And this episode, What's Up, guys, Welcome to Dinner with
the Healers. My name is Eric, and with me as
always are my lovely wife Amanda. Hi, guys, my beautiful
daughter Stella Hi, and my super handsome son Henry.

In this episode, we are rewatching season one, episode twenty six,
The Beach and talking about how we feel about it
now three years later after we watched it the first time,
and it is going to be super fun.

Speaking of things that are awesome, we just got done
rewatching the beach bit.
Cage.
Henry, could you tell us what was going on at
the beginning of this episode.
At the beginning of the episode, we can see Blue
BEINGO and Bandit all on a skateboard rolling up to
the beach. They're all excited, yelling beach and then Blue
looks back and says, look at Mom all the way
back there. She's all lonely, and Bannett said sometimes Mom
likes walking by herself and Bluey asked why and band said,
I don't know. And then we can see them setting
up on the beach.
Yeah, they are set for a big old day at
the beach. When they were on the skateboard, Henry, were
they standing up righting it?
No, they're all just sitting down on it. Yeah.
That's probably much safer if you're going to have all
three of them on there.
Yeah, I think that is way safer than having all
of them stand up.
We see them setting up and they have some pretty
cool stuff with them. Stella, what are they doing.
They set up a tent to shade them from the sun.
They pulled their towels and everything, and they were playing
in the waves where Banda and Chili were each one
onto a kid and every time a wave would come up,
they'd lift them up really high and then put them
back down.
It seemed like that was pretty fun.
Yeah, I did.
We saw Chili. It looked like she was taking a
nap in the sun. Amanda, would you do that on
the beach?
Absolutely? I would do that.
We had to wake Amanda up to come and record
this podcast. Chili decides she is going to go for
a walk along the beach by herself, and Bluie was
kind of confused about that. Amanda, what did she tell her?
Blouie asked mom why she likes to go for walks
by herself, and Mom answered her with just because little Mermaid.
And off she went. Now, why did she call Blue
little mermaid?
Because they were playing in the sand and Bingo was
making Blue into a mermaid by piling the sand up
on her legs and she had like the little mermaid
design on her tail.
Henry Blue finds something that's pretty interesting. What is it?
She found a shell and it did look pretty cool.
After Blue found the show, she wanted to go show mom,
but Mom was all the way out there, so she asked, Bandit,
it feels okay if she went all the way out
there by herself and Banit said, yep, you can go
out there. I'll keep an eye on you.
Yeah, it seemed pretty far. That would be a brave
thing for a kid. That little mom was just a
speck on the horizon. You could just see her orange hat.
Bingo asked, Blooie, how are you going to walk if
you have a mermaid tail? Stella? What was their solution?
Their solution was that Bingo was going to be King
Neptune and she would let Bluuie have legs.
Yep, give the mermaid some legs. Bluie gets a look,
and now she's worried that Mom is too far away.
But what advice does King Neptune give her.
King Neptune tells her that she should just follow her
footsteps in the sand.
Yeah, that won't be so bad. She can follow right
behind mom because she can see her footprints. A surfer
goes running by to get into the water with her surfboard.
Just as Blue is saying I'm the mermaid who got
her legs Stella. What did the surfer tell Blue?
The surfer told her that it's only for a day.
So she should enjoy them while she has them. Yep,
Blue says she will, and off she goes, but she
comes up to an obstacle. A man, what is happening?
She came up to a group of seagulls that were
rested on the sand, and she asked them if they
could please move. Well, they didn't listen to her. They
still stayed right there in their group on the sand.
So Blue had to decide what she should do. God,
can you.
Oh that's try that's that way.
Well, Blue got brave and she started to bark at
the seagulls and she chased them off, and she continued
down the beach after mom.
She was pretty proud of herself for that she was,
and she should be. That was a good big kid thing.
She was being very brave.
Yes, yeah, little kids like that when they get to
do kind of those big kid milestones. So good honor.
She's following the footsteps, but something happens Henry what is it?
Oh? Waves comes up and it washes the footprints away,
and Blue says to the wave, you cheeky wave.
Something else washed in though with the wave. What was it?
It was a.
Pippy, pippy hippy come out? Leewees?
What is a pippy anyway?
It's a mollusk.
Oh okay, I love that.
All of us, well almost all of us, got a
good laugh at Bluey saying wee wee'ze. Was there anybody
in this group right here who thought it was beneath
them to laugh at that?
Probably Stilla.
No, was there anybody in here who thought we were
ridiculous for laughing at that?
Yeah?
Yeah, okay, Henry. What does blue run into next?
She sees a little crab come out the sand, so
she decides to follow it since it's going on the
path of the footprints. And then she sees it go
back underground, and she says bye to it. And then
she turns around and sees a whole herd of crabs.
What did she call that crab?
She called it pinchy.
She did a good job of imitating them. I loved
her little sideways walk. And now she's saying, little Mermaid
got her crab legs. She's still after mom. And she
sees the orange speck of her hat, and what does
she think is going on? Henry.
She thinks that it's getting bigger than before.
So either she's going faster or Mom's on her way back,
but we can't tell. But now there's another obstacle in
the way, Henry, what is it?
There is a jellyfish just sitting right there in the
middle of the path, and Bluie sees it and decides
to grab a stick and poke it with it, and
she says, you can't sting me. Joe Fishing jumps right
over it.
Yeah, that was pretty brave of her good honor. She
comes upon a scene and I love the way they
animated it and kind of what the music did to
give you this vibe of sort of desolation, Stella. What
does she find?
She finds an abandoned castle, which is just a big
sand castle.
Yeah, and it looks all beat up.
Yeah, it does.
And in her head when she's imagining it was an
actual castle that over a long period of time has
become run down and has fallen apart, she's wondering something
about it though, Stella, what was it?
She was wondering if mermaids lived there?
Yeah, maybe the other mermaids lived there. She decided to
leave a sign. I think that she had been there, Amanda,
what did she do?
She left the stick that she picked up to poke
the jellyfish with.
She left it at the top of the castle.
Once she's back on her way, she meets somebody.
Else, Yes, she does.
She meets mister Pelican, and mister Pelican is as big
as she is. And she asked mister Pelican if he
could please move because she's still trying to get to Mom. Well,
mister Pelican doesn't seem to want to move. She turns
around to see Bandit, but he is so so far
away now that she wouldn't be able to go ask
him for help. And Mom is still too far away also,
So she tells herself, a little mermaid has got to
be brave, and she decides to walk behind the pelican.
She goes around him, she tiptoes. It's so funny because
you can see the pelican is keeping an eye on her.
You see his eyes move as well, watching Bluie. She
makes her way around mister Pelican and then she takes
back on her way again.
The pelican flew away once blue he made it around,
which man, you couldn't have just booked it out of
there before the kid went through all that, But I
think that made it extra sweet. The victory was that
much sweeter. Do you think the pelican was as scared
of Blue as Bluey was of the pelican?
Probably?
Just as she gets around the pelican, she sees mom, Henry,
what happens?
Blue's super excited to see Mom and she runs up
to her and Mom asked her, did you walk all
this way by yourself, even past the jellyfish?
Yeah? When Blue heard Mom call her name, she was
so so happy, and Chili was really impressed that Blue
had gone all that way by herself.
You got all this way by yourself and the night
pla the jellyfish, you little stuff.
Wow.
Bluie says something about her adventure, Henry, do you remember
what it was?
Louie said that she just loves walking by herself. She
just doesn't know why, but she just likes it.
A lot, like what Mom said at the beginning, right, Yeah. Yeah,
But she also mentions something else, Stella.
She mentions that it's also nice walking with her mom.
Yeah. Being brave for that long probably wore her out,
so she was glad to have some support there. And
they were holding hands and it was so sweet. And
I remember when you guys were a little how secure
you felt once we were with you and you could
hold our hands and walk with us. And that was
the episode, Henry. Did we forget anything?
Nope, I don't think so.
Well, you know what it's time for.
Did we learn anything today?
Could anyone tell us what did you learn today?
I learned that sometimes you just need to be brave,
even though you think that it might be hard. Sometimes
you just have to get something over with and then
you'll realize it it's really not that scary.
Okay, Yeah, that's really good.
I was trying to think of something for this, but
I kind of really think of it first. But well,
I think Stolla said that's a really good answer. Yes,
I agree, that was a really good answer, Stella. Sometimes
you just got to find the strength within you to
be brave. And I think something else that I learned
too is but it's okay to take off and go
for a walk on your own, and sometimes it does
feel really good. That's also nice to have the company
of those loved ones around you as well.
Yeah, I agree with both of those things. Being able
to get some time to yourself, especially as a parent,
because it's an all consuming job taking care of kids
and being able to relax and get a little elbow
room and do your own thing. Maybe spend some time
in nice quiet where you can think or just not
think about anything. Maybe go wild and watch TV with
the closed captions off, because you can finally hear all
of the dialogue. You know, those types of things that
that's okay and people need that time. But togetherness is
also pretty great.
Absolutely.
Another lesson I would say is that as a parent,
you have to give your kids opportunities to be brave
and encourage them to go do something that might make
you a little nervous. I don't know how I feel
about my kid getting that far away from me, but
giving them the push that they need to give them
a chance to have a growth, opportunity to exercise some
problem solving savvy, and also a chance to be brave,
to dig deep and do something that feels too big
for them going into, but once they're in the moment,
they realize they're super capable. As a parent, given your
kid the chance to do that can be tough.
Sometimes, I agree as a parent, it's exciting when our
kids learn to do things for themselves. But also it's
a little scary because now that they're doing things for themselves,
then they may not need you as much. So it's
a good thing and also a bad thing.
Right, Yeah, it is tough. I mean, you want your
kids to grow up and experience these things, but then
you also remember when they needed you for everything, and
that feels good to know that you are the superstar
to this kid.
Right.
But honestly, if you think about it, they're imitating you.
They're a reflection of you, of what they've learned from you. Yes,
and if you exhibit bravery and those sorts of things,
then they'll feel more comfortable.
Oh absolutely, Yeah, yeah.
But it is tough. I know, for a long time
with these two growing up, I just wanted them to
stay little. And now they can do anything. It's pretty amazing.
So they still need us though, because they are not
paying any of the bills.
Here, what do you mean, I literally pay all the bills?
Okay, Well that's a story for another time. Does anybody
have any parting thoughts about the episode.
I really liked the backgrounds and stuff in this episode,
Like I just thought all the stuff like the water
and like the ways in the ocean and everything. It
looked really good and it was really well done.
Yeah, the visual design, but also the sound design.
Yeah, the sound was also really good.
Yeah.
Dan Brumm, the brother of Joe Bram, the creator of Bluie,
was the sound designer. And it's cool if you follow
him on Instagram. He's working on another project right now
where he's out capturing recordings in the field, so to speak,
of nature sounds and environment sounds. A lot of the
stuff you hear in Bluie he recorded in Brisbane and
so it sounds like where they're from, which I think
is so cool.
That is very cool. I like that a lot.
I thought the abandoned castle was pretty cool looking. And
what you said earlier about how they made it feel
like it had a sort of abandoned feeling to it,
I thought that was very good.
Yeah, there was like a bit of despair, and I
don't mean that in a weird way. I'm just saying
they did a good job of making it look like
something that was once grand had fallen by the wayside
and was abandoned, and the music that went there really
helped make that feeling work out.
I liked this episode.
I can relate to Chili about going on to walk
by herself just to have a little bit of time
to yourself and think and everything. And I agree with Stella.
I like the colors and the sounds and everything. Also,
it was just a very, I don't know, just kind
of a relaxing episode.
Yeah, it is. There's a lot of comfort in this.
I like how you can see yourself in the parents,
but you can also see yourself in the kids because
even as grown ups, and this is a secret for
the kids and parents. I hope I'm not giving this away.
When you grow up, there are still things that you
have to be brave to confront. Going for a new
job and stuff like that, you have to be brave,
and that's an obstacle, like the pelican being in the
way and that sort of thing, and it's a different
type of obstacle, but essentially it's the same feeling, and
you have to muster up that same sense of I'm
doing it no matter what to make it through.
You're exactly right.
There's still a lot of things that as a grown
up you still have to be brave about.
And one of them is watching your kids grow up.
It came full circle. Look at that. Yep, Little Dad's
gotta be brave. Gosh, these kids are so big. Well, guys,
we think Bluuie is awesome. And speaking of things that
we think are awesome, Henry, what should we do next?

of like red sauce, it's fini. No, I mean, not
fete tini, it's alfredo sauce. And then it has betacinie
noodles in the chicken. And that'd be so good. I
want to eat that.
You seem very excited about this pizza I do.
Well, this has gone completely off the rails. So we're
ordering pizza after this, right heck yeah yeah. We got
some reviews on Apple podcast two of my favorites. One
was from someone named No No who asks about why
we're not doing the howl outs. Well, they're at the
end of the podcast now, and it does mention them
in the chapter of each show description, so you do
see how out the problem is. There's a chance they're
not going to hear this if they don't know, we've
moved them to the end. I wish we could message
them on Apple podcasts, but there's no way to do that.
But we are doing them. We're doing them right now,
