00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. 00:00:04 Speaker 2: Charles Barkley stops by in twenty minutes. It's our two on this Meat Friday. And in case you're wondering what's on the menu, Dylan, you are whipping up a batch of goodies from Fritzy. Pritzy won the Masters Challenge a couple of weeks back. He got to pick the Friday menu. 00:00:23 Speaker 3: Youyow me to run through it? 00:00:26 Speaker 2: Yes, okay? 00:00:27 Speaker 3: Pepperoni pizza bagels, on onion bagels, pork egg rolls, House Special, Frida Rice, which is everything in there the kitchen sink, as they say, meatball palm and chicken palm grinders, and coffee cake Ala mode with Neapolitan ice cream. 00:00:41 Speaker 2: Who has it better than we do? 00:00:43 Speaker 4: Nobody? 00:00:45 Speaker 2: And a lot of this stuff will be whipped up on the Rectech grills. You can win one. You can go to rectech dot com search the Dan Patrick Show for details and then next Friday, on Meat Friday, we'll give one away stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of The Dan Patrick Show. By the way, social media baseball fan said not surprised at this menu it's all unhealthy, fattening foods. Fritzy needs to change his diet and start exercising before it's too late. 00:01:14 Speaker 5: Not on Meat Friday before it's too late. 00:01:16 Speaker 6: It's a bit dureth, but it makes a valid point. That's not the most healthiest choice I. 00:01:22 Speaker 2: Made it, but I like what I like. 00:01:23 Speaker 7: And we're gonna have fun on meat Friday and we're not going to worry about our blood pressure or cholesterol today or triglycerides. 00:01:29 Speaker 4: That's for another day. 00:01:30 Speaker 2: Also, somebody on social media said, very interesting. First, Danette in the return of the Confessional on the show is Jewish. 00:01:37 Speaker 4: That's fun. It's a valid point. 00:01:41 Speaker 3: It's an interesting, unique, trivial person coincidence. 00:01:44 Speaker 2: You were the chosen one the che alrighty age seven to seven three DP show email address DP at Danpatrick dot com, Twitter handle a DP show pull question for well from our one and what are we going to go with an hour two? 00:01:58 Speaker 3: So from our one in flopping in the NBA is soft and bad for the product according to ninety three percent of people. And then what would you rather get caught in less than avalanche or a hurricane? Seventy three percent say avalanche? Okay, for hour two, we got a couple Is this Lakers thunder series going differently? If Luca is playing essentially, are they down oh two still or not? 00:02:22 Speaker 2: I would say that it might be one to one okay, because I think they've done a pretty good job with SGA. It's just you can't let OKC go on a run like they did last night. I think it was a twenty two to four run. They ended up winning, won twenty five to one oh seven, and SGA averaging just fourteen shots in twenty points per game so far. During the regular season, he averaged nineteen shots and thirty one points per game. So they're doing a pretty good job here. He goes to the bench. They have so much depth, they dominate the Lakers bench. Reeves plays well well, Lebron plays well. Now you go back home, you're down two and you're eight and a half point underdogs at home against Okay. See, really, Hutch and More played pretty well. He has streaks where he's a pretty good shooter. What else doing? 00:03:18 Speaker 3: We got another PAULI and I were actually kind of talking about this earlier, the most disgruntled fan bases in sports. We talked a little about the Maple leaves this week. I figured we could all kind of help populate this. I might throw the Knicks in there. 00:03:31 Speaker 2: Wait, but why the Knicks are a miserable fan base. Oh yes, but also disgruntled. Okay, what are they disgruntled about? Hey, they just it's. 00:03:43 Speaker 3: Like they don't even believe in hope, like or it's like it still seems so far away, so close, it's so. 00:03:51 Speaker 2: Far seems like a blanket statement here, I make those Yeah, okay, all right, the Lions. Yeah, boy, the Lions were so close and they just keep slipping further and further away. Yeah, Paul, the. 00:04:05 Speaker 8: Knicks are historically disgruntled, but currently gruntled. They're in good shape, They've got hope, they've got good players under contract, Like the Lions. The past two years, three years felt great. 00:04:17 Speaker 2: Historically disgruntled, Okay, is anybody gruntled? I've never heard somebody gruntled? Is that a real word? I if we've added dis like you can have an advantage or there can be a disadvantage, But I don't know if can you officially be gruntled? 00:04:35 Speaker 5: Yes, Marvin, the Philadelphia Eagles are a disgruntles fan base. They won the Super Bowl, and I think you talked about two guys that you were next to, like, we're not going to be here next year. 00:04:46 Speaker 4: You guys just won the Super Bowl. 00:04:48 Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, Paulie. 00:04:50 Speaker 8: Gruntled is in the dictionary. It's rarely used, but it does mean like in a positive way or a positive feeling about your state of being gruntled, So gruntled would be the apsin. 00:05:01 Speaker 2: But it seems like we've only heard disgruntled. Therefore, when you hear the word, then you think it's a negative, like, hey, why are you so gruntled? Yes, dealing well, gruntled also sounds bad too, yes, yeah? 00:05:16 Speaker 3: Or is it like an inflammable flammable thing where it's confusing. 00:05:22 Speaker 2: I always just say flammable, but. 00:05:24 Speaker 3: I think they don't they mean the same thing. 00:05:27 Speaker 2: I don't know. 00:05:28 Speaker 4: I'm good. 00:05:29 Speaker 3: I just confused myself. 00:05:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't go to class that didn't either. Look at us. Now, that's where we used to make fun of McLevin because McLevin went to an Ivy League school and Paulie and I seized get degrees. Seaton didn't last long at West Virginia. Todd was a really good student, and I don't know about Marvin at Connecticut. You kind of mailed it in didn't you model student? O? Model student? 00:05:56 Speaker 5: Now high school now that was a different animal. 00:05:59 Speaker 2: But we used to make fun of mcleven like, look at what your Ivy League education got you. You're in the same room with us. 00:06:06 Speaker 3: You're riding the bus too. 00:06:07 Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, Paul. 00:06:09 Speaker 8: But remember when McLevin would poke people who went to other big schools with it. Brick Lopez of the Nets and mclen goes, you went to Stanford. 00:06:16 Speaker 6: That was my safety sit. 00:06:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, but we would say to mclevn, Yeah, but you went to Dartmouth. That's not really an Ivy League school. 00:06:24 Speaker 3: I think that's the easiest one to get into it. Probably of the ivys. 00:06:27 Speaker 2: Isn't I thought Brown was that they're well maybe it's just they do pass fail. They don't do grades at Brown. 00:06:35 Speaker 3: I went to the Harvard of the West, so I wouldn't really. 00:06:37 Speaker 2: Totally get you know, everybody says we went to the Harvard of the Midwest. 00:06:42 Speaker 3: Now they said that during our orientation. Everyone started laughing like that's very nice, but that's not true. Miami, Ohio would say they were the Harvard of the Midwest. I've got some friends who went there and it is not Yeah, it's hey, great, it's a great it's a great school, grade school. But every building looks the same brick. Yes, it's a lot of brick, Yes, Todd. 00:07:02 Speaker 9: And it's always hard to get respect with that school because it's Miami. 00:07:04 Speaker 2: OHI. 00:07:06 Speaker 5: Before you get all excited about the king and do the U for me, it's it's the Ohio. 00:07:09 Speaker 2: One, yes, Paul quick quiz. 00:07:11 Speaker 8: I had the acceptance rates from last year with all Ivy League schools. 00:07:16 Speaker 6: There is one school that. 00:07:17 Speaker 8: Is the easiest to get into of a bunch of tough schools. It's nine percent acceptance. 00:07:22 Speaker 2: Three that's the easiest one. 00:07:24 Speaker 8: That's the easiest schools like Yale, Harvard, Princeton. It's closer to four percent. Guess the easiest Ivy League. 00:07:32 Speaker 2: School Yes, Marvin you Penn. 00:07:36 Speaker 6: Nope, not in the top three. 00:07:37 Speaker 2: I'm gonna say Brown. 00:07:39 Speaker 8: Brown is third easiest. Cornell, ding ing Ning Cornell nine percent, Dartmouth eight percent, Okay. 00:07:50 Speaker 3: Dartmouth, basically Cornell. That's embarrassing, just like everybody here, all right, So Charles bark will join us coming up. The Sixers Knicks. That's tonight, and the Knicks are one and a half point underdogs. There and you also have the Spurs going to Minnesota, and the Spurs are four and a half point favorites there. Looking ahead to Saturday, the Thunder in LA eight and a half point favorites, the Pistons will be four and a half point underdogs against the Cavaliers. Spent a lot of time in the first hour we did talk about James Harden. You know, if the Calves thought that this was going to be the difference for them, they made a well we said it at the time, like what is it you're seeing with James Harden that you're gearing up I'm guessing for the postseason? Like that's why you're going to bring him in Celtics. And I don't know. 00:08:46 Speaker 2: If this was the case, but the Celtics we thought maybe it's a gap year with Jason Tatum being injured, and you might have looked at this and said, we can get this, we can steal the East. Let's get James Harden. 00:08:59 Speaker 5: Yes, Marvin, if the Cavaliers brought in someone like Jimmy Butler with his playoff resume, that'd be a different story, like, all right, we're about to make a rear one. But nothing about James Harden. Screams now we're a championship contender. 00:09:11 Speaker 2: Or Kawhi. If you got Kawhi, then you know I could go. Okay, He's there's a large sample size here. It's just with James Harden. There's nothing that you go that's the guy you want, Yes, Dylan. 00:09:24 Speaker 3: I have a James Harden stat Dan okay from last night? 00:09:27 Speaker 2: All right? 00:09:28 Speaker 3: He finished three of thirteen from the field with four turnovers, his twelfth career playoff game with three field gold made or less on ten plus attempts and four plus turnovers. No other player has more than five such games in the last forty years. 00:09:43 Speaker 10: Statup the Day, statup to Day, stat of the Day. 00:09:48 Speaker 1: STATU the Day, scatut today, statup Day. 00:09:52 Speaker 2: It's not a stat you wantta brought to you by Pandy America, the official trading cards of the program Turbo in Buffer he is back, Hi, Turbo. 00:10:02 Speaker 11: Oh, how are you? 00:10:03 Speaker 9: Dan? 00:10:04 Speaker 2: Great? 00:10:05 Speaker 11: Right? 00:10:06 Speaker 12: And I just want a couple Uh. I have some abstract thoughts here. So, first of all, Dylan was right about in flamble and flamble there that is the same word. Dylan's right about that. 00:10:18 Speaker 9: Uh. 00:10:19 Speaker 12: The James Harden thing, I think he's a great basketball player. I think like like half his mind is on the ladies and half his mind is on basketball, and like he never over his career, you know, focus on more of the basketball than the Well, we don't. 00:10:35 Speaker 2: We don't know that. I know he's got a reputation. I mean, I want to be fair to him. You can poke fun, you know with strip clubs, but Harden had a run of five year run that just about anybody in the history of the sport would take. It's just, you know, he's a larger. He doesn't look in shape, and I felt that when he came over from Cleveland even started the year. And sometimes you're like, I can get my shot anytime I want to, And it used to be that was the case, but seems like he labors a little bit more of just trying to get the ball over the ten second line. Paul and Raleigh, Hey Paul, what's on your mind? Hey Dan, thank you for taking my call? Yeah, a third time, long time. 00:11:27 Speaker 7: I just had a quick question. Do you guys kind of threw me off of your last conversation? They're most disgruntled As a lifelong Bengals fan, that would be and also the Buffalo Bills yeah, let's say for football just gruntles. 00:11:42 Speaker 2: I did have a question for. 00:11:44 Speaker 7: Y'all, and by the way, happy to meet Friday. 00:11:46 Speaker 4: Fritzi. 00:11:46 Speaker 7: That was a crazy menu. 00:11:51 Speaker 4: I have a question. 00:11:53 Speaker 7: I was wondering what the opening bit is for the plexiglass between Fritzy and Seaton. 00:12:00 Speaker 2: I guess that's available. 00:12:01 Speaker 7: I am working with my house divided here, so we're possibly getting that. 00:12:07 Speaker 2: Well, you know what, I'll take that under consideration, Paul, and I'll see if we auction items off from the man cave at some point. Then the plexa glass that was there between mc lovin, Seaton and Fritzy. 00:12:19 Speaker 3: Yes, Dylan has wild to be like all of the stuff that's in here, I want the piece of plexiglass that was between the two desks. 00:12:26 Speaker 2: Buddha and San Francisco. 00:12:27 Speaker 13: Hi Buddha, no body, happy meet Friday. Boys, Let's go Fritzy DP. Listening to all the who's career you would take yesterday, admit me wonder whose career you're taking Man Darry Springer, Mari Povich or doctor Phil. 00:12:55 Speaker 2: None of the above. 00:12:58 Speaker 13: But then I'm loyal to the soil, as Bargin says. But watching the Lakers, you know, I've said this before, the past few years. 00:13:05 Speaker 11: Has been rough. 00:13:06 Speaker 13: I mean, they got all the drama of Showtime and none of the fast breaks. Man, it's been brutal. But the NBA is almost getting like soccer flopping bad. Like you guys said, I mean, when when you watch the soccer players, they fall down on the pisce and then they get hit by a sniper and then they roll around thriving the pain they get miraculously healed by the curing magic spray and it's hard to watch. And seeing this grow in the NBA is just exhausting, and it makes me feel like this whole flopping generation is soft. 00:13:34 Speaker 2: Thank you Buddha. We'll get some more phone calls coming up. H eight seven seven to three DP show. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading DAMP. That's our streaming partner. We also are on the NBC Sports Network. I was just talking to the big German and we're planning to go to Tahoe. We'll be out there for the celebrity golf tournament, which Charles always plays in. And then the big German goes, hey, what do you think about going to Australia for the football game the Rams and the Niners in Australia. I said, well, okay, let's do the math here. We would start our show at midnight local time and go to three in the morning each day, or we could tape our show and then we could run it at its regularly scheduled time. I said, well you have to go for a week and he said okay. He said, so you're saying there's a possibility. I said, well, I'm open to it, but I don't know, like, sure, give it a shot here, explore it. So are you guys interested in maybe going to Australia for the first week of the NFL regular. 00:15:46 Speaker 6: Shown entire week. 00:15:47 Speaker 2: Yep, Well it's going to take a day to get there. 00:15:52 Speaker 3: It's the lengthy flight. 00:15:54 Speaker 2: Well you go New York to New Zealand and then New Zealand to Australia to Sydney. 00:15:59 Speaker 6: Yes, I got it at twenty one and a half hours. 00:16:02 Speaker 2: Yes. Yes, we don't have to decide today. I'm just throwing it out there. Yes doing. 00:16:11 Speaker 3: I think we should absolutely do that. That's pretty cool. Okay, my cousin's live there too. We can see them. 00:16:17 Speaker 2: Oh great, and I we'll do it. I mean, yeah, we'll have them as a guest. Yes, Tom, that's not how I would do. 00:16:22 Speaker 5: I'd go Florida in Saudi Arabia Minnesota then start. 00:16:28 Speaker 2: It would take Todd two days to get there most of the week. I got stuck in Dubai. Yeah, why am I in Morocco? Just a layover here, So let's let me know when Charles uh. 00:16:39 Speaker 6: Is in the process. 00:16:40 Speaker 2: It'll be a minute he's checking in. Okay, yes, doing. 00:16:43 Speaker 3: Where do you land on going to Australia? 00:16:46 Speaker 2: Dan, I'm open to doing anything everything in these final two years. I'm not ruling anything out. I mentioned maybe the Ryder Cup in Ireland would be fun. Well, once again, you got to get content there, you gotta have guests. You know, has to be a good location, all of those things. But that I'm open to Australia. 00:17:08 Speaker 3: Let's send it. 00:17:09 Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna wait here just a little bit. There's budgets and you know, then we got to rent TV equipment. Where are we doing the show from? 00:17:21 Speaker 3: But Dan, picture this, you and I snorkeling around the Great Barrier Reef together. 00:17:26 Speaker 2: I don't snorkel scuba dive. I don't scoop. I scuba dived one time. I got to the bottom of the ocean and I panicked because I couldn't get the breathing down. I kept opening my mouth. That's not advisable, and then I just started to go. I didn't want to get the bends. But I'm down there and I'm like, what am I? Damn, there's sharks going by, like there's fish. I don't even know what that is. 00:17:52 Speaker 3: Yeah, you're running out of air real quick. 00:17:54 Speaker 8: Yes, yeah, But snorkeling is like the JV version of scuba diving. You're up top, you can get back to the boat really quick. 00:18:01 Speaker 6: It's not that scary. 00:18:02 Speaker 9: Yeah. 00:18:02 Speaker 2: I don't like snorklin Yeah, yes. 00:18:05 Speaker 3: I actually think if sharks, if you're afraid of sharks, snorkeling is actually scarier to me because I don't like being on top. I'd rather be down, like at sea level, sea floor level with the sharks then sitting up above. 00:18:17 Speaker 2: That's good to know. Thank you, Thank you. Charles Barkley, Hall of Famer, ESPN inside the NBA studio analyst. Are you do you a snorkel? Have you done anything like that? 00:18:31 Speaker 11: Sir? 00:18:31 Speaker 10: Oh, that's not a black that's not a blacktivity is not a blactivity. 00:18:38 Speaker 4: Don't they have sharks and stuff in the ocean? 00:18:40 Speaker 10: Dam Yes, yeah no, Now unless a shark come up on land, that's never gonna happen to me. 00:18:46 Speaker 4: That's not that's not a blacktivity. 00:18:48 Speaker 2: Could you imagine a shark looking and seeing Shack if he was snorkling, they'd. 00:18:55 Speaker 10: Be saying, boy, that's some dark meat, right, Hey, this is hey. You know, to think about it, then the shark would be good for like two or three months. 00:19:06 Speaker 4: You know, the shark could just the shark could just take. 00:19:09 Speaker 15: Like a no eating vacation because Shack is no damn big. 00:19:14 Speaker 7: I was. 00:19:15 Speaker 2: We were talking about this this morning about flopping and I don't know was flopping. I don't know how prevalent it was when you played, but it feels like it is a topic of conversation, certainly with OKC, and it almost feels like it diminishes their success. Let's go back when you played. How often did flopping happen all the time? 00:19:38 Speaker 10: You know, it's really interesting watching television today, people act like tanking and flopping or something new. Teams have always tanked, they gotta do something about it. But teams have always tanked and guys have always flopped. 00:19:52 Speaker 4: I mean, you go back to. 00:19:54 Speaker 10: You have to look, gods are screaming halfway through their shot or they're flitting their own out. So there's always been that. Listen, I will admit I've never seen anything like that last night. Well, an entire team go around the reefs. I'd never seen that in my I'm close to fifty years now, I'd never seen that in my life, where a whole team go around referees after the game. 00:20:20 Speaker 4: That was pretty interesting. 00:20:21 Speaker 2: Okay, But what message can you give to the officials in a situation like that that the Lakers found themselves in. 00:20:29 Speaker 10: I don't think that can help them in any capacity, because now the referees are going to be like, well, if we start calling files for the Lakers, they're gonna think that tactic work. So I didn't see any positives about that, to be honest with you, like I said, because you know, you know after lease and reffs are always live at I don't read the newspaper, I don't watch television. 00:20:52 Speaker 4: Stop lying, yes you do, And the. 00:20:55 Speaker 10: Refs are going to be like, now, if we come out and give the Lakers all these calls, the media is gonna be saying the little hijack thing worked. So I don't see anything positive out of it, to be honest with you. 00:21:08 Speaker 2: And JJ Reddick said that Lebron he gets filed more than anybody. I think in the history of the game, which isn't true because Shaq got fouled probably more than anybody because you you could ever tell if you were hurting Shack, whereas Lebron's a big guy, but he also is pretty theatrical as well. Is Lebron being refereed fairly man? 00:21:32 Speaker 4: First of all, all great players a couple of things. 00:21:35 Speaker 10: All great players make contact with the defense first, so then they're all there's always contact. 00:21:41 Speaker 4: I always trying. 00:21:42 Speaker 10: To hit the guy what's playing against just to knock him out of ballance so I could get my shot off. So we all overreacted. There all, there's always contact. I actually think the refs are kind of swallowed the whistle to these playoffs. I've seen more contact on guys then I saw the entire regular season. I bet if you did a survey, I bet free throw shooting is down. I mean, I haven't looked at all, but I bet if you go back and look at the first round and the first couple of games of the of these, I bet free throw shooting is down. Because when me and Kenny were in there the other day, we screaming. 00:22:21 Speaker 4: That's the file. That's a file. That's a file. And the refant called the file. 00:22:24 Speaker 10: But I guarantee you if you went and looked at the numbers, I bet free throw shooting is down. 00:22:30 Speaker 4: The number of guys have taken. 00:22:33 Speaker 10: And I was watching listening to your show earlier today when I was driving around. I think I heard somebody say that somebody shot. I think Austin Reid shot more free throws than Shay Gildgrish. So, but I heard you talking about it earlier. So man, no, the Lakers are down two. That the Oklahoma city is just better than them, has nothing to do with the officiating. 00:22:59 Speaker 2: Which the first flopper in the NBA. 00:23:04 Speaker 4: I can't answer that question because I don't know. 00:23:07 Speaker 2: Uh. 00:23:07 Speaker 10: And dude, there's always been floppers. I mean there's always uh. So I listen, I told you there's always been floppers. I'm not sure who the first was. You know, guys throw their arms and scream every time somebody touched them. 00:23:22 Speaker 4: Now and listen, I. 00:23:24 Speaker 10: Think there's an automatic thing now, Dan, every time a guy gets fouled, they just normally started toiling their fingers to the referee, to. 00:23:33 Speaker 4: The coach number review that. 00:23:35 Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, it's become like an automatic thing. 00:23:39 Speaker 2: But I just I would have given Homegrown a technical after they reversed it for him flopping and selling it that way. 00:23:47 Speaker 15: I you know, first of all, I like replay, but the problem with replay is there's so much stuff that happened. 00:23:59 Speaker 4: This. Yeah, you can only re review a certain thing. 00:24:04 Speaker 10: So even though I think review is a positive, I think it can be a negative because they're like, well, did go off this guy? But he got hammered and you can't look at that. You just got to look who touched it ball less. So it's pros and cons to be honest it with you Dan. 00:24:22 Speaker 2: To that, Yes, Charles Barkley, Hall of Famer, inside the NBA studio analyst, you and Draymond going at it were you were being honest to Draymond that it's over in Golden State, and then he made it personal where he took a shot at you when you were chasing a ring in Houston. How did it go when you go to commercial break after something like that or the rest of the night, how's it go? 00:24:52 Speaker 4: Well? 00:24:52 Speaker 10: Number one, I don't ever take anything. You can never take personal shots of guys. You know, I've said that in my twenty six ye my critiques of every player of coach is only about the situation. He took a shot of me, But I don't get offended because other guys. I've said things about guys and they took personal shots at me. 00:25:15 Speaker 4: You know, it's so funny. Last time you had me on the show, I told you. 00:25:19 Speaker 10: I regretted those Rocket years, especially the last two which I sucked as a player. 00:25:25 Speaker 4: But I wouldn't turn down no free money. I had two years. I had two years left on my contract. 00:25:30 Speaker 2: And you can say it, though, Charles, that my issue with Draymond, if he wants to do this, you know, be in TV, is get a sense of humor. He takes everything personally. You were just saying, look, it's over with the Warriors, and now he can't say it. But you were just saying it's over. And then he made it personal with you instead of. 00:25:53 Speaker 10: And yeah, he made it personally as a man. It's so funny. There's a couple of things I've been relevant for three or four years. Uh, they've been in the play in so so when you're in the play in, you're not in the playoffs. You're in the play that's something Adam sif that's something Adam Silver, who I love Adam Silver. 00:26:13 Speaker 4: I love Adam Silver, but. 00:26:15 Speaker 10: The playing is something they just made up to have more games to put. 00:26:18 Speaker 4: On a different network. And when you're in the play in the rockets. 00:26:22 Speaker 10: Been excuse me that the word has been in the play in I think four straight years, so they've been irrelevant. 00:26:29 Speaker 4: And I know he don't want to say it, but and listen, you know everybody getting mad when I said this. Old people don't get healthy. 00:26:37 Speaker 10: Old people die, Okay, they don't get healthy. They noticing that him and stuff gonna get better when they get healthy, and being a year older, they're not. 00:26:46 Speaker 4: They're not. They just don't get older. Dan uh, So it's over for Golden State. 00:26:52 Speaker 10: They had a great run and he should like he took a person shot at me, but I'm not sensitive. 00:26:58 Speaker 4: But yeah, it's been. 00:26:59 Speaker 10: Open Golden State. I mean, if gold Stand was relevant, he wouldn't be. 00:27:04 Speaker 11: In the studio. 00:27:08 Speaker 2: What's the first thing that goes as you get older as a as a player. 00:27:15 Speaker 10: Your body don't move like you can see a ball, but you can't. 00:27:20 Speaker 4: Move to go get it. 00:27:24 Speaker 10: Like you like like in the beginning you're like, oh there's the ball, let me just jump up and get it. When you get older, you're like, I see that ball, but I can't move. It's like a delayed reaction. And secondly you can see it with Steff. You get hurt, You get hurt, You get hurt a lot. I tell people, from twenty five to thirty two, you at the peak of your superpowers. 00:27:53 Speaker 4: Then thirty two thirty four you. 00:27:55 Speaker 10: Can squeeze another couple of good years out of it. 00:27:59 Speaker 4: It's a little bit different now because two things. 00:28:01 Speaker 10: Number one, they don't go to college and there's no physicality, So you can play like an extra three or four years at a good level. 00:28:09 Speaker 4: You're not the same, but you can play at a good level because. 00:28:13 Speaker 10: These guys never went to college and there's no physicality in the game. I mean, you know, you talk about guys like in the old days, they went to college for four years, like Tim Duncan, the Greatest Power for whatever. 00:28:25 Speaker 4: He went to college for. 00:28:26 Speaker 10: Four years to still played sixteen seventeen years and the game was way more physical. So guys can play longer now, and that's an advantage for them. 00:28:39 Speaker 2: I asked Reggie Miller earlier this week whose career he would rather have, Draymonds or Carmelo. 00:28:50 Speaker 10: Carmelo was a much better player than Draymond. That's not a shade at him. Draymond is he's a good player. Carmelo was a great player. This is a man we all want to win. 00:29:01 Speaker 2: But the reason why I said that is because Reggie never won and he's a Hall of Famer. So he said he would take Draymond's career because he won championships. He won four championships. 00:29:12 Speaker 10: There's no way, no no disrespect, There's no way I would take Draymond's career over Reggie Miller's. 00:29:17 Speaker 4: No way. 00:29:18 Speaker 10: And listen, Reggie can have his own opinion. Reggie Miller has had more historic moments in NBA history. I mean, you go back and look at Reggie. 00:29:30 Speaker 2: I was talking about Melo Carmelo. 00:29:33 Speaker 4: Oh, Carmelo Anthony number one. 00:29:35 Speaker 10: He won a championship as the freshman in college, which is incredible, and he's I said, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, and James Harden are probably that not. 00:29:46 Speaker 4: Michael and Kobe. They on a whole another level. 00:29:48 Speaker 10: Okay, as for a scoring, but Kevin Durant, Carmelo and James Harden are the three best scores I've seen in the last thirty years. If you need a basket and you can give it to one of those guys, they gonna get you a shot or they're gonna score every time. Uh. In my opinion, But listen, man, hey, I wouldn't trade my career for Draymonds. I'm pretty sure Karl Malane wouldn't. I'm pretty sure Patrick Ewing wouldn't. Uh. But Draymonds had really a terrific career. But to think he's on the same level with us as players, you'd have to be crazy to think that. 00:30:27 Speaker 2: Is there a comp for Jalen Brunson, somebody that he reminds you of, who maybe played a different era. I find him fascinating to watch, you know. 00:30:41 Speaker 10: I think what's fascinating about him nobody knew he was just good. Like when he was in Dallas. You're like, he's a solid backup. And I've said this and got some heat because I'm not talking about Lebron or somebody like that, But Jaylen he has probably been one of the all time great free agent signings. I mean, the Knicks have been irrelevant since he got there. You know, they were irrelevant for since Patrick Ewen left, probably twenty years. I think Jalen Bronson signing with the Knicks is one of the great free agent signings of all time. I mean what he I mean, he makes the Knicks relevant. I mean they were in the conference finals last year. I mean, and it's not like they have a great team either. I mean so, but no, I think that's a great question though about a comp But I just want to say that I think he's been one of the great free agent signings in NBA history in my opinion. 00:31:47 Speaker 2: Yeah, because he's not big, you know, he. 00:31:50 Speaker 10: Just gets it done. And let me tell you something. You know, people talk about Shay, who's amazing. If you go back and look in the last couple of years, there's nobody who's been a better closer than Jalen Bronson in the NBA. 00:32:05 Speaker 4: He been flat and fled out, fascinating to. 00:32:08 Speaker 2: Watch, which brings us to James Harden. I don't know what Cleveland thought when they traded to get him, like he was going to be a difference maker in the postseason. There's no track record there. Then he looks old. 00:32:22 Speaker 4: Then I'll be the first to admit it. I was one hundred. 00:32:26 Speaker 2: Wrong, Okay, us. 00:32:29 Speaker 10: Right now, I thought when the Cavaliers got James Harden. I thought it made them the favorite in the East. I picked them to win the East. I am I'm not gonna lie. I am in shock. And you know when I showed that stat the other night, I saw it, I saw it on I saw it somewhere, I can't remember where. Because he's had twenty nine games, we've had more turnovers than field goals made in a game as a great player. That's one of the most shocking stats I've ever scene on a guy who's gonna be a first ballot Hall of Famer. 00:33:04 Speaker 4: I mean twenty nine times. 00:33:07 Speaker 10: Then he's had more turnover than field goals in a playoff game. 00:33:12 Speaker 4: That's impossible. I mean, like, I'm like, WHOA. 00:33:16 Speaker 10: You can have a bad turnover game, you can have two, maybe three, but you should, like you gotta have more more field goals. 00:33:24 Speaker 4: But to have it. 00:33:25 Speaker 10: Twenty nine times. And I'm not gonna lie, I was one hundred percent wrong. 00:33:29 Speaker 4: I picked. 00:33:29 Speaker 10: I loved I loved the trade for James Harden's I thought number one it would take. It would free up Donovan Mitchell just to score, because that's what he wants to do, just score. 00:33:40 Speaker 4: He don't want to pass the ball. 00:33:41 Speaker 10: But I thought it would unlock Mobley and Jared Allen and then James, And I thought James would have a flashback where you get your thirty points one game in the playoffs. But he's gonna help Mobley and Jared Allen and Donavan can just do what he wants to do with the score. But it looks like I am one hundred percent wrong on that. In that situation, I picked the cave to get to the finals. And I'm James, I'm not gonna lie. I'm in shock how bad he's playing. 00:34:11 Speaker 2: You're going to Tahoe again this year? 00:34:14 Speaker 10: Dan, Of course, I'm going to Tahoe. Are you gonna be be the coward that you are? Won't you come out there? 00:34:20 Speaker 1: Dan? 00:34:21 Speaker 4: It's the best week of the year. Wait, listen, I am. 00:34:24 Speaker 2: I am going out there. I'm doing the show again out there. 00:34:27 Speaker 4: Are you gonna play at the tournament? 00:34:28 Speaker 2: I gotta work, Dan. 00:34:31 Speaker 4: Well, you don't work on the damn weekend. 00:34:35 Speaker 2: Dan, I know, but I worked during the week. 00:34:40 Speaker 4: We don't. We don't play the friday. 00:34:42 Speaker 2: I'm entertaining a nation. It takes a lot out of me. 00:34:46 Speaker 10: Well, you know what takes a lot out of you? Dan, Them two fooders. You kept slapping by the hole, that's how. But you know when I play at home, these are good. 00:34:57 Speaker 4: I'm gonna tell you something. 00:34:58 Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie that much funny. 00:35:00 Speaker 4: He says, these aren't gimme. I did we play off it? 00:35:06 Speaker 10: Hey, you missed like the first five gimmis, and You're like, they don't really give me these at the club, I said, damn, we don't give them anything out here there. 00:35:16 Speaker 2: There you have me. 00:35:17 Speaker 4: Laughing so hard. 00:35:19 Speaker 2: Uh, I know. I just like tapped it didn't go in, and I just picked it up, and Charles like, what the bleep you doing? I go, wait, that's good, and they go, no, you got to play everything into the hole. I go, oh, damn, okay, all right. 00:35:34 Speaker 4: Damn you can. You can wheel work around? 00:35:37 Speaker 2: Okay, thank you? Well you can. I have some gimme putts when I'm out there. 00:35:42 Speaker 4: No, you don't gim me damn. 00:35:44 Speaker 10: Hey, Dan, Just for the record, I miss the entire weekend. I probably missed four gimmes. I'm not gonna lie. They limp out, they lip out. 00:35:53 Speaker 2: Oh, I know, I know it's easy when you're watching people do it on TV. 00:35:56 Speaker 4: All right, yes it is. 00:35:58 Speaker 2: I'll talk to you before Tahoe. But yeah, I'll be out there bringing the show again. 00:36:02 Speaker 4: All right, man, thanks for having me. You got to take care of you. 00:36:05 Speaker 1: All right, Thank you, bro. Well, take a break back after this. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. We had the sunrise big German did a wonderful job in setting up where we were going to be just off the driving range. Got to have a lot of great guests that week. It was a lot of fun. The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, so that'll be coming up in July early July. All right, JT and Oklahoma, Hi, JT. Thanks for holding What do you have for me? 00:36:57 Speaker 11: Hey? 00:36:57 Speaker 2: Dan? 00:36:58 Speaker 9: First time, long time by the lay been one sixty eight. 00:37:04 Speaker 2: Calling in. 00:37:05 Speaker 9: I had a comment I saw something yesterday that Marvin reiterated today about you know, when Kobe was going up for shots and got fouled, he was intentionally trying to make a shot, whereas say he's trying to get a call. But I would disagree because Shay is the most efficient guard and you don't get that way without trying to make just about every time you go up for a shot. 00:37:32 Speaker 2: But let me ask you, JT. And obviously in Oklahoma you're probably a Thunder fan, But does the flopping diminish any part of the success of the Thunder in your opinion? No. 00:37:44 Speaker 9: I think people have been begging for physicality in playoffs and for the last several years saying that no, it's all soft, But as soon as they see a team with physical defense consistently, it's now an issue. So I don't know. 00:38:01 Speaker 2: I'm talking about the flopping of SGA. I'm not talking about their defense. 00:38:07 Speaker 9: No, No, I think no, Shay is his movements have been kind of to watch him finish to the rim, He's not like a typical finisher. He's going to move his body oddly. But as far as drawing fouls I mean flopping, I don't think he does it any more than anyone else. If you see someone in the ball handler dribbling it, they move their heads like very quickly. 00:38:32 Speaker 2: Well, I don't. I I think we'll disagree on that. 00:38:36 Speaker 4: Man. 00:38:36 Speaker 2: I understand he's your guy, but there there is flopping that I think it's not in an epidemic level, but when you're kind of labeled the foul merchant, yes Mormon. 00:38:50 Speaker 5: Yeah, you could see times when he's going up for a shot just to get you to foul him. He's not even trying to get an a one on those. 00:38:58 Speaker 2: Mac in Indiana. I mac which on your mind? 00:39:01 Speaker 11: Hey, nice to have you take my call. Six four two ten of eighty years old basketball college coach for over forty years. I found an interesting article about Wilt Chamber from the Toledo Blade Wednesday, November twenty sixth, nineteen fifty six. Talks about Wilt dunking his free throws, and I thought your guys might be able to look that up as well. But evidently he used to dunk his free throws. And they had an NCAA coaches meeting and text Winner brought it up at the meeting. He was upset that he was going to be playing against Wilt for the next four years. Three or four years, and he said, we need to change the rules. 00:39:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember about that. I wasn't old enough to remember seeing it. But also you know they were taking the dunk out of the game as well. Yeah, Paul, Yeah, appears this is true. 00:40:09 Speaker 8: March of nineteen fifty six was proposed by the Kansas state head coach, as you can imagine, Text Winter, who was also on the regulations committee, and he said that Wilt Chamberlain a couple times took three strides and took off from the free throw line to dunk when he was in a couple of varsity games at Kansas. There was no invented rule to prevent this. No one could ever do it before Wilt. 00:40:32 Speaker 11: Yeah. 00:40:32 Speaker 2: And then they didn't let freshman play varsity because Luel Sindor would have played all four years in won four titles and been the most outstanding player all four years. But they did take out the dunk as well. A lot of rules against Kareem and Wilt Chamberlain. Final hour on the way, more of your phone calls as well. Operator Tyler sitting by. It's a Meet Friday eight seven to seven to three DP show Todd is here, Dylan Marv poll. Yours truly back after this
