00:00:00 Speaker 1: Welcome everyone. It is the local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show Cats with a huge win over the Gators thirty eight to seven in Kroger Field in a dominating performance by Mark Stoops and his group. Eight five, nine, two eighth twenty two eighty seven. We'll take your calls. There were a lot of different ways this postgame show could have gone over the last two weeks, and I don't think it could go much better. Last week they win at Auburn, and Auburn team that took Vandy down to the last play on the road today also played Georgia very good, Oklahoma good, Kentucky has a win on the road with him, got Hugh Freeze fired, and then a Florida team that just last week played Georgia very very well thirty eight to seven. I mean, it's it's a dominating win, and I do think you know where everyone is going to want to talk about putting it in the greater picture of kind of the future of the program. But we should take a second to just celebrate how big this win is. Let's start with the fact that we had lost eleven straight SEC home games. We had lost thirteen straight Power five home games, and we've won. That streak is now over. A streak that had gone way way too long and I think was really frustrating fans. It's now ended and ended in a way that's pretty awesome. It is kind of odd that when it comes to SEC home games in the last I guess five seasons or whatever, we're like three and twenty against everyone else, and we're three and zero against Florida, which hard believe. Who would have ever imagined that, like when I was a kid, that we would have as many wins against Florida in Lexington in the last five years as we do against all the other teams in the SEC combined. I mean, that's crazy, but we do. And it's gotten to the point that we kind of own him in Lexington. Another thing that's crazy. So you have to take that. Then, I think there are two stats that are also extremely important and to process. This is the biggest win over Florida since nineteen fifty, Since nineteen fifty, this is the biggest win over Florida. That was the year we won the national championship, So nineteen fifty. I mean, you're looking at seventy five years since Kentucky has beaten Florida by this margin. There's a good chance that I and possibly Billy will be in the internal resting place before we beat Florida by this much. 00:02:47 Speaker 2: Ever again, yeah, so, I. 00:02:51 Speaker 1: Mean you got to take a second to really appreciate that because this game was never close. As a matter of fact, I think you could make a strong argument that we were very, very close to two shutouts in the SEC. Both Auburn and Florida essentially only scored because of mistakes on special teams by Kentucky. That's the only reason they scored any point. They had seven, and it was only because of Macklin's muff punt, that's it. Otherwise, did not get in the end zone, created four turnovers, and were excellent. And then finally, this is the largest margin of an SEC win since nineteen ninety eight, all right, twenty seven years since we've beaten any SEC team by this margin, and you have to go back to nineteen seventy eight since we've beaten a team not named Vandy by this margin. So you have to really appreciate how big a victory this was. And it was close, and Kentucky dominated every phase of the game. I'm very happy for everyone involved the players, Mark Stoops, the coaching staff. You know, on the one obviously there's been a ton of criticism of Stoops in the coaching staff this year, so they've had to deal with that. But then you throw in kind of the last two days, the thing that happened with Calzada, and you know, they've just had to deal with a lot of stuff, and they they go over it, they get through it, and they win by a lot, and so you've got to applaud that, and you've got to feel good for those guys. They came into a two game stretch against Auburn and Florida where I think you could make a strong argument that they knew they had to win them both to have any shot of salvaging the season and maybe even salvaging the career at Kentucky of Mark Stoops. And they went and they won them both, and they won the second one by an overwhelming march. So I don't know how you can't be happy about that. A few things that stick out to me about the game. First of all, Cutter Bowlie. You know, he played a little last year, so we don't think of it, but technically he's a freshman. He's got three more years of eligibility after this year, and he just keeps getting better every game. You do wonder maybe would it have been any different if we'd started him from moment one. I don't know, but he's excellent. And you know, we've gotten calls over the course of the year that sort of said, you know, Matt, do you I mean, is is what Cutter wants? Does he play a role in the future? And if you were going to hire a new coach, would they need to be someone Cutter likes? And I'd always have been like, eh, I love Cutter, but no, you know, now I'm starting to think the answer to that question is yes, if he keeps playing like this. I mean this is he's playing really well. And he's not only playing really well. He loves Kentucky, He's from Lexington. You know, he has a chance to kind of go in that group of you know, our most beloved quarterbacks at this school have tended that have ties here, right, Tim Couch, Andre Woodson, Jared Lorenzen, those guys, I'm not gonna say those were. Couch the best quarterback ever here, Lorenzen, Woodson great, But we've had other ones, you know, including Will Levis, etc. But there's something about the guys from Kentucky and I think Cutter can be on the path to being in that group. And so you can't help but get excited. Makes good decisions, makes good throws. Had an error there at the end of the first half, but you know what, I will get over it because I think the rest of the game he was great and I'm really excited about his future. Second, I'm really excited about a lot of young players future, in part because some of the guys they got in the portal did not pan out, in part because of injuries. But there's a lot of young guys out there playing on defense, especially, but on offense too. At receiver, there's a lot of really young guys playing, like really young, who are balling and who have potentially really good futures here. You know, in the in il are obviously everybody can leave, but you know, we really haven't lost a lot of guys to go into better schools. I mean, how many guys has Kentucky lost that they really wanted to stay. I mean, you know, Dane, but there aren't a lot and I think a lot of these dudes that are coming up. This is gonna be a really, really good group of players. And I don't know what the future holds for all these guys, but you can't help but be a little bit excited about them. Third, you know, people talk about Mark Stoop's resurgence, but like, what about Bush Hampden. I mean, you want to talk about a guy that everyone had fired, including probably his family. 00:07:56 Speaker 3: In his bag tonight you would say, I mean. 00:07:59 Speaker 1: I thought he was great. I thought he was really good in the Texas and Tennessee games. It got hurt by the play calls there in that final thing. You know, part of me wonders if some of these, like you got to run it up the middle on every play is a Mark Stoops thing. But he was in his bag today. I mean he completely had Florida on its heels, and I you know, Mark Stoop's future is still to be determined. I think i'd kind of said, well, there's no way Bush Hampton will be back, But you know, I mean he's not been bad these last few weeks, and you do wonder to what extent. You know, this goes back to something we talked about when you consider Liam Cohen's in the NFL and Shannon Dawson's at Miami and Neil Brown, and you kind of wonder, you know, maybe if Mark would just let these people do their thing and not get like a watered down version, because I thought the Bush Hampton tonight looked like a guy you could get excited about, which brings us like to the overall picture. You know, we are now officially assuming we don't lose to Tennessee Tech. And I know they're ten to zero, but I'm still gonna assume we don't lose to them. Obviously, if we lose to them, different situation, but let's just assume we win. We've now gone past the he has a record that certainly gets him fired. As a matter of fact, I would say, absent a loss to Tennessee Tech, the Mark Stoops is definitely getting fired at the end of the year. Is now to my end of my opinion, off the table. So now there are two scenarios left. One scenario is you beat either Vandy or Louisville, and Vandy barely won today and Louisville lost at home to Cow, which is hilarious. That's now two years in a row. Billy, they thought they were going to playoff and they lost to a nerdy school that shouldn't even be in the ACC and two years in a row they've lost to them, and it makes me laugh. But you those games, you know we're not gonna be favored in either one of them, but we got a shot in both of them. If you were to win one of those and you get to a bowl, then if he wants to, Mark Stoops will be the coach here next year. So if they be, it is now on the table. Then if they be vander Louisville, you will be Mark Stoops will be the coach here in twenty twenty six if he wants to. Which I keep throwing that in because I do think that's a component of it. But now the other senate that scenario one. Scenario two is the five and seven purgatory scenario, which is now firmly in play, which is the they're better. There's improvement, there's not as much improvement as people want. There's frustration, and you have a thirty seven million dollars bio and a lot of fans still want a replacement. But like there's an argument to keep. That is not a great scenario for Kentucky. But those are now the two scenarios left the Mark Stoops is definitely getting fired, and we all agree. I kind of think that's off the table now, Billy, do you agree with that? Yeah? 00:11:20 Speaker 3: Yeah, it feels like sentiment's changed, don't you think. 00:11:23 Speaker 1: Well, I don't. I mean, I think there's still fans that feel that way. I'm sure there are those listening right now that still feel that way. But as far as a realistic what is going to happen, I think that scenario is off the table now. The scenario is either he wins another game and he's definitely back, or we stay where we are and there's this really uncomfortable what do we do? And who knows what happens. But you have to give the staff credit, and you got to give Mark credit for getting him to a point where that can be the case, because that was obviously not going to be the case even you know, two weeks ago, and you win this game, not only winning it but winning by how much they want it by. I do think that's that's a big deal for his his his future. So great win. I heard the atmosphere was awesome. I loved watching it. Tom Hart was in his bag with references including Ryan getting thrown through the table cash app Sorry Motonoka. Did a Garrett Get Your Money reference? I felt like this was an all ov W. I feel like this was an all time Billy tom Hart and KSR reference game. Biggins in there too. 00:12:42 Speaker 3: Did you see Bowley doing the money celebration with CALC? 00:12:45 Speaker 1: What do you think about that? I loved it. 00:12:47 Speaker 3: I mean the kicker did it too. Everybody was doing the money celebrating. 00:12:50 Speaker 1: I love it well. But then clearly he was being punished because he didn't get brought in. 00:12:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, Bo cay Man. 00:12:57 Speaker 1: So I don't know. They can't be that much at him though, if he if you know what I mean, if they're still doing the celebration, then it can't be like it can't be that mad at him. 00:13:07 Speaker 3: Sounds like they brought the team closer together. 00:13:09 Speaker 1: Maybe well maybe it is. Maybe oddly the Garrett gets Your Money right? Could be I mean, that may be a quote that is legendary with this, I mean, really that makes you know? That may be one that sticks around for a while. We'll see. I don't know. A five nine, two eight, twenty two eighty seven. We will take your calls. Remember good weekend. We've won one now we've won our second one well be one basketball when football, big volleyball game tomorrow, women's basketball game tomorrow. So a chance for the UH four and oh weekend is still on the table with the games tomorrow nine two, twenty two eighty seven. We will take your calls, take a break, be right back. It's a Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. Welcome back. It is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. U not a lot of huge upsets in college football. Louisville probably is the biggest upset. Losing to UH to Cal makes me so happy. Shouldn't that shouldn't be that petty billy, But I just the thought of them getting in the playoff and always annoys me because I don't think they're good enough to be in the playoff, you know what I mean. If they were like like when Lamar was there that one year, if they had made the playoff, they wouldn't have bothered me because they were like really good. But like, it bothers me when I think they just don't play anybody, and then they could make the playoff, and so it's good when they lose. You know, they lost two years ago to Stanford or and then now this year to col I enjoy that, don't you. Yeah? 00:14:37 Speaker 3: No, the ACC sucks, so they were trying to back their way in there. 00:14:40 Speaker 1: Have you seen the standings in the ACC. 00:14:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like Virginia is like. 00:14:45 Speaker 1: Virginia, Georgia Tech s MU and uh there's another random team are all tied with one loss. Bill Belichick, by the way, has two straight victories, so he's ready. Bill Belichick's back. Also, I hope you may have seen during halftime I watched the end of Arkansas basketball Michigan State. 00:15:05 Speaker 4: Oh. 00:15:05 Speaker 1: I saw that cows some great end of game scenarios again where they take thirty five foot heaves and don't run a play. 00:15:12 Speaker 3: And the player that whipped that fan with the towel too. 00:15:16 Speaker 1: Yeah, that wasn't intentional, though. I don't think he hit him intentionally. I don't know. I don't know. 00:15:20 Speaker 3: I didn't It wasn't the best angle, but. 00:15:23 Speaker 1: I don't think he hit him intentionally. I did think it was funny though he hit him and then seemed to get mad that the guy took his towel. Did you notice that. 00:15:30 Speaker 3: Or you think the fan deserves the towel after taking them? 00:15:32 Speaker 1: Yeah, if I get hit in the face by you with the towel, I don't have to give you the towel back. 00:15:38 Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I get it. 00:15:39 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:15:40 Speaker 1: So you haven't seen the video this. Arkansas players like stretching as there were, like he's like frustrating. He's got the towel above his head and he's pulling it like he's angry, and then one of his hands it slips off and he smacks them. 00:15:52 Speaker 3: He really smacks him in the face like it. 00:15:55 Speaker 1: But you don't you think he did it on purpose. 00:15:56 Speaker 3: No, I'm not sure that. 00:15:58 Speaker 1: I don't think he did it on purpose. But the point is he hits the guy in the face. So the guy, understandably he reaches up to grab it because he got hit in the face, and he grabs it and he just pulls it away from me, and then the Arkansas players like, give me back my towel, and I'd be like, dude, you hit me in the face with it. You know you're lucky. All I do is take your towel. 00:16:14 Speaker 3: Not a great shot at the end of that game. 00:16:16 Speaker 1: It wasn't not the way to walk off the court. Who's up first? 00:16:18 Speaker 3: Cole is up? 00:16:19 Speaker 1: Cole go ahead? 00:16:20 Speaker 6: Cole, how's going, Matt? 00:16:23 Speaker 7: You know what? 00:16:24 Speaker 6: You know, what I can't understand about. You know, I'm twenty three, and what I can't understand about a lot of the kids my age is they don't they don't remember a lot of the dark Stoops years I had, you know, growing up and being in you know, being growing up and going to the games and all I remember. 00:16:48 Speaker 1: You say, you say dark, you mean dark pre Stoops years or like Stoops his first couple of. 00:16:53 Speaker 6: Years, Oh, pre Stoops Like yeah, gotcha, yeah, because you know, I don't remember. I don't remember, you know, before that. But you know, my whole life, you know, when Mark Zeus came to town, it was all you know, you know, ten games twice. I just wish that people my age group would understand and appreciate what Mark Jeus has done for this, for this program. 00:17:22 Speaker 1: It is definitely the case. I mean, it is definitely the case that the biggest Stoops critics or haters are young, right, and they're disproportionately on social media. So because they're disparate, it can feel like, especially if you're on Twitter or TikTok, it can feel like the fan base just is all against him because I think not because I think all the fan base is against him, but I think that his critics are disproportionately young. And part of it is, I think what you're saying. Part of it is, I just think young culture is just more likely to be critical, especially online anonymous accounts, et cetera. But I it is fascinating to me the age divide because your age group was the most pro Cow age group, but it's also the most anti Stoops age group, which is just an odd dichotomy. 00:18:17 Speaker 6: Well, I'm the opposite of that. 00:18:19 Speaker 8: I am. 00:18:20 Speaker 6: I was kind of anti cow. I didn't I don't, ye know, I just didn't agree with cals coaching philosophy, which was, you know, it was basically cal you and then. 00:18:34 Speaker 9: You know, I never So you would say, let me just put it like this, if you went five and seven, would you if we lost to both Bandy and Louisville, would you still want him to be back? 00:18:45 Speaker 6: No? I wouldn't. 00:18:47 Speaker 1: Okay, if we go six and six, what if he goes six and six. 00:18:53 Speaker 6: If we go six and six and be Louisville, I'm in, I'm way out. 00:18:57 Speaker 1: You go, here you go. And I appreciate the call. I think that's I think that now, Billy, is the mainstream perspective, would you agree with that? Yeah? With the I think the mainstream perspective is, see, well, but Vandy's better than Louisville, don't you think. Yeah, so if you beat Vandy, that's a more impressive win than beating Louisville. 00:19:17 Speaker 3: Yeah, but it means more to people Louisville, doesn't it. 00:19:20 Speaker 1: Listen, if we beat either of those teams, folks were going to a bowl. 00:19:25 Speaker 3: And you can't fire them. 00:19:27 Speaker 1: I mean, who would have thought that we were going to a bowl? Even like after the South Carolina game, right, no one would have thought that. I mean, most people thought we were gonna win three games, and there were some people that thought we'd lose to Tennessee Tech, you know, And and the way if you end up in a bowl game, you know, I know, bowl games aren't what they weren't once were, but it's still still you're still there. It still matters to some extent that would be kind of be unbelievable. 00:20:01 Speaker 2: Who's next, Cam, Cam, Go ahead, cam. 00:20:05 Speaker 7: What's up boys? How we doing? It's been a while? Him Man. First, I gotta give a shout out to bush Man. I ragged on him tough throughout the first part of the season on Twitter, asks what I'm gonna call it? Uh cash board? Anybody who would hear me? I was giving it to him, man. But I also said two weeks ago, I said, if we're gonna give him to him, we're gonna give him pack, then we gotta give him his flowers to man, he has I don't know if Stoop's got desperate or what, but he has allowed Bush to open the playbook. And Bush is probably all in place for his career too. If he you're with the Yeah with a foolish season, he probably would be going down to U E KU or something to coach. 00:20:50 Speaker 1: Well, that's a great point, Like I mean, if you're Bush Ham, then you get fired from this job. I don't know where you're an offensive coordinator next year. I mean maybe you can get met. Maybe you're at a Mountain West conference, but maybe not. I don't know. You know, so I ect so you're right. I think he is calling for not just his Kentucky job, but probably for his coordinator job period. You know, he better have to go back to being a quarterback coach. So I'm with you. He's been a lot more. He's been a lot more aggressive and exciting, and I think it's been fun to watch it. 00:21:27 Speaker 7: Has has he got a little He got beside himself right there before halftime calling that. 00:21:32 Speaker 1: But see I was okay with that. Well okay, yeah, I mean all right, So two things. One, I don't you're right, maybe you don't call a draw right there. I think part of why they're doing that is there was still like, what one forty or something left on the clock, right, so they're probably trying to get Yeah, they're probably trying to take some time off the clock, to be honest with you. But like the the we turn it over there, part of that I put on Cutter. Cutter can't fumble that ball, right, that's not right. I mean, I don't think Bush is gonna think he's gonna fumble it, So. 00:22:07 Speaker 7: Get to one of your two running back hosses. 00:22:09 Speaker 1: Right, maybe maybe, But Cutter's Cutter was pretty good at that play in the first half. He had two or three good runs on that. What I liked is when we got the ball back after that, I love that they went and through it. In the old days, they would have run it twice and kicked the field goal. They went for a touchdown. I know it ended up with an interception, but you're up twenty four to seven and you're out there trying to score again. I actually really loved that mentality, and I was glad he did it. 00:22:36 Speaker 7: I loved it too. I loved it too. Garrett Calesada and Garrett, both of them are dumb. Hopefully that's old news by Monday, and we're definitely running it back with stoops if we go to a bowl game. I don't love it, but I mean he would have earned it, with the way he's turned the season. 00:22:52 Speaker 1: Rue he would have earned it. I agree with that. I appreciate the call, and I think a lot of people can have the opinion, and I would understand it. Of we kind of just need to change, we need a refresh, and I'm not saying you're wrong about that, but I also think he probably would have earned it if they were able to, uh, you know, if they if they were able to get to a bowl game. 00:23:12 Speaker 2: Who's next, Thomas. 00:23:13 Speaker 1: Thomas, go ahead, Thomas. 00:23:16 Speaker 10: Okay, let me talking to this ad d evening here. Kolsk Or sixty six and lost by three Patinos or Downey sixty and lost bus seven and Stukes two years he was phenomenal to the other ten. It's like the most bipolar football seasons I have ever seen. 00:23:33 Speaker 1: They are bipolar. You're right, yeah, they are. They are bipolar. But but but you know, this one's a little different, I think, to be honest with you, than bipolar. I think we have actually had just an upward trajectory, you know what I mean, Like I think we have. There are years where we played great one game, terrible the next game. This year, I actually think we were much worse than we thought we would be at the start of the season, but we have steadily improved quite a bit at a pretty consistent rate. Wouldn't you agree with that? 00:24:07 Speaker 10: Oh yeah, this is the recipe. But I think in three years ago, when we're gonna be able a statue and then lost four in a row, it's just blows my brain. 00:24:15 Speaker 1: But that's four years ago. I mean, no, you're right, that's four years ago. But this year, I'm just talking about this year. While I'm not gonna say this year is successful unless they win one more game, but I will say they have consistently gotten better as the year has gone. 00:24:32 Speaker 10: On, And that might be a cutter Bowley thing too. I think it is one thing Tom Hart. Tom Hart, I just got to mention this before the halftime when he talked about throwing right on the table and then Jordans says, oh my god, Tom, you're getting Violet Wwe was not really Ohio Valley. 00:24:52 Speaker 11: That was great, classic. 00:24:54 Speaker 1: That was great because he probably I think he played the first part, but the second part was riffing. So you I gotta give him a big shout out to him for doing that. I appreciate the call. He didn't know this, Billy, but our British owners, you know, I sold half the company to some British guys. They they were here, they were at the game. So if it's their first time they'd ever been to American college football, or as they call it, American university football, Billy, I love that. And they were texting me throughout the game going, this is the most awesome thing in the world. And I said, I'll tell you something even more awesome. We got mentioned on the broadcast. 00:25:33 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a perfect game for them to attend. 00:25:35 Speaker 1: They've never been to American as they put at university sports, guess which two they're getting to go to? This one and then they're going to Kentucky Louisville Tuesday. 00:25:43 Speaker 3: Oh that'll be a great environment for them to see. 00:25:45 Speaker 1: I mean, think about that. If you're gonna go to two games you've never been, that's a two pretty good games to end up getting to go to. H So, who's next? 00:25:53 Speaker 2: Tim? 00:25:53 Speaker 1: Tim? Go ahead? Tim? 00:25:57 Speaker 8: What's up? 00:25:57 Speaker 7: Matt Jones? 00:25:58 Speaker 12: How y'all doing tonight? 00:25:59 Speaker 1: Doing good? 00:26:01 Speaker 7: Doing good? 00:26:01 Speaker 12: All right? 00:26:02 Speaker 7: Man? 00:26:02 Speaker 13: I just wanted to call in my me and I was watching this game with my sister Harper tonight and we were just so jacked up. But then and we're so excited, and I love all of the people that are calling in, but the one thing I wanted to talk about tonight was couver Bowie, Like, this is the most excited I've ever been. And this is before tonight's game. And this is why I said, like, I don't I noticed it his first start. I Mean, the dude just has something different and he the team plays so much harder for him, and it's just a parent and it's. 00:26:39 Speaker 5: Just so exciting. 00:26:41 Speaker 13: I genuinely think this team is the most exciting team going forward, because if it was like basketball, where you had to play in a tournament at the other season, nobody would want to play us right now. And that's the best way I could put it. And all I want to say is I just wish more callers would call in and let's talk about the how good this team could be with this great quarterback that's a Kentucky kid. 00:27:05 Speaker 1: Right, and a lot of young guys and guys around him. Well, you're not gonna be able to forget about it. But there's but but again to be fair too, in the in the in the I agree with you, and I totally agree with you about Cutter and there's a lot of young talent around him. The problem is in the transfer portal era, you always know, like you never know who's gonna be here afterwards. But but yes, I agree, and that your point about you wouldn't want to play them, you're right about that. That's a good I appreciate the call. That's a good analogy. We talked about that all the time in basketball. But in football, you wouldn't want to draw us right now. If you were a good team, you'd be like, well, those guys, I mean we got we could not stop Tennessee's offense. So if you take a side trying to stop Tennessee's offense, We've played like three really good game. I mean offense, We've had four really good games. I know, we only scored ten at Auburn, but I still think offensive day played well. But we played well offensively against Texas. We played well offensively against Tennessee, played off well offensively tonight. We did not play well defensively against Tennessee. But that's really been the only side of the ball that's been disappointing is in four games defensively against Tennessee. And that's really it. 00:28:23 Speaker 2: Who's next, Anthony, Anthony? 00:28:25 Speaker 8: Go ahead to Anthony, Yes, sir, first time, long time there? Who So three quick things. First off, Louisville sucks both tonight and on Tuesday. Also, secondly, uh confirmed from purple lot Dominique Dabell Dante said said he's coming back next year. Fucking confirm that. 00:28:54 Speaker 1: That's confirmed from what lot lot? From the purple lot? All right, you heard that, Billy, Purple lot confirmed. 00:29:01 Speaker 2: I write that down, yep. 00:29:04 Speaker 4: Third thing, soa bean, that's what we call bush. If we finished six and six, seven and five, is there any way that he doesn't come back as our OC next year? 00:29:19 Speaker 1: I mean, if they finished six and six and seven and five and the offense looks as good as it did these last few weeks, then I'm gonna suggest he comes back. To be honest, and I had him fired fired a couple of weeks ago. Okay, I mean, I I appreciate the call. I was going to take the view. Okay, there's a world I could see bringing Stoops back, but you can't bring him back. But if their offense continues to look like this, yes, I think you would. If you decide to bring Stoops back and we go seven and five or even six and six and the offense looks good every game, then Billy, I think you have to, don't you. I mean, what else do you want? At that point, he will think about how much better this offense would have gotten during the season. As it seems like also maybe stoopis is letting him call what he. 00:30:07 Speaker 3: Wants right, And it makes you think, what if they started Cutter at the beginning? 00:30:12 Speaker 1: And there's also some of that would be a cutter like question for me, Probably a lot of it would be like what is Cutter? Think it's kinda really like this guy because if he does, you know, I mean, how many offensive coordinators were gonna run through this school, you know, so a lot of it to me would be what this cutter think? And you know, I don't I don't know the answer to that question. Let's take a break a f I'm nine twenty two eighty seven Cats with a huge win, best SEC win since nineteen ninety eight. This is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. It is a Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. Folks are writing on a text machine. Let me read a few of them. One person writes, Matt Louisville, Twitter's turning on for Jeff love to see it. Yeah, they are very upset, although I think they finished last year. What they finished last year, nine and three, Billy ten and two sounds right. I mean, they've got a good chance if they were to beat us, they'd finished, you know, maybe ten and two this year. They do need to, like, you know, but you're you're not that big a star program. But I think what gets them is they lose to these teams that aren't very good. 00:31:26 Speaker 3: You know, acc stinks. 00:31:29 Speaker 1: But last year they won a lot of games they had no business winning. Now they're losing close ones this year, but they they had a lot of games they should have lost last year that they ended up ended up winning. If I'm nine, two, eight, twenty two eighty seven one person rights, Matt. I know everyone's talking about what if we went out, what if we win one of vand U of L? What if we win them both? Well, I mean then then that's one of the great turnarounds of all time. I mean you if they were to finish seven and five, that's one of the great Kentucky football turnarounds of all time. Because there's nobody, there's no fan who would have thought seven and five would have been not really good with this schedule this year. So so yeah, I mean, you couldn't do anything but but praising, and you'd actually go to uh you know, I mean we probably ended up playing Iowa in the Music City bo. Yeah, if we go to the Bow, I'm going wherever it is because I would and didn't think we were gonna go. But let's just not play Iowa. Just promise me we will not play Iowa. 00:32:31 Speaker 2: Who's next, Jason. 00:32:33 Speaker 1: Jason, go ahead, Jason, Matt. 00:32:37 Speaker 9: I'm sitting here tonight. I had three TVs going tonight. On one, it was snowing at Notre. 00:32:42 Speaker 8: Dame, which was awesome. 00:32:45 Speaker 9: The other one I had cow running the worst baseline out of bounds play with three seconds club yes, and it just brought back memories. And we beat the crud out of Florida tonight and it was a glorious Four weeks ago, I would have already been in bed and I'm calling you tonight, are you? 00:33:07 Speaker 1: Sugg would not have listened to the postgame show four weeks ago? 00:33:10 Speaker 9: No, No, I wouldn't have. I probably would have listened to half of it on podcast. But but here going forward, Stoops, if and you make a great point, we don't know if he If he chooses to leads, then more power to him and great and it might be best. 00:33:28 Speaker 11: For both both parties. 00:33:29 Speaker 9: But if he stays, he will have recruited two quarterbacks next year. If they both stay, that the other SEC schools want correct and there's something to build off of us, and that's something that he has not had in a long time. 00:33:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean in terms of like a high level In terms of a high level quarterback, we've had one in the Stoops there. Like I love Terry Wilson and I love even Johnson, and I think those two dudes in some ways are kind of the epitome of what Mark Stoops likes as a player, but they were not like hot levelbacks. He's really had war breath, and that was will and this is I think there's a very good chance this is the second one. And you're right, he just hasn't had that. 00:34:18 Speaker 9: Very much, no, and and it's one of those things. So I am just very happy that this team has aid, not quit. The coaching staff, as you just said, has continued to get better and developed, and this team is on an upward, you know, trajectory. And you know, I'm fifty one years old, so I've seen the good, I've seen the bad. I've always said if I saw Mark Mark Stoops in public, I give him a hug and just tell him thank you for giving me a lot of great nights. 00:34:53 Speaker 1: And well, one of the things I'm gad glad about for him. One of the things I'm glad about for him is even if they were to lose these last two games and finish five and seven, and even if a change occurs, I think by winning these last couple of games, the feeling upon partying would be a lot better than it would have been otherwise does that make sense? So make sense? And I think there's that guy, and I appreciate the call and thank you for staying up. That guy has done a lot for this program, and you're not gonna get slander for me on his time here because I think it's been remarkable, especially when you consider what Kentucky football was when he got here. Now, I think it's a different world now where teams like Kentucky can have success whereas they used to not be able to. But I want, whatever happens for there to be a time I want to I want him to have like a Tubby Smith esque role in Kentucky football history, which Tubby Smith can come here anytime and wherever he is, he's going to get a standing ovation. You know, Rick now is getting closer to that, But it wasn't like that for a long time. Cal's not like that now. Maybe it'll be like it one day, but Tubby's kind of had that for a long time. I want Mark to have that, and I think these two wins actually go a long way to that happening. Who's next, Kyle, Kyle, Go ahead, Kyle, go kats. 00:36:26 Speaker 11: Just like Jason said, I had dual screens going on in the Kyle Cave. Tonight, UK was on the big screen and I was watching Warren Zvon and getting inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 00:36:36 Speaker 1: Oh really, that's kind of cool. Who performed? Who performed? 00:36:40 Speaker 11: Great Man? First, David Letterman came out and did the induction speech for Warren, and it was great. He had the guitar that Warren gave to him on his last appearance on The Late Show. But Killers came out and did lawyers, guns and money. 00:36:54 Speaker 1: It was just hard. I got to hear that. 00:36:56 Speaker 11: But oh yeah, it's it's already out there somewhere, but now I got a couple of quick hits here. The Stoop swagger is back, and if you know what I mean, he does that dad Bob walk up and down the sidelines, got the game in hand and it's beautiful. And I've loved Stoops since day one, and I'm just so happy to see what he's doing. And if he makes it another year, great, As Cutter's there next year, fantastic. If he moves on, I'll be fine with that too. But we've got to keep Cutter and just keep this ball rolling. We have a chance to beat U of L. And speaking of the U of L, I wonder to have Vincent Studen waiting in line of that Moby Dick drive through on Dixie Highway. Good night boys, he'd all the call. 00:37:43 Speaker 1: That was a good call. See it was meant to be. We beat Florida. Ryan goes through the table just like he did in twenty twenty one, and Lawyer's Guns and Money. Warren Zevon gets in Ductor the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the man who gave me the theme song to this show. You don't seem as moved by that coincidence. 00:38:06 Speaker 3: Now that he's a great coincidence, great coincidence. 00:38:10 Speaker 1: Sounds like he's sorry. I'm tired. 00:38:12 Speaker 3: Jerry is up next. 00:38:13 Speaker 1: Jerry, go ahead, Jerry. 00:38:16 Speaker 11: Hey, Matt. 00:38:18 Speaker 5: First off, I think unless they embarrassed themselves against Tennessee, Tech stoops coming back next year. So these anybody that was on the fire shoes, spandwagon can just jump off. They're gonna bring him back unless, like I said, they embarrass themselves next week. But we'll see what happens the last two games. I mean, the thing you got to keep in mind about these last two teams who play, they're probably the worst two teams in the SEC in Florida. I know they played well against Georgia before that game. There's a lost storie. 00:38:45 Speaker 1: They're not the worst team. They're not the worst two teams. I mean, they're not Arkansas's worst, Mississippi State's worse. Well, Misssippi State, we'll see now. 00:38:54 Speaker 14: Now, I wouldn't say that, well, you wouldn't say that. 00:38:56 Speaker 1: They got absolutely demolished today. And I think they've already lost to Auburn this year. So you know, I'm just. 00:39:04 Speaker 5: Saying, well, I'm just saying I'm just saying that, you know, uh, all right, we'll see what happens last two weeks. I mean, you know, the two teams are playing last two weeks are significantly better than these two teams. But but you know, but like I said, I don't. 00:39:19 Speaker 1: See, Jerry. I just I don't mean to be argumentative, but when you say they're significantly better, Auburn lost on the last play of the game today at Vandy. So I don't like. I don't like. I don't I don't like when I don't care you think it was better to have a coach that wasn't the coach. I don't like when we dismiss our wins. Okay, Auburn when they had when they had Hugh Freeze played should have beaaten. Oklahoma kind of got the game taken from them, played Georgia down to the last play. At some point, when we get good wins, we've got to stop having the mentality that when we win a game, the other team stunk. Sometimes we were good. Okay, sometimes we were good. And I know Florida is not great. You can't have it both ways, Jerry. You can't say, well, we beat Auburn had a different coach and they were better. Florida had a different coach, and now you're gonna say, well, they didn't have their coach, they had a new one. We won, and we beat Florida by the best margins. We beat Florida by the best margin since nineteen fifty and we beat an all We beat an Auburn team that every other game they've played in the SEC, they've either won or it's come down to the last play. We should be happy about. 00:40:41 Speaker 5: Before the season started, what were the two games that you thought they had the best chance to. 00:40:45 Speaker 1: Win Florida, South Carolina or to the South. I thought, actually it was South Carolina in Florida. 00:40:53 Speaker 5: Yes, okay, but I'm just saying I'm not trying to dismiss the win. 00:40:57 Speaker 1: I appreciate it. Caul Jerry, you are so negative. I mean that this is a good night. You are so negative. And I know you you said having Mark stops back, but the idea that you would like. I don't know why we can't ever enjoy something rather than just go. I mean, the Auburn thing is a perfect example. I know Auburn's not great, but Auburn. We beat Auburn better than I think anyone else has so far this year. In the SEC, there might have been they might have one game where they lost by more, but I think they beat Arkansas, Vandy, Georgia, and uh Oklahoma came down the last play, and they may have. They may have one more game that I'm not thinking of. But I just wish. I'm so tired of every time we beat a team. Well they're not any good, Let's enjoy it. Who's next, Charlie, Charlie, go ahead, Charlie, hey man, how are you good? What's up. 00:42:00 Speaker 14: With Cutter's heart? 00:42:02 Speaker 12: And Lexington? The way dann IOI is rut? Now do you think we can keep him next year. 00:42:07 Speaker 1: Yes, I think if he wants to be here, from an nil perspective, he'll have as much money here as he would have anywhere. The only thing, you know, the only thing I think, when it comes to guys like him, kind of your face of the program, Kentucky can do whatever they new need to do to keep him. Now, what where, I'm not sure that's true, is like your twelfth best player. But I think when it comes to the top player, we can have as much as anybody. So if Cutter wants to be in Lexington, he will be in Lexington. 00:42:43 Speaker 12: I like that answer. 00:42:44 Speaker 14: We just got to get us some receivers in and build around him. 00:42:49 Speaker 1: Well, even if we just keep the ones we have, we've got some good ones. Well, we lose a lot of our line. Yeah, we lose a lot of our line. A lot of our line are seniors. But but the but the receivers are young, a bunch of them. 00:43:03 Speaker 12: Yeah, we just if we keep our line, if we can get us a good line, I think we're gonna be good. 00:43:08 Speaker 15: And SOUPS has been good for us. People can complaining and complain, but SOUPS is SUPs to build a program. 00:43:15 Speaker 16: Right, I mean he's gonna have a day on your ear and that. 00:43:18 Speaker 1: Yeah, I appreciate the call, but we've had we had a to be fair, we had a really bad dawn here last year, but so far this is uh, this is better. Who's next? Nick? Nick? Go ahead? And Nick, Hey, how's it going good? 00:43:34 Speaker 8: Yeah? 00:43:34 Speaker 17: The last collar kind of stole my thunder. I was just curious about, uh, you know, cutters U n I l agreements and things like that, Like, you know, he's young, and I'm sure there's other schools looking at him as we're proud of him. 00:43:53 Speaker 7: Yeah, we just said, well. 00:43:54 Speaker 1: You just have to I mean I would have to know his now, I would have to know his mind. Right. So, okay, there are kids out there who come to Kentucky who would rather be at Alabama but don't get the offer. Right, those kids exist, and so if Alabama offers, you have to say, like, kids like that may go. I don't think that's Cutter Bowley. Cutter Bowley, first of all, he had offers. I don't remember who offered him out of high school, but there were programs better than ours that offered him. But he's from Lexington. He grew up a Kentucky fan. He wanted to be in Lexington. Do I think that that kid is going to all of a sudden with three years of eligibility just say I'm going to go to Georgia. I don't actually now if he were just here said go ahead. 00:44:42 Speaker 17: Oh sorry, Like he just said, he's a Kentucky boy, he's having success. You know, I agree with you. Like like I said, the last caller pretty much did it. 00:44:54 Speaker 1: And if now I appreciate the call. Now if he was if he had played here for three years hatt and really had team success and it was going to be his senior year and a Georgia wanted him, then maybe I could see it. That's kind of what happened with Dane Key a little bit, right, Like he was from here, wanted to be here, hadn't really had success. I don't know that Nebraska is a significantly better program, but maybe it is a little bit. And he thought I want to play one year like that. I understand that. But you know, Cutter's got three years, so I just I would be shocked if he's not playing here next year. Let's take a break A five, nine, two, eight, oh twenty two eighty seven. We will do our final SEGMENTU did Nebraska win? Did? Uh? 00:45:42 Speaker 12: He did? 00:45:44 Speaker 1: All right, We will take a break and be right back. This is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame Show. Welcome back. It is the Local Toy Dealers KSR Postgame Show. Uh eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven. One person, right, it's Matt or what you're saying about Cutter Bowley? Does that mean you think we could keep all the players on the roster. No, we cannot keep all the players on the roster. I think the difference between a top program in ours is I think now any power five team in the country can keep if they want their top couple guys. So and you see this in basketball too. By the way, Kentucky like tried to get like Donovan did, and UCLA was able to bid the same or more like. I think every team can keep their top guy. The question is can you keep guys you know, three through thirty? And I question whether Kentucky will be able to do that long term, like get, can we keep guys ten thirty? But I think the top guys can tell if they want to the issue for the top guys in being at Kentucky will not be money. It will be do they want to play for a national championship or not? And you know some guys will, but some guys won't because they maybe are from here. So that's why Cutter will be back next year. I think without question, I do wonder, you know, well, I can't think of a person, but is there a receiver or something? You know there might be like cam Miller or somebody like that. Maybe a school that's like Alabama wants that kid, and can you pay that kid? I don't know the answer to that. That's that's where I think you separate the top ones from us. Is at that level. Who's next? 00:47:56 Speaker 2: Tanner? 00:47:57 Speaker 1: Tanner? Go ahead, Tanner? 00:48:00 Speaker 18: Hey, Matt, First of all, I want to thank you for being on so late. You've almost taken me all the way back to Bowling Green that. 00:48:09 Speaker 1: Glad to do it well. 00:48:11 Speaker 18: I wanted to call in and share a centiment. So in twenty eighteen, me and three of my college buddies we decided that we would make the stupid trip down to Gainesville and watching football game, most as a formality. But Kentucky end up winning that game, as you might know, And at the end of that game, I said to myself, I'm grateful that Mark Stoops is my coach. And then in twenty twenty one, Florida came to Kentucky and a lot of people thought Kentucky was gonna lose that game. 00:48:47 Speaker 11: Kentucky and up. 00:48:48 Speaker 18: Winning that game too, and at the end of that game. 00:48:50 Speaker 15: I said, I was geotful that Mark Stoops was my coach. 00:48:53 Speaker 19: Then the very next year, we went back into Gainesville looking to do something that we've never done in my life when too in or over Florida. We won that game too, and I was grateful that Mark Stewkes was my head coach. And then the top of All Off two in twenty three, I was sitting next to my brand new baby boy and my beautiful wife watching the game of the Hospital and Kentucky demolish that Florida Gators team. Thankful to Ray Davis, and I was grateful that Mark SEUs is my head coach. Tonight, Matt I was in the stands and I hadn't said this much this year, but I was grateful that Mark Soups was my head coach. And I think we can all share that sentiment, very poetic go. 00:49:36 Speaker 1: Through the history there. I like it. I appreciate the call. That is, you know, he gives some good context there. Kentucky's now won four or five billy against Florida. 00:49:48 Speaker 2: That's crazy. 00:49:49 Speaker 3: We got to put Ryan through a table every time they played Florida four or five. 00:49:54 Speaker 1: I mean, you know that would have been unthinkable, unthinkable when I was a kid. That's amazing. Let's do four more. Who's next? Ford? Ford? Go ahead, Ford. 00:50:12 Speaker 14: I got a solution for Jerry. 00:50:14 Speaker 15: He needs to count him. 00:50:15 Speaker 1: Some money, Matt, Yes, he does, all right, all right. 00:50:20 Speaker 20: I called him last week and gave Aiden Laross his flowers for his awesome game. Well, this week he didn't have to get off the bench. The offense this week was awesome. And I said that last week that the season. 00:50:32 Speaker 15: Wasn't over till the Fat Lady sings and you might have been warming up the vocal courts. Well we done killed her. 00:50:37 Speaker 20: I see it is on like Donkey Kong, Matt. 00:50:44 Speaker 1: I wonder when the last Kentucky game sec where we haven't punted is. 00:50:52 Speaker 15: I don't know, but considering how much it means to Mark Stops to have a have a have a good punter and playfield position, I'm gonna bet that it's been a long time. 00:51:02 Speaker 1: It'd be interesting. I appreciate the call maybe the Mummy era because he didn't like to punt. I don't know. I bet it. I bet it happened. I bet it hadn't happened much. I mean, I'm not gonna say never, but I bet there have been less than five SEC games even historically, because back then they punted a lot more, even historically where we haven't punted not many. Three more. 00:51:39 Speaker 2: Who's next, Chad, Chad? 00:51:41 Speaker 1: Go ahead, Chad. 00:51:43 Speaker 14: Hey, Matt, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this game night. I thought Kentucky played a complete game, and it made me very happy to see the lists on their faces and all that. And I think one of the toughest things for people to do is be happy for other people. Yeah, I'm really happy for those guys. You should be also, they should be. And the other point you made with Jerry is this whole argument about, well, they weren't that good. You know, we shouldn't we should have beat they, weren't they They said that, they said that about Kentucky for seventy five years. They're not that good. It's not that big deal. But you know, what somebody wins and somebody loses. 00:52:30 Speaker 1: Tonight, we won, I mean, and I feel like every time we do that, you you're setting a standard that we you just you're you're defining the result by you're defining the definition by the result. Well, if we beat them, yes, then they not must not be good. So you make it to where we can't win. I mean, I'm not saying Florida and Auburn are great. I don't think either one of them is. But Florida beat Texas. Florida played Georgia just last week down to the final couple minutes. Auburn lost three SEC games on the final play against three teams, all of which are still in the playoff contention. We beat them both, and we were better, and we were better in both games. Can we not at least take a little credit for it and not just go well they stink. Yeah. 00:53:35 Speaker 14: Well. And the last thing I want to say is that for all the haters and all the people that call in and you know they give you grief, thanks for what you do. They couldn't do what you do. And you bring a lot of joy to Kentucky fans and connect the fans with the team and I really appreciate it, and. 00:53:56 Speaker 1: That's very nice of you. I appreciate it. Let's do two more. Who's next, Mike, Mike, go ahead, Mike, Mike, Yeah? Is this on me? I mean, if you're Mike, Yes, Yeah, I'm Mike. All right. 00:54:16 Speaker 12: So a couple of things, one being I still recall the first press conference that Mark Soups did and I had chilled through my body. The second thing being, with everything going on in the way that he's been, does he still want to be here? 00:54:38 Speaker 8: You know, I don't know. 00:54:40 Speaker 1: I don't know the answer to that question. I think that's a better question than people realize. I think. I think there's a lot that goes into that for Mark, including you know, his family is not here, like his kids. I think also, you know, he we we've talked about this before his eyes. I understand it. His father died coaching around his age at a young age, and he's always Bob's Stoops retired young. I think that all those Stoops guys kind of have that in their mind. I have not talked to Mark about it in a few years, but I remember him saying in like twenty twenty one or twenty twenty two something like that I'm not coaching forever and I don't know how many years. Like so, I think that is an important question. And I don't think it's because he's like, I don't mind. You know, the criticism bothers him, Billy. You can hear it in his interviews, you know, like even tonight. You know, he like he anticipates the criticism before he said, before he talks, which I appreciate because it means he cares what people say, what people think. I also want to say to him, hey, man, you don't have to worry about like he was talking about. I'm sure people out there didn't want us to go for it, you know what I mean. He said that tonight. You heard him. Yeah, Like, sometimes I think he's so worried about that that he kind of gets caught up in it. But there is a world where it's not out of anger, just out of a maybe this is better for everybody if we leave it here that I could see that. The problem is people don't walk away from thirty seven million dollars. I mean, some people do because they have a bajillion dollars. But I don't know if Mark is gonna do that. I just don't know, but I don't think it's crazy to ask does he will he still want to do it, and I don't know. Probably only he knows one more. Who's next? Terry, Terry, go ahead. 00:56:47 Speaker 16: Terry hey man. Yeah, sorry to get to talk to try to come up with it. 00:56:51 Speaker 1: Good to see you tonight, Thank you for coming that by. 00:56:55 Speaker 16: Yeah, it's been a long day, but a great day. I have felt good about the game all day long. Uh, and a man, it's easy to say when when you win like that, but to just what to your point about people like giving Kentucky Credley, they're not good. Let's let's put this in perspective. The last two weeks should have been shutouts. 00:57:18 Speaker 8: Both of them. 00:57:19 Speaker 16: I mean because because Auber doesn't score, if if if Cutter doesn't throw that pick, and Florida doesn't score, if Macon doesn't much that punt. 00:57:29 Speaker 8: So there. 00:57:33 Speaker 16: What other team shuts out SEC teams back to back. I mean that that's very impressive. 00:57:40 Speaker 1: Uh. 00:57:41 Speaker 16: The offensive line tonight when I was up in the two hundred levels and you could just see it, it's just blowing up whole after hole for those running backs and and protecting Cutter. It was just Uh, just a total domination. 00:57:56 Speaker 11: Uh. 00:57:56 Speaker 16: And I thought maybe after Florida played Georgia so so close last week, if we got up on them, they might quit. And I think that happened a little bit time air broke. 00:58:10 Speaker 1: I don't think it happened though until. 00:58:14 Speaker 16: The first second. 00:58:17 Speaker 1: No, I think they were kind of I think they kind of probably quit that when they got their their turnover in the last two minutes. You know, they got two turnovers in the last two minutes, they had two interceptions. I didn't really see him having a ton of spirit in the second half. I mean, we got the ball first in the second half and then went and scored, So I think they were probably done after those two turnovers in the two minute trial. But I mean part of the reason they quit though, is we if we were up twenty four to seven, and we shouldn't like skip over that we got up to a point where then. 00:58:52 Speaker 16: They quit and then we get the second half kickoff and take eight minutes off the clock and seat drive. 00:58:58 Speaker 1: That was And to his credit, because I've been very critical over the years of stoops in the last two minutes of the first half, in the first four minutes of the second half, they owned that tonight, even though they had the turnovers in the last two minutes. The last two minutes were we won seven to nothing and we did you know, half of the drive that was a touchdown to start the second half. So that's always been a weakness for him, and it was really good tonight. 00:59:28 Speaker 16: And the last thing, and I know this is the sixty three year old, get off my lawn Terry talking right here, but I was I was so glad to see bo Allen get to play because that Zach cals outa video just turned me off so badly. And I'm glad Stup's put bo Allen. And I think that cent a message to kick. 00:59:50 Speaker 1: I'm sure it did. I mean, that was clearly intentional. And I still think Terry, if we had a game where Cutter got and you need to go win, they would probably play Calzada. But I don't think there's any doubt that they did that tonight for the reason you're talking about. 01:00:11 Speaker 16: All Right, thanks guys, appreciate. 01:00:13 Speaker 1: It, Appreciate it, great night, good calls, a lot of fun. Let's talk scheduling for a minute. Tomorrow my Spen shows at ten. If you an't want to get up with me. The volleyball team plays at five? Is that right, Billy?
