Will Compton’s MONSTER Parenting Fail, Sherman's Goof & Enjoying The Magic Years | For The Dads

Bussin' With The Boys

This week’s episode of For The Dads kicks off with chaos—Will and Sherm forgot to hit record for the first 50 minutes. But the boys bounce back and dive into everything dad-related with laughs, lessons, and a little destruction.

They start by breaking down the recording mishap, then talk fan engagement and the rise of the iconic “Papa Team 6” along with other hilarious dad community nicknames. Will shares a story from the park with his daughter and how parenting shortcuts (like saying “the monsters are coming”) can backfire. Sherm opens up about his biggest dad fail yet—losing his cool, destroying his front lawn, and going full raccoon assassin... all at 1 a.m.

The episode wraps with practical dad hacks, a survival kit breakdown, listener call-ins, and a thoughtful reflection from Sahil Bloom’s Five Types of Wealth, specifically “The Magic Years” and how to cherish them.

For The Dads is for every guy who needs a place to talk, vent, and laugh about all the insane, hilarious, and chaotic sh** (sometimes literal) that comes with being a dad.

Hosted by Will Compton–NFL Vet, creator of Bussin' With the Boys, and proud dad of two. This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing.

Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a soon-to-be dad who’s currently enjoying his last few months of uninterrupted sleep and freedom. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world.

Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way.

00:02:10
Speaker 2: I would love to say what happened.

00:02:13
Speaker 3: I owe an apology to Will Compton.

00:02:15
Speaker 1: And for people listening and watching A big deal did just go down like a huge deal, a deal where it's like, I don't know how to react right now, because we still have to record our show and we have to bring the juice and I have to bring the juice and we have to be optimistic. Yes, dude, because you're you're my mate. Dude, Yeah, you're my teammate in the squadron.

00:02:40
Speaker 3: I'm in the foxhol with you. You're in the foxhole with me, quite literally.

00:02:44
Speaker 1: And you said, and to be in the foxhole with somebody, yep, you got to know that the guy you're in the foxhole with has your back, has every angle covered, if that's their role. And I I patch you on the back and you shit in my hand.

00:03:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe you patted me on the back a little too much, but I haven't. We did the performance reviews last week, I know, and that went well. We talked about details, and we talked about structure, and we talked about my weakest point, the fine details and having it written down, having it written down, But this was something that doesn't need to be written down. This is something that does not need to be written down. It's right up there with breathing in the production world, I would say, or drinking enough water.

00:03:37
Speaker 1: Papa Team six, Moms Dads, Seeming Team six, CE Team six need to know as they're listening to this, I'm very frustrated.

00:03:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, I need to.

00:03:48
Speaker 1: Talk about my feelings. It makes me angry. I think this is health feel alone when you do behaviors like that.

00:03:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, tell them well. First off, I would love to create a safe space for Will to continue to get this off his chest, because I feel like that's the best way to deal with it, to dive right in. I forgot to hit the record button on both audio and video.

00:04:15
Speaker 1: We were recording for how long Chef Chef has a mic? By the way, Chef was the leader of Semen Team six at the moment he has a mic now being able to chime in so you don't have to hear him from far away.

00:04:28
Speaker 2: We were going about forty five minutes.

00:04:30
Speaker 3: Great job of keeping it under an hour. We were just about to keep it under an hour. It was potentially maybe the first time ever.

00:04:38
Speaker 2: We were on the lesson.

00:04:41
Speaker 3: The episode was almost done. Will was getting into his lesson and I look over at the audio and the video and I see no red light like I do now to where it's rolling.

00:04:52
Speaker 1: We recorded for forty five minutes, and it was so much fun and it was going so well, and sure him stands up and he's like grinning at chef, like pointing down.

00:05:07
Speaker 2: At the little what's that called zoom recording?

00:05:09
Speaker 1: Little zoom recorder. I look over a shom. I'm like, what's up? And he's like, I didn't hit record. So I'm like, so we didn't get anything that we just the last forty five minutes, nothing.

00:05:21
Speaker 3: Nothing chalked up to the wind. He's like, I'm so sorry, Well, dad, I just.

00:05:32
Speaker 2: If I can add it was dead silent for maybe five minutes.

00:05:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, no one spoke. That's a long time around here too, because we got a lot of talkers, especially in this room because.

00:05:42
Speaker 1: It's Friday right now. It's a Friday adviser supposed to be up watching all this ship that he was down in the shop. This is the safe space. This is this is the space that it's like, get to go have some fun, get to go have some fun with my boy.

00:05:59
Speaker 3: With your boy. That light you down. I'm the one that's I get.

00:06:04
Speaker 1: We get we play video games, but don't get to see all week. You're you're you're a bright light.

00:06:08
Speaker 3: In the shop.

00:06:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I just came in. I ship in your hand quite.

00:06:14
Speaker 1: Literally, and I'm stuck because I'm like, I have to accept this and get over it as fast as possible because we still have to record for the dads.

00:06:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, shut have that fun. Yes, we said, we still have to tell people to subscribe. We still have to read reread all the Greek comments we loved in the comments section about Papa Team six because Papa Team six is growing and we gotta tell the same story again. But that's okay because they're they're really good stories and I would love to hear it again and just say shout out. This is not getting points from Will you have recovered very well? You ten minutes ago? Is they different you right now?

00:06:54
Speaker 4: You were?

00:06:54
Speaker 3: You've recovered? How tints? How do you feel on the scale of one to ten?

00:07:00
Speaker 1: I don't know, dude, you look like a feeling what way like we're talking like good mood.

00:07:09
Speaker 3: Now, just able to go because you look like a seventh, like a high seven right now? Good? I believe it.

00:07:15
Speaker 2: Hey, he didn't hit record.

00:07:18
Speaker 3: Good the guy that you put a ton of trust in to make sure everything operates and he fails. Good?

00:07:25
Speaker 2: Good?

00:07:26
Speaker 3: Oh?

00:07:26
Speaker 1: Hey, Papa Sherm who said he was gonna show up at eight thirty and get with chef to go over details and structure and line out a process of the show so there's no mishaps.

00:07:35
Speaker 2: Shirhan didn't show up in eight thirty? What's under the show up?

00:07:38
Speaker 3: I don't know what time he showed up.

00:07:40
Speaker 2: It was like nine to ten.

00:07:41
Speaker 3: Guess what Your boy doesn't show up? Good?

00:07:44
Speaker 1: Instead, he sends you a picture of a raccoon in a cage on his roof, saying victory.

00:07:54
Speaker 2: Good good.

00:07:56
Speaker 1: He's trying his weasel way out of why he wasn't. I texted sure and back when he sent me that. I was like, great creative way of letting me know that you're not here at the shop by the time you said you'd be at the shop.

00:08:07
Speaker 2: True.

00:08:08
Speaker 3: Worst part of that is I didn't even know what time it was, to which I replied to your text, Fuck, yeah, vibes are up, man, vibes are still up. Vibes are still up. God, do you want to get into comments?

00:17:29
Speaker 1: Yes, and the highline gets active later in this episode. At the top, we usually obviously tell stories, We talk about dad losses, we talk about moments. We crack a cold one too. Yep, what are the odds? What's another segment? We got a lesson or a quote or a topic of the day that we come across and we might be leaning into to help just better ourselves as fathers, because we go through a lot of tough moments, which we'll be getting into with some of the dad losses.

00:17:54
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and also survival kid dad hack we kind of go through again not experts, I know, we said that at the top, not experts, but we do. We try and put some people on game. We try to help the dads out there.

00:18:09
Speaker 1: Full episode. Full episode there. We're gonna keep it under an hour.

00:18:12
Speaker 3: We're going to keep it under an hour. You want me to kick off dad loss? Please? All right? So you're gonna include this in the loss? Yeah, I definitely can so Dad losses. This week one, I took Scarlet on a walk with my mom. She's in town. Shout out, miss Amy, she's helping us out with Scarlet.

00:18:34
Speaker 2: She's in town.

00:18:36
Speaker 3: Right after Jill's mom, my mother in law, Lisa. Shout out. Lisa was in town for a week as well. Miss Amy loves her nighttime walks, and all she wanted to do was take her newborn granddaughter on a walk. Jill was a little hesitant. She didn't know if it was smart because of the temperature, a little hot outsides, a little hot outside. Sun was down, and I talked Jill down. I said, hey, it's okay, it'll be a short walk, huge dad loss. She had the onesie on, long sleeves covering her hands, her feet, so by the time that we got home, she truly felt like a hot potato and for like a newborn or a dad to a newborn. I have no idea what's going on when I'm feeling her temperature that hot and she's screaming like I've never heard her scream before, and it just shoots like shock waves of anxiety, worry, guilt. As you're watching her cry. It feels so painful, and it really does, especially when you're I knew for a fact that it was my fault, very similarly to me forgetting to hit the record button, but unlike me forgetting to hit the record button and being able to communicate with Will and us work through it, all she can do is cry. Yeah, And so you're like, because you're just you're holding them close, you're apologizing.

00:20:03
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, maybe you're testing a little bit. Hey, you're crying a little too hard here, Like you got to toughen up at some point.

00:20:08
Speaker 3: All you do is eat, sleep, and shit every day you get together. What are we doing, Yeah, let's create some thick skin. Like if I'm me a you know what, you step out of the road. If I'm being honest with you, you're kind of being a little litch right now. It was what you're kind of being soft and lazy. You don't do nothing throughout the day. You can't go on a little brisk walk and get a little sweat going. It was eighty one degrees outside. You know, you know where Dad does it's from That is just from Texas. Yeah, well it's one hundred and eighth degrees outside.

00:20:33
Speaker 1: You know, we don't cry over Tennessee heat. Here, I'll take you down with Texas. I'll give you something to cry about.

00:20:37
Speaker 3: Oh the humidity, it is good for your skin. What is she? Two weeks?

00:20:41
Speaker 2: Two weeks?

00:20:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, two weeks and just cooking and miss Amy's arms. And we didn't we didn't realize it until you get home and Jill said, I was beating myself up, like really bad. I was pissed off at myself and just kind of like getting quiet, not shutting down full, but just like start peddling around the house to distract myself.

00:21:03
Speaker 1: You had so much anxiety on the first recording we did before this episode, when we were recording the other episode, you had so much anxiety that you wanted to go to the emergency room.

00:21:14
Speaker 3: I did, you know, I truly in my head, I didn't go to the hospital. I was like, we gotta go to the hospital because and this was before I woke up Jill. She's a nurse are in so she was able to, you know, take care of the situation very quickly. It was like, Oh, just take off her onesie and go into the coldest room in our house and stand next to the ac man. She'll be fine, Like she's gonna be great. And in my head, oh, yeah, dude, I just wanted to do the thermometer, which that's a whole thing because it's an anal thermometer at their age, and I'm thinking in my head, Oh, my gosh, Jill's gonna be pissed off at me. Now we gotta do this. We gotta put this thing up her bombs. She's gonna be Scarlet's gonna be pissed. It's gonna be in my mom's here. Hey mom, I'm a great dad. I just you know, cooked my newborn child in the sun. But it all worked out. At the end of the day, everything was fine, and Jill said, we learned best from our losses. Love her composure in that moment, Yes, similar to yours, similar to yours. Don't do that.

00:22:15
Speaker 1: Sure, don't do that, Papa, Sure arm come on, my dad loss is going to be I'm just laughing because we're just retelling.

00:22:31
Speaker 3: My dad.

00:22:31
Speaker 1: Loss is going to be losing a verbal negotiation with your toddler. I lost a verbal battle with Rue. We usually eat dinner around six six thirty at night on this given day. It was a couple of days ago. It's around six thirty. She did a great job. I was saying it on last week's episode. Trying to get more protein going found these chicken nuggets. She loves the chicken nuggets. Loves the chicken nuggets. Don't blase at some broccoli. That'll be more of a crack a cold one situation because I found a couple good little found a nice little move when trying.

00:23:05
Speaker 2: To get your toddler to eat vegetables.

00:23:07
Speaker 1: She eats her dinner. It's around seven o'clock. That's where we go upstairs to get Scottie ready for bedtime. Start to prep Rue, like it's time to calm down. No we can't watch TV. No you know can't do this, or like just it's time to start relaxing a little bit so we can get you upstairs, get you in your pajamas, and start doing the bedtime routine. Rue wanted to go to the playground, which is new. Usually it's not like if we hit the playground.

00:23:33
Speaker 3: We usually hit the playground, like when I get home, we all go as a family and hit the playground.

00:23:37
Speaker 1: Everybody's out, especially on the nice days. It's been the hottest shit recently, so we have in the playground much. Or she'll go to the playground with the namy, like in the morning. She had already been to the playground that day, but for whatever reason, the playground was on her mind. She want to go to the playground. It's seven o'clock at night. It's seven oh six. It's seven o six and I'm sitting there. It's been a long day we've been. We were at the bus not all day, but got home probably around four thirty five o'clock. Yeah, gang out the kiddos. You're playing on the ground. Scotty's little nickname right now is scott Zilla because she goes and terar rises anything going on. She's like army crawling everywhere. It's adorable. But anything she sees on the ground she goes like it's not it's not actual playtime. Until every floor is just pulled off the shelf onto the ground. Because she just wants to pull everything down. Or she goes into Rou's room and she sees a tray a railroad track set up, she just goes right for it and just basically tears it all apart.

00:24:29
Speaker 3: Oh no, Scott, Taylas Scott tell us she's all the way.

00:24:32
Speaker 2: Grab her and dragger loving that too, gets upset.

00:24:35
Speaker 1: Oh okay, got at. Those are moments where it's like, hey, you were like this too.

00:24:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean. You're trying to tell her, but she gets pretty worked up, like Scotty's gonna get Oh no, she rubs honestly started calling her Scott's Zilla.

00:24:47
Speaker 2: No.

00:24:48
Speaker 1: So charl will be downstairs say, like this morning, I'll go upstairs and wake her up, and I'm kind of laying with her bed. We're kind of having some jokes and some smiles. I'm waking her up and everything. Then Mom will come up with Scotty. Then we'll have all of it in there, and then like she puts Scotty on the ground and using Scottie just army army crawling for the railroad tracks, and Rue like leans up out of like her little bed, her little bed crib or whatever it is.

00:25:10
Speaker 2: It's like, oh no, She's like, oh no, I don't want scott Zilla.

00:25:13
Speaker 3: I don't want scott Zilla. I start laughing. I reach and grab Scotty's little leg and just like drag her back. I'm like nope, and then she'll like drag back and then she'll just be army crawling again. Oh those godzella.

00:25:24
Speaker 1: But got off track there. Rue wanted to go to the playground. Yeah, you know when you're a parent and it's just like, dude, it's close to bedtime. Like, no, Ru, We're not going to the playground. That's gonna take like thirty minutes or forty minutes by the time we get back, Like bedtime is coming up, dude. Yeah, And you're just sitting there as a parent, like a couple of things are happening. Kid starts to break down. You're in this like all right, if I fight this war, because that's what it's gonna be, I'm essentially gonna have to strong armor vocally or pick her up and take her upstairs, and it's just going to be a battle the whole time.

00:26:01
Speaker 3: Because she's gonna lose all of her composure. Or do I find this do I find this route?

00:26:09
Speaker 1: Do I find a negotiation tactic that can kind of get her off, get her off topic, get her off, killed her. But she's focused on going to the park. Yeah, then it please.

00:26:19
Speaker 2: I just want to swing. I just want to go to the park.

00:26:21
Speaker 3: Charl walks by with Scotty, and again it's seven o six. Charl walks by Scotty. She's gonna go upstairs and sit in the rocker and just easily put the bottle in her mouth and put her asleep. Yeah, she's got the relaxing mission. She's like, why you know, why don't you take it to the park. And I'm just like, why would you say that out loud? Like text that to me? So maybe, yeah, I might think about it, but why would you say that in front of rue, Because that's just gonna confirm you the park dead park.

00:26:47
Speaker 1: And she's like we can go fast, like we can go quick. I was like, I'm all right now I'm starting to come around, like, okay, I just need to embrace this moment. Yeah, daughter wants to go to the park. It's only seven oh six, It's only seven and ten at this point. Yeah, we can go to the park quick because park's not too far away. I can just embrace this moment, even though I know I don't want to. I just want to go up.

00:27:08
Speaker 2: I want to have a nice, clean, fun bedtime. Ye.

00:27:12
Speaker 1: I want to read a couple of books and just put her to bed. But I'm now getting on board with going to the park. So I'm like, all right, how many minutes do you want to the park? And she's like five minutes. All right, we can go to the park. I give her a few more. I'm like, hey, we can do ten minutes at the park. But we're leaving after ten minutes. Do you understand, Yes, we're gonna have a good, clean bedtime fast when we get home. Do you understand, Yeah, all right, go get your shoes on. We go to the park and honestly, like a blessing of dis guys, we get to the park and it's in there like she's like, Dan, there's.

00:27:44
Speaker 3: No kids there. There's nobody at the park. It's just us. It was awesome.

00:27:48
Speaker 1: We get out, it's quiet. She's like, why don't there any kids? You hear the bugs in the background. She's like, why aren't there any kids?

00:27:54
Speaker 3: And I'm like, oh, everybody's eating dinner or getting ready for bed, like you.

00:27:57
Speaker 2: Should be doing right now. But your dad. You gotta cool dad.

00:28:01
Speaker 1: You got a cool dad, pop a team six that he wanted to take you to the park and spend some time with you. Push her on the swing timer it started on my watch, sweetheart, you got about six minutes left.

00:28:11
Speaker 2: What else do you want to do?

00:28:12
Speaker 3: We hit the slide. She goes down. By how many times you want to go down the slide? She's like, uh.

00:28:16
Speaker 1: She goes down once and she said, I want you to come with me, Dad, Dad. So I'm like, all right, I'll go down the slide three times, you know, low back, trying to take care of it. Go down the site three times, go three, one, two three. We're flying down. We're having a great time. End up going five times. Ten minutes turns into fifteen. She doesn't want to leave the park. Knew that was gonna come. Getting here in the swing. I'm like, sweetheart, we have to go. No, I want to bob out, sweet art Rue, we have to go home. You said ten minutes. We agreed on that.

00:28:41
Speaker 3: Dad gave you fifteen because Dad loves you.

00:28:43
Speaker 2: Cool dad.

00:28:44
Speaker 3: But now it's time to go. She's starting to you know, I'm like a sweetheart, We have to go or the monsters are gonna come.

00:28:52
Speaker 1: And prepar it's out there. Just be careful with how you use the word monsters, because at that point I turned it into a game.

00:28:59
Speaker 2: The monsters are gonna come.

00:29:00
Speaker 3: When the sun goes down. You gotta race to the car for the monsters.

00:29:02
Speaker 1: Get us the mask, the Grinch, Tafeedi, the Bear, all these Monstersfi Tafeedi is the bad guy in Moana.

00:29:11
Speaker 3: Oh no, is that the bat lady girl? Ohyeah, it's like the girl. She's also like the mountain, the volcano.

00:29:16
Speaker 2: Yes TOFEEDI.

00:29:17
Speaker 3: That's Orange Teafeedi, Yice Stefeedi's the green one where.

00:29:20
Speaker 1: She turns good. But those are all of her mortal enemies. The mask of Michael Myers mass that sits in the closet. So the monsters come out. So we run in, and you know, we get home probably eight o'clock, a little past eight. Usually I'm hoping to be walking out of her room from bedtime around eight o'clock, eight fifteen, But we get home at eight. All right, it's bedtime, dude. It takes an hour for me to get her to go to bed. She just got energy she's having fun. She's like that I want to read these books. I want to read them by myself. I'm like, all right, you can't read, but go ahead and look at the pictures.

00:29:53
Speaker 2: Is she saying good night to anything?

00:29:55
Speaker 1: No, she's just like saying, I guess what's on the picture. I don't know what she's saying because I'm trying to get her. I'm gonna make it easy for Hey, you read the book, I'm gonna brush your hair while you're reading. Knock that out instead of doing the last I'm gonna lay out her pull up and her pajamas. Hey, these are pajamas. Whenever you're ready to go, time to get out of your clothes and stop reading the book. And by the way, fancy Nancy. I am so over fancy Nancy. It's fancy Nancy is so difficult for myself to read. At times, I find myself sounding like a fourth grader trying to read reading fancy Nancy, because it's it's these fancy cursive letters or these these just me getting mad about fay is these fancy letters that make it a little difficult to read.

00:30:37
Speaker 3: And there's a lot of verb. It's it's like fancy Nancy gives you a lot of fancy words and then gives you the definition of the fancy word, like this is another name for doing this, and.

00:30:47
Speaker 2: It's teaching them language and teaching them vocabulary.

00:30:49
Speaker 3: I understand that, but there's too much going on with fancy Nancy, and fancy Nancy kind of pisses me off.

00:30:54
Speaker 2: Does it give you a good cadence?

00:30:56
Speaker 3: Like is the does it feel like the formula is the same on each page or is it almost like it's structured so wildly that.

00:31:05
Speaker 1: Bro, there's this one book that structured so wildly like she's opening up her ooh La Lave fancy like Manny Petty store or something like that. And on each one there's also instructions of how to do a many petty I skip those and read a few lines above and below. But there's so much going on in these books. Some stories are all right to read, you get through them. Fancy Nancy didn't get a part in the play where she wanted to be like a mermaid or something like that. There's another one where she doesn't go to bed early, so she's cranky the next day. And that's why it's important to get your sleep. Come on, there's some good messaging in Fancy Nancy, but overall, Fancy Nancy has too much going on. Yes, and it again difficult for me to read. And I'm not gonna say difficult like I can't read. I'm saying difficult like all we have is a night light on or like a lamp on when I'm reading.

00:31:52
Speaker 3: So it's a little darker in the room. So it's a little it makes it a little more difficult to read. Nancy did what the what the fuck she do?

00:31:59
Speaker 2: What does she doing? What's Nancy?

00:32:01
Speaker 4: Though?

00:32:02
Speaker 3: I will say, Eloise at the Plaza?

00:32:04
Speaker 2: Have you ever read that?

00:32:07
Speaker 3: Possibly? Okay, because that that book, and this may be a hot take, but that book is equally hard to read because of the breaks in it. I want h oh, the places you'll go doctor Sue's style, and then they will have the new hat.

00:32:25
Speaker 1: And I know when to my voice could flow. Yes, it sounds like Nancy's kind of all over the place. Okay, she's a tip out there for the for the parents. Some of you might love Fancy Nancy. I got a bone to pick.

00:32:36
Speaker 2: With the little girl. Don't blame you. So I'm going off on a tangent. I know we got to keep this under an hour.

00:32:42
Speaker 1: The dad loss is losing a verbal negotiation with your little one after dinner time I ended up, but the park, the park turned into a win. The loss then was it took her an hour to get her down for bedtime. The other loss was the ripple effect of saying monsters at the park because at the end of bedtime she wanted to ask about the monsters and can they get in the house.

00:33:00
Speaker 2: Know, they can't use their hands, they.

00:33:01
Speaker 3: Don't know how to open doors, so they're not gonna be an ouse. No, but what about outside?

00:33:05
Speaker 1: They're not you know, highlight, they don't come out at nighttime. Our monsters nice, Yeah, monsters are nice. Dad has friends with the monsters. The comptons are in good standing with the monsters, so they're not gonna mess with us. A great family, great mons. Monsters know they're nice to us. A matter of fact, they make a movie about nice monsters. It's Monsters, Inc. We'll watch it on the next Pizza Friday.

00:33:26
Speaker 2: Okay, what's this Pizza Friday?

00:33:29
Speaker 1: So we're listening right now. It's July eighteenth Friday. Okay, family, and now.

00:33:35
Speaker 2: We're going to Canada tomorrow.

00:33:36
Speaker 1: On the nineteenth of July, don't get back until the next Sunday. So, people that are listening to the show right now, you're boys in the middle of Canada going on some hikes. I'm going with my uh, I'm going with my best friend Nick and his family. We got We're bringing both families. We're gonna have fun. We're going on a lot of like nice excursions out there in the Northwest. It's gonna be a lot of fun. That's what I'll be doing currently. However, today on Pizza Friday, as we're recording this podcast, we are watching Mynsters Inc. Tonight because of the monsters ripple effect that this week has had, because I brought up monsters at the playground. I was doing my gas station run last night. Charle was on rude, dirty rude duty, got Scottie down wonderfully and uh so I went on my little gas station run and go get me a couple of drinks.

00:34:18
Speaker 3: Give me yeah.

00:34:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, Charli hopefully is not listening. But I get back home and Charles like I had to stay. She had me up there forever because she had to turn her flashlight on and clear every part of her room because of monsters. Oh no like hand up, that's on me. I said monsters are going to come out when the sun goes down. Now she thinks monsters are everywhere when it's the nighttime.

00:34:40
Speaker 3: Which is a healthy boundaries with outside and and uh it being dark out. Yeah, ed by a learning lesson as well. I feel like I've thrown the word monsters around you. Just know how to use it. It's great, it's great, ammo in the backpack, it's great, ammo on the backpack. Just know how to use it because there's gonna be a ripple effect with mine and having that extra lore already built out for when those questions start coming. Maybe on the drive home, you're telling yourself, okay, but the monster they come at the park, they don't come at the house. It's a little different exact because you got the park monsters exactly.

00:35:14
Speaker 1: My mistake as a dad was saying the monsters come out when the sun goes down.

00:35:18
Speaker 2: That's a blanket stand.

00:35:19
Speaker 1: It's a blank universal suns down. Holy shit, monsters are surrounding the house, not our house.

00:35:25
Speaker 3: You know. They can't use their hands.

00:35:27
Speaker 1: They don't know not open doors that it locks all the doors anyway, sweetheart, No, no, they're not mean. Dad has friends with them. A matter of fact, they just talked to him. I came up here, I said, hey, don't.

00:35:35
Speaker 3: Bother the ass. I was saying all this stuff. Oh no, also a very selfish note that you bringing up Nick.

00:35:45
Speaker 4: Dude.

00:35:45
Speaker 3: It just it breaks my heart that you're gonna have to tell them what I did today on forgetting to hit record. You're gonna have to break that to Nick, and that's Nick listens. He listens, Nick listens. He said some very kind things about me. Shout out, he.

00:35:59
Speaker 1: Did, you're like his favorite podcaster, left me down and like outside the top ten.

00:36:04
Speaker 3: But yeah, we'll revisit that list after this episode. I'm sure he's gonna be like, you can't do that to my boy. Well, he'll probably. He'll probably scold me for hey, be easy on him.

00:36:13
Speaker 2: It's a good boy. But you yell at him or something, Papa, I didn't yell at you.

00:36:18
Speaker 3: No, you didn't, you didn't.

00:36:21
Speaker 2: I was very.

00:36:21
Speaker 3: Frustrated, though.

00:36:22
Speaker 1: Now I feel like we're getting to where we were in the first podcast.

00:36:27
Speaker 3: This is exactly the exact point where shit hit the fan. So for listeners at home, these are all fresh takes. This is where the fun begins. Yeah, this, how can I tell you what we missed?

00:36:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead the top please, because we love engaging with Papa Team said, dude, we got to the roll call that's been going on on story and Twitter where I'm sitting there and I'm getting getting a little feen, little sky to the bottle and I take a little selfie with a flex or a little selfie with a smile, doesn't matter, and you just hit Papa Team six roll call and people just calm and respond with photos.

00:37:01
Speaker 3: Of them and their kids. I love it, love it too.

00:37:04
Speaker 1: And again if you're listening, like I said in the my Instagram story tag at for the Dad's pod, So that way we can share those stories and share the roll call that you guys are clocking.

00:37:14
Speaker 3: In and doesn't even necessarily have to be one of us that start the roll call.

00:37:19
Speaker 1: Yes, Like if you're a night time and it's like, oh I got hit the roll call, or you're having a little tough moment, you're like.

00:37:23
Speaker 2: You know what, I gotta hit a roll call.

00:37:24
Speaker 3: A listener roll call would go crazy, would go crazy. Yeah, if you want to retweet, if you're looking for some uh whatso word? Where people are clicking, well, clout, but they're clicking on your stuff. Engagement, engagement, you want to engagement farm, I know a quick way to get a Will Compton retweet little PT six check in.

00:37:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, I do love them when when everybody's like tagging us about a dad's story or whatever it is, whether they're hitting like a roll call, just checking in from the trenches. Love this message, love this, love the lesson or the quote or the story that dad hack, whatever it is.

00:38:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, when people write something that's that's that's the fastest way to my heart.

00:38:08
Speaker 2: It also it sticks out to me.

00:38:10
Speaker 3: I've said this in our earlier podcast this morning of the posts that Chef put up of the I Want You Papa Team six, Yeah, Jill was mentioning that some of her friends are even seeing those posts and they're just like, I love the way that the podcast does have this community of like checking in on the listeners. Like it's not only like hey you win assured or hey subscribe blah blah blah, but just like the constant like.

00:38:38
Speaker 1: A PT six, how we dude the PT six people saying ST six for Seed Team six or Semen Team six.

00:38:45
Speaker 2: I love my Semen team six members, love it, love them.

00:38:48
Speaker 3: I can't.

00:38:50
Speaker 1: Did I say the bud's acronym? You did in the second and the second.

00:38:54
Speaker 2: In the in the second episode, but worth revisiting if you'd like. I'm just glad it's out there.

00:38:58
Speaker 3: So people even start utilizing that when they say bud straining, it's like, now there's another inside joke of breeding until.

00:39:05
Speaker 1: Dad status and then moms again. To go back into the comments because we at the top of the episode we kind of glossed over that.

00:39:12
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:39:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, But Natalie Brown twenty four to seventy six, this is for some mom names out there, She said, thirty year old mom of three checking in from southeast Missouri.

00:39:22
Speaker 3: That's your boy's neck of the woods.

00:39:23
Speaker 1: Come my take on mom pt six. Moms are without a doubt mom, a Delta force m hashtag MDF. Pregnant moms are Delta incourse, trying to conceive, Delta intercourse, surrogate mom, Delta outsource, got pregnant, pregnant but didn't intend to Delta remorse.

00:39:43
Speaker 3: And then second crack at it.

00:39:47
Speaker 2: Do I go?

00:39:48
Speaker 3: I hit the last one?

00:39:48
Speaker 1: You can one of those Casey Anthony type mom's Delta en force.

00:39:54
Speaker 3: That's a comment. Love the humor, Love the humor. That's a comment. It's a joke and it's a legend. And then also there one chef.

00:40:01
Speaker 1: Can you read the mom that was underneath the I want you pop a team six And she's like, I'm cooking up some names.

00:40:06
Speaker 3: Check the DMS.

00:40:06
Speaker 2: Yeah for sure. Uh, this is Kennedy Leblonk. She's sent a very nice long message that I will forward to you guys.

00:40:13
Speaker 5: Uh.

00:40:14
Speaker 2: Female listener squad names Overy Ops and womb Raiders. Oh love Overy ops, Love over ops.

00:40:21
Speaker 1: And we were talking about it on the first one were but womb raiders, that's it.

00:40:27
Speaker 3: That's like a mercenary Yeah, we're saying.

00:40:29
Speaker 1: It's like a mercenary group that doesn't necessarily work with all the military units that were creating you know what I mean. Womb Raiders feels like it's like an outsourcing.

00:40:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like a special ops from.

00:40:41
Speaker 3: The private sector. What did I I'm blinking again. Did you say splinter unit? You said splinter splinter unit. It's a splinter unit.

00:40:48
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:40:49
Speaker 3: I almost think of like caretakers or like nurse types or nanny types or you know, babysitters, like they you know, they're coming in their help and where they can.

00:41:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's kind of where I what I go to. I wanted to add, if you think about it too, if you're a woman listening to this podcast, you're probably a sick. Oh so it kind of fits the whole.

00:41:11
Speaker 3: You're probably a sickle.

00:41:13
Speaker 2: I mean, it fits the whole special.

00:41:15
Speaker 1: If you're a new mom, you might have to be It might have to be Milk Team six. I love Milk Team six because milk is you know what I mean, it's pump.

00:41:25
Speaker 3: Pumping at least five ounces, six ounces is what Jill's getting out now.

00:41:30
Speaker 2: It's crazy. Yeah, new mom's milk teams, Milk Team six.

00:41:35
Speaker 3: I love Raiders, Ovary Ops, all the Delta task Forces. Oh yeah, we'll let it. We'll let moms chime in. Yeah, mom's chime in.

00:41:45
Speaker 2: We need to have a mom podcast collaboration.

00:41:48
Speaker 3: I would love that. What what what was the name?

00:41:51
Speaker 4: Uh?

00:41:52
Speaker 2: We just became MILFs? Was the one that my wife.

00:41:56
Speaker 3: Did we just become milks?

00:41:58
Speaker 2: I believe? Did we become milse?

00:42:00
Speaker 3: Yeah? Did we just become mills? I think?

00:42:03
Speaker 2: But I know there are a few out there. Dude, it would be fun to collaborate on a podcast, bring them on for the dads.

00:42:09
Speaker 3: My my shop talk some shop. My wife has been throwing out the tea. Apparently that's a big one, the tea. The tea. She was like, if y'all collabsed with the tea, that would it would be the greatest thing to ever happen on the innerweb. Dude, it would just be fun, allegedly.

00:42:29
Speaker 1: Have fun talk about like both sides, Like what's the deal with complaining about having to pump all the time?

00:42:34
Speaker 3: Like that stuff seems does it really hurt?

00:42:37
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:42:38
Speaker 1: Like if I was pumping, It's like I was telling my wife when she was feeding and pumping and doing all that stuff.

00:42:45
Speaker 3: I just, sweetheart, I wish I could pump. Like I'll have those things on all day long and I'll just go upstairs playing pupg with the boys. Hey, that just turning out milk.

00:42:56
Speaker 2: Thank god you said that.

00:42:57
Speaker 3: That is my survival k I had a different survivor really quick, I'll plug the wireless breast pumps. Do y'all have those? Yes? Bro? Those are crazy. Jill literally has a bra that she slips these wireless breast pumps in, and she could be doing anything in the house that she would want to do. She could go out to Target and nobody. They would just be like, oh, wow, she's.

00:43:21
Speaker 1: Got a wire connector. That's like it's like battery operated that.

00:43:27
Speaker 3: That's that's what Jill had. And then we went to this wireless thing. Dude, I'm telling you, Jill could be walking around Target right now shopping and it just looks like she's heavy chested. You don't even see it, you don't even hear it. And it's just inside the bra, just doing the just getting milk, getting milked. And then when you take it out of the bra, you pour it upside down to It's as simple as that, and pours out.

00:43:52
Speaker 2: All the breasts of the second one. Oh yeah, dude, Hey, I did. I did try it.

00:43:57
Speaker 3: I don't know if I told you that not that bad, right, Well, it was a very small amount. I'll do an actual sip. But I did like a little like, uh, you know, it leaked on the side of the bottle. I did one of these, and I was just looking at this drop and I went, it wasn't that bad, not that bad. It's not that bad. Looks weird. It looks very weird, like, ah, looks like some spoiled it's a little yellow, Yeah, a little yellow so spoiled looking milk. Let me try it out. Why not, I'm drinking worse things. Yeah, it looks like agnog not the bad, not the bad, not the bad. But yeah, a little collab. I think that would be awesome at Barker on YouTube commented eleven days until joining PT six So damn stoked.

00:44:44
Speaker 1: Yes, bro, come onngratulations that. Uh he's gonna be in it. He's gonna be in it just like you. He will be He will be a Papa Team six member. This one comes from ham Bonious Rex see Team six, twin Boys Inbound, Good good wife struggling. So I'm building all the furniture, cooking, doing laundry, and the grocery shopping.

00:45:06
Speaker 3: Good, good good. I love it. You gotta embrace it, man, I will say, with the furniture building, and I think we've talked about this. You don't like furniture, Oh buddy, I task grab it the shit out. Charles like, hey, it'd be fun if you built the crib. It would be fun, wouldn't it. I'm not going to, which shocks me.

00:45:27
Speaker 2: Which shocks me.

00:45:27
Speaker 3: I don't think it's a bad thing that you don't build it, but I get so much like it's almost cathartic when I build furniture, Like I truly get so much like God, look what I did. And I'm able to point at it. And Jill can physically see the work that I did. And she's like, bra I hear on the phone, Sherman put together this shelfe is so hard to put together, and she's proud of me. I'm like, damn, I need to keep doing that. What makes me ultimately having to do it?

00:45:57
Speaker 1: Because there'd be a couple furniture pieces and I don't want to task grab it, but Charles wants to build it.

00:46:04
Speaker 3: She starts building it. I feel bad.

00:46:06
Speaker 1: I go in and build it with her, but I draw a boundary, sweetheart, just took a little bit of time. I'm task grabbiting the next thing. Yeah, well, especially if you have I've painted a couple of rooms.

00:46:19
Speaker 3: There you go.

00:46:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, painted Ruse room, painted our office. I don't think I painted Scotti's room. I don't think I painted Scottism.

00:46:28
Speaker 3: But yeah, manual labor and Willie.

00:46:29
Speaker 2: See.

00:46:30
Speaker 1: Look do I think about like I built a couple of things, Yeah, for the kiddos.

00:46:38
Speaker 3: Do I remember building them. No, you know what I mean, It's not like I look back, Oh, Papa built that for you. Yes, I will say this. When I look at you, the way that you interact with the world, you do not seem like somebody that's not handy. Yeah, like you don't. You don't give off any type of I've seen you around the grill at the Father's Day or Father's Day, the dad combine. Yeah, like you know what you're doing your hand I.

00:47:05
Speaker 1: Love that you say that because as my boy, I'm sure he's listening right now, he's probably chuckling knowing he's like Will hates anything manual labor related.

00:47:15
Speaker 3: Now, who is this? Nick?

00:47:16
Speaker 4: Oh?

00:47:17
Speaker 3: Nick?

00:47:17
Speaker 4: Now?

00:47:17
Speaker 1: Am I competent? Can I read directions and get it right for the most part?

00:47:22
Speaker 3: Yes?

00:47:22
Speaker 1: Sometimes I might have to backtrack. Fuck, I gotta pull this all back apart. I did the wrong screw here. Yeah, yeah, I just don't care to. I just it's just not my bag, dude. Yeah, that one tell me other things on my mind, like if like, hey, you know, oh, let's build this thing. I'd love to just check out, take a mental break and put my hands on something and build something. There's no stress, but there might be messages that could just come across my phone. Hey forgot the press record on that entire episode.

00:47:51
Speaker 3: No, but really you do have way more traffic going on under your phone than like the normal human and it it does give me an opportunity to shut off my brain. But I feel like I'm able to afford myself that where maybe less so with yourself. So I get.

00:48:10
Speaker 2: I get that, I get.

00:48:12
Speaker 1: But if there was a badge for like furniture building, I wouldn't feel right accepting that badge. Even though I've done a couple of things, I wouldn't feel right accepting that badge.

00:48:21
Speaker 3: Does that make sense? Yeah, Like the if you came in next week and you said, Sherman, love you so much, fully forgive you for not hitting record and slash. I thought about it. You get your couch badge. You didn't really earn it, but I'm gonna give it to you. I would. I wouldn't slap it out of your hand, but I'd be like, I'm not putting that thing on.

00:48:41
Speaker 1: That's kind of yeah, that's kind of my mindset. Yeah, I wouldn't give you the couch badge. No, But in that hypothetical, that's the mindset. I'm one because I know there's dads out there. It's like it's a badge of honor. Yeah, you're building your kids like toy sets and doing all these things. Like for Christmas, I had to put together rush Chevy and then the little red uh, the little red car with a little yellow roof love put those things together, but the car. Yeah, it's not like I sit there and I'm like, I'm ready to do it. I'm ready to dive into this badge of honor. I'm like, shit, Christmases tomorrow, I do gotta build this thing. Yeah, any other comments, Oh, it's oh Benjamin, Benjamin, my little girl these days from taking her first steps and being on the move. I look forward to watching these episodes. It's such a more realistic way of showing how dead life really is. So both of your family stay healthy and happy. Dude, shout out the first steps, Mando. I'm like sitting there in front of her, and Mom's got her little arms and it's like walk to dead dad. Like you've seen her take a couple of steps, but now she's like she's about to walk to dead end. I just had the camera sitting in front of her.

00:49:46
Speaker 3: Mom lets her little arms go and she's just like water on over.

00:49:49
Speaker 2: Dude.

00:49:49
Speaker 1: It it warms your heart. Man, it's the best I watched that video so often. It's the best man video. As much as you fucking can.

00:50:00
Speaker 3: I am already getting my heart broken with seeing things on TikTok of like newborn to three months, Like look at the difference and it's like a little five second video of them as a newborn, and then it jumps to them as three months and I physically in my heart felt like a ooh when I saw that three month old. I said, that baby looks way too old.

00:50:21
Speaker 2: It's huge.

00:50:22
Speaker 3: What's going on?

00:50:24
Speaker 2: Choro?

00:50:24
Speaker 1: Every month we'll do a monthly photo with like a little sign next to him with the letters like six months old and get them to smile. And she did it with the rude doing it with Scottie the little growth chart. Yeah, just capture as much as you can. Capture as much as you can.

00:50:41
Speaker 3: I need to do a better job and to that point, and I'll read out this comment too, because we all did a good job of replying to him. This came on Twitter, uh, this came on our for the Dad's Check in our Papa Team six check in posts, tim A said seemed to seed team six year. We got our induction date today and man, I'm shitting myself. I was in the mindset that it was already real and had already hit me. But I was fucking wrong, full panic mode, engaged and damn near had an anxiety attack, but held it together for the WiFi. I remember that one will will you replied to it with the great comments, and hey, don't be scared and tell WiFi you know how you're feeling. You're not alone in this. I chimed in, said, you're crushing it. The fact that you have anxiety shows that you care. You're gonna crush it for the Dad Chef commented on it. But I want to challenge myself and we talked about this in my midyear review. I was thinking about this last night when I was going to bed. I was like, God, I got it. I got a reply to more comments, cause there were getting so many comments that it's not like it waters it down to where I don't care, but there's just so many comments say like Okay, I'll get to these in a little bit or yes, and then you kind of forget because it's it's it can be overwhelming for sure, Yes, And then I think to myself, they spent so much of their time to put that out there. The least I can do is heart that and give some sort of reply to like show PT six like we're reading these things because I'm reading damn near almost all of them.

00:52:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, that I'm getting tagged in.

00:52:24
Speaker 1: That's the most fun part about this is like the goal is like building the community of Dad's Papa Team, say, even though the females that are involved in comment and everything else, but it's it's it's cool, bro, because you're right. It's like you want to we want to be doing these shows and pumping out content to where it's like, you know, we make dad Fatherhood seem fun, talk about low moments and just connecting with the community because they're like watching something there's Papa Team six, right, you're part of it. You're taking a moment to like comment and do your thing because you feel like we're all part of this thing.

00:52:58
Speaker 3: Because we are.

00:53:00
Speaker 1: And when old Buddy sent that anxiety attack, that kind of panic attack thing, it's like something that because when I said, hey, share with your wife, like something I would learn or charl and I would both learn like when we do therapy together, is like, you know, you want to keep on this energy as the man of coming off strong and coming off composed for them, right, And then you learn like when we're in these therapy sessions and talking about it, like hey, I'm nervous as shit too, like I'm terrified because I think I'm going to be a bad dad, or you feel like you know she's going through so much so you want to remain strong. And that also creates a sense of like alone, like this lonely feeling for yourself too, because it builds up the stress.

00:53:45
Speaker 2: And build up in you at some point.

00:53:47
Speaker 1: And just communicating that stress with your partner, because again, it's not about strength, it's about just connection. It's about sometimes that is a strength is just hey, we're both fucking terrified and we're both going through this, and I feel like I want to help carry that for you. But your partner also wants to know that you are terrified. That probably helps them feel a little more comfortable as well, Like you don't as a man, you don't always have to come up strong, especially with your partner, so you tell her, hey, bro, the gentleman that sent that message and am I reply to Tim, It's like, dude, share that with your wife, Like I'm telling you, it's she wants to know what you're going through as well. It's not about just like they're probably feeling like, man, I'm stressing out so much, I'm doing all these things. Like he seems to have it all together, Like should I continue sharing all this stuff with him? Does he even want to hear about it? It's like, bro, you tell her that you're going through the same shit or you're going through your own walk with it too, Like that's where you can both connect over all that stuff. Then you go into the fire together because I promise you no parent feels like they're just ready for it all when it comes. Everybody's excited and everybody's also terrified because it's like, am I going to be a good dad? Am I going to be a good mom? Am I going to come up short? I didn't have the best upbringing. Am I going to be a replication of what I grew up in? Am I going to be carry on the legacy that my parents were to me? Like there's all these different things that everybody has. Yeah, that's all justified, But it's just like you're going into the fire and you want to do it. You want to do it with each other.

00:55:08
Speaker 2: And dude, the.

00:55:09
Speaker 3: Worries that I had. I said this to my friend because he was asking me. He's a Seed Team six member looking to become a dad, and he was picking my brain of just like surem, how's it going. And how I broke it down to him is I was like, the worries that I talked about with you on the show, of like getting enough sleep, the diaper stuff, all that stuff, I like laugh about that now because I'm like, it's like we got that figured out and we're onto the next thing. Like I got bigger fish to fry and to worry about. And I told him it was like, I'm from Aledo, Texas, a huge football town in Texas. I remember trying out for the football team my freshman year and all the upper classmen being like.

00:55:50
Speaker 2: Hey, you get fucking ready.

00:55:52
Speaker 3: It's just different.

00:55:54
Speaker 2: It's fucking different on.

00:55:55
Speaker 3: It's grown men out.

00:55:56
Speaker 2: He's grown men. Shit, I don't think you're built for this shit.

00:56:00
Speaker 3: And then you look up two months later and you're like halfway through the season and you're a football player on the team.

00:56:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, doing your thing.

00:56:08
Speaker 3: Like it, and you see the next crop going through the same anxieties and fears. Yes, it's like it's like, yes, worry about it, yes, be nervous about it. But I can't wait for you to see me do a diaper change. And I mean you're gonna be like, Yo, let's fucking go. I see you kid, Yes, dude, Yeah, I never thought i'd be good at that, And now that's just second nature. That's I'll be three diapers and one change because there's shit on that one, but then she peed on the clean ones. So now that one's in there, and now we got a third one and the Yeah, now we're good. Just know that it's all normal and natural.

00:56:41
Speaker 1: And catching yourself when the anxiety or the stress is building to where you can give yourself the grace of hey, this is normal.

00:56:48
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:56:48
Speaker 1: Think about the millions, billions of kids and parents that were before us.

00:56:54
Speaker 3: Look how many humans are on planet Earth, dude, And just being able to identify exactly like you said, identified the anxiety and if you're able to communicate that neurologically, us dudes, us papas are we are naturally not good communicators on that front, right, you default to that strength. I gotta come off this way, and that is just that is in your brain. That is literally built into your brain to do that. So when you're sharing that stuff with your partner, bro, They're going that's like crack cocaine to them. They will be so excited that you broke down how you're feeling in that moment, Like when I told Jill how pissed I was about that dad loss of scarlet overheating. Yeah, her being like, you're good, she's fine, look at her, She's asleep right now, and like it's not gonna happen again. You're gonna be cognizant of the heat. Well, let's move on. Tomorrow's a new day.

00:57:49

00:58:49
Speaker 3: For oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, so this was technically my motherfucked moment.

00:58:56
Speaker 4: We had.

00:58:57
Speaker 3: I titled it the Battle for the Belt Jill one spoiler alert.

00:59:01
Speaker 2: She won the belt.

00:59:02
Speaker 3: Um, let me read a little quote here and you guys can guess who this quote is from listeners at home. This might seem familiar. Show your kids what resilience looks like. Maybe you're just exhausted and don't have any patience, but it is something to keep in mind that I have to constantly remind myself is that our kids are always watching. They're watching how we handle things and how we deal with adversity around the house, and watching how we handle our communication with everyone around us. Those the Papa Team six lesson last week. That was episode six, Episode six. That comes from William Compton.

00:59:42
Speaker 4: The third.

00:59:44
Speaker 2: Is I did not show good resilience.

00:59:48
Speaker 3: Oh happens, bro Oh don it happens more often than not. I'll break it down for you for dads out there, if you are breastfeeding, or if mom is breastfeeding, Charo is a breastfeeder, so you are well aware of this. They have to either feed or pump every threeish hours pretty constantly, pretty constantly. So why we wish we could pump. That's why we wish we could pump, because if they don't pump, there is a bacterial build up that can then make mom very sick, not baby, not just pretty.

01:00:23
Speaker 1: Like a clog situation where that's painful, yes, dude, but essentially Mom's got somebody on those milkers twenty four to seven, whether it's a baby or it's a pump.

01:00:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, And it is something to where Jill. The most sleep Jill has gotten in a set contained amount of hours is probably two and a half. That's probably the most sleep that she's gotten because she is just wanting to be superstar mom of If the doctor, the pediatrician shout out, uh wait, can I say my doctor's name if you want to?

01:01:04
Speaker 2: Or I don't know, there's nothing legally you can't.

01:01:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, she can't talk about us, but I could talk about her. Yes, sure, okay, shout out doctor Steigelefest, great name. She says, Jill, you gotta pump every three hours. Well, Jill's gonna be like, by god, I'm pumping every three hours.

01:01:22
Speaker 1: Right, Because again, it's like any type of build up that happens if they miss like, moms definitely want to stay on that stuff.

01:01:27
Speaker 3: Absolutely. Milk Team six, Milk Team six. I bet that there are a lot of moms that don't breastfeed and so they are getting some better sleep because they're you know, feeding on formula. Or maybe there's some moms that like they'll skip a pump because you can at the end of the day, you can skip a pump or feed and go formula.

01:01:46
Speaker 2: But Jill is not that way.

01:01:48
Speaker 3: She's like, I want to feed whenever I can. I want to pump whenever I can, and I'm operating as I'm not sleeping the best either, but nowhere near two and a half hours of sleep being my best night's sleep. Yeah. And so when I'm showing signs of I'm kind of tired, I need a little bit of an escape. I need to play video games with the boys. Oh honey, the boxes can wait till tomorrow. Oh honey, this can wait. I'll make the bed for my mom coming in town later. Honey.

01:02:22
Speaker 2: I wait, I need a nap going.

01:02:24
Speaker 3: I need a nap so bad if you just let me nap for thirty minutes, I just need a nap going into this night shift, and I'm gonna be solid, I'm gonna be set. And so there's all this build up of me kind of basically the whole day just showing signs of, hey, Jill, I'm exhausted, and Jill's just eating it and in the in her head she's like, I've mostly I've gotten this two hours in this son of a bitch.

01:02:52
Speaker 2: So it all comes out when I.

01:02:54
Speaker 3: And when those those.

01:02:57
Speaker 1: Stressors are high too, It's it's like that the scoreboard comes into play in your mind, yes, whether you wanted to or not, because again you're operating out of your like operating on E you both are yes.

01:03:08
Speaker 3: And she did a great job of being like, I want you to sleep, I want you to get your But I look at you and selfishly I'm like, damn, he got six hours. That's crazy. I wish I could get six hours. Yeah, And so there's that comparison. So she sees her, you know, dumb stupid husband, go lug over to the xbox and go, you know, turn on the xbox. And I got little Scarlet over here next to me. And Scarlet's kind of and she's like, are you gonna pick her up? And no, honey, she does that. It's fine, Like, well, sherman, you have the headset on, like can you hear her crying? Yeah, honey, I leave the headset like partially off my ear. I know when Scarlet's crying. Well, are you talking to people on there who you play? Yeah, I'm playing with Will and Jared and but also a note, they said that I shouldn't be playing.

01:04:00
Speaker 2: They said I shouldn't be playing.

01:04:01
Speaker 1: I don't think we said it when you were on the game, but when I was hearing everything that had happened and went down, I know in my brain, I was like, my questions were, how is he on the game? And then my next thought or I guess three, how is.

01:04:19
Speaker 2: He on the game?

01:04:20
Speaker 3: Why is he on the game hearing this story? Or she might not know that he's on the game at the moment, which we'll get into. So I'm just about to get onto the game and Jill pops her top on me, just loses it on me. Say why what do we get to say? Why?

01:04:43
Speaker 2: Oh?

01:04:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, of just like you're acting like you're tired, you're da da da you get to have this nighttime shift that yes it's hard, but essentially you just sit next to her and play video games with your buddies, Like I have no community with like moms. Right, you know, I'm alone in this. I feel like my husband's hanging me out to dry during the day because he's tired because he got to play video games all night? Why watching our daughter? Oh oh, I'm getting there. I'm getting there. So to not go into full details of what Jill said. To protect my wife, some things were said that I was like, oh man, I mean I truly was like chin on the floor. I got ripped like five new ones and I'm sitting there and I'm starting to get pissed, not at her but at myself. And as she's going I'm telling her everything's fine. She needs to let me do me. We have this system in place, everything's good. And as that's going on, we have a fucking raccoon now confirmed in our ceiling, just moving around and Wriggly are sweet, Dot is just letting.

01:06:01
Speaker 2: The raccoon have it.

01:06:04
Speaker 3: So you have Jill losing on me, Scarlet, and then Wriggly. Well, there's one thing of those three that I can control, and it's Wriggly. I've been telling him no all night. There's one thing that you can go full pop a team six. I can go full pop a team six on And so I go up to Wrigley, I give him a no, and I on his butt, which we do that like with our dogs. I'm sorry for anybody at home that doesn't like that.

01:06:31
Speaker 1: Lost yourself in the moment you had a reaction to the dog had a reaction to the same way Yep gave him because that was like his eighth no that night.

01:06:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, and so I wanted to enforce it. I hit it.

01:06:41
Speaker 3: She goes, you are in no mood to be watching our daughter and goes and picks her up off the thing.

01:06:48
Speaker 1: I'm like, bro, that was You're about to do nighttime oh yeah, and lose it all this is happening.

01:06:56
Speaker 3: Yes, he hit the dog.

01:06:57
Speaker 1: Hit because he ain't shutting up, he's making it worse. Oh yeah, you hit the dog. You're about to do nighttime shift. And she's like, you're a no.

01:07:06
Speaker 3: You're in no mood to be watching our daughter. I can see it in your shoulders. You're so tense. I was the monsters in the park that Rue was afraid of. And I'm sitting there and I'm like, I became that guy. Like my wife is like scared for me to watch my daughter, Like am I a bad dad? Like?

01:07:26
Speaker 2: Am I a monster?

01:07:28
Speaker 3: Like what? Oh my gosh. I would never hurt Scarlet. I would never hurt Jill. And I'm not reacting verbally to Jill. I'm eating everything she's telling me because last time she lost it on me, like what six weeks ago, Yeah, seventy five percent of what she's saying is right, yeah, which it was. All of it's built up on you.

01:07:46
Speaker 2: Oh what happens?

01:07:48
Speaker 3: And so she's holding our daughter and I feel like I'm losing custody of my daughter like it was a I'm just sitting there like, dude, I fucked up, damn it. And she grabs this ugle me in the blanket. She goes, we're going to the room of you know, blah blah blah, and takes Scarlett into the room and I just sit there on the couch like this, and I'm just sitting there. I'm like, fuck because I know I can't go in.

01:08:12
Speaker 2: There and talk to her.

01:08:14
Speaker 3: It's both emotions are way too high. Motions are way too high. But also right move on that part. Yeah, I'm like I have lost in this situation. Not a cool down, not that it's a competition, but I've lost fully, So what can I do?

01:08:27
Speaker 1: But in your mind at the time, you're probably arguing your points in your head.

01:08:36
Speaker 3: Really to be completely honest, and this isn't the score points with her. At this point, I'm just really mad at myself, to be honest, like I really wasn't breaking it down of like, oh, like the only thing that I was like that's not true is like you're being a bad father blah blah blah. And I'm like, I know I'm a good dad. I might I might mess up dad, but I'm a good dad, so that won't hurt a little bit. But that's okay, I'll eat it. That's like the only thing that she really said contextually that made me upset, right, But I'm sitting there so fucking mad at myself, and I'm like, I honestly just want to talk to somebody. It's late at night. I know that the guys are on the Xbox, so I'm just gonna get on the Xbox. I know that my mentor Willie C is on there. Jay Rod's probably on there. He's great comic relief.

01:09:28
Speaker 1: Because we had planned the we had planned to play, we had planned Suram was late to getting on the game.

01:09:33
Speaker 3: We're kind of wondering what's going on.

01:09:35
Speaker 1: On TIVE like late late. Sharan was supposed to be on it like nine thirty. He remember when you FaceTime me and I was doing my back routine. It's like, no, that was what he said.

01:09:46
Speaker 2: Oh the Kroger.

01:09:47
Speaker 3: I forgot about Kroger.

01:09:49
Speaker 2: Yeah.

01:09:49
Speaker 1: Again, I don't know how much you were wanting to share, so, as your boy in the foxhole, no, I'm sorry.

01:09:54
Speaker 2: I'm sorry.

01:09:55
Speaker 3: I've missed a huge part of this story. Guys Yogurt love Kroger. But the guy that packed our they do a free pickup where they'll get all the groceries and you go park in the space they bring the groceries out to you. One of our grocery items was six chicken breasts and he put it in with like all of our veggies and fruits and like stuff that isn't fully covered and the chicken liquid is just seeping out of the it's covered in chicken stuff. So it's like, hey, if you want salmonilla, eat anything in this bag. Essentially, I'm like, well, that's you know, ninety dollars worth of groceries. I'm going back to Kroger. And Jill was like, honey, I your shift's about to start. I would really love you. And I'm like, honey, if I don't do this right now, it's not gonna happen, and we're gonna be ninety dollars in a hole and we're not pinching pennies, but we're trying to be smart with money. So I went up to Kroger. I told Jill was going to take like thirty minutes. It ended up taking two and a half hours, or close to I run into Ja worried anybody that follows me on Twitter, Saul, I ran into Jared in the parking lot, and I thought, oh, for the Dad's comes out tomorrow. Could be a fun little promo if I acted like I'm Papa Razzi.

01:11:10
Speaker 2: And hey Jared Jared.

01:11:12
Speaker 3: Jill sees that, Oh, so Sherman's at Kroger working hard to get at home. Jill's at home.

01:11:18
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, in terms like I'm going back to Kroger and I'm getting these groceries because the chicken juice has covered everything else. Gonna take me thirty minutes. Oh yeah, Shrm tells me, hey, I can be on the game around nine fifteen, nine thirty. He calls me, trying to talk me in the plane. I was like, buddy, okay. So Jill's thinking he's gonna go to the store for thirty minutes. It's a two and a half hour trip. So it's a two and a half hour trip. You know, she's doing what in the hell is going on? She probably gets on a social media sees that he's doing a fun little content bit with Jared in the parking lot, having.

01:11:51
Speaker 3: Fun as I'm waiting for Kroger to solve this issue and ended up being this whole thing where they we can't reimburse, we can exchange, but how we I don't know how we're gonna either way.

01:12:02
Speaker 1: Two and a half hours. Oh yeah, Suam comes home the hornet's nest. That's probably where all these conversations are taking place.

01:12:09
Speaker 3: And what's the first thing I do when I walk in after I put it said groceries in the fridge, I put on my headset. I get Scarlet in her little bed because I'm husband out of the year. You started to try to play the game before the motherfucked moment. Yes, oh yeah, that's what kicked it all off. That's what kicked it all off is I came home thinking I killed it at Kroger. Now it's my turn to watch here, honey. Let me take Scarlett, you go to bed, love you, and put her in her little snuggle me. And that I'm sitting there with my headset on and she's in her snuggle me going and not crying crying, but like kind of moving, and Jil's like, are you gonna do something about that?

01:12:53
Speaker 2: And I probably very quickly was.

01:12:54
Speaker 3: Like, oh, yeah, she's fine, she's fine.

01:12:56
Speaker 2: She does that and go back to my gut.

01:12:58
Speaker 3: And she's like, when I have Scarlet, I'm holding Scarlet and I'm making sure Scarlet's good, and I'm blah blah blah, and Sherman's doing this like havesy kind of you're.

01:13:09
Speaker 1: Playing with Jared in the parking lot at Kroger. You come home and you just get on the headset and she's whining, you're not doing nothing.

01:13:14
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, And Sherman's just he's having the time of his life.

01:13:17
Speaker 2: Fatherhood's so easy.

01:13:19
Speaker 3: It's just so much fun. And so she popped I mean she popped off on me, which totally.

01:13:25
Speaker 1: Sherman was on the game for like a total of five minutes. Well that was later, so you were you were logging on to play and walking on to play.

01:13:34
Speaker 2: That happens.

01:13:36
Speaker 3: You don't need to be, you know, Pop Wrigley, you don't need to be watching our daughter. I'm going to the room. So I think that there, that she's in there for the rest of the night. You're like, all right, she's on night she's on night duty. Now she took it out of my hands because she took out my hands slash, I know, because I tried to get Scarlett back like two or three times verbally, not like trying to get her back. But yeah, honey, I'm I'm sorry. You know what, You're right, I'm sorry. Just let me watch No, you're not gonna watch her.

01:14:04
Speaker 1: She goes up to the room. Oh yeah, so you're sitting down there.

01:14:07
Speaker 3: I'm like, I want to get this situation off my chest because I feel like the biggest idiot ever. I'm pissed at myself. I know my boy Willy sees on there, Taylor's on there, Jared's on there. So I log in and I just logs in trauma dumb on them for like five minutes. Yeah, yeah, just trauma dumb. Mid trauma dumb.

01:14:27
Speaker 1: Jill walks in and I'm hearing this whole story, and I'm just thinking, how are you on the game right now? Why are you on the game right now? I wonder if Jill even knows he's playing the game right now.

01:14:38
Speaker 3: Cause I'm just like, she's bunkered into her room. Yeah, like she's gonna be in there for the rest of the night. I might crawl in here in like right thirty minutes, forty five minutes and she comes outside and sees me on the game, and goes, oh, great, you're on the game again, and I'm like, fuck, So I instantly turn off the Xbox instantly. I mean, yeah, I'm sure I was probably talking to you, you guys, and then you probably just saw we saw.

01:15:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, we saw your name leave the leave the discord. We saw the little plug logo next to your guy's name. We're like, I think it's bad.

01:15:10
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it went south for sure. Sure them over there in the house, surep needs reinforcements. So then I get a second lashing from Jill. Understandably, gotta keep this under an hour, by the way, gotta keep this under an hour. So in my brain I then say to myself, you need to be a good dad, and you need to start knocking out the things that you said you would help knock out for Jill. So I instantly go to the washer and dryer, I change out that load. I go outside into our front yard. I put my gloves, my work gloves on. Oh she wants the she wants the weeds going the weeds about to Oh, oh she wants to fuck Everybody on the on the Twitter say, oh, shureman, what's that wha tree in your front yard?

01:15:51
Speaker 4: Fuck?

01:15:51
Speaker 2: That weed tree.

01:15:52
Speaker 3: I got my hands all and just I'm just go on. At this point, it's probably like eleven thirty, close to twelve, and I'm just taking down all these weeds out there, diabolically killing the weeds covered, kicking out all your anger and all.

01:16:08
Speaker 2: Your stress on these chores around the house. Oh yeah, dude.

01:16:10
Speaker 3: And because of the night shift, I like had a little nitro like coffee type thing that like earlier in the night to help me, but on an empty stomach. So I'm out there, I'm starting to get lightheaded. I'm like, all right, I need some full rainbow outside, full fucking rambo on these weeds. And then in my head, when I was going inside to get a water, I hear doom, doom, doom up in the roof, and I literally shot up and I looked up at that ceiling. I said, tonight's the night. Whatever that animal is, it's gonna fucking die. I was raised at home where I hunted. I've killed armadillo, I've killed rabbit bare handed, but with an object, I'm gonna kill whatsever in my roof. Yeah, we have a huge fucking ladder at the shop. I'm gonna go get that ladder. Am I crazy, am my psycho that I'm turning to kill something in this moment of anger. No, Sherman, you're not.

01:17:06
Speaker 2: It's okay.

01:17:07
Speaker 3: The thing needs to die. It's ruining your life. It's all you hear at night. I get to the shop at like one thirty, I unlock you, I get the ladder. I go back to my hond on thirty in the morning, Sherman is here at the shop getting the ladder to go home, getting the ladder to go home. Should I use a hammer? Should I use a knife? You know what it actually be best. Let's get the fireplace poker. That's sharp, it's got some length to it. I'm gonna have to rip these wood slats off the side of my little enclosure to go in here and kill whatever this thing is. And I get halfway up the ladder to where I'm about like roof height, and I said to myself, these are the stories that you tell in the er, like these are the stories that you tell the doctor and your family sitting around you're laughing because you have a broken tibia or phibia, because you fell off the roof at one thirty two o'clock in the morning at one thirty two o'clock in the morning. And just as that's happen, I see the porch light turn on. I'm like, oh, here we fucking go. Jill comes out. Sure, I'm just on the roof climbing. Then the porch light comes on. Jill's like, what the hell are you doing? What are you I'm gonna go up there and honey, I'm sick and tired of whatever's up there. The trap that we have on the roof is not working. It's not catching whatever this fucking thing is. I'm gonna go fucking kill it. This is the worst thing you could possibly be doing right now.

01:18:27
Speaker 2: What why?

01:18:28
Speaker 3: What is this gonna help?

01:18:30
Speaker 1: I had to hit earlier because you were laughing at me. Do me a favorite, Get back inside. I have a bloodluss that I can only be fed on varmit blood. I'm taking care of the problem, sweetheart.

01:18:45
Speaker 3: You said I'm a bad dad. What makes me a good dad? Take care of our problems? What's our problem? This fucking thing in our roof? And dude, I was like, in such a thought cycle of just kill get your head back inside oats side.

01:19:00
Speaker 1: Sure, just a neighbor like looking at the window, the porch slide on in the bag just like one day I do.

01:19:05
Speaker 3: I have a blue collar neighbor that works like kind of laid out in around like twelve when I was ripping the weeds out, his pickup truck slowly was coming into his driveway and he stopped in my yard one doing a Is that that?

01:19:19
Speaker 2: Okay?

01:19:19
Speaker 3: It is the neighbors, so like, no one's breaking into his house, but what the fuck is he? He does have a kid.

01:19:24
Speaker 1: I feel that he's just outside outside going crazy. Dude, dude, didn't kill the bat down.

01:19:35
Speaker 3: You got off the roof.

01:19:36
Speaker 2: I got off the roof.

01:19:37
Speaker 3: As we mentioned before, I sent you a picture of the baby raccoon that was in our trap. This morning found out the great news from the wildlife team that they had to release said baby raccoon back into our roof because really we wanted to catch the mama raccoon. So that problem's just still on going.

01:19:53
Speaker 2: So they're still there. Raccoons have made a home in your roof into that they couldn't let him out in the wild.

01:19:58
Speaker 3: No, had to be back in the room.

01:20:00
Speaker 2: It was too young because the.

01:20:02
Speaker 1: Mom of raccoon is in the roof and it was just a baby raccoon that they had called and they're like, oh, we can't do this. We need to get the mom out, so we gotta get the baby back with mama. Yeah, so they're both still in there.

01:20:13
Speaker 2: Oh yes, yeah. What's it called whenever you're living in an apartment and you're not paying, but you're like, you're living there illegally.

01:20:23
Speaker 3: Squatting?

01:20:24
Speaker 2: Squatting, yeah, squad.

01:20:26
Speaker 3: Yeah this. The raccoons are squatting at Shirrem's house right now. I just sent a picture to Chef of the baby raccoon. It's the cutest thing you'll ever see. I walk out this morning anything, I'm like, what the fuck is that? I didn't see it. I'm on the phone with the animal people, blah blah blah.

01:20:43
Speaker 1: So hang on, how are we getting the raccoons out? Because this is this is for Papa Team six. This is a classified document file that's going to now come across our desk that we have to extract the raccoon.

01:20:56
Speaker 3: Can I tell you my plan? Yeah, Carson with the Wildlife Team is awesome. However, Wildlife Team is expensive. I don't want to build up too much of an invoice to where when I then show said invoice to my landlord and say, hey, let's take this off next month's rain. I was taking care of this on the house. Blah blah blah that if it gets up to a certain number, I'm sure they're gonna be like, what the hell are you spending money on? Because the first service I paid for is like six hundred dollars.

01:21:26
Speaker 2: Jesus Christ, bro, I know.

01:21:29
Speaker 3: Here's the plan. Carson's gonna come on Monday. He's going to set up multiple traps. If we don't catch him by Wednesday with the multiple traps, then we are not going to move forward with said service. During these next couple of days, he said. It's imperative at night, and good thing I'm on the night shift to listen for noises because if I don't hear any noises tonight, I should go up on our roof during mid day because it's too hot for the raccoons up there. They will flee and go, you know, pillage and go get whatever food they need. During the day, I can go up and shut the enclosure, but you can't shut the enclosure when the raccoons are in there because they will die and then your house smells like dead animal. For like two months.

01:22:20
Speaker 1: I like this plan because the episode is releasing obviously today as people are listening on follow up on D Day. Yeah, that's so true. We can get a follow up on this mission.

01:22:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's you go ahead, you get an operation name.

01:22:40
Speaker 3: I like that, Operation trash Panda, Operation trash Panda.

01:22:47
Speaker 2: I like that.

01:22:48
Speaker 1: I was more of a going like Operation Raccoon of bin Laden.

01:22:53
Speaker 3: Oh.

01:22:54
Speaker 4: I like that.

01:22:58
Speaker 3: I I just want to say this, we gotta keep it under it now, we gotta keep it under an hour. I'm a I'm not fully a broken man. I am showing resilience from now on. The only takeaway, the only win was that I didn't.

01:23:21
Speaker 2: Argue back at Jill in that moment. That is the only takeaway. But if I could get.

01:23:27
Speaker 3: Your thoughts on how I handled the situation for what the whole thing? Like, what are my thoughts on that story? Yeah?

01:23:39
Speaker 1: I think, very bad move, very very bad move putting the headset on. Yeah, thinking after two and a half hours or two hours at Kroger again, to think the switch was just gonna happen and you're gonna throw on the headset.

01:23:56
Speaker 3: I know that was a very bad move. You should have done a couple of boys I'm running behind. I'm probably not going to get on tonight, you know what I mean?

01:24:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, Because like it's like you go home, you put the headset on when you're getting the mental lashing, and I've been there, trust me. Stuff stews in the boy's brain and I like lose composure with the wife, and in my brain, what happens is like when the lashings, we're going back and forth verbally, and then when she you know, if I were to hit the dog, I'm trying to think of how to say this, So, yeah, say the verbal ashes are going and I take it out on my dog. Yeah, when she goes upstairs and takes the baby. What goes on in my mind is more of like if I'm getting on the game, I'm getting on the game because I know I'm going to get another rise out of set situation, because I know it's honestly, it's a bad move to just get back to think like all right, they're all upstairs, I'm down here kind of cooling off thinking about what to do next.

01:24:56
Speaker 3: Your first thoughts.

01:24:57
Speaker 1: Should not be I'm gonna goon with the boys on pubg Yeah, should be calming down. It should be probably sending a sending a text to feel out where she's at, like, hey, hate how everything just went down.

01:25:14
Speaker 3: Would love the opportunity to come up and apologize and help take on and help get a get a second chance with Scotty, because I know you need your rest.

01:25:23
Speaker 1: And then there if you got Scotty not Scottie, I keep Scarlett to get Scarlett calm down, and then I can join the game if the moment still presents itself. But that would have been my suggestion, because I will be honest. When I was listening to you give every all the play by play on the headset, I'm thinking of myself, it's a bad move to be on.

01:25:48
Speaker 3: The game right now.

01:25:49
Speaker 2: Bad move.

01:25:50
Speaker 1: But I thought she was selfishly, I was happier on the game. You talk to me into getting on.

01:25:56
Speaker 3: I did so in my head.

01:25:57
Speaker 1: I'm like, sure wanted me to be on, and I told you, I told you I'm doing my back routine right now. If you could get on at nine o'clock, I'm on. Yeah, you're like nine fifteen nine thirty. I was like, no, no, no, because here's what you do. You'll say nine fifteen nine thirty. At least it's nine thirty. You'll probably be on at nine to fifty ten o'clock. You weren't even on nan and I remember being on the game like I knew I was right about sure, I'm not getting on here. So when you were on, you came in during a chicken dinner we won. We're excited for you to be on. But as you're telling the story, I'm like, this doesn't feel good. It felt like when you just spontaneously got off the game. It was reminded me of Jurassic Park, the opening scene when the velos Raptor takes Buddy.

01:26:38
Speaker 3: He's trapped in the cage with the Velociraptor. Yeah, shoot, and dude just like losing his grip like you were a goner.

01:26:45
Speaker 1: And when you got off, like I didn't even I didn't even have any questions about it because I'm like, yeah, I'm sure he's getting a validated lashing for being on the game.

01:26:57
Speaker 3: Got a text from jay Rod immediately after I think I talked. I might have said something like Adriie, would you feel comfortable.

01:27:05
Speaker 2: Reaching out?

01:27:06
Speaker 3: Told shirm, but that would be like you know, thinking listening back on all that, like that would be my advice to you yeah, like if wife, he knows you're gonna take thirty minutes, it happens to be two two and a half hours. You were about to take on night shift duty.

01:27:20
Speaker 2: Anyway, Yeah, I wonder where the fuck are you at?

01:27:22
Speaker 3: She sees you're giggling, goofing with j Rod with j Rod, I get that. I get that on her part. I get where she's coming from.

01:27:33
Speaker 1: And you know, don't condone in hitting your animal. But that was like the move in the setting.

01:27:38
Speaker 4: Yeah.

01:27:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes I look at Waffle like that's a sturdy bulldogs are sturdy.

01:27:42
Speaker 2: Now, yeah, Docsin's a little different. Yeah.

01:27:46
Speaker 3: Usually it's usually it's one popping on the button. You know, he's sorry, he starts minding. Yeah, and the pops are very rare. As I tell this song, I like, yeah, I sound like I'm blind with rage.

01:28:01
Speaker 1: You get that way, like again right wrong and different like that enraging blackout. That's what for the dads is for It's to not shy away, dude, we're fucking human beings. Rage fills our soul at times.

01:28:15
Speaker 3: Dude.

01:28:15
Speaker 1: I'll get in standoff with Waffle and it's it's fucking and I will I'll stand over her like this like to we all popper and like, you know, she'll try to get to me, but she's a bulldog, so she can't like reach your butt area where all like drag her or something, and she'll just like you know, she'll want to get like, oh, we're in it, and I'm like back to her peacocking up, like okay, yeah, you want to fight, you want to you want to stab at me, go ahead and try.

01:28:41
Speaker 2: And all that happens.

01:28:42
Speaker 3: I'll like I like stand over and just stand like this until she's like, you know, looking up me kind of like growling, and then she'll kind of like turn her walk away and I'll follow her. I'll follow her to the room. Or if she's like against the wall, stand over, fist.

01:29:02
Speaker 1: Clinch, you're in my house, waffle Yeah, don't you forget that? Yeah, which, which she's barking and I'm trying to get it in the room. It's like I will sit there and I'll dog walker like walker all the way to the room.

01:29:16
Speaker 3: And I've done the Caesar Milan mead where the you do the little that or the uh it's not a full pinch, but you let them know that you're on their neck. Yep. And you slowly push down and you just pretty much like you were describing, stand over them. Yeah, which is what I usually do with Wrigley because he's our alpha, and.

01:29:36
Speaker 1: You go a little harder because just there's so much rage filling your soul.

01:29:39
Speaker 3: Oh I bite my lip, I bite my lip. But that night I skipped all those steps and went and or usually I'll do one of these, I'll go to let them know, yeah, hey, that act could do that. Don't forget who the alpha is, and that will usually get them to be like, okay, yeah, I'm sorry, it happens.

01:29:58
Speaker 2: Man, dude, the text would been great. That's great advice. I will say this.

01:30:02
Speaker 3: The only thing that did come across my mind that was saying was uh, thinking back to your New York situation.

01:30:11
Speaker 2: And just being like, don't.

01:30:15
Speaker 3: Don't say anything that I will regret later. Yeah, because New York again, my body was filled with rage.

01:30:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, the darkest part of my soul to where you're like saying things verbally back and forth to where we're not getting nowhere, and I would just stay quiet, Oh you want to go to beding, I gotta go to bed angry.

01:30:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, so I bit the tongue there. How long we been going, Jeff, We're about thirty minutes, so, buddy, in terms of we go, yeah.

01:30:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, we got it.

01:30:42
Speaker 1: We gotta get into uh crack a cold one, crack a cold one. My crack a cold one. This week, buddy, it's I crack a cold one. To loving the videos and photos that you get sent when you or not home. The joy that fills my heart when I'm on the road or on the plane or at the shop. I got one today that, oh God, I want to show you, and it's just your little it's your little one, bro, it's your little nugget, your little booger, and they're like smiling or it's a video of them having fun.

01:31:21
Speaker 3: Or whatever it is.

01:31:22
Speaker 1: Dude, it fills your heart with so much joy, and I love it. Like anytime I'm around somebody and Chorro or Nanny like shoots me a photo or a video when I'm out of the house, like I'm just I'm over in a corner smiling. It's almost like you gotta step away just enjoy because it's like you're not trying to be the dead that shows everybody, but then you become the dead that shows everybody. Because you're so excited and you love it so much, like, hey, check this out. I went up to Jared earlier today because I got a video of Augy or Nanny just sending a video of little Rude just reading to Scotty. Scotty's sitting up now, she's army, crawling everywhere, but Rude just reading to Scottie.

01:32:18
Speaker 3: Send that to Chef because that we got to play that as you just showed me that. I send it right now for the viewers because that was crazy cute, buddy.

01:32:27
Speaker 1: It just it warms my and I'm sitting there like Jared, he just got dogs. He don't know what this Papa Team six life is.

01:32:32
Speaker 3: Like. He smiled and loved it.

01:32:35
Speaker 1: But you know what I mean, Like it's almost like if a dad's showing you something, you're smiling and being like, that's awesome.

01:32:39
Speaker 3: I don't know if he's like thinking that's really awesome. D you kind of just can't help yourself.

01:32:44
Speaker 1: But that's my crack of cold one is getting those videos and photos when you're out of.

01:32:49
Speaker 3: The house, because it's just you get it.

01:32:52
Speaker 1: You get when the dad's back in the day and you were little, they're showing you photos in their wallet.

01:32:58
Speaker 3: I love it. I love the stories of your dad playing the wrestling videos whenever his friends would come over, of you and your brothers.

01:33:06
Speaker 2: Oh like the same thing.

01:33:07
Speaker 1: Yeah he will and Cody, there's wrestling terminal, but we didn't want to come watch.

01:33:11
Speaker 3: My friend.

01:33:11
Speaker 1: We can't even get back to my room to play video games. I'm like, Dad, come on, dude, my buddy's trapped on the couch with my old man just watching a VHS recordings camera recordings. Yeah, you know, sitting Matt's side, just showing a wrestling matches.

01:33:28
Speaker 3: It's like the Jamis Winston story that I'm sure your dad's camera work is just horrendous. Like at the time, Yeah, my mom would be on the camera, my dad there, you get involved, like coaching wise, Oh my god, you're just stuck with the old man watching full tournaments of wrestling over the weekend. I cannot wait.

01:33:46
Speaker 1: Tell you what he looks. Take your shirt off, give him the most mustage, dude. My dad would be in front of his buddies. They'd be at the house in the garage, and I come out and like say something. They might be talking about either me playing sports or something. Yeah, yeah, and uh my dad would start talking, like start talking about my physique. It's like, well, pop off your shirt showing your most muscular, my dad, come on, take off your shirt showing the most muscular. And I'm like sitting there, like take off, like take from my shirt in front of my dad and his boys, and I'm just like, what are the the print saying yeah, Billy, you're right, you got my kid, Billy, all right, you can go back in the house like all right, oh my god, dude showing me you're back.

01:34:38
Speaker 3: And how old are you? Like jo Bro, Yeah, like eight nine, ten, God to be a fly on the one.

01:34:50
Speaker 1: And honestly, that flex is almost like a callback because there's so many of those old photos that would like my dad would like hang in his gym or like hanging around to where it's like me and Cody doing like the most muscular.

01:35:01
Speaker 3: You did it in that wrestling video that you posted. That's like my favorite part of that video is when you're standing before the match and your.

01:35:11
Speaker 1: We might have to have chef just run that clip for you right now watching just oh Willie see doing the fake cut driving the head. My dad's probably geek and watching this right now.

01:35:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, I selfishly, I cannot wait till Scarlett's like moving and operating and all I found myself doing.

01:35:35
Speaker 1: With room like sweeter, look at her calves like we might have a little athlete on her hands and her shoulders.

01:35:40
Speaker 3: Yes, that goes to my crack of cole one. The pediatrician appointment that we had, she did say for her size. She was like, I'm not just saying this. She is speisty as hell, like she is strong, and I'm like, okay, sir, And she's talking about the legs. I dabbled with a little bit soccer and track back in the day, and Jill actually has some track stars on her side of the family, like legitimate, like college level. I was not, but I had a little bit of speed. So hearing that, I'm like, ooh.

01:36:13
Speaker 2: Ooh, we like that.

01:36:15
Speaker 3: You don't.

01:36:15
Speaker 1: You just need another person to say, and then it kind of validates, like maybe yes.

01:36:19
Speaker 3: And she turned on her side, which she does all the time at the house. She turns on her side on the table, and everybody in the room was like, oh, she's turned on her side already. Oh my gosh. I don't. I don't know any different because I just know my warrior that's what they're saying. And she not only turned on her side right as they're like bragging about it, she then goes like up here and she's like looking with her eyes around the room and turned on the other side. And they were like, yo, that's crazy, Like that's crazy. Just as you're changing or just start working her legs, okay, so working some stretches, I'm like, I got a little striker. I got a little forward here, buddy, She's gonna be on the women's team. Come on. As she continues to develop that so like it gets exciting, I'm gonna put a soccer ball at her feet so fricking fast, dude, so fast. Yeah, and you just kind of put hey, you won't play the soccer one that okay, all right, you don't want to play yet, and you're just itching.

01:37:11
Speaker 1: You see what kind of ability they might have. So you know, she's spinning pretty well out there.

01:37:16
Speaker 3: That just put a gold in the backyard. What's that thing? What do you do with that?

01:37:19
Speaker 1: Put on the little blocks, like if you go to gymnastics, like putting out the little blocks and they're like balancing on each one or sep across each one.

01:37:26
Speaker 3: She's doing it a little bit better than the other.

01:37:28
Speaker 2: One's pretty good.

01:37:29
Speaker 3: I cannot wait is dou And then the crack that was basically my cracker col One, but just wanted to highlight it was so sick. Scarlet's tiny. She came out five pounds six ounces. Yeah, but she's two weeks old. Oh yeah, but just like tiny in general. I mean they were like, she is tiny. We go to the first appointment, she was five pounds one ounce and they're like, hey, normal for baby to lose weight in that first week. We want her back to five pounds six ounces at least. For an appointment, she clocked in at five pounds thirteen ounces, eight percent increase. And it's because Jill has just been a superhero on feedings every three hours on the clock, making sure she's getting milk, making sure And it's so cool in that moment to like see Jill to be able to like reap the rewards of that, and like, yes, I'm hard on Sherman and I want him to be attentive at night, but like these are the reasons why so that Scarlett is developing well, And like our pediatrician, doctor Stiegelfest is sitting there and going like a plus marks. Yeah, she's growing. She's great, huge win, huge win. Milk Team six is doing their job. Yeah, as they always do, as they always do. Survival kit, my survival kit. Once upon a Farm, Once upon a farm, snacks. We got a little food. They got pouches, Once upon a farm. Look them up, get them in your life. Let's see here, let's let's just go the dude.

01:39:03
Speaker 2: It's got a what's her name is it Jennifer Gardner?

01:39:07
Speaker 3: Really?

01:39:09
Speaker 2: Is that what I'm thinking of?

01:39:12
Speaker 1: Yes, she plays Electra, Yes, yes, yes, so she's part of it. They have an awesome team. Their website goes crazy, but all clean ingredients. It's like organic. They go beyond the organic standard, upholding the highest standard. Let me see here, let me see.

01:39:31
Speaker 2: Is crazy, like crazy in a good way.

01:39:34
Speaker 1: The leader in transparency for babies to big kids. Yeah, once upon a farm, though, that's what Scott. He's been crushing Once upon a Farm puffs. She just been hitting the I guess I'll say that for a survival kit later, yeah, next week or something. But she's been crushing food. Bro a little blueberries and you squash them and put them in front of her like she's operating with their hands. Scotty is Scott, he's operating, and rou was a bit more of a picky eater. Is that No, neither of them. Ru wasn't picky when she was like a baby. She's picky now they like get picky. Yeah, yeah, but she's been operating with these puffs, dude, she loves them. This once upon a farm.

01:40:20
Speaker 3: This looks sick.

01:40:21
Speaker 2: This looks sick.

01:40:22
Speaker 3: It's like in a little pouch for people that are listening. That looks squeezable.

01:40:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, the squeezable pouches. They got puffs and containers. They got little bars. That's survival.

01:40:32
Speaker 3: That's awesome. How about for you got to keep it under now, got to keep.

01:40:35
Speaker 2: It under an hour?

01:40:36
Speaker 3: Uh? Mine is very broad, but mine is a good diaper bag. It came in clutch when we went to the pediatrician the other day. Uh thing diturdy, A sturdy diaper bag and one that can load up everything that you would ever need, wipes, diapers, creams, lotions, blanket, maybe an extra set of clothes in there.

01:40:55
Speaker 2: Do you got the uh the little roll up at the bottom of the bag.

01:40:59
Speaker 1: Got the roll up for the blowout on the go, blowout on the go I'm telling you, in the back of the chevy where I have to drop the I've dropped the tailgate, laid out that little mat that they got in the backpacks.

01:41:10
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and I've yet to use it, but I've seen your posts on it, and I'm like, I know one day I'm gonna be using you.

01:41:16
Speaker 2: It's staring back at yeah.

01:41:19
Speaker 3: And then what Jill went the extra step and she had the individual bags inside the diaper bag are labeled on the bag. So one bag says wipes, other bags says diapers, another bag says you know whatever it's got in there. That's the ultimate dad hack of all time. I'm operating in that diaper bag like I'm mama Bear. Yeah. Love that.

01:41:42
Speaker 2: So that's yeah, that's my dad hack slash survival kid.

01:41:46
Speaker 1: My dad hack is how to get how to get your kids to eat vegetables. I came across the little dad hack a little w last night.

01:41:58
Speaker 3: Okay, and we're trying to get Rudy broccoli.

01:42:02
Speaker 1: She'll eat her main portions, she'll lead her fruit, ye, but getting her to get the veggies down has always been a pain point for us. But what I did last night is I'm sitting there trying to talk to her about broccol I'm like, sweetheart, you gotta eat all the different colors. Like green is like the most important color to eat. Green affects your you know, like your brain, your heart, your muscles, your hair. She's like your feet, like your feet too, your feet too, and everybody you take fills one of those checks off a box or one of that. Can we get you to eat if you eat five pieces of broccoli, We'll do one for your hair, one for your eyes, one for your brain, one for your heart, and one for your feet.

01:42:41
Speaker 3: Ooh she took them down. No way, yeah man.

01:42:47
Speaker 2: Yeah.

01:42:48
Speaker 1: And the next night, that was two nights ago. The next night she had broccoli again and she didn't want to eat it. She was in the pantry kind of be like, no, I want this snack, I want this. And I'm like, oh, she wanted her vitamins, because the vitamins it's like gummies or whatnot.

01:43:01
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, like a little treat.

01:43:03
Speaker 1: You can't have your vitamins until you eat your broccoli. And then you know, she's kind of going through it, and I had to remind her. I'm like, hey, sweetheart, what were the five things?

01:43:11
Speaker 2: Dad said?

01:43:11
Speaker 1: That broccoli or green helps with yeh. She's like, I don't know you say it. I was like remember the five things. I was like your hair, and then she was like my heart. I was like your heart, your eyes, your brain, and she's like at my feet, and I was like, you eat these couple of bites right here. We check all those boxes and we can get to your vitamins.

01:43:30
Speaker 3: Uh huh.

01:43:31
Speaker 2: So that is my little dag.

01:43:33
Speaker 1: Dad hack on how to get your kids to eat their vegetables is like naming the body parts or thing whatever might get them on board for like, hey, this is what you're helping out. This is how your body's going to operate better because you ate these vegetables.

01:43:49
Speaker 3: I love that because she's getting an understanding of like white food does as well. Yeah, it's not just to fill up your tummy. There's some nourishment there. Yeah, they have a role they do. This is how it helps you out. I love that you have all that pretty hair. You gotta keep feeding, you gotta keep eating your broccoli.

01:44:07
Speaker 2: I love that she's stuck on the feet though. Yeah.

01:44:09
Speaker 3: I love that she's like, no, but the feet too, oh yeah, oh yeah, the feet too. Goodness, Dad, Callins.

Let's I wanted to give a shout out to Sharon. I was listening to the latest episode when Sharon was talking about his wife asking how long the recording was gonna take, and I was in a similar situation myself. It's a few days after my baby girl was born. I was right before Father's Day, so I had to hop on with the boys talk about this new bundle of joy in my life. My wife asked me how long it was gonna take to record, I said, Sweetheart, it's only gonna take twenty minutes, twenty five tops, hop on, give a quick update, hop off. An hour later, goes by. I come out to screaming baby frozzle of five year old and a wife that was just staring a hole through my soul. The first thing she said was, I thought it was only going to be twenty minutes. Yep, we've all been there.

01:45:44
Speaker 3: We've all been there.

01:45:45
Speaker 4: Typical dad boss, that's okay, that's on me, hand up accountability looking back. So I've hopped on recording four days after my girl was born. Absolutely not. Do I regret spending quality dad time chopping it up with my best friends. Absolutely not. So Sharon hanging their brother and keep finding a good fight. We're alling the stuff together.

01:46:08
Speaker 3: Great call from a Poppa Team six member, right.

01:46:11
Speaker 2: There, great call.

01:46:13
Speaker 3: We've been there, We've been Hey, we've been there. At least you didn't hop on pubg you know right after the Yeah, at least like podcasting, it is the work, right Yeah.

01:46:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like when Scotti was born. Obviously I'm taking doing all the things to be at home, but it's like, Sweetart, we got to I got a couple of recordings, like I have to be at those, but have doing the podcast for however long we've been doing it. Yeah, she knows it might take a moment, but I'll give myself, you know, a cushion on when I could be home.

01:46:45
Speaker 2: For sure. We've all been in that spot.

01:46:47
Speaker 3: I'm in that spot right now. I told Jill one o'clock, and then I did a fabulous move of not hitting record earlier and now we're at one fifty. Yeah, Ciner, I was curious too if you had told Jill the time you'll be home, because I had to push we're you know, I was going to go look at a site, potential bus and move and I've had to push that back. I don't even know if I'll be able to get to it, but we've all been in those spots.

01:47:10
Speaker 1: It's like if I go to the gas station, charge like, what took so long, and I know in my head, I'll like say, you know, it's traffic, honey, these drivers, you know there's traffic at nine, eight thirty, nine o'clock at night.

01:47:23
Speaker 2: It's greaty.

01:47:23
Speaker 1: Sometimes I'll just be decompressing, like just in my truck, sitting out in the driveway.

01:47:27
Speaker 3: You do sit in your truck. Oh yeah, that's a will move. Yeah, that's so. That's a big time move for myself. Pull into the driveway. Just sit there, think about the mission at hand. That's a good h We had a graphic of like top data escape places and we have like toilet backyard, blah blah blah.

01:47:48
Speaker 2: Car is a good one though we didn't have that one. Car is a good one. A niche correct a niche. We'll get the spelling.

01:47:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll get the spelling from a niche. But thank you for the call.

01:48:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, a niece. Shout out you, bro, keep fighting. The good fight happens to the best of us.

01:48:05
Speaker 2: Happens to the best of us.

01:48:06
Speaker 3: In the podcast space Talking Dad issue, so also shout out there.

01:48:10
Speaker 2: Shout out just being a member of PT.

01:48:12
Speaker 3: Six and listening to us too. Yeah, you're a legend. Yeah, sweetheart, I trust me. I know.

01:48:17
Speaker 1: I was trying to get off in twenty five minutes. I was even telling the boys, Hey, I have a twenty five heart out. And then one of the boys he started breaking down and telling me something. He had something going on, and I had to be there for him. She listened to the pod and you were just geeking around that. But hey, you soften that moment that was happening.

01:48:32
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love that she was just staring a hole into his soul.

01:48:38
Speaker 2: Twenty five minutes huh as the kids are just crying. Oh yeah, second calling, Second calling.

01:48:53
Speaker 5: What's up boys, Will Schurm Chef. I'm calling from Columbus, Nebraska. My name's Cordell. I'm actually currently underneath my car trying to change the oil here, going to battle there good. I just wanted to give a shout out real quick. The chef sounds like he's the new producer of the show.

01:49:16
Speaker 4: That's awesome.

01:49:17
Speaker 5: Congratulations and then obviously shout out to Sherm for the new kid, and those shoutouts go in that order. By the way, I just got the text, boys, I just got the text from the wife. Her playing has officially taken off, and this Papa Team six member has checked in for the week, going solo dad duty for the one whole week.

01:49:42
Speaker 2: With my three year old girls.

01:49:44
Speaker 5: And I guess I was just wondering, Will is there any tips you have for an extended daddy daughter time solo dad time? Any tips or tricks, anythings that you turn to also additionally, forgot to mention, I'm all so, two time member of Semen Team six with a twelve week baby on the way, let's sake, go, let's go.

01:50:09
Speaker 2: He say three year old girls? Three year old girls? Oh singular oh, one girl on the way.

01:50:16
Speaker 3: Okay.

01:50:16
Speaker 1: I thought he might have said three year old girls like he had twins or something. So he's got one three year old girl that he's operating the entire week with.

01:50:23
Speaker 3: Yep, that's awesome. Number one.

01:50:26
Speaker 1: Hats off to Papa Team six member right there, two time Semen teams, two times Semen team, but.

01:50:32
Speaker 3: His wife going away for the week, and he's taken on the role, the caretaker role at home and being on the wall, being on the watch.

01:50:41
Speaker 1: I remember my first time when Charle went to Paris with her friends. She was going for like, yeah, either a week or nine days or.

01:50:49
Speaker 2: Something like that.

01:50:50
Speaker 1: She gone, gone, gone, gone, And it was dude, honestly, a uh, some parts are easier just solo parenting. Obviously he's checking out with the week. I don't know, like what work, childcare and stuff like that's involved. Yeah, but having the one on one time with your little ones, honestly, like, uh, it's a lot of fun because it's just you and he's a girl dad, so he's spending time with his daughter, Daddy daughter time. Obviously, I know the guys out there f sons and stuff like that, like, I'm sure that's great. Appreciate you guys briaging on that stuff. But your one on one time with your daughter is a load of fun. Like I'm sure he's listening right now. He's probably had a great week with her so far. They get in more of a routine with dad. She's about keeping that routine going. And my recommendation would be again I said it to you earlier, but videoing a lot of stuff. I know my first time watching ru, I videoed a lot of different stuff that we were doing, like going into a room stealers, see her smiling when she's waking up, putting her to bed, reading a story, when we're at the coffee shop. Uh, video on her at the coffee shop. She was only like, uh, she wasn't too yet, but videoing as much as I could because I put a little video together at the end of it. Because it's just you and her, it's like your all your attentions on her and gave me something kind of creative to do for when mom came home. But that's a great time. I feel like it's a great age too. Like if it was just me and Rufe for a week, I don't think it would be too I think it'd be fun. Like obviously keeping it on the routine of everything, but there's a lot of those wiggle rooms, those little gray areas that mom and dad might be strong on. But now that you're with dad, Hey, here's an extra piece.

01:52:21
Speaker 2: Of a cookie.

01:52:21
Speaker 3: Hey, I'll hook you up with this. Hey, let's go get some ice cream. Okay, you can stay.

01:52:26
Speaker 2: Up twenty minutes later.

01:52:27
Speaker 3: Hey there's something.

01:52:27
Speaker 1: Cool on TV now for dad. We got some we got a sport on. You want to watch your dad? You want to stay up a little bit longer, or let's pop on this movie. Yeah yeah yeah, but embrace it, dude, embrace it. That's I think that's cool.

01:52:41
Speaker 3: There was a video that you had, if I'm remembering correct, that charl had gone out of town and you're through you and you move some furniture like in your kitchen area for y'all to have like a little dance party.

01:52:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's some kind of little dance party. That you're throwing love.

01:52:55
Speaker 1: That Yeah, yeah, dude, it's just you know, it's like a lot of times too, like you might come across where it's like the mom doesn't trust the dad to be on his own.

01:53:03
Speaker 3: Uh huh.

01:53:04
Speaker 1: And so it's like a nice little badge of honor that you can watch the kids solo dolo, or you can watch the kids solo dol.

01:53:10
Speaker 2: And that I don't know if I talked about that on the low.

01:53:12
Speaker 1: The oldest part a prep for the meals, prep for the dinners, because now you'll be kind of stuck. Oh he ain't got this ordering something, just being ready. It's like, oh shoot, I got to order. You gotta give the right. So because the big thing you want is you want to alleviate mom while she is gone. You don't want to be the dad checking in every five minutes, Hey where's this at?

01:53:31
Speaker 2: Hey?

01:53:31
Speaker 3: What do I do here?

01:53:32
Speaker 2: Hey?

01:53:32
Speaker 1: What would you recommend here? I can't find this. She's giving me a tough time right now. No, let mom be fully out, be fully to where she's thinking. Is everything okay?

01:53:42
Speaker 3: Back home?

01:53:42
Speaker 1: And she wants to call and check in, Oh we're having a great time, or on FaceTime.

01:53:46
Speaker 3: You want mom to.

01:53:46
Speaker 1: Feel the full freedom of being away, and I feel like she has to be away and have her entire pulse on everything that's going on back home. Yeah, that's how you be prepared. That's how you knock it out of the park.

01:53:57
Speaker 3: It sounds like he's already in the thick of it, but I'm sure that he prepared and killed it. Yeah. I love that he's underneath his car too, calling us this guy is locked in.

01:54:06
Speaker 2: He's locked in.

01:54:08
Speaker 3: What was his name again, chef? Uh, I'll play the beginning card again, Cordell Cordel And that was that came in yesterday. So so he's day one as we're recording this, so so he'll still be in it. He's got a couple of days left. Let's go Cordel. Yeah, let's fucking go Cordell and shot out Nebraska.

01:54:30
Speaker 1: Always loved him. Chef might just be hey, here's in Nebraska one. Let's throw in movie.

01:54:36
Speaker 2: I think that's three weeks in a row. Yeah, not by design at all.

01:54:40
Speaker 3: Well, they call in not by design.

01:54:42
Speaker 2: And you're a big balls fan, that's a pretty easy yeah too.

01:54:45
Speaker 3: I did hear a Tennessee guy first one?

01:54:48
Speaker 4: What?

01:54:49
Speaker 3: Uh, what do we have left. We have our topic, quote or lesson of the week. Do you have one?

01:54:55
Speaker 2: I I did, and funny enough, it.

01:54:57
Speaker 3: Was, uh, just attention to detail, attention to the small things, and I was going to apply it to at home with my daughter, but it also applies to the office, as we learned today. To say, my meeting with Will for my mid year review at Busting with the Boys was there were a lot of good things to celebrate. But one of the things that since I was a kid, that I've struggled with is the attention to the details, the little things that you need to do right, because the big things can't happen if you aren't doing the little things right. Perfect example, publish a podcast online. You cannot do that if you do not hit the record button. Yeah, and so it's just a good reminder and it's funny that like that happened today and that that was also my plan. My lesson is attention to detail. I did not Will, we didn't record. We weren't recording for forty five minutes. You're gonna be late to you probably won't even get to do the showing of the commercial space. But that was my lesson for the week. It's a quick It's a small one but just I love it the attention to details.

01:56:11
Speaker 2: And with Scarlet it's a.

01:56:12
Speaker 3: Good reminder you can't ever say stuff like that enough. Yeah, with Scarlett, it is just being on track with like do we have enough diapers? Do we have enough wipes?

01:56:22
Speaker 2: Uh? Do we have enough? This?

01:56:24
Speaker 3: That just helping mom out because she can't do it all.

01:56:29
Speaker 2: That's my speed. Run.

01:56:30
Speaker 3: I love it.

01:56:31
Speaker 1: My uh my lesson or topic of the week comes from Saheel Bloom. Oh yeah, his new book Five Types of Wealth, and he has a partner called The Magic Years.

01:56:43
Speaker 3: Number one.

01:56:44
Speaker 1: If you're a parent, you're somebody who is ambitious, hardworking, juggle. Both things were perspective on life. This book I can't recommend enough. It is called Five Types of Wealth by Sahuel Bloom. And he's somebody who has a young one too around I want to say his son is around Rose. He might he might have two kiddos now, but he's someone who's that's like work life balance and having a lot of perspective. But there was this part of the book it's called the Magic Years. So I'm going to read this part of the book called The Magic Years for ten years you are your child's favorite person in the entire world. And after that children have other favorite people, best friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, partners, and eventually their own children. But during those ten years, you are everything to them. You occupy a unique place in their world, and it is during this period that the foundation for the parent child relationship so central to many people's social wealth, is built. It might be a strong foundation that is likely to last for decades, or a flimsy or a flimsy one that's likely to crumble in years. But there is one terrifying truth. By the time your children are eighteen, you've already used up the vast majority of the time you'll have with them. Unfortunately, we live in a society where children's early years coincide with their parents's peak working hours, travel, and other professional responsibilities. For many of us, these special years come and go in the blink of an eye, a blur of late nights in the office, meetings about meetings, emails at the dinner table, and weekend calls. In a viral Reddit post from May twenty twenty three, a user wrote a user wrote, twenty years from now, the only people who will remember that you worked late are your kids. Commenters responded with a motion filled posts such as the graveyard is full of irreplaceable and important people. And I've missed so many birthdays, plays and events for work and I can't even tell you why. I don't remember what I was working on. I can't tell you why it was important, but I can tell you how my not being there made my kids feel. I am of two minds on this. One being present and spending time with those you love is the most important thing in the end, and two, having the people you love see you work hard on things you care about is a principle they'll remember for the rest of their lives.

01:59:09
Speaker 2: Strong.

01:59:10
Speaker 1: I love this book, by the way, you know, I saw somebody somebody tweeted saying that he got the strong father's strong daughters a staple and the Papa six Papa six philosophy.

01:59:21
Speaker 2: If you're a girl dad for sure.

01:59:22
Speaker 3: Yeah.

01:59:23
Speaker 1: But I love five types of well see he'll bloom. And I love his kind of description of the magic years and how we are in them and how he him explaining also how hard it is because it's also as a young parent, your peak years of work, and some of those quotes that kind of give perspective on when you get to some endpoint or when they're grown and out of the nest of you know, I can't even tell you why I was at those events for work. I don't remember what I was working on. I can't tell you why it was important, but I can tell you me not being there, how it made my kids feel. Just those like little things that again help you grab any perspective on what you might currently be doing and how I might currently be operating to where I need to get this and check a little bit more. How can I structure this a little bit better so you juice out and take advantage of the magic years being young, being a young parent, embracing the fatherhood of it all. Yeah, with your wife, with your kids, just taking in those fleeting seconds and just trying to hold on to them a little bit longer, videoing everything, taking as many photos as you possibly can.

02:00:31
Speaker 3: Yeah.

02:00:34
Speaker 1: When I look at Scotty and I'm wanting to like journal things down that she's doing, I'm like kicking myself because I wish I would have done that more with Rue. Like I have some of Ruth's first like in my notes app. And it's like you think in the moment I'll remember to write this down, or I'll remember this because it was so glaring in this point in life. But you forget a lot of stuff. So it's like taking all of those moments in and then also having this perspective on how if you're somebody out there are struggling with like work life balance, hearing something like this of the Magic Years, and just reminding you of what life is about and how you can maybe course correct in a few.

02:01:10
Speaker 3: Areas several things from that lesson, I'm sure my dad would say there's a lot of things that he wishes that he could change about how he raised my brother and I, work being one of them. He felt like work really kind of took priority. However, yes, he could have put work to the side a bit more like in our years in high school, he would say that, But being at this age now and now having a daughter, I respect that that much more of just what he was able to provide for my brother and I and my mom, and like you don't see it because he's not at home, but being on that side now, it's like I know that there is love in that action of working hard and wanting to provide for your family. And wanting to do a good job, and uh, there is a balance to it. Like you said, there's like two schools of thoughts. U. S. Hill correct, So he'll there are two schools of thought. But I do think that it does show a tremendous amount of dedication and it's really cool, it's really respectable. But finding that balance, I'm sure that's hard, especially for you, dude, you travel so much. But I feel like you do a really good job of locking in when you're home, like you really it seems like that to me that you were prioritizing those moments. Yeah.

02:02:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's something that i'll like, uh, battle with because it's like a game, bro, we won't get these years back.

02:02:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I know, we're in the best times of our life right now. Work related, home related.

02:02:56
Speaker 1: It's like finding all of those all of those balance because even to your example with your dad, it's like thinking about my parents and having people that you love work hard on things that they care about is a principle that I remember. It's like thinking about my mom and dad and my dad being in between jobs and working hard to get another one and not being home a times because he had the higher salary, and it's like the way we had to kind of structure everything as a middle class or lower middle class family to make ends meet. You understand the love that goes into it, into that even though I know my dad probably has regrets that he wishes he would have been a part of more. Yeah dude, and will we will too?

02:03:36
Speaker 3: We will too, Yeah, yes, yeah we will as well. But it's just like those.

02:03:42
Speaker 1: Those perspective things on knowing, like it's like that's why, Like for myself personally, what I challenge myself on is what I'm wanting to say yes to, so that way everything else I can just say no to, like it's an easy decision versus sitting in like yeah, some opportunities will be like yeah, this is a big opportunity, need to take this opportunity.

02:04:02
Speaker 3: In others where it could just be like we can relate it and it's like do I need this?

02:04:06
Speaker 2: Is this more?

02:04:07
Speaker 3: Because a lot of it too in the work related stuff, it's like selfishly, you love your work, you love doing all of these things, and we have a fun job and we have a fun job, but it's like, hey, do I need to do this and is this going to actually move the needle, or am I just wanting to do this selfishly? Am I wanting to do this just to get away or whatever it is? Sometimes it might be that way, and that's like a good communication with my wife, like hey, I need to go, I need to do something, or I need to go get out or whatever it is. Oh buddy, he was talking about Dennis Rodman weekend. But it helps me compartmentalize. It helps me compartmentalize a lot of those things that I can easily say no to and be like, yeah, I don't care to do that, Like that would be fun, but I'd rather be home because dude, he talks about ten years, and you can break the numbers down however you want, but it's like, in those ten years, that's what. But once one summer per year, that's forty summers. Yeah, when they're little and you have them all to.

02:05:09
Speaker 1: Yourself and they think you're an absolute superhero, let's just say five, right, five summers that you have five potential opportunities to go on summer vacations.

02:05:17
Speaker 2: You know.

02:05:19
Speaker 3: You'll feel this having a scarlet as how old is she two weeks Scottie?

02:05:26
Speaker 2: Is it?

02:05:26
Speaker 1: She's eight months old? And so she's eight months old for this moment in time. They grow fast, Like you were saying, you saw the picture of a newborn in three month old, and it's like they're just different people. They grow fast, and there's such fun moments in those when you're checking off eight months, nine months, ten months. It's like, Rue, I can remember when her personality was coming to life in sixteen months, when her personality was coming to life at month sixteen. There's only four weekends that she's going to be sixteen months old, and each chapter is something different, and that's like how I try to compartmentalize it in my brain when breaking down all these things is like some things we're just gonna.

02:06:03
Speaker 4: Have to do.

02:06:03
Speaker 3: This is what This is what we do with bustling with the boys, this is how it works, gonna have to be in these house.

02:06:08
Speaker 1: But everything else, it's like I try to have that perspective of you know, she's only going to be two for one year, She's only going to be this three year old, this three major year.

02:06:19
Speaker 3: When I just want to for one year, you know what I mean, and then it's gone.

02:06:24
Speaker 1: It's fleeting, yeah, And I never want to be in a spot when I'm looking back, like, fuck, I why did I go and do this? When it's like I look at Scotty and I have so much more appreciation of like living in her eighth month old body right now, because I remember how fun it was with Rue, and I'm experiencing new things with Scotty at eight months old, and I feel like I have more of an appreciation in those moments because it's like the perspective of she's only going to be eight months old for one month, so befour weekends we have with her in this age, and I want to and you want to take advantage.

02:06:59
Speaker 3: If this scores you points at home, I hope it does. But you can see it written all over you in Taylor as well. Whenever we are traveling, you guys get homesick and I've all buddy, and I've yet to experience that because i haven't had to travel for work yet with Scarlett here now. But I I feel it even in moments like this, of like, you do want to be home, and so I do think on the other side of it, like the work side of it, it does show your love that much more that it's like, hey, we have to do these things right.

02:07:34
Speaker 1: You're t like you're subconsciously wiring in their brain when you commit to something and you want something and you're ambitious for something, like staying on course and showing that resilience, showing that perseverance. Yeah, and that working just that working attitude about it, Yes, because it shows that too. It's like we're obviously gonna get old and we're all gonna wish we spent every moment at home. Oh yeah, dude, but that's just like that comes with it. But you're right, it's like you're we get on the road and going at football season this year, in spring tour and stuff next year. It's like, now we're in a spot to where we're healthy in such a way to where it's like I want us to fly private so that way we can squeeze every.

02:08:14
Speaker 3: Moment, Like how can we leave the day of and also come back to the day up.

02:08:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're not stuck figuring out all these different flights, the lace happen, all these other things out rooms, yeah, hotel rooms.

02:08:24
Speaker 3: It's like how do we get in and get out as quickly as possible. That comes at a cost, It comes at a big cost.

02:08:28
Speaker 1: But it's like when we're making this, it's like, hey, we can just cut this chunk out and be like, we're doing this because we want the full priority being how do we be efficient and maximize our opportunities with these things with busting, but also maximize and be efficient with our opportunities at home to be with our family.

02:08:45
Speaker 3: Well in the power of no too, like to just bring it to myself of yet another thing I can learn what we talked about my mid year review of like that is something I struggle with so badly. Stop saying yes to so many things I say behind everything, and I gotta work on saying no because like that will come in the way of me spending time with Jill and with Scarlett. Yeah, and being able in those moments to be like, hey, I can't go on that golf trip. That sucks.

02:09:18
Speaker 2: I see all the pictures. They look like they're having a blast.

02:09:21
Speaker 3: Wish I could be doing that, But I'm doing something incredible in this moment too, like my daughter's coming into the world later this month or whatever. There was a great wedding. One of my close friends shout out andre that it was out of the country. Would have loved to be there, And you see all the pictures, you're like, oh man, but it's also like, hey, we're doing something big here too. It's stuff.

02:09:48
Speaker 1: It's like, I think the nature in all of us is we're all you know, we want We're like people pleasers, right, I want to please everybody. And then you realize when you're trying to please everybody, you see where you can't pour into the things that you absolutely prioritize in your life, and you see how it affects that, and then you feel so spread thin and stressed about it when it's like, Okay, let's just think about the things that I want to do. How can I prioritize this? How can I structure it? And then that helps you say no, you understand, like where your boundaries are.

02:10:17
Speaker 3: Yeah.
