Speaker 4: Quarterback, Thank you, Sports Radio five nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. Here at Ashley Furniture in Glasgow on South Roger Wells Boulevard. Great crowd of folks here enjoin a you know kind of cold uh over cast day, but Kentucky and gatzag a lot of people.

00:01:18
Speaker 2: On their way uh to the game.

00:01:21
Speaker 4: You get twenty five dollars master car for taking a test rest in the Ashley Mattress gallery. Remember you know, no interest until December twenty thirty on all premium mattresses.

00:01:32
Speaker 2: That's exciting.

00:01:33
Speaker 5: It is how much do I get if I break a lamp.

00:01:36
Speaker 6: To do that?

00:01:37
Speaker 5: I don't pay it. Take naps but not, OK, I got.

00:01:39
Speaker 2: I'm excited.

00:01:40
Speaker 4: I got a new car yesterday, said got the parking to learn it. They've done a lot of car technology since twenty seventeen. Last time I got a car, I didn't realize this car talks to me, brakes me for doing the wrong thing.

00:01:53
Speaker 5: Really yeah, you might need that sometimes, but but.

00:01:57
Speaker 4: I like it, so I get this was my first trip here today and to Glasgow that like, you know win.

00:02:04
Speaker 2: First of all, I guess everybody knew this, but me.

00:02:10
Speaker 5: I'm interested. What you're about to say?

00:02:11
Speaker 2: You need oil in your car? No?

00:02:14
Speaker 4: I always thought, let me ask you a question. Is it didn't It used to be the case, not that long ago.

00:02:20
Speaker 2: You're supposed to change your oil every three thousand miles, wasn't that?

00:02:23
Speaker 4: Wasn't that the thing? Now I didn't do it, but let's be real. But like they put that little sticker and and then I think the last car I had they said five thousand miles that they were like, it's big oil, fooling you telling you it's it's three thousand, it's five thousand. So that's been my assumption. When I got this car they said ten. When did that start? And how did they double it?

00:02:48
Speaker 2: So? Quit?

00:02:48
Speaker 7: You gotta be loving this. I mean, you've proven you can go twenty two thousand.

00:02:52
Speaker 4: Well hold on with the Cadillac. You can go none. Now it'll lock up and end, but you can do it for a long time.

00:02:59
Speaker 2: But when did become ten?

00:03:01
Speaker 8: Were they told everybody ten or just you just to try to get you to do it at all, just stepping you down?

00:03:06
Speaker 4: No, I mean the manufacturers thing says ten. That feels like to me it doubled quickly.

00:03:14
Speaker 5: Gotta be a special type of oils.

00:03:15
Speaker 2: That's it.

00:03:16
Speaker 9: The high end cars, I think you use that synthetic oil. So I think that's probably what you've got now.

00:03:19
Speaker 2: Okay, well I didn't know. I mean I was like, oh, this is great.

00:03:25
Speaker 5: That anyway, I do you?

00:03:27
Speaker 2: I certainly wasn't doing five may I.

00:03:31
Speaker 5: Like the perfect match for you?

00:03:32
Speaker 9: Do you have that butt vibrator that if you get off?

00:03:35
Speaker 2: Is it with you in the word? Now?

00:03:36
Speaker 4: Do you like have a bet to say the word? But every show find a way? No, I mean it has the things like that.

00:03:44
Speaker 9: The butt barbary. Do you get too close off the edge vibrates and you go back to their side vibrates the other side. I enjoyed just kind of going back and forth, swerving off the road all the way to Glasgow. It's Friday and it's payday. Come on, we gotta celebrate a little bit.

00:04:08
Speaker 2: It's not payday?

00:04:09
Speaker 9: Is it is payday for you?

00:04:11
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:04:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, me too. Oh I thought we got paid for first and the fifteenth.

00:04:16
Speaker 5: Not us, not us low on the pase goal.

00:04:19
Speaker 4: Okay, well, never mind, we all work together nine to eight oh twenty two eighty seven. So they did announce yesterday the college basketball.

00:04:34
Speaker 2: First of all, let me give a shout out to college basketball in general.

00:04:37
Speaker 4: This is the best year I can ever remember for there being a ton of really good non conferences.

00:04:44
Speaker 2: Absolutely, I mean, all the.

00:04:46
Speaker 4: Best teams, it feels like, are playing each other. So almost every night you can turn on the TV and see top teams playing each other. I mean, Kentucky and Gonzaga play tonight. You obviously had Duke Arkansas, or see me Duke Florida and Arkansas, Louisville and Kentucky North Carolina, and then they just continue. If you look at the schedule over the next couple of weeks, they're just more of these games coming. I think there's gonna be I think I saw one hundred games in the non conference between ranked teams, wow, which I mean.

00:05:13
Speaker 2: I doubt that's ever happened. So and apparently there have been.

00:05:17
Speaker 4: Matt Norlander wrote, They're just gonna keep doing these. They have found out that nowadays in college basketball, at most schools, people are not gonna pay to come watch you play somebody bad.

00:05:29
Speaker 2: They're just not I mean, you know, at.

00:05:32
Speaker 4: Illinois, they're not coming to watch you play the University of Chicago. Plus the new rankings, the new net and Kim Palm reward you for playing those games even if you lose them. Basically, if you play good teams. You get more of a benefit for playing and losing than you do for beating bad teams. So you're gonna see more of these. And yesterday was announced that there's going to be a preseason college tournament next year. By preseason, I mean non conference, it will count and the games drew will be in Dubai. And they say major conference teams have already agreed to sign up to go to Dubai next year and play basketball. Leave aside any moral quandaries about this continued move American sports to the Middle East.

00:06:20
Speaker 2: What would you support Kentucky playing a tournament in Dubai.

00:06:26
Speaker 4: I mean it would like none of our fans, well, not none, very few of our fans would be able to go. It would probably be at like the games would be at like seven in the morning.

00:06:38
Speaker 2: Here.

00:06:40
Speaker 4: It would just be a money I mean a sheet. You talk about sheerly doing it, solely doing.

00:06:44
Speaker 2: It for money. What would you think of that?

00:06:47
Speaker 5: It feel weird.

00:06:48
Speaker 8: It'll probably pay a lot because Dubai has all the money, maybe the heck, they probably have the game on top of one of those big fancy buildings out there. Brother, I'd much rather just we're gonna fly far. Can we go to MAUI maybe I'm old school if we're gonna make a trip that far, but like a ridiculous trip to make for any team.

00:07:02
Speaker 4: I also don't know why Dubai would want I mean, do people in Dubai know about American college basketball?

00:07:08
Speaker 2: I wouldn't think, So what do you think? You know?

00:07:12
Speaker 9: Pope said he wants to get back to these playing these type of events, kind of these tournaments, so maybe it's something he might be in favor of.

00:07:18
Speaker 4: But this is not one we can go to. I mean, like this game today is in Nashville. It's cool, like you all can go, you know, I mean Saint John's in Atlanta, New York City. I mean that's what we can't go to. The I mean, who's going to Dubai. First of all, it's like the most expensive place in the world.

00:07:33
Speaker 5: We can't go there. We got the bb United BBNA United Classic.

00:07:36
Speaker 8: I would love to see our fans, like our most blue collar fans just take over the streets of Dubai.

00:07:42
Speaker 2: Just people say, up there, but we'll bring Kentucky to them.

00:07:45
Speaker 4: It would be interesting to see, like, you know, some of that. They've got so much money over there. Maybe they would just fly our fans there and be like, come on over here, we want.

00:07:52
Speaker 8: To have fans in the building. Come on, yeah, you laugh.

00:07:57
Speaker 4: I don't think that's actually crazy for them to do, but it'll be interesting to see. But clearly they are doing it next year, and they say, remember the the NIL Classic paid each team a million dollars. There's rumors this tournament will pay each team three to four million dollars in io fo. Wow for some basketball teams, folks that will pay for their entire in alpha. They could go play in that tournament and then they wouldn't even have to worry about raising that money. So I do think Ryan teams are gonna do it. If you tell these teams, I'm gonna give you the money for your whole basketball innil take it.

00:08:34
Speaker 2: They're gonna do it. There's gonna be teams.

00:08:36
Speaker 9: Doing absolutely, they're gonna do that. They'll figure out a way to make it happen. That's a lot of money go to your budget.

00:08:40
Speaker 5: You know.

00:08:41
Speaker 9: I was gonna admit I kind of miss Kentucky not playing in that NIL tournament. We just had all the other big name teams seemed to be playing in it. So if they had this big thing in Dubai and we're not in it, I think I would feel.

00:08:51
Speaker 2: A little left back.

00:08:51
Speaker 4: Again, Matt Norlanders said, the reason we're not paying is we make four to five million from the BBN United Tip Off Classic, and they got one million for going to the place.

00:09:00
Speaker 2: But if Dubai came around and said, we'll give.

00:09:02
Speaker 4: You that four and a half million dollars and you'll be playing against good teams, Drew, I could see us doing it.

00:09:09
Speaker 2: I could. I don't particularly want them to, but I could see it.

00:09:12
Speaker 8: And does this open the door where eventually they'll take interest in a specific team and just like that's there's something ridiculous, you know, I have endless pockets.

00:09:20
Speaker 4: One of the things you've heard me talk about for years and again, this crosses partisan lines. I don't care what side of politics you were on. We should universally be united. And we're giving way too much of our information away to private companies way too easily, and the government's doing it and it's gonna be a disaster one day. The second thing we're gonna regret is normalizing some of these countries with our sporting events. We're gonna regret that one day. I mean, we are Saudi Arabia is the big one. We but Qatar's a little different because they've been our ally for many, many years.

00:09:55
Speaker 2: But still I don't think this is positive.

00:09:58
Speaker 4: And when we start selling shape, which is gonna happen at some point, we're gonna wish.

00:10:03
Speaker 2: We didn't do that down the road. That's just my my prediction.

00:10:07
Speaker 8: They could go to a school and just make them the wealthiest school in America.

00:10:11
Speaker 2: It's gonna be like that for all sports.

00:10:12
Speaker 4: I mean, there's gonna come a time that they're gonna be like, we're not We're gonna get something out of giving this money. And if we're so attached to these I just I think it's a bad decision. Who's up first?

00:10:23
Speaker 2: Is up? CJ? What's up? CJ?

00:10:26
Speaker 10: Hey, what's going on?

00:10:27
Speaker 2: Guys?

00:10:27
Speaker 10: First off, just want to say Drew, congrats on being a girl.

00:10:30
Speaker 2: Dad.

00:10:30
Speaker 10: That's that's that's really cool news. Fatally, I have a hypothetical question for you guys. If I had to give you all the option of either us missing the tournament in basketball this year and going eleven and one ten and two in football next year and making the SEC Championship and the carsketball playoffs.

00:10:51
Speaker 2: I'm already signing up.

00:10:53
Speaker 4: I mean, I'll take one year of missing the tournament to have the greatest football.

00:10:57
Speaker 2: Season in the history of our school, of course.

00:10:59
Speaker 4: I mean, can you imagine what this place would be, what Kentucky would be like if we went eleven and one.

00:11:06
Speaker 2: I mean, can you.

00:11:06
Speaker 4: Imagine what it would be like? Think about our schedule next year. And again, this ain't gonna happen, so I'm not like predicting it, but just think about our schedule. We play Alabama at home, we play LSU at home, we play Florida at home.

00:11:22
Speaker 2: Is that right? Yeah?

00:11:23
Speaker 8: They come back back to back here, Florida.

00:11:25
Speaker 2: Comes back to back years.

00:11:26
Speaker 4: Let's say you win those games, we're on the road at Texas A and M on the road at Oklahoma. If you're telling me I only lose one of those games, which means between Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas A and M, I win three of those games.

00:11:43
Speaker 2: Heck yeah, I'm signing up for that, Drew.

00:11:45
Speaker 8: And you know what, we won't play in the NCAA one year, and it helps being Stein's first year, that could that could just turn into you know, momentum, that could really change the course of football. And honestly, when I look at the basketball team right now, I'm like, heck, they might be able to do that on their own without me playing this game. I mean, I don't mean to be that down, but we have some important games ahead.

00:12:02
Speaker 2: Let me say, if Jalen Low does not.

00:12:04
Speaker 4: Play, I mean, the SEC is not very good this year, so maybe, but like I start to worry about.

00:12:12
Speaker 2: A lot if he doesn't play. That's just my view, but go ahead, sir.

00:12:18
Speaker 10: The other thing I had is, would you guys be willing to make a same game parlay for tonight's game, like go around the four of you guys, And.

00:12:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know about that. I appreciate the call.

00:12:32
Speaker 4: I don't want to be I like picking when I think the fans are gonna win, and I don't. I don't know if I'm I'm not very confident about tonight. I mean, I hope it goes well, but I don't know. Are you not at all well?

00:12:46
Speaker 2: We can pick the unders.

00:12:48
Speaker 4: I do think we can beat Indiana next weekend at home, but I thought we'd beat North Carolina at Hope. Yes, so, but I'm drew. I'm not confident about tonight.

00:12:58
Speaker 8: I'm talking myself into it, but I'll admit it's excitement. I've had tickets since they announced this. I'm using vacation time. It's a rare chance for me to be in the crowd as a fan. If I were just my usual at my computer and this were another night at work, would be the other way. But since I'm have been looking forward to this for months, I'm on the money line and I'm trying to talk myself into it.

00:13:15
Speaker 2: I'm a big believer.

00:13:16
Speaker 4: When Kentucky plays in Nashville, it's the best crowd Kentucky gets in any games when you get when you get people in Nashville for games, I think it's Kentucky's loudest, it's most rambunctious crowd. It's a Friday night. Should be a good atmosphere. I don't know what the ticket situation is, but I'm sure it'll be a good atmosphere. So if Kentucky can't pluck step up, Shannon and play well tonight, even if they lose, that will make me. If we lose like we lost to Michigan State, I'm gonna be pretty down.

00:13:42
Speaker 7: Time to hit the panic button. I think at some point you've got to beat somebody good. You know they've beaten up on these teams. They're ranked three hundredth or worse. You gotta beat somebody in the top twenty five tonight. It's another opportunity. But I'm like you, I'm not that confident about this game today.

00:13:55
Speaker 4: I'm gonna gonna remind people four of our next six games argets Gonzaga, Indiana, Saint John's in Alabama.

00:14:04
Speaker 2: That's four of our next six. Oh, who's next? Doug is up next? Doug? Go ahead, Doug?

00:14:12
Speaker 11: Hey, guys, who's Doug out? In Spokane? This place is buzzing about tonight's game, of course, and I'm with you, guys, I'm pretty worried. But I also want to say congrats to Drew. And I am coming to Cincinnati tomorrow and gonna be in the area. Are you guys gonna be doing a show at the bar next week? By any chance?

00:14:32
Speaker 4: We will next week? Wednesday and Thursday. We will be at the bar next.

00:14:38
Speaker 11: Week, okay, because I've been wanting to come check it out. I just haven't been home in a while, so I'm gonna try to come by and see you guys one of those days.

00:14:45
Speaker 4: Wednesday and Thursday. Hope to see you appreciate the call. And we also have the pregame show on Tuesday before the basketball game.

00:14:51

00:14:52

00:15:07

00:15:12
Speaker 4: I wonder what the cornbread Hemp candle smells. Yep, it smells like you're gonna get arrested. Cornbreadhimp dot com. No, I bet they're nice. Cornbreadhimp dot com. 00:15:36
Speaker 2: This is ks U Waterback. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:15:45
Speaker 4: Here live a five nine two eighty seven. Uh, God just told us that you said it's on a commercial here?

00:15:53
Speaker 2: Is that correct?

00:15:54
Speaker 4: That there's a commercial that runs here in Glasgow about Brandon Stockton, Uh, that he's uh being remission for cancer? So prayers to Brandon Stockton. I don't know whether that's a Is that correct? Yeah, so did not know that, but we wish Brandon the best.

00:16:11
Speaker 9: Glasgow's favorite son there for a long time till Kent Bull and Aaron Fleeer came along. But he was He was a superstar when he was a basketball player over down here?

00:16:18
Speaker 4: Is there any player in history more famous for a chess bumper than Brandon stock.

00:16:22
Speaker 8: I mean my brain goes straight to that chess bump with Toby.

00:16:25
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:16:25
Speaker 8: I think he big in that game before he earned that just he listened.

00:16:28
Speaker 4: He played really well in that game. He's that game at Tennessee. That's a wine that Brandon Stockton.

00:16:34
Speaker 2: Was a huge part of. Also in his prime in high school.

00:16:39
Speaker 4: That dude was electric to watch play basketball. I mean like he could get for a little dude to move like he did. He was absolutely uh electric.

00:16:48
Speaker 9: Well, the story goes Glasgow played in that Lexton Catholic Holiday tournament. Tubby diss I was at that tournament. He was unbelievable and put on such a show. Tubby offered him a scholarship based on how in that tournament.

00:16:57
Speaker 4: You talk about there these like little legends of high school basketball at Kentucky. Brandon Stockton at the Lexington Catholic Christmas Tournament might have been one of the best players I've ever seen. I just kept I went to one game and I just kept going because I was like, this dude, is this dude's crazy? Like because he was just.

00:17:15
Speaker 9: A little guy just everywhere. Could not miss.

00:17:18
Speaker 4: Could I mean, he he was unbelievable in that tournament. I've forgotten about that. Who's up next?

00:17:24
Speaker 2: Roy? Is up next? Roy? Go ahead, Roy?

00:17:28
Speaker 12: Yeah, I'm in Middlebrook, Kentucky.

00:17:30
Speaker 2: How you doing, Matt, Yeah, let me apologize. Roy.

00:17:33
Speaker 4: We beat Mayfield in the state finals, not Murray. I got that wrong, But go ahead.

00:17:39
Speaker 12: Uh. I don't know nothing about that. But I was gonna make a couple of comments then I'll get off here. I'm glad that we got Will Sinned as a football coach, and all right, he's gonna be distude. Comment about the basketball team, Mark Pope said before the season he had to Perira and he couldn't wait to try it out. I think they got forward.

00:18:04
Speaker 2: He did say, to work.

00:18:07
Speaker 13: For this team.

00:18:08
Speaker 12: I think you should go to the drive, drive and I'll get off.

00:18:11
Speaker 2: Okay, Roll, that's a good call. I agree with you.

00:18:14
Speaker 4: He did say, Ryan, I have a Ferrari and I can't wait to try it out.

00:18:19
Speaker 9: I think the keys are still in Jailen Lowe's pocket. I think he's the driver for the Ferrari and we haven't got a chance to see much of it yet.

00:18:25
Speaker 4: So let's be positive for a second, Drew, Let's be optimistic. What are the chances you insert Jayalen Lowe at true point Guardian, you move Aberdeen to the two away and Chandler and Aberdeen kind of switch out. They get, you know, from the two and three, you get h you know, you get a four that's a little diabyte becomes more available because you got a lot of guys who can shoot.

00:18:49
Speaker 2: Yellowitch has gotten a lot better.

00:18:50
Speaker 4: You got Moreno, what are the chances that when you add that piece it all starts to click.

00:18:57
Speaker 8: I think there's a good chance. I still worry about what's going on internally. I don't know what it is, but there is something there and it's not just what we see with our eyes, like these guys like each other. I mean Pope's vague comments uh are problem.

00:19:11
Speaker 5: So being positive though being positive he didn't get the post.

00:19:15
Speaker 8: Well, I'm setting up how special an extraordinary beautiful this can be. I do low will change the offense. Shooting will be an issue, but him just being able to get where he wants with the ball will help get them moving in that read and react at popekes and maybe he'll bring that leadership that they're missing, because part of it right now is they just don't have a teammate that'll get up in somebody's face and fire them up. They don't even really communicate when they're out there, and you think of all the great teams, that's usually a point guard. Maybe it is low Wise on the bench. Even why he's out, someone has to step up and be a vocal leader and look like they care about this group.

00:19:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I wish I wouldn't positive that that was not positive.

00:19:50
Speaker 8: Sorry, So when he gets back, though, that's what I'm saying, he can bring that that leadership even though no one's doing it right now and they should, he can be that piece.

00:19:57
Speaker 2: I'll be a little bit more positive.

00:19:59
Speaker 4: I do think especially Aberdeen will be a lot better at an off guard than he is. He shot too much against North Carolina, but I don't necessarily blame him because I.

00:20:11
Speaker 2: Don't know what else we were gonna do.

00:20:13
Speaker 4: I think if he's in that secondary role, I think we're gonna have to live when Jaalen Lowe comes back with He's gonna take bad shots, right, He's gonna do like you get in Sleuisville, step on the inline or whatever. But he's also gonna I mean, we were twenty points down and he got us to four, and we if we were twenty points down now, we'd all quit watching like it's over. But with him, it gives you a different opportunity. He's gonna make mistakes. I mean we saw that in a couple of games he played, but he just gives you a different thing.

00:20:44
Speaker 7: People will say this is an excuse. I would say to you, back, take three starters off any team in college basketball, and they're.

00:20:51
Speaker 5: Going to struggle. I don't agree who it is. That's what Mark Pope's dealing with.

00:20:55
Speaker 8: If he wants to take bad shots, go ahead. We just went ten minutes about scoring. Kick it in if you will.

00:20:59
Speaker 4: And I also think when and I don't think he's playing tonight, but who knows.

00:21:03
Speaker 2: Pope left it open than he might.

00:21:06
Speaker 4: When Jalen Lowe comes back, I do hope people like give him a break because now we've seen what we're like without him, because I thought people were really harsh on him after me he made those errors at the end of the Louisville game, like we need him. We're not gonna be very good without him. Who's next?

00:21:24
Speaker 2: Aiden? Is up? Next? Aiden? Go ahead? Aiden?

00:21:29
Speaker 10: Hi, I'm att.

00:21:29
Speaker 11: I just got done as my first travel hockey tournament game.

00:21:34
Speaker 2: How'd we do?

00:21:37
Speaker 14: Bro?

00:21:39
Speaker 2: I lost you? Hang on? Aiden, I lost you. You were down and then came back yep.

00:21:45
Speaker 14: And then we were winning eight to five and one.

00:21:49
Speaker 1: I think that's how Kentucky will be.

00:21:51
Speaker 11: He's coming back from losing.

00:21:54
Speaker 4: We need to work on your goalies, like they're giving up a lot of goals.

00:21:58
Speaker 2: You're gonna have to work with him.

00:21:59
Speaker 4: A thanks, So.

00:22:04
Speaker 9: Send a game together with the Hurricanes.

00:22:07
Speaker 11: So these Blue Jackets.

00:22:11
Speaker 2: Well, I I come to UH.

00:22:12
Speaker 4: I usually come to the Blue Jackets Arena every year to watch the Hurricanes. So if you're there for that game, you come say hello. Okay, okay, appreciate it.

00:22:22
Speaker 2: I like Ayden, who's up next? God, Jimmy, up next, Jimmy, go ahead, Jimmy.

00:22:30
Speaker 13: Hey, what's up? Matt and fellas? Uh, we're on the road heading down the Trenton, Noa area for the day for the weekend.

00:22:36
Speaker 2: But I want.

00:22:38
Speaker 13: Yeah, I had a comment about your all you guys talking about Dubai games. Uh, and maybe you know how the money can leak over? Would do the University of Kentucky be a team they would be interested in, of course getting with because of the horses in the Lexington area.

00:22:55
Speaker 4: I hadn't even thought about that. Yeah, I mean I hadn't even That's a great point. I had not thought about that connection. I would think if you're a Dubai and you were wanting to try to have any sort of tournament with international peer appeal, the three programs you'd want to have is Kentucky, Carolina and Duke. You get outside of America to the extent that people know college basketball, they know Kentucky, Duke, and Carolina, So if you're them, you would want to have them.

00:23:21
Speaker 2: I agree with that.

00:23:23
Speaker 4: Yeah, go appreciate it. That's a really good point. About the horses. We'll take a break and be right back at Ashley Furniture. This is KSR water Back, it is Kentucky Sports Radio here live in Glasgow.

00:23:36
Speaker 2: Great crowd at Ashley Furniture. No interest.

00:23:38
Speaker 4: Until December twenty thirty. Glasgow and Somerset have Ashley Furnitures. Go see them, by the way. Our pregame show starts tonight at four thirty postgame, after the game UK Volleyball and the UK basketball game going on at the same time, we'll have them both at ks bar and then for the rest of ks today we'll have the high school If you want to watch the high school finals, they'll be on. We will not be showing it at seven because we have to show the volleyball game, but all the other high school football games this weekend. You if you don't want to sit out in the cold, you can watch them at kspar and not have to freeze.

00:24:16
Speaker 2: Here's an interesting fact. In that Lexing Catholic tournament we were.

00:24:20
Speaker 4: Talking about, Bourbon County beat Glasgow in the semifinals. Seventy one sixty seven of the sixty seven Glasgow points fifty one were scored by Brandon Star unbelievable fifty one of the sixty seven points.

00:24:37
Speaker 5: Wow.

00:24:37
Speaker 4: I actually think I watched that game when they lost to them. That's a pretty amazing thing.

00:24:42
Speaker 9: I guess Bourbon County may have had Preston le Master on that team.

00:24:46
Speaker 4: Actually, you're probably right about that. You are probably right, all right? Speaking of high school four a who's playing.

00:24:51
Speaker 9: That's the late game tonight. Franklin County, who's had a great run the last ten years, but they always run into a team called Boyle County.

00:24:58
Speaker 2: It's a battle, I mean, these are There'll be a lot.

00:25:00
Speaker 4: It's probably be the most highly attended game, don't you think of the of the thing. Franklin County and Boyle County both bring big fans.

00:25:07
Speaker 2: How what you got?

00:25:08
Speaker 9: You know? Boyle County also has a player that lives thirty minutes away from Lexington.

00:25:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think a coach might have missed mentioned him the last night. By the way, state of Kentucky has four top two hundred in the country football players next year. Probably one of the better high school football classes in Kentucky in a long time. Four of them in the top two hundred. This kid from Boyle County, Seneca Drivers, one of them, but just bringing in a coach who's prioritizing Kentucky recruiting.

00:25:34
Speaker 2: It's a big year coming up next year. But go ahead, I'm going Boyle County.

00:25:39
Speaker 8: I gotta go with my namesake Franklin County, especially after how Boyle.

00:25:43
Speaker 7: Got to see Larry Vatt Right, he's the big celebrity out of Boyle County. So I'm gonna go with the fighting Larry Vaults and Boyle County.

00:25:50
Speaker 4: I mean, when you look at Larry vaults Hare, that says things are happening in Boyle County.

00:25:54
Speaker 5: That correlates.

00:25:55
Speaker 2: So I'm gonna take Boyle County. Well, you got fifty five.

00:25:57
Speaker 9: A five A is Owensborough, who has kid is probably mister football, Evan Hampton, who is committed to Vanderbilt to play football. They play, They play Pulaski County. Who's coming to the restaurant tomorrow.

00:26:10
Speaker 2: I'm taking Pulaski County.

00:26:11
Speaker 4: If the Maroons wanna have a good burger and wings and tater kegs, then they're good enough for me.

00:26:17
Speaker 9: What do you got, I'm going to my own hometown, Owensborough.

00:26:20
Speaker 4: Keep going against these teams that are given coming and spending money with us.

00:26:24
Speaker 9: I'm going for Pulaski County.

00:26:27
Speaker 4: And I also have to remind you every time you just said they were coming, what do you you guys?

00:26:32
Speaker 8: I gotta go with the Maroon, So I'm big on Maroon mascot. So I will take Pulaski County.

00:26:36
Speaker 2: And then finally, was it to Louisville. Who's Who's in the Who's in the sixth?

00:26:40
Speaker 9: South Warren plays a team called Trinity.

00:26:44
Speaker 4: Well, I mean normally I would take South Warren because Trinity Mafia, but we just hired a Trinity guy, and so for at least one year, I've got to take Trinity. I will take Trinity only because of will Stein and honestly Debbie Stein and her Sistan.

00:26:59
Speaker 2: Yes, so I'll take Trinity.

00:27:01
Speaker 9: Uh, you gotta go with Trinity. They're just a machine out there. They keep just pumping out these great football talent. But you know, now, the Trinny of Mafias, we may get some of those players. We had any Trainity kids. It seems like in Forever they got a big classy.

00:27:13
Speaker 8: I'm going with Trinity. I need Trinity fans to be in a good mood, so you will donate to Kentucky. I know some people have said we have enough, we can always use more. So Trinity, please move your dollars to Lexington if you would like have a great game.

00:27:23
Speaker 2: Mitch does not want your money. He says, we have plenty. That's right. I think that was a bad decision too.

00:27:28
Speaker 5: What do you make it a clean sweep? It's Trinity, all right?

00:27:31
Speaker 2: Who's up next? Seth is up next?

00:27:33
Speaker 12: Seth?

00:27:34
Speaker 2: Go ahead, seth.

00:27:37
Speaker 6: Hey, guys that are going it's doing doing great, all right. I had eight brothers and sisters. And Daddy said that the girls were easier to raise some of the boys.

00:27:53
Speaker 2: Oh really, okay, so advice for true.

00:27:56
Speaker 6: I'm all in on Kentucky tonight. And yeah, we've got to have this one. I'm all in. And I got one thing for you, mom.

00:28:06
Speaker 2: Okay, I have.

00:28:07
Speaker 6: Eight brothers and sisters. I have the brothers and sisters. And Daddy took the boys to the Methodist church, and Mama took the girls to the Baptist church. Okay, thank you, I'm out here.

00:28:21
Speaker 14: Why was that, by the way, We'll be just didn't see either, aye, I guess, I mean, I'm just the children.

00:28:31
Speaker 4: But what but they decided half the kids would be Methodists and half would be Baptists.

00:28:38
Speaker 6: Yeah, mother took the five girls to the Baptist and Daddy took us three boys to the Methodist.

00:28:47
Speaker 5: Interesting, I don't wonder who turned out better.

00:28:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good question. Which which one worked? Which one worked better?

00:28:55
Speaker 6: Well, I can't tell you that.

00:28:58
Speaker 2: I mean.

00:29:01
Speaker 6: Yes for stuff I don't know, I won't.

00:29:06
Speaker 2: I like you, I appreciate the call. There's more to explore with. Yes, there is. There's a lot going on. I like Roy.

00:29:14
Speaker 9: You gotta wonder what the reasoning behind was telling the girls of the Baptist Church the boys of the Methodist church had to be something.

00:29:19
Speaker 5: Well, they said that. The parents didn't agree, They.

00:29:21
Speaker 2: Didn't see how to, but they split them by by jess.

00:29:23
Speaker 9: So why didn't they send the girls of the Methodist and the boys of the Baptist. Why they picked that way? There's gotta be something.

00:29:28
Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. Don't get so aggressive it's gonna keep me up.

00:29:31
Speaker 5: Don't overthink it.

00:29:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think they were just like the man gets the men and the women get. That's about just my gas. I don't know that. But you don't need to be so angry about it.

00:29:41
Speaker 2: Who's up next? Rich? Go ahead? Rich?

00:29:46
Speaker 14: Hey, good morning fellas. Happy Friday to y'all.

00:29:50
Speaker 2: Good morning. Hey.

00:29:52
Speaker 14: So I was I don't know if this has been talked about a bit, but i'd been reading into this a little bit. Uh, the contracts for some of these players. I'm just kind of wondering if it's been really talked about or thought about that maybe we should look into having these individuals not have you know, they're playing. It's kind of like the Shadon Sharp situation. I'm looking at again, where you got players that should be possibly pay for play, maybe put something up front, and then the back end of it. Maybe they got to be playing because they're getting all these resources.

00:30:26
Speaker 2: And yeah, but I mean, okay, so I say this.

00:30:30
Speaker 4: This gets suggested every couple of weeks, and I'm gonna give you the same answer I give everybody else.

00:30:35
Speaker 2: I got a question for you.

00:30:36
Speaker 4: You got a job, all right, and then that job there are two different jobs you're choosing from. And then one of them they say I'll give you one hundred thousand dollars, and then the other job they say I'll give you fifty. And then if you play well or you play all the games, you'll get the other fifty which one you take it? Okay, which one you take it? And half you're gonna take the one that only pays you if you play. Well, you're not gonna take the one that guarantees you the money.

00:31:04
Speaker 14: Well, that's what I'm looking at why we're putting these contracts in. And we're not looking at because.

00:31:08
Speaker 4: There's other Because there's because the other there are other people competing for these players.

00:31:14
Speaker 2: You gotta remember, like, this is not the NBA where.

00:31:18
Speaker 4: All the teams go through collective bargaining and they agree to give one kind of contract. So the Knicks have to give the same kind of contract that the Lakers do. They don't get to do They might give more money, but they don't get to do different kind of contracts. The college football system college sports system is a free market.

00:31:38
Speaker 2: You can give whatever kind of contracts you want.

00:31:40
Speaker 4: So let's say Kentucky takes the position, we're only gonna give you money if you succeed, or we're only gonna give you money if you don't quit, or we're only gonna give you money.

00:31:49
Speaker 2: If you don't get hurt.

00:31:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, but these other teams are gonna give them guaranteed money. So why would they not just go there and get their guaranteed money.

00:31:58
Speaker 14: I just I just feel like because we're so hot, high profile, and there's a lot more benefits.

00:32:03
Speaker 4: Well, guess what that's wrong? Well, that's wrong. And here I'll give you an example as to why. Let's look at the college football recruiting class that just signed Wednesday. It's a great, great story by Bud Foster, who wrote a pretty amazing thing that I couldn't believe college football has. For years, the top players have loaded up with a handful of schools, not this year. Top ten players in college football this year, guess what? How many of them signed with teams playing in the playoff this year? One only one of the ten teams. One of the top ten players agreed to sign to the top ten top teams. Guess where the top two quarterbacks in America signed? Vanderbilt and Houston. That's where the top two quarterbacks in America. Vanderbilt in Houston. Why because Vanderbilt in Houston offered them more money than Georgia and our Obama. And I think the Georgia and Alabama's of the world, hang on, sir. The Georgia and Alabamas of the world think that they can just give because it's Georgia and Alabama.

00:33:09
Speaker 2: And guess what, it ain't working like that anymore.

00:33:13
Speaker 4: The difference in the college football rankings from number one and number thirty five is the same difference in points as number one and number eight seven years ago.

00:33:26
Speaker 2: It's all bunched up.

00:33:28
Speaker 14: Do I understand that that's college football? I think I had you on the wrong track.

00:33:32
Speaker 4: College basketball is exactly College basketball is exactly the same way the number one player aj Debonsa went to BYU. You think he went to BYU because he loved being at BYU.

00:33:46
Speaker 2: He went there because they offered him the most money.

00:33:49
Speaker 4: We lost players last year in the portal to UCLA and Michigan because they offered more money.

00:33:57
Speaker 14: I'm speaking on the injury this time. This injury for Jaden, for instance, is a great example of someone who is utilizing benefits of the university for branding, for all of his rehab. He gets that for free pro scouting, all of that. But here we have an individual who could be in the same situation as Shaden and never play okay on the floor.

00:34:19
Speaker 4: So what would you, Well, we might that's the risk you take. But if if we didn't here's a little secret, if Jayden, if we didn't give Jaden Quaytons that money, somebody else would have.

00:34:32
Speaker 14: That's correct, But he is so impactful and when you have one player compared to football where you you might be able to work around several more players and figure it out.

00:34:41
Speaker 2: When I'm gonna stop you. I appreciate the call.

00:34:44
Speaker 4: Maybe you don't think we should have recruited Jaden Quainton's I do because I do think he's gonna play. If he ends up not playing, that'll be a different conversation. But Drew, if Kentucky and i Was State or offering the same amount of money, I think Kentucky will get the kid nine out of ten times. But if Kentucky's offering five hundred thousand and Iowa State's offering a million, that kid's going to tames.

00:35:12
Speaker 2: Yeah. Like that's just how it is, and we just have to get used to that. Just being Kentucky is not enough.

00:35:18
Speaker 8: I know, and fans don't like to hear it, but I know we think of Kentucky as the gold standard. A lot of high school kids don't. I mean, it's been over ten years since we've been to a Final four. I hate saying this out loud, but in two years we'll have one title in thirty seasons. I know we all think hilly of Kentucky, but sometimes these seventeen year olds aren't thinking the same way we are, and dollars are gonna win out most of the time.

00:35:38
Speaker 4: Fandy's undefeated in basketball right now. That's right, yeah, you know, I mean things are, They're just it's different now, and you can sit there and wish it was different.

00:35:46
Speaker 2: But it is what it is, and we have to compete.

00:35:49
Speaker 4: If pain, stiffness, or a numbing sensation prevent you from enjoying watching your favorite team, go to court physical Therapy.

00:35:55
Speaker 2: They can help.

00:35:56
Speaker 4: They've been Kentucky's go to physical therapy group for athletes, fans and average Joe's. You can until the end of the year. If you've already met your deductibles, it could be free. Don't be in pain. Go to court dot com. That's ko RT dot com. We'll take a break of me right back here at Ashley Furniture.

00:36:11
Speaker 2: This is ks R quarter Back.

00:36:16
Speaker 4: It is Turkey Sports Radio here live at Ashley Furniture. It's time for our KSR parlay. We were hit three again. We're always getting one short. But now we're gonna we're gonna get it right here. This is you go to KS go to DraftKings, put your promo code KSR bet five.

00:36:35
Speaker 2: If you win, you get two hundred dollars. Sha.

00:36:37
Speaker 4: I'm gonna let you go first. We're gonna pick the major conference championship games. B YU Texas Tech.

00:36:43
Speaker 5: What's spread twelve and a half for Texas Tech?

00:36:46
Speaker 2: Twelve and a half? Texas Tech? Who you got?

00:36:47
Speaker 5: I'm gonna take b Yu and the half?

00:36:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, you getting twelve and a half. I think that's a good one. I like it all right. Drew Indiana Ohio State.

00:36:56
Speaker 8: Oh, it's a four point spread. I'll say Ina covers the four. I'll believe in the Hoosiers to at least keep it around a field goal game.

00:37:05
Speaker 2: See, I would have taken Ohio State, but I trust you you're gonna go Indiana.

00:37:08
Speaker 8: I've missed one the entire college football season. I've just been carrying this parlay, all.

00:37:13
Speaker 2: Right, one one season? All right?

00:37:15
Speaker 4: Duke in Virginia is the one. I'll pick. Which one? You got? What's the spread there?

00:37:20
Speaker 5: Duke in Virginia.

00:37:21
Speaker 4: Virginia's a four point four. Take Virginia to cover. They're gonna crush them, So I will take Virginia. So we got Virginia, we got Indiana, we got BYU. I am not letting Ryan pick. We've learned. So mem is here in the crowd. She's the one that thanked Bob Huggins if you remember a few years ago on video. So Georgia and Alabama and the SEC championship, what's a spread, Channon.

00:37:43
Speaker 5: Two and a half for Georgia.

00:37:46
Speaker 2: You got Georgia, Alabama, Georgia. All right, I ain't go.

00:37:50
Speaker 4: That's who I would have picked as well. So Georgia, Indiana, b YU in Virginia. I think we're cashing tickets there, and Ryan will let you bet it even though you didn't to contribute.

00:38:01
Speaker 9: I kind of stictly hope BYU win. That'll show throw the whole college football playoffs in a whack.

00:38:06
Speaker 2: Well, the one that'll throw it in a whack is if Duke beats Virginia.

00:38:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, if Duke beats Virginia, then no one in the ACC will make the like because Duke, they're they're not high enough in the standing. So if Duke beats Virginia, Duke will not make the playoff and the ACC will get no teams in the playoff, which, by the way, means a huge amount of money not going to the ACC. So, like, in all seriousness, for those of us that don't want to see Duke in Carolina and Louis will be good at basketball, Duke winning tomorrow will cost the ACC.

00:38:42
Speaker 2: I think it's something like six million dollars of school.

00:38:45
Speaker 8: Say no more anything that punishes Duke in North toll You actually want to root for Duke football tomorrow because Duke basketball, oddly by winning may hurt Duke football.

00:38:55
Speaker 4: Excuse me, Duke football winning may hurt Duke basketball, which I think is kind of.

00:39:00
Speaker 8: All And I oddly feel a connection to Duke football because we did our show in their press box and they're really nice. Now I'm not pro Duke. Don't get this twisted, but I do. They were not kind to us when we went through and let us.

00:39:09
Speaker 2: Do the show there.

00:39:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, if they win, and then I think it's got to be Tulane and James Madison win, then Tulane and James Madison will both make the playoff. Wow, and Duke will not, which is kind of insane. Who's up next?

00:39:24
Speaker 2: Terry is up next? Terry? Go ahead, Terry.

00:39:28
Speaker 15: Yeah, Man, I missed the first hour. So did something come out that I don't know about, because yesterday Pope acted like Lowell might give it a shot tonight. And when I heard you earlier, you said if he doesn't play at all, we're gonna be in trouble, all right, for the whole year.

00:39:44
Speaker 4: So yeah, no, I mean, I do think Lowe is gonna play this year. I'm just saying, Okay, if for whatever, I don't know if he's gonna play tonight, I think he probably won't, but I do think he'll play this year. There's nothing that if Pope said he was gonna try, I assume he will.

00:40:01
Speaker 2: I was just saying, theoretically, if he didn't play.

00:40:04
Speaker 15: And then my other thing, do you guys have uh and you might mention this in the first hour, And I apologize if you did. Do any of you have any inclination? Who will Stein may be planning for the defensive coordinator And I'll hang up and.

00:40:18
Speaker 2: Listen, Drew.

00:40:18
Speaker 4: I was not actively on the message board world yesterday.

00:40:23
Speaker 2: Is the is the rumor? Still?

00:40:25
Speaker 4: It's not Charlie Strong, It's is it, Evan. What's the guy's name. What's the name of the guy?

00:40:30
Speaker 5: I don't have it.

00:40:30
Speaker 8: I know if Charlie Strong was rumored, I don't think that would be it.

00:40:33
Speaker 4: There's someone else. There is a name out there. Maybe somebody old will forget. There is a name floating around, but I'm not. I can't remember off the top of my head who it is. Who's next?

00:40:43
Speaker 2: Jay Rock? Is next? Jay Rock? Go ahead?

00:40:48
Speaker 9: Hey, what's up, y'all?

00:40:49
Speaker 12: A few things?

00:40:49
Speaker 13: Shout out me?

00:40:50
Speaker 15: Mo, y'all got quit taken?

00:40:52
Speaker 13: Are you of ail?

00:40:53
Speaker 6: People?

00:40:54
Speaker 13: And?

00:40:54
Speaker 12: Uh?

00:40:54
Speaker 11: What is the three things you.
