Speaker 1: Welcome to Reality with the King.

00:00:05
Speaker 2: It's me Carlos King, the King of Reality TV and one of the most sought after executive producers in reality television with over ten years of production experience. Twice a week on Reality with the King, we'll sit down with my friends across the entertainment industry, recap our favorite reality shows and revisit unforgettable moments that we are still talking and tweeting about. Hey, rain drops. So look, we got a very juicy, shady episode today because you guys were shading me on Twitter dot com.

00:00:51
Speaker 1: Child.

00:00:52
Speaker 2: I mean, I can't even post my opinion or congratulations to another franchise about ratings for you guys start coming from me, like what did I do? This episode is all about the ratings war that I haven't seen on social media as relates to the Real Housewives of Atlanta versus Belly Hills. At the end of the day, what I've noticed is it's sort of like the beehive versus the Navy. Okay, so the Beehive are the Atlanta Housewives and the Navy are the Beverly Hills Housewives. You guys argue upper storm about these ratings, but I'm here to tell you no one cares. You are literally fighting over something that as an industry expert, these networks don't care as much as you do, and I'm here to tell you why.

00:01:47
Speaker 1: Okay, let's get started.

00:01:48
Speaker 2: It is very old school to care about same day ratings. No one gives a fuck about that anymore, guys, but you do. We live in a day and age each where we have everything at our disposal. We have social media, we have concerts, not that we're able to go outside.

00:02:09
Speaker 1: We have family, we have day brunches.

00:02:12
Speaker 2: Honey, we have so much more to do nowadays that gone are the days where you literally sit at home and watch TV at eight o'clock on a Sunday or, in this case for belly Hills, on a Wednesday. So because of that, networks don't care anymore about same day ratings because the world has changed.

00:02:34
Speaker 1: But guess who haven't change?

00:02:36
Speaker 2: You fan bases, y'all still argue up and down about reaching one million views, like, no one gives a shit about reaching one million views the same day. When I was producing The Real Housewives of Atlanta, season six was the highest rated season because we got same day audience of four million people. Oh that was back in twenty twelve. This is twenty and twenty two. So what Networth cares about, guys is live plus three.

00:03:10
Speaker 1: Let me tell you what that means.

00:03:11
Speaker 2: That means the same day plus three days my loves okay, So think about it this way. When Atlanta Housewives come on Sunday, they care about Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.

00:03:27
Speaker 1: Honey, and even Wednesday.

00:03:29
Speaker 2: When Beverly Hills come on Wednesday, they care about Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and even Saturday. So they're not caring about how many millions one show got the same day.

00:03:41
Speaker 1: No one cares about that.

00:03:43
Speaker 2: So when I congratulated Beverly Hills for having I think it was one point one five million viewers, y'all read me, tried to shade me, and.

00:03:53
Speaker 1: Y'all know I can handle it because I don't give a shit.

00:03:55
Speaker 2: But y'all were so mad at me for congratulating Belly Hills that y'all had the audacity to come for me and my shows, the Love and Marriage Franchise, and y'all talked about how I should worry about my ratings.

00:04:12
Speaker 1: Oh no, boo, boo, let's not go there.

00:04:16
Speaker 2: So look, I'm about to school y'all I'm about to give y'all a crash course on ratings.

00:04:21
Speaker 1: Just called me doctor Carlos Luther King Jr.

00:04:25
Speaker 2: Okay, and I got my understudy, Coretta Scott.

00:04:31
Speaker 3: Oh baby, I'm more like. I'm more like Bernie's their daughter. Okay, Bernie's awesome.

00:04:43
Speaker 2: Yes, Huddie back Okay, that's what this a distantoneod is called back baka.

00:04:50
Speaker 1: So look, Jasmine, they're trying to me. Baby.

00:04:53
Speaker 4: They were eating you up a little bit. They were eating you.

00:04:56
Speaker 1: Up a little bit.

00:04:57
Speaker 3: Yes, I think I mean you made some great points though, right, Like, the networks don't really care about same day because they know people are gonna stream.

00:05:06
Speaker 4: We're gonna go on our apps.

00:05:07
Speaker 3: We're gonna go on their own app, Discovery plus the Bravo app.

00:05:10
Speaker 4: We're gonna do all of that.

00:05:11
Speaker 3: Peacock right to go and watch the shows if we can't catch them on Sundays. So those same day ratings really don't mean anything.

00:05:20
Speaker 1: No, they don't mean a thing.

00:05:21
Speaker 2: And listen, you know how Kim Zoziak said, the ring don't mean a thing. I'm going to create a song called the ratings Don't mean a thing, and I'm going to give it to Beyonce.

00:05:30
Speaker 4: Oh beat you put on it, she might jump on the track.

00:05:34
Speaker 2: Okay, So look, I think she'll love it. So look at the end of the day, y'all try to get on Carrie Hillston's five G network and tell me, are you bringing up.

00:05:50
Speaker 3: Kerry Hilton because you just brought up Beyonce. That's shady. You know what you deserved it. You deserved what they did to you until they you deserved it.

00:05:59
Speaker 2: No, no, no, Because Carrie Hillton alleged during COVID or the pandemic, I should say that COVID was started because of the five G towers.

00:06:10
Speaker 1: So we all have theories.

00:06:11
Speaker 2: So look, when it comes to own, own is not seen in as many households as Bravo.

00:06:19
Speaker 1: Right.

00:06:20
Speaker 2: So you know when you guys go to the hotel, the motel, the holiday and say why why yes, okay, shout out to Ludacris anyways, or it was that Chinky I think it was.

00:06:33
Speaker 4: Chinky holiday in.

00:06:36
Speaker 1: Lula christ was on the remixed with Snoop Dogg.

00:06:37
Speaker 2: Okay, So when you're staying at the Four Seasons, you may get owned.

00:06:46
Speaker 1: Right hotels?

00:06:49
Speaker 4: What they not get on.

00:06:50
Speaker 1: At you know, allegedly, I would say Riddan booth in.

00:06:57
Speaker 3: Not the Red Room super you're not getting on. I don't know if you're gonna get Bravo in either though.

00:07:04
Speaker 1: Oh you're definitely getting Bravo. The red roof in.

00:07:06
Speaker 2: Absolutely you're getting Bravo. You're getting VH one BT for sure.

00:07:12
Speaker 3: Are those like the basic basic basic cable packages versus a premium package?

00:07:18
Speaker 1: Exactly.

00:07:20
Speaker 2: We don't have the same availability in households as our counterparts. So based on that formula, Love and Marriage is the most watched show on own and if you go on my Instagram or Twitter you'll see that. Because I ain't got to laugh it's in black and white. Love and Marriage DC is doing very well considering it's a brand new series, it's a brand new franchise. And I know you guys want to compare Potomac ratings to Love and Marriage DC because Monique Samuel's left, not fired, she left Potomac to join Love and Marriage DC, so you guys want to shave her. There's this Twitter page that posts only Brava ratings, and all of a sudden, y'all post in Love and Marriage DC ratings as if it's real comparison.

00:08:12
Speaker 1: No, it's shady. It's shady.

00:08:14
Speaker 2: So look, I'm the one who taught the Atlanta Girls how to be shady, so you can't beat me when it comes to that game, baby, period.

00:08:23
Speaker 3: Now, let me ask you a question, because I think the other side, right is they're also comparing shows that have been on for such a long time.

00:08:33
Speaker 4: You can't compare how.

00:08:34
Speaker 3: Long has the Love and Marriage franchise been a thing versus how long has have The Real Housewives been on air?

00:08:41
Speaker 4: It's not really a good.

00:08:42
Speaker 2: Comparison, right, No, The Real Housewives have been on for like seventeen eighteen years.

00:08:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, wow that long?

00:08:49
Speaker 1: Yes?

00:08:50
Speaker 2: Ohc it's been like seventeen eighteen years. Love and Marriage Huntsville has been on for four years, So how can compare a eighteen years to four years? The Real Housewives is cemented in pop culture.

00:09:05
Speaker 1: It is a phenomenon.

00:09:07
Speaker 2: It has a huge fan base, and I was so blessed and honored to be a part of that.

00:09:14
Speaker 1: I made The Real house.

00:09:15
Speaker 2: Was of Atlanta season six the highest rated season or series if you want to go there, guys, ever in Bravo history, and it.

00:09:25
Speaker 3: Took six seasons for you to do that. Because I guarantee their ratings in season one weren't at well, what was it four million at its height? That wasn't They weren't getting those ratings in season one.

00:09:35
Speaker 2: Now season one they cracked like six hundred seven hundred thousand, and I think a million maybe during the reunion, and then six seasons later they cracked like four point five four point six million.

00:09:49
Speaker 1: So it takes time for an audience to grow.

00:09:52
Speaker 2: This black man created a franchise and that should be celebrated.

00:09:57
Speaker 1: So while you kind of shade me, is never going to.

00:10:00
Speaker 2: Work because I created something that is number one on a network that was created by a woman who I love and a mayer to this day. So you can't shade us, baby, And at the end of the day, I wasn't shading the Atlanta Girls. I will never and listen to me loud and clear, I will never shade Atlanta Housewives. I'm not that producer who leaves the show and wants to see it fail.

00:10:25
Speaker 1: I was never that.

00:10:26
Speaker 2: So much so what y'all don't know, And Jasmine, this would be an exclusive if I wanted the Atlanta Housewives to fail, why do I still talk to some of the housewives and give them advice?

00:10:39
Speaker 1: On how to make a scene great. Oh, y'tta know that? Huh? Oh? Okay, got it?

00:10:44
Speaker 3: Are you being paid as a consulting producer when you do this?

00:10:48
Speaker 2: No, because they're my friends. They're my friends. I told when I left after season nine and I saw how the show wasn't what I thought it would be. I said, at the end end of the day, my name will always be a part of this show, and I wanted to win because it's my legacy. I never want my legacy to be tarnish. I'm not that guy. I want the show to win. And I remember when I had a conversation with the housewives during season nine. I said to them, it is a privilege that we as black people have the number one show on Bravo, and if you ladies do not step it up and stop being comfortable, you are going to lose that spot.

00:11:37
Speaker 1: You're going to lose it.

00:11:38
Speaker 2: So now that we see Beverly Hills Housewives as number one, I don't take any pride in that.

00:11:45
Speaker 1: I warned them.

00:11:46
Speaker 2: I had this conversation with them, and you can ask all of them if it's true or not.

00:11:52
Speaker 1: I did because I.

00:11:53
Speaker 2: Knew that if you remain comfortable this may be your fate. So it saddens me honestly that they're no longer number one, and at the end of the day, Atlanta can't get back to where it was, but it starts with people who are invested in the show.

00:12:12
Speaker 4: Yeah. I think that's a great point that you make.

00:12:15
Speaker 3: I will say though, you know, if I'm coming from a viewers perspective or somebody on Twitter who wants to read you, it's it's a good comparison to make, right, because you said it yourself. Your legacy is with Real Housewives of Atlanta. When people think of that franchise and it's golden years, they do think of you being heavily attached, being the producer, and so it's an easy comparison for them to make between Real Housewives of Atlanta and the Love and Marriage franchise because this is also something that you created and started.

00:12:48
Speaker 4: Right.

00:12:49
Speaker 3: I think with Beverly Hills, what they missed is when you did tweet about them being like the number one franchise or the highest rate it you were coming from a fans perspective, you weren't coming right. You prod you weren't shading the Real Housewives of Atlanta. You really just stated the fact, and you were celebratory because you are a fan of the show period.

00:13:09
Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's that's what it is. I'm a fan of the show. And listen, what's interesting is, at the end of the day, Look, let's be real, let's talk about the same day rating. So now that I schooled you guys that the networks don't care about same day, y'all do, so y'all can stop that little argument.

00:13:25
Speaker 1: But let's talk about it.

00:13:26
Speaker 2: It is my fundamental belief that at the end of the day, Atlanta Housewives at.

00:13:31
Speaker 1: One point was must see TV.

00:13:33
Speaker 2: It was like, little girl, I can't go to the club just yet, Save me a chair, send me a bottle. I gotta watch Atlanta Housewives because something is happening that I need to see in this moment. It's sort of like when we watch Power or p Valley and it's like, look, I gotta watch it right now, or even drag Race, Like I gotta watch drag Race right now because Twitter is gonna spoil it for me, so I gotta watch it live. That's how Atlanta Housewise used to be and in my opinion, and I would love to get yours Jasmin. In my opinion, I just don't think this season is must see TV and people are willing to not go to Sunday brunch or have Sunday dinner instead of watching the show. Like I think people are saying, I'll catch it Monday or even Tuesday. And I think Beverly Hills, who, by the way, I don't think they're having a great season, that's.

00:14:27
Speaker 1: My opinion, but I think they have.

00:14:31
Speaker 2: This fan base that really wants to watch it the same night it comes on.

00:14:36
Speaker 3: Atlanta has that as well. They just don't have as many people who are willing to do it. Like as a as a fan of both shows, neither one of them for me feel like I need to stop what I'm doing to watch them live.

00:14:47
Speaker 4: Right.

00:14:48
Speaker 3: It used to be an event, Like you said, it was an event for a Real Housewives of Atlanta. I need I need to live tweet this with everybody on Twitter. I don't want it to be spoiled the same you know, I guess Beverly Hills has That's no shade. But I've never felt that way about Beverly Hills.

00:15:05
Speaker 1: Not not, not not this season.

00:15:07
Speaker 2: Last season I did with Erica Jane drama and Denise Richard's Bravo, Bravo, fucking Bravo.

00:15:11
Speaker 3: Yeah, I never, I never was really into Beverly Hills like that, But I do agree with you. Neither one of them are having particularly strong seasons.

00:15:24
Speaker 1: For you to say that.

00:15:25
Speaker 2: But when I say I'm a hater, Carlos, it's better focus on your own shows.

00:15:30
Speaker 1: I have Honey and we're winning.

00:15:34
Speaker 2: But like, I really think it's like the fan base of musicians, you know how, like your favorite artists can drop a song that may.

00:15:41
Speaker 1: Not be great, but you're gonna rhyme with them anyway.

00:15:44
Speaker 2: And play it constantly and say, uh, this song is really good, though, son, like it has a lot of moments I like to be in my y.

00:15:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I can't, I do have I will.

00:15:56
Speaker 3: It is easier for me to be critical because I'm not a former executive producer of either of those shows. I'm not heavily attached to the network. So yeah, I mean, I think for you, you just have to you just have to take it, really because you you shouldn't have tweeted it.

00:16:12
Speaker 1: You said I should not have no.

00:16:17
Speaker 3: As a long as a as a long standing Real Housewives of Atlanta stand I was burned a little bit to see you calling these other girls the number one, even though factually it's true.

00:16:32
Speaker 4: The stand in me was like, oh that hurt a little bit, so.

00:16:36
Speaker 1: I can kind of see why they ate you.

00:16:39
Speaker 2: And guys, this isn't scripted. She never told me that until now, So why they.

00:16:45
Speaker 4: Ate you up a little bit?

00:16:46
Speaker 2: Oh well, not that you guys know my intention. Listen, I'm a fan of reality TV. I want all of us to win, So me saying congratulations was not this sing alan. It was really celebrating that fact that you know, they they're they're the number one franchise and anything can be number one, and I'm always gonna give it its praise.

00:17:11
Speaker 1: But if I made you.

00:17:13
Speaker 2: Guys feel like I was shading Atlanta, I apologize.

00:17:16
Speaker 1: It was my intention.

00:17:17
Speaker 2: I at the end of the day, Look, I know that I'm the King of Reality TV, but the beauty of me, guys, is although I'm an expert in this field, I'm also a super fan.

00:17:30
Speaker 1: So when you see those.

00:17:32
Speaker 2: Moments, guys, know that I'm coming at it as a super fan.
