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>this is just really sweet. I know that that song
<v Speaker 1>sort of was set up for the issue and the
<v Speaker 1>fault what would you call it? The problem? Yeah? Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and bother wing to talk about that scene of them
<v Speaker 1>that was meant to be their big moment, they didn't
<v Speaker 1>have it, but by the end they got their big moment.
<v Speaker 1>I thought, you know, just Homer using the money to
<v Speaker 1>have the flowers and stuff. Sometimes we say this didn't
<v Speaker 1>feel earned. I felt it kind of was earned because
<v Speaker 1>the entire episode, Hobe was doing nothing but trying to
<v Speaker 1>buy shit for his family. It wasn't just spoiling himself
<v Speaker 1>and trying to keep it a seat, because I feel
<v Speaker 1>like season seventeen eighteen Homer would have been doing that,
<v Speaker 1>treating his pals at the bar and upgrading moments and
<v Speaker 1>doing things for himself, and then everyone going where'd you
<v Speaker 1>get those new clothes from? I don't know, just don't
<v Speaker 1>worry about it. But this one here was just how
<v Speaker 1>can I buy ship for my family without them knowing
<v Speaker 1>that I've got the million dollars? It's true? You know what?
<v Speaker 3>Was he trying to do the right thing or was
<v Speaker 3>he trying to ease a guilty conscience. Maybe it was
<v Speaker 3>a bit of both.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, maybe a bit of both, but insane though his
<v Speaker 1>family got everything, that's true.
<v Speaker 3>Well, they got the new washing machine, the new washing machine.
<v Speaker 3>You know, he died all bones bones, that'd be you'd
<v Speaker 3>be buying others or bones.
<v Speaker 1>Nicholas Cage, didn't you buy the skeleton ahead of a tick?
<v Speaker 1>He did? Yeah, just brought a bunch of out landish ship. Now,
<v Speaker 1>and that's why, Nicholas Cage, Cage, you could have been
<v Speaker 1>Superman man. I think we might have dodged a ballot.
<v Speaker 1>I watched the clip and I was like, like, long,
<v Speaker 1>like Nicholas Cage's hair black, and like that's not Superman.
<v Speaker 1>He is not Clark. Can pretty imagine Cage trying to
<v Speaker 1>do Clark can I can't do it. I just can't.
<v Speaker 3>No. I mean, look, I think you'd give it a
<v Speaker 3>red hot and I think I don't think he would
<v Speaker 3>like really be at landish A's cluck in. I think
<v Speaker 3>he'd try to do it legitimately. I mean everyone thinks
<v Speaker 3>of like Nicholas Cage's Neiclas Cage. Yeah, but he can
<v Speaker 3>he can dial it down. Yeah, he's in the family man,
<v Speaker 3>of course.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I still think.
<v Speaker 3>Nineteen nineties here a Brendan Fraser would have been the
<v Speaker 3>perfect Clark Kent slash Superman.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, because the kids watch George of the Jungle yesterday.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, fuck, this dud had it all, man,
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, absolutely, I had it all.
<v Speaker 3>There were some photos but in in Premiere magazine, this
<v Speaker 3>great movie magazine was out in the eighties and nineties
<v Speaker 3>that came out around the time of Georgia the Jungle
<v Speaker 3>when he was.
<v Speaker 1>Just in terrific show.
<v Speaker 3>And you know he's in various sort of like I
<v Speaker 3>think they reproduced like old art prints or like something
<v Speaker 3>like that. But he was basically just down to like
<v Speaker 3>a loin cloth or but he's showing off the George
<v Speaker 3>that the younger body's like ging hell, I mean the
<v Speaker 3>gen x kids and people who grew up in the
<v Speaker 3>eighties and nineties. I mean, it's not like the apex
<v Speaker 3>body was Brad Pitts Tyler did. And Okay, there's just
<v Speaker 3>a shot of five club Yeah, oh my god. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>because's not jack like but incredibly lean.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, every muscle is define You look at that hot damn.
<v Speaker 1>My memories of George of the Jungle were Brendan Fraser Jackson.
<v Speaker 1>He wasn't jacked, he was just really lean. He was
<v Speaker 1>just incredibly lean. Yeah. Running a very close second is
<v Speaker 1>Fraser is George of the Jungle.
<v Speaker 3>Wow? Wow, I hope you've enjoyed this male now not
<v Speaker 3>at all gay on forming a gap. Now it's gonna
<v Speaker 3>do some yeager without an.
<v Speaker 2>My favorite?
<v Speaker 1>Did you have any favorite moments from the episode?
<v Speaker 3>What I would do as a person who does not
<v Speaker 3>like cues and ends up being a maker of can
<v Speaker 3>you Believe?
<v Speaker 1>Make? Can you believe? There's noises? Yes? I appreciate it, Homer.
<v Speaker 3>It's just going if I make kind of hm noises
<v Speaker 3>and wanderf this cue will move faster. How often do
<v Speaker 3>standing in line sort of do that to ourself? Not
<v Speaker 3>not sort of thinking if I do this, this will
<v Speaker 3>hopefully speak the lineup. But it's like one if anyone
<v Speaker 3>else's wants to complain with me.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we all. I had this just the other day.
<v Speaker 1>I was.
<v Speaker 3>I was in it Geelong Fresh Foods on Paco and
<v Speaker 3>it's like traditionally there's two big queues and an express queue,
<v Speaker 3>and someone had gotten into the express que with just
<v Speaker 3>way too much stuff.
<v Speaker 1>It's not that someone takes a full shop and try
<v Speaker 1>to load through the self service. Yeah, and I was
<v Speaker 1>very much come on foot yeah, yeah, just just.
<v Speaker 3>Very like on a three on the Boneland.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if you picked that up, but we could. Yeah. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I've done it once. I've done a few times. But
<v Speaker 1>I remember once I did it and this woman turned
<v Speaker 1>around to me and she's like, we're all stuck in line.
<v Speaker 1>We don't have to sit here until you complain. And
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, oh, ship, okay man, I've read this the
<v Speaker 1>other day, and of course I've read it before somewhere,
<v Speaker 1>but yeah, sometimes you need to be reminded. It's like,
<v Speaker 1>you're not stuck in traffic, you are trapped. Yeah. I
<v Speaker 1>used to be really bad when I was stuck in traffic,
<v Speaker 1>and I sort of always take that mansion out of you.
<v Speaker 1>I'm part of the problem. You are traffic. Yeah yeah,
<v Speaker 1>Why is everyone out on the road right now? You
<v Speaker 1>are on the road right now, that's you're read.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, there's someone in there's someone in that car next
<v Speaker 3>to you. Why is he on those fucking DANDOK Jesus.
<v Speaker 3>Something I was enjoyed was Homer stashing is money in
<v Speaker 3>the local branch. Funny good gag yeap, And this is
<v Speaker 3>what I was alluding to before, but I thought this
<v Speaker 3>was a line that's straight out of like season seven,
<v Speaker 3>eight nine of The Simpsons, where yeah, the at least
<v Speaker 3>it's saying to the nurses at the retirement cost was like,
<v Speaker 3>why are you doing this to the old bit was like, well, oh,
<v Speaker 3>you should at least let them have their fun. They
<v Speaker 3>should have had their fun before they got here.
<v Speaker 1>That's great.
<v Speaker 3>That's that's a line up there, Like what does he
<v Speaker 3>say about your Grandma's Like you shouldn't mouthed up like
<v Speaker 3>that grandma shouldn't have mouthed up like that. Yeah, just
<v Speaker 3>like they should have had their fun before they got here.
<v Speaker 3>I thought that was great.
<v Speaker 1>I really got a good chuckle out of that line.
<v Speaker 1>So there's some of my favorites. What did you think? Well?
<v Speaker 1>I like the who said who actually says potato? Who
<v Speaker 1>were stuck? God? Yeah, that's it? That is good. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>and the.
<v Speaker 3>Beau there's tomato, you say tomato and about some of
<v Speaker 3>people say tomato as well. Yeah, and some of them
<v Speaker 3>say potato, but no one says potato.
<v Speaker 1>Some say potato, and no one's as potato unless it's
<v Speaker 1>the rhymes of tomato. That's the only reason people say potato,
<v Speaker 1>unless it's the Quimby's. I think the Quimbies would probably
<v Speaker 1>say potato, potato, potato, potato. I also thought I didn't
<v Speaker 1>mind Homer going what should I buy Hitler's Baseball or
<v Speaker 1>Talking Mirror? We'll giving me advice. I advise you to
<v Speaker 1>buy the Hitless Baseball. Do you think was it Dan
<v Speaker 1>doing the voice of the mirror? I think it was.
<v Speaker 1>Was it a hankle, Dan? Yeah? That was that?
<v Speaker 3>Just grove me as a really good line reading. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it was, I mean, just just a nice litle throat.
<v Speaker 1>I'd buy. I'd buy Hitler's. My advice is to buy
<v Speaker 1>the baseball, but there were plenty of other moments that
<v Speaker 1>I thought just good zingers. Next question you there eating
<v Speaker 1>the baste trivia time. My first question for you is
<v Speaker 1>how much did Homer pay in taxes? Ah? Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>What the government's cut was one hundred and fourteen thousand
<v Speaker 3>dollars three hundred and fourteen thousand, five hundred and fifty
<v Speaker 3>six dollars and seventy eight.
<v Speaker 1>Cents, which seems like a lot of money. But I
<v Speaker 1>thought when you won Lotto it was tax free likewise.
<v Speaker 1>That's why I'm always trying to win Loto. Yeah, I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>just fuck the government if I want a million dollars
<v Speaker 1>and he took like a third of It'm like, are
<v Speaker 1>you kidding me? You didn't do anything? What do they
<v Speaker 1>say it's for? What does Uncle Sam say it's for
<v Speaker 1>to partially to pay for a study, to work ahead,
<v Speaker 1>to spend the money. That's right. Yeah, I'm going to
<v Speaker 1>google here. Maybe it's just in this Australia, Maybe just
<v Speaker 1>in the States, Lotto tax free Australia. Have a look
<v Speaker 1>in Australia. A lottery winnings are classified as tax free income. Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's right baby. What about the US? Australia? United States?
<v Speaker 1>Maybe maybe they just made a joking episode that doesn't
<v Speaker 1>actually isn't true. Oh what happens if? I don't know?
<v Speaker 1>They tax the winnings first in the US?
<v Speaker 2>Holy shit, but.
<v Speaker 1>True, but they are. You can win so much money
<v Speaker 1>at the lotto in the US though, I mean that
<v Speaker 1>got those incredible amounts. To see what happens if an
<v Speaker 1>Australian wins the US lottery? Well, that's true because we
<v Speaker 1>can play in the national lottery. Yeah, so whatams of
<v Speaker 1>an Australians a lottery? It sounds like a dream, but the
<v Speaker 1>reality involves complex tax rules across two countries. Whether you
<v Speaker 1>bought a genuine US lottery ticket or place to bet
<v Speaker 1>through an Australian operator, the amount you actually take home
<v Speaker 1>and can look very different. So US tax comes first,
<v Speaker 1>federal tax of thirty percent. Australia is like no, keep
<v Speaker 1>it all by yeah, yeah you want it, put it
<v Speaker 1>back in the economy. I for shore your mates to
<v Speaker 1>be my well your first question that was my what
<v Speaker 1>is Valerie and Dave's married name? Oh? I miss that
<v Speaker 1>what was it. It's Togasaki. Rothman was on like the
<v Speaker 1>sign out the front or something they say in the
<v Speaker 1>in the song oh do they yeah in the potato
<v Speaker 1>Potato So wasn't listening. Yeah, indeed, so cousin Valerie is Japanese,
<v Speaker 1>I guess.
<v Speaker 3>So. Yeah, the Simpsons family tree just continues to be interesting.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, just randomly through a and then they maybe gave
<v Speaker 1>it the shatter then because it's cherry blossoms are traditionally Japanese.
<v Speaker 1>There we go about that. Maybe it's trade Parker, maybe
<v Speaker 1>a tree Parker's x y Trey Parker's doing alright, your
<v Speaker 1>next question. My next question is what were their jobs
<v Speaker 1>married couple. In their vows, they said you are this
<v Speaker 1>and I'm this, Oh this is you're a Starbucks girl.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, he's a yeah the best guys. I thought
<v Speaker 3>that's their coffees because Starbucks Starbucks coffee.
<v Speaker 1>And I see. Yeah, they're just lamers young people. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that makes sense, and they think they can bond u
<v Speaker 1>mad Man. I'm like, I get that, I love love joint,
<v Speaker 1>I give it. I give it what well as you know,
<v Speaker 1>as a seller, I'm like, write your own vows. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>but we wrote our own vows. And I watched this
<v Speaker 1>and I went, I wonder if a celerant was like shitty,
<v Speaker 1>But I thought, wouldn't it be making her job easier?
<v Speaker 1>Maybe not? Would you if they came to you saidond
<v Speaker 1>we run ourn vows, I'll be.
<v Speaker 3>Like fine, I'll be out if you like Otherwise people say, oh,
<v Speaker 3>oh you wrote those vows. Won't be a rring guy.
<v Speaker 3>My next question, speaking of checks and government cuts and
<v Speaker 3>all that, king, what is the name of the governor on.
<v Speaker 1>The check that they receive.
<v Speaker 3>There's the big guy, the big giant check that Narnie gets.
<v Speaker 1>It's Governor Bailey. Governor Bailey. All right, And my final
<v Speaker 1>question for you is what were the headlines on the
<v Speaker 1>Beijing Daily Worker.
<v Speaker 3>Oh well, there was one about cookies are now more
<v Speaker 3>optimistic or something, But I didn't see fortunate cookie is
<v Speaker 3>vague or more accurate?
<v Speaker 1>A former minister of cookies executed. Yes, there we go.
<v Speaker 3>I had one more question question, speaking of periodicals. The
<v Speaker 3>nurse at the retirement castle is reading a magazine. Do
<v Speaker 3>you see what did you see? What the title of a
<v Speaker 3>magazine was? It's called Envy Envy Magazines. In this one,
<v Speaker 3>what did Barney read the economist, getting the economists with.
<v Speaker 1>The adult magazines with a special report.
<v Speaker 3>On the Ural mountains and something about top times in Indonesia.
<v Speaker 3>There's always tough times in Indonesia.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it sounds like it soon kind of time? Do
<v Speaker 1>you reckon? Why not? Yes? Started with the incredible Katy G.
<v Speaker 1>We always love it, don't we? We do in need?
<v Speaker 1>If we had a million dollars, we'd buy her a
<v Speaker 1>cherry bossom garden in the in the shape, we would
<v Speaker 1>buy her a small bouquet of cherry boss. Yes, and
<v Speaker 1>keep the rest of us up. We would.
<v Speaker 3>Indeed, by the way, I'm going to take advantage of
<v Speaker 3>my batman shout out to Katy G.
<v Speaker 1>What do you dedicating to it? What song? I don't know?
<v Speaker 1>What do you like? Do you like? Sung by Sabrina
<v Speaker 1>Karpenter Manchild, by the way, absolute banger of a song.
<v Speaker 1>I like Sabrina. Yeah, Manchild's I know the song that
<v Speaker 1>was on the muppash. I haven't listened to any other songs.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, man, it's a good song, okay, Manchild
<v Speaker 1>like the kids like me'sen the Muppet Girl, And I
<v Speaker 1>was like, she now knows the Muppet Girl to the
<v Speaker 1>cats I like Olivia Dean. Do you like her? I
<v Speaker 1>don't know who it is. She's good.
<v Speaker 3>I think she topped the triple j Hottess one hundred.
<v Speaker 3>This song oh okay with man I need, but she's
<v Speaker 3>got a good song.
<v Speaker 1>I forget about good boys. Also the following people, Glenn Gomez,
<v Speaker 1>Justin Parker, Zach Prut, Shanni Macker, Elliott, j O'Neil, Isabella Murphy,
<v Speaker 1>Rach Beasley, Stephen Roberts, Sean DV, Pete Anderson, Timothy Belson,
<v Speaker 1>Andrew Davis, Kevin Dental, Planned, flood Ballo Winderbank, Jack McFadden,
<v Speaker 1>Heath Applebee, Adrick McCloud, Martrelevan Ginger and Pickle Preston Murray,
<v Speaker 1>Talia Enriquez, Declan Phoenix, Brian McCoy, Logan b James Shephard,
<v Speaker 1>Joe Redenseec, Dave Pretzels McNally, Gavin Lang, Dmi Miller, Charlie Joe,
<v Speaker 1>Abigail b Sharpcater and Craig Alti smash Globster. I love
<v Speaker 1>you and every one of those people, don't we miss
<v Speaker 1>the Davis. I love them all all equally very much so,
<v Speaker 1>including ALTI smash Well. Yeah, he's the newest recipient of
<v Speaker 1>All I Love. Yeah, you can be also getting our
<v Speaker 1>love if you are a stone cut a support of
<v Speaker 1>ours on Patreon. All right, let's get into our review,
<v Speaker 1>shall we? Of Million Dollar Maybe, which originally aired genuine
<v Speaker 1>thirty first twenty ten. What do you think was the
<v Speaker 1>top films at the US box office? Mister Davis and
<v Speaker 1>Dan advertar. Yeah, I think that's a probably a pretty
<v Speaker 1>good guess. Let's have a look. It was still Avatar,
<v Speaker 1>just hanging on there. Number one last week, number one
<v Speaker 1>this week. Number two still it's all the same. Number
<v Speaker 1>two last week was apparently the Edge of Darkness, still
<v Speaker 1>the same this week, and number three went in Rome. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>then what Edge of Darkness is a Mel Gibson movie? Yep?
<v Speaker 1>And when in Row pic on the Edge of All Darkness,
<v Speaker 1>there was some It was.
<v Speaker 3>On Twitter going around like a tweet by official mel
<v Speaker 3>Gibson official mel Gibson official in it, yeah, something like
<v Speaker 3>oh I can done me child trafficking and all this
<v Speaker 3>kind stuff released the Empstein balve. Then underneath all this,
<v Speaker 3>like citation needed, mel Gibson has no presence on social media.
<v Speaker 3>And when in Rome, I think is a romantic comedy
<v Speaker 3>starring Veronica Mars's Kristen Bell.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, she's my kids the voice of Alsa. Oh okay,
<v Speaker 1>she sings for Alsa, right I believe? So yeah? Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>When in Rome movie, who is she starting onside? Can
<v Speaker 1>you go? I want to say it's Josh Jumal? Well done? Yes.
<v Speaker 1>Oh and Kristen's now husband is also in this, Dak Shepherd.
<v Speaker 1>Everyone's like, what are you doing with him?
<v Speaker 3>That gay podcaster of note? Have us on your show? Yes,
<v Speaker 3>let's do the Chelsea Handler thing. Haven't you start getting
<v Speaker 3>emails from Dak Sheppard Share Expert.
<v Speaker 1>We love you guys. By the way, Shared out guys.
<v Speaker 1>We got another email yesterday from another representative from Chelsea
<v Speaker 1>Handler's podcast, Chelsea, we're taking out a restraining order. Leave
<v Speaker 1>us alone, lady? All right? Yeah. So that were the
<v Speaker 1>top three films at the US box office when this
<v Speaker 1>episode originally aired. Production code M A B F zero three,
<v Speaker 1>written by as guy said, Bill oden Coat, directed by
<v Speaker 1>Chris Clements. The catch gag there was a chopball game
<v Speaker 1>for this one of that, but the catch gig. It's
<v Speaker 1>Homer runs to the couch. First, he pulls out n iPhone,
<v Speaker 1>presses the couch Gag app and downloads Bartley's and Margine Maggie,
<v Speaker 1>making them run to the couch in the app, and
<v Speaker 1>then gets an incoming call from mister Burns. He screams
<v Speaker 1>and swallows the phone in.
<v Speaker 3>Lieu of a blackboard gag or a chalkboard gag as well.
<v Speaker 3>We're getting that little thing of something coming through the screen,
<v Speaker 3>and this time it was spider pick.
<v Speaker 1>It was indeed, Yeah, shooting the webs out. That's right,
<v Speaker 1>speaking also of couch gags. So now we mentioned on
<v Speaker 1>our eight hundredth episode review about the couch gag that
<v Speaker 1>we never saw.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's yesterday's news. But yeah, tell me now I
<v Speaker 3>get you.
<v Speaker 1>They released the couch gag on social media as a
<v Speaker 1>standalone video.
<v Speaker 3>I'm what in the hell something we're going on at
<v Speaker 3>the at Simson's HQ in that regard.
<v Speaker 1>Between your your power with the poster, Yeah, what's Bill?
<v Speaker 1>Bill Morrison? Bill Morrison, that's good designer the poster for
<v Speaker 1>the eight hundred episode.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, indeed, and this I don't know. It seems like
<v Speaker 3>all their attentions to burted as something else. Yeah, almost
<v Speaker 3>like something a bit bigger is impromptuy meetings for it and.
<v Speaker 1>It's something that's some big screen idea. But the thing is, though,
<v Speaker 1>why make a couch gag then not put it in
<v Speaker 1>the episode, but then then go oh shit, yeah we
<v Speaker 1>forgot it? Have it on social media? Do I think
<v Speaker 1>if they put it on? Because what you think you'd
<v Speaker 1>put the cash gear up before it was out of
<v Speaker 1>an airs into sort of like a tease for them,
<v Speaker 1>you would think, so it would be the best sort
<v Speaker 1>of little teas or a little mini trailer, wouldn't you? Anyway,
<v Speaker 1>anything can happen, Yes, anything can happen. So yeah, so
<v Speaker 1>you and a guest stars Chris Martins as himself in
<v Speaker 1>a little cameo there as well.
<v Speaker 3>That's correct, the front man of Cold Playing, former husband
<v Speaker 3>of Gwyneth Paltrow.
<v Speaker 1>Former they're not together anymore? Really? Oh yeah, that they've
<v Speaker 1>been apart for ages? Oh didn't I are you?
<v Speaker 3>Are you aware of the phrase conscious uncoupling? No, this
<v Speaker 3>is what they used to describe their separation.
<v Speaker 1>Didn't they call it gid apple or something? They did?
<v Speaker 3>Their daughter Apple is currently like twenty or something. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I think she's like least a single or something, maybe
<v Speaker 3>done a bit of modeling, trying to maybe branch out
<v Speaker 3>into acting, had profiles and magazines. Everyone's like, yeah, we're
<v Speaker 3>not quite buying this. Yeah, you're gonna have to sell
<v Speaker 3>us a little harder on Apple. I feel also, I've
<v Speaker 3>got to twenty five.
<v Speaker 1>Apple stock is not gone through the roof. I feel
<v Speaker 1>like I'm constantly in a world where I'm twenty five
<v Speaker 1>or younger. Like anything happened post twenty five, I just
<v Speaker 1>don't have any memory or knowledge of it. It's just
<v Speaker 1>I know they Chris Martin and Gwen Podris, they're married,
<v Speaker 1>and they've got a baby called Apple. That's just in
<v Speaker 1>my mind. Now she's twenty in their didors, I'm like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>when did I happen? But yes. The episode starts off
<v Speaker 1>with Homer and Marge singing a piano duet. Is a
<v Speaker 1>song called Let's Call the Whole Thing Off? I believe
<v Speaker 1>so I think the whole thing yeah.
<v Speaker 3>And I want to say it's written by the great
<v Speaker 3>songwriter Cole Porter, but that could be wrong.
<v Speaker 1>So the song Let's Call the Whole Thing Off is
<v Speaker 1>written by George Gershwin Gershwin and Aira Gershwin Ira Ira
<v Speaker 1>for the nineteen thirty seven film Shall We Dance, where
<v Speaker 1>it was introduced by Fred read astare yeah and ginger
<v Speaker 1>and pickle. Yes, Yes, so that is the song they
<v Speaker 1>was singing. But yeah, it was always It's always nice
<v Speaker 1>seeing Homer and Marge doing something as a team. I
<v Speaker 1>mentioned this in our eight hundred episode review Irrational Treasure.
<v Speaker 1>I like seeing Homer Andmage team up to achieve something
<v Speaker 1>and actually achieve it, not because they're odds, but they're
<v Speaker 1>actually working together. Yeah and yeah, it remind it took
<v Speaker 1>me back to the episode when they sing those were
<v Speaker 1>the Days, Yes, which was which was fun. They're practicing
<v Speaker 1>for cousin Valerie's wedding. They're gonna be singing at the
<v Speaker 1>wedding reception. We've got the potato potato, potato potato comment
<v Speaker 1>that we're talking about earlier were pointing out, yeah, who
<v Speaker 1>says potato? Yes, but March is still really nervous about it.
<v Speaker 1>But then Lisa, she goes to visit the old Folks
<v Speaker 1>home because just because I guess, and they're all staring
<v Speaker 1>at a static TV screen they don't have the digital
<v Speaker 1>convert and I was like this, this whole subplet kind
<v Speaker 1>of feels dated because we's are dated now. Digital converters
<v Speaker 1>for TVs remember that it's like your TV's ANALOGO. But
<v Speaker 1>you can god digital converter for it, or we can
<v Speaker 1>just buy on your TV. Yeah. Can you remember the
<v Speaker 1>first time we bought a wide screen TV? It felt
<v Speaker 1>like we're going to a new world. Oh yeah, my
<v Speaker 1>movie fills the whole screen. It's hard to explain to
<v Speaker 1>young people like it felt special, didn't it. No black
<v Speaker 1>bars at.
<v Speaker 3>The top, no square box, heavy square box in the
<v Speaker 3>middle of your room.
<v Speaker 1>And static sound Oh yeah, top of that TV on
<v Speaker 1>over that corner and you can hear it on it's
<v Speaker 1>just hummon. Yeah. Yeah, but yeah, So they've got no
<v Speaker 1>digital converters. So she gives they give her the money
<v Speaker 1>that they would have spent on TV evangelists. Evangelists. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>it was just a lot in the last ten minutes,
<v Speaker 1>And she goes to circuit Circus, which is apparently closing down.
<v Speaker 1>So maybe this is on the back end of digital
<v Speaker 1>converters and that kind of thing. So maybe everyone had
<v Speaker 1>a HDTV by this point. Sounds about right, Yeah, but
<v Speaker 1>I feel like, you know, the old folks, it would
<v Speaker 1>make sense that they're just like, I'm not going to
<v Speaker 1>get one of those HDTVs. I'm not going to be
<v Speaker 1>around long enough to justify this expense. Yeah, that's true.
<v Speaker 1>And mister Burns is there playing the funtendo z as
<v Speaker 1>you call it, the self Powered Experience Approximator, and she's
<v Speaker 1>never seen mister Burns has happily, so she gets the
<v Speaker 1>idea maybe she shoul buy one for the for the
<v Speaker 1>old folks. And I didn't mind hear Burns. He was
<v Speaker 1>playing the shooting game. I'm shooting at I remember it. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>we're back at work now. Homer is getting mocked for
<v Speaker 1>having a girl friend. That was kind of a random line.
<v Speaker 1>Home has got to get a friend. It's like, what
<v Speaker 1>they really don't know how to use Lenni and car.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah it feels that way, doesn't it. What's they're pointless? Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the jokes aren't. They're giving them a great and they're
<v Speaker 1>kind of not inappropriate, but like, what's the point? Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>or try try harder? Because we liked the episode where
<v Speaker 1>they it was the b plot, but I think it
<v Speaker 1>was once one Time Springfield where they were being scouted.
<v Speaker 1>Oh that's right, Yeah it was that episode. Yeah, a
<v Speaker 1>recent one, Yeah, which was fine, but still I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>It just feels like the episode with the Thursdays of
<v Speaker 1>Aby where they're just sort of making gay panic jokes
<v Speaker 1>and oh, Homer needs a friend to help them do something,
<v Speaker 1>just get Lenny and Car to do it. It's just
<v Speaker 1>it's weird. But they are opening up the fortune cookies
<v Speaker 1>here and all very very vague. I think cars are
<v Speaker 1>something ones of something. You'll find something that you've lost recently.
<v Speaker 1>And it's his faith and Homer's says this is gonna
<v Speaker 1>be the luckiest day of your life, or something along
<v Speaker 1>those lines, and they and he dismisses it, and they said,
<v Speaker 1>don't dismiss it, as the Beijing Daily Worker says, which
<v Speaker 1>is the most honest paper? Orso I think something on
<v Speaker 1>those lines. Four figure discount. March Madness has begun. That's right.

<v Speaker 1>the description of this show, and they say they're on
<v Speaker 1>the up and up the Fortune cookies, so they say,
<v Speaker 1>take advantage of it is a good theory. Any cookie
<v Speaker 1>you can't EAT's waste of time. But you can't eat
<v Speaker 1>fortune cookies right, Oh, of course they're actually pretty tasty.
<v Speaker 1>You had like a nice little sort of multi flavor,
<v Speaker 1>do they Okay? And Homer slips in and falls into
<v Speaker 1>the candy machine or the candy falls out, so it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>maybe it is my lucky day. Then he finds a
<v Speaker 1>CD Please be compact, Please be combacked in the car park.
<v Speaker 1>Do you ever find a CD? I've had a couple
<v Speaker 1>of CDs in mile in my time. I found Can
<v Speaker 1>you fucking believe this? I once found walking down the
<v Speaker 1>street in town the ET twentieth Anniversary soundtrack album in
<v Speaker 1>its cover, like on the floor, and I was like, okay.
<v Speaker 1>I remember looking at the ground and the first thing
<v Speaker 1>I did was there's cameras somewhere, because this is like,
<v Speaker 1>if I'm going to get a soundtrack, this is the
<v Speaker 1>one I'm going to want to buy and is here
<v Speaker 1>and it's for free. Did you feel like you were
<v Speaker 1>being Truman show? I thought something was going. I thought
<v Speaker 1>I was just getting punted. I thought, as soon as
<v Speaker 1>I picked this CD, someone's gonna jump out of me.
<v Speaker 1>So I walked past. I walked past it. I left
<v Speaker 1>the school. I was like, we're back. I thought, I'm
<v Speaker 1>just gonna do it. See it up and picked it up.
<v Speaker 1>Nothing happened. Went home. I was like, oh, you put
<v Speaker 1>it on and you heard the lovely sound. Yeah, John
<v Speaker 1>Williams's music. I was like, dude, and I'm still got
<v Speaker 1>that CD. It's in the car or in our old
<v Speaker 1>Sedan car listen to the ET Sandrick. I doesn't have
<v Speaker 1>the MP the bluetooth in the old car. But the
<v Speaker 1>thing is, it's like, what are the odds of me
<v Speaker 1>finding the ET soundtrack score? Given your love for ET? Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>On the just in this cover not broken? How did
<v Speaker 1>it get there? I've always wondered, how did that CD
<v Speaker 1>get there?
<v Speaker 3>The crazy thing I've ever found on the foot path?
<v Speaker 3>What's that small bag of magic mushrooms?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>Did you?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? Where outside the jeweling advertise? When I was working there,
<v Speaker 1>I'm looking down one. It was like, it's like, if
<v Speaker 1>there's one thing I wish to find, it's this.
<v Speaker 3>Please don't be regular mushrooms, Please be magic, Please be magic.
<v Speaker 1>But now I look down like there's this tiny little
<v Speaker 1>plastic bag, like what is that? Picked it up and said,
<v Speaker 1>this look like mushrooms. May be magic mushrooms.
<v Speaker 3>And I contact a few people in the know, so
<v Speaker 3>I said, I sent a picture and I said, do
<v Speaker 3>you think these gonna be? I think they canna be magical.
<v Speaker 3>I said, they look like it. You want to come
<v Speaker 3>over and try them? Yes, we're magical, but that's a
<v Speaker 3>story for another time.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, there we go. But so Hammers found the CD
<v Speaker 1>of it is Emerson Somebody, Emerson, Lake and Palma. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>and he's singing the songs having a great time.
<v Speaker 3>Are you familiar with the piece of music fan fare
<v Speaker 3>for the common man? Oh see, this is very much
<v Speaker 3>of my youth, whenever you had like sporting, and that's
<v Speaker 3>particularly the Olympics. Let me let me set the same don't.
<v Speaker 1>Don't du don't don't du sport is coming up? Yeah, man,
<v Speaker 1>wild word of sports.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's fan fa of the comment
<v Speaker 3>by Amos and lake and put Okay, I thought I
<v Speaker 3>was hope. So otherwise I've just made a whole lot
<v Speaker 3>of noise.
<v Speaker 1>I thought it was a Channel nine's wide World of
<v Speaker 1>Sports sound. No, no, yeah, I know the music. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's that's my childhood as well.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, you'd find yourself sort of playing that before you
<v Speaker 3>go out and have kicked kick footy.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, come to go out and be, you know,
<v Speaker 1>well a sporting hit. What's what I say is missing
<v Speaker 1>from sports programs that they've sucked the fun out of
<v Speaker 1>sports broadcasting. Now it's all serious and analysis and whatnot.
<v Speaker 1>And I was like, when I was growing up, we
<v Speaker 1>had stuff thing about foot fucking bought a tear your
<v Speaker 1>I mean going to the ground, my best mate got
<v Speaker 1>my scarf. And I'm like, that's what fucking footy is
<v Speaker 1>not serious analysis, Like we're going to the footy to
<v Speaker 1>fucking scream, act like deckheads and have a good time. Correct. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>let me back, you know, folks, I'm sorry, a correction
<v Speaker 1>must be made. Oh no, he's done some research. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I just raced out to my chicken out of the oven.
<v Speaker 1>It was like in Parma, did do a reworking of
<v Speaker 1>fan fare or was that just like a worldwide No,
<v Speaker 1>they're English prog English prog rock, English prog rock indeed,
<v Speaker 1>but fanfa The command was actually first written in nineteen
<v Speaker 1>forty two by Aaron Copland. Was this not the cricket anthem?
<v Speaker 1>Might have been it? Start off? Start off by going
<v Speaker 1>that's that's what I'm thinking of, because I sounded just
<v Speaker 1>like that bum bum bum. There's that, But there's also
<v Speaker 1>the stuff you hear at the start of like the
<v Speaker 1>six o'clock news bullet. Yeah, and it sounds anything, oh well,
<v Speaker 1>this is just on Channel nine Australia. But then if
<v Speaker 1>you you hear like, oh no, you just you bought
<v Speaker 1>this from the States.
<v Speaker 3>This is like CBS news. Yeah, it's so weird. If
<v Speaker 3>you ever see like, yeah, an international news ball.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, you'll use the channel name music what's going on?
<v Speaker 1>That belongs to Peter and Mitchell and Channel seven that
<v Speaker 1>belongs to the late great Brian Naylor. But anyway, how
<v Speaker 1>do we get to all that? That's right? Yes, wow,
<v Speaker 1>what a tangent. He's driving down the street and he
<v Speaker 1>sees the lotto for a million dollars at the quiet
<v Speaker 1>everyone's out there, buy a ticket. There's only one place
<v Speaker 1>you can buy a lot of tickets in Springfield. Apparently, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>this is stretching credibility a little bit, but well maybe not.
<v Speaker 1>This is before online purchases, maybe not. Who knows. Do
<v Speaker 1>you buy a lottery tickets? Nikola does sometimes. But what
<v Speaker 1>she does she always uses the same numbers, because the
<v Speaker 1>thing is if you don't use the same number. If
<v Speaker 1>you if you don't use the same numbers and then
<v Speaker 1>your numbers come out and you've got different numbers, then
<v Speaker 1>you'll just kick yourself. Well then yes, you'll want to unsubscribe. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So what she does is if she if she hasn't
<v Speaker 1>bought a ticket, she won't look at what one because
<v Speaker 1>she does not want to think, oh my god, I
<v Speaker 1>imagine I had to put that five dollar ticket this week. Correct,
<v Speaker 1>because that's why I always use the randomizer do Yeah? Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>But how would you feel if you had numbers and
<v Speaker 1>then you didn't put it on and then you saw
<v Speaker 1>they came out? It would it'd be hard to overcome that, right,
<v Speaker 1>I think he just walk into the ocean, Jesus Christ.
<v Speaker 1>But anyway, so he sees that and he has the
<v Speaker 1>four bubbles. So one's Lenny. One is Marge and Lenny
<v Speaker 1>say no, go buy the ticket, and Marge I say no,
<v Speaker 1>I need you here to do this. This this song
<v Speaker 1>with me and Lenny overrides Marginal, he rains on her,
<v Speaker 1>and then he and she she leaves anyway, So that
<v Speaker 1>is that then line. The line is taking longer than
<v Speaker 1>he thought, so he's got the the grumbling as we're
<v Speaker 1>talking about earlier. Maybe you'll speed up and make these
<v Speaker 1>angry noises. Then Homer reads a Teachers of Spanish book
<v Speaker 1>and explains his story to Bumblebee man, I.
<v Speaker 3>See danzas of yeah, putting a little hot sucer on
<v Speaker 3>his Spanish pronunciation.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I thought that was quite fun that bit. I
<v Speaker 1>must admit, how big a queue could you go?
<v Speaker 3>It's like I've got to be here at this a
<v Speaker 3>certain time, but at the same time, oh, this could
<v Speaker 3>be my lucky day. It's like if you saw ten
<v Speaker 3>people in a queue, would you go, Okay, I think
<v Speaker 3>I can do this.
<v Speaker 1>I think I can make it. I feel like you would.
<v Speaker 1>How long would the Q have a bee for you
<v Speaker 1>to say? It would depend on how lucky I've been
<v Speaker 1>earlier in the day. That makes sense, Yeah, if if
<v Speaker 1>it felt like that makes sense? But I know what
<v Speaker 1>you mean. Luck is all just make believe, right, But
<v Speaker 1>if you genuinely fell, luck is real. Today is my
<v Speaker 1>lucky day. You felt this could be my big chance.
<v Speaker 1>I think you just have to do it right.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's amazing kind of justifications it can make yourself.
<v Speaker 1>What's a long as you've waited in the line? Long
<v Speaker 1>as I've waited is three and a half hours? No? No, no,
<v Speaker 1>it was five hours. No, it was even longer. Fuck
<v Speaker 1>because we got there at five o'clock. So seven hours
<v Speaker 1>in the line for the Force Awakens. Wow. We were
<v Speaker 1>first in line, I said, the first, remember you saying, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>five to five, And then they guy tried to cut
<v Speaker 1>in front of us, get the secret. It was just
<v Speaker 1>like every man for himself once you're in there, and
<v Speaker 1>he's was like, oh this shit. I'm like, no, you
<v Speaker 1>fucking won't. But yeah, seven hours we waited for Force Awakens.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, look back now and think what was I thinking?
<v Speaker 1>But he knows waiting for the for the vandom menace.
<v Speaker 1>The thing is, well, that was that fandom me. She
<v Speaker 1>looked back now and it's just like Force Awakens. It's fine,
<v Speaker 1>it is, it's fine, It's fine. Yeah, but I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>But it was exciting because it was the first Star
<v Speaker 1>Wars before Fantom Menace came out when I was like eight,
<v Speaker 1>so I was young. I remember going to it, but
<v Speaker 1>like this was the first time when I was like
<v Speaker 1>old enough to be a proper Star Wars fan. And
<v Speaker 1>it's just anyway, Force Awakens for Awakens, but Marge is
<v Speaker 1>waiting nervously at the at the wedding because home is
<v Speaker 1>not there yet. They start reading their own vows, much
<v Speaker 1>to love Joy's dismay, and they say the thing they
<v Speaker 1>have in common the most is mad Man season two.
<v Speaker 1>I just like the reading their mad Man season two
<v Speaker 1>is to say we're so cool we know specific which season.
<v Speaker 1>Give it a year. Then she calls, Homer.
<v Speaker 2>Are you I'm almost there. I can see the church
<v Speaker 2>people in the distance. Oh, here comes a train.
<v Speaker 1>Ticket.
<v Speaker 2>Hey, where is your ticket?
<v Speaker 1>You? I have to give it to the people on
<v Speaker 1>line who are committing to the bit pretending to be
<v Speaker 1>the train and whatnot. They went a little bit too
<v Speaker 1>long with it though, Yeah, the conductor gag was just
<v Speaker 1>too much. The train sounds were fine enough, That's all
<v Speaker 1>it needed. But then he buys his ticket and he
<v Speaker 1>thinks he's gonna make it, but unfortunately Marge's already singing
<v Speaker 1>the song by herself and I've got here. I'm having
<v Speaker 1>a panic attack just watching this. It was very stressful,
<v Speaker 1>lo wasn't I was adding anxiety watch because I guarantee
<v Speaker 1>there's been times where people have probably been on stage
<v Speaker 1>at a wedding thinking they've got the right thing and
<v Speaker 1>it just bombs and it's like, what do you do? Oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>this is your friend's big day. But like, imagine being
<v Speaker 1>on stage when you spoke, you knew if the purposed
<v Speaker 1>to be a double act, if you weren't let down,
<v Speaker 1>this would have been working. It's like a Marge can't
<v Speaker 1>improvise and I'm just trying to bring Bard on stage,
<v Speaker 1>and so don't bring a kid into this. And I'm like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>I feel so because it's like it's poor March. She
<v Speaker 1>has she has low self esteem as in.
<v Speaker 3>His Now I must admit this is done, of course
<v Speaker 3>for quote unquote comedic purposes.
<v Speaker 1>It's more stressful and it's funny, but at the same time,
<v Speaker 1>I would just like I was not here. We can't
<v Speaker 1>do it. Yeah, sorry, cut to the next item, or
<v Speaker 1>how about you go, hey, Bart, you saw a singing
<v Speaker 1>this fucking song. Haven't you sing it with me? Something
<v Speaker 1>like that? I thought, but was a bit of a
<v Speaker 1>ship head. It's like you've seen the bit, you've seen
<v Speaker 1>the letters gag. But well, I think Bart's purpose in
<v Speaker 1>this episode was to be a little ship Yeah. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's pretty much his purpose in the show these days,
<v Speaker 1>isn't it kind of is you like potato?
<v Speaker 4>You like tomato? Potato tomato. Let's call the whole thing.
<v Speaker 1>I'm coming march.
<v Speaker 4>Let him go, lou Someone going that fast has no
<v Speaker 4>time for a ticket? Okay, who's ready for a wedding thing?
<v Speaker 2>Not not joke? Whoa start the joke?
<v Speaker 3>Not?
<v Speaker 1>Who's there? I don't know that, I hear Lettuce.
<v Speaker 2>Not for me.
<v Speaker 1>He didn't let us, I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>Don't drag your kid into this.
<v Speaker 4>Let us congratulate the new couple.
<v Speaker 1>Why won't she stop right? They're there, they're there, sweetie.
<v Speaker 1>I have realized that he didn't make because much sends
<v Speaker 1>the message where were you? And he drives off the cliff.
<v Speaker 1>Now this new character, let's discuss this name. Talk about
<v Speaker 1>Ricardo Bomba, Ricado Bumba. So apparently there was a competition
<v Speaker 1>that The Simpsons was running where a fan could have
<v Speaker 1>a new character created for the show, So the episode
<v Speaker 1>featured new character created by the winner of the Best
<v Speaker 1>Character Ever Worst Episode Ever showed on.
<v Speaker 3>I honestly thought this was not a coincidence. I thought
<v Speaker 3>that dude actually did that for a reason.
<v Speaker 1>No Best Character Ever contest in which fans could submit
<v Speaker 1>their own ideas for a new and possibly possibly recurring
<v Speaker 1>Simpsons character. Dan know how many entries were sent in.
<v Speaker 1>There were twenty five thousand entries sent in, and the
<v Speaker 1>winner of the contest was a woman who was the
<v Speaker 1>age of fifty two named her. Her name was Peggy Black.
<v Speaker 1>Peggy Black, Where was she from? Yah, Orange, Orange, Connecticut.
<v Speaker 1>Who created the character Riccardo Bombar. So you say it
<v Speaker 1>your way, the fancy way, Ricardo Bomber, Yeah, we go.
<v Speaker 1>She described him as someone that all women love and
<v Speaker 1>all the men want to be so basically Brendan Dando
<v Speaker 1>Oh no, Brendan Frasier nineteen ninety eight, Brendan Danos twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty six. The Black's inspiration for the character came from
<v Speaker 1>the fact that there were no characters like him on
<v Speaker 1>The Simpsons. I think there have been characters like that right. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>but I suppose, I suppose all the men that women
<v Speaker 1>like men are jealous of on The Simpsons. Maybe, who knows,
<v Speaker 1>but it just felt very cliche. All the women want
<v Speaker 1>him and all the men wanted to be him, that
<v Speaker 1>the other way around ladies town. Yeah, because I thought
<v Speaker 1>Hank was putting his you know, he's spin on it
<v Speaker 1>very much anyway, So nastag cancel Hane is something like
<v Speaker 1>a casanova. As part of the winning prize, Black was
<v Speaker 1>sent to work with the show's producers in La She
<v Speaker 1>worked with the animators to bring the character to life.
<v Speaker 1>In an interview with The Associated Pressure, Like stated that
<v Speaker 1>she described the character and they drew him so I
<v Speaker 1>could see if that was my vision of him, and
<v Speaker 1>she continued, it's amazing to see how they captured what I imagine.
<v Speaker 1>He's over the top, he's in your face. Ricardo was
<v Speaker 1>getting busy consistently and thoroughly. Yes, it's a Executive producer
<v Speaker 1>Al Gene was one of the judges of the contest,
<v Speaker 1>which he described as a thank you to loyal fans
<v Speaker 1>publicity's done. Gene also noted that there is a possibility
<v Speaker 1>that the Ricardo character might appear on the show again,
<v Speaker 1>although this seems unlikely since the Captain piece to have
<v Speaker 1>been killed off in a fiery car crash. All right,
<v Speaker 1>and once again, what was that catch phrase that he
<v Speaker 1>got halfway through? Soon you will be mine crash? I
<v Speaker 1>wonder if they wouldn't have told her that they're going
<v Speaker 1>to kill the character off, because why would they? Because
<v Speaker 1>she I imagine somewhere deep in the paperwork, it's like, you've
<v Speaker 1>relinquished all rights of this. I mean, yeah, imagine thinking
<v Speaker 1>I've created a Simpsons character right in twenty ten, you
<v Speaker 1>watched the episode and they just kill him, You'd.
<v Speaker 3>Be like, oh man, I was getting on those residuals,
<v Speaker 3>but I just bought a boat.
<v Speaker 1>It kind of felt like a slaff in the face.
<v Speaker 1>They wouldn't. I mean, you got to go to the Simpsons,
<v Speaker 1>you got to do you won the contest. But it's like,
<v Speaker 1>what was the point?
<v Speaker 3>I get the thing that I would have to say
<v Speaker 3>to it. It's like, you're gonna be in this episode.
<v Speaker 1>And you know you're gonna might return. Yeah, who can tell?
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, we're just going to do a bit of
<v Speaker 1>a gag. Yeah, i'd you had fun, Peggy, enjoy Hollywood.
<v Speaker 3>Here I am about to start my new life in Springfield.
<v Speaker 1>What an idiot. This is the perfect time from a
<v Speaker 1>catch phrase. Soon you will be mine and as the
<v Speaker 1>end of Riccardo Bomba, soon he will be dyed. We
<v Speaker 1>hardly knew year again you would have been shadowed. But anyway,
<v Speaker 1>that's the price you payer dealing with Harleywood. But Homer
<v Speaker 1>wakes up in the hospital because he crushed his cards.
<v Speaker 1>The news report, I'm so glad, I'm surrounded on my
<v Speaker 1>my loved ones. Get out of the way. Though the
<v Speaker 1>news report says that Homer has one test Lotter doesn't
<v Speaker 1>say Homer, but it's he's winning numbers, and he realizes,
<v Speaker 1>oh my god, now I'm really glad I didn't die. Well,
<v Speaker 1>just lotto. I think tats loto was just an Australian thing. Yeah, okay,
<v Speaker 1>we caught well, we're Australian test test. It's still called
<v Speaker 1>tats lotto here here in Australia. So I always thought
<v Speaker 1>tats lotto was I thought lotto was short for tats.
<v Speaker 1>Lotter is not one word. It's tats as in tats
<v Speaker 1>owns a lotos a lottery. It's tats lotto. We used
<v Speaker 1>to abbreviate things in this country. It was great, by
<v Speaker 1>the way, I can sounds in the backgrounds my lovely
<v Speaker 1>wife in the shower apologies. That's right. Soon she will
<v Speaker 1>be mine time a four finger discount after dark? Yes,
<v Speaker 1>where so it was purchase at seven oh seven, I believe,
<v Speaker 1>he says on the news report. I just love it
<v Speaker 1>if she started singing like really off key me mama.
<v Speaker 1>She then asks him to forgive her for being angry
<v Speaker 1>at him for missing the night, and he realizes, oh
<v Speaker 1>my god, I've won a million dollars, but I can't
<v Speaker 1>tell my wife, and it would be a shit situation
<v Speaker 1>to be in. Yes, But then he says, look, just relax.
<v Speaker 1>So he relaxes to the point where he dies. He really,
<v Speaker 1>he's out of his body. His soul goes back into
<v Speaker 1>his body and he's alive again. We come back from
<v Speaker 1>commercial and Barney. He's got Barney to claim the money
<v Speaker 1>for him. So Barney says that he's the one that
<v Speaker 1>purchased the ticket, and he says the taxes, which are
<v Speaker 1>it was like three hundred million dollars something three hundred
<v Speaker 1>and fourteen and fifty six dollars and seventy eight cents. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>he's going to partially cover the cost of study to
<v Speaker 1>decide what to do with this money. Oh, bureaucracy, I know.
<v Speaker 1>Then Barney drops off the money to Homer, who hides
<v Speaker 1>it in his tree. AKA, here's what my local brand,
<v Speaker 1>local branch gets a good gag like that. Then he's like,
<v Speaker 1>I was like, what can I do with the money? Well,
<v Speaker 1>buy Hitler's baseball a talking mirror. I said, you buy
<v Speaker 1>Hitlers baseball. And that's doing that, isn't he No, that's
<v Speaker 1>thing it takes area. Is I think you should buy
<v Speaker 1>the Hitler's Yeah. Yeah. Then Barney says, you can't spend it.
<v Speaker 1>You can't spend it or Marge will know that that
<v Speaker 1>that you lied. And Marge where she comes in. She goes,
<v Speaker 1>we need a washing machine. The washing machines on the fritz.
<v Speaker 1>And I was like, oh my god, I'm a millionaire,
<v Speaker 1>but I can't even help the woman who birthed me.
<v Speaker 1>Then he says to Barney, look, you can take anything
<v Speaker 1>from the tree, and he finds somewhat some adult magazine.
<v Speaker 1>The two episodes of the episodes two issues issues I'm
<v Speaker 1>the Economist. The Economist, Yes, which sounds like a show
<v Speaker 1>that would be you know, like the mentalist. Oh economist
<v Speaker 1>is that guy's well he's like yeah, it's the TV
<v Speaker 1>spin off of the Ben Affleck action movie. The Accountant. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>I was gonna say, he's good with them. It's color numbers.
<v Speaker 1>Was was a mathematician, but this is basically a police
<v Speaker 1>procedural about a forensic accountant.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, someone who Oh this corporation is doing some shady ship.
<v Speaker 3>Oh who can who can decipher these books? Only the economist?
<v Speaker 1>There we go that ticket to success. Hoay, the economy
<v Speaker 1>was waiting for it. I don't put money into tesslo
<v Speaker 1>like an idiot. So yes, you could probably fucking do
<v Speaker 1>it the economist. You could mate, literally could make the
<v Speaker 1>economist make let's make it happen, but least then hooks
<v Speaker 1>up the Z and she encourages activity and exercise, and
<v Speaker 1>she suggests they played the tennis game, which I'm very
<v Speaker 1>much the old people in front of a new tech.
<v Speaker 1>Oh what I've got to scroll through this? What the
<v Speaker 1>thing is? I love the tennis game, but I always
<v Speaker 1>preferred we bowling. We bowling was the selling everyone loved
<v Speaker 1>we Boling's like, whoo so good, I need get way
<v Speaker 1>out at Leic's been playing guitar here on the way
<v Speaker 1>I think I mentioned, but yeah, we bowling. I have
<v Speaker 1>got the way out. I was so excited to expid
<v Speaker 1>I was so excited to play with sports. I had
<v Speaker 1>the cover on the shelf for like years, got it out,
<v Speaker 1>dusted it off, opened it up. No disc what I'm like?
<v Speaker 1>Where the disco? Where the fuck? Discom so disappointed. I'm
<v Speaker 1>like fifteen dollars. But I loved all the old people
<v Speaker 1>here getting excited and the old Jewish guy. I think
<v Speaker 1>sense up coming. Yes, later, I'm looking at a poop. Later,
<v Speaker 1>when out the park and Homer throws the frisbee too
<v Speaker 1>the bush and forces Bart to go get it. He
<v Speaker 1>went into something big the box. It's a washing machine,
<v Speaker 1>and then he throws Bart to the utat. Yes like
<v Speaker 1>the hul Oh yes that's right. Yes. So basically this
<v Speaker 1>is where Homer is going to start now buying presents
<v Speaker 1>for his family without them realizing that it's actually him
<v Speaker 1>buying them. So we'll get a montage with everyone finding things.
<v Speaker 1>So Lisa finds tickets to the Philharmonic, Sprinkletsic but gets
<v Speaker 1>has extra medication that he needs on his burger Jimdicone. Yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>Marge has items in the car wash. Well, he puts
<v Speaker 1>on his scuba suit while the car was going through
<v Speaker 1>the car wash and fills the fills it full of
<v Speaker 1>stuff looks like kitchen appliances. What someone's playing at this point,
<v Speaker 1>That's a really good question, because I was trying to
<v Speaker 1>think of that mass So it was a song playing, Yes,
<v Speaker 1>let us know, listeners, we'll bag it forth a discount
<v Speaker 1>I work for us. Yes, Then he gets santasl Halber,
<v Speaker 1>not just the bone, but a dinosaur skeleton. Yes, he
<v Speaker 1>digs up in the backyard. Marge finds a necklace in
<v Speaker 1>the nappy or the daper. They can't They couldn't be
<v Speaker 1>good for anybody. Certainly couldn't been good for Maggie. And
<v Speaker 1>I'm guessing who's gonna wear who's gonna wear? To wear
<v Speaker 1>a nice bracelet after it's been near child's part, when
<v Speaker 1>you've had your child sho over your hand and stuff,
<v Speaker 1>you don't care anymore. It doesn't matter. We just talked
<v Speaker 1>about the smelly car. That talking Patreon now. But Homer
<v Speaker 1>then realizes that he hasn't got much money left in
<v Speaker 1>his local branch. And but then finds him this scene
<v Speaker 1>here he separates his shoulder. There's something about the sound
<v Speaker 1>and that it's there when he's trying to move up.
<v Speaker 1>Was it a Dislokay? I thought I thought he busted
<v Speaker 1>his arm again because I thought he did something. But
<v Speaker 1>he's fine the next the next day. Yeah, maybe it's
<v Speaker 1>like a I thought it was like a discasion or something.
<v Speaker 1>But it's just gross that sound of the st the
<v Speaker 1>ligaments and not of me. So we come up fro
<v Speaker 1>commercial and Bart's basically figured it all out and is like,
<v Speaker 1>how can I make the most of this situation? Is
<v Speaker 1>it your workout or at least you're out of the
<v Speaker 1>house a lot. Yeah, so you haven't got Harris says here,
<v Speaker 1>if I was interested in fun, i'd left before you
<v Speaker 1>were born or something like that. I'm like, it's been mean,
<v Speaker 1>but says no, you need to treat yourself, and yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I need to stop being telephoned Jerry Lewis and the
<v Speaker 1>rest of the year Jerry Lewis, And he asked, but
<v Speaker 1>how do I how do I treat myself? And then
<v Speaker 1>moa rise for his cut and I was like, kind
<v Speaker 1>of what he's like, I don't know. I was going
<v Speaker 1>around saying this and hoping it's applicable to something. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>need to get mowing. It was a pointless to try
<v Speaker 1>and slide Mow into episodes. It happened in the episode
<v Speaker 1>where had the Moonshine. Remember he rocked up for the
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, yeah, I got nothing against bringing in mum.
<v Speaker 1>I'm very happy when more shows up at the same time.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, I think I would prefer to if this
<v Speaker 1>joke had more of a purpose. Then we get the
<v Speaker 1>Coldplay appearance here. Chris Martin actually has a guest role here,
<v Speaker 1>which would have been a big deal in twenty ten.
<v Speaker 1>This episode of ED, they're playing what song is that called? Uh?
<v Speaker 1>When I Ruled the World is as it's called When
<v Speaker 1>I Rule the World? I know that's the lyrics. Let see,
<v Speaker 1>Well it's the Wo Wo song. It's called Viva La Vida,
<v Speaker 1>Viva La It's using a lot of like you know,
<v Speaker 1>soccer World Cups and that kind of thing. It's to
<v Speaker 1>live in La vida Loca of twenty ten. Well, like Coldplay,
<v Speaker 1>I mean they'd been making some nice bank from that.
<v Speaker 1>Oh make a nice bank from a lot of things. Well, yeah, yes,
<v Speaker 1>And as I learned at the start, no longer married
<v Speaker 1>to Quinnith Pultrait correct consciously uncoupled. I'm glad I got
<v Speaker 1>to introduce him to that phrase. But I didn't mind
<v Speaker 1>this guest appearance. It was short and sweet. So homers there.
<v Speaker 1>They've paid for a Coldplay concept themselves, and I wonder
<v Speaker 1>how much that costs to rent Coldplay for an event.
<v Speaker 1>I think you'd have to be like a a Saudi
<v Speaker 1>prince or something along. Yeah, I'm thinking, aw, some tech baron,
<v Speaker 1>I reckon they do it for ten million. Yeah, probably
<v Speaker 1>ten million for one gi. I mean if you say
<v Speaker 1>no to that, then then you don't deserved it. Well,
<v Speaker 1>I was reading about it was I think it was
<v Speaker 1>one of the co founders of Twitter, Jack Dorsey. I
<v Speaker 1>didn't know what happened. I remember reading something about, well
<v Speaker 1>he now had some company that owns like part of
<v Speaker 1>after pay or something like that. Okay, and there was like, Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Australian staff members of after pay, come on over to California.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna have like a serving Safari and we're gonna
<v Speaker 1>have a party and jay Z is going to present
<v Speaker 1>and all this kind of something. They've spent like something
<v Speaker 1>this's like sixty two million on the whole thing, and
<v Speaker 1>then like two months later, I was like, oh, by
<v Speaker 1>the way, you're all fired. By the way he is
<v Speaker 1>doing things now. It's like when when Toyota I think
<v Speaker 1>it was Toyota. I mean I could be maybe it
<v Speaker 1>was holding. It wasn't for it. It was another car
<v Speaker 1>manufacturer in Australia. Hey, we've got a meeting across the road. Guys,
<v Speaker 1>just hop on his bus for us. Got on the bus.
<v Speaker 1>They said they're going somewhere for a meeting. Drove him
<v Speaker 1>to an empty lot on the other side of the
<v Speaker 1>street and said, right, you're all fired. What the hell
<v Speaker 1>It's like when you break up with someone's like, let's
<v Speaker 1>do this is a public place. I don't make a
<v Speaker 1>scene and they still make a scene. Hell yeah. But anyway,
<v Speaker 1>so the Coplay concert, Homer says, but pauses them to
<v Speaker 1>go to the toilet, and Homo says, you want someone
<v Speaker 1>to play like him on stage, play tamburine, I think,
<v Speaker 1>like you can do it, No know, someone like me
<v Speaker 1>on stage. Then they go for a zero gravity experience
<v Speaker 1>up in not space but just high enough where you've
<v Speaker 1>got a zero gravity and I'm flying like Superman's dog.
<v Speaker 1>And then they Burp, Like I want to say, like
<v Speaker 1>Willy Wonka really want a scene which apparently wasn't in
<v Speaker 1>the original book where they nearly get eaten by the
<v Speaker 1>blades or something added he lifting drinks. Yeah, I think
<v Speaker 1>I was all added for the movie. I could be wrong,
<v Speaker 1>but I remember because Ali's been reading Charlie and the
<v Speaker 1>Chocolate Factory and he didn't know what happened in that party.
<v Speaker 1>He's like, this part is not in the book. I
<v Speaker 1>think I could be wrong, though, it would be another part.
<v Speaker 1>That's good that he's rant a bit of roll down. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>And as with the Great Fource, he's in Great two.
<v Speaker 1>Good on him, legend put him onto Fantastic mister Fox
<v Speaker 1>and Danny the Champion on the World next.
<v Speaker 3>You like that?
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, had some great stuff. Who did James and
<v Speaker 1>the j Pitch? Who did the Wishing Tree? That's Eden
<v Speaker 1>Blood and that's the one. Yeah, he did the Wishing
<v Speaker 1>Tree and the Lady. I think I think it was
<v Speaker 1>the Wishing Chair and the Magic Far Away Tree, which
<v Speaker 1>is about to be seen on the big screen. Really,
<v Speaker 1>because they were massive hits in my primary school, we
<v Speaker 1>always always bust those out. We loved it. Oh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>Ianan Blant was very big. Yeah yeah yeah, famous five
<v Speaker 1>Secret seven. But she also did those fantasy books about Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I think it was the Magic Far Away Tree, and
<v Speaker 1>but something about a wishing chair. It's the Wishing Chair.
<v Speaker 1>Yeahah yeah, it's got little wings on its legs and yeah,
<v Speaker 1>you fly off and are still visualized. Broway Tree was
<v Speaker 1>fucking dope though. I love those books. Yeah, well, there'll
<v Speaker 1>be hits in our primary school. Our school was quite poor,
<v Speaker 1>so we had, like when it came to the VHS,
<v Speaker 1>we had Cop and a half, Yes she get talking siphoned,
<v Speaker 1>but we had set the collection of Round the Twist.
<v Speaker 1>So whenever it was like a rainy days, which episode
<v Speaker 1>Round the Twist? Were watching? Kids? Which book? Do you
<v Speaker 1>want the Wishing Chair? More? The Faraway? But then the
<v Speaker 1>old folks are still playing tennis. They feel fit, they're
<v Speaker 1>having a great time. That it's rejuvenated their lives. Another
<v Speaker 1>round of waters in your finest paper cups.
<v Speaker 2>And I like a fresh pair of socks tomorrow, a
<v Speaker 2>matching pair. I want to put salt, done things, tell
<v Speaker 2>me what my name is, take away my roommate is dead.
<v Speaker 1>You know, they're energized now, they're full of life. Because
<v Speaker 1>of this z that Lisa's done a great thing for him,
<v Speaker 1>and the nurses are not fans at all. No, they
<v Speaker 1>didn't seem that overworked, the nurses. They just had to
<v Speaker 1>do their job. Yes, home and then see if I
<v Speaker 1>was in that work right. Obviously, I've never worked in
<v Speaker 1>that line of work. Obviously it has its ups and downs.
<v Speaker 1>But I would rather be kept busy than sitting there
<v Speaker 1>board all day. Oh absolutely, I don't want them against boredom.
<v Speaker 1>I don't sit there being zombies. I'm don't worry, man.
<v Speaker 1>That's what we're all going to be ahead. And eventually,
<v Speaker 1>I mean not the old people.
<v Speaker 3>That's we're going to be looking after the old people
<v Speaker 3>for a little while, because that's just the way the
<v Speaker 3>economy's gone.
<v Speaker 1>This is where Homer says, He's like, I'm no longer
<v Speaker 1>spoiling you, but I've had enough, as where Bart threatens
<v Speaker 1>to tell March but it's been a bit of a
<v Speaker 1>shit here. Oh yeah, you can kind of buy it.
<v Speaker 1>But also, dude, it has been buying a lot of stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Haven't you just put your head in? Oh well, this
<v Speaker 1>is a necessary heel term for the story, Yes it is.
<v Speaker 1>He tries to choke Bart in space, but he dances
<v Speaker 1>only spins around, but Bart, she's basically making the most
<v Speaker 1>of the situation. Lisa then arrives at the nursing home
<v Speaker 1>and they're all just sitting there like zombies at the
<v Speaker 1>TV again, and turns out the nurses and said, look,
<v Speaker 1>so they can't go to the dish wash why would
<v Speaker 1>you put in the dishwashow? And they look shady. He's like,
<v Speaker 1>you meant to do that, and they basically want them
<v Speaker 1>to be zombies. It makes our jobs easier. They should
<v Speaker 1>have had their fun before they got here. Yeah, good line.
<v Speaker 1>It is, Yeah, sad line. Funny line, but yeah, it
<v Speaker 1>felt very much like saying Simpsons gay. Lisa walks out
<v Speaker 1>sad and that's the end of the story. And I
<v Speaker 1>thought that's what Actually, yeah, that's right. We don't get anymore.
<v Speaker 1>That's that's that's the end of It's like, oh, they're
<v Speaker 1>just oh they're just sad and miserable. Again, that's kind
<v Speaker 1>of bleak. How about Lisa, you just go out and
<v Speaker 1>buy another z for him. We'll actually get them tennis
<v Speaker 1>rackets or tell them that, hey, she put it the
<v Speaker 1>dish was make sure she doesn't put this next one
<v Speaker 1>in there, but that would give it. I mean no,
<v Speaker 1>she words status quo. They're about to eat some paninis
<v Speaker 1>that Marge has made on her new toasted, but the
<v Speaker 1>Homer purchase that's wide enough to make paninis. I love
<v Speaker 1>a good panini. When we used to go to the footy,
<v Speaker 1>we saw the food obviously, but we used to have
<v Speaker 1>we still have. So okay, where are we in this story?
<v Speaker 1>When I used to go to the footy before we
<v Speaker 1>had Alliott, I used to always walk across to the
<v Speaker 1>apco across the road from the footy ground and buy
<v Speaker 1>my lunch in the app Cooke because they have good
<v Speaker 1>tucker in there, right, And they'd always have a chicken
<v Speaker 1>palmi panini and it was just basically chicken parmegana with
<v Speaker 1>like the napoli sauce and the cheese, but it was
<v Speaker 1>like toasted in the panini. It's fucking delicious. It was
<v Speaker 1>only eight dollars, right, so I used to get two obviously,
<v Speaker 1>as you would. That's two for fifteen. So why wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>you right save the dollar now? Because now they're gonna
<v Speaker 1>watch Elliott can't leave the Ground'm not gonna take an
<v Speaker 1>Alliant across the way blah blah blah blah. But I
<v Speaker 1>just have memories of you'll deny your son and panini?
<v Speaker 1>What's wrong with you? It's the hassle of getting with
<v Speaker 1>a child. But the thing is eating those paninies from Abco.
<v Speaker 1>I just have memories of. Whenever think of paniam, it's
<v Speaker 1>the palmi panini that was so delicious. What's your favorite
<v Speaker 1>kind of panini? I think you'd be like a salami
<v Speaker 1>and cheese. Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, yeah. I mean what
<v Speaker 1>is it about the bread that makes a panine so delicious?
<v Speaker 1>Though it's it's it's base different likes. It's like a
<v Speaker 1>flat bread. It's a little yeah, it's not quite as
<v Speaker 1>and it's thick, but it's not overbearingly thing that's right. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Plus the toasting I think it does a just doing
<v Speaker 1>a lot of the work there. I used to know
<v Speaker 1>a girl. They did a girl. Some would say would
<v Speaker 1>buy a panini. The girl would say that, yeah, we'd
<v Speaker 1>buy a panini and she wouldn't toast it. And it
<v Speaker 1>always baffled me. She would always eat just this cold,
<v Speaker 1>this coldad of the fish. And I'm like, but it's taste.
<v Speaker 1>She tastes butter on it's warm. She's like, nah, I
<v Speaker 1>don't like the mud of the cheese. I'm like, well sometimes.
<v Speaker 3>Sometimes sometimes, know, I mean I will more often than
<v Speaker 3>not toast a sandwich you got, yeah, but every once
<v Speaker 3>in a while. I mean, you've got fresh bread, you
<v Speaker 3>got ingreens straight from the deli or whatever.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, oh, these breads are soft. It's like biting
<v Speaker 1>into a cloud. Yeah. I did this the other day,
<v Speaker 1>I guess, you know, I got some mortar dellas, some
<v Speaker 1>just the rest of the Boordain sandwich. Yeah, man, And
<v Speaker 1>I was like, normally I would toast this. It's stuck
<v Speaker 1>with you.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and this is my favorite sandwich. Me and Boordain
<v Speaker 3>are like that. But yeah, for the time being, it's like,
<v Speaker 3>this is going to be my sandwich. But I had
<v Speaker 3>all fresh and greens, like, you know what, I could
<v Speaker 3>toast this, but I think it's going to taste just
<v Speaker 3>as nice.
<v Speaker 1>Fresh and it's good. You're gonna be careful not to
<v Speaker 1>overtoasted his bockle, you know what. The bread to be crispy.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Please tune in for more cooking tips from Yeah. It's
<v Speaker 3>like a pretty sea cook except that cook.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah without Yeah, let's a good turn check out. Check
<v Speaker 1>out our towels if you're the thirty percent Iron Chef,
<v Speaker 1>which reviewed exclusively for Out. Well, do you remember where
<v Speaker 1>we were talking about the job monetation? Whenever we have
<v Speaker 1>back for I'm like, where do we have this afterate
<v Speaker 1>people aware of what's going on here? Or you could
<v Speaker 1>just listen to every episode. We put a supporter of
<v Speaker 1>ours on pages and you get access to all the
<v Speaker 1>over two hundred hours of bonus content and you'll get
<v Speaker 1>the grand mosaic of all the references that Dan to
<v Speaker 1>when I make Indeed. Yeah, but Bart nearly tells Marge here,
<v Speaker 1>did you think that the thing came from the government
<v Speaker 1>because it's from the gunment or something Homo rights. I
<v Speaker 1>think same from the government anyway, the Stimilars package. She
<v Speaker 1>asked about Bart's presentation and says, what Dad's going to
<v Speaker 1>be the Neanthal Man, and Home is like denying. He's like, nah,
<v Speaker 1>I don't want to, Like, I'll tell you Mark, Fine,
<v Speaker 1>I'll take you. I'll do it for real. Ship. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so we come to school and he's playing a Neanderthal man.
<v Speaker 1>Come on Missing Link, put on a show Evolve Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>just yeah, I think it's sprain your ankle and no,
<v Speaker 1>it's a death sentence and that kind of stuff anyway,
<v Speaker 1>and he gets extra credit for getting a doing the
<v Speaker 1>Caveman break dance. Then Bart needs Homer to rickshaw him
<v Speaker 1>to Phsucker practice, and he sees himself in the reflection
<v Speaker 1>and his quits. He goes, no, I'm not doing this anymore,
<v Speaker 1>not gonna happen. He says he's going to tell Marge first,
<v Speaker 1>and then Milhouse takes over. He says, just because you're
<v Speaker 1>my best friend, afraid to use to whip. Then Homer
<v Speaker 1>has got Marge on a hot air balloon. But I
<v Speaker 1>really like this though, because we often say you often
<v Speaker 1>say I think I'm a bit more sort of forgiving,
<v Speaker 1>but you often say that the emotional endings in the
<v Speaker 1>recent episodes aren't earned. I think Homer earned this. But
<v Speaker 1>I think throughout the episode he was doing as I said,
<v Speaker 1>He was doing nothing but positive things to the families,
<v Speaker 1>and for the right reasons. He wasn't he What was
<v Speaker 1>he getting out of any of this besides helping his family?
<v Speaker 1>Not a whole lot. I never saw him buy anything
<v Speaker 1>for himself, except for when Bart said no, the bad,
<v Speaker 1>the bad Voice of reason spoil yourself. Besides that, Homer's
<v Speaker 1>incentive was to please his family. Correct. So he comes
<v Speaker 1>clean and she says she doesn't care. I've got a
<v Speaker 1>million dollars and he's like, well, I actually know that
<v Speaker 1>the taxman took a lot of it, and you know,
<v Speaker 1>I've put a lot of things for you, and I
<v Speaker 1>didn't realize he could actually hire a blow yes. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>And then she's like, oh, so back to where we were,
<v Speaker 1>and he's like, yes, but look it down and she
<v Speaker 1>seeves the cherry blossoms which spell love of my Life.
<v Speaker 1>And then they sing the song, which was you know,
<v Speaker 1>you say potato, I say potato. Nice little callback brought
<v Speaker 1>everything full circle. They finally got to do their song
<v Speaker 1>as they're flying over the fields that has love of
<v Speaker 1>my Life. And as it's flying away, we'll see another
<v Speaker 1>separate field that has Homer's face saying whew. That's the
<v Speaker 1>end of the episode. A million dollars. Maybe this episode
<v Speaker 1>surprised me. I really had no memories of this episode,
<v Speaker 1>very low expectations. I thought there was going to be
<v Speaker 1>another Grand par episode for some reason because maybe rhyms
<v Speaker 1>of ab maybe, But I yeah, I was. I enjoyed
<v Speaker 1>the b plot besides the bleak ending, I thought Homer
<v Speaker 1>was great route For the most part, Homa did well. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I mean a fuck up, but for the right reasons. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>a fuck up that was selfish, but you could see
<v Speaker 1>yourself doing.
<v Speaker 3>It justifiable, yes, or explainable or relatable is probably the
<v Speaker 3>best way to put it.
<v Speaker 1>And I thought they made Marge's sort of what shit
<v Speaker 1>to go through the emotional turmoil being up on stage that,
<v Speaker 1>Oh absolutely. I couldn't imagine being up on stage and
<v Speaker 1>just bombing like that. It was just it would destroy me. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so I just thought, overall, this is a very would
<v Speaker 1>never happened. You think on your feet too well? No, no, no,
<v Speaker 1>I thought this was a very well written episode. So
<v Speaker 1>while done to our man, Bill Odenkirk, good job, indeed,
<v Speaker 1>not just the brother of Bob, No not. Indeed, what
<v Speaker 1>do we learn Bomber? So what'd you learn from the episode,
<v Speaker 1>mister Davis? Oh? What did I learn? The tax rate
<v Speaker 1>for lottery winnings in the US, It's insane. I learned
<v Speaker 1>that if Simpsons ever invited us to create catter for
<v Speaker 1>the show, don't expect it to be a man for
<v Speaker 1>more than like three seasonds. Don't expect those sweet sweet
<v Speaker 1>brigidus from forward. Your names will be all right, mister Davis,
<v Speaker 1>it is time now for the Guy Davis New Nan Championship.
<v Speaker 1>The current leaderboard stands at this In first position we
<v Speaker 1>have Philip Jay Hawkins on sixteen points. In second position
<v Speaker 1>we have Kevin Cale Kyle Mouldoon on nine points, and
<v Speaker 1>in third position we have Nathan Briggs Briggsy on eight points.
<v Speaker 1>Take it way, nice one, Brigsy. All right. One point
<v Speaker 1>goes to dope millionaire. Dope millionaire? Do you really you
<v Speaker 1>know what this is reference to me? I don't. I
<v Speaker 1>was about to ask you. There was a reality TV
<v Speaker 1>show in the early two thousands called Joe Million of
<v Speaker 1>course it was, which was bacheloreesque. It's like, hey, look
<v Speaker 1>at this handsome guy and guess what. He's got a
<v Speaker 1>whole lot of money. Ladies, oh, vie for his hand,
<v Speaker 1>and then at the end you realize, oh, it's revealed
<v Speaker 1>like he's just an average Joe doesn't have a millionaire.
<v Speaker 1>He works a subway. His name is but yeah, so
<v Speaker 1>that's where dope millionaire comes from. All right, So that
<v Speaker 1>is clever car or clever title. Clever title by clever car.
<v Speaker 1>Two points go to luck be a Shady, be a shady.
<v Speaker 1>That one is Heath appleby which I believe is Heath's
<v Speaker 1>first points for the season. One on Heath. Wow, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>good one Heath. But three points goes to whole Lotto
<v Speaker 1>Love Hawks PJH Again he's chloring away. Let's say, like
<v Speaker 1>episode ten of the season, it's still halfway through. There's
<v Speaker 1>still plenty of time, but Philip J. Hawgens is currently
<v Speaker 1>nine points ahead. That's an early lead, isn't it. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>early lead to Philip J. Hawks. He's back with a vengeance.
<v Speaker 1>Iver Kyle on ten points in second, and Nathan Briggs
<v Speaker 1>still in third on eight points. So well done Philip
<v Speaker 1>jay Hawgens for getting the three points again. Well you
<v Speaker 1>will really earned that, j Film and it is I
<v Speaker 1>probably it is not rig no no, whatever happened to
<v Speaker 1>Jared by the way, you need me, Jared, he's just
<v Speaker 1>got I think I think ship Philip Ja's back, get
<v Speaker 1>out of here. I think he was probably just a
<v Speaker 1>little annoyed that every time his name came up would
<v Speaker 1>go he named me. Yeah, I see you lead no
