Covino & Rich are in for the great Dan Patrick! They salute Steph Curry! Did we forget just how brilliant he is? They discuss the new person that Rich hates, someone who fights over and resells promo items from a stadium! There's a Padres promo vest story that has the crew laughing. Plus, they have too much fun with their Old-School topic of the week, movies that fall in line with 'Love & Basketball.' What romantic movies came out over the years that even macho men like Covino enjoy?

00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. 00:00:05 Speaker 2: Yes, Cavino and rich In for Dan Patrick. Good morning Live from the West Side. I hope you had a seventy six years Warriors short tonight. I say we start the weekend today. Why not? Good morning, mister Crabtree. 00:00:23 Speaker 3: Yeah, I hope you wandered your lawn this morning. 00:00:25 Speaker 2: Hell, I hope you're ready for some old school conversations because we throw it back on Thursdays. Old school and fifty hits, not in Life on the Clock because fifty is new forty. Right, That's what I heard. There's an old school hotty that's now on OnlyFans. We got to get to that, which curious if anyone's ever paid for an OnlyFans and would admit it. Yeah, OnlyFans, No way. We gotta talk about the importance or I guess you would say, the exaggerated love or not of tailgating. Yes, yeah, people, people are passionate about it. They're dusting off their beer helmets. So yeah, we have lots to get to on today's show. The Worldwide Leaders of Nonsense Coveno and Rich normally on Monday through Friday, worldwide nationwide from five to seven on the East, two to four on the west. 00:01:14 Speaker 3: But when they say hey, can you fill in for DP, we say absolutely. 00:01:19 Speaker 2: So this is day two of the Dan Patrick Hatrick, which means we'll be here tomorrow as well. So get ready. Yeah, listen. Lots of great feedback and appreciate the DP Dan at love. I mean there's a few haters. What was that great nickname we saw yesterday, ho Vino and bitch. Yeah, that's that was a good one. Yeah, it was a good one. I'm gonna roll with that one. I think it's like I had a ring to it. Make a T shirt. Yeah. 00:01:40 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:01:41 Speaker 2: Let's introduce our super producer is Covino ow Rich with Danny G. Danny Danny G was fired up about the NBA games last night. Go Mary Curry's on fire. 00:01:52 Speaker 4: Okay, he took me back in time. 00:01:54 Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, so we'll talk about that, and of course Iowa Sam is our sound architect. This is the show, so we hope you enjoy it and if not, give us another chance. 00:02:03 Speaker 3: Let's go, Hey we're here. 00:02:05 Speaker 2: Yes, yes, our first date didn't go well, give you another chance. 00:02:09 Speaker 3: Now, speaking of Curry, let's jump right into it. 00:02:13 Speaker 2: You know what else we need to get to today. Yeah, people on social media can't wrap their brain around a team's new logo that was leaked, okay, and now the teams come out and it's like, yeah, this is an alternate logo, it's an NFL team and get what would you say the physics of the logo. I have three words for those people complaining about the logo and I'll save it. Find out what they are. But you're over promising a lot of stuff, right. I don't know how much time we have, but whatever we don't get to today. We do have a bonus pod called over Promised because Rich always over promises things we never get to. 00:02:44 Speaker 3: And a new episode drops today. 00:02:46 Speaker 2: That's right here on the YouTube page where we're streaming live at Coveno and Rich FSR. At Coveno and Rich FSR, look out for over Promised. And let's go the Warriors with the big win last night, seventy six ers with the big win. But the big story is Steph Curry. Yeah, because you can't count the guy out. He still got it. Thirty five points, hit that three at the end, and man, they looked like they were on fire. 00:03:14 Speaker 3: Left, well, he looked like he was on fire. 00:03:16 Speaker 4: Yeah, not just him, but old man Al Horford. Horford hit four threes in a row, which was amazing, and the Warriors bench was going crazy watching him do his thing. And then Draymond Green with his lockdown defense at the end of the game, a couple of big time steals there to shut down Kawhi and the Clippers. 00:03:34 Speaker 2: Dude, Steph Curry was a middle aged guy at the gym that like the young girl flirted with once and he's like still got it. Sounds like. 00:03:43 Speaker 3: Something that may have happened to you, possible. 00:03:46 Speaker 2: But now Steph, as Dandy G said, I aprecio him, meaning like, is he just reminding us, like, hey, it's not just Lebron We're gonna miss at some point, Like this guy has delivered so many clutch, amazing, fun performances to watch just his touch, just well, even the he shoots the ball different than anyone else, just like, uh, well, he changed the game, there's no question about it. Go to any playground in the world or just watch the NBA. Now, I'm just saying, even stylistically, like just watching him shoot is something I think the world will miss. 00:04:18 Speaker 4: Yeah, and the fun he has when he plays the passion he plays with. He's doing his chow Shaw dance there at the end. 00:04:24 Speaker 3: Yeah, I can do without that shut. 00:04:28 Speaker 2: But yeah, the fire I would say that he plays with is contagious and memorable. And if you follow social media and we don't expect you to let us do the dirty work. I was doing the ball scroll all night. And by the way, they say you shouldn't do that too long, it's bad for you. But I'm there and I'm scrolling, scrolling, and it's like everyone talking about Curry saying, you know, we do talk about Lebron and we automatically think Lebron is the goat of this generation, but it might be Curry. That's a question and debating itself. But not even that. Are we taking note and giving him the credit he deserves. Are we understanding what we're witnessing here when he's playing at this high level, at this stage of the game, he still has it when people, I don't want to say, counted him out. But he's thirty eight years old, which is a young guy in life, but an older guy in the court. Our memory is short, as they say, you know, most people have the memory of a goldfish. 00:05:25 Speaker 3: Because we're always on to the next. 00:05:27 Speaker 2: But you can't forget that this guy dominated the NBA for a while, just because the last couple of seasons the Warriors have been like, you know, in that playing area that you know, bottom of the Western Conference. Not terrible, but like, you know, like not good. We forget that there was a time where the Warriors were automatic, like they were. They were winning every year, and if they didn't, you'd be like, oh, that's shocking. Well, you know, it's wild about it too. NBA finals after NBA finals after NBA finals, Like they say, your kids are a great reminder of how fast time is moving, right, and my daughter's sixteen. I'm still trying to pay off that sweet sixteen and you know, she's like a grown up now, she's gonna be driving soon. That's when Curry started playing in the NBA in two thousand and nine. So just think of it that way. You know, you're like, yeah, I mean he's not that old. Yeah, but he's seventeen years into his career. That's the thing. Like he's been around for a while. I thought about that that day. He still playing the way Danny g described last night when we were talking about Aaron Judge and Mike Trout's battled the other night. Well, and you're like, Mike Trout, damn, he's been in the league logging back. Fuck is he started so young? And he started young, and Aaron Judge was a late bloomer, as they say, so their primes never hit at the same time. Their peaks, their MVP seasons never ever hit at the same time. So it's cool to see them hitting home runs in the same games because they never had those moments. Really, I think for a lot of us, and I say a lot of us, you know, assuming there's a lot of people that are in their forties. I know we got older listeners as younger listeners. Dan Patrick's audience is pretty damn big. What should I say, pretty Dan big. I guarantee that for a lot of people, Ken Griffy Junior was their first example of well, I saw that guy. I saw him as a kid, the kid King Griffey Jr. Backwards hat and you watched it from start to finish, And for me, that was one that I I visually could see the beginning and end well, because yeah, he was the hat backwards guy. You know, his dad was in the league. You identified with him, you were pumped about him. You watched his whole career. But I'm saying for a millennial, For a millennial, Lebron and Steph were that Yeah, Bron even more so. But for a millennial, it's a coming evation for us. Though. For Rich and I I think our first realization of wait a second, people get old is when you realize the third base coach actually played. You just thought he was some old guy named Ebenezer that was standing out when you were a kid. It shocked you when your parents, like, you know, David Johnson used to be a player. You're like, what, Marky Anderson? What same stories? Like your parents be like, I remember when they played you like, that guy played play he looks like a Redden backer. That guy you're gonna tell me he played in baseball, played in the league or what sport? I remember my dad tell me, uh yeah, the announcer Tim McCarver, hell of a ballplayer. I'm like the announcer that guy years old. And then you witnessed it. You know who was the first guy for you? Was it Griffy Griffy as a player, Grify I think was if you're talking superstars like you what you yeah, I would say Griffy then for me, I guess Jeter right, because you watched him come up and retire and now he's in the Hall of Fame. If you fell victim to the late eighties early nineties baseball game hustle. Now baseball cards are back in a big way. But in the late eighties early nineties were when they were mass produced and you were collecting your stadium clubs and upper decks, and you thought those cards are gonna be worth a lot. So you were collecting all these Griffy and Frank Thomas rookies. And then when you watch those guys go from the dude, you were getting their rookie cards in elementary school too. I watched it from start to finish. Huh. That's I think that's what a lot of millennials and younger people are seeing now with Steph and Lebron and and other guys in different sports. When you saw Brady and Manning, we watched that start and finish. I was sam. Anyone come to mind for you? Probably those guys. 00:09:24 Speaker 5: Brady Manning and Aaron Rodgers still playing and you're just like gripping out his legacy like before he retires, like you know, but it's just stay around. 00:09:31 Speaker 2: It's a wild thought. You know. Again, Father time is undefeated. But when you see legends and all your favorite sports and you remember those early rookie years and then when you look back, you're like, their hair was different, theyvee had a different uniform sometimes, and you're like, man, time time is fine. But I think the point here is we got a little glimpse of Oh, that's right, that's why Steph Curry is a legend. Yeah, take these moments in because how many do we have left? And we got to witness it one last time at least for now, last night, and. 00:10:05 Speaker 4: We haven't forgotten how brilliant Steph Curry is. It's just he was hurt for so many weeks and on the shelf. And remember when he first got injured, they didn't think it was that bad. And he's like he even said himself, oh I thought I'd miss a couple of games. He missed weeks and weeks and weeks, and then he got back just in time for this moment. 00:10:26 Speaker 2: Well that's also part of it, right. You don't bounce back the way you used to. Now I'm still trying to work out this shoulder problem that I have, and I keep saying to myself, is this gonna ever go away? Or something I have to live with the rest of my life? 00:10:39 Speaker 4: You want to share with the DP audience how you hurt that? 00:10:42 Speaker 6: No? 00:10:42 Speaker 2: Really, hey, you know what it happens nowadays you have to ask yourself is this the start of something or is it going to go away? 00:10:49 Speaker 3: Luckily for Steph, it seemed to go away. Just took a long time. 00:10:52 Speaker 2: He's only thirty eight, but the physical total he puts on his body is much different than you know, what we're doing. I mean, I feel why do we feel young? But someone wants told me any acre pain post forty could be permanent, could be permanent, like if you're if you're like ankles always sort of bothering you, that might just be something you deal with until you're old. I got a shoulder Tell everyone, hey, hear your shoulders? 00:11:13 Speaker 4: All right? 00:11:14 Speaker 2: I got two coming of age stories, and we're, you know, really just here to praise Steph Curry. But he's doing it at thirty eight, and I know that sounds ridiculous because he's still the young guy in life. Yeah. DAIRT Cheeter once said that, right, Yeah, it might be a a young guy in life, but he's an older guy on the court at this point, especially the NBA, because it's a young guy's league for sure. It's hard to keep up. There was a fly. There was a fly in my house, and it was driving me berserk. Honestly, I go to war at least a few times a week. I'm like, oh, man, where's the swatter, let's go. But this time I thought I'd pull a Miyagi. I was like, all right, this one had a little bit of ad, a little bit. 00:11:57 Speaker 3: Of a lag to him. You know those they're a little fatter and slow. 00:12:00 Speaker 2: When when you get a fat, slobby Oh my god, I got this one. But you know what I do. Sometimes I'll be honest, I'm a I'm a I'm a man of nature. Sometimes when I see a slow ass fly in my kitchen, I'll open the window and be like, go ahead, shoot live out your last minute. What's that commercial with a fly? 00:12:17 Speaker 3: I think he was a segum cursia where he was born to be alive. 00:12:22 Speaker 2: His whole day. The fly realized he only had that day to live, so he went out and partied. Sometimes I'll try to be nice, to be like you know, I feel bad killing a lazy old fly. I'm like, can just go outside, Jeff Golm, thank you. I was trying to, uh see if I still had it. So I tried to pull like you broke up chopsticks. No no, no, I tried to pull like a snag, like a right, I get it. I tried to get it as fast as I could, using my my fast twitch muscles, and uh, I'm not sure I used them the right way because when I snagged with all my force and all my speed, I think I popped something in my shoulder. It is the story ever, like, I'm not proud to share that story. And I'm like, oh man, my shoulder. Oh take your rotator cuff, still playing ball? No, no, this fly, I was trying to snag it in my kitchen. I think it got the best of me. 00:13:15 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:13:15 Speaker 2: So the fly one round one and I'll think it myself. Steve zero, Yeah exactly. I'm like, oh man, I hope this goes away. Four months later, I went to the orthopedic doctor and everything. Now I got to get an MRI. Like I'm taking painkillers, so bear with me, dude, I'm on medication. My shoulders as that Fly finally kicked the bucket. It left. The last thing that Fly did was like, dude, I'm at the gym. I'm telling the younger guys at the gym, like, yeah, I'm still trying to work out this injury, you know, because I'm barely pushing out any weight and barely doing anything. 00:13:48 Speaker 3: I'm on the treadmill with all the old ladies. 00:13:50 Speaker 4: What's the doctor professional or did he laugh when you told them? 00:13:53 Speaker 6: Oh? 00:13:53 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's so funny too, because you they always ask you all, you know, how'd you do it? 00:13:58 Speaker 3: You know at the gym. 00:14:00 Speaker 2: Well, the truth is, that's how I heard it, and then I think I made it worse at the gym. That's that's the truth. But when I told him the story, He's like, it makes sense because you know, when you jerk your your muscles like that with that speed and you're not you know, used to doing that, you're gonna get hurt sometimes. And that happened to me. And I know that's the dumbest story ever. But the other realization rich, like the time realization that we're describing with Steph Curry and all these other players watching their careers unfold. One of the craziest ones that we don't talk about enough is when you see a player, a dad, a player that you watch like a like a cecil fielder, and then you watch his kid come up in the league. 00:14:40 Speaker 3: You're like, oh man, his kid's playing, and then his. 00:14:42 Speaker 2: Kid's already done. Oh man, Like we don't talk about bad enough. I mean, like Prince came and went already. I don't have they both at three hundred and nineteen home runs and you probably saw most of them. When you see Prince's kid in the league, you're gonna be like, oh no, I don't have the list in front of me, but remember last and the I'll be draft any There was like an ab normal amount of like juniors and sons of people we knew. Just look rather leak now two of your bigger stars, Boba Schett, Fernando Tattis junior. These are just the sons of guys we collect the baseball cards of the nineties. 00:15:16 Speaker 3: But that's why you feel good about Curry doing what he did, because you're like, all right, keep going, man, keep boys. 00:15:20 Speaker 2: Is fun to root for that. 00:15:22 Speaker 4: I can't think of the player, but this reel has been going around where his son was not even knee high, and he threw out the first pitch to his dad, who caught it as the catcher. And then fast forward all these years and the son is a pitcher now and the dad's retired and threw the first pitch to his son. 00:15:38 Speaker 2: I did see that too, Yeah, no one else didn't. Dusty Baker's Oh yeah, the bat boy, the bat boy that he grabbed out of the way. That kid made his major league debut, right for real. And by the way, bat Boy from the Mexican newspaper is seventy five years old now, bat Boy, bad half boy, feeling old? Yet Cavido's grandmother believe that that boy was on the cover every Mexican all right, So we gotta give the whole point of this conversation is old guy Steph Curry, which I feel funny even saying it's true, is still doing it on a high level when it matters. That's all that matters here is to do it when it counts. The Warriors win on his shoulders, on his back thirty five points last night and had a solid first half hold no second half. Are we taking notes of what we're witnessing like you gotta take it all in, like, hey, take this song in while it's still here, so you can tell your grandkids when you're feeding the ducks one day, like hey, s Steph Curry play Hey, let me tell you like you know, you know how many more moments of this do we have? Is that what we're gonna do when we'd like two old guys just feeding the ducks the ducks talking about it. Remember when you grab that hot booty back of the day. Oh yeah, she was. 00:16:57 Speaker 4: I don't think so you're still going to be flying to Vegas to cover some. 00:17:00 Speaker 2: Possibly uh ste lo In Stockton hit us up with a couple of good piece of feedback. And by the way, stream is hot right now. We're we're live streaming on YouTube as well, and the into Chad got a lot of good feedback. You could read that speaking of old guy moments, you could read that right there. Break out your glasses, Are you serious, Steve? Oh yeah, let me get my binoculars. Stilo said. Vladdie Junior, there's another another name of Yeah. We saw dad with the best arm in the outfield, and now Vlatty Junior is one of the best players. And he said as far as wait, mom, Dad, that third base coach or manager used to play. He gave a great example. Remember watching a ton of wrestling as a kid in the eighties and nineties. I remember my Grandpappy, my grandfather saying Gorilla month Soon, he used to be a wrestler, And I'm like, big old Gorilla month Soon. I mean, I guess the name is Gorilla month Soon. But I remember being shocked that Gorilla mon Soon was a wrestler. Yeah, it's an old guy thing to be like. I remember when his dad played, and you do you remember Delkerry? 00:18:07 Speaker 6: You know? 00:18:07 Speaker 2: And that's the truth. And now Steph is like the older guy in the league. But he doesn't look. It doesn't look That's what I was going to say. He's a baby face. 00:18:16 Speaker 4: Yeah, he's in our company, which I appreciate, like nobody would know that we're all in our early sixties. 00:18:21 Speaker 7: Yea. 00:18:22 Speaker 4: But he doesn't move like an old dude, and he doesn't look like an old dude. 00:18:27 Speaker 2: No, not at all. Uh And and that's a badass about him. But yeah, the truth is he's thirty eight, and I'm glad he's putting on his show right now for these younger dudes too, on their come up. Reminding him what it's about, how he changed the game. And again social media, just to wrap up that point, really is praising him today, which is nice to see, even. 00:18:48 Speaker 3: Though he doesn't need the praise. We all know he's a legend. He might be on the uh. 00:18:54 Speaker 2: I hate the mount rushmore reference? Is there another Top four that we keep throwing another monument? You're give me an ask from the Baby you Got Back video? What's another? He hoisted on as mountain one day where Sir mix a lot filmed his video. You know, he changed the game and people are saying move over Lebron, like because it's always always Lebron, always always Lebron, and it's just a story and people are just trying to get clicks. But I'm seeing a lot of that today again, Prisoner of the moment. He had a big game, Nordic might on the on the intro chat changed his font to all boldened caps, and he's like, can you read this? 00:19:31 Speaker 8: No? 00:19:32 Speaker 2: Truthfully no, but I blame it on for you. No, it's all good because I blame it on COVID. 00:19:36 Speaker 4: You know. 00:19:37 Speaker 2: So six years later, when my hairline looks a little questionable or I can't see her my shoulder herds COVID man. I haven't been the same side effects from twenty twenty. It's still truth, though. I'm telling you my eyesight has never been the same. You know how you know you're getting old and I'm a I'm a I'm an age denier. When you watch del Curry play and then you see Seth and Steph in the league and they're their way out. Yeah, when and then when their kids come in, that's when you know that I have two signs that have nothing to do with sports. When your son has a mustache, No, I don't know what nothing to do with sports. Two thoughts Number one, I'm not there yet on either of these, but you see it all the time when you're at a nice restaurant and someone in your party breaks out the flashlight in their phone for the menu. 00:20:23 Speaker 3: Oh that's the weakest. 00:20:24 Speaker 2: You break out the flash lot on your phone. You're giving boomer energy. Yeah, I try not to do that. And another one is I'm not trying to hurt any feelings of you know listens. Yeah, I'm just saying. 00:20:38 Speaker 4: I guess preface it so he can upset an entire group of people. 00:20:42 Speaker 2: Just say, respectfully, respectfully, we have an older listeners. I'm I'm a I respect my elders, but if you are, you a chopped dunk rist. People want to know. I think when you I don't know when it happens. Tell me is it fifty? Is it sixty? When? When do you make the on your iPhone? Bigger? You ever see? Like your mom or dad? Yeah what I'm saying, Like you see their text messages, the biggest texts like the up whoa, I ain't doing that? 00:21:11 Speaker 4: No way? 00:21:13 Speaker 2: So again the courage. No, it's a forty year old man game. Though when you're in your forties you do have to hold the phone back a little bit. 00:21:20 Speaker 5: I like that little on my laptop, I increase the size of the fund and sometimes I'll stretch the page out. 00:21:26 Speaker 2: It's just easier on your eyes. There's no shame in that. 00:21:30 Speaker 4: I don't know. 00:21:33 Speaker 2: But again, it's a fun conversation and big night for If Steph wasn't getting older long in the tooth, it wouldn't be as big of a story because he's always been great. I know. 00:21:44 Speaker 3: It's a completely major props. 00:21:46 Speaker 2: Take it all in and uh appreciate what we're witnessing is really the core of what we're getting at. I know it's a completely different team, so I'm not trying to make some terrible sports analogy, but there's a few remain. I mean, it could just be Draymond and Steph, but you know they still have a couple of guys from their championship caliber runs and all those championships are they now? If they win tomorrow in that playing game, Danny g on Friday, Tomorrow, Friday already damn sweet? If they win, do they become the feel good let's root for Steph against OKC? Does that make Round one actually something to watch? It does because if you if you, if you told me it was Okay se versus any other lower eight seed, you'd be like, that might be a series you keep an eye on, but you're not watching closely. 00:22:39 Speaker 4: But Golden State, yeah, they travel, they travel to Phoenix, so they need to get passed to beat the Suns tomorrow. 00:22:48 Speaker 2: But if they do, I think Golden State and Steph becomes that man? Whant did that be something? It at least makes an eight to one matchup watchable. 00:22:59 Speaker 3: Gives you reason to watch, gives you reason to route. 00:23:02 Speaker 2: Because if it were an offense, if it were Suns, ok see, I think you'd have less interest in that. 00:23:08 Speaker 4: Yeah. And by the way, in the on the eastern side of things, we talked about LaMelo Ball on the show yesterday and the tripping, and so the NBA did weigh in because no foul obviously was called when that happened to Bam and it was so blatantly Yeah, the they just missed it. But thirty five thousand dollars fine. Twenty five thousand dollars fine. For the comments he made after the game. I guess he used some profanity. 00:23:33 Speaker 2: Damn. 00:23:34 Speaker 4: What about what about punching the mascots? I think he was just scot Yeah, it was friendly fire. But for that play in game, the Hornets go to Orlando, they have to get past the magic. 00:23:46 Speaker 2: By the way, you know what you made me think of though, not to be all over the place, but yeah, he hit the mask on. Do you remember that famous clip of Deontay Wilder Thursday where he was on it might have been an ESPN said there was an ESPN deports he was, yeah, do you know this story, Bronze Bomber, don't tell you wild Deonty Wilder's there and like this giant taco mascot comes out, or burrito mascot like, hey, we're the Burritos or whatever, we're the dancing Burrito. The dancing burrito mascot comes out the bronze bomber Deonty Wilder, who just won two weeks ago, like cocks back and boom knocks him out. Dude, I like he momentarily forgot that there was a human inside there and what did he think was going on? And I remember that he knocked out the guy inside. It was like, what is that about? If you've never seen that clip, it's worth looking up, if not now, later on, Yeah, doing the ball scroll Like we said, all right, hey, we got a lot to get to, so props to Steph Curry and the Warriors and the Warriors in fact, you know what something to touch on next just for a minute and then I have a I got it. We gotta dissect this new Are we giving the Warriors too much credit? Because who said the Clippers are the uh Mets of the NBA? 00:25:02 Speaker 4: Somebody called into the network and asked the host if the Clippers or if the Mets are the Clippers of Major League Baseball? Yeah, I mean when you think about and have multi billion dollar owners and they just can't get the locker room right. 00:25:14 Speaker 2: So put that in perspective like a Curry beat the Mets last night? Whoop whoop do do? 00:25:19 Speaker 4: How? 00:25:19 Speaker 2: Whoop do you do? 00:25:20 Speaker 4: Well? 00:25:21 Speaker 2: Sorry, let's just woo do woop doo do. 00:25:24 Speaker 4: So you know what, what'd you think of Rushing's Grand Slam last night? Rich? 00:25:28 Speaker 2: Can I tell you I feel better about one thing. It's not like I picked the wrong Mets Dodgers getting to go to Whatever of the three I would have picked, I would have lost anyway. So you know what, there is a thought out there before we get to this NFL logo that's blowing people's minds as a new NFL logo, Man, don't over hide this. This is the most fizzle of a story ever. If that ain't a tease I've never heard of, You're right, wait till you hear what people are are are complaining about that. People bitch and complain about anything. He's why people have a problem. There's a new NFL logo, a team has unveiled. They've unfurled a new logo. We'll get to that next. And you know what, based on what you just said about my Mets, you son of a What is the worst second city team? If a team like, is it the Clippers? Is it the Mets? Is it the White Sox? 00:26:24 Speaker 4: Like? 00:26:24 Speaker 2: Are you gonna say the worst number two? Because uh, you're about to. I'm looking at the feedback we were talking about the worst number two's. Yes, people were taking it into television and movies and stuff like that, And someone said, the Jeremy Renner of Born movies is the Angels and Matt Damon is the Dodgers. Someone else set us up with Ashton Coocher. Ashton Kutcher is like the number two to a Charlie Sheen. Remember they tried to do that on Two and a half Men. So it's it's not just sports, it extends into everything. What's the worst sequel that comes to mind? Like immediately for you? Sequel? Yeah? The part dude? Was it Hotshots? Part Due? I'm just saying, what's the worst number two when it comes? There's so many of them? 00:29:11 Speaker 4: All right? 00:29:12 Speaker 2: Man? Well, I have a new person I hate? Could I throw that out there? Wow, there's a new worst type of person out there that I think we need to call out on a sports network as big as FS are. Can I say I hate everyone that was hating on me yesterday on social media? I hate you right back. I just want you to know that it goes both ways. Buddy, you don't like me, well guess what, I don't like you either. I'll be honest, I'm a big fan of people that are fan of me. You know the guy that said ho vino and bitch, Yeah, I don't like you either, Bro, I hate that guy. I'll tell you who I hate. I can I throw it out there. I don't really hate that guy, but I for that second, I'm like, I hate you right back, my friend. We had a lot of great conversations yesterday. We talked a little bit about the w n B A and how no one's talking about the unprecedented romance between Paige Becker's and Azy Fudd. 00:30:05 Speaker 3: Well unprecedented at this level, right. 00:30:08 Speaker 2: Meaning two superstars that are like intimate and dating, like on the same team, and it's not being a judge standpoint, from like a business standpoint of like star This is a really interesting story. My my buddy Nicole, who I work with at Serious Exam, she heard us talking about that and she goes, doesn't that happen? Did you guys? Mention? How on like a TV show where co stars date and then they have to keep doing the show. And I'm like, how did we not think of that? She's like, there'll be romances on a set a movie. You go, you're done, But there are shows that last season after season after season. If in season one two of the co stars are stippin', they may have to work together. 00:30:47 Speaker 4: Like Greg and Marcia Brady. 00:30:49 Speaker 2: Year after year after year after isn't it Greg? And the mom wasn't wasn't Barry Williams allegedly with Greg? Was with everybody? Wasn't he with Alice Parry Williams bro But that was an interesting thought that, Yeah, I guess that happens on TV show Season one two hot stars start canodling and then it's like, oh man, that didn't work out. The show did no So now we got to see each other every day for season two, three, four five, And I thought, that's a good point. Now, I said, there's a new person I hate. Here's the person I hate, the person that fights over stadium promotional items. We talked about the Yoshi bobblehead a week or so ago at Dodger Stadium. That was a big deal. Five hondo on emy and on you know marketplace. People are selling five hundred dollars Yoshi bobbleheads. People apparently flew in from Hophong to get this bad boy. I was at Hello Kitty Sweatshirt night the other night they had the Pope hat at the White Sox game. Did you see that? Police had to break up brawls? People were throwing fists for the new Padres puffer vest. I'm sorry people want that. I gotta check this bad boy out. I'll be honest. For a promotional item, It's it's pretty cool, But the Padres puffer vest it, that's what that's what's it. I just always think of those lame, old wrapping fans that they had now picturing those guys wearing these vests. San Diego most beautiful place, but some of their fans have not done them justice. But yeah, there were fights breaking out and we. 00:32:25 Speaker 4: Don't win titles, but we got puffy vestock. 00:32:30 Speaker 2: It's a cool promo item. But the Padres puffer vest you shouldn't. Honestly, are you investing, bro, you're grown up. People were punching Denny. 00:32:42 Speaker 7: Oh. 00:32:42 Speaker 3: By the way, it's reversible. That's probably why. 00:32:44 Speaker 2: Police had to break up brawls. There were I think arrests made because people. 00:32:50 Speaker 5: That's my puffer vest Enrich going from anywhere from sixty to seventy dollars on eBay right now. But you know what, it's probably not even that well made, But that's a steal compared to the Dodger promotional item. 00:33:03 Speaker 2: Or any like. You know why it's a great promotional item though, because I see other dudes, especially like dudes that at at ball games, like the dads, dads at the basketball games I love best. They love vest, Like, hey man, great to see other dads are wearing their vest drinking their coffee. You know. Has a theory that once you go vest, it's like that's your thing. 00:33:21 Speaker 3: Like yeah, Like I'm on, like, I have never yet purchased a vest, So if they're going to give me one for free, I'm like, yeah, I'll. 00:33:27 Speaker 2: Take it and see if it works. I loves Comito's phrasing. He goes, bro He comes up to me like a month ago, he goes, are you in vesting? 00:33:35 Speaker 4: Well, you know why. 00:33:35 Speaker 2: I came back from Idaho and I noticed all the dudes there. It's like the it's like the official uniform of the dads. It's like it's like Oakley's and Texas. It's like chill mornings, warm afternoons. You want to be able to ditch that vest. You want to have like a long sleeve shirt. I thought they hate sleeves. You hate these people they hate sleeves, you look like, yeah, exactly like I like a like a warm torso, but I like chili arms. 00:34:03 Speaker 4: Such a back to the future look though. 00:34:05 Speaker 2: Yeah, when I was a kid in the Ages, jump look, is that a light preserver? And my point was, if you're gonna give me one for free, yeah, I'll definitely take one, because I haven't bought one yet, So I can see why people want this vest, this puffer vest. But is it It sounds like a ridiculous question, But first of all, do we all agree that the worst type of like a new person to hate is the person getting in fist fights over a stadium giveaway. 00:34:27 Speaker 5: It's like people fighting on Black Friday, back when Black Friday meant something. People fighting over a TV and they're like trampling each other and stuff. 00:34:34 Speaker 2: Yeah, don't don't fight over a puff, a puffer vest or a Yoshi bobblehead. I think they're going for on ebear right now. 00:34:40 Speaker 5: Sam said, like sixty to seventy bucks. 00:34:43 Speaker 4: But that hoodie, that rich gut, those are already going for a couple hundred bucks. The Hello Kitty, Yeah. 00:34:50 Speaker 5: And these listen, these things aren't always like well made either like they start, you know, losing feathers or whatever, Like they'll start like a little loose threads, like they're they're made cheaply because they they're giving out forty thousand. 00:34:59 Speaker 2: Of them, you know. Get the great Dan Patrick, I feel like is a guy that invests, Yeah, and corduroy vests. He has nice sweet Quota roy pants. 00:35:07 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:35:08 Speaker 2: But it's a ridiculous question. But do you feel like you're either a vest guy or not? Like you go to that giveaway. Let's say you are Dad in San Diego. I feel like you are cut from a like Danny G. Your style and everything. You're not a vest guy. No, you're a jersey guy. You're a button down guy when you dress up your jeans. Got Like, I can't picture Danny G coming in with like a Raiders puffer vest, Like it just I don't it now. I was Sam, I look at you. If you came in here with like a like a yellow Iowa puffer vest, I'd be like, well, that makes sense to see. 00:35:41 Speaker 5: I'm in the point of my life where I wear a lot of button up, uh short sleeve shirts over a T shirt like I am wearing right now. There will be a time where I transition to the vest. You have him like, you know how you know, in high school I was a vest guy and then I transition away from it. I had I like I've shopped at structure Men's expressed. 00:35:57 Speaker 2: I love how you have a plan because because I always say that, I go, you know, down the line when I hit like fifty year older, I think I'm gonna transition into golf. I think I think, you know, fifty plus, I'm gonna invest in my golf game. I love that You're like, one day I'll be a vest guy again. Yeah again again. You know, I don't know if that look is for me, but I think it's a cool look. So I would want the free vest, so I'm not fighting anybody over it. And when I say i'd want the free vest, that doesn't mean I want to padres one. I'm just saying I would want to give away question. But you know what, Rich Rich and I love to disagree, and that just happens organically. I actually agree with him. People that fight over things like this deserve a karate kick to the neck. 00:36:40 Speaker 4: Yeah, well, they're in the Disney adult category who pushed the little kids out of the way to the meet. 00:36:46 Speaker 2: No worse than that when you said push kids. I saw an old clip and listen, it happens every day, but this old clip was ultimately embarrassing. I saw Derek Jeter when he was playing, walking towards the crowd to give this little kit a ball, and some grown ass man kept going in front of the and I'm like, how embarrassing. Stop embarrassing yourself. You hate that Zach Hampbell guy that steals all the home runs from the kids, Then, oh, that guy's a villain. Yeah, but you know what, We've interviewed him and I found him to not be that annoying. But it seems like everyone on social media hates that his gimmicks annoying. But it's a gimmick. 00:37:23 Speaker 4: I get it. 00:37:24 Speaker 2: I will say, however, anyone at a ball game that tries to get in front of a kid for a ball or an autograph or even a free item, that you're cover from the same cloth as the person that punches someone for a bobblehead. 00:37:39 Speaker 3: Yeah, like, you just got a bobblehead and you took it from a kid on a loser A loser, don't be a loser. Don't be a loser. 00:37:46 Speaker 2: Uh, And don't fight people over a free puffer vest, especially a San Diego padres one. Here. You want it, you can have it. So that's funny, man, I missed that. I don't know how I missed that. I don't get Padre updates. I guess I just I thought it was wild to think that every week. And you know what, when I was a kid, did your parents We went through a couple of ball games a year, and I think my mom did look at the promotional calendar. We would well, like, Richie, do we want to like if we're gonna go to one or two? Get you know, if your family's gonna go to a game of full on bat. When you were kids, it was like fireworks night. I remember parents would always be like, let's go to Fireworks night or New York Mets Weapons Night, and he'd give you a bat bat. Yeah you know what. 00:38:26 Speaker 4: I I remember I got Ricky Henderson bat one time when I was a little kid. I'm like, I cannot believe they just gave me of my full size baseball bat. 00:38:36 Speaker 2: Yeh for real? If we full bat? And sometimes you get those little ones too. Remember all the mini would mini would bat if Spot or video remember old school like batting glove day and you get those like pleather like cheap batting gloves. You know what? I remember there was a promotional item I had for years. If our video guy Spot could find this in the next thirty seconds, I'd be impressed because I remember it was. You know when you have the things that were in your childhood house that never went away, like you think you threw it out and somehow it pops up again. That plastic helmet, not the pleasant helmet, that weird brown insert. Do you remember in the eighties the advent of the rally cap and I think the eighty six mets one of the first credit where you flipped the top up and they would put the ball there. Yeah, say velcrow ball in like a nineteen eighties rally cap, And I think would you say the eighties might have been the first decade where they started doing promo nights. I don't think they were doing that in this. Do you think they were doing everybody got Reggie bars in the seventies. Everyone did get reggie bars in this because there was a famous story where they all threw them on the field. So maybe late seventies, maybe that was the first ever promo nent, I really don't know. I don't know the answer to that. Seems like thirty for thirty on this something. My girlfriend would ask me, She's like, you talk sports, how do you not know that? And I'd be like, I don't know, how would I know? How would I know that? I'll look it up for you. You know what, A lot of times you think people know things. And then on two things. I mentioned the other to some of my buddies that are softball. When did promotional giveaways become a thing? Looked it up? 00:40:05 Speaker 4: Yeah, I searched it too. And the disco demolition night thing comes up, and from the late seventies. I don't know if that's really a promotion though, maybe. 00:40:15 Speaker 2: Bringing their disco albums to destroy, right, Yeah, there's two little fun facts that could you know? An as Colin bro doesn't he have all the answers? Please don't Rich on the come on, Danny's our best feature we got When Rich asks Colin. 00:40:33 Speaker 4: Bad enough he stole Fernando Mendoza from our show. 00:40:35 Speaker 3: You know what the worst part about this? 00:40:37 Speaker 2: When Rich does this, there's like a pause and you can't say anything or messes up the system. Yeah, it feels like it's thirty seconds. And when you ask, when you ask Colin a question on this Ai cow Herd thing, you're right. You have to pause. So here we go any time, anywhere. What's your question? That's what he says, right, something, boy, it's already come on, rich. 00:41:03 Speaker 4: This is like Prime videos. 00:41:05 Speaker 8: Technical difficulty, every play, every stat, every storyline. 00:41:08 Speaker 2: I've got it all. What do you want to know? Hey, Colin? When was the first promo night fan giveaway at a sporting event? 00:41:20 Speaker 4: Pause? 00:41:24 Speaker 8: The first real promo night giveaway? Vibe traces back to baseball doing stunts like Scrap Metal Day at the Polo Grounds in nineteen forty two. Teams were already bribing you to show up. The modern, clean version of it really takes off in the nineteen sixties with bat Day, when kids got actual Louisville sluggers. 00:41:40 Speaker 2: And yet that got a little too rowdy. 00:41:42 Speaker 8: Give fans a souvenir, and you're not just selling a ticket, you're selling an event. 00:41:46 Speaker 2: Wey I Colin. 00:41:48 Speaker 4: Yeah, giveaways went through the eighties though, when we got them as little kids. 00:41:55 Speaker 2: Oh, spots ay, that's the rally, that's the rally. You aren't you embarrassed. I would wore that. I would wear. 00:42:01 Speaker 4: That on our YouTube channel at Covino and Rich. 00:42:05 Speaker 3: Waited, did that hat come with a lifetime guarantee? 00:42:08 Speaker 2: What's that? No ass for a lifetime guarantee and highly flammable? 00:42:12 Speaker 6: Wow? 00:42:13 Speaker 2: Yeah? So anyway, you know, speaking of that trend is back all these goofy hat giveaways. 00:42:18 Speaker 4: It's the first time had a ball in his head, but not the last. 00:42:23 Speaker 2: So they got the Red Sox like cowboy hat they're giving away. I bet you the Dodgers do that brimless hat because Diaz was rocking it. You did all sorts of did the pope pat as you mentioned at the White Sox game. Have you noticed that trend Edwin Diaz and some of the Dodgers are on the like, not in the game obviously, but are wearing this. It looks dnny like the official blue Dodgers hat, but no brims, so it almost looks. 00:42:46 Speaker 3: Like, oh cap the brimless hat. And I guarantee that it's going to be if it keeps going, it'll be a promotional giveaway eventually. 00:42:53 Speaker 2: Two things too little fun facts. E said, you assume people know, you know why they call the promotional giveaways because when I get one, I just give it away. No, you save it for Christmas. Yeah, give me away to uncle Joe. Uncle Joe, Uncle Joe, I got you a brimless hat. Here you go. Here's a Hello Kitty sweatshirt. Oh thanks, two little fun facts that you said. You assume people know things, but they don't like your girlfriend. Wud be like, how do you not now? You guys grew up in Los Angeles. Well, I was Sam, you iowall, but Danny g you grew up a real. 00:43:23 Speaker 4: Yeah, rialto California. 00:43:25 Speaker 2: I said to uh one of my softball buddies because I was rocking by a Met shirt and I go, you know how the Mets got their colors? And I don't think a lot of West Coast people know, or maybe baseball fans. The Mets blue and orange is a tribute to the Dodgers and the Giants, who left New York to go West at the same time. Uh, the Mets blue is Dodger blue and the Mets orange is the San Francisco Giants orange because the Giants and the Dodgers both left and when the Mets were created, they took a little for the Dodgers fans and the Giants fans when they created the Mets. Don't click. You know you got that from ask Colin. We'll give Let me give you one more. 00:44:06 Speaker 4: I show me this. 00:44:07 Speaker 2: When people are throwing the ball around the infield, what's the progression around like around the morne? Uh? 00:44:14 Speaker 3: Like a base, third to second, second to short? 00:44:18 Speaker 2: And why do they leave out the first base when when they throw the ball around the infield. 00:44:23 Speaker 3: As Colin, no, I know, but ahead, I know you want the glory. 00:44:28 Speaker 2: Yeah, I know everything, ask rich David. I know everything, ask me. But but when people, you know, strike out third base, second short, back to the picture, they leave out first base because back in the day they used to throw it around the hole infield. But when lou gerrig First got sick and towards the end of lou Garrick's career, to take any unnecessary pressure off of him, they said, you don't have to throw it to lou and lou Gary played first base, so so in tribute so in tribute to lou Gary. Originally the Yankees were the first team to do it. They're like, yeah, lou doesn't need the extra unnecessary throws around the infield. Other teams in tribute to Lou Garrick started doing it, Hence the first baseman left out of the toss arounds. Hey, by the way, you dropped something what it facts? Thank you Rich Davis with the fun facts. 00:45:18 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live. 00:45:29 Speaker 3: Today we're talking romantic movies. Yeah, Love Love, Love in Basketball. 00:45:34 Speaker 2: I almost said rom coms like Rich again doesn't have to be a comedy, but it's the anniversary of Love and Basketball, a movie that everybody swears by Danny g loves I've never seen it, Rich has never seen it. Came out twenty six years ago today with a young Mike Tomlin, and it still stands up. 00:45:52 Speaker 4: Mike Tomlin, I feel like you need to put that on your revisit list because it's stands up. I saw it just last year and really good movie. 00:46:03 Speaker 2: Eighty six on Rotten Tomatoes. But yeah, Omar Epps, not Mike Tommlin, Omar Apps and and Dennis Haysburg. 00:46:13 Speaker 3: As we pointed out. 00:46:15 Speaker 4: She stands the test of time. 00:46:16 Speaker 2: Gambriel Union bets but apparently because I have obviously heard about the movie. People love this movie, loving basketball, and because it's that NBA time of the year and we were talking about Curry earlier. I hope you're enjoying the playing games. 00:46:31 Speaker 4: You know. 00:46:32 Speaker 2: We figured we'd talk about this and bring up other romantic movies that maybe you've loved. We also got to talk about tailgating this hour, so stick around. It's some NFL, in fact, a lot of NFL this hour, So we'll talk these rom coms and romantic movies and then we'll get to some NFL. 00:46:46 Speaker 4: Yeah, and which I knew you'd have a list for this topic right away. 00:46:49 Speaker 2: I'm a I'm a sucker for good rom coms. You say romantic movies, I'm not gonna get down with that because to me, it's like, what's a romantic movie other than the Notebook. We've all watched a Notebook with our wife or girlfriend. But besides that, when you say, like romantic movies, I got a story about that. That's a romantic movie. And I'm about to blow your mind. Okay, by the way, you know the weather girl you've been drooling over all morning, and I just said, who's the good looking weather girl. I'm not up at this hour usually Rich. I haven't seen Rich get that up and close and personal with the TV since Tom Brady won a world super Bowl. So I'm fascinated by Tom Brady. Brianna Ruffalo. I found out just now that she's married to Josh Lucas. Oh, who's in a great rom com. It sort of ties together, like it's one of Rich's favorites. Thank you, Iowa Sam Sam goes, you know who connection you married to? And I'm like, no, who he goes, actor Josh Lucas. I'm like the guy I always confused for McConaughey, Matthew McConaughey. 00:47:47 Speaker 5: He looks like Will Fortey a little bit. Yeah, you know, I'm sorry, think not Will for not Will Forte, Will Arnette. 00:47:53 Speaker 2: He's in a few of Rich's favorites because I know Rich talks about Josh Lucas a lot. Oh, Josh Lucas was in I believe Sweet Home Alabama. 00:48:02 Speaker 3: Or was it McConaughey. 00:48:03 Speaker 2: But but that's I don't get it, like if you're too macho to enjoy like Sweet Home Alabama or it's not about being too MUCHU all time. Sometimes these things really just don't resonate with you because. 00:48:15 Speaker 4: They're too some of them are too corny, rich, too cheesy. Subscribe you and you're a Hallmark Channel guy. 00:48:21 Speaker 2: Though, But you guys Rich talks about my best friend's wedding and I want to bang my head through the wall. It's a good movie, He's like, you know, the good movie. I'm a good movie. You got the worst standards ever. Well, guess what the difference between Kvino and I is? On like Apple TV, I watch Ted Lasso shrinking. Covino's like I watched the god Zula movie with the show whatever it is, Monarch, Monarch, Legacy of Monsters. Man Kurt Russell bro Well, we're discut from different. It doesn't mean I don't like any romantic movies, right, So Danny, she already said it, no romantic movies. What do you mean? That is what it is? 00:48:52 Speaker 4: That's the whole category. 00:48:54 Speaker 2: Do you think Love and Basketball is a comedy? Rom com means you know that short for a romantic comedy, right, But you know that all comedies romantic drama. 00:49:05 Speaker 3: But this romantic movies is what we're saying. 00:49:07 Speaker 4: You know, Sam even made a good point off the air. He was saying that a lot of sports movies have an underlying romance in the movie. Like The Natural, almost all movies have a at least one romantic subplot. 00:49:20 Speaker 3: Rocky is the definition of that. He always said, It's just actually a love story, absolutely, because Rocky is a love story. 00:49:27 Speaker 2: His love for Adrian is that same storyline. And you know, you could say, I'm not saying it's a romantic movie, but again, you're right. Every sports movie. What was one of the underlying plot lines of even Major League? Old School? Jake Taylor, you know, played in the Mexican League, and then he remember he falls in love with the girl he knew back in the day. And then what happens in the final scene of Major League. He sees her in the crowd and she holds up her hands, she no longer has the ring on from the dude she was with, and they kiss and I cried back, Dude, I remember, I had a a townhouse Union, New Jersey, That's where I'm from, and I live with my buddy Barnando. His name was Barry, but he was always trying to bring his Panic chicks back to the house, so he called him Barnando. Yeah, he got really thin sideburns, and he's like, I'm Barnando. He tried to change his whole image just to attract, you know, beautiful the young ladies. 00:50:18 Speaker 3: His name is Barry, but they called him Bando. 00:50:20 Speaker 2: Just you know, there was a phase, Sam where our friend Barry started acting He's Italian, but he started acting more Latino when he wasn't. And also I remember one time we went back to your place. We're all having drinks. Well I was going back to Covinos and Barry was there just hanging with these two hot Puerto Rican girls. Like he's like, I'm Barnando now yeah, oh hey, I mean Barnandoo. So anyway, Barnando and I we lived together at this one point. And how we didn't know about this is one of the knights that he didn't bring home these you know, Puerto Rican girls. We didn't know what the notebook was, Danny g It just happened to be on or we happen to get it or I don't know. I had it on DVD or whatever and put it on. Yes, you know, seems like a decent movie. And Rachel McAdams was hot, dude. She was a smack show back then. For sure, right, Gosslin cool whatever? I mean, I had an idea, but I didn't know what it was about. Fast forward man, Me and Barnando were sitting there all tearing up like two. 00:51:30 Speaker 3: Losers, pretending like, yeah, this never happened. 00:51:34 Speaker 2: I always not talk about this. Here I am all these years later on national radio in for DP telling the story. But yeah, that's maybe why you stay away from somebody these movies because they're heart tuggers, and you got to be in a mood form, right, And to prove that, ask me the last time I watched The Notebook, it was with Barnando in the early two thousands at my townhouse that I no longer own for which feels like a lifetime ago. Right. 00:51:59 Speaker 3: So I think that's really why a lot of guys stay away from things like this, because it gets too emotional. Sometimes it catches you off guard, like what the heck am I watching here? 00:52:09 Speaker 2: Here, I'm all welling up, like I'm pussing boots, crying with my body's like. 00:52:12 Speaker 4: A straight up romance movie. The rom coms that Rich are talking about sometimes have dumb plots and you know, storylines like Rich never been kissed? Isn't that the one where she goes back to the true Barrymore is like a grown up and she goes back to school. I'm not putting that has an affair with the teacher. 00:52:28 Speaker 7: You know. 00:52:28 Speaker 2: When it comes to these I think Drew Barrymore is on a few of the ones that I tolerate. Like, you know, if you want to throw the wedding singer in there, that he's one of the best wedding singer, would you, I mean, it's but it's one of the best fifty first dates. I mean, that's what I thought you were gonna say, fifty first dates. 00:52:43 Speaker 3: Wedding scene. 00:52:44 Speaker 2: You picture Sean Aston in that mess shirt. That's a good one too, though. Yeah it is. 00:52:49 Speaker 3: So we're taking your phone calls. This is where we get you involved. We set you up. 00:52:53 Speaker 2: Loving Basketball came out on this day in the year two thousand. So other romantic comedy, these romantic movies that you tolerate. Even the toughest guy says, yeah, that's a good one, and it's sort of a guilty pleasure, and that doesn't have to be you don't have to be guilty about it. I find nothing guilty about these movies because I love them all. If You're an exception. Rich loves Oh can I do? I have to say it, but one of the worst movies ever. Rich was like, you gotta watch it. And I watched it and I wanted to I wanted to punch myself in the nerds after watching this movie. And he talks about it once a year every year. 00:53:33 Speaker 4: Oh, I know what's coming, and it makes me. 00:53:35 Speaker 2: Want to vomit. You mean you mean the best Christmas movie there is. 00:53:39 Speaker 3: Yeah, I almost like, it's not a Christmas movie. 00:53:44 Speaker 2: It's the worst movie. He tries to tells me it's the greatest Christmas movie, and I'm like, it's the worst. It's not a Christmas movie. And it's the whole point of the movie. Is that count out to Christmas? You ask clowns and and and that movie is called love actually, and it's the weakest thing I've ever seen. 00:53:58 Speaker 3: But I know that Rich isn't alone. 00:54:00 Speaker 2: There's a whole crew of idiots that think this is a great movie. Like, this is the worst movie. I don't care. Bring it out. 00:54:07 Speaker 3: That's the movie stinks to the high heavens. 00:54:09 Speaker 6: The worst. 00:54:09 Speaker 2: Nkinda give you a romantic baseball movie. I know this is right up your Alley Yankees fan. Yeah, all about the Red Sox were on fever Pitch with Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore. I thought that was a likable movie. And I'm not a big Fallon guy, but I thought that was I thought that was a good one. By the way, if I was a Red Sox fan, though, I'd feel weird about them being on the field celebrating like that. 00:54:28 Speaker 3: No, because they don't you remember. 00:54:29 Speaker 2: That they didn't earn it the whole point of the movie. This is a little backstory because I you know, Rich Davis, fun fat guy, fun fact, the movie was supposed to end with Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore falling in love, you know, realizing that they were meant for each other. But it was like, even through another disappointing Red Sox season, like love prevailed and then they had a change whole ending of the movie because the Red Sox actually won the World Series. So that was supposed to be about they were on the field celebrated film it during the act because I remember seeing it and like, what's going on? And I'm pretty sure he's a Yankees fan anyway, So that's the disrespect. Well, I got a couple more, got throw him out there. I don't want to take people's answers. I know the phones are hot, but you know what, Rich, that was a one and done. I've never seen that movie again. Yeah, I never saw it again either, but I do remember thinking, well, it's about the Red Sox that you'd probably hate it anyway. No, I no, I you know, I'm open to that. I thought that Forgetting Sarah Marshall was one of the better comedies in a long time, and I think we don't give it enough credit. Jason Siegeal, Kristen Bell, Mela Cunis had her finest, Russell Brand and Jonah Hill like that was a hell of a good movie. 00:55:44 Speaker 3: I know that sounds mean, but if you see me Lacunas in this movie and you watch it again, you're like, damn, no, creepo. It's just a fact. And Rich is right. 00:55:53 Speaker 2: For whatever reason, we I think we slept on it first time round. Maybe you liked it, Rich, and I watched it a couple years ago, years ago, and and like, yeah, this was way funnier than Wember. We were with a bunch of friends just having drinks in that movie. Happened to be on and either it was the alcohol, the edibles or something. 00:56:10 Speaker 3: But and it's a love story based on a true story. 00:56:11 Speaker 2: We were all cracking up. 00:56:13 Speaker 5: Isn't there full frontal nudity in that movie? 00:56:15 Speaker 2: Jason Siegal's hug? 00:56:17 Speaker 5: That is crazy? Also doesn't he say this in the moviemare Yes? 00:56:22 Speaker 2: That's where I got that from? Now Cavino has missed all of these I don't know how, probably because he's such a tough Jersey guy, And his answer would probably be I was out dating or getting tail or. I was too busy being a sports hero. He missed all the Tom Hanks, Sleepless in Seattle, You've got Mail, all those all those great Tom Hanks. How do you expect those movies to resonate with the nineties kid who came up watching Clockers and good Fellas And you can't appreciate you can't appreciate Scarface on DVD because gang movies were a big part of that time period. So you tell me you can't. Let you tell me you can't like good Fellas and You've got and I can't. I'm saying I was a kid that leaned into those movies. So Sleepless in Seattle was like, not, that was like my girlfriend's movie. 00:57:09 Speaker 3: I'm not watching. 00:57:09 Speaker 2: Telling me that you can't like all those movies, that's like saying you can't like a Black Jake, White Jack Agent chick. We all say that's immaturity, and that's fine. I'll take that raging. Yeah, I was leaning into that. I needed some American history works. You make me. I didn't have time for you got Mail that time. I can't I can't roll but hold on, now, I would watch it if I can't roll my eyes enough at you, dude. That's just the honest truth. Do you sound like a nerd to me? But the nerd yes, you're watching. You're watching You've Got Mail, And I'm like, bro, let's watch blood in blood Out? And you're like, no, how about Tom Hanks. I'm like, how about blood in blood Out? Okay, So you know, see, like my I was just in a different place. Then, dude, you really took the Voto local for everything serious I did. But it was then then then, Now, of course I would watch that. I would yeah a little. Yeah, of course, testosterone is not as high. 00:58:02 Speaker 4: You know. One of the first ones I remember as a kid, the Princess Bride. Yeah, like you think about it, that's not obviously essential. Do you know that you tell you I've never seen it. I'm you've never saw the Princess Bride. 00:58:14 Speaker 3: I mean I know who's in it, and dude, I have to do something about Andre the Giant today for the History Channel, So I'm very well aware. 00:58:21 Speaker 2: Do you know? Do you know? Do you know that Andre the Giant story from Princess Bride? 00:58:26 Speaker 3: Yes with Rob Reiner. 00:58:28 Speaker 2: Sorry, yes it was Robert the late Rob Reiner. I totally forgot. I forgot that was terrible Billy Crystal, Rob Reiner and Billy Crystal. There's a story that during the filming of Princess Bride. I gotta get the exact number. But I under the tank and I've seen clips and I know the movie. I just never have seen the whole thing. 00:58:49 Speaker 4: Well you got, I got homework, like late eighties, love love It, Loving basketballs on your list now and you come on the Princess Bride. You gotta watch it from start to stop. 00:58:58 Speaker 5: That was always the movie when we were taking like a you know, I was in show choir, so we would bust to different venues and stuff, and we always were like we watched that movie because that was like, you know, kid. 00:59:07 Speaker 3: My girlfriend said the same thing, Sam. 00:59:08 Speaker 2: She said, like if there was like a rainy day at school and they couldn't go out for recess or whatever, that was like the movie or like if the matter was direct. Yeah, she said the same thing Princess rod Yeah. And that's also again ninety three percent on Rotten Tomatoes. I mean, people love nineteen eighty seven. You know who narrate it? No Colombo, Peter Fauk. 00:59:28 Speaker 5: Was right, was telling Fred Savage's grandfather that was I mean, that's his narration alone. Where was Billy Crystal in that movie? 00:59:35 Speaker 3: He was like the like the little Goblin guy or something that way. 00:59:38 Speaker 2: Okay, so the story goes during the filming of Princess Bride, Andre the Giant had a record breaking sixteen second long fart that cleared the set and it's like a legendary story where Andre when you think of how long sixteen seconds is and then he said something like sorry, like sorry it was in this big Andre the Giant bulls sixteen seconds. How long sixteen seconds is? It's a long ast time. A young Robin Right is in that movie. And by the way, Andre the Giant was so you know, done at that point in his life, like he had no strength. He was so injured and hurt and everything that they actually he couldn't even catch her in the moment as the story goes, you know that scene where she's falling from the sky, she had to be like dropped down on cables because he wasn't even strong enough to lift her at that point. But the Lovable Giant Also that dude from Liar Liars in it? Right, isn't that the dude from Liar Liar Carrie carry l is Elwis wall I hear great things about it, but I never saw it, So you know, I'm not saying it's the weakest movie. I'm just saying I never saw it, all right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. I do this every Thursday on our show. We're in for Dan Patrick. Let's get everybody involved. Rich I'm gonna throw you one more and then we'll go straight to the phones. He was, I believe, a sports agent in the movie, and I thought it was really funny. How to lose a guy in ten days? Kate Hudson, you're gonna see Terry mcwuah. Yeah, Jerry McGuire's going to but which is also kind of he was a sports marketing guy, That's what it was. But Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson both playing like dating games with each other, and like his name was Ben and Benny boo Bennie boo boo boo, Like there was everything about that movie I thought was like fun. I thought that was a good movie. Which one how to Lose a guy in ten Days? In the same vein also never you've never seen how to lose a guy in ten days? That might have Dude, I don't know which what did you have a question? I'm telling you, bro, No, it didn't resonate with young me. Hey, just listen to me one second. I won't go to the phones. I can't understand what What did you watch with girlfriends? Gang movies? You made your gun? I got some poison for the spider, but for tomorrow, I see tomorrow. Only where'd you get that black guy? Give me some showing shown That sounds like you must have been you think your big time, I'll show you big time? Come on, bro, can I also mention another movie? But I was saying, I'm just baffled. Because I'm thinking, like in the nineties and two thousands, when I was in high school, in college and in my labor. 01:02:21 Speaker 3: It's like it just wasn't. I'm not saying that these are bad movies. 01:02:24 Speaker 2: You'll see. I'm a grown up now. I'm with you. 01:02:26 Speaker 3: Let's watch them, dude. 01:02:27 Speaker 2: But what I'm saying is, but you know what, You're just as bad. Why won't you watch Bloody and blood Out? I watched Nah, you never saw cockers be white on the outside, but I'm brown on the inside. Through the moone, I've seen blood and blood Out. But I will say this, I can't imagine you being a guy in your teens and twenties dating, having a girl over to watch a movie, going a blockbuster. You you made girls watch your gang movies? Yeah, dude, yeah back then. Yeah, that was the worst I really was. I'll admit it. You're selfish. 01:02:54 Speaker 3: Why do you think I was single all the time. 01:02:57 Speaker 2: It's for real. 01:02:57 Speaker 5: We're gonna watch Saving Private Ryan. 01:03:00 Speaker 2: What do you geez? Let's go to the phones in for Dan, Patrick, Cavit, and Rich What rom coms and romantic movies as a grown man do you vouch for? 01:03:10 Speaker 4: Let's start in Las Vegas with Trip. 01:03:11 Speaker 3: It's Trap Trip in Vegas. 01:03:15 Speaker 9: Good morning, gentlemen, All to day. 01:03:16 Speaker 2: Brother. 01:03:17 Speaker 9: Hey, I can't believe Rich didn't say broke Back Mountain. But anyway, uh, that's romance. 01:03:22 Speaker 5: I saw a movie in theaters with my mom pulled up. 01:03:35 Speaker 2: Oh what would ever bring Ia Sam and his mom to Broke Back Man? 01:03:40 Speaker 5: I think my mom was like, I want to see this movie. You're coming with me. It was a matinee and so yeah, it's a good movie. I mean, you know, it awkward as hell. It's like one scene that was pretty awkward. 01:03:52 Speaker 2: But I'm just saying, like, I can't imagine. 01:03:54 Speaker 5: It's actually a very sad, tragic film. 01:03:56 Speaker 4: I've never seen it. 01:03:57 Speaker 2: I've never seen it. I mean I would watch it. 01:03:59 Speaker 5: I was like, I didn't know what it was about. My mom was like, you gotta come with me. 01:04:02 Speaker 4: So, you know. Will Ferrell was on the DP Show last Friday and he said that he passed up the role in that movie of which character. Well, Sam, I don't think he was being serious. 01:04:13 Speaker 2: Oh okay. I was like, well, okay, the guy that makes sense coming from Will Ferrell, the top I don't know. 01:04:20 Speaker 4: All right, Back to Trip, both Cowboys, Trip had a couple of movies. There you are, I got. 01:04:27 Speaker 9: A couple, So we'll go When Harry met Sally, Crazy Stupid Love. And then one of my favorites is Return to Me with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver, where his wife dies and then he donates the heart to a girl and it's her and he doesn't know it's her, and he's kind of fall in love. It's a really good romantic comedy that. 01:04:44 Speaker 4: Sounds sounds complicated. 01:04:46 Speaker 2: Honestly, it sounds like really emotional. I don't know if I can handle that. 01:04:49 Speaker 3: It is there some good ones. Hey, you know what, you know what? I saw this somehow. 01:04:53 Speaker 2: I probably probably to a piece of Girlfriend night because it's nineteen ninety five, right, so it was probably like do you I go see a Walk in the Clouds and I was like, wow, that was a miserable movie. She's like Kean News in it. I'm like, all right, he's kind of cool, I guess. And I remember seeing that movie. I remember liking it a little bit. And let's go to Florida Fort Myers. Not a whole lot I could add to this conversation. Honestly, this is a rough one. This is a rough conversation for such a badass Steve Cavino. 01:05:23 Speaker 3: As far as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster. 01:05:26 Speaker 2: You should have walked in the Clouds. 01:05:27 Speaker 5: Yes, and there's another one called a Walk to Remember, which is another romance dramaeda. 01:05:32 Speaker 2: That's what Mandy Moore? Right and Moore? 01:05:34 Speaker 6: No? 01:05:34 Speaker 2: What was the other one? What was that goofy one where Matthew Perry's in the Mexican family. All of a sudden, I saw that one too, you know what I'm talking about. Of course I remember seeing as few and far between, but I saw that one. 01:05:46 Speaker 4: Rich. 01:05:47 Speaker 2: I'm just trying to relate, dude, trying to relate to you, bro, Leave me alone, all right? 01:05:52 Speaker 3: Back to the phones eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. 01:05:54 Speaker 2: Because Love and Basketball came out today, twenty twenty six years ago. Other romantic movies or comedies that that you liked. 01:06:03 Speaker 4: All right, let's go to Forte. 01:06:04 Speaker 3: Even the toughest guy has to admit was good. 01:06:07 Speaker 4: Scott. Hey, what's up Scott? 01:06:10 Speaker 6: Hey? Guys? Good morning? 01:06:11 Speaker 2: What's up? 01:06:12 Speaker 4: Brother? 01:06:13 Speaker 6: Hey. Also, the first thing I'm gonna say is, for anybody that has not seen The Princess Bride is it's kind of like somebody who's in the food service industry that's never watched Waiting. 01:06:25 Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I like Waiting. I worked at Bennegan's, so that resonated. 01:06:29 Speaker 4: By the way fools rush in. 01:06:30 Speaker 2: I just remembered, Yeah, fool with Matthew Perry. I saw that a few times. You know, I've seen some of them. But again, I was a bonehead kid from Jersey. You think I like that stuff. 01:06:41 Speaker 3: I did not. 01:06:42 Speaker 2: Now I'm sure I would like it and appreciate it a lot more, So I'm open to all this. Thanks. I was just a rom coms and romantic movies were part of like what you watched with girls when you were trying to like, yeah, let's rent the movie and like, you know, trying to get it on you, like, let's rent the movie a blockbuster back in the day, or. 01:06:58 Speaker 3: Yeah, rich Street. 01:07:00 Speaker 2: I saw the beginning of a lot of these movies, the. 01:07:03 Speaker 4: Original Netflix and Chilly Scott Baron Fort Myers wasn't then. He had a couple of movies to give it out, buddy. 01:07:09 Speaker 6: All right, So first one, we've got Happy Gilmore. 01:07:13 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh Virginia, Oh yeah, okay. 01:07:20 Speaker 6: The second one, you guys already said it. But Jerry maguire has the classic romance in there between Cuba Gooding Junior and Tom Cruise. 01:07:31 Speaker 2: And reneese Elger. You had me at hello and some great football season you had me. Yeah, by the way, you had me at hello was a famous line. He does that whole romantic speech. 01:07:40 Speaker 4: For Renee Andel Chesney turned it into a song. 01:07:43 Speaker 2: So you'll get that. 01:07:44 Speaker 4: All right, Let's go to Dayton, Ohio. 01:07:46 Speaker 2: Barry Hey, Barry, Hey, Barry, can I call you Borronando? Yeah, Hi, Barry. 01:07:53 Speaker 4: How we doing? 01:07:54 Speaker 10: We got one from twenty thirteen, kind of on on the musical side of again again. I don't know if you guys heard of it. Kind of an underrated, sneaky cast. Kira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Adam. 01:08:11 Speaker 2: That's a good, good cast right there. 01:08:13 Speaker 5: That holds up at eighty three percent on Rotten Potatoes. 01:08:15 Speaker 3: Which was the name of that one. 01:08:16 Speaker 8: Again. 01:08:16 Speaker 3: See I'm taking. 01:08:17 Speaker 2: Note again again. 01:08:18 Speaker 3: I'm trying again, begin again, begin again. 01:08:21 Speaker 5: I'm looking at some of these late nineties, early two thousands scores on Rotten Tomatoes. They do not hold up well. This movie does. 01:08:27 Speaker 2: I think a lot of people you said it earlier Cavino, But Wedding Singer has got to be in everyone's top five, right, I think so. I mean, because it's just such a great movie, but it is a a movie of romance. 01:08:39 Speaker 4: I got one from two thousand and seven in it Julia Gulia watched it countless times. Knocked up seth Rogen, oh yeah, and of course the famous stories of Catherine Heigelberna a nightmare on that set. 01:08:51 Speaker 2: I've absolutely seen that one I got, I got, I got a few that I've watched with the wife of your Some of these I feel like I watched. I feel like, I mean not to discredit my wife, but I feel like there was a time where you weren't just streaming shows on Netflix and HBO and Paramount and you know, Hulu, where like a big part of the culture was girlfriend or girls you were dating. You'd go rent the movie. And I feel like so many of these movies I oh, my wife aint listening remind me of other women I dated, because that was the lifestyle that was, you rent the movie on a Friday night with a girl you're dating. No move us, you know, to move us back then if your girlfriend had like a little pain in his nose picking brother. You rent them a video game just to get him out of your face? Get out of my face? How about this? You know what else keeps coming up? La La Land twenty sixteen. I've see as I got older, I'll hear up with three goodies. We'll take your feedback next. Then I want to get to a bunch of NFL. There there's two NFL stories, actually two NFL stories and one story about soccer and tailgating that has people up in arms. Uh all that man, arms man? Let me let me throw three at the proposal with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. Have you seen that one? No, of course nope. Thirteen going on thirty with a very fun Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. I think I've seen that one, and a really good one with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. Just like Heaven where She's like a ghost? 01:10:32 Speaker 5: Was Mark Ruffalo Andaughey, They were in all of these Mark Ruffle, You like Brianna Ruffalo. 01:10:39 Speaker 2: I don't like anyone ruff I'm a fan Ruffalo
