Speaker 1: Hi, listen, Kyle Forber and welcome to The Philly Show, Everybody, Ruben Tomorrow, Junior, Jim Salisbury, Todd's Lucky. The Philly Show brought to you by the foul Territory Network. Friday, December sixth, twenty twenty four, couple of days before the Winter Meeting starts.

00:00:19
Speaker 2: It's it's trade and season fellas.

00:00:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, Phillies haven't made any trades yet, but they might.

00:00:27
Speaker 2: They probably will.

00:00:28
Speaker 1: They've indicated that they will, you know, And I chatted with Dave Dombrowski today. He said, you know, we got to be open minded. We know, we definitely want to be open minded as we pursue this offseason. Like now I say open minded, I know people have kind of taken that comment and kind of really run with it. So because I think, you know, we and others have said, all right, open minded means they're trading somebody. They are trading somebody. So we asked our Philly Show friends to send us some trade proposals. Ruben has agreed to, at the very end pick his favorite proposal, whether he thinks it would ever happen or not, and that that person will win a Phillies Show t shirt with which Jim is sporting. Right now, you can get your Philly Show t shirts. You go to the Phillyshow dot com. You can get a really sweet Philly Show teas by forty seven brands. So you know, it feels extra nice, real real nice shirt movement.

00:01:24
Speaker 3: And they're beautiful, every really great material.

00:01:26
Speaker 2: Man. Yeah, sure they are great. They are great.

00:01:29
Speaker 3: Job.

00:01:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's just let's jump right into it. So I asked for proposals, trade proposals on every social media channel that we're on basically, and we are on all of them. We are on Instagram, we are on x, we are on Threads, we are on Blue Sky, we are on everything, and we get YouTube.

00:01:53
Speaker 2: We're on YouTube.

00:01:54
Speaker 1: We asked pretty much everywhere, and we got a lot of trade proposals.

00:02:00
Speaker 2: And one team out shown all.

00:02:02
Speaker 1: Others in terms of interest from Phillies fans, and that was the very lowly Chicago White Sox. Everybody knows that the Phillies took a hard run in July for Garrett Crochet.

00:02:15
Speaker 2: I had heard that the Phillies made what they felt.

00:02:18
Speaker 1: Was a more than reasonable offer to the White Sox for Garrett Crochet, so much so that they were like, Eh, this.

00:02:29
Speaker 2: This is a this is this is a lot to get Garrett Crochet.

00:02:32
Speaker 1: The White Sox turned them down in the end, but Garret Crochet is definitely on Phillies fans mind. So and they really got to trade him, right, guys, would you not agree if you don't trade Garret Crochet this winter?

00:02:43
Speaker 2: What the heck are you doing? If you're the Chicago White Sox.

00:02:45
Speaker 4: He's a right because you go into the season and try to deal them in July, you're risking you know, who knows what could happen in the course of three months. Right, So yeah, it feels like you know they're primed to move him.

00:02:58
Speaker 3: And yeah, to.

00:03:00
Speaker 4: Quote Willie Nelson, you are always on my mind. Yeah, sure, he stands.

00:03:07
Speaker 2: So this is from Fight for Red October on X.

00:03:11
Speaker 1: He says, how about Alec Bohm justin Crawford, He's the number three prospect in the system according to MLB Pipeline, the number fifty three prospect in baseball, Starlin Caba, who's their number four prospect? Make Abel who's their number six prospect? Gabrielle Rinconis, who's their number eleven prospect? For Garrett Crochet and Luis Robert Jr. So you get your left handed starter, top of the rotation guy to compliment what is already one of the best rotations in baseball, and you get a guy that can play center field. Seems like a lot guys, But what's your first reaction to that one? If you're the White Sox and Dave Dombrowski calls Chris gets goes imna hummana, hummina.

00:03:55
Speaker 4: What I honestly don't do you think bowm is the type of guy they're looking for? A guy with two years of control. Don't you want younger guys that are kind of, you know, just reaching the threshold, younger with even more control and even more you know, less on the payroll side. I'm not I'm not sure if that works for either side. But what do you think, rub.

00:04:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know that.

00:04:23
Speaker 5: I think you're right about them looking for younger players. I mean the Justin Crawford part of that, and the Kava with Conez, all of those players they sort of fit the bill.

00:04:33
Speaker 3: I actually think it's a lot to give up for your release.

00:04:36
Speaker 5: I think you're I think for me, you're giving up not only now talent and let's not forget Okay, guys. Albac Bohm was an All Star. He was an All Star. He's one of the better offensive players in baseball. And he also sort of fits the bill and what you want a guy who makes contact to you know, he drives and runs. He does a lot of things that they sort of need in their lineup. So, you know, people may think that.

00:05:04
Speaker 3: They're soured, they've soured on Alec Bohmer, what have you.

00:05:07
Speaker 5: I think that they're just exploring things and a guy they just kind of tossed into it.

00:05:11
Speaker 3: Great, because you know you're going like Crochet, Great, but Crochet just one year of control? Am I not right? Is it one one.

00:05:20
Speaker 4: Year of control?

00:05:22
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:05:22
Speaker 2: He's he's a free agent after twenty twenty six.

00:05:25
Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, yeah, okay, so so two years of control. But I mean, to me, I don't know. I just feel like I love pitching and I want to get pitching.

00:05:34
Speaker 5: But if you're going to do Alec Bohm and Crawford and Kaba and Abel and Minconas, I mean, you're talking about future and present talent, and that's a whole lot to give up.

00:05:46
Speaker 3: And I'm not a big Robert Junior fan. I don't know that he sort of fits the bill.

00:05:51
Speaker 5: He doesn't make contact all that much, he doesn't stay on the field.

00:05:54
Speaker 3: I don't. I don't know.

00:05:56
Speaker 2: I've I have a lot of this past year.

00:05:58
Speaker 3: I have a lot of questions out who he is now.

00:06:01
Speaker 5: Maybe he needs a maybe he needs a new zip code.

00:06:05
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:06:07
Speaker 5: And maybe he fits into that lineup in Philadelphia much much better and feels comfortable not having to be the guy. And I like both those players. But I don't love Relise Robert Junior.

00:06:18
Speaker 3: I just don't. And so I think you've just given up a whole lot with that deal.

00:06:24
Speaker 4: I do think though, when it comes to Crochet, he's very He's really interesting to me. And I don't think starting pitching is your biggest need. But I think if you can get an arm like that and make, you know, make a strength even stronger, you go for it. And with two years of control and where this team is on its winning curve, with the ages of its nucleus, uh, it's like when you know it has been for a couple of years, but it continues to be win now for this team, and they got to get it over the finish line the next couple of years.

00:06:55
Speaker 3: Here.

00:06:55
Speaker 4: That's why tomy. Garrett Crochet remains so damn intriguing, and I would I would consider giving up some serious value for him if it if it really worked for me, because I just think these next two years are so important with you know, now Harper is getting more into his thirties, Turners and more into his thirties. One more year Schwarber, one more year rail Mudo and oh, by the way, Zach Wheeler is gonna be in his mid thirties. Aaron Noler is over thirty. It's now, it is now for this team.

00:07:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree with that.

00:07:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, I would love to see what that offer was in July that the White Sox turned down.

00:07:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt. Yeah.

00:07:31
Speaker 1: I mean, you know, there's a lot of again, a lot of offers, a lot of a lot of offers about Garrett Krosche and the White Sox Philly basement on Exit Boom, Rojas, Seth Johnson, who's the number fifteen prospect who they got in the Gregorysota deal, Mick Abel for Koshet and Robert Junior.

00:07:47
Speaker 2: Some people threw.

00:07:47
Speaker 1: In Taiwan Walker and a bunch of prospects to trade you know all that stuff.

00:07:52
Speaker 4: Is that one again?

00:07:53
Speaker 5: What is that one again the boom Johann Roja, Seth Johnson and Mick Abel for Krosche Robert Junior.

00:08:00
Speaker 4: Which I think about that.

00:08:02
Speaker 3: I mean, that was something I would certainly consider.

00:08:05
Speaker 2: There's no no, I'm not sure that you would.

00:08:07
Speaker 3: I don't I don't know that. I don't know that the White Sox would do that. But that is a very interesting trait for me.

00:08:13
Speaker 4: I agree, I I I don't know if. I mean, the White Sox are looking at for a score and they need to make I don't know if that does it on the White Sox end, but it would give me a little flow, as you might say.

00:08:25
Speaker 1: I like the all right, speaking of flow, guys, Speaking of flow, shive ben to Sports is giving away a free Mitchell and Ness Phillies hoodie to Philly's show listeners.

00:08:39
Speaker 2: Viewers go to shib sports.

00:08:40
Speaker 1: Dot com backslash tps enter to win a free Mitchell and Ness Phillies hoodie blue hoodie Philly's logo on the front Mitchell and that stuff is always awesome.

00:08:52
Speaker 2: So make sure you do that.

00:08:53
Speaker 3: Go.

00:08:53
Speaker 4: Do you show me that hoodie?

00:08:54
Speaker 3: Oh?

00:08:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah I can. If you are check it out.

00:08:57
Speaker 3: If you can cover you can cover my face.

00:09:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, Romen keeps getting blocked out whenever you show this.

00:09:04
Speaker 4: Sorry, I just discovered YouTube last week. I love it.

00:09:10
Speaker 1: Jim, we know that's not true because I know during raindelays you're watching a lot of nineteen sixties NHL highlights.

00:09:15
Speaker 2: So I know I know that that is garbage.

00:09:19
Speaker 4: W old hockey videos, old hockey fight videos.

00:09:23
Speaker 1: Anytime there's a rain delay, it's always great to look over and see what Jim's looking at on the internet because it's after some guy in the in gold taking a hockey puck to the face because they didn't wear masks back then, when men women ump warsly?

00:09:41
Speaker 5: What okay, exactly exactly.

00:09:45
Speaker 4: You know who gump warsly?

00:09:46
Speaker 3: Was no chance.

00:09:49
Speaker 2: Gump Warsely? Oh my god, who do you play for?

00:09:53
Speaker 4: He played for the Canadians, and he played for the Stars and the Rangers.

00:09:57
Speaker 3: Thank you for that lesson. He took it. He took me down. How Emily Lane Well.

00:10:01
Speaker 1: Also, I just want to mention real quick with ship sports. Go to shipsports dot com. Use the promo code the Philly Show. You get fifteen percent off. Holidays around the corner. Take care of the people that you love. The most so Gera Crochet. Luis Robert took a couple of trade proposals there Houston Astros. Lot of interest in the Houston Astros by Phillies fans, especially because word is getting out now that to possibly re sign Alex Bregman that the Astros want to do. They want to keep l two Vane Bregman, make him lifetime, lifelong Houston Astros. They might have to trade or might consider trading Kyle Tucker specifically. Also Ryan Presley, their former closer, current setup man, could be traded.

00:10:46
Speaker 2: Here's one deal.

00:10:47
Speaker 1: This is from thoughts and prayers on x Aiden Miller, who's their number one prospect, the number twenty six prospect in baseball, Alec Bohm and quote somebody else for Tucker and Ryan Presley. Dave Debrowski calls up the Astros. What kind of reaction does he get on that one?

00:11:05
Speaker 3: If I'm the Astros, I take it immediately? Would you? I would?

00:11:10
Speaker 5: I mean, I love Kyle Tucker. But Kyle Tucker is he under control for one more year?

00:11:13
Speaker 2: Yeah? He's He's a free agent. Yeah, Kyle Tucker is a free agent after this season.

00:11:19
Speaker 5: So well, depending on depending on somebody else, I mean Aiden Miller and Alec Boham. Again, you're you're taking the type of player that you that the Phillies actually need, and I think it's really hurting the Phillies a lot more than than than one would think.

00:11:34
Speaker 3: And I know Kyle.

00:11:35
Speaker 5: I love Kyle Tucker. I think he's an outstanding hitter, Ryan Plesh Presley. Yes he's closed in the past, but his arrows going down. I think that he can be an excellent picture for them in the back end. But but you're talking about one year. And I know, Jim, you're you're talking about win now, but in this in this case, I mean you're talking about Aiden Miller. You have him under control for eight more years or whatever it is, and Alec Bohm for a couple. I just feel like that's a whole lot to give up for players that are really only going to help you for one year.

00:12:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, And then you you know, when you're giving up that type of talent and that type of you know, years upon years of control and that type of upside for one season of Kyle Tucker, who I agree is a hell of a player I think would really really help you. You need to be looking at extending the relationship with Kyle Tucker, and now you're looking at probably another three hundred million dollar expenditure. I don't know that they can go there. It's you know, I'd love to have the guy. I just don't know that I can pay that price.

00:12:36
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:12:36
Speaker 1: There were a couple other ones, like Alec Bohm and Suarez for Kyle Tucker.

00:12:39
Speaker 2: That was from men persic on X.

00:12:41
Speaker 1: There was another one Jeffrey Hasted on Instagram, Boom Crawford, Starlin Cobb, and Eduardo Tayet, who's the number five prospect for Kyle Tucker. So just a lot of prospects for a one year guy.

00:12:53
Speaker 6: Hey, guys, don't forget Boom is a tremendous amount of value. He is an all star Herd Baseman who is under control for two years is put together tremendous numbers. I think, you know, when you start maybe a bone for Kyle Tucker, maybe, But does that make your team that much better in twenty twenty five now if you do some other things around that, maybe, But my goodness, you're you know, you're trying to get You're trying to get not just marginally better. If you're moving a guy like Boonem, you better get significantly better.

00:13:29
Speaker 4: So they would put Boem at first base.

00:13:31
Speaker 3: I would think so, but they haven't been able to secure that first base. They're trying to resign.

00:13:38
Speaker 5: Now, if they do that and then sign Phillies do and you have Bregman and Kyle Tucker in your in your coffers man, and it makes it a little.

00:13:49
Speaker 3: Bit different, and it makes it a little different. Yeah.

00:13:52
Speaker 1: Well, you know, like Ken Rosenthal, I think did we talk about this earlier this week? Rosenthal said that, you know, he thinks that Bregman's looking for Manny Machado type of a contract over three hundred million. So we're talking about a lot of guys that are going to be old three. I want to get three hundred million, or you know, might get close to three hundred million, might get more than three hundred million.

00:14:09
Speaker 4: So who isn't looking for three hundred million. You gotta start high, man.

00:14:13
Speaker 2: I would love it.

00:14:14
Speaker 3: Give me one. I'll I'll take dollars.

00:14:20
Speaker 4: I want to I want to one out. So if I get three hundred million dollar contract, I quit the Phillies show.

00:14:26
Speaker 3: What why would you?

00:14:28
Speaker 2: What about for the love of the game.

00:14:32
Speaker 4: That's right, I'm here for alone.

00:14:35
Speaker 2: You can be Yeah.

00:14:36
Speaker 1: But the thing is, Jim, is that this week you can do that show remotely with your three hundred million dollars. You could be sitting on a on a you know, on the beach in Maui opining about the Phillies.

00:14:46
Speaker 2: So you can make it happen if you want to.

00:14:48
Speaker 4: Okay, I'll stick around, all right, all right?

00:14:49
Speaker 1: So Cardinals A lot of a lot of uh, several questions about the Cardinals. Because Ryan Helsley is reportedly available to Phillies need a right handed laid inning relief. He would be the closer, he would lock it down.

00:15:02
Speaker 3: Uh.

00:15:03
Speaker 2: So here's one.

00:15:03
Speaker 1: This is from the M D d C on X. The Phillies get Ryan Helsley and Brandon Donovan. The Cardinals get Seth Johnson, Dante Norri who was their first round pick last year. Who's the number seven prospect over a Devin salty Bomb, number nine pick or number nine prospect overall?

00:15:21
Speaker 2: And he threw in a player to be named later.

00:15:23
Speaker 5: So whoever you want to throw it the old PTVNL exactly.

00:15:30
Speaker 4: Who is the player to be named?

00:15:31
Speaker 2: That's yeah, that's that's a big one. I mean, you know, we talked recently.

00:15:36
Speaker 1: Geo Gonzalez was the player to be named later in the Jim Tomy trade many years ago. So the player to be named later can be someone pretty pretty good to have a long major league career.

00:15:44
Speaker 4: But I was gonna say, as they say up in big Shop meetings that Ruben used to attend, I don't mind the framework there right, No, I don't know. I got to see it when you build it out the rule. I don't mind the framework because, uh, Hellsley and.

00:16:03
Speaker 3: Donovan, you're talking about prospects.

00:16:06
Speaker 4: I would feel those two guys would feel two nice needs for you left field and back in. I I like the framework of it.

00:16:15
Speaker 5: I sir, I do as well, because you're not taking talent off of your major league team and you're adding to your to your major league team. Obviously it's going to hit your your bottom line as far as.

00:16:27
Speaker 3: Talent is concerned. But I'm just not sure that's going to be enough for the.

00:16:31
Speaker 1: Cardinals right for Ryan, Yeah, Hellsley, you know he's a free agent after this season. Donovan's not a free agent until after twenty twenty seven, so they have he's got a lot of controls, So you're going to give up a big league player like that for the next few years. You need to maybe get a little bit more, you know, juice from the squeeze, so to speak. So and I don't know if I don't know if Johnson, Norri and Salty Bond.

00:16:56
Speaker 3: Is enough.

00:16:57
Speaker 2: I don't know who the top dog is in the that in that deal, you.

00:17:00
Speaker 3: Know, the thing they would have, beauty is in the eye and the holder.

00:17:04
Speaker 5: I would think that they would have to have one of Crawford or Aiden Miller if they're going to go into the prospect.

00:17:12
Speaker 4: Level, right, I'd like those two guys.

00:17:14
Speaker 7: But I will say that if it comes instead of Dante Nori, for instance, you throw in Crawford in that deal, that's a very interesting deal for me.

00:17:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, you feel in two needs because the Cardinals know also they've they've come out and said, listen, we're not tanking. We're not going to do that.

00:17:34
Speaker 1: But we're not We're gonna play our young guys next season. We need to develop our young guys more. What a way, it's it's a wasted commodity to have an elite level closer who's going to be a free agent after next season. When you're not, you don't expect to make the playoffs, So now is the time to trade. Now is the time to trade Ryan Helsley.

00:17:54
Speaker 4: So what does that kind of ironic if Ryan Helsley ended up with Philadelphia was? I mean, he was such a it was the main character him and the manager of Marmola, well of the main characters in I think launching the Phillies to the twenty twenty two World Series that they were losing to nothing. He has that meltdown in Bush Stadium and it changed the entire momentum of that series and the momentum of the Phillies team and put him on this course to have that great postseason in twenty twenty two. That would really be It would be an interesting story angle.

00:18:28
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that'd be fun. That'd be the first thing we would ask him about.

00:18:31
Speaker 1: Do you ever about that ninth Then at one.

00:18:34
Speaker 3: Breaking pitch it was flipped in the right field.

00:18:39
Speaker 1: Another another one regarding Ryan Helsley was a Brandon marsh Dante Nori and Gabriel Rinconis for Ryan Helsley and Jordan Walker, so.

00:18:49
Speaker 2: Kind of talking about the same thing.

00:18:50
Speaker 1: Walker had had a pretty good rookie year and then he struggled so much last year he spent most of the year in Triple A.

00:18:56
Speaker 3: But you know, I just don't feel like that's going to be enough for the Saint Louis Cardinals.

00:19:00
Speaker 5: I like the idea, I like the framework also of that feel they do get some some good young players and Norrie's I mean, he's a prospect, but he's a pretty good looking prospect. That said, marsh is solid, but is he a difference maker for that lineup?

00:19:16
Speaker 3: I just don't know.

00:19:17
Speaker 5: I know he's under control for a little while, but I just don't know if that's going to be enough to move a guy like Ryan Helsley. Jordan Walker is still kind of a crapshoot for me. I don't know what he's going to become. Defensively, I don't know. You know, he's not a great defender anywhere on the field, and it's really about his bat and that really has not developed right.

00:19:37
Speaker 2: The Brewers could trade Devin Williams this offseason.

00:19:40
Speaker 1: There's a lot of talk about that. So we got a couple of proposals on the Brewers. Let me get your opinions on this one, guys. Aunt Parendazzi on X straight up trade Ranger Suarez for Devin Williams and then t Montgomery ten on Instagram straight up trade Alec Bohm Forvin Williams to either of those get you thinking?

00:20:04
Speaker 4: Get they both get me thinking. And the thing they get me thinking a lot about is I like some aspect a lot of aspects of what you're getting back. It's what's like the the associated move who becomes your third baseman? Who goes into your rotation? Like how do you replace Ranger and Bom? Is the total equation making you a better team? I just think I have to consider more than just the actual players going each way. But I certainly, boy, I would love to see Devin Williams at the back end of you know that bullpen.

00:20:45
Speaker 2: Ruben, How do you do something like that?

00:20:48
Speaker 1: Say, say Alec Bohm for Devin Williams could get it done like the Buris we will we will do this trade Rubin today? If you want to do it, how do you do it not knowing who's going to play third base? Because you make that trade and say your other plans fall through?

00:21:04
Speaker 5: Now what Yeah, No, that's a difficult one to do without knowing who your third basement is going to be.

00:21:10
Speaker 3: Uh, get a Mundo Sosa be a third baseman for a little while.

00:21:14
Speaker 5: Are you pushing, pushing the button or pushing the envelope on Aiden.

00:21:18
Speaker 3: Miller getting to third base too early? Are you making a move.

00:21:23
Speaker 5: To sign a guy like Bregmant Again, it's gonna be a ton of money.

00:21:26
Speaker 3: I don't know if he fits.

00:21:27
Speaker 5: That said, the framework behind Boem and Devin Williams, that deal I like more than the Ranger for Devin Williams kind of weird. Sounds weird because Rangers sort of fell off at the end of the year last year. But again, I've scoll I'll go back to this again. Rangers pitching for a contract. He's one year. I don't want to take pitching out. I never want to take pitching out, man. I want to keep pitching in and and then work around the offense somehow, some way.

00:21:54
Speaker 3: But Bom for Devin Williams kind of interesting.

00:21:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, that is interesting.

00:21:58
Speaker 3: Interesting. Williams is under control for one year or two.

00:22:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a free agent. He's Yeah, he's a free agent.

00:22:04
Speaker 5: So I mean, you may want if you're Dave Sebrawski, believe it or not, you may want a little bit more than that. Back just so you have a piece another piece, because you know Devin Williams is gone unless you sign the guy, he's gone.

00:22:18
Speaker 3: After one year and BOMs. You know he's a two year player.

00:22:21
Speaker 4: Right he's I know he's gone in one year. But you think you got a World Series team. It's a nice shot to take.

00:22:28
Speaker 1: Yes, it is, no doubt worked for Brad Lidge when you guys got Brad Lidge. Yeah, Chicago Cubs another straight up trade Ranger Suarez for Cody Bellinger. Bellinger has a he picked up his club option. He had down year last year, he would not have a great year, and he's got another player option for next the twenty twenty six season for twenty five million dollars. Last season, he hit two sixty six three twenty five on base eighteen home runs.

00:23:01
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:23:02
Speaker 1: I don't know if I would do that one ranger for right.

00:23:05
Speaker 5: Now, but I would have But no, but I would have some interest in Cody Bellinger just for the for the athleticism alone. I think he's his center field, you know, especially in our ballpark.

00:23:16
Speaker 3: Uh, he's got a chance.

00:23:17
Speaker 5: To be a Gold Globe type of center fielder and he can be dangerous again strikeouts, does he make enough contact another left handed hitter. I don't like that feel because I don't want to be Suarez. But but Cody Bellinger be in our lineup not the worst.

00:23:36
Speaker 3: Thing in the world, especially with his ability to uh play defense.

00:23:40
Speaker 4: And you're looking at what twenty five this year and twenty five next year, because even if he has a bad years taking that player option, right.

00:23:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I guess if he has a if he has a great, awesome m v P type season, maybe he knocks out the option.

00:23:53
Speaker 2: Ye that which is it's okay, yeah, what you want. You got a great year out of him.

00:23:58
Speaker 4: You know what I think of Todd? Would I think at Cody Bellinger that night in Dodger Stadium years ago when he hit he got called up from the minors, he hit his first big league home run against the Phillies. It was the night Hector Narris gave up three bombs in a row. I mean, this was a victory. We were all writing the story of Phillies. You know, we're gonna get out of the Knights and early and boom boom. I know, Adrian Gonzalez hit one, Bellinger hit one, and maybe Justin turned I don't know. It was within ninety seconds. It was three home runs, and I felt so bad for Hector. I just remember that clubhouse being just walking into that funeral paller. Oh my god, that was a tough night.

00:24:40
Speaker 1: I remember going to that I remember going to that manager's office. Pete mccannon. I cannot remember the exact quote, but he said something that was he was like, I'm absolutely af floored by what I just saw, or something like he was absolutely like he didn't even know what to say because it was Jim.

00:24:57
Speaker 2: It was boom, boom, boom.

00:24:59
Speaker 1: Dodger Stadium is shaking, you know. Ninth inning, Hector Nares gives up three home runs.

00:25:04
Speaker 3: But you're right.

00:25:05
Speaker 4: I think Bellinger hit it like halfway up the fall pole with that thunderous swing of his. I mean, it was just a very surreal moment in Dodger Stadium. We've had a few of them that in that ballpark.

00:25:20
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I just, oh my god.

00:25:25
Speaker 1: So the Seattle Times, a reporter from the Seattle Times wrote that the Phillies had kicked the tires on Alec Bohm for George Kirby or Logan Gilbert, one of their two starters. So I got West and Wilson fan page on Instagram says, what about one of those? What about a bomb for George Kirby type of trade? I like it you get a solid big league starter for sure.

00:25:50
Speaker 3: I don't have a problem with either one of those.

00:25:54
Speaker 5: And is it possible that the Mariners have enough his starting pitching depth that they can do that maybe the offense they need offense?

00:26:03
Speaker 3: Do they need offense?

00:26:05
Speaker 4: Those guys are like there were ones? And do you think both brings back that that level of a pitcher or more.

00:26:10
Speaker 2: I don't know.

00:26:11
Speaker 3: He's got a lot of value.

00:26:12
Speaker 5: But if that's again again, I mean, that's that's one way to do That's when we're.

00:26:16
Speaker 3: Going to do it.

00:26:17
Speaker 4: Do you think the benching in the postseason? And I know you've got to try to win it's the postseason. You got to try to win today scuffle and there were a lot of reasons for it. But you think now that the dust has settled, the the timing of the of the benching, the fact that it was so spotlighted, does it almost look like does it hurt his value a little bit, like almost like a red flag or something that just the timing of it.

00:26:40
Speaker 3: I think it was more honestly, I think that the people.

00:26:43
Speaker 5: I think the reality of it is that his hand wasn't really quite there. And we talk about this all the time, no one really talks about it. I mean, I don't think the guy was completely healthy. The hands are very very hands and wrists for hitters are really important. Let's let's talk about Jason Wirk. It was a real big risk when we got him because he had a lot of risk problems, had a bunch of you know, yeah, he had a bunch of uh surgeries on his wrists, you know, and and so that that was a big risk for us, and when we got him originally he ended up working around it.

00:27:15
Speaker 3: But hands.

00:27:17
Speaker 4: The reason I the reason, the reason I asked that is I agree with that he's a good player with value. I'm just surprised there's not a little bit more like buzz around him in terms of teams, like we have a chance to get Alec baul Oh.

00:27:29
Speaker 5: I think there's a lot. I think there is a lot of buzz about him. I mean, I think there's a lot of teams that would love to have this guy under control for a couple more years.

00:27:38
Speaker 3: I mean, this is a guy that.

00:27:41
Speaker 1: And you know, what's funny is now he's regarded as stuff I've read about him, is he's regarded as a solid to above average defender.

00:27:46
Speaker 2: I mean he's kind of.

00:27:48
Speaker 3: One year two years of control for.

00:27:50
Speaker 2: Him two years two years.

00:27:51
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, So I mean we're talking about the value of him being under.

00:27:55
Speaker 3: Control for two more years. And that's I thought was. I don't know why I was down myself. I mean, man, that is awfully significant thirteen that wants to gettend.

00:28:04
Speaker 4: Particular, it might be win win if you think you can move it forward by moving to me moving, but the best might still be to come with Alec Bahum.

00:28:14
Speaker 1: I agree, right, And then again you make that trade. Your rotation is ridiculously good, but you still have to fill that whole at third base. You still have to address the offensive issues. So let's do a couple more real quick the Rockies. How about Alec Bohm, Raphael Marshawn and make able for centerfielder Brenton Doyle and third baseman Ryan McMahon. Doyle is a free agent.

00:28:40
Speaker 2: This is the thing.

00:28:40
Speaker 1: Doyle is not a free agent until after the twenty twenty nine season, so he's got a long way to go. McMahon is signed through twenty twenty seven. He's owed twelve million, sixteen million, sixteen million over the next three years.

00:28:56
Speaker 2: I don't know if that seems a light made for me.

00:29:00
Speaker 1: If i'm if I'm the Rockies, right, you know, Mick Abel and Alec Bohm, you get, Yeah, Brenton Doyle locked up for several more years. I mean, maybe you want to get out from Ryan McMahon's contract.

00:29:12
Speaker 5: I just don't see how the Rockies would want to do this. Yeah, I think they want to try to keep all their young players. They're not going to contend anytime soon. I don't think that they're I don't think that they're moving forward mick Abel. Do they think he's good enough? They probably would be asking for somebody like Painter or somebody a little. I mean, mcabel has a chance to be really good, but he hasn't really shown it yet. I just don't know that this is the right This is going to be something that the Rockies would would want to do.

00:29:41
Speaker 1: And both of those guys strike out a lot too. Those both of those guys swing and miss a lot, So you're kind of like, no, you make that trade and everybody's going wastecond. I thought you're trying to like put the ball in play more.

00:29:51
Speaker 3: Yeah. I like Brent Doyle.

00:29:52
Speaker 5: I like his talent, like his speed, and like his ability. But but he's got a lot, kind of kind of a long way to go to be a bonifi everyday center fielder.

00:30:01
Speaker 4: For me, didn't you want a gold Glove?

00:30:04
Speaker 3: Was a finalist, he was close to a finalist.

00:30:07
Speaker 5: He might have won it, But I mean, rest listen, he's got you can cover some ground and all that kind of stuff, but you have it in Johann Rojas.

00:30:14
Speaker 8: Mm hmm.

00:30:16
Speaker 3: I mean this upside offensively a little bit higher than Rojas is perhaps, but I don't know.

00:30:21
Speaker 5: I don't think that moves a needle for a guy like Boem and I just don't think it's you know again, if you're gonna move bow Man, you better get awfully better in some area. And I don't think you're getting awfully better in one area here.

00:30:34
Speaker 2: How about this one? This is a little off the wall in my opinion.

00:30:37
Speaker 1: This is from PSU beat Mafia on X Lucas Gioledo for Alec Boom. Lucas is Lucas hasn't bitch. I don't know what his health situation is, like, you know, yeah, that'd be that'd be a really ballsy trade for the Phillies if they you know, I'm.

00:30:57
Speaker 3: Not I'm not a Geoledo guy. Man. I know it changed. You know, he did a lot of differ things to change himself up.

00:31:02
Speaker 4: But I mean, come on, he had elbow surgery.

00:31:05
Speaker 3: A real commodity. Who's really good for a guy that you don't even know is healthy? Right? Right?

00:31:10
Speaker 2: So Marlins, Marlins?

00:31:12
Speaker 3: Might I might get the worst that might get the worst deal?

00:31:15
Speaker 4: What do they get?

00:31:16
Speaker 3: What do they get?

00:31:20
Speaker 2: Marlins? How about this one? How about this one from the Marlins?

00:31:23
Speaker 1: Dave Dombrowski calls him, because we'll give you Justin Crawford and Starling Cabba. Are you know two of our top five prospects for Sandy al Contra.

00:31:33
Speaker 3: I would do that? Yeah? Would you do that? If you would?

00:31:37
Speaker 2: You would you do that? If you're the Marlins?

00:31:40
Speaker 3: You never know what they're gonna do over there?

00:31:41
Speaker 4: Who knows so well coming back from elbow surgery? How much control does he.

00:31:46
Speaker 3: Have so that you know that, I don't know, sign him with a multi year deal.

00:31:52
Speaker 2: When he's healthy though obviously he's amazing.

00:31:56
Speaker 5: Dude, if he's healthy, I would take Sandy al Contra for Justin Crawford and Starling Cobb. I'm sorry, I would do it. These are these are Crawford's going to be a good player and Tapa's got a chance to.

00:32:07
Speaker 3: Be a good player.

00:32:07
Speaker 5: But their prospects and Sandy al Contra is a renial of Cy Young Award candidate, so you want And you.

00:32:18
Speaker 1: Know, Sandy went into this season with over five years of service time, so he's.

00:32:22
Speaker 3: I think he's signed though, what is oh yea yea.

00:32:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yea yeah, My bad, my bad.

00:32:28
Speaker 1: He sent a five year, fifty six million dollar contract carries him through twenty twenty six with a twenty seven.

00:32:34
Speaker 2: Team options, so he's he's under control for a while.

00:32:36
Speaker 3: I mean, I would do that, man, especially.

00:32:38
Speaker 1: But again, but what with the you know, that's the thing I always tell people when I get you know, people email me Draper Bowls. They say, well, yeah, if you're the Phillies, you would jump at this opportunity to make this trade.

00:32:49
Speaker 2: But if you're the other team, what are you saying? Right right?

00:32:51
Speaker 1: It's you know, the other team can't get hosed. They're not, you know, so that might be a little light, right if you're the mar If you're the Marlins, are you going I need more than beauties in.

00:33:01
Speaker 3: That Beauty's in the eye of the holder. Though, Man, some croft position, you're talking about.

00:33:07
Speaker 5: A center fielder, and you're talking about middle of the diamond players to middle of the diamond players are premium players, and so it's almost like i'mving a catcher in a centerfielder or a catcher. You know, you're talking about a possible shortstop for I don't know how long, and a centerfielder for I don't know how long. I mean he's got yeah, I mean, this is a very interesting framework you talked about framework, Jim, This is an interesting one for me.

00:33:31
Speaker 4: No doubt. And he you know, a contra fits your championship window type what you're looking to do the next couple of.

00:33:39
Speaker 3: Years, no doubt, and you don't.

00:33:41
Speaker 4: Marlins aren't going to win. I think some of the times, like these teams get a little greedy on what they want back, Like maybe the White Sox got greedy on Crochet in July. You know, sometimes getting to two very good ones, you know, do you really want to push it? Try to get third one? All right, that's an intriguing deal for a team like that to me, because of Marlin, it's just not going to win, and you're gonna put You could put two very good young prospects in your system, but like they may, they may want a third. I don't know.

00:34:17
Speaker 1: The last one we'll do is how about this Philly's looking to put the ball in play more this season?

00:34:23
Speaker 2: How about Bryce and Stott? We haven't heard his name mentioned yet. Mick Abel and Jose Alvarado to the padres for Luisa Rise. That's from Mark eighty four on Blue Sky.

00:34:35
Speaker 4: How much control does the Rise have? What's his sons from?

00:34:38
Speaker 2: I think he's a yeah.

00:34:42
Speaker 4: I think he's one year, look look great in the Phillies lineup. He's what kind of what they need?

00:34:51
Speaker 3: You know?

00:34:51
Speaker 2: I don't know.

00:34:52
Speaker 4: I think the Phillies like Stott a lot more than they let on. I think that they see ceiling there and chance to really rebound and improve good defender. I'm just not sure they would do that. And he's got control, I'm not sure they would do that given a lot of those circumstances, even for such a good contact hitter and a good hitter like our eyes would really look good here. I'm not sure they would. I'm not I'd have to really look at that a little more closely.

00:35:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, just for one year. I just don't know. I know it's a win now situation.

00:35:25
Speaker 5: I just I think Scott has a lot more value through the Phillies than it does to another team. And I think you're absolutely right about that, because here's a guy that don't forget now. He was a shortstop for the team that went to the World Series in his rookie year, much like Kevin Stoker did years ago. I mean, but this guy can play in the middle infield. I think he's going to be a better hitter. I don't think he's going to be a Luisa Rise eventually, but I think he's going to get close to that at some point.

00:35:51
Speaker 3: And they have him under control for several more years. So I don't know that.

00:35:55
Speaker 5: I mean, it's an interesting idea, but I don't know if it's the right thing for the Phillies today.

00:36:00
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:36:01
Speaker 1: All right, so we we went over a bunch of them. There's a lot more, but we we're not gonna we can't go over trade proposal. Rubenes one stick out to you. We had Philly Basement on X did Boham Roja, Seth Johnson mcgable for Croshane Robert Jr. We had the M D D c on X did Hellsley Brandon, Donovan Johnson, Dante Nori, Devin saltabon player to be named. We had the Ian Shawn Bluesky did Justin Crawford and Starling Cobbra, the Marlins for Sandey all Contra.

00:36:30
Speaker 2: Is anyone I'm missing that you liked?

00:36:32
Speaker 5: So I'll start with the one the Marlins justin Crawford and Starland Cobba for Sandy al Contra.

00:36:38
Speaker 3: That's certainly in the running, okay.

00:36:40
Speaker 5: The one that's in the running for me is Alec Bohm for George Kirby and and Logan Gilbert. That's that's number two for me, okay, in the in the running, in the running, got it. And I think that there was another deal that was sort of interesting, but there was.

00:37:02
Speaker 2: Devin Williams was a bone for Devin Williams or.

00:37:05
Speaker 5: It was a bone for Williams that was intriguing as well. So those are the top three for me, and then ultimately I probably will go to the Marlins justin Crawford and start on Comma for Sandy al Contra.

00:37:17
Speaker 3: All right, the one for me. I love starting pitching, baby, you know that, I know, I know this. The four races. Let's go.

00:37:25
Speaker 4: Sandiel Contra would love to come to Philadelphia. My recollection is he always loses one nothing to the Phillies.

00:37:30
Speaker 5: Correct, and he's he's sick of the red October stuff.

00:37:33
Speaker 3: He's sick of it. You know, he'd rather have it on.

00:37:35
Speaker 2: His side, no doubt about it.

00:37:38
Speaker 3: I just I just.

00:37:38
Speaker 5: Think that he, uh, he sort of fits the bill for making this team significantly better and gives this team the kind of starting pitching depth.

00:37:49
Speaker 3: That can get him really push him over.

00:37:52
Speaker 5: It gives a strength it you know it also if he if indeed he's healthy, I mean, it takes a lot of heat off of guy like al excuse me, Aaron Nola, you know you don't know whether these guys are going to be healthy another year. I mean, I just love the depth of get another guy like Sandy al Contra, man, let's go.

00:38:13
Speaker 1: That would be fun, man. And then you have Andrew Painter maybe coming up.

00:38:17
Speaker 3: There were.

00:38:19
Speaker 4: There were double a little bit, but there were a lot of good ideas.

00:38:22
Speaker 3: Good frameworks. Yeah, it's good stuff.

00:38:24
Speaker 2: Good frameworks.

00:38:25
Speaker 3: I like that.

00:38:26
Speaker 1: But it's a great baseball buzz round the framework of a deal. You know, we had a good framework of a deal laid out.

00:38:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks everybody for sending those in. That's kind of cool. It's good.

00:38:35
Speaker 8: Wouldn't it be something if Dave Dombrowski somebody sent him some of these trade proposals and then they make one of these trades. He's like, you know what made me think? They call up the Marlins. I was listening to this little show called The Philly Show, and.

00:38:51
Speaker 2: This guy Ian Shaw threw out this idea. I said, you know what, what the hell, why not? I'm gonna call him and.

00:38:57
Speaker 3: Ask him nice going in yourself a T shirt.

00:39:01
Speaker 1: You get yourself a Philly Show T shirt, and we'll reach out to you and make that happen. So that was fun, guys, that was I think that was a good exercise. Maybe the Phillies will actually make a real trade, not a hypothetical theoretical trade in the coming weeks that we'll that we'll be able to chat about and dig in and dissect. So and we'll be at the Winter Meetings next week, so we'll get together and we'll be uh we'll have some shows for you.

00:39:23
Speaker 4: From to Todd and I will be together. Reuben will be uh hawking up.

00:39:28
Speaker 1: We'll be behind the velvet rope waving at Ruben while he's on the air.

00:39:33
Speaker 3: Maybe I'll have you guys come up as a guest. Maybe there we go, There we go.

00:39:40
Speaker 2: That would be amazing, that would be fun. That was great.

00:39:42
Speaker 1: Guys had a good good time, And we'll see everybody next week.
