Our streaming partner and operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your calls at eight seven seven three DP. Show Reggie Miller. A little bit later on, as we discuss the future of the Golden State Warriors. The art is formally known as the Golden State Warriors, the Jimmy Butler Injury. And if you're Golden State Steph Curry, is this the way you're going to go out? Is this the way it ends in a couple of years? And there's the possibility of maybe trading Jonathan cominga, But who are you bringing in? And is that enough? In a very very difficult Western Conference. Jason Garrett, who interviewed for a job head coaching job in Tennessee, he will join us on loan from Football Night in America, former Cowboys head coach, and the Giants already get a victory. They won the press conference apparently yesterday with John Harbaugh. Harball was introduced as the new head coach. And it's weird, how if we looked at the Giants, Let's say Brian Dable was back next year, we would look at the Giants and go, Okay, there's potential. All of a sudden, you bring in John Harbaugh, We're going, man, he can maybe turn it around like Mike Brabel. Maybe you got a similar situation there. And Rabel, who is not as charismatic as his brother, had this to say about ready to. 00:02:01 Speaker 2: Win John, how do you build a winning culture? And how long will it take for this team to win? 00:02:09 Speaker 4: The second part is impossible to say, but I'm planning on day one, so that's what we're shooting for. That's what we're working for and fully expected to happen. 00:02:17 Speaker 3: All Right, I'm ready to go. Giant's gonna get a turnaround. Feels like we have one or two of those teams every year. And he's also very excited to coach Jackson Dart. 00:02:29 Speaker 4: I'm excited about Jackson Dart, you know. And you build your team around your quarterback. I like the way he plays malec, his talent, skill set, all things accomplished. But more than that, I like who he is and what he's about to me's about football. I mean this, This young guy loves football. He wants to talk football all the time. And that's kind of what I like doing too. So I think we're gonna have a lot of great conversations. I can't wait to get started with him. 00:02:49 Speaker 3: All right, channeling a little Jim Harball there. He liked football, I like talking football. We're gonna talk football, yes, seton. 00:02:56 Speaker 2: How do you know that you met him two days ago? 00:03:00 Speaker 3: Well maybe that's all they talked about was football. He liked football. I like football. We're gonna talk football. It feels like, and let me let me rephrase this is he's not a character like his brother. He's got charisma, he's just not a character like Jim is but great head coach. But all of a sudden you look at the Giants differently. I think because John Harball, because they're going to talk football. They're going to win football. That's what they do. By the way, Jim Harball hired Mike McDaniel, the former Dolphins head coach, or at least he's going to Mike McDaniel. Now the headline is going to read differently than I'm interpreting this, and that is Mike McDaniel turned down an opportunity to interview for the Cleveland Browns job. I think what he did is he took his name out. You know, sometimes you're not going to get a job, but you want to take your name out before somebody hires somebody and then you realize you weren't getting the job in the first place. I don't think they were going to hire Mike McDaniel in Cleveland. They've had a couple of candidates coming in for a couple maybe their second interviews. Mike would have been a curiosity. Hey, come on in, what do you think of our quarterbacks here? 00:04:13 Speaker 2: What would you do? 00:04:14 Speaker 3: With this offense here, and I think the Chargers did a great, great hire bringing in McDaniel to help Justin Herbert and Mike McDaniel was coveted as an offensive coordinator. I think that's a great hire. And he goes to the Chargers. Brown's still searching for their head coach. But you know, you still start with Buffalo because these Bills fans are not letting it go. They're looking for every angle. Is there a new angle with that interception? There's got to be NFL films put out an angle. It's not any different than what we saw over the weekend. 00:04:50 Speaker 5: What Paul Dan not according to Bill supporters. 00:04:54 Speaker 3: Well, okay, Bill supporters need to have this realization. Your best player didn't play his best and he cost you that game. Because if he makes a couple of plays, you win. 00:05:06 Speaker 2: That's it. You win. It doesn't come. 00:05:09 Speaker 3: Don't blame the officials, blame Josh Allen. 00:05:13 Speaker 2: Start there. He did not have a good game. 00:05:17 Speaker 3: A couple interceptions, an overthrow that would have won the game or put him in a position to win the game, a fumble at the end of the first half. That's on him, It's not on the officials. And it's easy to blame and it's tough. It's tough to sit here and go, why aren't we playing this weekend? We are better than Denver, and maybe you were except for Josh Allen didn't play like Josh Allen normally does. That's the reality of this. There's no other way to spin this. You want to blame the officials And is it a tough call? Yeah, in the moment, I thought there's no way that that's an interception. When they called it an interception, I said, there's no way they overturn it. And even Joe Burrow, Joe Burrow hasn't tweeted since August. John Burrow said, hey, get over it. The call was correct, Yeah, Pauline. 00:06:11 Speaker 5: Joe Burrow's tweet was the amount of people that don't understand what a catch is in the rule book flabbergasty. And it's not the officials. The two plays yesterday he talked about the one in the Bears game in the Bills game were not difficult calls and they got him both right. 00:06:24 Speaker 2: Yeah. So if I'm a Buffalo Bills fan, it's tough to swallow. This was your year. 00:06:31 Speaker 3: It cost you your head, coach, head coach reportedly had issues with the roster with their GM, and I think that that's a bigger issue where ownership in GM probably got together and said, well, wait a minute, that this guy didn't like what we're doing and we need to move on from him. Non paraphrasing there. But I wouldn't have fired Mike. I wouldn't have fired Sean McDermott. It's really hard to be consistently good in the league, and he was consistently good. Now you can say, is he going to be good enough to get us to a Super Bowl? I didn't think the roster was great. Well, who built the roster? Your GM did, But we blame Oh, we didn't get to the next level. Well, who are you blaming? It's usually the coach and we're in a day and age where man, what have you done for me lately? 00:07:28 Speaker 2: Uh? 00:07:29 Speaker 3: Kind of been good for a decade here. Yeah, but you know we had some fumbles and some interception. Yeah, but I didn't do that. Yeah, we got to blame somebody here. But FLOW fans may not like it, but don't be blaming the officials. Blame yourself because you easily could have won that game. 00:07:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, Pauling I. 00:07:52 Speaker 5: Don't think it's going to go that way for the Buffalo fans. I think they're gonna latch onto this video and this play and this bad call in their mind forever until they win a super Bowl like Dallas with the des Bryant thing more than a decade ago. The further they get from the Super Bowl, the bigger this play will stick in their cross. 00:08:10 Speaker 3: Well, is this the modern day Scott Norwood missed field goal? 00:08:13 Speaker 2: Now? 00:08:15 Speaker 5: Yeah, but you could blame it on somebody else. 00:08:17 Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. 00:08:19 Speaker 5: I just think it's gonna stay for a long long time. 00:08:21 Speaker 2: Yeah, well it shouldn't. It shouldn't. 00:08:28 Speaker 3: It's unfortunate though, but you know, with Sean McDermott, I mean, that's an impressive resume. Who's coming in? Who is your guy coming in? Because he has to get to the FC title game? 00:08:42 Speaker 6: Right? 00:08:43 Speaker 3: Who's coming in in Baltimore? You got to get to the AFC title game. I think the expectation level is crazy. Even Pittsburgh, you got to make the playoffs unless there's an announcement of hey we're going to renovate here, we got a retool here. 00:09:05 Speaker 2: But Pittsburgh's not going to do that. 00:09:09 Speaker 3: And the Chiefs, you know Mahomes will be coming back eventually, so you're still gonna have to deal with him. Joe Burrow in the Bengals might stay healthy. Is Jacksonville for real? Denver is going to be there, Chargers coming back. There'll be an outlier that you go, Wow, that team is on the rise here. But these coaching you know, when you start to point fingers, man, it's tough. 00:09:35 Speaker 2: Yeah, Ton, And if. 00:09:36 Speaker 7: The league just recycles or recirculates coaches that just had a job, who is left? 00:09:40 Speaker 5: That's so juicy. 00:09:41 Speaker 7: That is the answer. 00:09:42 Speaker 2: In Buffalo. 00:09:43 Speaker 7: If they're not going to find some hidden character, hidden candidate that we haven't really already mentioned. 00:09:47 Speaker 3: Well, you might find somebody. But you go in and what's the expectation level. You know, Robert saala is taking over Tennessee, what's the expectation level? 00:09:57 Speaker 2: Five wins? Six wins? That's about it. 00:10:03 Speaker 3: But if you're taking over a team like Baltimore with Lamar Jackson, a team like Buffalo with Josh Allen, we are making the playoffs? And how far are we going in the playoffs? Even Pittsburgh, Hey, you wanted Mike Tomlin out. All he did is win got you to the playoffs, maybe overachieved this year. But and for the life of me, I don't know why the Steelers would say, hey, we're open to bringing back Aaron Rodgers. Shouldn't that be up to the head coach who hasn't been hired, so now all of a sudden, coach comes in, he'll be the bad guy, when really the front office shouldn't be saying anything about Aaron Rodgers or just saying, hey, there's you know, we're open to possibilities here, but the head coach and the GM should have that, you know, make that decision. You can't put that on a guy who hadn't even taken the job yet all of a sudden. Brian Flores goes in. First question is what are you doing with Aaron Rodgers? I don't know, not bringing him back? And if you are bringing him back, what's that say about you know, your immediate future? Like, what are you doing? It's just the deep end is where the great teams are. You're in the kiddie pool. You're in a pool. You're just not where you need to be. And you bring back Aaron Rodgers, you know that doesn't I don't have a rush of confidence when I go Yeah, Aaron Rodgers played okay this year, probably better than a lot of people thought. But if I'm Pittsburgh, I want to know what is our future here? Who is our future here? And maybe you get Brian Flores in there, maybe Mike McCarthy in there. Okay, First thing I want to know is what are we doing? Like we're old? Who's our quarterback? What are we doing with TJ? 00:11:56 Speaker 2: Watt? 00:11:56 Speaker 3: Can we trade anybody here? What did we want in the draft? Need in the draft? So there's all these questions, but it just feels like ownership, front office. They're quick to move on. There is no patience and some of the greatest coaches in history they could have easily gotten fired into in today's landscape after two or three years, Like you go back to Mike Skryzewski Duke, it's like he would have been fired because nobody knew Mike Krzyzewski. And that's after what three years at Duke, You'd be like, I think we can move on from him. But having that patience to be able to see who that guy is, what that guy is, that's the hard part here. But some of these coaching candidates going in it's tough enough you walk in and it's like, all right, better be great. 00:12:50 Speaker 2: Uh, okay, just got here day one. Huh. That's tough. 00:12:55 Speaker 3: But that's what Baltimore's done, That's what Buffalo has done. Pittsburgh, you know, that's Mike Tomlin stepping down. So that's different. But man, it's fascinating, fascinating times for these coaching candidates and these teams and the expectation level. All right, see what's poll question for hour one on the program. By the way, the Giants with a win already. They won the press conference yesterday. 00:13:17 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's great, Good for you. Yeah. 00:13:22 Speaker 8: Would you rather be the head coach of the Browns or an offensive coordinator somewhere else? 00:13:28 Speaker 3: So? Would I rather be the Chargers OC or the Browns head coach? 00:13:32 Speaker 2: Any offensive coordinator? Gig? Yeah. 00:13:35 Speaker 3: I think Mike McDaniel needs to not reinvent himself, but I think kind of disappear and do what he does best as an OC. I don't know, do you want to walk into the Browns situation? Do you want to walk? I mean, the Dolphins might have done him a favor. By the way, did you see where the story actually came out when I got in from you? Know a source said ownership came in and fired Mike McDaniel right in front of another player. Darren Waller was doing an exit interview and Stephen Ross came in and interrupted that to fire him. And my sores told me that, and Darren Waller finally came out on a podcast and said, yeah, I was there. I saw it, Like really, can you wait two minutes? 00:14:27 Speaker 2: Yeah, Paully. 00:14:28 Speaker 5: If Mike McDaniel joins the Chargers, there has to be a Hard Knocks or some type of TV show harbor McDaniel. It's like a guy from the nineteen fifties hires a guy from twenty twenty and they're working together. 00:14:41 Speaker 3: Could be fascinating just listening to the conversation. They are an interesting duo. 00:14:46 Speaker 2: Yes, they are. 00:14:46 Speaker 8: That's a lot of personality right there. 00:14:48 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:14:49 Speaker 3: Todd called it the NFL's version of Stranger Things. You know, it's the upside down. 00:14:55 Speaker 7: Like weird and weirder, But I'm loving the dynamic of what's going to happen. 00:14:58 Speaker 2: Then who's Vecna? Who's vecna? Seton? 00:15:04 Speaker 3: You watched Stranger Things throughout? Did you watch all of it? 00:15:08 Speaker 2: I did you? Okay? Yeah? Yeah, I stopped like two seasons ago. 00:15:13 Speaker 8: I watched because I made it this far and I was just like, I'm just gonna see it out. 00:15:17 Speaker 6: You know. 00:15:17 Speaker 8: I didn't really care for the last season all that much, but they had a phenomenal season like season four I think maybe was really really great, So then that. 00:15:24 Speaker 2: Kind of kept me through. Zia three or four was really good. Vecna. 00:15:30 Speaker 3: We'll take a break here and we'll settle on a poll question phone calls always welcome. In an hour from now, Reggie Miller will stop by as well. Seaton, you want to give that analogy of Buffalo Bills fans. 00:16:38 Speaker 8: To They sound a lot like I'm just trying to remember another famous loss that a group of fans had a hard time accepting. Yeah, it's a it's akin to the Rich Eisen Show post Celebrity Family review. 00:17:00 Speaker 2: Not now. 00:17:00 Speaker 8: They were blaming and they were blaming the officials, they were braming the refs, they were blaming us, they were blaming the fans. The lights and the thing were too much, and the music I couldn't hear that. There's a lot of excuses, but it's just like, hey, you guys, Joe Burrow tweeted after that, you guys don't know the rules. 00:17:16 Speaker 2: Sorry you lost? 00:17:17 Speaker 3: Yeah, wow, Rich Eisen Show post Celebrity Family feud. 00:17:24 Speaker 8: It's very much like what the Buffalo Bills and their fans are experiencing right now. 00:17:29 Speaker 3: Oh, you guys got away with something like the rules and stuff So we're jumping around after celebrity family feud like we're excited and we know we're on TV, act even more excited. 00:17:40 Speaker 2: And they're complaining while we're going, yeah, you know, they're going, you got away with it. We went cheated, cheated, that should have been a catch. Was fixed? This is fixed? 00:17:51 Speaker 5: Yes, Yes, from what I recall, there was no There was a review by the refs at family feud. Fritzy said something and they said that's been used, and they said go again. Ritzy did what he was told by the reps. 00:18:05 Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't make up the rules, we just abided by them. 00:18:09 Speaker 2: That's all blaming you. Is there one play it's sad? Really it is. It's sad that was sad. 00:18:17 Speaker 3: Is there one play in your team's history though that you can't get you can't move on from, no matter what this sport is like the Cleveland Browns with Ernest Biner with the fumble. Is there one play where you go, I can't I can't move on from it? 00:18:34 Speaker 2: Yes, Marvin Jimmy g overthrowing Emmanuel Sanders in the end zone in the Super Bowl. Okay that was a short touchdown. Yeah. 00:18:41 Speaker 3: Yeah, it feels like everybody or you know that has a fandom has one of those moments where you go, what's the one play that you wish you could do over? 00:18:54 Speaker 2: And everybody seems to have something like that. 00:18:57 Speaker 5: Yeah, Paulie, mine's not a Chicago one. Mineus No Dame. USC two thousand and five, Matt Lioner gets pushed in by Reggie Bush, which was illegal at the time and wasn't called. And that one still as a Notre Dame supporter. 00:19:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, what about you? 00:19:13 Speaker 7: Todd the Broncos double overtime loss in Denver to the Ravens because of Raheem Moore let the Jacoby Jones get behind him in the final seconds of regulation and then Denver ends up losing it in double overtime, seven point lead, seconds left, and how do you let someone get behind you? 00:19:27 Speaker 2: Like, wow, Seaton, you got one. 00:19:32 Speaker 8: Well, I mean, if I'm keeping it to football, well, the helmet catch with David Tyree was that's a hell of a play. I don't know if that counts necessarily, but that was like, how the hell did that happen? 00:19:43 Speaker 2: You know what? 00:19:43 Speaker 8: Tom Brady dropping that pass against the Eagles, that sucked because that would have the whole what do the Eagles call that play the like the Philly Special. Yeah, the Patriots ran that play first and Brady dropped the ball, and then the Eagles ran it after and they caught it, and they get all of the credit for having the guts to play that. If Tom Brady had just caught that damn ball, they probably would have won the Super Bowl that year. 00:20:09 Speaker 3: Well, if you got a play that you can't move on from, you can dial us up eight seven to seven to three, DP Show Dale in California, Dale Dale. 00:20:20 Speaker 10: Hey, Dan, how are you doing? 00:20:21 Speaker 1: Brother? 00:20:21 Speaker 2: Good? Good, good good? 00:20:24 Speaker 10: Long time first time? Are one sixty five sixty two years old? 00:20:31 Speaker 2: Hard? 00:20:32 Speaker 10: Thank you? 00:20:32 Speaker 7: Sure? 00:20:33 Speaker 10: Hey, I just wanted to kind of comment on my Chargers fitn't be h. We're super stoked out here of the creation of the new odd couple with McDaniels and Harbaugh. I really think that's going to take us to the next level. And with that, you know, I want to send my condolences to Fritzy. As the season went on, I really thought this even to be the Broncos year, you know, just to get to the Super Bowl and leads to that other team we have out here called the Rams. But God willing you know, with Harball McDaniel and hopefully get our offensive Pro Bowl players back, and God willing keep him somewhat healthy over the year and add a piece or two. I think we'll be right there. 00:21:13 Speaker 2: All right, Thank you, Dale, Yes, Tod, I. 00:21:15 Speaker 7: Appreciate the sentiments by Dyal in California, but do not sleep on Stitty because Denver's coming. We still have the defense and Sean Payton's going to keep the offensive. 00:21:23 Speaker 2: Pause here we go. 00:21:25 Speaker 3: Here is Mike Rabel, the Patriots head coach, on Jared Stidham. 00:21:30 Speaker 11: Ironic, you know, just speaking with his agent, they're like, well, if you don't want, you're starting to get hurt. 00:21:34 Speaker 2: Hired signed jareded because. 00:21:37 Speaker 11: That was before you know, yesterday or two days ago, you know, just going back to when Josh had him and playing against that. I just think he sees things really well. I think he's athletic enough to extend. Like we talk about a lot of quarterbacks accuracy. I think the decision making, you know, he's really decisive in the games that. 00:21:55 Speaker 2: We went back and watched. 00:21:57 Speaker 11: And this is even going back to when I was in Tennessee as well. 00:22:00 Speaker 3: Yes, Stidham was there in New England, for a couple of years he is highly thought of as a backup quarterback, but now you want him to be highly thought of as your starting quarterback going against the Patriots. Pete in Seattle, Good morning, Pete. What's on your mind today? 00:22:17 Speaker 1: Gee? 00:22:17 Speaker 3: Dan? 00:22:18 Speaker 12: So far this week could spend a terribly negative time for the poor NFL. All your calls the last two days were Buffalo's problems. Chicago didn't go for a two point conversion, Texas almost benched their quarterback forty nine ers injuries. Even the ram caller on Monday wanted to talk about Dodger Baseball and never had injury. 00:22:40 Speaker 2: It was a wonderful. 00:22:41 Speaker 3: Weekend then, of course it was in Seattle, and you'll get that opportunity to have another wonderful weekend in Seattle. Well we do. On those Mondays, we look at the team that lost. Normally you look at the team that lost because their season is over. Seattle will not get the credit that it deserves for this entire season until they get to the super Bowl and win the Super Bowl. 00:23:09 Speaker 2: Not fair. 00:23:10 Speaker 3: But this comes down to your quarterback, Sam Darnold. We want to see if you can do it in a big moment. That's all and then hopefully if he does it in a big moment, Seattle gets its followers here. But this has been about the other teams and head coaching vacancies, those fired, those hired, and then it's oh, by the way, we got football coming up this weekend with Seattle hosting the Rams, and I've got the Rams getting two and a half against Seattle. The Patriots is still favored by five and a half in Denver. I have DraftKings just sent me this early Super Bowl lines. If Seattle faced the Patriots, Seattle against New England, Seattle would be favored by three and a half. If the Rams face the Patriots, according to DraftKings, the Rams would be favored by three. If the Seahawks played the Broncos in the Super Bowl, Seattle would be favored by nine and a half. If the Rams played the Broncos, the Rams would be favored by eight and a half. No respect, nope, none, whatsoever that Seattle and New England, they had been the betting favorites when the playoffs started to go to the Super Bowl, and Seattle would be a three and a half point favorede against New England. The Rams would be a three point favorite against New England. Let's see Doug in North Carolina. 00:24:45 Speaker 13: Hi, Doug, Hey, Dan, I have a biased question for you. As a lifelong Lions fan, I love Matt Stafford. He'll always hold a special place in my heart. I think he's truly a genuine guy. Conversely, I hate Aaron Rodgers. I don't think I've ever hated a professional athlete as much as I hate Aaron Rodgers. I don't even hate as a kid that Russian who beaten killed Apollo pre as much as I hate Aaron Rodgers. But my question is, if Matt wins a second Super Bowl, does he surpass Aaron Rodgers on that ranking of the all time greats? 00:25:20 Speaker 3: Probably not, because of the MVPs. And and you can talk to the old school football you know, player or coach, and they talk about Stafford is like, now he's Paul Bunyan, like he survived, he was tough, you know, throwing the football. 00:25:38 Speaker 2: Like they do compliment him. 00:25:40 Speaker 3: They don't compliment him the way they do Aaron Rodgers Rogers, Oh, he's the most talented player to ever play that position. Stafford is. And then you find out that some of these newer quarterbacks admired Matthew Stafford, like that's their idol. 00:25:57 Speaker 2: That's what's interesting. 00:25:59 Speaker 3: But Aaron Rodgers will be more highly thought of because Matthew Stafford's not decorated during the regular season, not decorated, and Aaron Rodgers certainly was. Ann Rodgers did have the one super Bowl but yeah another one. Yeah, okay, but I would say Rodgers would be more highly thought of, Yes, Marvin. 00:26:20 Speaker 2: And Stafford was never thought of as the best quarterback in the NFL, where Aaron Rodgers was for a period of time. Yeah. Ryan in Detroit, Hi, Ray, Hey, thanks for calling me back again. Dan. Yep. 00:26:34 Speaker 6: Perhaps Doug is bitter at Aaron Rodgers because he's a Lions fan and was getting beat up all those years, but that's not the reason I called. My question to you is about all the coaching changes, and I think one thing we're leaving out is the impact of the fans. The owners. They're going to make all their money no matter what, and they keep changing, and I think a lot of it has to do with fan pressure because the fans really want super Bowls, so all this change is you know, likely part of that pressure is in my opinion. 00:27:10 Speaker 3: Well, I think all of these owners hope to win a Super Bowl. Certain you have certain owners who expect to win a Super Bowl. I mean, Jerry Jones expects to win a Super Bowl. Doesn't mean he's close to doing it. Does Robert Kraft expect a Super Bowl this year? I would imagine the Rams Seattle like you're expecting super bowls. I don't think you're doing that in Tennessee, Carolina, Tampa, maybe Jacksonville. Your expectations are heightened. But in Buffalo you're expecting it. In Baltimore you're expecting it. I don't know if it's anything new. I just think it feels like there's more coverage of the NFL, more opportunity for people to have insight or sources that talk about these things what happened behind closed doors. You know, growing up, you never heard about any of this nothing, And we had a couple of insiders like Will McDonough from the Boston Globe, Jimmy the Greek kind of. 00:28:18 Speaker 2: But it wasn't a thing. 00:28:20 Speaker 3: You just like, it's almost like there was a separation of church and state, Like, you know, we shouldn't be talking about those things behind the scenes. We should be talking about what you see. But social media that's the big that's the big separator. 00:28:37 Speaker 2: Now. 00:28:37 Speaker 3: Now all of a sudden, you can vent on social media. Now anybody can have their voice heard, and maybe that's what's different. But I don't know if they're If you said to Buffalo fans, are you how confident are you right now? 00:28:53 Speaker 2: I wouldn't be. 00:28:56 Speaker 3: Like, I don't know who you're bringing in and is he going to be an grade from Sean McDermott, and how much time are you giving him? Because Josh Allen just turned thirty. This is a tricky time. Lamar Jackson at his age and the way he's playing now, and you can say maybe the way he's not playing, injury prone, not healthy last couple of years, seems like there's always a problem with him and the offensive coordinator. They come up small, you know, in big moments who's coming in and you're going to change all of that with the clock ticking on Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. They're not on rookie deals. They're going to have to extend Lamar Jackson. So you're walking in and it's one of those it's like when you're jogging on treadmill and there's certain teams that the treadmill is like it's two and a half miles per hour. You're walking into Buffalo and Baltimore. Then it's probably on fifteen and you're going to try to catch up to it. That's going to be really, really difficult. Imagine when you go in and it's year one and you go, oh wait, we just made the playoffs. We didn't get the AFC title game. My expectations for Buffalo and Baltimore shouldn't change. 00:30:27 Speaker 2: It shouldn't. 00:30:28 Speaker 3: Nobody's taking a step back, but one of those two teams has to lose and not make the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh, you're coming in. It's a foregone conclusion. We're going to make the playoffs, right until they announced that they're not. You know that they're going to renovate there, remodel, rebuild. Your expectation level is crazy. We'll talk a little bit about the Baseball Hall of Fame because Andrew Jones got in, Carlos Beltron got in, and there's still a guy that to me should be in and maybe this is the year that he gets in. 00:31:12 Speaker 2: We'll talk about that coming up. 00:31:13 Speaker 3: Also, your worst moment, the moment you can't move on from, Like Buffalo fans not moving on from the interception, We'll have that for you as well. 00:31:22 Speaker 2: Play the Day up next to here Dan Patrick show. 00:31:25 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Detford has their big lead of the night. They're up seventy one to fifty seven. 00:32:11 Speaker 3: And they lost the game. That's courtesy of Altitude Radio Network. The Lakers rally to win it one fifteen to one oh seven. The Nuggets have blown four leads of at least sixteen points this season. Play of the Day, Play of the Day brought to you by ol Man TSL The Ultimate Series, the QM eight K or QM nine K. Best seat in the House. Great TV we just got I think that one that we have in the back is ninety eight inches. That TV hammer Yeah wow. TCL is the official TV partner of the NFL and these TV is available at all major retailers. 00:32:53 Speaker 2: All right, our one poll question, Seaton, Yeah. 00:32:57 Speaker 8: Would you rather be the head coach of the Browns or or an offensive coordinator somewhere else? Do you want to get you want to guess these results? 00:33:06 Speaker 2: Sixty five percent say an offensive coordinator someplace else. 00:33:10 Speaker 8: That's that's kind of you, that's really kind of that's eighty two percent would rather be the offensive coordinator somewhere else. 00:33:16 Speaker 3: Well, I don't think Mike McDaniel was getting the Browns job, but the fact that if you look at the headline, he turns down or takes his name out of the running for the Browns job, and he decides to take the OC job with the Chargers. Baseball Hall of Fame, this is what happens. We criticize who gets in, usually like really, Andrew Jones, Carlos Beltron, it's a different baseball world. This, This isn't the slam dunk. Of course, he's a Hall of Famer. When you have to go, let me look at the numbers. Andrew Jones is top five greatest defensive center fielders of all time. Not a great hitter to fifty four average. But if we factor in defense at other positions like shortstop, second base catcher. Here's centerfield, and I think we have a bias against center fielders. I think, of all the positions in the Baseball Hall of Fame, is center field? Are there fewer center fielders in the Baseball Hall of Fame than any other position? 00:34:26 Speaker 2: Could you check that? 00:34:29 Speaker 3: Because I started to think about who's in as a center fielder. Obviously Willie Mays is, yes. 00:34:38 Speaker 2: Marvin Griffy and I'm drawing a blank. 00:34:41 Speaker 3: Yes, but these are two center fielders, Carlos Beltron and Andrew Jones. Andrew Jones played on those great Brave teams and a great defensive player came up and I think as a teenager playing in the World Series postseason, but I don't know. Did he have over three hundred and fifty home runs? Carlos Beltron great hitter, great hitter, Yeah, Paulie. 00:35:10 Speaker 5: I have Hall of Famers by position. According to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the fewest catchers with twenty. Everyone's about the same though with center fielder, yeah, it's twenty six, right fielder twenty nine, left fielder twenty three. There's only nineteen third basemen, so by the numbers, third baseman is the most. 00:35:30 Speaker 3: Rare So, Carlos Veltron, nine time All Star, three time goal Glove. And there are four players in history to have twenty seven hits, four hundred home runs, three hundred steals and score fifteen hundred runs Willie May's, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez. 00:35:45 Speaker 2: So whoa stell of the day? Stan? Today? Stan out of the day, SAA day. This is the stule of the day America. 00:36:01 Speaker 3: So out of those four players, Willie Mays was the only one that wasn't under suspicion. I mean Cardinals Beltron was part of the cheating scandal in Houston. I like, how, well it was only for one year. Well, I don't know where do we draw the line, Like, is that cheating worse than steroids? You know, I'm glad I only have to vote because you start to look at this and you go, all right, how do. 00:36:25 Speaker 2: We separate this? Like jose L Tuvay is going to be a Hall of Famer. 00:36:30 Speaker 3: I don't know how much of what he did was due to cheating, but he was involved in it. 00:36:36 Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I do feel like there's kind of a difference. Maybe it's splitting hairs between introducing some form of technology that helps you know what pitches are coming versus someone taking steroids. 00:36:52 Speaker 3: Cardinals Beltron was a great hitter. I'm okay with that. Andrew Jones' career batting average two fifty four, lowest of any Hall of Fame outfielder in history. 00:37:05 Speaker 2: But he won ten gold gloves when it used. 00:37:09 Speaker 3: I mean, it doesn't matter now nobody gets caught up in gold gloves anymore. When's the last time somebody said, you know, like Aeronato, man, he's a gold Okay, great, but I don't know if it comes up where you're going Molina gold glove. But it doesn't come up that much anymore. And it used to be something that you know, you took great pride in. 00:37:33 Speaker 2: Yeah, Todd, you're more likely. 00:37:34 Speaker 7: To call someone a five to two player than a gold glove. That's even more special, more what people would say about a player. 00:37:40 Speaker 5: Yes, PAULI going back to Altuve with Houston, he had six very good seasons. The problem is twenty seventeen he was MVP. Twenty seventeen is the season they are caught cheating. 00:37:51 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm glad I don't have to vote, but I will say this. Steve Garvey, you know, deserves to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame. 00:38:02 Speaker 2: Ten time All Star. 00:38:04 Speaker 3: I think his batting average like he's a two ninety four maybe career hitter, and I think he hit fifty points higher when he got into the postseason. He's a former MVP, four time goal glove winner, played for the Dodgers and the Padres. I'm missing something, and I know he's up with the Veterans Committee. In fact, I think he's kind of front and center and they vote in December. I believe on that maybe he gets in. 00:38:31 Speaker 2: Then. I think Tommy John is also mentioned in that. 00:38:35 Speaker 5: Yes, Paul again, ten time All Stars in any sport make the Hall of Fame. You can't find one that didn't. He also had two time NLCS MVP. He also won the All Star Game MVP twice, which I know is an exhibition, but it still goes on your resume. 00:38:50 Speaker 3: Back when the All Star Game meant something. But ten time All Star, four time goal glove Now. I did talk to a source who said, when Garby's name come up, it's like Benny Hannah. They chop him up defensively, to which I said to my source, well, he won for gold gloves. 00:39:09 Speaker 8: Yeah, do we often bring up things like NLCS MVP when talking about other Hall of Fame candidates, Well, I feel like we do. 00:39:20 Speaker 3: I think you have to bring up the further away we get from your career. 00:39:25 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we do. 00:39:26 Speaker 3: I saw Garvey, you know, in his prime, and I think having that as an MVP ten times, let's say just MVP and All Star. You don't have to mention what he did in the postseason if you don't want to, or the All Star Game. 00:39:41 Speaker 2: That feels like that's Hall of Fame. Yeah, Todd? 00:39:46 Speaker 7: Could you be too handsome for the Hall of Fame? Where the pressure is on the people making the bus? How can we possibly capture that? They don't have to worry about the big forearms? But you got to get the. 00:39:54 Speaker 2: Face right, Todd. I'm in the Broadcasting Hall of Fame. 00:39:59 Speaker 7: They probably should have not included you because it'd be too hard to chisel. 00:40:03 Speaker 2: But we're looking at right fair enough. Yeah. 00:40:05 Speaker 8: I just don't know that when we talk about say like Bryce Harper, we're like, bust NLCS MVP, What are you talking about? 00:40:11 Speaker 2: He's been great. 00:40:12 Speaker 8: I just I don't really see that as something that we bring up unless we are trying to use it as a metric. Should we bring up gold gloves? I don't know, there's a lot of them, but we do. I mean, you're gonna be like ten time gold Glover. I mean people definitely say that stuff. 00:40:25 Speaker 3: But I don't think anybody brings up who were the gold Glove winners this year. 00:40:30 Speaker 2: I don't think anybody cares. 00:40:31 Speaker 8: I don't know who is the NLCS MVP in twenty twenty four, Uh. 00:40:36 Speaker 2: Kyle Schwarber exactly. Nobody, nobody knows, nobody cares. 00:40:40 Speaker 3: But if we look back on the totality of your career, I would think that you would you would want to single out those things. We talk about postseason with pitchers, So if you're great in the postseason as a hitter, then we should highlight that. I don't have any problem with that reminding people of that. Yeah, Paul, you could almost cop Steve Gary be a little bit. Derek Jeeter, big market, very good regular season, even better in the postseason. Yeah, but Jeter won a lot of World Series. That's the difference. Coming up, Jason Garrett talk about the pressure on whoever takes over in Buffalo and Baltimore and Pittsburgh Hour two on this Wednesday, after this
