I Wasn’t Thinking About Bigfoot At All - My Bigfoot Sighting Episode 93

My Bigfoot Sighting

Tonight’s guest, Dom, had grown tired of working 12 hour shifts, at his local Amazon distribution center, in Columbus, Ohio, so decided to quit and take some much-needed time off. He could have done countless things to recharge his batteries, but decided that going on a camping trip, in Minnesota, was the best way for him to do that. He has family in Minnesota, so he planned to visit them after the camping trip. Unfortunately, his camping trip didn't prove to be very relaxing. You see, when he decided to go on that camping trip, he thought he was ready to handle just about anything you'd expect to deal with. The problem was, he wasn't thinking about Bigfoot at all.

Here you there, Thanks for tuning in. You're ready for another episode of
My big Foot Sighting? All right, then let's do this. Seen a
bunch of run down, no horse towns where the Church of the Backbone was
in the power and the fostring melodies cove in with the bombman rose, where
the roots run deep beyond the noise of the busy streets with the songs of
the South. Or so then when I hear the prom boat picking down home
rhythm bringing out I Don't Run from Banjum music. Yeah, my big Foot
sighting has happened about thirty five minutes north of the Luth, Minnesota. Back
in August of twenty twenty, I was working at an Amazon warehouse, doing
twelve hours shifts through the night, and it was completely demoralizing to me,
and I was feeling down and terrible all the time because working in the nights,
I was work all night for five days and then not be able to
do anything on my days off and I'll be able to relax hang out with
my friends. So I decided that I was gonna quit working at Amazon and
go on a solo camping trip. I was going to drive from Columbus Ohio
where I live, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I have family, and
I was going to hang out with them for a couple of days, and
then I was going to drive up north and go camping, solo camping by
myself. So I planned on being up there for twelve days, I think,
and then I was going to drive across country to San Diego, California
and hang out with my best friend who stationed over there in the Navy.
So I packed up all my stuff at the beginning of August. I think
I left August first. I packed up my tent, my machete, all
my camping stuff, my bear spray. And I'm from the city. I
was born and raised in Columbus, but I like to think that I'm an
outdoorsman. But I know for a fact now that I am the furthest thing
from an outdoorsman, and I'm the furthest person who should be so low camping
in the middle of nowhere. So I packed up all my stuff, and
I grabbed my Dad's Mysterious Monster Book because my dad has always been talking about
big Foot, and I was always interested in the subject because my dad was
so passionate about it. At my Grandma's house. There was a picture of
him when he was like fourteen or something holding up a little big foot cut
out he did for his science fair project at his school. So I took
that book because I was really interested in him. I thought, if I'm
gonna go out in the woods, I'm gonna go out there and read this
book because I don't do too much reading nowadays, and I was gonna read
this book and really soaking all the information because I've always been interested in it
because of my dad. So I drove up Minnesota. I spent some time
with my family, and then I drove. I don't know how long it
is from Minneapolis to Duluth, but I made that drive. And then I
was going on my phone and looking up three spots to camp online, just
because that was the only way I knew how to find a place to camp.
I just wasn't real prepared. So I got up to Duluth and I
was using the app, and I found this place called the Carol Truck Path.
It was like a forty five minute to thirty five minute drive north of
Duluth and to this place called the Cloque Valley, this big forested area with
lots of lakes in Minnesota has lakes everywhere. I'm driving up there, and
then like ten minutes outside of Duluth, on this thirty five to forty five
minute drive, I lose phone service completely. So I was kind of a
little nervous at that point, just because I was wondering if anything happened,
I wouldn't have phone service all the way out there. But it wasn't too
big of a deal. I was driving all the way up north and I
passed this little town. I don't know what the name of the town is.
But when I was at my cousin's house earlier in my trip, they
had a weird Minnesota book and I was going through it, and the town
was in the book for like whatever the they were claiming that they were like
the capital of Bigfoot in the United States or whatever. It's just a small
little town, and they had this big big Foot statue outside of their welcome
cabin, I guess it was. And I drove by and I saw it,
and I was like, that's pretty funny because I just was reading about
this place in the book and I didn't even know that it was on the
way up to where I was going. In Cloque Valley. So I was
driving up there and there's this big, long stretch of road that you drive
down. Everything's covered in trees, like there's trees. If there's not water,
then there's trees covering everything. And it's like the most dense forests I've
ever seen. But I'm from Columbus, Ohio, so I haven't seen too
many forests. But it was extremely dense, like you couldn't see in between
the trees at all. If you see in between them, then there's one
right in between them that will block your vision from going any further. So
it was like the most dense forests I've ever seen. A big long I
just call Christmas trees, but they're not Christmas trees. It looked similar to
Christmas trees, big green trees. But there's this long path that you gotta
drive down, and then on the right is this dirt road that goes back
into the woods, like I think it was seven miles, and it winds,
it goes all these crazy directions, winds all the way back, and
at the very back of that path it runs straight into the river and there's
like this little dirt boat ramp. I guess you could see that people launched
their boats from there and maybe go fishing on that. There was a river
and that was Carol truck path. So I hooked it right there, drove
all the way back to the very back, and as soon as I pulled
up to the very back, I have a little coop. It was a
little red coop ruload to the ground. Is not the best bird going off
the roads, and there was dirt and rocks and everything. So I got
to the very end and I hopped out. At the very end, there's
the river, but then like fifty yards back from the river, there's this
like clear opening. It's like one hundred feet total diameter. It's probably like
one hundred foot by one hundred ft of a clearing that looked like a little
camping spot. And there was two women there who were taking out their tents
and stuff. And I got out to check on my car tires and make
sure everything was good. I didn't have a flat or anything. We're driving
seven miles into the most dense forest I've ever seen, and I planned on
camping there that night, but the women were there and they were setting up
or whatever. So I got in my car and drove like four miles back.
So I was in the middle of the dirt road that drives all the
way back to the river spot. And I found like a little inlet off
of the road that looked like people maybe had their campers set up there maybe
in the past. And I pulled off there, and I decided that that
was where I was going to camp for the night. And it was the
sun was going down. It was like seven o'clock in August, so the
sun was starting to set, and I got out to set up my tent,
and I just started feeling like real scared and uneasy, which I didn't
understand because I knew that there was women just right up the lane, so
I felt like I had people around me, so I should be safe.
I started feeling real uneasy and scared. So I got in my car and
drove like a mile back. So I was like right near the entrance of
the path, but like only a mile deep into it. And I pulled
my car up and I backed into the spot so I could see everything.
I could see the road and see everything because at this point, for some
reason, I felt uneasy and I was worried about I don't know, like
Cannibal hillbuilties or something. I was just for some reason, I just always
had this irrational fear of hillbillies from like the hills have eyes and stuff like
that. So I was just when I felt uneasy, I just felt like
I should just sleep in my car, backed up in the spot so I
could look at the road, and the road curved around back into the forest.
There was like a little field to my left, it was like a
little grass field or like tall grass, and then to my right was just
all trees and then the path where I just came from the river. So
to the right is how to get further back to the river and straight ahead,
and then to the left is how to get to the big concrete road
that you turn off to to get onto the dirt road. So I parked
up so I'm facing so if anything happened, I could just pull straight out
and go straight ahead and then hook the left and get to the asphalt road.
And there was this field to my left worst to my right, and
then I just decided that I was just going to sleep there for the night
in my car, so I pulled my car seat alway back, I leaned
back, and I fell asleep. And then at some point, I don't
really know if this was a dream or if this really happened, because it
just frustrates me because I was the only one there and I just wish someone
was there to verify that it actually happened. Because in the middle of the
night, I opened my eyes and I was facing the passenger side door like
I was sleeping on that side, so I was facing the passenger side door
on my right shoulder. I woke up and then I remember feeling uncomfortable,
so I was going to adjust myself, and then when I turned over to
my left shoulder to sleep on that shoulder, there was a giant hand on
my driver's side window. And like you know when you touch something warm on
something cold and it gets like frosty on the sides or whatever. That was
happening with this giant the hand was I was driving. I had a twenty
fourteen Toyota Scion Poop, and the hand was taken up, its fingers were
touching the top of the window all the way to the bottom of the window.
And as soon as I rolled over and saw the hand, it was
like a like a super dark hand, like super dark brown. And as
soon as I rolled over and saw the hand this giant. I'm six four
and this dude was nine to ten ft and I played basketball so for all
my life, so it was like head at the rim is it was the
biggest thing ever. And it pulled its hand back and was just looking at
me, and it was like its steam from its nose. The steam from
its nose was blogging up the driver's side window while I was looking at me.
And then this is what makes me think that it was like a dream
or something, because I didn't even freak out at all. I just turned
back onto my right shoulder and fell straight back to sleep. So I don't
really understand it, but that was my first encounter, and I woke up
in the morning and I was, like, I thought that I was just
I don't even know what I thought. I thought that maybe reading the Mysterious
Monsters book made me have like the most vivid dream I've ever had in my
life, because I never had it. I've never had a dream where I
wake up ever, And like I was, I don't I don't know because
I remember physical stuff from that, so I I don't know. I just
wish someone was there to like verify, like it just kind of makes me
angry because I don't know what I saw or what I saw was real,
or if I just had some crazy, vivid dream. But that was the
first night, and then so I started getting freaked out. I was like,
I'm going to cancel my trips. I'm not about to drive cross country
and see my friend in San Diego just too I'm just too nervous or whatever.
And I was planning on leaving that morning and driving back to Ohio.
I just is like feeling scared or something. I don't know what I was
feeling. I just wanted to go back home. But I told myself,
I was like, man, I'm not just about to waste this trip that
was supposed to be a little getaway from me from my garbage situation with Amazon.
Just get a little getaway. I'm not gonna waste that just because I
get spooped, because it's not really in my character to let stuff spoop me
or to like act like a coward. And I was looking at that as
a coward move. Leaving that night, so I drove back down to where
the women were setting up their camps. Back in the I guess I would
be considered the main camping area, but it didn't really look like this was
like a place where people were camping. It was in the middle of like
a giant state forest. It was in the Cloque Valley, but I don't
know what the forest was called. But that morning I got up and I
drove back down to the where the trail ends, and there's the river,
and the women already had their stuff packed up and were like booking it out
of there. And then I went down there and I was still contemplating if
I should just go back to Columbus and just call it quits, because I
was just feeling homesick at that point, and I just really wasn't well equipped
for this trip as I thought I was, because I'm a naive city dude
who thinks that he could just go out in the woods because he watched Steve
Irwin growing up and he's gonna be perfectly fine. But I was sitting at
the river and I was like, man, this is such a beautiful day.
I just really can't. I gotta stay at least one more night.
And right when I was thinking that, a bald eagle flew down and like
flew across the top of the water all the way I could see it for
like its whole flight. I could see all the way up and down the
river as far as I could see. I watched it fly straight in front
of me, like fifteen feet in front of me, right in the middle
of the river, and I just took that as a sign and actually stay
another night. So I finished setting up my camping stuff, and then I
was like, man, I gotta go get some matches because my matches fell
in the water earlier, earlier in the week I was I got in my
car and I started pulling out to go to the nearest gas station, which
was like twenty minutes away, but I didn't have any phone service. I
just seen it when I was driving on my way there, so I was
like, I'm gonna go get some matches from the gas station. And when
I got there, when I was driving out of the dirt road, the
girl's car was parked in the middle of the dirt road and it was only
enough space for one car to get through. The woods came all the way
up to the very edge of the dirt road, and the dirt road was
only enough for one car to get through at a time, and they're stopping
in the middle of the road, and again I started getting a little like
my spider since it started tingling, and I started getting a little nervous,
like it was some type of like hillbilly ambush or something. So I started
getting a little fidgety. And then both of them ran from outside of the
woods and hopped in the car and drove away. And then I just drove
behind them, and I was confused what they were doing the woods. Maybe
they were going to the restroom, I guess, but I was just confused
what they were doing the woods. I followed their car all the way out
to the end left. I turned the left and went down the road to
the gas station, got some matches, drove the seven miles back down the
dirt road to the camping spot, and I had my tent set up right
up against the woods. It was like a clearing one hundred, so not
that big of a clearing, but still not the smallest. And trees spanned
all the way around except where the dirt road went down to the river and
the dirt road went out to the exit. But there's trees everywhere. The
tensest stuff ever. Like I think if I like shot a water pistol into
the woods. Water wouldn't get a foot into the woods. It was that
dense with trees in the daytime, I couldn't see it into the woods at
all. So I set up a little there's like a little fire singe logs
or whatever from the girl's fire, and I set up my fire. It
started to drizzle a little bit, and I didn't have any lammable stuff,
so I burnt a pair of my boxers and said it lit a fire,
and then the drizzle stopped. It was like so peaceful sitting by that fire,
and I was just reading the Mysterious Monster's Book and the birds were chirping.
The it started getting a little pinkish out, so the crickets came out
and started making noises, bugs making noises. I just felt good, and
I was like, man, you know what, I am gonna make that
trip to San Diego after all. Maybe I was just ripping out for no
reason. I just need to settle down and relax and take all the beauty
in because it was the prettiest thing I've ever seen. Because I was just
sitting by the fire and looking straight ahead down to the river and nature all
around. You can hear everything, and I just felt good, and I
decided to go to bed a little early. It was like six thirty when
I decided to go into my tent. I went my tent and I lied
down in my sleeping bag, and I was reading The Serious Monster's book,
enjoying the sound of nature around me and just feeling so peaceful, which I'm
typically an anxious dude. I think maybe that comes from living in the city
all my life, but like I'm typically like on edge a decent amount of
time, and I just felt completely at peace just sitting there relaxing, and
then I was reading my book for about thirty minutes. It was about seven
o'clock and it was like pink in the airs. Sun was starting to that.
And then my tent was set up right against the tree line, and
my car was parked ten feet from my tent but on the trail, and
it was facing the exit just so I always just had my car facing the
exit. In any case, some crazy cannibal hillbillis came out of the woods
and I had to hop in my car and feel out really quick, so
I always had that face in the exit. But there was only ten feet
from my tent. I was laying in my tent, and right to my
right is the tree line, and right to my right it had to been
like ten feet into the woods. I heard like the start of a chainsaw.
It was like someone tried to rip the chainsaw, and then it sounded
like it was gonna start, but then it cluttered out and the gas cluttered
out, and I remember thinking, right when that happened, I remember thinking,
Oh, thank gosh, there's other people out here. I was starting
to get worried that I was the only one out here, so far from
the nearest city, the nearest town. I just felt like completely in the
middle of nowhere, out there by myself. That was my first thought.
I was like, thank gosh, there's still one out here in the woods.
I'm not alone. And then like five minutes after I had that thought,
I started getting a little confused. I was like, I'm pretty sure
this is it was a state force or a national force. I'm pretty sure
it was a state force. But either way, I knew that cutting down
trees, especially with a chainsaw, if you didn't have a license or whatever,
that's illegal. So then I started getting a little worried, like,
wait, why would someone be trying to rip up a chainsaw when you're not
allowed to cut down these trees out here. I started getting a little confused,
and then my brain went into like super panic mode because then I was
like my fears were coming to life that a crazy, deranged hillbilly was going
to come out of the woods and cut me to death with the chainsaw.
But as soon as that was happening, then I was like, I started
panicking after like ten minutes after it happened. And then I started listening for
sounds to calm me down, because that's always how I calmed myself down.
I listened to something that I knows, something nice or kind or wherever,
like a bird, or I listened for traffic to calm me down if I'm
like starting to panic, because I've always lived by a road, so I'd
hear traffic all the time, so that will soothe me. So I started
listening around for sounds. I couldn't hear anything. I couldn't hear the river
flowing, which was like the river was only like fifty yards from where I
was set up at. I couldn't hear the river flowing. I couldn't hear
the bugs, the grasshoppers chirping. I couldn't hear anything. And then I
started hearing these like tweety birds, like these, well, I'm not a
nowhere a bird cause but it was like a song bird, like a nice
chirpy bird. But the sun was already almost down at this point. I
started hearing these nice chirpy birds. I was like, oh, this sound
like morning birds is nice and soothing, and it was calming me down.
I started to be like, you, you didn't really hear a chainsaw.
It was just in your imagination. Because you're so calm, You're just gonna
do anything to make yourself on edge for no reason. That was just in
your imagination. So I started focusing on the birds, and I was all
calm. And then after like ten minutes of there're twenty minutes to focus on
the birds. The sun was almost all the way down now, but you
could still see because of the stars and the moons. It was like you
could still see pretty well, and the sun wasn't all the way down yet.
But after like ten or twenty minutes passed and me listening to the birds,
to my left there was a little bit of open space and then the
tree line there was like some bush scruff right at that tree line, and
right after just a little four foot gap of bush scruff, it just went
straight back to the dense trees, the densest trees ever. And my fire
was right outside of my tent door, about fifteen feet slightly to the left,
and the bushes that I'm talking about are about fifteen feet directly left of
my campfire. So after twenty minutes of hearing the bird calls, I started
hearing the most insane It was like a gorilla and a howler monkey, because
I started doing research about monkey noises to hear what they sounded like, and
howler monkey makes this super specific sound and I heard it on one video and
it made it only like once out of all its calls, but at right
at that moment, it sounded almost exactly like these noises sounded. And they
were like, uh, it sounded like a like a gorilla and a holler
monkey trying to speak like an actual language, but it was only monkey noises,
but like super deep and super guttural and like it was. They were
going all crazy right from that little patch bush area. And I'm I have
like the worst vision of anyone I know. I have like horrible vision.
I don't wear glasses or contacts or anything like that, so I couldn't really
tell if I could see anything at that point because it was starting to get
dark and my eyes aren't the best. I couldn't tell if I could see
anything at that point. But they were going crazy, but not aggressive,
not angry. It just sounded like they were talking or something. In my
head, I was thinking, are right. I grabbed my little nine inch
blade that I was gripping tight. I was at that moment when I started
hearing that stuff, I went into total frozen mode and the only thing I
could think about was man, these there's some hill bullies. They're about to
pop out of the bushes, and I just got freaked out. But at
that moment, I was like, oh wait, let me be my car
because then the tail lights will light up and let's see what happens. And
I beat my car and as soon as I did that, the bush just
stopped moving and the sound stopped for about fifteen minutes. And then those fifteen
minutes, I was like, Okay, maybe that was just like a raccoon
or something making some crazy insane sound that I don't know. I was just
trying to make up animals who could make that sound. I was like,
maybe it was a moose or whatever. I don't know. I was just
making up animals who can make that noise. In that fifteen minutes that I
was like starting to relax, and then I looked my phone was in the
little tech sleeve that they have in tents, hanging there like a five foot
reach for me. But I was still too scared. I was still too
tense. I couldn't even reach over and grab my phone, even though I
didn't have any service, so grabbing my phone wouldn't have done anything at that
moment, especially since I was believing what was happening at that point where Hillbillies
playing a prank on me, So there would be no point in having my
phone except to call for help or to record something, and I wouldn't be
trying to record Hillbillies. So the fifteen minutes passed, I'm still staring outside
of my tent window, which is just like little mesh windowing or whatever.
I'm still staring out that look at my fire that's like just embers and just
some smokes popping up from it. And then again the noises started to the
left again in the bushes, the monkey noises started up again fifteen minutes later,
and this time I beat my car immediately once they started up again,
and then like thirty seconds after I beat my harm this time, then they
started chirping and doing making their noises again seconds after it. So they keep
getting scared of the car horn or whatever. But then I kept beeping it,
and they just kept making the monkey noises and shaking the bushes, which
only were like four five feet off the ground, but they were shaking the
bushes and making all those monkey noises and stuff, even after I was continuously
flashing the lights and beating my horn. I put that down. I just
was dripping my knife, and then I start seeing these dark shapes not they
they weren't tall, they were like five feet and it was like, now
this is straight ahead. That was happening off to the left. Straight ahead
is the river. And then just a little bit where the tree line is,
I started seeing black figures dash from the left right in the bushes,
straight ahead slightly to the left, not crossing the path to the river,
but dashing in and out from there. I kept seeing the big trees move
and the bushes shaped. My eyes aren't the best so it was dark at
this point, but the light from the stars and the moon were enough for
the average person to get a good look. But I was just seeing black
figures like five foot dashing in and out of those areas from the bush to
the trees furthest for me. And then like thirty minutes after all the sounds
going on, I keep seeing stuff move, and I knew it was moving.
I knew I wasn't imagining stuff because the bushes were going crazy and the
trees were blasting in and out. Every time I saw a black figure going
to the trees, the trees would shape like crazy, like something just ran
into there. And then across the path, So all this stuff is happening
to the left of the path, across the path, there's a little bit
of clear space in the tree line. And then thirty minutes after all that
stuff's going on, the same exact noises for monkey sounds were coming from my
right now across the path to my right that tree line, and then the
monkey noises to my left stopped. The monkey noises to my right stopped,
and they were like going back and forth like they're calling back to ease early
having a conversation so it was like the right side would say something, and
the less I would stop, and then the right side would stop, and
all of a sudden less I would say something like they're talking back and forth.
And then that was going on for like two hours, and I was
just sitting there gripping my knife, and I was like trying to get into
the courage. For two hours, I was trying to get into the courage.
I was feeling like a coward. I was like, Dom, you
can't just freeze up, like if anything comes out of there, you're just
gonna sit here and let it kill you. I was like for two hours,
I was telling myself that, and I just couldn't get myself to move.
And then after two hours, I started getting like used to the noises
or whatever. And then so I unzipped my tent as fast as I could
tripped out. And as soon as I unzipped and tripped out, because I
was trying to go fast and I was just spumbling all over the place.
As soon as I did that, all the sounds stop. I ran straight
to my car door, opened up my car door, locked out the car
doors, and then sat there and then I turned on my car, rolled
down each window a little bit to hear what was going on outside, and
I took my car key out of the car, and then as soon as
I got in the car and locked it, like two minutes later, they
started tick or chattering back and forth again. And they were doing that for
like another hour, So it was like three hours of this stuff now.
And then I when I was sitting there in my car, I looked to
my right and my car was parked right up against the tree line, just
on the trail. I looked at my right, and there's like this little
tiny opening, and I saw this gigantic black figure. Like this thing was
like super wide and super It was all dark, but it was all black.
It looked like a tree. I thought it was a giant tree,
but like a short giant tree, because it was so wide. Everything else
was way taller than it, but it was just so wide. I don't
know why I was focused on it, because it was right to my right
right when I looked outside, it was like five feet into the woods,
and I don't know why I was focusing on it for so long. I
was just looking at it. I don't know why I was, though,
But then I stopped looking at it, and then the sounds were still going
on to the left, and then the sounds to my left stopped, and
then I looked back over to my right to look at that tree again,
and then it was completely gone. It was this giant black objects standing five
foot in the tree line, and it was like, I think, if
someone had like twenty twenty vision, they might be able to see what it
was. But I just saw like a giant, dark figure standing five It
was like that thing was like ten feet. It was gigantic. That's why
I thought it was a tree. But I don't know. I was so
fixated on it. But then when I turned and looked at it again,
it was completely gone. And then I just told myself, Man, you
can't be a punk and sleep in the car. Two nights in the row.
Everything outside stopped and everything's calmed down. To just go back in your
tent and you just go to bed. So I went, I threw some
water on the fire, I went inside, laid down in my tent.
So after like four hours of this craziness, I laid down in my tent
and as soon as my head hit the pillow, after everything that just happened,
I don't know how I just passed out as soon as I laid down,
and then I slept straight through the night. I woke up at like
five in the morning and bounced immediately. I got up pour down my tent
immediately. I don't know why, because I told my dad this story on
my way. When I was driving back from Minnesota to Ohio, I called
my dad and was telling him everything that happened to be the night and he
asked me if I looked around the campsite for any tracks or anything like that,
and I just was not thinking about Bigfoot at all. I was reading
the Mysterious Monster's book. I just had that crazy thing happened to me the
night before, and the last thing that was on my mind was Bigfoot.
The whole time. I was thinking hillbillies the whole time. Even when I
saw the dark figure standing in the woods, I was still thinking hillbillies.
I don't know why. I was just like, I just have like an
irrational fear of cannibal hillbillies. But I just packed up on my stuff and
hit the road immediately five am and drove straight back to Columbus. And I
was zipping back, I got pulled over in Wisconsin, for speeding, just
because I was just trying to get home. I just it was like completely
on edge about everything and felt like everything was a sign that I was like
about to die or something. So I was like, I just got bounced
out of here quick. So I zipped out of there and luckily made it
back to Columbus Aoka. I had a flat tire though when I got back,
and I don't know how that happened. I just drove, like,
I don't know how many miles. I was like five hundred miles from Columbus
in Minneapolis and now it's probably more than that. But had a flat tire
the whole way, I guess. But those were my big foot sidings.
