A Deer Hunter’s Bigfoot Sighting in the Ozarks - My Bigfoot Sighting Episode 122

My Bigfoot Sighting

Tonight’s guest has spent just about as much time in the outdoors as pretty much anyone you’ll find. He grew up doing all sorts of things in the Ozark Mountains of Southwest Missouri. One of the things he used to like doing in those mountains was hunting deer. The last time he did any hunting in the Ozarks, however, was in the late 1990’s. You see, one day, in November, he went hunting on his parent’s farm and had an experience that caused him to swear off ever heading into the woods, in the Ozarks, by himself, ever again. He’ll be the first to tell you that the Sasquatch he encountered that day never displayed any aggressive behavior toward him, but now that he knows they’re actually out there, those mountains will never be the same for him.

Hey, you there, thanks for tuning in. You're ready for another episode
of My big Foot Siding? Right, then, let's do this. Seen
a bunch of run down no horse towns with the church at the backbonels and
the power and the pasting melodies, cove in with the bomb man Rose where
the roofs run deep beyond the nose of the busy streets, with the sons
of the South of su Then when I hear the promp porch picking down home
rhythm bringing out I Don't Run from Benjam music. Yeah, My big Foot
siding happened in the Ozarks in southwest Missouri in the late nineteen nineties. I
was going deer hunting. We always hunt down there on my parents' farm.
And I was down there with my dad, my brother, my cousin,
and a couple friends of ours that hunt regularly. It was in November,
mid November, and it was a second day of deer season, and it
was rifle season, and I hunt probably about i'd say a mile from where
our cabin's at. And to get to that spot, we take our quads
and I drive about i'd say a half a mile, quarter mile maybe maybe
not a half mile, and I walk the rest of the way in.
Well, I usually go in early by an hour or four daylight, and
that's only because I use a climbing stand, and I wanted to have the
wood settle down whenever I get in the wood, so I wanted to have
a little bit of time to settle down for daylight. I was sitting on
my stand, you know, it was a little chili that morning, and
I noticed that squirrels were hopping around right before daylight, and I was getting
a little excited, thinking maybe there's deers walking up on me. Then you
know how you get whenever you had adrenaline starts pumping what kind of quietening down
a little bit. And I guess it was around i'd say about seven point
thirty quarter to eight, and I was sitting there and the sun was coming
up, and it kind of gets a little colder when the sun's coming up,
so I was kind of bundling myself up a little bit and you know,
trying to get the chill off. And I guess probably about ten minutes
went by or so and I heard this loud like something jumped into the brush.
First thing that came to mind was a deer jumped over the fence because
our property backs to a national forest, and I thought, well, maybe
a deer. They some people were over there hunting and they chased deer over
So I sat there, and you know, I kind of warmed up a
little bit because my my adrenal was pumping a little bit and I didn't hear
it anymore. So I thought, well, okay, that's fine, and
I hunt kind of up on a hillside where there's a little saddle in between
where I can see both ridge wines on the right and the left of me,
and behind me goes down a valley and it goes down to a creek
bed, and going down to that creek bed is an old logging road that
they logged back in the forties, and it's grown up. I mean,
it wasn't where you could tell it was a road, but you could tell
there was a way through. So I was heading my back to that and
I was stac and forward. Well, I guess probably about an hour went
by and I started hearing some crunching in the wheat. Well I kind of
got a little excited again, and I was watching and that just happened to
look over and I seen that there was some squirrel bouncing around chasing each other.
So I got disappointed and I thought, well, shoot, there's you
know, squirrel really active. And I thought, well, that's not gonna
do me no good jumping around. I can't hear nothing. Well, I
decided, you know, to go ahead, and I had a little snack
cake and I opened up my snack cake and I kind of eating on that
a little bit. Well, the squirrel took off a tree real fast,
and I thought, okay, now maybe I can hear something. And I'd
say probably about twenty minutes after that, I heard a scrunching sound again,
and it was coming up behind me up that logging room. I turned around.
I was kind of tried to see as I could see, because I
said, I was up against the big tree. I was probably about i'd
say, seventeen feet up in the air, and I couldn't see nothing.
And I thought, well, you know, maybe you know, just squirreled
again. You know, I just can't see them. So I just went
around, turned back around and was eating my snack cake and finished that and
I put the wrapper in my pocket and was just kind of shut my eyes
a little bit, and I heard it again. But this time it was
consecutive. It was I mean, it was like something was moving. So
immediately I knew that that wasn't squirrel because it wasn't making a lot of racket
because how squirrels when they run through the weaves, you can hear them bouncing
around and stuff, and you know, you just can tell the difference if
you've been hunting a long time. And I've been hunting since I was a
kid, so you know, I knew the difference between squirrel and something walking
through the wood. Well, I turned around to look again, and I
really couldn't see nothing, and I thought, well, shoot, what is
it. Well, I just kept watching, and I so we started noticing
that there was this like a silhouette and down around where the creek bottom was
kind of moving around a little bit. A lot of things started going through
my head. Was well, this is you know, somebody trespassing coming across
over from the National Force onto our property. And I said, well,
i'most sit here and watch, and if it is and they get closer,
I'm gonna say, you know, hey, you're on private property. So
I kept watching, and as I looked down a little further down in the
ridge line, I could see that it was bigger than what a person was,
and I thought, well, that's not a person, and I said,
that's probably one of Jeans cattle. Well, Jeans my uncle then owned
some properties there too. My family owns probably about three hundred and sixty five
acres total through there with my dad and my uncle and everybody, and the
property, I said, it's been in our family since oh guy, the
late eighteen hundreds. Well, when I've seen that, I thought, well,
if a cattle or loosing heroes like that's that's not good. Because that's
the next thing came to my mind was it was cattle. And so I
just kept watching and watching and it started getting a little bigger as was coming
up the Volgin road there and I said, well, said, uh,
this ain't this ain't a cattle. I said, what is this? Though?
I kept watching and it was dark. I mean it was a It
wasn't really black and it wasn't brown, but it was kind of like blending
in with the trees a little bit. And it's hard to explain, but
it was just like blending. And I thought, well, shoot, that's
another Jeans cattle. Because his cattle were blackie and white. Because he's got
limousines and he's got you know, angus, and I thought, well,
that's not cow. And I looked back again tried to get a better look.
Well, I had a pair of binoculars, but I couldn't get to
him, and I was trying to fidget around. I thought, well,
if that's a deer, I don't want to spook it, and so I
got a little nervous about trying to get them binoculars out. So I kind
of turned to put my scope up. Well, when I put my scope
up and kind of tried to look through the scope a little bit, I
noticed that whatever it was was up against the tree now. And then I
thought, well, that's not a cow. If it is, he's standing
on his back way, so he's got his feet up on the tree.
And I said, well that's a person. I said, but that's a
big person. And the first thing that came to my mind, honestly,
is they looked like Andre the Giant. I mean, that's what it looked
like to me, is it was shaped like Andrea the Giant, a wrestler
that I knew from when I was a kid. And I said, man,
I said, that's a big old boy. I was like, I
don't want to really start no trouble with him, you know, if he
gets up here, you know, because telling him his trespassing, he might
have an attitude about it. Well, I just kept watching and next thing
I know, it stepped out. And when it did, it was it
was big. And like I said, I couldn't get a good picture of
him yet because it wasn't up on me yet. So I sat there and
watched and said, Okay, when he gets up closer, I'm gonna kind
of whistle and I know I'm here so that you know he doesn't think there's
a deer up here and shoot wildly, because you never know about people.
So I watched and watching. As he started walking, I noticed he was
kind of moving different than when a person walks. And I don't know how
to explain it, but you can just tell it was it wasn't a person.
And and there's the other brown bear down there, and there's black bear,
but this was walking, and I kind of got a little nervous.
I was thinking, well, what am I looking at? And so I
turned to put my scope on it again, and when I did, I
saw its face. And when I saw its face, it I'd explained it.
It was like old looking in a way, like it had wrinkles and
everything, and it was flat. It didn't look like a monkey. I
mean, people say Bigfoot looks like a monkey, but this didn't look like
a monkey. It was a flat face with wrinkles, real dark leathery looking
wrinkles. There was no hair on it. And I thought, well,
if somebody's out here during rifle season dressed up in a freaking costume to try
to spook somebody or play a joke, they're really stupid because there's a lot
of people out in them areas hunting with high power rifles. And I've wut
with a seven millimeter mag and I thought that it's a real idiot. I
watched and washed and it grabbed a tree branch and it pulled down and it
looked like it was smelling it. And then it just kind of let it
go. It didn't break it or anything, just let it go and walk
over to the side of the logging rolled down to another hillside and it stopped
and it kind of squatted a little bit. It didn't squat down toward the
ground, and it didn't bend over. It was like it was doing like
if somebody was lifting weights. That's what it looked like. It looked like
it just kind of went down. And I don't know if it was going
down, because it might have smelled me or seen me or something or knew
something right, But it just kind of squatted down a little bit. And
that's when I really started getting a little nervous, thinking, well, this
can't be real. It's the first thing came to my mind. I was.
I was getting scared. And by now, I guess it's probably been
about an hour and a half since the original time I heard it, So
we're looking about nine thirty ten o'clock in the morning. Well, I waited
and waited, turned back around. My heart was beating, I was breathing
heavily. I was. I guess you could see maybe hyperventilating a little bit.
And I thought, well, hum up in a tree. If I
said, real, still, it won't see me. Whatever it is,
it won't see me. Maybe it won't come up here. Well it did.
It started coming back on the logging road. I could hear it coming
up, and I didn't want to turn around again because I knew if I
turned around it would see me. And I just knew it, and I
was I was shaking. I didn't know. I honestly was praying. I
was praying real hard that please don't let this be something that's gonna hurt me.
And I was scared. So I sat there and sat there, and
it just kept coming up, and I guess it got probably about thirty yards
from my tree standing behind me, and I turned and looked and it was
it was hair, but it wasn't. It was like one of them shaggy
dog looking things here. It wasn't like what people say and I watch on
TV. It wasn't like that type of bigfoot. It wasn't all muscular.
It wasn't. It wasn't. It was huge, but it wasn't muscular huge.
It just his body flowed. And I'd say he's at least seven and
a half foot tall, at least, if not taller, you know,
maybe eight, but he was big and i'd say maybe three and a half
four feet wide up the shoulders. And I was shaken so bad that I
thought about getting my gun ready and if I had to, I was gonna
shoot it. I mean, I know that sounds bad, but I was
terrified, and going through my head was well if I shoot it and this
is somebody playing a prank, and again, this is gonna sound, you
know, really bad. But I was justifying that if it's a person,
well then I'm not gonna be in trouble because they're dressed up like this during
gun season. It's their own fault. Everybody. I won't go to jail.
I won't have to worry about that. Everybody will understand. But I
couldn't bring myself to hold my gun straight, and not that I was gonna
shoot it. Then I was gonna shoot it if it got real close and
seemed like it was gonna it was a threat. I'll be honest, I
was gonna shoot it if I thought it was gonna be So I just watched
and when it turned over towards the side, its back went to me.
Now there was no smell, and I'd say, now it's probably about maybe
twenty yards from me. I'm walking down like at maybe four o'clock, looking
straight down at it, and like I'm about seventeen feet up in the air,
and this thing could have easily probably reached up and touched maybe three foot
from under my tree stand. That's how big this thing was. It had
long arms. Its hands were furry. I didn't see it's palms or anything,
but I could see the hands were like they were fat, fat hands.
They were real fat fingers, like like somebody real overweight with hairy,
hairy fingers. And I said, okay. I was like, I'm just
gonna be calm. I was trying to not hyperventilate. And I said,
maybe he's gonna go down that ridge. And I said, if he does,
then I'm gonna fire some shots up in the air and maybe my dad
will hear them because he hunted. Probably I don't know, maybe five six
hundred yards from where I'm at, over on the other ridge, and he'll
think, well, I shot a deer and I shot twice, so he
might give me about twenty minutes and then he'll come over and see if I
got it. Because that's how we are. We listened for other people to
shoot, see if they need help, then we go try to help help
them. But we give them some time, you know. And it stopped
and it didn't go down the hill. It decided to turn to keep coming
up path. Well, now it's underneath my tree stand on the logging road.
I'm right next to the logging road and where the where the branches and
everything are getting real thick, and that's where I put my tree stand,
so because when I climbed down, I like it to be kind of hid
behind stuff. And there was a thicket there in the logging road where you
know, if anybody's coming down through there, they can't see my tree stand.
That also was in case people come in from outside of the property and
don't want to steal my tree stand. I had a nice, pretty nice
climber. Well, it got in that thicket and it just kind of looked
in it a little bit, and it put its hands in there like it
was spreading curtains, and it just opened it up a little bit in that
thicket, and it reached in there and it pulled his hand back out,
and not like it grabbed some but it pulled it out, like Okay,
I don't want none of that. So I don't know if there I doubt
there was a snake because it's pretty dang coat, but it just jerked its
hand back out in there, and it walked around on the other side of
it and just went around it and got back onto the ridgeline there where the
little saddle was. Well, when it got there, it stopped and it
started looking around and it looked behind it like something was coming up from behind
where it just came from. So I really started getting scared because I thought
there's another one, and I really was praying hard. Then I shut my
eyes and I was praying, so I wasn't really watching it. Now now
I'm terrified. It kind of went over the hillside, I guess, because
I didn't really see it after that point except for the top of it because
I had my eyes shut. I was scared, and it went over the
hillside there, and when it went on the other side of the hill,
it stopped and I could still see I guess, you'd say, maybe from
its chest up on the other other side of the hill. And I just
watched it and it just kept walking down and then so it disappeared down the
hillside. Now I sat there, I guess, for about twenty maybe thirty
minutes, shaking and try to get my wits, and I just knew there
was another one coming up because the way it looked behind it, something had
spooked it, or not spooked it. It wasn't scared, but it looked
back like, Okay, what was that back there? It couldn't have been
me because I was so still. I was sitting so at least I thought
I was, because I was terrified, but I thought there's still another one
coming up, so I didn't move well. When we hunt down there in
the Ozarks, on the mountains of the Ozarks, there on the property,
my dad always said, you know, if you get in a predicament,
you know, where there's a deer and it lays down on you, just
wait, you know, until it moves out, because you don't want to
see you up in the tree stand, because then it's gonna know you're there,
and then they'll kind of be weary of that area anymore. So I'm
sitting there taking all this in my head, taking, well, gosh,
I'm not coming back for lunch, so they're gonna think that the deer's laid
down and now I'm gonna stay out here because it's happened before and we've stayed
out all day till dark. So I sat there for the rest of the
day till it got dark, and I was terrified to come out of my
tree stand. And I knew that if I didn't come out when it got
dark, that my dad and my brother and our people we hung with,
our friends would come up there and they'd spook it out, because it's better
to spook it out from the ground than it is for them to hear something
in the trees. And I waited and waited and waited, and it seemed
like it took forever. After it got dark. Then I was getting really
scared cause I didn't hear no quads because in the dark, you can hear
when it's really still out there in the dark, and I didn't hear no
quads coming. Well, I guess probably, but I guess there's maybe six
o'clock in the evening and it's pretty dark out there. Now I heard the
quads and then I heard they drove in there on me and my dad was
my dad and his friend, and they came up and they, god guess,
about twenty feet from my tree stand. They stopped and they whistled,
and I whistled back, and they said, did it take off? And
I said, no, it didn't take off, and my dad goes,
well, he goes, come on, and I came down a tree stand.
I was shaken, and I actually I left my gun sitting on my
tree stand, and I went over and started walking over towards the quiet.
My dad goes, where's your gun? I said, well, I said,
oh, it's one of the trees stands. He goes, well,
don't weave that go. What do you do? And he goes and I
said nothing. I said, let's get out of here. Let's go.
And I said, you got your gun and Dad said, I got my
pistol. He goes, don't have my gun. I said, well,
okay. I said it's loaded, and he said yeah. I said okaycause
because I think there's a bear in here. And that's what I said,
was a bear, because I didn't want to say what I saw. I
was too scared to say what I saw. Still being in the woods,
we got back to the house and we went in and I went and got
much hunting clothes off and everything, and next thing I know, Dad comes
in there and he said, what did you see? Why are you acting
like you're acting? This is basically what he was and I said, Dad,
I saw something in the woods. And it wasn't a deer, it
wasn't a person, it wasn't a bear, it wasn't a cow. I
said it was walking And I said, dadd it was and I didn't use
the word bigfoot. I said it was a creature. Dad. I said,
there's there's something big in the woods walking around out there. And he
said to me, he goes, well, he goes, you might have
just saw something. Just think you saw something. He goes, probably somebody
dressed in camouflaging. And I said, no, Dad, I said,
Dad, it walked right past me. I said, Dad, it wasn't
that. And he said, well, he goes, it probably was.
You're just nervous. He got excited, and that's what And I said,
okay. I pretty much didn't say much more. And I told my brother.
We're sitting outside and my dad don't lot smoking in the house, so
me and my brother both smoked. So we went out on the porch and
I told my brother about it. Well, my brother just kind of hood
off, kind of laughed about it, and he mentioned it to Tad and
he goes, did Tenny Kenny tell you he'sa aw bigfoot? And Dad kind
of told me, he goes, you know, he goes, you shouldn't
be talking about that. You know, you got a high powered rifle and
you're out here in the woods and you're you're talking about silly crap like that,
and he goes, you need to kind of let's not be talking like
that. Okay, he goes, you know, you don't know what you
saw. He goes, I'm not saying your line, but I'm pretty sure
there's no bigfoot out here and everything. I said, Oh, okay,
Dad, So I just kind of let it go. I really never talked
about it again. You know. I get on forums on Facebook and stuff
like that where people were bigfoot sightings, and you know, I might mention
stumps from there, but I know what I saw, and I might sound
like any other bigfoot story, but when you experience it and you see it,
you're gonna know. And I know, God rest his soul. My
dad knows now what I saw because he had passed away two years ago,
and my dad knows what I saw, and I know what I saw.
But people laugh about this too much and they don't realize that these things are
out there. And I have not ever and this is Donald Scott truth.
I swear I have not hunted on my parents' property since then. And I
am fifty six years old and I've been hunting down there since I was probably
eight years old. Squirrel hunting rabbit hunting, well hunting, deer hunting.
I've done it all, and I've always been an outdoorsman. All the whole
family has and I have. I would by myself riding quads. I do
have quads and stuff and we might do some quad riding, but I've never
hunted back there again, being no woods by myself there. Now I have
up here around the area where I live here close to Farmington, Missouri.
I do go out there ride around by myself on my buggy and stuff I've
got outside by side, but I have not been back in the those arts
by myself since this happened. And anybody that listens that don't believe me,
that's fine, But when you experience it, you will see that this thing
is real and there is something out there. I'm not saying that it's gonna
hurt you because it didn't show aggression. And another strange thing that I've seen
because I started watching a lot of bigfoot stuff after this was there was no
smell. People say it stinks, and I don't know if it's because I
was sitting up so high and the tree that I couldn't smell it. But
I did not notice no smell whatsoever when it was by me, when it
was underneath my tree stand, when it walked in front, I didn't notice
no smell. The reason I guess maybe there was no smell is because I
was so nervous and I was terrified. But I do not recall any smell
whatsoever. The only thing that I know is that it wasn't like what I
see in pictures when people show pictures and make drawings and stuff like that.
This was a It was like a big, big and I don't want to
use the word gorilla or anything, because it didn't look it was more like
an orangutating face on it. It wasn't hairy. It it wasn't what I've
seen in pictures when people describe or people try to show in their videos that
are on believe it or not and all this stuff and they show it didn't
look like that. This was harry and the hair was like a grayish green
kind of hair. It wasn't camouflied. It wasn't It might have had some
dark spots up toward the top of the head, because it's was a little
darker than the rest of it, But I don't know if it had been
in the brush and the mud or what. But it just did not look
like what I've seen in drawings and stuff. It was big, it was
wide, Its body flowed freely. It wasn't muscular like you see where they
got big old muscles and all this was And it wasn't a suit, and
it was not It wasn't somebody in those hunting things that are all stringy and
stuff. I've seen it. I was right there by it. It was.
It was real, and whether people want to believe it or not,
that's fine. But when they experienced it, they were going to see that
that old boy was telling the truth. So anybody that listens that hunts in
the area close down there by Arkansas, it's the parents' farms, probably about
sixty miles from Arkansas and those ark Mountains, they're going to know that what
I described is exactly what they're looking at. And don't be scared because it
did not tried. It wasn't looking for me. So I don't know if
it didn't smell me because I had a lot of center waste sprayed on me,
or because I was so high, But it wasn't looking to be violent.
It was looking like it was more or less just walking around on a
stroll, looking around maybe for berries, I guess, for something, because
it wasn't really it wasn't aggressive, like I didn't feel even though I was
terrified, I didn't feel like it was looking to try to kill something or
harm something. It was more or less just strolling through the area and happened
to come under where I was hunting. And that's my story. And like
I said, you can believe it or not believe it, but I know
what I saw and it was not a bear. It was not someone in
a suit. It was real. And when you see it, don't shoot
it. Even though I talked about shooting it, I don't think it'd be
right because it seemed to me like it was not out the harm anything.
It was hunting around for stuff so eat or something, but it was not
looking to harm anything. So that's really basically my story. Thank you for
listening. Well that's it for tonight show. If you've had a big Foot
siding and would like to be a guest, please go to my Bigfoot Siding
dot com and let us know. Thanks for listening, Have a great night.
