NFL Divisional Round Recap: Seahawks Look Unbeatable, Rams Survive + Can Broncos Win Without Bo Nix?

Bussin' With The Boys

On this week’s Monday NFL recap, Will Compton and Taylor Lewan break down the biggest storylines from around the league, from playoff implications to coaching drama and controversial moments.

The boys start with Super Bowl predictions before diving into Bills vs. Broncos and the ongoing Josh Allen conversation, explaining why he shouldn’t be taking all the blame for Buffalo’s situation. From there, they hit Texans vs. Patriots and debate the Brandin Cooks catch-or-no-catch that had everyone fired up.

Later, the focus shifts to Sean McDermott’s future in Buffalo, followed by breakdowns of Rams vs. Bears and 49ers vs. Seahawks as the playoff picture continues to take shape. The episode wraps with a classic Bussin’ debate on Mike Vrabel and a look ahead to the College Football National Championship.

If you love NFL recaps, playoff talk, quarterback debates, and unfiltered football conversations, this one’s for you.

00:01:15
Speaker 2: Weekend, Great weekend watching ball number one. Let's just get this out of the way. I love football.

00:01:20
Speaker 1: I love football.

00:01:21
Speaker 2: The games we get the witness outside of the Seahawks Niners, but even that one.

00:01:24
Speaker 1: Even that, it's like, you're like, good, we have one of these. You needed that because every game was touch and go, multiple overtimes. Yeah, and you get to watch Seattle just beat on a beat up forty nine ers team, right, Okay, good?

00:01:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, Seattle just being a machine of a team. They're the ones that feels like it's their super Bowl.

00:01:42
Speaker 1: To let me ask you this, we're gonna get in all the games. But if you're to look at divisional round, is there a clear cut this team's winning the Super Bowl?

00:01:49
Speaker 2: To you, I think it will be the Seahawks defeating the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

00:01:55
Speaker 1: We're very aligned in that.

00:01:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Going in, I know, going into the playoffs, it was my brain was that it's gonna be Seahawks, Seahawks Patriots or Seahawks Patriots in that Jacksonville game. But Jacksonville ended up losing to the Texans. But now that it's now that we're there, like it's Seattle, it's Seattle Patriots, Like that's the Hill.

00:02:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, Seattle. I could see it going either way in the NFC Championship game. But because of the bow Knicks news, if nobody heard bow Knicks broke an ankle second to last play of the game, last play of the game all a conspiracy. Theorists behind that Twitter doctors apparently corn to Jeremy Klumpper saying that, hey, this guy actually had a broken ankle before the game, allegedly, and they just made him play instead. He ended up getting the overtime win against the Bills. But because they have a backup quarterback in it's like, you gotta just.

00:02:44
Speaker 2: Assume imagine somebody out there right now just learning that bow Knicks is injured for people that might not know bon Knicks broke his ankle, and they're like, what bon Nicks broke in.

00:02:57
Speaker 1: You're serious, honey, I thought, do we watch the game? Yeah, we watched game. No postgame press conference.

00:03:02
Speaker 2: Only shit, he said in this group chats, Hey, do you guys hear about this? Like do you even consume any football?

00:03:09
Speaker 1: It is wild with the with the NFL playoffs due to people like tailing. I put on that Broncos Bills game the other day. I think it was Saturday afternoon. Put that one on my head. You should come watch this game. I kind of start giving her the storylines. Josh Allen, he's, you know, owing whatever and away games before these playoffs started, but all of them were to Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes except for his first the playoff game is a rookie. We start getting to it, talking about Josh, the Dick jokes, all the things. So she's starting to get invested and she's screaming at the TV. Gets her so much to where I come down for the kids to sleep last night and the Rams Bears game is on in the bedroom and she's watching the game.

00:03:44
Speaker 2: That was an electric game. Electric that Broncos Bills, game Man, Fun one, Sad one, Sad one had one, fun one Yeah, happy one.

00:03:55
Speaker 1: There's a lot of emotions that took place, a.

00:03:57
Speaker 2: Lot of emotion, a lot of emotion. I love both of those teams. It's like there are moments to whoever needed to score. I found myself rooting for that team. Yeah, just because of how it was coming down to the wire. Tough, tough day for the boy, Josh Allen, I know, incredible football player like he is, Like he is arguably, if not the best football player in the NFL. To see it go down like that, knowing he is the he is the massive reason that that team is in that position.

00:04:25
Speaker 1: He's potentially the only reason. Like there's other reasons, but he's the number one, without a doubt. Like, if you didn't have Josh Allen, we might be talking about a team that didn't make the playoffs this year.

00:04:34
Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, yeah, absolutely, he didn't he to have a game like that? What he did? Two picks, three fumbles it three to two fumbles.

00:04:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, going into half when he's holding that ball like Shady McCoy running up the field with thirteen seconds left in no timeouts, like you just got to take a knee taking knee and then the fumble quick kick that's a ten point swing. And I think the Broncos out the ball in the second half right they started the game, ended up not doing nothing with the ball. But you put yourself in a horrible mental position to have them go down score on. You know, you have thirteen seconds left, no timeouts? Am I correct and saying that, let's just assume no timeouts and you're on the twenty five yard line, like, buddy, you gotta take that knee and just get in the half.

00:05:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, and realize.

00:05:20
Speaker 1: Where you're at.

00:05:21
Speaker 2: Bonnicks are slinging it to slinging it. He was balling. I wasn't.

00:05:26
Speaker 1: He wasn't really a part of the game until the second half, Like he was getting into a multitude of different guys.

00:05:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was.

00:05:32
Speaker 1: It was heartbreaking.

00:05:34
Speaker 2: Buffalo being able to Buffalo being able to run the ball. It's a dude, I hate that bon Nicks is not in the I know everybody hates that. It sucks that bon Nicks is not in the AFC Championship because even postgame, when you really you find out that bone Nicks, which by the way, it's like what a bomb then it happened like, you know, second to last play the game, allegedly conspiracy out there, everybody arguing that no, sooner than that, and then Sean Payton's lying. But to just learn that it was a situation we didn't even witness or see or bow Knicks is celebrating doing all the things, and then Sean Payton to walk to the podium back, Hey we got some bad news, bow Knicks. He broke his ankle.

00:06:11
Speaker 1: He's done for the season. Oh, you're in the You're in the AFC Championship.

00:06:15
Speaker 2: That And a part of my brain is like, and I know that it's just not it's not the reality. It's stupid, but I'm just like, we needed the Bills just need to be in the AFC Championship.

00:06:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, I think it crossed a lot of people's minds because where you where do you put the Broncos like chances to beat the Patriots in this game?

00:06:33
Speaker 2: Now they got a shot. It's not like the Patriots. Look, it's not like the Patriots look unbeatable by any means, but hey, Stidham, Stidham's got a shot to this is this is legacy. He's got a shot to make so much money.

00:06:46
Speaker 1: He's got Nick Foles potential here. Yeah, Nick Fole drafted by the Patriots. There was a they like played a game when like I think Brady was out for a game and uh, he like had like three or four touchdowns. I think it wasn't four. Definitely wasn't four, but three touchdowns in the game like kind of diced him up a little bit. And if you think about it, the biggest question mark going to the Broncos playoffs was is the quarterback going to be able to facilitate the ball because their defense is complete, their offensive line is incredible, They're good enough on the outside perimeter, and they have two running backs that are pretty great. And now it's like bow Knicks is out, Maybe same thing happens.

00:07:19
Speaker 3: The odds for the Super Bowl winner came out this morning on FanDuel. The Seahawks sid at the leading favorite at plus one fifty, Patriots plus two twenty, Rams plus two twenty and then the Broncos plus thirteen hundred and thirteen hundred.

00:07:33
Speaker 1: Val might be worth a sprinkle, right, maybe worth a sprinkle In this state of guy he played, he was a bailer, He was a bear was he also an Auburn Tiger. He was also an o protect so this he got self a little taste of the nil transfer area cool back before it was cool, before the bags were flying. This kid was just transferred for the love of the game. Like this, he's just a mercenary for hire triots. Now he's at the Broncos sits behind bow Nick's ultimate pro. Yeah, I'm kind of getting on board because I haven't jumped on the bandwagon of the Broncos all year, and now kind of feels like, I know, I know, there's just to me. There was teams where my heart slied a little bit different with the Bills were my number one this year, followed closely by the Patriots. I wanted to see the Chargers do well. I was kind of on board with you when it came to the Chiefs. I'll tell you who I really fell in love with. It came to an abrupt end, but I kind of fell in love with the Bears.

00:08:33
Speaker 2: I thought you were gonna say the Jaguars the sneaky.

00:08:36
Speaker 1: That's I think that's my titan's brain of the fact, like, yeah, okay, good for them, let's say, hey, good for them. But then on listeners They're like, yeah, good.

00:08:43
Speaker 2: You know, yeah, what kind of shot do you think the Broncos have against the Patriots? Buddy?

00:08:47
Speaker 1: The more the more I'm kind of just talking about without looking into Stidham, I don't want to disrespect the young man. I don't hate it. Like Drake May's put the ball on the ground multiple times. I think he did it four times or five times. And this last game against the Texans completely different. I mean, still two elite defenses, but that pass rush is absolutely insane and you losees two of those.

00:09:10
Speaker 2: You see what a pass rush, like a defense like that can do to Drake May. I'm not saying the Broncos have the same elite type of pass rushers that the Texas do, but it's still a defense that is gonna be able to get after Drake right.

00:09:21
Speaker 1: Right, And like they go into the wild card game against the Jaguars, there's a handful of throws deep passes that we've all kind of like dubbed Drake May as the new best thrower of the deep pass in the NFL. As as the regular season has gone on, hitting like over seventy percent has a couple against the Jaguars, You're like, all right, nerves, I expect it to be different.

00:09:43
Speaker 4: Game.

00:09:43
Speaker 1: Miss Austin Hooper big time on one that's like, oh my god, and up Penny Henry later in the game, same route. But then you go to this game and it's like, Okay, he's under pressure quite a bit, but he is getting the ball out fast. He's being very decisive whether to run with it, go to his first two reads and then realizing we don't got that kind of time. But there's multiple throws downfield that he is missing, getting one of Kashawan Booty at the end. Beautiful catch by Booty, by the way, maybe right up A plus for him. That was absolutely impressive. Yeah, that was a But all that to be said, it's like, I think this game's a lot well, I don't know what are the odds right now, but I think the game is a lot closer than we're kind of expecting to be. When you hear, hey, this team that's going to the AFC Championship, they're missing their starting quarterback.

00:10:23
Speaker 2: Because the positive is they get to host it so they'll be at home in Denver. And again, the defense that the Broncos do have, like you watch the Patriots Texan game, like I tweeted it yesterday, like I couldn't take a piss without a turnover happening. Yeah, It's like I'm sitting there trying to squeeze one off here and that Charles like, oh, another fumble and you go out there. The way these teams are putting the ball, turning the ball over the way that the Texans were able to get after Drake May, I see, like the Broncos should be able to do something similar. And it's like, if you're the Broncos Stidham that offense, you could only need about seventeen points to win.

00:10:59
Speaker 1: Maybe maybe, but I mean, I mean, Josh, what they put thirty up on them with nobody at receiver, with James Cook who had multiple fumbles or not multiple of fumble prone running back throughout the season and had one in the game. Josh Allen had multiple, but they still put up thirty points.

00:11:15
Speaker 2: That's yeah, Josh Allen, that Bill's offense, even though they did have all those turnovers. But I'm just talking, like again, looking at what the Patriots offense did against an elite defense like the Texans, like the Broncos should be able to suffocate them a lot more than they were able to the Buffalo Bills.

00:11:30
Speaker 1: I wonder if I want to see the weather report in Denver as opposed to New England, because a lot of things I've been seeing is like, when I think about cold weather games as an offensive lignment, I'm thinking opportunity. These guys are going to be slower, They're going to be more cold than I am. That the hits hurt more, but you're like you just it feels like football team, like everyone's kind of slowed down. It's equalized for you a little bit to where I feel like as an offensilinment, I have the advantage putting it into perspective of these quarterbacks. Their hands, their bare hands are out the whole time. They don't feel their hands to see a lot more balls on the ground. The weather, which one is this? This is Denver, so forty one twenty nine, Sonny outside, it's a little bit different New England. I'm assuming we're having an overcast. We're in the teens right probably, So I just wonder if that would play a factor at all and actually helped Drake May out with holding the ball a little bit better, with the deep passes, all those things, because you see what CJ. Streutta as well, Like that ball is slipping out of his hands in New England and kind of just gives you a typic of the cat that Tom Brady being, like this dude operated in this weather. Yeah, if that is as big of a factor as I've now kind of like viewed it, because it is, it's gonna be. I think this game is gonna be so much more interesting than people think.

00:12:38
Speaker 5: Look at that Jared Stidham hasn't thrown a pass in two seasons. Loving in his career, he's thrown eight touchdowns and has had eight interceptions. Will, like we said earlier, value of.

00:12:54
Speaker 2: The optimistic part of me is again even though he hasn't thrown a pass in a couple of seasons. The way it feels like shit on Peyton, the way that they operate in house offensively with breaking down situations, what to do with the football. Here's what we're gonna do in this situation. Uh, sitting behind bow Nick's hearing all the conversations, partaking in all the conversations. You got to assume he's gonna be ready to go to some extent, it's just gonna be getting the rust off being out there in a real game. Yeah, but it doesn't seem like they're gonna have to like dumb down anything, you know what I mean.

00:13:25
Speaker 6: Do you think it hurts him that Josh McDaniels is the one who traded for him for the Raiders, who knows him very well. He started set him over Derek Carr in Las Vegas when he was head coach. You think that hurts him a little, that he kind of knows all his weaknesses.

00:13:40
Speaker 2: Probably the hurting him is just walking in and be like, Hey, this ain't gonna be no cakewalk instead of boy, this this kid can sling the rock a little bit.

00:13:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, this is gonna be the classic. You get your hands on him a couple of times, you can get a little nervous and happy feet. He'll probably have a couple of quirks like that, but it's like then you got to do it.

00:13:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, verybel right. Now, as we were talking, he is de recruiting the high of the New England Patriots, whatever image they might have in their mind that they're going to go and walk in and win this game. You ain't gonna just show up and win this game.

00:14:06
Speaker 1: You can't to show up and win.

00:14:07
Speaker 2: You can't do it?

00:14:07
Speaker 1: Can we talk about the catch that wasn't a catch that ended up being an interception on Cooks deep in the game overtime? Bills go first, they go three and out. What if they don't cross the fifty they end up punting Bill's josh On methodically kind of get on the field, get around that fifty yard line through a deep shot to Cooks, which if he makes that catch, this game is essentially over right. You get prayer, you trot Prader out there, you kick it, you win, You're in the AFC Championship and it doesn't take place. Do we think it was a catch or do we think it was for sure an interception?

00:14:40
Speaker 2: I think it was for sure an interception.

00:14:42
Speaker 1: Does anybody else in the back say no, that's a catch, because it seems like the hot topic that's taking place, Well.

00:14:50
Speaker 2: It was an interception. Yeah.

00:14:51
Speaker 6: I mean, I don't want to like sit here and argue, but like I feel like I thought it was a catch, just because what is a catch. We're still in twenty twenty six, We don't really know the fact we're still debating it is kind of crazy. Yeah, my thought would be the moment he hits the ground, he's down and then they rolled and the other guy got the ball. The slow mo makes it tough, so it's like it's not.

00:15:10
Speaker 2: Like, yeah, people going frame by frame. It's like that was such a bang bang playing and bang bang moment to where you look at the DeVante Adams one, which is something that similar. But Davante is like his feet are on the ground and he's like moving a step as he's going down to the ground to where you see he's caught the ball.

00:15:25
Speaker 1: Ye, he clearly has possession of touch and he's touched by.

00:15:29
Speaker 4: He caught it and made one or two steps before he got tackled.

00:15:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's got like a couple of guys on him as he's going to the ground. This one was just like he's Ariel. He's in the air, hitting the ground, everything going on, and the dude just comes up with the ball. Like I feel like that was the rest. I agree that they have struggled at times and made some bad calls. That second passing the pass interference calls at the end of the game. The first one felt a little ticky tacky, but okay, they got a pass interference. It seems like the Broncos are gonna win the game. But the second one, I thought bullshit. So I understand the outcry and everybody being pissed off with how the referees are calling some of these games, but that call, in particular with the interception, I do believe that it was an interception.

00:16:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if I'm too off base in this, but when I look at the playoffs and it's winner go home type of situation, guys are chasing their dreams, especially in this game with a Josh Allen and Sean Payton might be the only head coach of all time to win two multiple Super Bowls for two different teams. If you're a referee, it's got to be extremely egregious, like balls in the air, defender tackles the guy on the ground. All right, we have to throw on this.

00:16:37
Speaker 2: We have to throw the flag.

00:16:39
Speaker 1: But anything else that's like Tiki Taki hand grabbing. Maybe he's a little draped over. I think we should always edge on the side of let the boys play, let him play the game, unless it's so over the top. Think about a couple of years ago with the Eagles and the Chiefs. The holding penalty that called that clearly was a holding penalty. That's what I'm like, all Right, you gotta call that. I hated the Afs are kind of thrusting themselves within the storyline. What happened? What are you looking back and forth for?

00:17:04
Speaker 7: That was a terrible call? Are you kidding me?

00:17:07
Speaker 2: In that Super Bowl? I thought it was ticky Tach. I think that's what he's saying. That's to say, Taylor, I'm saying it was a good call. Oh No, that's ticky tag.

00:17:18
Speaker 1: Hands holding him in the jersey's way for a yard apart.

00:17:20
Speaker 2: Give the Eagles that super Bowl. That was tick ta.

00:17:24
Speaker 1: I see who I'm talking to now, Yeah, yeah, I see the two huh Birds fan chiefs hater they're now they're finding love to me.

00:17:32
Speaker 2: I I look at that.

00:17:33
Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, dude, he did. He wrapped his arm around him, he pulled the jersey. It is what it is. We in the We in the game like this and we're throwing bombs down field unless the guy's tackling him. Because there was one I think it was Spencer Brown that had like a short corner kind of tugs the guy a little bit. Josh gets the ball off. I think it was actually on the plate to cook. It might have been a different play, but that's one of me. It's like, let him play, that's all. Listen. We're kind of in the mode of we got to let these these gentle and sorted out between the grid iron, not a lot of the zebras to really dive into this whole thing. That's my thought processing this.

00:18:07
Speaker 8: I was happy to the exact point that the ole Miss final play against Miami that they did not throw a flag for p I.

00:18:15
Speaker 2: So that that moment right there there was a massive outcry the Dallas passer apperance. I do believe the Dallas pass interference with you know, just in the way that game was going. Would just love to see into the play. Let's see if ole Miss can get it done. But everybody's exploding over that not being a pass interference call, and that just happened last weekend. Then you get into these situations and you're seeing why they're you know, they're throwing flags for these passer appearance you can call them tiki tack whatever. So I the pendulum just swings every which correction. Everybody just sees the zebra stripes. They just want consistency. Yeah, so they want consistency.

00:18:50
Speaker 1: So you're looking at the semi finals for the National Championship in Arizona, and you think the NFL referees were influenced by that.

00:18:58
Speaker 2: No, No, I'm saying. I'm saying in the way I'm saying the way everybody's human mind is working to where they're so bought into this should have been a passer inference. Guy, I can't believe it was a past your afference. Hey, let him play, let him play. Then you got to kind of bind into that. And then if you're if you're watching your team get called to get something that seems a lot more ticky tacking, you're like, well, why aren't they Why are they fucking calling this? If they're not out there calling that, you know what I'm saying.

00:19:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we keep the laundry in our pockets unless it's so over the top of its like we have to do something about this. Yeah, Because if you're a was a tredivious White walks up to the referee yells in his face. Kind of honestly, to me, it was like a Kobe Basketball moment for that referee that kind of just sat there playing face and he takes the helmet throes the ground. He's just quietly, it takes like two steps and just tosses the fucking air. Give him him another penalty. I was like, this ref kind of just body bagged White a little bit, kind of body backed him a little bit. He can't be, can't be slamming your helmet on the ground. You're getting a fine too, You're gonna be headed off the cantcoon. It's it's a heartbreaking situation. I feel terrible for the Bills because I was really in the camp of, hey, we can to go to the parade. This is the perfect playoff scenario for Josh Allen and get through without having Lamar or Mahomes or Burrow. Burrow in the playoffs. This would have been amazing to see him, To see not only Josh Allen but the Bills to finally get it off, like finally figure it out and get it done.

00:20:18
Speaker 2: What do you make of everybody kind of putting the target on Josh Allen for he just can't get it done. He's the reason that the Bills lost this game, putting it kind of all on him, because again, you get to this point to where you are in the playoffs without you know, Burrow mahomes Lamar Jackson, and you just feel all the commentating going on to where they've dialed in and are going after Josh Allen for this loss.

00:20:41
Speaker 1: Yeah. I think people who are comparing Josh Allen to c J. Stroud right now of like, oh, you praise Josh Allen for how well he did, but CJ. Stroud had a similarly bad game. To me, it's not the same, Like, you're not here, You're not in the divisional round without Josh Allen. Josh Allen didn't play particularly well in this game. He missed multiple throws, he had multiple turnovers with the ball. He wasn't he didn't keep it up here. But it's that kind of savvy backyard football miss that has gotten Josh Allen to the place he's at. I think the noise is a lot louder. I think it's not I don't think it matters how loud it is to the public. I think you can see it in the press conferences. I saw a clip that someone put out of like twenty nineteen, twenty twenty one, twenty twenty, like Josh Allen in these heartbreaking last minute drives where he like gets you know, defeated, by the Mahomes and the Burrows and the and the Lamars, and it's you see him handle the press confience. He's like, yeah, it's really heartbreaking. We'll get in the offseason, we'll do whatever, and every single season it's more and more sad, to the point where we get to this twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six playoffs and he's in tears, being like, I've let my teammates down. And then it cuts right over to Dion Dawkins who hears him make that comment. He gets choked up, he starts crying about it, and a multitude of guys being like, dude, this guy's putting it all on his shoulders. It's not on him. It's not on him.

00:21:56
Speaker 2: He just as as a player watching all of those post game like reviews, you just understand as a player, like how you're able to you you witness how close this team is with each other, and you know at the end of the year when it is all over, it's gonna be a completely new team the next year because changes get made. The game is the game. There's no head coach, Yeah, new head coach now mcdermog getting fired.

00:22:15
Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys are going into that.

00:22:18
Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, but it's not like it's going to be this momentum thing that goes into the next year. You know that this is kind of a bow is on this season. I think what sucks too is when you when you look at the CJ. Stroud Josh Allen comparison in these two like heartbreaking style shitty losses, is there's never like a thought in my mind that Josh Allen is getting some type of yips or folding under pressure or this. He's just he's he's like a gamer. He's an elite quarterback who had a tough game and obviously you see the way he's reacting after the game takes it, whereas his emotions on a sleeve understands that he missed out on a huge opportunity to Whereas like when I'm watching CJ. Stroud, I'm I'm getting into the last couple drives or the last drive in that first half where he's just missing these incomplete passes, He's missing guys and you just kind of see the look on his face. It's like, oh man, this moment feels like it's on top of him. I just I never get that sense with Josh Allen to where it's like, oh, this quarterback's in the playoffs, he's gonna lose. At some point, it's more of just yeah, I don't know. I don't know how to like fully articulate it other than like, the dude is a ball of the dude's a gamer. It sucks that he goes down and loses or he lost this game, but he is the entire He is the biggest reason this team is even at that point, because again, they were a six seed going into going into the Broncos the one seed.

00:23:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with what you're saying. Befos like CJ. Stroud and Josh Allen feel very different to me. You look at Josh Allen, it's like without Josh, the Bills don't make the playoffs. They're not in contention to even win a Super Bowl. CJ. Stroud and the season that he's had a coupled with the defense that they have that has equalized and kept the Unders alive and every FanDuel Better's dream when they watch the Houston Texan step on the field, it's like, if CJ just took care of the football, we're talking about the Texans probably playing in the AFC Championship. Yeah, that's what that that's the difference is CJ was and I this is this is this sounds like way more critical than it should be, but he is more of the reason why they lost as opposed to Josh Allen. He was the reason. He like, there's reasons why they lost because of some of his play, but they would not be in the game if Josh Allen wasn't playing in the game. Does that make sense?

00:24:23
Speaker 7: The Texans were three to oh this year without c J.

00:24:25
Speaker 1: Stroud starting right and and and yeah, you get Davis Like, was it Davis Mills? Davis Mills Like he he played really well. I'm a fan of c J. Stroud. I'm a fan of like how much he loves the game, the way he operates. I think this is a perfect year for him. We'll get into that in our Jim Beams segment, but like, I think this is a year where this is you have all the delusion and the hatred in your mind to motivate you in this offseason.

00:24:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, how you can be.

00:24:50
Speaker 1: Like it's me against the world. Nobody believes me, even some of my teammates don't believe in me. But I'm still gonna go do X Y and Z.

00:24:56
Speaker 8: Yeah, I do have a good stat that I think would make Bills fans very happy, make Josh Allen very happy. The last quarterback to win a Super Bowl without a child was Ben Roethlisberger back in two thousand and six, so almost twenty years Hayley Seinfeld is pregnant. Next year he will be a father. Things are looking up for Joshua.

00:25:19
Speaker 2: Dad strength, Yeah, that dad strength, that actual little dad power that he's gonna have. And too, like even the when it goes to oh, everybody's so hard, gets so hard on Lamar Jackson when Lamar loses a playoff game. To me, it's like when Lamar gets in the playoffs. There are those games in the playoffs to where it just seems like he's playing out of character. Whereas Josh like, yeah, you can't have those turnovers. But again it's like to your point, he's the reason they're in the game and even competing there at the very end. Whereas on the Texans one, you're in the game because that defense is so elite, Like, you know, New England could have ran away with that one.

00:25:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, Like Josh Allen has created enough evidence for us to fall back on hey, like, we know you're gonna make those mistakes, but at the same time, like you're the reason why because you play this way is the reason why we always have the opportunity to essentially be a Super Bowl contender. And I just think going to the McDermott topic of conversation, like, I don't know how much I love it.

00:26:14
Speaker 2: I don't.

00:26:14
Speaker 1: I don't know if I like it at all, to be totally honest, I think if you were the ownership of the Bills, it's more on you from an ownership standpoint, because who's the GM for the Eagles against Rosen, Howie Roseman. If Howie Roseman has Josh Allen, how aggressive is he going to be in the acquiring talent to assemble around him? Probably more aggressive, Like you see the talent that he's established on the Philadelphia Eagles omens. Probably not on the SCEA right Keyon Coleman had a touchdown yesterday, but he's been he was an active of what like five or six games this year HS healthy scratch And that's just to me, It's like, is Sean McDermott the issue, who's like the CEO defensive minded guy? Because you have Joe Brady, who's approven OC who's a head coaching candidate for a lot of people. But like, if you look at the raw other than the past defense, they've got a good pass defense, They've got a great left tackle and a fast running back. Like you don't have pieces around you where it's like, Josh, we're giving you every opportunity to win right now, Josh, Josh has only a finite amount of years to go win these super bowls. You have to be extremely aggressive, max out your cap, go get the best players you possibly can so you can go win a super Bowl because you're getting to the divisional rounds and the AFC Championships with Josh Allen, imagine if you put a few pieces around him that it's like these guys not only help your team, but elevate your star player as well, who's arguably the best player in the NFL. Am I landing a plane here at all and saying that, because when it comes to McDermott's like, I understand, but I'm not watching the game with his management, his clock manage or anything like that, thinking, oh, he's not hailing the pressure of the situation of what he's supposed to do the correct way or incorrect way. I'm watching it, like it really seems like this is a team that's being lifted and Josh Allen is dragging a team along with him. And it's I sound like I'm disrespecting the players.

00:28:02
Speaker 2: I'm not.

00:28:02
Speaker 1: I'm just saying that a player of that caliber, you need players with that caliber as well, go make big swings in the trades to go get a true wide receiver one. Guys that might be a little upset with the situation there. The first person thing that comes to mind is Justin Jefferson, Like, you look at it Justin Jefferson. The season he's had, it's like the first year, eight and a half, one thousand yards, Jaj McCarthy, it's yet to be seen whether he can be the guy Like, what is your situation next year? I'm sure Justin Jefferson's agent getting is getting a call, relaying the information to him and being like, I would love to play with Josh Allen. I know I'm gonna get the ball. I'm gonna have ten targets a game. And if you get that, now you have a wide receiver one that you have to now defensively scheme for which is gonna allow the Shakirs and the Coleman's to have more one on ones, more open space, whether they're a leader or not as irrelevant because you've leveled the playing field with just adding one edition. Because your offensive line is good enough. Yeah, I think I think Brown and Dawkins are great tackles. They they're they're awesome in the middle. I'm not as familiar with, but you have kind of everything you need. So getting mcdermoan out there, you're just now adding a new wrinkle to your offseason that you don't need to add when you could go.

00:29:07
Speaker 2: In and get people right right. It's just having having other pieces because right now, when you gave him playing against the Buffalo Bills, it's all about Josh Allen, Josh Allen. It's not the defense, it's not the guys around him. Like obviously there's a level of respect because James Cook is a stud. They have those three tight ends, those those those two and three tight end sets that they utilize and build a good offensive game plan. We're playing around, but the target is always Josh Allen or if you have other guys, other guys around him to where they're winning because of other people outside of Josh Allen. It's like every time they win, it's because Josh Allen is having some incredible football.

00:29:43
Speaker 1: Game, right Yeah, and then you look at the broncos Man, you're just heartbroken for them too, heartbroken for the boy bow Knicks.

00:29:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, who you thinking? What? So you bring up another point right now that if I'm a coach who has signed with the team, So if I'm a hardball signing with the Giants, who's the Stefanski with the Falcons? Right now? I'm trying to pull a college football portal move on everybody.

00:30:08
Speaker 1: Yeah exactly.

00:30:09
Speaker 2: You're like, hey, okay, how wet is let me get out of here. Yeah, how wet is the because right now, anybody who's made any progress with any team, Hey, Titans are dialed in on these top three candidates. What is it like Naggi who else?

00:30:22
Speaker 1: Naggie DC for the Packers and uh salah.

00:30:25
Speaker 2: Yeah sala I know Brian Flores is getting He's getting a second interview with the Steelers. Every every coach on the market right now is pushing pause and telling their agent, Hey, until the Bills say I have zero shot, get me try to get me in a room with the Buffalo Bills to become their next end.

00:30:40
Speaker 1: And if the Bills like, do you just elevate internally, like Joe Brady is a massive head coaching candidate that people wanted, Yeah, do you just say, Okay, this is our guy now? But then to me, it turns into, so why we get rid of McDermott because you had the OC Like if Joe Brady is like, I'm going to leave this year's a head coaching job. I understand the you know, audition by subtrack action kind of method that takes place with Joe Brady, but if if that happens, it's like, dude, we had all the pieces.

00:31:07
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:31:07
Speaker 3: As of about five minutes ago, the Bills promoted Brandon being their GM on top of his current role to President of Football Operation. So they're saying he's going to lead the entire shirt search. So it's gonna go down on him.

00:31:19
Speaker 1: Friend of the show, the show, Yeah, yeah, I'll get it done.

00:31:25
Speaker 2: I wonder I like, right now my brain, I'm like wondering who he has like relationships with in the past, who could have this fast track to becoming the head coach.

00:31:33
Speaker 1: It's I think it's worth trying to reach out one person you reach out to immediately Mike Tomlin. No, yeah, do you reach out to my If you're the Bills, you got to reach out to Mike Tomlin.

00:31:44
Speaker 4: I think he said that he wants to like take a year off. He's like not expected to be coaching next year.

00:31:48
Speaker 2: Granted, everyone's got a plan, but there's a number for everybody.

00:31:52
Speaker 4: So but I truly do feel like he kind of wants to take a break after being with the Steelers for twenty some years.

00:31:58
Speaker 6: Did you see that Mike Tomlin meme from the week he was at his daughter's gymnastics event. She I think she is a gymnast for Georgia. And there's a picture of him and it looks like he's not tired. It's like Mike Tomlin finally got a full night's rest for the first time that pie, and that feels very fulfilled. You have to trade for Mike Tomlin, by the way, Yeah, because technically the Steelers, that's right.

00:32:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, so Buffalo would have to give up something. No, Tom Brady is already a minority owner in the Raiders. Is that not a massive conflict of interest?

00:32:31
Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, he would, he would. Yeah, if anybody can figure it out it'd be Tom. But it seems like there's just they're focused on figuring out the Raiders, like Bill Belichick to the to the Bills, because how many jobs are open right now? You got the Raiders, you get the Cardinals, you got the Titans, Steelers, Steelers, Ravens, Cleveland, Bill's Cleveland, Miami, Yeah, Miami.

00:33:01
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:33:01
Speaker 1: And that's another reason all for everything you just listed all these head coaching Yeah, you guys, Tights are screwed. We're screwed in a big way because now everyone's like, now turn their attention. This is the meme with the guy holding hands with the girl looking back at the other girl, Like that's what's happening with the Bills. But all the head coaching vacancies that are taking place, coupled with there's like three or four names if you're the Bills, like why make this move now?

00:33:26
Speaker 2: Yeah? Because it does not feel like a hot coaching carousel, right.

00:33:32
Speaker 1: Like Ben Johnson out there by the way.

00:33:34
Speaker 2: BENJO, That's what I mean. It's like, I wonder, like what new head coaches we're going to see because even former ones, don't you see a day ball has he signed yet?

00:33:44
Speaker 9: He interviewed for the Chefty's tweet.

00:33:48
Speaker 7: Dude, it made me so mad.

00:33:50
Speaker 2: It said.

00:33:52
Speaker 9: Brian day Ball has interviewed for the Eagles OC job, also interviewed for Titan's head coaching job. I was like, that means that Eagles OC job is more attractive than.

00:34:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah it might. McDaniel does he get another shot as the head coach? Is he going to go be a OC somewhere for a year. It's gonna be interesting to see, like what head coaches come into this new coming to these new jobs do what codinator?

00:34:19
Speaker 1: Who's calling the plays there?

00:34:21
Speaker 10: Is?

00:34:21
Speaker 1: That? That's what I want to know because.

00:34:22
Speaker 2: McDonald I feel like I feel like at Seattle, Yeah it's Kubiak. Kubiak is the offensive coordinator.

00:34:29
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think McDonald is.

00:34:32
Speaker 1: I think McDonald's is calling the play. They live in that world that Lafleur lives in where you kind of check two boxes by checking one.

00:34:38
Speaker 2: And McDermott was like a defensive minded guy. Because I'm also thinking like, do you get like a defensive minded head coach for the Buffalo Bills. I think you do. Joe Brady is staying.

00:34:45
Speaker 1: If Joe Brady stays, Yes, if Joe Brady stays you go defense.

00:34:51
Speaker 4: I think Mike. I think Mike McDaniel wouldn't be bad here in Tennessee. I think he was handcuffed a little bit with his talent at quarterback in Miami. And I think cam Ward like he has shown flash.

00:35:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that does seem like what's coming out of Miami because I was watching. I want to say it was Darren Waller interviewing with Manziel kind of breaking down the brain of Mike McDaniel and how everything's gonna go, like in game, some of the adjustments he makes in game. And it seems like players just talk highly of coach McDaniel.

00:35:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, which is very interesting because we were sitting here or we were told a lot of ways, like he's not an alpha in the room. People don't really like him though. He's losing the locker room and they pop off five of six, he's losing their job. Mike McDaniel wouldn't be a bad pick for the Titans.

00:35:34
Speaker 7: What about him as OC?

00:35:36
Speaker 6: I'm Matt Malone, I'm giving him the credit for this, But Robert sala is the head coach, Mike McDaniel's OC.

00:35:41
Speaker 2: That would be Yeah.

00:35:42
Speaker 1: Now you're operating a massive now you are now operating too much sense. And I feel like, because if there's surean just put it up. There's ten head coach of Vacancy's essentially almost a third of the entire NFL, including the Bills. You're not gonna be able to take two top head coaching ken dates, make one in O C and make one a Yeah.

00:36:03
Speaker 2: We'll get to ask Jeff Simmons who who he'd like to see.

00:36:06
Speaker 1: That's true. He comes on the bus a little peak Ski because I still think Arthur Smith for the Titans is a is a massive dub.

00:36:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he'd be. He's he's in a tough spot. It's not like he had the most successful year with the Steelers and then the resume he does have as a head coach is going to be the Falcons. Because I agree with you, it's like we've been around Art like this friend of the show, like he Art's a beast, very good player, friendly coach. I'm sure he's under a lot from his first in and Atlanta as a head coach, but had kind of a had it felt like a tough year with the Steelers because all the injuries that they had offensively and just not a whole lot of weapons and a whole lot of pieces. It's just gonna be hard for him to I feel like sell himself over some of these head coaching candidates that are in there. But I do feel like he's on that tier with all the head coaches on the on the board right now.

00:36:57
Speaker 4: What about the what about the d see from LA? I think Don Shuler.

00:37:03
Speaker 2: I know Shula has been in. He's been in a few conversations.

00:37:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, he's I think he's had like a couple of interviews. I don't know where, but he seems like he would be the real deal.

00:37:13
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:37:13
Speaker 1: I got a fun stet on Arthur Smith. So these are all the quarterbacks he's had, whether being an OC or a head coach. They're win percentage without Arthur Smith coaching them is thirty six point one. That's Tannehill, Matt Ryan, Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ritter, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers. With Arthur Smith, the seasons he had Arthur Smith, that number jumps up to fifty five point two four percent, so a twenty percent swing, almost a twenty percent swing, and then since he's left them, they dropped down to forty two percent. It's a good stat.

00:37:49
Speaker 2: It's a good stat. All I all I heard.

00:37:53
Speaker 1: Was increase because said Matt Ryan.

00:37:57
Speaker 5: You Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers Arthur a lot of games without him.

00:38:01
Speaker 1: Arthur Smith's impact on seven quarterbacks, win loss record and starts since Tannehill start on October twentieth, twenty nineteen. So this is since twenty nineteen team. So when he took over for Ryan Tannehill the game after we played the Broncos in twenty nineteen, twenty eighteen, whatever that was. That is the percentages that take place. Got a bunch more too, but.

00:38:21
Speaker 2: You know, we gotta I like to thought Arthur Smith too, just because of the history he has in the Titans organization. Can cut his teeth in here, climb the ladder here.

00:38:31
Speaker 1: He understands. Yeah, how the ownership typically works, how the city works, the fan base, he understands. I got two Titans fans in the back that have been very quiet during it. All. Though I'd love to hear what they have to say.

00:38:44
Speaker 7: I don't want Arthur Smith.

00:38:45
Speaker 3: I also think that the organization is trash.

00:38:50
Speaker 7: I don't think anyone understands them.

00:38:52
Speaker 3: I just don't think that there's enough credible things he's done since he left the Falcons, since he's been with the Steelers, that makes me want There's other people i'd want ahead of him, but I don't personally want him. I think he had his chance as a head coach with the Falcons and it didn't pan out.

00:39:09
Speaker 7: He's back as an OC. If you want to come and be OROC with.

00:39:12
Speaker 3: A solo Mike McDaniel, sure, I'll talk about that, But I don't personally want him.

00:39:17
Speaker 7: As our head coach.

00:39:19
Speaker 3: I don't think it's it's the right time for the Titans organization. So that's where I sit. But I know that you know he's a friend of the show. I'm not trying to dog him as a person, but.

00:39:27
Speaker 1: Juley bigger names out there. Yeah, here's no stat. Arthur Smith is the only offensive coordinator in modern NFL history to elevate seven different running backs to one thousand yards from a scrimmage and a seven year span. Derrick Henry, He'll he went from let me look at this real quick, fifteen hundred and forty yards Dereck Henry. In the next year twenty one hundred yards, Cordell Patterson eleven hundred yards, Tyler, Elgler, Eljier, thank you. He had seventy eleven hundred yards, b John Robinson fourteen hundred, Naja Harris, Jalen Warren twelve hundred, and Kenneth Gainwell.

00:40:05
Speaker 5: Three.

00:40:05
Speaker 2: He knows how to run the football.

00:40:06
Speaker 1: Knows how to run the football, knows how to run the footballer.

00:40:12
Speaker 6: I'll take Arthur Smith as the OC of the Eagles if he doesn't get a head coach. It sounds like a great coach to me.

00:40:17
Speaker 2: I would assume Art would be like a sought after OC like in this grousel, But it seems like he wants a second shot as a head coach. It's tough too to hold the Falcons stint against him because of the just the situation with Yeah, Mariota Ridder. Yeah, like not a whole lot of pieces. Yeah, go ahead, sir, what you.

00:40:36
Speaker 1: Got we'll compton in Taylor.

00:40:37
Speaker 2: Want.

00:40:37
Speaker 8: I want to publicly apologize to you and our listeners. The last non father to win a Super Bowl was actually Aaron Rodgers, So just want to put that out there.

00:40:45
Speaker 1: That was twenty ten Aaron Rodgers.

00:40:47
Speaker 2: And yeah, good accountability, hand up, good jobs, Aaron Rodgers.

00:40:52
Speaker 1: It's still a fun stat. Let's see what else we got here.

00:40:57
Speaker 2: We hit on a Broncos Patriots? Are we hit on Broncos Bills? Felt like we hit on Patriots Texans?

00:41:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, we can go to the NFC in a second. Let's let's let's quickly talk about it takes the off season real quick.

00:41:13
Speaker 2: We want to taste the off season.

00:41:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, for the Houston Texans, one out. We're gonna pour one out for them. Uh, it's time to taste for taste of the off season. Brought to you by Jim Beam, because when your team gives you lemons, you make Jim Beam and lemonade. Listen, if you're a Houston Texans fan out there, and I know I'm a Titans guy speaking to you right now, look at your defense. All your pieces are still there for the next year. Daniel Hunter, will Anderson Stingley in the back, all coming back allegedly. What's just Hey, it's not what's went out for the boys right now. It can be difficult when you look on the offensive side of the ball. Nico Collins gets hurt.

00:41:50
Speaker 5: C J.

00:41:51
Speaker 1: Stroud has what six interceptions or six turnovers and six quarters at one point in the last two games, and your heart is probably hurting being like, is c J. Stroud the guy right? Incredible? First year, sophomore slump, third year they won a lot, They're undefeated when he wasn't. Junior slump, junior slump. Here's what you have to go is c J. Strout is a true competitor, all right. I hate to stay. He did a great job when he was at Ahio State. True competitor. Now you have a guy with all the talent in the world who's a touch passer type of guy, who could put a nice little loft on the ball, laser in there when he needs to. He is now going to the offseason with the kill everybody mentality. He's gonna go into that thing of people don't believe in me. The fans don't, the coaching staff does, and the players don't, the ownership doesn't. Everybody is against me. Which is the best way an athlete gets better in the offseason is when he believes that no one believes in him. So I think, from a Houston Texans standpoint, you guys overachieved this year and next year with a pissed off c J. Stroud, Sky's the limit. Sky's a limit.

00:42:55
Speaker 4: Some to think about some to think about. Texans did not play like Yo Mixing didn't play it all this year. He's a study.

00:43:02
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:43:03
Speaker 4: They also did not play without Tank Dell. Yeah, also study.

00:43:07
Speaker 1: Let's talk about the Seattle Seahawks as.

00:43:10
Speaker 2: We also taste the off season. I don't want to put I don't want to put any bad juju to go ahead, but tasted the off season. Pour one out for bow Nicks and the Broncos. We don't want to touch off season and Broncos yet because they're still in the season.

00:43:26
Speaker 1: And then it's like a four and a half. I saw a sure and pull that up like that's not that's not a bad line, not a bad line. It's like Rams Bears were three and a half. That's one point more.

00:43:34
Speaker 2: Pour one out for the emotion you're feeling with bow Nicks, but the optimism. You got a shot, right, You pour one out.

00:43:40
Speaker 1: You take your gym, beam your lemonade, you mix together, and you were pissed off about the idea of bo Nicks not being there, But halfway through that delicious drink, you think to yourself, we still got a shot. And then you're you're watching Stidham highlights being like opportunity. That's all this is that you on some Baylor film.

00:43:58
Speaker 2: You just cracked the code. Yeah a nice gim beamon Lemonade in Stidham highlights to where now you're hitting the boys up and you're like fails. Everybody's sleeping on them.

00:44:07
Speaker 1: You guys being all negative in the group chat and you just send in the lean and be like, talk to me after you watch this boom and nice, because I kind of like, I have watched no film. I've watched a zero film on him. Saw clip, saw clip, handsome boy hands he saw a photo of him.

00:44:26
Speaker 2: I mean that he's real.

00:44:27
Speaker 1: I don't want to bring Nebraska into this, but I watched the UNLV quarterback. I saw one clip of him. I'm thinking, these guys they got the vibes back. Yeah, they got the vibes back. Technically, they got a starting quarterback to replace their backup quarterback. Yeah you know what I'm saying.

00:44:42
Speaker 11: Yeah right, Anthony Castellano, Castellanos, get the Calandria, get him a Canoli, set him up there, put him next to Anthony Soprano.

00:44:52
Speaker 1: We're good. And you have dude, your quarterback last year is a backup at Oregon. Now you got this kid who's fucking got the juice. Yeah, he's got the juice. You know he's got He's already got Jim Beaman lemonade. He's not giving you a limit in a season. Yeah, he's already got that. Seattle Seahawks and the forty nine er has brock Perty got to give him a round him pause, maybe a moment of silence after that. I don't know, do or Kittle heartbreak hotel? What do you got will What about pouring one.

00:45:18
Speaker 2: Out for the Chicago Bears.

00:45:21
Speaker 1: Let's pouring out for the Chicago Bears.

00:45:23
Speaker 2: And a lot of optimism going in the next year.

00:45:25
Speaker 1: Because you're like, hey, this this Caleb Williams kid. We went from kind of being like, we don't we're not We're not a fan of him. Ben Johnson and this kid aren't getting along. There's a lot of hatred taking place in camp. Earlier in the season wild Card game, Caleb Williams is wearing his high school football jersey walking.

00:45:40
Speaker 2: To the yeah yeah kids hitting.

00:45:42
Speaker 1: The Jordan's symbol against the Packers. Yeah, fourth and eight, running backwards, a yipping in the air, perfect throw. Yeah, so sick.

00:45:51
Speaker 2: I don't see how like if you're a fan of football and love watching the NFL. Like if you're not, Just like, if you're a Rams fan, you obviously want your team to win. But everybody else, I don't know how don't get a little giddy seeing the Chicago Bears take the field in the fourth quarter, Like I feel like you sit there, you see him, You're like, man, the Bear's gonna do it again? Are they gonna do it again?

00:46:08
Speaker 1: I thought they were gonna do it again. They had all the momentum in the world. They did, and then DJ Moore decided, let's take this one off.

00:46:15
Speaker 2: This is what pisses me off about. What pisses you off for Greg not coming on this show today. Oh, this is pet peeve. You're like Ben Johnson, this is this aggressive coach, go forward on fourth down. We're gonna win. Aggressive, we're gonna win. We're gonna play the way, the identity that got us here at all times. And then when you score at the end of the game, like why not go for two? Even when they won earlier in this like earlier in the season, like a month before that, they got in a similar situation, they kicked the extra point to tie it up to go into ot and beat the team. But again it's like, why aren't they going for two when you can go and just win the game right there, try to win the game right there in regulation based on this this aggressive style of coaching, like we're gonna go for it on fourth down, We're gonna do all these things. Because if you look at him being conservative kicking the extra point going into overtime, I'm also sitting back. Why not take the points throughout the game because then you're you, You're up nineteen seventeen. Yeah, because Santos. Santos hit a forty eight yard or easy, and there were there were moments work where again Caleb Williams, it was either the first drive or second drive. He throws an interception on fourth down when they turn it over, turn it over on downs they went fourth on fourth down, he kind of sails it. But that interceptions Downald Caleb Williams, he had him just dropping back normal on the pocket. This dude's got to be again, you gotta have a gun to his head when he's rolling out. That's when he makes plays. You can't just have him sit in the pocket, patt his feet and try to deliver an accurate ball, so that one sales and then the the other one would say they it was just turned over on downs, right, they just failed to convert.

00:47:44
Speaker 1: There were two for five.

00:47:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, they failed to convert two. One happened to be an interception. But if you kick those field goals and in your brain they make them extra points or field goals, that's six points right there. You're kicking a field goal at the end of the game instead of trying to go for it to get a touchdown.

00:48:00
Speaker 1: Love the thought of it being the divisional round against the Rams. You go down after that crazy touchdown and there's what thirty five seconds on the clock, twenty five seconds whatever it was, and Ben Johnson having the balls to sit there and go, you know what, We're gonna go for two and we're gonna finish the game right now. We're another result of the game right after this as opposed to going to overtime.

00:48:19
Speaker 2: That seems to be his identity in every other situation.

00:48:22
Speaker 1: Dan Campbell, would you have, bro playoffs are so different, Like it feels different, right, Like I'm watching the game last night, sitting back being like, oh my god, Like I'm feeling the pressure of this game and I'm slaying in bed shirtless.

00:48:36
Speaker 2: Just I think Campbell, I think Campbell goes, I think.

00:48:42
Speaker 1: More loose season just put on my level, like this is crazy, huh.

00:48:45
Speaker 2: I feel like feeling it.

00:48:46
Speaker 4: I feel like if Caleb Williams was like actually operating, like pinpointing the balls, not just being able to stand in the pocket and like he'll sail one every once in a while. I feel like Ben Johnson has more confidence in him, but he's so He's literally fifty fifty on his last two games.

00:49:02
Speaker 1: It's like, you don't know, but okay, gone to the head move that will just talked about two point conversion end of the game, Like that is what are you gonna do? This is he's gonna look around, There's no one gonna be there. He's gonna scramble around. He's gonna end up on the twenty five yard line, and then the coverage is.

00:49:20
Speaker 2: Gonna break down.

00:49:22
Speaker 1: Because because when Caleb Williams has his feet set, ball up high and tight steps into it clean pocket, that ball's any completion pass, incomplete pass as an interception. When Caleb Williams feels the pressure of two hundred and eighty five pounds men coming down on him, that's when the boys at his best are you.

00:49:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, let me run backwards, Let me run backwards twenty yards before I throw this one up.

00:49:45
Speaker 1: And then reset up. And dude, when he's running the ball, he didn't he didn't do any drills at the combine. He didn't run a forty. It's kind of like when Lamar Jackson didn't do the combine because in his brain he was like, they're gonna try to move me to a skill position. I kind of feel like that with Caleb Williams bro when he is running, he's running at a different speed in the defensive lineman as he's running out of the pocket, and then he's like, oh, I can't throw the ball downfield. I don't have to run for this first down. The gear he hits is incredible.

00:50:14
Speaker 4: I think he has the most amount of plays I think over twenty miles an hour. I don't know if that's through everybody or just from quarterbacks. You gotta be, but even still.

00:50:23
Speaker 1: It is so impressive to watch. And if he could just figure out basic quarterback play, do you know what I'm saying. I like all the things that the kids are doing right now in the playgrounds where they're running up and people are saying mahomes like ruin the game because these kids.

00:50:38
Speaker 2: Are just doing this.

00:50:39
Speaker 1: He's got that down, pat, He's got all that down pat. Yeah, if he can a step up in the pocket, hit the hips and just throw.

00:50:46
Speaker 2: It his arm is unreal.

00:50:48
Speaker 1: Incredible, dude.

00:50:50
Speaker 2: And the play call too for coach Johnson at the end of the game is just you talk into Caleb Williams head set and you just say, hey, call your play right do whatever you want to do.

00:50:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna call this play for you right now, but do whatever. I'll tell you what. Here's how Ben Johnson can learn from this season to his next season as a head coach in the NFL. Every game going into the season, there needs to be like an anonymous letter at his desk, like threatening his family or there's some sort of attack that's gonna take place if he doesn't win the game, Like it's got to be that drat because it seems like the more pressure you put on Caleb Williams, the better he is.

00:51:23
Speaker 2: That's how that. I mean, that's been in the spot, the situations that they were in all year. Again, it's still I think about I've thought about this too. Much. I'm like, why are you not going for it on that last on that last touchdown, like going for two?

00:51:36
Speaker 1: Yeah? I thought about it then, but then even the pressure in my brain was like, oh that's too much.

00:51:41
Speaker 2: I know, but bro think about again there even if it's like, yeah, Dan Campbell probably goes by Ben Johnson's is OC when this stuff has happened. Obviously they're still aggressive this year without Ben Johnson, but you get your you play this aggressive style and then all of a sudden, when you have a chance to just win the game, you go out right there on your sword if you have to. Because it's like I'm scrolling through X last night and I see Shreger talking about it, I humbly disagree with the sentiment from the halftime show. Ben Johnson's been aggressive all season on fourth down part of the Bears identity and what they are about. In this weather, a field goal attempt is not a sure thing either, be you be what got you here? And to me, it's like, go for two, go for two?

00:52:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, you sold me on it.

00:52:22
Speaker 2: And how many times are we going to see a message like this at the end of every in every postseason, where somebody's just being overly aggressive, Like, when are those teams just gonna win the Super Bowl? Yeah? Because I feel like we get those every year and now with the analytics and going for it and being aggressive on fourth down, it always ends. The season always ends with some failed attempt on fourth down not taking the points. And it's like, hey, disagree. They need to be who they are be what got them there all season long? Right, when are those teams gonna start winning the Super Bowl?

00:52:49
Speaker 1: Well, the most conservative team this weekend is still as an opportunity to win the Super Bowl. That's the Rams third and seven, right before the two minute warning, running the ball tough. You tweeted about it, Clump this morning, I forgot to dap him up. He gets in my face by not dabbing up. But the second thing he says to me is John McVay is just not gonna do the ball right there. You got Davonte Adams, you got Poka Nikola.

00:53:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, but you you just you knew going into the game first series when they showed mcveig on TV and he's got those finger fingerless gloves on him, like McVeigh, you can't be doing that, you can't be doing that. Yeah, you got the beanie on. Look, I get it, it's cold. But when you when you when you look across the field and see Ben Johnson and just he's got you know, he's got the sweatshirt on, he's got the stuff to stay warm up top of it. When he's bare hands and just a hat on, you're getting Alfred right there. I knew it was gonna be a tough day for them offensively, right when I saw McVeigh and he's holding the play call sheet and he's got his finger sticking out of those like those gloves seem like they could transition to mittens but he can't.

00:53:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, you kind of pop them over the top. Yeah, I know what you're saying. Yeah, classic nineties burglar gloves.

00:53:54
Speaker 2: I'll have to shoot him a message. Hey, we can't be having this ship next week. You gotta tape you gotta tape your fingers white. Yeah.

00:54:01
Speaker 1: Nice. Yeah, that play that third and seven pissed me off seeing that. It's like, dude, what are we what are we doing here? The whole year you've thrown the ball. You have the MVP of the league, you have Poka Nukua, Who's what the best wide receiver? We can say the best wide receiver this year. Yeah, yeah, yeah, DeVante Adams can rout up anybody in the entire world run it.

00:54:23
Speaker 2: I could believe DeVante didn't have a catch all game until late in that fourth quarter.

00:54:27
Speaker 4: Pooka only had like forty yards by fucking bet on him.

00:54:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, Bears defense really showed up over time to McVeigh.

00:54:36
Speaker 6: Those last two plays, second and third down, they threw an outside deep ball to a tight end on the right sideline and then a slot fade to the tight end, didn't target, didn't target Pooka or DeVante Adams. And then what pissed me off the most about McVeigh, thirteen seconds left in regulation, two timeouts, takes a knee.

00:54:54
Speaker 7: Goes into overtime.

00:54:55
Speaker 6: The last time a team had thirteen seconds and two timeouts to tie the game or take the lead was Kansas City Chiefs against the Bills, and they tied it.

00:55:03
Speaker 7: And then beat Josh Allen in overtime. Didn't even try to win the game in regulation.

00:55:08
Speaker 1: You're saying Sean mcvay's got a little soft.

00:55:10
Speaker 6: I think the cold weather got to him for sure. Those little fingerless gloves or whatever he got like, you could tell the cold weather.

00:55:15
Speaker 2: Sean, he's not.

00:55:16
Speaker 7: He's a good looking dude. He ain't made for the cold weather, so.

00:55:19
Speaker 2: He is a good looking dude. The offit he had on his one where he looks He's like, I look cute today.

00:55:24
Speaker 1: He put that on. He went up to one of his assistant coaches and goes, what do you think?

00:55:27
Speaker 2: And that's where that's the accountability that they have allowing him to walk out there.

00:55:33
Speaker 1: So what busted. What the boys are saying is Sean mcvay's too many yes men in his building, not enough great is what you guys are saying.

00:55:39
Speaker 4: Are you saying that? Or you is clump saying that Sean mcvay's bitch made.

00:55:44
Speaker 2: No whoa, whoa, whoa. That's kind of what I just saw a stat come out to McVeigh. He turns forty this weekend, but he is uh, he's the only coach was that like ten plus wins in the postseason, which doubles anybody else before the age of forty.

00:55:58
Speaker 6: McVeigh not bitch made, but cold weather got to him yesterday.

00:56:01
Speaker 1: Well, me Vea's headed up to Seattle next weekend. How do you feel about that?

00:56:07
Speaker 2: Tough game? Tough? It's gonna be tough to win in Seattle, the way that defense is playing, the way Walker's running the football, Sam Donald's silence in the critics, Yeah, going out there balling out.

00:56:19
Speaker 1: That is the biggest storyline to come out of that game, because the forty nine ers were dead.

00:56:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was Hey.

00:56:24
Speaker 1: Can Sam Donald not just be a good irregular season quarterback? Can he go in to the playoffs and get himself a win?

00:56:30
Speaker 2: Yeah. The optimism that the Niners had going into this game is that if they score first and put that pressure on Sam Donald, he won't be able to get it done.

00:56:39
Speaker 1: And then and then they scored seventeen points in the first.

00:56:41
Speaker 2: Quarter opening kickoff for Rashichhi. He Yeah, best acquisition during the season in the NFL.

00:56:48
Speaker 4: That play, Yeah, that play was like the fifth loudest play of all time in the NFL.

00:56:54
Speaker 1: Think about the Jews taking place man in that because that building is loud. It is so hard to play there.

00:57:00
Speaker 8: It shook that apartment building that the person was filming in.

00:57:04
Speaker 2: That viral clip.

00:57:06
Speaker 1: Structurally, that's uh, that's terrifying.

00:57:08
Speaker 2: What a great year for the NFC West. The rivalry is going on, having another divisional game for the NFC Championship, having that game against the Niners arrival, and.

00:57:18
Speaker 1: It was in front of our faces the whole time doing doing the future episode we did in the locker room. We all, I don't think any of us really thought about it until we were in there talking about the NFC West were realized, Oh, this is the best division. People aren't talking about this division enough.

00:57:32
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:57:34
Speaker 1: So yeah, I think I think the Seattle Seahawks are head of the Super Bowl.

00:57:38
Speaker 4: Could you imagine that being your apartment view?

00:57:40
Speaker 1: That'd be sick.

00:57:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be awesome. It would be awesome.

00:57:46
Speaker 1: Seattle is a dope ast city too. It's a fun city.

00:57:50
Speaker 2: The two games we've seen with Rams in Seattle, they've both been they've both been bangers.

00:57:55
Speaker 1: Last time Seattle and Rams played Clay Matthews at a fifteen late parlay. Something to think about. So whatever Clay comes with because his pick, I think the first game today he bet the under on the Bills Broncos game overhit. So that's even with the line moved what seven or eight points, So we need him to Clay's got to come with some heat this week on the locker room.

00:58:23
Speaker 2: We need him to come with a fifteen Lake. We need to tell him, Hey, you gotta you gotta build a fifteen Lake Parlay.

00:58:27
Speaker 1: From the locker room. Need it, gotta have it money line, Like, Clay, are you gonna live up to the name or you got the name nine You're just gonna live off your past successes. Oh that's the question is washed? Is Clay washed?

00:58:46
Speaker 2: I can see Clay being a fingerless glove guy La cat Man.

00:58:55
Speaker 1: That's tough for Clay Man for pouring.

00:58:57
Speaker 2: Out for them as well, pouring out for the night injured Again, I feel like they were just they were not These guys sound like I'm sitting on them, but they were kind of like a walking corpse the whole time, Like you just couldn't kill them Seattle. Finally, did I think they're just a living dead just conquering every game they stepped into.

00:59:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, it just shows how Shannon how good of a coach he use, Buddy, it was. This was the inevitably going to happen, but seeing them operate throughout the season with the injuries, Mac Jones crushing it.

00:59:28
Speaker 2: It is an incredible weekend. That was the only game where I'm just like, second half, I kind of just you know, I'm like I was moving on to do something.

00:59:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, I really had a whole lot of intention in watching that game because I just knew what was going to happen. Still hit the first half.

00:59:38
Speaker 4: I saw on Twitter that players are starting to bring up the fact of the electrical substation.

00:59:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, they're agents.

00:59:45
Speaker 4: It's like hitting up the organization, gaining traction.

00:59:51
Speaker 12: I meant that the doctor that came out going on, the doctor that came out with that first like article about it, pulled our video from the locker room of Delaney talking about how it was a thing back when he was there.

01:00:04
Speaker 4: So like, shout out.

01:00:07
Speaker 2: Us, shut out, shut up us.

01:00:12
Speaker 1: Shout at us. Yeah, man, good weekend of football.

01:00:17
Speaker 2: Who going around here? You guys? Who's your Super Bowl pick? He thinks is gonna be in the Super Bowl?

01:00:22
Speaker 4: Seahawks Patriots, and I think Seahawks win.

01:00:27
Speaker 8: Oh, Rams, Patriots, Rams win.

01:00:34
Speaker 2: I'm gonna go.

01:00:37
Speaker 6: Broncos upset the Patriots. Nice, Rams, Rams win the Super Bowl. Matt Stafford wins MVP and Super Bowls.

01:00:46
Speaker 2: I beg that matchup. Jesse retires, everybody off Rams and Broncos.

01:00:49
Speaker 1: People will be like, we're not watching. Numbers will be lower than ever I'll.

01:00:53
Speaker 9: Watch uh Seahawks and the Patriots, and I think the Seahawks get it done.

01:00:58
Speaker 7: And if the Seahawks do make the Super well, they should wear.

01:01:00
Speaker 9: Their throwback uniform because it's awesome Seahawks.

01:01:05
Speaker 7: That's a take that needs to get traction. They should wear those full.

01:01:08
Speaker 2: Time clean take.

01:01:11
Speaker 7: Arguably the best uniforms in football.

01:01:17
Speaker 3: Seahawks Patriots got the Seahawks. Would love to see would hate for my mental health to see the Patriots win, but would love to see it for verbel But I do think the Seahawks will will win it.

01:04:22
Speaker 5: Seahawks Broncos, Ernest Jones, Nicky Manwari holding it down on the Seattle defense. Maybe Nicki Minwari gets MVP. Maybe first rookie ever. Oh yeah, I got Seahawks.

01:04:36
Speaker 2: What if it goes Seahawks Patriots Patriots on the goal line, last play, Drake May throws the ball, Seattle picks it off, Minworri picks it off.

01:04:50
Speaker 1: Just same situation, in the same SAP exact situation. You who do you got? You have to Sea?

01:04:55
Speaker 2: Yeah? I got Seattle, Seattle.

01:04:57
Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Patriots Seattle. And I got the Patriot. I like the Patriots, I like the pressure. I like Rabes, Daddy Rabes getting his first Super Bowl as a head coach. Yeah, and the Titans and the Titans. All right, it's not good finalizing their head coaches, churches. It crazy.

01:05:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, it brings up a good point.

01:05:22
Speaker 1: We're looking for people for sure.

01:05:23
Speaker 2: Does Braves have to cut off his piece if they win? One hundred percent?

01:05:27
Speaker 1: One hundred percent like that is we're calling elatrosh.

01:05:30
Speaker 2: Does he fulfill his destiny if if when they win this AFC Championship game, if they win this AFC Championship game. I do think he needs to answer the question and say, yeah, I'm willing to cut my peace off to win the Super Bowl.

01:05:41
Speaker 1: Do we go to Super Bowl Media days when Mike Rabel takes the podium and ask him that question?

01:05:47
Speaker 2: A billion percent.

01:05:50
Speaker 5: Have to have to show up with some scissors.

01:05:53
Speaker 1: Right, but little tiny scissors I've come to fulfill. What we should do is if the Patriots make it, we should get like a gold pair of scissors, like in a stand that he can put in his office and a little plaque.

01:06:12
Speaker 4: What's the plaque say?

01:06:14
Speaker 1: Peaceless since twenty twenty six.

01:06:16
Speaker 2: I don't know, willing to do whatever it takes. You just have it written in a plaque with that little willing to.

01:06:21
Speaker 1: Do whatever it takes. I think that would be a gift that Braves would love forever.

01:06:24
Speaker 5: Yeah, quick, random one that was that's been going around on the internet. Which this is separate of the playoffs. But what team does Khalil Mack belong to? Raiders, Bears, are Chargers? He played four seasons with all of them. He had over thirty five sacks for.

01:06:40
Speaker 2: Each of those teams.

01:06:42
Speaker 5: He's had a bunch of total tackles, a bunch of TFLs, and a bunch of quarterback hits. But four seasons with each team, every single team he produced for who gets.

01:06:53
Speaker 4: Could be.

01:06:56
Speaker 1: Here?

01:06:56
Speaker 2: Drafted the Raiders all the high peak of everything. It feels like Raiders.

01:07:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, forty sacks with the Raiders, thirty six with the Bears, thirty six and a half with the Chargers.

01:07:06
Speaker 2: That is nuts, man.

01:07:08
Speaker 1: But he has been.

01:07:08
Speaker 7: For eight years forty sixty eight t F.

01:07:11
Speaker 2: He was on the Raiders for eight.

01:07:12
Speaker 5: Years, four years, four years for all those teams. No, no, no, they traded Max that the Raiders fell off.

01:07:27
Speaker 2: Well, that a clear space to bring you in.

01:07:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great question. I don't know the answer. That's a great question.

01:07:33
Speaker 8: I did have a if we're wrapping up, I did have a fun little tiar talk that gets y'all's personal insight on being on the sideline all right.

01:07:41
Speaker 2: At Hawk's Daddy hashtag tear talk. Every time every time I go to an NFL game, I catch myself watching the sidelines. Is it really just watching the last series and making adjustment adjustments or is there more than what the average fan sees? Funnier tense moments, differences of being a rookie versus veteran routines, secrets, great question, big question, loaded question.

01:08:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, as far as adjustments go, I feel like you're like three series in before like the offensive staff comes up to you because, Okay, this is the defense. They've tried it, they've done, they're trying to take this away. We're gonna move to X, Y and Z in the run game. Yeah, is we're gonna try in the past game.

01:08:16
Speaker 2: Very intense making adjustments on the sideline. And then once that moment's over, you get some funny moments.

01:08:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, sitting there making fun of a guy who maybe got beating to play.

01:08:27
Speaker 2: Maybe making fun of yourself.

01:08:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, how big this play?

01:08:30
Speaker 2: He's gonna show up out. God, I know, I already know it's films.

01:08:34
Speaker 1: Films will be tough on Monday and we're already We're only ten minutes into the first quarter.

01:08:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, how big a lead?

01:08:40
Speaker 8: Did do you guys need personally before you started making jokes? Or were you okay making jokes down?

01:08:46
Speaker 2: It could be a tie ball game.

01:08:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, on the line, like the last play of the game and there's a time out, somebody calls the time a Kodak time out. You're joking around a little bit. You gotta keep it loose. Yeah, Yeah, I don't envy that situation though, big on the sideline.

01:09:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, and rookie versus vet, like, as a rookie, like, it's just quiet, keep your head down.

01:09:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, rookie, you just like you don't even really know what the game plan is. You're kind of just doing what they call. As you get older, you start to understand the chess moves that are kind of being put in front of everybody. But as a rookie, you're just like, I hope we win.

01:09:23
Speaker 5: Emon Warry like runs his mouth so much. Right after the Seahawks Nigers game, he just tweets out trash.

01:09:35
Speaker 2: Ay, tonight's the game national Miami Indiana.

01:09:40
Speaker 1: You who you want?

01:09:41
Speaker 6: You?

01:09:42
Speaker 1: You're going to Indiana to win? Miami to cover.

01:09:43
Speaker 2: Still Yeah, my bet'll probably be Miami to cover. Where is it still eight and a half?

01:09:50
Speaker 6: Speaking of half their like adjustments on the sideline, Say the other team was able to like know what your adjustments were gonna be with that impact of the game, you think.

01:10:00
Speaker 2: Say that again?

01:10:03
Speaker 6: No, I was just asking a question if the if the other team was able to hack and see what your adjustments were, would that impact you?

01:10:10
Speaker 2: How would you know? A billion?

01:10:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, and then what you're doing just.

01:10:15
Speaker 2: Asking what's the angle of that question?

01:10:17
Speaker 7: Indiana's probably gonna win big against Miami. That's mine.

01:10:20
Speaker 2: That's my Listen.

01:10:22
Speaker 1: If you want to go down the tinfoil hot game like crystal Ball has gone. He's gone back to caveman times of paper and pencil. That has been an email sentence.

01:10:31
Speaker 2: We gotta think too, if that's if that's like a real thing, Like christ Ball is probably doing everything he can to where they're not in a situation like that.

01:10:38
Speaker 1: And if Chris Balls the head coach rumor like yeah, the boys, we're just going over this. We'll give you a binder with all the plays.

01:10:44
Speaker 6: The whiteboard would be sick on the sideline, break every iPad.

01:10:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, see you later. Don't even bring them on.

01:10:50
Speaker 2: Let me see here, let me let me pull a fandle and see what Taylor I have because I might do uh, because I know in Tennessee you can do like totals of rushing yards, pass yards, total yards. Might do a little parlay with the Indiana money line and then put a little something together.

01:11:06
Speaker 1: Make sure hit the group check.

01:11:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, I got I tear.

01:11:10
Speaker 1: This is Sergeant Scuba twenty two. So let me take a wild guess at what Willie C is thinking. And another day would be both of these teams.

01:11:20
Speaker 2: Is Steven Spottle. That's for sure gonna be a tweet I just throw out there later tonight.

01:11:31
Speaker 1: Lost to one of them already exactly.

01:11:34
Speaker 2: It would have beat him the second time.

01:11:36
Speaker 1: I don't think so. I mean going to the playoffs. We're like, is not even a better team than Miami right now? Clearly no, Miami just turned on in a hurry, hurry hurricane. Is a hurricane coming in Miami tonight. Let us know in the comments what you think is all right, boys, we feel good about it. Everyone's happy.

01:11:57
Speaker 2: I think I'm looking. I'm sure I'm building the parlay right now.

01:12:01
Speaker 1: Will's moved on. He's over the NFL recap. We hit it all.

01:12:07

01:12:47
Speaker 2: Oh for sure. We're both down for katan. We some katan and even risk. Like if we would play risk, I have Game of Thrones version of risk. Yeah.
