Episode 128 - The 500 worlds pt 2 - Titus comes face to face with the destroyer curse.
On today’s cast we continue our coverage into the 500 worlds campaign. We open with the retconning of the destroyer curse withing the Necrons. What it is, and how it is evolving in the lore to add a lot of depth to the Necrons. We then talk about Ammentar himself and how he is flipping some of the script on the destroyer curse. After that we jump into the conflict within the Heliodras system. Starting with Titus taking on the hive fleet attacking Idarus. And then following with having to rush to Novamagnor to deal with the explosion of the Necron threat there. With Titus unknowingly seizing a shard of the nightbringer and handing it over to the wrong person in the ad-mech (as usual), and finally with Titus coming face to face with Ammentar himself.

[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome for the K-Lorecast with me, John Barsodian, Brad Chester. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy. [SPEAKER_00]: Today we're going to be continuing our coverage of the 500-world campaign with a dive a little deeper actually into the destroyer plague and then the first real interracts between the Ultramarines and the emerging Necron threat in the Ultramar District, which, by the way, doesn't go great. [SPEAKER_01]: I also want to throw a quick thank you Darrell at the game room because I got my 500 worlds because one of the guys working for him accidentally put Darrell's copy of 500 worlds out and I snatched it, bought it in last week. [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, hey, man, do you have my copy? [SPEAKER_01]: They wasn't supposed to be out. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, I gave you money for it. [SPEAKER_01]: You're fine. [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, whatever, Brad, can't damn it. [SPEAKER_00]: Bring it back next week. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, all right. [SPEAKER_00]: So 40K Lordcast, weekly showing the lore of the Warhammer 40K universe, releasing every Monday at 7 p.m. Eastern. [SPEAKER_00]: The comments and the follows. [SPEAKER_00]: They're doing amazing things for us guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: We are now the number one ranked podcast. [SPEAKER_00]: That's only because of all of you. [SPEAKER_00]: So massive. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for that because the ego that gives Brad and I is very fun. [SPEAKER_00]: We have a number of links in our show notes. [SPEAKER_00]: We have our YouTube channel for our bi-monthly-ish Q&A. [SPEAKER_00]: We have one coming up once Brad and I finish up some medical stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: We actually both have to get done and then we'll pop it in there. [SPEAKER_00]: We also have a link to our other show, the history of 40K, for those of you who want to know more about what this game was like in a tabletop. [SPEAKER_00]: Come check it out. [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of fun. [SPEAKER_00]: We also, if you want to support us, have links to our merchandise, which are actually being updated by the time of release. [SPEAKER_00]: There'll be some cool new stuff in there. [SPEAKER_00]: And of course, our Patreon. [SPEAKER_00]: Our Patreon's really what's helped us show out more than anything. [SPEAKER_00]: It's allowed us to upgrade equipment, expand out kind of test new waters, be honest, some of them were failures, but we did get to test them. [SPEAKER_00]: But doing some more stuff like that so thank you all for the Patreon and for those who don't know our Patreon is $4.99 a month for that you get this show and the history of $40K ad-free or $4.21 for our one listener in RSC-FA. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I can see you. [SPEAKER_00]: For those who are not aware of our RSC-FA, it's a capital of lens.auth, which is the Canary Islands. [SPEAKER_00]: rising to fame the 17th century the canary islands were used to kind of basting against pirate attacks even though they got attacked by pirates. [SPEAKER_00]: But whatever, it's not important. [SPEAKER_01]: Not even just attacked. [SPEAKER_01]: They got attacked by pirates a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're next to the pirates. [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of the issue. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like they're, well, both an island here to stop the pirate attacks through the pirates are just there. [SPEAKER_00]: They can all see you. [SPEAKER_00]: This will go well for us, I think. [SPEAKER_00]: But cool fun story, the Canary Islands are not named after the bird because it's in Spanish and Canaria is dog. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's actually the dog island, but it comes from Latin because when the Romans got there, there were monk seals all over the place and they named it the dog island because monk seals look a lot like dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: Fun story, so didn't know that one. [SPEAKER_01]: want to talk about a fun story. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about the fact that in the background right now, I can see my trophy sitting on your, yes, the trophy that Brad won and I have possession of because what did Brad do with the trophy that he won? [SPEAKER_00]: I instantly forgot it because I have a tiny brain. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's mine now. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh. [SPEAKER_00]: Two more things about Adityfay. [SPEAKER_00]: First off, they were the first Spanish place to ban bullfighting, which was 1991, which was a lot later than I thought it would be. [SPEAKER_00]: And they do something there that I really like. [SPEAKER_00]: They grow grapes in volcanic soil, which makes a really cool tasting wine. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I haven't had to stop from Canary Islands, but I've had to stop from out atna, and it is delicious. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Last link though is of course our discord it's getting quite large really really large actually Really fun, but the asked John and Brad jannels been popping off recently. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been having some fun in that So thank you guys for the questions. [SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully my answers make semblance of sense when I'm doing it between stuff [SPEAKER_00]: But more importantly, it's become a really good place to interact around lore, questions, etc. [SPEAKER_00]: Really is a great place. [SPEAKER_00]: People who are trying to learn the game for the first time, memes, artwork, painting, etc. [SPEAKER_00]: We actually probably going to expand this thing out a little bit, especially the painting section. [SPEAKER_00]: We had a really nice painting competition a short while back. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we're going to do some more of those, because it just was kind of cool to see people interact. [SPEAKER_00]: But, [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, with all that, let's get into the 500 worlds and in doing so, let's not talk about anything that's really in the 500-world book, let's talk about backstory, the destroyer curse. [SPEAKER_00]: So, it actually is in the book, but the destroyer curse is one of the, I'm taking a guess here. [SPEAKER_00]: My opinion is, I think, GW [SPEAKER_00]: wrote themselves into a corner of the necrons. [SPEAKER_00]: Brad and I were discussing this beforehand. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the problems that they have is forever. [SPEAKER_00]: GW has been stating, if the necrons were to fully awaken, they would smoke show the galaxy like it was nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: They just naïve them ballpark. [SPEAKER_00]: And then they recently made the mistake of saying, oh, all the necrons are awakening. [SPEAKER_01]: So they did two things. [SPEAKER_01]: One. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: they made it so that all the dynasties are pretty much the most backstabius of backstabbers they're all looking for an opportunity for them to jump up and climb the ladder and then you've got this side project or side story project but problem which is the destroyer curse and then some people cough cough I'm into her and I'm into her yes I'm into her [SPEAKER_00]: He's new. [SPEAKER_01]: We can miss pronounced it with reckless abandon, but he really leaned into it and has been forcing the destroyer curse on people. [SPEAKER_01]: The destroyer curse is pretty awesome in the fact that it's just [SPEAKER_01]: kind of what they originally had that background sad, which is just a story of life. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is why I love the destroyer curve. [SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about it real quick. [SPEAKER_00]: So the destroyer curve is something that, and it's almost a red comment, it's not. [SPEAKER_00]: So as the two worlds have begun to awaken from a deep slumbers, you get issues, you know, failed power supplies, planets that cracked in half, and they're lost the void. [SPEAKER_00]: a certain background who woke up 10,000 years ago and kept stealing all the crap out of them before they could wake up. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you have multiple ill-dark craft roads cruising around just hunting for them for a background. [SPEAKER_00]: But one of the weird ones that popped up is this thing called a destroyer curse, which there's a lot of hints that might be older than we think here. [SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing written about that crunch knowing the true origin of it, but the function of it's very clear. [SPEAKER_00]: If you get, if you contract the destroyer curse, you become obsessed with one thing and one thing only. [SPEAKER_00]: The absolute obliteration of all organic life in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: every that it has to die and to quote a very good movie they cannot be reasoned with they do not feel pity or remorse or fear these necrons will not stop until everything is dead. [SPEAKER_00]: But the cool thing about this is it actually is what brought with him to do is kind of a retcon because necrons are one of the older codexes third edition from not mistaken, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they it originally they were just terminators. [SPEAKER_01]: You didn't have [SPEAKER_01]: back then. [SPEAKER_01]: You just had in mortals. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Lord's warriors, mortals, mortals, mortals, mortals. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you just had the HQ's, but that you had, yeah, you had the old veil, you had the veil, the orb, but you just had terminator bodies. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes, slightly bigger terminator bodies and slightly smaller terminator bodies, but they were just looking to eliminate life. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it was, but this was a different era of GW. [SPEAKER_00]: And I like this lot. [SPEAKER_00]: The Necrons were just, they were the Terminator. [SPEAKER_00]: They hated all organic life. [SPEAKER_00]: This is what their lore said. [SPEAKER_00]: They hated all organic life. [SPEAKER_00]: And they were looking to exterminate in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I was recently because of our last cast, replayings of Don of War. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was playing Don of War, Dark Crusade, Nick, actually, and that calls out the Necrons rose up, hitting organic life to snuff it out. [SPEAKER_00]: fourth edition. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is like what the lore was forever. [SPEAKER_00]: And this was, you know, this is kind of the older GW mechanics were a little bit simpler. [SPEAKER_00]: The tyrannids, eaten galaxy, necrons, kill the galaxy, chaos, convert the galaxy to evil, imperium, conquer the galaxy, orcs, fight the galaxy, elder irritate the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: That was basically kind of, yeah, that was basically what they all were. [SPEAKER_00]: But as the game grew, it expanded. [SPEAKER_01]: And they had to flip it because they also got with the development of the Black Library. [SPEAKER_01]: They put out more and more novels. [SPEAKER_01]: They fleshed out more of things and they had to make it deeper and more layered. [SPEAKER_01]: The Necrons were dynasties. [SPEAKER_01]: They actually want to re-calker the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of stuff in some of the books where they wouldn't like to get bodies again. [SPEAKER_01]: Some people don't want to. [SPEAKER_01]: including the storm-loin, is the right way to have everyone to do that. [SPEAKER_01]: This body's awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm a god. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But the thing is, but GW does these scenarios I really like. [SPEAKER_00]: And I can I crap on GW a lot, so I but I also make sure I get them credit where they where it's due. [SPEAKER_00]: They go out of their way to not create cannon conflicts unless they absolutely have to. [SPEAKER_00]: They do not like erasing prior cannon with new cannon. [SPEAKER_00]: They always try to clarify. [SPEAKER_00]: the captain of the second company and they, but unfortunately they're actually already was a captain's second company. [SPEAKER_00]: So once the space marine two got popular, they just, please go away to work articles. [SPEAKER_00]: They just kind of cleaned up the timeline enough. [SPEAKER_00]: It never conflicted with anything before. [SPEAKER_00]: They just cleaned the timeline a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: And then there's the squads. [SPEAKER_00]: So in which case they didn't say, all right, never mind, we can't fix this squads never existed. [SPEAKER_00]: Potence here now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It is what it is. [SPEAKER_00]: But they tried to avoid doing that as much as possible. [SPEAKER_00]: With the necrons, they did a really good idea. [SPEAKER_00]: The idea was, all right, the first necrons that the galaxy encountered were actually this destroyer cult one, and that now the more complex ones have a woken. [SPEAKER_00]: And this way, it covers the early writing by saying, well, yeah, those early ones did just want to snuff out organic life. [SPEAKER_00]: But the ones you're seeing now, they've got a bit more stuff going on. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's cool. [SPEAKER_00]: It's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because of the fact you go with the early ones weren't let as well, because of the fact that you're going to think that 90 some percent of all the backgrounds you're going to encounter. [SPEAKER_01]: are effectively river comings. [SPEAKER_01]: They're soulless on time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was, I was, you know, a thousand, a thousand sons. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a thousand sons without magic. [SPEAKER_01]: Remember when they were putting him in the bodies, it was a contend sitting next to it going, let me have a little bit of that. [SPEAKER_01]: So you got all these, just pus running around. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that are led by, and you originally had the protocols on it. [SPEAKER_01]: So that, you know, the Sonic can't get make everybody do whatever the hell you wanted to do, which was a big deal on that. [SPEAKER_00]: But then that went away. [SPEAKER_00]: And so the thing about Necrons to always remember is Necrons are a rip of ancient Egypt, more than mythology, types of, I'm not saying mythology is not true, ancient Egypt, but kind of what we look at ancient Egypt as from like a boyish charm, like the mummy, where you have lords and overlords, which are the pharaohs, and they would rule like iron fist. [SPEAKER_00]: They were in effect of the gods. [SPEAKER_00]: They were, I was saying they ruled like gods. [SPEAKER_00]: It was more like, [SPEAKER_00]: Stargate, and I know it was going. [SPEAKER_00]: It was randomly, I was with a friend of mine. [SPEAKER_00]: And we somehow were discussing Stargate SG1. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, oh yeah, I remember that show and I went, don't go rewatch it. [SPEAKER_00]: He was really like, I mean, I'm not saying it was bad. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying when you rewatch it, you may not give you the same warm and fuzzies. [SPEAKER_00]: But the issue that you had is that, [SPEAKER_00]: with these destroyer cults. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of them, it's not like the whole complex gets it. [SPEAKER_00]: Only a few pieces within it will now be overrun with this. [SPEAKER_00]: And so, as long as you don't cause a problem that overlord, they actually kind of like these guys, because they're like, oh, cool, I've got this thing, these little neck rounds over here, who just wanted killer gannick life. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're almost like a little mini ever-saurus ass, and just my Diet Coke and Mentos, a shake it and throw it in the battlefield. [SPEAKER_00]: And like, all right, [SPEAKER_00]: deal with it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: But the flip side for the necrons is every now and then though the destroyer curse hits the lord or the overlord who then forces his entire army because remember they are soulless automotons. [SPEAKER_00]: They do not if the overlord says kill all organic life They don't sit there and the thralls don't go, but hey isn't shouldn't we be trying to reconker the galaxy and control chaos? [SPEAKER_00]: They're like, all right, I'll go hit that thing with a stick. [SPEAKER_01]: So why have that some comments are so? [SPEAKER_01]: Greenzing now is because he's force putting the destroyer Chris on other people too. [SPEAKER_01]: People have he hasn't leading. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's pretty crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: It was also cool in the writings a lot of times too. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the writing on this book is actually a pretty cool guitar gets really wild. [SPEAKER_00]: And so what's happened now in the last 15 years of Necron writing is we've created a few like subsets within the Necron. [SPEAKER_00]: So originally they were just kill all organic life and now it's [SPEAKER_01]: now we've got the grayer necrone forces have a woken now we have this necrone all the necrons are are coming up and when I say all the necrons are coming up it's such a big deal because it's full dynasties are now awakened yes that is huge but it makes the writing well because of they're having their civil war it means that the imperium isn't auto losing [SPEAKER_01]: because you have a reason because these dynasties have their own goals in between that it's not just neck runs are coming out. [SPEAKER_01]: It is sauteeck and you know, all the different dynasties are showing up in the each dynasty wants to be the ruler of everything. [SPEAKER_00]: But within those dynasties, this is more interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: This is what I'm referring to now is less in the 500 worlds. [SPEAKER_00]: and more in the infinite in the divine. [SPEAKER_00]: Just so people can kind of wear on pulling this on because some of you may be really the 500-year-old's going, John, where are you pulling any of this from? [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of this is at an infinite in the divine where they talk a lot more about the destroyer curse being this massive fear within the Necron leadership. [SPEAKER_00]: Because they don't know where it's coming from. [SPEAKER_00]: It isn't it they know it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's an infection They know it has no cure They have no way of detecting it till it happens to you and they don't know where the transmission is saying they have no idea with the terrifying so crazy and you effectively lose your sanity to it You even a noble will they lose [SPEAKER_00]: they can't think they just have to kill. [SPEAKER_00]: They should do covered pretty well in the latter part of the 5-inch world where you just become, you lose almost like your tactics. [SPEAKER_00]: It just becomes, I have to go and attack and kill. [SPEAKER_01]: But do be fair. [SPEAKER_01]: Now they're saying that some of the lords retain higher functions now. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a source, one of them for periods of time, but they GW did here is really nice. [SPEAKER_00]: So what we get now in this book is a clarification on the destroyer curse, which also now is called the destroyer cult. [SPEAKER_00]: So the idea is you can kind of join it, although it doesn't sound like you've joined it always by choice, but yeah, and so because it's like this spans multiple dynasties, and they're almost going to internal religion within the backgrounds. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's because now you've got higher functioning, lords and overlords who have now joined the story are called. [SPEAKER_00]: These ones seem to be able to maintain a portion of lucidity with as opposed to the rest of them, you know, what are the flayed ones in the mid-year, who are just like all the flayed ones aren't even destroyer. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but they're just gone. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just a pure killing machine. [SPEAKER_01]: But I actually think that I'm going to give a bread theory. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's part of the destroyer. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that it's not just a flaw. [SPEAKER_01]: in the city is because they want them to have whatever the destroyer part, you need someone with tactics to go kill. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's also, it's just, it's good writing, can't you? [SPEAKER_00]: So, otherwise, you get to snuff them out if they're just like, oh, all they ever do is kill a guy in a glyph, like, okay, so they're stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all right, here's a trap. [SPEAKER_00]: I was easy to do. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll put a bunch of the tear dits over there. [SPEAKER_00]: I just send them into the tear dits, like it's problem got so, like, two birds one stone, whatever, and that may be some of that they'll do, again, but. [SPEAKER_00]: some of the destroyer cult itself because the destroyer cult has a few different types in it. [SPEAKER_00]: So the originals is what we also had tabletop for while the hover platform is that would that's shoot. [SPEAKER_00]: That was what we had. [SPEAKER_01]: That's all we did though. [SPEAKER_01]: They were a long-range firepower and medium-range firepower but we weren't actual close combat threats. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's it, which was weird because this again, this was kind of over the red kinds of the original destroyers, the ones who are obsessed with killing all organic life for long-range shooting, one of which was good blowing up vehicles. [SPEAKER_00]: So then, and I think the ninth edition codex, I'm not mistaken, we got a ton more units. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was not the addition. [SPEAKER_00]: Where we got, oh, and these things were beautiful score picks or fittings. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, now we're getting the melee destroyers, which do look really good, and this makes you want to have a Necron army again, because these things look super awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: These ones really fit more into the destroyer cult. [SPEAKER_00]: concept of, they have these long blades on their hands that they use to kind of slice and dice. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of them, I believe it's their fiddians, actually tunnel through the earth to then pop up behind you and kill. [SPEAKER_00]: These things are designed for just pure melee carnage. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I mentioned earlier that some lords will keep the story or cult inside their army. [SPEAKER_00]: You can imagine how great this would be to have. [SPEAKER_00]: They're having some scorepacks for example. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm feeling good. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a bunch of imperial guardsmen there, cool, just drop the scorepacks over there and let them do their thing. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll pick them up later. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's just like that. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a blender next issue. [SPEAKER_00]: Really cool stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: This is what it was until this book. [SPEAKER_00]: There were members of the Necron society who were, you know, prone to murder. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm unadulterated while they're all prone to murder. [SPEAKER_00]: But just they were obsessed with killing organic life, and they were being used by the Necron overlords to do it. [SPEAKER_00]: One side note are flayed ones though. [SPEAKER_00]: I do want to let people know there's a difference here. [SPEAKER_00]: Flayed ones are not destroyers, but the way it warms hilarious. [SPEAKER_01]: In the worst kind of way, with you have someone that goes, I'm going to sneak into humans. [SPEAKER_01]: What's the best way? [SPEAKER_01]: I'll skin a human and wear him over top of my robot body. [SPEAKER_01]: And no one will be able to detect us. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, flayed ones are not destroyer cult, but they're [SPEAKER_00]: They're kind of historical adjacent yet where you find one you find the other that's kind of the best way to put it so the Flade ones because the Flade ones we know the cause of their infection. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a C-10. [SPEAKER_00]: There was a C-10 named the Flade one when they broke him apart. [SPEAKER_00]: He seemed to have spread out infected a bunch of the necrons that had killed him [SPEAKER_00]: and they became havoc phantoms. [SPEAKER_00]: So much like their historical, they became obsessed with killing organic life. [SPEAKER_00]: But their robot bodies would actually go and try and eat, which they don't have a digestive system. [SPEAKER_00]: They would try and eat organic things, but blood would be all over the place. [SPEAKER_00]: Like their geek gets changed. [SPEAKER_00]: Like they actually hunched over, they sharpen their fingers and these long blades. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just, I mean, they're terminator murders, obviously, but they're supposed to be. [SPEAKER_00]: But what's cool about them is they don't live in the material. [SPEAKER_00]: They live in a pocket dimension, which, by the way, again, the netcrones are really good at creating pocket dimensions. [SPEAKER_00]: So why didn't they just go into one of those to hide in the elder? [SPEAKER_01]: Because they wouldn't have this because they would have showed up and killed everyone instantaneously. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what the flag must do is they live in this pocket dimension that no one knows where it is, but they do and like a demon of corn if they sense enough blood and carnage they'll just pop out of it and come take part in the blood and carnage and kill a bunch of things then go back into it. [SPEAKER_00]: And the Necrons, as we said before, they use cryptics to do math and figure out the future, they'll actually design battle plans, to create the exact type of carnage that they know will attract Flaidwans to then affect these surprise their enemies and have the Flaidwans come in, which is why your Flaidwans should never start on the board. [SPEAKER_00]: They should always come in and share three. [SPEAKER_01]: A Flaidwans have a cool, cool, don't get runny. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a little bit of the game. [SPEAKER_00]: But like now, they use now, these rules suck. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but now you have the minus as a stuff because the whole point is they're doing all this stuff to so fear and confusion and everything else with all the gruesomeness that they do. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, now, the played ones were, played ones in 10th edition are a functional unit that does things for you to score points. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not played ones. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll fireflies already, if they're robot rivers, they'll mean they're crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they used to reroll wounds. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh, they used to cause the cause checks and stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Because of the fact, because they're wearing your dad's head on your shoulder and they're covered in dead things. [SPEAKER_00]: But I just want to make sure that the fade ones are a little bit separate. [SPEAKER_00]: The destroyer cult is unique to this. [SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about Nechrosor Amantar, who we're going to call Amantar going for, because it makes our lives look easier. [SPEAKER_01]: I love everything about the fact that he is a title that no one knows what it is or where it came from. [SPEAKER_00]: But sort of they me they went hard they went ham on this one first off they made an incredible looking model, which is really with really awesome Still ton of narrative about him, but what I like about Amantar is that he shifts the destroyer curse around a little bit So yes, the destroyer curse is obsessed with destruction of all organic life, but The whole idea is that they're normally have no tactical prowess whatsoever. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean like the warrior who's [SPEAKER_00]: affected with this thing. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll just run at you with its thing shooting blindly and then trying to hit you with its, you know, gauze rifle. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just, they're actually, they're not as accurate. [SPEAKER_00]: They're all of the stuff that normally some of them good becomes crap. [SPEAKER_00]: The Lord's and Overshire who fall to them are actually, that they're just going to ram pages. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of all they do. [SPEAKER_00]: So with Amantar, [SPEAKER_00]: he actually shifts this around a little bit and makes it, and actually adds leadership into that. [SPEAKER_00]: So, how? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, first of all, with Amantar, it's his to-breds the thing, his title is Nechrosor. [SPEAKER_00]: Nechrosor is a Nechron title. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a title that only could have been granted by the silent king himself. [SPEAKER_00]: But there's no record of his existence and you are. [SPEAKER_00]: And the silent king is back and doesn't even know who he is either. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's this really weird kind of font thing of where did this guy come from? [SPEAKER_00]: It's possible. [SPEAKER_00]: But there's like there's almost hinting that the destroyer curse may actually have been there from 60, whatever, 65, you know, years and years. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it may actually always been there. [SPEAKER_01]: Real problem. [SPEAKER_01]: four other necrons, the necron leadership that is. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the fact that he also seems to have the ability to force this on other necrons. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, not just as cryptics with him and he would he has he will conquer the key is first will attack a tomb world, conquer the tomb world and then convert that tomb world over to destroyers. [SPEAKER_00]: like mentally to not just like all right you guys you're fighting for me now I've conquered you know he actually is able to change their function whatever you want to call reprogram them into it so he's actually totally terrified for the lords and the overload sent to be terrified of them because he's doing like basically lay on hands you're converted kind of thing [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But that also, if you think about it, it goes to, again, this is John theory, but it does imply, perhaps this is where the destroyer curse really comes from. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this has been going on for, like I said, we have tracens been around just kind of floating around. [SPEAKER_00]: It's possible that this guy's been slowly infiltrating doing all this stuff, because to Brad's point, he commands a legion. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, a destroyer cult members. [SPEAKER_00]: And some of them, he actually even has leaders who have [SPEAKER_00]: You know, command powers etc. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know how many two worlds he spans, but it's a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: He's conquered numerous worlds and turned them into his service. [SPEAKER_00]: He's got these cryptics, he's cannot the constructs, necrons, to everything. [SPEAKER_00]: He has a giant army. [SPEAKER_00]: He has monoliths that he's able to bring along with him. [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it's not ideal to remember what scrubs do you have instantaneous communications? [SPEAKER_01]: So he can do that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the other thing too. [SPEAKER_00]: He's able to spread around like, and isn't taking his travel. [SPEAKER_00]: So he has the ability to reach, not only reach around the galaxy, but also warp around the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, he's, let's talk about why he's, [SPEAKER_01]: a big problem, not just because he's in serious necrone leadership. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, did I mention that he's unbelievably obsessed with the nightbringer? [SPEAKER_01]: He wants to worship him it, but effectively is a God, wants to grab all the shards of the nightbringer and bring him back, which is a, like as far as bad ideas go, that's high up there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is pretty colossally terrible idea. [SPEAKER_00]: We think. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, GW, on occasion by the bulldoze, I'm good writing with a bit of actually, this sounds a lot to be a great idea. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, Antar is Pokemoning his way through the galaxy when it on night bring her shards. [SPEAKER_00]: He's just hunting them down and wherever he finds it, cause he has a natural, [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they speak to him, in fact, they call out to him. [SPEAKER_00]: So he knows where they are and he haunts them down. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I recommend people look at the lower of the 500 worlds, because some of these battles are pretty funny. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love the fact that he has the Imperium has claimed victory and they did win. [SPEAKER_01]: But then, I'm in Taurus no longer there and the Shards not there anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, so did we win or did we lose? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm in Taurus. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm in Taurus Collecting these Nightbringer Shards. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's goal is to bring the Nightbringer back, we think. [SPEAKER_00]: That's also, I say we think, because he's collecting the Shards, but he's never releasing the Nightbringer. [SPEAKER_00]: He's keeping the Nightbringer shackled. [SPEAKER_00]: to the cryptic was when every c10 shard has a cryptic at shackle to it. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't see it in the model. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why like on the tabletop if you're playing a c10 shard, it's not free. [SPEAKER_00]: If it was free, it would attack everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: They tend to not [SPEAKER_00]: Then I think fans in Necrons, so they don't look over and say, hey, the guys who murdered me when I was a whole thing, I can't wait to fight side by side with you. [SPEAKER_00]: They tend to do more of the opposite. [SPEAKER_00]: So even Amantar when he grabs his night bringer shards, he still doesn't release them. [SPEAKER_01]: which is a really cute thing is I do like the fact that they give it here we were talking about it before in life life was story started recording of the fact that he knows that to kill everybody's this monumental task the writing in GW says it's like trying to empty the ocean with a symbol but he feels that if he can get the nightbringer then he could [SPEAKER_01]: But also, this is still a problem because you still got to convince the nightbreakers not just mow down everybody around. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's the whole thing. [SPEAKER_00]: If you were to put all the shards together, I don't think the nightbreakers kind of give a lot of thank yous. [SPEAKER_00]: No, just kidding. [SPEAKER_01]: You mean the guitar that was killing other D10? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, during summer. [SPEAKER_01]: How was it? [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, with all that, let's get to Titus, we'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: Last week, we covered that the campaign to reclaim Ultramar, Titus was given like free the job of free agent problem solver. [SPEAKER_00]: Each of Tetrax was given the task of reclaiming their section of Ultramar, but Titus was given a fleet and a purpose and he was the sword of the campaign to just bring a wall up wherever it was really needed. [SPEAKER_01]: with let's throw it out here he also got some pretty cool stuff and I want to see what they're doing the games and stuff with it talking about the video games and possibly on the board because he's got a bunch of new technology which is pretty cool for the impure because they're so backwards in it yeah because his ship has a bunch of ways to board that you normally didn't ways to engage on that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for now. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, for now. [SPEAKER_00]: You're right. [SPEAKER_00]: The GW, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Then I just go, oh, yeah, that was. [SPEAKER_00]: It's always, it's just a one-offer to just get more of this. [SPEAKER_01]: I just like, they talk about his ship and the fact that it's got a bunch of new tech and ways to board everything. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I was always like, man, whenever they do the thing about GW when GW just ships, it's always like, are you guys going to stay on this or we just kind of drop this one suddenly because you stopped is I like battle fleet gothic a lot and then sometimes they'll just be like, oh, yeah, battle fleet gothic we have ships in this game and then just kind of and that you'll be a little bit of lore that forget about for six years by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: So with the campaign ultramar, road traders went around their marketplaces and one of the places they marked is the system of heliodross and being really high importance and had three heat planets. [SPEAKER_00]: The first is a ferro world. [SPEAKER_00]: It was just humans with a stable atmosphere. [SPEAKER_00]: And the idea was over time, this could be a really good addition for ultramar, good recruits for the forces of both, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: the fence forces as well as ultramarines. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a nice future planet for the war effort. [SPEAKER_00]: The second is the pre-hive world of Nova Magnaur. [SPEAKER_00]: This world actually had been, effectively separated from Ultramar. [SPEAKER_00]: There've been some conflicts there, but they'd actually maintain full loyalty to the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when tie ships showed up, they always paid their tithe. [SPEAKER_00]: They are part of the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: So perfect world for the Ultramarines, the visit, and bringing to the fold of Ultramar. [SPEAKER_00]: But that had to wait, because the third world was an angry world named Idara's when it darris. [SPEAKER_01]: Why is that to wait? [SPEAKER_01]: Because the tear-dens were currently going to anger worlds are delicious. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: There was a tear-dened high-fleet, a tendril on it at that moment in time. [SPEAKER_00]: And so Titus gets the phone call of, hey, there's a tear-dened, high-fleet, tendril here. [SPEAKER_00]: And he did the... Give him a prize. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So the high fleet is at a Darus. [SPEAKER_00]: It's coming in. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the tentals reaching down. [SPEAKER_00]: Titus Waste's zero mid moments on this one. [SPEAKER_00]: He'd want. [SPEAKER_00]: translates into orbit in basically next to the high fleet and just starts opening fire and doing just completely blowing a hole in the side of the main high ship. [SPEAKER_00]: And then a bunch of ultramarines go into said, I've shacks you into the high ship. [SPEAKER_01]: That's it's so hard, God. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, full-boarding torpedoes, then thunderhawks going in after the boring torpedoes made enough space, and then it's filled this thing like a pinjada out with melted bombs and blow it up, which I am assuming was extra gross looking. [SPEAKER_00]: Like just like, so gross, you, but then they're not done, because the tiered is in the surface, they're still pressing the attack. [SPEAKER_00]: And so Titus, you know, Captain Deathwatch over here and get it, Captain? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'd like this to be because of the fact that Titus has a long history with the death watch. [SPEAKER_01]: So he recognizes that there are still coordinated, the high ship got exploded. [SPEAKER_01]: We've done a stuff, but on the surface there's coordinated a tax going on, which means that there are synapse creatures there, or it would not be, and he knows this because of his time with the death watch. [SPEAKER_01]: So he any reacts to it pretty instantaneously, we have to try and start chopping these guys up too. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is, and the other thing to remember here is that this is an angry world. [SPEAKER_00]: So they cannot take the risk of just bombarding it, like they could a lot of other places because if they do, then they have less food for all trimmer. [SPEAKER_00]: So they have to go down there and deal with it. [SPEAKER_00]: And Titus grabs his crew and they go, despite looking at the fact that the brides I mean, or their ship has better scanning, but it's 41st millennia, so the scanning still sucks. [SPEAKER_01]: to tell what he actually did. [SPEAKER_01]: Titus, we're not as boots of mighty ass kicking, grabbed a legion of name and a character. [SPEAKER_01]: He did a star trek and went, everybody that has that is a name character, you're with me, and also you guy, you know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, although there was a he did bring a guy with him, but that's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: So he goes down there and hunts down a tier and did prime and he kills himself, which I really like, by the way, because this is a little side note, Titus, I love Titus, and I do think he's a badass. [SPEAKER_00]: But I really hate in the writing when a single space marine kills like a hive tyrant or a lord of change or a demon prince Because GW in those moments I think they're making the space marine look really good But really what they're doing is they're making the signature piece of other army Just look like a dud and so for people who don't play the game here's an example Titus is 90 points. [SPEAKER_00]: So if in a 2000 point army I can spend 90 of my points on Titus [SPEAKER_00]: A tyrannid prime is 65 points. [SPEAKER_00]: So Titus killing a tyrannid prime in hand to hand combat kind of makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: A carnithx, something that Titus kills in the video game, is also 90 points. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, it makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: They're kind of on even footing. [SPEAKER_00]: A high time is 195. [SPEAKER_00]: You know no flies. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, he flies actually less but it's a different point balance It's a complete for you and I in different time, but I don't like I don't like when something kills something that's two and a half times It's point value because you're like wait, so is it over costed? [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on here? [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't make sense for someone like all that Calgar fight of the swarm lord. [SPEAKER_00]: That's fine because they're actually pointed fairly simply [SPEAKER_00]: game of tennis for the entirety would get put into the sun but that's my point and that's how it should be so I did like just really quick moment he fought a tiered prime which might sound like oh it's a tiered prime that's what he's supposed to fight hand in combat. [SPEAKER_00]: Tyrannin Prime is dead, hive ship is dead, now that Tyrannin's and Eidara start to turn feral, and the cleanup operation begins. [SPEAKER_00]: And they call it, it's a three-day operation. [SPEAKER_00]: They kill every Tyrannin on Eidara's. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is pretty impressive because there's planets in the Imperium that are still trying to, let's see, hell, there's planets in Ultramar that still have Tyrannins on it from the behemoth invasion. [SPEAKER_00]: So, [SPEAKER_00]: Good one, Titus. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they did win. [SPEAKER_01]: They started to clean up, but again, because he was part of the death watch. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a nice, I like the fact that they have him recognize these things. [SPEAKER_00]: And they don't necessarily bring it on exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: He does this great thing. [SPEAKER_00]: He sits there and does the rule the death watch has is when you stop a tiered invasion. [SPEAKER_00]: Remember, the Tyrionids that just consume as they come in. [SPEAKER_00]: So the questions were, where did they come from? [SPEAKER_00]: And the Harley about Tyrionids is you really can't track them live, but you can track them with hindsight. [SPEAKER_00]: So with hindsight, you can look at, okay, they are here at E-dars. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I can look back in time and look for these shadows and no warp to see how that high fleet moved, because it won't necessarily black out communications and everybody will disrupt it a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: and you can track it. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they see it. [SPEAKER_00]: It actually takes it outside of Ultramar I think they're like the bottom right portion of the galaxy out there. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they can mark where it is. [SPEAKER_00]: But Titus notice is something more important. [SPEAKER_00]: The tearned fleets move in straight lines. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything's as the crow flies. [SPEAKER_00]: unless there's another problem. [SPEAKER_00]: And so this as a crow flies should have come right into this system. [SPEAKER_00]: And you've done, yeah, and it went massively around. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it took a left turn at Elbuquerque with bugs. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And when, yeah, we don't want anything to do with this particular planet. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Which the figure that out to yeah, Titus noticed that Nova Magnor is directly in the path and this whole Highly was right around it and because so again, there's only one thing that can mean which is it's a two more because the [SPEAKER_01]: tiered ends historically they've learned and they also insta learn they adapt which they should do better in the game when i can talk about that but they've known we get nothing from fighting the necrons it's almost it's a loose loose for us so there's no difference in form to go there [SPEAKER_00]: And so, Titus sees this and be lines to Nova Magnaur with impeccably action movie timing. [SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say, it's not good timing. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just action movie timing. [SPEAKER_00]: He arrives just in time for everything the road traders said about the planet to be wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the road traders were correct at what it was. [SPEAKER_00]: He gets there and it was strong planetary governor. [SPEAKER_00]: good infrastructure powerful planetary defense force citizen earlier all lined with the Imperium and that's what it was when they get there the planet is effectively coming up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Giant pyramid cigarettes. [SPEAKER_01]: ripping out of the planet's surface. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is the entire planet is in case in an ominous green glow, just because that's what Necrons do when they come out. [SPEAKER_00]: When Necrons phase up by the way, the thing was, remember, they were in the core of the world. [SPEAKER_00]: They're now not in the core of the world. [SPEAKER_00]: There's now a giant void in the core of the world. [SPEAKER_00]: So the core of the world sometimes moves around a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: So Volcanoes, they're effectively pushing technology plates to the left and right, so they can go straight up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so the entire plan is also starting to go through volcanic eruptions. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a complete nightmare plan. [SPEAKER_00]: Cracks on the earth all over the place. [SPEAKER_00]: Atmosphere is turning to ash. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's, it may be honest, it probably wasn't safe at all, but it's gonna be safe at all, [SPEAKER_01]: I know what happened when the dinosaurs died, but let's go into what he shows up though, Titus shows up and he rushes into save the day. [SPEAKER_01]: All this has happened. [SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: And what? [SPEAKER_01]: A couple days before this effectively, the governor had signed up to be a vassalist. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, this was awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Titus shows up and he's like, we got this. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to take control of the situation, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man, go ahead. [SPEAKER_01]: He's doing the packs and from aliens. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you're keeping score, man. [SPEAKER_01]: We just got her out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this governor basically signed the best deal ever. [SPEAKER_00]: He effectively signed an insurance document a day two days before the catastrophe. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so if I join so you guys are offering if I join Ultramar the Ultramarines themselves will provide me protection today I have a need it. [SPEAKER_00]: He's looking at his python. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I won't matter, but sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll sign that fast forward 48 hours And you've got a full neckline invasion going and to his credit the filtering fleet arrives in orbit He's like, I was the I guess this worked out well. [SPEAKER_00]: What I like though is that [SPEAKER_00]: Titus comes in a little bit hard brings his whole fleet in and they're ready to come in and attack. [SPEAKER_00]: If as they do this, a Necron ship just phases in right above the main complex. [SPEAKER_00]: And this Necron ship is failanks sized. [SPEAKER_00]: It is larger than the entire fleet. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was the entire fleet almost the entire fleet. [SPEAKER_01]: It's significantly said it was it dwarfed the largest ship and Titus is sweet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we haven't really gave it props Titus is commanding a monstrosity of a fleet, by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't and we pushed that and this one giant flying croissant just appears and it is a moment of Oh god, well [SPEAKER_00]: this book's going to end quickly. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we're thinking we're only page 11. [SPEAKER_00]: But the ship doesn't engage the fleet and actions had starts to leave. [SPEAKER_00]: And as it leaves Titus notices that it's got its covered in score marks. [SPEAKER_00]: This ship has been under attack and it's not just from that it is heavily damaged. [SPEAKER_00]: But Titus also is a student of the death watch, and he is a member of the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: And he knows something. [SPEAKER_00]: This ship is heavily damaged. [SPEAKER_00]: It is not a threat to him right now, but Necron ships heal. [SPEAKER_00]: And this ship is a massive threat to the Imperium at 100%. [SPEAKER_00]: incredible threat. [SPEAKER_00]: So he has to go do something about it. [SPEAKER_00]: So he then turns and starts chasing this ship that's leaving. [SPEAKER_00]: And they catch up to it, boarding action, blah, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm so disappointed at you because you had an opportunity to say, focus everything on the superstar destroyer. [SPEAKER_00]: which is what they just did it is true yeah they went everything on it and they gave this warship and macro cannon barages all this stuff lands batteries they're hammering it and tightest and guitarists actually enter the ship themselves it a boarding action is fighting their way through and once inside the ship they're noticing the there's just dead backgrounds everywhere like there has been a horrible fight it's not just a couple dead guys around there is [SPEAKER_01]: Piles. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, cannot the constructs are all of us. [SPEAKER_00]: There's like this. [SPEAKER_00]: He knows something has happened here But they still have to deal with it and they're again Random randomly they're tracking or their sensors work. [SPEAKER_00]: It's always hidden missing. [SPEAKER_00]: JW writing [SPEAKER_00]: And they noticed that there's a mass in the center of the ship that's got a bunch of backgrounds in it. [SPEAKER_00]: So they start fighting their way to that. [SPEAKER_00]: And they keep fighting. [SPEAKER_00]: And once they get there, now they get resistance. [SPEAKER_00]: Actual resistance. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a full background force there and including an overlord. [SPEAKER_00]: Who they kill. [SPEAKER_00]: And they kill. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually not that long. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not that protractive of battle. [SPEAKER_00]: It's basically like, yeah, we have Storm Shield screw you guys. [SPEAKER_00]: And then they're all dead. [SPEAKER_00]: But. [SPEAKER_00]: In the middle of it, there's this weird device. [SPEAKER_00]: And while they're planting melted charges all over it, they don't know what this one device is. [SPEAKER_00]: So now, income's add Mac. [SPEAKER_01]: ad-maker kind of the bad guys and all she'd love you writing by the way um yeah because they're always out for the ad-maker and everything they do is so questionable even for themselves you're like that's a bad plan they're like bad guys they get beat by the heroes every week in a TV show you know it's never worked for you you've never won once yeah it'll work this time [SPEAKER_00]: No, that'd be a step up for being honest. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the problem is it's more like star screen. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, oh, I just mean. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so within the retinue is this guy Archmago's white or oct, just oct, his voice, no, not so oct, unknowingly to Titus, even a lot of the mechanics itself, was part of a secret cult back on Mars. [SPEAKER_00]: And this cult was aware of the C-Tan of the Void Dragon on Mars. [SPEAKER_00]: And they believed this C-Tan was in effect the Amnesia, or at least a bridge to the Amnesia. [SPEAKER_01]: but they consider the, the, the, the contans, angels of the side. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and it's usually the, but it's fun about it. [SPEAKER_00]: As they don't know, like he doesn't, they don't know it a lot about this, the contans, but they do know that the void dragon they like and the other contans are pretty powerful too, but the void dragons are one that they actually care more about. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's probably safe to assume with the ad mech that what little now as they had also was totally jacked up. [SPEAKER_00]: Because remember, the void dragon on Mars is locked away behind a door that only the emperor has a key to. [SPEAKER_00]: And of all the people he'd let Hal access the key, the ad mech are might be behind Abadon on that list. [SPEAKER_00]: No, yeah, so he but this guy is a worshiper effectively of the C tanks. [SPEAKER_00]: So obviously, they just found a C tank and so he walks in there and Titus goes, hey, we're going to blow the ship up. [SPEAKER_00]: What's that thing over there? [SPEAKER_00]: And Oct looks at it and says, Oh, that's a weapon. [SPEAKER_00]: And Dyrus goes, OK, cool, blow it up. [SPEAKER_00]: And Oct goes, ah, can't do that. [SPEAKER_01]: We should do that. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be better use later on to defeat the necrons. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, what he says is kind of funny because Titus is on team like I'm not a big fan of artifacts I don't know a lot about it burned me a few times. [SPEAKER_00]: So seriously melt a bomb you get out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah melt a bomb out out airlock and Oct goes if you melt a bomb it it might explode itself And you might blow up the sector so the with Titus goes fine take it with you [SPEAKER_00]: but also bring a melt abom. [SPEAKER_00]: And so Oct is able to then take this thing with him and they blow up the giant necronship. [SPEAKER_00]: Oct, obviously, has every intention of freeing this C10, because that's obviously what he's going to do. [SPEAKER_00]: And he takes it back to the Nova Magner ad mechously there for study, you know, the planet currently under attack by the macrons. [SPEAKER_00]: Could you just float it back to Mars or McRag? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, literally anywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is basically a horror movie thing of like, oh, so we had to split up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we have this thing that bad guys really want. [SPEAKER_00]: Where should we put it? [SPEAKER_00]: Very close to them. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, why don't we just put it on a ship and take it over there? [SPEAKER_00]: No, with the best place to hide it or to work on it, it's right next to the enemy. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a terrible idea. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't see how this could go poorly. [SPEAKER_00]: So... [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, warship handles, spoiler. [SPEAKER_00]: It did with real terribly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, by the way, warship is handled. [SPEAKER_00]: Titus now has to get back to the surface. [SPEAKER_00]: And the next thing he does is he goes down the surface to help with the imperial governor. [SPEAKER_00]: So they have to deploy down and run the main capital and just re-secure it. [SPEAKER_00]: Because first off, this is one of the best defended parts of the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: So it gives you a nice little beach head, thick deploy troops through and start making a piece. [SPEAKER_00]: But also, it's a nice little mental piece of the local troops. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I like this, no, because of the fact that I really do have, again, tightness is such a good character because of the fact that he's with the death watch. [SPEAKER_01]: So he has reasons to have this knowledge that he knows that he do stuff, but also it makes for an exciting battle, which we get, because he kind of has to go into a [SPEAKER_01]: quick battle because you're longer you wait. [SPEAKER_01]: The longer you let while a neck around two more Liz rising, they just get more and more powerful. [SPEAKER_01]: Everything gets back online. [SPEAKER_01]: So you want to hit them before they can get everything back to a hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: So I make a reason why that he's doing this very big. [SPEAKER_00]: push right away because the longer you wait the actual harder it's going to be so he goes in with not the best forces he can go with and but it makes sense because of this well yet because it's not only does he deploy to the surface and pick the biggest toughest fight which is not what you should do he has can normally you'd be like okay they've got this one giant facility that's got a ton of necrons in it and he goes he ever going to attack that why [SPEAKER_00]: establish flanks that kind of look because a problem that runs is not only will that facility wake up more and become a bigger problem, but also if it's part of a larger dynasty that dynasty might establish kind of just phasing phasing warriors. [SPEAKER_00]: So now it's over. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can kill everything else in the planet, but this now one facility has an infinite supply of worries. [SPEAKER_01]: It also, it, it has happened in the recent history with that, where, yeah, whole Dynasty's would just ruin the Marines were winning and all of a sudden they're losing, because, yeah, it's a million million necron warriors show up, you know, like, that's not ideal. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, this is the coolest thing for me in the book, because Titus comes, [SPEAKER_01]: boot strapped in, ready to rock and roll, and they get into this Necron ship. [SPEAKER_00]: And also, no, no, no, no, no, no, this, this is the, this is such a rungel truck. [SPEAKER_00]: No, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, let's call it, let's call it, let's call it out. [SPEAKER_00]: What Brad's about to describe here, or is trying to describe here, is well written. [SPEAKER_00]: It is exciting. [SPEAKER_00]: It is cool. [SPEAKER_00]: And it is a overused trope. [SPEAKER_00]: I have seen more actors in red. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a constant, constant thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like you knew exactly what was happening on word four of what of how this whole thing was going to go down. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what this does read like? [SPEAKER_01]: If you've played Mass Effect 2 when you're getting Legion and you go into this, the ship, [SPEAKER_00]: And which also makes up, you mean also aliens? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I mean, we can keep, there's a ton of these movies. [SPEAKER_00]: That's no, it's been done. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been done of the trillion times anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: There's ton of stuff that God bodies laying about, but not destroyed, just be seemingly deactivated with a faint glow in their eye. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and a couple ultramarines it basically it's obvious that there's been a civil war inside the place that you can see because there are also destroyed Necrons there are destroy can't cannot the constructs it's kind of a bit of a mess. [SPEAKER_00]: I do like the couple ultramarines are like hey These Necrons are still alive. [SPEAKER_00]: Can we just shoot them in the head because that this it seems dangerous and Titus goes no if we kill them then it might wake the rest up [SPEAKER_00]: No, man, like you're literally walking in and leaving them behind, you're surrounded, and we're like, by shows up. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a drop. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, Jesus, or like, like, can we just put like, oh, we don't have to kill them, can we put like a melt above them on them? [SPEAKER_00]: No, we have time for that. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so they continued down the complex and they find them this massive chamber. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is actually, of course, the chamber that giant ship came out of, and their idea was they brought a vortex mine with them, which vortex mines are one of John's favorite things from a different day gone by in Coff's competitive 40. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, damn vortex. [SPEAKER_00]: Vortex mines are great. [SPEAKER_00]: The vortex mines creates a, what gap between reality and non-reality that then collapses back in on itself. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm a big fan. [SPEAKER_01]: It's worse than opening a black hole in the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big fan of the Vortex mine, 11th edition. [SPEAKER_00]: Balls in your court sheet, I'll be bring it back, bring it back. [SPEAKER_01]: They're about to click the on switch on the Vortex bomb, win. [SPEAKER_01]: check all destroyer constructs show up. [SPEAKER_01]: All of them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Locusts are firing from above, scorepacks, hex marks, our fittings come out of nowhere. [SPEAKER_00]: They overwhelm the Ultramarines in an instant. [SPEAKER_00]: And also the pseudo-deactivate Necron warriors start to stand up. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're very, very trapped. [SPEAKER_00]: And then from these are fighting their way out of the chamber. [SPEAKER_00]: So [SPEAKER_00]: while they're doing this, I should have mentioned that they brought some tech pre-swit them to make the vortex mind blow up and the destroyers killed the tech pre-swit, which kind of annoys me a little bit because I get that the tech pre-swit masters of technology and like a star days are also geniuses when it comes to combat. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay with a star days not being able to build a land [SPEAKER_00]: Right, like, doesn't it feel like, doesn't it feel like something on all termoring how a blind angel, like, any, even, you know, no, no offense space wolves, but like even a space wolf should be able to work a vortex mine. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Just feels like the kind of thing they should be good at. [SPEAKER_00]: Push the button. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it has to be uncoded. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I can learn that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not this is maybe freaking tactical genius. [SPEAKER_00]: I can learn that. [SPEAKER_00]: Fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Take a part in reassemble, because they take a, that's right, because they do they take a part in reassemble throwing armor and weapons all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, why couldn't they do it? [SPEAKER_00]: They have to be a tech priest with them. [SPEAKER_00]: This squid, one of the squishiest things possible. [SPEAKER_00]: We're just, oh, we're going to bring this guy with us around the bomb won't go off. [SPEAKER_01]: What the hell? [SPEAKER_01]: I love the fact that they can't get the bomb to go off the in this attack race that they have to retreat and the best part about this for me is Red shirts fall like nobody's business. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the amount of here has someone said your name in this book because of they have it [SPEAKER_00]: you are going down. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because yeah, as they're retreating, Amantara appears and comes in and yet in a breath point there was like multiple like sentences of and then this number of Ultraman's letter rear guard action and all perished followed by this chunk of Ultramarine's letter rear guard action. [SPEAKER_00]: They all had red Paul drones. [SPEAKER_00]: It weren't full red shirts, but I'm assuming they all had a nice red [SPEAKER_01]: It's an ultra-breed plot armor, activate. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no, no, no one's name. [SPEAKER_01]: My name's Guy, damn it. [SPEAKER_00]: And it is kind of objectively hilarious because yeah, they do this. [SPEAKER_00]: So Titus and then they all retreat. [SPEAKER_00]: Leaving the bomb behind by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: They eventually retreat back to the surface and it's like almost aliens style thing. [SPEAKER_00]: They get to the surface and then that's just okay. [SPEAKER_00]: The Necrons go, they got outside. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm done chasing them now, right? [SPEAKER_00]: They can't see them anymore, they're done. [SPEAKER_00]: like they just they got outside. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, like we can go outside too. [SPEAKER_00]: Just throw it out there, but it works. [SPEAKER_00]: Thunder Hawks pick them up and tightest in the crew retreat back to the main HQ to kind of lick their wounds and figure out what they're going to do next. [SPEAKER_00]: Needless to say, tightest is not happy. [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't take losses well, fun being honest. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, but look at me for tight. [SPEAKER_01]: I went back to the ad my facility and he's got a great plan of how he's going to stop all this from happening with the shard of the nightbringer. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And by stoppaw's map, and he couldn't care less, he's wants to open it, because the oct has a little bit of a problem. [SPEAKER_00]: He can't unlock the vault that the C-tans in, because the one thing the neck runs at a good job of was, hey, what if someone stumbles upon this shard of a god? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's make sure they can't open it. [SPEAKER_00]: Fair enough. [SPEAKER_00]: And then he can. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, but we're going to break there. [SPEAKER_00]: The reason we're going to break here is because next week, we're going to conclude a bit more of this. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have Titus trying to get his revenge and tar coming in hard. [SPEAKER_00]: Oct being useless. [SPEAKER_01]: Hot and heavy. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's going to, well, yeah, it's going to come in, it gets a little rough and we're covered the kind of the conclusion of the battle of the 500 worlds and also, I want to spend some time, Brad, and I'm just talking about where we think this lore is going to go. [SPEAKER_00]: There's some interesting hints here about what they can do with this because I think we are both hoping that 11th edition, which we're, you know, a few months away from at this point, is going to get a nice [SPEAKER_00]: jump forward in the lore where we're going to get a bit more out maybe good guy stuff and for lack of a better phrase. [SPEAKER_00]: We need some heroes. [SPEAKER_00]: I need a hero. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just boo. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, so yeah, so next week we'll conclude this and then let's see where we go. [SPEAKER_00]: But till then, John Barsotti, Brad Chester, this guy. [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
