But the Live Tour is, at least according to the Saudis, they're not going to be involved in that anymore.

But you know, some people are curious about can you come back to the PGA Tour, like can John Rahm and Bryce and Deshambo just come back. Well, keep this in mind. The PGA Tour said that brooks Kepka's reinstatement was approved under the new Returning Member Program. The policy applies only to players who have won a major or the Players Championship since twenty twenty two. Brooks Kepka had to make a donation of five million dollars. He's not involved in the FedEx Cup bonus money. He doesn't get sponsors exemptions, so he doesn't get equity in the PGA Tour for five years. It's going to cost him somewhere in the vicinity of fifty to eighty million dollars. But I don't know if this was a one time only. Patrick Reed's coming back. I don't know if rom and Deshambo the PGA Tour is going to win them back. But they're going to make them pay literally to come back and play for the PGA Tour. Because you have players who had a lawsuit against the PGA Tour. I don't think that's going over too well. If you say, oh, now you want to come back, now, maybe the Libtour has you know, some kind of equity, you know, firm that's going to back it. I don't know any of the details there. Deshambo coming back would be great for the PGA tour. John Rahm there's some other players as well that Brandal Shambily will have more information coming up next hour. Pistons they're still alive. They beat the Magic, Kate Cunningham forty five, Polo Van Harrow had forty five as well. Calves over the Raptors, and the Rockets are still alive. Lakers up three to two. Looking at the games coming up tonight, you got the Knicks they are favored by two and a half against the Hawks, Celtics by five and a half against the Sixers, and then the Nuggets minus five and a half against a banged up Timberwolf's team. I wanted to see Allen field House and I wanted to see Jason Kidd, so I went out for that game.

As I've said many many times, the only greatest player of all time I don't think I ever saw in person was Bill Russell. But I saw everybody else. Now I didn't. It's not exactly a large sample size with some of the players that I got to see in person, but you did get to see them. So I feel like I'm an authority when it comes to did you see that guy play? What was the impact that that guy had. You know, were crowds come out to see that guy? Yes, Paulie.

Speaker 5: When I was in college at Southern Illinois, they used to have a thing called a seven up Shootout at the Keel Auditorium and it was the best high school teams, and we drove down to see Anthony Hardaway because we had heard about Anthony Hardaway. He wasn't Penny, he was Anthrony, and I remember seeing him in person going, Oh, that's different. That doesn't look like anything I've grew up on, because I didn't grow up on magic. And the other guy that was also playing in that tournament was Sean Bradley, so in the same tournament that was Unicorn Fest Marvin, is.

I know that the Rams wanted to go away. Sean McVay doesn't want to be answering questions about ty Simpson. But this is going to be a three year story now. It's not going to be front and center all the time. Matthew Stafford plays well, ty Simpson is a cutaway on the bench holding a clipboard. If Matthew Stafford gets banged up, is ty Simpson going to be playing. They're still trying to see if they can get Jimmy Garoppolo I think to be a backup quarterback here. But ty Simpson and I did have somebody who I trust, he said to me yesterday. Keep in mind that the Rams don't draft this high. They got this pick from the Atlanta Falcons, and if Stafford plays great the next two years, they're not going to be in the mix to get one of these really good quarterbacks. Factor that in. Did they go and get him way too high? Yes? Should they have maybe traded down and maybe got in front of Arizona and the Jets. Yes, but and I think that's a better that's a better story to tell your fan base if you say we traded down to get this quarterback. But you have this dichotomy, this tug of war between we're winning now, we can win now, to let's plan for the future. And my source said, they they're doing both. They got Trent McDuffie. They already people forget about that. They got him from the Chiefs. And now should they have gone for or maybe Lemon out of USC or Sadiq out of Oregon. You can make that case because that's now, and you got to have another receiver there with you know, DeVante Adams at thirty four. I gotta have somebody else in there who can be a go to and Lemon or Sadiq, certainly Lemon would have been my choice because I want to win now. That's what it's all about. You can always say we're planning for the future. We're planning for the future. I mean, Jordan Love, you got your quarterback, but did you pass up an opportunity to win another Super Bowl because you could have taken t Higgins with that pick instead of Jordan Love, Like, I want to win now, I'm not as and this is a franchise that says f draft picks right famously, Hey, we don't need these draft picks. Well, apparently you do. But they weren't going to get this opportunity. If they if they play up to expectations, you know, they're going to be the team to beat in the NFL this upcoming season. Therefore, you're not going to be drafting somewhere in the teams. You're not going to get that opportunity. That's why they pounced on this. And look, Sean McVay can tell me, and he can continue to tell me that he was thrilled with this pick. I gotta go his initial reaction certainly didn't look that way, and I appreciate it. I I was fine with it. I'm like, yeah, okay, not thrilled. Like, how can now My source said, okay, you're reading too much into this. I said, all right, help me understand this. He can't be that excited about Matthew Stafford's replacement. I said, oh my god, why are we tiptoeing around this? Didn't Matthew Stafford almost go to the Steelers or the Giants, or that he might be leaving the Rams a couple of years, like he had an unbelievable year, great year, but he's a big boy. He may not be thrilled, but you're running a business here. Did they go too high for try Simpson? Yes, and my source set I didn't have a first round grade on him, but he said somebody will trade back in Are there somebody's going to reach for him? Okay, I can reach and I can sell it. I can do I can get what I want. I could trade down and maybe get a second round pick, and I could still get my quarterback of the future. I think you could have accomplished both because I don't think the Jets and Cardinals were going to go up and try to jump you because they're probably thinking the Rams aren't going to take a quarterback at thirteen. But that's just sort of the backstory that I got yesterday. By the way, here is Sean McVay on The Herd where he talks about how what his mood was like at the draft post draft press conference.

They were a tick away from the super Bowl.

But are they going to have Jimmy Garoppolo as their backup?

And that's where I was going to go until I made the decision to stay home to go to cal and.

Speaker 3: Fans, they definitely have home court. But that's you know, my dad was from there. So at the age of twelve thirteen, I went to basketball camp and I was playing with the eighth graders. And then during camp they asked me, but I go and play with the high school kids. And I was all excited thinking I was going to be playing in allen Field House, and unfortunately they took me down the street and I was a little upset that we were leaving the main court, and so I wish I was staying with the eighth graders. But that's when I was introduced to playing with the high school kids.

Speaker 3: He's going to be one two. He's special when you talk about being drafted at the age of eighteen and now being nineteen, but just the way he carries himself, you know, on and off the floor. His parents have done an incredible job of keeping him humble and hungry, and so I think his career is going to be way better than mine.

Speaker 3: I asked two future Hall of Famers, Curry and Lebron, because he participated with Team USA, and so I wanted to know the truth. And so I went to those two and asked him, can Cooper play? And they both said he's very special. And so talking to Cooper, I had him over for dinner and I said, hey, when you were a Team USA, who were the hardest to guard? And he brought up Curry and Lebron and so I was just like, yeah, those two are heard to guard. But he goes, they just knew exactly what was going to happen before it happened. And I said, that just takes time, but those two are the ones that stood out, and he said those were the hardest to guard. And I asked those two about Cooper and he and they said he's very special. And I thought, you know, listening to those guys, but once I gave him the ball, you know, early on, I knew that this young man was going to do something special.

Speaker 2: I think I was critical of you that you had him with point guard to start, and I thought he hadn't played point guard, and I thought, wow, he's going to be the leader of the team, and now you're going to make him a point guard. And I don't know if he struggled a little bit there as a point guard, but when did you know that he could actually be a point forward or whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I think when you look at you know, sometimes we get caught up in the titles point guard, point forward, it becomes basketball. Can you bring the ball up? Can you make plays? Decision making? And I thought for him, you could see that he understood the game at a very high level at the age of eighteen. But understand, guys, we're going to target him and pick him up full court. And so we wanted to kind of look at speeding up the process. If there's a big game coming in the future, playoffs to play in, well, we have another ball handler if they took the ball out of Kay's hand, And so we were trying to think a little bit of a head and it worked out. And it's all right to be critical of someone's decision, but I think it helped the process for next season in years to come that we can rely on him getting us in an offense.

Again, when you talk about these young players the air i Q of understanding how to play the game, and he's one that's playing the game at a very high level. Shoots the three, puts the ball on the floor, doesn't have to jump the dunk. Uh, it doesn't have to jump the block shots and so just understanding. He again, he's special. And I think the league with these young stars that are in great.

They they play both sides of the ball, defensively and offensively. And then they have a star and the stars about the team, and so I would look at them more in that San Antonio dynasty.

Speaker 3: I think playing with him on Team USA. That was, you know, to be able to be with him for you know, two months, you know, and playing the game. Uh, being able to see him compete in practice and the way he just went about his business was special. The other memory I have is not so so good because I had blonde hair and I think he he made a jump shot at the free throw line over me. I thought I contested it, but I was coming down and he was still up there. So uh, just just the competition. He he loved going against the best. Uh, he wasn't afraid and he was the ultimate winner.

I wasn't going to try to get them motivated. I wanted them to kind of like just go through their their routine and get their average and go home. But if you were going to talk trash, he wasn't going to back down, and then he would let you have it. So I tried to go to opposite away, just say.

He always did something special, and so I always thought he was the best at his job.

Speaker 2: We had Jamal Crawford on yesterday. We're talking about handles. Who had the best handle, and he talked about Kyrie talked about We talked about a variety of players with great handles. You Tim Hardaway. He talked about guys who had a handle in the box, like Hardaway was in the box where other guys have iverson had a handle that was outside the box. Who if you're giving me the mount rushmore of best ball handlers, who would you put up there?

Speaker 3: Isaiah Thomas Detroit, Isaiah Kyrie. I'm gonna give you one that a lot of people don't talk about is Rod Strickland. Oh Strickey was uh, you know, his handle and his finishing was incredible. I'm gonna go with Steve Nash. Nash Nash was in the box, but he only dribbled it twice, but because he was always throw passing it. But I thought his handles were tight. Two and then Jamal Crawford. Even though he could get outside the box, he can he can embarrass you inside the box too. So I think that's that's Mount Rushmore for me. But those the Isaiah and Kai are are the best that I've seen.

Speaker 2: What were the battles like, when you're with Phoenix, You're there, Kevin Johnson's there, Steve Nash is there. So you got three Hall of Fame point guards there? What was practiced like?

Speaker 3: It was great because me and Nash got to practice all the time because Kevin was on the sideline reading the newspaper.

Speaker 3: Yeah, he practiced. He was a vet, so he would practice when he wanted to. But me and Nash got most of the reps.

Speaker 3: Yes, Nash is a gym rat. I knew Nash could play when I was at Cow in Santa Clair. We would have battles, and so understanding Nash's competitiveness, his work ethic is like no other. He's a gym rat. And so for both of us to come off the bench behind Kevin, we got to learn the game. But I knew at once Nash got the opportunity to run his team. He was going to be elite and he was a two time MVP and Hall of Famer. But we did have to come off the bench, and sometimes our minutes were cut because of Kevin.
