<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, Welcome to Gay Mess Mornings presented by Geku
<v Speaker 1>Deals with Me Jeff Grubb, your host from Giant bomb
<v Speaker 1>dot com. Thank you for tuning in. In this episode,
<v Speaker 1>we're going to be talking about anything but football, anything
<v Speaker 1>that Zelda movie looking good, and Concord the game's so
<v Speaker 1>nice they shut it down twice.
<v Speaker 2>Anything.
<v Speaker 1>It's gonna be a good one because you have jasphon
<v Speaker 1>Elli on the show. Jason, how are you doing?
<v Speaker 2>I am doing great, First and foremost, before any shit
<v Speaker 2>talking commences. Congratulations to you and the team for a
<v Speaker 2>very successful Extra life stream.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you, Thank you for your donations.
<v Speaker 2>Jason was able to tune in for a little bit
<v Speaker 2>on Saturday night, jumped into a fall Guy session that
<v Speaker 2>immediately got bounced out because I have out held that
<v Speaker 2>game in a very long time. I did find it
<v Speaker 2>interesting that Dan did not know of all the wwe
<v Speaker 2>UH crossovers that they've done, like Mankind's in there, Undertaker's
<v Speaker 2>in there, Oscar's in there, and one of the taunts
<v Speaker 2>is the old trombone for Xavier. Was brant that I'm
<v Speaker 2>surprised he didn't know any of that because he's always like,
<v Speaker 2>is that Mankind whoa. I thought he would know. Ye,
<v Speaker 2>a lot of w W going on there, but no,
<v Speaker 2>you guys did great. Congratulations to y'all, like a lot
<v Speaker 2>of funk you good time. But yeah, that suddenly the
<v Speaker 2>Eagles defense has decided they want to be the best
<v Speaker 2>defense in football and I am not.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it was, it was, and it was.
<v Speaker 1>It really hit us at a time where the offensive
<v Speaker 1>line has kind of continued to deteriorate just a little
<v Speaker 1>bit each each week, and uh, it really was bad.
<v Speaker 1>I was also very tired, and so I kind of
<v Speaker 1>was falling asleep during the games. I had not I
<v Speaker 1>had not slept since before the start of the of
<v Speaker 1>the marathon because.
<v Speaker 3>I we went.
<v Speaker 1>I basically got in bed for half an hour at
<v Speaker 1>Dan's house before I had to leave for the airport,
<v Speaker 1>and then I was traveling all day.
<v Speaker 3>Got home and then and then I could I didn't
<v Speaker 3>want to like fall.
<v Speaker 1>Asleep in the in the middle of the afternoon, and
<v Speaker 1>so it's kind of just doing some stuff around the house.
<v Speaker 1>And it was an evening game. That was That was
<v Speaker 1>a good one to fall asleep during. I'll tell you that.
<v Speaker 2>I sure was the defensive struggle perfect no struggles for
<v Speaker 2>you falling asleep on that one.
<v Speaker 1>Definitely not Yeah, absolutely, but yeah that was your team's
<v Speaker 1>looking pretty good looking ready. I mean, listen, I get
<v Speaker 1>the if you have to have a good offense or
<v Speaker 1>good defense.
<v Speaker 3>I think I know.
<v Speaker 1>Right now which one I'm choosing, and it's a good defense.
<v Speaker 1>So I think you guys will figure out everything else.
<v Speaker 1>On the offense, you still have all the tools. You'll
<v Speaker 1>be just fine. The whole line is still real good.
<v Speaker 2>It's too much drama. The all line can't stay healthy.
<v Speaker 2>But luckily our backups have been stepping up. But the
<v Speaker 2>offense is if I have to hear a J. Brown drama,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, second more, I'm gonna lose my mind. I know.
<v Speaker 2>It's what the ride receivers do. I get it, I know.
<v Speaker 2>And so much of it is fueled by the sports
<v Speaker 2>radio stations in this town, the relics of a bygone
<v Speaker 2>age that they are the drama churning. I can say
<v Speaker 2>a lot, but we're nine and two and you're eight
<v Speaker 2>and two, whatever it is, and you would think that
<v Speaker 2>they're the worst team in football on a Monday morning.
<v Speaker 2>I don't understand. Yeah, that's so.
<v Speaker 3>We'll move on real quick.
<v Speaker 2>For this.
<v Speaker 1>Everybody but just side that, that's the roughest thing is
<v Speaker 1>the records. You know, the Lions we came in the
<v Speaker 1>season is supposed to be, you know, the top of
<v Speaker 1>the class in the NFC.
<v Speaker 3>North Chicago Bears number one in the division.
<v Speaker 2>I'm sorry, buddy, we're buying Green Bay as well. It's
<v Speaker 2>it's it's rough out here. And then see them Black Friday.
<v Speaker 2>I think they're Chicago Bears.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, well we will see them. Oh you see them
<v Speaker 1>black Folk. Yeah, we play Green Bay on Thanksgiving, So
<v Speaker 1>we'll go from there. All right, let's just get into everything.
<v Speaker 1>But everybody, so we don't have to talk about this
<v Speaker 1>anymore and explain ourselves. We're Giant Bomb, Giant bomb dot
<v Speaker 1>com slash joined and become a premium member.
<v Speaker 3>What does that do it? Sports?
<v Speaker 1>Your video game dufis is who are independent out here
<v Speaker 1>on our own on the internet making fun video game
<v Speaker 1>content kind of stuff that that it felt like it
<v Speaker 1>should have been part of a bygone area because corporations
<v Speaker 1>decided they didn't want to support it anymore.
<v Speaker 3>Well, we don't want their sport.
<v Speaker 1>We have yours or instead, and we are super thankful,
<v Speaker 1>grateful even that you are out there making sure that
<v Speaker 1>we can continue to do what we do that does
<v Speaker 1>enable us to do things like go raise fifty thousand
<v Speaker 1>dollars for children's hospitals. That's the kind of thing where
<v Speaker 1>it's like it would be hard to justify that any
<v Speaker 1>other way. So very very happy to kind of be like,
<v Speaker 1>you know what, we got ours, let's make sure everyone
<v Speaker 1>else gets theirs.
<v Speaker 3>And that's all because of you all.
<v Speaker 1>And we know you're out there, We see you here
<v Speaker 1>in chat, we see on the comments, and we just
<v Speaker 1>appreciate everyone who's come through and actually gone to giant
<v Speaker 1>bomb dot com, slash joined, became a premium member, and
<v Speaker 1>put their money where their mouth is. If if you
<v Speaker 1>can't do that, though, just tell a friend about the show.

<v Speaker 3>Hello YouTube, Hello YouTube, and can.
<v Speaker 2>I hit you with some breaking news right here?
<v Speaker 3>Let's do it. Jason Bonoli, what do you got for me?
<v Speaker 2>Xbox Partner Preview Thursday November twentieth, ten am Pacific, one
<v Speaker 2>pm Eastern confirmed. The show will include news and upcoming
<v Speaker 2>games from partners including Io Tencent and TEJQ Nordic, plus
<v Speaker 2>some brand new reveals and Xbox Game pas announcements. All
<v Speaker 2>the shows feature games Double Seven, First Light, Tithes of Annihilation,
<v Speaker 2>re Animal, and more. Are Xbox Play Anywhere so you
<v Speaker 2>can enjoy any every single one of them across console,
<v Speaker 2>PC and supporting gaming handhelds with one copy of the
<v Speaker 2>game on all YouTube and Twitch. More information on Xbox
<v Speaker 2>by email. Hit As you were giving that intro.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I had, I was. There were some stirrings in
<v Speaker 1>one of my and my dms this morning. I could
<v Speaker 1>see in the notifications that this might have been happening,
<v Speaker 1>and then I wants to go check it. It was
<v Speaker 1>on Blue Sky and it's like, yeah, you can't check
<v Speaker 1>your DM in to think give us your I'm like
<v Speaker 1>VPN later and check on this, but also it feels
<v Speaker 1>like this might get announced.
<v Speaker 3>So here we are.
<v Speaker 1>I you know, early word is, don't expect the world
<v Speaker 1>from this showcase, but you know, these things are always like,
<v Speaker 1>there's probably gonna be a couple of games in there
<v Speaker 1>for you, and if there's not, there's already plenty of
<v Speaker 1>stuff to play. Finelle, what are you expecting from a
<v Speaker 1>showcase like this at this time of year, located entirely
<v Speaker 1>inside of an Xbox showcase?
<v Speaker 2>A lot of this is an Xbox or Play Anywhere
<v Speaker 2>or Day one game pass, whatever the hell those mean anymore,
<v Speaker 2>but not a whole lot considering three weeks later is
<v Speaker 2>the Game Awards, right, So even if even games that
<v Speaker 2>may appear at both, they're not gonna you might even
<v Speaker 2>see some trailers say this is a little teaser for
<v Speaker 2>what watch the Game Awards in three weeks, right, because
<v Speaker 2>I believe at the end of the show noon Eastern
<v Speaker 2>is when the nominations are announced. So yeah, you might
<v Speaker 2>see some people start to play at the seed here
<v Speaker 2>for three weeks from now. Don't expect too much.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean, I'll read this this quote here.
<v Speaker 1>You didn't read all this right when you were going
<v Speaker 1>through that during Xbox part okay, cool. During Xbox Partner Preview,
<v Speaker 1>will show you an exciting first look at content coming
<v Speaker 1>to Double O seven First Light. That's the io that
<v Speaker 1>you mentioned in electrifying extended gameplay trailer for the upcoming
<v Speaker 1>dark fantasy epic Tides of Annihilation, and a fresh look
<v Speaker 1>at re Animal, the new horror adventure from the creators
<v Speaker 1>of Little Nightmares, among other great games heading to Xbox consoles,
<v Speaker 1>Xbox on PC, and Xbox Game Pass. Xbox says additionally,
<v Speaker 1>all the games featured during Xbox Partner Preview are Xbox
<v Speaker 1>Play Anywhere, which means you can play you can enjoy
<v Speaker 1>every single one of them across console, PC and supported
<v Speaker 1>gaming handhelds with just one copy of the game.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>A lot of those sound like the kinds of things
<v Speaker 1>that will, you know, show up here, And you're right,
<v Speaker 1>I think we'll see a lot more of them at
<v Speaker 1>the Game Awards, especially Double O seven First Lights. That is,
<v Speaker 1>when is that out? That's like relatively early next.
<v Speaker 2>Year, I believe I want to say February or March,
<v Speaker 2>but I forget that right now, and is more twenty
<v Speaker 2>six Yes, so.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's exactly the kind of thing like the Io
<v Speaker 1>Interactive seems like they're kind of working with everybody rightfully, so,
<v Speaker 1>you know, a studio out there on their own, so
<v Speaker 1>they're finding their partnerships where they can. And then I
<v Speaker 1>still think that game primarily gets its last big parade
<v Speaker 1>this year at the Game Awards. So yeah, I'll look
<v Speaker 1>forward to this. I'll watch this. We might even find
<v Speaker 1>a way to talk over it. Let's see what time
<v Speaker 1>is it happening one pm Eastern on Thursday?
<v Speaker 3>Is that Thursday? Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so we might able to make that happen and
<v Speaker 1>talk about whatever games come out of there. There are
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty six first party games, right, this is a
<v Speaker 1>partner preview, right, so we're right, we shouldn't be expecting
<v Speaker 1>anything from Forts Horizon six, Gears of War, e Eday,
<v Speaker 1>Halo Campaign Evolved, or Fable right, correct.
<v Speaker 2>Traditionally these are I have to go back and look
<v Speaker 2>at the last partner preview they did, but I don't
<v Speaker 2>think they go too crazy with other companies, so with
<v Speaker 2>their games, I think it's just stuff that from their
<v Speaker 2>third party partners. I would not expect anything nuts. Okay,
<v Speaker 2>So October was October twenty twenty four. The last one.
<v Speaker 2>Has it been a year?
<v Speaker 3>It feels like it's been a minute since a partner preview. Wow.
<v Speaker 2>So this one had Alan, Wake to the Lake House,
<v Speaker 2>Animal Well, Blind Fire, Kronos, the Nude On. Yeah, all
<v Speaker 2>third party stuff, Fire Break, Like a Dragon, Pirate Yakaza,
<v Speaker 2>which I sometimes forget exists. I don't know why. I
<v Speaker 2>love that game, Fastmophobia, Subnaudica two, so on and so forth.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, I wouldn't I wouldn't go. I wouldn't put
<v Speaker 2>too much faith in first party stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, yeah, I certainly wasn't in like chants like it's
<v Speaker 1>called partner preview.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I get. I just want to point out they
<v Speaker 3>have a lot.
<v Speaker 1>Of games coming out next year Microsoft, if if, if
<v Speaker 1>we are to believe that Forts, a Rise at six,
<v Speaker 1>Gears of for e Day, Halo Campaign, Campaign Evolved, and
<v Speaker 1>Fable will all make it out next year. Now, I
<v Speaker 1>think we can expect Forts and Gears and Halo Fables,
<v Speaker 1>maybe the question mark still, but that you know, they
<v Speaker 1>canceled a bunch of stuff.
<v Speaker 3>They did not cant Soul Fable.
<v Speaker 1>That is something that you know they could have easily
<v Speaker 1>done when they were canceling the Perfect Darks of the world,
<v Speaker 1>so like, you know, we are pretty close to that.
<v Speaker 1>So hey, they had a pretty decent year in terms
<v Speaker 1>of releasing games and supporting game Pass, you know, price
<v Speaker 1>increases notwithstanding over there at Xbox. If all these games
<v Speaker 1>come out and they're you know, decent to great, that
<v Speaker 1>they could have another good year of content, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they could, but it really doesn't matter if they're
<v Speaker 2>going to keep you know, the rest of the pr
<v Speaker 2>nightmare that happens around them, whether it's the continued support
<v Speaker 2>of what's going on overseas or it's the new thing
<v Speaker 2>that I think we'll get into in a little bit
<v Speaker 2>with Black Ops seven and the nice little addition that
<v Speaker 2>nobody asked for going on there. They they can put
<v Speaker 2>out all the content they want, but until they get
<v Speaker 2>their you know, public facing affairs in order, it doesn't
<v Speaker 2>really much matter. All right, Well, we'll.
<v Speaker 1>Continue talking about the yeah, all that's stuff here in
<v Speaker 1>a little bit, and yeah, it's worth plating out. Microsoft
<v Speaker 1>still a target of the BDS boycott call due to
<v Speaker 1>their support for what is happening in Gaza that you know,
<v Speaker 1>they've claimed to pull back on that, but the boycott
<v Speaker 1>has not been ended. All right, let's get back into
<v Speaker 1>our regular rundown here. Everyone spent the weekend freaking out
<v Speaker 1>about Metroid Prime four. That previews went up. We did
<v Speaker 1>talk about it on Friday show, so we won't go
<v Speaker 1>over too many of the details of those previews again.
<v Speaker 1>But I was wondering, like, you know, people have maybe
<v Speaker 1>had a weekend to digest this, Jason, maybe you were
<v Speaker 1>paying attention to it, maybe you weren't, Maybe you put
<v Speaker 1>it out of your mind. Kind of I did, certainly,
<v Speaker 1>because I'm like, this is just noise at this point.
<v Speaker 1>None of this sort of like a wrenching of our
<v Speaker 1>garments is going to do much for me when it
<v Speaker 1>comes to whether or not I'm going to enjoy Metroid
<v Speaker 1>Prime four.
<v Speaker 3>How are you feeling about all of it?
<v Speaker 1>Specifically, it is this character Miles McKenzie, who is a
<v Speaker 1>bumbling idiot early in the game, and he kind of
<v Speaker 1>also points to Samus and says, hey, there's a puzzle
<v Speaker 1>over here.
<v Speaker 3>Why didn't you see this thing?
<v Speaker 1>People are worried about that, and I don't necessarily blame them,
<v Speaker 1>but also we haven't played the game, so how.
<v Speaker 3>Are you feeling.
<v Speaker 2>That's exactly right. I'm going to quote the venerable some
<v Speaker 2>call me Johnny on Blue Sky, I'm thinking nothing until
<v Speaker 2>I actually play the game. I don't have an opinion.
<v Speaker 2>I wasn't in the previews. I didn't hear it. I
<v Speaker 2>don't know how bad it is. That type of thing
<v Speaker 2>doesn't normally bother me, Like the whole Aloy thing, I
<v Speaker 2>didn't care. Like I grew up with Navi, I grew
<v Speaker 2>up with FEE. I'm used to this stuff, and I
<v Speaker 2>understand why they do it, because they're fighting a war
<v Speaker 2>for attention spans and to keep people's attention focused. You
<v Speaker 2>might sometimes some people just need to think people screaming
<v Speaker 2>what's going on at them. So until I see this dude,
<v Speaker 2>I may like this guy. I may I may hear
<v Speaker 2>his voice, but like, you know what, I kind of
<v Speaker 2>like having this companion. Is it Metroid? No, the whole
<v Speaker 2>point of Metroid is isolation. But if he's adding something
<v Speaker 2>to the game for me, what the hell do I care?
<v Speaker 2>How much? If he's talking a lot, he may point
<v Speaker 2>something out that I would have missed, which I think
<v Speaker 2>is a good thing. If I'm going to miss it.
<v Speaker 2>Then if he say, hey, look over there, don't make
<v Speaker 2>sure you don't miss that, that could help me in
<v Speaker 2>the long run. Sure, and if he starts out as
<v Speaker 2>a bumbling idiot and maybe he has some sort of
<v Speaker 2>character arc where at the end he's a little more efficient,
<v Speaker 2>that's just one more storytelling vehicle. I don't carell I
<v Speaker 2>see it in front of me. I think the gameplay
<v Speaker 2>is more important. I think the experience of the game
<v Speaker 2>is more important. And right now, based on the limited
<v Speaker 2>things I've seen, I'm feeling okay, pretty good. You know,
<v Speaker 2>it's I'm a little a little hesitant, but no, it
<v Speaker 2>doesn't buy that much.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think everything about the way the game looks
<v Speaker 1>and plays looks right.
<v Speaker 3>I do get a little.
<v Speaker 1>Bit worried about him pointing out the like missing something,
<v Speaker 1>just because that is so antithetical to Metroid for me specifically.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, I think my thing here is if it's
<v Speaker 1>if this is meant to establish a like a set
<v Speaker 1>of verbs for the world, and he's there to help
<v Speaker 1>you like latch onto those early on, and then he
<v Speaker 1>fades into the background, I have no no, I probably
<v Speaker 1>will have no issue with that if they kind of
<v Speaker 1>like have a series of characters that serve that role.
<v Speaker 1>I'll be a little bit like more disappointed. But you know,
<v Speaker 1>maybe I will, I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>You're right. I have to play it. I have to
<v Speaker 3>play it to find out.
<v Speaker 1>I'm on both sides of this, and then I see
<v Speaker 1>why people are anxious about it. I see why they're
<v Speaker 1>they're worried, especially for a game that has been so
<v Speaker 1>long in the making, and it's been a long time
<v Speaker 1>since Metro a Prime three, So I get it. But
<v Speaker 1>there it is also very frustrating to see one tidbit
<v Speaker 1>of the game and then have everyone's imaginations extrapolate that
<v Speaker 1>into something else. I don't think this character is going
<v Speaker 1>to be a novve. I don't think. I don't think
<v Speaker 1>that's how it's going to work. I think he is
<v Speaker 1>there to provide mostly a contrast between Samus and the
<v Speaker 1>kinds of people that are in the Galactic Federation, and
<v Speaker 1>to be like, this is why Samus's world is, you know,
<v Speaker 1>famous across the galaxy.
<v Speaker 3>And he even like says that.
<v Speaker 1>At a point in the preview, and he's like everyone
<v Speaker 1>knows her and it's because she is this stoic, wordless uh,
<v Speaker 1>just death machine, and and she really feels like that
<v Speaker 1>when she stands next to him. So you know, I
<v Speaker 1>have still a lot of faith in retro and the
<v Speaker 1>kinds of people that work there. I know that that
<v Speaker 1>that studio has grown a lot and changed a lot
<v Speaker 1>over the years, but they seem to have a pretty
<v Speaker 1>you know. I think the reason they went back and
<v Speaker 1>redid Metroid Prime one was to sort of really refamiliar
<v Speaker 1>refamiliarize themselves with that world and with the character. And
<v Speaker 1>I think they're going to try to take as much
<v Speaker 1>of that and put it into this game as possible,
<v Speaker 1>and then we'll see how all these other characters interact
<v Speaker 1>with Samu's going forward.
<v Speaker 3>It's it's a couple of.
<v Speaker 1>Weeks out right, we're gonna play. We're gonna know for
<v Speaker 1>ourselves here very very soon.
<v Speaker 2>One more thing from chat. It's actually a pretty cool
<v Speaker 2>idea for we're introduced to all these characters and the
<v Speaker 2>reason they stop interacting with you is because they die,
<v Speaker 2>and that creates the isolation at the end. Yes, that's
<v Speaker 2>an interest concept, yep.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Or like you know, if they are working together and
<v Speaker 1>it's like there is a problem here and it's like
<v Speaker 1>Samu's got brought in by the Galactic Federation and they're
<v Speaker 1>like we need to call in Samus to help us
<v Speaker 1>with this thing and to maybe save these people then,
<v Speaker 1>and then halfway through the game, the GLAC Federation's like,
<v Speaker 1>you know what, we're washing our hands of this. We
<v Speaker 1>don't care anymore, the morality of it, we don't. We
<v Speaker 1>don't care, and Samu's is stuck there on our own
<v Speaker 1>being like, oh great, now I have to do the
<v Speaker 1>right thing. They called me here to do a job
<v Speaker 1>to get paid, and now I feel like I have
<v Speaker 1>to see this through because it means something to me.
<v Speaker 1>Now that could be awesome. We'll see.
<v Speaker 2>You know.
<v Speaker 1>We are definitely, you know, sort of doing some fantasy
<v Speaker 1>booking here, but that's all we can go on. And
<v Speaker 1>really it's fantasy booking versus anxiety sort of taking over.
<v Speaker 1>It's like you can have both a little bit, and
<v Speaker 1>I think that's what we're just trying to offset the
<v Speaker 1>balance with here.
<v Speaker 3>All right, don't worry.
<v Speaker 1>Resident Evil Requiem won't have PC woes like Monster Hunter
<v Speaker 1>Wilds did, according to Capcom. This is from Ed Nightingale
<v Speaker 1>at Eurogamer. Capcom is working to ensure Resident Evil Requiem
<v Speaker 1>will perform well on PC following a multitude of technical
<v Speaker 1>issues this year with Monster Hunter Wilds. The company has
<v Speaker 1>been heavily criticized for the performance of Wilds through it,
<v Speaker 1>though it acknowledged those issues. A free update is due
<v Speaker 1>on December sixteenth, something players have been waiting for for
<v Speaker 1>the majority of the year. It seems Capcom has learned
<v Speaker 1>its lesson, though, and will ensure that Resident Evil Requiem
<v Speaker 1>won't suffer a similar fate. Resident Evil Requiem differs from
<v Speaker 1>Monster Hunter Wilds in terms of gameplay, systems, architecture, architecture,
<v Speaker 1>and network features, said Capcom during a Q and A
<v Speaker 1>session for its latest earnings report. At president, we do
<v Speaker 1>not anticipate similar risks. We are developing the game to
<v Speaker 1>provide a smooth gaming experience across a wide range of
<v Speaker 1>PC specifications. It wasn't just Wilds, it was Dragon's Dogma
<v Speaker 1>two as well, and this is like always positioned as
<v Speaker 1>the third game and that development trilogy of them trying
<v Speaker 1>to open up the ORI engine.
<v Speaker 3>To do more and more, specifically with open world stuff.
<v Speaker 1>We don't know really if Requiem's gonna have any sort
<v Speaker 1>of open world stuff, or if it does, if it's
<v Speaker 1>as like open as something like a Dragon's Dogma two
<v Speaker 1>or A or a Monster Hunter Wilds, but certainly the
<v Speaker 1>priority here must have been we need to make sure
<v Speaker 1>that Requiem comes out and does not have the problems
<v Speaker 1>of Wilds, because that has clearly damaged the reputation of
<v Speaker 1>that game, a game that rushed a ten million copies
<v Speaker 1>sold and I'm talking about Wilds here and then immediately
<v Speaker 1>fell off a cliff and has stopped selling. Basically, it's yea,
<v Speaker 1>not completely, but effectively it has. Do you think that's like?
<v Speaker 1>As long as this game performs well and is a
<v Speaker 1>good resident evil, right, that's all it needs to do
<v Speaker 1>at this point. If it performs poorly, they will have
<v Speaker 1>issues again, right?
<v Speaker 3>Correct?
<v Speaker 2>Now? Correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't play. It
<v Speaker 2>wasn't on my radar. But did Dragon's Dogma two Dragon's
<v Speaker 2>Dogba two have a online co op feature of any kind?
<v Speaker 1>I know, yes, I think yes it does, And then
<v Speaker 1>yes because I think I played with Mike, right or
<v Speaker 1>is he my little special boy character?
<v Speaker 4>You had Special Boys and there was some co.
<v Speaker 3>Op, thank you, Jan.
<v Speaker 2>So so then to me, the issue is an open world.
<v Speaker 2>It's network right, chest say, It's just it's no co op.
<v Speaker 2>It was just just the pawns. So it's just the
<v Speaker 2>special Boys.
<v Speaker 1>It has the summoning thing so you can bring in
<v Speaker 1>your special characters that your friends create and then they
<v Speaker 1>become your pawns and they're controlled, but they're controlled by
<v Speaker 1>the CPU.
<v Speaker 3>All right, go ahead, Jason.
<v Speaker 2>But you still connect to your friends in order to
<v Speaker 2>do that, right, There's some sort of kindect sort of sharing, right,
<v Speaker 2>So so for me, I think the issue may be
<v Speaker 2>more in the network setting. Sport Mansarrona Wilds is very
<v Speaker 2>online heavy, of course, that's you're meeting up with your
<v Speaker 2>friends and playing games. This has this, This Dragons Dong
<v Speaker 2>with two has that. Maybe not as bad, but still
<v Speaker 2>some sort of network connectivity. Resideval don't need that. The
<v Speaker 2>whole point of Resident Evil's being alone and scared. They
<v Speaker 2>tried doing that with Resident Evil six, and I think
<v Speaker 2>when I think about that game, I think more about
<v Speaker 2>the logo and what it looks like than the actual game.
<v Speaker 2>So this to me is natural. You're gonna have a
<v Speaker 2>single player, narrative driven game all about being scared in
<v Speaker 2>this spooky world. You don't worry about anybody else. You're
<v Speaker 2>gonna completely isolated, and that, to me, I think is
<v Speaker 2>best for that for what Capcom wants to do with
<v Speaker 2>their PC ports. I could be wrong. It could be
<v Speaker 2>something more about the way that the Ari engine processes
<v Speaker 2>certain things, and we'll see that rear its ugly head
<v Speaker 2>once again and we will have an issue. But the
<v Speaker 2>way I'm looking at it, if it's if these problems
<v Speaker 2>are more network driven, I don't think there's an issue. Honestly,
<v Speaker 2>I think this one has to work most of the
<v Speaker 2>three because it's the biggest franchise of the three. So yes,
<v Speaker 2>I think this will cause the most gritted teeth if
<v Speaker 2>it doesn't work, But I also think that the path
<v Speaker 2>to get there is easier than the other two.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I also like just see like maybe the nature
<v Speaker 1>of the enemies and a resident evil could sort of
<v Speaker 1>be a little bit easier for this all all to work,
<v Speaker 1>because in Dragon's Dogma, there's all these NPC characters, these
<v Speaker 1>enemy characters, these things that can follow you from region
<v Speaker 1>to region. Monster in or Wilds certainly has that as well,
<v Speaker 1>where there's just these these groups of monsters and these
<v Speaker 1>giant monsters, and they are all running their own cycles,
<v Speaker 1>doing their own thing, and you could sort of they
<v Speaker 1>all have to be maybe going at the same time
<v Speaker 1>if you were to like like kite one into another,
<v Speaker 1>or you kind of go between them and you attract
<v Speaker 1>the attention of both, and the game has to juggle
<v Speaker 1>all of that at the same time. I think, and
<v Speaker 1>I'm pointing this off the top of my head, that
<v Speaker 1>remembering talks of the CPU being the bottleneck on these
<v Speaker 1>games in a lot of cases, and that would certainly
<v Speaker 1>be the case if that, if that, if that was
<v Speaker 1>the problem, just trying to make sure that the game
<v Speaker 1>could juggle all of these interactable elements at the same time.
<v Speaker 1>Resident Evil will certainly have big things chasing you, because
<v Speaker 1>that's been become staple, but it's usually one thing at
<v Speaker 1>a time, and then dumber characters, just normal AI zombie
<v Speaker 1>style characters or you know, leapers or something like that,
<v Speaker 1>that might not be as much of a problem for
<v Speaker 1>the game to handle. I hope that they can kind
<v Speaker 1>of design their way around any of the limitations of
<v Speaker 1>the Resident Evil or the RI engines, not the Resident
<v Speaker 1>Evil engine ARI engine when it comes to building this game,
<v Speaker 1>and you know, this engine was originally designed so that
<v Speaker 1>they could make Resident Evil games. You would hope they
<v Speaker 1>would not stray too far from what made it so
<v Speaker 1>great for that in the first place. For this one,
<v Speaker 1>just for the sake of trying to do something bigger
<v Speaker 1>or more open.
<v Speaker 2>Now, I agree with you there, unless they are trying
<v Speaker 2>to implement some sort of Nemesis type character, right, but
<v Speaker 2>I think they will. I think they will have one.
<v Speaker 1>But if they have one of those, then I think
<v Speaker 1>it's like they could probably focus on that, right, And
<v Speaker 1>it's like yeah, and then if you run into some
<v Speaker 1>other standard style enemies, it's like, yeah, we could predict
<v Speaker 1>that a little bit better. But the nature of wilds,
<v Speaker 1>especially dragon Stalla two, is those interactions are very unpredictable.
<v Speaker 1>The player can kind of cause all kinds of stuff
<v Speaker 1>to happen on their own, and that's again especially true
<v Speaker 1>in Dragon's Dogma two. I think that maybe the nature
<v Speaker 1>of Resident Evil makes it a little bit more predictable,
<v Speaker 1>so they can maybe design their way around a little bit.
<v Speaker 1>But we'll have to well to see. At the very least, though, Jason,
<v Speaker 1>they're aware of it. They know that they can't let
<v Speaker 1>this happen again, and I think that alone should be
<v Speaker 1>taken as a good sign. And now we just got
<v Speaker 1>to see if they deliver.
<v Speaker 2>Right. I agree, And like I said, because this is
<v Speaker 2>resident Evil, there will be more eyes on it than
<v Speaker 2>even Monster Hunter or Dragons Dogma Resident Evil has much
<v Speaker 2>more universal acclaim, universal appeal. Now, whether that translates to
<v Speaker 2>PC specifically or more console remains to be seen, but
<v Speaker 2>I do think that see even a headline Ari Requiem
<v Speaker 2>Suffers on PC is going to do some damage. They
<v Speaker 2>got to make sure it works.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, absolutely all right, Sony shuts down Concord again. Oh
<v Speaker 1>this is from Marcus Person at Game Reactor, and you
<v Speaker 1>might be confused.
<v Speaker 3>Don't worry, We'll explain everything that's happening here.
<v Speaker 1>Sony seems hell bent on wiping out every trace of
<v Speaker 1>Concord from the face of the earth, and honestly, who
<v Speaker 1>can blame them. When the game became one of the
<v Speaker 1>biggest belly flops in PlayStation's history four hundred million dollars
<v Speaker 1>straight down the drain or around there, around that much,
<v Speaker 1>the team behind the game was quickly dissolved afterward, and
<v Speaker 1>Sony is now doing everything it can to make Concord
<v Speaker 1>vanish from collective memory. So when the game was unexpectedly
<v Speaker 1>brought back to life through the hands through the hard
<v Speaker 1>work of a group of dedicated fans who made it
<v Speaker 1>playable on PC again, it didn't take long for Sony
<v Speaker 1>to come knocking clips from the closed beta were hit
<v Speaker 1>with DMCA takedowns, and in the official Discord channel discord
<v Speaker 1>Or for Concord Delta, the following statement has now been
<v Speaker 1>issued due to worrying legal actions. Due to worrying legal action,
<v Speaker 1>we've decided to pause invites for the time being. In
<v Speaker 1>other words, the small team is fully aware that Sony
<v Speaker 1>has them in its sights, and as it resolved, both
<v Speaker 1>to the both the project and the servers are currently
<v Speaker 1>on hold. So this was just fans bringing the game back,
<v Speaker 1>finding ways to do it on PC, Sony catching wind
<v Speaker 1>of it, and you know, I think the Marcus person
<v Speaker 1>here a game Rectors is attributing some motivations to that
<v Speaker 1>of like Sony wanting to wipe the Internet of the
<v Speaker 1>like any trace of Concord. Part of me is always like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, the simple solutions probably are the simplest answer
<v Speaker 1>is probably the answer. And it's like lawyers are just
<v Speaker 1>doing their due diligence to protect the company. And if
<v Speaker 1>Concord's out there running in any real way, it's not
<v Speaker 1>been that long since that game came out, and they're
<v Speaker 1>probably like, hey, if something happens with the game or
<v Speaker 1>someone has a bad experience in there.
<v Speaker 3>We don't want to be legally liable.
<v Speaker 1>It's our trademark still, it's our copyright still, and we're lawyers,
<v Speaker 1>and we're just going to do what we do. I
<v Speaker 1>have any interactions I had with I've had with lawyers,
<v Speaker 1>they're not going to be like, there's room for interpretation here,
<v Speaker 1>there's room for something. No, they're just going to do
<v Speaker 1>their job to protect the company that is paying them,
<v Speaker 1>because that's their obligation. They have to do that. And
<v Speaker 1>so that leads to situations like this where maybe there
<v Speaker 1>was not marching orders from Herman Holst to get that
<v Speaker 1>shit off the internet. I don't think there was. I
<v Speaker 1>think it's probably just, hey, this is happening. How should
<v Speaker 1>we handle this? Well, the lawyers say do this, So
<v Speaker 1>let them go do this, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. If anything, Herman Holst is probably like, really, people
<v Speaker 2>actually want to play it and they're figuring it out themselves. Also,
<v Speaker 2>I need to shout out a great joke in giant
<v Speaker 2>bomb dot com, slash chats twitchat here. I've said it
<v Speaker 2>before and I'll say it again. Nothing named Concord has
<v Speaker 2>been able to take off since two thousand and three.
<v Speaker 2>Well done, sir, that's good, but no, I find it.
<v Speaker 2>I wonder if too, if maybe and you mentioned because
<v Speaker 2>it's so new, if the tech used to develop the
<v Speaker 2>game is still current in Sony's proprietary process, and they
<v Speaker 2>don't want anyone to be able to dig into the
<v Speaker 2>files and find that and maybe glean some thing from
<v Speaker 2>the way they do their thing and be able to
<v Speaker 2>copy it, or you know, to say something like that.
<v Speaker 2>So they just want people to stay away from Concord
<v Speaker 2>for the time being. It is very weird that they
<v Speaker 2>would try to kill a resurrection, which because that implies
<v Speaker 2>that people liked the game enough to attempt to resurrect it.
<v Speaker 2>But I get it. I get why they would do
<v Speaker 2>it for legal reasons, as you mentioned safety or the technology.
<v Speaker 2>It makes sense. It just sucks that it had to
<v Speaker 2>happen to Sweet Concord had to go down twice. Yep,
<v Speaker 2>it was just a boy. It reminds me of the
<v Speaker 2>horse from Body Python. Sweet Concord, your death will not
<v Speaker 2>be in vain, sir, I'm fine.
<v Speaker 1>Ridiculous, well, or will Ferrell falling into the fire pit
<v Speaker 1>and Austin powers and say I'm not dead, I'm.
<v Speaker 2>Just very badly burned.
<v Speaker 3>It's a bang. Why you shot me?
<v Speaker 1>You're kind of going back and again. I want to
<v Speaker 1>shoot it again. All right, so Sony doing this, there's
<v Speaker 1>no other implication that like they're thinking about doing some
<v Speaker 1>of the concord.
<v Speaker 3>Right, yeah, right, Okay, Well I think that's the answer.
<v Speaker 2>There wasn't the what was it that somebody put on
<v Speaker 2>sale or found a goodwill? Was like the platinum disc
<v Speaker 2>or the gone goal. It was the Concord and the
<v Speaker 2>really yeah it was a plaque. You're right, yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>so I don't. I think concord as well and truly dead. Unfortunately.
<v Speaker 1>Well I have my physical copy behind me or right
<v Speaker 1>over there in a pile, so I still got it.
<v Speaker 2>Put it in there. They'll come for you.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's right.
<v Speaker 2>How shit? Heman? Leave me alone?
<v Speaker 1>All right, We are going to take a break. We
<v Speaker 1>got plenty of more headlines to get into after this.
<v Speaker 1>If you want to skip out on these. We put
<v Speaker 1>out an AD free version of the video show an
<v Speaker 1>AD free version of the audio show. You can get
<v Speaker 1>those by going to giant bomb dot com slash join.
<v Speaker 1>We'll be right back, Jan. You taught me to overcome
<v Speaker 1>my fear of sharp objects. I want to teach you
<v Speaker 1>how to overcome your fear of saving money.
<v Speaker 4>No, I don't want to. I will only ever pay
<v Speaker 4>the manufactured suggested retail stop.
<v Speaker 3>You don't have to live this way because now there's
<v Speaker 3>dgo deals, the double D.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, Deco Deals is the best way to find

<v Speaker 1>Bomb Games Mornings were Jason Ponello, Jeff Grubb, Let's get
<v Speaker 1>back into it.
<v Speaker 3>It's uh.
<v Speaker 1>Every time we try to start the show though, or
<v Speaker 1>start a backup, there's more breaking news. Something happens, something happens.
<v Speaker 1>Let's let's do It's a busy Monday. Evan Blast, I
<v Speaker 1>guess has leaked Game of the Year nominees on what
<v Speaker 1>looks like Twitter or Blue Sky. Can't tell anymore anyway,
<v Speaker 1>Here they are. These are the nominees for the Game
<v Speaker 1>of the Year category at the Game Awards, starting with
<v Speaker 1>Clear Obscure Expedition thirty three, then Death Is Stranding Too
<v Speaker 1>on the Beach, Donkey Kong, Bonanza, Hades two, Hollow Night,
<v Speaker 1>Silk Song, and Kingdom Come Deliverance to There you go,
<v Speaker 1>those are your six nominees, people. Jase was telling me,
<v Speaker 1>and I'm like, oh yeah, I would have put it
<v Speaker 1>on there, probably over Kingdom Come Deliverance to a Game.
<v Speaker 1>I did play a little bit of Blueprints. I think
<v Speaker 1>it's the big omission there. That of course Roadcraft. Everyone's
<v Speaker 1>everyone not making it big man.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, So I.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, this list looks about right to me, though, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>there were a lot of really good games this year.
<v Speaker 3>It was always going to be tough to just name six.
<v Speaker 1>I think all these are yeah yeah, strong nominees are
<v Speaker 1>kind of kind of across the board. I think right now,
<v Speaker 1>my gut reaction for the game I think is Game
<v Speaker 1>of the Year. Out of these six, it's it is
<v Speaker 1>Silk Song. It's it's okay what I think is going
<v Speaker 1>to win. Though Jason continues to be Expedition thirty three, Yes,
<v Speaker 1>it deserves it like that. That mean preferring Silk Song
<v Speaker 1>is not any indication of me thinking Expedition thirty three
<v Speaker 1>doesn't deserve the game win Game of the Year.
<v Speaker 3>I think it does. How about you?
<v Speaker 2>I am with you on that. I think claipstear is
<v Speaker 2>going to win just because of the type of game
<v Speaker 2>that it is and the uh the I hate to
<v Speaker 2>be so cynical, but it is easier to build a
<v Speaker 2>show around if that. You know what I mean, You
<v Speaker 2>have all the voice actors there. It will be part
<v Speaker 2>of the Oh shit, sorry, it's had a realization. It'll
<v Speaker 2>be part of the symphony orchestra, the Game of the
<v Speaker 2>Year year medley, which means Zebra bonanza. He played on
<v Speaker 2>the stage, and that right there makes me very excited.
<v Speaker 1>They could just do a medley of all the different
<v Speaker 1>Bonanza songtic they got to use the Bonnanza.
<v Speaker 2>It's the best one. And I will fight someone. Uh No,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know. Man hates two for the the people
<v Speaker 2>that vote on this thing that might have a have
<v Speaker 2>a have a chance here, But no, I think I
<v Speaker 2>think if I had, if I'm a betting man, I
<v Speaker 2>think Expedition thirty three is your winner. And honestly, people
<v Speaker 2>might have forgotten about because come out in February. But
<v Speaker 2>I do like seeing Kingdom come here. It's nice to
<v Speaker 2>see a game that is not afraid to say, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's nice to see a game it's not afraid to
<v Speaker 2>say you're the player, but we hate you and we're
<v Speaker 2>going to grind your face into the fucking dirt until
<v Speaker 2>you learn how to play our game. And I enjoyed
<v Speaker 2>it way more than I thought I would. The guy
<v Speaker 2>who makes it, that's a whole difference. But but but
<v Speaker 2>he's the game was fun and and then I want
<v Speaker 2>to see the I don't know the name of the actor,
<v Speaker 2>but the guy who plays Henry puts in a very
<v Speaker 2>good performance. That's where my strongest opinions are By the way.
<v Speaker 2>I'm gonna wait for the nominees to come out, But
<v Speaker 2>there is one person in particular who I think needs
<v Speaker 2>serious consideration for performance at any awards show, and that's
<v Speaker 2>Jenny Kidd as Pauline. Oh and the reason the reason
<v Speaker 2>is not, and the reason is not just because you know,
<v Speaker 2>no one's gonna be able to convince anyone that her
<v Speaker 2>emotional performance is going to outrank those of Expedition thirty
<v Speaker 2>three or eighties. But she spoke and sang Pauline, which
<v Speaker 2>means she was singing and rapping a made up language
<v Speaker 2>and made it sound like it was completely natural. That
<v Speaker 2>girl deserves all the kudos in the world. That's hard
<v Speaker 2>to do. Yeah, I do.
<v Speaker 1>I fear it won't get recognized, but I have one
<v Speaker 1>hundred percent agree with you that it deserves to be.
<v Speaker 1>It was and she was great, Like I just if
<v Speaker 1>she carried the sort of the performances of that game
<v Speaker 1>in a real strong way.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So, like now, as I like get ready for our
<v Speaker 1>Game of the Year over here, something I like to
<v Speaker 1>talk about think about we always bringing up on these shows.
<v Speaker 1>I think I've I need to spend more time with
<v Speaker 1>deaf stranding and I think I will be going back
<v Speaker 1>to King Kingdom come Deliverance too. I think I started
<v Speaker 1>to go down a pathway of like how much become
<v Speaker 1>a cheeky little potion salesman or something like that, And
<v Speaker 1>I think you could do that in this game, and
<v Speaker 1>I might like try to just go have my own
<v Speaker 1>fun with it instead of trying to rush through the
<v Speaker 1>story as I was doing. And we'll see if that's possible.
<v Speaker 1>And my understanding is it is. I bet I could
<v Speaker 1>have even more fun with that game.
<v Speaker 2>My favorite part of that game is if My favorite
<v Speaker 2>part of that game is that if you don't go
<v Speaker 2>to the bathhouse fast enough, people will actually complain that
<v Speaker 2>you smell like shit. That's yeah to me. I love it.
<v Speaker 3>Well.
<v Speaker 1>That is our leaked Game of the Year nominations. The
<v Speaker 1>rest of the nominations will be coming out at the
<v Speaker 1>top of the hour. Maybe we'll talk about on another
<v Speaker 1>show if there's anything worth worth bringing up, but I
<v Speaker 1>definitely want to talk about.
<v Speaker 3>Those with Jason.
<v Speaker 1>Let's see here, Let's get back to our rundown here,
<v Speaker 1>all right. US congressman calls for AI regulations after Call
<v Speaker 1>of Duty Black Ops seven debate. This is from Blair
<v Speaker 1>Marnell at game Spot. Earlier this month, Call of Duty
<v Speaker 1>Black Ops seven players called out the apparent use of
<v Speaker 1>AI in the game, especially the quote unquote Ghibli style
<v Speaker 1>calling cards. Activisions subsequently acknowledged that some AI was used
<v Speaker 1>in the creation of Black Ops seven, but it insisted
<v Speaker 1>that the creative process is still in the hands of
<v Speaker 1>humans regardless. A US congressman has weighed in on the
<v Speaker 1>Black Ops seven debate and called for extensive AI regulations.
<v Speaker 1>California Democratic Congressman Rocanna, who has previously accused Roadblocks of
<v Speaker 1>not doing enough to protect children who use it, reposted
<v Speaker 1>a message about the Gibli like calling cards and wrote,
<v Speaker 1>we need regulations that prevent companies from using AI to
<v Speaker 1>eliminate jobs to extract greater profits. Artists that these companies
<v Speaker 1>need to have a say in how in how AI
<v Speaker 1>is deployed. In a subsequent post, Kanna shared some proposals
<v Speaker 1>from Nobel laureate Moglu. I'm not going to be able
<v Speaker 1>to say that, right, Smaglu Smaglu, Yeah, okay, I like that.
<v Speaker 1>Ideas include tax reforms to encourage or to discourage excessive automation,
<v Speaker 1>and allowing workers and unions to benefit from AI gains
<v Speaker 1>rather than being placed by replaced by artificial intelligence. Kind
<v Speaker 1>of also stressed that he isn't calling for a complete
<v Speaker 1>ban on AI. So the idea here would be regulations
<v Speaker 1>that sort of make it challenging for companies or will
<v Speaker 1>punish companies if all they're going to do with AI
<v Speaker 1>is use it to cut out workers and cut out
<v Speaker 1>more people from the profits, something that they are otherwise
<v Speaker 1>incentivized to do. And the idea would be like, let's
<v Speaker 1>share the benefits if there are any from AI with everyone.
<v Speaker 1>And look, AI feels like the tooth based out of
<v Speaker 1>the tube certainly in a lot of ways. It also
<v Speaker 1>feels like a bubble waiting to burst in terms of
<v Speaker 1>the business side of things. But I've said before that
<v Speaker 1>I think it's gonna be a real dark period for
<v Speaker 1>AI here pretty soon, and then it'll slowly kind of
<v Speaker 1>come back, and it'll be everywhere forever and we're not
<v Speaker 1>gonna be able to do much about it. But one
<v Speaker 1>thing I do think would be possible is some sort
<v Speaker 1>of regulation like this of building out tax incentives and
<v Speaker 1>disincentives to say, hey, if you want to do this,
<v Speaker 1>if you can let the people who actually are doing
<v Speaker 1>the work decide how it's used and share any like
<v Speaker 1>in sort of the productivity gains that you get out
<v Speaker 1>of that, then I would be more open to the possibility,
<v Speaker 1>because otherwise, every time I see it, it's just a
<v Speaker 1>reminder of all of the ways that these companies try
<v Speaker 1>to ring us dry, and then when they can completely
<v Speaker 1>cut us out, they are more than happy to rush
<v Speaker 1>to do that. Does any of this feel like it's possible?
<v Speaker 1>Does any of us feel like it's on the table
<v Speaker 1>or we're anywhere near that? Because pineing the sky stuff,
<v Speaker 1>I feel like it's probably not.
<v Speaker 2>No, I wish this whole story. When I first saw
<v Speaker 2>that screenshot of the of the AI give, I was furious.
<v Speaker 2>But let me unequipped right now, fuck AI and fuck
<v Speaker 2>you for using it. That is, I understand if people
<v Speaker 2>may want to try it once or twice because they
<v Speaker 2>can't draw. I can't draw, but I'm not on Sora.
<v Speaker 2>I don't care. I just don't draw.
<v Speaker 1>I feel not wrong. When I did use it the
<v Speaker 1>one I just felt nothing from using it. It was like,
<v Speaker 1>what the does this add to my life?
<v Speaker 2>Work?
<v Speaker 3>Well?
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, well sure I had to be Rocana too, right.
<v Speaker 2>Rocanna is not not the greatest person or at least
<v Speaker 2>somebody's saying it. I don't think there's any chance. I
<v Speaker 2>don't think there's any chance that uh ai goes away.
<v Speaker 2>But I am very much looking forward for that bubble
<v Speaker 2>to burst and for like the the overabundance of AI
<v Speaker 2>as it is now, to go, you know, go by
<v Speaker 2>the wayside. I feel like there probably is some good
<v Speaker 2>use for machine learning right racally, like in the meta field,
<v Speaker 2>being able to go through all those complex equations and
<v Speaker 2>find the right one faster or something like that. But
<v Speaker 2>this theft shit, whether it's you know, chat ept stealing
<v Speaker 2>text or sores stealing images, has to fucking go. And
<v Speaker 2>I wish they would nut up and just put legislation
<v Speaker 2>out there that says you cannot use this for commercial
<v Speaker 2>for monetary gain or commercial never happened, We'll never happened
<v Speaker 2>because they're terrified, because it's like they don't do it,
<v Speaker 2>then China will take over AI and we'll be left
<v Speaker 2>behind in the twenty first century and say, oh boy,
<v Speaker 2>there's got to be some other way of doing this
<v Speaker 2>other than operating from the worst fears and the worst
<v Speaker 2>possible situation. You kind of can't.
<v Speaker 1>Lead the future because you're like, oh, if we don't
<v Speaker 1>do it, someone else will. We're too afraid of what
<v Speaker 1>that means. That's not a recipe for making sure everyone's
<v Speaker 1>included on the bus. But that's not been the concern
<v Speaker 1>of these companies. It is you never will renize profit
<v Speaker 1>in every situation, and the government and politicians are too
<v Speaker 1>often right there being like, oh, that should be our
<v Speaker 1>our greatest concern as well, and it's oh no, the
<v Speaker 1>well being of the people you represent should be it.
<v Speaker 3>And that doesn't even seem to come to the equation
<v Speaker 3>like it's everywhere.
<v Speaker 1>It's it's like all last week, there's five other kinds
<v Speaker 1>of stories about where it's popping up, and it's always
<v Speaker 1>like in weird ways where it's like Ubisoft just used
<v Speaker 1>it for like one AI loading image. They they probably
<v Speaker 1>used it for more than that, but there was one
<v Speaker 1>AI loading image where they said it slipped through and
<v Speaker 1>it had like obvious ar AI artifacts of like squishy
<v Speaker 1>face faces and bad hands, and they're like, we're gonna
<v Speaker 1>that's through our review process. Our developers just use it
<v Speaker 1>for let's see here, iterations, prototype and exploration, but every
<v Speaker 1>element players will experience in the final game reflects the
<v Speaker 1>team's craft artistry and create a vision. And that's on
<v Speaker 1>one side, and on the other side, Crafting the PUBG
<v Speaker 1>company is like we are buying out everyone basically that
<v Speaker 1>wants to have a voluntary buyout, And if you've been
<v Speaker 1>here for a year or less, we'll give you six
<v Speaker 1>months of pay of salary to get out of here.
<v Speaker 1>If you've been here for up till like eleven years,
<v Speaker 1>you might get as much as three year salary because
<v Speaker 1>we are an AI first company. And it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>so Ubisoft like gotten a lot of heat for having
<v Speaker 1>one image, and Crafting's basically just kicking everyone out so
<v Speaker 1>they can do everything with AI.
<v Speaker 3>So we have the we run the whole gamut here.
<v Speaker 1>And it just feels like, well, we are certainly jumping
<v Speaker 1>the gun and getting out over our skis with this stuff.
<v Speaker 1>And I think that's the part that makes it feel
<v Speaker 1>especially bad, is this this is a tech that and
<v Speaker 1>it's in its best examples like of I guess that
<v Speaker 1>looks somewhat realistic, but it obviously is not. Doesn't feel
<v Speaker 1>good or or like that Coca Cola commercial where it's
<v Speaker 1>like this does not match up to what you did
<v Speaker 1>previously in any way other than it sort of has
<v Speaker 1>the general look. Is that the bar that you're measuring
<v Speaker 1>these things by.
<v Speaker 3>Uh?
<v Speaker 2>And if it is, it's.
<v Speaker 1>Like, okay, the people in charge are are going to
<v Speaker 1>sort of shoot themselves in the foot with this stuff.
<v Speaker 1>And that's where the bursting bubble is gonna come from.
<v Speaker 1>Uh And and that's and even that is not gonna
<v Speaker 1>hurt those people as much as it's gonna hurt everyone
<v Speaker 1>who got fired.
<v Speaker 3>And now these companies don't have money to hire anyone again.
<v Speaker 3>It's a nightmare. How are you feeling about it?
<v Speaker 2>Jason? It's a piss Felder simulator, that's all it is.
<v Speaker 2>It can make it can make the image look as
<v Speaker 2>as realistic as they want, but it still has that
<v Speaker 2>weird asschene on it that anybody with a discerning eye
<v Speaker 2>can see. The problem is nobody has a fucking discerning eye.
<v Speaker 2>They just want to They have a discerning wallet, and
<v Speaker 2>all they care about is how cheap it is. Crafton
<v Speaker 2>going to find out the hard way. I mean, granted,
<v Speaker 2>at least they're doing something. They could have just said
<v Speaker 2>get the hell out instead of yeah, buying.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, these plays are in South Korea, so who knows,
<v Speaker 1>maybe they couldn't just say get the hell out. There's
<v Speaker 1>probably right protections labor protections there.
<v Speaker 2>But yes, we're saying, but like this Ubisoft thing, Oh
<v Speaker 2>it just slipped through, It just slipped right. I'm thinking
<v Speaker 2>of the guy slipping on ice, where he's like slipping
<v Speaker 2>on ice for forty five seconds before he actually falls over.
<v Speaker 2>I'm imagining this guy going going to Sora and like
<v Speaker 2>slipping around and typing in the prompt that he needs
<v Speaker 2>and then slipping it as he saves it to where
<v Speaker 2>I ever needs saved to you. Here's an idea you
<v Speaker 2>probably in your prompt for this, put in picture from
<v Speaker 2>this era that would look like a loading screen for
<v Speaker 2>a video game. Right, Say that's the prompt, take the
<v Speaker 2>word loading, put it on a screen with an image
<v Speaker 2>with big fucking neon colors so you don't miss it,
<v Speaker 2>and put that in there instead. It'll take just as
<v Speaker 2>much time and you'll avoid looking like an asshole when
<v Speaker 2>you accidentally leave it in there. Fucking I hate AI.
<v Speaker 2>Pisses me off to no end. When I see people
<v Speaker 2>like good friends of mine on their Instagram reels, their
<v Speaker 2>or their social media using AI, I'm just like, no, well,
<v Speaker 2>you fucking stuff I hate it so much.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the discerning I thing, right, It's like people don't
<v Speaker 1>most the vast majority of people don't know the problem,
<v Speaker 1>and so they don't even see the problems.
<v Speaker 3>They don't even know it.
<v Speaker 1>I think it's going to be a situation where maybe
<v Speaker 1>someone like looks at that Coca Cola commercial and goes,
<v Speaker 1>I just don't like as much. Maybe they just didn't
<v Speaker 1>have a good one this year, or they find out
<v Speaker 1>it and then maybe they find out it's AI and
<v Speaker 1>they're like, oh, okay, well that's cool. Then I guess
<v Speaker 1>I just the conversations we're having are not the general conversations.
<v Speaker 2>But I do think that it is.
<v Speaker 1>People are like, like, are wonder why things look like
<v Speaker 1>such shit right now? Or why it does feel worse
<v Speaker 1>than it did before. And hopefully we can continue to
<v Speaker 1>point the finger rightfully at AI and say it's because no,
<v Speaker 1>they're not letting the actual artists do the work for
<v Speaker 1>the vast majority of these things so they could save
<v Speaker 1>some money, and so you're going to continue to get
<v Speaker 1>worse stuff. Doesn't that make you angry? And I hope
<v Speaker 1>we can win that conversation.
<v Speaker 2>Don't you remember when you were a kid and it
<v Speaker 2>would be just around this time and you'd see the
<v Speaker 2>Coca Cola You mentioned the cocoa commercial with the bears. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>those that is a They love those. You know what
<v Speaker 2>else is really cheap besides AI, restore those if you
<v Speaker 2>don't want to make a new one, just HD restore
<v Speaker 2>the old classic ones. It's the same. You get the
<v Speaker 2>same damn message. It's Christmas, here's coke and some polar bears.
<v Speaker 2>But it doesn't look like a piece of shit, and
<v Speaker 2>for people with that discerning eye, it doesn't look it
<v Speaker 2>doesn't look.
<v Speaker 1>Sorry, Yeah, they've been running the same eminem like holiday
<v Speaker 1>commercial for like thirty years now, different times. It's great, Yeah, yeah, exactly,
<v Speaker 1>but it's like, you know, that goes the other side
<v Speaker 1>of it of it's not Oh, you could just run
<v Speaker 1>those again. Those have stood the test of time for
<v Speaker 1>a reason because they were clever, and they were done
<v Speaker 1>by people who understood how to speak to other human
<v Speaker 1>beings and could operate on multiple levels of here's something
<v Speaker 1>that looks nice, here's something that has a meaning to it,
<v Speaker 1>here's something that speaks to a desire that all humans feel.
<v Speaker 1>And even if the machine can sort of replicate some
<v Speaker 1>of those ideas. It's so clear, very quickly that it
<v Speaker 1>can't actually create those feelings itself, so it can't really
<v Speaker 1>speak to them and and.
<v Speaker 3>That's subtle, uh but but that's it's part of like
<v Speaker 3>where the.
<v Speaker 1>Chain breaks down and it sort of taints everything that
<v Speaker 1>it does, and it's like everything's not quite as good
<v Speaker 1>as if a human did it. But yeah, it's good
<v Speaker 1>enough the corporates. I don't even know if it's good enough.
<v Speaker 1>Though it has been good enough so far. It's not
<v Speaker 1>good enough.
<v Speaker 2>Chad is now becoming a greatest hits of Christmas commercials.
<v Speaker 2>The Corona with the lit up pine tree for Hershey
<v Speaker 2>Kisses where they're playing the bells let me tell you
<v Speaker 2>something and someone said this in the shell but Briki one,
<v Speaker 2>I think it is Berriki underscore one. If they AI
<v Speaker 2>the fucking hes truck, I am done. You understand me.
<v Speaker 2>You're gonna AI the truck that you sell every year too.
<v Speaker 2>You're gonna just generate that a he I needs to
<v Speaker 2>go AI and roadblocks man one in one egg for
<v Speaker 2>number one on your leg one in one a I
<v Speaker 2>fuck say them both one and incorporates the other all
<v Speaker 2>of a singularity of rage I'm just exploding to nothing.
<v Speaker 3>All right, Well, let's keep going here.
<v Speaker 1>More players in the UK, US and Japan still prefer
<v Speaker 1>single player games to multiplayer games survey fines.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>In the US, it's like, let's see, I made the okay,
<v Speaker 1>sixty five percent. I'm gonna make this chart bigger so
<v Speaker 1>I can actually read it.
<v Speaker 3>Let's go there.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, yes, Okay. In the US, sixty five percent prefer
<v Speaker 1>single player games. Japan is sixty three percent, Thailand sixty
<v Speaker 1>two percent, Germany sixty percent, UK fifty eight percent, Mexico
<v Speaker 1>fifty five percent, Sweden forty nine percent, and China forty
<v Speaker 1>seven percent. So even in China, a country where I've
<v Speaker 1>talked about before, culturally the gaming landscape has always been
<v Speaker 1>very social, very online, very much a you need other
<v Speaker 1>humans involved because it's competitive first and and and like
<v Speaker 1>pay to win took off there because they just never
<v Speaker 1>saw the problem with the way other people the other
<v Speaker 1>cultures did, and that also means you need other players
<v Speaker 1>to play against. Even there, forty seven percent not the majority,
<v Speaker 1>but close to half prefer single play, single player games.
<v Speaker 1>I think that every time that these companies get in
<v Speaker 1>a situation, Jason where they look at the possibility of Hey,
<v Speaker 1>multiplayer games do sell better and they do make more money,
<v Speaker 1>but there is a finite amount of time for those
<v Speaker 1>kinds of games, for people for that that who for
<v Speaker 1>that style of game. If we want to have a
<v Speaker 1>chance of diversifying, it does not mean make another multiplayer game,
<v Speaker 1>because if we make a good one of those, it
<v Speaker 1>should ideally take up a vast majority of that kind
<v Speaker 1>of person's time because they will just it becomes their hobby.
<v Speaker 1>If we want to make multiple games, the only real
<v Speaker 1>solution to that is to play to this audience, right,
<v Speaker 1>even if they don't spend as much to end total.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, if that's if the analysis is saying we prefer
<v Speaker 2>single player games, you have to care to the people
<v Speaker 2>who prefer single player games. And I think the sales
<v Speaker 2>charts always show that too. Like Ghost of Yota earlier
<v Speaker 2>this year had a great what three million? I think
<v Speaker 2>it is now three four million, so like it. It
<v Speaker 2>does not surprise me. Also too, have you played online
<v Speaker 2>with free chet? It sucks because people are screaming at
<v Speaker 2>you and calling you and I am at what is
<v Speaker 2>the all? Right? So this there's a difference in response
<v Speaker 2>age sixteen to twenty four and those age twenty five
<v Speaker 2>to thirty four. I would love to see that split.
<v Speaker 2>And there is forty nine percent sixteen to twenty four
<v Speaker 2>prefer sixty single player games, fifty six percent for twenty
<v Speaker 2>five to thirty four, sixty four percent fifty five to
<v Speaker 2>sixty four. Old folks don't want to get yelled at
<v Speaker 2>by a bunch of young scrubs. That's all. That's what
<v Speaker 2>I'm rereading here.
<v Speaker 1>And that's like, okay, you could read that both ways though,
<v Speaker 1>where it's like, okay, so, if you want a future
<v Speaker 1>proof your company, you should be focused on multiplayer. But
<v Speaker 1>because of the way the world's working right now, younger
<v Speaker 1>people don't have as much disposable income. If you want
<v Speaker 1>to make a game that could sell right now, you
<v Speaker 1>should maybe make something that appeals more to the older audiences.
<v Speaker 1>I think, you know, if you're if you're Sony reading
<v Speaker 1>this and you're trying to like figure out your strategy
<v Speaker 1>going forward, it's obviously you're still it's obviously you're still
<v Speaker 1>making both. But I you know, I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>if if I'm in that boardroom at PlayStation, how anyone
<v Speaker 1>can accept the idea that the bulk of our of
<v Speaker 1>our investment should be in massive, you know, a live
<v Speaker 1>service multiplayer games. It's like, no, the our base, our foundation,
<v Speaker 1>our rock has been a certain style of game for
<v Speaker 1>forever and and and if.
<v Speaker 2>We maybe we're not abandoning that.
<v Speaker 1>We have not been abandoning that, but we've certainly been
<v Speaker 1>letting it sort of go like run on its own
<v Speaker 1>steam and not being we haven't been reinvesting in it.
<v Speaker 3>Certainly.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know how you could sort of let everyone
<v Speaker 1>out of the room under this idea of we should
<v Speaker 1>be making twelve live service games. Now obviously that has
<v Speaker 1>had its problems and not doing that necessarily anymore. But
<v Speaker 1>it's like, how did that even happen in the first place?
<v Speaker 1>How you got how'd you guys sort of talk yourselves
<v Speaker 1>into that? Because it maybe half of the investment. May
<v Speaker 1>if you made tried six big live service games and
<v Speaker 1>the rest of that money went to building more studios
<v Speaker 1>or trying more single player stuff, that would have gone
<v Speaker 1>better for you, and I predict, I predict it would
<v Speaker 1>have because there's just this solid foundation of players who
<v Speaker 1>want that, and then the multiplayer game can be the
<v Speaker 1>occasional lotto ticket. And instead what they did is just
<v Speaker 1>went all in on buy as many a lot of
<v Speaker 1>tickets as we possibly can, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and that unfortunately, when lottery tickets are by their
<v Speaker 2>nature not guaranteed, so when they don't cash out, you're
<v Speaker 2>left with a fumbled bag. It sucks. Yep I hope
<v Speaker 2>that they take this and they sort of balance their
<v Speaker 2>their output here because people still want their single PlayStation.
<v Speaker 2>Single player narrative games are some of the best things
<v Speaker 2>you can play on their console. Last of Us, Scott
<v Speaker 2>of War Uncharted when that was a thing, Horizon, those
<v Speaker 2>sorts of games, Uh, you want to you want to
<v Speaker 2>cater to the Unfortunately, honestly, I think at this point,
<v Speaker 2>if they were smart, the console makers were smart, they
<v Speaker 2>would just try and I know Epic's been trying to
<v Speaker 2>skirt them every chance they get with like Fortnite, for example.
<v Speaker 2>But the the service fees for the micro transactions on
<v Speaker 2>your consoles might be the best way to get live
<v Speaker 2>service funds at the moment, because the live service games
<v Speaker 2>that are here are so entrenched and they're not going
<v Speaker 2>anywhere that you're not unless you have a game that
<v Speaker 2>is so good everyone to like arc Raiders, I think
<v Speaker 2>is a good recent example of a game that has
<v Speaker 2>simply broken in because it's a lot of fun and
<v Speaker 2>people are enjoying what it does. But that's now another
<v Speaker 2>live service game that you have to compete against. So
<v Speaker 2>it's a it's a rock and a hard place, and
<v Speaker 2>it's a it's a problem that I do not envy
<v Speaker 2>and envy them having, but I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>Man, Yeah, you know it's and their lab service business
<v Speaker 1>does work. They make money from it, and they make
<v Speaker 1>money by having third parties put live service games on
<v Speaker 1>on their platform. And it's hard to ignore that money,
<v Speaker 1>and they shouldn't because it has work to a certain extent.
<v Speaker 2>It just did not. It's also had as many you.
<v Speaker 1>Know, crash and burns and you know, burn four hundred
<v Speaker 1>a pile, four hundred million dollars in one go in
<v Speaker 1>something like Concord, and they've had that like to various
<v Speaker 1>degrees multiple times now. And it's like, I think that
<v Speaker 1>the sure thing, the reliable first party game, first party
<v Speaker 1>single player game. It just seems like maybe that's the
<v Speaker 1>good ground to go to to return to, and then
<v Speaker 1>you just try going live service, try going multiplayer a
<v Speaker 1>little less frequently, and be a little bit more discerning there,
<v Speaker 1>and that does seem to be where they're going right now.
<v Speaker 1>It's just I'm surprised they didn't try that from the
<v Speaker 1>from the outset.
<v Speaker 2>Arc Raiders uses AI too, doesn't it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, for the for the voices, Yeah, everything is going
<v Speaker 1>to It's going to be everywhere. X Defiant reportedly began
<v Speaker 1>life as a new splinter Cell game by the Dispatch developers.
<v Speaker 1>From Rebecca Valentine, who got this from I think there
<v Speaker 1>was a report over at Bloomberg. Ubisoft was at one
<v Speaker 1>point not too long ago, working on a brand new
<v Speaker 1>splinter Cell game, but it morphed over time to become extifiant,
<v Speaker 1>according to a new report. This comes from a Bloomberg
<v Speaker 1>story about ad Hoc Studio, the developers of workplace superhero
<v Speaker 1>comedy game Dispatch, which describes their journey from Telltale Games
<v Speaker 1>to a superhero comedy game Dispatch. Ye, I'm sorry to
<v Speaker 1>Ubisoft to tell their independent excuse me to own their
<v Speaker 1>own independent studio. The leadership of ad Hoc began working
<v Speaker 1>together at Telltale Games, working on Tales from the Borderlands
<v Speaker 1>before Nick Herma, Dennis Leonard, and Pierre Schorett departed for
<v Speaker 1>Ubisoft in twenty seventeen. There the Trio worked on a
<v Speaker 1>new entry in the splinter Cell franchise. I was so
<v Speaker 1>excited to be a part of this and help revitalize
<v Speaker 1>it because it's been dormant for a while, Herman told Bloomberg,
<v Speaker 1>and we thought we could tell a great story and
<v Speaker 1>do something the fans would love. However, they explained that
<v Speaker 1>Ubisoft was beginning to push games as a service hard
<v Speaker 1>across its portfolio, and splinter Cell didn't quite fit that mold.
<v Speaker 1>Over time, the splinter Cell project transformed into what would
<v Speaker 1>become x Defiant, a free to play first person shooter
<v Speaker 1>that launched two middle in reviews last year and shut
<v Speaker 1>down just this past June, taking two entire studios with it.
<v Speaker 1>The Trio eventually reunited with Michael Schaong, another former colleague
<v Speaker 1>from Telltale, to start ad Hoc Studio in twenty eighteen.
<v Speaker 1>While working on a version of what would be eventually
<v Speaker 1>become Dispatch, they also took on a script writing codev
<v Speaker 1>Gig on the Wolf among Us two, only to pull
<v Speaker 1>out of the project after writing an eight hundred page
<v Speaker 1>script due to frustrations with a lack of creative control.
<v Speaker 1>That project, last we heard of it seemed similarly similarly
<v Speaker 1>ill fated oh No. Eventually, though, the group was able
<v Speaker 1>to pull together the final version of Dispatch with the
<v Speaker 1>support of both a publisher and a number of well
<v Speaker 1>known actors. Thanks to casting director Linda la Montange, a
<v Speaker 1>last minute deal with critical role for another game helped
<v Speaker 1>them help get it across the finish line. It's just
<v Speaker 1>like that sounds like modern game development for studio of
<v Speaker 1>this size, like the sort of low to middle size
<v Speaker 1>studio where you have to try.
<v Speaker 2>A million different things to make ends meet.
<v Speaker 1>You probably bring in people from a lot of other
<v Speaker 1>publishers and you, you know, sign a bunch of deals,
<v Speaker 1>and if you get a game made, the story behind
<v Speaker 1>it will sound like it's a miracle that anything ever
<v Speaker 1>came out.
<v Speaker 3>And that's certainly the story of Dispatch. Right.
<v Speaker 2>Every time I hear a story like this, that's exactly
<v Speaker 2>the first thing I think. It is interesting that they
<v Speaker 2>went from splinter Cell to ragtag bunch of heroes in Dispatch.
<v Speaker 2>That is a weird trajectory, but with their with their
<v Speaker 2>Telltale with the Telltale background and bringing that those teams in,
<v Speaker 2>I guess it kind of makes sense. I think the
<v Speaker 2>story here is that they thought Splinter Cell, Ubisoft thought
<v Speaker 2>splinter Cell, one of their biggest franchises, wasn't fitting their
<v Speaker 2>current like what means going on? Man? That?
<v Speaker 1>So that to me, that sounds so familiar to like
<v Speaker 1>every conversation happening inside these companies right now where they
<v Speaker 1>they probably are across the board, like maybe everyone except
<v Speaker 1>for Nintendo, but even Nintendo, like like they're probably having
<v Speaker 1>conversations about star Fox the Starfox MA extent a sense,
<v Speaker 1>But I bet it's a little bit different in Nintendo
<v Speaker 1>than at like a Microsoft to Sony in the activision,
<v Speaker 1>which I guess is Microsoft and you be Soft all
<v Speaker 1>these companies where they're like, okay, people keep clamoring for
<v Speaker 1>X for something like splinter Cell. Let's do all of
<v Speaker 1>the math, Let's do all of the market research. Let's
<v Speaker 1>try to figure out can this game sell ten million
<v Speaker 1>copies and make at least a fifteen percent profit margin?
<v Speaker 1>And I think they all kind of come to the
<v Speaker 1>answer of maybe, but probably not. And so we don't
<v Speaker 1>get any of this shit or they're just too scared
<v Speaker 1>to make to make the bet. None of these games
<v Speaker 1>are getting made right now because someone inside these companies
<v Speaker 1>has a strong vision for making the game.
<v Speaker 2>It is maybe.
<v Speaker 1>Pitched, and then it's it's got to pass through, you know,
<v Speaker 1>miles and miles of your brocracy and approvals from people
<v Speaker 1>whose first concern is not a good video game, but
<v Speaker 1>a game that is a good fit for a market that.
<v Speaker 2>They can see explained to them on a.
<v Speaker 3>Spreadsheet on paper.
<v Speaker 1>And of course, like splinter Cell is going to have
<v Speaker 1>a challenge doing that because the last couple of splinter
<v Speaker 1>cells did you know whatever they did, And games like
<v Speaker 1>that right now are not They're few and far between,
<v Speaker 1>and the games that do make all the money in
<v Speaker 1>the world look very different. So like, how do you explain, well,
<v Speaker 1>this game could pop off because there's people out there
<v Speaker 1>that want to play that. They're like, well, then show
<v Speaker 1>show me that on paper, Vibe, give me another example,
<v Speaker 1>and there aren't any. So it's it's a self perpetuating
<v Speaker 1>cycle where games like this aren't getting made, so there's
<v Speaker 1>no examples of them doing well, so these companies don't
<v Speaker 1>want to make them. So it feels like we're just
<v Speaker 1>gonna it's gonna get worse and worse with these companies
<v Speaker 1>getting more and more afraid to make stuff like this.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and even too, it seems like Ubisoft can't make
<v Speaker 2>a game in any of its trademark franchises without it
<v Speaker 2>being super bloated with towers and big maps and and
<v Speaker 2>and symbol overload and all this other stuff. So they
<v Speaker 2>really need to figure out what the hell's going on
<v Speaker 2>in there. Man, it's it's uh, it's a problem.
<v Speaker 3>Last story here. I think this Zelda movie looks pretty cool.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>There was some Yeah, there was some leaked footage of
<v Speaker 1>behind the scenes filming with Zelda kind of walking around
<v Speaker 1>the set with horses with like a utrama that looks like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, if it's from Hiral Kingdom. And we have
<v Speaker 1>some official set photos I think popped off on the
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo Today app.
<v Speaker 2>Here's from Jim Norman.
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo has revealed a new batch of photos of the
<v Speaker 1>upcoming live action Zelda movie, giving us our closest look
<v Speaker 1>yet at its central duo, the Pinchers. Pictures were shared
<v Speaker 1>on the Nintendo Today app and reveal Bo Bragginson's Yeah
<v Speaker 1>bos Braggason's Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth's link in
<v Speaker 1>full costume on location in New Zealand.
<v Speaker 3>Zelda. Yeah, yeah, let's see here. Now it's true.
<v Speaker 1>There are only three photos to take in for now,
<v Speaker 1>But it looks like Zelda and Janef You if this
<v Speaker 1>is something you could show off people like you can
<v Speaker 1>show the photos and maybe even that Instagram behind the
<v Speaker 1>scenes footage. I saw the behind the scenes footage first, Jason,
<v Speaker 1>and just seeing that was like, oh man, suddenly I
<v Speaker 1>have confidence in this. I have something about it just
<v Speaker 1>looks right. But of course that's just one little tidbit,
<v Speaker 1>and that's you know, who knows why I feel that way,
<v Speaker 1>but I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>You said you feel the same.
<v Speaker 3>Why.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Because they're going with the Breath of the Wild
<v Speaker 2>Tears of the Kingdom presentation.
<v Speaker 3>It is pretty similar to that, yes.
<v Speaker 2>Which is, if you're comparatively speaking, this is going to
<v Speaker 2>be a weird thing to say for the legend of Zelda.
<v Speaker 2>But hear me out on this. The most grounded look
<v Speaker 2>look wise of the franchise. You know, a boy in
<v Speaker 2>a hat and tunic running around with the sword. It's
<v Speaker 2>gonna look people can think that it's a really weird.
<v Speaker 2>This looks like it could for people who do not know,
<v Speaker 2>they think these two people could be in a Lord
<v Speaker 2>of the Ring style thing or a Game of Threat.
<v Speaker 2>It blends in better to that esthetic for the people
<v Speaker 2>who don't know what Zelda is, right, I do feel
<v Speaker 2>weird saying that they look like they could be in
<v Speaker 2>Lord of the Rings. I get it. Chat. Let me look,
<v Speaker 2>I'm just saying it from a from a visual perspective
<v Speaker 2>people seeing these and not knowing what's going on, but like,
<v Speaker 2>all right, we got medieval fantasy going on, maybe some magic.
<v Speaker 2>We'll see what's happening. Also, from the leaked footage the casting,
<v Speaker 2>I'm gonna butcher this name of dyke in Lochman. I
<v Speaker 2>think that's that's I say it, Dykeman Lockman as Impa
<v Speaker 2>apparently who for those who don't know, she is Miss
<v Speaker 2>Casey in Severance. Yes, is a brilliant She is a fastic,
<v Speaker 2>incredible Yeah, and she's a fantastic actress. So I think
<v Speaker 2>she's gonna She's gonna nail it. I'm very excited for
<v Speaker 2>my wellness session with Impa when that movie comes out
<v Speaker 2>in May of twenty seven. H Dchen, Did I say that?
<v Speaker 4>Is that?
<v Speaker 2>Did I say that wrong? Uh? All right, yeah, I
<v Speaker 2>knew it was gonna butcher it, so thank you for
<v Speaker 2>correcting me. If I did. No, this is exactly what
<v Speaker 2>I was hoping for from a Zelda movie. This is
<v Speaker 2>exactly the kind of thing I want to say. It
<v Speaker 2>is going to be profoundly weird to hear Link speak,
<v Speaker 2>but in the movies he kind of has to, and
<v Speaker 2>I can get over that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm hopeful at the very least, now seeing it
<v Speaker 1>like this, say oh, this movie is going to come out,
<v Speaker 1>You know. I guess I should have known, because if
<v Speaker 1>then Nintendo's been serious about the Sony pictures like they
<v Speaker 1>said they were filming, they got a director and all
<v Speaker 1>that stuff, but just burned so many times on video
<v Speaker 1>game movies. I will see this and I'm hoping it
<v Speaker 1>will live up to all the possibilities. I don't even
<v Speaker 1>say expectations, but just the possibilities of being good. All Right,
<v Speaker 1>That does it? No poll question from Friday? We did
<v Speaker 1>the Big or the Bomb twelve? Excuse me? The Big
<v Speaker 1>list of the Bomb twelve. You guys could check that out.
<v Speaker 1>I'll have a blog post today that goes over that.
<v Speaker 1>We'll have a new link for new submissions to the
<v Speaker 1>Bomb twelve. We'll do that at the end of the
<v Speaker 1>week as always. In the meantime, though, why don't we
<v Speaker 1>do this, Jason? Why don't you tell people where they
<v Speaker 1>could find you on the internet, what you have going
<v Speaker 1>on and all that good stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Jacsonfinelli dot Com, One Blue Sky, big Man Finale, everywhere
<v Speaker 2>else writing news and features and stuff for Game Spot
<v Speaker 2>as usual. I do have one more review for them
<v Speaker 2>before the end of the year, so keep an eye
<v Speaker 2>out for that. Also right for MMO ORPG and a
<v Speaker 2>couple other freelance places here in the hither and thither
<v Speaker 2>around the Internet. I have my own YouTube channel which
<v Speaker 2>I get on once in a blue moon. Maybe I'll
<v Speaker 2>react to the nominees of the Game Awards, which I
<v Speaker 2>have going on on the screen above me here. I
<v Speaker 2>can officially say justice for Jenny Kids. She was not
<v Speaker 2>nominated for Best Performance because it's mostly Exhbision thirty three people.
<v Speaker 2>I did notice there's no dispatch there either.
<v Speaker 1>A dispatch came out probably too late for.
<v Speaker 2>It's no it's an independent game, so no it didn't.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I just mean, like I just for performance reasons,
<v Speaker 1>just like a game like that could still get nominated
<v Speaker 1>that late, but for the conversation around how good the
<v Speaker 1>performance is. That was like it's a show burn and
<v Speaker 1>people were just playing the last episodes and really got
<v Speaker 1>hit by it recently, it was too late for it.
<v Speaker 2>To get I will love I will say though, for
<v Speaker 2>the Degenerates and Chat Best Mobile game nominee Uma Musume
<v Speaker 2>Pretty Derby, y'all can run with that. I've never played it.
<v Speaker 2>I just know that you guys like to talk about it.
<v Speaker 2>But no, the presentation just ended. I'll go through all
<v Speaker 2>those nominees that we talked about it tonight on my
<v Speaker 2>YouTube personal YouTube channel. But yes, that's where you can
<v Speaker 2>find me. Yeah, that's it.
<v Speaker 1>Excellent, all right, thank you so much. Let's see here
<v Speaker 1>we do a new pole question. Do you think that
<v Speaker 1>Zelda movie stills look good?
<v Speaker 3>Yes?
<v Speaker 2>Or no?
<v Speaker 1>We'll talk about that on Game Es Mornings here on
<v Speaker 1>Giant Bomb on Wednesday. Speaking of Giant Bomb, today, we
<v Speaker 1>got to figure some stuff out.
<v Speaker 2>I think we might be doing Monday mornings Missed with Mitch.
<v Speaker 1>But also it's we intend to start up Missed three
<v Speaker 1>here pretty soon, and we'll see if Mike wants to
<v Speaker 1>start that now or next week. Also, I might have
<v Speaker 1>taken a kiddo to the doctor, so we'll see if
<v Speaker 1>I'm even.
<v Speaker 3>Going to be there.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, no, it all, it's all good. It's normal stuff,
<v Speaker 1>but we should have Mega Manton. I. I think Mike
<v Speaker 1>is going to do Monday evening gaming at Mike's at
<v Speaker 1>night tonight.
<v Speaker 3>We'll see what he ends up playing.
<v Speaker 1>And well, our normal week, we'll have the BombCast, we'll
<v Speaker 1>have a Blight Club. We'll be back where Mike will
<v Speaker 1>be playing his Blight in the bank punishment.
<v Speaker 3>He's going to continue leisure Suit Larry h Box Office.
<v Speaker 2>Box Office plus. That reveal might be one of my
<v Speaker 2>favorite twists in YouTube history. That whole Dan is a master,
<v Speaker 2>that's what he's doing.
<v Speaker 3>It was He's a show showman for sure. Yep.
<v Speaker 1>I was very happy with how all that went. I
<v Speaker 1>will still have to go back to my Blight, which
<v Speaker 1>I can't even remember. Oh yeah, it's right, that's Sonic game.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah blast gross. All right, Well that all that all
<v Speaker 1>happened and more. This week we'll let you guys all know.
<v Speaker 1>We'll get some stuff posted to socials, including our calendar.
<v Speaker 1>But in the meantime, Jason, thank you so much for
<v Speaker 1>hanging out with me today and talking about video games.
<v Speaker 3>Man. I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 2>I appreciate you having me. Sorry I couldn't come Friday,
<v Speaker 2>but I'm glad we got.
<v Speaker 3>To do stories.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, absolutely yeah we'll it can happen again real soon.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you all for watching, Thank you all for listening.
<v Speaker 1>You're the best audience in gaming. Until next time, have
<v Speaker 1>a good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
