Speaker 4: Number two, Turkey Sports Radio eight fun nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. UH Text Machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Got folks here from Scott f from Johnson City. These two are having their thirty first wedding anniversary today. Nice at the anniversary told me he's a u CLA fan but still likes the show so much it makes him listen to it and watch Kentucky, which is very nice.

00:01:25
Speaker 3: Well, I tell me know, we're doing our job. We get it's a fan from another school listen to our show. We're doing the right thing.

00:01:29
Speaker 4: Yes, I knew he was gonna say that, like go, that's his go to to. Why I'm gonna tell you? Uh drew getting some cryptic texts on London.

00:01:39
Speaker 5: Ooh, some spicy stuff.

00:01:41
Speaker 2: Oh.

00:01:42
Speaker 4: One person writes, Matt, I'd be very careful talking about the London thing on the radio. Next thing you know, you'll be pulled off the radio.

00:01:50
Speaker 2: That powerful.

00:01:53
Speaker 5: Just in London or everywhere, apparently all over the planets. I don't Madisonville would pull us off.

00:02:00
Speaker 4: That would be amazing. One person writes, Matt, don't start digging on London. It goes deeper than anybody can imagine.

00:02:09
Speaker 5: We gotta start digging. Wow, how deep are we talking? Let's find out.

00:02:14
Speaker 4: The thing is on on Friday, not not oh okay tomorrow, so we'll be a country boy.

00:02:20
Speaker 2: Unfortunately.

00:02:21
Speaker 4: Maybe we'll send uh, maybe we'll send Mario to report live on the scene. Correspond Our corresponded live from the London City Can no any Mario.

00:02:30
Speaker 5: To capture this big pep talk. He can't be in two places at once.

00:02:33
Speaker 2: That's exactly right.

00:02:34
Speaker 4: If not two twenty two eighty seven, I'll go to the phone here in just a second. A couple other things in college football, Arch Manning boy, yikes, why'd that happen? I thought he was good.

00:02:46
Speaker 3: You know that that game was on the same time as the Kentucky game, so I had to split screen going trying to watch it, kept waiting for him to have that moment, have that moment he did. It just didn't happen for him.

00:02:55
Speaker 2: He didn't do anything. No, he like he it was.

00:02:58
Speaker 4: I mean, if his name was Arch Jones, I would have said, hey, do you have a backup you can go to it?

00:03:02
Speaker 5: Almost got skunked. Yeah, I scored late. Yeah, I mean there was a chance that he's wildly overrated, but I didn't think he would look that bad in that game. I know it's on the road in the horseshoe. But he did not look like a guy that's leading the number one team?

00:03:16
Speaker 4: Are you saying that he's not didn't look like what Paul Feinebaum when he said he's going to be the best quarterback in the SEC since Tim Tebow.

00:03:24
Speaker 2: Are you you saying that maybe that was.

00:03:26
Speaker 5: A little moss a bit far fetch. I'll give Jordan Rodgers credit credit. He's been pulling archs down from a little bit. Anytime he gets to say something, he's like, why is everyone acting this way? There's nothing on tape that suggests he's going to be this big heisman.

00:03:37
Speaker 4: Kennt yan Orlowski said, the best quarterback prospect in twenty in a generation.

00:03:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, like Dreseay, what are they basing it on? He had a couple running plays last year. He didn't play a whole lot last year.

00:03:48
Speaker 4: I don't know, Well it was it was not. It was not the debut you would have hoped for.

00:03:53
Speaker 3: What wasn't?

00:03:54
Speaker 5: Grandpa said a few weeks ago they were talking about him being the number one pick, and he's like, oh, Arch will be at Texas next year.

00:04:00
Speaker 2: It's because he knew what you could.

00:04:01
Speaker 5: People thought it meant, you know, he's just gonna ride. I'll make a little more money. He doesn't want to go to a certain team. No, I think Grandpa just doesn't see the potential. Grandpa's like, look, I've seen good players. My grandson is not one of them.

00:04:12
Speaker 2: Leave him alone.

00:04:13
Speaker 5: Was honest.

00:04:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, Lee Corso said goodbye.

00:04:16
Speaker 4: Most watched college game Day in history, the segment with him on at five point one million people, largest segment in the history of college game Day.

00:04:26
Speaker 2: It was a very nice, uh, farewell to Leak Corso. I thought it was awesome.

00:04:30
Speaker 3: And the dude went out shooting his gun. He picked Florida State or Alabama, picked Ohio State.

00:04:35
Speaker 4: This is how good he was. They made six picks while he was on the air. He got all six. Right, If you parlayed his six picks, it was one hundred and eighty seven to one.

00:04:45
Speaker 3: My goodness, he picked them all.

00:04:47
Speaker 2: He picked Florida State.

00:04:48
Speaker 3: Oh, he's only won to pick them all.

00:04:51
Speaker 4: And every team he was associated with, either as a coach, a player, or an assistant coach, every one of them they all won.

00:04:59
Speaker 2: Yes, they all won Saturday.

00:05:01
Speaker 3: It did a little bit cool.

00:05:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, that is kind of cool, especially you know, beat Alabama.

00:05:07
Speaker 5: I saw some people tweet after he made his Florida State pick, said fitting that Corso's going out with his worst pick of all time because the game hadn't played yet, they got to win for him.

00:05:17
Speaker 2: One hundred and eighty seven to one.

00:05:19
Speaker 5: Very fitting. And did I didn't see this, but did Fox cut to it. I saw people talk that was very cool.

00:05:24
Speaker 4: Fox decided ask permission and ESPN gave him permission, and that was very cool. Fox showed the last pick. I think that's awesome, Like like, that's a very cool. They played it on the stadium at Ohio State, like on the big screen.

00:05:38
Speaker 2: The band spelled out his name like that.

00:05:40
Speaker 4: That's you know, it's good to put things behind sometimes and and and just say, hey, let's.

00:05:46
Speaker 2: Let's celebrate this moment. I thought that was cool.

00:05:48
Speaker 5: Could have scripted a better ending.

00:05:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, he's such a great ambassador for college football. They should celebrate a situation like that. When he get steps away, the heart street got a little misty. Idy looked like too right there?

00:05:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, wait, man, sure you're already leaving a couple's massage massage.

00:06:06
Speaker 3: I'm going with them? Wait a man, hey, I can go.

00:06:08
Speaker 2: I don't think they want you a couple's massage.

00:06:12
Speaker 4: Joy, who knew that? I didn't see that coming. I just like they're gonna get a sandwich. I didn't think they were gonna get a couple's massage. You ever had a couple's massage?

00:06:24
Speaker 2: Never had a couple of massage? Okay, well you need to probably need to get on there. All right, I'll go one with.

00:06:29
Speaker 3: You, Rick.

00:06:34
Speaker 4: Alabama doesn't just lose gets destroyed.

00:06:39
Speaker 2: I mean like dominated throughout the game.

00:06:42
Speaker 4: Did not look like an Alabama I've seen in twenty years. I mean one of the more I mean, Florida State was two and ten last year, one.

00:06:50
Speaker 2: Of the more surprising results that you could possibly have.

00:06:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, fourth, they had that awful year last year, and their new quarterback called he called the shot, he quit, transferred from Boston College, called out Alabama said you know we're gonna do it, and they went out and got it done and not just beat him, beat him bad.

00:07:05
Speaker 5: A lot of people figured he wouldn't be able to fill those big shoes. But I mean it's been a year and a week and Bama fans are already talking by out and who's next, and we'll saban come back. He has not lasted very well there at all.

00:07:19
Speaker 4: I don't listen to Paul Fine Boy, but I did turn on the first forty five minutes yesterday and there was a lot of ah like just people just like.

00:07:27
Speaker 3: Being losing their mind, being furious, and.

00:07:31
Speaker 2: I really enjoyed it.

00:07:32
Speaker 4: I'm not I sat there and they were just screaming, right, we gotta fine seventy like just yelling and it was.

00:07:40
Speaker 2: It was kind of.

00:07:41
Speaker 5: Brilliant the Music City Bowl, and there was a lot of football left, but that's the new projection. Could you imagine Alabama fans at.

00:07:47
Speaker 2: The National play?

00:07:48
Speaker 4: They still have to play Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, Oklahoma, LSU like, they still have a lot of tough games, and Vandy, who beat him last year something.

00:08:01
Speaker 2: I mean, it's kind of amazing. I was shocked.

00:08:05
Speaker 3: I mean, I didn't think anybody Alabama would even lose that game, but to get beat them as badly as they did, They've got some issues obviously going on, especially on defense.

00:08:11
Speaker 4: I was more excited than I want to admit to watch Bill Belichick last night. I think it was just because I was hoping to see the whole I wanted to see was Jordan on the sideline. Was she gonna be have a headset on? I wanted to see was he gonna be as grumpy? The game was everything I.

00:08:28
Speaker 2: Could have hoped for.

00:08:30
Speaker 4: Through the first drive, they come out, score seven points, just run like fly down the field and you're like, oh, this is on. Michael Jordan's in the crowd, Lawrence Taylor, right, Roy Williams, Mia Ham. I mean, North Carona has a lot of pretty amazing athletes, and then from then on there just atrocious. Kirk k Herbstreet gets caught in the in the break on a hot mic saying they stink.

00:08:57
Speaker 2: Not the best for for for Bill the Hoodie.

00:09:01
Speaker 5: It's great entertainment, though, if you don't care what happens. I mean, the internet was on fire. I saw tweet said forty one to seven. That was Bill in Jordan's age a couple decades ago.

00:09:12
Speaker 6: Uh.

00:09:13
Speaker 5: I mean at one point, they're down so bad Kirk literally left the broadcast and put the headset on his dog. We had a Golden retriever calling a nationally televised game. The football was so bad.

00:09:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, I was, I kind of want him to succeed, even though I hated him with the Patriots, just because I think this whole thing has been so entertaining.

00:09:32
Speaker 2: You know, are they gonna win any games this year?

00:09:34
Speaker 3: I was guilty of being excited at that first drive. They made it look so easy that Bill Deck's gonna be a genius, He's gonna this is gonna work at North Carolina, and then it just completely fell apart.

00:09:42
Speaker 2: Does make you wonder if we had hired Bill Parcells. Is that what happens?

00:09:46
Speaker 3: That could have been very, very easily been us.

00:09:49
Speaker 5: What did you think about? Jordan had his big uh Bill's ring on, so.

00:09:54
Speaker 4: It wasn't The thing was she was a cheerleader on a national championship cheerleading team.

00:09:59
Speaker 2: It was hurt.

00:10:00
Speaker 4: That was a cheerleading That was a D three cheerleading national.

00:10:04
Speaker 5: Times the size of a D three softball. That thing was huge. I thought she had on the Super Bowl ring.

00:10:09
Speaker 2: I did not realize D three rings for cheerleading gate we're that big. I agree with you. I was like, that has to be her Super Bowl ring.

00:10:15
Speaker 4: Turns out it was her D three cheerleading ring.

00:10:20
Speaker 5: I think it might be a long year.

00:10:21
Speaker 3: Uh.

00:10:22
Speaker 5: You know, nothing against his son, but did you see just his look? He has like this weird like shaved head ponytail situation going on and sticking his tongue out.

00:10:30
Speaker 4: That's why I tell you the sons of successful people don't ever let him run anything.

00:10:34
Speaker 2: They always screw it up.

00:10:36
Speaker 5: Well, I was already on the under I've never been more confident than that team imploding as this year goes on.

00:10:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, who's up next? Rick? Got Dennis? Up next? Dennis? Go ahead, Dennis.

00:10:48
Speaker 5: Hey.

00:10:49
Speaker 6: I know I'm going to ruffle some feathers with this comment, but actually I got but one comment.

00:10:57
Speaker 3: Go a fan.

00:11:01
Speaker 6: Upset about the atmosphere that wants to play My Old Kentucky Home ten minutes before the game starts. That's kind of you know, I love my Old Kentucky Home, but that I've always said that song belongs at the end of the football game, at the beginning of it.

00:11:18
Speaker 4: I gotta tell you I kind of agree with you on that. I kind of I love my Old Kentucky Home, but the my Old Kentucky Home right before the game starts is a buzzkill. It just is play it after the game. It is like, I mean, you know, I love the song, go rest high on that mountain. I don't want them to play it at halftime of the game, Like there are beautiful songs that maybe shouldn't be in a certain form of the game. You'll never leave Harlan alive. I kind of like in the right circumstance with the lights down part of it, but like when we're playing it as our pump up song in the third quarter instead of gross, I just I'm with you, sir, It just I don't know if that's what.

00:11:56
Speaker 2: We want right.

00:11:59
Speaker 6: My only problem with Grow Street is like last year, for example, we'd be going into the fourth quarter and they'd be playing that song and we'd be down, we'd be losing. I'm like, how is it a party if we're losing.

00:12:10
Speaker 2: That well, but you it's fair enough. I appreciate the call.

00:12:13
Speaker 4: But if you're gonna have a this is when we play the song, then we have to play it even.

00:12:17
Speaker 2: If we're down thirty, Like, you still have to you know, this is when this is when we do it. We still have to do it.

00:12:24
Speaker 5: It does feel like sometimes there's a script and whoever's in charge of it, there HiT's play and there's no fluid, like maybe in this moment we should do something different because we're down or we're up, or we need to stop. It's just kind of like they have the playlist and to hit play.

00:12:36
Speaker 2: I've said this for a decade. It remains true.

00:12:38
Speaker 4: It'll always be true. They should let Shannon the Dude do it. If Shannon the Dude did it, he would be awesome. He is the best I've ever seen it picking the song based on what we've said. Can you imagine if Shannon was picking the song based in the emotion, he'd be the best. And I mean, like it's right there for him. He'd be good at it.

00:13:00
Speaker 2: I don't know. But even if it's not him, they gotta do something.

00:13:03
Speaker 4: This is terrible, and I actually whoever it is that plays the music actually don't blame them. I am sure they're getting direction for people upstairs about what they can do.

00:13:11
Speaker 2: I'm sure they are.

00:13:12
Speaker 3: I guarantee it's scripted. Like Drew said, they have exactly, they know exactly. They'll play the first quarterbreak, aftime, third quarter break. It is definitely scripted.

00:13:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, who's next? Bill is up? Next Bill? Go ahead, Bill?

00:13:24
Speaker 6: Yeah, Shannon can't do the music at Kroger Field. He takes to me vacations.

00:13:30
Speaker 2: He would skip the Alabama game. Yeah, that's it.

00:13:34
Speaker 6: I wanna I kind of wanna be I want to be more positive and a couple of things. One, I think the offensive stuff is correctable. I hope it is anyway. And if you remember our back to back to back turnovers, our defense was on the field, but those were within the first series, so that means our defense was on the field forever everywhere.

00:13:54
Speaker 2: But then the end of that last.

00:13:55
Speaker 6: Series they held a fourth down stop. So I think we're gonna be all right. And last thing I'm gonna say is Lane Kiffin will eventually be a Hall of famer, a hall of famer at punching down. He might be motivated to hang sixty on us, but my coach is motivated her. All right, So let's go out there and let's woolf ole missus ass because.

00:14:13
Speaker 2: I'm tired of this A five nine, two eighth twenty two eighty seven. I'd love to beat them.

00:14:19
Speaker 4: What percentage chance do you give of us beating old miss Saturday.

00:14:24
Speaker 5: Well, I'll note that the last four meetings were all decided by a field goal or less, including one overtime. The last four meetings combined, I think it's like a ten point differential, so it won't shock me if it comes down to the very end, like four players have decided this rivalry. So I'll say I'll give Kentucky a decent chance. I'll say thirty seven.

00:14:44
Speaker 2: Point five seven five. Okay, what about.

00:14:46
Speaker 3: You, trus right? I mean whatever reason, Mark Stoops seems to do very well against Lane Kiffin coach teams on an old miss. So I'm gonna say I'll even go forty percent chance to win the game.

00:14:56
Speaker 2: Guys, a little high twenty three point six.

00:14:58
Speaker 4: Then if you're definitive of chance we have, we'll pay if we're late. You've heard me talk about the state renovations in Kentucky go to high end Homer Modeling. If they don't finish, they'll pay you one hundred dollars a day after the promised date. That's a pretty amazing thing. Whole home makeovers, bathrooms, kitchen A state renovations go to a state renos dot com slash KSR a state renos dot com slash KSR mention one hundred dollars guarantee, and if they don't get it done, you'll be the one getting paid. We'll take a break. We are here at the ks Bar and Grill, Lunch is open. Has your burger it good? Your burger good good. That's what I like to You're right back to Kentucky Sports Radio. You had to say, yes, right.

00:15:44
Speaker 2: Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio.

00:15:45
Speaker 4: If I'm nine two, eight oh, twenty two eighty seven here at the KS Bar and Grill. Remember we've got everything ready to rock here for lunch but also for life.

00:15:57
Speaker 2: Well that's great, that's good. By what person rights, Matt, I have to tell you.

00:16:03
Speaker 4: I think it's ridiculous you all think that the kind of music played in a football game matters. It does matter. It matters for atmosphere, it matters just for entertainment. It matters for making people want to go to the game, and if they want to go to the game, they're more likely to get a C like all that stuff matters. This is we can't act like this is nineteen seventy three anymore. People have a lot of options, they have a lot of stuff they can do. You've got to make it to where they want to be here. It's not just a given that they're gonna come. And I think that's kind of what I'm getting at.

00:16:36
Speaker 5: The music is important, but not just the music, Like there's downtime where people are just looking at each other. Fans need a little bit of instruction and direction, whether you're starting to chant or giving them something to do. You have to keep that energy moving. And on Saturday it would be a moment you could look around it's like, Okay, we just met the science team or whoever it was, and it's like people are just looking at each other. Because maybe it's a review or a commercial. Regardless, you got to be doing something to keep it acting.

00:17:01
Speaker 3: I would assume that dude has never been to a game at Georgia, Tennessee, at South Carolina, at Florida. Go to one of those games and see what the stadium's like and the atmosphere is like. Then you realize how far behind Kentucky really is. We just are and like acting like we're not. It affects, I mean, it affects everything.

00:17:19
Speaker 4: It affects recruiting, It just affects everything, Like it affects the vibe. Vibe matters, It really does. Like part of the reason we renovated this place is vibe matters. It was kind of feeling dreary. We're like, let's renovate it. You can't take stuff for granted anymore. You can't just say, well, you know we're UK, people will do it. You've got to say I gotta make them want to do it, and you know. And then the other thing is I believe that about rupp Ana, But at least at UK basketball we have a history of winning. All these things are fifty times more important when you don't have a history of winning.

00:17:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean we can't. We can't rely on the mascots one armed push ups and the things we've been doing for thirty I mean, that's nice, that's cool. I can't do one arm push ups. Good for him, but that's not you can't do that for one hundred years. Like this last game, I feel like their moments that felt like we went back in time, like there was nothing for the fan experience that was any different than it had been.

00:18:15
Speaker 3: But it kind of goes along with that. We've seen this whole spring. The football team's kind of been quiet, you know, no noise coming from the football office all spring, all summer, going into the football game, like they're not even ready for the first home game. It seems like I don't know what's going on.

00:18:28
Speaker 4: Some good news KSR parlay one in Oh yeah, eat it.

00:18:33
Speaker 2: So now.

00:18:36
Speaker 4: You know, now we can lose seven straight weeks and still be ahead because it paid off eight to one.

00:18:41
Speaker 2: Ohio State one.

00:18:43
Speaker 4: Tulane beat Northwestern Tulsa beat Abilene Christian which was the one I had, and then LSU won.

00:18:50
Speaker 2: Which Shannon had. So what a victory?

00:18:52
Speaker 3: Were one?

00:18:53
Speaker 2: And oh getting started?

00:18:54
Speaker 4: A lot of people, a lot of people probably didn't want to play it because they're like, oh, they lose, Well, we didn't lose this time.

00:18:58
Speaker 5: I think they lost if they didn't bet it. Like you said, big bank roll, not that we want to lose more, not that we will more, but if we did, we already have enough in the bank. Wouldn't even affect us.

00:19:07
Speaker 2: That's right.

00:19:08
Speaker 3: I got excited too, and they kept going to Josh Kattis. I said he may get this. He hit it to the two touchdown bet we talked about on the pregame show. They kept going to him, kept going to him even close to the goal line, and went to him a couple times.

00:19:19
Speaker 5: He did have the most targets, but it was exciting and hit the parlay. The catus bet was an extra long shot.

00:19:24
Speaker 2: UK volleyball almost beating Nebraska.

00:19:27
Speaker 4: Now almost doesn't do anything, but they did almost beating Nebraska. I mean they were up two sets to nothing. I even got a lead in the third set. We're not able to take it. Let me just say I was in Nashville on Sunday and I forgot that game was there, and all of a sudden, I look up. Let me tell you some Tucky basketball our fan base maybe travels better than everybody, but the Nebraska volleyball fan base might have something to say about it. I could not believe how many Nebraska volleyball fans were everywhere. It wasn't like Kentucky basketball SEC Tournament, but it was better than every other team that goes to the SEC Tournament in basketball. I'm not kidding you. There had to be ten thousand Nebraska fans walking around. I could not believe. For volleyball, I could not believe it drew. They were everywhere.

00:20:22
Speaker 5: I watched it on TV from the beginning and seconds into the match it was like, oh no, we are very out of numbered. I mean, there was a little bit of blue sprinkled in there, but that Bridge Stone Arena was full of Nebraska fans.

00:20:33
Speaker 4: I saw a few Kentucky fans, but it was nothing compared to the corn everywhere. But with that said, Kentucky women played them, you know down the street Bresso, number one team in the country. Tucky probably should have won. They played the number two team in the country this weekend, so they're definitely getting a test. And I think they actually came in number eight and got moved up to number five even though they lost.

00:21:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, if Nebraska is the elite of the league, Kentucky took them toe to toe. I thought it looked like they were gonna sweep them there ended up getting the reverse sweet, but I thought for a second there Kentucky's gonna swep the number one team in the country.

00:21:09
Speaker 5: It's stunk losing, but that was just an exciting match overall. I mean, even on the two sets Kentucky won, they went down early and came back to win them. Stinks lose them three in a row to lose it, But that was just a thrilling Sunday afternoon watching volleyball. As four NFL starts in that spot next week, well, I.

00:21:25
Speaker 4: Still don't have respect for Nebraska as a state and as a place I would ever want to go.

00:21:31
Speaker 2: But in terms of as a fan base.

00:21:33
Speaker 4: Their volleyball fan base has gained respect for me as an entity that actually can do stuff well.

00:21:40
Speaker 5: I thought they might have a slight edge on the crowd though. They had a football game on Thursday and our fans were still hung over from Saturday, so they had they were able to make a long weekend out of it.

00:21:48
Speaker 4: That's a very short trip for us. That's a long trip for them. I mean, that's not close, and they were there.

00:21:54
Speaker 2: Who's next?

00:21:55
Speaker 3: Dustin is next?

00:21:57
Speaker 2: Dustin? Go ahead, Dustin?

00:22:00
Speaker 7: Thanks for having me on. Unfortunately we can't do it because of his contract. But it's just time to shape, shake Mark Stoop's hand and just say hey, thanks for all you've done as a fan. I can no longer put up with this NFT offense. I turned it off after we get up to safety on Saturday. I will no longer schedule my weekends around watching Kentucky football play. I could care less. I understand that's not the same, but I'm giving the right amount of not caring of watching his football team's play.

00:22:28
Speaker 4: I think that's not I mean, why would it be the safety that may I mean, the safety was terrible, but you really like have watched Kentucky football your whole life, and you're gonna stop because of a safety in the game.

00:22:41
Speaker 2: We went ahead and won.

00:22:43
Speaker 7: It's just the same old thing, Matt. It's rins and repeat. It's offense. This offense that we're gonna slow the ball down. We've got a quarterback that can't hit the bright side of the barn. We've had two years in his tenure where we've had a decent offense, will Levis, Windell Robinson and magic with wyn Bowden.

00:23:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not fair though, you know, you know, you know something that you know we had. Do you know how many yards Terry Wilson through for?

00:23:10
Speaker 7: It wasn't many, but it was alone.

00:23:12
Speaker 2: There was more than you think.

00:23:13
Speaker 4: It was over three thousand yards. I'm just saying, like, it's easy. It's easy to sit there and act like we've always been terrible in the Stoops era.

00:23:22
Speaker 2: It's just not true.

00:23:23
Speaker 4: We won ten games like that's we had won ten games. We won ten games like twice in history. Besides that, but this year there's something to be left, you know, to say it. We'll take a break. Bear it back to Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. Rick, I love you man. How you doing. I'm hanging in there, the gray hairs getting gray hair. That's okay, it's all right. We're back here. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:23:55
Speaker 3: A lot happened during that commercial break.

00:23:57
Speaker 8: Maybe so if I'm not too a No. Twenty eighty seven radio, you do. If it goes off again, you just call my phone. Okay, we'll take calls. You got it, all right.

00:24:08
Speaker 4: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, the text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. I do want to note for those of you that are kind of football junkies, he's been doing this for a long time, but now he's on the Football podcast and I ended up watching a lot of them Sunday and Monday. Van Styles, former player does on Twitter these little videos where he breaks down what's happening on plays. I find him very informative. He basically shows you a play and you might think this person screwed up, and he actually showed you why it was.

00:24:44
Speaker 2: This person over here.

00:24:45
Speaker 4: He kind of is able to say, like, for instance, he showed one play that I where it looked like kaw Zada made a bad throw and he showed it and he said, no, the reason this didn't work is the receiver is supposed to protect cow's out by sealing him off, and he doesn't, and that makes it to wear so things that maybe I wouldn't be able to see. I'm sure guys who know football better than me would, But Drew I found it very helpful and he put out a ton of videos from the Toledo game.

00:25:16
Speaker 2: If you search Van Styles st.

00:25:18
Speaker 5: Y l e Isles Files, but it's Styles on Twitter, it's v Styles seventeen.

00:25:23
Speaker 3: I think there you go. Yeah, his name is Van Files.

00:25:27
Speaker 5: Though V Styles seventeen. I'm pretty sure knew it said Van Styles.

00:25:31
Speaker 2: V Styles seventeen.

00:25:32
Speaker 5: You'll be able to say that is it. He's been putting those out for a while. He's a great follow and then when Max went back to Australia, we just kind of stole Van for the KSR Football podcast. We've been enjoying him on there too. But you know, he's a draft pick, went to your Bears, played for UK on some good teams in the nineties and knows about it as well as anyone and his where he cuts it and calls him cut ups. He does a great job explaining individual plays.

00:25:55
Speaker 4: And if you watch it, you'll my initial inclination, which was Phiel really good about our defensive line, be very worried about our receivers. Uh, that's kind of his it seems as well. After he watched it he was very down on some of the stuff with the receivers yesterday.

00:26:11
Speaker 5: I like him because he's honest. Some guys that play, though, you know, won't get too critical. Yeah, they're gonna want their tickets when they come in for a game every once in a while. Now, if he sees something he doesn't like, he'll be brutally honest with you. Now, he's not over the top with it. He's being honest, but he shares exactly what he thinks, good and bad.

00:26:27
Speaker 3: He's gotten a really good following. He's been doing this for years, like these cut ups and breaking down after every game, and people kind of finally found him and get to enjoy what he does because he knows a lot more football than we all do. So it's kind of interesting to see his perspective of things.

00:26:38
Speaker 2: Totally is who's up next?

00:26:40
Speaker 7: Ed?

00:26:41
Speaker 2: Ed? Go ahead? Ed?

00:26:44
Speaker 9: Hey, guys, I was reading the other day that Kentucky defense great at higher than any team in the nation for that day. And I think that's pretty good.

00:26:55
Speaker 4: Well, it was on the he's talking about pressure on the quarterback. That's what that That was the I think the stat where it was where it was true.

00:27:04
Speaker 9: Ninety one point something.

00:27:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, ninety one point something.

00:27:08
Speaker 9: There you go, Yeah, were good?

00:27:12
Speaker 2: All right, I appreciate, appreciate the call. Fur.

00:27:16
Speaker 4: We're telling me Rick, people are telling me we're still not on the air in Lexington.

00:27:19
Speaker 2: Do you know that? I don't know that.

00:27:22
Speaker 4: Okay, if we are on the air in Lexington, someone text me and say yes, I don't know. Or maybe they're still just hearing the Blink one eighty two songs?

00:27:30
Speaker 2: What was it? What was your thought process for Rick? Between you? But but going to the Blink one eighty two song right there? Well, let's save my hide. But I like that you use it. I like that you use the word hide. Hide is a good word. Who's next?

00:27:45
Speaker 1: Okay, I got free bird up there?

00:27:47
Speaker 2: Free bird go ahead.

00:27:50
Speaker 10: Hey guys. That one guy must have wanted air supply to play the football games. My gosh, But I have two questions. First of all, I hit a guess on how much Lee Corso's Parlay would have won on.

00:28:04
Speaker 4: It was one hundred and eighty seven, it would been one hundred and eighty seven to one. Of course, if you beat Corso's picks that he hit, it would have been I think it was one hundred and eighty seven to one.

00:28:17
Speaker 10: Oh my gosh. And has there ever been a more entertaining TASSR show after the first full weekend of college football, Because dude, this show is ranked ten out of ten guys, it's fantastic.

00:28:29
Speaker 4: Well, thank you very much. I appreciate that I've tried to make it. You know, we had a whole day off to get ready. Speaking of whole days off, I'm just gonna go ahead and tell you I'm today's my neighborhood meeting about the park. They're bringing in a city council member. Okay, they're appreciate the call. They're bringing a city council member. They're bringing in the head of parking for Lexington, and they created an email group of all the people on the street. The email group has been very fiery. Okay, people have been writing there's a woman. Her name is Wanda. Don't mess with Wanda. That's all i'most say to you. She gets worked up and there, and they've been saying, we have some things to say to get off our chest. So normally I'm anti all community meetings. I don't want to be involved. But my name's Bennett. I'm not in it. But when it comes to today, I am gonna be in it. I'm going to the meeting nice and uh, I'm very much looking forward to it. We get to we get to express our thoughts because this weekend was awsome. Yesterday I I nearly called in the National Guard. Okay, I'm pretty anti Trump, but if you brought in the National Guard to my street yesterday I might have actually cheered it on.

00:29:48
Speaker 3: What did they do for the holiday?

00:29:49
Speaker 4: If that park is way too crowded, I don't know where all these kids are coming from. I don't know where they're finding all these children, but they're everywhere and they're loud.

00:30:02
Speaker 2: It actually doesn't The park doesn't even bother me. But the park people.

00:30:08
Speaker 4: People people are stupid d I'm just gonna tell you when they get in the car like they don't understand.

00:30:15
Speaker 2: First of all, no one in this town can parallel park.

00:30:17
Speaker 4: I get a lot of joy just sitting on my park porch and try watching people try to parallel park. I mean, I don't know how these people pass the driver's test, first of all. Secondly, so a guy came. An officer was there ticketing people yesterday. There's a yellow curb. You cannot park on the old curb. They teach you that, I believe, and people do it and then they get mad at the office and they're like, well, I didn't know, and he go it's yellow, and they go, well but there's no signs, and the officer's like, it's yellow.

00:30:56
Speaker 2: Ye the sun yellow is the sign.

00:31:00
Speaker 3: So they have a guy who's writing tickets all day yesterday. He was there a lot and I went and thanked him. I brought him a cookie. Oh you did, I did, and he accepted it. I don't know if that's illegal, but he took my cookie. I was like, sir, thank you.

00:31:13
Speaker 2: Here's a cookie. But I you know, so the city's gonna hear from me today.

00:31:20
Speaker 4: I'm not trying to be I'm not trying, but you know, I can't get in and out. I mean it's a one lane street and people just hong, you know, trying to back up. And I've got neighbors and they've closed their driveways off, which I you know, that's their right, but now like my driveway is like the only driveway, so it's just people turn around all day, and I don't like.

00:31:45
Speaker 5: I'm glad you're going to the meeting.

00:31:46
Speaker 2: I have too.

00:31:47
Speaker 5: You really need to go to this meeting.

00:31:48
Speaker 2: YEP.

00:31:48
Speaker 5: One of my best things of the year is I went to one of these meetings in my neighborhood a few months ago, and I still think about it. I didn't want to go, but the bickering and the people complaining, it's great people watching and it might even me you doing. Maybe I should go to your meeting and watch.

00:32:03
Speaker 2: You acted like I'm not gonna be the one bickering and complain.

00:32:06
Speaker 5: Are you gonna lead the meeting? You feel like you're the voice of the community.

00:32:10
Speaker 4: I will bring cookies to anyone who will enforce the yellow line UH parking issue.

00:32:16
Speaker 3: Matt will have to participate. He can't sit there without I think, participating in the meeting.

00:32:21
Speaker 5: So oh, you're shouting somebody, No, I'm not gonna shoot you.

00:32:25
Speaker 2: I think we're all on the same side.

00:32:27
Speaker 4: I think, you know, for the first time ever, I have spoken to my neighbors.

00:32:32
Speaker 3: Which is good. Strengthen numbers. You guys want to be said.

00:32:34
Speaker 4: I found out I didn't know one of my neighbors down the street has a horse.

00:32:39
Speaker 2: In their backyard.

00:32:41
Speaker 3: What a horse?

00:32:43
Speaker 2: I'm serious, you're a kid where you would put the gun to think.

00:32:47
Speaker 4: There is a person that lives a block and a half from Aperna that has a horse in their backyard.

00:32:56
Speaker 2: Actually, I think it's two horses.

00:32:59
Speaker 5: I'm I'm trying to even picture how this is possible.

00:33:03
Speaker 4: I'm not gonna tell you which house it is, but there is a because I heard a sound one day.

00:33:09
Speaker 5: Do they know that they're there?

00:33:11
Speaker 2: And I was like, that can't be a horse, is it? And then all of a sudden, I was that's a horse.

00:33:18
Speaker 4: And I have to add I mean, I don't know what the rules of the city are, but I don't think you could have a horse.

00:33:23
Speaker 3: Inside New Circle Road.

00:33:26
Speaker 4: Inside we mean inside New Circle Road, like a few blocks from from Triangle Park.

00:33:33
Speaker 2: You can't have a horse there?

00:33:35
Speaker 5: Can you maybe have them?

00:33:37
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:33:37
Speaker 3: Some lulls written in the eighteen hundreds when you could everybody had horses. Maybe they've never changed.

00:33:41
Speaker 2: I might bring up the horse. Can I have a horse?

00:33:45
Speaker 3: Unless that person may be on your side.

00:33:46
Speaker 5: I mean, if there's ever an opportunity to bring it up.

00:33:48
Speaker 2: This meeting, did you, I mean, do you know people who have horses?

00:33:53
Speaker 5: Just I know of one that's a little closer to town than I realized. You could have one. It's this way, but not where you are. You are in downtown.

00:34:02
Speaker 4: It is there is a horse, and it nays, and it nays loudly.

00:34:09
Speaker 2: Things you learn on the show No hey bb in fans.

00:34:13
Speaker 4: When it comes to your physical health, you want a physical therapist who could trust Court Physical Therapy over thirty five years providing care to athletes and weekend warriors a lot. Speaker 4: See why Court is the best in rehab for yourself at Court dot com. We'll take a break. We're here at Ksbargrills, Kentucky Sports Radio workome back Tucky Sports Radio. So listen. This is why this shows good. You learn things. Horses are allowed in the Lexington city limits. Apparently one of the mothers of a backstreet boy got the city to change their code.

00:34:53
Speaker 2: Horses are allowed. Goats and sheep are not there. You go, I bet you didn't know.

00:35:00
Speaker 4: Apparently you can have a horse in the city limits of Lexington. I learned that a couple of weeks ago when I saw one. But apparently that is the case, so I can't even complain because it's legal.

00:35:09
Speaker 3: Odd would have one that close to downtown, Like you said, just a couple of blocks from Ropperina and there's a horse.

00:35:13
Speaker 4: We were just talking about that neighborhood back there, like not mine, but like a couple of streets over there's some mansions. I don't know if people realize how nice some of those houses next close to rupper like next to the Upperina parking lot over there there there's some mansion back there that has gates that one night I climbed to the top of the of the wall.

00:35:35
Speaker 2: I just wanted to look them over here.

00:35:37
Speaker 4: Well I was, I guess peepy, but it looks like something from like a Civil War area mansion and it's a block and a half from Repperina.

00:35:46
Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't know if people realize that's over there.

00:35:49
Speaker 5: You drive right by with I even noticing it. They're hidden so well.

00:35:51
Speaker 2: Hidden it's got all this foliage, Isn't that what you would call it?

00:35:55
Speaker 5: Climb up on the on the fence to.

00:35:56
Speaker 3: There's some big, beautiful houses on those little side streets right there. Close up.

00:36:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a there's a famous musician, very famous musician, buying one of those houses.

00:36:06
Speaker 3: Wow.

00:36:07
Speaker 4: I'm not reporting on the air who it is, but a very very famous musician is about to buy one of those.

00:36:13
Speaker 3: Your neighbor, Yeah, go hang out.

00:36:15
Speaker 2: Maybe we'll become Maybe we'll become friends.

00:36:18
Speaker 4: DraftKings, Uh, you got well the Rads the Reds are done, but I'm still but they won yesterday and a comeback, which is you went with your dad say on Sunday.

00:36:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, they had lost five straight, but of course the one game I go to they beat my Cardinals.

00:36:32
Speaker 2: Watch them win, have a good time.

00:36:34
Speaker 3: Loved it. Thank you so much for letting us sit in your tickets. He loved it good. I'm glad you ain't not happy with the result of the game, though, but we were a lot of Cardinal fans were there tonight.

00:36:43
Speaker 2: You got Blue Jays and Reds.

00:36:44
Speaker 4: Nick the blister Lodolo is back from his uh six month blister injury to be be a against Jose hunting out Barrios pitching.

00:36:55
Speaker 2: It is a even pick them game. Who you got?

00:36:58
Speaker 5: I'm gonna go with the Blister like you took a long time offers blister, he's rested.

00:37:02
Speaker 2: I think it's fully finger ready to go. Yeah, what about you?

00:37:05
Speaker 3: Reds of one two in a row, So I'll take it.

00:37:06
Speaker 2: The Blue Jays. Blue Jays, they're.

00:37:09
Speaker 3: The best team in the American League East, right.

00:37:11
Speaker 4: Well, I think they've got second best record in the American League.

00:37:14
Speaker 5: And really, yeah, I'm Bean from the Blue Jays, so I'm not allowed to keep up with them.

00:37:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, thank you. I'll take the Reds. Why not if I'm nine twenty two eighty seven. Who's next? Luke is next? Luke? Go ahead?

00:37:26
Speaker 11: Matt I called him to the post game show Saturday, and I want to talk about what the guy after me called it and said. He said, Bush Hampton runs a fifty to fifty offense, run fifty percent pass. Well, one that's actually pretty accurated into his philosophy, and number two, that's one hundred percent stupid. And the reason for that. If you want to run a balanced offense, you run an air raid system where everybody has the opportunity to touch the ball in equal amount. That's balanced. I digress, though. You also said Terry Wilson threw for three thousand yards. Yeah, in twenty seven career starts. That's less than one hundred and fifty yards a game we had.

00:37:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, that was just for the record, just for the record. You're right about that. I looked, I saw the numbers. I thought it was per season, and it was not. With that said, I would take Terry Wilson's ten and three record anytime.

00:38:08
Speaker 11: I'm not arguing about that. I'm just saying we have not had a three thousand yard passer in Stoop's entire tenure, a single season three thousand yard passer. Yeah, and none of them have hit thirty touchdowns either in a single season.

00:38:21
Speaker 10: That's awful.

00:38:22
Speaker 6: I mean, that's awful. The fact that we've won as much as we have with subpar.

00:38:26
Speaker 11: Quarterback play, truthfully, is actually pretty impressive. But that's all I got.

00:38:30
Speaker 2: Think, guys, No, I think that's right.

00:38:31
Speaker 4: I mean, you could say that, with the exception of Will Levis's first year when he wasn't hurt, you could say that we've never really had a great quarterback, and it's kind of amazing that we've won as much as we have during that period of time. I mean, you go back, you know Steven Johnson and Terry Wilson. I mean, go back and look those guys records. It's kind of amazing. I was just saying, you know, Devin Leary through for more yards than you think he did. It's it is kind of amazing we've had this success because I think there's only one year. I think there's only one year of the Stoops era where you could say the quarterback was a significant plus. You maybe had some years where you say the quarterback was good or pretty good, but insane like a quarterback is a strength of the team. Probably Levis's first year is the only year that's true. Wouldn't you agree?

00:39:25
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean Steven Johnson had a great year, but I don't consider he wouldn't like just stellar playing quarterback. I mean he has a great.

00:39:31
Speaker 2: Offensive line, he made good decisions.

00:39:33
Speaker 5: Really, all the success you can kind of just say Benny Snell, Chris Rodriguez, Lyn Bowden. You know, with Benny and Chris you have two records.

00:39:41
Speaker 2: Setting the wall in the offensive law.

00:39:42
Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess I should include them in that, but I mean you had two record setting running backs go back to back and then a one off year where your receiver ran the ball from the courting quarterback spot over and over. So absolutely been a running team under Stoops.

00:39:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, Levis's first year when he was healthy, great season, but the the second he was hurt. Eh, then Devon Leary, Yeah, didn't brock Vandi Griff. Yeah, we really are still kind of waiting for him.

00:40:07
Speaker 2: But yeah, he's gone down.

00:40:08
Speaker 4: I mean, if you're if you're Will Levis is in, then you're Devin Leary's like, and then you're Broc Lanning's like.

00:40:18
Speaker 2: And now we'll have to see what happens with this one.

00:40:20
Speaker 5: Even Levis, though he's good, not taking anything away from him, but I think we're realizing Wandell was pretty special too as a route runner, and we haven't had many Wandell's to put with a quarterback. He really helped Levis. Levis would still be one without wand Dell. But Wandell was getting open no matter what.

00:40:33
Speaker 3: So I gotta act. I know what you're gonna say, but it's kind of online. If this is what you're gonna get from Calzato, why not make the switch to cut her, he gets.

00:40:41
Speaker 4: A conversation for later in the week, because I think Mark Stoops didn't act like that was crazy in his press conference yesterday. The idea of so, I mean he I think that's a conversation for tomorrow because I do think it's gonna be something we're gonna talk about, and if we get destroyed Saturday, it's gonna be something that might actually happen, so we will talk about it. We are appreciate you coming out here to Kentucky's Chaos Bar and grill open all day and night. Please come see us, try the new Burghers, wings, et cetera. And then tomorrow is Wings Day where wings are a dollar. Guys. It's nice to have football back though. Nice to bed we are undefeated. Yes, and check in with me tonight about seven o'clock to see how I survived this community meeting.

00:41:26
