So Ryan is on his campus visit for his son, which also may be like his campus visit since he's basically thinking he's going to college next year. Drew is in Nashville for an ON three conference. So Shannon is just me and you are you ready to rock? 00:01:31 Speaker 2: I am, and I can't wait to see Ryan's pictures where he puts on like the team jersey and the helmet and embarrasses his son. 00:01:38 Speaker 3: You know that's gonna happen. 00:01:39 Speaker 4: Well, I mean that's gonna happen when he's in college the whole time. 00:01:41 Speaker 3: He's walk around with a helmet. 00:01:44 Speaker 4: If you were to, yes, exactly, if you were to look up living vicariously through your child, it would be a picture of Ryan Lemon and he's gonna do that as well. You know, he always threatened to move to wherever Josiah went to school. I don't know if that'll happen at Hanover because it's a drive, but he's I could see it. He is, you know, between me and you, he's gonna be pretty sad. He's gonna be an empty nester. I think that's gonna be tough for him. 00:02:11 Speaker 2: He'll be all right, And the good thing is he'll be within driving distance if he has to go to a game. 00:02:15 Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, that's true. 00:02:17 Speaker 3: It's like he's moving off to California when he's had kids. 00:02:19 Speaker 4: In his Like, people, there are people listening to this who know if you have like three kids, you know, you could be used to having some little snotty nosed rug rat in your house for like twenty five to thirty years, right, and then all of a sudden they're gone. That's got to be quite a change, isn't it. 00:02:36 Speaker 3: Thirty years living with your kid though, I mean. 00:02:39 Speaker 4: Not with one kid, but if you have multiple kids and you space them out and you stagger them out, it might be thirty years you got some little thing running around. 00:02:48 Speaker 3: I think Ryan can adapt. 00:02:49 Speaker 4: Though. 00:02:50 Speaker 3: He's got dogs, you know, they can fill the void of the kids to. 00:02:52 Speaker 4: Get yappy dogs just as yappy as he is. So I'm here in this building in Lexing him where the Lexing studios are, and Shannon, you may not know this building. Mario's in here and he does. This has become like there's a lot of you know, the kind of big time folks in Lexington. They live in this building. So if you get to the top, there's apartments up there. There are UK you know, staff members that live up there. You've got like a lot of really rich people in Lexington that live at the top of this building. So when you pull into the parking lot, you drive around like the cars I mean there are in this parking lot. There's like a Masarati. All right, did you know there was some Masarati in Lexington? 00:03:39 Speaker 3: No, I figured Ryan had already damaged every model. 00:03:42 Speaker 4: There's a Maserati. There's like a couple of Porsches because the front row is like the top row is for the rich people. There's a cyber truck, which you know, you know my opinion about cyber trucks. The problem is I know who drives this one, but I want to be like, come on, now, give you all this thing and then you got all this stuff. So it is is like it's almost like a car show. When you pull into the what's the name of this building? What is it? City Center? I think it's called City Center. When you pull into this building. That top row of the garage is like who can bling out their car the best? 00:04:15 Speaker 2: So that's like the level of all the rich people. So I got to ask you where did you park? Because you belong right there at the top of their minds my car. 00:04:23 Speaker 4: No, No, I actually did park on the top level. I took someone. There's like eight general spots and I just one of them was open, which is right. 00:04:32 Speaker 2: You come to that building like twice a year and you're already taking liberties at the top of the parking space. 00:04:37 Speaker 4: Well, you know, I'll park in Uh, there's a coaches spot right there. 00:04:41 Speaker 3: You park wherever you want, just pull up on a sidewalk. It dunkin Donuts. 00:04:44 Speaker 4: That's true, all right? So today the oh, I have one question for you one and this is also for the audience seven seven four, five to five for so, one of my drains last night closed, okay, like a shower drain, And normally a shower drain would close, you know, you might have like gunk or hair in it, and it would close slowly over time, Shannon, you know, the water would take and then what this went from one hundred percent fine to closed like the next day, And I'm not sure why I call the plumber. The plumber comes, I mean, they're up there. I'm here and like drilling, nothing nothing is breaking it. So it's not clearly like hair or anything like, like nothing is breaking. They have to come back today. But here's my question for you. These were nice guys, all right, so let me be clear because they might listen to the show. I don't know shit nice guys, but I want a what's the word here? A dealing with people piece of advice. Okay. I when they come in from the snow, their feet are really muddy, okay, from having walked from the thing right going through the snow. Their feet er money. I have what do you call it a thing on the ground, A mate? What do you call it? 00:06:19 Speaker 3: A mat? 00:06:20 Speaker 4: You know my name? Yeah, a mad one T I have a mat, and I guess they didn't use it because when they step in. I have hardwood floors, there's dirt everywhere. And as they go up the step shennon, which are also hardwood, there's like footprints on each step. So I'm like, oh, they've traped in all this mud. But I thought, you know what they're doing me A favorites five. But then they said they had to go back out and get something. So I went through my head, do I say to them, will you please wipe your feet? Coming in? Now? They're coming in to clean up my thing, right, they're they're they're doing me a service, right, they are charging me. 00:07:10 Speaker 3: For Yeah, it's not free, you're paying them to be there. 00:07:14 Speaker 4: So do you do you think that I should say before they come back in? Hey, man, can you guys not track in all of this mud? 00:07:23 Speaker 3: One hundred percent? I mean, that's on them. 00:07:26 Speaker 2: That's a common courtesy when you go to somebody's house, you should wipe your feet. I mean, like, especially if you're walking through mud, and if you're a company that's coming over to do a service, as. 00:07:38 Speaker 4: Presumably they're used to doing it right, right, right? So so I did, But and then I felt bad because I felt well because I could just tell one of the two of them didn't love that I said it. 00:07:52 Speaker 3: I mean, I would say, look, unless you're going And then. 00:07:53 Speaker 4: They did go outside. They did, they did well. I had I had to clean it up. I cleaned. I was on my knees cleaning up the steps all the way up up the thing. Yeah, but so you think it's not rude to ask them even though they're coming to clean their feet. 00:08:09 Speaker 2: You know, they were the rude ones by coming in with muddy feet. It's a good thing you didn't have carpet. That would have been a completely different conversation up on hardwood. But yeah, I think that's that's a bad look on them. So I would have done the same thing. Hey, wipe your feet. What are you doing, I've got to clean up this mess. 00:08:23 Speaker 3: Now. 00:08:23 Speaker 2: Maybe they were planning on coming back after the fact and cleaning up their mess. That happened sometimes maybe, But if they didn't offer, then yeah, I would have said, take your shoes off. 00:08:32 Speaker 4: All right, all right. I just wanted to make sure because I didn't want to feel bad. Now. I felt a little bit bad about it. Now. What I don't feel bad about is the firestorm I seem to have set off yesterday with my comments about Seth Greenberg. So if you watch the and Jay Williams, So if you watch the or if you listen to the show yesterday, or you watch the video that came out, I sort of said, hey, we don't need Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams to tell us how to be fans. Most of those kinds were about Seth, but Jay also seemed to not like it. And two things happened, one of which is Jay Williams wrote and went blanket, let me come on there and whatever, and I didn't. I was surprised to see that I've always gotten along pretty well Jay. I haven't talked to him much in recent years. But then he texted me and said, let me come on the show, and I said, okay, So that's happening at eleven o'clock. But I don't know Shinn and if this is a hostile takeover of the show or if he just wants to come on and chat. He's been on here many times. The conversation has always been pleasant. We were in school at the same time at Duke. I was in law school when he was an undergrad, So it's always been been pleasant. But there was a little bit of the tweet that made it seem like, is it possible this is a hostile Like is it possible Ryan in Hanover is going to have to crawl under the table at eleven o'clock. 00:09:59 Speaker 3: Good show for right not to be here today? 00:10:00 Speaker 2: And I know you better to know that you're not gonna let anybody take over the show, but it did feel very hostile when he tweeted blanket, you know, blanket, Like, I don't. 00:10:10 Speaker 3: See Jay throwing too many four letter words on Twitter, but he did last night at you. 00:10:15 Speaker 4: It was that was surprising to so I honestly have no idea what we're what we're now. When he texted me, it was completely polite. So I'm going to lean towards He's going to be like not in ready to punch, I hope, but you know, Shannon, I have to be ready though, Like I can't be, you know, I can't be. I can't be not ready. So even though I think this is gonna be gentle, my mind's got to be ready with jab get right, left hook, that's right, uppercut. I gotta be ready just in case. 00:10:49 Speaker 3: You can't go into a fight with your hands down. 00:10:51 Speaker 4: That's exactly right, ready to go. You can't be blindsided. I mean, I might have spent some time last night having clips in case he says something exhibit A. Yeah, I may have come with evidence to show the jury if need be shamed. I'm just saying I'm not. Now, if it's friendly, we don't have to do that. But if it's not like I got, as the kids would say, I got the receipt that they might need if need be. 00:11:17 Speaker 2: Well, Billy and I were hyping it up on the pre show, like this is about to be a heavyweight fight, you know, holy Field, Tyle. 00:11:23 Speaker 4: We'll see. I don't know, it's all that's gonna all be up to him, right, Yeah, we just got to see what. So I think we'll know within two minutes what level of hostility because I intentionally did not call him on the phone because I wanted to leave you know, I wanted to leave it for the air because I thought if I called him like he'd get all his stuff out, then I'd rather just leave it for the air. 00:11:43 Speaker 2: Well, I hope if he is hostile, it's it's legitimate and it's not fake hostility just for the r. 00:11:49 Speaker 4: No, I don't want that, you know. 00:11:50 Speaker 3: If he's gonna make it, I want him to bring it. 00:11:53 Speaker 4: We're not out here producing no fake conflict. No, we gotta have enough real conflict in my life, which gets me to the other guy, Seth. So Seth on the other hand, I put that out and in that comment, of course, I say something to the effect of that he sent he has sent angry, hostile text to me in the past. You have seen them, right, you haven't read them. 00:12:19 Speaker 3: I was like, WHOA, can't believe he tweeted? 00:12:21 Speaker 2: Can't believe he texted that to you? 00:12:24 Speaker 4: Not one, not two, but three college basketball commentators retweeted my video and said, Oh, I guess I'm not the only one that gets them from Seth. I mean Rob Doster, Jeff Goodman, and Sam Vicinni all three said the same thing, and unbeknownst to me, Shannon, we created a college basketball commentator online conversation last night about Seth and his communications when he gets angry. What did you think of that? 00:12:56 Speaker 2: I just wonder, like, do you have anybody in your life other than like, you know, your parents, but like, do you have a friend of your life that you would be willing to go to bat so much for that you would be willing to text another person the things that he texted you. 00:13:12 Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know what to do. I mean I have many No, No, I have many people I would go to bat for. But I mean the things he said to me. 00:13:22 Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. 00:13:23 Speaker 4: I can't imagine sending to someone even if they said something about me. 00:13:32 Speaker 3: That's you know what I mean, Like, man, Seth really loves some cal. 00:13:36 Speaker 4: And then I was shocked to see what was interesting to see that other people have said that, Like he's done that to other people, not just me, multiple other people over cal or just others. I don't know. I don't know what the the other the others were about. But it's like, you know, I would say to Seth, like this is this is bad basketball? Why are you getting so upset at people? 00:14:05 Speaker 5: Not just me? 00:14:06 Speaker 4: It's one thing to get upset at me, Shannon, if you talk about geting upset to me get in line. 00:14:10 Speaker 2: Well, that wouldn't make me feel so bad if I knew that other people were getting the same. 00:14:16 Speaker 4: So last night I was like, I got Jay Williams coming on the show. I went and hit this hard bag or the what do you call it? There's a soft bag and a hard bag, is that right? Well you got this peavy bag sorry speedbag, and the heavy bag soft hard, whatever, speed heavy, And then we got I'm not the only one that Seth comes about. 00:14:37 Speaker 6: Uh. 00:14:37 Speaker 4: That made me feel better if I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven, We're gonna make this for me and Shannon and ask anything Wednesday. No game this week, so we got a lot of openings of places to go. Jay's gonna be on at eleven, but we'll talk about anything up until then. Got some other stuff to get too. Nice to be with my man, STD. Appreciate it. Here's that. 00:15:00 Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know, unfortunate initials. 00:15:02 Speaker 4: You're the only You're the only STD I have, and I'm not even gonna get it treated. We'll take a break and right back this is case are welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. You know, I hear the Louisville feed, So for those of you on Lexington, I don't get to hear the commercials you you listen to. I hear the Louisville one, and I don't know who does it, Shannon, but sometimes I don't know if they're asleep. They just run like seven straight of that voiceover guy going this is Kentucky's boards radio. This It's like he's trying different tones of voice over and over. That's the that's the spot where they probably had to run a PSA but didn't have one or something, so they had to fill that in there for fifteen seconds. But like, why do we do that? Why do we run that seven straight time. 00:15:48 Speaker 3: What if I told you it was actually your fault? 00:15:51 Speaker 4: Why do you think it was my fault? 00:15:53 Speaker 2: Because you because there's a certain amount of exact time like that last break I think was three minutes exactly. And sometimes when you know you record a spot for us, you might give us a minute and a half. 00:16:06 Speaker 3: You might give us fifty seconds. 00:16:07 Speaker 4: You know what. I'm busy right now. Don't don't volume in this stuff. 00:16:11 Speaker 3: So when something comes up, you know, ten seconds short, they gotta fire. 00:16:15 Speaker 4: You know what I got, I got what it is. I got some stuff here to do. Yeah, I wouldn't. That was not supposed to turn around back on me A five, nine, two eight, twenty two eighty seven. People are telling me there's and I didn't think about this booties that the you're supposed to wear those you're supposed to wear foot foot foot booties into people's houses. Why didn't they do that? 00:16:40 Speaker 3: Well, that's what Bob was gonna ask you. I mean, I do. I don't want to throw this company under the bar. 00:16:43 Speaker 4: I'm not either. I'm not gonna say which one because the guys were nice and and even though it's not fixed yet, they're gonna fix it, I think so. I think it's like, but. 00:16:51 Speaker 2: That should be booties normal part of normal piss, especially when it's money and what outside. 00:16:57 Speaker 4: It feels like it should have been what person rights? 00:16:58 Speaker 5: Matt. 00:16:59 Speaker 4: The only thing I'd be dis pointed in is if you let Jay Williams win the conversation. You better not back down just because you're boys. Well, come on, have you ever known me to like? No? You know, the amount of people in media that I consider really my friends, Like, really my friends are the people on this show, Tony Vanetti and Terry Miners, Nick Coffee, And that's probably it. Like there's other people that I'm acquaintances with, you know what I mean, Shannon, I'm acquaintances with them, but like the job is more important because I don't it's not like they're at my house, you know what I mean. Besides that, like they're acquaintances, they're not friends. 00:17:43 Speaker 2: You know, kind of like coaches can't really be that close of friends with a coach because sometimes you've got to be critical of them. 00:17:51 Speaker 4: I've become friends. I've said this many times with two people at UK, Dwayne Peevey and Vince Merrill. I'll never become friends with another one yep. Not that I regret my friendships with Vince and Dwayne, but it does, Shannon put you in a spot where you got to be where like it's hard because they're your friend. 00:18:07 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's going to be friendly. 00:18:09 Speaker 4: I'll never do it. Yes, I'll never do it with another one because Dwayne's gone, so like, obviously that's fine. But with Vince, you know, it is hard. Vince is my friend, but pretty much everyone else, Like I think, I think Greg Doyle's advice to me a long time ago, don't be your friend because once you become friends, and we see this with Seth, you cannot be objective. Seth Greenberg cannot be objective about cal And that's just how it is. 00:18:35 Speaker 2: And you know, when you're in the media, you have a responsibility to be honest, to be real, and you can't do that when you're criticizing somebody that's a good friend of yours. 00:18:44 Speaker 3: It makes it so almost impossible to do. 00:18:46 Speaker 4: When you get in your forties, do you want any new friends anyway? 00:18:50 Speaker 3: No, like all my friends, my friends that I have, Yeah. 00:18:53 Speaker 4: Why do you need new ones? Like you got plenty of. 00:18:56 Speaker 3: At least twenty years at this point. 00:18:57 Speaker 4: And when you start to meet people in your forties, then like that you want something from you? Yep, you know what I mean. Like it's you got to go with the people from Mario. That's a good lesson for you. The day one people, all right before when you become a big star, you just remember the day one people. Kate, how are you, Kate? 00:19:13 Speaker 6: Hey, I'm good. Well you answered the question about what are you doing. Somebody's coming in the house with nut on your feet. But I asked them to wear booties when I make the coffee. Would you mind having them make sure there's a pair of booties in this. 00:19:25 Speaker 4: So let's say they get there, and let's say they get there and they don't have their booty out. Would you would you tell them, like, would you say, hey, I need you to put that on before you come in? 00:19:37 Speaker 6: Yes, could you please put those off there? Say I don't have any Guess what I keep a pair. I keep a box of them in the clock right by the front door. 00:19:44 Speaker 4: See that I don't know that I shouldn't. I'll never be that prepared for life that I will have a box of booties in my house for next to the door for people who come in. I'll never I know me, I'll never be that prepared. 00:19:56 Speaker 2: It shouldn't be your responsibility. Kay, it's just one step ahead of everybody at home. 00:20:00 Speaker 4: Okay, you're just you're just better than us. 00:20:03 Speaker 6: No, no, no, But I have one other thing I want to go back to. But thank you for the compliment. Last week you were talking about Tyler Childers and the song Charleston Girl. I do believe, yes, just so you probably are a step ahead of me on this. Just so you know, do you know who Charleston Girl is? 00:20:23 Speaker 4: I do not know. 00:20:27 Speaker 6: Sierra Ferrell? You know who that is. 00:20:30 Speaker 4: Yeah, she's like a country singer. Is that who it's about? 00:20:34 Speaker 6: Yeah, that's girlfriend, Charleston Girl. And she has a great song in Dreams. Go listen to it. I mean, she's made it big now. 00:20:42 Speaker 4: But Sierra, all right, well there you go. I did, and I know that. I appreciate the colset case. She's also a country singer. Do you I'd love taller childrens? I saw you know it's April nineteenth is when he's there at croger Field. Oh really yeah? 00:20:58 Speaker 3: Is that already sold out? 00:20:59 Speaker 4: There's an amazing I don't think it is, because there's an a on UKSE campus. You know, they got that building where Kennedy Bookstore used to be, and now it's like this real fancy building and they put ads on the wall of the building like you're in like Times Square. And there was a huge one last night of Tyler Childers. It was like his face. I thought, man, that doesn't look like something that would be in Lexington. It was like right there on campus, just this huge on the on the building projection of Tyler Childe. 00:21:30 Speaker 3: How quickly he has shot up. 00:21:32 Speaker 2: And I've never even heard of the guy until you brought him up and he was playing little bars and now he's you know, playing. 00:21:37 Speaker 4: So I'm in Amsterdam with thirty people just six years ago, and now you got seven years ago ed in Michigan. What's up? 00:21:43 Speaker 7: Ed hey man? 00:21:46 Speaker 5: Remember when you had Big Willy on a few days ago? Yas, yes, okay, and you played on the Willie Kylie stein Man's. 00:21:55 Speaker 4: Song, Yes. 00:21:57 Speaker 5: All right, Well they got a much better song you should have played him. Was called Big Big Willie and it's done by Scott Collins. Y'all, Gay's check it out. I'm I'm sure you'll love it. 00:22:09 Speaker 4: All right. I appreciate the call, but the point of playing that song for Willie was not because it was good. The point of playing it was because because it was it was bad. That was why we were But he loved it though. Yeah, I think Willie. I said this to him when it was over. Willie's one of the first people that played for cal that I think could do media, like for real. You know. I think that the standard for me for former players doing media is high. I think there's a lot of former players that do it that aren't even necessarily very good at it. I think for former UK players, Rex and Jack have been the best, and Mike Pratt of course back in the day. But I think Willy, if he applied himself, could do it because he's smart, he's personable, he's good at storytelling. I told him that after Man, if you ever really want to do this, I think you could. We'll take a break if I'm nine two twenty two, eight seven it's KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:23:05 Speaker 3: He'll make them pay. 00:23:07 Speaker 2: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:10 Speaker 3: Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:13 Speaker 4: Here we go, come on now, like I don't, I don't turn on ninety eight one of the bull find me a better song than this? 00:23:30 Speaker 3: Do they even play this stuff? 00:23:32 Speaker 4: He doesn't even first of all, no, never when they play this. Secondly, like it's just well in the writing, it's just great. Charleston girl, if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, you and I were cracking up during the break that dude's commercial. I don't I don't know how he how did that pass? Like, how do they put that out? What's his name? Is it? Russ McDow. 00:23:56 Speaker 3: I shouldn't know his name? 00:23:57 Speaker 2: I mean he runs it ever he I think it's it's like Russ mcnaw, the time Share guy, right. 00:24:02 Speaker 4: It's the time Share guy, like a lot of you. I'm sure all of you who've listened have heard it. But he's like this old guy. And he was like, I'm not a liar. I don't even want you to think I'm a lawyer. If you think I'm a liar, I'll whip back. 00:24:18 Speaker 3: Down if I sound like a lawyer. 00:24:22 Speaker 4: Lawyer, eye, my josh, how did he make that commercially? Who cleared that? 00:24:29 Speaker 3: Well? 00:24:29 Speaker 2: I just want to know, like, who you know said that this guy was a lawyer to begin with? 00:24:34 Speaker 4: Does he walk around and people go, I think he's a lawyer. 00:24:37 Speaker 3: Accuse this guy of being a lawyer, like somebody a liar. 00:24:42 Speaker 4: So during the break I was doing my impression, my impersonation of that commercial, and I got so into it I actually dropped a bad word. Shannon looked up quickly like, oh no, did they go over the air? 00:25:00 Speaker 3: I mean it was entertaining good. 00:25:01 Speaker 2: Yes, sometimes it shows more entertaining off the air than it is hard. 00:25:04 Speaker 4: I completely agree with you. One verse especially wishes me and you one person rights, Matt. I think the problem is BBN feels like they have to win all of the online conversations instead of allowing others to have different opinions. And that's why announcers don't like us. Maybe so, but here's the thing. When these announcers go on TV, they're making an argument, and what bothers them is they say their argument in their little TV world and then when somebody goes, wait a minute, I have a different opinion, it infuriates them. I like when people disagree with me online, so long as they don't like get personal and like cuss at me or something. But I expect people to disagree. But there's nothing worse than listening to two people who are not UK fans tell UK fans what they should believe about their program. That's so ridiculous. And that was my point yesterday. You know, I can have an opinion of what Republicans should do, but at the end of the day, I'm not a Republican, So like they get to decide same thing with me. Like, I'm a Kentucky fan, you are not. And so when you tell me what what what bothered me about? Says comment was real Kentucky fans? Yeah, like I'm a real Kentucky fan, Seth is not. He doesn't get to decide who a real Kentucky fan is because he ain't part of the group. 00:26:33 Speaker 3: And we heard that. 00:26:34 Speaker 2: You mentioned it yesterday, that same verbiage real Kentucky fan. 00:26:38 Speaker 4: You know it was the real that bothered Yeah. Yeah, like Jay Jay's comments I disagreed with. They didn't bother me, sess bothered me because I'm like, you don't get to say what real is cause you ain't one of us, and. 00:26:54 Speaker 2: You're not gonna win an online conversation or argument with with our fan base. 00:27:00 Speaker 4: That is true. 00:27:01 Speaker 3: We got the biggest family we do. 00:27:03 Speaker 4: Micah, all right, I want to ask you a question. Do you know who Shannon Jack Schlossburg is? 00:27:10 Speaker 8: No? 00:27:10 Speaker 4: I don't, Marl, do you know Jack Slossburg? He's kinda he's online. He is j f K's grandson. I believe, yes, he's JFK's grandson. I don't know which of the kids his, but like he he's like in his thirties. Women think he's handsome, and he's on TikTok a lot, and he's always making like jokes and stuff. So he's kind of online famous, Okay, he tweeted out. He showed a picture of jd Vance's wife, right, who is at the inauguration? Who is very you know, this is beautiful? She looked great at the inauguration. Jd Vance's wife, and he said, who is hotter Jacqueline Kennedy O Nassas or jd Vance. Here's the problem. Jacqueline Kennedy is his grandma. 00:28:02 Speaker 3: That's a little. 00:28:02 Speaker 4: Weird, Okay, that was his grandma. Yeah, so he's basically saying, who's hotter my grandma or jd Vance's wife. And of course a lot of people on the internet were like. 00:28:17 Speaker 3: Eugh, that's weird talking about grandma and her problem. 00:28:22 Speaker 4: Why would you be asking people about how hot your grandma is. It's like, I'm gonna that's not weird. It was just a conversation. Shannon, I'm gonna say, that's really weird to me. Is it weird to you? 00:28:40 Speaker 3: Absolutely? 00:28:40 Speaker 4: It is. 00:28:41 Speaker 2: And again, I mean, we're talking about grandma in her later years, her grandma when she was the same age as Jad. 00:28:46 Speaker 4: I think you should be talking about how hot your grandma is to begin I agree. 00:28:50 Speaker 3: I agree with you. It's just a weird standard to begin with. I'm gonna go with who's tweeting? 00:28:56 Speaker 4: Who's tweeting out though? Who's hotter my grandma or this woman right here? Who's who's asking that question? 00:29:02 Speaker 2: Unless he's just trying to trash jd Vance's wife. 00:29:07 Speaker 4: You know, I don't think he was, though, because he I think he complimented her in the tweet. To me, there's a lot of weird stuff that goes out there, but asking people to write your grandma in an attractiveness scale, to me, is one of the weirdest. That just is one of the cringier things I can think of. 00:29:26 Speaker 3: That's that's definitely strange. I think we do we have a delay? Are we on a delay. 00:29:30 Speaker 4: Here maybe well, I don't know. We'll see Scott go ahead, Scott, Yeah, got a break. 00:29:40 Speaker 7: I got a quick question. 00:29:42 Speaker 4: Uh. 00:29:42 Speaker 7: Nothing against Mark polp I think he was He's a tough pick for our team. But why was why is like Bruce Pearl now on the never talked to list? 00:29:54 Speaker 4: Say that again? Why for u K? Why was Bruce Pearl on the never talked to list? 00:30:00 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:30:01 Speaker 7: Yeah? 00:30:01 Speaker 4: Why was? 00:30:02 Speaker 7: He never considered y'all bad an answer ever before? But I. 00:30:06 Speaker 4: Couldn't give you the exact reason because I wasn't in the room. But I've talked about when Mark Pope was hired. There were four coaches. There was a list of eight. There were three at the very top that was Danny Hurley, Scott Drew and Billy Donovan. And then there was a list of probably six that were in the next tier. That list included Mark Pope, it included Shaka Smart, and then it included four people that all got scratched by the HighRes up. So I think these were some people that were on Mitch's list. But then people higher up, now I don't know if it was the president or the board, I'm not sure, but people higher up said we can't talk to him. It was Natoates, it was Bruce Pearl, it was Sean Miller, and it was Chris Beard. I think the reason I don't know this, but my guess is the reason for all of them is exactly what you would think it is. For Sean Miller, he had been in some trouble with the NCAAA. For Chris Beard, there were obviously personal issues that you know, I think everybody knows about. For Nate Oates, I think there was something like going on that made it hard for him to leave Alabama. I don't really know a lot about that either. And then for Bruce Pearl, it was his NCAA problems that he had had at Tennessee and for the higher ups at Kentucky that struck all four of those people off the list, so that the final decision was going to be between Mark Pope and Shaka Smart. It might have been Mark Pope anyway, even if all those people had been on the list. I don't know, but that's what it was in. 00:31:37 Speaker 7: The end, Okay, Okay. I didn't know if it was something deeper than that, or it just clarification or it Like I said, I think, you know, Pope, yeah, to take for us. I love what he's doing, and I'll just curiosities. I appreciate it. 00:31:50 Speaker 4: Yeah, appreciate the call. I mean, you know, they focused initially Shannon on those top three candidates. Yep, they got two no's with dating Early and Scott Drew and then Billy Donovan. They kept playing, right, they kept playing, so they ended up where they couldn't basically take the you know, wait any longer, which got him to that second tier. And then it became a lot easier because on that second tier a lot of those guys got knocked off. I, along. 00:32:18 Speaker 2: With a lot of people, really wanted Danny Hurley here, but after watching him this season, he's a loose cannon. I don't know that that would have worked here at Kentucky and maybe Crost. 00:32:28 Speaker 4: I wouldn't say, let's talk about that in the next sect because I want to talk about that because that is that is him. Last night was a whole nother thing, right, Like, I mean, he's he's on one, but we'll save that for just a minute. It sounds like you got caught back up. However you did that, I don't know. We'll take a break, Shannon and I continue and Jay Williams at eleven o'clock it's KSR. Yeah, this is the song that Mario doesn't know. This is old two yes, brand new flavor in your ear. He didn't know it and he was like, what is this? I felt like, come on man. 00:33:38 Speaker 3: Young Mario makes me feel old man. It makes me realize like he doesn't anything. 00:33:43 Speaker 4: He thinks Drake is the best rapper of all time. It's like, come on, man, were you alive during Biggie and Tupac? Like do you remember that that existed? 00:33:53 Speaker 3: Mario is the one and he was. 00:33:54 Speaker 4: The answer is I was not. That's his answer. Yeah A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four h one person rides Matt, what do you think about Danny Hurley's if he had come here? Would it have worked? Well, he would have won, but I think the rest of it would have been a lot. So last night, he gets into it with a referee, Danny Hurley. He gets into it with a referee, and the referee like is talking to him and he's yelling at him. So a referee does what a lot of referees do, Shan, and they walk away right Yep. It's like, I'm not gonna deal with this. He screams at him and then says something like, how are you walking away from me? I'm the best bleeping coach in college basketball, which is a think Wow. Well, no, of course he believes that. I mean, I got I know he believes that, and I'm not even he might be right, Shannon. Let's be real. He's won two straight titles, yes, at Connecticut, Like, I think he deserves a lot of credit, But I can't believe he said that to a ref and he got caught on camera. So after the game, of course, the media is like, hey, man, did you just yell this? And his answer was yes, But why don't you all put the cameras on the other coaches as much as you do me? Well, because they're not the best bleeping coach in college basketball. Danny Hurley, like with who much is given, much is expected. He's the most arrogant coach in the country. I'm not saying he can't be because they're winning, but I couldn't believe he said that. 00:35:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, the camera is always on him because he's over there screaming like a madman loses it And yeah, I mean that's what I was going to ask you last segment, Like, I don't Yes, he would have won here, there's no doubt about that. 00:35:56 Speaker 3: But he is not a Mitch Barnhart guy. 00:35:58 Speaker 4: First of all, he and Mitch b Barnhart would have killed each other. If Danny Hurley and Mitch Barnhart were together, they would have killed each other. I had someone who's very close to Mitch, and I will just leave it at that say to me that while Mitch felt like he had to go after him, there was a deep breath when it was over, because Mitch's thought was, I'd have just been going from one of those guys to the other. Yep. 00:36:25 Speaker 2: It feels like he and John cali Perry have a very similar. 00:36:29 Speaker 4: Very similar now, Jack Kell, I don't think Cal is quite as arrogant as strange as that sounds, or at least he expresses his arrogance differently. But like, and then think about if you think the spotlight is on you at Ukon, Dude, what if he was doing that stuff here? Shit, Like, if he was doing that stuff here, he's leading PTI every day with it, and I don't know if that dude could handle that scrutiny Shennon on a daily basis. 00:36:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know that he could either. And again, it's just like Caliperi. When you're winning, you can get away with a lot. 00:37:04 Speaker 4: We saw it, but like. 00:37:07 Speaker 2: But when you lose and you're acting like a lunatic, it's not gonna work out here for you. 00:37:12 Speaker 4: He's alludic and luckily though for him, he wins. 00:37:14 Speaker 7: And so. 00:37:17 Speaker 3: Hard to be humble when you're you know, back to back, That's what. 00:37:19 Speaker 4: That guy said. It's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way, right, what is that guy's name and say that? Will go ahead? 00:37:26 Speaker 9: Will hey, Matt, you know mine? Just staying for Seth's Greenberg. I don't know if anybody remembers this, but when Tubby left, he was on Sports Center, you know, that afternoon, basically insinuating that we had ran Tubby off because of his race, and you know, not to take an account because maybe Tubby's friends, like he is Cal's friends, that the program was kind of dropping down and Tubby left on his own accord. But that's really where m the thing starting. 00:37:59 Speaker 4: I don't know if he might Yeah, I don't remember him specifically saying that. But here's here's another message to announcers, because this happens every time. Every time a coach leaves, people say to us, Kentucky basketball will never be great again if you lose this, and they are all wrong, every one of them. They were wrong when Rick Patino left, they were wrong when Tubby Smith left, they were wrong when John Caliperry left, and they might be wrong one day if Mark Pope ever leaves. Kentucky basketball is bigger than any one coach. Part of what used to frustrate me about even some of our own younger fans. But what do we go to Caliperry Leaves is because this program, Look, Cal was great for a while here, but we'll find another coach. Now, we'll get duds sometimes we had a dud with Billy Gillespie, but you know what will happen after the dud. The next coach we'll find a great one too. And the program takes great, very good coaches and makes them great. That's what Kentucky does. Takes very good coaches and makes them great. With the exception maybe of Cal, we've never taken a coach, Shannon that was already great. They've all been guys who were really, really good, and then we help take them to the next level. Yep. 00:39:21 Speaker 2: The brand is already established. The brand is here and it always will be here. 00:39:26 Speaker 4: That's exactly right. 00:39:27 Speaker 2: That's another thing you talk about feeling sorry for Cal when you make comments like, hey, it's the same thing, we're just moving it to a different city, Cal University, and. 00:39:35 Speaker 4: How'd that work out? How'd that work out? He's going five. That's what tried to move the same thing to a different city is. And so these announcers, they all believe that their guy leaves and this falls apart. And if there's one thing we've seen over the years, it ain't gonna fall apart because of one person. I don't care who the person is. They can be replaced. The one thing that matters is that name on the front of the jersey, Jordan, what's up? Jordan? 00:40:05 Speaker 8: And at first time, long time? 00:40:07 Speaker 4: Who are what's up? 00:40:10 Speaker 8: Me and my best friend, also a huge UK fan are odds right now? Over hypothetical. I was hoping you could. 00:40:15 Speaker 4: Help us out with this, go for it. 00:40:19 Speaker 8: So we had talked about the next five games are pretty crucial for us, and we were talking about being four and one we would be thrilled. 00:40:28 Speaker 4: Yes, read them. It's what at Bandy, at Tennessee, Arkansas at home? And then what are the next two? 00:40:34 Speaker 3: Ole Miss? 00:40:35 Speaker 8: We have South Carolina and Old Miss? 00:40:36 Speaker 4: Yeah, South Carolina at home, Old Miss on the road right, Yes for? And one would be great, Yes for? And one would be great because you're playing two games at Old Miss and at Tennessee that I think you could easily lose either one. Then you got to hold serve in the other. 00:40:51 Speaker 5: Three for sure. 00:40:53 Speaker 8: So the hypothetically one with the one being ar tall or would you rather go three and two, three and. 00:41:03 Speaker 4: Two and beat Arkansas? Appreciate the call three and two and beat Arkansas. We can't I mean losing to Arkansas, especially with the start they have. And now as we'll talk about Boogie flannd out, he can't lose Arkansas. 00:41:15 Speaker 2: No, that's the one game I mean, and you can't. Three or three of those are very winnable games. The other two would be too. 00:41:20 Speaker 4: You could lose at Tennessee and that old miss still be all right, Yeah, still be all right for the tournament because we're not gonna win the SEC. I don't think either way, so we'd still be all right for the tournament. We got some breaking news, but I just got like five seconds, right, you. 00:41:34 Speaker 3: Got a minute, You get a minute? 00:41:35 Speaker 4: Oh, I got a minute, Okay, breaking news. Liam Cohen announces he will get well. The Bucks announce a raise for Liam Cohen. He pulls himself out of all coaching searches and we'll stay with the Bucks. Is the offensive coordinat WHOA. That's surprised because he was probably gonna get it look like he was gonna get the Jacksonville job. 00:41:54 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we thought for the longest time his goal was to be a head coach with think he would take it. 00:42:01 Speaker 4: Yeah, it's interesting. I wonder why that is. 00:42:05 Speaker 3: I don't know money. Is it possible that he got paid? 00:42:09 Speaker 4: Last night they reported that he was being hired by Jacksonville. So I texted Tony Kahan with Jacksonville, said congrats on Liam Cohen. He's awesome. 00:42:20 Speaker 3: Oops, has he read it yet? 00:42:22 Speaker 2: Is the red receipt on the Can I delete that? 00:42:28 Speaker 4: All right? Well, when we come back. Jay Williams
