I Matt Jones here in LEXI tak Kentucky at the Ksbar Grill. Tonight the Cats will be playing against Minnesota State man Cato, home of coach Grubber. 00:00:52 Speaker 5: Who was with on the show Coach. Wasn't that Minnesota State made Plato? Yeah? Remember who which coach? Fox? That's right, Kelly. And then they had the dumb guy. 00:01:04 Speaker 4: His name was like Dabber Dobber Well done a five nine two twenty two eighty seven on the Clarks Puppet shop, phone line, a vision auto glass text machine seven seven two seven four five two five four. This diition sponsored by the t J. Smith Office. You call TJ, he'll make them pay, all right. 00:01:19 Speaker 5: So here's what I want to do to start, right, Okay, let's go. You know, obviously there's two ways we can go. 00:01:23 Speaker 4: We can talk about the football team because there's been some news including we don't know who the quarterback is going forward and just the general conversation about stoops, which is going everywhere I go. 00:01:34 Speaker 5: Is what people want to talk about. 00:01:36 Speaker 4: Or there's a basketball game tonight, and we can lead with the basketball game and the season and all that stuff. But I want to do what the fans want to do, all right, Right, I want that people to choose basketball or football? What do you want to talk about today? So the text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five for why set talk about our first two stories? 00:01:55 Speaker 5: Uh? 00:01:55 Speaker 4: You just text me basketball or football to the text machine in whichever one has the most votes. 00:02:00 Speaker 5: That's what we'll leave with, all right. Seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Basketball or football? 00:02:05 Speaker 6: Do you feel like you know which way it's Hitded? I think I know, I know what the fans will vote for. You think, so I know what I wouldn't I would vote for. 00:02:11 Speaker 5: All Right, Well we'll we'll we'll see which one it is. 00:02:13 Speaker 4: You be honest about whether your prediction is right, and I'll watch them come in here in a minute and I. 00:02:18 Speaker 5: Will I will let you know which one we're gonna do. 00:02:20 Speaker 4: Secondly, Drew, today's a big day because I get to wear my candy corn shoes. Those look like because it's Halloween. See it's got the white tip, orange and then yellow. These are candy corn shoes. You can't wear these a lot. No, people don't necessarily understand them a lot. This is the time of year you get to wear. 00:02:40 Speaker 7: And those uh, they almost look like they're a custom job with. 00:02:44 Speaker 5: This is they exist. They're actually very cheap. You could get these for like, they're not very expensive, but it's just they are. They're candy cold. 00:02:51 Speaker 7: So is this your contribution to Halloween? This is the lights off house. You don't dress up, but this is Yeah, this is the closest I get to a costume. Is I will wear shoes like candy Corn. 00:03:00 Speaker 6: Well, I think the most special part about it, though, you show me has a little bipe mark on the toe. 00:03:04 Speaker 5: It does have a bike mark in case people it's like you take a bike. Did you like candy corn? 00:03:10 Speaker 6: I do not like candy corn, love it, and it's it's that candy that you could leave out for like six months at your grandma's house and you still go and you eat it. 00:03:18 Speaker 5: Candy corn was always at my grandmother's house. Yep. I always liked it. 00:03:22 Speaker 4: You know, in the summer, sometimes it would get hot and get stuck together. But besides that, she was it was always there. You'd reach in and eat it. I don't think it's made drough of natural ingredients. 00:03:34 Speaker 5: I don't think it's I don't think that that's like real natural stuff. But I like candy. 00:03:38 Speaker 7: I have a weird relationship with it. I have a bag in my house that's probably gone two years unopened. However, if I walk, like if I go to my parents' house they have it out in a little bowl, or if I go somewhere where it's out, I will absolutely destroy whatever is out on the table. But at home, or I don't go buy it. I don't hold myself. It has to be the right time. 00:03:55 Speaker 4: I don't think anyone's ever bought it. It just magically gets in grandparents grandparents bowls. There's no no one buys it in the store. 00:04:03 Speaker 6: So this is a good week, Halloween week. Do you also wear it around Thanksgiving? That's another week you could wear. 00:04:07 Speaker 5: It if it comes up in the rotation, don't. We don't skip the rotation. Understood, So stood. 00:04:14 Speaker 4: Second thing, I made a really fun decision last night, which was to tweet out, uh, tell me who you're gonna vote for president and why, and tag Ryan Livin. 00:04:23 Speaker 5: Uh. 00:04:23 Speaker 4: The reason I did that is I knew he would like it. I knew he would want to hear everybody's thoughts, and I was looking, You're still getting. 00:04:30 Speaker 6: A lot of thoughts. I'm so mad at you. I can't get on Twitter. I've not been on Twitter. Every I go on Twitter in my feet is like Trump this, Harris Dad, Nazi naty, naughty Nazi Trump this Harris Dad. 00:04:39 Speaker 5: I mean I can't. 00:04:39 Speaker 6: I can't get on it. So if they if there's somebody something's supposed to say on Twitter, So thank you. I think we're now even. When I said that, you got engaged. No, this is not I think we're even. 00:04:50 Speaker 5: I liked it, go, but I just thought you would want to know. 00:04:53 Speaker 6: I really don't. 00:04:53 Speaker 4: You're curious about people, you would want to know how people are making decisions. 00:04:59 Speaker 6: No, but boy, they sure her took it to heart and decided they wanted to tell me. Not just one or one sentence or two long paragraphs, a lot of them. 00:05:06 Speaker 7: Well you like looking at you know, yard signs. Really your mentions are just like a big neighborhood of yard signs. 00:05:13 Speaker 4: All right, By the way, this is a very close vote. Okay, yeah, I thought this would be I thought one would be here. I'm just gonna do look at the last twenty five Okay, and you tell him up football one, basketball two, football two basketball four basketball five football four seven basketball. 00:05:32 Speaker 5: Okay, it looks like basketball wins slightly. But a lot of people. 00:05:36 Speaker 4: Want to talk football still, so that's probably not a good sign for where people are on it. 00:05:42 Speaker 7: I would have voted football in that scenario. 00:05:44 Speaker 5: Forward check. 00:05:44 Speaker 4: Actually, you know what, it's very close. I think it's literally basketball, like fifty five forty five. 00:05:49 Speaker 6: See, I thought after forty eight hours of digesting the lost Saturday night, but people are ready to shift gears. Talks about something good news, it's for the day and talk a little basketball. 00:05:58 Speaker 4: So we will lead with basketball. We'll do football in the second hour. Kentucky plays Minnesota State Mankato tonight, their final exhibition game. Minnesota State Mankato is the Division two national champs. For people who've never watched good Division two teams, I would say that would put the Division two national champ is going to be better than a lot of OBC teams. 00:06:20 Speaker 5: Would you say, I'd say that's very very fair. 00:06:22 Speaker 4: They're not gonna be. I don't think you could say they would be, you know, a tournament team. I don't know if they'd win the OBC, but they'd be if you just take the OVC or conference like that. They're gonna come fourth, fifth, maybe even third in a conference like that. So this could be a good team. They return a lot of the guys that they that they had. They play a different style. Unlike Wesleyan and even unlike Kentucky. This is like a team that's gonna play a style like cowplay. They're gonna try to take you off the dribble. They've got good athletes. They're gonna be a different kind of team. They're gonna be kind of like playing a less skilled cow team. Basically, I think it's cool. Did anybody ever say, Drew, why we're playing this game? Do we have a connection beyond Myron? 00:07:08 Speaker 5: I'll go with Myron. No, there might be one. I don't know it. 00:07:10 Speaker 7: If it was said, I missed that, But no, I don't know of any connection. 00:07:12 Speaker 4: But it is good because if you were to draw up the kind of team that I worry will give Kentucky trouble as we go through the year, it's going to be teams rhyme that play like this. 00:07:25 Speaker 5: Now, the teams we play like this. 00:07:27 Speaker 4: Will be better, but teams that play like this I think can hurt us because of our I got to see how can we defend on these one on one drives? So I think tonight is gonna be a really interesting thing to see. 00:07:40 Speaker 5: How they do. 00:07:40 Speaker 6: Yeah, they got four starters back from the team that won the national championship, and the one thing they've got that Westley didn't have, they got like two six eight guys. You know, Westley didn't have any big guys this team, but now only bring a lot of experience. They're bringing some big guys to kind of battle with us a little more. So I think it's not gonna be a seventy one point blowout. We'll just say that. 00:07:57 Speaker 5: No, I don't think so either. 00:07:59 Speaker 4: And I want to see, Okay, all these dudes that shoot the ball so well, can they guard their man off the bounce? I think Lamont Butler can. I think Oway can. But I think we gotta see, Okay, these other dudes that are you know, are they gonna be able to guard their man off the bounds because at the end of the games and we're gonna be able to have these people in the game, or are we gonna have to play a defensive team at the end of game. I think that's gonna be a big test. 00:08:24 Speaker 5: YEP. 00:08:24 Speaker 7: Andrew Gard had interviews yesterday and he talked about how the different style will be good for them to see something different. 00:08:29 Speaker 5: He's a perfect example of what I'm talking about, the guard off. 00:08:33 Speaker 7: The bounce on these players. They're giving like full scouting reports and these I learn more about Minnesota State in the Andrew Carr interview that I could have on Google. I mean, they're doing a great job. It's clear they know what they're getting into as well. But he's he mentioned how they're excited to play a different style. I'm not gonna say, I want it to be close. Seventy one was fun, but I wouldn't mind them being tested a little bit just to see what they have for something new. The last time Minnesota State played basketball, they hit a buzzer beater in the championship game, and the the guy that hit at his back, he's their star player or player of the year in that conference. So, like Ryan said, a lot of veterans back, including the maybe the best player in all of D two. 00:09:08 Speaker 4: You also, with this game, are gonna get a chance to see how well, you know, does this team enjoy success. I mean they won by seventy one. I think people are very excited. I don't know what the crowd will be like tonight, but I do think it will be I think it'll be better than it is for a normal exhibition game. Let's see a lot of these guys. I want to see what happens in a game where they don't shoot well. I mean, they made twenty one threes, which, by the way, was tied for the most threes any team Kentucky's ever had has ever made in a game. Okay, now, what happens if you only make eleven? Can you find a. 00:09:39 Speaker 5: Way to win. 00:09:40 Speaker 6: Yeah, and that's where guys like you know, Anthony Almindor came on. He shot the ball really well? Okay, was that ol Fluke? Are you gonna can you back it up? Can you go in he's a big guy. Can you maybe have to go in in the payment and get you a bucket if you have to do that? Can you do things like that? 00:09:52 Speaker 4: And this will be a game with Jackson Robinson too, because this is gonna be a game where these guys are good defenders, so we're gonna have to see if they can take people off the dribble. Now, the Athletic this morning released their preseason Top twenty five. 00:10:04 Speaker 5: Kentucky not on it. You know, we talked about how. 00:10:07 Speaker 4: Kentucky was plus three thousand to win the SEC until we all bet on it and now it's down to plus two thousand. 00:10:17 Speaker 5: Are we underrated to not be on it? Yes? 00:10:22 Speaker 7: I'm you know what are they twenty third in the ap eighteenth in some of these other opinions, I think around twenty is about right to not be top twenty five. I think that's pretty wrong. I mean, there's just so much experience that there's a lot with a coach who had a great first year in the Big twelve, last night, last talent. 00:10:39 Speaker 4: Don't be filming this because I don't need another video that comes out like on the football one where I said I was nine and three. 00:10:45 Speaker 5: So you see what I'm saying. I don't need one of these. 00:10:47 Speaker 4: If this team, this team ends up not being very good, I do one of these. 00:10:50 Speaker 5: Oh, Matt thought this? Okay? 00:10:52 Speaker 4: Can I make a controversial opinion? Yes, I don't understand why. I don't understand why Cal teams all these years got such a benefit of doubt and you're not gonna give. 00:11:01 Speaker 5: A benefit of the doubt to this. It's fair? 00:11:03 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, let me let me just I'm gonna read you the teams that I think on paper, I can totally understand why. 00:11:10 Speaker 5: You would rank ahead of us. 00:11:12 Speaker 4: Alabama, Yes, Houston, Gonzaga, Yukon, Duke, Kansas, Iowa State, Baylor, Arizona, Tennessee. I look at that top ten. I'm good with you putting us ahead of or putting us behind those teams right now? 00:11:26 Speaker 5: All right? 00:11:27 Speaker 4: Auburn, Okay, Texas, A and m I know Wade Taylor's back, but what have they ever done? You know, you always tell me what you got everybody back. You got everybody back from a team that missed the tournament. Every year? Why are they number Why are they number twelve? Carolina? Okay, Creighton if the tell nerds to shut up about crighton, every year Creighton is in the top ten or twelve, and every year Creighton stinks. Every year they get to the tournament and they stink. I don't understand why Creighton is always so high. Creighton is the NERD's favorite. It's like the TV show that everybody tells you to watch that you fall asleep within the first twenty minute. 00:12:04 Speaker 7: I always have to include him. 00:12:06 Speaker 5: Perdue, who's on Purdue? Now? 00:12:08 Speaker 4: Didn't they have a dude named Zach Edie that dominated? Where's he playing in the NBA? 00:12:12 Speaker 5: Now? All right? 00:12:12 Speaker 4: Thank you Texas Tech? Name me a Texas Tech basketball player ever? 00:12:20 Speaker 5: Hello, anyone? Bob Knight. 00:12:23 Speaker 4: Bob Knight didn't even play Coach Marquett Illinois, Michigan. I'm just saying, you're telling me Kentucky can't compete with those teams. 00:12:34 Speaker 5: I think it's insulting. I do. 00:12:36 Speaker 4: I get not putting this in the top ten, I get not putting this even in the top fifteen, but if you're gonna try to look me directly in the face and say that Texas Tech should definitely be ahead of them or Michigan or Cincinnati. 00:12:50 Speaker 5: Let's play Cincinnati tomorrow. 00:12:52 Speaker 4: We'll beat him by twenty like, come on, Savior Saint John's. 00:12:56 Speaker 5: I'm with you. 00:12:57 Speaker 7: I think the athletic not putting him in there at all for I mean, you know they don't have to be top fifteen, but to not have them, I think. 00:13:05 Speaker 5: Honestly, if I was cow sitting there twenty fifth, I'd be insulted Cincinnati, Xavier and Saint John's and not and not us. I'm I don't, I don't get it. 00:13:13 Speaker 6: I think Drew's right. I think that maybe it is because can I use this as a little incentive, you know, why not? Why not make it a little motivation for the guys in the locker room knowing because they know they're not top fifteen. I agree, But they're better than some of those teams you just said. 00:13:26 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, let's just look at Saint John's. Saint John's has a dynamic. 00:13:30 Speaker 5: Two waight group. 00:13:31 Speaker 4: They're led by Richmond, the Seaton Hall transfer, who was first team All Big East. Fine, but so was you know Jackson Robinson, so I don't what's what's the difference? He was first team Big twelve. The Wings are good. They will shoot a lot of threes. 00:13:43 Speaker 5: Okay, well so will we Yeah, a lot of threes. So I mean it doesn't matter. 00:13:48 Speaker 4: I mean we've been ranked in the top five and then the team missed the tournament, so it doesn't really matter. 00:13:53 Speaker 5: But I do feel, like Drew, there's a little disrespect of this senior laden's squad. There is. But I've said this before for this one off. 00:14:00 Speaker 7: I'm not trying to have a loser mentality, but I got a little tired of being first and second and just going backwards all year. 00:14:05 Speaker 5: I get it. 00:14:06 Speaker 7: We finally have a chance to climb. Let's start a little back and get to one instead of going backwards the whole time. 00:14:11 Speaker 5: Now I do. 00:14:11 Speaker 7: I don't want to do this all the time. I'd prefer to be the top ranked team, but it is something new and it's something to look forward to instead of just waiting to fall from the top. 00:14:19 Speaker 5: Well. 00:14:19 Speaker 4: Note under the athletic rankings, whether you think they're good or not, we play a pretty amazing schedule. I mean we play number one, number three, number five, number ten, number eleven, number twelve, number sixteen. We play twenty twenty one and twenty five. 00:14:39 Speaker 6: It's pretty amazing. 00:14:41 Speaker 5: That's pretty good. And we play number one twice. 00:14:43 Speaker 7: So I think in the A people nine SEC teams something like that. Yeah, I mean the conference is going to be good. 00:14:49 Speaker 4: We play it looks like to me we play twelve games of our thirty one against top twenty five teams and we play six games against top twelve teams. 00:15:00 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:15:01 Speaker 6: You know, for years the SEC was, you know, down just a little. Now it's rocking. There are a lot of really good teams in the SEC this year. 00:15:07 Speaker 4: He if, I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. The text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. My man's got a John Daily t shirt on there. He's rocking it this morning. He just picture with the cutout, yes, and then uh, okay, well let's just stay with the shirt. The shoes, No, these are not the sir. You need to appreciate these shoes. You're wearing a man, You're wearing John Day on your chest. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. Turkey Sports Radio. These two gentlemen right here are from are from Harlan, the harl Harlan County. 00:15:43 Speaker 5: But they drove up here from Georgia. 00:15:45 Speaker 6: How about that left Georgia Dalton, Georgia this morning went and picked up his friends Summerset and just to come watch the show. 00:15:50 Speaker 4: Some times you have to get up four point thirty. Thank you for doing that. Seriously, that's really that's really kind of you all to make that trip. And we're glad to We're glad to have you a f I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Uh text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four one person rights Matt Christmas. 00:16:10 Speaker 5: Creighton made the Sweet sixteen. We didn't maybe they should be a hit. It's fine. I still don't care. It's still crap. I've been to a Creighton game. 00:16:19 Speaker 4: They actually get amazing crowds, Like I think, did you go with me? 00:16:23 Speaker 5: No? 00:16:23 Speaker 4: This one, I think I went on myself. It was in Omaha. I think I went with Mosley and they get a great crowd. But you know what, it's still crap. And I challenge you to watch a Creighton game and not fall asleep. Joe Creighton's the only team I saw this stat yesterday to beat a number one team by more than ten points and then the next game lose to an unranked team by more than ten. 00:16:43 Speaker 5: Wow. They did that last year. I see. 00:16:45 Speaker 6: I can see that happening in a team like Crane, because they've got some big wins over the years, usually kind of ranked, kind of high. I wanna ask you, do you think one reason Kentucky back they're not getting a lot of respect because they don't see any like NBA guys on this team other than maybe Jackson. 00:16:57 Speaker 4: On paper, you would look at this team and go, this is not a normal Kentucky team. 00:17:03 Speaker 5: I think oddly. 00:17:04 Speaker 4: You know how he said that the divorce between Kentucky and Cal helped both of them. 00:17:07 Speaker 5: Remember how we've said that a lot. 00:17:09 Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I think oddly though, when it comes to perception, it hurt both of them because people think, well, Cal won't be as good at Arkansas as he was at Kentucky, and Kentucky doesn't have. 00:17:18 Speaker 5: The NBA players they had when they had Cal. Yeah. 00:17:21 Speaker 7: I still think looking over this athletic poll to not even have them in the conversation, it's just so insane to me with what Pope did last year. First year in the Big Twelve, they're picked to be one of the worst teams and have the wins they did at Kansas beating Texas, and that was with a much less talented roster than he has at Kentucky, where you have all the other bells and whistles to help them be better. I just think it's nuts to not have them. 00:17:41 Speaker 4: In the conversation, one person writes, Matt Lamont Butler, you said was going to defend well tonight. What do you think about the fact he said that he can do a Rubics cube in under two minutes. 00:17:51 Speaker 6: I saw that. Didn he say like forty five seconds? 00:17:53 Speaker 5: He says his all time record is forty four seconds. Can you do a Rubik's cube? 00:17:58 Speaker 6: Not even close? 00:17:59 Speaker 5: Nope. 00:18:00 Speaker 4: Nobody told me that there's a strategy. Yeah, I'm sure there is. Do you know the strategy? 00:18:04 Speaker 5: I do not. Here's what they told me. The strategy was, Shannon. 00:18:07 Speaker 4: Yeah, they told me, you get the white the white, you know, the side that's white. You get it in the shape of a cross, okay, up and down, and then once you do that, there's a set of moves to memorize that you can just if you memorize it, and then that's how you do it. 00:18:25 Speaker 2: Someone said this morning on the pre show, it's four basic moves and if you know those four basic moves, you can solve it in any combination. 00:18:32 Speaker 5: Okay, so they said not the white cross. 00:18:34 Speaker 2: Well they didn't mention that that may be part of it too, but they said there's four moves that you have to know. 00:18:39 Speaker 5: Yeah, so like there's clearly a skill to it. 00:18:43 Speaker 6: Yeah, but I feel like people don't share it with you. 00:18:46 Speaker 4: Like they'll say things Shannon, like there's four basic moves, but then they don't tell you what exactly, Like they don't say it's like a magician's thing, like oh, we don't talk to each other about it. 00:18:55 Speaker 3: It's like they're on their own little elite. 00:18:56 Speaker 4: Club and they don't want us to be. It's like, you're in Lexington. This is what this is like. In Lexington, there are people that play in these like elite poker tournaments. Okay, they'll have a poker tournament and I'm not gonna say where they are because I'm not trying to get everybody's like, you know, I'm not trying to blow everybody's cover there. They'll have these pokers tournaments and they'll be it like a building and you have to walk in and you have to say the dog sleeps at night in a purple mood, and then they'll let you in. 00:19:27 Speaker 3: The door like a speakeasy. 00:19:28 Speaker 5: Yeah, except it's just for poker tournaments. And I am sort of peripherally invited to a couple of them because I like poker. 00:19:36 Speaker 4: But then they're always like you have to make sure that you wear green and hop on one toe when you walk in, and I go, I feel like that's a little hard. And then what's going on in there that's like we can't know about to this degree. And so they sometimes have them ryan at places all of you know, like it's not like they're in like a garage out in for sales. They'll be like it, I don't say where, but like pretty prominent places. And I feel like it's a secret I'm getting left out of. Drew Rubik's cubes are just like that. I feel like everybody knows the secret and they just won't tell me. 00:20:15 Speaker 7: I guess this is because once you get it, it makes you special. We're talking about Lamont Butler. There's a story on KSR about Lamont Butler. But if he just shared that with everyone, that's not unique anymore. He has got this superpower and he doesn't superpower. 00:20:28 Speaker 4: Have you ever been to one of these poker tournaments where you have to know things? 00:20:33 Speaker 6: I I don't want to talk about basketball football anymore. I want to talk about these secret poker tournament. 00:20:37 Speaker 5: Oh no, there's secret poker tournaments all over town. Never know. 00:20:40 Speaker 4: There was a secret poker tournament this To give you an example how big these things are. There was a secret poker tournament here recently. It had like six hundred people at and I got invined. I couldn't go. I was gonna go, but they were like. 00:20:55 Speaker 5: You cannot. You have to You have to do the worm and then they'll let you. Yeah. And then also, let's not act like Ryan. 00:21:02 Speaker 4: You know there are like people in this town that have little speakeasies. 00:21:06 Speaker 5: Oh yeah, where you walk in and it's like you're in Vegas. 00:21:09 Speaker 4: Yeah, somehow you get invited to all those We don't ever get the invitations. 00:21:13 Speaker 5: Do you go to him ever? 00:21:15 Speaker 6: Yes? With the one the other night. 00:21:18 Speaker 5: How come you never tell us about it? 00:21:20 Speaker 6: Well, I'm an invited guest I'm not a member. I have to get first of all. 00:21:24 Speaker 5: There's a membership to these things? Did you even know? Like there's I'm telling you there's a lot of this stuff. 00:21:31 Speaker 4: Yeah, So what happens at him? Since I don't get to go? 00:21:36 Speaker 7: Do you wear like cloaks and stuff? 00:21:37 Speaker 5: Yeah? What does he have to put on a robe? 00:21:39 Speaker 6: No, there's a there's an open bar. Uh, there's like one of them has a golf stimulator. One of them has an Indy car simulator. There's poker tables, there's a massive TVs to watch games. 00:21:51 Speaker 5: Is it all men? No? So how did you get in? 00:21:57 Speaker 6: I can do a Ruby's Cuban under forty four? 00:21:59 Speaker 5: I mean, like, did you do you have to give like a password? Are you on the list? Yeah? 00:22:04 Speaker 2: I guess it sounds like Ryan's been sworn to secrecy to. 00:22:08 Speaker 5: This and you won't even talk like we know everything you do. 00:22:11 Speaker 4: Like he'll call me up and be like I just poured beef stew on my head, Like that's the kind of stuff he'll say to me. 00:22:17 Speaker 5: And yet you go to these events and then I go, what'd you do last night? 00:22:20 Speaker 4: And you know, like I just did some stuff, Like why don't you want to Why can't you talk about it? 00:22:25 Speaker 6: Well, I don't think they want people to know it's there, so people won't try to get in. 00:22:30 Speaker 5: Well, but we're not saying where it is, and we're not even saying what. 00:22:32 Speaker 4: Yeah, so like we're just I just want to know what happens when you go. 00:22:38 Speaker 6: I go sit and watch games and eat and drink a lot, and that's it. That's it. 00:22:43 Speaker 5: You just go eat and drink and watch game and watch game. 00:22:45 Speaker 3: You do that at home, though, but you could do that at home. 00:22:47 Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's the poker's tournament. At least it's something I can't do at home. But it's free at these speakeasies. How do they pay for everything? 00:22:55 Speaker 6: The people have a lot of money and they just for the poker tournaments and they just invite you. 00:23:00 Speaker 5: Yeah, huh, he's not telling us something. 00:23:03 Speaker 7: I know something's up here. 00:23:04 Speaker 5: We'll take a break. Mary backs ks R. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:23:11 Speaker 3: He'll make them pay now. 00:23:13 Speaker 2: More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:16 Speaker 3: Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:17 Speaker 4: First of all, people seem shocked that these things exist. 00:23:20 Speaker 5: Yeah, really, like the five hundred person poker turnament. 00:23:23 Speaker 4: People are shocked, Shandon, there was a five hundred person poker tournament in Lexington Sunday night. 00:23:30 Speaker 3: I had no idea. 00:23:31 Speaker 4: Really yeah, and like nobody knows this must be mentioned. 00:23:36 Speaker 5: I would be how cock fighting happens in Eastern we wanted. 00:23:41 Speaker 4: First of all, Ryan just told us during the break Shannon, he has two of these places he goes. 00:23:46 Speaker 2: He has options going to that secret club tonight, I'm going to this secret club instead. 00:23:50 Speaker 4: Like what's different about this than like a country club? Is the country clubs at least acknowledge they exist, Like you know, the Lexington Country Club exists. Whether they let you or not is different, but they you know it exists. These are places that Ryan goes that you can't even know. One person writes, I'm sure one of them is Jim host House, which is always why. 00:24:09 Speaker 3: He's so scared of it makes sense. 00:24:13 Speaker 4: The other person says, is Ryan in the Illuminati? What I'm wondering. 00:24:17 Speaker 5: I think he's in the Lexington Illuminati. 00:24:19 Speaker 7: I like that he has options. Do you on a Friday night you call and just ask their menus and then pick which one you're going to. 00:24:24 Speaker 4: Do you remember when we worked at Hey Kentucky and one and someone that worked on her staff told us about the place in Ashland and we were so shocked. Shannon, I'm not even gonna go into the details at this point, but there was a guy. Remember, there was a guy that told us about a place in Ashland where it goes down and the eastern Kentucky, like northeast Kentucky illuminati gather like the kind of Ashland Pike Bull all that area. And there was, according to this person, and I don't know if it's true, but there was a house in Ashland where are like, it's just it's a house in Ashland. And we were kind of shocked by Somebody just wrote in and said, Matt, there's a place like that in Somerset. The elite of Somerset go and no one talks about what happens. 00:25:15 Speaker 5: Is this just every way. 00:25:18 Speaker 6: There's one Richmond, Bowling, Green owens Borough. Are they all over the state and nobody knows about it? 00:25:23 Speaker 4: I remember, So I'm not just saying it myself. Due you remember that story. 00:25:28 Speaker 7: I remember even the names. 00:25:30 Speaker 5: There were definitely names up. I'm not dropping out. I'm not either. 00:25:33 Speaker 4: I'm just telling you there were there were names that were on the floor for. 00:25:37 Speaker 3: I feel left out. I had no idea this thing existed. 00:25:40 Speaker 4: I didn't either, but he remember, he said it to us like this is obvious. Everyone knows this, and you and me and Tomlin were shocked. 00:25:47 Speaker 7: But now as you hear of more and more of them, I I just assume every county has one well underground society. 00:25:53 Speaker 6: In the erics Con documentary, there was one in wherever he Prestonsburg. 00:25:57 Speaker 5: That's right, there was an eric cea Con one, that's right. 00:26:01 Speaker 4: Yeah, So anyway, people are weird. That's that's the that's the ultimate thing about who's up first? 00:26:07 Speaker 3: All right, we'll start with Zach. 00:26:08 Speaker 5: I can't believe you have two of them. 00:26:10 Speaker 8: Zach, go ahead, Zach, Hey U Matt Rubik's cube solver here. You know, I think the the first thing I would tell you is it's easier than you think. Okay, the second thing. The second thing to know is that the middle cube on each side is what color that side always is, and you can start by solving the cross. What you heard is correct on each side, But the trouble is having to coordinate it with the adjacent sides because those have to be correct too. They have to match the middle square of those sides. I would encourage you to try it. Got a got a ruby cube as a stocking stuff for years ago in the early YouTube on. 00:26:51 Speaker 5: Your own or did you like learn on YouTube and then do. 00:26:53 Speaker 8: It learned on YouTube? Much? 00:26:56 Speaker 5: Okay? 00:26:56 Speaker 4: All right, yeah, Well my grandfather I remember figuring it out out with I mean. 00:27:00 Speaker 5: This is pre internet. Appreciate the call. 00:27:02 Speaker 4: He just figured it out himself, and I thought that was I thought he was the smartest man that exists. 00:27:07 Speaker 6: I've always been amazed people could do it, especially like those contests. They do it like five seconds. 00:27:11 Speaker 4: No, I'm nine, twenty two eighty seven, what person rights, Matt. I will take your bet. There's no way Kentucky loses by thirty this year in a basketball game. That's not what I said, By the way, I did say they would lose by thirty. I said there will be a game where we get blown out. That doesn't mean it'll be by thirty. We beat Alabama by thirty, but that doesn't mean we're gonna get me a. 00:27:31 Speaker 5: Bit, but there'll be a game where we're cold. 00:27:34 Speaker 4: What I want to see us have happened Drew during the preseason is play a game against the stinky team where we don't hit threes and still win the game. 00:27:43 Speaker 5: That's one I would like to see. That's why. 00:27:45 Speaker 7: I mean, you never want to root for your team to miss threes and not win by seventy because that was so much fun last week. But if this team tonight defending D two Champ gave him a little test at least in the first half or something, I think that could be good for them as the season starts coming up. 00:27:57 Speaker 6: You're right, I want to see him win the game. We got it out and you're not shooting the ball, well maybe you got to, you know, dude, pound it inside and grind it out and fight and play good defense. Win a game that way, then you know this is a good basketball team. 00:28:09 Speaker 7: Mark Pope said he likes these games to expose something with his team so they can get back in the lab and correct it now. I don't know that they were exposed much against Wesleyan, but maybe this team could show some weaknesses that they could work on. 00:28:19 Speaker 4: I mean, this, one person writes, mad, I'm from Ashland. I don't even need to know what you're talking about. It's one hundred percent true. Everyone in Ashland knows about it. We don't talk about it, but we all know the place exists. As a matter of fact. There will be people mad that you even acknowledged it exists, but ask anyone from Ashland and they can tell you that what you said is correct. 00:28:39 Speaker 6: And is it just for the elite people in Ashland? 00:28:41 Speaker 4: I think it's for the people they invite, Okay, but I think they're from what I understand. Again, I don't know, but from what I understand, you know, I just know what I was told. 00:28:52 Speaker 5: Drew was there. I was there and just trying to get some work done. 00:28:56 Speaker 4: We were trying to get some work done and a name come up, came out, and somebody goes, you know, they're part of the Ashland House and I was like, well, what's that? 00:29:05 Speaker 5: And then I heard more about it. 00:29:07 Speaker 4: Then they were like and so is blah blah blah, and so is blah blah blah. And I was like, what you can't unhear it. You can't unhear it. And then that was that. I mean, again, I'm not stay in details. I'm just saying and this person says, I'm right, who's next? 00:29:22 Speaker 3: Dalton? 00:29:23 Speaker 5: Dalton? 00:29:23 Speaker 4: Hey, we got Dalton, Georgia and now we got a collar, Dalton, go ahead. 00:29:28 Speaker 9: How's it going, guys? 00:29:29 Speaker 5: Good? 00:29:29 Speaker 9: You're a comparison to Creighton's stat sounds like they are the Kentucky Football of basketball. 00:29:37 Speaker 5: There was a period where nerds liked us in football. 00:29:39 Speaker 4: You're right where we were kind of like the you know, Mark Stoops teams plays hard and they defense. You're right that Chris Dorian and those people would really like us. 00:29:48 Speaker 9: Okay, give me like thirty seconds. I know we don't talk politics, but I'm going to talk about people. And I'm not gonna mention policy or anything but the election coming. 00:29:57 Speaker 5: I don't want to talk. 00:29:58 Speaker 4: About the people righting for president. Just don't because it's a week away. 00:30:01 Speaker 5: People too, You're going to talk about people in this state, talk about you can talk about people, the people. 00:30:06 Speaker 9: That communicate in the world. So anytime you walk out now well week out from the election, you can you can feel the tension and with the by the media bias on both sides, you can only get so far into a discussion we say, while you're just wrong, you just believe that, or they just tell you that, blah blah blah. I would like for people just to take a deep breath, and when you when you talk to somebody that's on the other side from you, go back and think about the dumbest thing you've ever done, or the most embarrassing thing you've ever done, and think about if that happened to your mother, how would you like people to handle that and act like that to that person that you're having breath a few. 00:30:49 Speaker 4: Weeks ago, which I've actually had a bunch of people say to me they liked and this is a line that I think is really important to think about in the next ten days. Give everyone else the grace that you would like people to give you, all right, So give everyone else the ability to make a mistake the way you would like them to meet you. I'm gonna make a generalization that you two can tell me I'm wrong. My guess is that we're gonna vote differently, the two of you than me. Is that probably fair? 00:31:15 Speaker 5: All right? So? 00:31:16 Speaker 4: Yeah, you yet, you guys got up this morning. You drove from Dalton, Georgia to sit here because probably you like the show, because you like what's in this part. You like Kentucky stuff, and so do I. You and I I'm sure would we talked about Freddy. We both share a love of Freddy. You guys knowing, I knowing we all have more in common than we have a part. And it's easy in these moments like it's gonna be in this next week, or however long it goes after. 00:31:44 Speaker 5: It, to forget that. 00:31:45 Speaker 4: And one of the things I love about this show is it's to show the common part. Now, I don't think having stuff in common means you have to act like those differences don't exist. 00:31:57 Speaker 5: I have people who write me every day that say you stupid liberal, but in like a loving money right, like in the like in a way that's like giving me a hard time. 00:32:07 Speaker 4: And I don't mind that at all, but I'll give you and I appreciate the call. I'm gonna give you example of an interaction I had in the last week that gives you that. I hope people will remember. I had a guy write me something really nasty online, and I did what I do sometimes. I didn't respond publicly. I wrote him privately and I said, let me ask you a question. You and I are from a similar place. If I met you, do you think you would say that to me? And he was like no, he wrote me back, and I said, then, why did you say that to me there, and he was like, I don't know, I'm just getting worked up about the And I'm like, why we let's be real. 00:32:41 Speaker 5: Everybody is room. We ain't never gonna meet Donald Trump. We ain't never gonna meet Kamala Harris. They will come or go and our lives. Like, let's not hate each other over these people hate each other over stuff that's like real, not over people that really you're for Trump. 00:32:59 Speaker 4: I'm from here, they don't. I mean, at the end of the day, do you think they care about us? No, they care about themselves. So let's not hate each other about it. That's my end of the soapbox for that. 00:33:10 Speaker 6: It makes me want to get up and clap and sing, God Bless America what you just said, right, I. 00:33:15 Speaker 5: Wish you wouldn't God Bless. 00:33:18 Speaker 4: It's gonna get you kicked out of those societies if you if you keep doing don't embarrass I mean, you're in the Illuminati. And there's a certain standard she and that they need to have. 00:33:27 Speaker 3: They don't need Ryan singing. 00:33:31 Speaker 5: That is uh, that is that is not part of what they're looking for. All right. So I got a new I got a new copy here for this one. All right, you're ready. We're talking about Red State. Red State its tailgate time in the Bluegrass. 00:33:43 Speaker 4: Red State Barbecue, in my opinion, the best barbecue in central Kentucky. 00:33:47 Speaker 5: Brisket pork, chicken ribs. 00:33:48 Speaker 4: When I drive to Georgetown to go Teach, a pass right by it, there's always a million people. 00:33:53 Speaker 6: That always crowded. 00:33:54 Speaker 5: It's always good. 00:33:55 Speaker 4: Food, and it's always got good food. It's Red State bbq dot com. While they may be read a state, they bleed blue. It is Red State Barbecue. Check them out. We will take a break. Where are you from? 00:34:07 Speaker 5: Man? Hazard? Look at that has what happened? You got? You get fall? Okay? What? Yeah? 00:34:15 Speaker 4: Yeah, well you're gonna get better and the next thing you know, I'm gonna take you on the basketball court. 00:34:19 Speaker 5: We'll take your break and be right back. This ki is har. 00:34:24 Speaker 4: The amount of secret societies I'm getting written about. 00:34:29 Speaker 5: I'm just gonna read you. 00:34:30 Speaker 4: The towns so far that people say have things like I want to hear this Morehead E town. 00:34:37 Speaker 3: I can see Morehead for sure. 00:34:38 Speaker 4: You can see the e town Grayson, Grayson. You wouldn't think Grayson would have one. Uh, Paducah, I could see you. 00:34:52 Speaker 5: I could see. And then finally, finally Smith's Grove. Is it the Buck? But you think it's a buck? He's spin off? Maybe Society. 00:35:02 Speaker 6: You know somebody on this show had a secret Halloween party last night that none of us got invited to. 00:35:07 Speaker 5: Shandon never invites us to his party. 00:35:08 Speaker 3: Well, first of all, the game was going on. Game was going on. You guys were at the game. 00:35:12 Speaker 5: Not last night. There was no game. 00:35:14 Speaker 3: It was not last night. It was Saturday night. 00:35:16 Speaker 6: Oh, I thought it was last night. 00:35:18 Speaker 4: He does this all the time. He always says, Halloween par you guys live. 00:35:21 Speaker 3: In likes and then there was a game going on. None of you guys would be able to. 00:35:24 Speaker 5: Go Halloween party. I would love to. I would. I would. 00:35:28 Speaker 3: Anytime I ask you to cut hang out, you go, I'm busy. 00:35:30 Speaker 4: But maybe I'm not busy that day. You remember, I just want to be invited. That's the key. 00:35:35 Speaker 6: I think Shannon had a secret society. I think it's a secret party. 00:35:38 Speaker 4: It has like Adam Revolver, and it has one of the outrunners he smashed my time. 00:35:44 Speaker 5: It has it does it has one of the outrunners? Shalloh does he come in and spin around? 00:35:51 Speaker 3: And he spins around you gotta spin to get in. 00:35:56 Speaker 4: That's also the Society and a hulso the theme May five nine, two eighty seven. Did you see that they're gonna do a Monday night football game with all Simpson's characters? 00:36:09 Speaker 3: Oh my, what how are they doing this? 00:36:11 Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know how this is gonna work. But apparently it's a team of Bart's. So it's gonna be like the Bengals play the Somebody's. This is I'm not kidding. This is a real Monday night football game. The Bengals play maybe the Giants, I don't know who. They play Cowboys, Cowboys, So Beingles play the Cowboys on Monday night football. They are going to animate the players where it is a team of Bart's playing a team of Homers. No cartoon Crown cartoon. 00:36:37 Speaker 3: Cartoon, Krusty the Clown, like a team of Krusty's. 00:36:40 Speaker 5: I don't know. 00:36:40 Speaker 4: Bart and Homer each have a team and they will make the players into cartoon characters. I don't know if it's gonna work, but I will turn it on. 00:36:53 Speaker 5: I think it is. 00:36:55 Speaker 4: Instead of the Manning cast for that game, you're getting Bart versus Homer. 00:37:00 Speaker 6: I absolutely will flip it over, just to watch a little bit of it and see how how it plays out. 00:37:04 Speaker 3: Money on the barts. I mean, Homer's fat, he's slow. 00:37:08 Speaker 4: Homer's gonna have a hard time running out route. That's a good part point. He's a little out of shape. 00:37:13 Speaker 5: But first of all, I. 00:37:15 Speaker 4: Am amazed at the technology that can that can in live action turn a person into a cartoon. I know they do that with the Nickelodeon games, but but but I think they they don't do the players though, right, Like they use the regular players but then just slime them. 00:37:35 Speaker 7: They've they've cartooned them too before and other stuff. It's pretty amazing. I mean, we can't get a Dwayne Wade's statue, but we can get a live football game turned into cartoon. 00:37:43 Speaker 5: I want to talk about that statue, Like the. 00:37:45 Speaker 7: Technology on that's crazy. 00:37:47 Speaker 5: That's amazing, isn't it. 00:37:48 Speaker 7: Yeah, I've flipped over when they did the Nickelodeon one. It's not for me, but you see stories of guys watching it with their kids that you know wouldn't normally be able to watch football. It looks like it would be fun for a kid that's trying to get into. 00:37:59 Speaker 4: The right shean and all the different characters in in Springfield. You could put them on there and they play the different positions. You have Krusty and Smithers. Smithers like that would be kind of cool if for that game Joe Burrow is mister Burds trying to throw a pass. 00:38:16 Speaker 5: I think that don't. 00:38:16 Speaker 2: Actually, I don't know how it's gonna work with the helmets on though, But you know. 00:38:20 Speaker 4: They just play without helmets. They all get concussions everyone in the game. 00:38:24 Speaker 3: They all go to the injury tent. 00:38:25 Speaker 5: Marge. Can you imagine Marge receiver helme on that hair. It's gonna be hard. It's gonna be. 00:38:31 Speaker 4: Hard to get to Hode, Marge, I mean to be easier to cover field goal that hair offensive line. 00:38:37 Speaker 5: Marche's two sisters are probably good the cane. I would love Grandpa's and DV back there in the back. 00:38:48 Speaker 6: He's the I want them to be players. Also, not just a bunch of Bart's playing a bunch of Homers. 00:38:53 Speaker 4: No, No, Bart and Homer are like the coaches. But I think all of Springfield is played. 00:38:58 Speaker 7: Okay, I think I read that Marge is online reporter. I'm not kidding, No, I'm serious. I think marge is I'm serious. I think this. 00:39:08 Speaker 5: Is a great idea. I don't know. 00:39:09 Speaker 4: It probably will fail, but I think it's a great idea. 00:39:13 Speaker 5: And I bingles beingles cowboys? Why not? Why not? 00:39:16 Speaker 7: And those teams can't win games, so might as well do something. 00:39:19 Speaker 5: Enough about I talk enough about Dak, I can talk about. 00:39:23 Speaker 4: Millhouse that week on the show and it'll be good. Who's next, Richard, Richard? Go ahead, Richard? 00:39:30 Speaker 10: Yes, I was wondering. Man, it's the game that I on television. 00:39:36 Speaker 5: Yes, it's on the computer. 00:39:38 Speaker 4: So sot's go over this again really quick, because I like I get I will get asked ten times before the game. If you have the SEC Network on one of your TV screens, then you. 00:39:50 Speaker 5: Have access to SEC. Then you have access to SEC Plus. 00:39:54 Speaker 4: You have to go to the the ESPN app log in like you would log into your TV account, and you will get it. Now, if you do not have the SEC network and you only have ESPN Plus, you will not get it because it's non SEC Plus. So if you watch SEC Network on your TV screen, you will be able to watch. If for some reason you live in the area and you don't have it, we're gonna be showing at the bar, and I actually think it will work this week as opposed to last week, so it should be good. 00:40:29 Speaker 10: One other thing, I hope Suit stays we need a new offensive line coach, but Suit stay, I'm I enjoys. I've enjoy's programs here. 00:40:46 Speaker 5: Thank you, Thank you, Richard. 00:40:47 Speaker 4: We'll talk we'll talk a little bit more about that about football in the second hour. 00:40:51 Speaker 5: But our pregame show tonight is at four thirty thirty. 00:40:55 Speaker 4: We're gonna continue previewing the team. Uh, you could come out on the way to the game. And then the game is on SEC Plus. I assume it will have Darren Hendrick and Cameron Mills and we can admire how they are twins. 00:41:07 Speaker 5: Right. 00:41:08 Speaker 6: Yet again, we do need to update a story about the last pregame show we did. The gentleman who called in said he couldn't underhear Tom and Jeff because of the crowd noise. 00:41:17 Speaker 4: Mike, I would like to I would like to update that.
