<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, I just write a chand write as I'm starting. Hey, everybody, <v Speaker 1>welcome to game Breaking News with me Jeff Grab your <v Speaker 1>host from giant bomb dot com. <v Speaker 2>Thank you for tuning in. <v Speaker 1>In this episode, we're gonna be talking about why Rockstar <v Speaker 1>won't announce Grand Theft Auto six release date, and if <v Speaker 1>Sean gets mad at me for that intro, it's his fault. <v Speaker 1>He sent me a message that was pretty funny. It's <v Speaker 1>gonna be a good one, everybody. We have Emma Phife <v Speaker 1>on the show. Emma, how are you doing. <v Speaker 3>I'm just great. <v Speaker 4>We've been running a wayward hotel for traveling authors. <v Speaker 3>Uh sure, people's dogs. <v Speaker 4>You know, We've just we've had a lot of activity <v Speaker 4>around this apartment lately. <v Speaker 1>So it sounds like a good time. H Is that <v Speaker 1>something like happens like once a year. Is at like <v Speaker 1>a convoy? <v Speaker 4>So there was no basically yeah, it was basically there <v Speaker 4>was an author conclave that happened, uh this past week <v Speaker 4>in La and so that's why. <v Speaker 2>We elect the New Book Pope. <v Speaker 3>Exactly when you elect the New Book Pope. <v Speaker 4>And this year it happened to take place in La <v Speaker 4>So you know, there were people in and out no. <v Speaker 4>AWP is a like author's conference that happens once a <v Speaker 4>year and it happened to be in Los Angeles this year, <v Speaker 4>so you know, Gabe becomes my husband comes from that <v Speaker 4>publishing world and. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, that's uh, that sounds like a good time. <v Speaker 1>Is it the kind of thing where it's like a <v Speaker 1>little bit Book E three where it is. <v Speaker 3>It's totally what it is. <v Speaker 4>It's Book E three, like it's you know, it's all <v Speaker 4>the various publishing companies have booths and they're trying to <v Speaker 4>get their work out there, and it's authors connecting with <v Speaker 4>each other, which is why we did the Outer Wilds <v Speaker 4>release when we did was because like it just like <v Speaker 4>timing wise, we happened to get hard copies of the <v Speaker 4>book at the exact right time. So that was why <v Speaker 4>we ended up having that little release event on Saturday <v Speaker 4>last weekend, which was really nice. So yeah, it's but yeah, <v Speaker 4>since we've had a flurry of activity in our home <v Speaker 4>and including a visiting dog at the moment who I <v Speaker 4>heard barking, but I heard her stop. <v Speaker 3>She's a very good dog. <v Speaker 1>I was like, do I tol, Yeah, no, no, absolutely, <v Speaker 1>she's welcome on the show. It's it's switched to week, <v Speaker 1>we're gonna get some We're gonna get that switch to <v Speaker 1>direct on Wednesday. The way the time it's going to <v Speaker 1>work out, everybody, we're gonna have a talkover. We should <v Speaker 1>have kind of a post show where we talk about everything. <v Speaker 1>Pretty soon after that this show will start, and then <v Speaker 1>I don't know, maybe we'll have a few more chances <v Speaker 1>during the day to kind of go over anything big <v Speaker 1>that might have gotten announced. My hope is is that <v Speaker 1>like the preorders go live like later that day, like <v Speaker 1>during one of our shows, so we could just have <v Speaker 1>a whole show dedicated trying to pre order a switch to. <v Speaker 1>But who knows exactly how that's all gonna break down. <v Speaker 1>It's a new story today. One of them says it's <v Speaker 1>gonna be very hard to get your hands on a <v Speaker 1>switch to. We'll see about all of that, but yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's gonna be a good time Wednesday, looking forward to it. <v Speaker 1>You ready to try to hop on and try to <v Speaker 1>get a pre order or what's your plan? <v Speaker 4>Gosh, no, I can't. I just simply can't. I'm gonna wait. <v Speaker 4>So the way I ended up with a PlayStation five <v Speaker 4>truly was there was another person in my Twitch community <v Speaker 4>who both he he had tried to get PS fives <v Speaker 4>for both himself and his brother, and his brother did <v Speaker 4>the same. <v Speaker 3>His brother managed to get one, he managed. <v Speaker 4>To get two, so I and he was relatively local <v Speaker 4>to La so I literally like met up with him <v Speaker 4>in the parking at the Blank Mall and I gave <v Speaker 4>him money for a ps. <v Speaker 2>Fy oh Man Burbank Mall. <v Speaker 1>That's where I bought orange pants once because I forgot <v Speaker 1>pants on a trip to E three. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, it's a good time. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, yeah, I And honestly, that is probably how <v Speaker 1>it's gonna go for the first few months, where it's <v Speaker 1>like it's gonna be tough to get one of these things, <v Speaker 1>and then if you really want one, it probably is <v Speaker 1>gonna you have to rely on the kindness of strangers <v Speaker 1>to help. <v Speaker 2>Hook you up a totally. We'll see. <v Speaker 1>I'm looking forward to it. I'm gonna try, you know, <v Speaker 1>to pre orders even happen this week. We really, we <v Speaker 1>really don't know. It could be a whole a week <v Speaker 1>later or further. We don't know release date about this <v Speaker 1>thing yet, so we'll get all the information and talk <v Speaker 1>about it, but it's kind of taken all the oxygen <v Speaker 1>out of the room this week, I was like, looking <v Speaker 1>at new releases, there's some stuff, but there's just not <v Speaker 1>a ton of things happening, So keep our keep our <v Speaker 1>eye on what Nintendo is doing instead. All right, let's <v Speaker 1>explain what we do here most weekdays, I, Jeff Greb <v Speaker 1>will help piece your gaming life back together. It includes <v Speaker 1>breaking news and maybe even some of our own original reporting. <v Speaker 1>For all these topics, I'll get the input of a <v Speaker 1>bona fide expert who will make me look smart. If <v Speaker 1>you are watching live on twitch, welcome. You can always <v Speaker 1>listen to the show later on podcast feeds by searching <v Speaker 1>for game breaking news, or find the RSS feed on <v Speaker 1>giant bomb dot com. You can also catch the show <v Speaker 1>later with later on YouTube. Hello YouTube. <v Speaker 2>That's right, we remove that for now. <v Speaker 1>We have a lot to get into, so let's start <v Speaker 1>the show with Take two. CEO says Grand Theft Auto <v Speaker 1>six release date won't be revealed until closer to launch. <v Speaker 2>This is from Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. <v Speaker 1>Besides that one trailer we got to cap off twenty <v Speaker 1>twenty three, more than a year ago, we've heard nothing <v Speaker 1>official on Grand Theft Auto six. Besides the constant reminders <v Speaker 1>that it's been that it's meant to come out this year, <v Speaker 1>without another trailer or release date announcement, though some fans <v Speaker 1>hopes are starting to waiver. According to Strauss Zelnick Take <v Speaker 1>two CEO, this all appears part of the plan in <v Speaker 1>order to create the most anticipation possible. Speaking of Bloomberg, <v Speaker 1>Celtic explained that there's no release date or new trailer <v Speaker 1>because Rockstar Intake two want to maintain anticipation and excitement. <v Speaker 1>We found that the better thing to do is to <v Speaker 1>provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window. That's <v Speaker 1>what we are trying to do now, he said. So <v Speaker 1>the first trailer that was nearly two years away from <v Speaker 1>release may have just been. It may have just existed <v Speaker 1>to confirm that the game was real. Really, I think <v Speaker 1>that existed because they thought the game would come out, <v Speaker 1>maybe even last year. At one point that was clearly <v Speaker 1>not going to happen. It's coming out this year, though, <v Speaker 1>according to them, and this is not too strange. <v Speaker 3>It's extremely usual as a. <v Speaker 2>Matter of fact, at this point. It's how it was. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, yes, I think that, you know, I don't know <v Speaker 4>that this was necessarily the straw that broke the camel's back. <v Speaker 3>In terms of being very. <v Speaker 4>What's the word I'm looking for, very like optimistic with <v Speaker 4>your release dates? <v Speaker 3>Shall we say? <v Speaker 4>Is I think of the example of Cyberpunk, because when <v Speaker 4>Cyberpunk came out in twenty twenty, it was a mess, <v Speaker 4>and I think that, like again, it was just and they'd. <v Speaker 3>Been changing the release date. <v Speaker 4>And I think that the problem is is that, like, <v Speaker 4>once you promise a release date, people are expecting that, <v Speaker 4>and so I think that gaming companies have learned that <v Speaker 4>it's better to go the secret Nintendo route of here's <v Speaker 4>Super Mario Brothers Wonder, it comes out in three months. <v Speaker 2>Now. <v Speaker 4>Obviously, in this case, we know that this game exists, <v Speaker 4>so it's not quite as advantageous as like a Super <v Speaker 4>Mario Brothers Wonder or a Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, <v Speaker 4>or again, we just simply didn't know those games existed <v Speaker 4>and then suddenly they were available to play. And certainly <v Speaker 4>these are much larger scale games. Those are like smaller <v Speaker 4>scale Nintendo games. But what I'm saying is that I <v Speaker 4>think that until you're really sure that this game is ready, <v Speaker 4>it makes sense to just be vague about your release dates. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think they were also scared of They probably <v Speaker 1>heard the Remlans Tomadacci Life was coming. They didn't want <v Speaker 1>to release exact that. Yeah, yep, take all the energy <v Speaker 1>away from the Grand Theft Auto six release. <v Speaker 2>And I get it. Now that they know it's twenty <v Speaker 2>twenty six, they can maybe be more sure. You're right. <v Speaker 1>It's like it's too pronged and really or maybe it's <v Speaker 1>like a tier thing where most importantly they don't know <v Speaker 1>when it's coming out, and like, like you said, that <v Speaker 1>is so this gives them the wiggle room to move <v Speaker 1>things within this year for sure, and then if they <v Speaker 1>have to delay it later to twenty twenty six, it's <v Speaker 1>not as painful all those things you sort of ran <v Speaker 1>down and then you know the tier below that is <v Speaker 1>this also saves a lot of money having a long <v Speaker 1>extended marketing campaign. <v Speaker 3>Yes, exactly, it's just not any. <v Speaker 1>Like I don't think we have any evidence in front <v Speaker 1>of us at this point, Emma, that those long extended <v Speaker 1>marketing campaigns actually made all the that much of a difference, <v Speaker 1>especially for product like Grant that Battle six right, everyone <v Speaker 1>knows about it, and maybe the mystery at this point <v Speaker 1>creates more excitement. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. Yeah. <v Speaker 4>Again, look, when you have a series that is like GTA, <v Speaker 4>that already has the hype around it, you don't need <v Speaker 4>to put a lot of dollars into marketing. <v Speaker 3>You just don't because it's not going to move the needle. <v Speaker 2>Yeah it's uh. <v Speaker 1>And then you know, so when they do start the <v Speaker 1>marketing campaign, this has been the way it's gone extremely usual. <v Speaker 1>As you said, I think for me, the one I <v Speaker 1>always point out like that really changed it for for <v Speaker 1>a lot of people was and it didn't at this point. <v Speaker 2>This is a long marketing campaign. But the six months from. <v Speaker 1>E three up to Fallout four where no one really <v Speaker 1>knew about that game, then suddenly Fallout four gets announced <v Speaker 1>and then it's out that November. That's that was a <v Speaker 1>quick you know, that was a big change from the <v Speaker 1>years of trailers and information about a game. And I <v Speaker 1>think everyone looked around, but man, fall of four did <v Speaker 1>really well in terms of sales. Why are why are <v Speaker 1>we spending so much money having years long marketing campaigns? <v Speaker 1>So yes, I think that this is the way things are. <v Speaker 1>And then it gives them a lot more freedom to <v Speaker 1>move things around. And yeah, they probably don't know the <v Speaker 1>exact release date themselves. I'm sure they have good ideas <v Speaker 1>about what they want to do, what they want to <v Speaker 1>hit soft ideas internally, but I think they are they <v Speaker 1>don't know for sure if they're going to be able <v Speaker 1>to hit any of them. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, and it is nice in a way when when <v Speaker 4>a company does have the leeway to set their own <v Speaker 4>release state and not be beholden to a date that <v Speaker 4>they have already announced. Again, certainly internally they have deadlines <v Speaker 4>that they're trying to meet, but like just release the <v Speaker 4>game when it's ready, you know, obviously like work on it. <v Speaker 3>They clearly are. <v Speaker 4>You know, this is I'm sure they are anticipating this <v Speaker 4>game making tremendous amounts of revenue. But again, it's like <v Speaker 4>when it's at the end of the day, it's a <v Speaker 4>video game. It is not brains Okay, this is not <v Speaker 4>really a timely thing. <v Speaker 2>Yep. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and yeah, exactly, they'll they'll it'll be ready when <v Speaker 1>it's ready. <v Speaker 3>They'll be ready when it's ready. It doesn't matter. <v Speaker 1>And they can they have like a lot of money <v Speaker 1>so that when it is like, okay, time to kick <v Speaker 1>everything into gear, they have stuff lying in wait. <v Speaker 2>You know. <v Speaker 1>That also is costly to have teams just sitting there <v Speaker 1>kind of you know, well we have plans and stuff, <v Speaker 1>but we're just kind of you have to pay us <v Speaker 1>every day until it's time to actually start this stuff up. <v Speaker 1>Sure that costs some money, but really it begins to <v Speaker 1>get expensive once you're running ads on TV and things <v Speaker 1>like that. So they're just lining in wait and they <v Speaker 1>can spring into action when it's time. <v Speaker 3>Exactly. <v Speaker 2>All right, let's move on. <v Speaker 1>Here's Zelda movie is being filmed in New Zealand and <v Speaker 1>rumored to be a trilogy. This is from my Nintendo News. <v Speaker 1>More details have emerged regarding the long awaited live action <v Speaker 1>The Legend of Zelda movie. The film is apparently being <v Speaker 1>filmed in beautiful New Zealand and the start date for <v Speaker 1>filming is November of this year. <v Speaker 2>There's more though. The film is apparently rumored to be <v Speaker 2>a trilogy. <v Speaker 1>Nintendo announce Friday that This Elder Movie will be released <v Speaker 1>in theaters March twenty twenty seven. <v Speaker 2>They did that on the Nintendo Today app. <v Speaker 1>So apparently the way it's going to be trilogy is <v Speaker 1>they would film the first movie starting in November, and <v Speaker 1>then the plan is to film the next two movies <v Speaker 1>after that, within this next week. <v Speaker 3>We're going to Peter Jackson it. Oh oh, within six years. <v Speaker 4>So they're not making them live in New Zealand for <v Speaker 4>two years and just do nothing. <v Speaker 2>But film doesn't sound like it. <v Speaker 1>Although I was when I first heard this, I had <v Speaker 1>the same thought and was like, that's okay. You know, <v Speaker 1>if you're going to go for it, go for it. <v Speaker 1>So I was kind of hopeful, but I think they're <v Speaker 1>they're probably gonna want to see how this first movie does, <v Speaker 1>so you see, but you know, over the next six years, <v Speaker 1>that's still a pretty you know, quick timeline of a Yeah. <v Speaker 4>I mean, here's the thing is that they're saying it's <v Speaker 4>a trilogy. However, if they're not Peter Jackson in it, <v Speaker 4>it's not guaranteed to be a trilogy, no way. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's you know, from a guarantee. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, And you know, I saw Jan and Chat being like, <v Speaker 4>maybe make one movie first, and again, like, I do <v Speaker 4>support that, and I have had many times on this podcast. <v Speaker 4>I'm sure that I fully believe that the way that <v Speaker 4>you should do a Legend of Zelda movie is you <v Speaker 4>do Majora's Mask and you make it a horror movie <v Speaker 4>for kids, and it's completely self contained. Uh, they will never, ever, <v Speaker 4>ever in a million years do that because it's missing <v Speaker 4>a lot of the Zelda sign posts. But that's how <v Speaker 4>you make a good Zelda movie, in my opinion, that <v Speaker 4>you're setting yourself up for success. Do they care that <v Speaker 4>this is good? I don't think so. Like everything I've <v Speaker 4>read about this, they're like, it's gonna be really cool, <v Speaker 4>and I'm like, okay, great, great. <v Speaker 1>You know, I'm sure that there are those that Nintendo <v Speaker 1>that hope it's or want it to be good, but <v Speaker 1>like they they just don't understand the movie make money. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, they mostly just wanted to make money. <v Speaker 1>I mean, there's a reason that they didn't make movies <v Speaker 1>like this for a very long time after the Super <v Speaker 1>Mario Brothers movie one, and that was kind of a flop. <v Speaker 1>But also it was they considered it to be very <v Speaker 1>bad and embarrassing. So they don't want to be embarrassed here. <v Speaker 1>But I think, you know, when they go to work <v Speaker 1>with Sony Pictures and Sony Pictures is making this movie, <v Speaker 1>Sony Pictures is definitely and you know Avia Rod is <v Speaker 1>producing it. It's definitely just about let's make some money <v Speaker 1>with this thing. <v Speaker 3>Let's make some money. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think they also mentioned that, at least according <v Speaker 1>to the rumors, cast has been locked in, like the <v Speaker 1>main cast has been locked in for a while now, <v Speaker 1>Well what about Jack black is link huh before in Yeah, <v Speaker 1>maybe that could. <v Speaker 2>Work or or Chris Pratt of course, uh for sure. <v Speaker 1>But they're also planning to continue to cast or you know, <v Speaker 1>find out who the rest of the cast is going <v Speaker 1>to be over the next few months between what we're <v Speaker 1>in April now. <v Speaker 2>Basically going to announce it. <v Speaker 3>Remember the Mario movie, how they announced it during a Nintendo. <v Speaker 2>Do I yes, I almost passed out when they said <v Speaker 2>Chris Pratt. I was laughing so hard. <v Speaker 3>I just Chris and the translation of what me about? <v Speaker 3>I was saying, Chris Pratt, He's so cool. <v Speaker 1>He's so cool, I guess so yep, that definitely got <v Speaker 1>me out. They should do the same thing, absolutely, especially. <v Speaker 2>If it's just as buck while as the Mario cast. <v Speaker 1>But they said they're going to finalize casting by August <v Speaker 1>at least the rumors said that, so that'll be probably <v Speaker 1>secondary characters. <v Speaker 2>I'm curious. <v Speaker 1>I think the one thing we really haven't heard much <v Speaker 1>about is, you know, script writers. I think that's been <v Speaker 1>kind of a problem for him. So huh, this can <v Speaker 1>come together, you know, just making a venture movie about <v Speaker 1>getting together the Try Force and saving. <v Speaker 2>Zelda or whatever and totally on turns of the chic one. <v Speaker 4>You can be as mad as you want about the <v Speaker 4>Friday specials of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show that were. <v Speaker 3>Legend of Zelda. But like that is the way to <v Speaker 3>do it. <v Speaker 4>It's just like, here's an adventure show about getting the <v Speaker 4>Try Force. <v Speaker 2>That's it exactly, So make it complicated, princess. Yeah, all right. <v Speaker 1>Sticking with the Nintendo news for now, Tomodachi Life switch <v Speaker 1>reveal has broken Nintendo's social media engagement records. <v Speaker 2>This is from my Nintendo News. <v Speaker 1>Tomadachi Life, Well Living the Dream was the very last <v Speaker 1>game that Nintendo revealed in the Switch one direct that <v Speaker 1>was held earlier this week. Although the game won't be <v Speaker 1>releasing on the Switch until next year, it has been <v Speaker 1>more than a decade since the last Tomadachi Life game <v Speaker 1>was released, and. <v Speaker 2>That was on the three DS. <v Speaker 1>It is something that quite a few Nintendo fans have <v Speaker 1>been waiting for and wanting ever since the Switch launched <v Speaker 1>in twenty seventeen. You may be surprised to hear, however, <v Speaker 1>just how much hype there is for this game. The <v Speaker 1>game's revealed trailer is very popular right now, not just <v Speaker 1>in Japan, but in America or in the United States <v Speaker 1>as well. For example, as of less than a day ago, <v Speaker 1>Nintendo of America's Instagram post of the trailer has received <v Speaker 1>two hundred and ninety eight thousand likes in counting in <v Speaker 1>comparison to the Metroit Prime four trailer that was also <v Speaker 1>in the recent Switch one direct got forty four thousand likes. Now, <v Speaker 1>we knew about Metroit Prime four, didn't know about Tomodachi Life, so. <v Speaker 2>It's gonna be a little bit different there, but yeah, damn. <v Speaker 1>In fact, the only thing that Metroid Prime Fur trailer <v Speaker 1>is currently outpacing Tomodachi Life Living the Dreams trailer on <v Speaker 1>is the amount of use on Nintendo of America's YouTube channel. <v Speaker 1>In Japan, Tomodachi Life is even more popular. In fact, <v Speaker 1>Nintendo's Japanese Twitter account posting of the Tomodachi Life Living <v Speaker 1>the Dream trailer has racked up four hundred thousand likes. <v Speaker 1>Not only has this surpassed the amount of likes that <v Speaker 1>the same account received from the Switch to reveal trailer <v Speaker 1>in January January, but this is now officially the most <v Speaker 1>liked posting on the account ever, and then it's doing <v Speaker 1>well on the Japanese YouTube account as well. So yeah, <v Speaker 1>I think it's it's I think a lot of people <v Speaker 1>see Tomadaci Life and I was excited for it, and <v Speaker 1>a lot of people don't just don't get it. They <v Speaker 1>haven't played it before or it's not the original. <v Speaker 3>But I was thinking about was it was it a <v Speaker 3>DS game? <v Speaker 2>It was, yes, it was on No, it was three DS. <v Speaker 1>Tomodachi Life, Okay, okay, And it's it's very cool. I <v Speaker 1>like it a lot, but it ended that basically ended <v Speaker 1>the direct They had one thing after the announcement of <v Speaker 1>Nintendo Today that barely counts, but that was basically the <v Speaker 1>final thing, and a lot of people like, what the <v Speaker 1>hell why would they end on this? <v Speaker 2>Well, this is why there are a lot of people <v Speaker 2>out there that aren't like you. <v Speaker 3>Really. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and the time has made money buy catering to <v Speaker 1>people like this for a very long time, one. <v Speaker 3>Hundred percent, and I will. <v Speaker 4>And again it's like I think that sometimes in the <v Speaker 4>US we get sort of blinded by the fact that <v Speaker 4>we are not the only market, particularly when it comes <v Speaker 4>to console games. <v Speaker 1>And the reason there's a big reason for that, because we <v Speaker 1>get treated like we're the only market by most of <v Speaker 1>the other companies, even like a Japanese company move their <v Speaker 1>headquarters to the United States, they closed japan studios. They <v Speaker 1>said explicitly, out loud, we want to make games that <v Speaker 1>appeal worldwide. That was code for sales in the United States. <v Speaker 3>Sells in the US, yup. <v Speaker 1>And then meanwhile Nintendo's like, I don't know, Splatoon is <v Speaker 1>the biggest fucking thing that's ever launched in Japan, and. <v Speaker 2>It's fat country exactly. <v Speaker 1>And we're making a ton of money just from our <v Speaker 1>local market. Oh, it's doing well in the United States. <v Speaker 1>Well that's nice. It's yes, weird, you're right, but Nintendo <v Speaker 1>has found how to continue churning that magic in its <v Speaker 1>home territory, and Tomadachi Life clearly is a big part <v Speaker 1>of that. Although it is globally popular, obviously much more <v Speaker 1>popular in Japan. <v Speaker 3>I can't believe I didn't play it. This looks like <v Speaker 3>a game I would like. <v Speaker 1>So it's just a fun, little emergent storytelling game. My <v Speaker 1>kids have actually been playing it on the three DS <v Speaker 1>for the last month or so. I got it out <v Speaker 1>for them, and it was like, you know what, check <v Speaker 1>this out. And they tell little stories and Emmy makes <v Speaker 1>a bunch of cat characters who sing songs about how <v Speaker 1>dogs are dumb and stuff like that. <v Speaker 2>It's very cute. <v Speaker 3>That's really cute. <v Speaker 4>My question about it is if it was on the <v Speaker 4>three DS, did it support street pass? <v Speaker 2>I think it had some street pass functionality that sounds right. Yes. <v Speaker 4>I just remember when I was a VIP tour guide <v Speaker 4>at Universal, I would walk around with my three DS <v Speaker 4>in my pocket. That's good, so that I could street <v Speaker 4>pass all the people in the park, and then I <v Speaker 4>would get all these new little friends for what was <v Speaker 4>it called me Tomo the like me. <v Speaker 2>Plaza? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yes, Memo was a like a full fledged me <v Speaker 1>game that could use your mees. <v Speaker 2>But me Plasa had the that's but isn't that. <v Speaker 4>The one where like you would you had to like <v Speaker 4>try to you were trying to rescue yourself, yes, and <v Speaker 4>you like little Cruise Yeah yeah yeah that's uh. <v Speaker 2>Is that the one or is that the one they <v Speaker 2>released on Switch recently as a remake? I can't remember. <v Speaker 3>Yes they did, Yeah they did, they did. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, okay, yeah, very cool. <v Speaker 3>Yes, I was a total street pass sicco. <v Speaker 1>I would really like to see that kind of stuff <v Speaker 1>return and man, if they have street pass and switch <v Speaker 1>to that'd be awesome. <v Speaker 2>I'm not getting my hopes up, but uh it was <v Speaker 2>yeah me Topia. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that was the social app where you can take <v Speaker 1>the k mees and make weird little picture. <v Speaker 3>Your friends as me and ask them questions. <v Speaker 4>Like I remember people who I like didn't know super well. <v Speaker 3>I like got to know both them and meat. It <v Speaker 3>was so weird. <v Speaker 2>Uh. <v Speaker 1>In check some people have frantic finesse for examples, like <v Speaker 1>what do you do in Tomodacci? Like, I have no idea, <v Speaker 1>I'll just I want to just describe it as best <v Speaker 1>I can real quick you at least. So for the <v Speaker 1>one for three DS, you would create a meat, or <v Speaker 1>you would bring in your me. Your me would move <v Speaker 1>into an apartment and then would begin sing to an apartment. Yes, <v Speaker 1>and it's an apartment complex, so it was like this <v Speaker 1>big building and each each window was a different apartment, <v Speaker 1>and then you would slowly over time have more people <v Speaker 1>move in and all these. <v Speaker 2>Would be your other means. <v Speaker 1>So or you could like create a meat specifically in <v Speaker 1>the game, and then as you would do this, you <v Speaker 1>could set their their temperament, their attitude, their their voice, <v Speaker 1>things like that, the things they like to do, like vaguely, <v Speaker 1>and then those characters would either go out in the <v Speaker 1>world and do things on their own, or you could <v Speaker 1>sort of guide one of them at a time and <v Speaker 1>unlock new buildings that have new functionality, like the music <v Speaker 1>hall where has people. It's like as a reward for <v Speaker 1>doing something, so I might give you a piece of <v Speaker 1>music and now you could take that to the music <v Speaker 1>hall and rework the lyrics to sing whatever you want, <v Speaker 1>and they would use the game's text a speech to <v Speaker 1>actually make that into a real song. It is vignettes <v Speaker 1>of small, little interactive scenes of emergent storytelling where these <v Speaker 1>characters are interacted with one another. Eventually, you know you <v Speaker 1>have to set like, oh, is this character a kid, <v Speaker 1>because if they're a kid, they can't get married. But <v Speaker 1>if it's not a kid, it's an adult, it could <v Speaker 1>get married somewhere else and you can go and test. <v Speaker 3>Relationship, get gay married in in like this. <v Speaker 2>No, you could not get gay married. <v Speaker 1>This was actually a pretty big deal back at the time, <v Speaker 1>and Nintendo gotten a little bit of hot water for <v Speaker 1>being like, what are gays and it's like that is <v Speaker 1>one thing that people are waiting at. Yes, people are <v Speaker 1>waiting to see if they fixed that this time. <v Speaker 2>My god, it they. <v Speaker 4>Got to catch up to Square and allow and allow <v Speaker 4>gay marriage. <v Speaker 2>They got to catch up to a lot of things. Yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 2>I'm just. <v Speaker 3>Bringing up an example of another Japanese company. <v Speaker 2>Oh yes, definitely. Yeah, but it's I think that this <v Speaker 2>time they probably should. Well we'll see, sure, hope. <v Speaker 1>So overall though, it's like it's just a life sim Yeah, <v Speaker 1>and I really enjoyed it. But it's all about like <v Speaker 1>it's a good game to stream with a community that's <v Speaker 1>like invested in all your knees because when things happen, <v Speaker 1>it is like, oh my god. <v Speaker 2>I can't believe these two are going on a date. <v Speaker 2>It's that kind of fun stuff, all right. <v Speaker 1>Switch To preorders expected to sell out on day one <v Speaker 1>due to limited unit allocation. This is from Liam Doolan <v Speaker 1>at Nintendo Life, following a report from Insider Gamings Tom <v Speaker 1>Henderson earlier this week suggesting that switch To would launch <v Speaker 1>in June with a three phase software plan. There's now <v Speaker 1>an update to that, according to an internal email. <v Speaker 2>Excuse me. <v Speaker 1>According to internal emails and documents provided to the same <v Speaker 1>outlet from a large US retailer. Switch To stock is <v Speaker 1>expected to sell out on the same day as preorders open. <v Speaker 1>According to Insider Gaming, retailers are expecting that they will <v Speaker 1>run out of pre order units for the switch To <v Speaker 1>on day one, despite Nintendo allegedly accumulating a large quantity <v Speaker 1>for launch. That's according to internal emails and documents. And <v Speaker 1>then Nintendo and US retailers are participating that they will <v Speaker 1>sell out of the switch To on the same day. <v Speaker 2>Blah blah blah. Basically, that's just the quote that. <v Speaker 1>Says the same stuff we already got. This is probably <v Speaker 1>just going to be like the Pains on pre order day. <v Speaker 1>Nintendo has been spending a lot long time producing these systems. <v Speaker 2>It seems like, you know. <v Speaker 1>We've had reports they've already shipped a bunch to the <v Speaker 1>United States way back in like you know, January. There's <v Speaker 1>got to be more coming all the time, just sitting <v Speaker 1>in warehouses ready to go. I think on day one <v Speaker 1>Nintendo will do allow a portion of those to retailers <v Speaker 1>and then try to have like a portion of those <v Speaker 1>ready to go maybe every week afterward for some time. <v Speaker 1>But my guess here is this is going to be <v Speaker 1>very painful or for anyone who just has to have <v Speaker 1>the system right away? <v Speaker 2>Right? <v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, that it's so interesting because this is just <v Speaker 4>kind of part and parcel for new console releases now. <v Speaker 3>It's just it's just. <v Speaker 1>How like, you know, we're gonna have twenty million in <v Speaker 1>the first quarter or something like that. It's like it <v Speaker 1>doesn't matter, like no matter what they have, it's just <v Speaker 1>gonna sell out. <v Speaker 2>Like there's no way to really deal with this, right no, <v Speaker 2>because I. <v Speaker 4>Mean, you know, there's gonna be people who use bots <v Speaker 4>and who buy them all up and then sell them <v Speaker 4>at inflated prices. Like that's just always always how it is. <v Speaker 4>It's this it's like concert ticket sales, like it's yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm trying to think, like the system that was <v Speaker 1>the easiest to get on launch day was the WIU, <v Speaker 1>and so it's like that at different circumstances of just <v Speaker 1>not having a ton of demand. But even in that case, <v Speaker 1>like I didn't pre order the WU and I was <v Speaker 1>like on Latchton'm like, man, I kind of want to <v Speaker 1>go get one, and so on at the last minute, <v Speaker 1>I'm like trying to track one down and I was <v Speaker 1>able to find one of the like the lesser units, <v Speaker 1>the white ones that didn't have a hard drive or <v Speaker 1>whatever it was or internal storage and didn't come with <v Speaker 1>Nintendo Land. <v Speaker 2>So I never played Nintendo Land really. Oh but it's like, <v Speaker 2>so even in that situation, I had to settle for <v Speaker 2>something and had to still struggle to go out there <v Speaker 2>and find it, and that was the WU. Switch too <v Speaker 2>is going to do a little bit better than the WU. <v Speaker 2>So I think that. <v Speaker 1>We're probably going to be in a scenario here where <v Speaker 1>everyone is just looking around for any tips and tricks <v Speaker 1>on how to actually track one down. There will that <v Speaker 1>stuff will be out there, but boy, I think come <v Speaker 1>this holiday, people will still be struggling to find the system. <v Speaker 3>I bet, yeah, I agree. <v Speaker 4>I do remember the switch launch very well because I <v Speaker 4>wanted a switch and my dad and I wanted a <v Speaker 4>Breath of the Wild, and my dad was like, okay, <v Speaker 4>I bought you Breath of the Wild, but I can't <v Speaker 4>get you a switch. <v Speaker 3>Well, you have the game for whatever we managed to switch. <v Speaker 4>Side note though my dad managed to get a switch <v Speaker 4>for himself. <v Speaker 2>Of course. Geeze, that's that's actually even better. That's really funny. <v Speaker 1>Great, I can't get you a Switch because I got <v Speaker 1>me one. <v Speaker 2>Yep, I'm excited. <v Speaker 1>I think we we'll get the details of like what <v Speaker 1>preordering looks like, or probably the beginning parts of the <v Speaker 1>details this week. I think we probably will get like <v Speaker 1>preorders opening up soon after this this direct. Maybe not <v Speaker 1>that day, but within the first week. I think that's <v Speaker 1>what those current rumors are right now, And that sounds right. <v Speaker 1>Do you think Nintendo tries anything special to mitigate the <v Speaker 1>problems caused by scalpers, Like, hey, the first wave is <v Speaker 1>going to be available to people with Nintendo Switch Online <v Speaker 1>accounts things like that. <v Speaker 3>Oh, I could see that. <v Speaker 4>I was also like, you know, obviously it's a licensing thing, <v Speaker 4>but I was entertaining the idea in my head of <v Speaker 4>like what if they had some deal with Universal parks <v Speaker 4>for sure, Nintendo like just like sell them in the shops. <v Speaker 2>In super around the park. Yeah there you go. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, yeah, They're not going to do that, but <v Speaker 4>I I could definitely see it, like being you have <v Speaker 4>to have a Nintendo Switch Online account. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, the Nintendo store did is opening, that's not open <v Speaker 1>yet in San Francisco. <v Speaker 2>It's the second one that I have some I bet. <v Speaker 1>That will be sure, Yes to get it unless you're <v Speaker 1>willing to camp out for days at a time. <v Speaker 3>But totally. <v Speaker 2>All right, Uh, you know, let's take a quick break. <v Speaker 1>We'll come back after this and talk about Final Fantasy <v Speaker 1>nine if anyone wants to. I don't really think anyone <v Speaker 1>will want to, but we'll do. <v Speaker 2>It right after this. All right, let's get back into it. <v Speaker 1>Final Fantasy nine remake rumors are intensifying a mid anniversary hype. <v Speaker 2>This is from Ethan Gotcha at Kutaku. <v Speaker 1>This year marks the twenty fifth anniversary of Final Fantasy nine, <v Speaker 1>and Square Enix has announced some celebration plans for the <v Speaker 1>PS one era RPG. The publisher said it's preparing various projects. <v Speaker 1>That's a quote, including new figures of the main heroes <v Speaker 1>that slightly alter their appearance. It's enough to have longtime <v Speaker 1>fans once again believing that the perennially rumored Final Fantasy <v Speaker 1>nine remake is real. <v Speaker 2>Here's a quote. <v Speaker 1>Zidane and Garnet from Final Fantasy nine are now available <v Speaker 1>in formism, the company announced today, alongside a new soundtrack, <v Speaker 1>vinyl and other merch to commemorate the twenty fifth anniversary. <v Speaker 1>They have been recreated in a three dimensional form with <v Speaker 1>a reinterpretation of the texture of their costumes three dimensional <v Speaker 1>form reinterpretation of the texture of their costume. Is this <v Speaker 1>how both characters might look in the upcoming remake, asks <v Speaker 1>Ethan gott Here. I think I think it's probably something. <v Speaker 1>It's probably pretty close to something, if it's not exactly <v Speaker 1>what this is. And this goes back to the Nvidia <v Speaker 1>Week where we saw a Final Fantasy nine remake in there. <v Speaker 1>Everything else has come true, probably happening this year, right. <v Speaker 4>Oh, it's definitely happening this year. As you say, it's <v Speaker 4>twenty fifth anniversary. They do have a website up in Japan, <v Speaker 4>the twenty fifth Anniversary Project website, which I'm looking at <v Speaker 4>right now, and here's a little description of the project. <v Speaker 4>Released in two thousand, this is the ninth installment of <v Speaker 4>the Final Fantasy series, which has sold. <v Speaker 3>Over eight point nine million copies worldwide. <v Speaker 4>The story unfolds in a world reminiscent of a picture book, <v Speaker 4>depicting a journey to find a place to return to someday. <v Speaker 4>In this work, which was created with the theme of <v Speaker 4>returning to the roots, the thief z Dane and Princess <v Speaker 4>Garnett and Black Mage Bbe each with their own thoughts <v Speaker 4>are drawn an into an epic adventure surrounding the crystals. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 4>I mean this is like we know for sure, Like <v Speaker 4>there's all this new artwork, there's all these new three <v Speaker 4>D model interpretations of the characters. I feel very certain <v Speaker 4>that we are getting a Final Fantasy nine remake this year. <v Speaker 3>Uh maybe, Hm. I'm trying to think timing wise, when <v Speaker 3>I think she's got. <v Speaker 2>To come out, there's an event this week. Yeah, switch <v Speaker 2>to could switch to announcement, switch to launch. <v Speaker 4>And yeah, and Square often you know, you know, things <v Speaker 4>like Octopath, they've Triangle Strategy. I think they've like had <v Speaker 4>a good relationship with releasing things on Switch in the past. <v Speaker 2>Obvious Fantasy so much. But we do know they want <v Speaker 2>to change Fantasy. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. Well, and they you know the obviously like Dragon <v Speaker 3>Quest HD two D, three D one and two remakes <v Speaker 3>they announced. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think that, you know. <v Speaker 1>The thing there is Final Fantasy has continued to be <v Speaker 1>associated with PlayStation and Square. It's just it's just not <v Speaker 1>happy with the way that's gone. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, they're not interested in in that continuing to be <v Speaker 4>like the hill that they die on. So it is <v Speaker 4>very possible that this is something that we could see <v Speaker 4>during the switch to direct. <v Speaker 1>I think that associating Final Fantasy nine remake with it <v Speaker 1>with the switch to would be a good move because <v Speaker 1>I agree because that kind that will build a certain <v Speaker 1>level of excitement, and then that'll spill over to all <v Speaker 1>the other platforms that comes out on like PlayStation gamers. <v Speaker 1>They already many of them love Final Fantasy already, many <v Speaker 1>of them like grew up on Final Fantasy, so they'll <v Speaker 1>be there for that game no matter what, getting it <v Speaker 1>and saying well, yeah, but it's a switch to game, <v Speaker 1>like not maybe not first and foremost, but just think <v Speaker 1>of it that way, and so people who who get <v Speaker 1>a switch to want to get it. I think that <v Speaker 1>will really help Final Fantasy nine remake hit very hard <v Speaker 1>in a way that Sperannix has been looking to have <v Speaker 1>its games due for quite some time. <v Speaker 3>Oh no, I really want all this merch. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it looks looks pretty good. Yeah, Final Fantasy nine. <v Speaker 1>I guess for the very young kids out there that <v Speaker 1>people know Final Fantasy. But this was like a return <v Speaker 1>to the Fantasy elements after seven and eight got a <v Speaker 1>little bit away from that kind of went yeah, did <v Speaker 1>their own thing a little bit, and so it was <v Speaker 1>like a return to form back on the PS one, <v Speaker 1>and I remember thinking like, yeah, that's what they should <v Speaker 1>be doing Final Fantasy. <v Speaker 2>That looks cool. <v Speaker 1>And I've liked what I've played a Final Fantasy nine, <v Speaker 1>but I've not played a ton. <v Speaker 3>Oh it's their favorite. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I have a lot of friends who like it's <v Speaker 4>their absolute favorite. But I mean, it's it's just such <v Speaker 4>a fun I mean so like, the thing that was <v Speaker 4>interesting to me is like, you look at the example <v Speaker 4>of Final Fantasy sixteen, which was very much trying to <v Speaker 4>go back to that more like traditional this is fantasy, <v Speaker 4>and Square does this every once in a while, yes, <v Speaker 4>but Final Fantasy nine was just so successful at it <v Speaker 4>that yeah, it's I I'm very very excited to get <v Speaker 4>a remake of this, and you know that it's and <v Speaker 4>I think too, you know that they will honor the <v Speaker 4>existing sort of more cutesy graphics and just yeah, again <v Speaker 4>like be live in that sort of story but kind <v Speaker 4>of color palette. <v Speaker 3>It was. <v Speaker 4>It was just really really well done. And also, oh <v Speaker 4>my gosh, what was the name of the card game <v Speaker 4>in Final Fantasy nine? Somebody will know it's very fun poker, <v Speaker 4>It's not poker. What would you say, jan No, Triple <v Speaker 4>Triad is Final Fantasy eight. This one was like Tetra <v Speaker 4>some Tetra Masters. Okay, chat, I'm wrong, but it's a <v Speaker 4>good Yeah, it's all the card games within Final Fantasy Slap. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, Tetra Master. Okay, I nailed it. I got it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah they No, they always nail that stuff absolutely, and <v Speaker 1>people be even more receptive to those things these days, <v Speaker 1>I think because those card mini games pop off in <v Speaker 1>a hard way. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, your expectation for the. <v Speaker 1>Level of remake clearly not Final Fantasy seven remake level Final. <v Speaker 2>Fantasy seven remakes level. <v Speaker 3>No. No, no. <v Speaker 4>I mean that they like really truly were remaking from <v Speaker 4>the ground up. And I think that where Final Fantasy <v Speaker 4>nine as a little bit of an advantage is that <v Speaker 4>it was already kind of living in that nostalgia world. <v Speaker 4>Uh so yeah, So to me, it makes complete sense <v Speaker 4>that it's gonna be you know, updated translation, there will <v Speaker 4>be voice acting there, it'll have all new graphics. <v Speaker 3>Uh a new in game engine. <v Speaker 4>But I'm sure it'll I mean, I think that they <v Speaker 4>would be remiss to make it not turn based combat. <v Speaker 4>Uh so yeah, I'm yeah, I'm just like and especially <v Speaker 4>like given the success of Atlas's games, like the you <v Speaker 4>know Persona series metaphor, where we do see that there. <v Speaker 4>They have been very successful continuing to do turn based <v Speaker 4>combat and these Dragon Quest remakes. I think that again, <v Speaker 4>it's like it's going to be upscaled, it's going to <v Speaker 4>be uh fresh translations, voice acting, all this stuff that <v Speaker 4>you've come to expect in a modern video game, but <v Speaker 4>just done really well. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think that's right. <v Speaker 1>I think it's I think I probably point to, uh, <v Speaker 1>the one that I think Michaelways brings up is Persona <v Speaker 1>three reload. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I would point to what happened with the Crisis Core, <v Speaker 1>the PSP game getting remade, where it's like they replaced <v Speaker 1>all the assets and then replace. <v Speaker 4>Yes, exactly, they replaced the assets with the Final Fantasy <v Speaker 4>seven remake assets. They basically took that engine and and <v Speaker 4>put it into Crisis Core. Had some quality of life <v Speaker 4>upgrades in terms of the combat system, but they really <v Speaker 4>didn't remake the game. <v Speaker 2>M exactly right. <v Speaker 1>So, and I think that there's I'm sure there's like <v Speaker 1>quality of life features and stuff actually Final Fantasy nine <v Speaker 1>here because they I think they'll put a more effort <v Speaker 1>into this, but it's going to be somewhere among those games, <v Speaker 1>and that's I think that's going to. <v Speaker 2>Be very welcome to a lot of people. So uh yeah, <v Speaker 2>we'll see. <v Speaker 1>Uh hey, there's no guarantee it's going to be at <v Speaker 1>the switch to event. This thing could show up at <v Speaker 1>a summer game fest. Thing could come out much later <v Speaker 1>this year. We'll see. But you know, yes, twenty fifth <v Speaker 1>anniversary stuff gets announced, all that march is there, and <v Speaker 1>then you hit people with the a trailer in the <v Speaker 1>direct on Wednesday. That sounds pretty good to me. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>all right, Tony Hawk is up is to blame or <v Speaker 1>to credit for three plus fours controversial soundtrack changes. <v Speaker 2>This is from Darren Bonthus at game Spot. <v Speaker 1>Tony Hawk's pro Skater three plus four features a mixed soundtrack, <v Speaker 1>as not every song from the original games has made <v Speaker 1>it into the upcoming remaster. While there are several classics <v Speaker 1>like Motorheads, Ace of Spades which is a must and <v Speaker 1>c K Wise ninety six quite bitter Beans on the playlist, <v Speaker 1>other iconic tracks have been cut and replaced with a <v Speaker 1>selection of curated songs that Tony Hawk says he personally <v Speaker 1>chose for the game. It was my choice to pick <v Speaker 1>some different songs by the same artists feature in Tony <v Speaker 1>Hawk's pro Skater three plus four's original soundtrack. Hawk wrote <v Speaker 1>on Instagram, I'm hoping that discovery is half the fun <v Speaker 1>and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the <v Speaker 1>first place. So listen and enjoy the ride. More to come, <v Speaker 1>both old and new. Some of the new tracks here <v Speaker 1>include Real Thing by Turnstile, end It by New Wage Slavery, <v Speaker 1>and Collared Greens by Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar. This <v Speaker 1>isn't the only emission from the from the remasters, as <v Speaker 1>when it was first announced, it looked like former Jack <v Speaker 1>Gas star Ban Margera had been cut from the roster, <v Speaker 1>although Hawk has since claimed that he demanded the controversial <v Speaker 1>skateboarder be included in the game. <v Speaker 2>Uh. This is coming out July eleventh for PS five, <v Speaker 2>PS four, Xbox Series X and S Xbox one. Switch <v Speaker 2>in PC's. <v Speaker 1>That's pretty cool that I think he still gets to <v Speaker 1>like come in there and have a say. I get <v Speaker 1>people being worried, like, hey, it's not the exact same soundtrack. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, look, that stuff's difficult to pull off. <v Speaker 4>Sometimes, but at least say this is a music licensing <v Speaker 4>issue for sure, without a doubt. <v Speaker 3>You know, you can try to. <v Speaker 4>Spin it any way you want, but music licensing is <v Speaker 4>a true pain in the butt. <v Speaker 3>It's awful. <v Speaker 2>So you know. <v Speaker 4>Again, but as you say, and we've discussed, we discussed this, <v Speaker 4>I think the last time I was on the show <v Speaker 4>when we were talking about, you know, the inclusion of <v Speaker 4>certain skaters who you know, we would not necessarily choose <v Speaker 4>to include. However, it does show Tony Hawk's level of <v Speaker 4>involvement in his own game. <v Speaker 3>It's not like something where he's like, Okay, yeah, remake it. <v Speaker 3>I'll make more money. <v Speaker 4>Like he still is very creatively invested in these projects. <v Speaker 1>Yep, absolutely, And you know, I think that if you <v Speaker 1>get this soundtrack right, even if it's not the original songs, <v Speaker 1>it can still capture the original vibe, which is you know, <v Speaker 1>maybe just it's maybe not as important as if you <v Speaker 1>were to get all the original songs. But I understand <v Speaker 1>the problem there. It's like, if you can get close enough, <v Speaker 1>this will just not be. <v Speaker 2>An issue for me. <v Speaker 1>And some of these songs they're getting he sounds fantastic, <v Speaker 1>but yeah, I also like yeah, Schoolboy Q and Kendrick <v Speaker 1>Lamart though that Cold Green song uh, yeah, very good. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>so I am hopeful that we will get like a <v Speaker 1>soundtrack that just sort of nails what Tony Hawk goes <v Speaker 1>for each time. <v Speaker 2>And like, like he says, helps me discover a. <v Speaker 1>Bunch of new songs as well, because that's definitely what <v Speaker 1>Tony Hawk's every Tony Hawk for me. <v Speaker 4>Absolutely, yeah, I mean yeah, it feels right to include <v Speaker 4>some new artists, or not even new artists, just artists <v Speaker 4>that you may not be aware of that fit the <v Speaker 4>vibe of the game. It's like, I don't know, I <v Speaker 4>feel like Tony Hawk in some ways it was like <v Speaker 4>the original TikTok in terms of discovering new music. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, a little bit, yes, for sure. Yeah, so I'm <v Speaker 1>gonna I'm gonna give him credit for staying so involved, <v Speaker 1>and then I don't I'm not actually gonna blame him <v Speaker 1>for making the chances, got it. I don't really think <v Speaker 1>he was the one out there saying we got to <v Speaker 1>get rid of these songs from the original game. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>if anything, you'd be like, have those and these It's <v Speaker 1>like nah, but yeah, yeah, one plus two had most <v Speaker 1>of the original songs. Sounds like this one's gonna have <v Speaker 1>much fewer of the original songs. It's gonna have some, <v Speaker 1>but I bet they're like for one plus two, let's <v Speaker 1>save some money here and that. <v Speaker 2>I think that's what you were getting at. Yep, all right, <v Speaker 2>a few more things here to talk about. A few <v Speaker 2>more headlines. <v Speaker 1>Mine's I release date, the game from former Grand Theft <v Speaker 1>Auto producer Leslie Benzi's, is now confirmed. This is from <v Speaker 1>Lauren Jack at The Scotsman, which is not Jordan Midler. <v Speaker 1>The release date for mind z II, the upcoming game <v Speaker 1>from former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzi's, has been revealed, <v Speaker 1>alongside a new cinematic story trailer developed by Edinburgh based <v Speaker 1>Build a Rocket Boy. <v Speaker 2>The New which I guess they're shortening to Barb. <v Speaker 1>The new thriller title is said to be one of <v Speaker 1>the biggest games of twenty twenty five, and Benzi's first <v Speaker 1>since the release of Grand Theft Auto five and twenty thirteen. <v Speaker 1>Back in February, it was announced that Barb Where I <v Speaker 1>in a summer launch window for the game. Now it <v Speaker 1>has been confirmed that Mine's I will launch on June tenth, <v Speaker 1>twenty twenty five. The news came alongside a new trailer <v Speaker 1>with the game director Benzi's commenting this this new trailer <v Speaker 1>marks an exciting moment for Mind's Eye as players get <v Speaker 1>another look at the cinematic, cinematic adventure we've worked so <v Speaker 1>passionately to create. You know, the Benz is known for, <v Speaker 1>you know, finishing Grand Theft Auto five. He uh really <v Speaker 1>put the finishing touches to make sure Grand Theft Auto <v Speaker 1>Online would be a functioning thing, especially because apparently the <v Speaker 1>story is the Housers were not interested in Grand Theft <v Speaker 1>Auto Online, and Benzi's had to you know, see that through. <v Speaker 1>And then when that blew up, he apparently didn't get <v Speaker 1>all the credit he's deserved as well as all the money, <v Speaker 1>and that caused the whole thing to blow up there <v Speaker 1>at rock Stars. So he left started build a rocket. <v Speaker 1>Boy hasn't done anything up to this point. And now <v Speaker 1>the game we're looking at in Mind's Eye is you know, <v Speaker 1>it does look like a narrative driven Grand Theft. <v Speaker 3>Auto Like, yeah, that's what I was gonna say. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, where do you think it's placed it fits into <v Speaker 2>video games in twenty twenty five? <v Speaker 4>It's uh, well, I mean we were kind of talking <v Speaker 4>about how, you know, Tomodacci life, you do actually build <v Speaker 4>a story unlike in Animal Crossing, where you just kind <v Speaker 4>of build a town and exists. <v Speaker 3>So I know it's super weird. <v Speaker 4>That I'm like, I feel like this is to GCA, <v Speaker 4>what Tomodachie life, it's to Animal cross I think that's perfect. <v Speaker 1>No, you know, I I you know, the story does <v Speaker 1>look very prominent here. Sure, yeah, it looks like, uh yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's hard to describe. I guess you play as a <v Speaker 1>guy who gets military robots and drones. <v Speaker 2>Honestly, it looks a little bit like Watchdogs. I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I I'm wondering if this comes out and feels just <v Speaker 1>like any other sort of generic crime, open world game <v Speaker 1>compared to Grand Theft Auto, which just has a budget <v Speaker 1>that is so huge and so massive, and it's not, like, <v Speaker 1>to be fair, it's not like Build a Rock a <v Speaker 1>boy's operating on a shoe string budget. They got a <v Speaker 1>ton of money invested in them to make exactly this game, <v Speaker 1>but it's actually a lot of that's going to be <v Speaker 1>just building up a studio in the first place. That's <v Speaker 1>difficult and expensive on its own. You kind of can't <v Speaker 1>just then funnel all that movie into money into making <v Speaker 1>the game. There's a process there that kind of can <v Speaker 1>slow things up. So I'm just wondering, is this really <v Speaker 1>going to feel like a Grand Theft Auto five competitor, <v Speaker 1>let alone a Grand Theft Auto six competitor. But I <v Speaker 1>suppose it can still find its own footing, right, Yeah. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm absolutely And also like I think that, as <v Speaker 4>we discussed earlier, since we don't well, since we know <v Speaker 4>for a fact that GTA is not coming out until <v Speaker 4>next year, I think that there are a certain. <v Speaker 1>Amount no they think GTA might still come out this year. <v Speaker 1>They're saying, we don't know for sure. <v Speaker 2>Really, yeah, they keep saying, they keep saying this year, <v Speaker 2>but we don't have a. <v Speaker 4>Date, all right, Okay, for some reason I thought that anyways, Well, <v Speaker 4>you think. <v Speaker 1>That because it does feel like it should come out <v Speaker 1>next year because they're good at a date and it's <v Speaker 1>like they're going to delay again. <v Speaker 4>This is the thing that I have put in my <v Speaker 4>brain as it's not coming out till next year anyway. <v Speaker 4>But that being said, since we don't have a clear <v Speaker 4>and present release date for gt I think there are <v Speaker 4>a certain number of people who you know, that is <v Speaker 4>a genre that they like, who will check this game out. <v Speaker 2>Yep. <v Speaker 1>And you know, I think they didn't really have a choice. <v Speaker 1>They had to get this game out. Now that's another <v Speaker 1>thing that makes me like worry about it a little bit. <v Speaker 2>It's like, yeah, it's going to be underbaked. <v Speaker 3>Yeah a little Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. <v Speaker 1>I think there's a good chance of that. You know, <v Speaker 1>people are putting their hopes in chat at saying. <v Speaker 2>It could be a sleepy dogs, like yeah, could be <v Speaker 2>sleeping dogs in terms of quality, and that would be exciting. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. <v Speaker 1>It's looking at it's not doing much for me, but <v Speaker 1>uh yeah, you kind of kind of have to play <v Speaker 1>these open world games that are are sandboxy and nature <v Speaker 1>to see. <v Speaker 2>If they can really like is it a just cause? <v Speaker 2>Even yeah, is it as fun as that? I don't know. <v Speaker 2>We'll have to wait and see. All right. <v Speaker 1>Finally, killing children and Enzoy is a bug so fun headline. <v Speaker 1>This is from Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. If there's <v Speaker 1>one thing a game rarely allows you to do, it's <v Speaker 1>commit violence against children, despite how much you might want <v Speaker 1>to send a break off the cliff. This is people <v Speaker 1>making references that I can't possibly understand because it's from <v Speaker 1>a different content. Either way, this game had apparently a <v Speaker 1>bug where you could just like drive cards into children <v Speaker 1>and they would die. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, there it is. <v Speaker 1>There's no, there's just running right into them and the <v Speaker 1>kid goes skidding across the ground. The game got updated <v Speaker 1>to remove this, and then the developer claims it was <v Speaker 1>a bug. Maybe who knows, Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. <v Speaker 1>But I think it does bring up a question like <v Speaker 1>this Enzoy is supposed to be the other the SIMS, <v Speaker 1>and I do like wonder, like what path this game <v Speaker 1>is going to walk down, because it definitely presents itself <v Speaker 1>a little bit as look. <v Speaker 2>We have the sexy characters, okay, six. <v Speaker 1>And it's okay, yeah, no, I get it. That's definitely <v Speaker 1>you definitely should present your game that way because that <v Speaker 1>will get. <v Speaker 2>A different audience than. <v Speaker 3>From the Sims. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, but it's like, like, what else are you willing <v Speaker 2>to do? <v Speaker 1>Apparently not have killable children, which yeah, probably good, Probably <v Speaker 1>a good. <v Speaker 3>I think that's a good call. <v Speaker 2>I think that's a good call. <v Speaker 3>A good call. Yeah, yeah, yikes. <v Speaker 2>Have you tried this at all? Do you know anyone <v Speaker 2>who know? <v Speaker 4>I haven't, As I say, I I only recently rediscovered <v Speaker 4>SIMS and the delightfulness. <v Speaker 3>Uh that is SIMS four. So, yeah, I have not <v Speaker 3>played in ZOI. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think I think I'm gonna try it this week. <v Speaker 2>Maybe we'll see. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's I mean, it's got a lot of it's <v Speaker 1>very popular, a lot of people are playing it, they're <v Speaker 1>interested in it. <v Speaker 2>I think, you know, the reviews have been very lukewarm <v Speaker 2>at best. You know. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's one of those games that, like, in three years, <v Speaker 1>it's going to be unrecognizable, right, they'll just because it's <v Speaker 1>it's selling, it's doing well. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, they'll keep. <v Speaker 1>Updating it and it'll be a completely different games. So <v Speaker 1>it's kind of interesting to see what it looks like now, <v Speaker 1>and then the reviews that are coming out now will <v Speaker 1>be completely irrelevant here in you know, a year to <v Speaker 1>two years later. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>All right, Well, with that in mind, let's move on <v Speaker 1>to the poll question from last week. I believe that <v Speaker 1>we ask people should link talk in the Legend of <v Speaker 1>Zelda movie. <v Speaker 2>The response was a pre split. <v Speaker 1>Here three point three one thousand people voted over on <v Speaker 1>YouTube dot com slash at john Bob under the community <v Speaker 1>tab there where you can go still and vote on <v Speaker 1>this in future polls. The respondents said yes, thirty one percent, <v Speaker 1>thirty one percent want Link to talk in the movie. <v Speaker 1>Thirty three percent more than that do not want them <v Speaker 1>to talk in the movie. And then thirty seven percent <v Speaker 1>said and in an Italian accent like that, Mario, So <v Speaker 1>I suppose actually when you add up the yeses, and <v Speaker 1>like Mario, many more people do want. <v Speaker 2>Them to talk. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. <v Speaker 4>I just thank you giant Bam audience for being who <v Speaker 4>you are. <v Speaker 1>For I'm curious to see how they pull this off. <v Speaker 2>But he's definitely going to talk in that movie. But <v Speaker 2>what do you expect. Do you think they even like <v Speaker 2>make a big They're just gonna let the actor just <v Speaker 2>make a choice. <v Speaker 4>We'll let the actor make a choice. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, yeah. <v Speaker 1>And is that something like what we were talking about earlier. <v Speaker 1>I don't think even like brought up like Link talking. <v Speaker 1>It's just something you were even thinking about it, because <v Speaker 1>I wasn't really worried about it. <v Speaker 2>This was it, Yeah, it wasn't. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I wasn't thinking about it. <v Speaker 4>I remember many many moons ago a some people made <v Speaker 4>an April Fool's Joke live action Legend of Zelda trailer <v Speaker 4>that was sort of like a reverse SoC Arena of <v Speaker 4>time where like Link started as an adult and then <v Speaker 4>traveled into the past and it was it was a <v Speaker 4>cultural like it was. <v Speaker 3>Really well done. I think they did a really nice job. <v Speaker 3>But Link did not talk in the trailer. I'm realizing. <v Speaker 2>So h. <v Speaker 1>I just like watching Jan go through the comments here <v Speaker 1>down voting people who say, only if they get Chris <v Speaker 1>Pratty's so cool, so cool, and soone's like high rule Castle, <v Speaker 1>here we come, there we go. <v Speaker 3>I got amazing. <v Speaker 1>So Jan, someone else there said that they wanted to <v Speaker 1>do it only if he's the only constantly yelling YadA <v Speaker 1>da mean, So yeah, there you go. There there, there's <v Speaker 1>there's the heart and perfect. I voted yes, but only <v Speaker 1>if it's just constant yes and yoda da mean. <v Speaker 4>It's just uh, it's just the Ben Star interpretation of Mario. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, perfect, That's that's what I want. Let's see. Okay, <v Speaker 2>see in the cartoon, he would say excuse me. <v Speaker 3>Princess, excuse me, princess. <v Speaker 1>Let's just set the over under at point five, So <v Speaker 1>it's a yes or no question, yes or no, does <v Speaker 1>say excuse me princess? <v Speaker 3>And the movie yes, he freaking better. I think that's <v Speaker 3>my Yeah, that's my vote is he better? <v Speaker 2>I'm with you. <v Speaker 1>I think he should he better, and I think he <v Speaker 1>we'll get one. <v Speaker 2>It'll be one. It won't be it won't be the <v Speaker 2>very sarcastic correct. <v Speaker 4>Yes, yes, yes, It'll be like he's actually trying to <v Speaker 4>get her attention or you know, steps on our foot or. <v Speaker 1>So you know what I mean, or like he meets <v Speaker 1>her and he doesn't know she's a princess yet, says <v Speaker 1>someone says, princess, what do you. <v Speaker 3>Oh, excuse me, srincess or something like that. <v Speaker 1>It'll be a different tonality completely, but it'll be those words. <v Speaker 3>But it'll be in there. It'll definitely be in there. <v Speaker 2>All right. <v Speaker 1>Uh, we got a new pool question that will pop <v Speaker 1>off here in a second. Before we do that, though, <v Speaker 1>Emma Fife, why don't you tell people where they can <v Speaker 1>find you on the internet? <v Speaker 2>What you have going on? All that good stuff? <v Speaker 3>Okay? <v Speaker 4>Well, what I have going on is our wolves and <v Speaker 4>chat dropped a thing for f F seven sikos, which <v Speaker 4>I am one, and now I'm deep into whatever is <v Speaker 4>going on with ever crisis and this. <v Speaker 3>These rival schools. <v Speaker 4>Mid Guards, Seventh Heaven High and Shinra Private Academy with <v Speaker 4>like young Seph often on Jill running the student council. <v Speaker 2>This is my this is my high.
