Ryan, I love being here in part because we've got a great crowd. In part you get these people waiting to get their car fixed, and they're like, why is this guy yelling right as we're waiting to get our car fixed. But nevertheless, and this guy in the green, he's not looked up from the television. He has absolutely no interest in what's going on. Even as I say this, Ryan, I always enjoy that.

00:01:34
Speaker 5: Well, they got the service of the waiting.

00:01:35
Speaker 6: They are right by our show, so why don't they can sit there and enjoy the Show's going to watch TV.

00:01:38
Speaker 3: Thank you to those of you that are looking over here. He ain't gonna do it for the show's over. He's gonna look.

00:01:43
Speaker 2: He doesn't know you're talking about.

00:01:44
Speaker 3: I don't think he does. I like it, Drew Franklin. Nice to be here with you, dude. Yes's good to see you all. A nice waiting room up there. They won't be here long.

00:01:51
Speaker 7: That's the good thing about being at Don Franklin.

00:01:52
Speaker 4: They take good care, right quick service.

00:01:54
Speaker 7: Coffee over there a great place to hang out.

00:01:56
Speaker 5: I think you.

00:01:56
Speaker 3: Could make an argument that this is I don't know, you think this is the biggest two sport weekend of the year here in Lexington. I mean, you know, I guess you could say the basketball game doesn't count. But I don't know that we're gonna have a Friday night game that's gonna be bigger than playing Perdue, number one team in the country in an exhibition and then you're one of your biggest rivals in football the next night. I'm not sure, Shannon, do you get a bigger one two weekends?

00:02:28
Speaker 2: And I don't think that you do. I'm trying to think what would even come close that has happened so far this year. And even though it's an exhibition game, I think tonight it's going to feel like it is a non conference regular season game, like a big game.

00:02:39
Speaker 3: I think it is too. I think it is too. I'm actually I'm looking forward to a big day. I'm going to Keenland contemplating looking Shannon like Bradshaw suit.

00:02:49
Speaker 4: And cowboys hat.

00:02:50
Speaker 2: That's good look for me.

00:02:51
Speaker 4: I saw Drew hat on the cowboy hat last Friday. I'm thinking about doing suit and cowboy hat.

00:02:55
Speaker 2: Don't forget the towel around your neck. Youta have the towel.

00:02:58
Speaker 4: I think it'll look weird if I'm wearing suit and sweat.

00:03:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, but but if you're out there today, please say hello, and then I'm gonna I'm gonna actually wear the same outfit to the game tonight because I'm going to the game.

00:03:11
Speaker 5: Well, then you have to wear the cowboy hat. We got to see it you want.

00:03:13
Speaker 3: I don't know if I can walk a rena in rupp aerena with a suit and a cawboy.

00:03:16
Speaker 2: Nobody wants to be sitting behind the guy with a cowboy hat on either. That's the worst.

00:03:20
Speaker 4: But we will see h Are you looking forward to tonight?

00:03:23
Speaker 7: Very much excited about tonight's game? It's an exhibition. Don't tell me that I don't care. I'm treating this like it's march. I think the whole atmosphere will be like it's marching there. That's where I feel, even though it won't affect seating or the resume. Don't tell me that I'm excited about it.

00:03:37
Speaker 4: I look this morning.

00:03:38
Speaker 3: By the way, some tickets have dropped this morning. I would say, if you want to go, but now I got a feeling it'll get more expensive as the day goes on. But I think I saw tickets for like sixty bucks. You get to see the number one team in the country gets Kentucky for sixty bucks. That's pretty good, I would think so.

00:03:55
Speaker 4: Uh.

00:03:56
Speaker 3: But I do expect a really good atmosphere people just excitement for basketball. Uh, and then having the number one team. I love the fact they changed the rules to where this can happen.

00:04:05
Speaker 6: Right, This is to me what we've been waiting for. You know that we ought about this basketball team. We get to see him tonight and oh yeah, by the way, they happen to play the number one team in the country.

00:04:14
Speaker 5: This is what we've been waiting months and months for. I'll say this. You know, my son this is now a freshman at UK.

00:04:19
Speaker 6: He goes we can't get tickets like the student tickets apparently are gone.

00:04:22
Speaker 5: You know that's a good sign.

00:04:23
Speaker 4: Well, this is uh. I can see students are excited. You know.

00:04:28
Speaker 3: I had a Purdue fan write me last night. Produce played a couple of these games, so they've played. Even though this is the first year you can do it like an official one, they've had what secret scrimmage games or whatever.

00:04:38
Speaker 4: They've done a couple of these.

00:04:40
Speaker 3: They played a couple of years against Arkansas pre cow getting there. I think last year they played somebody, I can't remember who they said, but he said, uh, Drew, that they that Matt Pater will play his whole team, that he will play his whole team, that he wants to win, but he basically plays the whole group and then lets the chips fall where they may. I think if they do that, you gotta think, Drew, we do the same.

00:05:04
Speaker 7: Right, I'm picturing for thirty five minutes, you're gonna see a lot of experimenting. Some guys farther down the bench will play more than they normally would if this were a January game. But then when it gets to about five minutes, if it's still close, I think you're gonna see them walk in like this is an Elite eight. I mean, they're both teams are gonna want to win this still that they'll they'll be working on things.

00:05:23
Speaker 3: Does that make the result matter less if they're playing the twelfth man for both teams?

00:05:28
Speaker 2: The result only matters if Kentucky wins, because if we lose, we got two guys who were starters who were out with low acquaintance who won't be playing right. So if we if we lose the game, we could say, well we lost with it, But if we beat the number one team without two of our best players, look at national championship.

00:05:44
Speaker 4: I don't on a.

00:05:45
Speaker 3: Personal level, I don't look at acquaintance like that, just because it's gonna be so long until he plays, and I I mean, I assume he'll start when he comes back, but I'm not. I do think Low changes how I look at it. Mark Pope said yesterday that Low is basically he's gonna put him back on the court in a week, which you know, that was kind of what we were hearing. But that's a deep breath moment because if he's just out a week or two, I think the the plan is to try to play him exactly what I Drew had said he wanted one game before the Louisville game and then into the Louisville game. I think after you saw that injury at Blue White, Ryan, that's about best possible scenario, right.

00:06:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, great news.

00:06:27
Speaker 6: What Pope said yesterday about he said, you know, he's in no pain. He was shooting around some and practice they're gonna hold him out of a live contact for another week or so. But it was just I think it was a great update that the fact that he's not gonna be out near as long as we were fearful that he might be.

00:06:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, I wasn't work. I was worried.

00:06:43
Speaker 3: Actually, I was worried when I when I saw him on the ground Friday night, I was worried because I think it was the amount of pain that he was in. It looked to me made me think, uh, oh, so I think this is like great news.

00:06:57
Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I mean this time a week ago or tonight, week ago, people were wondering it could be months. You know, if you were there, I know people heard him yell at popped and you don't want to hear that. And when he's rolling around on the ground and pain, Pope cutting it off immediately, you could tell. Pope even admitted yesterday he's like, I was just as terrified everybo.

00:07:14
Speaker 3: I mean, he said he said he was embarrassed because he was shook a little bit chitted. He said, I I actually was shook a little bit, which he acknowledged.

00:07:22
Speaker 2: That's why he called off the game exactly. I mean, if all the times to lose with your star players. You don't want it to be in a meaning unless blue white game. The good news is, though it looks like he's pretty much back to full strength, and I think that this were a regular season game, he would probably play.

00:07:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, he might play.

00:07:37
Speaker 3: So so that's Friday. Now Saturday is UK versus Tennessee and football.

00:07:44
Speaker 4: You feel good about that one.

00:07:45
Speaker 2: Let's talk more about Friday.

00:07:49
Speaker 4: Kentucky is still only a seven and a half point favorite. Is that? I mean, that's that's not a lot.

00:07:55
Speaker 5: I think given us too much credit for what we did against Texas last weekend.

00:07:58
Speaker 3: I mean I kinda think, yes, but I mean in my heart, and I've actually been pretty good this year at dialing into Like if you look at my scores, I think I've been close and almost all called the Texas game last year, and I called the South Carolina. I mean I was going the Georgia score basically. Now I was gone for uh for Eastern Michigan. But the first couple I feel bad because, like, I.

00:08:24
Speaker 4: Think we're gonna get run tomorrow. I do. I mean, I think we're gonna lose by three or four touchdowns. And I hope I'm wrong.

00:08:32
Speaker 3: I want to be wrong, but I just kind of feel like this matchup and we got beat up against Texas and they you know, now they did play Alabama, but I don't feel great about it.

00:08:43
Speaker 7: It's not a good matchup with how Brad White plays defense. You know, the Texas and even Georgia. Your style can have you in it, but Tennessee just scores too many points. I mean, Kentucky will have to be in the mid twenties to even be in it. And it's just like, do we have any faith we can get in the mid tex Now they took us and that's like your floor of trying to win the game.

00:09:02
Speaker 4: Well, I mean, look at the last ten years.

00:09:04
Speaker 3: Right in this game, we've won I think twice, but I think we've gotten blown out in almost every other game. So I feel like that that's kind of how I feel like.

00:09:13
Speaker 4: This is gonna go.

00:09:13
Speaker 7: U was undefeated too, He's been lighting them up.

00:09:15
Speaker 6: Drew said it, you know, we have to score somewhere in the mid twenties or higher to win the game. Do you have any confidence whatsoever your offense can do that.

00:09:22
Speaker 2: That means you're got to score touchdowns on defense or special teams.

00:09:26
Speaker 3: Well, I mean it also means Bush Hampden might have to score two touchdowns in the inn SEC game for only the second time ever. I mean, that's an amazing statistic. I just want you to think about that for a second. I mean, he's been the he has coached thirteen games against power for schools, if you include Louisville, we have scored two offensive touchdowns only once.

00:09:53
Speaker 5: Let that's see.

00:09:54
Speaker 4: I mean, I don't even know what you say about that.

00:09:56
Speaker 3: And in that game, one of them was a fumble in the end zone that we recovered. Like, I don't know, Ryan, I mean, it's hard to see a scenario because you're not gonna stop.

00:10:05
Speaker 4: Tennessee under twenty. I mean they just scored.

00:10:07
Speaker 3: To me, now, their defense will if we had a good offense, their defense will give up a ton of points. It's just we don't necessarily have the offense to do that.

00:10:16
Speaker 5: Do we take any you know, hope Cutter Bully in the offense did look better.

00:10:20
Speaker 2: They did have a lot of passing yards.

00:10:22
Speaker 5: They put up some good numbers. They just couldn't get in the end zone.

00:10:24
Speaker 3: Well, I think that means we might score I'll fun but otherwise I would. I mean, I would feel even.

00:10:30
Speaker 7: Work, we can't score in the red zone. We were actually in care. We're pretty bad at it. Tennessee's defense is one hundred and thirty first out of one hundred and thirty two in the red zone, Like they let teams in. So if there's ever an opportunity, I mean, Texas is maybe the best defense in the country. And sure I didn't light up the scoreboard, but Kentucky was at least moving the ball, and Cutter Buwy was a little we saw some composure another step forward. Tennessee's defense will give up some points if they're able to play a little bit like they did last week.

00:10:56
Speaker 3: I don't know what the stats, don't I saw this stat at some point. I don't remember the specifics, but to what Drew just said, in the last five years really since Liam the first time, so you're talking Skangarello, Liam the return, and then the years of our guy Bush, so four years whatever we have had, right, we've been like the fourth worst team in the country at touchdowns in the red zone, like we've We've actually scored a lot of field goals, but we don't get it in the end zone.

00:11:31
Speaker 4: Once we get it in the red zone.

00:11:32
Speaker 3: As matter of fact, we've almost i think scored as many touchdowns from the fifteen back as we have from the fifteen end, which is crazy because we're not a big zone We're not a big play team.

00:11:42
Speaker 4: Either usually, but we just we really struggle in the red.

00:11:44
Speaker 6: Zone, and you know we are. We've talked about the our receiver room. You know, that's where they could help us. You know, probably maybe the guy just can't get open down there and they get pushed around.

00:11:52
Speaker 2: I think it's a conservative play calling.

00:11:54
Speaker 4: I think I agree with that. I think it is.

00:11:55
Speaker 3: I think sometimes, especially like when you're in the five, you got to do something. Sometimes you got to be creative. Think about Andy Reid and what they do inside to five. I mean, think about Kansas City and what they do with my homes and what they do with Kelsey and those guys and Shandon.

00:12:10
Speaker 4: We don't. We're going up the middle, and if you clog up the middle, we're not.

00:12:14
Speaker 2: And we're just content with a phil goal at that point at least we'll get three.

00:12:17
Speaker 4: You know.

00:12:17
Speaker 2: That feels like the mentality when you get down in the red zone.

00:12:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's it hasn't worked for us.

00:12:23
Speaker 6: So you mean jumping from the three yard line trying to jump over the last scrimmage is not a good call.

00:12:27
Speaker 4: All right? More likely today beat Perdue, cover the spread against Tennessee, beat Purdue. I mean the odds would.

00:12:38
Speaker 3: Say more likely to cover the spread against Tennessee.

00:12:41
Speaker 2: You would say beat I would say, beat Purdue even without two of our players. Okay, just because I don't know how that game is exactly going to be played.

00:12:47
Speaker 7: I would also say beat Purdue.

00:12:49
Speaker 5: I think that's a no brainer. I think it's beat Purdue overcovering that spread.

00:12:53
Speaker 3: I mean that spread is so small, That's the thing. I'm shocked by it. If you had asked me what the spread would be, I would have and drew thirteen and.

00:13:01
Speaker 4: A half, fourteen and a half.

00:13:04
Speaker 3: And when you when I saw seven and a half, I mean, I don't I don't bet against the Cats, but I mean I'd be tempted in that one. That's that's one of the weirdest spreads I've.

00:13:15
Speaker 7: Seen in years for a Kentucky game, and it's moved two points towards Kentucky. Yeah, it's one of those games where actually it's making me think, well, you know what of my missing every couple of times in a season, it's like, all right, Vegas, something's up because this doesn't make sense. And then it could be one of those where they really think something happened to that Texas game. It took a step forward.

00:13:33
Speaker 3: Ryan Tonight half on my postgame show for the basketball game. So I'm doing the postgame show tonight. I mean, I'm excited because it's always nice to do the first time we've seen him play. Who's the player I'm talking about tonight? Who's the I mean, it's it's not gonna be Low, It's not gonna be Quaintan's probably not gonna be Oldway. We know what Olway is, so let's put them to the side of everybody else.

00:13:52
Speaker 4: Who am I talking about in the post game show?

00:13:54
Speaker 5: I think you're talking about Denzel Aberdeen. I think he's the guy.

00:13:56
Speaker 6: He's gonna play you to start a point guard, you know everything Pope says. He's just glowing about what he can do in practice and how much of a better player he was than he thought.

00:14:04
Speaker 5: I think it's Aberdeen.

00:14:05
Speaker 7: It's sophomore Colin Chandler. We're not gonna wait to get into the sophomore Colin Chandler experience. The breakout begins tonight. Number one team. We don't have to wait for the BBN United tip Off Classic because an about Kentucky tourism or Louisville or the Champions Classic. Let's just release sophomore Colin Chandler.

00:14:22
Speaker 2: I hate to repeat what he just said, but I was going to say Colin Chandler before he said that, So I guess that would be my pick as well, Colin Chandler tonight.

00:14:28
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:14:28
Speaker 3: I think it's gotta be somebody that shoots the ball well because Purdue is very good in interior defense. Over the years, they always seem to have, going back ten years, some dude that can can really protect the paint. So I think it's got to be somebody outside. I like all of your picks just to be different. I'm gonna say Jasper Johnson. I'm gonna say that he looks really good.

00:14:52
Speaker 4: That's for you. That's for you, Mario Brownie.

00:14:55
Speaker 3: Back there, I'm gonna say Jasper Johnson the Kentucky and is gonna be the dude that we're He'll make one or two plays that will surprise.

00:15:02
Speaker 5: So we all we all pick kind of backcourt guys.

00:15:04
Speaker 3: I think it's got to be a backcourt guy against this team. If we're playing somebody else would be different. But this team is a team that you're gonna have to hit some shots.

00:15:10
Speaker 6: And so who would be maybe one of the big guys that maybe you'll be bragging about tonight.

00:15:15
Speaker 3: I think people moreno to me, is gonna be better than people think you a great answer.

00:15:20
Speaker 7: Yeah, he's close to being my pick before Colin Chandler. I think we're gonna be talking about him a lot.

00:15:24
Speaker 4: He shocked me.

00:15:26
Speaker 3: I've now seen them two or three times. He shocked me. He's a lot. I thought that kid wasn't gonna play this year, and he definitely is. And I didn't necessarily see that coming. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, Uh, the text machine is seven seven to two seven seven four five two five four.

00:15:41
Speaker 4: We are here at Don Franklin.

00:15:43
Speaker 3: Nissan Frontier Pro four X is on sale for thirty eight, two hundred and thirty seven dollars, and my man in the green shirt has not looked up yet. We will take a break and be ready back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio Work. Go back, It is Kentucky Sports Radio here Friday. Tonight, the pregame show begins at three point thirty. If you're coming to the game, come on to ks BAR before. Pregame show is at three thirty, so you got afternoon listening if if you're at your work today, game is at six, so that means my postgame show will be around nine to fifteen. And then tomorrow the game, the pregame show is again at three thirty, So if you're wondering what time things are this weekend, three thirty and three thirty because the football game is at seven thirty. Tonight we get Tom Hart and Jimmy Dykes, and then tomorrow Tom Hart, Cole Kuberlick, and Jordan Rodgers.

00:16:34
Speaker 7: I hope we have Tom back in our lives in basketball. I remember last year in the game they forced Carl Ravage on us. It seemed like every game. I even wrote a website post where I counted all the Carl Ravage games. Nothing against Carl, but we need a little more Tom this season than we got a year.

00:16:49
Speaker 2: I think they're on to Tom. They know what he's doing. He's dropping his KSR Easter egg.

00:16:52
Speaker 3: But why would you go against that? Like that's who's watching the game is us?

00:16:56
Speaker 2: I just like the confused look of Jimmy dark beause every time he drops a reference Jimmy's Lake.

00:17:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, we got a guess what are they today?

00:17:02
Speaker 5: He did? He did.

00:17:04
Speaker 3: Tom did write me and say last night he was in town. He's like, what are you doing tonight? And I said, you know, I'm watching football and he goes, are you sure? Are you at the freshman game with Ryan Limouth, which means he was listening last night.

00:17:17
Speaker 6: Which, by the way, that game ended on a hell Mary touchdown pass for Boyle County. I should have I should have gone exciting finish and I missed it.

00:17:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, you definitely should have fourth quarter and you need options. Twenty seven stores, over six thousand vehicles across the Bluegrass truck's SUVs and sedans only at Don Franklin Auto, They're ready when you are. We got a bunch of people on the phone. I want to get to it, but let's start with this.

00:17:40
Speaker 4: Uh.

00:17:41
Speaker 3: The name that we sort of introduced to the Kentucky world yesterday was Eric Come Monday, will be all right. I don't know how many of you in here knew his name before yesterday. One person, how many people on this show knew his name before yesterday one person. So the total amount of people at Dodd Franklin who knew him yesterday are two. Well, yesterday the text machine and my personal text number lit up with Eric Monday comments, and I would say ninety.

00:18:15
Speaker 4: Five percent of them.

00:18:17
Speaker 3: Postive people say to me, Matt, if Eric Monday is gonna be the next president, or if Eric Monday's gonna have anything to do with.

00:18:24
Speaker 4: Doing the next coach or whatever. Kentucky is very, very lucky.

00:18:28
Speaker 3: Really, a ton of nice comments about him, a ton of people saying, Matt, I don't think you all realize he's kind of been doing this for the last six months. Like there's a lot of sort of stuff that's kind of been transitioned to him, especially at the university, not necessarily the athletics.

00:18:47
Speaker 4: Department, but the university level.

00:18:49
Speaker 3: So you know, here's a random name that comes up yesterday, Ryan that I think, now we're gonna all need to get to know we may and we may have it may be Monday.

00:18:58
Speaker 4: For the next little bit.

00:19:00
Speaker 6: You know, you get to all these techs, some of you don't know if they are how much truth are into them. But they said he's also maybe in the running for the LSU president's job, So like, is he gonna Is he that high of a candidate to be maybe president at LSU or Kentucky.

00:19:12
Speaker 7: He came from LSU, I know that much. I don't know what his role was, but there's a connection.

00:19:16
Speaker 4: Well that maybe so.

00:19:17
Speaker 3: But you know a lot of times I've told you all a little bit about the guy that was doing our nil for the last two years, and I said.

00:19:27
Speaker 4: I don't think anyone knows him.

00:19:28
Speaker 3: Like if you went to a UK game, he'd be probably on the court and you wouldn't even realize how important he was. But I said, for the last two years, this has been the dude that has made a lot.

00:19:39
Speaker 4: Of stuff happen.

00:19:40
Speaker 3: He made Pope's first year roster happen in party, made Pope's second year roster happened. Now it's going to JMI, so it's a different point. It'll be different people now. But I was like, this guy is the guy, and you know, saying that most people didn't.

00:19:52
Speaker 4: Almost nobody who knows who he is.

00:19:56
Speaker 3: I do wonder if in the future it'll be like this with the guy we met yesterday.

00:19:59
Speaker 2: I never heard the guy until yesterday. But if you tell me that anybody gets ninety five percent approval rating, I mean on the text machine, well, I mean that's that's a good sample. Though, that's a lot of people. I mean you you can't get ninety five percent of people to agree on anything.

00:20:11
Speaker 3: None of the people on this show getting ninety five percent approval rating. That's true with the text machine. I can tell you that. So uh so a good sign. Who's up first, John, Sean, go ahead, John, John, all right, what's next?

00:20:32
Speaker 4: Andrew? Go ahead? Andrew.

00:20:35
Speaker 8: Hey, guys, thanks for taking the call last last year. I was curious with your thoughts. I was thing about this on drive and the number one team in the country goes into Arkansas for an exhibition game. Some more situation of this and they get drugged, and we figured out pretty quick that Kansas wasn't a true number one team in the country. So my question is what are we thinking? I mean, an outcome of that that ended up being the same outcome in the tournament for Kansas Arkansas About their ceilings, I'm curious what you all think we expect to learn tonight about the expected ceilings of both these teams.

00:21:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say I appreciate the call.

00:21:11
Speaker 3: I would say to you that I don't expect Purdue to be a disaster this year. They got too much returning. You know, last year the thing of Kansas. They were all transfers, young guys and Hunter Dickinson and that just did not work. This Purdue team has been good in some form for the last few years. Unlike a lot of other teams, they don't they keep a lot of their core guys and kind of go through. I'm expecting Purdue to be good, so unlike last year where Arkansas looked great in that game and then kind of didn't look good really until the tournament.

00:21:47
Speaker 4: I think drew.

00:21:47
Speaker 3: If we look good tonight, it's a good sign for us because I don't expect Purdue to be at all of us this year.

00:21:54
Speaker 7: No, Purdue's for real. If they weren't the unanimous number one, they were close. Brien Smith favorite to win Player of the Year. He's unanimous All American point guard. But then they have the Big Tens leading scorer next to him. He doesn't get talked about as much, but he could also be an All American candidate this year. And then, of course, because they're Purdue, they have two gigantic white dudes that like they always.

00:22:16
Speaker 4: What do you think they find those?

00:22:17
Speaker 7: One of them's from Israel. This year they got them out of the portal. But they have another homegrown when he's like seven five with a combover. It's the same player we've seen there for ten years.

00:22:24
Speaker 4: It is amazing.

00:22:25
Speaker 3: They grow gigantic white guys in a lab and they're always awkward, but then somehow end up really good and effective.

00:22:34
Speaker 4: And I don't know, I don't know how it happens.

00:22:36
Speaker 2: They just turn them out. It's like a factory.

00:22:38
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:22:38
Speaker 4: I think they well they're an engineering squad.

00:22:40
Speaker 2: I think they just them.

00:22:42
Speaker 3: I think they create them. That's right, just have an assembly line of those guys. And they've got more of this. And zach Enes in the NBA actually been doing pretty well.

00:22:51
Speaker 4: We'll take a break. Right back down franklinssid TJ.

00:22:54
Speaker 3: Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

00:22:57
Speaker 7: He'll make them pay.

00:22:58
Speaker 2: No more of Kentucky's Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:03
Speaker 4: Welcome back.

00:23:04
Speaker 3: It is Turgy Sports Radio. So what's the liam? I always wondering about people's mindset? What's the tie it up? With ribbons and bows.

00:23:12
Speaker 2: Thought, just a great song I was listening to this week.

00:23:17
Speaker 4: Okay, there we go, there you go. Why not good answer?

00:23:21
Speaker 3: Sitting there listening to tire hair with ribbons and bows. Sign her letters with x's and o's. That's what you could do. Hey, Ryan, you know that kitchen you hate? Yes, it's not gonna fix itself. A lot of people think I'll wait until January to start my read model, but by then the State Renovations is already booked. So sit down, get into a design agreement and make sure your project starts in January or February. Fix your kitchen like Ryan's hideous one or your bathrooms. Go to the state renos dot com.

00:23:47
Speaker 4: You're hit. Your kitchen's not that bad, is it? Oh?

00:23:49
Speaker 5: It's elegant, Yes, exquisite.

00:23:51
Speaker 3: Staterenos dot com slash ksr. Get it started today with a State Renovations A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine seventy seven to two seven seven.

00:24:03
Speaker 4: Four five two five four.

00:24:04
Speaker 3: Drew Moore came out about the NBA gambling schedules scandal. A lot of interesting facts. So there were three different people. Start with Terry Roseier. Uh, he basically just had a He played himself into a bad first half and then took himself out of the game. There's some clips of a game that he was in. He did look like in hindsight, it looked like what it looked like. I think you could It's pretty bad if you have a game where they could just put it on in front of the jury and go just look how he played and you would see it.

00:24:37
Speaker 7: I remember when that happened because Twitter went nuts, and I think the NBA investigated and kind of cleared him. I think the NBA is gonna have some answering to do on all this because.

00:24:45
Speaker 3: They've kind of I want to take up for the NBA on So they investigated it and they took his phone, but to be fair, they don't have subpoena power, so unlike the federal government where they could go interview people and question him, the NBA can't do do that. So, like unless Terry Roseier texted I AM going to do this, just them having his phone, I'm not sure what they could do.

00:25:09
Speaker 4: It's hard for It's.

00:25:10
Speaker 3: Hard because you can't the federal government can make people talk Shannon.

00:25:14
Speaker 4: The NBA can't really unless you're in the league.

00:25:17
Speaker 2: That mixtape that was very suspicious. I mean, you're an NBA player, you're airballing layups. I mean, you can miss without being so let's put his hands.

00:25:27
Speaker 4: On his hand.

00:25:30
Speaker 2: What happens turned the ball over.

00:25:34
Speaker 7: The next ten games with the injury that he emits was fake. That's why I'm like, well, why did you miss the next ten games? And makes me wonder if the NBA sent him out and called it an injury.

00:25:42
Speaker 3: Oh, I do think there's a possibility they're gonna have to explain why he missed ten games with an injury that we now know he completely faced.

00:25:48
Speaker 4: That's I think a fair question.

00:25:50
Speaker 6: So was the connection with him that d Narro last year? They went to high school together. Is that right in Cleveland?

00:25:54
Speaker 4: I think so. Then Damon Jones is an assistant coach.

00:25:59
Speaker 3: Apparently his thing is he gets word Lebron's gonna be out for a game as an assistant coach and then tells somebody and he says, allegedly, Shannon, don't forget to keep your boy d like basically saying, hey, if you use this cut me in.

00:26:18
Speaker 4: You better give me a cut. It doesn't look good for.

00:26:20
Speaker 2: Him, No, it doesn't at all. And you know, the NBA has got to be hating this. With the timing of the NBA scene, he's out started started scandal.

00:26:30
Speaker 4: The games have been so good.

00:26:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and this is overshadowing all of that right now.

00:26:34
Speaker 3: Obviously you have to say, if the thing's in the indictment are true, but if they are, Drew d Jones going, hey, make sure to keep your man d involved, Like that doesn't look good.

00:26:44
Speaker 7: I've enjoyed all the clips that are circulating in the last couple of years where people had questions and now it's like, well, now we really need an investigation.

00:26:51
Speaker 9: Hey.

00:26:51
Speaker 7: Gilbert Arena's on his podcast a year ago, tells a story of Lebron covering a prop bet and Arena says, my gambling group, it's me Damon Jones and Lebron James. Like he says that on a podcast, Oh he did. And he even plays a clip where Lebron talks to him at the free throw line and it's word for word. He's like, you know who's covering this? Damon Jones checks in and Lebron passes it to him.

00:27:10
Speaker 4: So it's like all the stuff that we just saw Lebron would be a whole nother level.

00:27:16
Speaker 7: But we're getting stuff recirculating that's making a little more sense.

00:27:19
Speaker 3: And along those lines, Chauncey Billups. So, Chauncey Billups is involved in all sides of it. So let's start with the basketball side. There's in the indictment it says cold Conspirator number eight is a basketball player that fay through these years.

00:27:38
Speaker 4: And is a coach now in Oregon.

00:27:39
Speaker 3: Well, there's only one NBA team in organ so I think it's pretty clear that that's about Chauncey Billups too, in alleges that in a game he decided to send his whole team out and tank the game, and he called a guy before the game and said, by the way, I think I'm sitting my whole team.

00:27:59
Speaker 4: And then the guy makes a big bet.

00:28:01
Speaker 5: That stinks like duck poop.

00:28:03
Speaker 3: That's like Pete Rose. That's a whole nother thing. And then the poker game stuff is the wildest part of all of it. It's said that they would bring rich idiots to poker game. Now, by the way, if you're gonna fraud somebody fraud and rich idiots, I'm fine with all right.

00:28:21
Speaker 4: But bring them to poker games to cheat them. The way they cheated Drew was unbelievable.

00:28:28
Speaker 3: They would wear contacts that could see, could could see.

00:28:35
Speaker 2: Like I don't know what you would call it, march cars.

00:28:39
Speaker 4: They would wear contact.

00:28:40
Speaker 3: Chauncey Bilbps and the guys would wear contacts so that they all worked together to make these people lose and they ended up taking them for a ton of money. Chauncey was there as basically the come play poker with Chauncey Billups and then all these other dudes stole them essentially won the money in a fraudulent game.

00:28:58
Speaker 7: Yeah, they used him to make it should have like having a celebrity at the table. But even had a nickname in there. Slipping my mind, but it's he's gonna have he's gonna have a hard time acting like he didn't want a part of it.

00:29:08
Speaker 4: By the way, take a chance. I meant to write it down.

00:29:12
Speaker 3: The nicknames of the mobsters involved in this are amazing. It's like Greasy Eye, Armenian, Bob Ernie, turn like Lefty, like everyone involved.

00:29:23
Speaker 4: It's almost like, if you're gonna be involved in illegal schemes, you have to have some kind of crazy nickname.

00:29:28
Speaker 5: What about the Rick Patino connection to all three of those guys? He coached all of them coach.

00:29:34
Speaker 4: Boston Louisville. Hang on, are you implicating Rick?

00:29:37
Speaker 5: No, look into it to this topic of conversation.

00:29:41
Speaker 4: What's what's your topic?

00:29:43
Speaker 5: Who is terror Ziers coaching at the college?

00:29:46
Speaker 4: Okay, Rick Patino?

00:29:47
Speaker 5: Who drafted Chauncey Billups out of Colorado to play for the Celtics. Rick Patino, who damn Jim Brown Jones played for I mean, I'm.

00:29:54
Speaker 7: Guessing Rick Patire all these mafia people based Boston just maybe throwing not at all.

00:30:01
Speaker 5: Just you know, he came on our show.

00:30:04
Speaker 2: That's the last time the friend of the program.

00:30:07
Speaker 4: Maybe he's innocent.

00:30:08
Speaker 7: It's just worth having a conversation.

00:30:10
Speaker 4: Okay, all right. Just for the record, Rick, I've said enough over the years about you. I'm not putting you in this scandal either. It is just that is Ryan Lemon and Drew Franklin. Uh, please contact their attorneys. I have nothing to do with it. Who's up next? Slim? Slim? Go ahead, Slim.

00:30:34
Speaker 5: Slim?

00:30:37
Speaker 4: All right, all right, Slim? Okay, who's next? Isaiah Isaiah?

00:30:41
Speaker 5: Go ahead?

00:30:42
Speaker 4: Isaiah? Hello, Yeah, anytime you're ready go ahead?

00:30:52
Speaker 9: All right, Hey, I got two points here. I think us losing Jaalen Lowe is gonna be okay. I think we actually have a few guards that can can fill that position. And also, as far as Mark Stoops goes, I think even if you want wins against Tennessee and Louisville, I still feel like we need to move on just his stats and everything. With all that, I just don't think he can do it for us in this era of college football. And I'll hang up and listen to your thoughts.

00:31:22
Speaker 4: Appreciate it.

00:31:23
Speaker 3: Let's say, Ryan, you beat Tennessee, you beat Louisville, you go five and seven, but you beat your two biggest rivals in the process. Play text is really well, let's say you're even competitive in the other games.

00:31:39
Speaker 4: What do you do then?

00:31:40
Speaker 6: I know a lot of people disagree with me, but if that's the scenario, I'm still riding with Stoops. I just think I don't know if we get any anybody better than him at that point, And if they able to play out five wins out of this season what we've gone through, that's a pretty good coaching job.

00:31:52
Speaker 7: There's one thing to watch if he gets hot and wins a bunch of games. Is he still might use that as an opportunity because that it might make him attractive to a Virginia Tech or something. He's still might see the riding on the wall and that could you know he could coach his way into a job.

00:32:04
Speaker 3: If that's probably, let's assume shit and he can't get to six wins in a ball His best case scenario is probably beating Tennessee and Louisville, being competitive in the other.

00:32:15
Speaker 4: Games, and being five and seven.

00:32:17
Speaker 5: I don't think.

00:32:18
Speaker 4: I don't know if Mitch Martinhart could fire him in that name.

00:32:20
Speaker 2: No, I don't think it can.

00:32:21
Speaker 4: I'm not sure if he could.

00:32:22
Speaker 3: I whether he should or not, Fine and thirty eight million dollars after that would be a harder.

00:32:28
Speaker 2: Tennessee and Louisville. Those two games are the two games left on the schedule that mean the most to this fan base. When you beat those teams and you're competitive in the other ones, that I think you hang on to him at least for another year and see what happens next season.

00:32:38
Speaker 7: If they beat Tennessee. I mean, I'm not gonna get crazy and get ready for a Bowl game. But Auburn and Florida look a lot more winnable. Auburn might not have a coach, Florida already doesn't have a coach. Those locker rooms could be falling apart. So if you beat a rank Tennessee team, he might be favored against Florida.

00:32:54
Speaker 3: And then there's also the possibility that we get run this weekend and this gets re bad on Sunday.

00:33:02
Speaker 5: That is quite possible. That's the scenario.

00:33:05
Speaker 3: I mean that I do think that's I mean, I want you to think about the possibility of let's say we lose by thirty, then what's it like on Sunday and Monday fan base will be screaming, that's a whole nother comp Monday show after we watched them play the number one basketball team, And then whatever happens Saturday, that'll be interesting.

00:33:25
Speaker 7: If you beat Purdue by ten and lose to Tennessee by thirty, what's like?

00:33:28
Speaker 3: I think people are gonna still lead with the football, to be honest, really, I mean, I think I just think that we've reached that point where people are just like, all right, I want to hear something. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine seven seven two four five two five four. We are here at Don Franklin Kentucky's biggest playbook, six thousand new and certified pre owned choices and a team that treat you like family. It's Don Franklin Auto. We appreciate them having us out. We'll take a break and be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:33:59
Speaker 4: Welcome bout.

00:33:59
Speaker 3: It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Aye by nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four one verse right Tim Matt and says Matt yesterday, Louisville fans online and on the radio, we're going after you for getting your facts wrong about their football team.

00:34:18
Speaker 4: You said Jeff Bromin never won ten games. He did win ten games. Uh.

00:34:22
Speaker 3: Does it make you mad that they that they get that they make fun of you online for the things you say?

00:34:28
Speaker 4: Not at all.

00:34:29
Speaker 3: They're listening. That's good. Uh so it counts as one of our listens. When's the last time any Kentucky fan corrected.

00:34:38
Speaker 4: A Louisville A Louisville radio host. We don't listen to them.

00:34:42
Speaker 3: I don't know that anyone knows that they exist. It was good to see the sheriff is still out there. Drew policing fan behavior for the University of Louisville u of L Sheriff online going stop.

00:34:55
Speaker 4: He he was one of the ones that took a shot. But I enjoy it.

00:34:58
Speaker 3: I'm glad to see louivill fans have a pulse again and that they are trying to rival.

00:35:03
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:35:03
Speaker 7: I don't engage with the sheriff. I love what he does up back to Blue. I like what he does for a community. I know he very pro law enforcement when he talks about us a lot. I've never engaged, never planning to engage. I also noticed a lot of Louisville fans we're making fun of our rosters. Say we're talking about final fours, we might not win a tournament game, and I'm like, have you all even won a tournament game in like eight years?

00:35:25
Speaker 5: What do we do?

00:35:26
Speaker 3: It's the thing I don't I don't you know. You'll hear me say this about us sometimes. Ryan, I'll say, you know, like we'll talk about how great our roster is and I'll be like, but remember these other schools don't know who these people are. Like we talk about like Braydon Hawthorne, like everybody knows. Nobody on any other team knows Braidon Hawthorne. Litle fans are the worst about this. They'll look at the Kentucky roster and go, who's the good player? I mean, Jay and Quainton's could be a top five pick. You know, O take O ways preseason All American jaywen Lowe's very very good.

00:35:57
Speaker 4: I already wants say, but they'll say.

00:35:59
Speaker 3: Who are And then I look at their roster and I don't know any of their players, Like I don't know any of them. They've got one guy, Michael Brown, the freshman who could be very very good. They got one or two guys that returned that were pretty good last year. The guy that got hurt during the NCAA tournament, I see, I think he's back. So like they've got a good team, but they act like we know their seventh eighth. I've never heard of any of these guys. It's it's like it's unbelievable.

00:36:25
Speaker 4: And they have not won a tournament game since Truman And there comes a point where like, you guys.

00:36:30
Speaker 5: Should take a step back.

00:36:32
Speaker 4: I love it.

00:36:32
Speaker 6: I'm glad it's back, man. I want this back and forth with Louisville man, and not just good for our show. I just enjoyed as a fan, just kind of going after somebody.

00:36:39
Speaker 3: But they about last year they played in Lexington, they played Creighton in Lexington. They had a packed house and they lost and at one point were down big I think, and then and then came back and made.

00:36:49
Speaker 4: It close at the end.

00:36:50
Speaker 7: That and a couple of weeks ago, Pat Kelsey said, their point guard you, and I thought it was one year ago when our point guard did not miss a shot from the field and set the records points scored.

00:36:59
Speaker 4: In that series.

00:37:00
Speaker 7: And your point guard you, how does that happen?

00:37:02
Speaker 4: I like that?

00:37:03
Speaker 3: I think Pat Kelsey, it's good that he did. You like that he gave out the glasses, Shannon. He took his little uh trademark Christmas story glasses and then they they gave him out to donors and it said Louisville Kelsey's glasses.

00:37:19
Speaker 4: Did you like that?

00:37:20
Speaker 2: I mean it was completely dorky, but you know what, you might as well embrace who you are and they'll just remember who was out asking fans to come watch their games. It wasn't Mark Pope last year. It was Pat Kelsey.

00:37:31
Speaker 4: And I'm fine with that.

00:37:32
Speaker 3: By the way, I think Kelsey has done exactly what he's supposed to do. But I don't understand why these guys, why they act like that. There's some sort of amazing power, but they do, and they listen to this show, and I thank them for that run.

00:37:47
Speaker 6: I am not a fan of the Louisville fan base, but I am a fan of coach Kelsey, and I like what he did with these glass I think that's kind of a cool little thing. He's a short, little nerdy guy like me.

00:37:55
Speaker 2: So yeah, do it, man, Yeah, yeah, you could do that here at remote Ryan Lennon glasses to everybody.

00:38:02
Speaker 4: So here.

00:38:03
Speaker 3: By the way, there's some big exhibition games tonight. Louisville hosts Kansas. That's a pretty good one.

00:38:08
Speaker 2: Great one.

00:38:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a pretty good one.

00:38:10
Speaker 3: North Carolina against BYU, Villanova plays Virginia obviously, we play Purdue, Cincinnati plays Arkansas, Wisconsin and Oklahoma sol a lot of this is kind of a good way, Drew to see kind of what's what's what in college basketball?

00:38:25
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:38:25
Speaker 7: No, all the teams you just name that are playing tonight other than our own game. I'm oddly excited to see BYU with stud freshman. They have players back. I mean they're ranked ahead of Kentucky.

00:38:36
Speaker 4: Yeah in the NIL era.

00:38:38
Speaker 7: That's a team to watch because they just have dumb money out there. They're football teams in the top fifteen right now. I think they're gonna continue to be a big part of the college basketball conversation.

00:38:47
Speaker 4: Totally totally agree with you on that. Who's up next?

00:38:50
Speaker 2: Steven?

00:38:51
Speaker 4: Steven? Go ahead?

00:38:54
Speaker 10: First time?

00:38:55
Speaker 2: Long time?

00:38:57
Speaker 4: Who a go ahead?

00:39:00
Speaker 3: Sorry, we're unremote, just so you know, and there's an echo if we're not careful. So we're going to turn our MIC's down when you talk.

00:39:06
Speaker 4: So when I go to you, just go but go ahead, gotcha?

00:39:11
Speaker 10: So acting like low isn't hurt. We've got everybody healthy. Who is Matt Jones' starter and backup for each position?

00:39:25
Speaker 4: All right?

00:39:25
Speaker 3: Well, okay, so the back court I think is fairly easy. I mean, the back court is going to be low and oh way. I think Aberdeen and Jasper will sort of fight it out over the year to be the normal two are seeing the normal backup point guard, although they both can play at other positions. I think Colin Chandler is kind of your backup too, although he could also then play the three. The three can go a myriad of different ways. It can be any of those people I just mentioned. It could be Cam Williams, it could be Trenton Noah, it could be all kinds things, depending on how they end up deciding to do it. I think your five start in the season is Brandon Garrison with moreno behind him, but that could change over the course of the year. I think your four UH is Diabate to start. Probably Cam Williams is his backup.

00:40:18
Speaker 8: UH.

00:40:18
Speaker 4: I don't know where Yellovich fits into that.

00:40:21
Speaker 3: I think initially he's kind of behind those guys, but we'll see. He could play his way into it. Trent Noah will float between the three and the four depending on what makes sense. But that's my I think you're gonna see between the two and the three a lot of flexibility, and then between the three and the four Drew a lot of flexibility. I think this team is can go multiple ways. They can play really small, they could play really big if they want with Jasper Johnson at point guard.

00:40:47
Speaker 4: So there's there's a lot of different ways for them to do it.

00:40:50
Speaker 7: Yeah, when they're fully healthy and low starting, I think we're gonna see oh way at the three. I have pretty good scoop on that. Who would be the two? Because of media Day. I said, oh, wah, are you a three? And he said yes, So I feel like he's probably gonna get the three. So that said that to me directly.

00:41:02
Speaker 3: Two.

00:41:03
Speaker 7: Yeah, the Aberdeen Chandler thing. You know, I'm high on Chandler, but you have the championship experience with Aberdeen at that two. If Oway really is starting to three, I mean I flip a coin in my brain at that spot. But you know, I I literally asked Oway, you see yourself more as a two or three. He's like, they're gonna have me at the three, So I'm gonna trust him on that one.

00:41:21
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:41:21
Speaker 3: So if always at the three, then that means you kind of start to get crowded at the four and five you start to it starts to I. No, that means Noah probably pushes to the four and it becomes a lot more crowded position up there.

00:41:33
Speaker 6: That's why I know it's an exhibition game and we want to win. But I think Pope will try a lot of combinations tonight. He still gets closer to the end of the game. I think he'll try to play a lot of people different combinations and see what actually is gonna work.

00:41:44
Speaker 7: Ohwa, it might be the two tonight with Noah as the three with the roster situation.

00:41:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say to you, Ohway and Low are playing thirty plus minutes a game, and then everybody else.

00:41:56
Speaker 4: It's kind of in flux based on what's going.

00:41:58
Speaker 3: I'd be surprised though, if Low and Away aren't a thirty plus minute guy or twenty eight plus whatever.

00:42:03
Speaker 4: We'll take a break, come back. I re number two. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
