You have leather pants or no, you were and something like that, or I might bust out my leather pants. We'll have to find out. But at this end of the day where this is gonna happen a lot more breaking news with Dan Bayer, Breaking news from Fox Sports. 00:03:09 Speaker 3: I think you guys should have a contest on what Jersey New Raiders Jersey Danny G is gonna wear on maybe you know, like in some way, shape or form, because it could be Mendoza right, yes, it could be Tyler Linderbaum, who we found out signed earlier today. It now could be former Packers linebacker kway Walker whoa. It could be former Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean, both signing with the Raiders the minutes, So two linebackers in the span of sixty seconds going to Las Vegas. 00:03:46 Speaker 1: Danny G. Your team is going to compete. 00:03:48 Speaker 4: Huh yeah, spy Tech is really getting after it today. 00:03:52 Speaker 1: Wow, man, what yours are you getting? Man? 00:03:55 Speaker 2: Bo Jackson, Hey, keep it safe. That's big news man. Thank you dB for the update. Let that sink in. We'll think about it, and before we talk more baseball, I want to say rest in peace. Tommy de Carlo, Boston's lead singer, passed away at the age of sixty. Their original lead singer was Brad Delp, but Tommy DeCarlo has been with them forever, right, Danny G. 00:04:18 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they stopped touring I think in twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, but he did a good solid ten years on the road with. 00:04:24 Speaker 2: Maybe we'll play some Boston throughout the day and we got to talk a little baseball. I mentioned the game tonight. I think this is going to be a really telling game, a really great game. I think it's a three headed monster. I do believe that the World Baseball Classic is between the USA, Japan, and the dr In fact, they're the only three teams that have ever won it. 00:04:47 Speaker 1: Right, this is the six to one. Japan has won three times. 00:04:50 Speaker 2: I'm wrong by saying they're all undefeated in the tournament so far though, it's like the pre limbs and all that. But you can't sleep on Mexico, who's had USA. He's number in this tournament since the begin They even eliminated USA. Mexico also undefeated in Pool B. USA and Mexico in the same pool. So it's a big game. Is that the one the re repeding, Yes, it's the one. Well, I'll tell you why I'm a little torn because normally I'd be rooting for Let's go Mexico, but not when they're playing in USA. Dude, I gotta keep it real, and I love this squad. I'm rooting for Aaron Judge and I really like this cast of characters. But what I really love sometimes is reading the feedback and realizing that a lot of times, especially the people we talk to, are on the same trained track of consciousness and thought that we are as Cavino and Rich as a show. And you know, I can't help but watch these games and notice the obvious, like, Wow, the energy levels different, Wow, the excitement is different. 00:05:48 Speaker 1: Wow. 00:05:48 Speaker 2: When you're playing for your country and in front of your country, and you're playing for that country on your jersey, man, the pride is next level. And I feel like everybody's also noticing that. And what it's really saying to everybody is why can't American baseball be as fun as as what these Latin players are bringing when they're all together. When you see Wan Soto hit a bomb, you see these Dominican dudes go nuts. When you see Alejandro Kirk hit a bomb, these Mexican dudes go nuts. 00:06:17 Speaker 1: They're busting out somebreros going crazy. When you see Austin Wells, you know, I hit a home run for the dry of the night, they're going nuts. You're like, why is this only limited to World Baseball classway tatsis junior with a grand Seloni. 00:06:31 Speaker 2: Yes, seriously, dude, it's it's next level excitement. 00:06:35 Speaker 1: But you know what it is. I'll tell you what it is. 00:06:36 Speaker 2: It's somewhere along the way, and along the way is a long long time ago because baseball America's pastime. Somewhere along the way, we stuck with these unspoken rules in an old guy sport baseball. You don't show up a pitcher, you don't celebrate you. You certainly don't disrespect on anyone celebrating is cannsidered a show boat, a little show buddy, a little show body. And because of that, when there were a few players along the way that were like. 00:07:11 Speaker 1: A Ricky Henderson, yeah, I would say he's one of one of the OG's. 00:07:15 Speaker 2: When he came to flashy, he had to back it up by being one of the best. 00:07:18 Speaker 1: Ever. 00:07:19 Speaker 2: I think that a lot of times those guys were quieted. They were told like, yeah, that's not the that's not the big league way. I remember when Bryce Harper came in wearing all his face paint. 00:07:29 Speaker 1: It was like, all right, slow down that Bryce Harper. Latino players are reminding the world right now that baseball is, always was and should be fun. 00:07:39 Speaker 2: It's baseball, dude. Do you remember when Ken Grify Junior were a backwards hat. We made it seem like, uh, like he was a wild and crazy guy. Don't you wearing a backwards hat. It's not that serious. I get it, winning serious, I get it. But you know, when you're making big plays, like do. 00:07:54 Speaker 1: You see these circus plays Manny Machado's making in the infield. It's insane. It is worthy of when high five and the fans. 00:08:03 Speaker 2: That are there when you hit a home run in the World Baseball Classic and you're from a Latin American country. 00:08:09 Speaker 1: Yeah, these guys are. 00:08:11 Speaker 2: Doing elaborate backflips, spins around, they're stopping in between the bases, hyping up the crowd like they're I'm seeing a lot of funny videos on social media portraying this too, Like the difference between regular season MLB American baseball, right, and the difference when all these guys are together on one team, Team Puerto Rico, Team dr Team Cuba, you know, Team Mexico. They're going next level crazy. Like I said, it is World Cup vibes in baseball. When you think of the NFL, every time a guy sacks a quarterback, he's got some type of dance. 00:08:46 Speaker 1: Or he's shoveling or his signature, a signature move. 00:08:50 Speaker 2: When a guy scores a touchdown, they have orchestrated dances. On a turnover, the whole defense goes to the end zone and performs the dance they practice during the week. 00:08:59 Speaker 1: You know what, it proves. It proves that. 00:09:02 Speaker 2: Within the confines of MLB, these guys tone it down. And it's like, yo, yeah, if you have to play at their level and at their max and what you're paying them to do, you got to let these dudes have fun and do what they do, embrace what they do. This proof of all this so again NFL first downs, quarterback sacks, quarterback, touchdown passes, turnovers, there's a dance and a gesture for everything. In the NBA, you hit a three pointer, Steph Curry is doing his little fall sleep thing. Guys are letting it up, keeping the keeping the arm up. 00:09:37 Speaker 1: There there is dunks where people are hanging and gesturing. Every sport embraces this type of behavior except for base except for baseball. 00:09:49 Speaker 2: And that's their one fall. We've been saying baseball's poping, and it is. It's our favorite sport where huge MLB fans let these guys. And I'm not saying anyone's not letting them. It's just the culture that has been established. And as a Yankees fan, they're the biggest culprits. They're the most boring sort of well, we don't do that unless we win the World Series. Yo, it's fun and give the fans something to cheer about. You see these people going wild. They're going wild for baseball. It makes you we don't see that. It makes you say because of the one sixty two, you know, you know, it's like it's like a. 00:10:25 Speaker 1: Tournament or no, is it their their countryman? I think it's Latin players. 00:10:29 Speaker 2: It's the freedom, it's the freedom of not fitting in the MLB box. My example would be, you know, when you're in a relationship where you feel like you can't really be yourself, Yeah, and like. 00:10:42 Speaker 1: Because you're not embraced it like goofyness, like. 00:10:44 Speaker 2: You almost have to, like you almost have to pretend to be a version of yourself that you're really not around the girl, the girl you're dating. And then if you meet your wife and this is the right one, you're like, oh my god, I could be myself. 00:10:53 Speaker 1: I could make my dumb, dirty jokes. 00:10:55 Speaker 2: I could I could say stupid stuff, and I could be a clown. 00:10:58 Speaker 1: And like, she loves me for me, for me? Who's that that blessed unia souls? I don't listen to that corny stuff. She loves me for me. 00:11:06 Speaker 2: You know who's the greatest example of this for real? I mean we see it team by team, we see the difference, we see the energy, we see the crowd and the excitement. But your boy want Soto is a clear example of having to tone it down for the Mets, and he's a. 00:11:22 Speaker 1: Totally different guy. I'm with the dRTA. 00:11:24 Speaker 2: I don't know if it was because of the Mets, but it's major League Baseball versus. 00:11:28 Speaker 1: Or base but fair whatever either way, Juan Soto. 00:11:33 Speaker 2: Playing for the Dominican Republic resembles a human I've never seen. You know, He's likes Gus, smiling, he's laughing, he's batflipp and he's doing everything that I wonder if instinctually this is Juan Soto, or you could say a quick tornment brings out World Series vibes. There's so many ways to look at this, but I really believe that it's when these Latin players get together that's really how they vibe and that's who they are, and that's the way it kind of should be major League Baseball. The girlfriend that's not letting you be who you are. I feel that No, no, no, I don't feel like they're not allowing it. I feel like that's just the old school mindset. And that's why it is he Leonardo, Yeah, Hey, Leonardo Blessed Union Assaults. Hey, Leonardo's the song. Not because I look like Leonardo or that guy that played in Fargo. 00:12:21 Speaker 1: I think his name is Steve. Yeah, it sounds she likes me. For me. It was great lyrics, bro and their laugh just like Jim Carrey. That's another limb poetry right there. 00:12:30 Speaker 2: You know, I forget about playing Boston play some of that, so we'll play both. So here's here's I want to go one step deeper. Remember I said I had a one Soto theory. Yeah, that for any met fans we have. I know we're on a lot in the East coast parts of New York. I'm a New York kid living in La so I have all these group chats going on, and my buddies confirmed that, Like Rich, I hate how accurate I think your theory is. Now, I'm not the one that came up with Well, wal Soto doesn't feel at home when New York. Clearly that's the reason Steve Cohen cleared house later, Peter A. Lonzo later, Nimo later, Jeff McNeil later, half the lineup. They kept Lindor because Lindor is like a fan favorite. But there's a lot of chatter that Lindor and Juan Soto don't like each other. And it started with Lindor not necessarily welcoming Sodo, where Sodo thought he deserved a welcome to Queen's welcome to the Mets. Well, remember Aaron Judge was also like the welcoming committee. He was like apparently overboard, kind and friendly with one. And that report was from your your old pal, Mike francessa New York sports guy, that said there was rumors that Judge and Sodo bonded real quick, where Lindor got the news like we all did a year ago when Sodo signed that huge deal and didn't immediately reach out like welcome to the Mets. 00:13:51 Speaker 1: He just sort of let it linger. Yeah, and it didn't reach out at all. 00:13:54 Speaker 2: From what I heard, It's like it's like one of your friends, God forbid, they have a family member die, or they get married or do something big and you don't reach out, like he didn't reach out, Like what. 00:14:04 Speaker 1: Type of friend are you? 00:14:05 Speaker 2: Like? 00:14:05 Speaker 1: You got to reach out right. 00:14:06 Speaker 2: No, It's like when Stu Gotts was hired here, I did we not shoot him a little DM and say hey, congrats, look forward to work on It's a great. 00:14:14 Speaker 1: Point, yo. I didn't know Stu Gotts at all. 00:14:16 Speaker 2: I never met him or worked with him. I knew him, But when he got signed. You know what I did, Sam? 00:14:21 Speaker 1: What's that? 00:14:22 Speaker 2: I DMed him and I said, yeah, dude, always enjoyed what you do. Welcome to the fam, because that's what you do when you're on a team. 00:14:29 Speaker 1: Or when you want to welcome somebody. Right did he reply? He did? Oh? Good? You know what I'm gonna go look right now because I think I reached out to. 00:14:37 Speaker 2: Oh he said it only replies to make that you. 00:14:40 Speaker 1: You don't notification for cod He sent me an egg plan at the staff dinner. What does that mean? Coveno? 00:14:45 Speaker 4: At the staff dinner, he mistook me for you because he walked up and he's like, dude, I'm so sorry I didn't reply to your DM yet. It's been nuts. Oh really, yeah, I didin't send a DM. 00:14:54 Speaker 1: Why did I get the egg plan? Yeah, that's weird. That's weird, man. I'm at that that was for Danny. The egg plan. Oh yeah, that's why. Now that makes sense. 00:15:02 Speaker 2: So my point is he never felt like Lindor welcomed him. I'm not trying to give you too much shinfo about the Mets, but let's fast forward. We have Lindor two weeks ago saying this about his relationship with Soto and the team. 00:15:24 Speaker 5: We've always pulled for each other. We always wanted what was best for each other. We all best friends. That's not how he works in the clubhouse, but we are friends with good teammates. We care for each other, we love for each other. We love each other, and we want the best for each other. You know, and we have a lot of new phases here that guys seems like they're gonna work hard and they're gonna do. 00:15:45 Speaker 1: Whatever it takes to win, you know. 00:15:46 Speaker 5: I mean, that's what it comes down to. 00:15:48 Speaker 1: It's all about winning. 00:15:49 Speaker 2: That's Francisco Lindor. It's all about winning Mets and his teammates. And that's a good professional answer, a very business answer. 00:15:55 Speaker 1: But you know, we don't want it was too honest of an answer. We don't we want to think you guys are best We're not best friends. 00:16:01 Speaker 2: That's how you're gonna win. We're not best friends. We're all professionals and we want to win. Essentially what Lindor said, We're not best friends, we're professionals and we want to win. That's pretty much him saying his relationship with Juan Soto is all business. Here's one Soto after his walk off home run for the Dominican Republic. Listen to an animated You've never heard Wan Soto like this before. 00:16:20 Speaker 1: So many superstars in this team. But we're playing like a friend, were playing like a family. We're playing like a team. You know, we're playing team baseball. Nobody wants to be the hero, Nobody wants to do more than he's supposed to. Do, and it's fun to play like that. We're a family. Family man, we're a family. And it's true and it shows. 00:16:38 Speaker 2: And when you come from that mindset and you're Won Soto and you're dealing with a guy who's saying things like Lindor is saying, I don't know, I'm not feeling great about your mets right now. 00:16:49 Speaker 1: They're writings. It's right there in front of you. 00:16:51 Speaker 2: I almost feel like that was a clapback to what Lindor said. I was like, you call a sneak this, Like, yeah, what did he say? We're all not best friends and everything? Hey me here on this dr team, We're all family and that's why we're winning. This is baseball. This is fun. No, what I don't want to do? What's that movie from the nineties, is it, lindsay Loan Parent Trap? 00:17:11 Speaker 1: Was that the movie? Sam Parent Trap beats me? Yeah, we don't watch your corny movies date Jamie Lee Curtis. No, that's uh, that's a different movie. That's Parents Swap. No, that's a movie. That's another video I watched. It was Freaky Friday. 00:17:24 Speaker 2: Freaky Friday where it is not something that the movie where if someone like has to reconnect their parents. I feel like I need to do that with Lindor and Soda, like both invite them somewhere and be like, hey, guys, that's Abby. 00:17:36 Speaker 1: I's did it. We're cool, right, guys? Why don't you ask colleges confirmed the parent Trap. 00:17:41 Speaker 2: Parent Trap where Lindsay Lowan's trying to get her parents back together, so she like sets up a romantic date. Like I almost feel like someone needs to, like that's. 00:17:49 Speaker 1: Your reference to to Lindsay Lohan movie from two thousand, Hong Kong. You gotta have that parative there. Yes, it's my reference because I think Lindor and some need to be parent trapped in some capacity where they have to learn to love each other. 00:18:08 Speaker 2: All right, they do if you listen to what they said right there. It's a stark contrast. Man, It's like you got different mindsets. 00:18:15 Speaker 1: And that also shows the different mindset between WBC and MLB. These guys are playing with pride, family, love, understanding. You know, there's so much going on there, and it's visible, it's noticeable. There's a noticeable difference. 00:18:32 Speaker 2: Like I said, it's cool to see that we're on the same thought, the same train track of consciousness. Everyone's noticing it, everybody's talking about it. How Come the MLB isn't exciting like that? And then there's always the default of, well, it's a long season. 00:18:46 Speaker 1: I don't know. 00:18:46 Speaker 2: I think most of the MLB, or most of the teams have the same thought process as Lindor when it has to be what. 00:18:53 Speaker 1: Soto's saying about the WBC. 00:18:55 Speaker 2: You see did you see Lindor facetiming his Puerto Rican teammates. 00:19:00 Speaker 1: Win the other day? 00:19:00 Speaker 2: I mean they had a big win. He was supposed to be part of that team. Yeah, it might be even more dangerous if he was. My buddy Rob hit us up on the chat, my buddy Rob, who's listening in Florida on the iHeart app. He said, Yo, it's definitely at least a mild dig And he said, the thing is, though, now that we've seen Juan Soto doing the soda shuffle and playing with this enthusiasm, it will be even more abundantly clear if he goes back this season and plays. 00:19:32 Speaker 4: The other way, like too much of a contrast. 00:19:34 Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, like the thing is, you got to give show Hey a Tani credit Danny for your Dodgers, Like he plays consistently with that same love and enthusiasm whenever I've seen the guy play. Who yeah, Yeah, for sure, there's got eron judge. I don't see a difference between his love of the game as a Yankee or Team USA. I see such a blatant difference with Wan Soto. So it's an interesting one. We'll see what happens for all these Latin dudes and the other big story. If you're a Detroit Tigers fan, and I understand this, school ball has pitched his last pitch with Team USA. He's back already training with the Tigers. He's not gonna be with the team anymore. And I understand because remember he won the arbitration deal, the biggest arbitration separation of all time. The Tigers wanted to give him like a then the pack. Then the Tigers want to give him like a pack of Cheetos, and like a like a stick of. 00:20:24 Speaker 1: Gum or something. 00:20:24 Speaker 2: He's like, no, I want a million of fifty million dollars. There's the biggest arbitration difference of all time. And this is a big contract here for him. He can make probably half a half a billion dollars if he plays his cards. Right, So I get he's playing it safe. He's going back to the Tigers today. All right, Well, the reminder here is Latino players are showing us, are reminding us that baseball is fun, and we hope that carries into the regular season. But enjoy the game tonight, Team USA versus Team mex USA, and I can't wait. 00:20:54 Speaker 1: We'll talk about it tomorrow. 00:20:56 Speaker 2: We got Showtime, show Boy Mahomes Trivia next multiple choice, so easy, breezy, beautiful.
