<v Speaker 1>It's the Lapsed Fan Wrestling Podcast with Jack and carn <v Speaker 1>s e O and JP Sorrow. <v Speaker 2>He's a lapsed fan and all my years and wrestling, <v Speaker 2>I never seen anything and it's the laps fan name <v Speaker 2>by the one in the ring. Forget about Slado. He <v Speaker 2>the real king of swing when the bell goes in <v Speaker 2>and the kick like me throwing in the corner. But <v Speaker 2>it's lash like stick. <v Speaker 3>Even Jerry King can sake off the crowd nodded in. <v Speaker 4>His head like it. <v Speaker 2>Steve low Brown, would you get low down? <v Speaker 4>Go even high up? <v Speaker 2>Flipp you on your head? <v Speaker 3>But you know cool driver, you speak more now and <v Speaker 3>dragon spits fire give you more shock than when head <v Speaker 3>treats higher drop a more truth than the con of <v Speaker 3>sniper unless you would a coconut. <v Speaker 2>Roddy Piper, Jack a JP. <v Speaker 3>He like j y d drop the cupcakes and gold <v Speaker 3>the brain Bob means the best podcast Frost start the <v Speaker 3>close cloud if you all Plassic and Posus. <v Speaker 2>In a lot of ways, it's a new era here <v Speaker 2>at the Lapsed Fan Wrestling Podcast. Not just because we're <v Speaker 2>embarking on a second decade tlf XX if you will, <v Speaker 2>but because we're now coming to you as the best <v Speaker 2>wrestling podcast. Dam we are according to the Sports Podcast <v Speaker 2>Group in the Sports Podcast Awards. And one thing I <v Speaker 2>think we can say about the best wrestling podcast is <v Speaker 2>that we do talk about Bruno. <v Speaker 5>Yeah. Sure. <v Speaker 2>The Colosseum Collection, our ambitious mission to review every WWF <v Speaker 2>Colisseum home video release in order continues to commence, as <v Speaker 2>it did for the first show of two thousand and <v Speaker 2>twenty five, with this Bruno Si Martino, the living legend, <v Speaker 2>And I just can't shake the feeling that it's just <v Speaker 2>such a weird time to come out with this tape. <v Speaker 2>It is, I mean, and when you think about a <v Speaker 2>whole new fan base coming to the table for the <v Speaker 2>rock and wrestling era and the tapes being, you know, <v Speaker 2>a vessel to reach those people with the stars they're <v Speaker 2>becoming familiar with, and now they're doing like an entire <v Speaker 2>tape of a guy that predates all of that, and <v Speaker 2>of course who they had brought back. He was an announcer, <v Speaker 2>and by nineteen eighty five, of course, at Wrestlmania one, <v Speaker 2>he's back in the ring supporting his brother. His son <v Speaker 2>David Sammartino don't know anything about his brother. <v Speaker 5>That'd be weird. If it was his brother and a son. <v Speaker 2>And so yeah, what sixteen seventeen whatever releases it is <v Speaker 2>into the Colisseum catalog where Pek. <v Speaker 5>Actually technically including the pay per views. This is the <v Speaker 5>twenty third tape. <v Speaker 2>The twenty third tape. We're paying tribute to Bruno just <v Speaker 2>in time for him to not only disappear from the <v Speaker 2>World Wrestling Federation, but to become one of the biggest <v Speaker 2>persona non grata under Vince McMahon Junr. That there ever was. <v Speaker 5>It is like, I don't know when this tape was <v Speaker 5>released in regards to when he left the company, but <v Speaker 5>it is odd. And I'll tell you something else about <v Speaker 5>the tape itself. Out of these early ones that we've done, <v Speaker 5>like these eighty five eighty six tapes, this has been <v Speaker 5>this one was a fucking breeze. Yeah, this one was <v Speaker 5>a breeze to watch. Something about it was just like <v Speaker 5>it was just purely enjoyable. It moved fast, and it <v Speaker 5>was like, I was like, this is some of the <v Speaker 5>best stuff they've done so far on a Colosseum tape. Yeah, well, <v Speaker 5>there were maybe the Piper one. Maybe the Piper one <v Speaker 5>also was as good, But other than that, you know <v Speaker 5>these are they're they're rough. A lot of those Colosseum <v Speaker 5>tapes are rough, but this one was just fucking knife <v Speaker 5>through butter. <v Speaker 2>We go back to the seventies and his matches with <v Speaker 2>Nikolai Volkoff and Baron von Roschki, who I hadn't even appreciated, <v Speaker 2>had to run as a title challenger at Madison Square <v Speaker 2>Garden to Bruno, Killikwalski and Ken Petera, all from the <v Speaker 2>seventies before we get into the the mid eighties. Bruno <v Speaker 2>that that found his way back into the mix. <v Speaker 5>And you know what was interesting too, was that when <v Speaker 5>I was watching this, I was like, oh, so we're <v Speaker 5>going to get that fucking cage match that we've already <v Speaker 5>seen from you know that we did on his actual <v Speaker 5>tribute when we watched that the the Boston House Show <v Speaker 5>against Piper against Piper Nope, different match. Yes, I was <v Speaker 5>stunned and thrilled. <v Speaker 2>Yes, that's a huge point because I did think we <v Speaker 2>were going to go over trod ground because of course, <v Speaker 2>when Bruno passed away, we did a three part tribute <v Speaker 2>looking at his life and times, and it kind of <v Speaker 2>laid the groundwork for you know how out of hand <v Speaker 2>our tributes were going to get We'll do five or <v Speaker 2>six of his biggest moments and that'll be in and <v Speaker 2>then his life story ends up under the under the microscope. <v Speaker 2>But so for that purpose, you know that that was <v Speaker 2>years ago obviously, I mean when did Bruno pass It was. <v Speaker 5>Twenty twenty eighteen, yeah, twenty seven. <v Speaker 2>Twenty eighteen, twenty eighteen, yeah. Yeah. So for those who <v Speaker 2>haven't caught the those episodes, which which you should check out, <v Speaker 2>because we ended up going far and wide on why <v Speaker 2>Bruno meant something and what exactly he meant. There will <v Speaker 2>be a little bit of revisiting here, but this is <v Speaker 2>a chance to focus just in on that very awkward <v Speaker 2>return to the WWF after Vince Senior passes away in <v Speaker 2>nineteen eighty four, who, of course Bruno dedicated his life <v Speaker 2>to serving you know, occasional squabbles and defections to Cola <v Speaker 2>Queriani aside Brunosi Martino was there because of Vince McMahon <v Speaker 2>Senior and Vince mcmahonsr. Was there because of Brunos Simmartino, <v Speaker 2>and it was it was a cop pathetic relationship that <v Speaker 2>mad sold out the most important arena in the country, <v Speaker 2>if not the world more times over than any wrestler <v Speaker 2>can never hope to do again, and this tape plays <v Speaker 2>tribute to that era in addition to bringing people up <v Speaker 2>to speed on the stuff he was doing with Piper <v Speaker 2>and Bob Orton kind of kind of fascinating. Bruno gets <v Speaker 2>plugged in after the Hogan Piper feud dies off Postmarsardia one. <v Speaker 2>It's Bruno that Piper tussles with next it is. <v Speaker 5>You know, when you see him. I thought of a <v Speaker 5>lot of things, you know, in regards to the post <v Speaker 5>WrestleMania stuff and whatnot, because it's not only just the <v Speaker 5>Piper thing, but also the fact that as we just saw, <v Speaker 5>as we just saw when we did Saturday's main event, <v Speaker 5>Hogan and Orndorf were supposed to be We're all buddy buddy, <v Speaker 5>and now Orndorf is buddy buddy with Bruno Sammartino. Right. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's like Bruno's crazy gets plugged in for Hogan <v Speaker 2>and we'll get into it. What ends up happening, at <v Speaker 2>least to hear Bruno tell it. Of course, that's a <v Speaker 2>skew perspective, but Bruno tell it. What ends up happening <v Speaker 2>as they you know, expand so quickly and book so <v Speaker 2>many major cities because they're on fire, that there's a <v Speaker 2>lot of towns that Hogan can't service and that need, <v Speaker 2>you know, especially in the East Coast, a draw on top, <v Speaker 2>a babyface, draw on top, and for all intents and purposes, <v Speaker 2>the role Hogan played at that time as far as <v Speaker 2>like the top babyface battling world champion, turning away all <v Speaker 2>the heels. I mean, Bruno made the most sense in <v Speaker 2>markets that were familiar with him. Sure, you know, at <v Speaker 2>Pittsburgh or a Boston or in New York. Of course <v Speaker 2>Bruno's phone is going to ring for that now. Is <v Speaker 2>the fact that his son, David Sammartino is trying to <v Speaker 2>make inroads into the business. That really brought him out <v Speaker 2>of retirement and convinced him to do some some physical <v Speaker 2>things in addition to just announcing. As Jesse Ventura came up, <v Speaker 2>there's no small connection there. We talked when we did <v Speaker 2>the first edited in Knights Made Event, we talked about <v Speaker 2>how that really launched Jesse Ventura as the color commentator extraordinaire, <v Speaker 2>that he would come to be remembered as he was <v Speaker 2>kind of like third string on television doing prime time <v Speaker 2>with Jack Reynolds and he had the wrap down. But <v Speaker 2>it wasn't like, you know, Jesse wasn't the heel voice <v Speaker 2>of WWF broadcasts until Dick ever Saw tapped him to <v Speaker 2>do the first edit to Knight's main event, and the <v Speaker 2>chemistry with Vince was kind of undeniable and we go <v Speaker 2>from there. But prior to that, Bruno Sammartino was the <v Speaker 2>voice next to Vince McMahon for fift tapings for years <v Speaker 2>and years or Pat Patterson. So it was Sammartino coming <v Speaker 2>in to the ring for this run focused and this <v Speaker 2>time I appeared in this tape comes out that allows <v Speaker 2>Jesse to run with the ball as a commentator, right <v Speaker 2>as Jesse, as we talked about it in the Saturday <v Speaker 2>Night's made eventual cycles out of an inn ring career. Remember, <v Speaker 2>in the very beginning of his colored commentary duties for WWF, <v Speaker 2>Jesse was still working the Horn and wrestling Hogan in <v Speaker 2>Minneapolis and still in ring yep. So it's really yeah, <v Speaker 2>it's like two ships passing in the night here Bruno <v Speaker 2>and Jesse's face and we'll hear something or remark Jesse <v Speaker 2>made on a shoot interview one time about that I <v Speaker 2>thought was pretty interesting. But again a chance here as <v Speaker 2>we continue the Colisseum collection to really focus in on <v Speaker 2>that nineteen eighty four to eighty six period really through <v Speaker 2>eighty seven where Bruno Simmartino kind of pops back up <v Speaker 2>again and God damn it, Boss, I mean, he's got <v Speaker 2>an LJN. Think about that. That's insane of all the <v Speaker 2>guys from that generation that you would not put in <v Speaker 2>the short list to get an LJN figure. When the <v Speaker 2>entire look and feel the WWF this is so far <v Speaker 2>away from the WWF that Bruno dominated, so far away <v Speaker 2>from even like the even the consumer proposition of what <v Speaker 2>WWF wrestling was. Yeah, yeah, it was so different than <v Speaker 2>what Bruno sold all that time. <v Speaker 5>It's so true because even watching him work alongside Piper <v Speaker 5>is weird. Like I don't know why it didn't feel weird. <v Speaker 5>I don't recall it feeling weird anyway when we did <v Speaker 5>the Bruno tribute, but this watching him sell and like <v Speaker 5>watching him go through the ropes to the floor, the <v Speaker 5>way he was selling for I was like, he's it's <v Speaker 5>like he's somehow selling in like modern style, and it <v Speaker 5>was weird, and it was like it almost honestly, and <v Speaker 5>probably because we've just gotten you know, I don't know, <v Speaker 5>we've learned more about Bruno since since even his tribute <v Speaker 5>that it didn't feel right what he was doing. It <v Speaker 5>didn't feel it was like he was almost I mean, <v Speaker 5>you know, obviously he should essentially put over the younger blood, <v Speaker 5>but at the same time, it just it felt it <v Speaker 5>diminished his legend. It felt it was it felt like. <v Speaker 2>It did it turned his sort of like stand up <v Speaker 2>for all that's virtuous and just be stronger than the <v Speaker 2>evil guy and turn them away and make him eat shit. <v Speaker 2>It kind of caricatured that a little bit, you know, <v Speaker 2>where he's like on the mic, like because they have <v Speaker 2>the piper's pit that he does mid ring with Rowdy <v Speaker 2>Piper and MSG to get this feud started back in <v Speaker 2>nineteen eighty five, in the Fall of eighty five. <v Speaker 5>Which he also the whole thing. I mean, I don't <v Speaker 5>want to get too much into it until we watch it, <v Speaker 5>but it also felt like he was you know, he <v Speaker 5>he was that that that relative who, yeah, who didn't <v Speaker 5>really understand what he's being, you know, being accused of <v Speaker 5>yep in a weird way. And so his his his <v Speaker 5>comebacks are not good. Like the crowd goes with him <v Speaker 5>because he's Brunos san Martino, but his his comebacks are <v Speaker 5>not they're not good, like you know him him talking <v Speaker 5>about like when Piper talks about his hair, it's like <v Speaker 5>you're losing a little hair on the top there, and <v Speaker 5>he says, no, no, no, I lost a lot of <v Speaker 5>hair up there. But my dad lived in ninety four. <v Speaker 5>And what you're still you're still balding, right, I don't <v Speaker 5>anything against Like how did that? Yeah, how did that <v Speaker 5>insult Piper? Like how did you come back to Piper. <v Speaker 2>By pointing out that you're bald? I didn't mean that <v Speaker 2>you're going to die in two weeks. I meant that <v Speaker 2>you're bald? Right, Yeah, Well, the comeback, the idea of <v Speaker 2>the comeback, verbal comeback is just not really Bruno's bag anyway, <v Speaker 2>That's not his eram. I mean, think about it. You <v Speaker 2>would you would step to the mic ringside and Hamburger, Allentown, <v Speaker 2>and you look into the camera and Vince or whoever <v Speaker 2>would hold the mic, and you'd address your opponent and <v Speaker 2>you'd address what they said last time, and you address <v Speaker 2>how they're gonna yeah exactly, and you'd address how they're <v Speaker 2>gonna you're gonna make them pay on a date upcoming, <v Speaker 2>But you wouldn't be in the same room and frame <v Speaker 2>screaming back and forth with them, which was increasingly becoming <v Speaker 2>the promo style, you know, confrontation as opposed to two <v Speaker 2>guys talking in isolation about each other, which worked beautifully <v Speaker 2>for Bruno. It's not like a, yeah, that was a bug, <v Speaker 2>that was a feature of his era. It is a <v Speaker 2>it is a weird thing too. I've always thought that <v Speaker 2>to be weird like that. One of the hardest rationalizations <v Speaker 2>for me about wrestling in general is the basically, right, <v Speaker 2>the confrontation and kind of unloading your shit on somebody <v Speaker 2>in public with a microphone. It's it's a thing that <v Speaker 2>I just little it's a little contrived if you really <v Speaker 2>step back and think about it. <v Speaker 5>It is because I try to say to myself, Okay, <v Speaker 5>why would they feel the need to like, why would <v Speaker 5>they feel the need as athletes? Like if you're you know, <v Speaker 5>in the inn k fabe, why would you feel the <v Speaker 5>need to confront this person with a microphone in front <v Speaker 5>of an audience, right? <v Speaker 2>And why would you never confront them unless you had <v Speaker 2>a microphone and a live audience. Right, It's like you <v Speaker 2>save everything up until and it's been going on for <v Speaker 2>so many years now that you can almost trick yourself <v Speaker 2>and thinking it makes sense, like these guys want to <v Speaker 2>embarrass the other guys, so they wait until they're a <v Speaker 2>national television Yeah. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, but I mean, like you know, in the past though, <v Speaker 5>like when you talk about the way that they would <v Speaker 5>do these isolated things, they're like, Okay, that makes sense. Actually, <v Speaker 5>I can see because they're being invited to say, they're <v Speaker 5>being covered. They're being covered just like you could approach <v Speaker 5>an athlete or a coach on the sidelines in an <v Speaker 5>NFL games exactly. And even when me and Jane would <v Speaker 5>welcome somebody into onto his his stand. But now when <v Speaker 5>they just come out to cut a promo on somebody, <v Speaker 5>it's very. <v Speaker 2>It's really weird, and it's not going to be to <v Speaker 2>Bruno strength. <v Speaker 5>I mean even honest to God, even when they would <v Speaker 5>do it in the ring, like you know, I mean, <v Speaker 5>I guess you'd do it to him. You're trying to <v Speaker 5>embarrass somebody, cause I'm thinking of Teddy Biassi and Virgil <v Speaker 5>of the ninety one Rumble, Like I remember even thinking <v Speaker 5>as a kid like why has he got a microphone? Right? <v Speaker 5>Like why doesn't he just like why does this need <v Speaker 5>to be public? <v Speaker 2>And it's so amazing because the things you're saying, I <v Speaker 2>think were kind of things that were sticking in the <v Speaker 2>cra of old school fans that we're watching the change <v Speaker 2>of presentation under the rock and wrestling banner. But at <v Speaker 2>the same time today like that's literally why people buy <v Speaker 2>tickets to go to raw. It's not even a sea wrestling. <v Speaker 2>It's to see people artfully talk shit about each other <v Speaker 2>and like make points and and that's culture now too. <v Speaker 2>I mean everything's a rap battle, like no matter what, <v Speaker 2>it doesn't have to be rap. It's any any political debate, <v Speaker 2>any social media back and forth, any anything, any form <v Speaker 2>of confrontation is basically promos. You know, where you're not <v Speaker 2>so much talking to the person, you're talking past the <v Speaker 2>person to an audience that you're trying to convince you're <v Speaker 2>on you're on the right side, or that you know <v Speaker 2>you're wittier or you're smarter, you're tougher, or you're worth <v Speaker 2>investing in. You're the winner, right, roll with the winner. <v Speaker 2>And that's everything now. So it makes a lot of <v Speaker 2>sense that people will show up to essentially see this <v Speaker 2>live version of The Dozens as it used to be called, <v Speaker 2>you know, where you just stand around crack on each other, <v Speaker 2>and definitely not Bruno's world because Brunos I always go <v Speaker 2>back to the lapsed funk. Do you remember what Terry <v Speaker 2>Funk said about Jack Brisco It's like we've lost this. <v Speaker 2>The babyface can be bashful, The baby face can be <v Speaker 2>someone who would rather not go on and on on <v Speaker 2>the microphone. That is a type of baby face that <v Speaker 2>can draw you money, especially when matched against a heel <v Speaker 2>that just won't shut the fuck up right right. <v Speaker 5>And that's the way you want that. You want that. <v Speaker 5>You want the person who can shut the loud mouth. <v Speaker 2>Up absolutely In a time where you know, there was <v Speaker 2>really a bright line for the fans as far as <v Speaker 2>what they considered, you know, abhorrent behavior, and if you <v Speaker 2>cross that line, you could be pretty well sure that <v Speaker 2>people wouldn't support you. They'd want to see you get killed, <v Speaker 2>whereas now they might think you're pretty cool if you <v Speaker 2>you know, linestep that much. But in Bruno's day, man, <v Speaker 2>it wasn't a problem like that guy could be the <v Speaker 2>over the top character, the almost cartoonish threat with the screaming, <v Speaker 2>hollering manager, and he could be the one that just <v Speaker 2>steps in and, you know, calmly and professionally in a <v Speaker 2>suit and tie address is the guy and promises to <v Speaker 2>crush him. You know, he'd talk his shit. But it <v Speaker 2>wasn't It wasn't in a way where you were trying <v Speaker 2>to match wits. It wasn't about wits. It was about, <v Speaker 2>you know, communicating your intentions and strategizing, you know, like <v Speaker 2>what's the way I should be communicating to my opponent <v Speaker 2>across this TV screen to get in his head before <v Speaker 2>the big match. And there's still an element of that today, <v Speaker 2>but it's much more about, like, you know, can you <v Speaker 2>top this witticisms? Which I enjoy. I'm not saying it's <v Speaker 2>a bad thing, but it's definitely not. It's not. It's <v Speaker 2>incongruous to see Bruno in that environment, and I think <v Speaker 2>this tape kind of highlights that because you get half <v Speaker 2>of the tape with him and his fucking at his <v Speaker 2>absolute peak of his powers. I mean, boss, can I <v Speaker 2>I'm sorry, I mean I almost I almost paced the room. <v Speaker 2>I almost paced the room. We just finished, we just <v Speaker 2>got finished talking on the last Coliseum video, the Villains <v Speaker 2>of the Squared circle about how hungry MSG is. Pedro <v Speaker 2>takes over on George Steele. <v Speaker 5>Do you want me to play? <v Speaker 6>Bring it up? <v Speaker 2>Because I don't know if he We don't want to <v Speaker 2>keep him waiting. This is the essence of what we're <v Speaker 2>about to do, so please share early and often. <v Speaker 5>This this is from Okay, This is this from yeah. <v Speaker 2>Just please please, I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt you. <v Speaker 2>Fuck we need it. <v Speaker 5>Yes, this is from the match with Kowalski. Okay, And <v Speaker 5>Kowalski has has already bit Bruno, yes, okay, and Bruno's <v Speaker 5>Bruno fucking ran the razor. <v Speaker 2>He's been lacerated, all right. <v Speaker 5>He is pouring hot and Kowalski like he's basic. Basically, <v Speaker 5>what Bruno's doing is hulking up in his own way, <v Speaker 5>absolut and and Kowalski is hitting him and he's biting <v Speaker 5>him and and Bruno is no selling. <v Speaker 2>And what's amazing here too is Bruno's patience. <v Speaker 5>Okay, yes, Bruno's patience the comeback yep, because he doesn't <v Speaker 5>just go in at him after a few hits. He <v Speaker 5>lets the crowd like boil and simmer and simmer and <v Speaker 5>simmer and simmer to the point where they're they're honest <v Speaker 5>to god, they're like a fucking land mine. <v Speaker 2>Alread talk about you talk about a crowd that's willing <v Speaker 2>to believe. Yeah, listen, but before you play it a <v Speaker 2>nuance too? Is that Kowalski? This is seventy four, the <v Speaker 2>Mattress from nineteen seventy four. He's having a lot of success. <v Speaker 2>It's not like this is Bruno no selling the opening <v Speaker 2>flurry from Kwalski's been beating him down and Bruno's been <v Speaker 2>selling his ass off like he's on the verge of death. <v Speaker 2>And then all of a sudden that one hit. Bruno <v Speaker 2>doesn't flinch. He just decides, you know what, this is <v Speaker 2>my stand. I'm going to make a stand here, and <v Speaker 2>even if I have to convulse my way through the <v Speaker 2>pain and the blood loss, this is going to be <v Speaker 2>the moment that I turned the tides on this guy. <v Speaker 2>And like you said, there's that pregnant pause right before <v Speaker 2>he starts throwing, where the fans are like, oh my god, <v Speaker 2>is he going to come back? And all he has <v Speaker 2>to do is swing for the fences like a punching madman, <v Speaker 2>just like every single blue collar motherfucker in that garden <v Speaker 2>would do if they were confronted with someone they wanted <v Speaker 2>to put in the ground some goddamn polock right right furthermore, <v Speaker 2>and you listen to this and you tell me this <v Speaker 2>isn't pro wrestling, yep. <v Speaker 4>Well, startling back from the bed of the rain, this forehead, <v Speaker 4>Punty by the stairs, up close, Kumoski the crown turn <v Speaker 4>up there? Where are you go? <v Speaker 7>Man? <v Speaker 4>The most you can coiner it up light that putty <v Speaker 4>far out run off up town would have to head <v Speaker 4>who living head as time where you please try. <v Speaker 5>Like like you can't even you can't hear Vince pick <v Speaker 5>Man at all. You cannot hear Vince pick Man at all. <v Speaker 2>And that's the thing. You can hear him fine up <v Speaker 2>until that point. It's not like it's an audio problem <v Speaker 2>with my friend. <v Speaker 5>Right. It is unbelievable. And I keep trying to think <v Speaker 5>like the honestly and and it and it doesn't even <v Speaker 5>come close. But the closest I can think of pop <v Speaker 5>that got that kind of irruption was Linda kicking Vince <v Speaker 5>and the balls at WrestleMania x seven. That was one <v Speaker 5>that one gave me goose bumps. That one gave me goosebumps, <v Speaker 5>but like these give me goosebumps all the fucking time, <v Speaker 5>Like these ones, and these happen all the time when <v Speaker 5>Bruno fights and Bruno comes back. They they they are, <v Speaker 5>there's no they're just hungry, hungry rabbit animals. <v Speaker 2>Rabbit are they have rabbit animals. They are like they're <v Speaker 2>not too far removed from like a nation that's hungry <v Speaker 2>and on the verge of famine, and like a un <v Speaker 2>truck pulls up and just starts throwing food out the back, <v Speaker 2>Like that's how hungry they are for Bruno to get his. <v Speaker 5>They like my dog when I have having fed him <v Speaker 5>in fifteen minutes. <v Speaker 2>Right exactly, like every dog of the planet acts like <v Speaker 2>they'll never see a meal again. Every time you take <v Speaker 2>out a treat or something, yeah, he fucking runs out, <v Speaker 2>like you know, he has a giant bowl. He just <v Speaker 2>ate a giant fucking bowl of food. <v Speaker 5>And this is not a big dog. It's a fucking <v Speaker 5>fifteen pound dog, all right, And and he just ate <v Speaker 5>a whole full bowl of food. But the moment I <v Speaker 5>bring out the chicken that I made for myself, it's <v Speaker 5>like you didn't fucking eat anything. <v Speaker 2>Well, to your point. You know, it's the animal comes <v Speaker 2>out of these people. It could be a dog, could <v Speaker 2>be whatever. And the hung the hawk too, and the hawk. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>and the draws it's another kind of animal. I don't <v Speaker 2>know about draws though, I'll tell you drawing, that's right. <v Speaker 2>I mean, when he goes back on Kowalski, you gotta <v Speaker 2>find this, you gotta find this match. I don't know, <v Speaker 2>I don't know how special it is. And the full <v Speaker 2>catalog of Bruno taking on the latest heel in the garden, <v Speaker 2>but this has got to be at the height. I mean, <v Speaker 2>you can hear it in Vince's voice, and he knows <v Speaker 2>Bruno well by this point, he's been covering him for years, <v Speaker 2>a couple of years in the announced position. At least <v Speaker 2>he knows, he knows the story. He knows this comeback <v Speaker 2>is going to get a huge reaction. But even he <v Speaker 2>feels compelled to say, I've never seen anything like this, <v Speaker 2>because it's not just when Bruno fires back, it's every <v Speaker 2>every punch he lands, they're. <v Speaker 4>Like, go, go, go go. <v Speaker 8>Yeah. <v Speaker 5>That's the thing is like they they didn't just start <v Speaker 5>reacting and let it go. Like every punch and the <v Speaker 5>same thing with Pedro. Every punch caused a reaction, every <v Speaker 5>punch had impact. It's it's it's really crazy. <v Speaker 2>So it really should be no surprise at all that <v Speaker 2>Bruno ended up rather disillusioned with what the WWF had <v Speaker 2>become by the time he returns to the ring in <v Speaker 2>nineteen eighty five, because that's that's that's his point of comparison. Yep, exactly, <v Speaker 2>that's what he thinks of, as you know, the art <v Speaker 2>of the possible in terms of wrestling, if it's presented <v Speaker 2>a certain way. And that's not to say if they <v Speaker 2>presented everything exact same way in ninety five, it would <v Speaker 2>have worked. But you cannot blame Bruno for saying, dude, like, <v Speaker 2>don't tell me anything about how to do a wrestling match, <v Speaker 2>because you know, the passion I brought out of the <v Speaker 2>fans and the sellouts that that generated unimpeachable. You cannot <v Speaker 2>find any fault with it. Yep, agreed, unbelievable stuff. And <v Speaker 2>so it's so weird that at this point in the <v Speaker 2>WWF's journey we get a meditation on Bruno. <v Speaker 5>So weird, Yeah, it is, it's so I mean, because <v Speaker 5>not only that, you know, it's it's a it's a <v Speaker 5>massive celebration and I really I I really feel like two, <v Speaker 5>it's like this is one of the first times we've <v Speaker 5>seen this much of a match, Like I think, I <v Speaker 5>can't imagine. I can't think of another time. Maybe the <v Speaker 5>Andre tape, but they you know, these early Colosseum tapes, <v Speaker 5>they don't have a lot of the matches that happened, right, <v Speaker 5>it's all very very tight clips and a lot of <v Speaker 5>these are are you know, they have they're trim then <v Speaker 5>you cut ahead and stuff like that. But it's this <v Speaker 5>is the most complete thing, like almost like it's like why, why, <v Speaker 5>why he's gone? I imagine he wasn't he didn't just <v Speaker 5>kind of get frustrated then leave. I imagine he get <v Speaker 5>frustrated for quite a bit and then said, you know, <v Speaker 5>fuck this, Yeah we'll get the whole story and he left. <v Speaker 5>Because it's just is flabbergasting to me that they would <v Speaker 5>do this, this so solid of a tribute to him. <v Speaker 5>The moment he's on his way. <v Speaker 2>Out, it's almost like having a coliseum video treatment. And <v Speaker 2>we saw with Albano it's like your last step on <v Speaker 2>the way out the door. <v Speaker 5>Because it's like or you're first with like Steamboat. <v Speaker 2>Or your first Yeah, I mean Steamboat of course would <v Speaker 2>be around and have his biggest moments after his tape <v Speaker 2>came out. That's true, But it just seems like there's <v Speaker 2>like a they were gonna do one for junk Yard <v Speaker 2>Dog that never materialized, Yeah, because he got his Yeah, <v Speaker 2>his kid. It's about the time. <v Speaker 7>It was. <v Speaker 2>It wasn't about this is gonna be a good tape. <v Speaker 2>It was about who's the most over person that'll sellotape, <v Speaker 2>you know, and even Piper, like Piper of course was <v Speaker 2>still with the company for a while, but when they <v Speaker 2>came out with that Roddy Piper tape, they were not <v Speaker 2>expecting a Piper that post refusing to new business with Hogan. <v Speaker 2>You know, is is kind of defined way down the card, <v Speaker 2>not way down, but you know what I mean, Like <v Speaker 2>he's tussling with Orndorf and and Bruno and and pretty <v Speaker 2>soon and by eighty six he's just doing the mister <v Speaker 2>t retread. It's just not He's not the Piper that <v Speaker 2>I think compelled them to do a tribute video anymore. <v Speaker 2>The time the tape hits the shelves, he's a he's <v Speaker 2>in a different position, and it's the same thing here. <v Speaker 2>I mean Bruneau is just like he's an afterthought by <v Speaker 2>the time this tape comes out because there's trouble in Paradise. <v Speaker 2>So it's him in the studio with Mean Jan just <v Speaker 2>like Mean Jean was in the studio with Bobby Heenan <v Speaker 2>and Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy for the <v Speaker 2>Villains of the Squared Circle tape that we did last time. <v Speaker 2>And it's Gene just at his most Like I don't <v Speaker 2>know what's the word I'm looking for. He's not trying <v Speaker 2>to be cute, he's not trying to be ironic, he's <v Speaker 2>not trying to do wink wink or anything like that. <v Speaker 2>He's just genuine and just. He does a great job <v Speaker 2>kind of serenading Bruneau and letting Bruneau tell his you know, <v Speaker 2>speaks truth. <v Speaker 5>I guess you could say I would agree. I think <v Speaker 5>it's a it's a pretty it's a mellow mean Gene. Hello. <v Speaker 2>He's not he's not up on his you know shit <v Speaker 2>doing all of his you know, he's entergy. <v Speaker 5>He's got energy, for sure, but it's not it's not <v Speaker 5>the mean Gene that you know pisses everybody off with <v Speaker 5>his fucking idiotic uh one line. <v Speaker 2>Quips, yeah, quips, and his references to things that only <v Speaker 2>people behind the camera are gonna pop, right right he's <v Speaker 2>talking about but he's. <v Speaker 5>Trying to pop exactly. He's fucking like in making weird, <v Speaker 5>fucking statements that like he almost thinks they're smart, but <v Speaker 5>they're really not. <v Speaker 2>Like what he says long Green to a eight year <v Speaker 2>old like you knows about it. <v Speaker 5>It's just like long green. <v Speaker 2>It's called money. Kid, will understand the word coffers. Even <v Speaker 2>a coffer is your dumb ass? You give me a <v Speaker 2>flight favor and just play the clip again? Please? <v Speaker 5>Oh yeah, absolutely, well I starting back an. <v Speaker 4>It's farhead funny, but put a well cut up there? <v Speaker 4>Why are you a man as you can cutting up? <v Speaker 4>What it for? Put on not knease? <v Speaker 5>Jesus Christ? <v Speaker 4>Who wait? I got quit? <v Speaker 2>Could you imagine how it must feel to be Bruno <v Speaker 2>in a moment like that? Oh God, to have the <v Speaker 2>people like will you to do something like that and <v Speaker 2>like be the wind at your sails? <v Speaker 5>I really don't. <v Speaker 2>I don't. <v Speaker 5>I can I cannot imagine. I cannot imagine. <v Speaker 2>You can never come off that high like that's you're <v Speaker 2>gonna chase that for the rest of your life. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>because it's just like you are. This building is full <v Speaker 2>of twenty thousand people, and all of their energy, for <v Speaker 2>the most part, is directed towards the next thing you do, <v Speaker 2>like trying to will it into existence. And that happened <v Speaker 2>every month for him. Oh my God, Jesus. I mean, <v Speaker 2>that's if you ask me, that's the move I could <v Speaker 2>be alive at any time as a wrestling fan. You know, <v Speaker 2>it's it's honestly going to see Bruno in the garden <v Speaker 2>on the regular against all the great heels in the business. <v Speaker 2>I would have seen them all, yep, you know, yep, yep. <v Speaker 2>This tape is testament to that as well, because they <v Speaker 2>all came through and you would also see you know, <v Speaker 2>Dusty and you'd see Billy Graham, and you'd see Brick <v Speaker 2>Flair and Teddy b Assi and Kurt Heading and all <v Speaker 2>these guys way before they were you know, WWF Superstars. <v Speaker 7>Right. <v Speaker 2>What a wonderful time. You can get Florida TV in <v Speaker 2>New York at the time as well, Graham stuff. If <v Speaker 2>you had cable here comes TBS. I guess Atlanta would <v Speaker 2>be a better place to live because that was the <v Speaker 2>city that got the most wrestling promotions accessible via television <v Speaker 2>for whatever reason. But my god, I mean, that's just <v Speaker 2>that's why we're still here, is because wrestling is capable <v Speaker 2>of doing that to people, right, and that's what that's <v Speaker 2>that's what I want right there. <v Speaker 1>Fan wrestling podcast, Yeah, the wrestling podcast that knows the <v Speaker 1>boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. He's a <v Speaker 1>lapsed fan wrestling podcast with Jack and Carnacio and JP <v Speaker 1>Sorrow the Hunger. <v Speaker 2>I mean, we've talked about it. We talked about it <v Speaker 2>at nauseum in the Bruno tribute episode. But the man, <v Speaker 2>the man brings a simplistic righteous violence. Yes, that is <v Speaker 2>at the heart of any pro wrestling that's worth a shit. <v Speaker 2>I think you'd agree, oh, one hundred and ten percent. <v Speaker 5>I mean that that's what it is. That's what it <v Speaker 5>should be. It should be, you know, there should be <v Speaker 5>a reason for the violin. Someone needs to you know, <v Speaker 5>I mean, listen, every now and again, you've got you <v Speaker 5>have somebody who breaks the formula, and that's and that's <v Speaker 5>also needed to just kind of add flavor to it all. <v Speaker 5>But at the heart of it, it's a simple formula <v Speaker 5>that will work if done right. <v Speaker 2>A simple formula where the babyface isn't violent by nature, <v Speaker 2>the babyface is brought to violence because that's the only <v Speaker 2>thing that will stop injustice from reigning. That's the only <v Speaker 2>thing that will stop like, you know, a set of <v Speaker 2>circumstances to settle into into being that just are wrong. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>and they're fighting against that. They're fighting against people getting <v Speaker 2>rewarded for cheating, getting rewarded for corner cutting, getting rewarded <v Speaker 2>for duplicity, getting rewarded for you know, any any of <v Speaker 2>the characteristics that, no matter what kind of success it <v Speaker 2>might bring you at the highest levels of business and <v Speaker 2>politics in your personal life, if anybody acted like that, <v Speaker 2>you would want to see them get theirs all day <v Speaker 2>and night, and you would just relish the day that <v Speaker 2>that happened. And Bruno brought that to the people. And <v Speaker 2>this tape is one of many exhibits in that regard. <v Speaker 2>So let's check in on where the Colisseum video things <v Speaker 2>stood at the time. We've been doing this throughout the <v Speaker 2>course of the Colisseum collection. You know, how was the <v Speaker 2>press covering the home video market and WWF's place in it. <v Speaker 2>So this was in the Toronto Star in May tenth <v Speaker 2>nineteen eighty six, around the time the tape came out. <v Speaker 2>Wrestling Megafad is creating an abundance of specialized videos for <v Speaker 2>true connoisseurs. <v Speaker 5>Yes, that's true. <v Speaker 2>I'll give this one to you, bosson convey to the <v Speaker 2>Solar System. This is by a columnist by the name <v Speaker 2>of Gerald Levitch, and it's it's just quaint to think <v Speaker 2>about a newspaper devoting columnages to the home video marketing, <v Speaker 2>of course, like it's something of general interest. I mean, <v Speaker 2>that's that's what we miss, right. Yes, isn't just having <v Speaker 2>the video renting the video, It's it's a it's a <v Speaker 2>media culture set up to try to entice you to <v Speaker 2>rent the video and all of the media collateral that <v Speaker 2>creates and the hype cycles that it brings. <v Speaker 5>Oh my god, I'm reading the fucking first paragraph. This <v Speaker 5>is nuts. <v Speaker 2>Let's check in on the state of wrestling on VHS. <v Speaker 5>I need to get into the frame of mind, the <v Speaker 5>right frame of mind for this week's column. I'll just <v Speaker 5>pad over to the typewriter in my Killer Bees slipper <v Speaker 5>socks while wearing my magnificent Morocco bath robe over my <v Speaker 5>Ricky the Dragon Steamboat pajamas. Ricky, by the way, spelled <v Speaker 5>with an I e. <v Speaker 2>Brother Not why what dude, Ricky dozen what Ricky? The <v Speaker 2>doze and steamboat. <v Speaker 5>That's it, the doze and the dozer right there it is. First, <v Speaker 5>I check the time on my Rowdy Roddy Piper wristwatch <v Speaker 5>and the date on my World Wrestling Entertainment See calendar. <v Speaker 5>It would be nice to have another tea in my <v Speaker 5>Andre the Giant mug. And I'm tempted to procrastinate. This <v Speaker 5>guy's a nerd. <v Speaker 2>I think he's trying to make a point about how <v Speaker 2>how much licensing is happening in the wrestling business. <v Speaker 5>But like, I just picture the guy having all this <v Speaker 5>shit too, and it's like, like, what are you a <v Speaker 5>fucking merchandise catalog. <v Speaker 2>It's like a mannequin in the fucking warehouse in Stamford exactly. <v Speaker 5>Besides, there are so many other things to do. I <v Speaker 5>could doze off in my King Kong Bundy slumber bag. <v Speaker 5>I wouldn't want to do that at all, or stretch <v Speaker 5>out on my Wendy Richter beach towel. I could wear <v Speaker 5>my Mister Fuji sandals and my British Bulldog's backpack, carry <v Speaker 5>my Tito send Tan a lunch box and light my <v Speaker 5>path with a hulkster flashlight. <v Speaker 2>If sad latito lunch box. <v Speaker 5>Hey you got enchiladas in there. Enchiladas are very good. <v Speaker 2>Does it come with lunch? I sh that is a <v Speaker 2>box lunch and the I do encourage listeners of the <v Speaker 2>podcast to take a moment and consider the words boxed <v Speaker 2>lunch coming out of Jesse's mouth and how much texture <v Speaker 2>he gives to the phrase. <v Speaker 5>I would just like to know that also too. I'd <v Speaker 5>like to point out that, as you pointed out to <v Speaker 5>me earlier today, that Jesse knows that I'm right. <v Speaker 2>Oh. I can't wait to get to that one. <v Speaker 5>All right, Jesse knows that I am right, and if <v Speaker 5>I were to get lost, I could call for help <v Speaker 5>with my official WWE walkie talkie. For those of you <v Speaker 5>not confined to an Albanian prison cell for the past <v Speaker 5>twelve months, brother, what do you mean is that like <v Speaker 5>a Albanian dude? What like Albano brother, Loulbanian louis Albanian prison? <v Speaker 2>What's going on? <v Speaker 5>Dude? <v Speaker 2>Why I'm reading this thing? <v Speaker 5>It's called all this merch brother, It's like he's hawking' <v Speaker 5>merch brother, Like I don't remember selling this shit, and <v Speaker 5>all of a sudden he's selling it for me. Who's <v Speaker 5>this guy? <v Speaker 6>Dude? <v Speaker 5>Where's he take? <v Speaker 2>My merch from? <v Speaker 5>Professional wrestling has exploded into a megafad mega powers. <v Speaker 2>Everything's a problem. <v Speaker 5>This article is a complete problem, all right for whole Cogan. <v Speaker 5>The increasingly rich folks behind this fad are the Gang <v Speaker 5>of the at the WWE, and they're licensed to the <v Speaker 5>hilt copyright protected wrestling stars cop what'll have? Where my rights? <v Speaker 2>Brother? <v Speaker 5>Who has my rights? <v Speaker 2>Dude? <v Speaker 5>Marvel comics exactly. The action started in the arenas and TV, <v Speaker 5>then expanded to Saturday morning cartoons and video cassettes and <v Speaker 5>super Nova like events such as wrestle Mania two. Pretty <v Speaker 5>Soon the fad mushroomed into wrestling dolls. Oh man, that one. <v Speaker 2>We're never going to escape that one. <v Speaker 5>It just it just yeah, I mean it just really it. Actually, <v Speaker 5>what it does is it reminds you of what people <v Speaker 5>actually thought of you as a kid. <v Speaker 2>Exactly. You're playing with dolls, exactly, okay, wrestling doll your dolls. <v Speaker 2>I was like, I was always like, why. <v Speaker 5>Would you call them? My grandmother used to do that <v Speaker 5>all the time. That the one who would buy me <v Speaker 5>the dolls, and I'm like, oh, they're they're figures, okay, <v Speaker 5>their action figures. <v Speaker 2>Can't forget them. We've talked about this under the cinemat <v Speaker 2>g I Joe, right, yep, oh yeah, it really wasn't <v Speaker 2>such a thing too, like the seventies and even then <v Speaker 2>they look like barbies those that actually that that was it, <v Speaker 2>like yeah, well sixties actually sixties was when it's all changed. <v Speaker 2>But I mean that was That's what was so fascinating <v Speaker 2>to me about when I was when I was researching <v Speaker 2>that stuff like this is this is incredible shit, Like <v Speaker 2>I really I'd never because we lived with action figures <v Speaker 2>as being a common word, and I had no idea <v Speaker 2>that it in a way, not in a way, but <v Speaker 2>it had to be invented, and that it was invented <v Speaker 2>as a marketing thing to advertise dolls for boys. Exactly. <v Speaker 2>It was like a wild It was an extension of <v Speaker 2>the market. So if you grew up in the forties <v Speaker 2>or the fifties or even the sixties, and you know <v Speaker 2>the every boy played with you know, toy guns or <v Speaker 2>toy cars. <v Speaker 5>Or toycking red writer rifle. <v Speaker 2>Right, so you would only associate boys toys with things <v Speaker 2>like that with items you wouldn't associate them with replicas <v Speaker 2>of human beings. Those were for girls. Those were dolls, <v Speaker 2>and so yeah, you know, naturally it's just dolls for boys. <v Speaker 2>That's how they would look at them. Oh, it's unreal. <v Speaker 5>And other toys and weekly posters in the newspapers. Weekly <v Speaker 5>posters the newspapers do they do that like in regular <v Speaker 5>newspapers they would have they came out every week that <v Speaker 5>have fucking here's your this week's wrestler to put up <v Speaker 5>on your wall and stunning black and white on our <v Speaker 5>newspaper paper. <v Speaker 2>Yes, this isn't exactly your European centerfold here. I don't <v Speaker 2>know what what papers are buying. <v Speaker 5>Uh. And of course more wrestling videos the latest series <v Speaker 5>of releases. There's even the ww's Amazing Managers Colseum video <v Speaker 5>w f O one one. This is worth catching for <v Speaker 5>some nice footage of Andre the Giant getting bashed real <v Speaker 5>good by King Kong Bundy, who sneaks up on him <v Speaker 5>from behind while Big John studholds, what do you. <v Speaker 6>What I mean? <v Speaker 2>Dude? That's one that's that's a little too much brother, <v Speaker 2>You're like brushing off my concerns and then I read <v Speaker 2>two paragraphs downtown literally literally coming up from behind. <v Speaker 5>Brother, we gotta get this guy's arrested. <v Speaker 2>And that kind of a phrase is highly suspicious. <v Speaker 5>Brother, I wanted to this guy. I feel like this <v Speaker 5>guy's right in my house. <v Speaker 2>This amounts to propaganda, like. <v Speaker 5>This guy's this guy is saying in this article word <v Speaker 5>for word, Brother, he's saying, Oh, Higan needs to get <v Speaker 5>pinned from. <v Speaker 2>Behind, Terry. Why don't you just you know, in case <v Speaker 2>the officer doesn't appreciate where you're trying to tell him, <v Speaker 2>why don't you read exactly what the offending passage is? <v Speaker 5>Well, I mean shots from the beginning, brother, because the <v Speaker 5>whole fun Oh now you don't have to do that, <v Speaker 5>just just the phrase that put it over. This is <v Speaker 5>the one brother that really kind of you know how <v Speaker 5>things going on in my mind. Dude, you're kind of <v Speaker 5>like ringing those bells. Brother, Really the red flags are <v Speaker 5>of popping up right, you know this he says this, Brother, <v Speaker 5>this is a quote. Dude, I want to say, this <v Speaker 5>is a quote. This is worth catching for catching number one? Brother, <v Speaker 5>who's the catching? <v Speaker 2>Except right, do you know what catch means? <v Speaker 6>In my world? <v Speaker 2>Office? <v Speaker 5>Like we're talking about a guy who who's trying to <v Speaker 5>put a hold on me, brother, and I can't get <v Speaker 5>out of it? <v Speaker 2>And like what where where am I supposed to go <v Speaker 2>with that? <v Speaker 7>Oh? <v Speaker 2>About this is? <v Speaker 4>This is? <v Speaker 2>This is somebody who's trying to put a hold on me, brother, <v Speaker 2>and I cannot and I can't get it? <v Speaker 5>Like what? <v Speaker 1>Like what? <v Speaker 2>He says? Awesome? <v Speaker 5>All right, this is worth catching for some nice footage, dude. <v Speaker 5>So not only is he not only is he easy <v Speaker 5>trying to put a hold on Hulk Hogan, but he's <v Speaker 5>also trying to videotape it, dude, which he's trying to <v Speaker 5>put this on television. <v Speaker 2>Bro, Which is what I've worried about my whole life. <v Speaker 2>And now you're telling me I'm making it up. But <v Speaker 2>I see all the elements here, I brother, It's all here. <v Speaker 5>He says. This is worth catching for some nice footage <v Speaker 5>of honoring the giant getting based real good by King <v Speaker 5>Kong Bunny who seeks up bottom from behind. <v Speaker 2>Brother, Look, dude, what I mean? Come on? <v Speaker 5>Brother? He is saying, Hulk Hogan's waiting for it. Brother, <v Speaker 5>We're gonna get Hulk Hogan. Look, and I want to <v Speaker 5>rally together all you readers, dude, and we're gonna go <v Speaker 5>to his house and we're gonna roll them up from behind, <v Speaker 5>and we're all gonna take turns pin in him and <v Speaker 5>taking his torch. <v Speaker 2>I'm no expert in Canadian law, brother, but that can't <v Speaker 2>be That can't be kosher in this in the Great <v Speaker 2>White North, Dude, I mean, how do you allow your <v Speaker 2>newspapers to prince like that? I mean it's essentially a threat. <v Speaker 5>Brother. We're talking about this is this is like, this <v Speaker 5>is a death threat. Brother. <v Speaker 2>Are you going to bring him in for questioning? Dude, <v Speaker 2>he's threatening death. Dude, Well, you're not gonna bring him <v Speaker 2>in for questioning with that kind of subliminal messaging. Brother <v Speaker 2>to all of Toronto where I just sold out Exhibition <v Speaker 2>Stadium with Paula and Dorf Brother sixty eight thousand fans, dude, <v Speaker 2>are you. <v Speaker 5>Are you listening? Dude? Like you hear what I'm reading <v Speaker 5>to you? <v Speaker 2>Brother, Well, Terry, if you're mister b part of the <v Speaker 2>part of what you need to understand about the way <v Speaker 2>the media works. <v Speaker 5>Here in the Hold on, hold on, brother, Hold on, brother, <v Speaker 5>I want to let me finish it, dude, Because he <v Speaker 5>says this, sak sneaks. <v Speaker 2>Out on him. From behind. Brother, you might as well <v Speaker 2>assert hul Cogan in front of the giant. I understand all. <v Speaker 5>Right, he says, then, brother, Big John Studd holds his feet. <v Speaker 2>That's beyond the pale, officer. I mean, it's simply beyond <v Speaker 2>the pale. <v Speaker 5>Like, what do you expect me to do? <v Speaker 6>Oh? <v Speaker 2>I understand your concern, mister. <v Speaker 5>You want brother, I'm trying to trying to live with <v Speaker 5>the law. Brother, I'm trying to buy the law. But <v Speaker 5>you're telling me right now, dude, that I have to <v Speaker 5>break the law, brother, because my safety. My safety is threatened. <v Speaker 5>That's what you're telling me right now. <v Speaker 6>Brother. <v Speaker 5>You've just said to me, dude, Hulk Hogan, I said, <v Speaker 5>your life's in danger. I can't do anything about it. <v Speaker 5>So you're gonna fucking take things into your own hands, brother, <v Speaker 5>and you're gonna fuck these guys up. <v Speaker 2>Well, mister Buller, to your point about how could we <v Speaker 2>publish something that you know has this kind of subtext <v Speaker 2>to it? <v Speaker 5>You ought to know, brother, it's a subtext, dude, it's <v Speaker 5>right there, brother. <v Speaker 2>You ought to know that. In Canada. You're right. In Canada, <v Speaker 2>we have something called the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the <v Speaker 2>CBC is essentially what we have basically a state owned <v Speaker 2>media and part here in Canada, and so what you <v Speaker 2>read is not just the opinion of the publisher as <v Speaker 2>a private enterprise, but it's also the opinion of the <v Speaker 2>government of Canada in whose jurisdiction you stand right now. <v Speaker 5>Wait are you saying, brother, you're trying to pin me. <v Speaker 2>You're trying to pin charges on me. <v Speaker 5>Brother, Brother, you're trying to pin charge You're trying to <v Speaker 5>pin me my sholds, I'm brother, I'm Who's that? Who <v Speaker 5>the fuck was that? Now? <v Speaker 2>Mister people, what if you'd like to leave the station? <v Speaker 9>Uh? <v Speaker 2>Brother White will leave that window open for you. But <v Speaker 2>not but it isn't. It isn't closed. It isn't open permanently. Okay, <v Speaker 2>it's it may very well close. Uh what do you <v Speaker 2>mean what? I'm just offering you the opportunity? <v Speaker 5>Brother? What opportunity are you talking about? Dude? You're making <v Speaker 5>no goddamn sense. Brother, all I know you are in cahoots. <v Speaker 5>You are in cahoots, brother, with all these people threatening me. Dude, <v Speaker 5>You're a threaten. It's inhumania. Brother, you know that. <v Speaker 7>Dude? <v Speaker 2>Who fuck was that? <v Speaker 5>Oh? <v Speaker 2>That was I was just uh, I was a commissioner. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>not of not of the not of the Toronto Police Department, <v Speaker 2>but in the National Hawk. He likes to swing by <v Speaker 2>every now and then with swinging. <v Speaker 5>What dude, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa Let's dial the <v Speaker 5>ship in brother? It's the world splits open. Brother. <v Speaker 2>As a result of that, It's going to take a <v Speaker 2>couple of decades. From <v Speaker 2>the Toronto Star, Toronto, Toronto. Uh and my all time <v Speaker 2>favorite George's animal Steel shows off his furry pelt and <v Speaker 2>bites the cheek of Nikolai Volkov, who had upset the <v Speaker 2>animal with his off key rendition of the Russian national anthem. <v Speaker 2>If you like gory violence, don't miss w Grudge Matches <v Speaker 2>calls him video WFO one eight there's footage of a <v Speaker 2>historic match from the mid seventies with Grilla Monsoon then <v Speaker 2>weighing in at more than four hundred and twenty pounds, <v Speaker 2>serving as referee in about between Bruno San Martino and <v Speaker 2>Superstar Billy Graham. Thanks to some nasty moves against a <v Speaker 2>steel post and illegal blows with the metal buckle of <v Speaker 2>the title belt, both foreheads were gashed. Yes, you also <v Speaker 2>get a view of Elizabeth the sexy manager for Randy <v Speaker 2>Mautremain Savage in Savage's titled Bout against Hull Cogan in <v Speaker 2>the Best of the w Volume six Colseum video wf <v Speaker 2>O two Oh. She gets dragged into the action by <v Speaker 2>that coward who hides from Hogan behind her glittery lame <v Speaker 2>her glitter glittery lame skirt. Would you call it lame? <v Speaker 2>That's a weird word for I know, and. <v Speaker 5>Of course for those fans of purely science quote quote <v Speaker 5>scientific unquote wrestling. There's an edifying mat between two midgets, <v Speaker 5>Butch Cassidy and the Haiti Kid. Some some lauts, however, <v Speaker 5>spoil it by laughing as if this were some kind <v Speaker 5>of freak show. When a thad gets out of hand, <v Speaker 5>it can attract all sorts of low life unlike us connoisseur. <v Speaker 2>That's a good last line, Gerald, I see what you're <v Speaker 2>doing there. Yeah, I see what you're doing there. So <v Speaker 2>that's how WWF got written about back then. I love it, <v Speaker 2>just a onslaught of smart assery and you know, trying <v Speaker 2>to write about the fact that it's a cultural phenomenon, <v Speaker 2>but not allowing yourself to buy into it at the <v Speaker 2>same time, not allowing you know, you're not legitimizing it <v Speaker 2>by pointing out that everybody's throwing money at WWF to <v Speaker 2>license their products, but here you are having to write <v Speaker 2>about it anyway. He kind of plays both sides nicely. <v Speaker 2>But that's uh, that's a snapshot. And how the coliseum <v Speaker 2>videos were kind of lumped in with all the other <v Speaker 2>things that they were doing at the time to license <v Speaker 2>WWF names and uh and characters. Well, you already made <v Speaker 2>reference to it. We might as well jump in the <v Speaker 2>Royal Rumble live call okay, premium live calls available for <v Speaker 2>your Patreon dollar. One of the highlights for patrons of <v Speaker 2>the year. And you called it when dom Mysterio came <v Speaker 2>into the Rumble. You had your most profound product pronouncement <v Speaker 2>yet about his upside and his ye the day that <v Speaker 2>he is going to what was it main event, WrestleMania <v Speaker 2>or something like. <v Speaker 5>That, He's gonna main event. He's been world champion, He's <v Speaker 5>going to do it all. <v Speaker 2>And listeners scoff as they always do with the Boss Index. <v Speaker 2>But the Jesse himself out of nowhere takes to Twitter <v Speaker 2>and says the exact same thing you said. Yep, I mean, <v Speaker 2>come on, folks. <v Speaker 5>Star power call it saying he's saying that he congratulated, <v Speaker 5>he congratulated the winners of the rumbles, but then said, <v Speaker 5>you know he was rooting for Dom Mysterio and and <v Speaker 5>talked about how he just he says something about how <v Speaker 5>that's true star power, right, and it's true, it's true. <v Speaker 5>List listen, is there nobody going here? There's nobody in <v Speaker 5>the business, okay, And I mean this that captivates the <v Speaker 5>audience as well as Dom Mysterio. <v Speaker 2>Think of his mustache in his hair. <v Speaker 5>Now nobody think about you know, you know everyone you <v Speaker 5>you kind of make fun of him because he's a goofball, <v Speaker 5>because he because he he's still young, he's a coward <v Speaker 5>and he's still young and all that kind of stuff. <v Speaker 5>But when you consider how power the reactions are that <v Speaker 5>he gets, they're more powerful than most things on wrestling <v Speaker 5>right now, all right, he is the best thing to watch. <v Speaker 2>I mean that is a moment of delight whenever we're <v Speaker 2>doing a live call of modern wrestling so you don't <v Speaker 2>have to watch it over on Patreon. When when Dom's <v Speaker 2>face pops up, boss Man becomes a different man, and <v Speaker 2>there's something to be said for that. <v Speaker 5>It's fucking it's magical. <v Speaker 2>So that and so much more of our reactions to <v Speaker 2>this year's Rumble available a hell of a rumble. You know, <v Speaker 2>I was following along there as you're reading that article, <v Speaker 2>and you know, saying World Wrestling Entertainment, and you know, <v Speaker 2>I think about all the different iterations the name has <v Speaker 2>gone through over the years, from Worldwide Wrestling Federation to <v Speaker 2>World Wrestling Federation, to World Wrestling Entertainment to sports entertainment, <v Speaker 2>professional wrestling, what do we call it? They've called it everything. <v Speaker 2>But I realized, particularly watching Triple H do the post <v Speaker 2>show press conference after the Rumble this year. Yeah, I <v Speaker 2>don't know if we realize this, but there is in <v Speaker 2>fact a new set of initials for this company because <v Speaker 2>whenever we hear Paul talk about it, It's not WWE, <v Speaker 2>it's not sports entertainment, it's not professional wrestling. It's something <v Speaker 2>I'm going to call WWD. And do you know what <v Speaker 2>that stands for? It's what he says every time he <v Speaker 2>wants to make reference to the organization. <v Speaker 5>What we do? <v Speaker 2>Ah, I mean pause. You know what you get when <v Speaker 2>you get somebody from the outside world that wants to <v Speaker 2>come in and engage with what we do, someone that's <v Speaker 2>already a fan of what we do. We do and <v Speaker 2>it's hard for the outside I think sometimes to appreciate <v Speaker 2>how what we do resonates across all media platforms. What <v Speaker 2>we do, what we do, the WWD, what we do? Yeah, <v Speaker 2>what is it that you do? Paul? Exactly? Pretend to <v Speaker 2>have a fight? <v Speaker 5>That is it? <v Speaker 2>You know, charge four hundred dollars to watch people do <v Speaker 2>a stunt show? <v Speaker 5>Yea, yeah, the glorified stunt show that with the idiotic <v Speaker 5>costumes for no reason? <v Speaker 2>What is that we do? <v Speaker 5>Is there a reason that you can't call it professional wrestling? <v Speaker 6>Is it what we do? <v Speaker 2>Because what we do? How about because it can't be everything, <v Speaker 2>because if it's everything, it's nothing. So what is it. <v Speaker 2>What is it that you do? <v Speaker 5>Go ahead, I'll wait say it. <v Speaker 2>What he does exactly? <v Speaker 5>You can't say it? <v Speaker 2>Oh, it's everything, it's a little bit. No, no, no, <v Speaker 2>it has to be something. Can't be everything. <v Speaker 5>How about this? Right? Okay? <v Speaker 2>What isn't it? <v Speaker 5>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>Right, go ahead, I'll wait. What isn't it? Because if <v Speaker 2>there's no negative, the thing doesn't exist. If there's not <v Speaker 2>an opposite, Yep, I don't know. I'm just getting really <v Speaker 2>pissed off about that. <v Speaker 6>I don't know. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, you should be what ardiculous? What we do? <v Speaker 2>Know when when you think about what we do, I don't. <v Speaker 5>I actually don't. That's kind of thing, like, you know, <v Speaker 5>outside of us doing our thing, don't think about what <v Speaker 5>you do. <v Speaker 2>I don't. <v Speaker 5>I don't. <v Speaker 2>Like, let's go right now, Like it's so like a dumbass. <v Speaker 2>You know, he's putting together a very entertaining product. I <v Speaker 2>just wish we didn't. It's just like anything he's ever done. <v Speaker 2>Like you, even if you can put quality stuff out there, <v Speaker 2>you have to deal with so much foolishness, so much <v Speaker 2>ego stuff, so much like you know what I mean, <v Speaker 2>so much like insisting on himself, Like I'm gonna be <v Speaker 2>a visionary, and I'm not going to stop until you <v Speaker 2>see me as a visionary or I'm gonna be Rick <v Speaker 2>Flayer or Harley Race put together, and I'm not going <v Speaker 2>to stop Untni't you see me that way, even if <v Speaker 2>you know the fucking bottom falls out on the business. <v Speaker 2>In O two oh three oh four while we play <v Speaker 2>caated to you doing cosplay heel World Champion. <v Speaker 5>But he's also a. <v Speaker 2>Really good wrestler, and he's had great matches in moments, <v Speaker 2>so it's like you have to take the good with <v Speaker 2>the bat with this guy all the time, and I <v Speaker 2>just wish we just stick with the good. But oh <v Speaker 2>my god, he just he talked for like forty minutes <v Speaker 2>after he rumble. <v Speaker 5>Of course he did. He's got a lot to say, <v Speaker 5>you know. I mean, listen, people are interested as to <v Speaker 5>the direction, you know, as to the fallout of the <v Speaker 5>fucking fake rumble. <v Speaker 2>And you hear these reporters asking these questions. They're all <v Speaker 2>from like, you know, like I love Wrestling dot com <v Speaker 2>or whatever, and he's looking at these people that want <v Speaker 2>to ask, you know, the characters questions as much as <v Speaker 2>the wrestlers questions, or at least are willing to accept <v Speaker 2>answers and character as much as they're willing to accept <v Speaker 2>answers in reality. And and he's looking at these people. <v Speaker 5>And saying, you know, the city of Indianapolis has been <v Speaker 5>an amazing partner to us in so many ways. And <v Speaker 5>we really took the SNY over and everyone's. <v Speaker 2>Like, I just what what are you? Who are you <v Speaker 2>talking to? Like this is a room full of people <v Speaker 2>that just want like content. <v Speaker 5>You know, And he's like, it's so ridiculous, and he's <v Speaker 5>doing he's doing it. He's doing a PowerPoint right. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. I had to get that off my chest. <v Speaker 2>I mean, I mean, it's it's it's the w WD <v Speaker 2>Royal rumble available. <v Speaker 5>Now did an did anyone ask him the tough questions? <v Speaker 2>Of course not. No, No, that's all that's way over <v Speaker 2>that whole performative, Like we're opened to ask me anything <v Speaker 2>that they they figured that one out, that's not did <v Speaker 2>their benefit, You're not gonna do anything like that. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>It's almost like it's almost like there's a Chinese wall <v Speaker 2>between Triple H and what was happening on the other <v Speaker 2>side of the wall. Huh how about it? So all <v Speaker 2>that is to say that the Patreon has been absolutely <v Speaker 2>popping in twenty twenty five. I mean, what the fuck? <v Speaker 2>Three live calls already, from the Raw permiere on Netflix <v Speaker 2>to the Saturday Night's main event to Royal Rumble. Of course, <v Speaker 2>we're coming up on WrestleMania that's going to be in <v Speaker 2>live call form this year, as we're going to be <v Speaker 2>where we belong on our asses at our houses watching <v Speaker 2>the thing instead of spending three point five million dollars <v Speaker 2>to get to last Fimians, come on. The prices are <v Speaker 2>like a come on, what an I mean, it's just ridiculous. <v Speaker 2>They have like a thing where like if you want <v Speaker 2>to go to the NXT show before on WrestleMania weekend, <v Speaker 2>you have like an hour to get from that arena <v Speaker 2>to the stadium to watch WrestleMania. Like, how about you <v Speaker 2>just don't do it, You just don't do the NXT thing. <v Speaker 5>Maybe they'll have maybe they'll have like shuttles, oh god, <v Speaker 5>for idiots. <v Speaker 2>Tens of thousands of fans just everywhere. And it's like Vegas, <v Speaker 2>so it's also full of oh no thanks, Eastern Vegas. <v Speaker 5>Vegas is already small as it is, Like I don't <v Speaker 5>think people really realize that, Like I mean, yeah, you <v Speaker 5>could go down to like the old Strip or whatever. <v Speaker 5>But Vegas isn't big. <v Speaker 2>Oh the Strip itself, it's not. It takes you, like, <v Speaker 2>what you know, forty five minutes to walk the whole thing. <v Speaker 5>If that, I mean, it's not big. And even even <v Speaker 5>going to Old Vegas it's like it's still not a <v Speaker 5>big city downtown. And uh, you know, I just there <v Speaker 5>really is there really really is no upside. <v Speaker 2>I just know it all didn't sound like didn't sound <v Speaker 2>like it was. We're gonna be worth it this or not. <v Speaker 2>And I'm with that because you know, Mania should be <v Speaker 2>the ultimate fucking you know, dial in for the weekend <v Speaker 2>and enjoy wrestling instead of like thinking about hotels and <v Speaker 2>flights not that stuff. <v Speaker 6>But we do. <v Speaker 2>We do hear the disappointed cries from some of our <v Speaker 2>West Coast fans and traveling fans to Mania. We're looking <v Speaker 2>forward to seeing us. We will continue to try to <v Speaker 2>think of ways to slot in live shows. Weird co <v Speaker 2>chairs can take advantage of the fact that you're already <v Speaker 2>traveling to wrestling. But for now, I'm feeling really good <v Speaker 2>about the decision. But I will say it's time to <v Speaker 2>be on that live call tip because we're going absolutely <v Speaker 2>fucking nuts with all this stuff. A word ahead of time, <v Speaker 2>as we come up on March, the elimination chamber one <v Speaker 2>will happen, but it'll be a little bit delayed. Usually <v Speaker 2>elimination chamber falls on a disenvidtageous weekend for one or <v Speaker 2>both of us. So that's part for the course. Maybe <v Speaker 2>a day delayed, maybe a little more so. Fair warning there, <v Speaker 2>but still worth jumping on the board, on board the <v Speaker 2>Patreon train. Not only for the live call action that's <v Speaker 2>popping off this year thus far, not only for wrestle mommy, <v Speaker 2>if you're way up in that moat, which we know <v Speaker 2>is not for everybody, but for the people that it's for, <v Speaker 2>it's very much for. Oh yes, but under the cinema. <v Speaker 2>I mean, my god, what have you done? Tell the people? <v Speaker 2>Tell the people what you decided to do to my <v Speaker 2>twenty twenty five? <v Speaker 5>Well, you know, and I'm gonna say this, I had <v Speaker 5>I had plans. I had plans. Okay, I had plans <v Speaker 5>for some kind of stuff that we haven't really gotten <v Speaker 5>to because the Bond journey took a long time and <v Speaker 5>so there wasn't you know, there are things I wanted <v Speaker 5>to get to its more lighthearted, some more fun things, <v Speaker 5>some movies that honestly I wanted to do ages ago, <v Speaker 5>that are on the list that are like gonna come soon, <v Speaker 5>but David Lynch had to go and fucking die. Now, <v Speaker 5>if you listen, if you're if you're already on EP <v Speaker 5>or above, you know you've heard me say this. I'm <v Speaker 5>not I respect David Lynch as a filmmaker, as an artists, <v Speaker 5>as a visionary, a true visionary, but I don't love <v Speaker 5>his movies. I don't love them. But there is something <v Speaker 5>that I do love, and that is Twin Peaks. That <v Speaker 5>is the Twin Peaks TV series. And so what I decided, <v Speaker 5>and I was able to find a number of connections <v Speaker 5>of Twin Peaks, and so Jack and I are going <v Speaker 5>to go through the first season, the first eight episodes <v Speaker 5>of Twin Peaks over the next few weeks. And we <v Speaker 5>started with the pilot, and which was you know, I <v Speaker 5>loved your reaction to it. Your reaction to the pilot <v Speaker 5>was everything that I'd hoped for, because you know, you know, <v Speaker 5>putting you in in in this kind of seat watching <v Speaker 5>this stuff for you know, it doesn't get much. I mean, sure, <v Speaker 5>the characters developed but I mean to be in this <v Speaker 5>exact world. It's not like the Bond movies where each <v Speaker 5>one is one and done. Like we're now, We're not <v Speaker 5>gonna be in this world for for the next few weeks. <v Speaker 5>As we cover. <v Speaker 2>Showing you Terry and Dorry versus Brody and Hanson on <v Speaker 2>the Lapsed Funk, it's like, Oh, I can't wait for <v Speaker 2>him to see this stuff exactly react as expected. But yeah, <v Speaker 2>I mean, look, if you think it's a TV show, <v Speaker 2>it shouldn't count this as cinema. <v Speaker 5>Oh yes, it's such a beautiful show. And uh, honestly, <v Speaker 5>I encourage you to come on the journey because we're <v Speaker 5>gonna we're gonna go through We're gonna go through David <v Speaker 5>Lynch's life, We're gonna talk about him, We're gonna he's <v Speaker 5>already become a fascinating individual, and I'm are I think <v Speaker 5>it's safe to say he's probably one of the top <v Speaker 5>personalities that we've we've encountered under the cinema. <v Speaker 1>The lap Fan wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that knows <v Speaker 1>the boys need their candy, it's the Lapsed Fan. He's <v Speaker 1>a Lapsed Fan wrestling podcast with Jack and Carnacio and <v Speaker 1>JP Soro. <v Speaker 5>You know how I know. <v Speaker 2>I got bit by the bug when halfway through the rumble, <v Speaker 2>John Cena's hair got tousled and I said, look at <v Speaker 2>like David Lynch. <v Speaker 5>So true, Oh my god, So come on board. Honestly, <v Speaker 5>it's going to be a hell of a ride. I <v Speaker 5>love a twin Peaks, one of my all time favorite shows, <v Speaker 5>all time favorite shows with incredible characters. And you know, <v Speaker 5>we get to see honest and I learned watching it <v Speaker 5>the other night with you after starting the research on <v Speaker 5>David Lynch. I saw more of Lynch in the show <v Speaker 5>than I ever thought, than I ever saw before, and <v Speaker 5>I'm so much more excited to see more of that <v Speaker 5>as we go on. <v Speaker 2>I agree. So I agree wholeheartedly. And it's such a <v Speaker 2>good investment of time. If you have any proclivities towards cinema, <v Speaker 2>any if you've ever considered yourself something of a cinophile, <v Speaker 2>or if you're just interested in learning about David Lynch, <v Speaker 2>because that's the thing, you know, be it under the cinemat, <v Speaker 2>be at the main feed here. We can't help but <v Speaker 2>lean in. When the solar systems like go for it, <v Speaker 2>and they were surprised by this. You know they were, <v Speaker 2>because it wasn't like we've talked a lot about David <v Speaker 2>Lynch over the years and none none at all, and <v Speaker 2>the audience had reason to think that we were kind <v Speaker 2>of queuing up a tribute. When you did pass, it <v Speaker 2>was just like, oh my god, they're going in on Lynch. <v Speaker 2>I didn't see that coming. It's something you didn't know <v Speaker 2>you wanted until we deliver it, you know, And that's <v Speaker 2>usually the way it is. So yeah, highest recommendation already. <v Speaker 2>I can tell it's going to be something that really <v Speaker 2>I'm I'm to feel very glad that I got taken <v Speaker 2>on sort of a the white glove treatment through the <v Speaker 2>life and times of this guy who I'm going to <v Speaker 2>be a fan of or at least fascinated by that <v Speaker 2>I never would have taken the time to dig into. <v Speaker 2>Left to my own devices, yees. So that's that's the <v Speaker 2>beauty of it all. So yeah, patreon dot com, slash <v Speaker 2>the lapsed fan, put cake on the table, make the <v Speaker 2>podcast thing something real, Make podcasting something that's worth putting <v Speaker 2>effort into instead of something you just do as a <v Speaker 2>vapid marketing exercise. Further to the point, Patreon's also a <v Speaker 2>great place to interact with other members of the Solar System. <v Speaker 2>What a rich comment stream already under the aforementioned David <v Speaker 2>Lynch episode one. <v Speaker 5>So true, It's so true. I love seeing the comments. <v Speaker 5>I love I love seeing people interact. It's really it's <v Speaker 5>it's glorious so too. I mean, you can see someone <v Speaker 5>who who says one glowing thing, you know, even in <v Speaker 5>regards to the to the rumble call, it's like, you know, <v Speaker 5>we saw someone compliment one match, and then like right <v Speaker 5>below that person someone saying, this fucking match is ridiculously awful. <v Speaker 5>And I love that. I absolutely love that. It's worth <v Speaker 5>it all. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, and it's really great too. Under the pay per views, <v Speaker 2>you know, to see people there or add free versions <v Speaker 2>of this very podcast which you get for your Patreon dollar, <v Speaker 2>to see these fans, the things they pick up on, <v Speaker 2>the holes they fill in for us, the questions they <v Speaker 2>answer for us, the things they point out that we <v Speaker 2>never thought about. A great example is last time we <v Speaker 2>were with you did the nineteen ninety six Royal Rumble, <v Speaker 2>and we were remarking upon how Razor Ramone came to <v Speaker 2>the ring to wrestle at gold Dust with a white <v Speaker 2>leather strap Intercontinental title belt. Yep, and just you know, <v Speaker 2>I remember the Intercontinental title belt having all kinds of <v Speaker 2>different colors going back to even Warrior and stuff. So <v Speaker 2>it wasn't really it did occur to me to think <v Speaker 2>about and to close this loop. But of course someone <v Speaker 2>pointed out, this is after that Jerry Springer thing. Have <v Speaker 2>you ever seen the Jerry Springer thing he did? <v Speaker 5>No, I didn't know what the reference was though. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it came out, particularly when he passed away and <v Speaker 2>people were, you know, trying to come up with things <v Speaker 2>that made him seem like a good guy. They resurfaced <v Speaker 2>a clip of him on the Jerry Springer Show where <v Speaker 2>the guests were a couple of kids who had AIDS <v Speaker 2>or at least one kid who had AIDS and his jury. <v Speaker 2>You know, Jerry was like connecting kids in medical dire <v Speaker 2>medical straits with their their dreams, you know, like a <v Speaker 2>make a Wish deal. And this kid wanted to meet <v Speaker 2>Razor m Own. So Razor comes out with the icy <v Speaker 2>belt in full gear like he's coming to the ring <v Speaker 2>and all the chains and the vest and everything. And <v Speaker 2>by the time he's done interacting with this kid, it <v Speaker 2>really is sweet. I'm not trying to take anything away <v Speaker 2>from it. Yeah, it's just that's why it came back up. <v Speaker 2>Because he passed away, Razor gives him the belt. He <v Speaker 2>just gives the kid the Intercontinental title and when he <v Speaker 2>would tell the story later and shoot interviews and stuff. <v Speaker 2>And I'm pretty sure we touched on this when we <v Speaker 2>did the Scott Hall tribute show years ago after his passing. <v Speaker 2>You know, he pretty much called the office and said, <v Speaker 2>you guys have another belt, right, because I just gave <v Speaker 2>one of this kid. I just gave m out to <v Speaker 2>this kid. So that belt is differently constituted in the <v Speaker 2>Intercontinental title belt we were used to seeing in nineteen <v Speaker 2>ninety five for that reason, because that was that was <v Speaker 2>I believe a December ninety five appearance on Springer or <v Speaker 2>late ninety five. Yeah, So that's the kind of stuff. <v Speaker 7>Man. <v Speaker 2>It's like, you know, as much as we effort to <v Speaker 2>turn over every stone, what really is the mas is <v Speaker 2>that we can count on the solar system and the <v Speaker 2>patrets in particular to fill in those little things we <v Speaker 2>might miss. So collectively it's like Wikipedia, you know, like <v Speaker 2>by the time it's all over, it'll be in there somewhere. <v Speaker 2>It'll be said, it'll be put on the shelf and <v Speaker 2>it will win Best Wrestling Podcast, as we as we <v Speaker 2>did fucking straight our first chance really on the main <v Speaker 2>feed in the formal context where we issued so many <v Speaker 2>entreaties to listeners of the podcast to support us, because, <v Speaker 2>as we said a bunch of times on the Sports <v Speaker 2>Podcast Group Award, we didn't know until we were in <v Speaker 2>the nomination that it was a popularity contest. We were <v Speaker 2>the impression that there was going to be judges, and <v Speaker 2>you know it's going to be But then, of course, <v Speaker 2>like we get through to the finals, which I guess <v Speaker 2>had some degree of screening quality screening to it. <v Speaker 5>I was saying, I guess that that's the weird thing. <v Speaker 5>It's like, it's like, I guess they were they had judges, <v Speaker 5>judge I guess the pre thing or whatever. <v Speaker 2>At least they wanted to have the pretense of that. <v Speaker 2>I don't know if they did or not. You probably <v Speaker 2>just went right, there can pass go. But maybe there <v Speaker 2>are other categories where they had a whole lot more <v Speaker 2>submissions than Best Wrestling, whatever the case may be. By <v Speaker 2>the time it was all said and done, we prove <v Speaker 2>what we've always said, we are small, but we are mighty, <v Speaker 2>and one of our listeners is worth ten thousand listeners <v Speaker 2>of the most popular wrestling podcasts, Hard Stop, Heart Stop, <v Speaker 2>And because they know the difference between audio that's worth <v Speaker 2>paying for and audio that goes in one ear and <v Speaker 2>out the other. And when you can engender that kind <v Speaker 2>of confidence in people that you're going to go to <v Speaker 2>the mat for them when you hit record, then they <v Speaker 2>turn around and they have a chip on their shoulder <v Speaker 2>when it becomes a popularity contest and they say, fuck that, Like, <v Speaker 2>I can't live in a world where something gets gets <v Speaker 2>lionized and held up that isn't to the standard of <v Speaker 2>the thing that I have clearly decided is worth incorporating <v Speaker 2>into my routine forevermore. And we've won the mind share <v Speaker 2>and we won the award not only because you folks <v Speaker 2>are so diligent in voting, but we want it because <v Speaker 2>we deserve it. And long may it continue, boss damn <v Speaker 2>fucking straight. And the competition can rest easy because it's <v Speaker 2>not like we're going to chase this affirmation every year. <v Speaker 2>Point made moving on YEP a lot more exciting things <v Speaker 2>in the pipeline to talk about and pivot to. I <v Speaker 2>imagine quite soon, so Patreon dot com slash the lapsed fan. Also, <v Speaker 2>if you want to wear the support on your sleeve, <v Speaker 2>there's always our Pro Wrestling Tea store and our story <v Speaker 2>is chop tease as well. I mean so much great <v Speaker 2>licensed apparel, merchandise quarks, I mean the T shirt stores <v Speaker 2>rock and what's the latest over there? I don't even <v Speaker 2>remember now. <v Speaker 5>Well, we've got the it was it was suggested at <v Speaker 5>that we do a a nostalgia shirt in the in <v Speaker 5>the the style of the Netflix logo, and so we <v Speaker 5>did that was up and then on the bottom, you know, <v Speaker 5>Netflix logo is what is the what is the slogan? <v Speaker 2>Can't think of it, oh, Netflix's slogan or the WWE <v Speaker 2>the on Netflix. <v Speaker 5>Netflix's slogan is oh Netflix's Netflix's slogan. Netflix's slogan is <v Speaker 5>see What's Next? And so we wrote want What's Gone. <v Speaker 5>That's what nostalgia is, and that's what you get and <v Speaker 5>exactly and also you know it, I'm surprised it didn't <v Speaker 5>didn't dawn on me before. But you know when you <v Speaker 5>see Jesse wearing the Jesse's Retreat shirt and I was like, <v Speaker 5>you know what we called that so long ago? On <v Speaker 5>him when we uh, which I don't even remember. <v Speaker 2>What show that was pointed out the Plato's Retreat shirts. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, it was on I think it was on a <v Speaker 5>Colseum tape too for that matter, probably was. But you know, <v Speaker 5>so we had that Plato's Retreat. So we have a <v Speaker 5>lapsed Retreat shirt, yes, with some some of the logo <v Speaker 5>design and whatever. So there go. Those are the two, <v Speaker 5>the two brand new ones up. Of course, get your <v Speaker 5>you know, support your spouse. Please support your spouse and <v Speaker 5>wear your lapsed wife shirt weet or get them for them. <v Speaker 5>Rather get get a lapsed wife shirt for your wife. <v Speaker 2>I'm sure she'll wear it with pride and the Planto's <v Speaker 2>Retreat shirt. <v Speaker 5>Or use it as a dishrag. Or use it as <v Speaker 5>a dish rag. <v Speaker 2>Right as well? <v Speaker 7>Well? <v Speaker 2>The Planto's Retreat shirt is for the swingers in the audience. <v Speaker 5>So that's. <v Speaker 2>That's all that place was. So yeah, wonderful stuff. The <v Speaker 2>homie Dicky over at the Chopped Tea store bringing it <v Speaker 2>up a level. You know, we're talking hoodies and fanny <v Speaker 2>packs and kind of the kind of higher end merchandise <v Speaker 2>if you really want to dial in your lapsed fandom <v Speaker 2>and really have something quality and lasting. Not to say <v Speaker 2>the T shirts on quality, but we know there's like <v Speaker 2>the T shirt part of the closet, and then there's <v Speaker 2>the the higher end part of the closet and we <v Speaker 2>have and. <v Speaker 5>Then there's also there's also stuff that we can't do <v Speaker 5>absolutely on on on pro wrestling teas and and he <v Speaker 5>can do over at chop Tease. <v Speaker 2>So there's that. You can get your new warld order shirt, <v Speaker 2>right talking about one of the original bits. <v Speaker 5>Exactly, you get you get all the you can get <v Speaker 5>all the the Scott Hall stuff that I was not <v Speaker 5>allowed to do because of his death that we we <v Speaker 5>did basically the it's all it's all Scott Hall Hulk Hogan. <v Speaker 2>Related, right, how they thought of him as the next <v Speaker 2>Hogan maybe. <v Speaker 5>Right in Hulkamania and your Hulk Rules shirt or you <v Speaker 5>can get your Razor Hogan shirt. <v Speaker 8>It's so stupid, really stupid, it really is. <v Speaker 2>You have to really know the inner workings of lapsed <v Speaker 2>Vince's brain to be able to land that plane. But <v Speaker 2>it's there for the taking. And if you find yourself, <v Speaker 2>you know, looking for looking, if you find yourself having <v Speaker 2>a need for a love letter to your significant other, <v Speaker 2>there's always Cameo Cameo dot com slast yeh senday videogram <v Speaker 2>of the boss Man and any number of lapsed character <v Speaker 2>voices serenading your sweetheart this Valentine's Day or for whatever occasion, birthdays, whatever. <v Speaker 5>Absolutely, or just for the shits and giggles for deciding to, <v Speaker 5>you know what, I want to put these characters together. Absolutely, <v Speaker 5>and happens. <v Speaker 2>And there's wonderfully inventive stuff happening on cameo that we <v Speaker 2>can never think of. And our wildest imagination is having <v Speaker 2>authored these characters. So that's kind of an extra quirk <v Speaker 2>for us in it. And yeah, it's all in the <v Speaker 2>spirit of, you know, put something in the jukebox, see <v Speaker 2>what happens. Big Steve Note knows what happens when he <v Speaker 2>puts something to the jukebox. The number four entrant in <v Speaker 2>our thirty men Men's Royal Rumble this year, if you <v Speaker 2>listen to the live call, was Mitsaharami Saua because he <v Speaker 2>commanded us in exchange for a donation. But you can <v Speaker 2>make at any time a digital donation by typing the <v Speaker 2>lapsed fan at gmail dot com into PayPal and shooting <v Speaker 2>us some cash. <v Speaker 6>Do this. <v Speaker 2>I want to hear one of the more heartfelt renditions <v Speaker 2>of Masawa's theme that you've ever done as part of <v Speaker 2>the live call. Because we're drunk and we're listening. Oh <v Speaker 2>my god, did you step. <v Speaker 5>We're waiting. The buzzer goes off for number four, and <v Speaker 5>King King King King King King King King King King <v Speaker 5>King King King King King King King. <v Speaker 2>Let's get it, you know. And then that's the thing too. <v Speaker 2>It reverberates and the main feed the beneficiary as well <v Speaker 2>of that inspired choice from Steve and uh and Jillian. <v Speaker 2>So we appreciate that as always another way to show <v Speaker 2>love and respect. But again, thank you so much for <v Speaker 2>the award and all seriousness it was. It was wonderful <v Speaker 2>to take that one home and to establish dominance, to <v Speaker 2>establish dominant, just to remind and folks like, if we <v Speaker 2>really want to marshal the resources, if we were really <v Speaker 2>want to you know what I mean, fire the engines up, <v Speaker 2>and we're we're nice guys, we're not looking to do <v Speaker 2>that too often, but every now and then, folks need <v Speaker 2>a little reminder that it's ours for the taking. It's <v Speaker 2>ours for the taking in a battle of quality versus quality, <v Speaker 2>and so in that vain we continue with the Coliseum <v Speaker 2>Collection and Bruno San Martino Wrestling's Living Legend. I have <v Speaker 2>to say, this is one I never saw in the <v Speaker 2>video store shelves. <v Speaker 5>No me, neither me neither. <v Speaker 2>I'm trying to look at it. <v Speaker 5>I was Jacket. I remember when when I was when <v Speaker 5>I had found all these on these tape, all these <v Speaker 5>tapes online, I was, I was like, holy shit, this <v Speaker 5>is a Bruno one. That's and I remember thinking because <v Speaker 5>I think I found it maybe within a year after <v Speaker 5>we did our Bruno tribute and I was like, damn, <v Speaker 5>Like too bad we didn't have this at our fingertips here. <v Speaker 2>This would have been a great tool right for his <v Speaker 2>for his tribute. And I'm seeing along what are the <v Speaker 2>stuff that we did? The Jacket had had him, you know, <v Speaker 2>down on one knee locking in a key log. It <v Speaker 2>looks like the mid eighties Bruno because his hair is <v Speaker 2>quite thin. And the picture on the front and it <v Speaker 2>says Wrestling's Living Legend. Burno Simartino, the WWF's longest reigning <v Speaker 2>title holder, WWF Champion for eleven years. Classic Contest Brunovos <v Speaker 2>Killer Kowalski Special in exclusive interview with he says it's <v Speaker 2>thirteen years in the video does he say that, yeah, nice, <v Speaker 2>Bruno's headed, heralded, returned to the mat. It also says, <v Speaker 2>as well as Bruno and Paul mister wonderful Orndorf versus <v Speaker 2>Rowdy Roddy Piper and Cowboy Bob Orton and Moore, the <v Speaker 2>world's most entertaining sport. It proclaims. In the jacket on <v Speaker 2>the back there's a picture of Bruno, but there's also <v Speaker 2>a picture of Piper and Orndorf in case you know <v Speaker 2>the fan at the time is looking for signposts that <v Speaker 2>this is actually a modern wrestling cassette and not just <v Speaker 2>old stuff. Truly in a class by himself. The back <v Speaker 2>of the jacket reads, once Bruno steps on the mat, <v Speaker 2>watch out on Piper's pit. Bruno answers Piper's insults with <v Speaker 2>a champion's grace until provoked into an all out brawl. <v Speaker 2>Rowdy Roddy Piper his ace in the hole when he <v Speaker 2>meets Bruno in the Boston Garden, plus much more. It's <v Speaker 2>a beauty. It's a beauty, but I've never seen it, <v Speaker 2>never saw it. <v Speaker 10>I know. <v Speaker 5>Ever this is and I mean it almost was like <v Speaker 5>a magazine. It looks less like a like a video <v Speaker 5>cover or slip or sleeve or whatever. Yep, you know, <v Speaker 5>like you look at some of the other ones, like <v Speaker 5>you know, any of the best of the WU ones <v Speaker 5>or or any of the other ones, and they look <v Speaker 5>like the video cassettes. But this looks like it looks <v Speaker 5>like a newspaper or magazine. It's very strange. <v Speaker 2>It's laid out in a way that uh, and I'm <v Speaker 2>what I'm happening happening to look at now is not <v Speaker 2>a picture of the actual video box, but kind of <v Speaker 2>like the flatten scanned right like they'd pull it out. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>kind of like a dust jacket on a book would <v Speaker 2>look if you laid it flat. So that kind of <v Speaker 2>makes it look a little funky too. But yeah, it's <v Speaker 2>it's a fascinating deal, and it's a tape that I <v Speaker 2>think not a lot of people know about or remember. <v Speaker 2>So I will turn it over to you, boss. I <v Speaker 2>have just furnished you with a bit of material that's <v Speaker 2>going to help us with our situational awareness. We've talked <v Speaker 2>about Bruno making kind of an oddly time return to <v Speaker 2>the WWF, just as the whole nature of the product <v Speaker 2>was becoming the exact opposite of what he represented. It's <v Speaker 2>just too funny to think Bruno is there when they <v Speaker 2>do the fucking Uncle Elmer wedding and the. <v Speaker 5>Oh I know exactly now, all of that shoot is <v Speaker 5>just way too weird. <v Speaker 2>Slammy Awards and Butcher for Shawn's wedding and the Mother's <v Speaker 2>Day cake throwing that we saw. He's just got to <v Speaker 2>be like, what have I got myself into him? To <v Speaker 2>say nothing of the steroid use going through the fucking <v Speaker 2>roof right in the locker room, and the coke use <v Speaker 2>as well. So it's quite a time to be Bruno. <v Speaker 2>But in the pages of WWF magazine, which has been <v Speaker 2>such a great resource for us throughout the Colosseum collection <v Speaker 2>because a lot of what they try to get across <v Speaker 2>and establish and market in the Colosseum videos, there's usually <v Speaker 2>some accompanying article in the magazine that gives you kind <v Speaker 2>of a sharper idea of how they want to present <v Speaker 2>certain wrestlers, certain business moves they're making. And here is <v Speaker 2>an article that hit the WWF magazine. I believe it's <v Speaker 2>in eighty six, or it's eighty five, Actually it's eighty five. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, that's one that's kind of started about the. <v Speaker 2>Return of Bruno, and they even feature a picture of <v Speaker 2>a guy holding up a sign an MSG and he <v Speaker 2>spelled it Bruno Sam Martino. Yes, but they still put <v Speaker 2>the Bruno Bruno Samuel Martino. But they still put the <v Speaker 2>picture of the magazine. So so let's hear it. How <v Speaker 2>did WWF and or Vince Junior want us to think <v Speaker 2>about Bruno at the time that they obviously greenlit this <v Speaker 2>Colisseum home video release, or if you're. <v Speaker 5>Gene by the way, on the fucking video, Bruno San Martino, <v Speaker 5>It's ridiculous. The Return of Bruno San Martino a by <v Speaker 5>Mighty Mike Kimmel, A capacity crowd of Pennsylvanian's witnessed history <v Speaker 5>in the making. Recently, as the legendary Bruno sam Martino, <v Speaker 5>two time w champion, came out of his self imposed <v Speaker 5>retirement to once again don the tights. Bruno returned to <v Speaker 5>the Matt Wars to act as a tag team partner <v Speaker 5>for son David against the team of mister Wonderful Paul <v Speaker 5>Orndorf and his wrestling manager, Bobby the Brain. Heenan that <v Speaker 5>Bruno and his son should be matched against Orndorf, and <v Speaker 5>Heenan was not by chance. Bruno's decision to re enter <v Speaker 5>the ring was totally related to mister Wonderful and the Brain, or, <v Speaker 5>as his detractors call Heenan, the Weasel. David is a <v Speaker 5>logical opponent before Orndorf one by one on one, the <v Speaker 5>matchup is fairly even, although Orndorf is a more seasoned wrestler. <v Speaker 5>But with Heenan and Ordorf's corner and sometimes illegally in <v Speaker 5>the ring, the odds are very much in his favor. <v Speaker 5>In a match that seems to have precipitated Bruno's return, <v Speaker 5>Heenan from ringside grabbed David's leg and knocked him down <v Speaker 5>so Orndorf could pin him. Bruno from the audience went <v Speaker 5>at Heenan, and in the end Orndorf was disqualified. I <v Speaker 5>don't trust Bobby Heenen at all, Bruno said when explaining <v Speaker 5>his decision. David is a fied wrestler, yes, but he <v Speaker 5>is young and not experienced in coping with and it's <v Speaker 5>kind of trickery, so I thought odd, even the odds <v Speaker 5>a bit Thus is, thus was. <v Speaker 2>Brother? <v Speaker 5>Thus it brother? Thus is was that is what it says, <v Speaker 5>great copy editing. Thus it was that for the first <v Speaker 5>time two men bearing the Sammartino name were partners in <v Speaker 5>the ring. Father and son were impressive as they made <v Speaker 5>their way amid a thundering ovation toward the ring area. David, <v Speaker 5>looking powerful enough to knock over a mountain was the <v Speaker 5>vision of his father, the vision of his famous father <v Speaker 5>as he appeared in nineteen sixty three when he squeezed <v Speaker 5>the title away from nature Boy Buddy Rogers with a backbreaker. <v Speaker 5>As for Bruno, he appeared to have trimmed down since <v Speaker 5>his farewell match with George the Animal Steel some years back. <v Speaker 5>B two time WW champion looked to be in tremendous <v Speaker 5>physical condition after adjusting his traditional power training regimen to <v Speaker 5>include lighter barbell work as well as increased running in <v Speaker 5>cardiovascular extra eyes okay Orndorf and he didn't. <v Speaker 2>For the fuck is set. <v Speaker 5>Put that in lighter barbells and increased cardiovascular internal exercise. <v Speaker 2>Right, write that down internal exercise. David, by the way, <v Speaker 2>a complete nothing, a meatball motherfucker who just said no <v Speaker 2>future in the business. <v Speaker 5>I mean he looked like a meatball. <v Speaker 2>He sho did, and Bruno too by this point, because <v Speaker 2>he's not you know, he's not taken the diuretics and <v Speaker 2>the stuff you need to cut. Like he never was <v Speaker 2>a cut guy, and he's an older guy now. So <v Speaker 2>he's got the Mediterranean man tits, you know, they're there. <v Speaker 5>He does. <v Speaker 2>He looks. It's so funny seeing him in uh, you know, <v Speaker 2>specifically in the in the. <v Speaker 5>The the Piper interview with him, uh, you know, with <v Speaker 5>his fucking polo shirt tucked in and stuff, like, he's like, <v Speaker 5>Jesus Christ, could you could you look more like a <v Speaker 5>fucking Italian grandfathers? I mean, my god, he does. I <v Speaker 5>don't even know how old he was at the time, <v Speaker 5>but like he just he just looks older than I <v Speaker 5>think he actually is. <v Speaker 2>He just looks like a guy that, like you would <v Speaker 2>go into like an Italian grocer or butcher shop or something, <v Speaker 2>and he's in there, but he doesn't work there, but <v Speaker 2>he's just finding out. <v Speaker 5>Right, he's hanging. He's sitting, he's sitting at a chair, <v Speaker 5>you know, you know, with his arms fucking crossed and <v Speaker 5>and you know, and chatting with with with you know, <v Speaker 5>one of the owners of the place and exactly you know, <v Speaker 5>and and getting a couple you know, free slices of <v Speaker 5>pressuot every now and against exactly. Don't buy that crap <v Speaker 5>a good stuff, Come on it. You want the real <v Speaker 5>Mata rally. <v Speaker 7>We have it. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the thing. He like <v Speaker 5>sells this place even though he doesn't work there, you know, <v Speaker 5>just because he's just a proud Italian. <v Speaker 2>He just he can't he can't buy produce unless it's <v Speaker 2>exposed to the son on the sidewalk. <v Speaker 5>Yes, exactly, exactly. You know I see him like I <v Speaker 5>seem occasionally like h like uh like polly walnuts and <v Speaker 5>in in uh the sopranos, like, you know, he goes out, <v Speaker 5>he's outside of the meat market, Satriala's meat market, right, <v Speaker 5>He's got and he's got the fucking uh the silver <v Speaker 5>like tanning thing. You know, you can see Bruno doing that. <v Speaker 5>Oh yeah, I just sit here with a cappuccino. Yeah, <v Speaker 5>you know, I know it's like. <v Speaker 2>It's a little much. <v Speaker 5>Bruno's all right, yeah with the brogues and the tucked <v Speaker 5>in polo. Oh I know that was aday, you know, <v Speaker 5>but like, dude, can't you dress a little more casual? <v Speaker 5>Like why do you why do you have to tuck <v Speaker 5>in everything? I know you're short, you're really short. It <v Speaker 5>just accentuates it, I know, exactly so true, like he <v Speaker 5>looks he looks so tiny. <v Speaker 2>You know, I'm kind of regretful that I never got <v Speaker 2>to interview Bruno and ask him before he passed, did <v Speaker 2>you ever think your son would amount to anything? And oh, yeah, <v Speaker 2>on what grounds? <v Speaker 5>I never thought that. You know, that whole thing is <v Speaker 5>a sad story. And you can say that again, Bruins Bruno. <v Speaker 5>He's also got the fucking the weirdest Italian accent I've <v Speaker 5>ever heard in my life. <v Speaker 2>Know where it comes must be what happens in Pittsburgh. <v Speaker 5>I guess, yeah, maybe maybe you know we did, uh, <v Speaker 5>we have, we have under the cinemat. We've taken a <v Speaker 5>little Pittsburgh turn. <v Speaker 2>With with. <v Speaker 5>Well And I was gonna say, and yeah, we actually <v Speaker 5>spent a lot of time in Pittsburgh the last you know, <v Speaker 5>a couple of months between Not a Living Dead and <v Speaker 5>uh and then the the fucking Sid movie. Wow, you know, <v Speaker 5>it's a little bit of a little bit of that <v Speaker 5>Pittsburgh flavor. And then so maybe maybe that's what it is. <v Speaker 5>Maybe that's what Pittsburgh does to the fucking Italian accent. <v Speaker 5>Martin A. <v Speaker 2>Yah, I work for his father. <v Speaker 11>You can't tell her nothing about the junior I worked <v Speaker 11>for his father. Don't say nothing about that David seathing. <v Speaker 11>Now he's a beautiful boy coming here, and he's some <v Speaker 11>of the sausage for hus. <v Speaker 2>You can't tell where the fur and his sweater begins <v Speaker 2>and his back hair ends. <v Speaker 5>Oh God, Okay, Bruno, Bruno. He spend enough time just <v Speaker 5>considering that word. Just considered Bruno. All right, That's all <v Speaker 5>we talk about is Bruno. He really is like he <v Speaker 5>really is like between between, like just his natural way. <v Speaker 5>And then I don't know, like he's just a he's <v Speaker 5>such a gool. He's kind of goofy. It's especially like <v Speaker 5>the eighties, you know, after it's over, he's just screaming <v Speaker 5>on his glasses on with that fucking nose too, like <v Speaker 5>like that that knows the rolling hills of his nose, <v Speaker 5>you know, Jesus God love him. Orf and Heenan were <v Speaker 5>a study in contrasts. Sure you write that, Actually, what <v Speaker 5>I'm gonna write this sentence? Ornrvan Heenan were a study <v Speaker 5>in contrast. <v Speaker 2>Sounds smart, isn't it. Yeah? It's intelligent writing using different <v Speaker 2>words in nomenclature that therefore might have a different uh uh, <v Speaker 2>you know, a different experience within the reader. Unquestionably, unquestionably <v Speaker 2>and undoubtedly and very remarkable. <v Speaker 5>Heenan seemed very reluctant, almost afraid to face off against <v Speaker 5>powerful young David. Why you had two wrestlers against a <v Speaker 5>wrestler and a manager. That doesn't seem fair to me, <v Speaker 5>not at all. Orndorff, on the other hand, was especially <v Speaker 5>vicious and anxious to lock up with Bruno, one of <v Speaker 5>the greatest Matt champions of all time. People like Orndorf moreover, <v Speaker 5>are insanely jealous of the love fans have for the <v Speaker 5>elder Sammartino. Given this background, it was not surprising that, <v Speaker 5>with all four men in the ring before the bell, <v Speaker 5>Orndorf tore loose and charged Bruno. A wild melee ensued, <v Speaker 5>with Bruno and Orndorf slugging each other repeatedly while David <v Speaker 5>pummeled Heenan with bone crushing strength in the opposite corner. <v Speaker 5>The legend proved too much for mister Wonderful, who was <v Speaker 5>spent sprawling out of the ring. Orndorf circled around the <v Speaker 5>outside and pulled Heenan out by the leg to relative <v Speaker 5>safety on the arena floor. When the match finally began. <v Speaker 5>Heenan entered the ring first, but then quickly backed off <v Speaker 5>when he saw he had to face David. The Brain <v Speaker 5>motioned for Bruno to come in and face him, and <v Speaker 5>the ex champ eagerly obliged, tacking his son. The two <v Speaker 5>veterans up collar and elbow style. <v Speaker 2>Okay, okay, as opposed to what. <v Speaker 5>House would you lock up? And without apparent effort, Bruno <v Speaker 5>flung Heenan far back into the corner, keen in charge, <v Speaker 5>and was brought down with a blinding arm drag takedowns <v Speaker 5>I know exactly. Another charge found Heenan taking down, taking <v Speaker 5>down the same way. Bruno clamped on an armbar, and <v Speaker 5>as Heenan struggled to escape, Sammartino hoisted him high into <v Speaker 5>the air and moved back to center ring while maintaining <v Speaker 5>the oh wait a minute, I missed a whole section here. <v Speaker 5>I'm sorry, dude, how did I miss? I missed? <v Speaker 2>I'm sorry, I missed the whole Sorry, we'll get back <v Speaker 2>on the rails all right now. <v Speaker 6>Uh. <v Speaker 5>Paul explained his behavior both before and after the match, <v Speaker 5>claiming that Bruno was able to reach his legendary status <v Speaker 5>largely because he never had to face anyone like mis. <v Speaker 5>You're wonderful that creep never had to wrestle anyone, know, <v Speaker 5>anywhere near my own ability or dwarf pragged. I got <v Speaker 5>more speed and agility than any one of any of <v Speaker 5>the restless Bruto builders reputation on, and I'm stronger than <v Speaker 5>mostly all the big men, strong men, powerlifters and football <v Speaker 5>players that he coasted over. Do you think any Do <v Speaker 5>you think any of his opponents all over all those <v Speaker 5>years he was championed could top my endurance and conditioning <v Speaker 5>live in this body, Just look at me. That's what <v Speaker 5>tells the story. Who's in better shape than me? Nobody? <v Speaker 5>I could have destroyed Bruto when he was on top, <v Speaker 5>and now I finally got the chance to prove that <v Speaker 5>you're so called living legend. Isn't men enough to carry <v Speaker 5>my a gym bag? <v Speaker 2>Oh my god? <v Speaker 5>Orndorf Orndorf. Sentiments arrogant and unsubstantiated were firmly rooted. Fancuse <v Speaker 5>I got this one order. Sentiments arrogant, substantiated were firmly <v Speaker 5>rooted in events and attitudes of recent years. Oh my god, <v Speaker 5>many wrestlers have wanted Bruno to come out of retirements <v Speaker 5>so they could build their reputations by taking a crack <v Speaker 5>at one of the greatest matchamions all time. And that's <v Speaker 5>where it picks up where I finished before. But word <v Speaker 5>so I said, last thing I said, hoisted him mind <v Speaker 5>to the air and moved back to center ringwell maintaining <v Speaker 5>hold the hold. This combination is a long time Sammartino favored, <v Speaker 5>used by Bruno from the outset of his professional career <v Speaker 5>in nineteen fifty nine. David is successful with it as well, <v Speaker 5>and the Samartino strength and speed have a tendency of <v Speaker 5>making these rather basic maneuvers far more dangerous and painful <v Speaker 5>than a casual observer might perceive. I just see Vince <v Speaker 5>McMahon at the fucking typewriter, absolutely just doing this all right. <v Speaker 2>This is so he does at once over. You know, <v Speaker 2>you submit your copy and then he adds his phrases <v Speaker 2>in there. Yeah, he's like and Ben Bradley and all <v Speaker 2>the presidents man After briefly escaping only to be brought <v Speaker 2>over with the same combination again, he didn't broke the <v Speaker 2>hold with a knee to the solar plexus. Both The <v Speaker 2>solar plexus is like one of the all time favorite <v Speaker 2>like pro wrestling body parts. They love the solar plexus. Right, <v Speaker 2>heard that one so many times, only in wrestling only. <v Speaker 2>That's how you know you're a wrestling fan. You heard <v Speaker 2>of the solar plexus. <v Speaker 5>Yep, yep. Both combatants quickly tagged their respective partners. David <v Speaker 5>locked up with Orndorf applying aside headlock. Paul tossed David <v Speaker 5>to the ropes and was barreled over with a big <v Speaker 5>shoulder block. Off the ropes once again, David ducked a <v Speaker 5>wild Orndorf right and came back with a flying body press. <v Speaker 5>Orndorf kicked out of the two count, kicked out of <v Speaker 5>the two count, only to be brought down with the <v Speaker 5>similar with a familiar arm drag takedown and arm bar. <v Speaker 5>Paul broke the sund sounds like deep dives, arm drag. <v Speaker 5>Familiar arm drag takedown and arm bar. Paul broke the <v Speaker 5>Sammartino arm bar as had heenan tell me more, with <v Speaker 5>a knee to the midsection. He then dropped a hard <v Speaker 5>elbow to David's throat. Trying this again, he missed his <v Speaker 5>mark and was taken down and caught in the arm bar. Okay, <v Speaker 5>all right, arm bar mentioned way too many times in <v Speaker 5>the last three sentences here. <v Speaker 2>You're supposed to make this match sound exciting, not boring. <v Speaker 5>Right. Seeking to distract David and gain a momentary respite <v Speaker 5>for his man, Heenan climbed the ropes and began to <v Speaker 5>shout disparaging remarks. Bruno, however, in the opposite corner, began <v Speaker 5>shaking the ropes, causing Heenan to lose his perch and <v Speaker 5>fall all the way down to the concrete floor. Orndorf, <v Speaker 5>to his credit, got to his feet and brought David <v Speaker 5>to the mat with a beautifully executed drop toe hold. <v Speaker 5>Reversing matters, reversing matters. David fucking says that reversing matters. <v Speaker 5>McMahon says, yeah, reversing matters. There's just a better way <v Speaker 5>to say it. I mean, people understand a more intellectual <v Speaker 5>logic when it comes to describing the ins and outs <v Speaker 5>of a of a of a professional entertainment uh vehicular <v Speaker 5>endeavor with absolutely ropes of a squared circular nature ring nature. <v Speaker 5>Reversing matters matters, David slapped on a wrenching Oh my god, <v Speaker 5>reversing matters. David slapped on a wrenching hammer lock and <v Speaker 5>tagged Bruno, who step This is the most boring fucking <v Speaker 5>match ever described. <v Speaker 2>They're just like they have so little to say about <v Speaker 2>Bruno's reasons for returning right, you just have to describe <v Speaker 2>the match like its Battle of the Titans, I. <v Speaker 5>Know, and it's just awful who stepped in and maintained <v Speaker 5>his son's advantage. Then orned Orf escaped with an elbow <v Speaker 5>smashed to Bruno's head. Coming off the ropes, Paul surprised <v Speaker 5>Bruno with a solid shoulder block. Attempting a second quick <v Speaker 5>shoulder block, mister Wonderful was expertly side stepped and locked <v Speaker 5>into a hammer lock once more. <v Speaker 2>I could have written for the magazine twelve. <v Speaker 5>I was seriously from a tactical standpoint, the repetition of <v Speaker 5>holes by the Sammartinos is extremely effective. <v Speaker 2>And is from a tactical standpoint. Then love the word standpoint. <v Speaker 5>Oh yes, yes, it is extremely effective. It has long <v Speaker 5>been an important ingredient in their recipe for wrestling success. <v Speaker 5>Can I get all the ingredients for a recipe in <v Speaker 5>the recipe for wrestling? <v Speaker 2>Basil is in there? <v Speaker 5>I think so too. I think when it comes from <v Speaker 5>to Bruno too, there must be a lot of garlic, <v Speaker 5>a lot of garlic in his recipe. <v Speaker 2>Look, okay, there is no chance that that that home <v Speaker 2>in Pittsburgh, that suburban mans didn't smell like tomato sauce <v Speaker 2>on Sundays, there is. <v Speaker 5>All Listen, I'm sure that there was like a hint <v Speaker 5>of like fried meat and garlic in the air all <v Speaker 5>the time, like my grandmother's house, all right. Always, there's <v Speaker 5>not a day that goes by where a meatball isn't <v Speaker 5>fucking frying on the fucking on the stove. <v Speaker 9>A day that goes by, you want a meat ball, <v Speaker 9>Oh yeah, David, a meatball. <v Speaker 2>You've never seen a wooden spoon fit more snugly in <v Speaker 2>the pan of sauce. <v Speaker 5>You know, like you've also you've never seen a fucking <v Speaker 5>a more experienced wooden spoon. <v Speaker 8>All right, the things it's seen. <v Speaker 5>This this this wooden spoon, all right, this fucking came <v Speaker 5>from a brutes, all right, That's where it came from. <v Speaker 5>Like he added, it was his mother's. You know, it <v Speaker 5>fucking went up and down the hill every fucking time <v Speaker 5>he did all his ship like this fucking spoons at all. <v Speaker 5>He probably whittled himself, you know, before he fucking made <v Speaker 5>the trip so funny, like stirring tomato sauce and it <v Speaker 5>bubbling on a wooden spoon is just the funniest thing. <v Speaker 2>In the world. <v Speaker 5>You gotta use a wooden spoon. And my mother always said, <v Speaker 5>you gotta use a wooden spoon. Uh my recipe for <v Speaker 5>spaghetti wrestling and tomato success. <v Speaker 2>That would have been a much better title for his book. <v Speaker 2>Let's not forget how the Bruno tribute we did moons <v Speaker 2>Ago ends. By the way, speaking of stereotype, I mean <v Speaker 2>we basically got AJ styles and a couple other modern <v Speaker 2>roster members slapped in the face because we started doing <v Speaker 2>that whole thing, slaps talent. AJ knows wherever he is <v Speaker 2>that when he took a paint brush from Vince during <v Speaker 2>I think it was during COVID. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, that's because before I think I think it was <v Speaker 5>before when he started slapping talent. That's because of us. Yeah, <v Speaker 5>that's right, awesome fucking Christ Mighty. Oh my, I wonder <v Speaker 5>what the you know, I wonder what the brijol was <v Speaker 5>like in the Samartino house, That's what I want to know. <v Speaker 5>How about the other day when someone uh surfaced, how <v Speaker 5>we were talking about how it's a cooking show. You <v Speaker 5>said it's a cast iron cats. Oh my god, ahead <v Speaker 5>bringing applying a hold or combination of holds on a signal. <v Speaker 5>You know they should have called him and presenting his <v Speaker 5>son David garlic bread. Sammartina could have been David Brucetta, <v Speaker 5>Semartino and this is my lovely daughter Bruschetta. You got <v Speaker 5>David and Brucetta looking like a Colin Firth's girlfriend in love. Actually, <v Speaker 5>Sammartino can't speak a word of English, but like, like, <v Speaker 5>could I get an order of chicken Samartino please? Or <v Speaker 5>maybe the veal the vein said Samartino please? That does <v Speaker 5>something like a Valentino, you know, like a Sorrentino or <v Speaker 5>what is it what I'm thinking of Florentino, you know, yeah, yeah, Florentine, Yeah, <v Speaker 5>veal Sammartine. <v Speaker 2>It's way too much. <v Speaker 4>It's hilarious. <v Speaker 5>Is Bruno too? Like Jesus Christ? <v Speaker 2>We start talking about how money and special he is, <v Speaker 2>throwing punches in the ring, and that's true, but there's <v Speaker 2>another side. Him in a sweater Sunday dinner, like, oh god, <v Speaker 2>at the head of the table. You know, that's stupid, <v Speaker 2>smile in his face with his chin hanging down to <v Speaker 2>the fucking table. So you're like the clinging of like <v Speaker 2>the David, what do you think about your earliest days <v Speaker 2>of training in the business here, Well, Dad, I really <v Speaker 2>think it's going well. I've heard you've been progressing pretty <v Speaker 2>well and uh, you certainly have great training. <v Speaker 5>He says, you have good bones. Would say that, I <v Speaker 5>guess you would say, David, you're of good stock, of <v Speaker 5>good stock on your father's side. What a finisher that <v Speaker 5>would be? Of good stock. He got on with the <v Speaker 5>off good stock, Oh my god, off good stalk, half <v Speaker 5>good stalk. <v Speaker 2>Chicken stock. It's all there. <v Speaker 5>Applying a hold or combination of holds on a single <v Speaker 5>body part, in this case, the arm, and continually coming <v Speaker 5>back to work on that same part shows the mark <v Speaker 5>of a consummate professional, Like they just fucking killed. I mean, <v Speaker 5>these are you know, these columns are are are not <v Speaker 5>like crazy? Why but one, two, three, four, five, six <v Speaker 5>lines in this fucking column with that stupid sentence describing <v Speaker 5>an arm bar basically right, it is instrumental in the <v Speaker 5>weakening and wearing down of one's opponent. Moreover, it causes <v Speaker 5>a mounting psychological frustration to develop in the competitor who <v Speaker 5>clearly escapes a hold, only to be recaptured with that <v Speaker 5>same hold time after time. <v Speaker 2>I dantic as it is. I have to say I <v Speaker 2>kind of love it too, Like sure, you know, you <v Speaker 2>watch this part of a wrestling match that just seems <v Speaker 2>like total transition, should nothing happen, and you know, and <v Speaker 2>they find a way to read into it the world. <v Speaker 2>You know, they see the world in this arm bar <v Speaker 2>I would, and I agree with you, but it's just <v Speaker 2>like you're there. There should be a special place for that. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>like they should have a place dedicated feature, right. <v Speaker 5>What a simple you know, you look at this as <v Speaker 5>a viewer, as a simple hold, But here's actually what's happening. <v Speaker 5>But here, it's like they're just trying to fill fucking <v Speaker 5>space totally because they decided they want to have a <v Speaker 5>fucking five page article on Brunos San Martino, and then <v Speaker 5>they decided, oh, yeah, we don't know what to fucking <v Speaker 5>write about the guy. <v Speaker 2>I don't think it's interesting about him right now as <v Speaker 2>his son, which right, it's not all that interesting. <v Speaker 5>Orn Dorf, thus trapped, still maintained his feverish desire to <v Speaker 5>humiliate Bruno. Coming alive, he that'd be a great shoot <v Speaker 5>interview question for him. Now, Paul, did you have a <v Speaker 5>feverish desire to humiliate Bruno Sammartino because they were still <v Speaker 5>trapped in this arm magazine said you did. I always <v Speaker 5>like Bruno. I'm not sure what that's referring to. Coming alive. <v Speaker 5>He arm whipped. So now we got a new new <v Speaker 5>arm maneuver. Arm whipped the living legend of the ropes <v Speaker 5>and rocked him with a full body slam. Okay, a <v Speaker 5>full I'd like to see a quarter body slam. Please? <v Speaker 5>Can I get a quarter quarter body slam? Please? And <v Speaker 5>then a half body slam of Ham as well, well <v Speaker 5>you have half body ham. Each man then tagged his <v Speaker 5>partner for relief, but they hit the bathroom. Gotta hit <v Speaker 5>the John, David, David, make the tag. I gotta take <v Speaker 5>a ship. I gotta loose what, Oh my god? And <v Speaker 5>then okay, fine, fuck it, I'm gonna do it. I'm <v Speaker 5>feeling giggly, all right, it is it's not in keeping <v Speaker 5>with brew know in the essence of Bruno and Colisseum <v Speaker 5>videos and VHS nostalgia. But what happens is, after informing <v Speaker 5>his son in a relative panic that he must take <v Speaker 5>a shit. Bruno tags out, steps through the ropes, stands <v Speaker 5>on the apron, turns around to face the entrance way <v Speaker 5>from the apron, standing straight as a board, and instead <v Speaker 5>of coming down to the floor to make his way <v Speaker 5>to the bathroom, he levitates from the height of the <v Speaker 5>apron to the back to get at this at a <v Speaker 5>slow motion speed motionless. He's not moving, but his body <v Speaker 5>is levitating towards the entrance way video game exactly. He <v Speaker 5>puts his arm out, okay, he's reaching for hed and <v Speaker 5>then and then all of a sudden, like you know, <v Speaker 5>he because his body goes his upper body goes first, <v Speaker 5>and so his legs kind of lag a little bit, <v Speaker 5>and so they're kind of like spaced out. And then <v Speaker 5>he kind of, you know, puts his leg a little <v Speaker 5>bit like they do when they're flying in movies and <v Speaker 5>with a knee bent and whatever. And then when he <v Speaker 5>gets close to the entrance way, he lowers a little bit, <v Speaker 5>but he doesn't stop floating. He keeps going. <v Speaker 4>Ely. <v Speaker 5>He goes around the obstruction, he disappearspears, he keeps going <v Speaker 5>with the bathroom and there's some guy coming out of <v Speaker 5>the fucking bathroom like and all of a sudden, he <v Speaker 5>sees Brutal floating door the ground, going on in his trunks. <v Speaker 5>I mean, this is part of Bruello. Meanwhile, fucking David <v Speaker 5>Paul and fucking he didn't have to improvise a whole <v Speaker 5>thing without Brutal with the fucking corner. They also have <v Speaker 5>to pretend they didn't just see this man walk up <v Speaker 5>the air. And then the best part is when he <v Speaker 5>comes back. He comes back from the top of the <v Speaker 5>back row and he floats down the No, here's the thing. <v Speaker 5>He comes back from the top of the back row <v Speaker 5>totally normal. He walks down the stairs like any other <v Speaker 5>human being. He comes back from the top the back <v Speaker 5>row of the whole fucking arena, coming walking down slowly, <v Speaker 5>gotta get back to the ring. He would slap in <v Speaker 5>his back and everything gets a big back. It's a <v Speaker 5>big commotion, and he somehow can't marshal waving. I mean, <v Speaker 5>it takes like ten minutes from to get to He's <v Speaker 5>like waving everybody you know, and it's ten minutes to <v Speaker 5>get down like the Mac match pretty much. I mean <v Speaker 5>probably David is only in an arm bar the. <v Speaker 2>Whole time to the thing. <v Speaker 5>If only I had a production budget. Man, I would <v Speaker 5>just make these like five minutes skits just to oh <v Speaker 5>my god, yeah, I mean seriously. <v Speaker 2>To see him with his like fro like I think <v Speaker 2>in the seventies fro. Oh my god. <v Speaker 5>The fucking the fucking Tom Jones Sonny Corleone hairstyle. <v Speaker 6>Is it is. <v Speaker 5>It is the weirdest fucking hairstyle for a man of <v Speaker 5>his age. And I don't know his his whatever, Like <v Speaker 5>as much as he dog on him for the bald <v Speaker 5>spots in the eighties, like that is a way better <v Speaker 5>look than. <v Speaker 2>The Yeah, listen, the slick back hair is way better <v Speaker 2>than the fucking the. <v Speaker 5>Idiotic A sprout of cauliflower on his head, I mean, like, like, whird, <v Speaker 5>what what made him say, you know what, I need <v Speaker 5>to get a perm right? <v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure it was a hair piece. I don't <v Speaker 2>think it was. I think it was a rug. <v Speaker 5>Well, that's even work. Didn't it come off once? <v Speaker 2>Did his rug come off one time? <v Speaker 5>I don't know. I don't know. <v Speaker 2>We talked about, yeah, we'll find it yep, or he <v Speaker 2>was certain, oh yeah, full bodies. This all came from <v Speaker 2>full body slam. By the way, he had a two <v Speaker 2>pay He had a two pay woven. Yeah, thanks, he <v Speaker 2>had a two pay woven in his hair. Yeah, And <v Speaker 2>Greg Valentine and others have talked about trying to knock <v Speaker 2>it off during matches. That was that's fake hair, So <v Speaker 2>what why? I know it's not even worse, that's even <v Speaker 2>that's way worse. Like whose idea was that this is funny? <v Speaker 5>Facebook post? <v Speaker 2>Brutal Sartino's wig had its own zip code. <v Speaker 5>And I'm sure it had a whole fucking cul de <v Speaker 5>sac in there. For God's sakes, Jesus. Each man then <v Speaker 5>tagged his partner for a relief. That's a relief. <v Speaker 2>That's it. <v Speaker 5>Once again, Heenan was uncertain about locking up with David. <v Speaker 5>He snuck in a low blow and quickly followed up <v Speaker 5>by ramming David's head into the turnbuckle, sending his man <v Speaker 5>to the far corner. However, Heenan was spun about and <v Speaker 5>then caught with a very high back body drop moving in, <v Speaker 5>David whipped buff Hi back body drop it moving in, <v Speaker 5>David whipped Bobby the brain back across the ring, where <v Speaker 5>he sailed between the buckles directly into the steel ring posts. <v Speaker 5>See I'm actually realizing too that I where I got <v Speaker 5>the style of I get basically when I would write <v Speaker 5>my fake news articles, this is I would write like <v Speaker 5>Vince mcman. Yeah, that's what I would do. I would <v Speaker 5>want to sound because this is what I read. I <v Speaker 5>read shit like this and it's like, this is how <v Speaker 5>wrestling is is written. When you do news articles, how <v Speaker 5>you described the action right, So you get to sound <v Speaker 5>like Vince McMahon. Apparently, at this point, David decided to <v Speaker 5>throw the rule book out the window. He planted a <v Speaker 5>foot on Heene's throat and pressed down with all his might. <v Speaker 5>Orndorf soon relieved his helpless manager and the match went <v Speaker 5>completely out of control. He lifted David for a slam, <v Speaker 5>but dropped him instead, throat first, across the top rope. <v Speaker 5>Paul then launched a brutal series of kicks, punches, and <v Speaker 5>knees on the fallen David. Bruno entered the ring illegally <v Speaker 5>and was stopped by the referee. This caused his son <v Speaker 5>to absorb greater punishment, as both Orndorf and Heenan choked <v Speaker 5>David in unison. With Heenan continuing the attack on David, <v Speaker 5>the Young Powerhouse finally managed to reach Bruno for the <v Speaker 5>tag Orndorf's interference, however, distracted the referee from seeing the tag, <v Speaker 5>and thus Bruno, who now entered the ring legally, who <v Speaker 5>now entered the ring legally, was immediately ushered back outside. Yes, <v Speaker 5>ushered is the word I would use. Orndorf now picked <v Speaker 5>up the attack and locked a painful arm bar on David. <v Speaker 2>Back to this. <v Speaker 5>David briefly. David briefly escaped with an arm drag takeover, <v Speaker 5>only to be devastated with a tremendous Orndorf back soup play. <v Speaker 5>Orndorf then landed a high flying knee to the back <v Speaker 5>of David's neck. David was knocked halfway across the ring <v Speaker 5>into his home corner, where he was able to tag Bruno. <v Speaker 2>He was knocked halfway across the ring by a knead <v Speaker 2>of the back of the neck. <v Speaker 5>Yes, okay, what doesn't make sense to you? Come on, obviously, <v Speaker 5>it's real. Bruno's rage and indignation allowed him to get <v Speaker 5>the best of Worndorf and the slug fest that ensued. <v Speaker 5>He slammed Paul headfirst to the buckle and then landed <v Speaker 5>the same tremendous flying knee that Paul had used on David. <v Speaker 5>A still groggy, Heenan came in and was pummeled from <v Speaker 5>pillar to post. Bruno tossed Bobby to the ropes and <v Speaker 5>attempted the famous Bruno bear hug, which was such an <v Speaker 5>important part of his first WWE title reign. Somehow, however, <v Speaker 5>Bruno was not able to maintain it. It appeared that <v Speaker 5>Heenan's momentum bowled Bruno over and when the bear hug <v Speaker 5>was clamped on, Bruno was toppled onto the canvas. Nevertheless, <v Speaker 5>Bruno applied the bear hug once again, and he proceeded <v Speaker 5>to multiply the pressure, as he has done so many <v Speaker 5>times before. But he had his back turned to Orndorf. <v Speaker 5>With Heenen in serious trouble and close to conceding the bout. <v Speaker 5>Orndorf stepped in with a solid steel sitting stool ah <v Speaker 5>what now a steel sitting stool, and cracked it across <v Speaker 5>the small of Bruno's back. The ex champ hit the <v Speaker 5>deck like a ton of bricks. Paul then proceeded to <v Speaker 5>strangle the fallen Bruno with the legs of the stool, <v Speaker 5>a desperate and despicable action the likes of which Sammartino's <v Speaker 5>tremendous skill has always inspired in his outclassed opponents. Going <v Speaker 5>even further, Orndorf slugged the referee, who was attempting to <v Speaker 5>regain some semblance of order in the ring. Finally, David <v Speaker 5>Sammartino rushed in to stop the mayhem, stealing Orndorf's stool. <v Speaker 2>Sample thank you was. <v Speaker 5>Waiting for that. He attempted to bash him in with it, <v Speaker 5>but was unable to land the blow. David swung the <v Speaker 5>stool for Heenan, but was similarly evaded. Orndorf and Heenan <v Speaker 5>quickly evacuated the ring, evacuated their systems as David helped <v Speaker 5>Bruno to his feet. The match was awarded to the Sammartinos. <v Speaker 5>Do you want to go to Sammartinos this weekend? <v Speaker 2>Is that where rip players to get drunk? In Baltimore? <v Speaker 5>On a disqualification. Weary and bruised, the Sammartinos talked with <v Speaker 5>the press in the locker room after the bout. Happy <v Speaker 5>to win, they nevertheless were disappointed that they had not <v Speaker 5>conquered Orndorf and Heenan with a pin. The referee had <v Speaker 5>no choice but to disqualify those guys, said Bruno, But <v Speaker 5>I wish we could have ended it with a three <v Speaker 5>count on one of them. That would have left no <v Speaker 5>question about who's best. My father's right, added David. I <v Speaker 5>don't know how he sounds. A pin would have shut <v Speaker 5>them up for good, but now they'll claim they were cheated. <v Speaker 5>He was right in a nearby locker room orndorf, and <v Speaker 5>he didn't. We're bad mouthing the Sammartino's NonStop. The roof <v Speaker 5>was weighed by Bruno's name charge sheen, and he could <v Speaker 5>have just as well to qualify the Samartinos. If we <v Speaker 5>got another shot at them, we'll make tonight look like <v Speaker 5>a tea party at a little girls' school. I want <v Speaker 5>the Sammartinos humbled. I want to destroy Bruno, make him <v Speaker 5>crawl and beg for mercy. I don't want David to <v Speaker 5>come out from behind his father and try me on <v Speaker 5>his own. I'll break him in half. What about the <v Speaker 5>future of the Sammartino team. Bruno says he will wrestle <v Speaker 5>sparingly when David needs him. If if you need me, Son, <v Speaker 5>I'll wrestle a little bit every time. <v Speaker 4>And he says a little bit of time. <v Speaker 5>Bruno says he will wrestle sparingly when David needs him <v Speaker 5>the fucking greatest sentence. As for the threats of Orndorf <v Speaker 5>and he and Bruno says he and his son will <v Speaker 5>meet brawling with brawling. If they want a war, we're ready, <v Speaker 5>The former champ says, we'd rather wrestle clean, but we <v Speaker 5>can meet them on their own turf. David echoes his father. <v Speaker 5>If we mean he and Norndorff again and they pull <v Speaker 5>what they did, we'll have no mercy. Neither of them <v Speaker 5>will be able to walk out of the ring once <v Speaker 5>we're finished. <v Speaker 2>So that's how they wanted you to think about the <v Speaker 2>return of Bruno s Emmartino to provide. Please christ up <v Speaker 2>to David, I will awful wrestle sparingly, sparingly, and I've <v Speaker 2>got something for you, boss. Listen to this. I have <v Speaker 2>obtained exclusively the final paragraph of that article that was <v Speaker 2>cut from publication before BO was put out on WF magazine. <v Speaker 2>And here's what. In a wild twist, the final paragraph <v Speaker 2>of that article originally read you ready, Yes, David san Martino, <v Speaker 2>clad in a sharp suit but with the unmistakable air <v Speaker 2>of a wrestler, stepped off the plane into the sweltering heat, <v Speaker 2>of Tehran. Flanked by stern faced escorts, he adjusted his tie, <v Speaker 2>his mind racing with the surreal nature of his journey. <v Speaker 2>Led through winding corridors of a heavily guarded compound, he <v Speaker 2>finally stood before Iatola Homini. <v Speaker 6>His. <v Speaker 2>Piercing gaze unwavering beneath his black turban. A tense silence <v Speaker 2>filled the room as David, the son of a wrestling legend, <v Speaker 2>prepared to speak, wondering how his world of body slams <v Speaker 2>and bear hugs had brought him to the heart of <v Speaker 2>a revolution. <v Speaker 8>Moving on, Smartino, David Solo. <v Speaker 2>Martino. <v Speaker 5>I just decided, sound like a Martino drive, Please with <v Speaker 5>extra olives, I asked chat GPT. <v Speaker 2>I said, quick sentence describing David Simartino joining Alatoya Ayatola Hominy, <v Speaker 2>and it said David Simartino joining Alatole Homony would be <v Speaker 2>an improbable and bizarre alliance. Loved him till wrestling legacy <v Speaker 2>with radical political extremism. And then I wrote, describe David <v Speaker 2>going to see him and that's where you got him <v Speaker 2>stepping on. Oh my god, that is absolutely I have <v Speaker 2>no idea why they cut that from the article, but <v Speaker 2>I'm glad we could bring it to you. Uh so, <v Speaker 2>what else is Bruno up to in eighty six? Besides <v Speaker 2>occasionally helping his son from getting murdered, He's making. <v Speaker 5>A bearing sparing against sparingly Sparingly. He's sparingly and I'll <v Speaker 5>share this with you. You might even post this when <v Speaker 5>we get the episode up. He's also making appearances at <v Speaker 5>Jim McCain ford in Pittsburgh, No where, not only will <v Speaker 5>you read oh Oh my God. <v Speaker 2>And you come get a tourus, you can take a <v Speaker 2>test drive in our tourus and enter the mechanical bull <v Speaker 2>riding contest for an opportunity to win the use of <v Speaker 2>a nineteen eighty six tourist for thirty days. There's also <v Speaker 2>boss at Jim McCain ford. By the way, you haven't <v Speaker 2>dealt until you deal with Jim Ford. Jim McCain ford, which, <v Speaker 2>by the way is Penna's oldest Ford dealer since nineteen ten. <v Speaker 2>There go on Route nineteen North and Wexford Special added <v Speaker 2>attraction here on January eighteenth, nineteen eighty six guest appearance <v Speaker 2>by the only living legend of professional wrestling, Bruno sim <v Speaker 2>Martino noon to five. Come on down to Jim McCain ford, give. <v Speaker 1>Me the Lapdan Wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that knows <v Speaker 1>the boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. He's <v Speaker 1>the Lapsed Fan Wrestling podcast with Jack and Carno, m <v Speaker 1>JP sorrow. <v Speaker 5>Because he's gonna MC the fifth. Oh my god. I <v Speaker 5>also like the way Jim McCain ford proudly presents for <v Speaker 5>your lifestyle Taurus. <v Speaker 2>Absolutely, i'man look at that car. Didn't that say lifestyle <v Speaker 2>to you? That looks like a car that's explicitly designed <v Speaker 2>to break down? Like this is a car most likely <v Speaker 2>to break down or we're probably. <v Speaker 5>Like it looks like a car that's specifically designed to <v Speaker 5>prevent you from being promoted at your job. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, you're running in place in this one, like the toy. <v Speaker 5>Exactly like you. You get this car and you will <v Speaker 5>stay middle whatever forever. <v Speaker 2>And then another advertisement for Jim McCain ford in Pittsburgh, <v Speaker 2>which you have to imagine a world. <v Speaker 5>What I can I ask you? I need to know <v Speaker 5>what is so when you when you look up this thing, <v Speaker 5>you know obviously you're doing Bruno Sammartino and you're doing <v Speaker 5>the time period whatever, what what goes? Because I know <v Speaker 5>it goes through my mind When I see shit like this, <v Speaker 5>it just blows. I get so fucking crazy, happy, giddy. <v Speaker 5>What do you go through that like when you see <v Speaker 5>this thing, like just the fucking like, what the fuck? <v Speaker 2>Because I go into it thinking, what is the gist <v Speaker 2>of Bruno in eighty six when this tape came out? <v Speaker 6>YEA what? <v Speaker 5>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>What rises to the top when you ask an algorithm <v Speaker 2>like you know, what were people writing about Bruno? Samartino <v Speaker 2>and day six And the fact that these ads in <v Speaker 2>the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for a fucking car dealership rise <v Speaker 2>to the top of that list kind of says it all. <v Speaker 2>And I love it so very much, and you got it. <v Speaker 2>You have to picture this guy. He's not paying Bruno <v Speaker 2>for these appearances, but he's given him a free car. <v Speaker 2>And I love the idea of hometown boy makes it <v Speaker 2>big and then comes home and just fleeces the local <v Speaker 2>car dealer for a free car, just foleeicesm. It makes, <v Speaker 2>you know, promotional appearances so that Bruno can drive off <v Speaker 2>in his very own fucking Ford Tourists or whatever exactly <v Speaker 2>on it so much. He also features in this other <v Speaker 2>print ad for Jim McCain ford entitled why buy at <v Speaker 2>Jim McCain ford. Let the pros tell you quote, Let <v Speaker 2>me tell you about the champions Choice, Jim McCain ford. <v Speaker 2>They've got a professional sales staff and the largest selection <v Speaker 2>of Ford cars and trucks in a tri state area. <v Speaker 2>Take it from me, Bernoso Martino and put your trust <v Speaker 2>and Jim McCain ford. Oh my god, Oh my god, <v Speaker 2>that's what he's doing. Oh hey, look they want to <v Speaker 2>associate themselves with class. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, listen, Nate, class. <v Speaker 2>My favorite thing is like those wrestlers who somehow get <v Speaker 2>away with a classy gimmick and like you just go <v Speaker 2>and find things that make them exactly like the rest, <v Speaker 2>you know, yeah, just like transactional bitches, just selling a <v Speaker 2>different gimmick than the dirt bag wrestlers, but it's still <v Speaker 2>a gimmick. <v Speaker 7>You know. <v Speaker 5>It's so wild. <v Speaker 2>And so here's a here's putting Bruno into a bit <v Speaker 2>of context in the Pittsburgh Press. This is by the <v Speaker 2>a report by of Jerry Dulac, and this was published <v Speaker 2>in the Pittsburgh Press on February twenty fourth, nineteen eighty five, <v Speaker 2>when it was becoming clear that Sam Martino is going <v Speaker 2>to return. So if you're in Bruno's hometown unfolding the <v Speaker 2>broadsheet looking like fucking Ralphie's dad and Christmas story, this <v Speaker 2>is what you read the leisure in that guy in <v Speaker 2>that movie, like, oh yeah, he's providing for his family <v Speaker 2>on one income, no problem, and he's got time to <v Speaker 2>sit around and eat and smoke and read the paper <v Speaker 2>and be in slippers. <v Speaker 5>He works, He works, so he can leisure. Correct, we can, <v Speaker 5>so we can lease. Correct, Not that that's what he does, right. <v Speaker 2>Not to side hustle, not to do anything but sit <v Speaker 2>there on his American ass and enjoy the fact that <v Speaker 2>anything to do when he gets home, he just wants <v Speaker 2>to leave tremendous. So here's bruno article entitled Samartino returns <v Speaker 2>to give son a hand. Two weeks ago, on a <v Speaker 2>Friday night at the Civic Arena, the Word Wrestling Federation <v Speaker 2>matched David Sammartino, a Ross Township native and the son <v Speaker 2>of former champion Berna Samartino, against It's the same match. <v Speaker 2>I think paulf a tough former WOW player known around <v Speaker 2>the professional circuit, is mister wonderful. Ordorf is one of <v Speaker 2>the sports back Now there's no heen In component Ordorf <v Speaker 2>is one of the sports bad guys. He also is <v Speaker 2>one of its superstars. As such, he is not expected <v Speaker 2>to lose to the likes of David Sammartino, even though <v Speaker 2>Sammartino is a good guy. So this is that weird <v Speaker 2>thing then, because if we're talking about us, is before <v Speaker 2>WrestleMania one. Okay, so Orndorf is still a heel. I <v Speaker 2>kind of still think this is happening after the first. <v Speaker 5>It's very weird. It is very weird, like, yeah, like <v Speaker 5>it has to because unless it happens well, wait a minute, <v Speaker 5>was Orndorf with Heenan when he was a heel before? Yes, <v Speaker 5>that that's the only time he really was. They kind <v Speaker 5>of disassociated with each other before that breakup, which is <v Speaker 5>really weird. But they had Orndorf like fire Heenan on <v Speaker 5>before Saturday night's main event on w TIF television, including <v Speaker 5>on Tuesday Titans as we played, but Orndorff wasn't appearing <v Speaker 5>with Heenan in his corner for like weeks and weeks <v Speaker 5>before he suddenly fired him so he could turn baby face. <v Speaker 5>So it was it was strange, disoriented, I know, he <v Speaker 5>joined up with him afterwards. In eighty six again after <v Speaker 5>we turn on. <v Speaker 2>Absolutely Orndorf is one of the sports bad guys, he <v Speaker 2>also was one of its superstars. As such, he is <v Speaker 2>not expected to lose to the likes of David Simartino, <v Speaker 2>even though Simartino was a good guy. But that is <v Speaker 2>what appeared to be happening. When san Martino tod the <v Speaker 2>Orndorff off the ropes and into his waiting arms. At <v Speaker 2>the center of the ring, Simmartino bear hugged Orndorf, turned <v Speaker 2>and slammed him to the mat. Sa Maartino was ready <v Speaker 2>for the pin one two weight. Charging from the corner <v Speaker 2>of the ring was the villainous Bobby the brain Heen <v Speaker 2>and who is Orndwarf's manager. He didn't pulled Samartino office protege, <v Speaker 2>thus saving mister Wonderful from shore defeat. The two men <v Speaker 2>then began pummeling young sam Martino. Orndorf was disqualified. The <v Speaker 2>father of David Sammartino, who symbolized what is good about <v Speaker 2>professional wrestling, was indignant. Bruno Samartino came out of retirement <v Speaker 2>last night, presumably to protect his son from the bullies <v Speaker 2>on the block. Bruno Simmartino was forty eight, has not <v Speaker 2>wrestled in four years, and no longer is the muscular, <v Speaker 2>powerful mass of flesh that ruled the ww F from <v Speaker 2>nineteen sixty three to nineteen seventy eight. Yet there he was, <v Speaker 2>the familiar tights and black boots, turning to the ring <v Speaker 2>along with son David in a one hour, one fall <v Speaker 2>match against Orndorf and Heenan. This is the same match. <v Speaker 2>Can you believe it? Yep, yep, you can't. <v Speaker 5>That's wild. <v Speaker 2>You can't really do what they did, Sammartino says, disgustedly <v Speaker 2>of Ordorf and Heenan. This, of course, left san Martino <v Speaker 2>with no recourse. He would un retire for the third time. <v Speaker 2>They wanted me even before this, but I refused, Sammartino said, <v Speaker 2>I had washed my hands out a whole thing. Bruno <v Speaker 2>and David were declared victorious last night when Orndorf brought <v Speaker 2>a chair into the ring and choked the elder Sammartino <v Speaker 2>with it. So was it a bench? Was it a <v Speaker 2>sitting stool? <v Speaker 5>Or was it a was it or was it a <v Speaker 5>sitting stool? Sample? <v Speaker 6>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>Right, we have a discress. <v Speaker 5>Was it was it a stool? Sample? Sitting in the ring? <v Speaker 2>Sellout crowd of over eighteen thousand gave Sammartino a standing <v Speaker 2>ovation and shouted Bruno Bruno as he walked into the ring. <v Speaker 2>After all these years, I still get goosebump, Simmartino said <v Speaker 2>as he left the ring. It was really something. Simmartino <v Speaker 2>weighs two thirty seven, down from two to eighty, the <v Speaker 2>result of a daily training regimen that includes, let's see <v Speaker 2>an eight mile run in two thousand, five hundred setups <v Speaker 2>and leg raises. I'm not as strong as I used <v Speaker 2>to be, but I feel good as far as they <v Speaker 2>don't mention that, do they? Let me tell you he's <v Speaker 2>got the real Ravioli abs. Directed way better than I <v Speaker 2>was prepared for. It take some time. That's a good one. <v Speaker 2>We had to have done that one before. <v Speaker 5>I don't be about Bruno though, Oh my god, I <v Speaker 5>mean I have. I remember I said that I had <v Speaker 5>him when we did the WBF show. I've got the <v Speaker 5>Ravioli abs for sure. Me too. I'm not as strong <v Speaker 5>as I used to be, but I feel good as <v Speaker 5>far as stabina and quickness because I've taken off weight. <v Speaker 5>I didn't do it with the idea of putting the <v Speaker 5>tights back on. I had had it with that stuff, <v Speaker 5>traveling and been away from home all the time. I <v Speaker 5>was doing it for my personal health and satisfaction. Actually, <v Speaker 5>Sammartino returned to the ring last weekend when he and <v Speaker 5>David teamed to defeat Johnny Valiant and Brutus Beefcake before <v Speaker 5>a sellout crowd of nineteen thousand, five hundred at the <v Speaker 5>Spectrum in Philadelphia. But that was only a warm up. <v Speaker 5>This is the serious stuff. This is Capital T Capital R. <v Speaker 2>The return. Wow, those are good crowds. Nineteen five. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>that must have felt good for Bruno to come back <v Speaker 2>after Vince revolutionizes what wrestling is on the back of <v Speaker 2>Hulkogan is oh I would imagine still selling out Bruno Sammartino. <v Speaker 2>He was a legend. He regularly sold out Madison Square <v Speaker 2>Garden in New York, Boston Garden, the Spectrum, the Cow <v Speaker 2>Palace in San Francisco, and Cobolt Arena in Detroit. No celebrity, <v Speaker 2>in fact has sold out Madison Square Garden more times <v Speaker 2>than Sammartino. He had a fifty eight inch chest, thirty <v Speaker 2>eight and a half inch waist, wore a size fifty <v Speaker 2>six coat, and had a twenty one inch neck. He <v Speaker 2>could bench press five hundred and fifty pounds. Muhammad Ali <v Speaker 2>used to get into the ring with him. He was <v Speaker 2>considered unbeatable. He had won the title in nineteen sixty three, <v Speaker 2>four years after turning pro. Samartino was professional wrest was <v Speaker 2>professional wrestling. He held the title for eight years until <v Speaker 2>a Russian named Ivan Koloff defeated him for the championship <v Speaker 2>at Madison Square Garden. The loss, quite naturally stunned the <v Speaker 2>wrestling world. Sammartino pondered retirement. There were twenty two thousand <v Speaker 2>people in the garden and a place when dead, Sammartino said, <v Speaker 2>a few years ago, I thought I lost my hearing. Well, <v Speaker 2>you did, but that's incidental. No only his title. The <v Speaker 2>belt bounced around for a while. A Puerto Rican named <v Speaker 2>Pedro Morales held it longer than anybody else. Morales, though <v Speaker 2>never attained Sammartino's mythical status. In fact, no one really <v Speaker 2>has since, though a case can be made. This author <v Speaker 2>rights for the current WWF champion, Incredible Hulk Hogan, who <v Speaker 2>was wrestling's latest idol. Imagine that Hulk Hogan being referred <v Speaker 2>to as wrestling's latest idol as opposed to the runaway <v Speaker 2>most successful guy with one powerful body slam. Sammartino's wrestling <v Speaker 2>career almost came to an end in April nineteen seventy six, <v Speaker 2>before the customary sellout crowd at Madison Square Garden, he <v Speaker 2>broke his neck in a match against a six seven, <v Speaker 2>three hundred and twenty seven pounds swede named Stan Hansen. <v Speaker 2>It was a real injury in a sport where even <v Speaker 2>the names are presumed fake. Wow, there you go, there <v Speaker 2>it is. Sammartino crushed reality right there, crushed his third <v Speaker 2>and fourth vertebrae had a diagonal crack of the sixth <v Speaker 2>and the seventh was twisted out of shape. He was <v Speaker 2>told to retire. Instead, he returned to the ring seven <v Speaker 2>months later before a recordquired of forty two thousand at <v Speaker 2>Chase Stadium in New York, San Martino avenged his defeat <v Speaker 2>to Hanson. So that's a little bit of color. And <v Speaker 2>that article ran underneath the coverage of David Schultz slapping <v Speaker 2>John Stossel in the face. Wow in the ear, So <v Speaker 2>that's interesting. In the pages of his hometown Pittsburgh Press, <v Speaker 2>writing about the return of Brunoso, Martino to the scene. <v Speaker 2>Let's hear it in his own voice, shall we? Let's <v Speaker 2>hear talk about it to our video and a shoot <v Speaker 2>interview years ago. Here's Bruno on how this run materialized <v Speaker 2>in eighty five and. <v Speaker 12>Actually it correct me if I'm wrong, but you were <v Speaker 12>actually booked to wrestle Holk Hogan back in the day. Correct, <v Speaker 12>I think twice? <v Speaker 2>What are you ready for that? <v Speaker 5>Did you hear what I said? That's fucking nuts. <v Speaker 2>Take a moment because the clip is long after he <v Speaker 2>says that, but take a moment. Hogan versus Bruno in <v Speaker 2>eighty five. <v Speaker 5>I mean, that's the match, but I think I think <v Speaker 5>it would be I think Hogan would be petrified of <v Speaker 5>that match. <v Speaker 2>Why is it the match? <v Speaker 5>Because it's the It's honestly, it's a true passing of <v Speaker 5>the torch match, you know. That's that's that would be huge, <v Speaker 5>Having the two biggest baby faces in the business to <v Speaker 5>go face off like that, that's huge. I agree. <v Speaker 2>I never thought about it till I heard that they <v Speaker 2>kind of tried to do that with Backland to Hogan, Yeah, <v Speaker 2>or Backland was just saying go get him, you know, <v Speaker 2>like Brett says, go get him. Hulk at WrestleMania nine. Right, <v Speaker 2>And we know from covering this over and over again, <v Speaker 2>including in one of those shorter Colisseum video releases that <v Speaker 2>features Bob Beckland versus Iron Cheek, that Bob Backland was <v Speaker 2>opposed to the idea of turning heel which Vince wanted <v Speaker 2>you to put him against Hogan as one of Hogan's <v Speaker 2>earliest opponents as new champion, and basically never came back. <v Speaker 2>He was around for several more months in nineteen eighty <v Speaker 2>four after Hogan dropped the championship, and even headlined The <v Speaker 2>Garden subsequent to that once or twice, but it was <v Speaker 2>never It was never the game plan of Vince Junior <v Speaker 2>to ever go back to the kind of Bob Beckland <v Speaker 2>that his father featured for years in the Garden. This <v Speaker 2>is that that whatever he thought he would get by <v Speaker 2>feuding Backland with Hogan, he would get four times over. <v Speaker 2>I think by having Hogan and Bruno mix it up. <v Speaker 5>Oh, absolutely, that'd be absolutely monumental. <v Speaker 2>Would Bruno do business, I guess is the question? <v Speaker 5>Well, and again, would Bruno do business number one? And <v Speaker 5>what would the reaction really be? <v Speaker 6>Right? <v Speaker 5>Yeah, you know, if you go in Pittsburgh, you go <v Speaker 5>or in the garden, like, who are the fans going <v Speaker 5>to really go for Hogan? Or to me, that's to me, honestly, <v Speaker 5>that's that's a reason to not do it because I <v Speaker 5>think I think Hogan would be in trouble. <v Speaker 2>Do you think the old supporters of Bruno would overwhelm <v Speaker 2>the new supporters. <v Speaker 5>I think I think they could. I think, you know, <v Speaker 5>I think it's possible. I think it's possible. Maybe maybe <v Speaker 5>they were lucky in that they you know, with Hogan, <v Speaker 5>like the fans had already turned out. But I'd say, <v Speaker 5>especially when is this is pre or post WrestleMania. What <v Speaker 5>are you talking about when? Yeah, post post him winning <v Speaker 5>the title, but I think pre WrestleMania, yeah, See, I'd <v Speaker 5>say post WrestleMania would have been more would have been <v Speaker 5>a better time to do it, or it would have <v Speaker 5>been of a risk. I think pre WrestleMania would have <v Speaker 5>been a risk. Yeah, for Hogan's popularity. <v Speaker 2>I think pre WrestleMania was still that period where even <v Speaker 2>though he was drawing very well, he hadn't been champed <v Speaker 2>long enough and the success of WrestleMania one hadn't come <v Speaker 2>across yet, and you know, the working with mister t. <v Speaker 2>You can't overstate how much that actually positioned Hogan, you know, exactly, <v Speaker 2>they saw it all in him in January eighty four, <v Speaker 2>no question, and put him over in seconds, relatively speaking, <v Speaker 2>over ron Chic. But it wasn't until he goes on <v Speaker 2>Richard Belzer, he goes on Saturday Night Live. He is <v Speaker 2>paling around with mister T all over the place when <v Speaker 2>he's one of the hottest stars in television and he's <v Speaker 2>doing all kinds of media and stuff around that, and <v Speaker 2>WrestleMania wants a success in New York City, and then <v Speaker 2>Saturday Night's main event is all built around him. Then <v Speaker 2>you have fulk Cogan established where no, we're not going <v Speaker 2>to fuck around with this. But before that, I'm sure <v Speaker 2>there were moments in eighty four where they were like, ooh, <v Speaker 2>that house is a little soft. You know, Bruno probably <v Speaker 2>would have done better in this town. Yep, exactly, why <v Speaker 2>don't we just do the match? Then, you know, Vince <v Speaker 2>was minded towards matching back and Hogan. You have to <v Speaker 2>think San Martino and Hogan crossed his mind, And according <v Speaker 2>to Samartino here he said, indeed that's the case. So <v Speaker 2>that's unbelievable. We'll take it from the top and actually it. <v Speaker 12>Correct me if I'm wrong, but you were actually booked <v Speaker 12>to wrestle Hok Hogan back in the day, correct, Yeah. <v Speaker 7>I think twice once. I remember for sure, at the <v Speaker 7>Civic Center in the willing West, Virginia, and he didn't <v Speaker 7>show up, no reason why, he just didn't show up, <v Speaker 7>and so I just thought it took his place. He <v Speaker 7>knew what kind of shape I was in, even at <v Speaker 7>that age, because anybody who knew me, they always knew <v Speaker 7>that what kind of shape I was in that drink, <v Speaker 7>and I really believe to this day you knew that <v Speaker 7>I would blow him up in about ten minutes the <v Speaker 7>way you won't be able to catch his breath, and <v Speaker 7>didn't want no part of it. Yeah. <v Speaker 12>Wow, Now that now what led to you coming out <v Speaker 12>of retirement in the mid eighties. When you came out <v Speaker 12>of retirement in the mid eighties, Well. <v Speaker 7>That's an unfortunate situation that happened with me. I had <v Speaker 7>a son who was wrestling and he wanted to come <v Speaker 7>into the He came to the WWF. Vince mickmahon wanted <v Speaker 7>him there. I didn't know what I was going to <v Speaker 7>be set up for. And unfortunately I got cut myself <v Speaker 7>in the situation that made me very upset, even angry. <v Speaker 7>But I felt at the time that there was too <v Speaker 7>much I could do about it, and that is that <v Speaker 7>when my son came here, Vince McMahon, some of the clubs, <v Speaker 7>by the way, Hogan was the champion, were already slipping, <v Speaker 7>like Boston was already down, Philadelphia was down, Pittsburgh was done. <v Speaker 7>McMahon asked me to put on the tights again. I said, well, <v Speaker 7>you got to be kidding at my age, you know, <v Speaker 7>I said no. So I think somebody went to David <v Speaker 7>and they told David my son. They said, it's too <v Speaker 7>bad your father won't put on the tights, because that <v Speaker 7>could be a great thing for you, you and your <v Speaker 7>dad as a tack team. He said, that would be <v Speaker 7>a good, great springboard for you to get up there. <v Speaker 7>So my kid came to me, so Saz, He says, <v Speaker 7>they want to loss is a team, and you won't <v Speaker 7>do it. I said, David, I'm an old guy for this, <v Speaker 7>I said. I said, then, besides, if they want to <v Speaker 7>do something with you, I said, they could do with <v Speaker 7>you like they're doing with everybody else. Put your on TV. <v Speaker 7>You look good, do your best, be the best you <v Speaker 7>can be, and that's how you become. You know, if <v Speaker 7>you have I said I have to, why not? So <v Speaker 7>I never wanted to be said because my son and <v Speaker 7>I already had certain issues. I don't want it to <v Speaker 7>be said that because of me and not willing to <v Speaker 7>do whatever, that he may have not gotten the opportunity. <v Speaker 7>So I put tights back on. That's how that came about. <v Speaker 7>There was no comeback. I don't even I even erased <v Speaker 7>that from my life. But I came back to work. <v Speaker 7>Supposedly a few matches would be me and David in <v Speaker 7>Boston Tag Team, we wrestle Tag Team, and even in <v Speaker 7>the Garden and other places that's Burgh, Philadelphia. And then <v Speaker 7>when we had completed that, I'd be back to strictly, <v Speaker 7>said commentator. But what was happening with David is he'd <v Speaker 7>be back as a preliminary and he would get angry <v Speaker 7>and upset and he would leave. Well that's what in <v Speaker 7>my opinion, that's what McMahon wanted, because now he knew <v Speaker 7>that in order for David to come back, I would <v Speaker 7>have to meet his demands and what and his demands <v Speaker 7>was to have met in tides again. And on other side, <v Speaker 7>he would ask me to wrestle here and there, and <v Speaker 7>I could say no, because I would talk to my <v Speaker 7>son and I say, what are you doing. If you <v Speaker 7>want to be a wrestler, then you've got to stick <v Speaker 7>with it. If not, get out, I'll be back, I'll <v Speaker 7>promise is. So I would meet McMahon's demands and put <v Speaker 7>ome tizes and I hated it. <v Speaker 5>I despised. <v Speaker 7>I was angry about the whole thing. And then again, <v Speaker 7>I'm seeing stuff with these guys, what they were doing, <v Speaker 7>habits they had. I said, man, I got to get <v Speaker 7>As I told my kid, I said, you make up <v Speaker 7>your mind whether you're going to be a wrestler or <v Speaker 7>get out of the business. But I got to I'm <v Speaker 7>out of here. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, And I got out. <v Speaker 7>And of course when I got out, they played him <v Speaker 7>a little bit dirty. Even though David didn't use his <v Speaker 7>own head. He got into something scramble somebody in some <v Speaker 7>place in New York, and McMahon had a release put <v Speaker 7>on the paper that because of this, uh, I don't <v Speaker 7>remember behavior something like that. He got into a fight, yeah, <v Speaker 7>which weich shouldn't have never done. I don't go down <v Speaker 7>that at all that he had to be terminated. At <v Speaker 7>the same time, he had Macho Man, who was made <v Speaker 7>the news all over for hitting a thirteen year old <v Speaker 7>kid in Florida. I don't know if you remember that, <v Speaker 7>you remember that he had the other guys, which I <v Speaker 7>don't even. <v Speaker 6>Want to mention. <v Speaker 7>I'll mention that jerk, but I want to mention the <v Speaker 7>other guys that had similar, bigger problems than what anything <v Speaker 7>David dot. But David was a guy who got of <v Speaker 7>course that was Mikeman's again way and uh and so, <v Speaker 7>but you know, then I got out, but I never <v Speaker 7>considered that I comeback. It was a situation that I <v Speaker 7>was put into that I didn't want no part of it, <v Speaker 7>but that I felt that I had no choice at <v Speaker 7>the time. Yeah, but it was very resentful. That's very, <v Speaker 7>very resentful. <v Speaker 2>There's the whole story pretty much wow of how he <v Speaker 2>came back. And yeah, we did talk about that in <v Speaker 2>the Bruno tribute. There was some deal where David had <v Speaker 2>a scuffle with a fan at a live event and <v Speaker 2>the WWF like made a point of issuing a press <v Speaker 2>release saying that they had suspended or whatever it was, <v Speaker 2>disciplined David Sanmartino, which seemed very out of character and <v Speaker 2>that you know, you wouldn't you wouldn't volunteer that to <v Speaker 2>the media, right. I'm not sure the full context was <v Speaker 2>that they volunteered it, but it came off like they <v Speaker 2>took the time to issue a press release instead of <v Speaker 2>just you know, confirming a reporter's inquiry. And yeah, I <v Speaker 2>mean that would that would that would resonate, and it <v Speaker 2>would even come up when Vince confronted Berno Simartino or <v Speaker 2>vice versa on the Larry King Show in nineteen ninety <v Speaker 2>two around the steroid controversies or nineteen ninety one, I <v Speaker 2>think it was. We'll play a clip of that once again, <v Speaker 2>as we played during Bruno Simertino's tribute show in twenty eighteen. <v Speaker 2>But suffice to say, there was some sore feelings already <v Speaker 2>between Vince and Bruno Jesus and Bruno did not come <v Speaker 2>out of retirement because he was inspired to try to <v Speaker 2>have another run, but rather because he didn't want people <v Speaker 2>blaming his son's failure on the fact that he was <v Speaker 2>unwilling to help. And if that last article we read <v Speaker 2>as an indication some of the electricity we feel boss <v Speaker 2>in that cage match and in some of the eighty <v Speaker 2>six matches we see here on this Colosseum home video release. <v Speaker 2>The people turned out to see Bruno. It's not like <v Speaker 2>he it's not like he didn't see reason to actually <v Speaker 2>lean into a return. It's not like he came back <v Speaker 2>to crickets, you know. <v Speaker 5>No, he did okay for himself. <v Speaker 2>And I just can't stop coming back to this idea <v Speaker 2>of Hogan versus Bruno in this time period, and like <v Speaker 2>where were the fans, Like had the fan base turned <v Speaker 2>over enough that in most towns like Wheeling, West Virginia, <v Speaker 2>that is a fascinating place to do that match because <v Speaker 2>you don't have those Bruno died in the Wold loyalists necessarily. <v Speaker 2>It's right, exactly, it's getting closer to the mid Atlantic <v Speaker 2>area where Bruno was never particularly strong, and a market <v Speaker 2>that presumably you know, rock and wrestling in Hulcamania is <v Speaker 2>sweeping over. Who do they support? Like that's I want <v Speaker 2>to know Bruno versus Hulk, not in the Garden or <v Speaker 2>in Philadelphia spectrum. I want to know Hogan versus Bruno <v Speaker 2>in Omaha, Nebraska, or Saint Louis or you know a <v Speaker 2>town where they're they're both coming in an even footing, <v Speaker 2>who's able to get the bigger reaction, who's able to <v Speaker 2>come off as the the mighty or superhero. <v Speaker 5>And that's that is exactly, That's the thing that that's <v Speaker 5>that's where I'm fascinated. I refascinated by that. I mean, <v Speaker 5>I honestly, I I do wonder it would it could <v Speaker 5>have and probably one of the reasons why it didn't happen. <v Speaker 5>It probably would have changed the direction of the company <v Speaker 5>depending on what happened. <v Speaker 2>I think so. Yeah. Now, Bruno, of course didn't come <v Speaker 2>back to wrestle from the sidelines or from the bench. <v Speaker 2>He was working for the w WF as an announcer, <v Speaker 2>wearing a canary yellow blazer with the w w F <v Speaker 2>logo on it and holding holding those long neck. <v Speaker 5>I give you some some fashion advice. I'm very up <v Speaker 5>to date with fashion. Is you want to stand out <v Speaker 5>when you walk into a room exactly you want to <v Speaker 5>You want to be the guy, the center of attention, <v Speaker 5>no matter where you are. I mean, when we're on <v Speaker 5>TV together, we need to battle for a center of attention, <v Speaker 5>you know, And honestly, right now, the way I am, <v Speaker 5>I'm going to smoke you out of the building. <v Speaker 2>Because I actually have diction. I'm not an accented fool <v Speaker 2>like you don't. You know, I don't have a dumb <v Speaker 2>Italian accent. I'm gonna a piece of shit wop like <v Speaker 2>you are. Come on, Jesus Christ, Vince JP is Italian, <v Speaker 2>so we can get away with it. But yeah, so <v Speaker 2>the announcing thing is a significant shift as well, as <v Speaker 2>mentioned before, they're getting Jesse ready to be, you know, <v Speaker 2>basically the voice of WWF television. Whether he's sharing the <v Speaker 2>booth with Vince mc mann or Grilla monsoon is kind <v Speaker 2>of a lesser consideration. But you know who wasn't a <v Speaker 2>huge fan of Bruno cycling out as Jesse rose up <v Speaker 2>was Jesse Wow, because he thought a Jesse Bruno booth would. <v Speaker 5>Have been the best and that that could have been intriguing. <v Speaker 2>Here he is speaking to our video Jesse Ventura, that <v Speaker 2>is about the possibility and what he considered a missed <v Speaker 2>opportunity to do something with Bruno on commentary. <v Speaker 1>Interview with Brunos Arbertino, and he said he felt like <v Speaker 1>he was pushed out as an announcer. <v Speaker 4>Do you agree? <v Speaker 6>Yeah? And I begged Vince to keep him. I begged <v Speaker 6>Vince don't lose Bruno. He's my foil. Bruno's perfect. I <v Speaker 6>wanted Bruno to stay, all right, because I loved Bruno. <v Speaker 6>Bruno was so Bruno's so honest and in a way <v Speaker 6>naive on the mic. He was phenomenal because I remember <v Speaker 6>one time he says pushing. Bruno goes, well, I'm going <v Speaker 6>to go to wrestle Mania. I can't wait to go there. <v Speaker 6>Get it? And I said, how you getting there? Bruno? <v Speaker 6>The hound? And he goes, what's the hound? I said, <v Speaker 6>the greyhound bus and goes bus trained plane. <v Speaker 5>I don't care, you've got there. <v Speaker 6>He was so wooden right right that off of me. <v Speaker 6>It was perfect. And when Vince was getting rid of <v Speaker 6>I beg, Vince, don't lose Bruno. I love Bruno. Bruno's <v Speaker 6>the guy. He's my foil, right right, you know. But <v Speaker 6>you know again there was so I can honestly tell <v Speaker 6>you I did not cause Bruno to leave. I wanted <v Speaker 6>Bruno to stay. <v Speaker 5>The hound, I mean, who calls it the hound? I <v Speaker 5>mean that's just that's Jesse setting him up right there. <v Speaker 5>That's beautiful, that's beautiful. <v Speaker 2>What's the hound? There's no clue then, but it's that <v Speaker 2>that kind of wooden response that you were talking about <v Speaker 2>when he's going shot for shot with Roddy Piper and <v Speaker 2>Alive Mike. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, exactly. It's just it's like you get no clue <v Speaker 5>how to fucking and to how to how to do that. <v Speaker 5>This is great in its own way. <v Speaker 1>The Last Fall Wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that knows <v Speaker 1>the boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. He's <v Speaker 1>a Lapsed Fan wrestling podcast with Jack and Carnacio and <v Speaker 1>JP Soorro. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, apparently Jesse felt like you could do a lot <v Speaker 2>with it. Now Jesse and Bruno booth doesn't work because <v Speaker 2>Bruno was not a play by play man, right, Maybe <v Speaker 2>a three man booth with Vince between the two that <v Speaker 2>could be some fun. Have them argue h Jesse and <v Speaker 2>Bruno over whether the face was in the right or <v Speaker 2>the heel was in the right, with Vince kind of <v Speaker 2>playing a referee instead of having to be the person, <v Speaker 2>which is awkward, honestly for a play by play guy <v Speaker 2>to stand up for the baby face like as much <v Speaker 2>as he used to and as much as Guerrilla used to. <v Speaker 2>I could see a three man booth really working. <v Speaker 5>Well, Yeah, I think that'd be great. <v Speaker 2>Bruno clinging to that, you know, that old school way <v Speaker 2>of doing it the right way and all that. But <v Speaker 2>it wasn't to be. But Jesse wants you to know <v Speaker 2>it wasn't on his It wasn't. Even though Bruno's dissent <v Speaker 2>correlated with Jesse's assent on the commentary he had, it <v Speaker 2>was not his desired outcome. Here's a little more from <v Speaker 2>Bruno on this whole transition period. <v Speaker 12>Thing is the way that you wanted to do things. <v Speaker 7>Keep in mind this is the period that I'm talking <v Speaker 7>about that I didn't want no part of this and <v Speaker 7>that so I went in the ring with the attitude <v Speaker 7>of to get this thing over best I can. And <v Speaker 7>I'm not going to lie about this. I felt that <v Speaker 7>it was a different time. I didn't feel like it <v Speaker 7>was anything like my time what I'd experienced. So I'm <v Speaker 7>doing what I felt that I needed that to do. <v Speaker 7>But I didn't care for any of it, whether it <v Speaker 7>be the wrestlers that I wrestled with or anybody I <v Speaker 7>just did. My heart wasn't any in anything of it. <v Speaker 7>So at this comparison that you're telling me too, I <v Speaker 7>never thought of anything like that. I just knew how <v Speaker 7>disgusted and now much. I didn't want to be do <v Speaker 7>this and be this. And the only thing is which <v Speaker 7>was a slap on Hogan's face that he should be <v Speaker 7>ashamed of himself that he talked to somebody thought. I <v Speaker 7>went in there with Savage and we sold out Boston. <v Speaker 12>That's where he did Russell Savage in Boston. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, we sold it out. <v Speaker 7>And Hogan had been there and he was done to. <v Speaker 7>I don't know nothing. I mean, he wasn't drunk and <v Speaker 7>he had just don't the belt. Yeah, and he and <v Speaker 7>here he already McMahon needs help in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and <v Speaker 7>Hogan's a champion put in joke. So but anyway, No, <v Speaker 7>I never felt good about wrestling any of those guys, <v Speaker 7>the truth, I know the truth that never felt very <v Speaker 7>good about it. <v Speaker 12>Yeah, was there was there anyone out because you wrestled <v Speaker 12>everybody at that time, You wrestled Savage, Piper, Orned or Adonis, everybody. <v Speaker 12>Was there anybody in particular that that that you liked <v Speaker 12>wrestling where you were just so disgusted to even be <v Speaker 12>put back in there that you didn't really I. <v Speaker 7>Didn't like to wrestle any of them. But I will <v Speaker 7>say this that Orndorf, I will give it. I have <v Speaker 7>to say this about Wrendorf. He got he worked, He <v Speaker 7>was a hard worker, and I rank this guy went <v Speaker 7>in there and he gave it his all. I mean, <v Speaker 7>he was a hard Nobody could accuse this guy. I'm <v Speaker 7>not suggesting that necessarily the other guys weren't right, because <v Speaker 7>a lot of them were, you know, all honestly for <v Speaker 7>their style, for whatever they did, they were. Orndorf was <v Speaker 7>was a hard, solid guy. But I wrestled him. I <v Speaker 7>wrestled Macho Man, wrestled the hyper Bip. Yeah, Honky tongue Man. Yeah, <v Speaker 7>I wrestled all those guys. <v Speaker 2>Bruno versus Honky Tonk Man, Oh my god, please know? <v Speaker 2>Uh Thence dude, how's it going, brother? <v Speaker 5>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>You know here on gun Club Road, Dude, just kicking <v Speaker 2>back and I heard you called Bruno for for the spectrum? Brother, <v Speaker 2>is that true? <v Speaker 5>Like, what's going on? Dude? <v Speaker 6>What? <v Speaker 2>Well? Now you know there's something there. That response never <v Speaker 2>gets him off the hook, but he still deploys it <v Speaker 2>in a moment of panic. Brother, I mean, you know, <v Speaker 2>is Hulk Cogan not enough? <v Speaker 6>What? <v Speaker 5>That's the thing. <v Speaker 2>I mean, You're more than enough. <v Speaker 5>That's the problem like you you are, you are your <v Speaker 5>Hulk Hogan, so you're all over the place, and uh, <v Speaker 5>you know, at times we need to be thinking about <v Speaker 5>other Uh if we're if we're making as much money <v Speaker 5>with Hulk Hogan, imagine who you know, what we could <v Speaker 5>be doing with a with a has been, like a <v Speaker 5>Brunos Hamartino. And you know, maybe we're out there, you know, <v Speaker 5>covering different areas. You know, we'll have you obviously be <v Speaker 5>at the best cities because you're a hul Cogan and <v Speaker 5>you're the champion, and we believe in things like yourself. <v Speaker 5>And what we do is we have then Bruno Sammartino <v Speaker 5>in the in the c D may b F city. <v Speaker 5>He's where you know, we're not going to get much money. <v Speaker 5>Uh anyway, so we might as well put a guy <v Speaker 5>like Brunos Hammartino out there and maybe we'll make a <v Speaker 5>little bit less. <v Speaker 2>I'm just asking, brother, maybe a little less emphasis on <v Speaker 2>the has bends and a little more on the hasbros. Brother, Well, <v Speaker 2>you know what, we're has brothers. <v Speaker 5>How about that? <v Speaker 2>Huh Uh? <v Speaker 5>You know, we believe in providing an entertainment factor. <v Speaker 2>For Okay, hold on, he says to Hulk in the <v Speaker 2>middle of this conversation. You know, we believe in providing <v Speaker 2>an entertainment factor. He starts reading to him. He starts <v Speaker 2>reading the corporate speak to Hogan in a personal phone call. <v Speaker 2>That's when you know you got Vince in the corner <v Speaker 2>when he pulls out an earnings call transcript and starts <v Speaker 2>reading it. Someone give me a ten k give it. <v Speaker 2>We heard the world rossing entertainment or. <v Speaker 5>You know, you know, mister Hogan, we hear world rossling entertainment. <v Speaker 5>We believe in providing him, uh, you know, a genuine <v Speaker 5>entertaining experience for a number of multitude of individuals, A multitude, <v Speaker 5>not many people, but a multitude of individuals on any <v Speaker 5>given day, exactly how he talks. You've been internalizing you <v Speaker 5>much longer than you realize. It's a freaking Jesus grist <v Speaker 5>for ten years. <v Speaker 2>You just said, used to matter in your writing style <v Speaker 2>after his. <v Speaker 5>It's true, absolutely, it's very true. It's a good point. <v Speaker 5>And even yeah, exactly, you know, I listen, I mean <v Speaker 5>his his way of speaking, I mean many things. Yeah, <v Speaker 5>you know, I grew up mostly with him doing commentary <v Speaker 5>more than anybody else. A multitude of individuals on any <v Speaker 5>given day. How fucking brilliant is that? Jesus, there's a <v Speaker 5>little bit, there's a little bit more taste of a <v Speaker 5>board essence of Brune, a little Oregano on this essense. <v Speaker 10>Of Brue only just saying I'm gone, I'm not doing <v Speaker 10>this any I was very concerned when I was WWF <v Speaker 10>because I felt that the drug situation was serious, and <v Speaker 10>I was always worried about that. <v Speaker 7>And in fact, I had to go to on a <v Speaker 7>little tour where I had to go to Texas. I went, <v Speaker 7>I had to go to Arizona. I had three shots <v Speaker 7>in Arizona, tu Song in Phoenix. I had to go <v Speaker 7>to Albuquerque, in New Mexico or Paso, Texas. I think Jackson, Mississippi, <v Speaker 7>if I'm not sure. And when mcmack told me about <v Speaker 7>these stuff, I told him right out, I said no, <v Speaker 7>I said, I will not because what happens when you <v Speaker 7>get the airport they you should do rent cars, and <v Speaker 7>then you drove to these arenas where I said, no, <v Speaker 7>I don't want to be writing with anybody. EL said, <v Speaker 7>because if a car gets stopped and they find drugs <v Speaker 7>or something in the car and I'm in that car, <v Speaker 7>I'm going to be put in the same as everybody else, <v Speaker 7>I said, and I will not do that. So he says, <v Speaker 7>so I'll tell you what I'll do that. I'll send <v Speaker 7>Jay Strongbow. <v Speaker 5>It was straight. You know, he wasn't one of that clients. <v Speaker 7>He says, it's the agent, and he'll rent the car <v Speaker 7>and then just the two of you we'll we'll drive <v Speaker 7>and under those conditions, I agreed. But the matter of <v Speaker 7>the fact is that I knew I had to get <v Speaker 7>away because first of all, I knew some nasty had <v Speaker 7>to happen. And Rick Quick Quick mcrad, wasn't it right? <v Speaker 7>He died, He was a very ago died because of <v Speaker 7>the drugs. And then jor Hernandez followed, and then a <v Speaker 7>bunch of other people followed. I said no, I said, <v Speaker 7>Jesus wow. <v Speaker 12>How did Vince take it when when you when you quit? <v Speaker 5>Was was Vin's upset or did he understand? Well? <v Speaker 7>First of all, I tried to call him three or <v Speaker 7>four times to let him know what I was doing, <v Speaker 7>and he would talk to me. I talked to Pat Patterson, <v Speaker 7>I said, I want to talk to this said, what <v Speaker 7>what is it? <v Speaker 5>What do you want to tell him? I want to <v Speaker 5>come that I'm believe in why. <v Speaker 7>I said, well, I'd rather talk to him about it, <v Speaker 7>you know this one then, well said I talk I <v Speaker 7>talked to everybody by him. I loved. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 12>Did they try and get you to come back either's <v Speaker 12>a commentator or anything like that? <v Speaker 4>No, no, they not. <v Speaker 2>Well why do you want to leave Bruno? Can you <v Speaker 2>imagine that? <v Speaker 10>Like? <v Speaker 2>Why why Patterson pretending everything's great? <v Speaker 5>You know, I know, Oh my god, oh my god, <v Speaker 5>you hit. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, right, he's he's dead, He's he's dead, right, I mean, <v Speaker 2>look what happened with Iron chi Can and Hexadgium Duggan <v Speaker 2>exactly with the ship in their car, like he called it. <v Speaker 2>Rick McGraw was the canary in the coal mine. We <v Speaker 2>talked about his death when we did Trial of his life. Yes, <v Speaker 2>as how like this can be like this drug thing, <v Speaker 2>there's bodies, so let's not act like there's not bodies <v Speaker 2>already and Hernandez won, I mean, these are obviously recreational drugs. <v Speaker 2>But McGraw was gassed to the gills too, and and <v Speaker 2>there was some level, I mean that was part of <v Speaker 2>you remember, that was part of why people like what <v Speaker 2>was her name, Anita Scales in the office we're kind <v Speaker 2>of looking askance at at a a's a horient because, yeah, <v Speaker 2>Rick McGraw died, you know, amidst the over prescribing of <v Speaker 2>this stuff that was happening, or the illegitimate prescribing of <v Speaker 2>the stuff that was happening, and they were connecting wrestlers <v Speaker 2>getting stuff that was putting them on death's door with him, Jesus, <v Speaker 2>and so Sammartino, somebody who really was anti drug his <v Speaker 2>whole life and participated in anti drug causes and never <v Speaker 2>really took steroids or anything like that as far as <v Speaker 2>we know, as far as he would ever admit, saw this. <v Speaker 2>Not only not only is this the exact opposite of <v Speaker 2>the pro wrestling I used to do and specialize in, <v Speaker 2>but these guys are doing fucking cocaine everywhere. Could not <v Speaker 2>be more anti old school Italian Bruno, you know what <v Speaker 2>I mean. And he's watching his son fall total victim <v Speaker 2>to it on top of it, you know, classic like <v Speaker 2>Nepo baby, you know, go right for the cocaine table <v Speaker 2>kind of thing. <v Speaker 5>Yep. <v Speaker 2>So it's it's not a great time. This this tape <v Speaker 2>kind of stands as a very strange monument to a <v Speaker 2>to a time in Bruno's career that he never talked <v Speaker 2>favorably about even a little bit. And he's wrestling before <v Speaker 2>huge crowds, and he's wrestling the top heels in the <v Speaker 2>industry at the time, like Savage and pipe orn Orf, <v Speaker 2>and the crowds are there and he's getting a great reaction, <v Speaker 2>and he's making probably more money than he had in <v Speaker 2>years in the business, and he fucking hates it. He <v Speaker 2>wants to erase it. He wants to pretend he never <v Speaker 2>even had these matches that we're talking about, and that <v Speaker 2>this Colisseum home video release stands as a testament too. <v Speaker 2>So that's that's that reality, boss. <v Speaker 5>I love it, and that's it that I mean, like, <v Speaker 5>it's it's amazing to me to hear about someone like <v Speaker 5>him who is like wants to not even acknowledge this <v Speaker 5>fact when in reality he's getting he's getting so much <v Speaker 5>extra exposure that he probably would never have gotten. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, he's he's watching a WWF that's on national television, <v Speaker 2>Like right, he would you couldn't have dreamt of that <v Speaker 2>in his highest time period in the garden. But it's <v Speaker 2>just not not something that was appealing or enticing to him. <v Speaker 2>What they had, what they felt they had to do <v Speaker 2>to trojan horse their way into that pop culture world <v Speaker 2>was just like antithetical to everything he was about. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>and so we mentioned the issue with David Sanmartino having <v Speaker 2>that fight and Bruno mentioning Vince holding it against him <v Speaker 2>and playing sort of like a political game with it, <v Speaker 2>that that would fester, and that would sit there and <v Speaker 2>that would bubble to the surface. As Vince sits there <v Speaker 2>in the hot seat on the Larry King Show amidst <v Speaker 2>all of the allegations and the grand jury subpoenas are <v Speaker 2>starting to come out, indicating that one day Vince himself <v Speaker 2>will be indicted. BERNESSA. Martino comes on to rant and <v Speaker 2>rave and Vince can help, but burp up the deal. <v Speaker 13>David story this this organization has been so infested with <v Speaker 13>sterroid's use and abuse and other drugs that it's a <v Speaker 13>joke what he's. <v Speaker 2>Saying, Well, why did to day? <v Speaker 13>Why is it a joke? <v Speaker 2>You know, you haven't been in a locker room in <v Speaker 2>five years? <v Speaker 13>Why is that a joke? <v Speaker 2>You don't have any idea what you know what? You <v Speaker 2>never were there firing your son and they went. <v Speaker 13>Up into the stands and beat somebody up. <v Speaker 1>With you. <v Speaker 13>You never forgave me for that. <v Speaker 5>You probably never forgotten yourself when your own gun was <v Speaker 5>using steroids as well. <v Speaker 2>You got that one into Yeah, let me tell you, Larrys. <v Speaker 13>You can't keep this guy to shut his face because <v Speaker 13>he doesn't want me to talk. I was there still <v Speaker 13>with the w W f Onen, the head was there. <v Speaker 4>They used to line up a long line week must happen. <v Speaker 13>Everybody on the goodies and they fly, and then as <v Speaker 13>Charlotte came. But even when they became illegal, McMahon, here, <v Speaker 13>it's live shipment. This has got grand jurty, a grand <v Speaker 13>jury at the records of all the steroids deliveries to <v Speaker 13>Titan Sports, to hof Cogan and many many wrestlers have <v Speaker 13>signed these receipts that pay for this guy, suggesting that <v Speaker 13>well before it was legal, then it became illegals. Why <v Speaker 13>Za Harry is in jail Because when it became illegal, <v Speaker 13>they were still ordering and supplying these guys. And when <v Speaker 13>I said ninety percent of these wrestles were a steroids, <v Speaker 13>believe me, I was being extremely, extremely, extremely conservative. How <v Speaker 13>would you go ninety because I was a weak lefter <v Speaker 13>for many years and right now present and you're going <v Speaker 13>to tell me a group barbarian a Smith that Justice <v Speaker 13>their office, the. <v Speaker 5>Right barbarian David Justice, Oh my god of all fucking people, <v Speaker 5>and what time would be alive? That was man when <v Speaker 5>Vince's on the hot seat and thought he could, you know, <v Speaker 5>Carnival Barker his way through it by actually making himself available. Sorry, pal, <v Speaker 5>so pissed off on the sidelines failing. <v Speaker 2>You know what, We don't talk about Brunos, just like that. <v Speaker 2>I remember all those years ago me to do Tom Fleming. <v Speaker 2>He used to be an artist for them, and yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 2>the mural and the loud speaker. From from now on, <v Speaker 2>we are to not mention. <v Speaker 5>From now on, were to mention Bruno san Martino. We <v Speaker 5>don't talk about him. He never existed. <v Speaker 2>We got a tape going out the door. <v Speaker 5>You don't, you don't. We're going to rename it. It's <v Speaker 5>going to be about it's going to be. <v Speaker 2>San mars tomatoes, and. <v Speaker 5>It's going to be about uh uh Fabrizio's San Marzano <v Speaker 5>tomatoes that we've used in the ring for development of <v Speaker 5>talent and uh other dinner endeavors. But we will not <v Speaker 5>have a Bruno Sammartino tape. So if we have it, <v Speaker 5>we take it out, we eat it and call it <v Speaker 5>a day. <v Speaker 2>Call it a day. Well, Bruno was quick to call <v Speaker 2>it a day after this run on the WWF, and <v Speaker 2>we turn finally to his book for a little bit <v Speaker 2>of an overall perspective on what this meant from soup <v Speaker 2>to Night's Love It. After Vince passed on, his son, <v Speaker 2>Vince Junior came charging to the forefront and took over <v Speaker 2>his late father's wrestling business. Actually, Vince Junior had been <v Speaker 2>running the show for quite some time while his father <v Speaker 2>had been getting progressively worse. Toward the middle of that summer, <v Speaker 2>Vince Junior called me and posed a question to me, <v Speaker 2>how would I like to come back to wrestling as <v Speaker 2>a television color commentator. That's exactly what I'd done for <v Speaker 2>his father back in nineteen seventy eight, and I'd really <v Speaker 2>enjoyed it at the time. His offer caught my interest. <v Speaker 2>Then Vince Junior added the kicker. He said that he <v Speaker 2>would be willing to give my son David a break <v Speaker 2>and bring him into the WWF. That would mark a <v Speaker 2>real beginning for David, because even though he'd been at <v Speaker 2>it for several years, he still wasn't wrestling for any <v Speaker 2>big organization. I considered the arrangement and said yes to it. First, <v Speaker 2>it would be an important step forward for David to <v Speaker 2>hook up a Vince June. You're in second. I could <v Speaker 2>sit back and comment on the action instead of being <v Speaker 2>right in the middle of it. <v Speaker 5>Right, definitely not going to listen. He's going to just <v Speaker 5>sit back, all right. That's definitely what definitely has the <v Speaker 5>key thing for him. As long as I can sit back, <v Speaker 5>we're all good. <v Speaker 2>Could I bring my barka lounger. The other added benefit <v Speaker 2>was that the shows were taped only every three weeks, <v Speaker 2>so I wouldn't have to hit the road that often. <v Speaker 2>It sounded great. After David started with the WWF and <v Speaker 2>I had begun my commentator's role, McMahon approached David with <v Speaker 2>an idea. He said, your dad is still in better <v Speaker 2>shape than most of the guys out there today. Of course, <v Speaker 2>he said, you don't flatter yourself Bruno, Yeah right, I <v Speaker 2>mean these guys were fucking juice to the gills. There's <v Speaker 2>no way, he said. He's still lifting. He's running seven <v Speaker 2>and eight miles every day. Even though his weights down. <v Speaker 2>He could put back ten pounds and not be flabby. <v Speaker 2>What I'm saying is, why don't you when he team <v Speaker 2>up for tag team matches, it'd be one of a kind, <v Speaker 2>you know, father and son. Well, even though I wasn't <v Speaker 2>thrilled with the idea, I didn't want to be the <v Speaker 2>reason for David not getting ahead and professional wrestling, so <v Speaker 2>I accepted his idea and markin I. <v Speaker 5>Mean, I hate to say it, but there was nothing <v Speaker 5>he there was nothing that Bruno could do that wouldn't <v Speaker 5>deter his son. His son was screwed by being the <v Speaker 5>son of Dave of Brunos Hammartino. His son was screwed <v Speaker 5>by just not having any charisma and not having a <v Speaker 5>particularly good sure ring presence. He wasn't a wrestler, but <v Speaker 5>even if he did, okay, he was screwed by being <v Speaker 5>the son of Brunos Hammartino. Honestly, I mean I think, <v Speaker 5>actually I think he's a good actor. But it's like <v Speaker 5>Colin Hanks, how do you be the son of Tom Hanks? <v Speaker 2>Good luck with that, you know, like you know, you're <v Speaker 2>just not going. <v Speaker 5>To be able to have you know. And again I <v Speaker 5>think Colin Hanks is great, but he's not Tom Hanks. <v Speaker 2>And He dressed exactly like his father and tried to <v Speaker 2>have the exact same barrel chested appeal as his father, <v Speaker 2>and this just wasn't gonna happen. In March nineteen eighty five, <v Speaker 2>David and I joined up as a tag team for <v Speaker 2>the first time. We wrestled together in Philadelphia and the <v Speaker 2>place sold out. I remember getting goosebumps from the crowd's <v Speaker 2>cheers though I hadn't been in there for four years. <v Speaker 2>The fans gave me a standing ovation when we entered. <v Speaker 2>It was something that touched me and energized me. When <v Speaker 2>I went into the ring, I wanted to be the <v Speaker 2>Bruno Simartino that everyone remembered. Of course, I'm not going <v Speaker 2>to claim that suddenly I was transformed into the old Bruno, <v Speaker 2>but I went in there with my old spirit and <v Speaker 2>did the best I could the Bruno slap him in <v Speaker 2>the face of the pool table. Under the circumstances, it <v Speaker 2>turned out to be a good match, and David did <v Speaker 2>very well for himself. David and I played Philadelphia, played <v Speaker 2>played Philadelphia, that's right, a couple more times, and we <v Speaker 2>were Pittsburgh, New York, and Boston that year. After that <v Speaker 2>short swing through those Cities had decided again that I <v Speaker 2>had had enough and took off the tights once more. Well, <v Speaker 2>when I did this, David had a peculiar reaction. He <v Speaker 2>started to act out, saying that now he felt he <v Speaker 2>had been used. He said to me, Dad, you know <v Speaker 2>it's true. The only time I'm a headliner is when <v Speaker 2>I wrestle with you. But the tag team dissolved, I'm <v Speaker 2>just back to being a preliminary boy. <v Speaker 5>Wow, is that what the preliminary boy? <v Speaker 2>It's making me mad. David got depressed about Autist and <v Speaker 2>began to behave quite unreasonably. He got to be very <v Speaker 2>confused about it all. One day he would quit wrestling, <v Speaker 2>and the next day he would want to come back. <v Speaker 2>He told me, once, I know what my role is here. <v Speaker 2>The promoters just want me around so that anytime they <v Speaker 2>want you to put the tights back on, they call me. <v Speaker 2>But really they just use me to get you back <v Speaker 2>into the ring. Then when the match is over, I <v Speaker 2>stopped being Bruno's son. I'm back to being David Nobody <v Speaker 2>when we weren't wrestling together. I tried to tell him <v Speaker 2>that's absolutely accurate. Now I try to tell him that <v Speaker 2>because the game had changed, since my day, we had <v Speaker 2>to face facts. Look, David, the WWF is now the <v Speaker 2>only act in town. And my day the country was <v Speaker 2>divided up into territories and different promoters at the northeast, <v Speaker 2>the Midwest, the south, and and oh my god, I <v Speaker 2>mean Jesus Christ Junior holds the keys to success. You <v Speaker 2>have to play ball with him while you're out. Ever <v Speaker 2>since the death of his father McMahon, Junior had become <v Speaker 2>a very aggressive promoter. He'd expanded to the point where <v Speaker 2>he was gobbling up everybody's territory all across the country. <v Speaker 2>If you wanted to wrestle in the big leagues, you <v Speaker 2>had to deal with Vince Junior. David's other option was <v Speaker 2>the National Wrestling Alliance, still active but certainly not as <v Speaker 2>big as the WWF. Frankly, I don't think the NWBA <v Speaker 2>really considered putting David on its rosters a little bit <v Speaker 2>because I was still with the WWF. I think they <v Speaker 2>actually did, unless I'm thinking of Georgia Championship in eighty <v Speaker 2>two when Bruno came through and had a couple of feuds, <v Speaker 2>which is too much to handle. Thinking of Bruno and Georgia, <v Speaker 2>I know on TBS, no less and it was Sammartino <v Speaker 2>and Zebesco came in and they tried to recreate the <v Speaker 2>the Bruno's Obisco feud for Atlanta for the Atlanta market. <v Speaker 2>It didn't really work, but I'm pretty sure David went <v Speaker 2>for a little while. I know he went to the <v Speaker 2>AWA after the WWF shitcandem and after that aforementioned fight. <v Speaker 2>I feel like he did work for Crockett for a <v Speaker 2>brief moment. But anyway, when McMahon junior asked me to <v Speaker 2>start accepting matches yet another time, I found myself in <v Speaker 2>a strange position. Even though I despised the circumstances, I <v Speaker 2>felt I had to go along with Vince Junior for <v Speaker 2>David's sake. If I cooperated with him, and then if <v Speaker 2>David wanted to come back professionally, I would be able <v Speaker 2>to say to Vince Junior, I realized that David's made <v Speaker 2>a few mistakes in judgment. He'd like to make amends <v Speaker 2>and give it another shot. How about another chance for him? <v Speaker 2>I reasoned that McMahon Junior would take David back into <v Speaker 2>the fold, because certainly, if he expected me to go <v Speaker 2>along with his requests, then Vince Junior would have to <v Speaker 2>respect my wishes. We played this tune several times, and <v Speaker 2>each time David would climb back into the ring, wrestle <v Speaker 2>for a while, get extremely frustrated for the same catalog <v Speaker 2>of reasons, and then would quit again. It wasn't a <v Speaker 2>real comfortable situation for anyone. Another reason that I hated <v Speaker 2>getting back in the ring was what I perceived was <v Speaker 2>happening with professional wrestling. I just not like what I <v Speaker 2>was seeing in the sport. As the eighties wore on, <v Speaker 2>professional wrestling was changing in a drastic and for me, <v Speaker 2>unacceptable way. Wrestling no longer resembled anything I had known, <v Speaker 2>and the changes weren't for the good. Believe me, I <v Speaker 2>despised what Vince McMahon Junior had done to professional wrestling. <v Speaker 2>It had become a complete total cartoon. Even though gimmicks <v Speaker 2>existed in my day and there were things that I <v Speaker 2>fought promoters about back then, I never thought that the <v Speaker 2>game would become as bizarre as it had gotten by <v Speaker 2>the end of the nineteen eighties. Finally, I wanted nothing <v Speaker 2>to do with it. There was a whole list of <v Speaker 2>incidents that turned my stomach. For example, and we're going <v Speaker 2>to see this on the Colisseum video. In nineteen eighty five, <v Speaker 2>I did a piper's pit interview in Madison Square Garden <v Speaker 2>with Rowdy Piper. The piper's pit segment was going to <v Speaker 2>be used to set up a series of matches with <v Speaker 2>Piper and myself. During the interview, Piper called me a <v Speaker 2>stupid wop. It was right then that I attacked him. <v Speaker 2>I had no idea that Piper was going to do that. <v Speaker 2>That's wild, no idea the piper. I mean, I don't know. <v Speaker 5>It doesn't give that kind of. <v Speaker 2>Forceful reaction. Yeah, like shocked. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, I didn't get that vibe. <v Speaker 6>Oh. <v Speaker 2>He swung at him like he was waiting for him <v Speaker 2>to say the word. <v Speaker 5>Right. <v Speaker 2>But that was considered a great insult to me, so <v Speaker 2>I went after him. But I have to recall, we <v Speaker 2>all have to recall, and I almost forgot this. Bruno's <v Speaker 2>book is has a k fame in it. I don't <v Speaker 2>know why he insisted on that, even though a lot <v Speaker 2>of it is the story hasn't happened, especially when it <v Speaker 2>comes to his dealings with promoters and business dealings. He <v Speaker 2>does try to keep alive the idea that some of <v Speaker 2>the matches he had in some of the feuds he <v Speaker 2>had were real. YEA, So perhaps he's perhaps he's not <v Speaker 2>saying that he didn't know Piper was going to say that, <v Speaker 2>but he's saying that for the purposes of the storyline, right, <v Speaker 2>he reacted that way. I asked Roddy later if someone <v Speaker 2>told him to do that, and indicated yes, that they had. <v Speaker 2>I left it at that. I haven't wrestled for a while. <v Speaker 2>As a substitute. McMahon Junior would pull me in at <v Speaker 2>the last minute to sub for guys who were either <v Speaker 2>hurt or couldn't pass their drug tests. Of course, I <v Speaker 2>felt abused me. Here I was Bernessa Martino, the man <v Speaker 2>known for twenty years as the living Legend, the man <v Speaker 2>who sold out arena after arena, and now I was <v Speaker 2>reduced to filling in for kids who suffered injuries because <v Speaker 2>they weren't in shape, or replacing youngsters, youngsters who couldn't <v Speaker 2>stay off drugs long enough to earn a living. This <v Speaker 2>was a sport filled with tremendous opportunities, and all this <v Speaker 2>really affected me, deep in my guts. Finally, I leveled <v Speaker 2>with David. I told him, Son, it doesn't make any <v Speaker 2>sense for me to wrestle anymore. You're going to have <v Speaker 2>to make or break it on your own without me <v Speaker 2>there to twist Vince Junior's arm on your behalf. Either <v Speaker 2>accept things the way they are, or quit and find <v Speaker 2>some other way to make a living. After that one <v Speaker 2>last talk, David tried one more comeback, but when he <v Speaker 2>found out that the WWF intended to keep booking him <v Speaker 2>into the smallest arenas, that was enough for him again. <v Speaker 2>Once more, he left the WWF totally disillusioned. Where that <v Speaker 2>left me was clear. Now I wanted no part of <v Speaker 2>climbing through the ropes and into the ring again. I <v Speaker 2>decided to tell Vince Junior that I was out for good. <v Speaker 2>I tried to contact McMahon Junior three or four times, <v Speaker 2>but he never returned any of my calls. He always says, <v Speaker 2>Vince Junior, by the way, to to needle him, I <v Speaker 2>wanted to let him know that I had an offer <v Speaker 2>outside his organization that I wanted to take it that <v Speaker 2>ended up being the UWF. I think now that's ninety one. <v Speaker 2>He goes to work for herb Abram's UWF. For a minute, <v Speaker 2>does he really hilariously as an announcer? Yeah? And then <v Speaker 2>of course he does that WCW what was it clash <v Speaker 2>or slamboree where he gets in the Hall of Fame. <v Speaker 2>That was a foot. <v Speaker 5>But also don't forget he's the referee for Halloween Havoc <v Speaker 5>eighty nine. <v Speaker 2>Absolutely, and maybe that's what he's talking about. Finally, in <v Speaker 2>an effort to contact him in directly, I spoke with <v Speaker 2>a fellow who worked under Vince Junior and explained to <v Speaker 2>this person, this is try to be Pat Patterson. What <v Speaker 2>was on my mind and why I wanted to speak <v Speaker 2>with McMahon junior. Although I still had still heard nothing <v Speaker 2>directly from the young promoter, I found out that he <v Speaker 2>apparently had gotten the word. It was McMahon junior's wife, Linda, <v Speaker 2>who called and asked me why I had been calling. <v Speaker 2>I told her I had a job offer from somewhere <v Speaker 2>else which was much more attractive than staying with the WWF. <v Speaker 2>Berto Simartino yep on this very strange part of his career, <v Speaker 2>as reflected. <v Speaker 5>On the video. <v Speaker 2>Jesus, so we know how that all plays out, we <v Speaker 2>know where we're headed from here. Before we deep dive <v Speaker 2>this puppy boss, I believe it's time for the Bruno <v Speaker 2>Simmartino living legend, Colosseum home video death toll. <v Speaker 5>Yes, we have uh ten, wow, I mean it's kind <v Speaker 5>of hard. I mean, you know, it's mostly it's not <v Speaker 5>like there's a bunch of different guys. It's Bruno for <v Speaker 5>the most part, you know. But we have obviously Gene <v Speaker 5>Okerland referee. Oh, we have eleven because Gorilla mons soon <v Speaker 5>as well. He's on commentary yep, referee, Danny Bartfield, Nikolai Volkoff, <v Speaker 5>Arnold Scoland, Freddy Blassie, Killer Kowalski, Roddy Piper, Paul Orndorf, <v Speaker 5>George Steele and of course Bruno s Hamartino. <v Speaker 2>Oh, there's the heart of the tape. How about Baron? <v Speaker 2>Baron still alive? That's crazy. Yeah, that's the fucking horrifying <v Speaker 2>thing that that he's that he's still alive. That is crazy. <v Speaker 2>I know they're trying to get him for Tales from <v Speaker 2>the Territories in Awa and he had travel difficulties, but <v Speaker 2>he was still alive, still out there. I don't know <v Speaker 2>how lucid he is, but of course he made most <v Speaker 2>of his bones in the Midwest. Yeah, barn unbelievable to <v Speaker 2>see him in there doing the stomach claw. I know, <v Speaker 2>doing the Fritz doing the Walzo on eric On Bruno, <v Speaker 2>But there you have it. Rest in peace, all and <v Speaker 2>we're about to add another one to the video shelf. Boss, <v Speaker 2>let's pull off the blockbuster shelf. Actually the Colosseum Collection <v Speaker 2>Colosseum Home Video Bruno Si Martino Wrestling's Living Legend. Sound <v Speaker 2>like a plan. Fucking do it, all right, we'll be <v Speaker 2>right back with that. Keep it locked.
